His name is Grant Cardone, and he is an internationally renowned business and sales expert. He is the author of seven sales and business books, including the New York Times bestseller, If You're Not First, You're Last. He's a creator of customized sales training programs for Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, success-minded individuals, and entrepreneurs. He's a dynamic speaker. He's been featured on a lot of major press, and he is one of the most authentically aggressive individuals I've seen online. He's got a massive following of millions of followers on Facebook and YouTube and Instagram and everywhere online.

• 1:19Lewis Howes?

He is a love him or hate him type of guy, and he's a guy that I've really enjoyed to get to know over the years, and someone that I've actually learned a ton from. He is extremely successful at making lots and lots of money. So in this episode, we talk about the real reason why Grant is obsessed with making money, and why you should be as well, why people hate sales, and how to teach kids a better mindset around this principle, how to avoid getting stuck being in the middle class, why you should not save your money, the importance of doing work that you hate, and so much more that we dive into.

• 2:00Lewis Howes?

We talk about his relationship experience with his wife and how he's built in his work and marriage experience together. We cover so many powerful things, guys. This blew me away, and I think it's going to blow you away as well. So make sure you share this episode with your friends, lewishowes.com/497. Now, without further ado, let me introduce you to the one, the only, Grant Cardone.

• 2:30Lewis Howes?

Welcome everyone to the School of Greatness podcast. We've got Grant Cardone in the house, who is one of my favorite people.

• 2:37Grant Cardone?

Come on, man. Come on, man.

• 2:38Lewis Howes?

  Good to see you, man.

• 2:39Grant Cardone?

  You know it's mutual.

• 2:39Lewis Howes?

I'm super grateful you're here. We just did a mastermind weekend where I saw you were in town.

• 2:46Grant Cardone?

  Yep.

• 2:46Lewis Howes?

You landed on your jet and I was like, oh, he's in LA. We gotta get him to come do a Q and A with my group of entrepreneurs. And you just blew the house up. You know, people were so inspired by your story about, and I think the thing that got them...

• 3:00Grant Cardone?

You had a good audience, man. You had a great audience.

• 3:02Lewis Howes?

  Great audience.

• 3:02Grant Cardone?

I told you outside, I said, look, the speaker's only as good as the audience is.

• 3:06Lewis Howes?

  That's true.

• 3:06Grant Cardone?

  I've always believed that.

• 3:07Lewis Howes?

Yeah, they were super engaged and I think the thing I love about you the most is your, what do I call it, like you're unapologetically...

• 3:15Grant Cardone?

  Authentic.

• 3:15Lewis Howes?

  Authentic or aggressively...

• 3:17Grant Cardone?

  Aggressively auth...

• 3:20Lewis Howes?

Authentically aggressive or something like that.

• 3:21Grant Cardone?

It was AA, man. I said, dude, we going to an AA meeting, man. We have 12 steps, man.

• 3:25Lewis Howes?

Authentically aggressive or something like that, yeah. And I think it's just you have, you're so clear on your dream. You're so clear on your vision and nothing is gonna get in the way. It doesn't matter if you're, you know, you hurt people's feelings or if...

• 3:37Grant Cardone?

Well, I'm not trying to. Like, when you say that though, I'm like, man, do people think I'm trying to hurt their feelings?

• 3:41Lewis Howes?

No, I know you're not trying to. You got a good heart and you wanna...

• 3:44Grant Cardone?

Nor am I trying to like, like the whole hustle and the grind thing and the like. I'm not trying to hustle. I'm not trying to grind. I'm not thinking about, oh, I gotta go into freaking beast mode now. Like, you know, this is how I operate. This isn't, for me, this isn't an Instagram post. You know, it's not like, hey, look at, I'm in beast mode or I gotta grind. You know, somebody said yesterday, they said, man, you're the most positive person that I know. And I'm like, dude, really? I'm not really. Let me, I'm not really a very positive person. But, but, you know, I don't think good things just happen. I think, I think for me to ever, you know, have a good outcome, I've just had to work really hard. You know, like, I don't get on the front of a magazine easily.

• 4:25Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 4:26Grant Cardone?

I'm gonna have to work at that, man.

• 4:27Lewis Howes?

Hey, I work at it too.

• 4:28Grant Cardone?

I know, I know you do. I know you do. I know you. But it's kinda like Elena, right? Elena's got this magic, you know, my wife, she's got this, things go, they just go differently for her. Me, I go to like, you know, I have to push.

• 4:42Lewis Howes?

Have you ever thought about like just taking a step back and letting things come to you?

• 4:45Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, I have.

• 4:46Lewis Howes?

What happens when you try to just like...

• 4:47Grant Cardone?

I try, try for about 28 minutes.

• 4:50Lewis Howes?

  And what happens?

• 4:50Grant Cardone?

And then I get terrified, man.

• 4:52Lewis Howes?

  Really?

• 4:52Grant Cardone?

I'm like, dude, you gotta get, you gotta get back in the game. You know, it's like LeBron. Why, why does this guy wait? Until he's down.

• 5:00Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 5:01Grant Cardone?

  You know.

• 5:01Lewis Howes?

  Let's get ahead.

• 5:02Grant Cardone?

Right. And so my life has kind of felt like all it's always been hard, man. Everything's been hard.

• 5:08Lewis Howes?

  Really?

• 5:08Grant Cardone?

Baseball player as a kid, sales guy, hated sales. Um, deals, deals are hard. I have to push them through.

• 5:17Lewis Howes?

  Really?

• 5:18Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 5:18Lewis Howes?

What do you think would make them easy for you? What would you need to do to change it up?

• 5:23Grant Cardone?

You know, I don't know. I don't, I don't know that I'm, I'm, I don't even know if I'm willing to let that, let the concept in because you know, I got this thing kind of working now.

• 5:30Lewis Howes?

Do you, do you feel like you enjoy that it's hard then? Like it's, if it's not hard, then you're not actually doing something meaningful to you?

• 5:37Grant Cardone?

Maybe, maybe, I don't know. Uh, maybe, but, but, uh, you know, I, I'm just really hard on myself. Like, like, you know, somebody said, man, you're hard on people. I said, dude, I'm hard, I'm hard on me.

• 5:49Lewis Howes?

Why are you so hard on yourself? You're so successful and you've achieved so much.

• 5:52Grant Cardone?

Because, because I know, I know, I think, I believe in my potential, you know, I, I, I just in a positive attitude thing. I believe in my potential. I, I'm, I'm a really like, I'm probably one of the most honest people I know.

• 6:05Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, that's for sure.

• 6:06Grant Cardone?

And, and, and I just can't, I can't fake it. Like I, they say fake it till you make it. I've never been able to do that. Like, that's not even like, dude, why fake it till you make it? Why don't you just make it? You know, why, why take the extra step of faking it? Like be, become somebody, you know, learn a skill. And so, um, I just can't, when I'm around somebody who's ripping people off, you know, which is a tremendous amount of that, like a lot of copying. Uh, you know, somebody said it, copying is the, the highest form of flattery. I'm like, no, dude, it's thievery. It's stealing. That's what it is, you know? So, um, I just believe in my potential and, and I don't know whether it was because I'm a twin, identical twin and I, you know, I could see his potential. I mean, imagine

• 6:51Grant Cardone?

my whole life, ever since I've been however small, right? Just a micro, like a little tiny cell. I have been reflecting off of another cell. And maybe, maybe I could, because I could always see my identical twins, my brother Gary's, I could always see his potential. I'm like, my God, dude, the power this dude's got is amazing.

• 7:09Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 7:10Grant Cardone?

And I remember being like four or five years old, maybe, maybe three, maybe it was like baby young, right? And, uh, three or four years old and I had the power for like three years and then, then he got it. And I realized that I didn't have it anymore. I'm like, damn, he just got this thing, whatever that thing is, right? And, and I, so I referred to it as potential. What is my potential? It's always intrigued me.

• 7:36Lewis Howes?

  What is your potential?

• 7:38Grant Cardone?

I don't know, man, but it's more than I'm doing. So that's why I'm hard on myself because I'm honest about my potential. I know I can do more.

• 7:45Lewis Howes?

What if you reach your potential? Would you say, well, I know I could do more?

• 7:50Grant Cardone?

Probably, probably. I think that's the spiritual genius of whatever this, you know, this, you know, unspenotes, you know, unidentifiable power in this universe is, is that like, like, and I'm a very spiritual person, actually. Most people don't see that in me because they see all this, you know, this thing that I put on and, uh, but, but maybe that's what's really intrigued me, you know? It's not money. It's not, oh, how can I get a bigger jet? I mean, I like all that stuff, but it's, it's never been, oh, I'm going to write a book and it's going to be a bestseller. It's been about this, this unidentifiable potential that drives me, this interest in how much could I do? You know? And then I see guys like Elon Musk saying, hey, let's go to Mars,

• 8:32Grant Cardone?

man, you know, or, or Henry Ford saying, let's make cars when everybody was satisfied with horses. You know, I see the stuff you do, man. I get inspired. You're on the front cover of a magazine, bro. I'm like, damn, why am I not on the front cover? And it's not a competitive thing with me, right? It's you, you, you inspire my potential, right?

• 8:50Lewis Howes?

Well, yeah, when I think of Elon Musk, I feel like I'm doing nothing.

• 8:53Grant Cardone?

Well, dude, I mean, let's be honest.

• 8:55Lewis Howes?

What am I doing? This guy's creating like jets.

• 8:57Grant Cardone?

  The, the, we're ants.

• 8:59Lewis Howes?

Hyperloops or whatever he's doing, like all this other stuff. It's crazy.

• 9:02Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 9:03Lewis Howes?

Wow. Um, I just think the more I get to hang out with you, I really appreciate you. And I'm not trying to like create a love fest here.

• 9:11Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 9:12Lewis Howes?

But I think there's so many people don't understand you.

• 9:14Grant Cardone?

Yeah. And I, I've done a bad, terrible job, dude. I've done a terrible job.

• 9:19Lewis Howes?

Cause you're, you're one way online, essentially, you know, you kind of put out this persona that's very aggressive, I would say.

• 9:25Grant Cardone?

Well, look, when I start riffing into a piece of data, right? So, so, uh, when I start saying the middle, the middle class, for instance, the middle class is doomed and that it, that there is none and that it's a lie. My position is so strong. That because because I it's not like I'm trying to shove anything down anybody's throat. I just know this is true, man. I'm trying to convince people and I do it terribly. Right? So I I when when I started my my first uh my first career with sales. So I like I was. Selling cars originally? I was selling cars. I well, I sold furniture. I was twenty. I was seventeen years old when I sold clothes and furniture and.

• 10:04Grant Cardone?

Fucking hated it, dude. Like, there's nothing about sale sales that I liked. Okay, I didn't like talking to people, didn't like meeting people, didn't like uh get on common ground. And I'm sitting there thinking all the time, well, and because they teach you all this stuff in sales like like. Your first impression is the most important. I'm like, well, then I'm fucked because I make a bad first impression almost every time. Yeah. So I didn't believe that. I said, that can't be true because I was still selling some of these people. My wife, she wouldn't go out with me for thirteen months. So so I I observe things that I don't think are true. Right? I have this ability to observe things that just aren't true, like like uh people buy from people they like. I'm like, do people buy from me? I I was I bought stuff from people I don't like. Why did you buy from them? Just to get it done. Yeah.

• 10:50Grant Cardone?

People buy from people they like. Uh the longer you spend with somebody, the better off they are. I'm like, I'm not. The longer you spend with me, the less the the it's gonna get worse. You want to sell them now? Well, no, I'm just saying I don't want to take five hours getting there. When I go to buy something, I want to buy it. I do not want to have. I don't want to meet you. That's not my deal. But this was what what was in all these books, right? And I was like, this can't be true. You know, that this is not. It wasn't true to me, right? So anyway, I got great at sales my way. And then I went out to tell car dealers they were doing it wrong. And that's what I did wrong. I said, you guys are doing it wrong. And they're like, dude, we make billions of dollars. Right. Uh we're not gonna change this. And I kept telling them, you're wrong. You're wrong. Well, I was early on the cycle.

• 11:33Grant Cardone?

And I was this was before Lexus and before the internet and before data and before TrueCar. And I I was going around the country telling car dealers, very, very difficult audience to call them. Okay, not like your group the other night. Right. These are highly egotistical, A-type personalities, rich on top of all that. And I'm like, you guys are doing it wrong, man. And, and, and they wouldn't listen to me, right? So the point of that is that I have, I, I, I tend to say it wrong. I don't, I don't say things like you're very easy to listen to, you know? Like when I'm around you, I'm like, dude, I need to be more like Lewis Howes. You know, I've told Elaine that three or four times. I'm like, I need to learn from Lewis.

• 12:14Grant Cardone?

I, I gotta figure out how to like gently come in rather than just crashing down the door. The door, the door was open. And I still go blowing it like, like glocken, let's go, you know?

• 12:27Lewis Howes?

But you're getting results and it's been effective with your approach. So I think, yeah, I mean, I think I can learn from you on certain approaches. You can learn from whoever and I'll learn from different people. But what you're doing has worked for you to get specific results. Results don't lie. You've been effective at getting results.

• 12:42Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 12:43Lewis Howes?

Now, I think, um, there's always something we can learn though.

• 12:47Grant Cardone?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, but, but, but going, if I went back, right? I'm like, dude, there were so many mistakes I made, you know?

• 12:54Lewis Howes?

  What were the biggest?

• 12:56Grant Cardone?

Well, well, that, well, that was one, just presenting it wrong, you know? I was presenting, I was presenting what? What? Oh, no doubt about it. Not going big enough was definitely.

• 13:08Lewis Howes?

  Early on, you mean?

• 13:09Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 13:09Lewis Howes?

In terms of what not going big enough where?

• 13:11Grant Cardone?

Well, I shouldn't, I, I picked the wrong career to start with.

• 13:13Lewis Howes?

  Oh, with cars?

• 13:15Grant Cardone?

Definitely. You know, it, it, the pool wasn't big enough, you know? And it was way, way, way beyond. When, you know, when I have customers telling me, dude, what are you doing this for? You know, but I was good at it. Okay. I mean, I got great at it, even though I hated it.

• 13:28Lewis Howes?

But I think also you have to become like great at one specific niche and master that thing. And that was just the vehicle. I guess no pun intended to get to where you're at.

• 13:37Grant Cardone?

Yeah. Uh, yeah, but, but look, look, I mean, you, you know, people should pick the right vehicle. You want to pick something, looking back, I want to pick something that's got a lot of scale to it.

• 13:47Lewis Howes?

What could it have been? Real estate early on or?

• 13:49Grant Cardone?

Could have been real estate, could have been Wall Street, could have been, could have been, uh, could have been, uh, recruiting people. Like if I was looking for a job today, I'd go into recruiting. Okay, that's a big, huge problem.

• 13:59Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 13:59Grant Cardone?

Uh, I'd look at recruiting, I'd look at, uh, I'd probably, if I was coming, like, if I died today and could reincarnate tomorrow, I'd come back as a hedge fund guy. Cause I do wanna make a lot of money. Like, and that's one thing that I've done, I've been, done a decent job of making clear.

• 14:13Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 14:13Grant Cardone?

Every time I talk to you, how can we make some money, man? Come on, let's make some money, you know? And the reason why I like the money thing is because, and the more I do it, the more I realize, dude, this bugs people bad.

• 14:23Lewis Howes?

  It does.

• 14:24Grant Cardone?

  It bugs people.

• 14:25Lewis Howes?

Growing up, I thought you were the same way. No one liked to talk about it.

• 14:27Grant Cardone?

  Dude, don't talk about it.

• 14:28Lewis Howes?

We didn't have a lot of money and it was always like, it was this taboo thing. And, and. About how much, who would talk about how much they make, like?

• 14:34Grant Cardone?

  Dude, taboo.

• 14:35Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, you couldn't do that.

• 14:36Grant Cardone?

And, and the people that wouldn't talk about it were the people that, don't tell anybody what you make. Don't tell anybody, you know, what you, what you paid for the house. Don't tell anybody anything. I'm like, dude, look, look around, man. You guys got money problems. All these people giving this advice don't have any money. Don't talk about God, don't talk about money, don't talk about politics. Don't sell your friends, don't talk to strangers. And I'm like, shit, I can't talk about anything to anyone. Right? And then you wonder why people can't talk to anybody and why they hate sales. They hate sales because you were told as a kid not to communicate to anyone. About anything. So, so, uh.

• 15:14Lewis Howes?

I love this, what you said at the dinner, you'd said, you teach your kids to talk to strangers.

• 15:18Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 15:19Lewis Howes?

  Because they've got your money.

• 15:20Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, exactly.

• 15:21Lewis Howes?

Right? They've got something you're gonna want.

• 15:22Grant Cardone?

They have opportunity, they have open, they have doors, uh, you know, it's, you know, there's so much conflicting data, right? Like, don't talk to strangers, but it, it, it's not what you know, it's who you know. I'm like, how am I gonna meet these people if I don't talk to them?

• 15:36Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 15:37Grant Cardone?

So, you know, look, my, a lot, a lot of this, and this goes back to this middle class concept, it's just the middle classes. Because the data's wrong. Okay? The data, the, the information is so wrong.

• 15:50Grant Cardone?

For today, for where we're at in the 21st century in the year 2017, the data, save your money. Completely outdated concept, you know?

• 16:00Lewis Howes?

What should people be doing with their money?

• 16:01Grant Cardone?

They shouldn't be saving it. They should be using it. Money is to be used, you know? The saving thing, the middle class is basically built hundreds of millions of people in America that are either worried about money or a miser. They're constantly worried, fearful of it. They get a little bit, they're worried about it. And then, I mean, how many people do you know that turned into misers? The rich uncle that died with a couple million dollars and nobody knew it because he would never go to Starbucks.

• 16:24Lewis Howes?

  Right, right.

• 16:26Grant Cardone?

Look at how, look at how successful the millionaire next door book was. Because it basically said, look, the millionaires are the people that don't spend any money. They buy the used truck that they didn't want.

• 16:37Lewis Howes?

  Car is 20 years old.

• 16:38Grant Cardone?

Yeah, exactly. And, and, and, and they don't go to Starbucks because that's four bucks. And if you don't go to Starbucks, you know, for the next 30 years, $4 a day for 30 years, 80 grand.

• 16:48Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 16:49Grant Cardone?

You live in Los Angeles, man, 80 grand, you're still broke. So, so, you know, the data, the information today needs to be, you know, the thing about knowledge is power. And that's why I loved your audience the other night so much because, you know, they want the right knowledge, not any knowledge. A lot of people listening online, you, you, you'll go for any knowledge. All knowledge is not created equal. Some of it's garbage, okay? And that garbage can hold you down. And, and so you, I think your question was, what would I do if I came back? Man, I want to come back with the right data, number one. I want to come back with the right information that says, bro, go get rich. Like, what, what if that was the battle cry from the beginning? Go find a vehicle that will make you super rich. So you could actually make a super difference.

• 17:34Grant Cardone?

Because you're not doing it without, without money. Elon Musk, he's, he's got that option. He's got influence and he's got money.

• 17:41Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 17:41Grant Cardone?

And he's got courage. Like, that's a triple threat right there, you know?

• 17:45Lewis Howes?

Yeah. What would you say to the people that, that, you know, they don't want to get as rich? They don't want to work as hard, they're...

• 17:50Grant Cardone?

You, you have the wrong data. You're under the spell. You, you're, you're in a long-term meditation that somebody put on you. You're, you're under a spell of money won't make you happy. Dude, you're, you're not happy now. Money buys groceries, okay? Money takes care of medical bills. I mean, this, this idea, this is the number one thing I hear from people. Well, I don't need to be rich. Dude, you don't even know what you're talking about. You do need to be rich. Poor people are selfish. People that just get by are selfish. You're selfish because you're always talking about yourself. Listen to what the guy says. I said, man, you, you need to get rich, man. No, I, I, I don't need to get rich. That dude, you're talking you, but what about your church? What about the community? Okay. What about all the little kids you could help, dude? Family.

• 18:34Grant Cardone?

What about people in Africa? What about all the water problems you talk about? Okay. So, rich people can literally change the world. Poor people cannot do that. Okay. Because they're too consumed with their own, their own 24 inches around them. Their own world. I need to eat, dude. I need to eat. Now, I learned this when I was in unemployment line when I was 20, 20, uh, 23 years old. I was in the unemployment line. My uncle says, Sam, what are you doing? I said, oh, man, I was so ashamed. I was like six back from the counter, getting ready to get my first check. And he, he drove up. He's like, what are you doing here? My uncle Vincent, my good uncle.

• 19:11Grant Cardone?

And, uh, I said, well, man, I'm getting a check, man. I'm getting a check. He's like, dude, you didn't go to college to be in an unemployment line. Let's go sell some cars. I'm gonna get you a job selling cars. I said, dude, I didn't go to college to sell cars. He says, you didn't go to college to be in this line either. He got me out of that line. You didn't get the check? I didn't, never got that check. Wow. And I'm so glad I didn't get it. And then I went and took a job that I hated. And hated it, dude. I hated it for two years until I quit fighting it. And I said, I'm, I'm gonna get good at this job and then I'm gonna leave it. I'm gonna leave a job I hate. One of the best things I've ever done in my whole life was learn to get great at something you hate. Why? Because if you can't do the things you hate, dude,

• 19:55Grant Cardone?

every day you and I are required to do something we hate. That, that, that wall right there, the school of greatness wall, that, that wall is full of people that did, that's when I see them, I'm like, I wonder how many things they did, they didn't want to do. To get them where they're at, though. Exactly. I do things every single day I don't want to do. What are the main things? Sometimes it's waking up.

• 20:14Lewis Howes?

  You love sleep.

• 20:15Grant Cardone?

I just wanna sleep, man. I'd like to sleep in for another hour today.

• 20:19Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, I hear you.

• 20:20Grant Cardone?

Sometimes, you know, I mean, different things, you know, I don't, I don't like traveling across the country to go speak. You know? I'd much rather be like, you know, whatever that, what is it they do on?

• 20:32Lewis Howes?

  Transported?

• 20:32Grant Cardone?

Transported, yeah, I wanna be just like instantly transported, you know? There's a lot of things that I, I don't like making sales calls. I don't, I don't like calling, I'm pitching CNBC on this thing right now, I don't like pitching people, you know? You know, I, I don't like the audition process.

• 20:46Lewis Howes?

But you gotta do certain things you don't like to get to where you wanna be.

• 20:49Grant Cardone?

Totally, and you need to get great at the stuff you don't like, cause if you can get great at that stuff, you know? You're gonna be, you're gonna be a threat. LeBron doesn't wanna go play the fourth, fifth game tonight.

• 21:00Lewis Howes?

He doesn't wanna go back to Golden State to do it either.

• 21:02Grant Cardone?

  But he's willing to.

• 21:03Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 21:03Grant Cardone?

  You know?

• 21:04Lewis Howes?

I hope he wins. I hope he wins.

• 21:07Grant Cardone?

Yeah, well, this'll be, that'll be history by the time, by the time somebody listens to this.

• 21:12Lewis Howes?

  I know.

• 21:12Grant Cardone?

Whoever's listening will already know, dude, what's wrong with Louis?

• 21:16Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 21:16Grant Cardone?

What's wrong with Louis, man? He doesn't know what happened?

• 21:19Lewis Howes?

Exactly. Um, so, we talked about why people should get rich. What's the best way people can get rich? And what does rich mean? How much is rich?

• 21:28Grant Cardone?

I'm talking about money now, I'm just talking about money, we're not talking about spiritual freedom.

• 21:31Lewis Howes?

  Just financially.

• 21:32Grant Cardone?

Because, look, if you get a bunch of money and you're still, like, you still don't know.

• 21:35Lewis Howes?

Miserable inside, then it doesn't matter as much.

• 21:37Grant Cardone?

But I'd still rather be rich, by the way, let me just say this, okay? Let's make it clear.

• 21:41Lewis Howes?

  No.

• 21:41Grant Cardone?

If I'm gonna be miserable, I want some money to go with it.

• 21:43Lewis Howes?

  Exactly.

• 21:44Grant Cardone?

  You know?

• 21:44Lewis Howes?

To at least get rid of some problems.

• 21:46Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 21:46Lewis Howes?

You're not gonna get rid of the inner problem.

• 21:48Grant Cardone?

No, and it's gonna probably be worse, it's probably gonna be magnified, like, if you're on a Global 6000 and, and you gotta fly 15 hours and you freaking hate yourself, I mean, it's gonna be freaking, it's gonna be real bad. But dude, that's better than being in a middle seat on aisle 37.

• 22:04Lewis Howes?

  That's true, that's true.

• 22:05Grant Cardone?

So, at least give yourself the choice, right?

• 22:08Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 22:09Grant Cardone?

  So, um...

• 22:10Lewis Howes?

So what is, what does it mean to be rich? How much are we talking about, because?

• 22:13Grant Cardone?

Just money, if we're talking about money.

• 22:14Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 22:14Grant Cardone?

You know, I, I think you probably need 20.

• 22:16Lewis Howes?

  20 million, then you're rich.

• 22:18Grant Cardone?

You need 20 million. You probably need 20. Now, now, the problem with this, okay? This is where everybody hates the podcast now. See, see, the problem is, nobody wants to, like, confront the real magnitude of, of the mathematics. And that's why people are like, that's ridiculous, shit. No, what you're saying is, you can't imagine how to get to 20 million. See, I wish somebody had told me this in accounting. I went to accounting for, I spent five years getting an accounting degree. I only went there for one reason. I thought they were gonna teach me how to account.

• 22:48Grant Cardone?

I thought, I thought it was a freaking money course. No. I'm thinking, in the fifth year, dude, it took me five years to get out of this course. I'm thinking, this year, they're gonna teach me about the money. There's nothing about money. And the only reason I went to that course was figure out, dude, how do you, how do you make money? How do you keep money? How do you multiply money? The basic money class. So, like, if you just do the math, a guy's like, oh, man, eighty grand, I'm good. Eighty grand. Another guy's like, a hundred grand, and I'm good. They, they haven't done the math. Another person says, if I just make, if I just have a million dollars, I'm good. But you haven't done the math, the, the actual math, you know? Like, how much money is that really? You know? A hundred grand in Los Angeles. Thirteen thousand goes to the state,

• 23:31Grant Cardone?

you have eighty-seven thousand dollars. Okay? Half that goes to the federal government, you're at forty-two thousand five hundred dollars. I've done the math. Yeah. Okay, you're at forty-two five. You go to Whole Foods once a week, just to take care of your little baby girl and your wife? You're broke. Okay? So, you're broke. You're broke. Okay? And we hadn't, we hadn't handled the healthcare issue. Right. Trump Care, Obamacare, you don't care if you don't get your money right. I mean, that's the facts. Yeah.

• 23:56Grant Cardone?

So, most people have never done the math. There is no school on it. There's no class on it. Why not? Why is that? Why, man? So frustrating. But you, do you know how many people the middle class support? How many bad, awful groups? No. You know? I mean, just think about it, man. Like, if the middle class, if two-hundred-and-fifteen million people in America knew the truth, and they weren't sitting there saying, but look at my two cars. Look at my two little girls, and I got dresses for them. And look, look at people in Ethiopia, they're starving. You went, you went over to Africa, you know? Compared their situation to our middle class. Everybody here's rich, including the guy on the, on the street corner that's a panhandler. Absolutely. Right? So, why is the, is the freaking killer question?

• 24:38Grant Cardone?

Why have so many people been put under the spell of the middle class? That that is who determines who's the president of a country.

• 24:46Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 24:47Grant Cardone?

Look what happened in this last election. Okay, that middle class is starting to get a little edgy right now. They're starting to be like, dude, I hadn't had a good job. I hadn't had a freaking pay raise. You keep talking about unemployment going down. Where's my money? Okay, I don't get anything at the bank. I earn a half a percent at the bank. So your mom, my mom, my mom, I watched my mom earn 12% at the bank. She earned 1% a month on her money. So the battle cry back then was save your money. Cause you could earn something.

• 25:13Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 25:13Grant Cardone?

Save your money today. What do you get?

• 25:15Lewis Howes?

  Nothing.

• 25:15Grant Cardone?

  Nothing.

• 25:16Lewis Howes?

  You lose money.

• 25:16Grant Cardone?

  You lose money. Okay.

• 25:17Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 25:18Grant Cardone?

  So.

• 25:18Lewis Howes?

  Inflation is, yeah.

• 25:20Grant Cardone?

Don't take a risk. Don't take a chance. Diversify. Why, why would I diversify? Why, rich people do not diversify. Okay, they got the, the wealthiest people on this planet, when they went into trains, they went all in on their trains. When Henry Ford went into cars, he didn't diversify. He went all in on cars. Elon Musk, he's going all in on solar. Right? That's how you make hits. But the middle class is taught what? Put a little here, put a little here, put a little here, put a little here. Put 27 different things out there. Why? Who benefits from 27 investments?

• 25:51Lewis Howes?

  Those people.

• 25:52Grant Cardone?

  Wall Street.

• 25:53Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 25:53Grant Cardone?

Okay, start early. Start early. Start early. Okay? Get a KEO account. Get an IRA. Who benefits? Freaking Wall Street, dude. All that money gets pushed over there for 30 years. So.

• 26:06Lewis Howes?

So where do you put your main, your, your money then?

• 26:08Grant Cardone?

Well, let me just say this.

• 26:09Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 26:09Grant Cardone?

If they offer it to you. Okay, it's like, it's like, it's like insurance in Vegas at a blackjack table. You know, when you got, you, they, they got, they got an ace up and they're like, you want insurance? Dude, if they offer it to you in Vegas, this is my mom that taught me. She's like, if they offer it to you, don't take it. So, so if Wall Street offers something to you, it's probably not good for you. So where do I put my money? I put my money, number one, where I have total control.

• 26:33Grant Cardone?

Number two, where it is indestructible. Like the investment has to be indestructible. So I'm, I'm indestructible. Right? I can invest to me. And I'm in control of that investment. That's the first that I would tell everybody like, don't even invest, don't even think about a financial investment until you have a hundred grand set aside. And until then, you got five, you got 10, you got 22, you got 50, just keep reinvesting that money in yourself, courses, classes, whatever. And until, until you're taking the action necessary, the money will show up at the bank. If you keep investing in you, the vehicle. And then the second thing is where the money goes, okay, the money's got to go into something indestructible.

• 27:17Grant Cardone?

No technology can wipe it out. And it needs to be very simple for me. Like so simple that I can explain in one sentence.

• 27:26Lewis Howes?

  So what's that?

• 27:27Grant Cardone?

Well, it's not Bitcoin. Cause I can't get my head wrapped around the cryptocurrency and most people can't explain it to me.

• 27:34Lewis Howes?

But you're receiving payments from Bitcoin.

• 27:36Grant Cardone?

I will take, I will take your crypto.

• 27:38Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 27:38Grant Cardone?

I'll take it, but I'm not going to invest in it.

• 27:40Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 27:40Grant Cardone?

I'll take anything dude, I'll take your donkey.

• 27:44Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, sure.

• 27:45Grant Cardone?

So, uh, my office feels differently about that, but, cause we got, we had this phone call like, hey, will you take 50,000 in Bitcoin? And Sherry was like, no, Jared's like, no. I'm like, hey dude, take that money, son. Okay, take that freaking exchange.

• 27:59Lewis Howes?

  If it's that or nothing.

• 28:01Grant Cardone?

Dude, dude, take, take it, man. Don't tell people no. Figure out how to make it all right to say yes to it. So, um, what was your question? You, you said, what's so?

• 28:11Lewis Howes?

So what are you putting it in then?

• 28:12Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I mean, I, I load up, everybody knows I'm loading, loading up in real estate, you know? I buy apartment buildings. And so the simple thing is I buy a place where somebody has to live. They rent it from me and they're going to rent it from me for years. And that's going to pay down the debt on that place. I don't own homes. I don't, I don't buy houses. I buy rental property that people have to live in, that want, they want to live in because they're great properties, they're really nice properties. And it's affordable living. It's not, it's not this $5,000 a month, you know, stuff that you live in.

• 28:44Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 28:44Grant Cardone?

It's affordable, $1,100 a month, great neighborhoods, great properties, safe environments. We go in and improve them, fix them up, happy living, take care of people. We don't abuse anybody. I don't do any government programs.

• 28:58Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 28:59Grant Cardone?

Even though there's a lot of money in them.

• 29:02Grant Cardone?

And then, and I know that money will be there for my kids 30 years from now. I mean, that money will be there a hundred years from now.

• 29:07Lewis Howes?

So you put a hundred percent of your investments in that or either in yourself, your team?

• 29:11Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 29:12Lewis Howes?

  Or real estate?

• 29:12Grant Cardone?

In my business, in myself, my business. Every surplus penny, twice a year I go broke. Twice a year, I'm like, put it all in.

• 29:21Lewis Howes?

  And real estate?

• 29:22Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 29:23Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 29:23Grant Cardone?

  And then it's gone.

• 29:24Lewis Howes?

And then you have to regenerate.

• 29:26Grant Cardone?

I gotta go back and, I gotta go, but literally, I'm like, like, real estate guys, there's a saying with real estate guys, don't ever go to dinner with them? Cause they never have any cash on them. I'm broke right now.

• 29:35Lewis Howes?

  Really?

• 29:36Grant Cardone?

Like, yeah, we're going all in right now, so I go to.

• 29:38Lewis Howes?

They're buying a big unit, or big units, right?

• 29:40Grant Cardone?

I exhaust my reserves and, and then we gotta go back out and say, okay, let's go again.

• 29:45Lewis Howes?

  Really?

• 29:45Grant Cardone?

Let's go, let's go sell a book, let's go sell a, uh, let's go get a millionaire booklet out there in the marketplace. Cause there's nobody, there's nobody that I know in our space that, that will push as hard for a nine dollar product as I will.

• 30:01Lewis Howes?

  I don't know anyone.

• 30:02Grant Cardone?

  Right?

• 30:02Lewis Howes?

  I don't know anyone.

• 30:03Grant Cardone?

  Nobody. I'll go from one, I'll, I'll.

• 30:06Lewis Howes?

  Maybe, you know, Tim Sykes?

• 30:08Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 30:09Lewis Howes?

  He pushes pretty hard.

• 30:10Grant Cardone?

Yeah, but he won't, he won't drop down to like a, a, a three dollar product, dude.

• 30:15Lewis Howes?

I don't know, yeah, maybe not, but.

• 30:16Grant Cardone?

I mean, you can come to one of my seminars, you'll see me at the back table freaking selling two dollar slippers.

• 30:21Lewis Howes?

  So why is that?

• 30:22Grant Cardone?

Because it's a flow, dude, it keeps the flow going, okay? It's about, uh, money's about, it's about, it's about a, what is this, uh, it's a cycle? Circulation, circulation, it's, it's, it's, this is, has to happen for you to have money. And, and the bigger the circulation, you know? I was in Australia, I was on this dive, it was a nine day dive, live aboard, we didn't see land for eight days.

• 30:44Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 30:44Grant Cardone?

Dude, I saw so much activity i- i- i- underneath, right, at 80 feet and 100 feet, like, there was economies without any money. Tremendous economies where they're trading food, right? I mean, there's all this activity, giant tunas, I mean, a, a group are bigger than this wall right here. Where there's this big, this food, right? There's this, just this cycle of food and ecosystem. And, and that's what the economy is, the economy is basically an ecosystem of people that, that either have confidence or don't have confidence. You know, screaming and yelling. That's why I like New York. I love New York because you could feel that, that energy. I like a circus because you know, you got the guy hawking. You know Ed McMahon? You remember Ed McMahon?

• 31:27Grant Cardone?

Okay, Johnny Carson? He was, he was the opener for Johnny Carson. A lot of your, you, you, you might, how old are you?

• 31:33Lewis Howes?

  Thirty-four.

• 31:33Grant Cardone?

Yeah, so you, you probably don't even know who Ed McMahon was. Ed McMahon, freaking, he was the opener for Johnny Carson. Johnny Carson preceded, uh, Jay Leno.

• 31:45Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 31:45Grant Cardone?

  And the other dude.

• 31:46Lewis Howes?

  Late Show or whatever, right?

• 31:47Grant Cardone?

Yeah, exactly. He was the ultimate, yeah, yeah. Well, Ed McMahon was his opener.

• 31:52Lewis Howes?

The guy who hyped him up.

• 31:53Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 31:53Lewis Howes?

  To the crowd.

• 31:54Grant Cardone?

  Here's Johnny.

• 31:56Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 31:56Grant Cardone?

Right? And that went on for thirty years, dude. I grew up with that in my household, right? So, black and white. And, and Ed McMahon, his first, his first job was a barker in a circus. Where he'd like, be like, right over here. You see him at the Home Depots, right? To the Vitamix machine. Ladies and gentlemen, come on over, come on over, okay? Have something, right? They're pitchmen, they're, they're dragging audiences, which is such a powerful thing. And so many people today are unwilling to do that. Like, no, no, I'm not gonna do that. You know? Look at the actors and actresses in this town that wait for the audition. Wait for the phone to ring rather than show up cold to an audition and say, I know, I'm not on the list. They have to see me.

• 32:41Grant Cardone?

  Dude, that takes balls.

• 32:42Lewis Howes?

  Balls.

• 32:43Grant Cardone?

  Big time, okay?

• 32:45Lewis Howes?

Wow. So you're selling two dollar stickers and two hundred thousand dollar programs, anything in between, it doesn't matter to you?

• 32:51Grant Cardone?

And, and in November, we raised fifteen million dollars for the real estate, so.

• 32:55Lewis Howes?

For a fund you're doing, right?

• 32:56Grant Cardone?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, um, you know, who, who do you know that can go from one dollar to fifteen million bucks in a freaking, in, in, in literally like just that fast?

• 33:06Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 33:07Grant Cardone?

But, one thing is because I, I, I'm an ethical person. Like, like, I think people need that sticker. I think people need that book. I think people need to invest with me because I'm not gonna rip them off. I'm not, I am in control of that property. Somebody has to be in control. So, to the degree that you are a person, I believe, is ethically.

• 33:28Grant Cardone?

Like clean hands is to the degree that they can pitch full on hardcore.

• 33:33Lewis Howes?

As you want, as much as you want.

• 33:34Grant Cardone?

And if you can't, if you can't, there's something either in your present or in your past that you're still uncomfortable with. Something.

• 33:42Lewis Howes?

Yeah. Do you feel like you're too pitchy ever? Do you feel like, ah, maybe I was too aggressive or?

• 33:47Grant Cardone?

Yeah, yeah, I've heard, I've heard that before.

• 33:48Lewis Howes?

  Maybe I've been.

• 33:49Grant Cardone?

I've heard that before from people that didn't buy from me. Only from people that didn't buy from me. People that buy from me are never complaining about me being too pushy.

• 33:58Lewis Howes?

What do you think about the people that never buy from you, but are following you and commenting and?

• 34:02Grant Cardone?

I just either hadn't pitched it right, hadn't found the right time to pitch them or, or, you know,

• 34:10Grant Cardone?

or I haven't, they haven't seen the right product yet, you know?

• 34:12Lewis Howes?

  Right. The biggest, the biggest.

• 34:13Grant Cardone?

Or maybe they're never gonna buy from me. I mean, you know, it's all good.

• 34:16Lewis Howes?

  Yeah. Well.

• 34:19Grant Cardone?

  You know?

• 34:20Lewis Howes?

And how did you sell your wife?

• 34:23Grant Cardone?

  Well.

• 34:23Lewis Howes?

Share that story because it was really powerful for people at the dinner.

• 34:26Grant Cardone?

You know, I took 13 months. I had to pitch her for 13 months. You know, I'll tell you how I sold her. I sold her the way I get everything done. I just commit first. I commit. I go all in, dude. I, you know, what's that place we're working out? What's the name of it? Equinox. You know, they have commit to something. That's their saying. Their motto is commit to something. Like dude, that's a bad idea.

• 34:48Grant Cardone?

Okay. Commit to the right things.

• 34:52Grant Cardone?

Like, don't just commit to something. I was committed to drugs for nine years of my life. Like to, to, to, at one point I, it had me. I didn't have it anymore. I couldn't even make the commitment. I didn't have a choice. So, Elena, I was in San Diego, California. I lived in La Jolla. Nobody leaves La Jolla to come to LA. Nobody goes north like that. Okay. So I'm living in La Jolla. I'm in a, I'm in a oceanfront house. That, I mean, it was a dream house.

• 35:17Lewis Howes?

  Beautiful.

• 35:18Grant Cardone?

It was a Playboy's mansion. Like no, no woman ever walked into this house and escaped with her virginity or her sexuality or anything. Okay. They all left feeling good about themselves, but, but you could come with as much resistance as you wanted in this house. This house had a magical spell on all of them. Okay. And so. One day I just got, I said, now I need to leave San Diego. I wanted to get married. I was thirty five years old and I desperately wanted to get married. And I had met enough women in San Diego to know that she wasn't there. Okay, and so I'm like, I'm gonna sell the house. That's how I do things. Called the realtor up, said, let's sell the house. Okay, she's like, well, how much you want for it? I said, well, I want all I can get for it. But I want to sell it immediately.

• 36:02Grant Cardone?

Where are you going? I said, I'm going to Los Angeles. I had this idea that my wife was in Los Angeles. I knew she wasn't there. That's all I knew. She's not there. I think she's in LA. I'm gonna go to the big city. So, sold the house, like, almost right away. Got all, all the money. Uh, and left a life I had, dude. I knew everybody in Los Angeles, every restaurant I'd walk into. I was like the ma- uh, in, uh, La Jolla, yeah. And, um, knew everybody, right? Had it made. Which was one of the reasons I had to leave, right? So-

• 36:33Lewis Howes?

  Getting comfortable.

• 36:33Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, totally, totally, like, complacent.

• 36:38Grant Cardone?

Drove up here, had all my stuff in the car, had everything else shipped. Didn't know where I was gonna stay. Had no clue where I was gonna stay. Never been here, never met anybody here, didn't know one person here, dude. Didn't make a phone call, didn't check it out, didn't even Google it, going to Los Angeles. I just followed, like, I'm going. And, uh, met her the first night I was here.

• 36:58Lewis Howes?

  No way.

• 36:58Grant Cardone?

Met her in a, uh, in a RV. She was on a, she was on a shoot, uh, uh, they were, they were shooting this TV, uh, commercial. And, um,

• 37:10Grant Cardone?

met her, got her number from the director. I said, hey, give me your number. He said, I can't do that. I said, oh, yeah, you, you can do it, and you will do it. It's when is it gonna happen?

• 37:19Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 37:20Grant Cardone?

Now, later, just give you, make it easy on yourself.

• 37:22Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 37:22Grant Cardone?

Kill yourself in five games. So, so, so, so-

• 37:26Lewis Howes?

  Get ahead while you can.

• 37:27Grant Cardone?

He gave it to me, I called her, nothing to do with me, dude. It was like, she never, she didn't even meet me.

• 37:32Lewis Howes?

You guys didn't meet at all, before that?

• 37:33Grant Cardone?

No, we met. She didn't see me.

• 37:35Lewis Howes?

Uh, you met for like a minute and she was like, alright.

• 37:37Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 37:37Lewis Howes?

  Whatever.

• 37:38Grant Cardone?

I, I saw her, she didn't see me. So I called her the next day. Zero interest. I mean, less than zero.

• 37:45Lewis Howes?

  Does she pick up? No?

• 37:47Grant Cardone?

Well, yeah, I talked to her.

• 37:49Lewis Howes?

  Okay.

• 37:49Grant Cardone?

I said, hey, I'm in, I'm in law, you know, I'm done, I'm good, you know, I could tell, I just, you know. And so, uh, called my mom right after she hung up on me. I said, man, I met my wife. I met my wife. I know who I'm gonna marry. And my wife, my mom's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, have y'all gone out? And I said, no, she wants nothing to do with me. And my mom said, granted, it takes two. You know, that's the beautiful thing about parents, man. They can teach you good stuff and bad stuff. You gotta know which one they're teaching. Your parents have limited data. Just know, know, know what they're bad at, know what they're good at. My mom was a good mom. She was terrible at advice like that. Cause when she said, it takes two, I'm like, oh, I hung up. I said, thanks, mom. I said, I know she's wrong.

• 38:33Grant Cardone?

Takes one person. One. It doesn't take two. One person's gotta be committed. And I just decided, I said, I'm just gonna keep calling her. I'll just keep calling her. I'll just keep calling her until, you know. Called her for 26 times for 13 months, literally write it down.

• 38:48Grant Cardone?

14 days would come by, it's, it's call day.

• 38:50Lewis Howes?

Were you dating other girls or?

• 38:52Grant Cardone?

  Oh shit, yeah.

• 38:53Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 38:54Grant Cardone?

Oh yeah, I was staying in practice, man. Gotta keep it tuned.

• 38:56Lewis Howes?

  Sure, sure.

• 38:58Grant Cardone?

So, so, uh, but now, now that being said, 26 phone calls, okay?

• 39:05Lewis Howes?

  13 months.

• 39:06Grant Cardone?

13 months. The, the 26 phone call, I'm like, hey, look, I'm gonna rent a shooting club. Okay, I'm gonna rent the whole place for me and you to go shooting. I heard you like to shoot. I heard, I heard you like to shoot. Stupid me, didn't ask what she liked. So, trying to knock the door down. Okay, so she, she's like, she's like, she calls him right back. You're gonna go shooting? You like to shoot? I said, yeah. This was on a Thursday. I think it was on a Thursday. I said, yeah, I got it rented for Saturday. I didn't, don't tell them. You know, so, so, uh, she hates that. No, no. So, so, so, uh, she's like, I'll go with you. I said, great. I'll pick you up at nine o'clock. Okay?

• 39:47Grant Cardone?

I hang up with her. I called this chick that I was going out with the next night. I said, we're off.

• 39:52Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 39:53Grant Cardone?

Okay. And she's like, what, why, what's it? I said, I'm going out with my wife.

• 39:56Lewis Howes?

  Dang.

• 39:57Grant Cardone?

She's like, you're married? I said, no, but I'm gonna be. So that's that thing about, man, you gotta commit.

• 40:02Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 40:03Grant Cardone?

You know, you gotta commit and, and some of that means giving up something. You know, so.

• 40:07Lewis Howes?

Giving up on something really good against something really great.

• 40:10Grant Cardone?

Yeah, exactly. So you gotta, you gotta, you know, and I, I, I think a lot of people right now are like, they're talking, they're reading stuff, they're looking at quotes, man, you gotta find something in you about that's a commitment that's so deep. You know, that, that it's not about money anymore, but that the commitment's so deep that you should be rewarded for it. And you know that LeBron should be rewarded.

• 40:31Lewis Howes?

  Absolutely.

• 40:32Grant Cardone?

Okay? You know, and, and, and, and Steph Curry should be rewarded big time, right? I mean, like, if you're gonna hit that kind of commitment,

• 40:43Grant Cardone?

you should be rewarded. You should literally have gold thrown at your, your footsteps. You should, you know, you should, which is freedom, basically. Like, like so much money that you get, you know, somebody said once, they said, look, you want, you want, when money can solve your problems, you don't have that problem anymore. And that's the purpose of money. Right?

• 41:00Lewis Howes?

Do you feel like people can make money, a lot of money, without being fully committed, without mastering skills and continuing to innovate and grow as an individual?

• 41:09Grant Cardone?

No. And then they're not really committed. You know?

• 41:14Grant Cardone?

So I think they're gonna lose it. I think they could do that for a while.

• 41:18Lewis Howes?

  And then lose it, yeah.

• 41:19Grant Cardone?

Yeah. Then, then they're gonna, it's gonna, what, what happens now?

• 41:22Lewis Howes?

Yeah. What do you think people struggle with the most in making money?

• 41:27Grant Cardone?

I think they're trying to find what they love. You know, everybody's going for what they love, the love thing. This is another misnomer in our society.

• 41:34Lewis Howes?

Cause you made a lot of money doing something you didn't love.

• 41:36Grant Cardone?

Exactly. Everybody's like, find something you love. The money will, Tom told that to somebody yesterday at Starbucks. You know, Tom works with me and, and, and, and some, some dude just got off the shift at Chevron, 12 hour shift. And then Tom, I got Tom, you know, who's, who, who's helps, helps us around the family, is giving this guy Chevron advice about, dude, don't take that job. Go do something you love. I'm like, you don't even know what you're talking about, Tom. Quit telling people shit. Okay. You got no business. You're security here, bro. Okay. Don't give people advice like that. That's dumb. He's like, why, why is it dumb? I said, bro, you got, you got, you got like, you can't just do what you love. People have to do the other stuff, man. We wouldn't have a military, man. There would be no Marines, no Navy, no Coast Guard,

• 42:21Grant Cardone?

no policemen, no firemen, if all you did was what you loved. Right? Somebody's got to do the dirty stuff, man. Somebody's got to do the hard stuff. So, I think, you know, and this is where I'm trying to be more Lewis Howes, graceful, graceful. You know, I think, you know, that, that people, people should follow freedom, man. You know, that, that freedom and, and in that freedom, in that chapter on freedom would be, you ain't getting freedom without money. Just not gonna happen. And, and so, you know.

• 42:58Lewis Howes?

Do the thing that can make you the most money. And if you can do it, and if, if you love it as well, then it's a bonus.

• 43:02Grant Cardone?

You, you, you know, at least you'll have some options with the stuff you love. Okay. Van Gogh loved art. He never told anybody about it. Selfish, completely selfish. Okay? So, so many artists go down like this. I'm an artist. I'm not a salesman. Dude, you died and sold one piece of art. Okay? What a damn shame. Okay? How can you produce such unbelievable, unbelievable works and never tell anybody about it? Because you're so freaking self-centered and selfish. Okay? And so introverted into self that you're not willing to go out and say, look at this. Right? Oh, I don't want to brag. Again, you're talking about yourself. The guy's selfish. All these people say, well, I'm an introvert. You're selfish, man. Let's call it what it is.

• 43:46Grant Cardone?

Because when you're talking about your introversion, you're assuming no one else is. You're saying that it's not easy for anybody, like, like, it's not easy for you, but everybody else it is. Everything is about yourself right now when you're saying that. I don't like sales, selfish. I don't like talking to people, selfish. I don't like public speaking. You're talking about yourself again, dude. I don't need money. You're selfish, dude, okay? Your church, your community, the kids, people need money, okay? Well, that's not who I am. You're talking about yourself again. See, and, and, like, like, I could quit working right now. I don't need to do this today. Financially, I'm done. I can't, I can't exhaust it. But it would be selfish of me to stop, right? Elon Musk, he's an unselfish dude. That's what I know about him for sure.

• 44:31Grant Cardone?

He's a genius and he's unselfish. Perfect combination.

• 44:34Lewis Howes?

He's trying to move the world forward.

• 44:35Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 44:36Lewis Howes?

With his gifts, his talents, his...

• 44:37Grant Cardone?

He doesn't have to do that.

• 44:38Lewis Howes?

Yeah. He's made a lot of money.

• 44:40Grant Cardone?

Yeah, Mark Cuban. Mark Cuban's on TV all the time. By the way, all these super, super successful dudes, they're completely doing what your parents said not to do. Getting a lot of attention, right? I mean, why is Mark Cuban on TV three or four, five times a week?

• 44:56Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 44:57Grant Cardone?

Okay, and then we'll take every interview they give him.

• 44:59Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 45:00Grant Cardone?

Because he knows attention equals freedom. Attention equals, I can start moving the bar here on the way people do things. Not just money, right, but, but power and influence.

• 45:10Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 45:12Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 45:13Lewis Howes?

You get bored if you just stop today anyways.

• 45:15Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, dude, I get it.

• 45:15Lewis Howes?

You get a lot of trouble. He says she won't let you stop, right?

• 45:18Grant Cardone?

She won't, she won't. She keeps, she keeps pushing on me.

• 45:21Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 45:22Grant Cardone?

Because she knows, she knows if I don't... That, that was a good piece that came out in the thing the other night, but it was, it was... Elena pushes me. Elena's the one... She, she's the one that wants me to be a billionaire. I, I don't really think about it that much.

• 45:34Lewis Howes?

  Really?

• 45:34Grant Cardone?

I think it's kind of stupid.

• 45:37Grant Cardone?

But, but, because what are you going to do with it, you know? She's the one that says, no, no, you need to do it. Really, why? I mean, it's just, it's, it's a number. It's ridiculous. You can't spend that much money, right? And she's like, no, you need to do it because you can't. One, you're close. Two, you can. And three, you need a goal so big, right? That, that, that you're chasing that, that you're so interested in that, that you're excited and you're living and you're youthful and you're, you know, you got a lot of... And, and by the way, you're not consuming me. You, you don't turn into a carnivore because you're bored. And she's right, because every time in my life when I'm bored, I become destructive.

• 46:16Lewis Howes?

  You get nasty, negative.

• 46:17Grant Cardone?

I get nasty, dude. I get nasty. I get... Because I'm not being productive, man. Work is a... I think work is a gift. Is the gift that doesn't look like a gift from God. You know, that people all talk about. They don't want to work. They hate work. They hate their job. Dude, I love my jobs, you know? I love jobs. I love having a place to work. I've been out of work, you know? I'll take any job. I'd rather any job than no job. I'd go flip hamburgers. I like doing dirty jobs. Mike Rowe, I love Mike Rowe, you know, because he'll do the dirty job. And I trust people that will do dirty jobs. And I don't trust people that's like, "Oh, J O B, just overbroke." Dude, you're broke now. If you even know that freaking term, you're broke now.

• 47:02Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 47:03Grant Cardone?

  Okay?

• 47:05Lewis Howes?

Wow. What's the thing that you think about the most that most people don't know about?

• 47:12Grant Cardone?

  Probably dying. You know?

• 47:14Lewis Howes?

  What do you think about?

• 47:16Grant Cardone?

Dude, running out of time. I'm not worried about dying. I'm worried about just running out of time. Like...

• 47:20Lewis Howes?

Running out of time to do what?

• 47:23Grant Cardone?

For anybody to know me. You know, to have made a difference, like to... You know, my dad died when he was 52, so... He had just... What he thought was just made it. He just made it, you know? Him and my mom were like celebrating, "Oh, we made it." He bought the house he wanted. And 18 months later, he was dead. So, and then I watched my older brother, he was 20, 25, I guess. I was 20. He was 25. He died when he was 25. And I'm like, "Dude, man, this thing's short. This runway's short."

• 47:56Lewis Howes?

Your older brother died at 25?

• 47:57Grant Cardone?

He was... I'm talking to him Sunday night, getting advice from him. I'm 20. I was in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was in Grand Junction, Colorado, on a Sunday night. I said, "Man, you think I should do it, man? You think I should do it?" He's like, "Don't do it, man. Don't do it." He was dead the next morning.

• 48:14Grant Cardone?

So I just like my whole life, I'm 59, dude, I've been thinking I was gonna die since I was like 18. Like, okay, I got a couple more years.

• 48:22Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 48:24Grant Cardone?

So you'll see me like, I still have this, I'm in a hurry to get someplace, you know.

• 48:29Lewis Howes?

Urgency. I think life is now.

• 48:31Grant Cardone?

  Huh?

• 48:32Lewis Howes?

Life is now. It's not 10 years from now.

• 48:33Grant Cardone?

  That's right. That's right.

• 48:35Lewis Howes?

Now is the time to make a decision. Now's the time to push. Now's the time to be more aggressive and go for what you want.

• 48:39Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 48:39Lewis Howes?

  And get freedom.

• 48:40Grant Cardone?

Yeah. Yeah. And 10 years from now, the results of what you get 10 years from now is gonna be what you did right now.

• 48:46Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 48:47Grant Cardone?

So like, like in my office, everything is now, you know? Hey, did you send that deal in? No, I'm gonna get to it. No, you ain't gonna get to it, dude. We're gonna do it right now.

• 48:56Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 48:56Grant Cardone?

  Let's do it right now.

• 48:57Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 48:58Grant Cardone?

And I think I shared something with your group the other night about anytime I, my, my, the people that work with me are overwhelmed, we add something.

• 49:06Lewis Howes?

  Oh, that's amazing.

• 49:07Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 49:08Lewis Howes?

  That's crazy.

• 49:09Grant Cardone?

Yeah, cuz it proves to everybody, dude.

• 49:11Lewis Howes?

  You're not overwhelmed.

• 49:12Grant Cardone?

Come on, you're in drama, dude. You're being like a little girl right now.

• 49:15Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 49:16Grant Cardone?

Okay, ladies, please don't take offense to that. I love little girls, okay? I have two of them and they're like princesses. But I teach my little girls, don't act like a little girl. Sometimes you gotta throw her down.

• 49:28Lewis Howes?

Wow. And I love how you do every single day, everything is measured and everything is tracked and everything is talked about publicly with your team. You think, I think you said you have 50 or 60 people on the team?

• 49:38Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 49:38Lewis Howes?

So at 9:05 every single morning, the whole team is there. What if someone's late? Is that okay or is it?

• 49:43Grant Cardone?

  No.

• 49:44Lewis Howes?

  No. So everyone's there, 9:05.

• 49:46Grant Cardone?

I think that happens twice, second time you're dead.

• 49:47Lewis Howes?

  Oh, really? Wow.

• 49:48Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 49:49Lewis Howes?

So everyone's there, uh, and then you list out a number of stats, right? And what are some of the things you guys list out?

• 49:55Grant Cardone?

Everything, everything, everything that would be, uh, that would be validation of success, you know? So like your wall here, right? All the people that came in here, you know? Uh, that's a validation. That's a reminder, hey, this is working. We don't talk about anything negative in the meeting. Zero. No administration, administrative. Oh, turn in your, somebody mentioned the insurance or, or the carrier or something like that. We don't do that in this meeting. Okay. This meeting is about all the battles we won. Okay. If, if 17 people died, that will not be reported in this meeting. This is going to be all the hills that we, we took. Right? So, um, it's going to be YouTube views. It's going to be Instagram followers, um,

• 50:39Grant Cardone?

all the way down to calls, contacts, call time. Like we hit every front. We, we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll knock on a door. We'll call cold. We'll use technology.

• 50:53Lewis Howes?

Everything. You talk, you say sales numbers from the previous day as well.

• 50:56Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, everything.

• 50:56Lewis Howes?

Yeah. And I love how you said that you're constantly looking to execute people. Is that right? I think I said it, how you said it.

• 51:03Grant Cardone?

  Totally, totally.

• 51:04Lewis Howes?

So if sale, so if it's not going up.

• 51:06Grant Cardone?

  They call me General Grant.

• 51:07Lewis Howes?

General Grant. If sales are not going up or numbers are not going up, then you're looking for.

• 51:12Grant Cardone?

We look for somebody that, yeah, we, we, I'm sorry to interrupt you.

• 51:15Lewis Howes?

  You're good.

• 51:16Grant Cardone?

No, we, we, we look for somebody to execute. So we do not tolerate a flat number. So

• 51:24Grant Cardone?

if I go to a company, I'm like, how you guys doing? You know, oh man, we, you know, we've been, you know, we just, we, we, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're on track to do what we did last quarter. You're dying dude. You understand you're dying, right? You know, that, that you can't keep a flat line, a flat line. Gravity will pull a flat line down. So all flat, li- flat lines are death, basically.

• 51:44Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 51:44Grant Cardone?

You know, that's, that's, flat line. He's flat lining. You know, so flat lines for me, like I'm dying. And I've been there, by the way, I had a company, a couple of companies, actually. I let flat line for a while and then, and I paid the price of that. So I'm like, I'll never let that happen.

• 51:59Lewis Howes?

I think it's also like a psychological thing. You just get less inspired, you're less motivated, you're not seeing growth.

• 52:04Grant Cardone?

You know, and this is happening in newspapers. It's happening in TV, happened to Macy's. And nobody wants to pay attention to it. You know, it happened to Blockbuster. They, they, they just kept saying for years, no, it's, it's coming back. We're coming back. No, you're not dude. It's over. Okay. So, flat lines are also for households.

• 52:24Grant Cardone?

Households in America. By the way, economy defined is the management of a household by definition. And, and the reason I say this is because when I'm talking about graphs right now, I have this visual image of the graph of the median income in America and it's going just like this. It was flat for years. It was doing like this for back in the 50s and 60s. And then all of a sudden it flattened out and now it's doing this.

• 52:47Lewis Howes?

  Really?

• 52:47Grant Cardone?

It's in this major emergency trend right here.

• 52:49Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 52:50Grant Cardone?

And it's been like this for like 18 years now, just like doing just like this. You can't reverse this trend, by the way. Too, it's too many people responsible for it.

• 52:59Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 52:59Grant Cardone?

So people need to be, this is the middle class that everybody thinks is safe.

• 53:05Grant Cardone?

Okay. If, if they told you the truth, they would say this is a poverty line today. Cause that's what it will be tomorrow.

• 53:11Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 53:12Grant Cardone?

So, and these are the people, 76% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. So they're not looking at this graph. They're like, I'm better off than, than the guy that's homeless because I got my two BMWs and, and, and, and I got my two kids going to, to two good schools in debt.

• 53:29Lewis Howes?

Right. They're all, they're all in debt.

• 53:31Grant Cardone?

To, like up to here, right? But my house, my house, it's almost paid for in 15 years, it's going to be paid for. It all that, all the, those are three major scams in America. The house, puffed up the banks, right? Uh, the schools, the college debt, 1.3 trillion. Tremendous amount of Wall Street money sitting here. That's all pension fund money. And, and so, and, but everybody's denying this graph right here because we're better off than people in Ethiopia.

• 54:03Grant Cardone?

So that's why I look at graphs, right? Cause numbers don't lie. People lie.

• 54:06Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 54:06Grant Cardone?

  Numbers don't lie.

• 54:07Lewis Howes?

That is true. Uh, biggest failure you've ever experienced and the biggest lesson you learned from it?

• 54:14Grant Cardone?

  Biggest failure?

• 54:15Lewis Howes?

  Personally, professionally?

• 54:16Grant Cardone?

Yeah, yeah. Well, I mean, man, so many failures, like, you know, wasted so many, so many years, nine years on drugs. That was a big failure.

• 54:24Lewis Howes?

  The big lesson though?

• 54:26Grant Cardone?

Hmm. The lesson there is don't use drugs.

• 54:30Grant Cardone?

  Any drug, dude.

• 54:31Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 54:31Grant Cardone?

Like any, like, like I'm telling you, these drugs are so, they're so dangerous. You know, you'd, cause particularly if you have a lot of potential.

• 54:41Grant Cardone?

Um, yeah, don't use drugs, man. Uh, number two, uh, another, another mistake was, uh, you know, and I, I was too conservative with money for too long.

• 54:53Grant Cardone?

I listened to my rich uncle, he was a millionaire uncle. I listened to my, my rich, my millionaire uncle had too much of an influence for too long over, over my life. I, I should have been learning, I should have been watching what the billionaires do. They don't operate like millionaires.

• 55:09Lewis Howes?

  How do they operate differently?

• 55:10Grant Cardone?

  They throw down.

• 55:13Grant Cardone?

Totally different. Like, the think is completely different. They, they don't worry about quarters. The millionaire is worried about quarters. He's a miser. They're misers. I know people worth four and five million dollars, they're total misers. Total, like degraded. They're as bad off as the freaking guy on a street corner. You know, won't give anybody anything, won't share anything, looks for every shortcut, every sale. Well, I know a guy that's a car dealer. That he, he must own 25 car dealerships. Probably makes, I don't know, four, 500. He, he, he's gotta be worth a billion dollars.

• 55:47Lewis Howes?

  Really?

• 55:48Grant Cardone?

He goes twice a year and gets one of his employees to get a new Macy's card. So he can get an extra 15% of.

• 55:56Lewis Howes?

  Really?

• 55:56Grant Cardone?

Freaking complete insanity. You know, he's a, probably a billionaire on paper, but not a billionaire in his heart. Cause the, the real players, the real guys, they'll go out and buy a jet. That's why I bought a jet. I'm like, okay, my millionaire uncle would never buy a jet. That's a bad investment. But the billionaires, they all own them. Why? Cause they value time more than money. Right? They wanna buy time.

• 56:18Lewis Howes?

Cause it doesn't make sense financially for you.

• 56:20Grant Cardone?

  No.

• 56:21Lewis Howes?

  You're losing money on.

• 56:22Grant Cardone?

Totally. All, all, all jets go to zero. So when you buy a jet for 60 million, you know that jet's going to zero. One day it's gonna be in some salvage, some joint, somewhere being taken apart for parts. So all jets go to zero. So you know when you're buying it, it's going down to zero. It's not gonna be worth more money.

• 56:40Lewis Howes?

But the things it brings you.

• 56:41Grant Cardone?

Dude, it buys you time, it buys you. A jet is not like a boat, by the way. A jet can get you to business. People go to boats. Jets go to people. And so I can just tell you, we bought that jet two years ago. I paid for it the first year.

• 56:56Lewis Howes?

  From the deals you got.

• 56:57Grant Cardone?

It got me to new places. Yeah. And it got me a better quality of life because now my kids are with me, you know, hanging out.

• 57:02Lewis Howes?

Yeah. Peace of mind as well. Yeah.

• 57:05Grant Cardone?

So, big failures. I did business with a guy when I was 45 years old that I shouldn't have done business with. That was a huge, huge mistake. And a big lesson I got from that though was, you know, I'm not, I'm not, I know what's true. I know when I see the indicators on a dude, I don't need anybody to tell me he's all right or not all right. I know what I know.

• 57:25Lewis Howes?

Trust the intuition. Trust your discernment.

• 57:27Grant Cardone?

And what I see, not just the feeling, but like, people do certain things. Bad guys do, and bad women, they, they just, they can't hide it. They do do certain things. If you just pay attention. Everybody that's ever been in a bad relationship with somebody that left them with a worse situation, there was some clue along the way that you just denied. Later you're like, damn, I knew it, man.

• 57:52Lewis Howes?

  Exactly.

• 57:53Grant Cardone?

I knew, I knew she had something. I knew he had something, you know, and now they gave it to me. Like that old saying, whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. That's not true. Chlamydia will go with you everywhere.

• 58:06Lewis Howes?

  It's true.

• 58:07Grant Cardone?

  Right.

• 58:08Lewis Howes?

Images will go online of what happened.

• 58:10Grant Cardone?

Exactly. Or how about mental images?

• 58:12Lewis Howes?

  That's true. Yeah, that's true.

• 58:14Grant Cardone?

  You know.

• 58:14Lewis Howes?

Uh, biggest thing that's holding you back right now that's, uh, holding you back from reaching the next level?

• 58:22Grant Cardone?

Uh, man, I don't know. Courage, probably, you know?

• 58:26Lewis Howes?

You don't think you have enough courage?

• 58:28Grant Cardone?

I think I could use a dash more.

• 58:30Lewis Howes?

Really? What do you, what would you say is the biggest thing that holds him back from reaching to what his potential is in the next, you know, year or right now? Nothing's holding him back?

• 58:40Grant Cardone?

That's my wife. She believes in me.

• 58:42Lewis Howes?

  Wow.

• 58:45Lewis Howes?

  Why do you say courage?

• 58:47Grant Cardone?

I mean, well, because, because, you know, rather than bragging about that, you know, ninety million dollar deal I'm gonna do, I could go figure out how to do nine hundred million at one time.

• 59:01Grant Cardone?

You know, but instead I'm gonna take the easy, I'm gonna take the layup.

• 59:04Lewis Howes?

Why are you taking the layup and not getting the slam dunk?

• 59:06Grant Cardone?

Cause man dude, that's a big deal. Ninety million's a big deal, right? I'm like, damn, that's a big deal dude. Like, like, but, but, but if I was gonna look, if I look back over my career, right? That's what I've been doing the whole time. I've been making, I've been making the layups. Even though they look like, oh goddamn, that's, that's huge, right? But what do we compare, we're just comparing, we're just doing the middle class comparison thing. Elon Musk is going to Mars, man.

• 59:32Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 59:33Grant Cardone?

So, you know? And they're like, there's no life there. We'll create it. We'll put two fusion bombs above it and we'll freaking explode them and maybe something will happen. I'm like, damn, that's big. See, and that's why, man, that's, that's the people you wanna learn from.

• 59:47Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 59:48Grant Cardone?

Not just anybody and everybody online. People should be inspired by just two or three or four people like that, that the think is so enormous, right? So, anyway, rather than doing the ninety million dollar deal, I should like, hey, why don't I just go do ten of those at one time? Nine hundred. You know, the ten X thing, it doesn't really, there is no end to the ten X.

• 1:00:07Lewis Howes?

No, cause once you're there, then there's another ten X.

• 1:00:09Grant Cardone?

Well, ten is, and the X is a multiplier.

• 1:00:12Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:12Grant Cardone?

So, most people miss that in the book. They're like, oh, it's ten X, you got a ten X everything. I'm like, dude, the X is a multiplication symbol. It's ten times, right? And it doesn't end, it just keeps timing. So, you know that song, I think Jay-Z does it. He's like, one million, two million, three million, five mil, no, one million, two million, three million, twenty million, I'm so good at math. Cause he's, he's jumping, he's looking for leaps. And so, I would go do a nine hundred million dollar deal. That would be awesome.

• 1:00:38Lewis Howes?

What's it gonna take for you to go do that now?

• 1:00:42Grant Cardone?

Courage and, and, and a heavy pitch. I mean, I need a whipping cream pitch.

• 1:00:47Lewis Howes?

I feel like you got it. I think you got both of those, don't you?

• 1:00:50Grant Cardone?

I need a whipping cream pitch, dude. Heavy, heavy whipping cream. And, and, oh, you just got that. And, and I need, uh, I need some dough, dude.

• 1:00:58Lewis Howes?

Oh, you need money to do that.

• 1:00:59Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I mean, I need, I need a hundred and I need, yeah, 225 million.

• 1:01:03Lewis Howes?

  So who's got your money?

• 1:01:04Grant Cardone?

That's right. That's the battle cry.

• 1:01:06Lewis Howes?

  Who's got the money?

• 1:01:06Grant Cardone?

See, this is good, dude. You got me all jacked up, man. I'm gonna make you a piece of this deal.

• 1:01:10Lewis Howes?

  Who's got the hundred million?

• 1:01:11Grant Cardone?

This happened right here in the House of Greatness.

• 1:01:13Lewis Howes?

Who's got the hundred million that you can go get?

• 1:01:16Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I can get the 225. The 225 is not the problem. It's like, can I go pitch?

• 1:01:21Lewis Howes?

Who do you need to pitch to?

• 1:01:23Grant Cardone?

I need to pitch to a group.

• 1:01:24Lewis Howes?

  Which group?

• 1:01:25Grant Cardone?

I, I need to find somebody that needs me on the ground, you know? Chinese, Chinese, Japanese.

• 1:01:31Lewis Howes?

  There's no one here locally?

• 1:01:33Grant Cardone?

Uh, this deal could be, could be, could be. You know, I need to go think that way, you see? See now, damn dude, the School of Greatness.

• 1:01:41Lewis Howes?

That's why people come here. That's why people come here.

• 1:01:43Grant Cardone?

It's big, dude, because see, see, now, here's the problem with me. Once I bite the apple, I don't let go of it. I, I can't, I, I'll never be able to get off this 900 now.

• 1:01:54Lewis Howes?

  Well, here's the thing.

• 1:01:54Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:55Lewis Howes?

If I'm gonna be honest with you.

• 1:01:56Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:01:56Lewis Howes?

I feel like you're playing small. I feel like you've been playing, like, you play big to the, like, so many people that watch you.

• 1:02:02Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:02:03Lewis Howes?

But knowing you and being around your energy and seeing how you do events, I'm just like, damn, Grant is just like throwing it down and it's so easy for him. They look big, but it's not that big for you.

• 1:02:12Grant Cardone?

  You're right, dude.

• 1:02:13Lewis Howes?

  It's so small.

• 1:02:14Grant Cardone?

  Dude.

• 1:02:14Lewis Howes?

Compared to what I know you're capable of.

• 1:02:16Grant Cardone?

  Dude.

• 1:02:17Lewis Howes?

And I see like, like the confidence that you have and the way you pitch.

• 1:02:20Grant Cardone?

Why are you talking dirty to me?

• 1:02:22Lewis Howes?

The confidence you have with the way you pitch.

• 1:02:24Grant Cardone?

I'm about to cheat, cheat on you right now.

• 1:02:27Lewis Howes?

  I'm serious, though.

• 1:02:27Grant Cardone?

  She's like, she'd be like, let's roll.

• 1:02:29Lewis Howes?

  Here's the thing.

• 1:02:29Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:02:30Lewis Howes?

The confidence I have, when I watch your videos of you just on the phone with someone selling like, whether it's a $500 package to a $500,000 package. You just have so much, um, there's just nothing that holds you back. And so I don't understand, it's just a couple extra zeros.

• 1:02:46Grant Cardone?

  Dude, nobody even knows anything.

• 1:02:48Lewis Howes?

  It's the same deal.

• 1:02:48Grant Cardone?

  It's the same deal.

• 1:02:49Lewis Howes?

Between a $2 sticker and a $2 million deal, it's the same deal. And you got the courage and the energy to make it happen already. So I don't know what the hell you're waiting for.

• 1:02:58Grant Cardone?

  It's wrong.

• 1:02:59Lewis Howes?

Who's got your money? Go give them a call right now.

• 1:03:01Grant Cardone?

There's so much money on this planet.

• 1:03:03Lewis Howes?

  So much.

• 1:03:04Grant Cardone?

  It's unbelievable.

• 1:03:05Lewis Howes?

I want to commit, here's what I want.

• 1:03:07Grant Cardone?

See, but when we start having these conversations, it's like I'm at a campfire.

• 1:03:11Lewis Howes?

  Here's the thing.

• 1:03:12Grant Cardone?

I feel like I got, I need a marshmallow right now. We're toasting the marshmallows and you're my camp teacher, right? This is getting weird, right? Hey, what are you, what are you, what are you doing in my camping bag? That's weird. Okay. So I'm in here, I'm roasting my marshmallows and you're like, hey, man, dude. And I'm like, dude, and the stars are out there and it's dark and it's nice. No mosquitoes though.

• 1:03:31Lewis Howes?

  Oh, I hate mosquitoes.

• 1:03:32Grant Cardone?

Oh, I hate them, man. We went to St. Bart's, man, there were so many mosquitoes.

• 1:03:36Lewis Howes?

I can't go. Mosquitoes love me.

• 1:03:38Grant Cardone?

Do they do? Then you have to come.

• 1:03:40Lewis Howes?

  Oh, no.

• 1:03:41Grant Cardone?

Cause if they love you, they'll stay off of me.

• 1:03:42Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, right, exactly.

• 1:03:44Grant Cardone?

Yeah, so, so you see, you just changed my life, bro.

• 1:03:46Lewis Howes?

Here's the thing I want to.

• 1:03:46Grant Cardone?

And this is the beautiful, beautiful thing about being around people like you. You know, getting around the right people.

• 1:03:51Lewis Howes?

Yeah, yeah. I want a commitment from you.

• 1:03:54Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:54Lewis Howes?

Of a date this year that you're gonna land a $900 million deal.

• 1:03:58Grant Cardone?

Man, I can't do that this year, dude.

• 1:04:00Lewis Howes?

  Why not?

• 1:04:00Grant Cardone?

We, we don't need to put a date on it, okay? I don't need to put a date on it, but I, but I can say that.

• 1:04:05Lewis Howes?

I want to know by when.

• 1:04:06Grant Cardone?

Yeah. I could probably pull this off.

• 1:04:09Lewis Howes?

  Or next year.

• 1:04:09Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I could pull this off, I could probably pull this off. Well, one, I guarantee I'll pull it off in my lifetime.

• 1:04:15Lewis Howes?

Yeah, but why not this year? Why, why does it have to be three, five more years?

• 1:04:19Grant Cardone?

Bitch. I'll take time out of the equation. Trust me, man, I already got, I see the target. Once I see the target, okay? It's how fast can we get there now?

• 1:04:28Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, so how fast?

• 1:04:29Grant Cardone?

So you inspired me, bro. I'm gonna give you, I think, I, I think we should give him like a small percentage of this deal, don't you?

• 1:04:37Lewis Howes?

I don't need anything, I want the satisfaction that you're gonna create.

• 1:04:39Grant Cardone?

  Why you say that?

• 1:04:40Lewis Howes?

  Because I know.

• 1:04:41Grant Cardone?

  I'm offering it to you.

• 1:04:42Lewis Howes?

If you want to give it to me, I'll take it.

• 1:04:43Grant Cardone?

Shit, man, that'd be good, dude, that'd be good.

• 1:04:45Lewis Howes?

  I'll take it.

• 1:04:46Grant Cardone?

That'd be good. You know how much mileage we could get out of that?

• 1:04:48Lewis Howes?

I'm in, I'm in. Whatever you want to give me, I'll take it, but.

• 1:04:51Grant Cardone?

I tell you what I'll do. I'll do the $900 million deal and I'll do it within 36 months.

• 1:04:56Lewis Howes?

  36?

• 1:04:57Grant Cardone?

Yeah. And I'll try to take time out of that and when I do it, by the way, I'll come back here, okay? And I'll, I'll make it available on social media while we're doing the deal.

• 1:05:07Lewis Howes?

That'd be huge. That'd be huge. I would love to see it.

• 1:05:10Grant Cardone?

I won't close the doors, okay? So now I also have to figure out how to get a group to let me actually make it visible and they don't like that.

• 1:05:17Lewis Howes?

  Hmm.

• 1:05:18Grant Cardone?

Cause you know how all these rich people, they go behind the curtain? You know, they get rich and they're like, okay, now we're going dark.

• 1:05:23Lewis Howes?

Right. Maybe they don't acknowledge who they are or something, but yeah. Yeah, I would like to see you see shrink that in half the time.

• 1:05:30Grant Cardone?

Eighteen months. That's the number I was thinking. I was thinking eighteen months. We were thinking eighteen months. We were thinking eighteen months.

• 1:05:37Lewis Howes?

You're just playing. Isn't he being safe right now?

• 1:05:39Grant Cardone?

  Do I have to?

• 1:05:40Lewis Howes?

  I don't know. I don't know why you're waiting.

• 1:05:42Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:05:43Lewis Howes?

You got everything at your disposal right this moment.

• 1:05:45Grant Cardone?

  I mean, I need, I mean, I need money. I need two twenty-five. I need two hundred twenty-five million.

• 1:05:49Lewis Howes?

You have that, right? That you can just say, give me the money.

• 1:05:51Grant Cardone?

But then I need the property. I need nine hundred million dollars worth of property. So that's, that's nine thousand apartments. That's what that is. Nine thousand apartments.

• 1:05:58Lewis Howes?

How many you got right now?

• 1:05:59Grant Cardone?

I got four thousand. So I gotta do.

• 1:06:01Lewis Howes?

Almost a little more than double.

• 1:06:02Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:06:04Lewis Howes?

It's not a big deal, man. Seems like nothing.

• 1:06:05Grant Cardone?

Yeah, man. Let's go, baby. Get me on Ellen.

• 1:06:09Lewis Howes?

Let's go. She's not gonna do it for you.

• 1:06:11Grant Cardone?

  No.

• 1:06:12Lewis Howes?

You're gonna do it for you.

• 1:06:13Grant Cardone?

She won't have me on the show either.

• 1:06:13Lewis Howes?

Exactly. I like this. Um, okay, let's.

• 1:06:17Grant Cardone?

  Fucking carnivore.

• 1:06:18Lewis Howes?

Let's go over a few more.

• 1:06:18Grant Cardone?

We don't have carnivores on this show. This is daytime TV, man.

• 1:06:23Lewis Howes?

Let's do a few more questions, you guys.

• 1:06:24Grant Cardone?

I love you. I love you, Louis. Everybody out there in podcast land, okay? You gotta give Louis, Louis, some super props. Awesome dude, man. Awesome dude.

• 1:06:33Lewis Howes?

I appreciate it. Um, let's talk about balance.

• 1:06:37Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:06:38Lewis Howes?

Cause I'm sure there's people listening right now who are thinking like, Grant is crazy.

• 1:06:41Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:06:41Lewis Howes?

He's got everything he want. He's got more money than I could ever dream of. This seems unrealistic.

• 1:06:46Grant Cardone?

That was good, that conversation we just had, though.

• 1:06:47Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, it was.

• 1:06:48Grant Cardone?

I feel like I was with my priest.

• 1:06:49Lewis Howes?

Yes. Uh, does he have a balanced life? He's got two kids. Do his kids ever see him? Does his wife ever see him? Do they, is it just about money, money, money all day long? Or is there anything else? Or is there anything else that's valuable to his life?

• 1:07:03Grant Cardone?

Dude, I spend more time with my kids than ninety-nine percent of the people I know. I spend more time with my wife than ninety-nine point nine percent of all the husbands out there. So you guys, you guys judging me from freaking fifty-six miles away, you know, you don't know what I do, you know? People be like, man, do you ever sleep? I sleep more than most human beings. Okay? You, you, you, you guys don't see all that because you see what I do when I'm awake, right? So I'm the guy that's on Snapchat with my kids.

• 1:07:35Grant Cardone?

And getting hated on for that. Oh, why you got your three year old? Uh, cause she's in my life. I mean, what should I put her in a closet? You know, uh, oh, man, you got your wife on there. Yeah, yeah, dude, I got my wife on there. You know what? I'm proud of my wife. Okay. Yeah, I'm doing my life. I'm not doing a Snapchat or YouTube video or a real estate deal. I'm doing my life. So when you challenge me with the 900 million, the first thing I'm doing. Like, I don't know if you saw my whole head just spinning off right here, dude. I was like, I'm just going through all the calculations. Time, money, where's it gonna happen? Who do I gotta pitch? I mean, I mean, I'm glad I came here. I don't know if anybody else is getting anything out of this. I guarantee you I'm gonna make more money and there's gonna be views.

• 1:08:16Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:18Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:18Grant Cardone?

Okay, so I'm inspired. So, yeah, I got plenty of balance, you know, I'm just not in search of it.

• 1:08:24Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 1:08:25Grant Cardone?

  Cause I'm doing my life.

• 1:08:26Lewis Howes?

Yeah, you incorporate it all. It's all together, yeah.

• 1:08:28Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:08:28Lewis Howes?

And you're, you're working out the other.

• 1:08:30Grant Cardone?

I take whatever, you know, I take whatever, whatever's on the table is what I take. So I just take whatever's there.

• 1:08:39Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:40Grant Cardone?

You know, what, what I mean by that is I'm not trying to spin plates. I'm not trying to manage an activity. Time management is another management activity. It is completely ridiculous that people without time would try to manage it. Like dude, you can't even manage what you have now. Why would you end up with another task? Now time man, oh, now I gotta manage my time. Okay. So, you know, I know Tim Ferriss, the four hour work week, I don't know why, every time I say time management, I think about Tim Ferriss. I'm like, dude, that's, that's a dumb, ain't nobody ever done a four hour work week. I'd kill myself. Might be the cause of depression. Like, stay busy. Stay busy. You won't put a gun in your mouth.

• 1:09:18Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:18Grant Cardone?

  You know?

• 1:09:19Lewis Howes?

  There's no purpose.

• 1:09:20Grant Cardone?

Run from one thing to the next thing as fast as you can. And, and everybody's like, oh, man, but what about life balance? You're selfish. See, we're back to talking to you about yourself again, you know? Rather than, sometimes I don't wanna do the kids, you know? This, this will give me a bad father, uh, checkmark. Dude, I, I tell Olin all the time, I'm like, but you ain't gotta be with him all the time. Okay, they're, they're five and seven. Nobody likes a kid that long. Okay, come on. Who, nobody would like a five year old kid that long.

• 1:09:51Lewis Howes?

  24/7, yeah.

• 1:09:52Grant Cardone?

  Huh?

• 1:09:52Lewis Howes?

  24/7, yeah.

• 1:09:53Grant Cardone?

It's not good TV, but it's true, right? So, so.

• 1:09:58Grant Cardone?

I have a life where I get to spend the time with them I want to spend with them where I'm the good father and then I'm done.

• 1:10:05Grant Cardone?

Okay, I know this sounds terrible, but that's what I want. And by the way, they're gonna be done with me before I'm done with them anyway.

• 1:10:11Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 1:10:12Grant Cardone?

It's not like they want two hours of Papa.

• 1:10:16Lewis Howes?

They're also their video game or watching a movie or playing with their friends.

• 1:10:19Grant Cardone?

Exactly, so, but I do want a good time with them. So what I do is I create situations where I get to go spend good quality time with them.

• 1:10:29Grant Cardone?

Buying the jet was one thing, that was a completely unselfish thing to do, so my kids could be on that plane with me, running up and down the aisles like little maniacs, you know, swinging between the seats and doing their deal and they don't have to put seat belts on and nobody's telling them to sit down and, and the food's good and they get to get on the microphone with the captain. Welcome to 10x Airlines where everyone gets to do whatever they want. My kids do this interview, we should get them a copy of that to play in the show. Candy for everyone, right? So my kids get to do that dude, because, and my kids are not spoiled by the way, okay? They exchange with us in big ways, but that's what I mean about, create the life you want, man, so you can have not balance, but life, right?

• 1:11:11Grant Cardone?

I'm doing my life, I don't do jobs, I do my life, so coming here to be with you today adds quality to my life. I didn't come this to, to, to spread the Grant Cardone name. I, I spend time with Lewis Howes because it makes Grant's life, Grant's life.

• 1:11:29Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:30Lewis Howes?

  I like him.

• 1:11:30Grant Cardone?

  Come on, man.

• 1:11:31Lewis Howes?

What's, what's a non-negotiable for you? Every single day you must do?

• 1:11:34Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:36Lewis Howes?

That you feel like you have, no matter what, whether it's prayer or being with your-

• 1:11:39Grant Cardone?

Five, five days of workouts, man, I'm feeling kinda shredded, shredded executive.

• 1:11:43Lewis Howes?

  You do look lean, man.

• 1:11:44Grant Cardone?

  Huh?

• 1:11:45Lewis Howes?

  You look really lean.

• 1:11:46Grant Cardone?

No, thank you, man, I'm, I'm working on it.

• 1:11:47Lewis Howes?

And you're, how old are you, you're almost 60, is that right?

• 1:11:49Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:11:49Lewis Howes?

  It's crazy, man.

• 1:11:50Grant Cardone?

  Crazy dude.

• 1:11:51Lewis Howes?

  Saying youthful.

• 1:11:52Grant Cardone?

  It's crazy. Uh, let's see, um, non-negotiables.

• 1:11:56Lewis Howes?

Something you gotta do every single day.

• 1:11:58Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I don't really think like that, but I do like the question. I don't really think like that.

• 1:12:04Lewis Howes?

Like it's working out something you feel like you must do?

• 1:12:06Grant Cardone?

Yeah, yeah, I'd like to, but, but, but you know, I, I can give up on it without, you know. It is right now, for the next three or four weeks, I will work out every day.

• 1:12:17Grant Cardone?

  A non-negotiable.

• 1:12:19Lewis Howes?

Like you gotta kiss your wife, you gotta tuck your kids to the bed, you know.

• 1:12:24Grant Cardone?

Nah, uh, I don't, I don't think like that. I think, I think, you know, I know, I know what you're getting me, you know. Uh, dude, I push myself so hard. I don't, I don't, you know, I don't, I don't have a list of non-negotiable. I just like, I'm. I, I am, I, when people talk about beast, I mean, if anybody ever wants to give me a compliment, call me a beast. Cause that, that is the thing that, that I most relate to this beast-like, not a hustle, not a grind, but beast mode. I, I am machine-like. I think Terminator. I'm like, dude, I like the Terminator. I am machine-like.

• 1:12:57Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:57Grant Cardone?

  I am very machine-like.

• 1:12:58Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:59Grant Cardone?

I think about this, you know.

• 1:13:04Grant Cardone?

So, yeah, I, I have tremendous, uh, uh, work ethic, you know, Gary, Gary Vaynerchuk tried to, he's like, I, I outwork you, Grant. I'm like, dude, people that outwork other people, don't talk about it. Okay. I mean, that's not work.

• 1:13:16Lewis Howes?

  Right.

• 1:13:17Grant Cardone?

Yeah, that you, you don't have bragging rights on who works the most. Okay. You either are in beast mode or you're not. And so there's no reason to like, I get the big title for, he works his ass off, by the way.

• 1:13:28Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, he does.

• 1:13:29Grant Cardone?

And, and, and so do I. And everybody could do more. Everybody can work more and it won't kill you.

• 1:13:37Lewis Howes?

Wow. Well, I want people to get this book. You have lots of books.

• 1:13:41Grant Cardone?

Dude, they can get this book free. I'm giving, I'm, I'm giving, I'm giving one million of these books away.

• 1:13:45Lewis Howes?

  You're giving away?

• 1:13:45Grant Cardone?

  One million.

• 1:13:46Lewis Howes?

It's called The Millionaire Booklet, How to Get Super Rich.

• 1:13:48Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:13:49Lewis Howes?

How do they get it then?

• 1:13:50Grant Cardone?

Uh, go to millionairebooklet.com forward slash free.

• 1:13:53Lewis Howes?

  There you go.

• 1:13:54Grant Cardone?

Yeah. I'm gonna give a million of these away. All I ask people to do, they, they'll pay the shipping. Okay? All I ask people to do.

• 1:14:00Lewis Howes?

Couple bucks, couple bucks or something. What's the shipping?

• 1:14:01Grant Cardone?

Whatever shipping is, okay? It's not shipping and handling either. It's just shipping. I got the handling. I'll take care of the handling. You take care of the shipping.

• 1:14:08Lewis Howes?

  Yep.

• 1:14:09Grant Cardone?

Now, if you live in Ethiopia and, and the shipping's $36, dude, I, check with your government. Okay. I, I mean, if it's in Canada and it's $18, that ain't me. Okay. That's your freaking dumbass government that's overcharging you for shipping. All right. But better to pay the shipping and get the book free than pay for the book, but.

• 1:14:28Lewis Howes?

I read that you sent me an early copy.

• 1:14:30Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:30Lewis Howes?

I was at your office and you were like, I had like a PDF printed or something.

• 1:14:34Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:14:34Lewis Howes?

  Before they were printed.

• 1:14:35Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:36Lewis Howes?

And I read it on a flight. I think I was flying to like, I was flying to Argentina.

• 1:14:40Grant Cardone?

That's right. You were going to that, uh.

• 1:14:42Lewis Howes?

  I was playing team handball.

• 1:14:44Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, handball.

• 1:14:45Lewis Howes?

And we were flying from Miami, so I stopped by your place for like an hour before the flight. And I read it and I gave it to a couple of the guys on the team after I was done, because I was like, these kids are not making anything.

• 1:14:54Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:14:54Lewis Howes?

10 bucks an hour or something. I was like, you gotta get, you gotta read this and, uh, it's a game changer, man. Now, even if you feel like.

• 1:15:00Grant Cardone?

  Simple book.

• 1:15:01Lewis Howes?

So simple. What is it? My 50?

• 1:15:02Grant Cardone?

Let me tell you why, let me tell you why I made it like that. Okay. Because I was out, I was out and, and I'd give somebody a book at a conference and they'd be like, dude, I can't, what am I going to do with the book? You know? So I'm like, the next one was like.

• 1:15:14Lewis Howes?

This inspires me. I want to create a little like.

• 1:15:16Grant Cardone?

Damon John, I showed that to Damon John. He's like, dude, that's smart.

• 1:15:19Lewis Howes?

Inspires me. Yes. The Millionaire Booklet, How to Get Super Rich. I mean, you're talking about multiple streams of income. You say you'd have a chapter called Stay Broke, Who's Got My Money?

• 1:15:28Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:15:28Lewis Howes?

How to, a millionaire math, the millionaire decisions, just like everything about making money. The mindset behind it, the process, the steps, it's all in here. I highly recommend you guys.

• 1:15:37Grant Cardone?

Without it being about Wall Street or investing or.

• 1:15:39Lewis Howes?

  Things you can control.

• 1:15:40Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, totally.

• 1:15:41Lewis Howes?

Yeah. Uh, so go get this book, but you've got tons of books, tons of products.

• 1:15:45Grant Cardone?

All I ask for people to do is this with the book. Okay. Buy, get the book. Don't buy it. I'll send it to you. The first million people.

• 1:15:51Lewis Howes?

  Yep.

• 1:15:52Grant Cardone?

If you love it, just, just buy one book for somebody else.

• 1:15:57Lewis Howes?

Do it. Get 10 of them.

• 1:15:59Grant Cardone?

  And, and pay it forward.

• 1:15:59Lewis Howes?

  Yeah, get 10 of them.

• 1:16:00Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:01Lewis Howes?

  You know.

• 1:16:01Grant Cardone?

Then I'll sell a million books at 14 bucks. I'll make 14 million bucks.

• 1:16:04Lewis Howes?

  There you go.

• 1:16:05Grant Cardone?

Kind of smart, but I'm going to help people.

• 1:16:06Lewis Howes?

Yeah. Is it the Millionaire Booklet or Millionaire Booklet?

• 1:16:09Grant Cardone?

  MillionaireBooklet.com.

• 1:16:10Lewis Howes?

  Slash free.

• 1:16:11Grant Cardone?

  Slash, forward slash.

• 1:16:12Lewis Howes?

  Four slash free.

• 1:16:13Grant Cardone?

  Forward.

• 1:16:14Lewis Howes?

Um, and you've got an amazing event.

• 1:16:16Grant Cardone?

You can read it in 20 minutes.

• 1:16:17Lewis Howes?

  Lesson.

• 1:16:18Grant Cardone?

Okay. Now, unless you're Ryan, Captain Ryan, Captain Ryan's with me. It took him two days. He said, dude, it took me two hours to write that book. It took you two days to read it. What's wrong with you?

• 1:16:26Lewis Howes?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:27Grant Cardone?

  Get off the medication.

• 1:16:28Lewis Howes?

  Exactly.

• 1:16:28Grant Cardone?

  Something's wrong with you, man.

• 1:16:30Lewis Howes?

Um, a couple of final questions for you.

• 1:16:56Grant Cardone?

  Please.

• 1:16:57Lewis Howes?

One is called the three truths.

• 1:17:00Grant Cardone?

  Uh oh.

• 1:17:01Lewis Howes?

The three truths. And this is if, um. He's, he's, he's posting it up on.

• 1:17:08Grant Cardone?

  Multi testing.

• 1:17:09Lewis Howes?

  Yes.

• 1:17:09Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:17:10Lewis Howes?

This is, um, the three truths.

• 1:17:12Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:17:13Lewis Howes?

If it was the last day for you right now.

• 1:17:14Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:17:15Lewis Howes?

  And.

• 1:17:16Grant Cardone?

  You made me cry, man.

• 1:17:17Lewis Howes?

All of your work has been.

• 1:17:19Grant Cardone?

Look at that little mistake. I didn't get that nine hundred million.

• 1:17:23Lewis Howes?

Say it's your last day, twenty, fifty years from now.

• 1:17:26Grant Cardone?

  Okay, okay, okay.

• 1:17:26Lewis Howes?

It's your last day, you're a hundred and whatever.

• 1:17:28Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:17:29Lewis Howes?

  You've achieved everything you want.

• 1:17:31Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:17:31Lewis Howes?

The nine hundred million was like a, a, the tiniest little deal you've ever done.

• 1:17:36Grant Cardone?

Right, right, right. That's what we lost. That's what we lose in one day now.

• 1:17:38Lewis Howes?

Exactly. You're doing nine hundred billion dollar deal, right?

• 1:17:40Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:17:41Lewis Howes?

Um, you've written a million books.

• 1:17:43Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:17:44Lewis Howes?

Everything you've done. And for whatever reason, all your information and content is erased.

• 1:17:49Grant Cardone?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:17:49Lewis Howes?

  Gone.

• 1:17:50Grant Cardone?

  Oh, that'd be a problem.

• 1:17:51Lewis Howes?

They don't get the millionaire booklet. They don't get the.

• 1:17:52Grant Cardone?

I didn't put anything on titanium plates.

• 1:17:54Lewis Howes?

Yes. It's all gone for whatever reason.

• 1:17:55Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:17:56Lewis Howes?

  No more.

• 1:17:57Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:17:57Lewis Howes?

  Videos, nothing.

• 1:17:58Grant Cardone?

  No more.

• 1:17:58Lewis Howes?

You have a piece of paper.

• 1:18:00Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:00Lewis Howes?

And a pen to write down three things you know to be true about all of the lessons and experiences you've had in your life. That's the only thing.

• 1:18:07Grant Cardone?

Good question, dude. How'd you come up with this, man?

• 1:18:08Lewis Howes?

I can't remember when I started asking it.

• 1:18:10Grant Cardone?

  Okay.

• 1:18:10Lewis Howes?

But you'd only have three things to share and nothing else they would have to remember you by.

• 1:18:13Grant Cardone?

Yeah. Oh, okay, okay. I thought you were going to go to a different place here. Okay.

• 1:18:16Lewis Howes?

And this is the, this is your message to the world.

• 1:18:18Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:19Lewis Howes?

Three truths. What would you say?

• 1:18:21Grant Cardone?

Oh, man, dude, like, uh, let's see. What would I say, man? I don't know. Um. Dude, make a difference. You know, make a difference for the better. Uh.

• 1:18:34Grant Cardone?

You know, number two, uh, you know, become, become, become the real you.

• 1:18:40Grant Cardone?

You know, and, uh. The real you, meaning all, all the parts of you, you know, no matter how uncomfortable it is. And number three, what would I tell people? Um.

• 1:18:52Grant Cardone?

Dude, go hard all the time. You know? Don't wait till you're in a jam.

• 1:19:00Lewis Howes?

I like it. Those are good truths. Those are good.

• 1:19:02Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:19:02Lewis Howes?

Uh, I want to take a moment to acknowledge you, Grant, for being an incredible beast at everything you do.

• 1:19:08Grant Cardone?

  Thank you, buddy.

• 1:19:09Lewis Howes?

Cause I know you like that. But also for leading the way for so many people who follow you online. I mean, people are scared, afraid.

• 1:19:18Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:19:19Lewis Howes?

They don't have the courage. They don't have the, uh, the steps. They don't have a lot of things they need to get to the next level. And you were providing it by taking action and being an example.

• 1:19:28Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:19:28Lewis Howes?

So many people need to, to recognize the example you're making, whether they love you or hate you or don't like your approach. Do like it, whatever it is.

• 1:19:36Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:19:36Lewis Howes?

You're leading an example of how to get results.

• 1:19:38Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:19:39Lewis Howes?

And you're making a difference and an impact in your team, your community, your family, your church, which I know is important to you in the world. And I think it should be acknowledged that it's a great example for the rest of us to see how we can push forward and be a beast in our own way.

• 1:19:54Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:19:56Lewis Howes?

We're not gonna be the same as you or as aggressive as you, but a way that we can get results that it works for us. So I want to acknowledge you for

• 1:20:01Grant Cardone?

  Thank you, bro.

• 1:20:02Lewis Howes?

Leading the way, for setting the example and for being a great human being.

• 1:20:06Grant Cardone?

Yeah, thank you, man. Appreciate saying that.

• 1:20:07Lewis Howes?

  Of course. Um, final question

• 1:20:10Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:20:11Lewis Howes?

Is what's your definition of greatness?

• 1:20:14Grant Cardone?

Uh, I think it would be, you know, very similar to what, what, how I would define success, you know, just continuing to reach for your full potential. You know, you, you're the only one that knows it. You know, my mom used to tell me, I'd tell my mom, I'm gonna go do this deal and I'm gonna do this deal. I was all excited. She'd be the first person I would call. And she'd be like, well, Grant, that's great, but you know, I love you just the way you are. And I'd hang up and I'd be like, yeah, but I don't. I want to reach my full potential. You know, that, that, that is, I think the great people, I think about all the great people. Dude, they were always reaching for more. They were never satisfied. You know, so when people are like, oh, when are you ever going to be satisfied? Dude, the great ones are never satisfied.

• 1:20:59Grant Cardone?

Okay, it's, it's the mediocre people that have some box called satisfaction. And they're going to somehow get the house or the cars. The great guys, the great ones, Jesus Christ wouldn't have been satisfied, man. Muhammad wouldn't have been satisfied. He wanted to get his message out to everybody, right? The Jehovah Witness, they're like, I'm not satisfied. I'm knocking on another door. You know, make fun of them. Probably, probably the same thing could be said for those, whoever that has this unbelievable commitment to, to, to get their message out or their word or what they believe in.

• 1:21:37Grant Cardone?

You know, I think, I think those people are seeking their full potential.

• 1:21:39Lewis Howes?

Yeah, awesome. Grant Cardone, my man. Thanks so much, man. Appreciate you.
