Support for the show comes from Jira by Atlassian. AI is only as useful as the context it has to work from, but when that context is scattered across tools, threads, and DMs, that means your team and your AI agents end up flying blind. That's the problem that Jira solves. What's the goal tied to your project? What got decided last week in Slack? Atlassian's teamwork graph pulls all these pieces together, from Jira, Confluence, Slack, GitHub, and more, so nothing falls through the cracks. With Jira, you can actually share that context with the AI agents you already use, like Claude, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot, assign them work directly, or connect your agents through MCP. Spend less time digging through endless links and DMs, less time chasing down what got decided and by

who, and more time actually shipping. Learn more at jira.com. That's J-I-R-A dot com. This is awesome. And this is also like among all the AI and like overpromising and random crap that we see at CES. Like, this is just a real thing that is just great. This is great.

• 1:31Andrew Manganelli?

Specifically said, there's no AI in this product at all.

• 1:39Speaker 01

Yo, what is up, people of the internet? Welcome back to another episode of the Waveform Podcast. We're your hosts. I'm Marquez.

• 1:45Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm Andrew.

• 1:45Speaker 01

And I'm David. First episode of 2026. Let's go. It's good to be back. It's really good to be back. And since we took the last week of the year off, there's actually a ton of stuff to talk about.

• 1:59Andrew Manganelli?

  So much.

• 2:00Speaker 01

And it's CES. So we have plenty of that. We also have an AR glasses startup that's in a bit of a pickle. You'll get that later. Wait. Adam's got it. Thank you.

• 2:12David Imel?

  Thank you.

• 2:12Speaker 01

Sorry, I'm a little rusty. CES, of course, but also we're gonna wrap it up with some 2026 predictions because it's the first episode of the year and we like to do that sort of stuff. It's been like two weeks since we got our first, but first, but first, Ellis.

• 2:26Speaker 03

Someone asked me my battery percentage.

• 2:28Speaker 01

Ah, Ellis, what's uh, what's your battery percentage now?

• 2:32Speaker 03

My battery percentage is 41%. But not for the reason you think.

• 2:38Speaker 01

What happened, Ellis? What's going on over there?

• 2:41Speaker 03

  From my Instagram slash Reddit.

• 2:44Speaker 01

  What is it?

• 2:44Speaker 04

  Pause for dramatic effect.

• 2:46Speaker 03

  This guy, this purple guy.

• 2:48Speaker 01

  Were you sitting on that?

• 2:49Speaker 03

He's laid to rest. The iPhone Mini people.

• 2:52Speaker 01

  Yeah, iPhone 12 Mini.

• 2:53Speaker 03

Beautiful iPhone 12 Mini, no case, purple finish, 64GB. She's done.

• 2:58Speaker 01

  No longer.

• 2:59Speaker 03

  We now have.

• 3:02Speaker 01

  Whoa.

• 3:04Speaker 03

  The silver 17 Pro.

• 3:05Speaker 01

You got the right, you got the exact correct model.

• 3:07Speaker 03

  It's beautiful.

• 3:08Speaker 01

This is a massive change for you.

• 3:11Speaker 03

It's crazy how much I missed. I jumped five generations of iPhone in one go.

• 3:17Speaker 01

This is what it's all about. You wait as long as you possibly can until your phone is on its dying breath.

• 3:22Speaker 03

  It's crazy.

• 3:23Speaker 01

  And now.

• 3:24Speaker 03

Dude, I am downloading apps like nobody's been, I think of an app, I'm walking down the street, I'm like, the Target app, I shop at Target, it's on my phone now, it's crazy, you guys.

• 3:36Speaker 01

What is the, so you're at 46% because you didn't charge it over now?

• 3:39Speaker 03

Because I never need to charge this phone, I'm never charging it, I swear, and then it's beautiful, it's beautiful, I go to sleep with it in my hand, wake up, there's still like 50% battery life left.

• 3:50Speaker 01

Fall asleep watching reels. I'm on the same, this is a tangent, but I haven't charged a OnePlus 15 since this two days ago, it's at 52%, just because I just don't charge it.

• 3:59Speaker 03

No, it's sick, you go over to your girlfriend's house and you're like, I left a phone charger at home, doesn't matter.

• 4:04Speaker 01

  Who cares?

• 4:05Speaker 03

  Literally, who cares?

• 4:07Speaker 01

What, but your girlfriend doesn't have a USB C charger?

• 4:10Speaker 03

Doesn't matter if she does or doesn't. I didn't even ask.

• 4:13Speaker 01

  Not even worried.

• 4:14Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 4:17Speaker 03

Uh, camera control, I like it.

• 4:20Speaker 01

Just to open the camera. You don't deserve that phone. How long?

• 4:25Andrew Manganelli?

So camera control was really nice for the first two weeks, I would say.

• 4:30Speaker 01

I just use it to open the camera.

• 4:31Andrew Manganelli?

  Same.

• 4:32Speaker 03

Yeah, so I actually have it set to open the Moment Pro camera, which the slider doesn't interact with.

• 4:38Andrew Manganelli?

  Smart.

• 4:39Speaker 03

In the actual Apple Camera app, I use it all the time, though. And I have it, uh, like, because you can, you know, you can order the, um, you can turn on or off different things it controls.

• 4:48Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 4:48Speaker 03

And then you can also change what it controls by default and the order of the options in the menu. And once you have that tuned, because I'm always changing the exposure of the Apple Camera app.

• 4:58Speaker 01

I had to do tone, and I just thought I was going to use that all the time, and then I just stopped using it.

• 5:02Speaker 03

I use it. I love it. I'm a camera control demon.

• 5:05Andrew Manganelli?

  Wow, okay.

• 5:06Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 5:06Andrew Manganelli?

  All right.

• 5:07Speaker 03

Action button, I'm kind of so-so on.

• 5:09Speaker 01

  Oh, just wait.

• 5:10Speaker 04

  Oh, just wait.

• 5:11Speaker 03

  I just haven't, I haven't found a thing that I'm like.

• 5:15Speaker 01

I'm, I would like to start the countdown timer until this flips.

• 5:18Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 5:19Speaker 01

Where you're an action button demon, and you're like, I'm kind of done with camera control. I just kind of point and shoot, and the photos are all pretty good. But action, oh, I can't live without the action button anymore.

• 5:27Speaker 03

Really? What is your action button set to?

• 5:29Speaker 01

Uh, it opens my to-do list app. Formerly was opening my camera app, but there's just so many ways to open the camera.

• 5:35Speaker 03

  Yeah, it's true.

• 5:35Speaker 01

I gotta say, I haven't used my action button in a while. It is, it is tied to Gemini voice mode.

• 5:41Andrew Manganelli?

  There's why.

• 5:42Speaker 01

And I just don't use that very much anymore.

• 5:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 5:45Andrew Manganelli?

Wait, are any of you shortcuts people?

• 5:48Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 5:48Speaker 01

  No.

• 5:49Andrew Manganelli?

That is what the action button is for.

• 5:50Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 5:51Andrew Manganelli?

Whatever Apple gave you, ignore it. Just make it shortcuts.

• 5:53Speaker 01

  That's a good take.

• 5:54Andrew Manganelli?

  Listen.

• 5:55Speaker 01

It's just shortcuts aren't that good yet.

• 5:57Andrew Manganelli?

Yo, we all know what the iPhone 17 Pro is. We did a review on it. Why, what broke the camel's back? What shit, yeah, like, we've been what?

• 6:06Speaker 01

  Wait for the full.

• 6:07Andrew Manganelli?

We've been doing this for like, two years, and when are you gonna upgrade? And no one's asking you the question of like, why?

• 6:12Speaker 03

It was, there was something. Let's see, it was the end of the year, it was cold. Yeah. We were about to go on break. The battery is even worse when it's cold. I hadn't gotten sick yet. I was like sick all the whole holidays. There was some, I don't remember, there was something where like I needed to do something or that was like only in an app and my phone just like would not download it or like it was the thing, cause like the, I think I've mentioned this much times, but the, the biggest problem with the 12 mini in its current state was that the digitizer was so bad. It was the memory, it was just having so much trouble memory swapping. And so the digitizer was always crashing. And so it was like 60% of my touch inputs would either just not register

• 6:56Speaker 03

or register in a completely random wrong place. And then if any of, if any of the screen conditions changed, like for example, like a drop of water or a speck of dust like hit any part of the screen and the capacitance changed, I would have to fully lock and unlock the phone for the digitizer to like reset. It's like using a phone underwater. And it kinda, right? And then like,

• 7:21Speaker 03

you know what it really, what, you know, it broke the camel's back, actually. It was the memory swap had gotten so bad that most of the time, the lock and unlock button, it wouldn't recognize presses. Like the button itself was fine. It was that like the command was so late. And then I'd get frustrated and I'd like hit it a bunch of times, which would trigger Siri. That's distraught. Why do you have Siri on? And then Siri would, Siri, Siri uses so much RAM that the memory swap would entirely fail and the phone would just crash. And so I'd be in the process of trying to lock my phone so I could put it in my pocket and end up just like fully crashing it and boot cycling it. And I was just like,

• 8:04Speaker 03

and I just realized like I wasn't gonna make it another calendar year. How do you feel about the size now that you're? You know what's really funny is the first week or two I had it, I was so convinced they accidentally sold me the Pro Max.

• 8:20Speaker 03

I kept going into my phone and like looking at like the about me to be like, it's a pro, it says pro. And then I'd look at the box and be like, but it says, I'm sure it's a pro. And then I'd see someone on like a plane or on the street and be like, their pro looks, it looks, it looks smaller than mine.

• 8:37David Imel?

Funny, because when I handle a regular pro, I'm like, this is the tiniest phone I've ever held in my life.

• 8:42Speaker 03

Yeah, I'm totally used to it now. This feels tiny. And also, what's really funny is they're pretty similar weights.

• 8:47David Imel?

  That is funny.

• 8:48Speaker 03

  Uh, with the unibody.

• 8:49David Imel?

You know, the titanium would have even been 10% lighter.

• 8:53Andrew Manganelli?

Did you ever play Mario Party 2?

• 8:55Speaker 03

No, not a million years old.

• 8:58Andrew Manganelli?

It was a game called Dizzy Dancing, where like, all the controls are backwards.

• 9:02Speaker 03

  Oh, I do know that.

• 9:03Andrew Manganelli?

That's what it sounds like using your 12 Mini was like, just like, every time you try and do something, it does the opposite.

• 9:08David Imel?

Speaking of all the controls being backwards, really quick. So I'm using a 2008 Mac Pro at home.

• 9:15Andrew Manganelli?

  Damn.

• 9:15David Imel?

Yeah, it's running macOS Yosemite. It's almost 20 years old. It's air gapped.

• 9:21Speaker 03

  Is Yosemite the first one?

• 9:22David Imel?

  Almost drink.

• 9:23Speaker 03

Wait, is Yosemite after High Sierra? No, it's before. So you're still running 32-bit apps?

• 9:28David Imel?

  That's right.

• 9:30Speaker 03

  Hell, yeah.

• 9:30David Imel?

Well, I'm not running any apps on that computer.

• 9:34David Imel?

But for some reason, the mouse decided that left is right. Up is still up and down is still down, but left is right and right is left.

• 9:42Andrew Manganelli?

  Is this a logic mouse?

• 9:43Speaker 03

No, you can fix that in the settings.

• 9:44Andrew Manganelli?

  A magic mouse?

• 9:45David Imel?

It, no, it's like a default.

• 9:48Speaker 03

It's in, no, it's in the macOS settings.

• 9:50David Imel?

When I move the mouse to the right, it goes left.

• 9:52Speaker 03

They, they built that. No, that's, that's in there for some reason.

• 9:56David Imel?

  Are you sure?

• 9:57Speaker 03

I remember, I remember, like, when you're a kid and your computer doesn't have any games, and so you just [bleep] with the settings and all day. I remember finding it.

• 10:03David Imel?

Because it was very normal for the last year, and then I woke up one day and I was like...

• 10:08Andrew Manganelli?

Wait, what kind of mouse is this?

• 10:09David Imel?

It's literally like, the cheapest, like, I think it's, what is the Best Buy, like, uh, Insignia?

• 10:15Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh.

• 10:16David Imel?

  It's ho-

• 10:16Andrew Manganelli?

That might just be the mouse.

• 10:18David Imel?

Well, yeah, I mean, I think, I think something happened to the mouse.

• 10:20Andrew Manganelli?

I knew someone who was lefty who used a righty mouse upside down in their left hand.

• 10:25David Imel?

Stop. So they clicked it with their palm?

• 10:28Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 10:29David Imel?

  Ew.

• 10:29Andrew Manganelli?

  There's a whole, anyway.

• 10:30David Imel?

  Okay, alright, well.

• 10:32Andrew Manganelli?

But I do, I do have one more thing.

• 10:34David Imel?

  Okay.

• 10:34Andrew Manganelli?

  I have something also.

• 10:35David Imel?

Oh, great, because we went a long time without our one thing.

• 10:37Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, yeah, we all have a buffer.

• 10:40Andrew Manganelli?

No, it's literally all, okay, the, the mouse thing was, everything else was.

• 10:43Speaker 03

I, I need to close out this by saying... There were so many people that even when I teased the fact that I got a new phone, like reached out in agony, like the amount of comments I got that were just like, "No, no, no." So, uh-

• 10:56Speaker 01

I think we should have a burial.

• 10:57Andrew Manganelli?

We'll just glue it to the-

• 10:59Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 10:59Andrew Manganelli?

  The thing behind you.

• 11:00Speaker 03

I have a framed, uh, a framed picture of this, it with a halo over it in the, um, audio room, and then I'll probably just not charge my phone on Tuesday night, so you can still ask me what my battery percentage is.

• 11:11Speaker 01

  Hell, yeah.

• 11:12Speaker 03

So we can keep, keep it going. I'd have to be a degenerate somehow.

• 11:16Speaker 01

That's gonna be awesome. Yeah, we should just have it behind you.

• 11:19Speaker 03

But I'm sorry to everyone who wanted to see my life continue to suck.

• 11:24Speaker 03

  To all my haters.

• 11:26Speaker 01

So I have, my quick story is, um, I finally got the Hasselblad X2D Mark II.

• 11:33Speaker 04

  Bingo.

• 11:34Speaker 01

Now, you might be wondering, "Marquez, how did you get it? What was going on?" The, the long backstory is, I ordered the Hasselblad X2D Mark II and the 35 to 100 from B&H in August of last year. So it's been six months since I placed my order. So, waiting, waiting, waiting, and it says like, "Yes, it's a new item, it's back ordered, it's in high demand, like we'll get to your order in the order it was received." Fine. I get an order saying, "Oh, expect your order sometime in September," in this rough section of weeks. That time comes and goes. They send me another update automated saying, "Actually, December, sometime in this span in December." I said, "All right, you know what? Fine." And I, you know, I had my review unit, it was fine. I said, "I'll wait." That span in December comes and goes. I get another automated email saying, "Sometime

• 12:18Speaker 01

in January." Now, it's the second week of January. I'm starting to think, "I don't know if I'm gonna get this order from B&H or not. Maybe I should just cancel this and, you know, try Adorama or something else. Like, someone else might have it in stock." I start poking around, seeing who has it in stock. Um, on Monday of this week, I call B&H, and I go, "Hey, I have this order in my account. You gotta scroll down a little bit, it's from August, six months ago. It's for this Hasselblad camera. Do you know anything about this order, if there's any update of when I might get it?" The guy pauses for a second, he goes, "Oh, yeah, this Hasselblad. Hold on, give me one second, real quick."

• 12:54Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, uh, it looks like it just got to us today and we'll be shipping out to you tomorrow.

• 12:58Andrew Manganelli?

  Cap.

• 12:59David Imel?

Yeah, there's no way that happened.

• 13:01Speaker 01

  What?

• 13:01David Imel?

They forgot about you, Marquez. They forgot about your order.

• 13:04Speaker 01

Sure enough, yesterday it shipped, today it arrived.

• 13:06David Imel?

  They forgot about your order.

• 13:07Speaker 01

  So...

• 13:08David Imel?

  Hundred percent.

• 13:09Speaker 01

  Either...

• 13:09Andrew Manganelli?

All you have to do is call this whole time?

• 13:12Speaker 01

Either it was an unbelievable coincidence, or they have it set up to where these are very, very backordered, but if you don't call, they just don't prioritize you. But if you do call, then they'll front you in the queue, and maybe if they recognize your name, they put you at the top of the list or something. But like, I called and they're, "Oh yeah, yeah, shipping tomorrow." That sounded incredibly suspicious to me.

• 13:35Andrew Manganelli?

  I guess they forgot.

• 13:37Speaker 01

How do you forget? They've never forgotten an order from me in my life.

• 13:39Andrew Manganelli?

  Well, honestly...

• 13:40David Imel?

They don't even take orders on Saturdays.

• 13:42Andrew Manganelli?

  To be fair.

• 13:43David Imel?

Online. You can't even order something on Saturday.

• 13:45Speaker 01

But they've been sending me those automated, backordered, please wait emails. So they had it in the system. It was just a matter of...

• 13:53Andrew Manganelli?

Truthfully, I would, I guess I was saying, I don't think they have the priority queue. My guess is if it was a mistake, they forgot. I actually weirdly believe that it was a coincidence.

• 14:02Speaker 01

  I, my first thought is...

• 14:03Andrew Manganelli?

B&J has been so good with us.

• 14:04Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, they're right across the river. Every time I order something, the next day it shows up. Like, if it's in stock, it shows up super fast. This is a rare, high-demand, backordered item with like, reviews trickling in from people getting it, and I was just like, when am I gonna get mine?

• 14:16Andrew Manganelli?

And people being scared it might not come because of the DJI.

• 14:20Speaker 01

Yeah, Hostile Blood, for those who don't know, is owned by DJI, and there's at least some sort of DJI ban on new products, but this is not a new product. It's six months old, as we know, so the ban's coming up on now, but the product is not new anymore, so it was confusing. But hey, that's my update. It showed up. I took it out the box today.

• 14:38David Imel?

  Oh, so it came in?

• 14:39Speaker 01

  It, it came in.

• 14:39David Imel?

Oh, literally like 20 minutes ago?

• 14:41Speaker 01

  I unboxed 20 minutes ago.

• 14:41David Imel?

  Nice.

• 14:43Andrew Manganelli?

He literally unboxed it and then is like, "All right, I'm ready to pop," and walked in the room.

• 14:46Speaker 01

I just had to open it and look at it and be like, "All right, it's really here." Yes.

• 14:51David Imel?

  Very nice.

• 14:52Speaker 01

  Very nice.

• 14:52Andrew Manganelli?

  I have a quick thing.

• 14:53Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 14:54Andrew Manganelli?

Nothing pers- well, it's kinda personal.

• 14:56Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 14:56Andrew Manganelli?

It's not really that personal. This happened. We recorded Wednesday, like, two weeks ago. This got released on Thursday. Our episode came out Friday, but we missed it. But people in our, in our Discord were

• 15:07Speaker 01

upset that we didn't talk about it.

• 15:09Andrew Manganelli?

They weren't upset. They were just like, "Look what happened. Look what happened." Android QPR 3 Beta 1 is allowing Pixel users to toggle off Adaglance on your home screen.

• 15:20Speaker 01

  They finally did it.

• 15:23Speaker 01

  Go.

• 15:23Andrew Manganelli?

Oh, it's the best thing ever.

• 15:26Speaker 01

Yeah, man. This would be the biggest news of the day. There was a If I was still dailying the Pixel.

• 15:30Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 15:31Speaker 01

There was like a, there was a Reddit post a few weeks ago that was like, "Why hasn't the Waveform Podcast talked about how you can't toggle off the Adaglance?" And I was like, "Okay, we have talked about this so many times, first of all. Second of all, it is gonna happen in like a week."

• 15:45Andrew Manganelli?

  What was that?

• 15:45Speaker 01

  You gotta read the news.

• 15:46Andrew Manganelli?

There was very specifically like, "Why didn't they talk about this?" And all the comments were like, "Andrew, [bleep] talk about this every time."

• 15:54Speaker 01

Every other week. He actually hasn't stopped talking about it.

• 15:57Andrew Manganelli?

  Every week as a counter.

• 15:59Speaker 01

Yeah. Yeah, that's incredible. Well, shout out to the Pixel Dailyers out there. All right. So it's 2026. What's happening in 2026? First item I would consider, bad news.

• 16:09Andrew Manganelli?

  No.

• 16:10Speaker 01

But it is, uh, the ROG Phone and the Zen Phone are no more, at least for 2026.

• 16:16Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 16:16Speaker 01

They're not discontinued, but they're not going to do a new one for 2026.

• 16:20Andrew Manganelli?

The headlines are great at baiting this.

• 16:23Speaker 01

  Pretty grim.

• 16:24Andrew Manganelli?

It was like the Zen Phone and ROG Phone are discontinued in 2026.

• 16:29Speaker 01

That's not what they're gonna do. It's almost like, uh, when a player is suspended with no definitive return date. Indefinitely. Yeah, indefinitely. It's an indefinite thing. So it's like, oh, for 2026, it's not going back. But they're not saying there is a 2027. We're just gonna have to play it by ear. And the Zen Phone was effectively canceled. Like, they made this new Zen Phone Ultra last year, and it was not even close to the same type of thing. Yeah. So, yeah, down goes that. Down goes ROG Phone. Right as they were kind of becoming a mainstream phone, they were kind of like taking the teeth out of it and it was sort of a gaming-ish. Maybe they just saw that the ROG conversion to a normie phone did not work. Maybe that's what they were seeing.

• 17:12Speaker 01

It was kind of, you know how eventually every enthusiast's device becomes the opposite of what you want? Yeah. It was kind of that. Like, it was very much the gaming phone for a while, and then they decided they wanted to sell it to more people and they kind of added wireless charging and made the screen on the back a little smaller and a little bit softer and a little bit less aggressive and suddenly it's just a phone. Yeah. And so those people who wanted the gaming phone didn't buy it, but people who wanted a regular phone weren't about to go get an ROG phone, so it just kind of fizzled. And now here we are. When you're for everyone, you're for no one. That's what they say. That's bars.

• 17:46Speaker 04

I thought it was if you stand for nothing, then what will you fall for?

• 17:50Speaker 01

Also bars. I'd fall for you.

• 17:54Speaker 01

If everyone is good, then no one is good.

• 17:58Speaker 01

  No? True, yeah, I guess.

• 17:59David Imel?

  Speaking of pickles.

• 18:03Speaker 01

I'm just saying, I think what I said is a real quote. All right, what happened with this pickle?

• 18:06David Imel?

Do you want to get into the pickle?

• 18:08Speaker 01

This is a big thing. I am aware of the pickle situation solely by, I can't believe I said this sentence. I'm aware of the pickle situation solely by like a handful of tweets.

• 18:20Speaker 01

All I've seen is first, there was an announcement of a new AR headset, glasses headset, called Pickle, at pickle.com. Yeah. And it had this really long, like, five-minute hype video about how this is a computer for the soul and it was this full, you know, AR experience with this wide field of view and 12-hour battery life and all this amazing stuff. And I'm being tagged constantly in comments about it.

• 18:47David Imel?

  Oh, are you?

• 18:48Speaker 01

Marquez, Marquez, Marquez, Marquez, look at this thing, this is probably not real. And so I went ahead to pickle.com and placed my preorder.

• 18:58Speaker 01

Because I'm the type of person that gives it the benefit of the doubt. I understand the, what's the opposite of that? When you're like, uh.

• 19:07Andrew Manganelli?

  You don't believe something?

• 19:08Speaker 01

Cynical. I'm, I, I understand the cynical version of this, which is this is fake. This is a scam. I don't believe anything that's coming out of these people's mouths, but.

• 19:16Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 19:16Speaker 01

I'm, uh, I'm supposed to be giving everything a fair shot. I'm a tech reviewer. Why go preorder an Apple product and then not go preorder the pickle product? Which could be, which could be.

• 19:26Andrew Manganelli?

  Maybe because of the name?

• 19:27Speaker 01

Could be awesome, right? So I watched the video. It looks really interesting. It's a technology I think would be really cool. I preorder, right? I give them my money. I think it's like $200.

• 19:34Andrew Manganelli?

Before you get to that, do you want me to do? I have like a rundown of what the glasses are. Yeah, yeah, let me.

• 19:39Speaker 01

Yeah, you can give like the high levels.

• 19:41Andrew Manganelli?

I'm gonna try and go pretty quick here.

• 19:43Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 19:43Andrew Manganelli?

Also, why it's called, do you know why it's called? No.

• 19:46Speaker 01

  Clever, I guess.

• 19:47Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay, so, let's see.

• 19:50Andrew Manganelli?

This launched on January 1st. The, the video that kind of went around and it was making its rounds on Twitter all over the place. Partially because Twitter is like super optimistic about any tech that they could pretend to invest in. And also really cynical about tech because of people like Humane that just scammed a bunch of people. So these glasses, they're, they're AR glasses. They call them a soul computer, whatever the [bleep] that means. And like, the easiest way to describe them is do you know those like silver Oakley 90s sunglasses? Like, imagine those without a bottom, like the, the, they're really sleek looking, pretty modern. They kind of have like two black boxes for some sort of sensor presumably on the side, but they're very small, very sleek.

• 20:36Andrew Manganelli?

So, uh, they claim that in this video they released, they kind of do a keynote, sort of keynote presentation about what they are. They claim they're 68 grams. They claim they have one of the widest field of views and brightnesses designed for everyday life. It shows examples of how it might be used. Maybe you're like looking at designs on cookies or you're looking at a guitar on how to play a certain song. And it's showing the things in your field of view. They then say it's the lightest personal computer in history. Remember that line later. And it's AI focused, but in this way that's like, it wants to ask you questions before you would ask it questions.

• 21:17Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 21:18Andrew Manganelli?

So the examples they used were like you, your plane lands and you get your baggage and you're like walking out to the door. And it's like, do you want me to call you a rideshare? Or um, what was the other one they said? Uh, oh, it's like, she's about to throw out this toy. And it's like, no, look at all these pictures of blah, blah, blah. That's their favorite toy. Like, don't do that. Bad. Um, cause that's, parents need to AI to tell them what toy their kid's favorite is.

• 21:45Andrew Manganelli?

And so, yeah, they show like a live demo where this, their big thing is all this AI is behind these like avatars, which there was like a cat, there was a music note, there was some like anime girl, there's a lot of weird things, but I didn't think that was the weirdest part of it, honestly. Um, and then they have something called Pickle OS, which is a memory-based operating system where it seems along the lines of it, like, it watches what you're doing and creates these like memory bubbles that then go to Pickle OS. And then you can go to like pickle.com and go to Pickle OS there. And there's this like huge web of like memory bubbles. And then the AI in that will use those as context.

• 22:26David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 22:26Andrew Manganelli?

  It felt.

• 22:27David Imel?

Sounds like the Rabbit OS thing.

• 22:29Andrew Manganelli?

  It's, I thought it sounded like a.

• 22:31David Imel?

  Rabbit hole.

• 22:31Andrew Manganelli?

  A rabbit hole.

• 22:32David Imel?

  Because of the online portal.

• 22:33Speaker 01

Yeah. I think the thing that got me about this was the idea of augmenting slash improving human life in general. And, and doing it through something that you wear. So you're always wearing it and it's always collecting information. It requires something that can last all day and actually that you wear all day. So I don't know if you saw Razor at CES just announced a, an AR slash AI. Heads. Heads, headset of headphones with cameras on them.

• 23:03David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 23:04Speaker 01

And it's like, they can still see what's in front of you. And then you have all these experiences and it has a longer battery life because it's headphones and all that. But it's like, I'm not going to walk around wearing massive headphones all day. So this is a pair of glasses that theoretically someone might want to actually wear all day. And so it collects your memories all day and it can help you out with the AR display in your field of view all day. Which is like an interesting idea for a product.

• 23:30Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, that's what everyone wants to do right now. Everyone wants to be your memory.

• 23:33Speaker 01

But you might also remember the AR glasses that I reviewed, or at least showed from Meta, have like a three-hour battery life or something like that. Like, there's no way those would last all day. They're also a little too heavy to wear all day. So Pickle comes along. This is a company we've never heard of, with a bunch of people we've never seen before, that are claiming all these world's firsts, and a 12-hour battery life, and being lighter than anything we've ever seen. So it comes across really hard to believe, but it's still an interesting idea for a product. That's where I landed with it.

• 24:04Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, and so it's going to be $1,400, but there's a, like, early adopter $900 preorder right now, with a refundable $200 deposit.

• 24:16Speaker 01

  That's me.

• 24:17Andrew Manganelli?

They're claiming batch two should be out by Q4 2026. So that's a pretty...

• 24:23Speaker 01

  In a year.

• 24:24Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, that's optimistic.

• 24:26Speaker 01

It's both optimistic and annoyingly far out. Like, I've talked about products just being announced way before they're done. Like, this is one of those things. Like, when I talked about the Neo robot, it was the same thing. "Oh, well, we need all this data and all this AI collection and all this stuff, but we can't get that unless it's in people's homes, so we just have to announce this and then just hope it starts working and gathering info and starts becoming good." This isn't even ready to start shipping yet, so they're announcing all these capabilities and this awesome thing.

• 24:53Andrew Manganelli?

They're claiming batch one's coming out by Q2, which is great.

• 24:57Speaker 01

Very small. A couple of months from now, it'll start shipping, but it's like, what do I have to base my either cynicism or optimism off of? Just the videos.

• 25:05Andrew Manganelli?

Well, and that kind of becomes one of the issues here, is this turns into this gigantic Twitter argument, which I don't really feel like getting into, because Twitter arguments are never worth getting into.

• 25:17Speaker 01

I can summarize it pretty fast.

• 25:18Andrew Manganelli?

I mean, basically what it boils down to is somebody taking all the things that they claimed and showing why that's not possible, to then the CEO of Pickle, writing this manifesto-esque document, like, trying to rebuttal everything.

• 25:33Speaker 01

  Huge tweet.

• 25:34Andrew Manganelli?

Which, the TLDR of all of it is...

• 25:38Andrew Manganelli?

There's no way you can have this battery life. There's no way you can have this type of compute. There's no way you can have this lightness, to which they basically respond, "Well, yeah, but all of it is attached to your phone, which is, which does all the computing, and that's how we can accept all of this."

• 25:50Speaker 01

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, what?

• 25:52Andrew Manganelli?

  Yep, exactly.

• 25:54Speaker 01

  With a cable?

• 25:55Andrew Manganelli?

Not a cable. It is wireless. But your phone is doing all the computing. Apparently, the cameras are really low quality. They're not meant for really capturing things. They're meant for seeing things in context, which that whole memory sphere thing makes no sense now, because it would all...

• 26:08Speaker 01

  Not quite.

• 26:09Andrew Manganelli?

It can use context, but like, I want to see my little bubbles in PickleOS.

• 26:13Speaker 01

So, okay, yeah, I think the general...

• 26:15Andrew Manganelli?

  New sentence.

• 26:16Speaker 01

  The...

• 26:19Speaker 01

The general vibe that I got was this guy, I forgot his name, but this guy on Twitter being like, "Hey, pickle people, you are overpromising." That's what he's saying. "You're overpromising." And he goes through all of the ways that they're overpromising. And then I read the, like, response, basically, from this, I guess, CEO, which goes through all the ways that he's talking about how they're not overpromising. One of them was on battery life. He's like, "You're overpromising. 12-hour battery life is insane. Meta's getting three hours. How are you gonna promise this?" And the response was essentially, "We are still getting, like, three to four hours of active AR use on the display, but in between, we are getting a longer standby life, because we're using a dual-chip architecture. We have a high-power chip for all the AR stuff, and then a low-power background chip. This has been proven in wearables before.

• 27:03Speaker 01

We have a low-power standby mode, and then we have a high-power in-use mode. So it's gonna be able to last 12 hours, because the low-power chip runs in between all the AR use, and the mixed use will still get you three to four hours of AR." That was his response. The other thing about overpromising was, like, field of view. He's like, "Well, how are you gonna get 30 degrees of field of view if Meta's only getting 20?" To which, the builder basically replies, "Just because Meta's done 20 doesn't mean 30 is impossible." Well, fine.

• 27:30Andrew Manganelli?

And to be fair, the guy said 30 is possible, but it just doesn't seem like with the specs and lightness and everything that they're using, it does not seem possible.

• 27:38Speaker 01

And so, basically, it just kinda goes down the list, one by one, of this guy going, "You're overpromising," and then the CEO going, "Well, we're making it, so..."

• 27:47Speaker 01

That's gonna have to be the proof, is them actually shipping what they claim. But the one thing that seems the most disputed is their website and a lot of the claims in the videos used to say that this was a standalone device where you just buy the glasses and they do the thing. And now their website and a lot of the claims sort of rest on the fact that this is actually not a standalone device. It relies on your phone, it connects to your phone, you use this phone for your setup, and then it constantly uses the phone for a lot of other things. That's the main thing that I think they're caught with, that they have to admit now. Great.

• 28:18Andrew Manganelli?

Well, because in the video, they never claim it connects to a phone. He calls it a "personal supercomputer" multiple times.

• 28:25Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 28:25Andrew Manganelli?

And then like, he, on the website, this is the original thing, it said, "Do I need a smartphone to use Pickle One?" It says, "Pickle One is a standalone device, but pairs with PickleOS app on iOS and Android for initial setup, data management, and granular privacy control."

• 28:40Speaker 01

Which infers that it does not need your phone after you set it up.

• 28:44Andrew Manganelli?

But then his way of explaining, yeah, like, that it needs, or his way of explaining how it can do so much of this stuff on a long battery life and be so light is because so much compute is coming from your phone. And now they've gone, there's this weird bet they have going on with it, it's all, don't read it, it's not worth it.

• 29:01Speaker 01

But like, on the camera thing though that you mentioned, which is interesting, he talks a lot in that huge tweet about how much power and how much extra hardware it takes to do high-quality video and photo recording, like the Meta glasses do, like everyone uses that for first-person video. Those big, heavy sensors and all the compute for processing to do that are not in this. This is like a low-powered, a low-res camera that has enough information to see what's going on in front of you, but isn't like a high-quality recording for your memory.

• 29:31Andrew Manganelli?

This is also a standout about why this video felt weird, because at a point in it, it claims to do a live demo. What you would assume is coming because he's doing it in front of the cameras and then it's showing his point of view seeing the cameras. But the quality is fairly good.

• 29:48David Imel?

  It's produced, yeah.

• 29:49Andrew Manganelli?

Which basically proves that it's not a live demo.

• 29:52Speaker 03

Didn't he admit that everything in the video was done in After Effects?

• 29:55Andrew Manganelli?

Oh, did he? Oh, I missed that. Okay, so that's not a live demo.

• 29:59David Imel?

  Yeah. But the

• 30:00Speaker 01

Which is the thing is like you can't, you, it's very difficult to record what you would actually see in a way that replicates like what the human eye would. Which is why when we did the meta glasses, we used an overlay and then we had to take a separate recording and then overlay the G, the UI over the recording. It was like a whole thing.

• 30:20Andrew Manganelli?

But on the others, but he's using the, it makes it seem like he's using the cameras from the glasses to look forward and then they would overlay with After Effects.

• 30:29David Imel?

  Definitely.

• 30:29Andrew Manganelli?

I don't think he's even using those cameras because the quality was higher grade than what he's claiming.

• 30:34Speaker 01

Yeah, a lot of misleading stuff in that demo.

• 30:37Andrew Manganelli?

  It's a million red flags.

• 30:38Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 30:39David Imel?

Yeah, it just seems like everyone is trying to figure out the way to make the right context computer. And I, I can, if, if it is actually like low resolution video that you don't really need to watch, but it just gets context about your life. That's what they're trying to do here, but it is confusing and misleading when all of the assets on the website, all of the assets that they post on Twitter. Are these videos that show this like high quality, like, oh, here's all this data coming in on the side and it's this video of your life in the Piccolo S website. Shows you your actual memories of your kids and everything you're doing and that's just not what it's doing.

• 31:14Speaker 01

I think, I guess the challenge is trying to illustrate what the human eye will see.

• 31:19David Imel?

  Right.

• 31:19Speaker 01

So the human eye will see high quality, real world and then an overlay on top of it.

• 31:23David Imel?

  Right.

• 31:24Speaker 01

But the captures from the cameras will not be high quality.

• 31:28Andrew Manganelli?

  Which is fine.

• 31:28Speaker 01

Which is fine, but they're not distinguishing that. They're just making a pretty video.

• 31:32David Imel?

And it makes the Piccolo S website a little confusing because like what are you, when you have those memory bubbles, what are you actually going to see?

• 31:39Andrew Manganelli?

So I think it, it wants to be the context for the, the AI chatbot in there of that it can then use the context of your life.

• 31:48David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 31:48Andrew Manganelli?

But when I first see that, I think to myself like, whoa, I can see all these memories, which I can, but they're just gonna be in. Very low quality.

• 31:55Speaker 01

Have you tried the OS on the website?

• 31:57Andrew Manganelli?

I don't, it says like, sign up with your Google account and then I didn't really know what to do with it. Because I don't have anything to do. There's one other Twitter response, kind of, where apparently in November, they had had a like, really, really small event where you could like, a demo event, yeah. And so, somebody had responded to an old tweet of someone saying they were there, and the person who was there named Will said, "The demo didn't work and the displays were not in the units." Daniel Park, the CEO, says, "I'm sorry, it didn't work for you. It did work for about 90% of the participants." And then the guy responds, "90% is definitely a stretch for the demo day feedback. I went with a group of four people out of 30 participants.

• 32:40Andrew Manganelli?

One of my friends arrived early, the other three of us arrived later. The demo room had like 15 people, and I didn't meet a single person who could share an experience trying it out." And then he says, "Not a huge issue. You guys are moving fast. Super excited."

• 32:51Speaker 01

  So. What?

• 32:52Andrew Manganelli?

But I don't, it just feels weird that he's like, "Oh, it was a network issue. Why it wasn't working early on, but like, everyone else got it to work." And he's like, "But I was the one later and it just didn't have displays and it didn't work at all."

• 33:02Speaker 01

Yeah, those early demos are cooked. Same thing with Rabbit, right?

• 33:04Andrew Manganelli?

  This is like.

• 33:05Speaker 01

Those old days of Rabbit demos? Yeah. Yeah. That just did not work because they're like, "We're doing it live." It looks like the, so you can try the website, which I guess is just trying it without actually using anything, but. No memories. You have to, you connect your Gmail, your Google Calendar, your Slack, your Notion, your chat, your Claude, your granola, your Fireflies, your Fathom, your T L.

• 33:25Andrew Manganelli?

It has a bunch of third-party connections you can do, like to be part of the context of your life.

• 33:31Speaker 01

Yeah. At least that, at least they figured that out early.

• 33:34Andrew Manganelli?

  Maybe.

• 33:35Speaker 01

  You know what I mean?

• 33:36Andrew Manganelli?

Or it's all on the website.

• 33:37Speaker 01

That's the sad part about all of this is I actually, I kind of like the idea of like, thinking about what could the post-smartphone personal computer be? And all of these early examples we're seeing are all pretty bad. Yeah. Like, if you go all the way back to the Humane Pin, which is trying to be a post-smartphone personal computer with AI context awareness, blah, blah, blah, or even the Rabbit, or even the, whatever other stuff I have on my desk that I bought that I haven't tried yet, which is like a, a personal assistant that you wear on your neck, like a neck. Necklace, all these glasses.

• 34:05David Imel?

I needed to try the friends.

• 34:06Speaker 01

Like, the most impressive tech demos I've seen have been from the Meta ones because of the literal field of view and image overlaid over the real world. Like, that was pretty cool. But still, like, I don't want to wear those every day. It's kind of heavy. It only has a 3-hour battery life. So at this point, it's still only just been interesting slices of like how that world could look. Just, oh, what if it was glasses? Oh, what if it was a pin? Ooh, what if it was a necklace? Oh, what if it had really cool displays? And I think we're gonna see a Google thing, maybe like smart glasses this year. Like, we're gonna start to slowly see bigger companies try more and more complete products. And I still have a little bit of cynicism from the old stuff, but I'm trying to be optimistic. I'm trying to give it a chance, give it a fair shot. So when the complete product does come along, I'll be ready.

• 34:51David Imel?

What if it was your phone?

• 34:54Speaker 01

  Well, that's where I'm at.

• 34:55Andrew Manganelli?

The supercomputer and like all those examples was still just your phone?

• 35:00Speaker 01

I ended the humane video with like, the smartphone is so good. It's, it's OP. It fits in my pocket. It's kind of like if we didn't have smartphones, we would be trying to invent something that we could just like slide in our pocket. And we take out this little box that has cameras and supercomputers and an internet connection and awareness of everything you do and who you talk to. It's just fun.

• 35:17Andrew Manganelli?

And then you crumpled it back up and put it in your pocket?

• 35:18Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 35:19David Imel?

I just think that, like, people do not want to have to use and wear additional stuff that they wouldn't already be using on their daily, in their daily life.

• 35:29Speaker 01

  Yeah, the wearing is hard.

• 35:30David Imel?

The reason the Meta glasses make a lot of sense is because you're just buying Ray-Bans. And then you use them, and then they have additional properties.

• 35:37Speaker 01

  And you charge them sometimes.

• 35:38David Imel?

Yeah, you charge them. And people use, they use sunglasses. If you're, you get the ones that have prescriptions, they're just smart, regular glasses. Like, that makes the most sense. The pins and stuff make less sense because people don't want to keep sticking an additional product on themselves every day.

• 35:55Andrew Manganelli?

I feel like I would almost argue the opposite, that a pin as a non-glasses wear. I don't want to wear fake glasses during the day.

• 36:03David Imel?

That becomes the, the question is like, if you don't have glasses, like, how does it work?

• 36:07Andrew Manganelli?

Which I think a lot of people don't have glasses. We're all not [bleep] nerds. So I think.

• 36:13David Imel?

Right out the womb 2020. Look at me.

• 36:16Speaker 01

I mean, I do, but you know, um, so I don't know, these, these are very high fashion. And in a way, I'm like, if they, it would, it would be better for them if they were more mass market, but then they wouldn't stand out as much because there are a lot of smart glasses that are just black box glasses.

• 36:31Speaker 03

No, these look sick, bro. Picture walking down the street wearing these, sipping a sobe water. That's what I see.

• 36:37Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 36:37Speaker 04

  Honestly, yes.

• 36:38Andrew Manganelli?

  With your roller blades.

• 36:40Speaker 03

Yeah, these things look dope as hell.

• 36:42Speaker 01

In New York City, this would, this would work. This would bang. All the, all the videos are of the like aluminum, like silver version. There is, there is a black version, which looks a little less, uh, Less hype. Standout-ish.

• 36:52Speaker 04

I have a question, speaking of the videos.

• 36:53Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 36:54Speaker 04

If this had more realistic videos and pictures showing what you can expect, do you think people would have reacted as badly? Cause I think a lot of the marketing departments of these startups are trying to like do Apple-like keynotes and demos, where if they were just like honest with like this cool new technology we're working on, I think people would still be excited about it.

• 37:12Speaker 01

So I would say it depends on what you mean by more realistic. So I do agree, like the over present, like the super almost pretentious vibe of a lot of these is really a put off for a lot of people. So even if you do kind of like the product, you don't want to buy into it because it seems so silly. But a more realistic demo of a theoretically perfect version of a future version of your product is kind of this already? Like kind of the same as, I don't know, trying to, what's a realistic version?

• 37:42Andrew Manganelli?

I, I was thinking of this is like, he's, he went on and tweeted a bunch about how they're this like really small team that's actually just working in like his garage, which is like, okay, yeah. Every single SF company ever did that. But like, if this was just some videos of literally just like the team and a bunch of toolboxes in a garage, the demo thing, thing was like in the garage. So like, if that's what it was, instead of this like super produced, they had like Dolly cameras and everything and they're making it like really intense.

• 38:11Speaker 01

And he's wearing like an all black suit.

• 38:12Andrew Manganelli?

And he was just like, hey, this is something we're working on. We're calling it pickle. If you want to be in early. If it felt more Kickstarter than...

• 38:19Speaker 01

Yeah, I think it's because inherently, these videos have to sell a whole bunch of people on being an early adopter and getting in and helping to make the product actually be good.

• 38:29David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 38:29Speaker 01

And so, yeah, this is the... This is what makes it hard. Because a product can't be good without people being sold on the vision. It's almost like, I'm gonna get so much crap for this, it's like Bitcoin. Like Bitcoin is useless. It's useless, but if enough people believe, then that actually makes it potentially useful. And then a bunch of people will go, "Oh, I'll accept Bitcoin." Like, if I'm a vendor who doesn't accept Bitcoin, I will not accept Bitcoin until enough people believe in Bitcoin and want to pay me with Bitcoin that it makes no sense for me not to accept Bitcoin. So there needs to be some movement of people excited about the thing that's useless.

• 39:07David Imel?

I mean, it's kind of the reason that everyone was getting mad at you for like, you know, saying, "This product does not exist," and you're hyping all this stuff. And then everyone came out of San Francisco saying like, "Well, the product doesn't start good, it will get good, but people have to believe in it." And it's like, okay.

• 39:24Andrew Manganelli?

  It's like Santa.

• 39:25David Imel?

It's just that we exist in a different...

• 39:27Andrew Manganelli?

  What do you mean?

• 39:27David Imel?

  Era.

• 39:29Andrew Manganelli?

  What do you mean?

• 39:29David Imel?

Wait, what does that mean? Santa.

• 39:31Speaker 01

  Santa's real.

• 39:32Andrew Manganelli?

You have to believe in it.

• 39:33David Imel?

Oh, okay. We just exist in a different era now where because all software is ever evolving and you don't buy finished versions of anything ever, people's expectations, even when they're building stuff now, is like, "Oh, we're gonna ship a 1.0, we're gonna improve it over time."

• 39:49Speaker 01

  We have an MVP.

• 39:50David Imel?

Yeah, and then because of that, they need to get people to buy it, but like, they can't.

• 39:56Speaker 01

Yeah. This is an ad, is the bottom line.

• 39:58David Imel?

They... There's a reason that every single launch on Twitter is like, is like a little trailer, movie trailer now. Because that's the way that marketing has changed, is they have to like, make it seem really, really high quality and done, so that people actually buy it, so that they can make the product.

• 40:14Andrew Manganelli?

It's crazy that we have to be like... Our launch has to make it look like this is real.

• 40:20Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 40:22David Imel?

Sell you on the future, future, future version that's actually good, which is only possible if you believe us.

• 40:28Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 40:28David Imel?

And you all get in now.

• 40:29Speaker 03

And they already got money. I don't know how much their funding was, but it's like, picture, you, you already got the funding. Why do you need to secure?

• 40:38Andrew Manganelli?

  Because those.

• 40:39David Imel?

Because the investors need the money back.

• 40:42Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 40:43David Imel?

I mean, they're already, they are working with Qualcomm officially. Sasha Seegan that is on the Snapdragon team tweeted that they are working with them. So they do have the money and Qualcomm will not work with you unless you got money.

• 40:56Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 40:56David Imel?

So they clearly got funding. So.

• 40:59Speaker 03

Remember, uh, this is going to sound crazy because normally I'm the one who's like, sound of the alarm. This product's not real. It's not coming out. But I was thinking about when we went to California to try the Orion glasses. Remember? And I remember that was a product demonstration that really felt like ground floor. You know, you were wearing these kind of awkward wires and it, it was kind of like bloomy and the, the resolution was bad. And they sat us down with these engineers who were so open about all the problems they had to like overcome to make that thing work.

• 41:39Speaker 03

And then we got to try it and it did work and it really felt like this experience of like, wow, this is a really hard space to build in. This is something that's going to require a considerable amount of effort, knowledge and money. And it's really cool to get to see the ground floor. And then two. A preview. Well, and then two weeks later, we tried the snap spec, the snap. Spectacles. The snap spectacles. And they were way better in every single way. And I remember talking to the person that.

• 42:05Andrew Manganelli?

  Not every.

• 42:05David Imel?

  Some ways.

• 42:06Speaker 03

What ways were they not better?

• 42:07Andrew Manganelli?

They're way bulkier and the field of view is so much like, it was like.

• 42:11David Imel?

  Super low resolution.

• 42:12Andrew Manganelli?

  Bad field of.

• 42:13Speaker 03

I remember the resolution on the snap, the snap one was had better resolution.

• 42:16Andrew Manganelli?

  It had better.

• 42:17Speaker 03

And the colors were better. And even though they were, they were definitely bulkier, I didn't find them.

• 42:22Andrew Manganelli?

The field of view is so bad.

• 42:24David Imel?

I want to bring them in.

• 42:25Speaker 03

But was it that much worse than the Orion?

• 42:27Andrew Manganelli?

It was like, everything was getting cut off.

• 42:29David Imel?

I couldn't play a game of something in front of me because my peripherals were completely cut off. I tried to play a golf game and yeah.

• 42:35Speaker 03

I would have, I remember coming away from that and talking to the snap representative and being like.

• 42:42Speaker 03

You know, we just talked to the Meta boys.

• 42:44David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 42:44Speaker 03

And they said that they had to overcome all of these really difficult problems. And it doesn't seem like you guys are having those same problems. You've just showed us this really great product. And he was essentially like, yeah, skill issue.

• 42:55David Imel?

Well, remember when the Snapchat guy came? He specifically said, we, the reason that is hard for Meta is because they care about field of view. We think that field of view is not gonna matter.

• 43:04Speaker 03

  I do remember that.

• 43:05David Imel?

And that's why we went with high resolution in a smaller field of view. And we believe that they're like chasing the wrong problem. Whereas Meta fully believes that field of view is the most important thing. Which I would, I kinda am in Meta's court.

• 43:19Speaker 01

I'm in Meta's court on that.

• 43:21Speaker 03

I just remember leaving that, that whole.

• 43:22Speaker 01

Never want to say that line.

• 43:23David Imel?

  Me neither. I hate myself.

• 43:26Speaker 01

  Sorry.

• 43:27David Imel?

  Yeah, go ahead.

• 43:28Speaker 01

Worst person you know makes a good point.

• 43:31Speaker 03

I just remember coming away from that whole experience, you know, being like, I have no idea how this stuff actually works. And I don't know what is difficult and what is easy. So when I saw the pickle thing, I was like, I'll wait and see.

• 43:43Speaker 01

Yeah. I will say to the, to Meta's credit, like, we see all these really polished, pretty ads on Twitter. And we're like, oh, this doesn't seem very realistic. But if you remember when Zuck went on stage with the Orion prototype, he was like, this is a thing we're working on. It's not a finished product, but like, this is how far we've gotten so far, and we have a long way to go.

• 44:02David Imel?

And we're not selling it yet.

• 44:03Speaker 01

That's about what I would hope to see from like an honest, like, presentation of the thing that's not going to be sold.

• 44:09David Imel?

Well, that, yeah, that's when he was like, we're not selling this yet. It's at least a year out. And then they did a live demo with the Ray-Ban displays that famously went horribly wrong.

• 44:19Speaker 01

  Really poorly.

• 44:19David Imel?

So, you know, to Meta's credit, it hurts to say, but, you know, they gave a very fair expectation of what the actual product was, when it was shipping, how much it was going to cost.

• 44:30Speaker 01

  And what it can do.

• 44:31David Imel?

And, you know, to be fair, they can do that because they don't need funding. They have unlimited money.

• 44:36Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 44:36David Imel?

Whereas all these other companies need a lot of funding, so they have to lie to you, basically. And I don't, I don't believe that these things are not going to come out. I think they're gonna come out. I just think that they're kinda gonna be like the humane AI pen where the actual experience is horrible.

• 44:50Speaker 01

Until like some theoretical, down the road, future version could maybe be better.

• 44:54David Imel?

Which probably won't happen because not a lot of people are gonna buy in if the initial product is bad.

• 44:57Speaker 01

Yeah. I guess this lands on that place that we always land on with this stuff, which is don't buy a product based on the promise of future updates.

• 45:05David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 45:06Speaker 01

If the product is good enough at launch. That should be the thing you're comfortable buying. The hardest part for you and for me is to figure out how good the product actually is in the face of all the ads that we're seeing that seem to paint it as this amazing thing. That's why reviewers exist. That's why we're going to show you how good the product actually is. Don't buy the product based on the promise of the future.

• 45:26David Imel?

Yeah, there's a bit of a paradox because the second gen is always like way better than the first gen and is usually cheaper, but in order to get to a second gen.

• 45:36Speaker 01

It requires people to buy the first gen.

• 45:39David Imel?

Yeah, which is usually based on the early adopter tax, except there's just so many products coming out that are bad now that not even early adopters want to spend their money on this thing.

• 45:50Speaker 04

I mean, you know what this kind of reminds me of? Complete tangent, but Walt Disney, when he was launching the theme park, hyped up the building of the theme park on ABC for like two years with a bunch of episodes. And then the day that it opened, there was a bunch of problems with the park, but people that went still really enjoyed it and it like exploded in popularity.

• 46:08David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 46:08Speaker 04

And that's kind of what we need more of in tech, like things like that. Like, show me the process of building it so that I could get excited about it. That way, when the product comes out, even if it's not like the best thing ever, I understand where we are. I understand, like I'm an educated person.

• 46:22David Imel?

This is what I'm saying. Like everyone on Twitter is doing, is doing, your expectation should be up here and then reality is going to be way down here. I would love if someone went on Twitter and they were just like, this is what we have. It's, you know, but like.

• 46:41Speaker 04

When they were building Disneyland, like that was when you could actually watch someone, like no one's going to have fun watching like a 12 part YouTube series where it's like co-pilot, make AR glasses now.

• 46:50David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 46:50Speaker 04

  I would love that.

• 46:51Speaker 01

I think the hardest part is making a product that you can sell that is already good enough that people at least like it. Like getting to the point of like working on Disneyland for two years to the point where it's not done yet, but it's still enjoyable to people. That is very meaningful that it was actually still enjoyable to people. Getting the product that you launched to actually be good enough to be enjoyable will get people to stick around for the ride for it to get better.

• 47:16David Imel?

It makes me think about Pebble. Because, number one, when they relaunched all the Pebbles, it was just the same Pebble from like 15 years ago, with, you know, and it's slightly better in different ways. And then when they launched the Ring a couple of weeks ago, you could buy it then. It was $75. It's shipping like soon. So like, it was already completed product. You know what you're getting. Eric went on and said, this is exactly what it does. He wasn't making any promises for what it could do in the future. I feel like, I would love if more companies launched products like that. Yeah, lower expectations.

• 47:48Speaker 01

It's 2026. We could see some of that.

• 47:50David Imel?

  Come on, baby.

• 47:51Andrew Manganelli?

There's also a rumor that they paid $1.2 million for pickle.com.

• 47:55Speaker 04

  Worth it.

• 47:56Andrew Manganelli?

Not worth it. Yeah, just like friend. This is why, that's my biggest red flag is stop spending so much money on a website.

• 48:02Speaker 01

Did they ever explain why it's called pickle? No one knows why it's called pickle, right? The logo is like, kind of like a pickle on the kind of the glasses.

• 48:08David Imel?

The glasses are in the shape of a pickle. Kinda. Sort of.

• 48:13Andrew Manganelli?

I would argue the glasses aren't even because they don't have the bottom frame. The logo does look like a pickle and AR goggles, but I don't think it really looks that much like the glasses.

• 48:22David Imel?

  I don't know.

• 48:22Andrew Manganelli?

Even though it probably is a direct.

• 48:24Speaker 03

It's a stupid name and also they should, like Soul Computer is.

• 48:28David Imel?

  What does that mean?

• 48:29Speaker 03

It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Also, Mr. Park, you need to change your Twitter bio, my guy. Like, you can't be the CEO of a company that's in controversy and have your Twitter bio say, "I'm in a pickle."

• 48:40David Imel?

  True.

• 48:41Andrew Manganelli?

  But it's fun.

• 48:42Speaker 01

It's kind of, he's so funny.

• 48:44Andrew Manganelli?

It's a pun. Puns are funny.

• 48:46David Imel?

Somebody out there likes that pun.

• 48:47Speaker 01

Somebody out there likes that pun.

• 48:48Speaker 03

But you know who will be at a pickle in about 30 seconds?

• 48:52David Imel?

  Uh oh.

• 48:53Speaker 03

You guys try to figure out the answer to this week's trivia.

• 48:57Andrew Manganelli?

  I hope it's about pickles.

• 48:59Speaker 01

First trivia question of the new year.

• 49:01David Imel?

  Bread and butter, pickles.

• 49:03Speaker 03

I should have read the pickle question.

• 49:04Speaker 01

I'm gonna get points this year. I swear.

• 49:06Andrew Manganelli?

  This year.

• 49:07Speaker 03

Well, this first question is a very Marquez question because it's about phones of the 2010s.

• 49:16Andrew Manganelli?

I wouldn't be too excited if I were you.

• 49:19Speaker 03

So, RIP Zenfone. I wanted to do an Asus question because there were so many Zenphones I loved so much, but in the process of learning all about all the many phones and fablets Asus made over the years, I found two phones, two phone things, mobile devices.

• 49:41Speaker 03

With hilarious names. At 2013, you could, you could go to Asus and make the choice between buying the Asus Phone Pad, F O N E P A D, or the Asus Pad Phone, P A D F O N E. Yes. Two separate devices, not in the same product line. Right. That makes so much sense. One of them is a four inch phone that plugs into a dock that connects to a 10 inch tablet with keyboard. Clearly. The other one was a fablet that you could get in six, seven, or eight inch sizes because it was 23. He was making it a six, seven. Okay. Yeah.

• 50:24Speaker 03

So between the Asus Phone Pad and the Asus Pad Phone, which one was the fablet? AKA, which one did not have the dock accessory? That's what I'm asking. I think I know. Did not have the dock, was the fablet no dock? I think I remember as well. Was it Phone Pad or Pad Phone? I don't remember. I'm just trying to use common sense. There's no common sense. Probably not.

• 50:48Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm just gonna write.

• 50:49Speaker 01

Both of them with arrows like this.

• 50:52Speaker 03

Perfect. Phone Pad is the phone. Pad Phone is the Pad Phone.

• 50:56Speaker 01

  Duh.

• 50:57Speaker 03

  Duh.

• 50:58Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 50:58Speaker 03

Yeah. All right. Well, answers will be at the end like usual. We'll be right back.

• 53:20David Imel?

Welcome back to another episode of the Waveform Podcast. We're your hosts. Lego. Myego. Myego decided to do a big CES event this year, which everyone was very surprised by. Marques Clas. I was pumped. He's pumped?

• 53:36Andrew Manganelli?

This is awesome. This is the best thing that happened at CES.

• 53:38David Imel?

  I agree.

• 53:39Andrew Manganelli?

We're starting right off the bat.

• 53:39David Imel?

Marques, were you a Lego kid?

• 53:41Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 53:41David Imel?

  Oh, that's well. I was not. I was a Bionicle's kid.

• 53:43Speaker 01

I was in, but I had Bionicles. I also connects.

• 53:47Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, that's very.

• 53:47Speaker 01

But I had Legos first, so I think I'm a Legos kid. Yeah.

• 53:50David Imel?

Lego is in this weird space where they are sort of technology and they're sort of the opposite of technology. Like they are blocks, but then they have evolved in all these ways where they added motors and gears and people make working things. Like yesterday I saw in the analog photography subreddit that someone made a film development tank with Legos. It was crazy, like automated, like, anyway. They decided to have a big CES event, which everyone was like, what is Lego going to headline at CES? It was like a huge thing. They announced. An AI pin. An AI pin. Somehow that wouldn't shock me. Yeah, so Lego announced their first smart brick. Yeah. Which is kinda crazy when you read like the definition of what these things do.

• 54:34David Imel?

Notably, it is not the entire set of Legos that you buy are not made of smart bricks. It is like one or two per set. But they use Bluetooth and NFC and smart tags and they have microphones and they have like basically every sensor there. It's a whole computer in a brick. In like two by four regular looking Lego. Yeah, brick. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Two by four are like centimeters. Yeah.

• 54:57Andrew Manganelli?

  No, no, two by four.

• 54:58David Imel?

You know what I mean by two by four? Not like.

• 55:00Andrew Manganelli?

No, no, no, no, we're talking Lego here.

• 55:02David Imel?

  Yeah, I know.

• 55:03Andrew Manganelli?

  Context of Lego.

• 55:04David Imel?

  Right.

• 55:05Andrew Manganelli?

  Two by four dots.

• 55:06David Imel?

I know, it's just, yeah, oh.

• 55:08Andrew Manganelli?

  Dots, yeah.

• 55:08David Imel?

Okay. It's just usually when people say two by four, they mean.

• 55:11Andrew Manganelli?

That's what I thought too. No, but we're talking about Lego here. You guys need to be in the conversation.

• 55:15David Imel?

I know, I know. Everyone knows the unit of context of Legos. So there are these smart Legos now that they're making that basically can talk to each other and because of this, they're able to make sounds. They're able to like, you can speak to it. They have speakers, all these things.

• 55:30Andrew Manganelli?

Well, yeah, they light up, they make noise and

• 55:32David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 55:33Andrew Manganelli?

They respond to all different things because of the like light and inertia sensors and the smart tags they have with separate like mini figures or other parts of the things. There's examples of like, almost all of the examples are in Star Wars right now because that's the set coming out in March, but one is like when you go to fuel up the Tie Fighter, the like certain, it sees the certain color and knows it's like next to the fuel tank and it starts making the like fuel noises. Or when Emperor Palpatine sits in his throne, it plays Imperial Mart.

• 56:03David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 56:03Andrew Manganelli?

Um, or when two figures that have like lightsabers are next to each other, it'll start the lightsaber noises or light up for different things. So

• 56:11David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 56:11Andrew Manganelli?

There's all this really crazy stuff and like they make a Bluetooth mesh network between them to understand where.

• 56:20Andrew Manganelli?

Other Lego pieces and these NFC tags in the Lego sets are in reference to each other.

• 56:24David Imel?

Yeah, and they wirelessly charge on the like platform that you put them on.

• 56:29Andrew Manganelli?

One of the coolest examples I saw, so they did the the announcement and I was like, this is the coolest thing at CES. And then recently, it must have been last night, Sean Hollister from The Verge went and did like a my first experience with all of them. And he has this really cool example. I'm just gonna read the quote, but we'll put the whole article in the the show notes. So he said, Lego interaction designer Maria Salgado showed us a little police car set that could react to not only the presence of a cop and a robber's smart minifigs, but where they're located compared to the smart brick. If a robber approaches the car, it'll sound the alarm. If a cop approaches the car, it will unlock it with a beep. If you drop the cop in the backseat behind the smart brick, it'll start snoozing because he's obviously not on the job.

• 57:13Andrew Manganelli?

If you drop the robber into the front seat, the cop will wake up and start shouting.

• 57:19Andrew Manganelli?

And that's like an example of how many different things it can do based on where things are in relation to like this singular smart.

• 57:27David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 57:28Speaker 01

Now, somebody, please check me on the nostalgia of this. I think this is unequivocably, I think this is unequivocally.

• 57:36Andrew Manganelli?

  This shit slaps.

• 57:39Speaker 01

I think this slaps. I think this is the best story of CES. I think and and also, you know, it's funny, this is like, I was saying to you, this is like the litmus test of people who didn't read the article. People like see the headline of this and they go, oh, smart Lego brick, boo, like we keep it like, keep it just pure like Legos.

• 57:56David Imel?

Keep it hurting my feet when I step on them.

• 57:57Speaker 01

Yep, which these totally still will.

• 57:59Andrew Manganelli?

Now it'll just, now it'll go like, gotcha.

• 58:02Speaker 01

But like, this is, this is awesome. And this is also like among all the AI and like overpromising and random crap that we see at CES. Like, this is just a real thing that is just great. It's just great.

• 58:13Andrew Manganelli?

Specifically said, there is no AI in this product at all. It just reacts specific. I guess there was some controversy over a previous Mario set that used like barcodes or something to use very specifically. And they're like, this is not anything like that. This is way more open, I guess, and the way it works with different sets. I'm interested to see how these might work outside of sets later down the line. And when people are building their own things and how they could potentially change it.

• 58:41David Imel?

This is my one concern was, does this kind of set in motion a whole thing for you need to build the sets that they ask you to build? And there's no, there's not going to be any sort of like open source stuff where you can like make it do whatever you want it to do.

• 58:56Andrew Manganelli?

It's a weird thing where like, do, are you a person who builds sets and keeps them like that? Or are you a person like me who built a set and then just had a giant tub that those sets disintegrated into and built whatever I want?

• 59:10David Imel?

Which is what you're supposed to do with Legos, originally, anyway.

• 59:13Andrew Manganelli?

Whatever you want to do with Legos, you're spending a lot of money on it. You do you, but like, it would be cool if these could somehow. But is my two by four brick from the Tie Fighter only going to make Tie Fighter noises? Or is the one only going to play Imperial March?

• 59:28David Imel?

Right. Or is it like dynamic?

• 59:31Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, how it works, how the lights were lighting up.

• 59:34David Imel?

  How would you update them?

• 59:36Speaker 01

I think they're going to be just one, one function, I would imagine.

• 59:39Andrew Manganelli?

I would assume there are a couple of functions based solely on this set. And then how creative people will be is how do I use the noises and lights from that set to build something else that I want?

• 59:50David Imel?

Right. But if it's like Tie Fighter noises and you're using a Lord of the Rings set.

• 59:55Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 59:56David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 59:56Andrew Manganelli?

A couple of other small things I saw here, there is a microphone in it, but it's purely to be one of the other sensors because things can react to noise. They claim they're not recording anything. Take Lego at their.

• 1:00:07David Imel?

There is one where if you blow on a fire, it would turn the fire out.

• 1:00:11Andrew Manganelli?

It was like if it was a cake, if you made a birthday cake with it, it would blow, you could blow the candles out possibly. But yeah, first sets are shipping in March. They're like 70, 100 and 160 bucks and they're all pretty small. So you're going to get Lego taxed even harder on this, I'm sure, but they're pretty awesome. There's also a rumor, there's an upcoming Lego Pokemon set that might be.

• 1:00:32David Imel?

Oh, it's not even a rumor. It's coming out this year.

• 1:00:33Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, really?

• 1:00:34David Imel?

  It's confirmed.

• 1:00:35Andrew Manganelli?

  With the smart brick?

• 1:00:36David Imel?

  Yes.

• 1:00:36Andrew Manganelli?

It's like Charmander's tail going to light up.

• 1:00:39David Imel?

  It'd be sick.

• 1:00:39Andrew Manganelli?

I guess a two by four brick wouldn't do that well, but. Yeah, uh, so that was the coolest thing at CES and now we can talk about a bunch of other kind of cool things.

• 1:00:47David Imel?

There's a lot of other cool stuff.

• 1:00:48Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, we'll go through it. You have a...

• 1:00:50David Imel?

  I have a few things.

• 1:00:51Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:51David Imel?

I have one thing that's boring, but I think it's cool. Okay. Pitch us on why it's cool. Alright, so you know how Google Photos?

• 1:01:01Andrew Manganelli?

  Yes.

• 1:01:02David Imel?

Yeah? I know about... yeah, like how Google, you know? I know why and how. Yeah, so I know that. I know that. Google Photos has been long been one of, one of Google's best products. They came out with like the semantic search features a long time ago. It automatically tags different objects, object recognition, that kind of stuff. Notably, um, when you have a NAS, which is a network attached storage array, it's kind of just dumb. Like it's just kind of a file structure system that you, you know, look stuff up. You have to like know exactly where everything is and all of this stuff. It is the new year. I am really messy. Um, my desktop and my storage on my computer is horrible.

• 1:01:44David Imel?

Notably, all of my film scans that I've ever made are on a one terabyte flash drive. And when that breaks, my life will be over. So... No backup. At the beginning of the year, I decided I need to get my [BLEEP] together. So I started looking into storage solutions and wouldn't you have it? Um, at CES, Ugreen announced this AI NAS and I know everything is called AI now. But the early versions of AI, the like machine learning, semantic understanding versions of AI that are actually useful, they are shoving into this thing. So it's a network attached storage array, but it has basically like semantic search. So you can like describe what you want and it'll automatically index all of your images so that you can like find what you need.

• 1:02:28David Imel?

It basically creates, it's like its own personal Google Photos, which is nice because Google Photos does not have original quality upload unless you pay a ton of money. So that's pretty awesome.

• 1:02:38Andrew Manganelli?

Remember when you got that for free?

• 1:02:39David Imel?

  With a Pixel? Yeah.

• 1:02:41Andrew Manganelli?

And then they took it away.

• 1:02:42David Imel?

And then they took it away.

• 1:02:43Speaker 01

  Pepper Farm remembers.

• 1:02:45David Imel?

I can do automatic album creation and categorization. It can do summaries of audio clips and files. It has a model which you can ask about your files. I'm not really sure why you'd need to do that. And it does automatic file organization. So, I don't know, I'm just, I know that this is sort of just like a newer, better version of something we've had for a very long time and it is very boring. But as someone who has not gotten into the like, I need to get my storage solution stuff together game yet. Now that they have semantic search within this, that's actually very useful for me.

• 1:03:18Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:18David Imel?

  So I'm considering.

• 1:03:19Andrew Manganelli?

  This is awesome.

• 1:03:20David Imel?

Yeah, it looks really nice. It's a thousand dollars for the smallest one, which is a lot.

• 1:03:26Andrew Manganelli?

How much storage is the smallest one?

• 1:03:28David Imel?

  It doesn't have any.

• 1:03:29Speaker 03

It's a NASP thing, so you have to buy the drives.

• 1:03:31David Imel?

It's a bay. You buy the drives.

• 1:03:32Andrew Manganelli?

Okay, you have to buy the drives?

• 1:03:33David Imel?

Yeah, so it's a thousand dollars for the smallest one without the drives, which is kind of annoying. It's pretty expensive.

• 1:03:38Speaker 03

Ugreen is a company that I thought only made HDMI adapters. And then I've been seeing so much Ugreen NAS stuff on TikTok. I don't know if they're doing a lot of like paid partner marketing or stuff like that.

• 1:03:52David Imel?

  They probably are.

• 1:03:53Speaker 03

But I've never seen influencers be like NAS bay.

• 1:03:58David Imel?

  Oh, I have.

• 1:03:59Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 1:03:59David Imel?

But it's all, it's been all Synology stuff.

• 1:04:01Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:04:02David Imel?

Like Synology flooded YouTube with like, with NAS array videos.

• 1:04:07Speaker 03

The, the Ugreen NAS bays look really cool. Like they would look clean in a house.

• 1:04:12David Imel?

  Yes, yes.

• 1:04:13Speaker 03

I'm pro. I think I might get one.

• 1:04:14David Imel?

  I'm, I'm very interested.

• 1:04:16Speaker 03

Before this, the only Ugreen product I had literally ever purchased was HDMI adapters, like USB-C. So I'm like, yeah, am I going to trust my entire thing?

• 1:04:27David Imel?

Yeah, they kind of came out of nowhere and then they've been like kind of killing it. They're kind of, I see them as like another version of like Anchor.

• 1:04:33Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, they were made of Anchor.

• 1:04:34David Imel?

Yeah, they've started making a lot of stuff and they're all very high quality. So if there's like a preorder, this is, this has been my predicament. There's like a preorder thing where you save like 700 bucks if you preorder it and I'm like.

• 1:04:47Andrew Manganelli?

  That's how they get you.

• 1:04:48David Imel?

That's how they get you, so.

• 1:04:49Andrew Manganelli?

You save money on the pickle preorder too.

• 1:04:51David Imel?

Yeah. Anyway, I would like to try that, but we'll see, we'll see. Uh, there's a new product. There's a new e-paper display coming out. So notably, we got really excited about this.

• 1:05:04Andrew Manganelli?

  I still love mine.

• 1:05:06David Imel?

Yeah, I mean, so it was, uh, what's the company called? It was, uh.

• 1:05:09Andrew Manganelli?

  Aura.

• 1:05:09David Imel?

Aura. Aura made these, uh, frames, e-paper frames that we got very excited about because they were, they're color e-paper frames. They were saying that they were like the first ones, which I think they wanted to say very intentionally because literally immediately after they said that, like a ton of other brands came out with e-paper color displays.

• 1:05:29Andrew Manganelli?

People were linking us as some other ones, so I'm sure it wasn't like, we're the first ones. It was probably like, we're the first ones with XYZ.

• 1:05:36David Imel?

  Yeah, probably.

• 1:05:36Andrew Manganelli?

  Really studying Tuesday.

• 1:05:37David Imel?

Asterix. I got advertised a bunch of them on Instagram too, so they're clearly like coming. But there's this one, the Ink Poster 41-inch e-paper display that got shown off at CES. Very big. That's, seems like it's just kind of a TV at that point. Like 41 inches is pretty huge.

• 1:05:54Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:55David Imel?

Um, but it is kind of ridiculously overkill and fancy. It has like an aluminum frame and then it uses Alcantara for the mat.

• 1:06:02Andrew Manganelli?

  Whoa.

• 1:06:03David Imel?

So, um, the editor and gadget who saw one of the smaller models last year said that it was a lot denser and like higher resolution than the ones that like we have, for example, because like the Aura frames that we have, like, they look good, but they don't look exactly like, you know.

• 1:06:21Andrew Manganelli?

  One-to-one with the.

• 1:06:21David Imel?

  They're like printed photo.

• 1:06:23Andrew Manganelli?

  Almost.

• 1:06:23David Imel?

They're like half-tone because it has like limited color palette. These apparently are very, very, very high quality, but they're also like $6,000 for the 41-inch one. Um, what I'm excited about is that this technology, like the e-paper technology, the e-ink technology, is clearly finally starting to like get pushed into the public eye. And that means that this same thing is probably going to be half the price next year. So, you know, give it two or three years and this 41-inch e-ink display will probably be like 500 bucks.

• 1:06:54Andrew Manganelli?

  All six of them.

• 1:06:55David Imel?

Hey, they will all be in my house.

• 1:06:57Andrew Manganelli?

  My paper wall.

• 1:06:59David Imel?

Yes, that'd be incredible. Nice. Yes. Um, okay, next thing, Corsair put a stream deck in a keyboard. I'll take three. Notably, they did acquire Elgato in 2018, so it's kinda like eight years too late. Yeah, I mean, it's crazy that they waited this long in order to do this. And I don't know if you guys remember the original Razer Blade that came out in like 2012.

• 1:07:26Andrew Manganelli?

Oh, yeah, with the, you could literally customize your keys, which had little screens under them.

• 1:07:30David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:07:30Andrew Manganelli?

You can make them whatever you want.

• 1:07:31David Imel?

  That's exactly what this is.

• 1:07:32Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:07:33David Imel?

So I guess they were just too early and nobody wanted to pay for them at that point.

• 1:07:37Andrew Manganelli?

Well, that was in a laptop also.

• 1:07:38David Imel?

Right. Whereas if it's in a dedicated keyboard, it's more likely that you're gonna have a whole streaming setup.

• 1:07:43Andrew Manganelli?

  Probably.

• 1:07:43David Imel?

You're probably not gonna be streaming with your laptop. So it, it calls it the Galleon 100 SD keyboard. It has 12 customizable buttons, a 5" 720x1080, a 1280 IPS LCD screen, and two, notably, rotary dials for LS over there. Nice. How do you feel about the rotary dials? All right. It is $350, so it's pretty expensive, but I think if you are-

• 1:08:10Andrew Manganelli?

That's honestly not that crazy. I, like, a regular gaming keyboard could very easily go for $150 to $200, and how much is a stream deck? It's not that far off from them being bought.

• 1:08:21David Imel?

Yeah, so it's like if you're going to set up a streaming setup and you just don't wanna have to buy a separate stream deck, it's right there, which is pretty cool.

• 1:08:28Andrew Manganelli?

Corsair keyboards, which they're just like pretty typical gaming keyboards.

• 1:08:33David Imel?

Yeah, yeah. Speaking of gaming companies, Razer always does something insane at CES. Usually they don't come out. Weirdly enough, you can, like, get on the order list for this.

• 1:08:47Andrew Manganelli?

Let me explain what it is. And, yeah, I was similarly confused.

• 1:08:51David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:52Andrew Manganelli?

Just like, so they're doing this, like, AI desk companion.

• 1:08:55David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:56Andrew Manganelli?

Now, so it's called Project Ava, which was something that was out last year, which was an AI that basically backseat gamed you, so it could tell you all the stuff you're doing wrong when you play games. You guys have never heard of the term backseat gamer? It's like when you're playing-

• 1:09:10David Imel?

  Backseat driver.

• 1:09:11Andrew Manganelli?

Like, yeah, it's similar, but in a lot of games where, like Valorant or Counter-Strike, where someone dies, they're then watching your team, but still in voice chat, and you're like telling someone everything to do, that's, that's like a backseat gamer. So this was- An esports AI, whatever that could, but now you can get this little.

• 1:09:29David Imel?

  Pod.

• 1:09:30Andrew Manganelli?

Pod, yes, cylinder tube kind of thing. It looks like the things when you go to the bank and it sucks up from the drive through. That can sit on your desk, obviously has RGB and kind of has this almost holographic looking avatar.

• 1:09:45Speaker 03

On the website, they say it's a 3D hologram.

• 1:09:47Andrew Manganelli?

  3D hologram.

• 1:09:48David Imel?

  Just a volumetric display.

• 1:09:50Andrew Manganelli?

Well, duh, it is. It's not a volumetric, it's what is it? Okay, well, you'll all know why we're so adamant about that later, but um.

• 1:09:58Speaker 03

Oh my god, and it's powered by Grok.

• 1:10:01Andrew Manganelli?

  Is it really?

• 1:10:02Speaker 03

I'm on their website right now. Project Ava currently utilizes XAI's Grok engine to demonstrate its.

• 1:10:08David Imel?

So they needed that because it notably gets kind of spicy and.

• 1:10:14Andrew Manganelli?

Does it? I did not see.

• 1:10:15Speaker 03

It'll do an epic vulgar roast.

• 1:10:17David Imel?

It's like, okay, so this volumetric display shows a couple of different companions. There's like an anime girl and an anime guy.

• 1:10:27Andrew Manganelli?

  Of course.

• 1:10:28David Imel?

The anime girl in like the video is like just wearing a big t-shirt.

• 1:10:31Andrew Manganelli?

It's unfortunately, it's like anime girl, anime guy, and then one of the most famous League of Legends players ever.

• 1:10:39David Imel?

Well, yeah, there's these little characters that I, the idea is that it's, it's just an assistant that during the day you talk to as an assistant. And while you're playing games, they sort of backseat game with you. But it's, makes sense that it's powered by Grok because these assistants are, you know, made to be.

• 1:11:00Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, we all know.

• 1:11:01David Imel?

  Companions.

• 1:11:02Andrew Manganelli?

Companion's a terrible word for this unless that's what you literally want it to do. It's also like, because it's this pod that sits on your desk has a camera on the front. So it can help you with what you're wearing and like your fashion sense or whatever, and it can see things you're doing and. I don't know. Every, Razer has this thing where it feels like every year they make this huge splash with a product to get you to their booth that will never exist.

• 1:11:25David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:25Andrew Manganelli?

And I specifically had a friend send this to me being like, look how crazy this is. It looks so stupid. And I was like, let me let you in on a little secret. Razer never actually releases these things. They just have all their other products at CES. Then he was like, then how come you can preorder? And I was like, what? And then I went and for $20 you can get in line for a reservation, but they are saying this will come out in 2026. So I don't know what to think. If they just realize nobody expects their stuff to come out. So this was, give us 20 bucks and we'll give it back? Or if this is actually gonna come?

• 1:11:57David Imel?

If it's powered by Grok, I would bet you that they are literally just using the same, like, cause Grok also has the like, companion, like virtual, actual bodied companion thing that you can interact with. It's probably just using that API and changing the look of the character.

• 1:12:14Andrew Manganelli?

Well, it's using the, the AI part of something that they had already because they were doing like, I think they announced Eva last year for like the gaming stuff. But now this is like, almost a webcam where it's taking in context of things in your room. But the weirdest thing is that it's this hologram, which we've been working on something that makes us understand holograms are really, really hard. Um, and I don't know, there's no idea how much this is gonna cost because you have to pay $20 to get in line for it.

• 1:12:45David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:46Andrew Manganelli?

So is this gonna be reasonably priced? Is this gonna be, it's so weird.

• 1:12:51Speaker 04

  I'm out.

• 1:12:54David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:55Speaker 04

Does this give you, give you an unfair advantage if you're playing though?

• 1:12:58Speaker 03

It's an FAQ. It's an FAQ on the website. Is this cheating?

• 1:13:02Andrew Manganelli?

Oh, is this cheating? Is this like rapid trigger?

• 1:13:06Andrew Manganelli?

It's just gonna be like, you need to build more pylons, dipshit.

• 1:13:10David Imel?

I just, it's a little sad to me that it's obviously Grok because that kind of fits in with the whole like gamer personality.

• 1:13:18Andrew Manganelli?

I don't want Grok and companion to be in the same sentence.

• 1:13:22Speaker 03

The Razer website also describes it as a friend for life.

• 1:13:26David Imel?

That's not what you should be doing.

• 1:13:27Andrew Manganelli?

Does that mean it has a lifetime warranty?

• 1:13:29Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:13:30David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:13:30Andrew Manganelli?

  Dude, that's the only way.

• 1:13:31David Imel?

  False marketing.

• 1:13:32Speaker 03

I wanna talk, there's so much I wanna talk about, but. Yeah, I don't know. I don't, I'm, I don't know if this will even ever come out.

• 1:13:40Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, do we think this even comes out?

• 1:13:41Speaker 03

Can we talk about the hologram for a sec? Because I can't stop thinking about this, man. Okay. Because you're right, Andrew. We've been doing some secret stuff that involves holograms for the past few weeks. And we've learned a lot about holograms and a lot about how they work. And in all of the Razer photos on their website, no matter what angle the photo is taken from, no matter what angle the desk is at, or no matter what angle the user is facing, do you guys notice? It's facing on. It's facing dead at the camera, right? Yeah.

• 1:14:10Andrew Manganelli?

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:14:10Speaker 03

Whereas on theverge.com's photo in their header, not only is it at an angle, but do you see very faintly the transparent screen?

• 1:14:25Speaker 04

Well, I thought that was the shutter speed catching something spinning.

• 1:14:28Speaker 03

I don't think there's anything spinning in there.

• 1:14:30Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 1:14:30Speaker 03

  I- Oh, yeah.

• 1:14:31Andrew Manganelli?

You think it's just, you think it's just a piece of glass, pretty much?

• 1:14:34Speaker 03

I think it's a transparent LCD. I think it's a transparent, I think it's a transparent LED. So it's not gonna look volumetric at all? Not the LG spec. Ah. I don't, I, well, it's hard to tell from this photo. The reason, here's why I don't think anything is spinning in there, is because when you generate a 3D image, and it's a little bit of spoiler, the thing we're working on, but when you generate a 3D image from spinning something, you don't just have to render one frame, like if you're trying to render a 30 FPS video on a spinning thing, you have to render the slice at every degree, right? Which means you actually have to do a full spin more than once a frame, which means you need a graphics engine in this thing

• 1:15:16Speaker 03

that's rendering these 2D slices at like over a thousand slices per second. Like you need an insane amount of graphics power, and that's to do a low resolution image. From all the photos, this looks like a reasonably high-res- Yeah. -screen, right? So I'm willing to bet that Razer- Did not put like a 50 90 in this thing.

• 1:15:38David Imel?

Yeah, it does not look like it's spinning. I mean, even in there's a photo from sort of the top angle down where you can't, it's looks like it's off, but you can kind of see the transparent LED.

• 1:15:48Speaker 03

And does it look like it's at a, it's, it's at the same sort of perpendicular?

• 1:15:52David Imel?

It's the same angle. It's they're all at the same angle.

• 1:15:55Speaker 03

  Me thinks.

• 1:15:56David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:15:56Speaker 03

Yeah. 3D hologram is a little bit of an overstatement, but it's also it's, it is possible that this uses the same technology as that company Looking Glass.

• 1:16:08David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:08Speaker 03

  In Brooklyn.

• 1:16:08David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:09Speaker 03

Which does light field, yeah, in Greenpoint, which does light field displays. So it's not like a true 3D hologram. It's more like.

• 1:16:17David Imel?

It's what Nintendo used on the 3DS.

• 1:16:19Speaker 03

Exactly. Yeah. But also, I don't know.

• 1:16:25Andrew Manganelli?

Exactly. I think that's the best way to add that.

• 1:16:28Speaker 03

I guess I just wanted to jump in here because I can't stop thinking about holograms for the past few weeks. And when, you know, and, you know, it's hard to think about holograms and not also think about waifus.

• 1:16:38David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:38Speaker 03

And when they're, when, when a big company is like, yo, do you remember the last time we talked to Razer at CES?

• 1:16:45Andrew Manganelli?

I wasn't there, but that's the basis of my.

• 1:16:48Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:16:48Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:49Speaker 03

When they were like, why would you ask me that? This isn't real.

• 1:16:52David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:52Speaker 03

We'll see if this is. But, uh, yeah.

• 1:16:55Andrew Manganelli?

They're taking money, which they haven't done for other things. So I'm assuming this is going to be real.

• 1:16:59David Imel?

They need to remember it's okay to take money and not deliver products now. It's 2026.

• 1:17:03Speaker 03

And Razer, if I'm wrong and you don't, you didn't just buy a transparent LED panel from Samsung and put it in there stationary.

• 1:17:11Andrew Manganelli?

Ellis will use this product for the rest of the year.

• 1:17:13Speaker 03

I will, I will use, I will end my Claude subscription and only use the Razer waifu for all of my LLM purposes.

• 1:17:24Speaker 04

  While having the bomb.

• 1:17:25Speaker 03

But, or whatever. But no, seriously, someone at Rager should reach out and tell me if I'm wrong and it actually is a 3D hologram. Cause I'd love to know about how it works because thinking about holograms 24 seven these days.

• 1:17:37Andrew Manganelli?

All right. We got some other things that I think are less creepy. Samsung, we just have to talk about one TV because this is CES after all.

• 1:17:47David Imel?

  There's a gazillion of them.

• 1:17:48Andrew Manganelli?

  Well, well, there's a million.

• 1:17:49Speaker 03

Wait, is that what they're calling their new TV OS?

• 1:17:52Andrew Manganelli?

  What?

• 1:17:53David Imel?

  One TV.

• 1:17:54Andrew Manganelli?

  One TV.

• 1:17:56David Imel?

  Damn. Like when you I.

• 1:17:58Andrew Manganelli?

All right, well, there they announced the 130.

• 1:18:01Speaker 03

  4000 IQ joke.

• 1:18:02David Imel?

  I got it.

• 1:18:03Andrew Manganelli?

  130 inch timeless frame.

• 1:18:07Andrew Manganelli?

I just, this thing, I'm so confused. Can someone try and describe what this looks like? Because it's, it's like a TV in a frame that doesn't connect, but is kind of off centered. And like an easel.

• 1:18:19David Imel?

It looks like an easel that it is like, the TV is inside the easel and it pivots inside the easel and swings around.

• 1:18:27Andrew Manganelli?

Like a whiteboard of us. It looks like you could spin.

• 1:18:30David Imel?

Yeah, you could. Yeah, you can probably angle it.

• 1:18:34Andrew Manganelli?

It's connected towards like the bottom.

• 1:18:35David Imel?

I think it might be fixed.

• 1:18:37Speaker 03

  Picture like.

• 1:18:37Andrew Manganelli?

  130 is fixed.

• 1:18:39David Imel?

  Basically bezel is.

• 1:18:40Speaker 03

A dog door that's like the size of a third of a garage door. But the, but the hinge is like exactly in the middle of the Y axis. So that the garage door just spins over and over again, like a, like a conveyor belt flap.

• 1:18:53David Imel?

  Fan, yeah.

• 1:18:54Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:18:55David Imel?

  Yeah, it's big.

• 1:18:58Andrew Manganelli?

  It's huge. So I.

• 1:18:59David Imel?

  130 inches.

• 1:19:00Andrew Manganelli?

Micro RGB. It's 130 inches. I assuming this is 16.9 aspect or 16 by nine aspect ratio. That would be approximately 113 inches wide and 63 inches tall, which would be 11 feet wide and five feet tall. And that's just the TV screen. It is then inside the other giant box. So this is what like a 13 foot tall contraption that to be a timeless window rather than just a. I don't know, a stand.

• 1:19:30David Imel?

This is gonna be one of those like hundred thousand dollar TVs.

• 1:19:32Andrew Manganelli?

This is, this is peak C. This is what CES does.

• 1:19:35David Imel?

This is LG rollable TV CES.

• 1:19:37Speaker 03

It's I have like a ginormous living room. Yeah, you know, core.

• 1:19:41Andrew Manganelli?

My couch doesn't touch a wall.

• 1:19:43David Imel?

This TV is bigger than my apartment.

• 1:19:44Andrew Manganelli?

This definitely goes in like the lobby of some giant building in Manhattan.

• 1:19:48David Imel?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:19:49Andrew Manganelli?

To show where you are in the building.

• 1:19:52David Imel?

You are here in the mall.

• 1:19:53Speaker 03

  I think it's gorgeous.

• 1:19:54David Imel?

I mean, it is very pretty. It is timeless.

• 1:19:56Andrew Manganelli?

It is the living room you need to pull it off. Is so far beyond my means. I can't even begin to.

• 1:20:03David Imel?

  It's gonna be.

• 1:20:03Andrew Manganelli?

  Concrete.

• 1:20:04David Imel?

It's gonna be like the guys only need one thing photo of like a guy that moves into a like a new apartment. And it's just like him sitting on a lawn chair with this and a PS5.

• 1:20:14Andrew Manganelli?

That's resting on like a 30 rack of Milwaukee's best.

• 1:20:17David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:20:19David Imel?

Speaking of TVs, uh, did you guys see all the Frame TV knockoffs we got this year?

• 1:20:23Speaker 01

  There's so many.

• 1:20:24David Imel?

  There's so many.

• 1:20:26Andrew Manganelli?

Why did it take this long?

• 1:20:27David Imel?

  I don't know.

• 1:20:27Speaker 01

  That's a great question.

• 1:20:28David Imel?

Yeah, I was surprised. They're basically everybody. TCL, HighSense, LG, even Amazon is making a gallery TV now. And I think this, I mean, this always made a ton of sense. Um, ironically, I did hear that these are basically just excuses for the companies to use old panels that are way worse and sell them for a much higher price.

• 1:20:48Speaker 01

I, I, every year I think I want a Frame TV and I never, we had one in the old studio and it just, I, I like the idea of it, but I just never really decided to.

• 1:20:58David Imel?

Their quality is all, they're all bad quality.

• 1:21:00Speaker 01

  They're all bad TVs.

• 1:21:01David Imel?

  Yes.

• 1:21:02Speaker 01

But when they're off and they show the art and they're like a little framed thing, they look kinda cool.

• 1:21:07David Imel?

And that's why they can charge you a lot of money for them.

• 1:21:09Speaker 01

And that's, that's only, that's the only way they sell it to you, by the way. They're like, look at this TV when it's off. Isn't that nice?

• 1:21:15David Imel?

Because otherwise it'd be $300 on Black Friday.

• 1:21:17Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:21:18David Imel?

If it didn't have the frame.

• 1:21:19Speaker 01

I guess I'll keep, continue to not buy one.

• 1:21:21David Imel?

I'm glad that all these other companies are making them because it does mean that maybe there will be competition, which will force them to have better quality, which would be nice.

• 1:21:31Speaker 01

If that becomes the, if like one of these starts selling more because it's a better TV, then that will be proof enough to them that they should focus on that.

• 1:21:37David Imel?

  Right.

• 1:21:38Speaker 01

But if they all sell well because they're all garbage TVs, but they all have the same feature, then no one's gonna be incentivized to like make a really good one.

• 1:21:44David Imel?

I imagine the Amazon Fire TV one is gonna sell really well. Yeah. Do you guys remember the, the Samsung Serif TV?

• 1:21:51Andrew Manganelli?

  I've heard of it before.

• 1:21:52Speaker 03

  Oh yeah, baby.

• 1:21:52David Imel?

It was like, it was that TV that just sat on the ground.

• 1:21:55Speaker 01

  The Samsung Serif TV.

• 1:21:56Andrew Manganelli?

Oh yeah, this kind of reminds me of the timeless frame we were just talking about. It's just like.

• 1:22:01David Imel?

I think Isaac has one of these. But it basically, it, it stands on the, it has just these like legs that it stands on and then it's got, it's called Serif because like a serif font. Um, and it's inside of this, I don't know. It looks, it looks really nice.

• 1:22:15Speaker 03

  Terrible TV.

• 1:22:16David Imel?

Oh my God, one of the worst TVs.

• 1:22:18Andrew Manganelli?

  Really?

• 1:22:18David Imel?

  It is so bad.

• 1:22:19Speaker 01

  That's so funny.

• 1:22:20David Imel?

The, the actual display is horrible.

• 1:22:22Speaker 03

  You wanna do something?

• 1:22:22David Imel?

  Brandon has it too, actually.

• 1:22:23Speaker 03

Yeah, Brandon owns one. And it looks great.

• 1:22:25David Imel?

It looks great in his apartment until he turned it on.

• 1:22:27Speaker 03

You know where I saw? You know where I saw the Serif TV for the very first time?

• 1:22:32David Imel?

  Brandon's apartment?

• 1:22:32Speaker 03

  No, in a museum.

• 1:22:34David Imel?

  That makes sense.

• 1:22:34Speaker 03

  Because the.

• 1:22:35David Imel?

  Directory?

• 1:22:36Speaker 03

No, because the designers who made it are these famous design brothers named the Bularex that Samsung, and so it was an entire like exhibit about. The Buller X like furniture designs. And in the corner was this crazy looking TV and it had a Samsung logo on it. I was like, why is it 720?

• 1:22:58Speaker 01

Andrew, do you want to talk about the vibrating knife?

• 1:22:59Andrew Manganelli?

Yes. I don't like how enthusiastic I was the way you described it, but yes, I want to open this by saying, Marquez.

• 1:23:07Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:23:08Andrew Manganelli?

Please let me do a video or a short about this. So I actually saw this outside of CES, but it is at CES, so I'm counting it and we are allowed to talk about it. But this is the Seattle Ultrasonic's C200 Ultrasonic 8-inch chef's knife.

• 1:23:24Speaker 01

It has ultrasonic twice in the name.

• 1:23:25Andrew Manganelli?

That's how sonic it is. So imagine a chef's knife with the thickest handle ever. Cause this handle looks really thick and plasticky and has a giant red button on it. Yeah, cause it needs a battery, but why do you need a button on a knife? Well, this knife blade vibrates up to 30,000 times a second, which claims makes the knife behave sharper than it physically is.

• 1:23:49Speaker 01

And so what happens then when you cut things while it's vibrating?

• 1:23:52Andrew Manganelli?

It cuts them really fast and really well. So like, I honestly put this in as a joke because I thought it was so funny and it reminds me of those like the carving knives that everyone uses for like Thanksgiving, which some people really like. But I'm always a believer in.

• 1:24:08Speaker 01

Oh, is that how it's vibrating?

• 1:24:10Andrew Manganelli?

But no, it's not a carving knife specifically is just going like forwards and back.

• 1:24:13Speaker 01

  It's not.

• 1:24:14Andrew Manganelli?

This is just like, like they say, when you turn it on, you can barely tell it's doing anything. The way they show it is they like. I think just like everywhere.

• 1:24:22Speaker 01

Is it pivoting or is it like that?

• 1:24:25Andrew Manganelli?

Everywhere vibrations are the key to all life.

• 1:24:31Andrew Manganelli?

  Dr. Fuji.

• 1:24:32Speaker 03

It's doing the Harlem Shake, bro.

• 1:24:33Speaker 01

I'm really trying to understand this. If a knife is like this and it's a sharp thing.

• 1:24:37Andrew Manganelli?

  I think it's just vibrating.

• 1:24:38Speaker 01

  If it's vibrating, it's.

• 1:24:39David Imel?

  I don't know what axis it's vibrating.

• 1:24:41Speaker 01

How does it? Yeah. What is the motor in the handle exactly?

• 1:24:44David Imel?

Like is it vibrating forward and back or left and right?

• 1:24:47Speaker 03

If you drop it, does it just start like around your kitchen?

• 1:24:50Speaker 01

  It's got it. It's got a buzz.

• 1:24:51Andrew Manganelli?

No, no, no. Well, it's like buzz a little.

• 1:24:53Speaker 01

No, it'll probably buzz like it's on the ground and it's vibrating.

• 1:24:56David Imel?

No, just cut through your floor.

• 1:24:57Speaker 03

  If it's vibrating.

• 1:24:59David Imel?

  Falls to your basement.

• 1:25:00Andrew Manganelli?

This is like the best way.

• 1:25:01Speaker 03

It falls to the center of the earth.

• 1:25:06David Imel?

And then it cuts the earth's core open.

• 1:25:08Speaker 03

And then the earth sort of like falls in half.

• 1:25:10Speaker 01

  You cannot drop this knife.

• 1:25:11David Imel?

  I'd like to see.

• 1:25:13Speaker 03

They spent so much time asking you if they could, they never asked if they should.

• 1:25:17Andrew Manganelli?

This is a good video example of that it's actually moving because it doesn't look like it is, but they just put sand on it and it kind of looks like it's just going up and down and slightly forward.

• 1:25:26Speaker 01

It's like a tuning fork. It's like how a tuning resonates at a certain frequency. It's not like it's sliding back and forth.

• 1:25:32David Imel?

  No, it's resonating.

• 1:25:34Speaker 03

I'm gonna have to push back there because it's by definition ultrasonic.

• 1:25:38David Imel?

  True, yeah.

• 1:25:38Speaker 01

Well, 33 hertz is, oh, 33 kilohertz.

• 1:25:41Speaker 03

It means it's faster than you can hear, whereas the point of a tuning fork is to hear it.

• 1:25:45Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, I agree. I'm just saying as far as.

• 1:25:47Speaker 03

  I'm just being a jerk.

• 1:25:48Andrew Manganelli?

  Cut that.

• 1:25:49Speaker 01

Wait, can you hear 33 kilohertz? I feel like you, oh, you can't.

• 1:25:51Speaker 03

  20K is the, the.

• 1:25:52Speaker 01

  Oh, okay.

• 1:25:53Speaker 03

33, if it was, if it was lower than 20K, it would just be sonic.

• 1:25:57Speaker 01

So your dog could hear this, this knife?

• 1:26:02Speaker 01

It's like it doubles as a dog whistle.

• 1:26:04Andrew Manganelli?

You just go to cut your food and your dog is just freaking out?

• 1:26:08Speaker 03

Oh my God, wait, you, but in a way you did just make a tell your dog that you, your dog has food in the kitchen button.

• 1:26:15Speaker 01

As if it didn't already know.

• 1:26:18Andrew Manganelli?

But so at first, like I said, I thought this was just those carving knives and I wasn't really that interested. I like my kitchen stuff to be as un-tech focused as possible. I like just nice knives that I sharpen. I like cast iron. But then there's this video of it just like cutting through a baguette without serration and just like, usually you cut bread with a serrated knife and a baguette is hard and usually you have to like smush it down to cut it with a, this is just.

• 1:26:47Speaker 01

  It just glides through it.

• 1:26:48Andrew Manganelli?

  Gliding through a baguette.

• 1:26:49Speaker 01

Like the scissor through wrapping paper when you get that nice glide.

• 1:26:52Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:26:53David Imel?

Dude, the French are gonna be so excited.

• 1:26:54Andrew Manganelli?

But like. Like seeing it cut a tomato, I'm like, cool, a really sharp knife cuts a tomato, no problem. Oh, the cheese. That's an apple, I think.

• 1:27:02Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:27:03Andrew Manganelli?

Watching it cut through the baguette is like, literally insane. Dude, the mist coming off the tomato? Tomato, that's another way of showing how precise it's vibrating.

• 1:27:12Speaker 01

Can I ask you a question about knives? I don't know anything about knives.

• 1:27:15Andrew Manganelli?

  I probably can't answer there.

• 1:27:16Speaker 01

I know you could do it with a sharp knife, but. This is a $400 smart knife.

• 1:27:20Andrew Manganelli?

  $400 is not crazy.

• 1:27:21Speaker 01

  How much?

• 1:27:21Andrew Manganelli?

Remember, I actually paid for the hammer?

• 1:27:23Speaker 01

How much is a really good, sharp?

• 1:27:26Andrew Manganelli?

My like, Wustaf Classic, which is like a really good, but still.

• 1:27:32Speaker 01

Knife is already above my head.

• 1:27:33Andrew Manganelli?

It's like 160 bucks. But like, you can get Japanese steel for very expensive, if you want to.

• 1:27:39Speaker 01

  Interesting.

• 1:27:39Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. Some of that is because of like, how handmade and like precise and like specific it is. And like, the handle is probably like, one of one.

• 1:27:47Speaker 01

It's IP65, so it's not gonna go through a dishwasher, is it?

• 1:27:50Andrew Manganelli?

No, but you can hand wash it through a dishwasher.

• 1:27:52Speaker 01

You shouldn't, any knife worth that much money, you shouldn't put it through a dishwasher. But I'm just thinking, like, if you use this one knife for your raw meat, and then need to use it again later. And you know how you're cooking, you have like, you need to use a knife for three different things?

• 1:28:03Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:03Speaker 01

  I feel like you need.

• 1:28:04Andrew Manganelli?

  You wash it.

• 1:28:05Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:28:06Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. You should always wash your knife and dry it off immediately, and not leave it out wet.

• 1:28:10Speaker 01

And it's also because the different knives are better for different things, like serrated knives for the baguettes.

• 1:28:15Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. Well, so, okay, so this has 1100 milliamp hour removable battery pack. Um, it charges either USB-C, or it has, do you know how people have the like, wooden magnetic knife mounts? For 150 bucks, you can get one of those that's wireless charging? Yes. Marquez, I blame you for this, because you said to USB-C all the things. And they have.

• 1:28:35Speaker 01

Well, it was that or micro USB.

• 1:28:37Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, what one do you want? Just like a true tech product, it says, uh, I believe it says, for, uh, to avoid e-waste, USB-C cable and charger are not included in the box.

• 1:28:49Speaker 01

Damn. So you gotta charge your knife. How long do you think this knife battery lasts?

• 1:28:53Andrew Manganelli?

I bet, probably like. How long are you using a knife? I bet it's totally fine to get through.

• 1:28:58Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:28:59Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:28:59Speaker 01

But at some point, you need to charge your knife, which is hilarious.

• 1:29:02Andrew Manganelli?

Does it last long enough to cut to the center of the earth? Maybe that's the only thing saving it.

• 1:29:06David Imel?

There's just a bunch of knives like hundreds of feet deep with dead batteries. I also just love the idea of just like you use it and then you just stick it and it starts charging. That's crazy.

• 1:29:15Andrew Manganelli?

It's I this was a total joke at first and I want this so bad now.

• 1:29:20Speaker 03

  I want this.

• 1:29:20Andrew Manganelli?

I want it really bad. If you're listening, Seattle Ultrasonics.

• 1:29:23David Imel?

  Yeah, please.

• 1:29:24Andrew Manganelli?

Also, we're here or Internet Shaquille needs to do a review on this. Please send him one. He's way cooler than us, but if you want to send us one, or if I can give it to Mark has to let us do a short on it.

• 1:29:35Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:29:36Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm here.

• 1:29:36David Imel?

You're gonna have to send it because I looked at adding it to my car for a pre-order and you pay full price right away. When does it come out?

• 1:29:42Andrew Manganelli?

  Uh, in March, I think.

• 1:29:44David Imel?

Four hundred bucks. I want it.

• 1:29:45Andrew Manganelli?

Which is not that far away. Before the pickle.

• 1:29:48David Imel?

I want it. Place your bets.

• 1:29:50Andrew Manganelli?

I think that's my second favorite thing I see. Yes.

• 1:29:52David Imel?

The third cool thing, it's got IP. It's got an IP rating.

• 1:29:55Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:56David Imel?

It's IP sixty-five. I want to do a really quick, um, Lenovo Power Hour because they always do the weirdest stuff. They are announcing a laptop that, okay, last year we got the laptop that rolled upwards. We sure did. And that was cool. That's a cool.

• 1:30:13Andrew Manganelli?

Linus went on Jimmy. Fal, Kim, Fallon.

• 1:30:17David Imel?

One of the Jimbo's. And showed him. Yeah. Right. It's cool. Right.

• 1:30:21Speaker 03

The same night as Bad Bunny was there. Oh, I'm so jealous.

• 1:30:23David Imel?

Yeah, that was honestly a combo.

• 1:30:24Andrew Manganelli?

  I'm sure they hung.

• 1:30:25Speaker 03

Linus Sebastian, Bad Bunny, can't even tell them apart.

• 1:30:29David Imel?

This year they did a rollable computer that rolls out, so it makes an ultra wide display.

• 1:30:35Speaker 03

  The scroll book.

• 1:30:36David Imel?

The scroll book. Um, yeah. It's a scroll book pro. Uh-oh. Crumble books come.

• 1:30:40Andrew Manganelli?

Now I know why you like that because David could be like, check out this picture I took. And then it expands outwards and then he's like, here's my twenty-three by seven.

• 1:30:49Speaker 03

It makes the Royal Flex Pie like creaks.

• 1:30:55David Imel?

But I mean, I would like the vertical roll book. I think for, for productivity is good. The horizontal roll book is, is pretty sick for gaming. You know, I think that that, you know, pretty cool.

• 1:31:06Andrew Manganelli?

Just product. I mean, also productivity is whether you want a big chat. It's like code and like big emails or chats. Like you want vertical or like if you want it to go sideways, you have side by side screens.

• 1:31:17David Imel?

Yeah, you don't need a Vision Pro if you got this thing.

• 1:31:19Andrew Manganelli?

  No.

• 1:31:19David Imel?

Um, they also made a laptop concept that has a rollable display that wraps around its lid, which is weird. Um, I don't know. A lot of this tech eventually comes to, to stuff eventually. For Adam, uh, they made a FIFA edition razor. Phone.

• 1:31:35Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:31:35David Imel?

  They sure did.

• 1:31:36Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:31:36David Imel?

With like the FIFA logo on the back.

• 1:31:38Speaker 01

  It's just a branded version.

• 1:31:40David Imel?

  Yeah, just.

• 1:31:40Speaker 01

  With a custom ringtone.

• 1:31:42Andrew Manganelli?

  That's two phones.

• 1:31:43David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:31:43Speaker 01

Yeah, it's two phones for some reason. But if they can upcharge somebody who really likes soccer, they'll do it.

• 1:31:48David Imel?

Uh, they made a new Moto watch that promises 13 day battery life and polar powered health tracking that uses Polar. So that seems pretty interesting.

• 1:31:57Andrew Manganelli?

  The seltzer company?

• 1:31:58David Imel?

No, well, no, no. Polar, Polar is another like, you know, right?

• 1:32:03Andrew Manganelli?

  That's a house.

• 1:32:03David Imel?

  You know, right?

• 1:32:04Andrew Manganelli?

I have no idea what Polar is.

• 1:32:05David Imel?

  Polar is a smartwatch brand.

• 1:32:07Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh.

• 1:32:07Speaker 04

Not smartwatch. They make a bunch of health accessories like heart rate monitors and like stuff like that. Straps and stuff.

• 1:32:12David Imel?

Right, right. So this is called the Moto watch. Um, it's round, you know, it doesn't have the flat tire. So I don't know, it, that looks pretty good. Uh, but the one thing that I'm sure you'll be reviewing soon here, Marquez, is, uh.

• 1:32:24Andrew Manganelli?

  The Dell XPS?

• 1:32:26David Imel?

Yeah. Dell did bring back the XPS name.

• 1:32:29Speaker 01

  I literally ordered it.

• 1:32:30David Imel?

  You ordered the XPS?

• 1:32:31Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:32:32David Imel?

  Why?

• 1:32:32Speaker 01

The new 14, because it looks like it's actually good.

• 1:32:34Andrew Manganelli?

  I know.

• 1:32:35Speaker 04

Well, they always, they were good.

• 1:32:36Speaker 01

It was good. And then they like got rid of XPS for a year and it was like Dell Pro, Dell Pro Max. That is weird fit. And now they're, now they're back. Now XPS is back and they fixed a lot of the things. They have like a real function row key and they have like better speakers and you can actually see the trackpad. It looks like a much better laptop. And I was like, let me give it a shot.

• 1:32:53David Imel?

  Okay.

• 1:32:54Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:32:54David Imel?

Well, uh, the, there is now a razor hot dog, uh, phone.

• 1:32:59Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:32:59David Imel?

  So.

• 1:33:00Speaker 04

I'm glad you called it. It's correct.

• 1:33:01Speaker 01

  Razor fold.

• 1:33:02Andrew Manganelli?

Razor fold. Oh, I thought we meant the gaming company again.

• 1:33:05David Imel?

Oh, sorry. So Moto Razor Fold.

• 1:33:08Andrew Manganelli?

  Moto Razor Fold.

• 1:33:09David Imel?

Um, hot dog. So apparently the Fisher, Michael Fisher, Mr. Millble, said that he was not that excited for it. And then he saw it in person and that it, the build quality is actually really, really nice. Um, and that he's pretty excited for it.

• 1:33:22Speaker 04

That's a weird thing to say about his own product.

• 1:33:25Speaker 01

I tr- I trust Michael Fisher's, uh, read on a phone first impressions. I'm also not expecting very much from a, what is this going to be like, a 14, $1500?

• 1:33:35David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:33:36Speaker 01

  Uh, Motorola flagship that folds?

• 1:33:38David Imel?

Notably, they, they did the like $600, um, hamburger fold.

• 1:33:43Speaker 01

That, that was their bread and butter.

• 1:33:44David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:33:44Speaker 01

The little, little throwback razor foldable thing was, they got it all the way down to like, yeah, $6.99 or maybe $5.99.

• 1:33:51David Imel?

  I think it was $5.99.

• 1:33:52Andrew Manganelli?

They had a version of it. That was.

• 1:33:53Speaker 01

Which was, that, that made it really good. But I always felt like Motorola, at least in the past like five, six years, has been making these edge flagships and they've just never been. Pushing any sort of boundaries of being like a really good phone. They'll just make like a decent phone and it's their flagship.

• 1:34:08David Imel?

Yeah, the edges have been like.

• 1:34:10Speaker 01

Like not great cameras, pretty okay battery, but they don't do silicon carbon. I think this, this has a 5200 milliampere. I don't think they do any silicon carbon in their whole lineup.

• 1:34:18David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:19Speaker 01

Like, okay, like flagship chip, but also they were really first to 5G and haven't done anything great since. Like, I don't know, they're fine.

• 1:34:25David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:26Speaker 01

But when they're doing, when I hear they're doing a fold, I'm like, it'll be fine.

• 1:34:29David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:30Speaker 01

So, but if he, you know, if he likes it.

• 1:34:32David Imel?

  It sounds just fine.

• 1:34:33Speaker 01

  I'll check it out.

• 1:34:33David Imel?

Yeah, they're also making AI pendant. I did see that too. It's a concept right now.

• 1:34:39Speaker 01

  It's like a necklace, right?

• 1:34:40David Imel?

  It's a necklace with a camera.

• 1:34:42Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:34:43Andrew Manganelli?

  Catch it? There's a.

• 1:34:44David Imel?

  Surveillance.

• 1:34:45Andrew Manganelli?

A keyboard YouTuber that I really like, like called HippoTech, and I think he's at his first CES ever. And he's, his whole Instagram is just like, I'm so excited to see the new tech, hope it doesn't have AI. And then it's just like, oh, and it's just been like 48 hours.

• 1:35:00David Imel?

Wrong year to go to CES, my friend. I have bad news. Everything.

• 1:35:04Andrew Manganelli?

  Well, speaking of Michael Fisher.

• 1:35:08David Imel?

  The main events.

• 1:35:09Andrew Manganelli?

Last thing I have here, and I know it looks like a lot, but we can kind of go through this.

• 1:35:12David Imel?

Notably the best thing that got announced at CES.

• 1:35:15Andrew Manganelli?

  After the Lego brick.

• 1:35:16David Imel?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:35:17Andrew Manganelli?

I like Michael Fisher a lot, but the Lego brick was pretty awesome, and I don't think he'll be upset about that.

• 1:35:21David Imel?

  All right.

• 1:35:22Andrew Manganelli?

But Clicks, the company that he is a part of, released two new products.

• 1:35:25David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:35:26Andrew Manganelli?

The first one, the Clicks Power Keyboard.

• 1:35:28David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:35:29Andrew Manganelli?

Is essentially a, so they had previously been doing the cases with the keyboard on the bottom, which for a lot of phones made them long, very long.

• 1:35:37David Imel?

  Very long. Tall as heck.

• 1:35:38Andrew Manganelli?

It kind of made the most sense on like the Z flips, because then you could use the front screen with your own. Yeah, and the razor and your own keyboard not being in the way of the small screen. And it would be a regular size. But so the Clicks Power Keyboard is actually a, imagine a battery bank with MagSafe. And then when you pop it to the back of your phone, you can slide your phone up. And now there's a keyboard on the battery bank. So now the keyboard rests there, is also providing charge with your phone. And you can pop it on and off whenever you want.

• 1:36:06David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:36:07Andrew Manganelli?

Which is kind of awesome. It has multiple different sliding ranges. So like if you have a smaller phone or a really big phone, you can turn its landscape if you want kind of a knockoff LG Wing.

• 1:36:20David Imel?

  Nothing's gonna be the.

• 1:36:22David Imel?

Nothing can fill the void. At the wing left.

• 1:36:26Andrew Manganelli?

But like it does awesome stuff like it's done with the past on the cases where it can take away your keyboard, you get all your screen real estate back, which is great. One of the cool things I really liked about the power keyboard was it has multiple Bluetooth connections and they kind of just created a mobile Bluetooth keyboard in a sense.

• 1:36:46David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:36:46Andrew Manganelli?

Where like this could connect to your phone, but this could also connect to your Vision Pro and you don't have to type in the air anymore. This could connect to your Apple TV. So you don't have to use the remote arrow buttons to search for things.

• 1:36:57David Imel?

  That's huge.

• 1:36:58Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. So like this is now just kind of, especially if you keep it with your phone.

• 1:37:02David Imel?

Universal, pocketable Bluetooth keyboard that's also a battery bank that if you can pair it easily to things, that would be awesome.

• 1:37:07Andrew Manganelli?

And then there's a, he said there's multiple pairing and it's just a keyboard shortcut to swap between the pairs.

• 1:37:13David Imel?

  Oh, that's so smart.

• 1:37:14Andrew Manganelli?

  So, yeah, launch price $79.

• 1:37:16David Imel?

  Which is pretty good.

• 1:37:17Andrew Manganelli?

I mean, battery banks aren't that cheap. It's definitely more expensive than a regular battery bank, but it has to have the sliding mechanism and a keyboard that they put a lot of effort into.

• 1:37:25David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:37:26Andrew Manganelli?

After launch price, it'll be 109, which that's pricey, but I really think the people who would want this will want it. I also like how now it's not just a phone in a case all of the time and long. If there are scenarios where you think you need it.

• 1:37:39David Imel?

  Right.

• 1:37:39Andrew Manganelli?

A little more. And it also is now a battery bank as well, which is awesome. I didn't see.

• 1:37:44David Imel?

  It's nice.

• 1:37:44Andrew Manganelli?

How big it was. Also a huge shout out to Michael. He opens the video keynote with like, I've seen a million of them and let's do them, right? This whole thing was announced at fully inspect with price at like two minutes and 45 seconds into the video, including the intro.

• 1:37:59David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:38:00Andrew Manganelli?

  So, bravo.

• 1:38:01David Imel?

Yeah. I think this makes a lot more sense. Their, their problem before was that they needed to make it for every individual phone.

• 1:38:08Andrew Manganelli?

  Yes.

• 1:38:09David Imel?

And they eventually got it out for the Razr, but like every year when they update the phone, like Apple updated the camera bar. So then it didn't, you know, you had to buy a whole new case and they cost over a hundred dollars and it just like, doesn't make a lot of sense. And so. Having something that just uses MagSafe slash Qi2, that is just a universal keyboard that you can also use with Vision Pro, you can also use with your Apple TV or whatever. It just makes like way more sense. And it's a battery bank, which is just, you know, it is a little bit like thick.

• 1:38:38Andrew Manganelli?

It's bulky for sure, but it's a battery bank.

• 1:38:39David Imel?

Yeah, it's a battery bank. So I don't think you're gonna wanna have it on your phone all the time, but it is kinda nice that you can just have your phone normal for most of the time. And then when you wanna get into some keyboard action. And I like that it slides up. They also showed that it does work with foldable phones unfolded. So even like the Z Fold 7, it'll work with.

• 1:39:00Andrew Manganelli?

Well, yeah, because even if it's not connected, if you have the, um, I can't even remember what the trifold is, but now the trifold could be all the way out, and now you have a hand keyboard in front of you also.

• 1:39:10David Imel?

But the Z Fold 7, like if you put, if you like magnetize it to it, it actually, like the keyboard will be low enough that you can like type on it.

• 1:39:19Andrew Manganelli?

  Sideways or?

• 1:39:21David Imel?

  Like when it's open. Really?

• 1:39:23Andrew Manganelli?

But then it'd be off to one side, right?

• 1:39:26David Imel?

It didn't look like that in his video.

• 1:39:28Andrew Manganelli?

Well, I'm assuming then, then he flipped it landscape and folded it up.

• 1:39:32David Imel?

  Yeah, oh, maybe.

• 1:39:33Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:39:33David Imel?

  That's probably what happened.

• 1:39:34Andrew Manganelli?

  Which is awesome.

• 1:39:35David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:39:35Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, that's really cool.

• 1:39:36David Imel?

Pretty cool. I mean, you know, obviously, Michael Fisher's gonna be somebody that tries, probably said, "We have to do this, we have to do this, we had to do this," at all the design meetings. Glad that he got his voice through.

• 1:39:48Andrew Manganelli?

It's the perfect time that now Qi2 accessories or Qi2 ready is so much more prevalent. That like even if phones don't have the MagSafe magnet, you can probably find a case.

• 1:39:57David Imel?

Even though there's like, the Pixel uses Qi2 and the, um, what is it, the Skyline, the HMD Skyline? And that's basically it, except for our next product we're gonna talk about, which is another Clicks product.

• 1:40:11Andrew Manganelli?

I didn't even realize this had.

• 1:40:12David Imel?

  Qi2, baby.

• 1:40:14Andrew Manganelli?

  I missed that completely.

• 1:40:15David Imel?

So, okay, there's another product that Clicks announced called the Clicks Communicator, which if you know Michael Fisher, makes a lot of sense.

• 1:40:22Speaker 01

  It's a reference.

• 1:40:23David Imel?

It's a reference to Dyrus Trek.

• 1:40:26David Imel?

And it's basically, the idea of it is, it's similar to the idea of what Palm was when they launched their phone, except it's not like micro. It's like, it's a different form factor. It has like a square display with a keyboard. It kinda looks like a Blackjack or BlackBerry, like the original BlackBerry. I consider this the R/Android phone. It's like everything that R/Android wants in a device.

• 1:40:49Speaker 01

This is so interesting to me.

• 1:40:50David Imel?

It is specifically tailored to mostly just be a communication device. So it uses a modified version of Niagara Launcher, which if you ever used Niagara, it's basically this descending list of letters on the side of your screen that just lists your apps out. So it's supposed to be like the anti-social media, anti-scrollable device because you could have TikTok on it, but it's gonna have these big bars on the side because it's not a vertical display. It's like a square display.

• 1:41:19Speaker 01

Yeah. It is so clearly indicated as a communicator because as a physical keyboard.

• 1:41:23David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:41:24Speaker 01

Which, you know, obviously is going to, well, for most people is going to be the ideal way to type out a lot of stuff.

• 1:41:29David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:41:30Speaker 01

Is this really interesting to me for two reasons.

• 1:41:31David Imel?

  Uh huh.

• 1:41:32Speaker 01

One is because I think I would enjoy using something like this, although I'm a smartphone person, like I use my smartphone keyboard all the time. But two, it is such a good product idea as a new like startup type of company.

• 1:41:46David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:41:47Speaker 01

I've been asked probably a trillion times in my lifetime, "Hey, shouldn't you make a phone? Like, couldn't you, you review all these phones, shouldn't you compete?" And it's like, "No, this is the most competitive, like, impossible-to-breakthrough category to make a new product. I could never just make a smartphone in my bedroom or something like that. That's ridiculous." But a product like this, they have all of the right, uh, obviously this is a very specific targeted genre for like what the product is, but then they don't have to have the best camera, because this is not a thing that's designed about having the best camera. This doesn't have to have the best screen. This doesn't have to have the best processor or even software. Obviously, a new startup, we hear, you know, Carl pay for nothing, talk all the time about how, oh, it takes so much extra work for a team to make all this new software.

• 1:42:31Speaker 01

Okay, well, we'll use Niagara Launcher. Like, they have all these things that are appropriately trimmed down and not trying to compete with smartphones, because the whole thing isn't competing with smartphones.

• 1:42:40David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:42:41Speaker 01

So it's a really interesting, decently new thing.

• 1:42:44David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:42:45Speaker 01

That I think will find a home because it's not going to be ideally compared with smartphones, or you're missing the point.

• 1:42:49David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:42:50Speaker 01

It is different from a smartphone.

• 1:42:51David Imel?

It's so clearly made by somebody in the community that we are all in, because like...

• 1:42:56Andrew Manganelli?

  My favorite thing, notification LED.

• 1:42:58Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:42:59Andrew Manganelli?

Like, come on, we've all been asking for it. Yeah, in the power button.

• 1:43:02Speaker 01

  Smart.

• 1:43:03Andrew Manganelli?

And like, it can be based on contacts or based on apps that are giving you notifications.

• 1:43:07Speaker 01

It's what we have always asked for.

• 1:43:09Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, exactly. And it's because this is a thing that they're saying it's a second phone optimized for communicating.

• 1:43:16Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:43:16Andrew Manganelli?

So much of it's supposed to be based on triaging inbox and like seeing when you want to actually like pick up your phone. And it's because like, maybe you don't care about some emails right now, but if you're getting the Slack color notification, maybe that's what you do need to pick your phone up for.

• 1:43:33Speaker 01

Like every, every photo of this with a screen on shows like the messages hub, which is just like answering, replying to messages. That's what the thing is best at.

• 1:43:41David Imel?

Yeah. Which is what's for, I mean, it's really, it's really shipped as like a weekend phone. Like you use it on the weekend to just kind of like get stuff done or like a secondary device. If you're like a business person.

• 1:43:51Andrew Manganelli?

Can you use this as your main phone?

• 1:43:53David Imel?

You could, yeah. It's a full Android phone.

• 1:43:55Andrew Manganelli?

This is where I'm getting kind of confused. Yes, it is a full Android phone. They said you can download apps. You can download like David's TikTok or YouTube or whatever on it. I'm confused a little bit because it has.

• 1:44:05David Imel?

  I will answer.

• 1:44:06Andrew Manganelli?

  Its own SIM card.

• 1:44:07David Imel?

  Yes.

• 1:44:07Andrew Manganelli?

It has, they're saying second phone, so it's like a phone you use as a companion?

• 1:44:13David Imel?

  Yes.

• 1:44:13Andrew Manganelli?

With your regular phone, but it, does it have a second phone number?

• 1:44:16David Imel?

Uh, yes. So I saw this in the, in the script last night. So I texted Michael Fisher to get you an answer for this.

• 1:44:24Speaker 01

Oh yeah. Speaking of which, full disclosure.

• 1:44:25Andrew Manganelli?

Oh, we know in like. Yeah, we love Michael Fisher. He was just on the show like three weeks ago. With a grain of salt, maybe one of those cool grains that are vibrating at 30,000 hot back knife that I really want. If you're still listening.

• 1:44:36David Imel?

It used to be my roommate. Uh, we see each other like twice a week. So if you would think I'm lying, then that's fair. I'm doing my best here.

• 1:44:45Speaker 01

  It's a great disclosure.

• 1:44:49David Imel?

Let's see what he said. I said, question. Oh, yeah.

• 1:44:52Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 1:44:53David Imel?

Uh, he said, yeah, we've seen some confusion around this. It is a full phone with a prime, uh, physical SIM and eSIM support, but you need a second number. We're not doing anything at the moment in terms of number mirroring or forwarding. The target customer either uses mostly federated messaging apps like Telegram or WhatsApp or whatever.

• 1:45:11Speaker 01

  Singing ones.

• 1:45:12David Imel?

  Yeah, or Slack or whatever.

• 1:45:13Speaker 04

  I'm in.

• 1:45:15Andrew Manganelli?

  This is where I.

• 1:45:16David Imel?

With multiple sign-ons and/or maintains two phone numbers, like Marquez. Anyway.

• 1:45:21Speaker 01

Yeah. So when they say companion phone, it's not paired in any way to your phone.

• 1:45:25David Imel?

  No.

• 1:45:25Speaker 01

It's just you have a separate phone that you try to use less and you have this as your main communicator.

• 1:45:30David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:45:30Speaker 01

And you answer your Slack messages on this. You answer your Telegram messages, all the things that you're signed into that will sync and will mark as read everywhere else.

• 1:45:36David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:45:37Speaker 01

  That's.

• 1:45:38Andrew Manganelli?

I'm just curious if this could be someone's primary device.

• 1:45:42Speaker 04

  It definitely could.

• 1:45:43Speaker 01

It runs Android and you can install whatever Android apps you want.

• 1:45:47David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:45:47Speaker 01

  It's just not ideal.

• 1:45:49David Imel?

It's fully over a lot of the players.

• 1:45:51Andrew Manganelli?

Cause I don't think a lot of people are going to be buying this as a secondary device outside of our sphere.

• 1:45:57David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:45:58Andrew Manganelli?

  Really?

• 1:45:58David Imel?

  Well, maybe the business community.

• 1:46:00Andrew Manganelli?

I feel like business people just get iPhones.

• 1:46:02David Imel?

  I have.

• 1:46:02Andrew Manganelli?

An old iPhone or something, or a Samsung phone with Knox.

• 1:46:04David Imel?

I've seen a couple of people with BlackBerrys on.

• 1:46:06Andrew Manganelli?

Or like work phones. That's what I mean. Work phones for business phones. Like you just get issued an iPhone.

• 1:46:12David Imel?

  Usually, yeah. I don't know.

• 1:46:14Andrew Manganelli?

I, my thing was like, I, I think this is awesome. I would want it, which what I want might be impossible. So I think that's totally fair, but like, I would want it to use my number because I still use text messaging so much.

• 1:46:28David Imel?

I mean, you could just use those as your main phone.

• 1:46:30Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:46:31David Imel?

  That's cheap too.

• 1:46:31Andrew Manganelli?

The thing is, this would be my.

• 1:46:33Speaker 01

  This problem.

• 1:46:33Andrew Manganelli?

This would be my weekend phone. This would be my weekday phone because.

• 1:46:37David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 1:46:37Andrew Manganelli?

I'd get a lot of stuff done at work. I would be able to really quickly see notifications on it. And when I get home and I only have two hours before Lane goes to bed.

• 1:46:45David Imel?

  Doom scroll.

• 1:46:46Andrew Manganelli?

No, I can't doom scroll because this is what I'm using. Whereas my normal phone on the weekend where maybe I have more time to screw around on it, or I'm capturing more things.

• 1:46:54David Imel?

  That's when you.

• 1:46:55Andrew Manganelli?

Based on what we're doing, that's when I use my.

• 1:46:56David Imel?

  So how about this?

• 1:46:57Speaker 04

  Great point.

• 1:46:58David Imel?

How about you get, you switch to Google Fi, you get one of their data only Sims that's free. You put the data only SIM in your Pixel. You use this on, as your main phone and then on the weekend, you don't have to respond to texts anyway.

• 1:47:10Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. My real thing is I think I'd rather almost just use this as my only phone and now that I'm carrying a camera around with myself all the time.

• 1:47:17Speaker 01

Yeah, honestly, yes. I think a lot of people are gonna wanna use this as their only phone.

• 1:47:21Andrew Manganelli?

But my other issue is that being the keyboard nerd on this, I have zero nostalgia for phone keyboards.

• 1:47:27Speaker 01

  Okay, however.

• 1:47:28Andrew Manganelli?

But I do wanna try it really bad because it seems like they put a lot of effort into it.

• 1:47:31Speaker 01

So a big problem that people had with the original Clix was that like the keys were a little bit too close to each other and they were pretty small. Because this does not have to adhere to that classic 21 by 9 aspect ratio and it's wider because it's a square screen, the keys are actually quite a bit bigger. So you might have a better experience typing on this thing than you do on a computer.

• 1:47:51Andrew Manganelli?

This has just always been what confuses, well, not confusing me, what keeps me personally from the Clix line of stuff. Is because I do have like the nostalgia factor for physical keyboards, but there's something like I'm so good now with the onscreen keyboard, like swiping and all that. Like it's so good. I don't know if I go back, if I would still be as good.

• 1:48:10Speaker 01

There might be a learning curve. I have a feeling, because this is what happened when I tried Clix, is like there is a learning curve where I get dramatically slower when switching to a new keyboard, but perhaps, after using it for a while, I could be just as fast, if not faster, and enjoy it more. And it's got voice to text. But it is very frustrating to be a slow typer.

• 1:48:27Andrew Manganelli?

The voice to text, like you can customize the side button also, and one of the things to do is you press it and hold it and it automatically brings in speech to text and then when you let go, it just sends it. Like, it's just like an easier way to communicate.

• 1:48:41Speaker 01

I needed to let go and then let me review it before sending it. Because speech to text has done me so good before. Also, it has a headphone jack.

• 1:48:50Andrew Manganelli?

It has a headphone jack, it has micro SD.

• 1:48:53Speaker 01

  That's micro SD expansion.

• 1:48:54Andrew Manganelli?

Like I said, this was built by somebody.

• 1:48:57Speaker 01

What do you need micro SD for if you're not doing media? Expansion, storage expansion. But what are you storing?

• 1:49:01Andrew Manganelli?

  What do you not want?

• 1:49:02Speaker 01

Your messages. Yeah, I have 500 gigabytes of texts. What?

• 1:49:08Speaker 04

Yeah, I feel like it should have like 64 gigs.

• 1:49:10David Imel?

Yeah, the cameras are notably not that good, but like, who cares?

• 1:49:13Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:49:14David Imel?

I have never cared about my phone camera.

• 1:49:16Andrew Manganelli?

  That's...

• 1:49:17David Imel?

  I don't know if I believe you.

• 1:49:18Andrew Manganelli?

  That's a lie.

• 1:49:19David Imel?

I only sometimes care about my phone.

• 1:49:24David Imel?

I've never, with a straight face, I've never cared about this camera.

• 1:49:27Speaker 01

I've nev- yeah. I have never thought once about a camera in a phone, David Amell.

• 1:49:32David Imel?

  Not a single time.

• 1:49:33Speaker 04

Notable not caring about photos and cameras.

• 1:49:36David Imel?

Haven't made multiple videos about it at all.

• 1:49:38Andrew Manganelli?

They also, uh, like you said, they updated the keyboard in a bunch of different ways, from the font to the size to the spacing. It also can be, can work as a trackpad, uh, like you can scroll across it, which is also kinda nice because since the screen is smaller, now your thumb is not in the way. Um, along with that, the, you can do a bunch of shortcuts through certain buttons. There's specifically a clicks button on it, but you can program, uh, different shortcuts on there.

• 1:50:06Speaker 04

I love it. It's like Raycast on my phone, just like quick key bindings and everything.

• 1:50:11Andrew Manganelli?

Cause I had them. There is a launch price of, what is it?

• 1:50:16David Imel?

So the act- so the actual price is going to be $4.99.

• 1:50:20Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 1:50:21David Imel?

There is a early bird price, um, reservation price, which is $3.99. So I think if you pay in full now, you can get it for a hundred dollars cheaper.

• 1:50:33Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:50:33David Imel?

And then there's a reservation deposit of $200. So you have to, um...

• 1:50:37Andrew Manganelli?

But then also it says to lock in the early bird price.

• 1:50:40David Imel?

  Oh yeah, that's confusing.

• 1:50:40Andrew Manganelli?

  That's why I'm confused. Okay.

• 1:50:41David Imel?

  Uh...

• 1:50:42Andrew Manganelli?

Cause you probably... Oh, but if you do pay in full, you get two back covers. Cause it has a replaceable back cover.

• 1:50:47David Imel?

So it's got a colored back cover and you can just swap them out for a different color if you want.

• 1:50:51Speaker 04

  Can you replace the battery?

• 1:50:54Speaker 04

If I could hot swap batteries?

• 1:50:55David Imel?

That's a great question. If you can replace the back, I...

• 1:50:57Speaker 04

  I don't think so.

• 1:50:57David Imel?

  I doubt it.

• 1:50:58Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh my god.

• 1:50:59David Imel?

I doubt it, but that would be amazing. But then they probably couldn't IP...

• 1:51:03Speaker 04

Yeah, no, I'm... It's G2 and silicon carbon. I don't think you can...

• 1:51:06David Imel?

There's also a fingerprint sensor on the, on the spacebar.

• 1:51:08Andrew Manganelli?

  The spacebar, yeah.

• 1:51:09David Imel?

  This is amazing.

• 1:51:10Andrew Manganelli?

Also, the reason the notification LED is on the side button is because whether it's face up or face down on the table, you'll still be able to see it.

• 1:51:18David Imel?

And I don't remember if you guys remember the BlackBerry, um...

• 1:51:22Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:51:23David Imel?

The back BlackBerry, god. It was the Android one that slid out. It went... Remember that?

• 1:51:29Andrew Manganelli?

  Was it the?

• 1:51:29David Imel?

  The Priv.

• 1:51:30Andrew Manganelli?

  Priv.

• 1:51:30David Imel?

Priv. The Priv had a touch sensitive keyboard, so you could like, you could use it as like a mouse by just scrolling your finger and it kind of hurt a little bit. This does the same thing.

• 1:51:40Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, the trackpad.

• 1:51:41David Imel?

The trackpad is touch sensitive, so you can like scroll your finger around it and it kind of hurts a little bit.

• 1:51:47David Imel?

Yeah, it's crazy. And then they've got a bunch of different colors. It's just, it's so cool.

• 1:51:50Andrew Manganelli?

  In my eyes.

• 1:51:51David Imel?

  It's affordable.

• 1:51:52Andrew Manganelli?

This is, we talk so much about dumb phones and this is not a dumb phone, but this feels like the better version of all of those phones of like a productivity phone, a non-distracting phone.

• 1:52:04David Imel?

  It's the perfect.

• 1:52:05Andrew Manganelli?

I think this is better than all.

• 1:52:06David Imel?

And the perfect, again, it's like if I, if someone came out with a $500 phone that had a bad camera and had like a bunch of stuff that's like not up to competing with other $500 flagships, you'd be mad, but this is such a specific product.

• 1:52:19Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 1:52:20David Imel?

That does such a specific thing that doesn't really have competitors. The cameras are, I mean, it's 50 megapixel, it has OIS, it's got a 24 megapixel front-facing camera. I can guarantee it's not gonna be as good. It's not gonna be good. Pixel or whatever $500 phones out there. For sure. It's good enough. But it has Chi 2, which most phones don't have. Pixel, think about the $500 Pixel. The Pixel has it. If you buy a $500 Pixel, you get Chi 2, you get a good battery, you get, Tensor's not good, but you get really good cameras. Well, and also it didn't launch at $500. Well, what's a 9A cost? 9A? Yeah, I guess the A. It's like. The A is 550, I think. Yeah. So, but this, I'm not expecting it to do those things. I'm expecting it to have an amazing keyboard and to do the notification light and the Chi 2 and the. And a headphone jack. Headphone jack.

• 1:53:02David Imel?

Yeah, well, it has 256GB of storage, which the Pixel doesn't have, by the way. If we remember. Hilarious. If we remember. That's hilarious. Yeah.

• 1:53:12Andrew Manganelli?

  End expandable storage.

• 1:53:13David Imel?

Micro SD up to 2TB. You want to have a 2TB texting phone? Let's freaking go, baby. How many messages you can store with 2TB?

• 1:53:21Andrew Manganelli?

All of them, all of the messages. We're Pixel, we have the best camera ever. Here's 128GB. We literally just sent text messages, double it.

• 1:53:29David Imel?

Yeah, so I texted Fisher, uh, literally yesterday and I was like, so, cause his office is near my apartment and I was like, you don't have one just lying around that I could bring into the podcast, do you? And he was like, ah, man, we brought them all to CES, but I would love to get you some immediately if you want.

• 1:53:44Andrew Manganelli?

I'm gonna daily. We'll take five.

• 1:53:45David Imel?

So, yeah, we'll take five. Anyway.

• 1:53:49Speaker 03

The Pixel 9A is on sale right now at google.com or googlestore.com. It is currently $3.99.

• 1:53:56David Imel?

  Well, so is this.

• 1:53:58Andrew Manganelli?

  Nice.

• 1:53:59David Imel?

  If you preorder it.

• 1:54:00Speaker 03

  And you get more.

• 1:54:01David Imel?

  You get more stores.

• 1:54:05David Imel?

Anyway, I just think it's cool as heck and I think that if social media did not exist and forced us to do everything in 21 by 9, this is what we could have just on the market all the time with many different options, but social media had to standardize everything.

• 1:54:23Speaker 04

This segment was not sponsored by clicks in any way.

• 1:54:25David Imel?

It wasn't. Well, it doesn't matter that he's one of my best friends. It's fine. Yeah. You think I'm lying? If you think I'm lying, maybe. It's possible. I could be tricking you.

• 1:54:39Speaker 03

Are we gonna talk about the AI assistant that's built into it?

• 1:54:42David Imel?

  Um, I don't know. There's no way.

• 1:54:44Speaker 03

  I'm joking.

• 1:54:45David Imel?

  It's just joking.

• 1:54:46Andrew Manganelli?

It's just Michael Fisher. He pops up in the corner.

• 1:54:49David Imel?

  It's like a weeaboo thing.

• 1:54:51Speaker 03

It's like Michael Fisher in a Star Trek, like Starfleet uniform.

• 1:54:54David Imel?

  Wait.

• 1:54:55Speaker 01

  That would be so good.

• 1:54:56David Imel?

  I have to tell you.

• 1:54:57Andrew Manganelli?

  Don't give him any ideas.

• 1:54:59Speaker 03

He's like, what do you need?

• 1:55:01David Imel?

Honestly, yeah, the notificationality thing is huge.

• 1:55:03Andrew Manganelli?

  It's so good.

• 1:55:04David Imel?

I said to him last night, it was like three cents of cost, unlimited, unlimited value.

• 1:55:10Speaker 04

  Unlimited power.

• 1:55:11David Imel?

And the colors on the back that you can get are like this, like sea foam blue. There's like a gray that's kind of like a granite gray. There's like the cool orange that's kind of like burnt. There is the green that's sort of like a forest green.

• 1:55:26Speaker 03

  Waveform green as we, uh.

• 1:55:28David Imel?

  We have.

• 1:55:29Speaker 03

From that Reddit post that was like.

• 1:55:31Andrew Manganelli?

  That only like one color?

• 1:55:36David Imel?

There's like a wine color. There is a slate gray. There is neon yellow, which only Michael Fisher likes.

• 1:55:43Speaker 03

  What?

• 1:55:44David Imel?

  Wait.

• 1:55:44Speaker 03

No, me too. I would, that's my favorite color.

• 1:55:46Andrew Manganelli?

Andrew has a piss boy right now. I have the phone, that's.

• 1:55:49Speaker 03

No, this is like, this is neon.

• 1:55:51David Imel?

  It's piss.

• 1:55:51Andrew Manganelli?

You all are fake. I'm the real piss boy. I can't use that.

• 1:55:59David Imel?

No, you know what? Leave it in, leave it in. Leave it in. There is a, there's like a, like a burnt hot pink purple thing, it's thing. And then there is, there's a burnt magenta, I guess we'd say. And then there's a leather back.

• 1:56:13Speaker 04

  Was that leather or wood?

• 1:56:14David Imel?

Looks like leather to me. Yeah, it's leather.

• 1:56:17Speaker 04

  Orange is the right color.

• 1:56:18David Imel?

  It might be vegan leather.

• 1:56:19Speaker 01

I'm gonna preorder, I'm gonna reserve one. I will hopefully review it. I'm gonna check it out.

• 1:56:24David Imel?

Oh, and we forgot to mention, the actual body color also comes in three colors. It comes in white, green, and black.

• 1:56:30Speaker 04

  Oh, there's a green. White's the correct.

• 1:56:32David Imel?

  There's a forest green, though.

• 1:56:34Speaker 04

I know, but the white looks so, I'd rather it be white with a green back.

• 1:56:37David Imel?

I just always worry about white products, like if they're gonna in my pocket just turn like a weird color. Patina. Yeah, it'll pick up the, the blue jeans. I don't know, I don't know, might not. Anyway.

• 1:56:48Speaker 01

  Speaking of worried.

• 1:56:50David Imel?

I'm worried about the next trivia question.

• 1:56:52Speaker 04

As you should be, because we spoke about Lego.

• 1:56:57David Imel?

  My ego.

• 1:56:58Speaker 04

  Three hours ago.

• 1:56:59David Imel?

Three hours ago, right at the beginning. I did not expect this to go this long, but I should have known.

• 1:57:03Speaker 04

Currently, the most expensive set you can buy on the website is what? And for how much? Two points on the line.

• 1:57:12David Imel?

  Okay.

• 1:57:12Speaker 04

How specific do we have to get?

• 1:57:14David Imel?

  Very specific.

• 1:57:15Speaker 04

  Closest price without going over.

• 1:57:17David Imel?

  Without going over.

• 1:57:17Speaker 04

I just heard of. I just heard of a new set they're releasing.

• 1:57:23Speaker 04

And it's very specific. Yeah, are you counting that one?

• 1:57:26Speaker 03

Is it sets that you can currently buy on the shelf right now? Because the one that they announced.

• 1:57:31Speaker 04

  It's launching January 24th.

• 1:57:34David Imel?

  So it's not out?

• 1:57:35Speaker 04

You could buy it, but it'll get to you on January 24th.

• 1:57:39David Imel?

So the answer is something I first.

• 1:57:40Speaker 04

I don't wanna say anything else. There's a bunch of them, but it's like the one that's currently on the website, sort by highest price. What's that first one?

• 1:57:46David Imel?

Oh, so I'm not gonna get that. I'm not gonna get any points this year. Told you I should be worried. Well, I'm gonna learn something new today. Answers will be at the end like usual. We'll be right back.

Support for the show comes from Jira by Atlassian. So AI is only as useful as the context it has to work from. But when that context is scattered across tools like threads and DMs, that means your team and your AI agents end up flying kind of blind. That's the problem Jira solves. What's the goal tied to your project? What got decided last week in Slack? Atlassian's teamwork graph pulls all of these pieces together from Jira, Confluence, Slack, GitHub, and more. So nothing falls through the cracks. With Jira, you can actually share that context with the AI agents you already use, like Claude, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot. Assign them work directly or connect your agents through MCP. Spend less time digging through endless links and DMs, less time chasing down what got decided and by who, and more time actually shipping. Learn more at jira.com.

Welcome back. This next segment, we are going to do 2026 predictions, but I'm gonna spice it up a bit. This is going to be a competition.

• 2:00:00Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, no.

• 2:00:00Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 2:00:01Speaker 01

  What?

• 2:00:01Speaker 04

I'm calling it Call Your Shot. So you have to call your shot for the rest of the year. You're making your prediction, but we are going to revisit this at the end of the year, and I'm gonna tally up the correct predictions and the wrong predictions. So you wanna be accurate, but not too accurate. You wanna be like-

• 2:00:17Andrew Manganelli?

  Closest but not going over.

• 2:00:18Speaker 04

Yeah, closest but not going over. Alright, so first question. I'm just gonna ask you guys a bunch of questions, and you guys are gonna make your predictions.

• 2:00:25Speaker 01

Okay. So yes or no, basically?

• 2:00:26Speaker 04

No. Some of them are like-

• 2:00:28Speaker 01

  Over/under?

• 2:00:29Speaker 04

Yeah, over/under. Name a product, you know?

• 2:00:31Andrew Manganelli?

  Scam reel.

• 2:00:32Speaker 04

For example, what is one product that will not ship this year?

• 2:00:37Speaker 01

  Oh, easy. Cybercab.

• 2:00:40Andrew Manganelli?

  It's too easy. That doesn't-

• 2:00:42Speaker 04

  What?

• 2:00:42Andrew Manganelli?

  Cybercab.

• 2:00:43Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:00:43Speaker 04

  Is that your take?

• 2:00:44Speaker 01

Well, cuz they announced it would ship this year, and I think that's a pretty good take that it will not.

• 2:00:49Andrew Manganelli?

I mean, there are hundreds of thousands of robo taxis by the end of 2025.

• 2:00:52Speaker 01

Of course. Of course. We hear that every day.

• 2:00:56Andrew Manganelli?

  Ship.

• 2:00:57Speaker 01

  Ship. Zen, the Zen phone.

• 2:01:03Speaker 04

  No.

• 2:01:05Speaker 01

If we're just trying to tally as many correct-

• 2:01:07Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 2:01:07Speaker 01

That's one thing, but if we wanna make like a bold prediction-

• 2:01:10Speaker 04

  I'll say-

• 2:01:10Speaker 01

It still has to be a prediction. It's just-

• 2:01:12Andrew Manganelli?

Can I say the... I'm gonna say Rabbit R2, but just whatever this like three-in-one rabbit thing is.

• 2:01:20Speaker 01

Vision Pro 2. I think, I like Cybercab because it was announced that it would ship this year.

• 2:01:26Speaker 04

  Right.

• 2:01:26Speaker 01

Yeah, it has to be something that's been announced. You can't just like make up a thing.

• 2:01:29Andrew Manganelli?

My thing's like a rumor. It's also funny cuz my prediction last year was there would be a Rabbit R2. And I was wrong, so I'm doing the opposite.

• 2:01:37Speaker 01

Well, what else have they announced will come out this year?

• 2:01:41Andrew Manganelli?

Or something that might be rumored to come out, or like-

• 2:01:44Speaker 01

  Oh, the razor thing?

• 2:01:45Andrew Manganelli?

The razor thing. Like you could, like iPhone Air would be an interesting thing.

• 2:01:49Speaker 01

  iPhone Air 2?

• 2:01:49Andrew Manganelli?

I think it makes it, but like-

• 2:01:51Speaker 01

Didn't they say they weren't gonna make it this year? Well, that's the question.

• 2:01:54Andrew Manganelli?

That's not something we have for sure.

• 2:01:56Speaker 01

Folding iPhone is another one? No, that's coming out this year. People all think that's this year. It's coming out. I know, I know, it's coming out.

• 2:02:01Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh.

• 2:02:02Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 2:02:02Andrew Manganelli?

I'll go that. No folding iPhone this year.

• 2:02:05Speaker 01

Okay. Oh, well, you're wrong on that one.

• 2:02:08Andrew Manganelli?

I tell you, if you get that point, that could be a huge point.

• 2:02:12David Imel?

  Inside or no?

• 2:02:12Speaker 03

It's possible that it could, it's possible that it could not come out, but I, just based on everything I've read from like Ming Chi Quo and stuff like that, it's like, it would almost be more expensive for it not to come out this year than to put it out and have it be bad.

• 2:02:25David Imel?

  Can't air power this.

• 2:02:26Andrew Manganelli?

  Siri.

• 2:02:28David Imel?

I was gonna, I was literally, I was thinking that. I was like, is the new Siri?

• 2:02:33Speaker 03

Guys, we're missing the obvious one, the easy, the slam dunk, the Kareem hookshot.

• 2:02:37David Imel?

  You can get a point.

• 2:02:38Speaker 03

  Yeah, I will.

• 2:02:39Andrew Manganelli?

  What is the robot?

• 2:02:39Speaker 03

I said it two weeks ago. Yeah, it's the 1X Neo. There's no way that's coming out this year.

• 2:02:44David Imel?

Was that supposed to come out in 2026?

• 2:02:45Speaker 03

It's supposed to come out in 2026.

• 2:02:46David Imel?

Oh, okay. That's a good one. That's a good one. Yeah.

• 2:02:50Andrew Manganelli?

So we all think Pickle's coming out.

• 2:02:52David Imel?

Do we think Pickle's coming out? I wanted to say the new Siri. I think Pickle is coming out. I think it's just gonna be bad. Yeah. Yeah. I wanted to say the new Siri, but I feel like at Dub Dub, they, they can't not re-announce it.

• 2:03:05Andrew Manganelli?

That's what we said last year.

• 2:03:07David Imel?

Oh, it's true. Didn't it get announced at Dub Dub last year?

• 2:03:09Andrew Manganelli?

  No, two years ago.

• 2:03:13David Imel?

Yeah. But it's still not out. Yeah, maybe this year they just spend talking about folding displays.

• 2:03:19Speaker 03

Wait. I feel like I have to ask a question about my Neo prediction.

• 2:03:23David Imel?

  What?

• 2:03:23Speaker 03

Like, if they just send people a lifeless corpse, like, like, like a mannequin that doesn't work, do I lose?

• 2:03:31Andrew Manganelli?

  I think right now.

• 2:03:32Speaker 03

Like, what does ship mean? I can't believe we're here where we have to say like, what does ship mean?

• 2:03:36Andrew Manganelli?

I think if they ship and it's still just, um, teleoperated, that counts because that is what they said they were gonna do. So you would lose that bet. But a lifeless corpse that doesn't even turn out, no. Well, they're not gonna do that.

• 2:03:48David Imel?

  Tesla Optimus.

• 2:03:49Andrew Manganelli?

And we're thinking along the lines of a while ago where we said like, when does the F-150 Lightning ship? And I was like, we're saying like 50 people, non-review, hands-on.

• 2:03:59Speaker 03

Okay, so it's, it's, it's Ford Tesla's Cyber Lightning rules.

• 2:04:04David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:04:04Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 2:04:05Speaker 03

All right. And I will maintain what I said last episode, that if this does ship in 2026, even Heliapi, I'll eat more hot sauce.

• 2:04:13Andrew Manganelli?

I can't wait for some, and it gets to Fiji, the hot sauce.

• 2:04:17Speaker 03

If that, yeah, you have permission, Mr. Neo. I'm assuming the guy who founded the company's name is either Mr. Neo or Mr. 1X.

• 2:04:25Andrew Manganelli?

  Natural.

• 2:04:26Speaker 03

  Because all companies are.

• 2:04:29Speaker 03

  But.

• 2:04:30Speaker 04

  Like Mr. Apple.

• 2:04:30Speaker 03

Yeah, like Tim Apple, founder, and Bill Microsoft. And Elon Tesla. No, Elon PayPal. No.

• 2:04:38Speaker 04

  It was Nikolai.

• 2:04:39David Imel?

  Elon.

• 2:04:39Speaker 03

Elon. No, it's Elon boring, guys. That's it. Am I right? No, yeah, you have permission to send one to the studio and have it hella up hot sauce into my mouth.

• 2:04:47Andrew Manganelli?

  Nice.

• 2:04:47David Imel?

  Nice. GJ6?

• 2:04:52David Imel?

Whoa, is that an actual? I don't feel like it could get delayed. I don't feel like. Are you just throwing it out there? I'm kind of throwing it out there. I don't feel like it could get delayed again, but I've been wrong many times. So if you get it wrong, is there a penalty in?

• 2:05:07Speaker 04

No, it's just less chance of winning.

• 2:05:11David Imel?

Okay, got it. Okay, yeah, I'll stick with mine then.

• 2:05:15Speaker 01

  My new Streetlight Manifesto album.

• 2:05:20David Imel?

Yeah. How about, ooh, okay, here's one. The, okay, this is actually a good one. The Honda Afila Sony car that they did announce at CES is gonna ship this year. I bet you it will not ship.

• 2:05:33Speaker 01

The SUV or the car? Because they rolled out a brand new SUV without even shipping the car.

• 2:05:38Speaker 04

  I'll take either one.

• 2:05:39Andrew Manganelli?

  If either one shows up.

• 2:05:40David Imel?

  The car.

• 2:05:41Speaker 01

The car. Okay. Yeah, I like that. I like that guess.

• 2:05:44David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:05:45Speaker 03

  Will threads federate?

• 2:05:47David Imel?

  No. It's over.

• 2:05:49Speaker 01

Threads federate. Now, can we get a definition?

• 2:05:52David Imel?

  It's over.

• 2:05:52Speaker 03

  Will feds threaderate?

• 2:05:55Speaker 01

I'm asking for a definition because at the moment I share to threads and it shares to the fediverse, but that's not what you're talking about. So what do you, what do you mean by?

• 2:06:03Speaker 04

The full federation would be someone replies to you on Mastodon. You see their reply on threads. You can like their reply, which you can currently do, but you can also reply.

• 2:06:17Speaker 01

  Yeah, you can.

• 2:06:18Speaker 04

  Which you cannot currently do.

• 2:06:19Speaker 01

  Can't reply to their.

• 2:06:19Andrew Manganelli?

  Can I say something?

• 2:06:20Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 2:06:21Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah. You know why the fediverse will never work? Because you've been trying to explain it to us for three years and we're still asking the same four questions.

• 2:06:28Speaker 01

  It's so easy.

• 2:06:30Andrew Manganelli?

  It's, it's like.

• 2:06:31Speaker 01

You post something on Mastodon and you see it on.

• 2:06:33Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, it needs to get to the point where we don't need to explain it. That's the issue.

• 2:06:36Speaker 03

Picture a world where you cannot email me because you have Gmail and I have Hotmail.

• 2:06:42Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 2:06:43Speaker 03

Now picture not that. That's the Fediverse.

• 2:06:46David Imel?

  Everything works.

• 2:06:48Speaker 04

  So everyone says no?

• 2:06:49Speaker 03

  The entire Fediverse is over?

• 2:06:50David Imel?

  No.

• 2:06:51Speaker 03

  Oh, just the Threadiverse?

• 2:06:52David Imel?

  The Threadiverse is over.

• 2:06:53Speaker 03

Yeah, that makes sense. Will Apple or Samsung get a silicon carbon battery product? Phone, product, product or phone? What do we think?

• 2:07:03Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, you have to... Oh, they make so many products. What if my Samsung washing machine has silicon carbon?

• 2:07:09Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 2:07:09David Imel?

Well, Samsung or Apple? Those two companies only?

• 2:07:13Speaker 01

Specifically those two because we've already seen them from the Chinese.

• 2:07:16Andrew Manganelli?

We have to pick one or just yes or no?

• 2:07:18Speaker 01

  No, either one.

• 2:07:19David Imel?

So I have some context that might help this answer. When I was at Google I/O last year, a Pixel engineer came up to me and he said, "I know you guys keep wondering where the silicon carbon is coming in the US, but I just so you know, all the Chinese companies are shipping it and it's very unsafe." And like it gets like, it has way less charging cycles than regular lithium ion and we're not using it because yeah, it's higher capacity and lasts longer, but it, they die within like two years.

• 2:07:49Speaker 03

  It also expands.

• 2:07:50David Imel?

And they expand worse and blah, blah, blah. So it seems like the Western companies are more concerned with like longevity and/or safety, especially Samsung, who has had battery problems in the past, which would lead me to believe that nobody's gonna use it this year. Although, does iPhone Air use silicon carbon?

• 2:08:10Speaker 03

  No.

• 2:08:10David Imel?

  No, it doesn't.

• 2:08:12Speaker 01

So that's an interesting, I've heard some of those same anecdotes from people who work at these companies. I think that that means that at the end of this year, we'll know if that's true or not because we'll have two-year-old, like 1+13 will be two years old. And so we'll have two-year-old silicon carbon phones out there that will either still be doing fine or they will start to have, they'll start to show their flaws. So I think we'll probably continue to see no silicon carbon from the big two. For one more year.

• 2:08:43David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:08:44Speaker 01

But we'll also find out if that was a mistake or not.

• 2:08:46David Imel?

I think next year is when the Western companies will start shipping silicon carbon, but not this year.

• 2:08:51Speaker 01

  Interesting.

• 2:08:51Andrew Manganelli?

Okay. I'll just say... I'm gonna say yes. I'm going, I want to win this game, or I want to lose this game.

• 2:08:58Speaker 04

  Yeah. Okay, nice.

• 2:08:59Speaker 01

  Bold pick.

• 2:09:00Speaker 04

Uh, next question. Will the Pixel 11 get a redesign?

• 2:09:04Andrew Manganelli?

Can we do, will the Pixel 11 base storage be 256?

• 2:09:08Speaker 01

It has to be. You would think.

• 2:09:10Andrew Manganelli?

  I agree.

• 2:09:10Speaker 01

Now, do we define redesign by like, big redesign?

• 2:09:13Andrew Manganelli?

  No.

• 2:09:13Speaker 01

  Or just like?

• 2:09:14Andrew Manganelli?

  Just a new redesign.

• 2:09:14Speaker 01

A refinement from like, from seven to eight?

• 2:09:16Speaker 04

Yeah, because nine to 10 was like, the same phone, you know, so.

• 2:09:19Speaker 01

It'll have, it'll still have a camera visor. It's gonna look the same.

• 2:09:22Andrew Manganelli?

I think the visor's gonna look different. I think it's gonna be a redesigned visor, but still be a visor. Kind of similar to how it went from the like, melting over the edge to now being its own.

• 2:09:30Speaker 01

  I agree.

• 2:09:31Andrew Manganelli?

Something about that will change to be more, obviously not the 10.

• 2:09:35Speaker 01

Do you think it's gonna be more unibody, like the iPhone, but then have like, the glass charging back?

• 2:09:40Andrew Manganelli?

  That'd be cool.

• 2:09:41Speaker 01

  Like aluminum?

• 2:09:42Speaker 04

Is, would that count as a redesign?

• 2:09:44Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:09:44Speaker 04

Yeah? I don't think they're gonna do that.

• 2:09:46Speaker 01

I agree with you. I think it will be a slightly different visor, but I don't think it's enough to be a redesign. Like, a redesign, when you say that, I, I picture them going with something that looks very different, which, I don't know.

• 2:09:58Speaker 04

Like, you can still, like a regular phone upgrade. Like, all the pixels, you knew they were pixels, you know?

• 2:10:02Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:10:03Speaker 04

  But...

• 2:10:04Speaker 01

Like, what Samsung does from year to year is not a redesign.

• 2:10:06Speaker 04

  No, no.

• 2:10:07Speaker 01

What Apple did with the Pro phone this year is a redesign.

• 2:10:11Speaker 04

Yeah. I would argue every pixel until the nine to 10 was a redesigned.

• 2:10:14Andrew Manganelli?

  So...

• 2:10:15Speaker 04

So that's kinda what I'm thinking.

• 2:10:16Andrew Manganelli?

Wait, every pixel from nine to, from what?

• 2:10:19Speaker 04

From everything until the nine to the 10 was a redesigned.

• 2:10:21Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:10:22Andrew Manganelli?

  Uh...

• 2:10:23Speaker 04

  It was a different phone.

• 2:10:23Speaker 01

You could tell it was a Pixel, but it was a different phone.

• 2:10:25Andrew Manganelli?

Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 were super, I would say 7 and 8 was not a redesign, 8 to 9 was a redesign, 9 to 10 was not a redesign.

• 2:10:33Speaker 04

  Yeah, okay, that's fair.

• 2:10:34Speaker 01

I guess when I picture redesign, I picture like, going from the ground. Like, it was a slightly updated design, but I don't think that's a redesign, you know? A redesign is like, let's go back to the drawing board.

• 2:10:43Speaker 04

Pixel 8 and 9 were different.

• 2:10:45Andrew Manganelli?

I know. I said 7 and 8 were the same, and 8, and 9 and 10 are the same.

• 2:10:49Speaker 01

Got it. Yeah, TikTok. Well, that would mean that they're gonna redesign it again, and 11 and 12 will be the same.

• 2:10:54Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 2:10:55Andrew Manganelli?

I think something, like, they might do like, a two-tone color between the bump, although I guess that it doesn't connect, it doesn't?

• 2:11:03David Imel?

They're also selling so well right now that I feel like they're gonna be a little bit scared to change anything, but.

• 2:11:08Speaker 01

Okay, I'm going with, uh, I'm going with, y- yes, they will slightly update the visor. So that's a redesign.

• 2:11:16Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 2:11:16Speaker 01

Okay, yeah, I'm going with that.

• 2:11:17David Imel?

  I'm gonna go with no.

• 2:11:19Speaker 04

It's gonna be the same as the Pixel 10.

• 2:11:21Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:11:22Speaker 04

  I kinda wanna go yes.

• 2:11:24Speaker 01

That would be very Samsung with them.

• 2:11:27Andrew Manganelli?

I wanna go there will be a redesign. We're gonna have to really figure out how to define that.

• 2:11:32Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 2:11:33Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 2:11:33Speaker 01

  It'll be orange. It's a redesign.

• 2:11:37Andrew Manganelli?

Alright, next question. What will be the phone of the year?

• 2:11:40Speaker 01

Whoa, way too early prediction for phone of the year.

• 2:11:44Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, phone of the year is a crazy one.

• 2:11:45David Imel?

  iPhone Fold!

• 2:11:47Speaker 01

Kidding. Well, okay, so if we think iPhone Fold's gonna come out.

• 2:11:50David Imel?

  It will.

• 2:11:51Speaker 01

It, that's, that's an option, right? Okay. We're gonna get, we know the obvious ones are gonna come out.

• 2:11:56David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:11:56Speaker 01

We know there's gonna be a new S26 and a new iPhone and a new Pixel and a new...

• 2:12:02Andrew Manganelli?

  And a new Zenf.

• 2:12:03Speaker 01

  Oh. Exactly, yeah.

• 2:12:05Andrew Manganelli?

  Let's just say the RG.

• 2:12:06Speaker 01

A new Xiaomi. Xiaomi 17 Ultra is coming.

• 2:12:09David Imel?

And probably the 18 and 19 and 20 in the same year, yeah, probably.

• 2:12:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:12:12David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:12:13Speaker 01

What is gonna be the phone of the year?

• 2:12:15David Imel?

  Oppo Find X10.

• 2:12:16Andrew Manganelli?

The OnePlus 15s and then the 16. I was gonna say.

• 2:12:19David Imel?

  Oppo Find X10 Pro.

• 2:12:20Andrew Manganelli?

OnePlus 16 finally decides to put a reasonable camera in it.

• 2:12:25Speaker 01

  That would be huge.

• 2:12:26Andrew Manganelli?

  Above reasonable.

• 2:12:26David Imel?

I mean, that was everyone's like.

• 2:12:27Speaker 01

  Flagship camera?

• 2:12:28David Imel?

That was everyone's problem with it.

• 2:12:30Speaker 01

If that happened, I agree that if that happened, it would be phone of the year. I just don't think that's gonna happen.

• 2:12:34Andrew Manganelli?

I think, I believe in you, OnePlus.

• 2:12:37Speaker 01

Alright, Andrew's gone phone of the year, OnePlus 16.

• 2:12:39David Imel?

I could see it. That's a good guess.

• 2:12:42Speaker 01

Um, I'm trying to read my future self. What, what I think would happen. I'm gonna... Let's go with, uh...

• 2:12:53Andrew Manganelli?

My guess can literally do whatever he wants.

• 2:12:56Speaker 01

I can decide which one wins. I, I can make sure you guys are wrong too.

• 2:13:00David Imel?

  Wow.

• 2:13:00Speaker 01

No, I think, let's go Pixel.

• 2:13:01Andrew Manganelli?

  But will you?

• 2:13:02Speaker 01

Let's go Pixel finally figures itself out. Tensor.

• 2:13:06David Imel?

  LMAO.

• 2:13:07Speaker 01

I think I, I think I thought this last year too.

• 2:13:09Andrew Manganelli?

  You did.

• 2:13:10Speaker 01

I think this is the year the Pixel finally has a high quality chip.

• 2:13:15Andrew Manganelli?

Your prediction last year is the year of the Pixel?

• 2:13:18Speaker 01

  Yeah, Tensor, yeah.

• 2:13:19David Imel?

I think it's gonna be the clicks communicator.

• 2:13:21Speaker 04

  Yeah, baby!

• 2:13:22Speaker 01

  Whoa, January, interesting.

• 2:13:24Speaker 04

  Shell.

• 2:13:26David Imel?

You would probably never choose that as your phone of the year, though. So I'm gonna say, honestly, one plus eighteen is a good, good choice.

• 2:13:34Andrew Manganelli?

  Eighteen?

• 2:13:36David Imel?

  I don't know.

• 2:13:38Andrew Manganelli?

If the one plus eighteen comes out next year, it's definitely getting phone of the year.

• 2:13:42David Imel?

I would, I want to go with the one plus two.

• 2:13:45Andrew Manganelli?

I mean, you can. You can, if you want.

• 2:13:47David Imel?

I could. I'll do that. I think they're gonna fix the camera.

• 2:13:51Andrew Manganelli?

  Whoa.

• 2:13:52David Imel?

They're not gonna make it good, but they're gonna make it not trash.

• 2:13:54Andrew Manganelli?

Okay. They should partner with like a really good camera company.

• 2:13:57David Imel?

  Like Hasselblad?

• 2:14:00David Imel?

  Oops.

• 2:14:00Andrew Manganelli?

  Rip.

• 2:14:01David Imel?

Whoops. Yeah, they already got rid of that.

• 2:14:04Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 2:14:04David Imel?

  One plus eighteen.

• 2:14:06Andrew Manganelli?

  Sixteen.

• 2:14:07David Imel?

Sixteen. You guys want to make predictions on phone of the year?

• 2:14:09Andrew Manganelli?

I'm going iPhone fold. Yeah. Yeah.

• 2:14:12David Imel?

  Okay.

• 2:14:12Andrew Manganelli?

You guys think first generation folds?

• 2:14:14David Imel?

It's gonna be two thousand dollars.

• 2:14:16Speaker 03

I think it's gonna be hard to give, because we now know like what a good fold is kinda supposed to be.

• 2:14:22David Imel?

  A tri-fold.

• 2:14:22Speaker 03

  Other company.

• 2:14:24David Imel?

You know, ooh, you know it could win. The tri-fold. It's not gonna happen, but if the iPhone Air adds a silicon carbon battery and a second camera.

• 2:14:32Andrew Manganelli?

No way. I think it'll have the second camera.

• 2:14:33David Imel?

Dude, if it had the silicon carbon battery, that'd be so crazy. It's not gonna do it, but that would be pretty nice. It would be.

• 2:14:38Andrew Manganelli?

You would lose two points on this.

• 2:14:40David Imel?

That's too much innovation in one year. Yeah. Takes time. They have to keep selling stuff.

• 2:14:45Speaker 03

I do think the next regular generation iPhone, or maybe the Pro two, is gonna be an absolute banger.

• 2:14:53Speaker 03

I think with everything going into the, the fold and now the Air, I think they're gonna do a pretty big.

• 2:14:57Andrew Manganelli?

What do you think? I mean, this year was already a banger.

• 2:15:00David Imel?

Yeah, I was gonna say the reason.

• 2:15:01Andrew Manganelli?

You think they're gonna do it?

• 2:15:02David Imel?

  One.

• 2:15:02Speaker 03

  Mm-hmm.

• 2:15:03Andrew Manganelli?

Like two X it next year?

• 2:15:04David Imel?

The reason it won this year was because it was so much better than last year. That's the reason it won.

• 2:15:09Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 2:15:10David Imel?

They finally did the things. So I don't think it's gonna win twice.

• 2:15:13Speaker 03

  That's a good point.

• 2:15:13David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:15:13Speaker 03

  Well, then the Vert two.

• 2:15:17Speaker 03

  It's the most expensive one.

• 2:15:19Andrew Manganelli?

No, it's the cheapest. Try and buy a personal assistant, twenty-four seven assistant, as long as they're not sleeping. Four or five thousand dollars.

• 2:15:27David Imel?

The Book's Palma. The Book's Palma Pro two.

• 2:15:31Andrew Manganelli?

  Cool.

• 2:15:31David Imel?

  Three, three.

• 2:15:32Speaker 03

What do you think Google is going to add to its graveyard this year?

• 2:15:37David Imel?

  Ooh. They're gonna add something.

• 2:15:39Andrew Manganelli?

  Gemini.

• 2:15:39David Imel?

There's no question they're gonna kill something. What are they going to kill? They're going to kill.

• 2:15:44Speaker 03

  AI overview. Kill AI overview.

• 2:15:49Speaker 01

Have they officially killed Google Assistant yet?

• 2:15:52Andrew Manganelli?

  That's a really good one.

• 2:15:53Speaker 01

  I would say yes.

• 2:15:54Andrew Manganelli?

My Google Assistant is acting like it's on its deathbed.

• 2:15:57Speaker 01

Well, do you have a Google Home?

• 2:15:59Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, that thing-

• 2:15:59Speaker 01

Has it switched to Gemini yet?

• 2:16:01Andrew Manganelli?

  No, but it is-

• 2:16:02Speaker 01

  All of mine have.

• 2:16:03Andrew Manganelli?

  Hurting.

• 2:16:03Speaker 01

So, my Google Home app is updated, and all of my Google Homes have switched to the new Gemini Assistant, so Gemini. So now I think it's time for them to fully officially sunset Google Assistant.

• 2:16:13Andrew Manganelli?

  I think that's a really good pick.

• 2:16:15Speaker 01

I think it's probably already officially sunsetted. I'm not sure.

• 2:16:17Andrew Manganelli?

I don't think it is quite yet.

• 2:16:19Speaker 01

Let me just Google. Killed by Google.

• 2:16:21Andrew Manganelli?

  Man, my-

• 2:16:21Speaker 03

Google is, can we talk about real quick? Now I'm pissed because I said AI assistant. Can we talk about how at lunch today?

• 2:16:27Andrew Manganelli?

  Wait!

• 2:16:27Speaker 03

We all spent time just trying to Google stuff, and it took us 10 minutes to Google a basic fact because everyone's AI overview kept spinning out a different thing. And we kept being like, "Oh, I don't know if that's right. My AI overview says 79. My AI overview says 45." Even though we're all Googling the same thing, I hate this feature so much.

• 2:16:47Andrew Manganelli?

Can I, I forgot to say this before, but Ellis, you specifically will like this.

• 2:16:51Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 2:16:51Andrew Manganelli?

Okay, so, over the break, I was trying to do something in Notion. So, I thought, "It's Notion, let me use the Notion AI chat, because it's just something I can't figure out how to do." So anyways, half an hour of this thing just gaslighting me into like, "These are the buttons to press. This is what you need to do. This is the menu you need to go to. This is the database." Every time it told me to do something was not a thing that existed, and then I just give up. And I said, "So this is the first conversation we've had, and it resulted in no help. So if I've tried Notion AI one time and it's given me zero helpful results, what would the baseball batting percentage be of your helpfulness?" I said, "If you're defining helpful as got the results you wanted, then zero helpful results out of one attempt.

• 2:17:36Andrew Manganelli?

Baseball batting average equals hits divided by at-bats equals 0 divided by 1, which equals 0.000, which is 0%." And I said, "Do you think this belongs in the big leagues?"

• 2:17:47Speaker 01

  Divided by 0.

• 2:17:48Andrew Manganelli?

And it said, "Not based on what just happened." And I said, "Enjoy the minors, pal." And it said, "Fair."

• 2:17:54Speaker 01

  Rested.

• 2:17:55Speaker 03

In the car this morning, David and I were just talking about how like, we're all gonna feel so silly in like 10 years when we look back and think, wow, we really thought they were gonna be able to do everything. Like everything from like, cook a meatball Parmesan to, to invent a cancer drug.

• 2:18:14Andrew Manganelli?

This is, this specifically made me mad, and I tried a Google AI in Google Docs also. Those are like, you are the AI based on the product that I'm using. I feel like you should be able to tell me the things the product can do.

• 2:18:27Speaker 01

  Nah.

• 2:18:28Andrew Manganelli?

  Nope.

• 2:18:28Speaker 01

  Nah.

• 2:18:29Andrew Manganelli?

  So sorry.

• 2:18:30Speaker 01

I'm going, they kill Notebook LM.

• 2:18:33David Imel?

  Oh, really?

• 2:18:34Speaker 01

  And they kill.

• 2:18:35David Imel?

They put a dedicated app out for it last year.

• 2:18:37Speaker 01

  That's the end of that.

• 2:18:38Speaker 03

Now, think about how much revenue Notebook LM generates in the form of

• 2:18:44Speaker 01

  Podcasts.

• 2:18:45Speaker 03

No, insane amounts of data that people are just handing over to Google.

• 2:18:49David Imel?

  If people actually use it.

• 2:18:50Speaker 03

  The way.

• 2:18:51Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, that's a good.

• 2:18:51Speaker 03

The way that Notebook LM, people on Reddit talk about it is like, I uploaded like my entire iOS Notes app that's been there for 10 years. Oh, I uploaded like my entire 50,000 email inbox. Like, like people are uploading crazy swats of their data to Notebook LM.

• 2:19:09Andrew Manganelli?

Do you know how OpenAI was getting in trouble for they like uploaded all those books?

• 2:19:14Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 2:19:14Andrew Manganelli?

Is Notebook LM just the way to get all the users to upload all the copyrighted materials so that they can just listen to it as a podcast and then?

• 2:19:22Speaker 03

That also is not, because that, yeah, wow.

• 2:19:25Andrew Manganelli?

Because like, people are doing it for like textbooks and lectures and stuff like that. Is that just like, hey, feed me?

• 2:19:31Speaker 03

I mean, I, I don't know exactly what Google lets themselves train on, what they don't, but it would be my guess that Notebook LM is like amazingly valuable for them.

• 2:19:40David Imel?

28 minutes ago, OpenAI launches ChatGPT Health, encouraging users to connect their medical records.

• 2:19:49Andrew Manganelli?

I wasn't supposed to be giving my medical records to the GPT? Oh, no.

• 2:19:54David Imel?

Um. Waveform after dark. I think they're going to kill Project Starline.

• 2:20:03Andrew Manganelli?

  That's

• 2:20:04Speaker 03

  That'd be really sad.

• 2:20:04David Imel?

Because we kept it alive for one more year with our video. And I think Google's now like, yeah, never mind.

• 2:20:11Andrew Manganelli?

I'm worried anything I say, Google will be like, oh, we meant to kill that like two years ago. And now I remember.

• 2:20:17David Imel?

  All right, we've been paying

• 2:20:18Andrew Manganelli?

Is this the year Keep actually goes down?

• 2:20:21David Imel?

  No.

• 2:20:21Speaker 01

I'm sticking, I'm sticking with Google Assistant. It's also crazy. If you look at KilledByGoogle.com, however long you think that list is, it's so much longer.

• 2:20:29David Imel?

  299 products.

• 2:20:30Speaker 01

  It's so much longer.

• 2:20:30Andrew Manganelli?

What's the most recent one? Dark Web Reports?

• 2:20:33David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:20:34Andrew Manganelli?

Jamboard Chrome? Oh, Chromecast is dead. Holy cow.

• 2:20:38David Imel?

Yeah, they also Netflix killed the Chromecast, uh, this up and over the holiday break. You can no longer cast to Netflix anymore.

• 2:20:47Speaker 01

  Damn.

• 2:20:48David Imel?

Yeah. Anyway, uh, yeah, I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say, uh, Starline, Project Starline.

• 2:20:53Andrew Manganelli?

I want to guess like something like a YouTube feature.

• 2:20:57David Imel?

  YouTube.

• 2:20:58Andrew Manganelli?

  It's just.

• 2:21:03Speaker 03

  They're gonna kill YouTube search.

• 2:21:06David Imel?

  Please kill YouTube Shorts.

• 2:21:07Andrew Manganelli?

Part of me thinks they're gonna kill like, oh, oh, the, the hype thing. That, that'll be the end of the year.

• 2:21:13David Imel?

  That's going.

• 2:21:14Andrew Manganelli?

Yeah, YouTube hype, gone by the end of the year.

• 2:21:16Speaker 03

I don't think they're gonna keep voice comments around. I think they'll be funny for like a few months and then

• 2:21:21David Imel?

  As a test.

• 2:21:21Speaker 03

It's a really good, got the good one. Yeah. I like the idea. I like the idea of, at lunch, Eric was talking about just leaving comment, voice comments on the bottom of videos that's just screaming. So it's just like, ah, that was a funny video.

• 2:21:36David Imel?

  Nice.

• 2:21:37Speaker 03

All right, one or two more?

• 2:21:38Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah, two more.

• 2:21:39Speaker 03

  All right.

• 2:21:40Andrew Manganelli?

Will there be a black Pro iPhone this year?

• 2:21:43David Imel?

  Black? Absolutely yes.

• 2:21:45Andrew Manganelli?

  You think so?

• 2:21:46David Imel?

  Has to be.

• 2:21:46Andrew Manganelli?

  I think so.

• 2:21:47David Imel?

There. Has to be a black, a black.

• 2:21:50Speaker 04

Are you pleading or are you making a prediction?

• 2:21:52David Imel?

Both. What if they call it like? It's not too late. Space dark matter.

• 2:21:55Speaker 04

  Yeah, that's.

• 2:21:56David Imel?

  But it's still not.

• 2:21:56Speaker 04

It's fine. It's whatever we consider black.

• 2:21:58Andrew Manganelli?

I think, I think we give it to Tim and if Tim says it's black.

• 2:22:03Speaker 04

Well, like space gray is the black phone, you know, like it's space gray.

• 2:22:06David Imel?

  Dark neutral.

• 2:22:07Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 2:22:07David Imel?

  Dark neutral.

• 2:22:08Speaker 03

I think Marquez's can I shoot a reflective surface with this and see the phone is like the.

• 2:22:14Speaker 04

I don't mean like the piano black.

• 2:22:15Andrew Manganelli?

Which, I mean, the, the blue one.

• 2:22:17David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:22:18Speaker 04

Yeah, because the blue one's blue. That's midnight blue. It's a blue phone.

• 2:22:21David Imel?

  It's blue.

• 2:22:21Speaker 04

Like space gray, it's black, whatever.

• 2:22:23David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:22:23Speaker 04

  You know?

• 2:22:24David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:22:24Speaker 04

Like, are we getting another one of those?

• 2:22:27Andrew Manganelli?

  Space gray is not black.

• 2:22:28David Imel?

But I would, I would consider that a success.

• 2:22:30Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 2:22:31David Imel?

  You know? It's 18% gray.

• 2:22:33Speaker 03

You think this is, you think that's black?

• 2:22:35Speaker 04

Yeah. That's black because it's not.

• 2:22:39Andrew Manganelli?

  I don't agree with.

• 2:22:40David Imel?

  It's not reflecting any color.

• 2:22:41Speaker 04

I'm not talking about 50 shades of gray here. I'm saying, is there color or not?

• 2:22:45David Imel?

  Well.

• 2:22:46Speaker 04

  Wait, so is white black?

• 2:22:49David Imel?

I must say they will have a black phone. Because it seems to me that.

• 2:22:56Andrew Manganelli?

  He's saying pro, pro.

• 2:22:57David Imel?

  Pro, yeah.

• 2:22:58Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 2:22:58David Imel?

Because it seems to me that every, the TikTok cycle for them is like new phone, fun, like kinda colorful, interesting. And then the next year they're like hardcore scary. And then they go back into the fun, interesting, and then hardcore scary. And they kinda do that.

• 2:23:14Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 2:23:14David Imel?

  So I'm gonna say yes.

• 2:23:15Speaker 01

I also think they made a whole bunch of changes with the new Pro iPhone this year visually. This is my very scientific analysis. Next year, they're not going to redesign the Pro iPhone. But they still want you to have a way to be able to tell that you're holding the new iPhone. So it will not come in orange, or it will at least come in some new colors.

• 2:23:32David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:23:32Speaker 01

That you can hold up and be like, this is the new Pro iPhone.

• 2:23:35David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:23:36Speaker 01

And green and black is one of them.

• 2:23:38David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:23:39Andrew Manganelli?

So, but there was a black titanium iPhone, right?

• 2:23:43David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:23:43Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 2:23:43Andrew Manganelli?

  15.

• 2:23:44Speaker 04

  Yeah, 15.

• 2:23:45Andrew Manganelli?

I think it needs like, I don't know, some of those space grays are just not black to me.

• 2:23:49Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 2:23:49Andrew Manganelli?

  Where this is.

• 2:23:50David Imel?

  Okay, space gray, whatever.

• 2:23:51Speaker 04

  Okay, space gray?

• 2:23:52Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 2:23:53Speaker 04

Okay, so the black doesn't count?

• 2:23:54David Imel?

  Yeah, some dark neutral.

• 2:23:55Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 2:23:56David Imel?

  We're getting one.

• 2:23:56Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 2:23:56David Imel?

  I'm saying it's happening.

• 2:23:58Andrew Manganelli?

I'm still gonna say no. Midnight doesn't count?

• 2:24:01Speaker 01

  No, it's blue.

• 2:24:01Speaker 04

No, because it's midnight blue. And when you look at it, that's like a dark blue phone, you know?

• 2:24:05Andrew Manganelli?

I think midnight's been the closest to black. I don't know why.

• 2:24:08Speaker 04

  It's definitely been the closest.

• 2:24:09Speaker 01

The barometer is doesn't bother me.

• 2:24:12Speaker 01

Cause if it's blue, I don't want it.

• 2:24:15Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:24:15Andrew Manganelli?

  All right, last one.

• 2:24:16Speaker 01

Yeah, last one. Make it the hardest one. Will we hit a million subscribers? I wish. Come on, guys.

• 2:24:23Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, thanks for 500,000.

• 2:24:25Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 2:24:26Andrew Manganelli?

We wanted to do it by end, end of the year.

• 2:24:28Speaker 01

Squeaked it in. You can unfortunately no longer hype us.

• 2:24:32Andrew Manganelli?

Can I? That's why it'll die. That's why my prediction's going to be correct.

• 2:24:35Speaker 01

Yeah, we're unhypable now. I have a bunch of more predictions about iPhone colors. I think the Pro folding iPhone is only gonna be black or white. I think the colors will change for the new base iPhone and they will get rid of the fun green we all like. I think there's gonna be a dark neutral Pro iPhone color. I think the Air is going to come in a new color. They're gonna add a color for the second Air. Are they gonna add the camera?

• 2:24:57Speaker 03

I think they're gonna bring back the teal from the, from the 16.

• 2:25:00Speaker 01

That'd be nice. There's a couple of older colors that were banging. Universally liked that they could bring back.

• 2:25:06Speaker 03

The 12 series purple and the 16 series teal are just.

• 2:25:10Speaker 01

The 12 series blue as well, or Pro blue.

• 2:25:13Andrew Manganelli?

Can I make a bold prediction for Air color?

• 2:25:15Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:25:15Andrew Manganelli?

  Rose gold.

• 2:25:17Speaker 03

  Oh, I like it.

• 2:25:18Andrew Manganelli?

It makes so much sense on the Air.

• 2:25:20Speaker 01

Yeah. Yeah. And maybe on the fold. Maybe on the fold.

• 2:25:23Andrew Manganelli?

I think Fold's gonna be one color.

• 2:25:24Speaker 01

  Black.

• 2:25:26Andrew Manganelli?

You think it's gonna be black?

• 2:25:27Speaker 01

Yeah, it's either just black or maybe black and white. Space gray. Yeah.

• 2:25:32Andrew Manganelli?

I think it's gonna be one color.

• 2:25:33Speaker 03

I had the white and gold iPhone 4S. That was my first phone. And I, and I got it and I thought it was so funny to have a gold phone that I just started buying everything in my life in gold. And it culminated, I just thought it was, it culminated with my freshman year, like dorm sheets and bed being gold.

• 2:25:55Speaker 01

Oh, whoa. Ew, they got you.

• 2:25:58Speaker 03

I just thought it was so funny to be like the gold guy.

• 2:26:00Speaker 01

  That's crazy.

• 2:26:02Andrew Manganelli?

  I don't know why that's so funny.

• 2:26:04Speaker 03

It's really funny, right? It's like really funny.

• 2:26:06Speaker 01

Really tacky. The Rivian R2 is supposed to come out in 2026. It is. Do you think it's gonna come out? I do. I think it will come out in 2026.

• 2:26:16Andrew Manganelli?

For the sake of my reservation, I believe.

• 2:26:19Speaker 01

  You're in R2, not in R3?

• 2:26:20Andrew Manganelli?

  In R2, yeah.

• 2:26:21Speaker 01

Yeah, I think R2 will get more orders than R3. Really? Yeah. More popular category.

• 2:26:27Andrew Manganelli?

  I agree.

• 2:26:28Speaker 01

But the R3 is so cool looking. The R3 is supposed to be cheaper and supposed to be way more fun, but the R2 as a category is just higher volume.

• 2:26:35Speaker 03

But the R3X will be the best one.

• 2:26:36Speaker 01

It will be the best one. Yeah. Looks like a Subaru.

• 2:26:41Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 2:26:42Speaker 01

  Alright.

• 2:26:42Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 2:26:42Speaker 03

  That was it.

• 2:26:43Andrew Manganelli?

  I think we did it.

• 2:26:43Speaker 03

  That was it.

• 2:26:44Speaker 01

Alright, time to get zero points on trivia. Here we go. We need the marker. I have one. You have one. I have one.

• 2:26:51Andrew Manganelli?

I might just need to share.

• 2:26:52Speaker 01

Padphone or phonepad? I'm thinking so hard.

• 2:26:54Andrew Manganelli?

  Pad tie.

• 2:26:55Speaker 03

  Guys, which?

• 2:26:57Speaker 01

  Pad to you.

• 2:26:58Speaker 03

Which one is a fablet? Which one specifically is an eight inch fablet?

• 2:27:03Speaker 01

  Which is a phone.

• 2:27:04Andrew Manganelli?

Which one is an eight inch?

• 2:27:05Speaker 01

  A fablet phone.

• 2:27:06Speaker 03

Fablet. Does not have a dock, no keyboard, just a straight fablet. The phonepad? Or the padphone?

• 2:27:16Speaker 03

  And remember.

• 2:27:17Andrew Manganelli?

No, no, don't say that part.

• 2:27:18Speaker 01

I think I got this right.

• 2:27:19Andrew Manganelli?

I think I know what you're gonna say.

• 2:27:21Speaker 03

You don't know what I'm gonna say.

• 2:27:22Andrew Manganelli?

  Okay.

• 2:27:24Speaker 03

  Phone.

• 2:27:24Andrew Manganelli?

No, that's what I was gonna say.

• 2:27:27Speaker 03

Phone in both of these cases is not spelled with a P.

• 2:27:30Andrew Manganelli?

It's exactly what I was gonna say and I was ready to make fun of both of them for it.

• 2:27:34Speaker 03

  No.

• 2:27:36Andrew Manganelli?

Ellis, we are on the same plane.

• 2:27:38Speaker 03

  Yeah, you're right.

• 2:27:39Andrew Manganelli?

We have worked together for so long.

• 2:27:40Speaker 03

  I thought you were afraid.

• 2:27:41Andrew Manganelli?

  Believe in me.

• 2:27:42Speaker 03

I didn't know. I thought you were gonna say like the order or something.

• 2:27:44Andrew Manganelli?

I know he just erased it too. And he has it still.

• 2:27:49Speaker 01

Wait, was I supposed to switch them?

• 2:27:50Andrew Manganelli?

I mean, I don't think it's gonna appear anymore, but.

• 2:27:54Speaker 03

  Marquez.

• 2:27:54Andrew Manganelli?

  I had my technicality.

• 2:27:56Speaker 01

  I wrote phonepad.

• 2:27:58Speaker 03

  Phonepad is correct.

• 2:27:59Andrew Manganelli?

  God.

• 2:28:02Speaker 01

You know, we had on the bingo that Ellis accidentally says the answer out loud before the the question is that.

• 2:28:08Andrew Manganelli?

  That is huge for me.

• 2:28:09Speaker 03

The phonepad is a fablet that, also, guys, we didn't acknowledge it. A six inch fablet is hilarious, right? Like, like.

• 2:28:18Andrew Manganelli?

  I thought you said.

• 2:28:19Speaker 03

It came in six or eight.

• 2:28:22Speaker 01

  Eight.

• 2:28:23Speaker 03

  Inches.

• 2:28:24Speaker 01

  Eight is crazy.

• 2:28:25Speaker 03

With a number in between that I, you know, I should.

• 2:28:27Andrew Manganelli?

  It's fine.

• 2:28:27Speaker 03

  It comes in eight.

• 2:28:28Speaker 01

  So it's phonepad?

• 2:28:30David Imel?

  With an F.

• 2:28:31Speaker 01

  With an F.

• 2:28:32David Imel?

  So Marquez changed his.

• 2:28:33Andrew Manganelli?

I could have at least had all of us at zero points.

• 2:28:36David Imel?

Not zero, we didn't finish the last season.

• 2:28:38Andrew Manganelli?

  Well, for this round.

• 2:28:39Speaker 01

It's just been so long since I've gotten points.

• 2:28:41Speaker 04

Can I, can I break in here? What did David and Andrew put?

• 2:28:45Andrew Manganelli?

  Padphone.

• 2:28:48Andrew Manganelli?

He put the same thing as I did.

• 2:28:49Speaker 04

Oh, yeah. Okay, so you both got it wrong.

• 2:28:51Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 2:28:51Speaker 03

  Cool.

• 2:28:52Speaker 04

So then, quick update on the score. After that correct answer, Marquez with 11, woo! Andrew with 14, and David also with 11. Look at that.

• 2:29:03Speaker 01

It means so much to me that I got a point that you guys didn't.

• 2:29:05Andrew Manganelli?

I want to take it away.

• 2:29:06Speaker 01

  11 Club! 11 Club!

• 2:29:10David Imel?

  Carry the one, baby.

• 2:29:11Speaker 04

  11, 11, make a wish. I bet you wish for 14 points.

• 2:29:16Speaker 01

There's two points up for grabs. I could get really close here.

• 2:29:19David Imel?

  Wow.

• 2:29:19Speaker 01

I'm not going to. I'm not going to.

• 2:29:21David Imel?

  I just got.

• 2:29:21Speaker 01

  But I could.

• 2:29:22David Imel?

  Someone call the ambulance.

• 2:29:23Andrew Manganelli?

Alright. After that, third degree burn.

• 2:29:26David Imel?

Wait, hold on. Why would the padphone not be a phone?

• 2:29:31Andrew Manganelli?

  That is unreasonable.

• 2:29:32Speaker 01

Just think about how you would name a product. If you were making a tablet, you'd end it with pad. And if you're making a phone, you'd end it with phone.

• 2:29:39David Imel?

  Yeah!

• 2:29:40Speaker 01

So the phone pad is the tablet.

• 2:29:41Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 2:29:42Speaker 01

The big, big screen. And the padphone is a phone that plugged into a thing to become.

• 2:29:47David Imel?

  Didn't I say padphone?

• 2:29:49Speaker 01

  No, you said phone pad.

• 2:29:50Speaker 03

No, phone pad is the correct answer.

• 2:29:51Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh yeah, you said padphone.

• 2:29:52Speaker 01

I said padphone. You said padphone, right.

• 2:29:54Speaker 03

Because think about it, it's like, it's like, I want a tablet.

• 2:29:57Andrew Manganelli?

Your whole explanation proved us right.

• 2:29:59Speaker 01

  I'm getting it.

• 2:30:00Andrew Manganelli?

You got it right! Wait a second.

• 2:30:02Speaker 01

  But yeah.

• 2:30:03Andrew Manganelli?

Think about how you wish. Everything I said, but the other way.

• 2:30:05Speaker 03

Wait, if you're padding the phone, who's driving the car?

• 2:30:09Speaker 01

This isn't something that only Pegatron would do.

• 2:30:11David Imel?

  Yeah, that's true.

• 2:30:13Speaker 04

So true, Basty. Okay, we spoke about Lego. The most expensive set that you can currently buy on the website at time of recording is what? And also, how much is that thing? Two points potentially up for grabs.

• 2:30:26Speaker 03

We didn't use the trivia question Mariah gave us at the break.

• 2:30:32Speaker 04

Oh, that is a good one. Okay, maybe we can do a bonus question.

• 2:30:36Andrew Manganelli?

You can get one right and one wrong, right?

• 2:30:38Speaker 03

Yes. Yeah, I got it. Do we not check it?

• 2:30:42David Imel?

Are we doing closes without going over?

• 2:30:44Speaker 04

  Yeah, closes without going over.

• 2:30:45David Imel?

  Okay.

• 2:30:45Speaker 01

  Price is Right. Hopefully.

• 2:30:49David Imel?

  Hopefully.

• 2:30:50Speaker 04

Flip 'em and read, what do you got?

• 2:30:54David Imel?

  Oh, interesting.

• 2:30:55Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 2:30:56Andrew Manganelli?

  I like it.

• 2:30:57David Imel?

I'll start. I want the cheapest. I said it's the Death Star. And I said that.

• 2:31:02Speaker 04

  Correct.

• 2:31:03David Imel?

  Oh, sweet.

• 2:31:03Speaker 04

  It's the Death Star.

• 2:31:04Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, wow.

• 2:31:05David Imel?

And I thought it was 5.99.

• 2:31:07Speaker 04

  5.99, okay.

• 2:31:08David Imel?

  Sorry, 5.49. I wrote 5.49.

• 2:31:09Speaker 04

  5.49?

• 2:31:10David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:31:10Speaker 04

I can't see the board. Can I get confirmation on that?

• 2:31:12David Imel?

  Yeah.

• 2:31:13Speaker 04

  All right.

• 2:31:13David Imel?

  I mean, it's Vegas.

• 2:31:16David Imel?

  I'm still lower.

• 2:31:18Speaker 04

  Okay, Andrew, what'd you say?

• 2:31:20Andrew Manganelli?

  I wrote 7.99.

• 2:31:22Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 2:31:22Andrew Manganelli?

  And I wrote Hogwarts Castle.

• 2:31:24Speaker 04

  Oh, no, unfortunately. Okay.

• 2:31:26David Imel?

  I said 9.99.

• 2:31:27Speaker 04

  9.99?

• 2:31:28David Imel?

And I said Imperial Star Destroyer, which used to be the most expensive set when I was a kid. But I should have assumed it was not.

• 2:31:34Speaker 04

Well, you still get one point for 9.99. That is exactly the price.

• 2:31:38David Imel?

  Go.

• 2:31:39Speaker 04

It was 9.99 and it is a Death Star.

• 2:31:41Andrew Manganelli?

Huh. I was so scared of good. The one I was talking about was. There's some new, uh, not a new Lord of the Rings battle, but uh, the, what battle is that?

• 2:31:50David Imel?

  The Battle of Mogs Deep?

• 2:31:53Andrew Manganelli?

Is it? It's whatever the one they do in that like big castle, not castle, it's like the, the walls that they go up all the white.

• 2:32:02David Imel?

You've watched Lord of the Rings?

• 2:32:04Speaker 01

Isn't there like a [BLEEP] in these Lord of the Rings?

• 2:32:06David Imel?

  There's only three.

• 2:32:07Speaker 04

There's three, but there's like extended cuts that it's like 2,800 hours or something.

• 2:32:12David Imel?

  Four hours.

• 2:32:13Andrew Manganelli?

Did it say how much, how much was this, Ellis? Battle of Minas Tirith.

• 2:32:18David Imel?

  What the heck is that?

• 2:32:19Speaker 04

  Bless you.

• 2:32:20Andrew Manganelli?

  You would know it.

• 2:32:22Speaker 04

How would this not cost more than this Death Star?

• 2:32:25David Imel?

  How many mini figures?

• 2:32:26Speaker 04

  How does?

• 2:32:26Andrew Manganelli?

  Yeah.

• 2:32:26Speaker 04

The, the Lego set of this.

• 2:32:29David Imel?

There's a Lego set of that?

• 2:32:30Speaker 04

Not have to be more expensive.

• 2:32:32David Imel?

How many mini figures does that come with?

• 2:32:34Speaker 04

The price I saw is from a leak, actually.

• 2:32:36Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh, okay.

• 2:32:37Speaker 04

So it's not, I, we don't know, but uh, yeah. Should we do the bonus question?

• 2:32:41David Imel?

  Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 2:32:42Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 2:32:42David Imel?

  I want it.

• 2:32:44Speaker 03

What the? This has, this actually, hmm, how do we, how should I phrase? Death Star is insane.

• 2:32:50Andrew Manganelli?

It is, although, all the Lego Star Wars ones have like really cool interiors that you can do.

• 2:32:54Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 2:32:56Speaker 03

I've got it, I've got it. We weren't originally gonna ask this question this week, uh, but it actually does pertain, because we've mentioned a lot of companies on this episode.

• 2:33:07Andrew Manganelli?

  Sure has.

• 2:33:08Speaker 03

  Today. A lot of businesses.

• 2:33:09Andrew Manganelli?

  Seattle Ultrasonics?

• 2:33:11Speaker 03

  That.

• 2:33:11Andrew Manganelli?

  Call me.

• 2:33:12Speaker 01

  The Seattle Ultrasonic Ultrasonic Knife.

• 2:33:14Speaker 03

That's it. You, this, it's the Seattle Ultrasonics. You win.

• 2:33:17Speaker 01

  Is that their football team?

• 2:33:19Speaker 03

Uh, the Supersonics is the now defunct NBA team that no longer plays there.

• 2:33:23Andrew Manganelli?

  Killed by Google?

• 2:33:24Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 2:33:26Speaker 03

Um, but, one of the companies we mentioned this week on the podcast is the world's largest tire producer by volume. They make more tires than any other company on the planet.

• 2:33:40Speaker 01

  We've talked about this.

• 2:33:42Speaker 03

  What company?

• 2:33:43Andrew Manganelli?

  Oh.

• 2:33:43Speaker 03

  Is it?

• 2:33:44Speaker 01

I gave it away. Damn it. I wanted to gain on Andrew. That would've been really funny.

• 2:33:48David Imel?

I don't know enough about cars.

• 2:33:51Speaker 01

  It's actually better.

• 2:33:53David Imel?

  Really?

• 2:33:54Speaker 01

  Uh, maybe.

• 2:33:56David Imel?

Oh, then I'm, then I'm wrong. Then I'm wrong.

• 2:33:59Andrew Manganelli?

  Marquez is giving nothing away.

• 2:34:00Speaker 01

  It's, yeah.

• 2:34:01Andrew Manganelli?

I mean, there were a lot of Apple car prototypes.

• 2:34:04Speaker 04

  That's true.

• 2:34:06Speaker 01

Samsung used to have a car.

• 2:34:07Andrew Manganelli?

I'm so sorry, David, you're gonna be so mad when you see the answer to this.

• 2:34:12David Imel?

Is it like, is it Google?

• 2:34:14Speaker 01

  No. It's your boy Lego.

• 2:34:17Speaker 03

  Nope.

• 2:34:18Speaker 01

  That's gotta be.

• 2:34:19Speaker 03

  It's Seattle Ultrasonic.

• 2:34:21Speaker 01

  Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

• 2:34:22Speaker 03

  It is Lego.

• 2:34:22Speaker 01

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.

• 2:34:25David Imel?

  It's Lego.

• 2:34:26Speaker 01

That can't be considered a real tire. So, yeah, it's a tire. It's a tire and a wheel. This is, because we were having this conversation, do you think there's more doors? I was literally about to bring that up. Wheels and they're, and that's a huge factor is how many.

• 2:34:38Andrew Manganelli?

We are like three hours of recording and you're bringing up the doors versus wheel argument? I literally need to get out.

• 2:34:44Speaker 01

I was about to say that.

• 2:34:45Speaker 03

I thought this was gonna be a hard one to fact check, but.

• 2:34:48Speaker 01

  It's not even close.

• 2:34:49Speaker 03

They, it's like literally not even close how many more tires they produce.

• 2:34:53Speaker 01

  Are they really considered tires?

• 2:34:54Speaker 03

  They're made of rubber.

• 2:34:55Speaker 01

Yeah. Do they have air in them? No. Well, a little bit. There's airless tires. Not for, they're not pressurized, but they have air in them.

• 2:35:01Speaker 03

The, the airless basketball is still a basketball.

• 2:35:03Speaker 01

Yeah. No, there's a lot of wheels.

• 2:35:05Speaker 03

Boneless, actually, I'm not gonna go there.

• 2:35:07Speaker 01

  Boneless chicken wings?

• 2:35:08David Imel?

How do they get the bones out of the chicken? They suck it out?

• 2:35:11Speaker 03

  You don't wanna know.

• 2:35:12Speaker 01

That's a perfect place to end this.

• 2:35:14Speaker 03

Actually, the machine they use is made by Seattle Ultrasound. It like vibrates the bones out of the-

• 2:35:20Speaker 01

Out of the meat. It's a good thing we don't take two weeks off every, every two weeks. Cause we would have way too much to talk about. But hey, thanks for sticking with us this week. Thanks for watching. Thanks for listening. Thanks for subscribing and getting us past 500K. It's onward to a million. This is the year we do it. Catch you guys on the other side. Peace.

• 2:35:37Andrew Manganelli?

Waveform is produced by Adam Alena, Ellis River, and part of Vox Media Podcast Network. And intro music was created by Vane Sil.

• 2:35:42Speaker 01

  Bingo. Let's go.

• 2:35:52Speaker 01

  Alright.

• 2:35:52Andrew Manganelli?

How long is that, 45 minutes?

• 2:35:54Speaker 01

  CEO.

• 2:35:54Speaker 03

  57.

• 2:35:55Andrew Manganelli?

  Was it actually?

• 2:35:56David Imel?

  That was the episode.

• 2:35:58Andrew Manganelli?

Do you know what's crazy? I deleted like 60% of the stuff I wrote about Pickle.
