• 2:17Tig Notaro?

  Pretty little episode.

• 2:19Mae Martin?

Welcome to another pretty little episode with your old pal, Mae Martin.

• 2:25Tig Notaro?

And your even older pal, Tig Notaro.

• 2:28Mae Martin?

  Nice to be here.

• 2:29Tig Notaro?

Nice to be where I am, you know, just doing normal things as a normal person, living a normal life.

• 2:35Mae Martin?

It sounds like you're hiding something when you say it like that. It sounds like you're doing weird shit.

• 2:40Tig Notaro?

Listen, I pride myself on, I'm not hiding anything. Did I tell you about the time I was sitting in my old house on the couch, curtains were open? Did I tell you this story?

• 2:52Mae Martin?

  No, no.

• 2:53Tig Notaro?

Oh, and the sun went down as I was working on my computer and I thought, I really need to get up and shut my curtains.

• 3:00Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 3:01Tig Notaro?

Cause people were, you know, walking by my place. And I just thought, I got nothing to hide.

• 3:07Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 3:09Tig Notaro?

This is all I'm doing. Who cares? I'm sitting on a couch returning emails.

• 3:13Mae Martin?

  Yeah, I like that.

• 3:15Tig Notaro?

  Yeah. I mean, I don't know. I just, I don't think I'm hiding anything.

• 3:19Mae Martin?

No, you, you, you, I've said before, maybe one of my favorite quotes is that happiness is when what you say, what you think and what you do are in alignment. And I feel like you do live that way. Like.

• 3:30Tig Notaro?

  I try to.

• 3:31Mae Martin?

  Yeah, you try.

• 3:32Tig Notaro?

I try to. And do you feel like you're far off from that?

• 3:34Mae Martin?

Yes. Well, I just am a bit of a people pleaser sometimes, I think. And.

• 3:41Tig Notaro?

Do you want to not be a people pleaser?

• 3:43Mae Martin?

Well, I, I reject like, there's a new kind of self-care therapizing language that people use sometimes about like, being like, the, the, like, like, that's very hard line, like, cut people out of your life. Just do, look after number one, do, you know, practice like rigorous self-care that means like, you're not emotionally accountable to anyone else. Everyone else is responsible for their feelings. And I don't like that. So I don't want to go too far that way, but I definitely do need to be a little. A little more boundaried.

• 4:21Tig Notaro?

I feel that same way. I mean, I don't, I don't feel harshly towards people. I mean, unless they're being totally weird and, you know, then I'm like Scram Clown.

• 4:32Mae Martin?

  Scram Clown.

• 4:34Tig Notaro?

Did I tell you the Scram Clown story?

• 4:36Mae Martin?

No, but oh, this rings a bell maybe that I said we need merch of Scram Clown, but I can't remember the story. What is it?

• 4:43Tig Notaro?

When Chris Fairbanks and I lived together, we were having a yard sale and somebody walked up and was acting very weird at our little table with our, our little pieces of garbage we were trying to sell.

• 4:58Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 4:58Tig Notaro?

And it really was becoming problematic. And I just went, all right, Scram Clown. And he was so flustered and he just shuffled off and I was, and Chris turned to me, I was like, wow.

• 5:12Mae Martin?

I have never heard that story.

• 5:13Tig Notaro?

  Oh, you haven't?

• 5:14Mae Martin?

We do need Scram Clown merch.

• 5:16Tig Notaro?

Okay. Yeah. It's just, it just hit me like a ton of bricks in that, in that moment of like, I don't have to sit here and be, and be patiently taking in his very uncomfortable weird stuff. And I thought if I step it up a notch and go beyond kind of my normal vibe, then maybe he'll leave. And I, I truly did it like, all right, that's it. Scram Clown.

• 5:42Mae Martin?

  I liked that a lot.

• 5:43Tig Notaro?

  He was gone.

• 5:44Mae Martin?

I did have a breakthrough once where I, cause on your deathbed, you're not going to be like, oh, I'm so glad I patiently sat in all those conversations with people who didn't give a shit about. And so one time I was on a date and I had been on a few first dates where the people hadn't asked me a single question about myself. And I'd been like doing all the.

• 6:04Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 6:04Mae Martin?

So after like 45 minutes, I was like, do you want to know anything about me? Like, would you like to ask a question?

• 6:11Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 6:12Mae Martin?

It felt good to say that, but it did ruin the vibe completely.

• 6:14Tig Notaro?

  Oh, for both people.

• 6:17Mae Martin?

Yeah. I mean, my vibe was already lost because I was already annoyed.

• 6:20Tig Notaro?

Yeah. I'm trying to think if I could bounce back, if I.

• 6:24Mae Martin?

If someone said that to you?

• 6:25Tig Notaro?

Someone said that to me, or if I said that to them. It would probably depend on their reaction.

• 6:32Mae Martin?

Yeah. Yeah. If they can be self-deprecating about it.

• 6:35Tig Notaro?

If they could, if they could really get real and in check in the moment and we could kind of. You know, they're like, I'm sorry, I was nervous and I just kept talking about myself.

• 6:47Mae Martin?

  I know.

• 6:48Tig Notaro?

  That probably opened me up.

• 6:49Mae Martin?

I think I didn't say it mainly, and you're right, that it comes from nervousness. Like even now, I'm like, oh, man, but they just probably were nervous.

• 6:56Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 6:57Mae Martin?

  But, uh.

• 6:58Tig Notaro?

  We'll never know.

• 7:00Mae Martin?

  We'll never know.

• 7:01Tig Notaro?

We will never know. Do you think about either of those people still?

• 7:04Mae Martin?

  No.

• 7:05Tig Notaro?

  Yeah, it's fine.

• 7:08Tig Notaro?

Is there anybody you still think about that you kind of almost?

• 7:11Mae Martin?

Oh, innumerable. I can't let things go. I'm a nostalgic sentimental person. I'm writing songs about people. I'm like, I cannot let things go. I love people.

• 7:24Tig Notaro?

But not just people you were involved with, but somebody, is there somebody that you just had one date with? And you just don't know quite why it didn't work out? And are you like, ah, ah, can't stop thinking about that person from 10 years ago?

• 7:40Mae Martin?

No, but I have sort of friends who are like, I wrote, I have a song on the album I put out called, I Love You So Much.

• 7:48Tig Notaro?

  Commercial.

• 7:49Mae Martin?

It's like about, you know, those friends that you have in your life where you're like, you're 100% my friend. I love hanging out with you and that's great. But if, if you said the word, I would blow up my whole life to like, you know what I mean?

• 8:05Tig Notaro?

Wait, no. Okay. You blow up your whole life to, to be with them?

• 8:10Mae Martin?

Yeah, like just the friends who you're like, I'm so happy being your friend. I love your partner. I love everything about you. But like, if that person turned on the charm one night or was like, hey, I have feelings for you, you'd be fucked. You'd be a goner.

• 8:23Tig Notaro?

  Uh huh.

• 8:24Mae Martin?

Anyway, I played that in London and a lot of, a lot of my friends were there. And apparently like six people thought it was about them. Cause I have these very like gray area friendships a lot, I guess.

• 8:36Tig Notaro?

  And so you.

• 8:37Mae Martin?

  In my twenties, anyway.

• 8:38Tig Notaro?

Was that song written for all of those people? Or was it one person?

• 8:43Mae Martin?

  One person.

• 8:44Tig Notaro?

  One person?

• 8:46Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 8:46Tig Notaro?

And you still feel that way about that person?

• 8:49Mae Martin?

Well, you don't know till it happens, really. I like love them as a friend. Have you ever written a song for someone?

• 8:55Tig Notaro?

I have, not good ones. I feel like I write music. Or I did, I used to. I don't anymore.

• 9:03Mae Martin?

  Like melodies and instrumental?

• 9:05Tig Notaro?

Yeah, instrumentals. It's more of what I would do and I was, I mean, every now and then I'd try and cram some words in there and it was like, this isn't a match. I'm not a songwriter.

• 9:17Mae Martin?

Why is like yearning so creatively productive? Like, there's that quote in The Great Gatsby that's like, "The object of his yearning could never live up to the yearning itself," or something like that. Like, when you actually get there, you're like, um, anyway.

• 9:34Tig Notaro?

Yeah, yearning, that's, it's a really interesting, I know that I, when I've been in that place, I need, I need space for my life and people and I need to just kind of

• 9:48Mae Martin?

  Stew.

• 9:49Tig Notaro?

Yeah, and just like be in like a music spiral and think about my feelings about the person and Yeah. All of that kind of stuff.

• 9:59Mae Martin?

  Love it.

• 10:00Tig Notaro?

Yeah, that's, that's what happens to me.

• 10:02Mae Martin?

So satisfying to just like, if you give yourself that space to wallow a little bit and like get emo, then I think you move through it faster.

• 10:11Tig Notaro?

  Yeah, for sure.

• 10:12Mae Martin?

And also, those are always the most relatable feelings in the world. Like, everyone has had that feeling.

• 10:19Tig Notaro?

Yes. Well, should we see if we can relate to anyone's feelings in their questions?

• 10:25Mae Martin?

Just so you know, this whole time I've been talking about you, that song I wrote.

• 10:30Tig Notaro?

  Onto our question.

• 10:31Speaker 00

Hey handsome pod, it's me, KJ, your other handsome friend. I just wanted to say thanks for all the laughs and May, thank you for your new album. I've been waking up with it in my head, listening to it every day.

• 10:45Tig Notaro?

  Nice.

• 10:46Speaker 00

And for that reason, I just want to know, what CDs are you guys putting on repeat all the time?

• 10:51Tig Notaro?

  CDs.

• 10:53Mae Martin?

  Oh, my God.

• 10:54Tig Notaro?

  I haven't put a CD on.

• 10:56Mae Martin?

Thanks for listening to the album. That's so nice to think of someone waking up and putting it on.

• 11:01Tig Notaro?

Yeah. What, what CD have you been putting on?

• 11:04Mae Martin?

What have I been listening to? I listened to the same kind of four people on repeat. I listened to Half Moon Run. This is Canadian band. They just put out a new single. I listened to Elliott Smith, The Beatles. And recently, getting back into Bob Dylan, because, because I guess everyone, because of that movie coming out. In my, in my teens, I felt like I had like a personal relationship to Bob Dylan. And then I've really forgotten that. And then I was listening to Hard Rain's Gonna Fall the other night and thinking, oh, my God, the lyrics like.

• 11:35Tig Notaro?

That is a good tune. Have you heard Edie Birkell's version of it?

• 11:39Mae Martin?

No, I'm writing that down. No.

• 11:40Tig Notaro?

I mean, don't just write it down and not revisit that.

• 11:43Mae Martin?

I have notebooks full of things I wrote down while you were talking.

• 11:47Tig Notaro?

I know, but it's so important for you to listen to Edie Birkell and New Bohemians.

• 11:53Mae Martin?

  A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall.

• 11:54Tig Notaro?

A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall. It is so wildly, I'm not crazy about cover songs.

• 12:01Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 12:02Tig Notaro?

But my Lord, is that perfection.

• 12:07Mae Martin?

Oh, man. Do you ever find, like, music is so evocative that if you're genuinely feeling down, you can't go there? Like, I've got to be in a good place to listen to sad songs because I want to feel something.

• 12:21Tig Notaro?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 12:21Mae Martin?

If I'm already down, I can't listen to

• 12:23Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 12:24Mae Martin?

sad songs. I gotta listen to like, sort of 90s R and B.

• 12:28Tig Notaro?

And so where does Alanis fit in your rotation?

• 12:33Mae Martin?

Well, after I saw Alanis live recently, I listened to Jagged Little Pill every morning while I worked out. And my personal trainer, he would put it on his little Bluetooth thing, and I would listen to the entire album. And some of those songs are sad to work out to. Yeah. I love her. What about you?

• 12:51Tig Notaro?

I dated somebody years ago, I think when that album first came out, that played it on repeat, repeat, repeat.

• 13:01Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 13:01Tig Notaro?

So, um, and then I think that it wasn't until.

• 13:06Tig Notaro?

Um, what was her song, "Thank You"?

• 13:08Mae Martin?

  "Thank You, India."

• 13:10Tig Notaro?

  I love that song.

• 13:11Mae Martin?

  "Thank You, Frail Tea."

• 13:13Tig Notaro?

I lo- do you like that song?

• 13:14Mae Martin?

  I love that song.

• 13:15Tig Notaro?

I love it so much. I think that's when Alanis got my attention.

• 13:20Mae Martin?

  Really?

• 13:21Tig Notaro?

Yeah, cuz the first, that other album, um, I enjoyed it.

• 13:27Mae Martin?

But you kind of had to rebel against the person you're dating who was obsessed as well, like?

• 13:31Tig Notaro?

Maybe, I don't know. It just, I was just like, oh yeah, this is good. And, um, but then, yeah, when "Thank You" came out, I was like, I don't know how much more perfect this song can be.

• 13:45Mae Martin?

  Yeah, you're right.

• 13:46Tig Notaro?

It ranks up there with, um, Edie Birkell's version of "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall."

• 13:52Mae Martin?

I can't wait to hear that. Yeah. What are you listening to in your house? Like, do your kids put stuff on and?

• 13:56Tig Notaro?

Yeah, I would say, I've never been like a, I think I've talked about how Max and Finn are very, well, Max is very into, um, pop punk, like, um,

• 14:08Mae Martin?

  I like, yeah.

• 14:09Tig Notaro?

  Like Blink-182.

• 14:10Mae Martin?

  Yes.

• 14:11Tig Notaro?

And he's so into Blink-182, Green Day. He's really into, what is it? Uh, what, American Rejects? What is that called?

• 14:21Mae Martin?

  Yeah, All American Rejects.

• 14:23Tig Notaro?

  All American Rejects. Like, he-

• 14:25Mae Martin?

  Good Charlotte?

• 14:26Tig Notaro?

Yeah, he's into all of that stuff.

• 14:28Mae Martin?

The best thing about seeing those bands live now, like Good Charlotte's still touring, is they haven't changed the lyrics. So it's still like, "That girl in class was mean to me. My dad didn't pick me up."

• 14:40Tig Notaro?

Yeah, "My dad didn't pick me up."

• 14:48Tig Notaro?

I know. I always think when we're driving them to school, cuz we alternate between that and like Eminem.

• 14:54Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 14:54Tig Notaro?

Cuz Finn just- I mean, is so into Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. And so we alternate between those two, but whenever the All American Rejects song, um, I don't want to be like you. You know that song?

• 15:09Mae Martin?

I don't want to be like you.

• 15:11Tig Notaro?

I don't want to be just like you.

• 15:13Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 15:14Tig Notaro?

It feels like such a song that they wrote specifically for kids that are feeling rebellious about their parents.

• 15:20Mae Martin?

  Hundred percent. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 15:22Tig Notaro?

Yeah. And so we're pulling up to the school to drop them off with the windows down and, you know, we have, you know, All American Rejects blaring or Eminem.

• 15:32Mae Martin?

  That's so good.

• 15:33Tig Notaro?

But I'm, I'm so enjoying being into their music.

• 15:39Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 15:40Tig Notaro?

  You know?

• 15:40Mae Martin?

Such a great way to bond with them too. And also it must be, it's funny how it's probably cathartic for them, those songs like that, even though they have, like, it doesn't relate to their experience at all, but just all kids have that, like, like some subconscious push against authority, even if it's their teachers, like, it must feel good to be like singing those tunes at full volume.

• 16:02Tig Notaro?

Yeah. And it's fun to, um, be their two moms in the front seat rocking out.

• 16:11Tig Notaro?

So that's kind of, it's, it's a new thing for me to, to be listening to music through somebody else's ears.

• 16:19Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 16:20Tig Notaro?

And, um, and it's not like my go-to, like, I was never into pop punk. I was into the Sex Pistols.

• 16:28Mae Martin?

  Yeah, punk, punk. Yeah.

• 16:29Tig Notaro?

Yeah. And, and when Stephanie, when we got together, you know, her, her age lines up with Blink 182 and all of those, uh, Good Charlotte. And I'd be like, when she would refer to it as punk, I was like, this isn't punk.

• 16:44Mae Martin?

  It's not punk. It's pop.

• 16:46Tig Notaro?

  It is so melodic.

• 16:47Mae Martin?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 16:48Tig Notaro?

Punk is not melodic. I mean, even though now the Sex Pistols actually sound melodic.

• 16:54Mae Martin?

Yeah. I think you would love Fontaine's DC, this Irish band that are so amazing now. And they, they're quite hard. Like they have a punk element, but also, but like the lead singer is just a poet. It's, they're amazing. Fontaine's DC I listen to a lot and Young Fathers, the Scottish. Rap group, maybe, should we make each other playlists?

• 17:15Tig Notaro?

Yeah, and it, send me any rap that you think Max and Finn, or especially Finn would like.

• 17:22Mae Martin?

  For sure, yeah.

• 17:23Tig Notaro?

Yeah, and he doesn't like things bleeped out, he likes the original.

• 17:26Mae Martin?

  Yes.

• 17:30Tig Notaro?

And would you agree that Blink 182 and bands like that are punk pop, like they're pop punk or whatever?

• 17:39Mae Martin?

Yeah, like they're not punk for sure, and they're not pop.

• 17:43Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 17:43Mae Martin?

  Yeah, pop punk, yeah.

• 17:44Tig Notaro?

Yeah, okay, because Stephanie's like, no, this is punk, and I'm like.

• 17:48Mae Martin?

No, I, no, come on, no.

• 17:50Tig Notaro?

No, no, no, no. Anyway, so that's what I'm listening to is Eminem and Good Charlotte and Blink 182 and Kendrick Lamar.

• 18:02Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 18:04Tig Notaro?

  All American Rejects.

• 18:05Mae Martin?

But mainly I'm listening to true crime podcasts, let's be honest. I'm trying to wean myself off because I don't want those vibrations in my bod.

• 18:13Tig Notaro?

You don't want those to be in your bod.

• 18:17Mae Martin?

Just like them, I gotta be my own guy.

• 18:24Mae Martin?

Oh, there's one, there's one pop punk song that you gotta play for them, but it's so, it makes me laugh so much because it's so angsty. This guy goes, it goes, "Tell my friends I'm dead, tell my friends that I am dead." It's insane. I'm leaving now, and this time it's for good. Who's it by?

• 18:45Tig Notaro?

I don't know if I need to introduce that vibe to an eight-year-old right now.

• 18:49Mae Martin?

  Yeah, don't, yeah.

• 18:52Mae Martin?

  It's just so emo.

• 18:53Tig Notaro?

And I'm sorry, what is the band?

• 18:55Mae Martin?

Oh, New Found Glory, New Found Glory.

• 18:57Tig Notaro?

  Oh, it's New Found Glory?

• 18:58Mae Martin?

Yeah, Forget My Name it's called, yeah.

• 19:00Tig Notaro?

Yeah, we listen to New Found Glory?

• 19:02Mae Martin?

  You do?

• 19:02Tig Notaro?

  Oh, my gosh, yes.

• 19:03Mae Martin?

It won't be long till you forget my name.

• 19:09Tig Notaro?

That is what our little family vehicle is blaring out of the windows.

• 19:14Mae Martin?

  That's awesome.

• 19:15Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 19:16Mae Martin?

Yeah, let's hear um KJ's answer.

• 19:18Tig Notaro?

  Yes.

• 19:19Speaker 00

For me, right now, it's Maze, it's Doji's Alligator Bites Never Heal, Kendrick Lamar's GNX, and then it'll randomly also be a John Prine album of some kind.

• 19:32Tig Notaro?

  Got to.

• 19:33Speaker 00

  Thanks. Bye.

• 19:34Tig Notaro?

  Nice, KJ.

• 19:36Mae Martin?

I love that. That's an eclectic mix. I love the idea of one of my little mid-tempo songs being followed by Kendrick. Oh, man, that's amazing.

• 19:48Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 19:48Mae Martin?

I hope someone listens to my album on a road trip. That's the dream, like, really getting like cinematic in their minds.

• 19:56Tig Notaro?

  Mm-hmm. I'm sure it's happened many times.

• 19:59Mae Martin?

Should we get one more quick question?

• 20:01Tig Notaro?

  Yes, let's do a quickie.

• 20:03Speaker 04

Hello, handsome pod. My name is Erin and I live in Florida and my question is, how many pillows do you sleep with? And what is the size and firmness of those pillows? I've asked this question to a lot of friends and family and I'm always really surprised by the answer. So I'd love to hear yours.

• 20:23Mae Martin?

I want to predict each other's answer.

• 20:25Tig Notaro?

  Okay.

• 20:26Mae Martin?

I feel like maybe now you have an orthopedic pillow of some kind, but I feel like for a long time, maybe you had like a thin, like as thin as a credit card.

• 20:40Tig Notaro?

You are completely right about the orthopedic pillow.

• 20:42Mae Martin?

  Okay.

• 20:43Tig Notaro?

Yes, for sure. And then, uh, is that the end of your guess?

• 20:48Mae Martin?

We'll see, like a firm, a firm pillow.

• 20:51Tig Notaro?

Not too firm, but like a decent firmness. It's a really nice orthopedic pillow.

• 20:57Mae Martin?

Do you have a body pillow, like a long one?

• 20:59Tig Notaro?

I, I, I do. It's not like, uh, one of those specifically, you know, snoodles or whatever those are called, where it like wraps around your whole body and ends your marriage. But um, I do have a long pillow that I'll, if I turn over on my side, I put between my knees or whatever.

• 21:18Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 21:19Tig Notaro?

Um, but yeah, I have my orthopedic pillow and then just a long pillow. Uh, in case, in case I need to go over on my side.

• 21:29Mae Martin?

And maybe like an extra regular pillow floating around in case.

• 21:33Tig Notaro?

  Those would be Stephanie's.

• 21:35Mae Martin?

  Okay, yeah.

• 21:35Tig Notaro?

Um, but I will say, one of my biggest annoyances in life and that I do not understand at all is people that fill their bed with decorative pillows.

• 21:50Mae Martin?

  I can, I completely agree.

• 21:52Tig Notaro?

What the hell is, what? I don't understand.

• 21:56Mae Martin?

You're gonna throw them off the bed right away, like a.

• 21:59Tig Notaro?

And do they look that good on the bed?

• 22:01Mae Martin?

  No.

• 22:02Tig Notaro?

No, the people that put pillows like beyond even halfway down the bed, like just pillows, pillows, pillows, why?

• 22:10Mae Martin?

I guess if you're hanging out fully clothed on top of your bed, reading a book, maybe, but like.

• 22:16Tig Notaro?

  No.

• 22:16Mae Martin?

  Keep your bed, your bed.

• 22:18Tig Notaro?

  No.

• 22:19Mae Martin?

  Yeah, I agree.

• 22:20Tig Notaro?

It's a whole process of taking all the pillows off. Where do they, where do they go?

• 22:24Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 22:25Tig Notaro?

  Just on the floor? Gross.

• 22:27Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 22:27Tig Notaro?

And then you just put them back up? No.

• 22:29Mae Martin?

What do you think my pillow situation is?

• 22:32Tig Notaro?

I think you have three fluffy pillows.

• 22:36Mae Martin?

  Interesting.

• 22:37Tig Notaro?

  Or no pillow.

• 22:39Mae Martin?

Interesting. I'm not a psychopath. Can you imagine?

• 22:43Tig Notaro?

  Prove it. Prove it.

• 22:45Mae Martin?

Okay, you're not gonna believe this, but my pillow situation is I have an orthopedic pillow for my neck.

• 22:51Tig Notaro?

  Okay.

• 22:52Mae Martin?

And I have a long body pillow that I sometimes hug when I go on my side. Exact same.

• 22:57Tig Notaro?

  So it's really?

• 22:58Mae Martin?

  Literally identical setup.

• 22:59Tig Notaro?

Wow. So this would have been a perfect two against one because we know Fortune has to have some different pillow.

• 23:05Mae Martin?

I bet she's surrounded by fluffy cloud pillows.

• 23:08Tig Notaro?

  Yes, yeah.

• 23:09Mae Martin?

No, I'm, yeah, I love to spoon a body pillow.

• 23:13Tig Notaro?

Do you just have a regular long pillow? You didn't buy a snoodle thing or whatever those are called?

• 23:18Mae Martin?

No, not one of the ones that like wraps around, but it is memory foam. It's not regular, but it's just like a long cylinder.

• 23:24Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 23:24Mae Martin?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 23:25Tig Notaro?

All right, well, let's hear Aaron's answer.

• 23:27Mae Martin?

  Yeah.

• 23:28Speaker 04

My answer is I sleep with four pillows. I have two that are sort of under my head. I prefer my head to actually be on a fairly small, like scrunchy pillow that you can mold into different shapes. And then I have one pillow on the side I'm facing, so I can sort of like cuddle it to support my arm. And then I have one between my legs to support, you know, my knees and hips and everything. But I've talked to so many people who only sleep with one little pillow under their head, and I don't, I don't understand what's happening. What are their arms doing?

• 23:59Mae Martin?

Well, the one under the arm and the one between the legs could be replaced by one long cylinder.

• 24:05Tig Notaro?

  Mm hmm, mm hmm.

• 24:06Mae Martin?

Yeah, you gotta be more economical here.

• 24:10Tig Notaro?

Absolutely. You heard it here first.

• 24:12Mae Martin?

You heard it here first, Aaron.

• 24:13Tig Notaro?

  Yeah.

• 24:14Mae Martin?

  Great question.

• 24:15Tig Notaro?

Yeah, both great questions. These are always so fun. Please send in more questions for us to pick from.

• 24:23Mae Martin?

  Is it speakpipe.com?

• 24:25Tig Notaro?

  It is speakpipe.com/hansampod. That's right.

• 24:29Mae Martin?

  Yes, he is.

• 24:50Mae Martin?

  I love a surprise.

• 24:51Tig Notaro?

Oh, it is quite a surprise.

• 24:54Mae Martin?

Fuck, I gotta get planning. I want to something.

• 24:58Tig Notaro?

Yeah, well, it's not going to top what I have.

• 25:00Mae Martin?

No, I'm so excited to be astounded.

• 25:03Tig Notaro?

And you, you and Fortune, you deserve every bit of what's coming to you.

• 25:09Mae Martin?

  That seems ominous.
