• 1:08Speaker 04

That's inaccurate. She spends a lot of money. You're totally just going with this?

• 1:11Speaker 03

Well, I just like, I don't know, he's just the man of the house.

• 1:45Speaker 03

  Hi, I'm Cassie. I'm 29 years old.

• 1:47Speaker 04

Hi, I'm Andre. I'm 33 years old and we're from Oklahoma.

• 1:49Speaker 03

  And this is Financial Audit.

• 1:53Caleb Hammer?

Thanks for coming down to Austin, guys. What do you do for a living in Oklahoma? Cassie, you're the one in front of me, so we'll start with you.

• 1:59Speaker 03

I work at a child development center.

• 2:00Caleb Hammer?

Very good. What do you do?

• 2:02Speaker 03

I work with one-year-olds specifically, just-

• 2:04Caleb Hammer?

  What's your job?

• 2:05Speaker 03

  It's like a daycare.

• 2:06Caleb Hammer?

Now, what's your job? Is there a title?

• 2:10Speaker 03

Program assistant. So basically, I just handle lesson plans and-

• 2:13Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 2:14Speaker 03

  Supervising children.

• 2:16Caleb Hammer?

  Cool. What do you make?

• 2:17Speaker 03

  Um, twenty-two an hour.

• 2:20Caleb Hammer?

How many hours a week are you?

• 2:21Speaker 03

  Thirty-five.

• 2:23Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so what's hitting the account from your pay on a monthly, bi-weekly, whatever basis that you are tracking?

• 2:30Speaker 03

Um, it's around a thousand. Sometimes it bounced-

• 2:33Caleb Hammer?

  A thousand per-

• 2:35Speaker 03

  Two weeks.

• 2:36Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so two thousand bucks hits a month?

• 2:38Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 2:39Caleb Hammer?

Does that sound right, Mr. Andre?

• 2:40Speaker 04

Yeah, it's between nine fifty on the low end and ten seventy on the high end.

• 2:44Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so we'll say a thousand. Andre, what are you doing?

• 2:47Speaker 04

Uh, I'm a maintenance engineer, I believe is the job title.

• 2:51Caleb Hammer?

  Cool. What are you making?

• 2:52Speaker 04

Uh, twenty-two eighty-one an hour, so-

• 2:54Caleb Hammer?

  How many hours?

• 2:55Speaker 04

  Forty.

• 2:56Caleb Hammer?

  Good.

• 2:56Speaker 04

Uh, it comes out to about thirteen hundred every two weeks, so twenty-six hundred a month.

• 3:01Caleb Hammer?

And that's a net. We're talking net. This is what's hitting the account for both, right?

• 3:04Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 3:04Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 3:05Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so twenty-six hundred. So at this point, you know, we're looking four thousand six hundred as far as the total household income. Uh, you know, yeah, or fifty-five thousand two hundred. You're around like the median US household if we're talking net. Oh, sorry, go on.

• 3:20Speaker 04

We also have tenants, roommates that pay us rent.

• 3:23Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 3:23Caleb Hammer?

Okay, but that's just, we're gonna calculate that against your rent, I guess. No, I mean, okay, well, sure, what do they pay?

• 3:30Speaker 04

Um, four fifty. It just went up because our-

• 3:34Caleb Hammer?

  Do you guys own?

• 3:34Speaker 04

It's a whole thing. Yeah, yeah, we're paying a mortgage on the house, so they pay four fifty a paycheck because they don't want to pay one lump sum, but it's nine hundred a month. That's all utilities, groceries.

• 3:44Caleb Hammer?

So we're house hacking. And if we're house hacking, that means one of the largest things that's typically our overhead on a monthly basis-

• 3:52Caleb Hammer?

Wouldn't be impacting us as much, meaning

• 3:54Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 3:55Caleb Hammer?

Why are we struggling would be my immediate question, but before we do again, you are in like that median household income in the United States, Oklahoma, cheaper state for sure. How we doing?

• 4:06Speaker 04

  Uh.

• 4:08Caleb Hammer?

  What?

• 4:09Speaker 04

Day to day, I, I don't know. I always have the philosophy of like, we're fine. Cause we're not.

• 4:15Speaker 03

  We're fine until we're not.

• 4:16Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, fine until we're not. When's not? Do we hit not?

• 4:18Speaker 04

All of our monthlies get paid, but there's no wiggle room past that. There's no emergency fund. There's no.

• 4:24Caleb Hammer?

Do they all get paid on time?

• 4:25Speaker 04

  Unless we forget.

• 4:26Speaker 03

  Yeah, for the most part.

• 4:27Caleb Hammer?

  Why would we forget?

• 4:28Speaker 04

Cause I don't do auto pay. Cause.

• 4:31Caleb Hammer?

  You don't do auto pay?

• 4:32Speaker 04

  No.

• 4:33Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 4:34Speaker 04

Oh, man. Uh, I honestly don't have a good answer. Uh.

• 4:38Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 4:40Speaker 04

It's a terrifying thing. Auto pay is terrifying. Cause what if the auto pays two days before my paycheck? Like I said, we're paycheck to paycheck. Like we're fine, but we're not.

• 4:49Caleb Hammer?

Why are you paycheck to paycheck?

• 4:51Speaker 04

Because, uh, she spends a lot of money. I spend a lot of money on her, but still spend it. So it's.

• 4:59Caleb Hammer?

Thoughts on that? Cause that's a heavy thing to throw out.

• 5:02Speaker 03

  Money too, but.

• 5:03Caleb Hammer?

Why, why you throw it right to her then?

• 5:05Speaker 04

Cause she was the majority of our spending for most of our relationship.

• 5:11Caleb Hammer?

Well, how long's our relationship? Are we married?

• 5:12Speaker 04

Yeah. Married since 21, together since, uh, end of 19.

• 5:17Caleb Hammer?

So are we saying all throughout that you, she's been spending the money?

• 5:20Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 5:23Caleb Hammer?

  She's saying no.

• 5:24Speaker 04

  I mean.

• 5:25Caleb Hammer?

Well, tell, I need the full story here. Tell.

• 5:27Speaker 03

I mean, I don't think I would, I would say I would spend most of the money. I just, he spends a lot of money on stupid stuff too, but I just like to live for like, I don't know. I like to go big and go home. I like to do all the fun stuff. So.

• 5:41Caleb Hammer?

What does that look like? What is that?

• 5:45Speaker 04

A lot of Starbucks, a lot of fast food, a lot of gas.

• 5:48Caleb Hammer?

That's go bigger going home is Starbucks fast food.

• 5:50Speaker 04

Whenever. She always needs the newest, biggest electronics constantly and I facilitate it.

• 5:58Caleb Hammer?

You know, as big as electronics are not cheap.

• 6:00Speaker 04

  Oh, I'm aware.

• 6:01Caleb Hammer?

I don't know what you're considering to be the newest and biggest electronics. Okay.

• 6:07Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 6:08Caleb Hammer?

And what is our relationship around money as a household if we're immediately throwing with the, oh, she spends all the money and she's like, well, she, he spends money too. So I don't know why I'm saying that. What the is the relationship of money in this household?

• 6:21Speaker 04

Uh, separated for most of our marriage until about two months ago.

• 6:25Caleb Hammer?

  I mean, more the communication.

• 6:27Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 6:28Speaker 04

Oh, none. She says she wants a thing and I make it happen.

• 6:31Caleb Hammer?

Why then? If you're, if you, you sound like you're having an issue with it, why are you make it happen?

• 6:35Speaker 04

Uh, I didn't have an issue with it until now because we're expecting a baby. So it's, it's becoming a problem.

• 6:42Caleb Hammer?

  First?

• 6:43Speaker 04

First together. I have two from a previous.

• 6:45Speaker 03

  It's my first baby.

• 6:46Caleb Hammer?

  How old are those?

• 6:47Speaker 04

  Uh, 13 and 10.

• 6:49Caleb Hammer?

  A kid's coming, huh?

• 6:51Speaker 04

Yeah. So that's the kind of driving.

• 6:53Caleb Hammer?

How many months pregnant are you?

• 6:54Speaker 03

  I'm due next month.

• 6:55Caleb Hammer?

  Oh.

• 6:57Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 6:58Caleb Hammer?

And now you're like, yo, stop with one month to go?

• 7:02Speaker 04

Well, the yo stop started a little while ago and um, it's just now become a forceful effort.

• 7:09Caleb Hammer?

  Tell me, how's that looking?

• 7:10Speaker 03

It's a bad habit to make.

• 7:11Speaker 04

I made us get a joint bank account. I, I say made, she was willing, but I made us get a joint bank account and now everything is paid out of the joint bank account. And then what's left, I move to her account. So she has a spending amount each paycheck.

• 7:25Caleb Hammer?

  An allowance?

• 7:26Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 7:27Caleb Hammer?

You're giving an, does that come in from her pay as well?

• 7:31Speaker 04

  Um.

• 7:32Caleb Hammer?

  Then if it's joint?

• 7:33Speaker 04

No, the pay is askew. So when it all goes into the one account, whatever's left, I just give it to her because I don't really need spending.

• 7:41Caleb Hammer?

Into the one account, both paychecks are hitting.

• 7:43Speaker 04

  Mm hmm.

• 7:43Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 7:44Caleb Hammer?

  Both y'all.

• 7:44Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 7:45Caleb Hammer?

And then you give her money from that?

• 7:47Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 7:48Speaker 03

  Into my.

• 7:48Caleb Hammer?

You're giving an allowance. You're about to be a mother of a child and you're being given an allowance. How does that feel? What the is going on? That's weird.

• 7:58Speaker 03

I mean, and sometimes I feel bad because sometimes I feel like he overspends out of our personal account and then like he needs to borrow money from me to like pay for.

• 8:09Speaker 03

Whatever, gas, or, you know, whatever he needs.

• 8:13Speaker 04

  That's inaccurate.

• 8:15Caleb Hammer?

  What?

• 8:16Speaker 04

She is never, in the last three years, maybe she has not swiped her card for me from once.

• 8:21Speaker 03

But I feel like sometimes I have to, but.

• 8:24Speaker 04

But I don't let you. It's been a fight in the past.

• 8:28Caleb Hammer?

How does it feel like that then? I'm confused. I'm confused how this is actually working if you don't swipe.

• 8:34Speaker 03

Like, I just feel like I have to keep it. Like, I can't spend it on, I can't spend it on stuff that I want to spend it on, because I feel like if I don't have it, we're gonna need it.

• 8:41Caleb Hammer?

But he's saying in the last three years, you haven't needed it?

• 8:44Speaker 03

Yeah, I just, in my, in my head, I'm like, always afraid that we're gonna need it, so I'd rather just, like, feel like I can't spend it, and then I always end up spending it all anyway.

• 8:52Speaker 04

I can tell you how it goes. She saves the money in case I need her to spend it on my stuff, and then when we're three days from payday, she blows it all on her stuff, because she's like, oh, he's good.

• 9:01Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 9:02Speaker 04

But that's, I don't know how her brain works, but that's how she enacts it every paycheck since the onup time.

• 9:10Caleb Hammer?

Okay. Is that why we've allocated an allowance? What was the decision around the allowance?

• 9:16Speaker 04

So, the allowance was, hopefully it will keep her from just swiping the joint account card constantly, if she can go to her own account and.

• 9:25Caleb Hammer?

Wait, was she just swiping the joint account?

• 9:28Speaker 04

  No.

• 9:28Caleb Hammer?

Were you just going out there blowing money?

• 9:30Speaker 04

No, the allowance has been since the joint account started, so she has not been swiping on the joint account.

• 9:34Caleb Hammer?

Well, so the fear was based on?

• 9:37Speaker 03

Like, before, when we got paid, obviously, the money would go into my personal account, and then I would just pay whatever bills he told me to pay, and then I would just, I would just have the rest of the money to just blow on whatever I wanted, so like.

• 9:49Speaker 04

Yeah, so I had her covering only three of the bills, and then everything else would come out of my account, and then with the baby and everything, I just decided the joint account, because we need to build.

• 10:00Caleb Hammer?

You're totally just going with this? Like, do you want to go with this? I'm confused.

• 10:04Speaker 03

Well, I just, like, I don't know, he's just the man of the house role. I just kind of.

• 10:08Caleb Hammer?

  We're tradding it up?

• 10:10Speaker 03

Yeah, I'm just, I mean, we, we, we try to do it. We try to do a joint bank account before, like when we first got together.

• 10:16Caleb Hammer?

  And before marriage? Um, yeah.

• 10:19Speaker 04

  Immediately after.

• 10:20Speaker 03

Yeah, shortly, like right after we got married.

• 10:21Caleb Hammer?

  What happened?

• 10:22Speaker 04

Oh, that went great. Caleb, that was.

• 10:24Caleb Hammer?

Why, what, what's gonna be different this time? What?

• 10:27Speaker 04

Uh, so when I started this job, well, this place I'm working, not the job specifically, um, she left her old job to move to a less stressful job and she cashed out her 401k and, uh,

• 10:42Speaker 03

I, I didn't know you could take it with you.

• 10:44Caleb Hammer?

You mean to roll it over?

• 10:46Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 10:46Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah. She, um, she cashed it out and she didn't trust herself with it. It was like $4,000 ish. So she gave it to me to put in a savings account. And then the next day we got paid and I went and got lunch for both of us and brought it home and she freaked out and we had a whole fight because she thought I used her 401k money for it.

• 11:04Caleb Hammer?

  Did you?

• 11:05Speaker 04

No, like it was my paycheck. So I just gave it back and said I didn't want to deal with it and we.

• 11:09Caleb Hammer?

And then we just stopped the joint accounts?

• 11:11Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 11:12Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but what's gonna stop that very same thing from happening? How often do you guys fight about money now?

• 11:17Speaker 03

Uh, I mean, I wouldn't say we fight, but I mean, it's a, it's a topic of conversation that gets brought up.

• 11:23Speaker 04

Our whole, our whole existence is, uh, bickering, like in, like even our sense of humor. It's what we do.

• 11:29Speaker 03

Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't say that we're like fighting tooth and nail.

• 11:31Caleb Hammer?

Okay, but if you weren't able to healthily have the joint account before and it completely blew up in our faces, what's gonna be different this time? If you guys are not communicating in a more healthy or effective manner, it seems though.

• 11:43Speaker 04

So, so now we talk about purchases at least. Back then we didn't, so.

• 11:47Caleb Hammer?

So like every single lunch, every single little taquito at the gas station is discussed?

• 11:51Speaker 04

  Not every single one, but.

• 11:52Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so what's gonna prevent that then again? Cause you bought lunch and it blew up and we had to split a joint checking just because of a lunch?

• 11:59Speaker 04

That's my main thought behind the allowance is if she has the money, I know.

• 12:04Caleb Hammer?

  And I'm 29.

• 12:06Speaker 03

I've toned down a lot too. So like before we got together, I would like, he says I kind of catfished him because I was always like doing stuff. I'm always like.

• 12:15Speaker 04

  Financially.

• 12:15Speaker 03

Going to anime conventions or cosplaying or blowing all this money on, you know. Big ticket items like my electronics and stuff and he thought I had money because I had a really good paying job where I was gonna pay commissions, but in reality, I was recycling payday loans?

• 12:31Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 12:32Caleb Hammer?

  No.

• 12:33Speaker 04

  Yeah, for years.

• 12:35Speaker 03

So he's like, I stopped that habit.

• 12:37Caleb Hammer?

Wait, in the relationship for years?

• 12:39Speaker 04

  No, before.

• 12:40Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 12:40Caleb Hammer?

Is there a trust issue here because of this past?

• 12:43Speaker 04

So there would be, I'll be honest. I would not trust it and I would assume she's taking loans and whatnot, but uh, she couldn't get approved for one if she tried now.

• 12:52Speaker 03

  Yeah, my credit's trashed.

• 12:53Speaker 04

It kinda removes the factor of me having.

• 12:55Caleb Hammer?

It's still the spending. It's still the spending that was an issue that got her into the payday loan cycle.

• 13:01Speaker 03

Yeah, I would go take out loans of like $2,000 and then just.

• 13:04Caleb Hammer?

So do you feel the allowance is appropriate then?

• 13:06Speaker 03

Like, I definitely, I definitely think I need help with, with it. It's like a spending problem, like an addiction, I guess.

• 13:12Caleb Hammer?

Why aren't you working on it? Why aren't you guys sitting down and budgeting? Why aren't you trying to put in any effort instead of having to be treated like a baby?

• 13:18Speaker 03

I don't know, because I don't really want to put the effort. I'd rather just be told.

• 13:21Caleb Hammer?

You're about to be a mother!

• 13:22Speaker 03

  What to do.

• 13:23Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 13:23Caleb Hammer?

You're about to be a mother.

• 13:25Speaker 04

I would like it to be collaborative because I do sit down and I make a budget and then I try to tell her and she's like, "Yeah, do whatever." That's not a conversation though. I would like it to be a conversation, but.

I am just a little taken back from the beginning though, where it's like you immediately came out of the gate blaming her for the, you know, spending a lot of bull, but she says you spend a lot of shit too, like, well, why do we? Then what the was that coming in just punching?

• 14:15Speaker 04

Well, so I didn't for a long time. Like I, uh, when we.

• 14:19Caleb Hammer?

But you do, do you not?

• 14:20Speaker 04

  Now, yes.

• 14:21Caleb Hammer?

  So I don't give a, why would I care what you've done?

• 14:24Speaker 04

Well, I'm just trying to get my past out there. Part of life, I mean.

• 14:29Caleb Hammer?

  Huh?

• 14:29Speaker 04

It's part of life, my past. I mean, it needs to be brought up.

• 14:32Caleb Hammer?

If it was mistakes you're making that you learned from, sure, but you were doing well in the past. It's like, yeah, but you're doing now, so. Okay.

• 14:40Speaker 04

Yeah, I, I make bad decisions now. Uh, I mean, I've always made.

• 14:44Caleb Hammer?

Then why are you trying to throw her under the bus out of the gate?

• 14:48Speaker 04

Because my purchases are smaller increments. I'm, I'm sure it adds up to around the same, so I'm to blame too, but it's smaller increments.

• 14:55Caleb Hammer?

He doesn't. What, what are we getting?

• 14:56Speaker 03

  He doesn't see the purchase.

• 14:57Speaker 04

A lot of energy drinks and nicotine and.

• 15:01Caleb Hammer?

  Nicotine?

• 15:02Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 15:02Caleb Hammer?

  In what form?

• 15:03Speaker 04

  The cigarettes, the best kind.

• 15:05Caleb Hammer?

You're, you're about to be a father of three now.

• 15:07Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 15:08Caleb Hammer?

Don't you want to stick around?

• 15:09Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 15:10Caleb Hammer?

You're in your thirties, you're, you are obese, morbidly potentially.

• 15:13Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah, it was worse, but.

• 15:15Caleb Hammer?

Well, good. I'm glad it's at least gotten better, but I want you to be around. If we're mixing up destroying our lungs with also destroying our body. Well, is he, is he gonna be here?

• 15:27Speaker 03

  I'd hope so.

• 15:28Caleb Hammer?

Energy drinks with his heart, honestly? Like, I don't know what's consumed. How many milligrams of caffeine are consumed a day?

• 15:36Speaker 03

Those are like two twenty, so.

• 15:37Caleb Hammer?

  About two hundred.

• 15:38Speaker 03

  He drinks like at least.

• 15:39Speaker 04

Four hundred a day. I drink two a day. Don't exaggerate.

• 15:41Caleb Hammer?

Okay, four hundred is the cap that's recommended.

• 15:44Speaker 04

Yeah, I drink, I drink two a day, ghosts.

• 15:46Caleb Hammer?

Okay, but that's like the cap cast that's recommended.

• 15:49Speaker 03

But then he also drinks, he also drinks soda too, which also has caffeine in it.

• 15:52Caleb Hammer?

It has caffeine. It's like thirty, forty milligrams per can.

• 15:55Speaker 04

  I drink Diet Coke, yeah.

• 15:56Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah. How many a day?

• 15:59Speaker 03

So, in our grocery order, in our grocery order, I buy four twenty-four packs to get us through two weeks. And he's usually.

• 16:06Speaker 04

So I have, I have three at home and then I take one to work. Um.

• 16:09Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so you're well, you're at like five hundred.

• 16:11Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah, um.

• 16:13Caleb Hammer?

Like, you're already, again, we're killing our, now we've killing our body in three ways.

• 16:16Speaker 04

Yeah. Well, so I've tried to quit cigarettes in the past and, uh.

• 16:20Caleb Hammer?

  It's hard.

• 16:20Speaker 04

Yeah. Oh, yeah, no, I've been smoking since I was thirteen.

• 16:23Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, that's not good.

• 16:24Speaker 04

Yeah, oh, yeah, no, definitely not. I, I agree with that.

• 16:27Caleb Hammer?

Can't we at least switch the vapes? Like, we, there's.

• 16:30Speaker 04

So I can have a collapsed lung? There's risks on both sides.

• 16:32Caleb Hammer?

There are, but it is objectively better.

• 16:35Speaker 04

So I, I am thinking about it, but it's.

• 16:38Caleb Hammer?

  Like it, but all.

• 16:39Speaker 04

It's in progress. I'll, I'll say that. I, I do want to quit before.

• 16:43Caleb Hammer?

I mean, I'd rather you get the pouches regardless. I'd rather you just stop.

• 16:46Speaker 04

  I would too.

• 16:46Caleb Hammer?

But if you're, but if we're struggling and we're struggling and we're struggling and we're preventing, I would rather at least get like a little bit of a. You know, a little thing going.

• 16:55Speaker 04

Yeah, um, I'll, I can look into that. I'm sure you hear that way too much.

• 17:00Caleb Hammer?

Three hundred dollars a month on cigs, I'm being told, and which is crazy. So you're throwing her onto the bus? Like, what are we doing?

• 17:05Speaker 04

That's what I was saying. My purchases seem smaller, but over time they're bigger. I'm, I'm aware of that, but hers are abrasive and upfront.

• 17:12Caleb Hammer?

Long-term addiction. You say you're starting bad spending now? I highly doubt that's true if we've been smoking.

• 17:16Speaker 04

I mean, I, so I recently started spending on not cigarettes badly.

• 17:20Speaker 03

Yeah, he, so he doesn't, he-

• 17:21Caleb Hammer?

Oh, this is addition to that?

• 17:23Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 17:23Speaker 03

He doesn't go out and buy big ticketed items often, but he sees like the cigarettes and the soda and the energy drinks as like his luxury purchases.

• 17:32Caleb Hammer?

Where are we? Where are we in terms of how many packs a day?

• 17:35Speaker 04

When it was stressful last year, I was at two a day, but now I'm down to one. And I've been, I've been decreasing it.

• 17:42Caleb Hammer?

  That's so expensive.

• 17:44Speaker 03

He tells me one and a half.

• 17:46Speaker 04

Yeah, cuz I averaged for bad days when, when it's, I don't, I don't wanna justify, but I do wanna justify.

• 17:54Caleb Hammer?

I'm confused though. You're not answering my question. Why did you throw her under the bus? I mean, what is like your mentality that you immediately threw her under the bus?

• 18:01Speaker 04

Her big purchases are more frequent than mine.

• 18:06Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 18:06Speaker 04

And I would like to say we can agree on that at least.

• 18:09Speaker 03

I would probably say there's at least one big ticketed item I'd like to try to buy once a month, whether I can or not.

• 18:14Caleb Hammer?

How much is a big ticket item? What are we considering a big ticket item? Give me an example of a big ticket item.

• 18:19Speaker 04

  Nintendo Switches.

• 18:21Caleb Hammer?

Ah, the new one? Switch two? What is that, like five?

• 18:24Speaker 04

No, that was almost a domestic. That didn't happen.

• 18:30Caleb Hammer?

  That was almost a domestic.

• 18:31Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 18:33Speaker 03

  But, I mean-

• 18:33Speaker 04

But she's had a lot of switches.

• 18:35Speaker 03

I haven't bought any more switches. I've bought two.

• 18:37Speaker 04

She bought a lot, no, two, two is a lie. Two is a lie.

• 18:41Caleb Hammer?

Why the would you have two switches?

• 18:42Speaker 04

So she got a credit card for GameStop specifically to get a Switch Lite.

• 18:45Speaker 03

  I got the Switch Lite.

• 18:46Speaker 04

She had the Switch Lite for a week, hated it, upgraded to a Switch.

• 18:50Caleb Hammer?

  When did you return?

• 18:51Speaker 03

  I-

• 18:52Speaker 04

She did, but you had to pay extra on top cuz the light is cheap. And then, no, hold on, no, don't, don't do that yet. Give me a minute. And then two weeks later, she wanted the OLED. So she traded in her Switch for an OLED.

• 19:05Speaker 03

  Because I'm like, if it's, I-

• 19:07Caleb Hammer?

  Dude, why?

• 19:08Speaker 03

Cuz if I'm gonna spend the money, I'd rather get the, the best one.

• 19:10Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but you don't have money. You have a kid coming. For sake.

• 19:16Caleb Hammer?

Guys, how much was spent on just going out to eat last month?

• 19:19Speaker 04

  Oh.

• 19:20Caleb Hammer?

Just going out to eat alone.

• 19:21Speaker 04

This is a fun game of Guess Who.

• 19:23Speaker 03

  I don't keep track. I couldn't tell you.

• 19:25Caleb Hammer?

What do you think? You're out there swiping. What do you think it all stacks to?

• 19:28Speaker 04

Four hundred to five hundred? If I had to guess?

• 19:31Speaker 03

  I would have.

• 19:32Caleb Hammer?

  If you had to guess?

• 19:33Speaker 03

I'd have no idea. Like, together or just like individually?

• 19:35Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah, it's the whole thing.

• 19:36Speaker 04

All of our finances. So that's why I said four to five hundred.

• 19:39Speaker 03

  I don't know. I don't think it's that high. I mean, I don't feel like I eat out on my own.

• 19:45Caleb Hammer?

  Eight hundred eight dollars.

• 19:46Speaker 04

  Yeah, I was.

• 19:47Caleb Hammer?

Miss Lainey's shit alone on top of it, extra shit could be a video game. Five hundred seventy-four dollars. Unknown shopping, by the way, because it's impossible to know what it is without us looking at the statements. Could be Walmart, could be Amazon, could be bullshit, could be good, we don't know. One thousand five hundred eleven dollars. We know what hits our account, guys. We know what hits the account. Uh, payroll, four thousand two hundred ninety-five. We also had cash advance payout over the thousand. Okay, great. Great.

• 20:16Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 20:16Caleb Hammer?

Great. Great. Well, we'll get into that. Fantastic. Also, Cash App in. Well, it's coming in from Cash App or is it just?

• 20:22Speaker 04

  The roommate.

• 20:23Speaker 03

  The roommate's rent.

• 20:24Caleb Hammer?

  So income.

• 20:25Speaker 04

  And eBay.

• 20:25Caleb Hammer?

So we'll. Okay, so with PayPal, Cash App, and payroll, I'll combine that to about four thousand two hundred. What was spent?

• 20:39Caleb Hammer?

As the household combined? What was spent?

• 20:42Speaker 04

  Five point eight.

• 20:44Caleb Hammer?

Five thousand two hundred. Oh, five thousand eight hundred, okay.

• 20:47Speaker 03

I was like, I have no idea.

• 20:48Caleb Hammer?

Dude, some kind of guess, just based on what you're experiencing. Just based on what you're experiencing.

• 20:54Speaker 03

I just know what I spend. I don't know, like.

• 20:56Caleb Hammer?

Just based on what you're experiencing as the household, this is what I'm trying to see what you would think the household is at, based on your observation. I know you're not going to have the correct answer. That's fine. No one is, down to the dollar, for sure. But what do you think, based on what you are observing?

• 21:10Speaker 03

Like, all of it, because we don't have anything left over. So like, the whole five thousand.

• 21:13Caleb Hammer?

Okay, five thousand two hundred, whatever. Okay, great. Nine thousand four hundred thirty-one dollars. We have a child coming in a month. What the fuck are we doing? What the fuck are we doing?

• 21:24Speaker 04

  Suffering.

• 21:26Caleb Hammer?

  Huh?

• 21:26Speaker 04

  Suffering, it's, uh, struggling.

• 21:29Caleb Hammer?

  By choice.

• 21:30Speaker 04

  Yeah, accurate.

• 21:31Caleb Hammer?

By choice, which means all of a sudden, uh-oh, the kid suffers. You know how that works, right?

• 21:36Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 21:37Speaker 04

  What are the odds?

• 21:37Caleb Hammer?

  That's acceptable?

• 21:38Speaker 04

What are the odds I could go outside for a minute?

• 21:44Caleb Hammer?

Budgeting used to mean spreadsheets, highlighters and pretending I'd stop eating out. And spoiler, I didn't. But then I started using Rocket Money. Today's sponsor, Rocket Money, is the personal finance app that makes budgeting actually doable. It connects your accounts and automatically breaks down your spending by category, by merchant, all of it. So now I know exactly where my money's going, like $142 of gas station snacks. Don't judge me. You can set custom budgets for everything, groceries, dining out, and the suspicious miscellaneous category. Rocket Money even sends you alerts before you go over the budget when your balance is low, which saves you from surprise overdraft fees. And if you're trying to build better habits, the app gives you insights and trends to help you stay on track. Take control of your finances today.

• 22:32Speaker 04

I can neither confirm nor deny.

• 22:34Caleb Hammer?

No, dude, sit the [__] down. I'm filming an episode here.

• 22:37Speaker 04

  Okay, alright, fair enough.

• 22:38Caleb Hammer?

Get you a little sickness, it happens. I don't give a [__]. We have a child coming and we immediately deflect to trying to go smoke a cig. Thank you, that's appreciated. Oh my death. Total debt $168,000, but bad debt alone, interest accruing bad debt is $61,130. We have a mortgage of 96, but we also have student loans on top of that of $8,000, then collections of $2,588. This household is [__]. This household's a mess. And we have a kid coming and two that are already here. What's the custody situation of the two?

• 23:11Speaker 04

Um, they live with their mother and I get them for every school break.

• 23:15Caleb Hammer?

Do you have child support? That must go out. Why?

• 23:19Speaker 03

They have a very healthy relationship.

• 23:21Speaker 04

  Yeah, we're-

• 23:21Caleb Hammer?

Great, but she's taking care of them 100%. Why would you not?

• 23:24Speaker 04

So I pay for all their school stuff, all their school activities, like sports, all that.

• 23:28Caleb Hammer?

What is that, like a couple hundred bucks a month?

• 23:31Speaker 04

  Yeah, I mean, I cover-

• 23:32Caleb Hammer?

Come on, child support for you would be like, at least five.

• 23:37Speaker 04

Uh, yeah, I'm paying about that on average. It's just, it doesn't go.

• 23:41Caleb Hammer?

  You wouldn't know.

• 23:42Speaker 04

  But.

• 23:43Speaker 03

  Yeah, I mean, I know.

• 23:44Speaker 04

No, she knows. She's closer to their mom than I am.

• 23:46Speaker 03

Whenever she's like, hey, she called. They need this and like.

• 23:49Speaker 04

Yeah, it's just sporadic. It's not like scheduled payments.

• 23:51Caleb Hammer?

What's their income situation for their house?

• 23:53Speaker 04

Not good. Um, I don't, I don't get told specifically. I just told her if she ever needs money for the kids, let me know.

• 24:00Caleb Hammer?

Then we have another one that's coming in and then we're spending literally double, not double, but close to double what we're making. Our bad debt situation is insane at like sixty-five, no, no, no, like seventy thousand dollars. No, seventy-two thousand dollars of bad debt.

• 24:16Speaker 03

Hey, the one silver lining is I get free childcare, so I don't pay for daycare when she's here. So.

• 24:20Caleb Hammer?

  Yippee.

• 24:21Speaker 04

  Right. It's, it's expensive.

• 24:23Caleb Hammer?

It is expensive. I'm glad you do, but silver lining out of everything. Your kid's gonna need a lot more than just childcare. I don't know if you guys know this, including you retiring, so they don't have to take care of you, which brings me to, I'm trying to find how much retirement you have, but I don't even see a retirement on here.

• 24:38Speaker 04

So I don't know how to get a, so I work for a government installation. I have retirement, I have two retirements, a 401k and an air force retirement.

• 24:47Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 24:48Speaker 04

But they only send one statement a year of what's in it.

• 24:51Caleb Hammer?

  Are you on military disability?

• 24:52Speaker 04

No. No, if you work on a government installation, you can get air force retirement, but you put into it.

• 25:00Caleb Hammer?

You were not in the military.

• 25:00Speaker 04

  No, no.

• 25:03Speaker 04

  So I, I know what's in, but I can't.

• 25:05Caleb Hammer?

  What's in?

• 25:05Speaker 04

So I have in 401k about eighteen thousand and then in air force retirement about twelve thousand. So thirty total-ish.

• 25:12Caleb Hammer?

Thirty, definitely behind for your age and for combining that as a household, because you have nothing now, right?

• 25:18Speaker 03

Well, no, I have less than two thousand, because I just started.

• 25:21Caleb Hammer?

We are dramatically behind, which also gets put on your kid when you come and you're not able to take care of your life, especially in our health situation. It's like. You will be out of the workforce earlier on a necessity.

• 25:34Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 25:35Caleb Hammer?

And your kid will have to put their life on hold to support you based on the choices you made. Choices you made. The kid did not choose to come in this world, but they will feel morally obligated to take care of you. They did not consent to it.

• 25:46Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 25:47Caleb Hammer?

  You're putting it on.

• 25:48Speaker 04

On a lot of stuff, but not that. Yeah, that's accurate.

• 25:51Caleb Hammer?

All right. I'm gonna, we gotta get into these finances, because this is a

• 25:57Caleb Hammer?

Oh, this is an insane amount of paperwork.

• 26:00Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 26:00Caleb Hammer?

But I'm gonna go three, two, one, go on. Hmm. I want you guys to give me your, what you think your entire household financial score is. Zero to 10, zero being the worst, 10 being the best. What do you think it is? Three, two, one.

• 26:15Speaker 04

  One.

• 26:17Caleb Hammer?

Why do you think it's possibly middle down the road? Why does she think it's middle down the road?

• 26:21Speaker 04

To be fair, she doesn't know what your financial scores are based off of, and I do, so I

• 26:26Caleb Hammer?

But like 10 being the absolute best, 0 being the absolute worst, you think you, you think you're middle of the road?

• 26:30Speaker 04

  I think

• 26:31Caleb Hammer?

I mean, I You did, you hear the numbers I just went over?

• 26:34Speaker 03

  I mean

• 26:34Caleb Hammer?

What do you have going for you?

• 26:36Speaker 03

Like, we pay our bills every month, so I mean

• 26:38Caleb Hammer?

Do you? There will be no late payments as they go through this, and I don't know. I don't know. I have not been through

• 26:45Speaker 04

I'm, I'm pretty sure there will be.

• 26:46Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so is that we pay our bills? Sure, it's not on time.

• 26:50Speaker 03

I think they're on time. I think we pay them on time.

• 26:52Caleb Hammer?

  He just

• 26:54Speaker 05

This episode is brought to you by Google Chrome. You think you know a browser, but Gemini and Chrome, that's new. • 27:19Caleb Hammer?

He's, he's literally just saying he thinks there's gonna be late payments in there, but what the fuck are you talking about?

• 27:23Speaker 03

Um, I don't know. I know the ones I paid were on time, so.

• 27:26Caleb Hammer?

What is she responsible for paying?

• 27:28Speaker 04

Uh, car insurance, which doesn't have a late fee, um, or a, a due date. It's like mile-wise, it's pay-as-you-go kind of, you, this whole thing.

• 27:38Speaker 03

  Yeah, I just put my

• 27:38Speaker 04

  And then groceries and

• 27:41Caleb Hammer?

You don't have groceries on time. You can't be late on groceries.

• 27:44Speaker 04

The electric. Electric is the only one. Yeah, she has two that could have a late fee, and I'm pretty sure the phone bill was late last month.

• 27:52Speaker 03

Yeah, now that, yeah, I forgot that I paid that one.

• 27:54Caleb Hammer?

  What the

• 27:55Speaker 04

That's why I was making the faces. I was like, no, it's even yours are gonna have some late.

• 28:00Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 28:01Speaker 03

Uh, cuz I needed, I wanted to cash float money. So I paid like half of it and then waited till the next paycheck to pay half of it.

• 28:06Caleb Hammer?

Why do you think you do not owe it on the date that it's owed?

• 28:10Speaker 03

We need, well, we needed the extra money for I can't remember what it was now, but to have to get us through to that next pay period.

• 28:16Caleb Hammer?

Remember how you spent $900 going out to eat? What the are you talking about? What the are you talking about? Missed a little $750 on non-shopping 1500? What the are you talking about? I needed money. What was your electricity bill?

• 28:27Speaker 03

  Like, almost, was it 420?

• 28:29Speaker 04

  It was 415.

• 28:30Speaker 03

  I was like, yeah.

• 28:31Caleb Hammer?

So less than half of what you went out to eat. I don't wanna here. There's no sympathy. Well, I couldn't pay my utilities. Off. That's the story we hear out there. Oh, utilities, they're so expensive. And they are. I couldn't afford them. I'm poor. You. Look at your spending. I wanna look through everyone's spending. Whoever says they couldn't afford to make their payments. You spent more than double. And you say you can't pay that on time? And you're gonna take care of other bills? What are you talking about? Oh, one of the roommates is moving out in the near future. You're gonna be destroyed rent-wise.

• 29:03Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 29:04Caleb Hammer?

Oh, how are you making up that difference?

• 29:06Speaker 04

Uh, hopefully paying off a lot of our monthlies.

• 29:10Caleb Hammer?

  Huh?

• 29:11Speaker 04

  Our, our monthly minimum.

• 29:12Caleb Hammer?

How? That doesn't make sense. I'm going to pay off my debt better when I'm bringing in less money from our roommates. What?

• 29:19Speaker 03

Like trying to pay it off now before he leaves.

• 29:26Speaker 04

Yeah, uh, that's the goal. That's, that's been my goal and I'm, I'm lost. I don't know how to get there.

• 30:11Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 30:13Caleb Hammer?

Oh, I buy power. He's a little gamer gooner. I'm assuming you.

• 30:17Speaker 04

Yeah, the, uh, the I buy power is my son's for last Christmas.

• 30:24Caleb Hammer?

  How old?

• 30:25Speaker 04

  Thirteen.

• 30:26Caleb Hammer?

Why the does he need a fucking top end gaming PC?

• 30:30Speaker 04

I buy it is not top end.

• 30:32Caleb Hammer?

What is it? How much is it?

• 30:33Speaker 04

  Uh, it's an I five.

• 30:36Caleb Hammer?

  To the game.

• 30:37Speaker 04

Ten, ten, six hundred, uh, non K, I think. And then.

• 30:41Caleb Hammer?

  How much was it?

• 30:42Speaker 04

Like six hundred and twenty, six thirty.

• 30:44Caleb Hammer?

No, that's not possible. No, that's literally not possible. Paid to date has already been one thousand one hundred fifty five. What the are you talking about?

• 30:53Speaker 04

Oh, I had to change the price. So it was gonna be, and then they didn't have the graphics card I wanted for it. So I think he got like a twenty seventy or something. Yeah. Cause I wanted to give him a twenty sixty, but they didn't have them. Mm hmm.

• 31:09Caleb Hammer?

Why the are you even getting this dude? This makes no sense. And now you're paying minimum monthly payments on this forever. What's the interest rate on this? I bet it has interest rate. Oh, there's a new way after this. My goodness. He's full game.

• 31:20Speaker 03

  That that one's my fault.

• 31:21Speaker 04

  Yeah, that's, that's her.

• 31:22Caleb Hammer?

  That's game goon too?

• 31:24Speaker 04

  No, she does not.

• 31:25Speaker 03

That was for the Steam Deck that I wanted.

• 31:27Speaker 04

  That has now been sold.

• 31:29Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 31:29Caleb Hammer?

Great. Well, we have a debt for it, so I don't give a.

• 31:33Caleb Hammer?

That's even worse that you don't have the asset.

• 31:34Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 31:36Caleb Hammer?

Okay. Well, you still owe three hundred twenty two dollars and seventeen cents on this. I buy power.

• 31:41Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 31:41Caleb Hammer?

The minimum payment looks like sixty five, forty three.

• 31:44Speaker 04

And that was, that was on a, a bet, a dare. I don't know what you call it.

• 31:49Caleb Hammer?

  Huh?

• 31:50Speaker 04

I bet my son he couldn't get straight A's and let's just say it's.

• 31:53Caleb Hammer?

I appreciate that, but why does it have to be with something that costs fifteen hundred dollars on interest?

• 31:58Speaker 04

Oh, lack of bad judgment in the moment.

• 32:00Caleb Hammer?

Like I, I'm down with that. That makes sense too. Encourage him to get.

• 32:03Speaker 04

He had an effing band. How am I supposed to know?

• 32:07Caleb Hammer?

  I don't know.

• 32:09Speaker 04

  Same.

• 32:09Caleb Hammer?

  But now he's doing well.

• 32:11Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 32:11Caleb Hammer?

Why are we promising a fifteen hundred dollar?

• 32:13Speaker 04

Cause he had an effing band.

• 32:14Caleb Hammer?

Dude, if he's an effing band, he's like throwing spitballs on the ceiling.

• 32:17Speaker 04

  Exactly. So I thought.

• 32:18Caleb Hammer?

  He's a degenerate. He's a degenerate.

• 32:20Speaker 04

Fortnite is strong apparently because he all of a sudden he's a master.

• 32:23Caleb Hammer?

Fortnite on a three hundred dollar Xbox S.

• 32:26Speaker 03

He likes to be the cool dad and say like, oh, well, I'm a gamer. So you want to be a gamer.

• 32:30Speaker 04

A lot of it is shame because I spent a lot of years where I couldn't buy them anything.

• 32:34Caleb Hammer?

You still can't. You guys are just driving a debt.

• 32:37Speaker 04

I know, but it's, that's, that's my only, that's my only crappy attempt at justifying it. Okay? We could.

• 32:43Caleb Hammer?

I like the encouragement to get good grades, but there's so many other things we could do at a such lower price point.

• 32:49Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 32:49Caleb Hammer?

Dude, a trip to like Six Flags would have been cheaper.

• 32:53Speaker 04

  In Oklahoma.

• 32:55Caleb Hammer?

You come down to Texas, you take.

• 32:58Speaker 04

I've never been to Texas. I know you guys have a Six Flags. But Six Flags over Texas.

• 33:02Caleb Hammer?

What? Yeah, we've had Six Flags.

• 33:05Speaker 04

Fucking grew up in California. What? You had Disneyland.

• 33:07Caleb Hammer?

Six Flags are everywhere. It doesn't matter. You could have done a lot of things. You could have done a lot of things.

• 33:12Speaker 04

I'm aware. I've beat myself about that and you're free to do it too. Just know in the future, it's.

• 33:19Caleb Hammer?

  And auto pay is off.

• 33:21Speaker 04

Yes, auto pay is off on everything right now.

• 33:24Caleb Hammer?

Death. Great. That's wonderful. Okay. So what's the interest on this?

• 33:29Speaker 04

  Oh, man.

• 33:31Caleb Hammer?

  Probably thirty-five percent.

• 33:32Speaker 04

  Through a firm, so probably.

• 33:33Caleb Hammer?

Thirty-five percent, probably thirty-five point nine nine.

• 33:35Speaker 04

  Yeah, something like that.

• 33:36Caleb Hammer?

• 34:41Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 34:41Caleb Hammer?

  When did we get this?

• 34:43Speaker 04

Hmm, middle of last year, summer, I believe.

• 34:46Caleb Hammer?

  Last year?

• 34:47Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 34:48Caleb Hammer?

This has been over a year that you're paying for is iBuyPower?

• 34:51Speaker 04

  Yes, and.

• 34:52Caleb Hammer?

  And it's iBuyPower?

• 34:55Speaker 04

We'll come back to that because there's another computer you're gonna hate even more on there.

• 34:59Caleb Hammer?

  From iBuyPower?

• 35:00Speaker 04

No, from worse. iBuyPower is a saint compared to the next one. Just wait till you get there because I'm happy to put that other company on blast.

• 35:08Speaker 04

I will say that computer showed up well.

• 35:10Speaker 03

  We go through.

• 35:10Speaker 04

  I usually build them myself.

• 35:12Speaker 03

We go through electronics and computers like people go through underwear in this house.

• 35:15Speaker 04

Yeah, that's by far our biggest problem in every form of life is electronics.

• 35:19Caleb Hammer?

Isn't this like HP's version of their pro gaming bullshit?

• 35:23Speaker 04

No, iBuyPower is a, it's an OEM. It's standalone.

• 35:26Caleb Hammer?

Okay, good. I'm thinking of something else.

• 35:28Speaker 04

Upgrade later and everything. It's all off the shelf parts.

• 35:31Caleb Hammer?

Okay, fine. Okay, then I'm not freaking out.

• 35:34Speaker 04

Yeah, I usually build them myself.

• 35:36Caleb Hammer?

Everything's superly expensive on their website, I'll say.

• 35:38Speaker 03

And I also have iBuyPower in my debt, too.

• 35:42Caleb Hammer?

Oh, this is just a full goon household. Okay, this is Newegg. This is for an 8K display port, 1.4 cable, 6.4 feet, Steam Deck.

• 35:53Speaker 04

No, no, there was a cable and the Steam Deck.

• 35:55Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah, yeah.

• 35:56Speaker 04

We did not pay, we did not pay whatever that was.

• 35:58Caleb Hammer?

So you don't even owe this anymore, and it was a thousand dollars?

• 36:01Speaker 03

Yeah, cuz I, he wanted, well, he wanted me to get the.

• 36:03Speaker 04

Well, I wanted her to get the cheap, uh, $400 Steam Deck, and it had to be the OLED, had to be the 1TB.

• 36:11Speaker 04

And by the time I decided to say screw it and sold it, uh, she had two hours on it total. And that was months.

• 36:19Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 36:20Speaker 03

I don't know, I didn't, it didn't, I couldn't use what I wanted to use on it. Like, I thought I could, so I just, I used my Switch more, so.

• 36:27Caleb Hammer?

You guys just blow all the money in the fucking world on anything you guys want in the moment.

• 36:32Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 36:33Caleb Hammer?

But you communicate about it, you're saying?

• 36:35Speaker 04

  No, no.

• 36:36Caleb Hammer?

The big purchases you said you communicate about.

• 36:38Speaker 04

  That's become now.

• 36:39Speaker 03

In his defense, I told him I would pay the monthly payment for the, the Steam Deck.

• 36:43Caleb Hammer?

I was it? I we, when it comes to marriage?

• 36:46Speaker 04

This was pre-joint finances. Nothing was done together at that point.

• 36:49Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but I'm curious, the, why was it?

• 36:52Speaker 04

I mean, it is we. She tried to justify it because I said I didn't want another monthly payment. And she tried to justify it, and she said, well, I'll make it. She didn't make any of them.

• 37:00Caleb Hammer?

Did you make money from, uh, getting rid of it?

• 37:02Speaker 04

Yes, yes, I have the money to pay it off, just be done with it, to hold that.

• 37:06Caleb Hammer?

So what was it? How much did you get for it?

• 37:08Speaker 04

Uh, I got 680 for it, and then I also, so I, I've been selling a lot of electronics.

• 37:14Speaker 03

Yeah, we're trying to, we're trying to declutter our house.

• 37:17Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, it's time to sell everything. I'll cross.

• 37:19Speaker 04

That's what I'm doing. That's, that's why I said some of that. That's why I said some of the incoming might have been from, uh, eBay. Cuz I am selling everything actively.

• 37:27Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, that is, that's not even a fucking choice. I'll sell this, but this is a ridiculous 1,000-hour purchase, and you lost 500.

• 37:33Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 37:34Caleb Hammer?

  400.

• 37:34Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 37:37Speaker 04

I think the Xbox was more egregious than that even.

• 37:39Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 37:41Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, so we get every little gaming device that is possibly on the market, it sounds like.

• 37:46Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 37:46Caleb Hammer?

There's not one we don't get great.

• 37:48Speaker 04

Yeah, I call it hobby hopping, because she hops to a different.

• 37:50Caleb Hammer?

  Sick, hobby hopping's so expensive.

• 37:52Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 37:53Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 37:53Caleb Hammer?

Okay, what is this? Serenity sleep bundle for what?

• 37:56Speaker 04

  Oh, yes. No.

• 37:59Speaker 03

  Is it not?

• 37:59Speaker 04

Nope. Uh, I don't think so. What's the total on that?

• 38:03Caleb Hammer?

You spent nine hundred ninety-seven, but you've already.

• 38:06Speaker 04

Oh, that that might be the best.

• 38:07Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, twelve hundred.

• 38:09Speaker 03

  Yeah, certainly, it's our bed.

• 38:09Speaker 04

Yeah, I I thought that was the couch. I thought we were gonna start.

• 38:12Caleb Hammer?

Are we getting this? I mean, listen, mattresses are expensive.

• 38:15Speaker 04

  Was mandatory because.

• 38:17Speaker 03

Because we were sleeping on a mattress on the floor and the mattress, like the springs was popping through and like.

• 38:20Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah, I had that mattress.

• 38:21Caleb Hammer?

Did you have to get a thousand dollar mattress?

• 38:24Speaker 04

It has to be California King. I'm seven foot one. It's not. And I already have knee problems. My legs hanging off.

• 38:30Caleb Hammer?

  You're seven point one?

• 38:31Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 38:32Caleb Hammer?

That's crazy. I've never met someone over seven feet.

• 38:35Speaker 04

  Yeah, it's a whole struggle.

• 38:36Speaker 03

Having a big, a large bed was kind of like.

• 38:37Speaker 04

We got it. There's no frame or anything. That's just a mattress and a box spring. Because I tried to keep it cheap, but California Kings are so expensive.

• 38:46Speaker 03

  Yeah, for no reason.

• 38:47Caleb Hammer?

Are you sure you're seven point one?

• 38:49Speaker 04

Seven one, seven two. It depends on the day and my posture and my back problems.

• 38:54Caleb Hammer?

  It's a seventy-two dollar fifty-two cent minimum monthly payment.

• 38:57Speaker 04

Yes, that is the bed then.

• 38:59Caleb Hammer?

Endlessly forever, probably at a thirty-five point nine nine percent interest rate of death.

• 39:04Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 39:06Speaker 03

  It's like double.

• 39:06Caleb Hammer?

This is, this is just like fat stack week again, where we just have literally every debt you could possibly accumulate in a stack as large as.

• 39:16Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 39:16Caleb Hammer?

I don't know. This is, this is just crazy, man. And of course, auto pay is off. Who would have thought?

• 39:23Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 39:25Speaker 04

I've got a mental block with auto pay. I told you, it's. Terrifying to me.

• 39:29Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but then you accumulate fees and your debts is taking forever to pay off. And it's gonna take even longer.

• 39:34Speaker 04

Yeah, I would like to get to the point where I'm comfortable that we'll have money in the account to just turn on auto pay.

• 39:38Caleb Hammer?

Nine hundred ninety seven dollar matches, but you're paying a total of a thousand three hundred.

• 39:43Speaker 04

Yeah, I'm I'm not perfectly versed in all of our totals and percentages and everything, but I do look at them regularly and obsess over them.

• 39:50Caleb Hammer?

Then why are we still spending? That doesn't make it if you're obsessing that that is not lining up.

• 39:55Speaker 04

  Hediness? I don't know.

• 39:56Caleb Hammer?

  Hediness?

• 39:56Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 39:57Caleb Hammer?

Petty over what? What the is petty? What are you talking about petty?

• 40:00Speaker 04

  It's the competition, you know?

• 40:01Caleb Hammer?

  What?

• 40:02Speaker 04

She buys dumb stuff and then I'm like, well, I want dumb stuff and.

• 40:07Caleb Hammer?

  So we're children.

• 40:08Speaker 04

All of my dumb stuff has happened in the last six months, I'm pretty sure, unironically, because I don't buy myself things like ever, like big stuff. That's all happened because we in January.

• 40:21Caleb Hammer?

So what the changed in six months then?

• 40:23Speaker 04

Well, so I we gave up on having a kid, funnily enough.

• 40:26Speaker 03

  Yeah, we tried forever.

• 40:27Speaker 04

We tried for three years. It didn't have one January. We said, and made some dumb decisions and all of a sudden that's.

• 40:34Caleb Hammer?

But you still had two. So you gave up. How long did you give up? When did you find out you were pregnant? You're having a baby next month.

• 40:40Speaker 03

  In February.

• 40:41Caleb Hammer?

So we had one month of reckless? No, you were having reckless well beyond one month. There's no way.

• 40:45Speaker 04

My big things were about one month. Yeah. No, you haven't gotten to mine yet. It's juicy. Just keep going through the bundle of joy.

• 40:53Caleb Hammer?

Oh, I am. I have no other choice. Walmart. Okay. What the did we get at Walmart for twelve hundred dollars?

• 40:59Speaker 04

  I think that was.

• 41:00Speaker 03

  Was that Christmas?

• 41:01Speaker 04

  Yeah, that was. And.

• 41:03Caleb Hammer?

It was just fucking Christmas presents?

• 41:05Speaker 03

Yeah, he bought he bought a PlayStation for his nephew.

• 41:08Speaker 04

I will defend that PlayStation to the death. I'm ready to fight you.

• 41:11Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 41:11Speaker 04

  So.

• 41:12Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, let me defend a thirty five percent interest rate when I can't afford life.

• 41:15Speaker 04

I'm aware the way I got.

• 41:16Caleb Hammer?

  We have no retirement.

• 41:17Speaker 04

I'm aware of the way I got it.

• 41:18Caleb Hammer?

No, that is dumb. With your lack of retirement, lack of emergency fund and overall debt situation is dumb regardless if you spent it on debt.

• 41:24Speaker 04

Yeah, I'm I'm aware of that part, but my nephew was born with a heart condition where every couple of years he has to go get a valve replaced. Open heart surgery and he's laid up forever and his parents are very anti new technology like his newest thing is an Xbox three sixty. So I got him a PlayStation 5. It's not supported on anything. He can't update any games.

• 41:45Speaker 03

He couldn't play with his friends.

• 41:46Speaker 04

Most of his discs don't work and we don't have a game store where we're at in Oklahoma.

• 41:50Caleb Hammer?

Why does that have to be your responsibility?

• 41:51Speaker 04

I know. It shouldn't be. I've had that conversation with his mom.

• 41:54Caleb Hammer?

I appreciate the heart of it, man. I appreciate the sympathy.

• 41:58Speaker 04

That's what I'm saying is I'll defend the heart. I know it was a dumb financial move, but I'll, I'm gonna die on that hill.

• 42:03Caleb Hammer?

Also, it was more than that. You spent double than just the PlayStation.

• 42:05Speaker 04

Yeah, it was the PlayStation and then...

• 42:09Speaker 03

  Go on.

• 42:10Speaker 04

  Nintendo Switch for my daughter.

• 42:12Speaker 03

  Mm-hmm.

• 42:13Speaker 04

That she broke two months later.

• 42:15Caleb Hammer?

Oh my [bleep]. You guys just get everything. There's nothing you don't get.

• 42:19Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 42:20Caleb Hammer?

There is nothing you don't get. And I see a smart watch on you.

• 42:23Speaker 04

Uh, this was cash flow, no financing, nothing.

• 42:25Caleb Hammer?

Doesn't matter. It would've gone towards debt.

• 42:28Speaker 04

Well, no, it was, I traded in my old Apple Watch when I swapped off of Apple.

• 42:33Speaker 03

And I have one too. I'm just not wearing it.

• 42:34Speaker 04

This was free. This was 100% free.

• 42:36Speaker 03

Which mine was also a, I need to, I need to have it because it's the newest one, but I'm not wearing it. I had the service.

• 42:40Caleb Hammer?

I would rather you sold the Apple Watch and put it towards debt, dude.

• 42:44Speaker 04

Yeah, I was using this for the gym because I dropped like 104 pounds in like eight months. I'm trying and I needed something to track my heart rate and everything.

• 42:53Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but you could get a Fitbit.

• 42:54Speaker 04

But this was free. I couldn't trade in the Fitbit.

• 42:57Caleb Hammer?

No, but you could've sold your Apple Watch.

• 42:59Speaker 04

  I, I could've.

• 43:00Caleb Hammer?

Got a Fitbit for the cheaper. Use the Apple Watch money and get it some more.

• 43:03Speaker 04

I was not versed in selling on eBay and all that. And in our town, nobody knows what the hell a computer is. Electronics do not move in our town.

• 43:10Caleb Hammer?

Why are we living in that town?

• 43:11Speaker 04

I moved with family when they came here for the installation.

• 43:15Speaker 03

I would like to move and go anywhere else, but clearly we can't, so.

• 43:19Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 43:20Speaker 03

  Can't afford to.

• 43:21Speaker 04

Because we screwed up for the last five years.

• 43:24Caleb Hammer?

But you guys have work experience.

• 43:25Speaker 04

Like, like 10, 15 years, that's the goal. To get out of there.

• 43:29Caleb Hammer?

  10 to 15 years?

• 43:30Speaker 04

Yeah, I'm shooting far, but that is the goal eventually to get out of there.

• 43:33Caleb Hammer?

Can you deal with it for 10 to 15 years living in this place?

• 43:36Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 43:36Caleb Hammer?

  You can. I'm asking you.

• 43:38Speaker 03

I mean, I don't like our house, but...

• 43:41Caleb Hammer?

We have a mortgage on something we don't even like?

• 43:43Speaker 04

She, she doesn't like. I think it's fine. But my standards are skewed. Four walls and a roof. But.

• 43:49Caleb Hammer?

Why would we go into debt for that, though?

• 43:51Speaker 03

I don't it just it was like a rushed kind of situation.

• 43:54Caleb Hammer?

You rushed into a house? Why?

• 43:57Speaker 03

Like, we got married and like two days later, we signed the paper for our house.

• 43:59Caleb Hammer?

Oh, why? No one's asking the answer why?

• 44:02Speaker 04

So we looked for about a month and we had no clue what we were going for. We just wanted to look originally.

• 44:08Speaker 03

I didn't even know I could get approved for a house. And then I just went to a

• 44:10Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 44:11Speaker 03

a company and they were like, here's these houses.

• 44:13Caleb Hammer?

  They'll approve anyone for everything.

• 44:15Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 44:16Speaker 03

But I mean, we like, we did get a deal on the house because the the person that owned.

• 44:20Caleb Hammer?

  Deal? You hate it?

• 44:21Speaker 03

  The person that owned it.

• 44:22Speaker 04

Money money wise, she doesn't hate it. Just.

• 44:25Speaker 03

  Yeah, the person.

• 44:25Speaker 04

  Aesthetic wise, she hates it.

• 44:26Speaker 03

The person that owned it, she was leaving and her contract was up, so she needed to sell the house. So it was very like, they knocked off like $10,000.

• 44:32Caleb Hammer?

  Why do you hate it?

• 44:34Speaker 03

Because there's just like a lot of cosmetic stuff that just.

• 44:36Speaker 04

That they hit very well in staging.

• 44:38Speaker 03

But like, we can't afford to fix it. So I'm just.

• 44:39Caleb Hammer?

How many bed? How many bath square footage?

• 44:41Speaker 04

Uh, four bed, two bath, 1300 square feet, I think.

• 44:44Caleb Hammer?

  Ah, 1300.

• 44:45Speaker 04

Yeah, it's it's small, but it's a lot of rooms.

• 44:47Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah.

• 44:48Speaker 04

And the garage is half renovated into a levelable space.

• 44:50Caleb Hammer?

For Americans, resale ability usually want minimum 1500 if it's a single family attached house.

• 44:55Speaker 04

With if the garage gets finished being converted because they already have it insulated.

• 44:59Caleb Hammer?

  You're converting a garage?

• 44:59Speaker 04

No, no, no. We bought it. It was already half.

• 45:01Speaker 03

They had already started converting. It's it's half converted.

• 45:03Speaker 04

So once we make some progress.

• 45:05Caleb Hammer?

  Part of the square footage?

• 45:06Speaker 04

No, no, that's going. Not right now. It's not.

• 45:08Caleb Hammer?

  You're converting the garage, though?

• 45:09Speaker 04

Yes, we're going to eventually, but.

• 45:11Caleb Hammer?

Americans are obsessive over garages. You're making this house.

• 45:14Speaker 04

Fit a car in that garage. It's so small.

• 45:17Caleb Hammer?

You're making this house even harder to sell in the future.

• 45:19Speaker 03

But it is. It's the only two story house and it's a corner lot on that street. So.

• 45:23Caleb Hammer?

And a town no one wants to live in.

• 45:25Speaker 04

No, it's a military town. They have to live there. It's not optional for most people.

• 45:29Caleb Hammer?

Buy, though, for the three year stint?

• 45:31Speaker 04

  A lot of people do.

• 45:32Speaker 03

  I have no idea. I don't.

• 45:33Speaker 04

Yeah, my my parents just sold a house there and it took them three weeks, I think. Because they.

• 45:38Caleb Hammer?

Maybe they dramatically undersold. Maybe their house is better. I don't know.

• 45:40Speaker 04

No, it it was a nice house, but they didn't undersell. They made a lot off of it. No, no.

• 45:45Caleb Hammer?

How long did they own it?

• 45:47Speaker 03

  Hmm.

• 45:47Speaker 04

  Six years?

• 45:48Speaker 03

  I have no idea.

• 45:49Speaker 04

  Something like that.

• 45:50Caleb Hammer?

Okay, what is this? General merchandise, we owe, uh, right now, oh, by the way, the Walmart, he's, they still owe $778.35, minimum monthly payment, $48.75. Okay, what is general merchandise, who's $1,341.89? We're still on a firm, by the way, this is fucking crazy.

• 46:06Speaker 04

Oh yeah, there's a lot of a firm. Um, general merchandise is probably Walmart again, if I'm being honest.

• 46:11Caleb Hammer?

What the did we do, it's February 13th? Oh, um, the month we found out we were pregnant and we were done with our doomed dumb ass spending, by the way.

• 46:18Speaker 04

That's the conception date, not when we found out. We found out in March.

• 46:24Caleb Hammer?

So we've celebrated our spending $1,400 on 35% interest?

• 46:29Speaker 04

I have no idea what that is.

• 46:30Caleb Hammer?

We don't even know what we spent. You're at, you're at a 35.99% interest.

• 46:34Speaker 04

In the moment, I knew what it was, but now I don't even know.

• 46:36Caleb Hammer?

Dude, this is crazy, a $67.9 cents?

• 46:40Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 46:40Caleb Hammer?

Monthly and you don't even know what the it's for within this past year? I know what I've spent money on this year.

• 46:46Speaker 04

I believe you, you're smarter than me.

• 46:49Caleb Hammer?

It's not even about that, I'm.

• 46:51Speaker 04

In the, in the moment, I probably thought it was important, but I couldn't tell you now what even the hell it was, so.

• 46:57Speaker 03

  I have absolutely, I, I don't know.

• 47:00Caleb Hammer?

Hi, listen here, financial audit. I've curated the exact resources and tools I personally use or would use if I was in certain situations. So take advantage of these offers in the resources section in the description below. The first one, I've moved my investments to Weebull. Do the same and transfer to my investing app of choice and you get cash bonuses of $200 all the way up to $30,000, depending on initial funding amount and up to 8.1% APY on your money and up to 3.5 matches for your IRA. And then number two, a great new checking account that I've switched over from SoFi and it's called Chime.

• 47:40Caleb Hammer?

Get that $550 bonus when you sign up with direct deposit and get almost 4% on your money just sitting there. And then three, automate your investing with Acorns. Usually sign up incentives are only five bucks, but you get $20 with my link. Number four, you can increase your income and boost your resume with a course career certification. Five, if T-Mobile is good in your area, switch to Helium and get a literal $0 a month phone plan for the same exact service. But most importantly, go get your free Hammer financial score and see where you stand in the world of finances. Take the assessment at CalebHammer.com. You will not regret any of these change your life today.

• 48:20Speaker 03

Like I couldn't take what it is for sure. So

• 48:21Caleb Hammer?

Good man. Sixty seven dollar nine cent payment on a monthly basis. Spent thirteen forty one, but of course I'm halfway through paying this off yet. We owe a total of one thousand five hundred sixty three. This one's probably closer to like twenty percent, but even still it's horrible in every way whatsoever.

• 48:44Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 48:45Caleb Hammer?

You were banned from a firm?

• 48:47Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 48:49Caleb Hammer?

  Good. Why?

• 48:51Speaker 03

Because I had probably like, I don't know, eighteen hundred or two thousand in and I didn't pay it so into collections. Well, I couldn't afford to pay it.

• 49:01Caleb Hammer?

What's wrong with you guys? You just, what is happening?

• 49:06Speaker 04

You don't have time for that.

• 49:07Caleb Hammer?

  Spending's insanity.

• 49:09Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 49:10Caleb Hammer?

You're spending. This is some of the most ridiculous spending I have seen on this show. Spending alone, spending, not even talking about the debt, not even talking about debt to income, not even talking about any of that. Spending alone, some of the most insane

• 49:24Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 49:24Caleb Hammer?

Behavioral issues I've ever seen from people that are almost thirty and well within their thirties.

• 49:30Speaker 04

  That's true. I mean.

• 49:32Caleb Hammer?

This is a fucking joke and of course auto pays off as they all are.

• 49:38Speaker 03

I really wish I knew what that was to justify it.

• 49:40Caleb Hammer?

Oh, and this affirm spending isn't under their own account.

• 49:43Speaker 04

  Yeah, it's under.

• 49:45Caleb Hammer?

  Does that mean?

• 49:47Speaker 03

Yeah. He's using our roommate's credit.

• 49:50Caleb Hammer?

  For fucking why?

• 49:52Speaker 04

Uh, it was his idea, unironically.

• 49:55Caleb Hammer?

  What?

• 49:55Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah.

• 49:56Caleb Hammer?

What was the conversation around this?

• 49:58Speaker 04

So I can't go into too much detail about it because it's his personal stuff, but.

• 50:04Speaker 03

Basically, he couldn't use a firm, so.

• 50:06Speaker 04

  Yeah, I couldn't use a firm.

• 50:07Speaker 03

  And I couldn't use a firm.

• 50:08Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 50:09Speaker 04

I destroyed my credit, uh, a long time ago. I was, I was good with credit.

• 50:13Caleb Hammer?

Long time ago, but you can rebound it quickly.

• 50:15Speaker 04

Well, so, okay, let's, let's dive into this. All right. So I was good with credit for most of my life and then mental issues happened. And, um, I had a bad situation when I was living in Washington state and I had to bail on a lease for an apartment. And I only just a couple of months ago got that pulled off my credit by disputing it. So that's why I moved back towards family because I was having mental issues there and that's.

• 50:41Speaker 03

But anyway, we couldn't use a firm for me because I'd already been, like, I already had that in collections, so I couldn't use a firm. He couldn't get approved for a firm, so. We, he had, he had all roommates checked to see if they could get approved.

• 50:53Speaker 04

Yeah, because they told me they wouldn't do it.

• 50:55Caleb Hammer?

The opposite of like being able to have that. You can't even have that. Honestly, and I recommend usually that most guests get Fizz, the debit card that builds credit. I don't even want you guys to get that. I don't trust you to do anything. I don't trust you to do anything. I'll get you that. I'll get you course career certifications, all that to build income. I'll get you guys on helium if T-Mobile's in your area. We'll help you save all the money, but I wouldn't even use the Fizz card for you specifically. Cause you're just so, you're just beyond, man. You're just beyond. This is just crazy. Let's continue down the stack. Okay. Cyber Power PC.

• 51:28Speaker 04

That's the one. Yeah, that company. So that was my, we're not having a kid purchase and they sent it with.

• 51:36Caleb Hammer?

So let's get a Goon machine?

• 51:37Speaker 03

Well, his computer was old and I had told him, I'm like, you have.

• 51:40Caleb Hammer?

  Old.

• 51:41Speaker 03

  Like his.

• 51:41Speaker 04

Old, old. It was like a 1050 not TI. It couldn't run anything.

• 51:46Speaker 03

And I told him, I was like, I had said, you know, you, you know, you never buy anything for yourself. You're always buying stuff for me. I was like, why don't you go ahead and just splurge and buy yourself something nice?

• 51:54Caleb Hammer?

  $3,354 is a nice computer.

• 51:56Speaker 04

Yeah, they sure should have been.

• 51:57Caleb Hammer?

  What?

• 51:58Speaker 04

Oh, that company needs to burn to the ground. So they sent me it with a bricked graphics card, right? And then I RMA'd the graphics card. They sent back a bricked graphics card. I RMA'd the graphics card again. They sent me a bricked graphics card. And then I was out of my RMA window with them.

• 52:14Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 52:15Speaker 04

And I tried to run the serial number through gigabyte. No flame to them. They're fine. But it was, they couldn't, it didn't even come up as if it had an RMA through them or anything. So Cyber Power screwed me on that. So I sold it four parts and now I have.

• 52:32Caleb Hammer?

Did you not file the dispute with your credit card? Well, with a firm?

• 52:35Speaker 04

I can't because the rest of the computer is fine. So they're saying the purchase is fine.

• 52:39Caleb Hammer?

  Ah.

• 52:40Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 52:40Caleb Hammer?

  A firm saying that?

• 52:42Speaker 04

Yes. Yeah, no, it's it's wild.

• 52:44Caleb Hammer?

  I would have battled that.

• 52:45Speaker 04

But so now I have a thirty three hundred, I think it's like thirty nine hundred after the interest computer with the fastest possible processor you can have in a computer and a in twenty sixty graphics card.

• 52:57Caleb Hammer?

Thirty series is are pretty cheap these days, but obviously you can't afford it.

• 53:00Speaker 04

No, no, no, no, I just I just put in what we had in the house. I'm not dealing with that.

• 53:04Caleb Hammer?

Oh, good, good. Well, that's actually a proper decision. But yeah, this is getting this was alone was absolutely ridiculous. Three thousand, three hundred fifty four dollars and eighty cents is what was spent, but you're gonna spend a total of three thousand, nine hundred fourteen dollars on this and it's didn't even work. It's broken. Minimum monthly payments alone, you're doing a car payment on this PC tower. Three hundred twenty six dollars and nineteen cents. Yeah.

• 53:56Caleb Hammer?

Probably again, twenty to thirty percent interest rate of absolute moronic insanity.

• 54:03Speaker 05

• 54:28Caleb Hammer?

How often do you guys actually even game? He ever, him every day.

• 54:34Speaker 04

  Constantly.

• 54:35Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, what are you playing?

• 54:36Speaker 04

A lot of free to play, yeah. Um, my main crack is League of Legends.

• 54:40Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so are you buying in-game?

• 54:43Speaker 04

No, no, so I used to. Uh, I was addicted to it when I was like 19.

• 54:47Caleb Hammer?

  19?

• 54:48Speaker 04

Yeah, I, uh, yeah, I had a lot of money when I was 19 and really no bills. So, uh, I spent, uh, a small house worth on skins.

• 54:57Caleb Hammer?

  On skins? How much?

• 54:58Speaker 04

  Uh, like 92,000.

• 55:00Caleb Hammer?

  92,000 dollars on in-game skins?

• 55:02Speaker 04

Yeah, that's the best part is I don't have any of them anymore.

• 55:04Caleb Hammer?

  When you were 19?

• 55:05Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 55:06Caleb Hammer?

  Did you sell them?

• 55:07Speaker 04

  No, I got banned.

• 55:08Speaker 03

  Oh, he lost the account.

• 55:09Speaker 04

So now I am not toxic on video games anymore. Don't be toxic, kids.

• 55:12Caleb Hammer?

No, be toxic in video games. Stop banning people. We need to bring back toxicity in gaming.

• 55:17Speaker 04

Right? Like, if, if I had said something racist or hate speech or any of that, I would have been fine with the ban. But it was really just me being an a**ed, which is, I think that, that you shouldn't be sensitive enough like that on a video game.

• 55:27Caleb Hammer?

No, you shouldn't. I saw, I saw a, a woman on Twitter complaining after she granaded herself in CS:GO that people were trash-talking her and then she got them all banned.

• 55:36Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah, that's ridiculous.

• 55:38Caleb Hammer?

Hey, if you play video games, stop being a f**k. Start throwing out the f**k.

• 55:42Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah.

• 55:43Caleb Hammer?

In the Xbox Live group chat.

• 55:45Speaker 04

So I found out, uh, that slur is an immediate ban with no anything on League of Legends now.

• 55:51Caleb Hammer?

  Well, I mean, I wouldn't say, cause that's a

• 55:53Speaker 04

I found it out on a free account, by the way.

• 55:55Caleb Hammer?

It's a thing to say, but let's stop being, go, when did gaming become so pussified?

• 55:59Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 56:00Caleb Hammer?

  I'm so confused.

• 56:00Speaker 03

  And we've

• 56:01Caleb Hammer?

Listen, at 19, so 40 years later?

• 56:03Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 56:04Caleb Hammer?

By the time you would have retired, that 95,000 dollars that you spent would have been worth 2.3 million if invested in the overall stock market. You spent 2.3 million dollars on, uh, gaming skins.

• 56:13Speaker 04

That I don't have anymore, is my favorite part about that.

• 56:15Caleb Hammer?

Cause you were banned for saying the N-word.

• 56:16Speaker 04

I did not say the N-word. No, thank you.

• 56:19Speaker 03

And I have spent money on Valorant for him for some skins and he doesn't even play that game anymore.

• 56:24Speaker 04

That's my anniversary gift every year is one skin on Valorant. Cause I don't like physical things.

• 56:30Caleb Hammer?

And I'm a game gooner, but what the f**k are we doing?

• 56:33Speaker 04

Things. I don't like owning physical things, so she just gets me a skin every year on Valorant.

• 56:37Caleb Hammer?

  Blow job!

• 56:39Speaker 04

  That's part of it. Rude.

• 56:43Caleb Hammer?

  This is crazy, man.

• 56:45Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 56:46Caleb Hammer?

And I'm mostly joking about the game thing. Well, we do have to stop being so sensitive. It's weird to get banned for just being a little bit of a troll. What the?

• 56:52Speaker 04

So and it was usually just constructive. Wisdom.

• 56:56Caleb Hammer?

It's so stupid. It's so stupid.

• 56:58Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 56:58Caleb Hammer?

I mean, I have the money on League too, but not anywhere near.

• 57:00Speaker 04

Yeah, League has become more soft than Call of Duty, and that's saying something.

• 57:06Caleb Hammer?

This is a fuck crazy purchase and you're still gonna be paying on this forever. So.

• 57:09Speaker 04

  Oh, there's the best one.

• 57:09Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, what's this?

• 57:10Speaker 04

  That's the laptop.

• 57:10Caleb Hammer?

  What's, what account is this?

• 57:12Speaker 04

  That's, uh.

• 57:13Speaker 03

My, well, it's like Klarna, but OnePay, OnePay through Klarna.

• 57:17Caleb Hammer?

Wha- what even, what is that? Explain that to me. I don't even know what that is.

• 57:20Speaker 04

  Klarna re-banned branded 14 times. I don't know.

• 57:22Speaker 03

  Yeah, so.

• 57:23Speaker 04

It comes up as Klarna, yeah. It, it came up as OnePay through Klarna or something.

• 57:28Speaker 03

Through Walmart. He bought it through Walmart. So it's like a, it's like a firm. It's a monthly pay, you know, it's a monthly pay.

• 57:33Speaker 04

Yeah, it's the same thing. It's.

• 57:35Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, this is a laptop?

• 57:36Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 57:37Caleb Hammer?

  Who's laptop?

• 57:37Speaker 04

  Mine.

• 57:38Caleb Hammer?

  The fuck is it?

• 57:40Speaker 04

  Uh, 4050 i7. It's a.

• 57:44Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 57:46Speaker 03

He got it to play, to make maps for D and D campaigns.

• 57:48Speaker 04

Yeah, and I've already put over 200 hours on it.

• 57:51Caleb Hammer?

You already have a desktop to make maps?

• 57:54Speaker 04

Let me pick that up and take that with me when I'm.

• 57:55Caleb Hammer?

No, you can send yourself the damn map. Can you not on a cheaper device?

• 57:59Speaker 04

You cannot edit it on, it uses the RAM in your computer and on your graphics card to make it. I'm generating actual assets. Yeah.

• 58:05Caleb Hammer?

Oh my, what a ridiculous excuse for buying this thing. How much was it?

• 58:11Speaker 04

Uh, 850. So I think it's a thousand twenty after.

• 58:15Caleb Hammer?

  Thousand?

• 58:15Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 58:16Speaker 04

Yeah, it's, it's like a thousand twenty with the interest.

• 58:18Caleb Hammer?

  You just.

• 58:20Speaker 04

  Two weeks ago.

• 58:21Caleb Hammer?

Good. What is wrong with you? I thought we were trying to take this seriously now. You're getting on her the beginning?

• 58:26Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 58:27Caleb Hammer?

  You're getting on her fucking.

• 58:28Speaker 04

  I also.

• 58:29Caleb Hammer?

Maybe you should have put it in her ass so we don't have a kid coming with this kind of behavior that's happening? What the fuck? You're going out and getting a 4080 laptop?

• 58:37Speaker 04

  I did tell you.

• 58:38Caleb Hammer?

  Laptop?

• 58:39Speaker 04

I did tell you recent, you say 4080? No, no, no.

• 58:41Caleb Hammer?

  You told me 4080.

• 58:42Speaker 04

  I said 4050 i7.

• 58:44Caleb Hammer?

  Even still ridiculous.

• 58:45Speaker 03

And this is after he sold our two gaming laptops that we had.

• 58:48Speaker 04

Uh, no, I sold one that was breaking.

• 58:51Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 58:51Caleb Hammer?

You guys don't even know what's happening in your own household.

• 58:53Speaker 04

I know what's happening in our household.

• 58:55Caleb Hammer?

I don't even know, man. Yeah, okay, you're not, so that's even worse. You're not ignoring, you're just choosing to do this.

• 59:00Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 59:01Caleb Hammer?

What the? Come on, bullsh- this, this D and D thing is such a fucking cope. Come on.

• 59:09Speaker 04

What do you mean it's a cope? I mean, it's accurate, it's happening. I have 200 hours on the laptop in three weeks.

• 59:13Caleb Hammer?

Dude, what the? Spend 200 hour, hours going and working and paying down this debt.

• 59:18Speaker 04

I do, I can't work more than 40 a week. That's not how government installations work.

• 59:22Caleb Hammer?

  At that job.

• 59:23Speaker 04

Any other job on that installation, I cannot do.

• 59:25Caleb Hammer?

  On that installation?

• 59:26Speaker 04

Yes. That installation is the town. No, that installation is the town.

• 59:30Caleb Hammer?

You're telling me there's not one business in the entire city?

• 59:32Speaker 04

Yeah, there's a buffet that I won't say, but they offered me 12 hour shifts, $7 an hour, no breaks, no lunch, no overtime, which is illegal, no overtime past eight hours a day.

• 59:44Caleb Hammer?

Good, so make a lot of money. Dude, I don't care, you need another job.

• 59:47Speaker 04

It's all fast food places and that's it. And a Walmart.

• 59:50Caleb Hammer?

  Good.

• 59:51Speaker 04

I've, I've interviewed for fast food places.

• 59:54Caleb Hammer?

Over to fucking stock shelves at night, dude.

• 59:56Speaker 04

I, I am actively looking for a job in right now and Indeed says they have them all, but then you go talk to them or you call? Nothing, no callbacks, nothing. I've been applying for six months now to try to get a second job for weekends.

• 1:00:08Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, there's food all over the place, there's a hobby lobby.

• 1:00:11Speaker 04

Yeah. I've, I've applied to every place that's posted right now.

• 1:00:14Caleb Hammer?

Restaurant, saloon, Jersey Mike's, we got dairy store.

• 1:00:19Speaker 04

Everywhere on there, I have over 600 pending applications.

• 1:00:22Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but your, your application's probably, if we're being completely honest, because what you're doing is you're likely talking about all the experience you have, which makes it look like you're only gonna get that job for about a week.

• 1:00:30Speaker 04

I only do a, a limited, like, last three, four years.

• 1:00:33Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but it shows your experience of the jobs that you're likely trying to do. So it shows that you are probably just gonna accept their fact.

• 1:00:39Speaker 04

I tailor my experiences to what fits that job. So I have 12 years of chef experience, so when I'm applying to a restaurant, I put that. I, I specify my experience to the job I'm applying for.

• 1:00:51Caleb Hammer?

Got Verizon, AT&T, I don't wanna hear this bullshit. Cricket, this, this is just a normal town, man.

• 1:00:56Speaker 03

  He tried, he tried.

• 1:00:57Caleb Hammer?

There's a Goodwill, carpet store, furniture store, this is just a normal.

• 1:01:01Speaker 03

He tried to get a job at Verizon when I worked there, but they wouldn't let him.

• 1:01:05Caleb Hammer?

Barbershop, you wouldn't be able to work there, there's a Family Dollar, they'll, they'll hire everyone.

• 1:01:09Speaker 04

Yeah, I have, I have a lot of applications out right now pending and I'm just not getting back.

• 1:01:13Caleb Hammer?

  Cause that's what I would.

• 1:01:14Speaker 04

  Calling, calling and following up.

• 1:01:15Caleb Hammer?

Well, keep, keep grinding, keep grinding.

• 1:01:17Speaker 04

  Yeah, I'm trying.

• 1:01:18Caleb Hammer?

Well, I appreciate that fact, but that's what I would be doing instead of the.

• 1:01:21Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah, I want, I want a second job off installation.

• 1:01:23Caleb Hammer?

But it's just a normal town. Come on, this is just a normal.

• 1:01:26Speaker 04

It's very not. A lot of those buildings are closed or rundown or not working.

• 1:01:31Caleb Hammer?

These are open businesses. I have them in front of me. I'm seeing them at home.

• 1:01:34Speaker 04

They've had the same three employees since 1492.

• 1:01:41Speaker 04

I'm, I'm not joking about that. I am applying though, yes, and I am trying and following up. I'm even applying in the town 45 minutes away. If I have to, I'll drive on the weekends.

• 1:01:50Speaker 04

I, I promise you, I am trying. Yeah.

• 1:01:53Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, 55.

• 1:01:54Speaker 04

  Sus, that's fine.

• 1:01:55Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, so laptop.

• 1:01:57Speaker 04

  55, 70 something.

• 1:01:59Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, well, yes. The, the minimum payment is $55.77.

• 1:02:05Caleb Hammer?

That we got two weeks ago when we well know we're pregnant at that point.

• 1:02:08Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 1:02:09Caleb Hammer?

So D and D is more important than our kid?

• 1:02:10Speaker 04

  No.

• 1:02:12Caleb Hammer?

Well, behavior suggests that it is. $1,002.74 owed.

• 1:02:18Speaker 04

  And I did.

• 1:02:19Caleb Hammer?

And your thoughts on him going and just buying this?

• 1:02:22Speaker 03

So I tried to like give him options. I was like, well, I have an iPad. You could try to do it on the iPad and then go.

• 1:02:27Speaker 04

It won't work on an iPad?

• 1:02:28Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, it wouldn't work on an iPad. But I'm vibing with that. But go ahead. Well, what did you think about his purchase?

• 1:02:32Speaker 03

And like I was telling him that maybe he should wait until we got some stuff paid off first.

• 1:02:35Caleb Hammer?

  That makes sense.

• 1:02:37Speaker 03

  And he said.

• 1:02:37Caleb Hammer?

  What's wrong with that solution?

• 1:02:38Speaker 03

He said, well, I'll give it a day to think about it. And then five minutes later, he's like, hey, I need all your stuff because it's under my name. So he's like.

• 1:02:45Speaker 04

That was probably the dumbest, most rushed decision I've ever done in my life.

• 1:02:49Caleb Hammer?

And it's just two weeks ago, which makes me terrified that I'm going further from here because no one changes in two weeks. I'm sorry. We have changes over the course of a year, two years, but no one changes in two fucking weeks.

• 1:02:58Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:02:59Caleb Hammer?

  So.

• 1:03:00Speaker 03

I tried to talk sense into him and then he was like, yeah, I'll think about it. And then he was like, no, I'll just go do it.

• 1:03:04Speaker 04

Tried to talk sense to me. She sent me one text saying you can use the iPad.

• 1:03:07Speaker 03

And then I said, he should probably.

• 1:03:08Speaker 04

Which acknowledged by you, that would not have worked for the reuse case. But that was the only text she sent. That was it. Oh, and then she sent the text with the code for me to try her car.

• 1:03:18Speaker 03

  So that he could.

• 1:03:19Speaker 04

That was it. She's saying she fought back. She did not.

• 1:03:21Speaker 03

He needed the code so he could go ahead and make the purchase under my name.

• 1:03:24Caleb Hammer?

Here, here's another PlayStation, a separate PlayStation. Is this a new PlayStation?

• 1:03:28Speaker 04

  No, that's old.

• 1:03:29Caleb Hammer?

  Used PlayStation.

• 1:03:30Speaker 03

  That was his first.

• 1:03:32Speaker 04

  Is that one?

• 1:03:33Caleb Hammer?

I thought you never get yourself anything.

• 1:03:34Speaker 03

  Or no, was it?

• 1:03:35Speaker 04

I didn't get that for me. That's, um, the one, is that a firm still?

• 1:03:39Caleb Hammer?

I don't know, dude. These are screenshots.

• 1:03:41Speaker 04

That's Aaron's. That's the one my roommate got for me. They're paying that. That's not me. I'm not paying.

• 1:03:46Caleb Hammer?

Why do I have the statement? Okay.

• 1:03:48Speaker 04

Um, because it's in, it's in my name.

• 1:03:51Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, for.

• 1:03:52Speaker 04

But he has not missed a payment.

• 1:03:54Caleb Hammer?

Oh, I gotta put it on. I won't.

• 1:03:56Speaker 04

  Yeah, that's, that's fine.

• 1:03:57Caleb Hammer?

Minimum payment towards the total, but it's still in your fucking name.

• 1:03:59Speaker 04

Yeah, if he bails on it, it's.

• 1:04:01Caleb Hammer?

Why did he buy? Why? Why is he doing this?

• 1:04:03Speaker 04

Well, so I was gonna go cash flow myself a PlayStation at the time and then, um, she made an offhanded comment about how she wanted an Xbox Series X. So I spent that money on her Xbox and my friend felt bad, so he.

• 1:04:15Caleb Hammer?

Good fucking death. Still is a hundred two dollars and three cents.

• 1:04:20Speaker 04

Yeah. I believe it's two payments, I think.

• 1:04:24Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, monthly payment is seventy six dollars, eighty one cents, but I'm putting in parentheses, that's.

• 1:04:29Speaker 03

And he just sold the Xbox, so.

• 1:04:31Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, good. Okay.

• 1:04:34Speaker 03

  Crazy. Fucking crazy, man.

• 1:04:38Caleb Hammer?

Tell me this, what, what am I seeing? This is a lease agreement for something.

• 1:04:42Speaker 03

  That's probably the Xbox.

• 1:04:44Speaker 04

  Maybe.

• 1:04:44Caleb Hammer?

The Xbox comes next. The total, well, you, it was a cash price of a thousand one hundred twenty six, more than any Xbox I've ever seen. So.

• 1:04:53Speaker 04

Yeah, that was probably the Series X. Yeah.

• 1:04:56Caleb Hammer?

I have a Series X. I did not spend twelve hundred dollars.

• 1:04:58Speaker 04

Yeah, it's Aaron's. It's predatory as hell. Wait, wait till you get to the Aaron's that we almost got a divorce over. That's the.

• 1:05:04Caleb Hammer?

The, the, the, the, the Aaron's?

• 1:05:06Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:05:07Caleb Hammer?

  Well, what does that mean?

• 1:05:08Speaker 03

  There's more.

• 1:05:09Speaker 04

  There's more.

• 1:05:10Caleb Hammer?

  What is an Aaron?

• 1:05:11Speaker 03

  Oh, it's like a.

• 1:05:12Speaker 04

  Rent to own.

• 1:05:12Speaker 03

Like rent, like rent a center?

• 1:05:13Speaker 04

Fifty to seventy percent APR. It's great.

• 1:05:16Caleb Hammer?

Oh, with seventy percent loan on an Xbox?

• 1:05:20Speaker 04

Yeah, Aaron's is predatory. It's great.

• 1:05:23Caleb Hammer?

Predatory that you keep coming back to for the things you want.

• 1:05:25Speaker 04

No, that was all within a like three day thing.

• 1:05:27Caleb Hammer?

Predatory, I don't want to hear it. That you chose to do. Not anymore once we're done with it, but.

• 1:05:32Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:05:33Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, we'll see. I don't know. These statements, these statements scream you guys will be poor forever because your decisions.

• 1:05:38Speaker 04

Yeah, the difference is one of the errands we unironically almost got divorced over.

• 1:05:41Caleb Hammer?

The difference is you just went and affirmed a fucking laptop for a thousand two dollars and thirty percent interest. I don't want to hear it. It's not like behavior has dramatically changed by any means. Sure, we went from fifty percent interest to thirty. You're still getting absolutely fucked up the. Okay, so Xbox, great. Two hundred sixty-three dollars, thirty-seven cents remaining, monthly payment of eighty-seven, seventy-nine. Are you guys paying for this or is the other guy?

• 1:06:05Speaker 04

  Is us.

• 1:06:06Caleb Hammer?

  Let's. Okay.

• 1:06:07Speaker 04

Every, everything else, Aaron's is us. Just that one isn't.

• 1:06:12Caleb Hammer?

Fucking crazy. This is insane. This is like the final fucking boss episode again. We might call this the final boss again because this is absolutely insane. This is every debt that has ever existed. Lindsay, are we gonna do a fat stack week again? Cause we're fucking here. This is, this is insane. I don't know if we have enough for it, but I mean, just listen to that. And this is half the stack. That's half the stack!

• 1:06:39Caleb Hammer?

  Debt to friend.

• 1:06:40Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:06:41Caleb Hammer?

Why? If, for, why, when, where, how?

• 1:06:45Speaker 04

That's the wake up call, cause emergency fund would have really been nice at that point, cause our water heater blew up.

• 1:06:50Caleb Hammer?

  Is it seventy percent interest?

• 1:06:52Speaker 04

  Our water heater blew up.

• 1:06:54Caleb Hammer?

Your friend paid for your water heater?

• 1:06:55Speaker 04

So I paid what we had in our savings.

• 1:06:58Caleb Hammer?

  Which was?

• 1:06:58Speaker 04

Uh, six hundred and then I needed the other eleven hundred.

• 1:07:03Caleb Hammer?

  Your roommate?

• 1:07:04Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:07:05Caleb Hammer?

  Borrowing from your fucking tenant?

• 1:07:08Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 1:07:09Caleb Hammer?

You're borrowing from your tenant for a wa- water, hot water heater so that your tenant can have hot water?

• 1:07:15Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:07:16Caleb Hammer?

  That is insane.

• 1:07:18Speaker 04

That is the catalyst that started the meltdown.

• 1:07:21Caleb Hammer?

When was this? The beginning of the summer? So you still got a laptop after that, which would have, uh, paid him off.

• 1:08:25Caleb Hammer?

  That's disgusting.

• 1:08:26Speaker 04

  Yes, it is.

• 1:08:27Caleb Hammer?

  That is selfish.

• 1:08:29Speaker 03

Which he said, he was like, oh, you don't have to worry about paying me, like, pay me back.

• 1:08:32Speaker 04

Yeah, he's being very nice about it.

• 1:08:34Caleb Hammer?

Are you on a monthly thing with him? How does this work?

• 1:08:36Speaker 04

He wants us, so I'm going to do.

• 1:08:38Caleb Hammer?

How does he even trust you?

• 1:08:40Speaker 04

I'm going to do the snowball and he, I told him I was gonna put him towards the front and he said, just put me at the end. He's been very nice about it and I.

• 1:08:48Caleb Hammer?

Why does he trust you, based on anything you guys have ever done?

• 1:08:52Speaker 04

Cause I saved him from being homeless.

• 1:08:55Caleb Hammer?

You did a kind gesture, but how does he trust your finances?

• 1:08:58Speaker 04

Cause I've known him for like 15 years and he's, he knew me before the spiral. When I was financially stable.

• 1:09:06Caleb Hammer?

They don't know it's this bad.

• 1:09:08Speaker 04

Oh, they, he does, 100%. Yeah.

• 1:09:10Caleb Hammer?

  In detail?

• 1:09:12Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:09:13Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 1:09:14Speaker 04

Uh, cause I've known him for 15 years and he's who I talk to about everything. He's like my brother and I think he sees me the same way. He says he does, so.

• 1:09:21Caleb Hammer?

And he knows he went and got this laptop. He was like, fuck him, do it.

• 1:09:24Speaker 04

He's in my, he's in my D and D campaign.

• 1:09:26Speaker 03

  Whenever he bought it.

• 1:09:28Speaker 04

  He's in my D and D campaign.

• 1:09:30Caleb Hammer?

  Good.

• 1:09:31Speaker 04

  It's a dysfunctional, functional household.

• 1:09:33Caleb Hammer?

Who has 8,000 hours of student loans?

• 1:09:35Speaker 03

  That's me.

• 1:09:35Caleb Hammer?

  Are they federal?

• 1:09:37Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:09:38Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, for what?

• 1:09:39Speaker 03

When I was going to college.

• 1:09:44Caleb Hammer?

  For what?

• 1:09:45Speaker 03

I changed my major like four times, so I have-

• 1:09:47Caleb Hammer?

Did you get a degree? Okay, you dropped out.

• 1:09:50Speaker 03

Well, I was going, I was gonna, I was trying to finish my basics and then try to go for the nursing program, but then I didn't have the money to pay for the semester. So I couldn't, I can't go back until I pay the semester.

• 1:10:01Caleb Hammer?

What's your payment? A hundred bucks a month, your minimum?

• 1:10:03Speaker 03

Something like that, but, but those-

• 1:10:06Caleb Hammer?

But what, are you even paying them?

• 1:10:07Speaker 03

No, they just came out of forbearance, like four months ago.

• 1:10:10Speaker 04

And she didn't tell me about that?

• 1:10:11Caleb Hammer?

Why aren't you paying them if they just came out of forbearance four months ago?

• 1:10:15Speaker 04

Yeah, she didn't tell me, so it wasn't even in the budget. I found out when we were calling for the show.

• 1:10:20Caleb Hammer?

You know, they're about to be in default. Pretty damn quick, and the government will contact your employer, of which, trust me, they know who they are, and they will take your pay before it even hits your accounts, called garnishment.

• 1:10:31Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:10:32Caleb Hammer?

  That's what's gonna happen.

• 1:10:33Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:10:34Caleb Hammer?

So are we getting on the payment today?

• 1:10:36Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 1:10:37Caleb Hammer?

You likely will have a back payment of like 500 bucks or so.

• 1:10:40Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:10:40Speaker 03

  Yeah, I think it's like-

• 1:10:41Speaker 04

I had her look into it, and we get paid tomorrow, and we're jumping on it, because I did not know they were out of forlomen.

• 1:10:47Caleb Hammer?

I'm gonna assume it's a hundred dollar payment on a monthly basis, but you're gonna have to make up for it. I don't know how you're gonna pay for that makeup.

• 1:10:53Speaker 04

I ju- I just sold that Xbox when that money hit the account.

• 1:10:57Caleb Hammer?

Man, so we still owe on the Xbox, but-

• 1:11:00Speaker 04

I'm literally skinning my teeth in it, yes, but that is very important, and I didn't know it was out of forlomen, so I need to jump on that. So we're gonna skin of our teeth it for a little bit longer and hopefully get somewhere eventually.

• 1:11:12Speaker 03

But I was kinda hoping I could like start school back up and not have to worry about it.

• 1:11:16Caleb Hammer?

Why? Why is that always the excuse? That's for the laziest motherfuckers that are- Why? This is a hundred dollar payment.

• 1:11:24Caleb Hammer?

Go make money, start a career! You're a mother!

• 1:11:29Speaker 03

  Almost.

• 1:11:31Caleb Hammer?

Why, why is it go back to school to avoid a hundred dollar payment? So you're gonna balloon your debt even more, and then always defer it by going back to school endlessly? And now the student loans are different anyway, new student loans you take out or not is forgiven anymore. They're still very forgiving for us.

• 1:11:44Speaker 04

It's worse than that, because she already went back to school once. That's why they were in forlomen for so long.

• 1:11:50Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:11:51Speaker 04

Because she stopped going to school before I even met her. And then she went back once already, and I was like, yeah, she's gonna do it this time. And she made it a quarter of a semester, and just didn't go back again. And now she wants to do it again, so that's my trust issue, is like, why would, why would I pay this so you can go back just to not finish again?

• 1:12:08Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, it's a good question. Why?

• 1:12:11Speaker 03

I mean, I don't plan on trying to go. I say I wish I could go back. I don't have like immediate plans to go back or anything. I just.

• 1:12:17Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 1:12:18Speaker 04

  That's the same.

• 1:12:18Caleb Hammer?

They're telling me whatever next statement is. I need your phone or something? It's Star Card?

• 1:12:25Speaker 04

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, because we can't really get statements for that because it never loads and doesn't do anything right.

• 1:12:33Speaker 03

  We can't print them.

• 1:12:35Speaker 04

Because everything run by the government runs perfectly efficiently.

• 1:12:39Caleb Hammer?

  This is by the government?

• 1:12:41Speaker 04

Yeah, it's um, a installation only credit card for like their basic change and all that. And it's the worst thing in my life.

• 1:12:52Caleb Hammer?

Is that not known to be effective? That is true. Oh, and you have a second Star Card, but it's in collections. Why would they give you another one? What the fuck is that?

• 1:13:01Speaker 03

So this one is, this one is mine.

• 1:13:03Caleb Hammer?

And the collection one is his?

• 1:13:05Speaker 03

Before we even, before we even got together, that was his.

• 1:13:07Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 1:13:08Caleb Hammer?

Sake, what the are we doing? What the are we even doing? Okay, here we go.

• 1:13:15Speaker 03

Yeah, you can do whatever you need to on that.

• 1:13:17Caleb Hammer?

Screaming according to take it. Oh, my.

• 1:13:19Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:13:19Caleb Hammer?

  This is insane.

• 1:13:20Speaker 04

  Yeah, that one is aggressive.

• 1:13:22Caleb Hammer?

This is insane. How do we, how long, what the?

• 1:13:25Speaker 03

I haven't even had it a year yet.

• 1:13:26Caleb Hammer?

  3,500, huh?

• 1:13:27Speaker 04

No, it's been over a year.

• 1:13:28Speaker 03

Has it been over a year? I can't, yeah.

• 1:13:29Caleb Hammer?

Probably just. $3,596.90. What the is happening?

• 1:13:38Speaker 04

  So that is.

• 1:13:39Caleb Hammer?

Oh, this is, oh, this is the troop store, troop store, troop store.

• 1:13:43Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:13:44Caleb Hammer?

  Bull, bull, golf, dumb.

• 1:13:46Speaker 04

Like a crappy Walmart attached to a gas station. That's what the store is.

• 1:13:51Caleb Hammer?

What's the minimum monthly payment typically?

• 1:13:53Speaker 04

  Uh, it's 85, but I do 100 every.

• 1:13:56Caleb Hammer?

Well, I'll do 85 because I don't know why we put a little extra to it. That doesn't make any sense. That doesn't, that's not involved in any debt payoff strategy.

• 1:14:02Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:14:03Caleb Hammer?

Well, what the are we doing, man?

• 1:14:05Speaker 04

  Struggling. Say again.

• 1:14:07Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah, by choice.

• 1:14:08Speaker 04

Yes, it's by choice, but struggling.

• 1:14:10Caleb Hammer?

You guys used to use the Star Card to buy electronics?

• 1:14:13Speaker 04

  Everything.

• 1:14:14Caleb Hammer?

  That's switches and stuff?

• 1:14:15Speaker 04

  Yeah, everything.

• 1:14:16Speaker 03

  He bought him, he bought.

• 1:14:17Caleb Hammer?

  Government card.

• 1:14:18Speaker 03

  He bought a switch.

• 1:14:19Speaker 04

  No.

• 1:14:20Speaker 03

  For himself.

• 1:14:21Speaker 04

  Which, which I use.

• 1:14:22Speaker 03

He bought me an Apple Watch.

• 1:14:23Speaker 04

And then, yeah, her Apple Watch.

• 1:14:25Speaker 03

  He bought me a laptop.

• 1:14:26Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, guys.

• 1:14:29Speaker 04

That was the school laptop. It was a little $300 dinker that she doesn't use at all.

• 1:14:34Caleb Hammer?

Switches, Apple Watch TV, laptop, video game headsets, and other switch maybe. It's just.

• 1:14:40Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 1:14:41Caleb Hammer?

Okay, okay. Fucking crazy. Your guys' behavior, this is some of the most insane behavior I've ever seen in terms of spending. Tell me the collections, the Star Card collections.

• 1:14:54Speaker 04

So that one is fun. It's more of the same. And then it went to collections and they took our tax return to pay it off.

• 1:15:03Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah, because it's government, right?

• 1:15:04Speaker 04

Yeah, and it went down to $16 on it. Never told me, never called. I tried to call them, nothing. They never told me anything about it. And the next year, they took it again. Still didn't pay it off. Because apparently in that year of interest, it accrued back over what it was at. And so now it's back.

• 1:15:19Caleb Hammer?

Do you not check credit Karma or something?

• 1:15:21Speaker 04

It's not, it won't show up on there. I don't know why the Star Card will not show up on there. And when I try to call them.

• 1:15:27Caleb Hammer?

  Is it on your credit?

• 1:15:28Speaker 04

Yeah, it, it shows up, but it won't show me the amount, the, the balance updates like once a year.

• 1:15:35Caleb Hammer?

  So what's owed on it?

• 1:15:36Speaker 04

Um, right now, 1,800, I think, ish. Yeah, it just racks up so, so fast. And they're supposed to be low interest. That's their whole selling point. And then it went to collections and they're like, ah, no, it's like 800%.

• 1:15:48Caleb Hammer?

  Fishy about this, man.

• 1:15:48Speaker 04

Yeah, and when I try to call them, when it's a big balance, I'm like, hey, can I do a payment plan or something? They're like, we only take two payments or three. That's it. So I would have to do.

• 1:15:56Caleb Hammer?

  Get on that.

• 1:15:57Speaker 04

  Because it's like $900.

• 1:16:01Speaker 04

So I'm, I always try to push it off and try to justify it. I say, oh yeah, when I can afford that $900 every paycheck.

• 1:16:07Caleb Hammer?

  But yeah.

• 1:16:08Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:16:08Caleb Hammer?

  So we'll call it 600.

• 1:16:09Speaker 04

I'll try to justify it. Oh, I'll call back when I can afford it, but I, I never can. So I never call back. So that's been the big thorn in my side is how it keeps racking itself back up after our, and I can't get a hold of them after they take our tax return.

• 1:16:21Caleb Hammer?

So many sus things in this conversation, dude. I don't know. It's just, it's hard for me to fully.

• 1:16:27Speaker 04

That's fine. I don't expect you to believe me a hundred percent, but that's just my experience.

• 1:16:30Caleb Hammer?

Not a hundred percent believing. It's just like, I just don't know what's true, not as a lie, but as a, like what the [__] is going on? Not exaggeration. I just don't think we know what's going on here. And we don't have like statements.

• 1:16:42Speaker 04

  Yeah, I can't.

• 1:16:42Caleb Hammer?

We don't have statements to show.

• 1:16:43Speaker 04

I tried to print statements for the Star Cards so many times. It won't open.

• 1:16:47Caleb Hammer?

And again, if you're choosing not to do these like three payments, like 600 at the lowest, you're going and getting the $1,100.

• 1:16:54Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:16:54Caleb Hammer?

Laptop two weeks ago. So like sympathy out the door.

• 1:16:58Speaker 04

No, yeah, I'm not, I'm not expecting sympathy. It's just, I've been jumping through hoops for this damn Star Card for.

• 1:17:04Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, you could have finished it.

• 1:17:06Speaker 04

  I, I could have. Yeah.

• 1:17:07Caleb Hammer?

  Multiple times.

• 1:17:08Speaker 04

Yep. And I never look at it that way.

• 1:17:09Caleb Hammer?

You got that gaming PC in?

• 1:17:13Speaker 04

  December.

• 1:17:14Caleb Hammer?

Okay, that would have more than paid this off multiple times over.

• 1:17:16Speaker 04

But I didn't buy it. I mean, now it would have with the payments, but I mean, I didn't put anything towards it upfront. It wasn't.

• 1:17:22Caleb Hammer?

I know, but it still works. If you put the money aside.

• 1:17:26Speaker 04

That's, that's the problem is it's like, oh, well, we want this. Okay, cool. We'll pay exponentially more and waste our time for the next two years instead. And it just seems easier on paper. And then before you know it, you're getting railed from behind. It's great.

• 1:17:39Caleb Hammer?

So much more. Okay. Credit one indicative of having the worst finances imaginable.

• 1:17:44Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:17:45Speaker 03

  That's mine.

• 1:17:47Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 1:17:48Speaker 03

  Well, I don't use it. I got.

• 1:17:49Caleb Hammer?

Oh, it's maxed out. 490. You don't use it, but it's maxed out. Hmm. That's interesting.

• 1:17:53Speaker 03

  He uses it. I don't.

• 1:17:54Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, what the [__] Why?

• 1:17:55Speaker 04

  Yeah, that's a.

• 1:17:57Caleb Hammer?

Well, we swift swapped. That's like crazy.

• 1:17:59Speaker 04

Yeah, I can almost guarantee that one's all, uh, gas, food.

• 1:18:02Caleb Hammer?

Why credit one though, dude? And the cruise interest and fees like?

• 1:18:06Speaker 04

Oh, I because she applied for it and they gave it to her and she gave it to me.

• 1:18:11Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:11Speaker 04

And then I I didn't know the interest rate on it was insane.

• 1:18:15Caleb Hammer?

Twenty nine, but listen, it's at four hundred ninety dollars and That was gonna be like our four emergencies. Hundred eighteen dollars in fees this year so far.

• 1:18:23Speaker 04

  For it.

• 1:18:23Caleb Hammer?

Seventy seven dollars of interest, thirty dollar minimum monthly payment. Fucking crazy.

• 1:18:27Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:18:29Caleb Hammer?

Okay, Capital One, uh, Union Plus Credit Card.

• 1:18:33Speaker 04

  There's two of those.

• 1:18:34Caleb Hammer?

We I have one and he has one. Okay, who's this?

• 1:18:37Speaker 04

  Uh, what's the?

• 1:18:39Caleb Hammer?

Balance is four hundred ninety five dollars and six cents.

• 1:18:43Speaker 04

  That's mine.

• 1:18:46Speaker 04

  So I I think I got.

• 1:18:47Caleb Hammer?

Minimum monthly payment, twenty five dollars. Oh, we're still purchasing on a card that we cannot pay off that will take minimum monthly payments two years alone to do.

• 1:18:55Speaker 04

  What's the charge on it?

• 1:18:56Caleb Hammer?

I don't know. I'm about to find out. Interest, eleven dollars and forty nine cents is accruing. Why the are we spending on a card that we cannot even come close to paying off?

• 1:19:04Speaker 04

  I don't know if we're trying, because

• 1:19:06Caleb Hammer?

  It doesn't matter.

• 1:19:06Speaker 04

It might be my union auto. I can't turn that off. I've tried three times.

• 1:19:09Caleb Hammer?

Transfer it to a different divi- uh, to a different thing.

• 1:19:12Speaker 04

  Yeah, I'm I'm trying to.

• 1:19:13Caleb Hammer?

  AFGE local.

• 1:19:14Speaker 04

Yeah, that's the union and I've tried to cancel it. I've tried to transfer it, but our union is getting.

• 1:19:20Caleb Hammer?

Then tell the credit card not to accept this anymore.

• 1:19:22Speaker 04

I did now. I did. I promise. That's no, that's a whole problem because our union is going through a bunch of crap.

• 1:19:27Caleb Hammer?

Also, we've had a late fee this year.

• 1:19:29Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 1:19:30Caleb Hammer?

Thirty three dollars, seventy one cents of interest accrued.

• 1:19:32Speaker 04

Yeah, that's the the union thing. It's like our whole government crap is messing with the union, so I can't get a hold of anyone to like mess with my payment.

• 1:19:41Caleb Hammer?

We can't get a hold of anyone for anything.

• 1:19:42Speaker 04

With the government? No, zero percent chance.

• 1:19:45Caleb Hammer?

  This is.

• 1:19:45Speaker 04

Which is crazy because usually when they want your money, it's pretty easy.

• 1:19:48Caleb Hammer?

Twenty seven point four nine percent interest on this. Okay, now you're Union Plus. Yeah. Okay, you owe three hundred, six dollars, sixty three cents. The limit's three. You're over the limit. You're over. What are we doing? This is just you're hitting every Financial milestone you could possibly hit thirty five, twenty five dollar minimum monthly payment. Yeah, you purchased, it was at three hundred sixty dollars, you were already over. And then after you made a payment, you purchased thirty dollars, ninety eight cents.

• 1:20:18Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:20:18Caleb Hammer?

Then interest grew to seven dollars and five cents, pushing you well over.

• 1:20:21Speaker 03

So I had like subscriptions like YouTube and stuff like that, but I-

• 1:20:24Caleb Hammer?

Why is it on the credit card?

• 1:20:25Speaker 03

I took those off, so they're not on there anymore.

• 1:20:27Caleb Hammer?

I'm glad everyone's done everything, the statement right before coming on the show where their finances are gonna be criticized. Who would've thought? But yes, it's Apple.

• 1:20:35Speaker 04

Well, that wasn't even moved over in preparation for the show.

• 1:20:37Speaker 03

  Yeah, I know.

• 1:20:38Speaker 04

It was moved over to the joint account, because it's under bills.

• 1:20:40Speaker 03

  Yeah, so it's just my-

• 1:20:41Caleb Hammer?

  It's just happened.

• 1:20:42Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:20:43Caleb Hammer?

Twenty seven point four nine percent interest rate.

• 1:20:45Speaker 04

We just got the joint account.

• 1:20:46Speaker 03

Yeah, so he put it as a bill instead of a-

• 1:20:49Caleb Hammer?

When did the joint account and allowance start?

• 1:20:51Speaker 03

  Last month.

• 1:20:52Speaker 04

Couple of weeks ago, yeah, yeah.

• 1:20:54Caleb Hammer?

Oh, great. This is just collections, collections, collections, collections, it looks like. No, well, open, open. Okay, yeah. So two hundred, is this all collections? Who's credit karma screenshot is this?

• 1:21:05Speaker 03

  Yeah, that's mine.

• 1:21:06Caleb Hammer?

  Are they all collections?

• 1:21:07Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:21:08Caleb Hammer?

What the, why? Why just so many collections?

• 1:21:11Speaker 04

No, that's, that's mine. Because it says ally right there.

• 1:21:13Caleb Hammer?

  Are they all collections?

• 1:21:15Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 1:21:16Caleb Hammer?

  Why so many collections?

• 1:21:18Speaker 04

Because I haven't touched anything credit wise in years.

• 1:21:20Caleb Hammer?

Crazy. Two thousand five hundred eighty eight dollars in collections. And I assume you're not on any payment plans for those.

• 1:21:26Speaker 04

  No.

• 1:21:27Caleb Hammer?

Okay, who has a twenty nineteen Toyota Camry?

• 1:21:29Speaker 03

  That's mine.

• 1:21:30Caleb Hammer?

Well, it's a fourteen, or twelve percent interest rate. Oh, it's crazy for your guys' income situation.

• 1:21:37Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 1:21:38Caleb Hammer?

It's a twenty six thousand one hundred fifty two dollar balance. For your guys' income situation for one car is rough, man. What do you think it's worth?

• 1:21:46Speaker 04

I think it was around eighteen thousand.

• 1:21:48Caleb Hammer?

Just about, yeah. So we're underwater.

• 1:21:51Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:21:52Caleb Hammer?

Twenty six thousand one hundred fifty two dollars, thirty eight cents, twelve percent interest rate, minimum monthly payment, stacking up like crazy. Good luck making a budget at the end of this, we'll see. Five hundred seventy nine dollars and thirty eight cents.

• 1:22:07Caleb Hammer?

  Crazy.

• 1:22:08Speaker 04

That's, that's the less crazy vehicle.

• 1:22:10Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, mine. Of course it is. Great. Can't wait. Thrilled. Okay, what's this next car?

• 1:22:16Speaker 04

  That is the crazy.

• 1:22:17Caleb Hammer?

Ford F-150, of course. You need it for going to work.

• 1:22:20Speaker 04

We can have this. I use it for work.

• 1:22:23Caleb Hammer?

  What?

• 1:22:24Speaker 04

I do maintenance. I have to move around all my materials.

• 1:22:27Caleb Hammer?

  And there's no work vehicles.

• 1:22:28Speaker 04

There's one to share between all of the maintenance.

• 1:22:31Caleb Hammer?

  There you go.

• 1:22:31Speaker 04

  But.

• 1:22:32Caleb Hammer?

So let's not justify getting a car.

• 1:22:34Speaker 04

It's not like I can go buy a Toyota Corolla.

• 1:22:37Speaker 03

Yeah, he doesn't fit in cars.

• 1:22:39Speaker 04

At all whatsoever. And I have, I have a fake knee.

• 1:22:42Caleb Hammer?

It's not like truck cabins are the largest things in the world, though.

• 1:22:45Speaker 04

I have room. I can sprawl out. I can put my legs straight when I need to.

• 1:22:48Caleb Hammer?

Some SUVs have big room, too.

• 1:22:50Speaker 04

I tried that. So I went to six dealerships in our town, every single one, and four dealerships in the town 45 minutes away. The only dealership that would approve me is that one, and they had that and a minivan. And I tried to do the minivan, but I did not fit in any way.

• 1:23:05Caleb Hammer?

Well, yo, $27,128.45 with minimum monthly payment, which is absolutely disgusting for your household, but we're justifying it to death. $742.19.

• 1:23:17Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 1:23:17Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, it's worth $24,000. So we're underwater on both.

• 1:23:23Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:23:23Caleb Hammer?

Also, this is interesting. I mean, you told Lindsay that you got turned down for a $9,000 car. How'd you get magically approved for this one?

• 1:23:29Speaker 04

I got turned down at the dealership where they had like buy here, pay here, $10,000.

• 1:23:33Caleb Hammer?

  21% interest rate.

• 1:23:35Speaker 04

Yes, that's why I said that's the egregious one. Yes.

• 1:23:39Caleb Hammer?

  Sake.

• 1:23:39Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:23:42Speaker 04

You can give me the line, sell it, get something different. I can't get approved anywhere else. That is the only dealership that approved me for anything.

• 1:23:49Caleb Hammer?

Once we clean up our credit, maybe we will.

• 1:23:52Speaker 04

Yes, once, once it's cleaned up 100%, I will go get the crappiest Ford Ranger built in 1492. That's fine. But as of right now, I will die on the hill to that truck is all I had.

• 1:24:03Speaker 04

I would not have made it here for this if not for that truck. I cannot be in a, in a car car like her car. I can't drive it more than 10 minutes. No.

• 1:24:11Speaker 03

  Barely.

• 1:24:12Speaker 04

Nope. Uh, economy plus, maybe if I sit like fetal position and cry the whole way, maybe.

• 1:24:17Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, it sounds like you can't do anything.

• 1:24:19Speaker 04

  The story of my life.

• 1:24:21Caleb Hammer?

Uh, okay. This is the mortgage. What's your house worth?

• 1:24:24Speaker 03

  A one thirty four.

• 1:24:25Speaker 04

I think Zillow says one thirty two, one thirty six around there.

• 1:24:29Caleb Hammer?

Little equity position. Okay. Then Zillow's usually a little over zealous.

• 1:24:34Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:24:34Caleb Hammer?

Ninety six thousand, seven hundred and ninety dollars and fifty cents. I love the three percent rate.

• 1:24:39Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:24:40Caleb Hammer?

  What's the monthly payment?

• 1:24:41Speaker 04

  Uh, nine, twelve, thirty two.

• 1:24:44Caleb Hammer?

Very curious to see how this.

• 1:24:46Speaker 04

It was, it was six fifty, but every year it's just going up.

• 1:24:49Speaker 03

  Jumps up, yeah.

• 1:24:50Caleb Hammer?

Okay, I think we actually finally made it through the debt, did we?

• 1:24:52Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 1:24:52Caleb Hammer?

  We used.

• 1:24:54Speaker 05

• 1:25:19Caleb Hammer?

I'll read a ledger on my spreadsheet.

• 1:25:23Speaker 04

  Did we?

• 1:25:27Caleb Hammer?

  There's more collections.

• 1:25:28Speaker 04

  Wait, yeah, so.

• 1:25:29Caleb Hammer?

  I have more credit cards.

• 1:25:30Speaker 04

Yeah, I don't know where her, her collections sheet is. It should have been in there. Cause that was only my credit karma.

• 1:25:35Speaker 03

That's why I thought that one was mine, cause I thought it was.

• 1:25:38Speaker 04

  Yeah, I don't know, cause I sent.

• 1:25:40Caleb Hammer?

But why don't I have it?

• 1:25:41Speaker 04

I, I sent in the screenshot she sent me of her credit karma. I'm pretty sure.

• 1:25:47Caleb Hammer?

  Lindsay's gonna read them.

• 1:25:49Speaker 07

Uh, so we have her two payday loans that she stopped paying on. One for thirteen hundred, the other one for eight hundred dollars. He also has a payday loan. For about two hundred dollars.

• 1:26:02Caleb Hammer?

In collections or he has it?

• 1:26:04Speaker 07

  Oh, it's in collections.

• 1:26:05Speaker 04

Yeah, it should have been on that credit card.

• 1:26:07Speaker 03

  Yeah, I don't.

• 1:26:08Speaker 07

So then she has two Capital One cards that are both in collections. She has a GameStop card that's in collections for six hundred and twenty dollars. A JCPenney card in collections, six hundred and fifty-five dollars. She had to open that because there was a watch she really wanted. And she couldn't afford to pay cash for it at the time, so opening that card made sense. She also owes Bryson almost three thousand dollars. She had a phone, a backup phone, a tablet and a watch, and she just stopped paying on that. Then she has a one thousand, one hundred fourteen dollar collection for a debt consolidation. Yeah.

• 1:26:50Caleb Hammer?

No, I'm like, fuck, I don't even know, guys. You're just, this is so bad. You guys just have everything.

• 1:26:57Speaker 04

Al- almost all of that was pre-relationship.

• 1:27:00Caleb Hammer?

  I don't give a [bleep]. I don't care.

• 1:27:07Caleb Hammer?

And why does it even matter if it is? Look at the debt you guys have accumulated during your relationship. It's not like, oh, so much better now. It's like.

• 1:27:15Speaker 03

I'm like, I have the affirm too. I just, I don't know why it wasn't in there either, but.

• 1:27:18Caleb Hammer?

  You have an additional affirm?

• 1:27:20Speaker 04

  In collections.

• 1:27:20Speaker 03

  Like I have my own.

• 1:27:21Speaker 04

The one that got her banned from it.

• 1:27:24Caleb Hammer?

  Can die.

• 1:27:26Caleb Hammer?

And a balance checking account, fifty-two dollars. Uh, Winnie got some BS, Gus McDonald's Chinese restaurant.

• 1:27:33Speaker 04

  Yeah, that's her.

• 1:27:33Caleb Hammer?

United Cash App, going and getting some BS, getting some BS, Sonic Drive-In, getting some BS, McDonald's, McDonald's, getting some BS. Good, good luck, guys. Uh, getting some BS, United, getting some BS, get- getting some BS, getting some BS, getting some BS, getting some BS, getting some BS, getting some BS, McDonald's, Cash App, Brom Store, Taco Bell, getting some BS, Brom Store. Getting some BS, getting some BS, Cash App, about fifty-five dollars, [bleep] off.

• 1:28:10Caleb Hammer?

Time, I use their high yield savings account, so I do like them, but I mean, this is just like, what the is this? You ended with zero dollars.

• 1:28:17Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:28:18Caleb Hammer?

  We're even doing.

• 1:28:18Speaker 04

  Yeah, I left.

• 1:28:19Caleb Hammer?

Oh, you got lovely little pay advance and pay advance and cash app now and pay advance, because he's so good, because everything was so bad before the relationship, like that fucking matters. Look what we're doing now. We're paying advancing. Now pay advancing, actually, you can use it in a leveraged way that is actually good, but I know with the way you can do it, it's absolutely.

• 1:28:36Speaker 04

Well, so, so I did, I did originally, and then I got stuck in the cycle.

• 1:28:39Caleb Hammer?

  That's how it happens.

• 1:28:40Speaker 04

Now I have to use it again and again and again.

• 1:28:42Caleb Hammer?

No, because you weren't using it properly, or else you wouldn't have gotten stuck in a cycle. There'd be no cycle if you're using it correctly. I don't want to hear it. Winning got some BS, winning got some BS, Fred Steaks House, went cash app out $617, pay advance, Spotify, Steam purchase, great, never get things for myself, pay advance $92, pay advance $139, but thank goodness we're going and getting a video game, Little Caesar's, pay advance, crunchy roll, lick your Pizza Hut, pay advance, getting some BS, pay advance $140, I'm gonna die. What is the point? Time, ending with $752. Oh, it's his credit builder card.

• 1:29:25Speaker 04

Yeah, the credit builder card on time.

• 1:29:26Caleb Hammer?

  Huh? Oh.

• 1:29:27Speaker 04

Yeah. So like all the, most of the transfers back and forth are between those two cards.

• 1:29:31Caleb Hammer?

BS, BS, I'm gonna fucking die.

• 1:29:35Caleb Hammer?

Okay, what is KC2 distribution distributors?

• 1:29:38Speaker 04

  That's the cigarettes.

• 1:29:39Caleb Hammer?

Cigarettes, cigarettes, cigarettes, McDonald's, going to get into BS, cigarettes, McDonald's, getting to BS, BS, cigarettes, BS, BS, BS, McDonald's, Fred Steaks House, BS, Strickland Brothers, BS, BS, Sonny's.

• 1:29:59Caleb Hammer?

Death. 763 in this account. I don't even know. Transferring back and forth, it looks like. Spot me. Great, wonderful.

• 1:30:07Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:30:08Caleb Hammer?

$99 in there. Kill me now. Cash app, $0, wonderful. Money came in, money went out. Cash app being sent, cash app going out.

• 1:30:18Caleb Hammer?

  Ridiculous. SoFi.

• 1:30:20Speaker 04

That's the new joint account we just opened.

• 1:30:23Caleb Hammer?

Personally, I moved on from them. I wouldn't recommend.

• 1:30:25Speaker 04

  Oh, really? Okay.

• 1:30:26Caleb Hammer?

Ah, it's just the, the way you get access to your money can be a bit funky in SoFi, so.

• 1:30:30Speaker 04

  I did not.

• 1:30:31Caleb Hammer?

They made it harder and harder. They were good at one point. They made it harder and harder.

• 1:30:34Speaker 04

Okay, yeah, I just went for the, the first one that had good reviews and all that, so I wasn't sure.

• 1:30:40Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, plus their interest rates are low compared to like Chime and stuff now.

• 1:30:44Speaker 03

Yeah, we all had Chime at one point, but, and I was using the SpotMe and then.

• 1:30:46Speaker 04

Yeah, we all transferred off of it because we were just habitually abusing the SpotMe.

• 1:30:50Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, if you're abusing that, then you certainly can't use it.

• 1:30:53Speaker 04

  Yeah, so we.

• 1:30:54Caleb Hammer?

It's only good for those who can.

• 1:30:55Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:30:56Caleb Hammer?

Okay, 4,600 comes in on a monthly basis. Good luck us doing this budget. Debt alone, $2,359.56. Also, basically, nope, yep, half of our entire income. Great. Add in the mortgage. Now, mortgage alone, $912.32. What is our utilities? Gas, electric, trash, blah, blah, blah, internet, all that combined. What's our utilities?

• 1:31:19Speaker 04

  Um, it's a total of 472.

• 1:31:25Caleb Hammer?

Gas, vroom, vroom, drive, drive for both of you combined.

• 1:31:28Speaker 04

  It's, uh, 210 a month.

• 1:31:30Caleb Hammer?

  Car insurances.

• 1:31:32Speaker 04

  Uh, 200 a month.

• 1:31:34Caleb Hammer?

  Phone bill?

• 1:31:35Speaker 03

  270 a month.

• 1:31:38Caleb Hammer?

  Groceries, okay.

• 1:31:40Speaker 04

  600.

• 1:31:40Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah, 600, 300 a paycheck.

• 1:31:42Speaker 04

  300 a paycheck.

• 1:31:42Caleb Hammer?

600, this should be fine. TP fund, I'm gonna say about 150. I gotta keep you a bit lean here. Healthcare, medical, copays, anything? What do we got?

• 1:31:51Speaker 04

All comes out of the, out of our pay before.

• 1:31:54Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah, copays, though.

• 1:31:55Speaker 04

  Um, no, because she has.

• 1:31:57Caleb Hammer?

Medications, copays, therapy, okay. Okay, gym? Do we have a gym?

• 1:32:01Speaker 04

  Uh, free.

• 1:32:02Caleb Hammer?

  Good. Subscriptions, I'll fry, $20.

• 1:32:06Speaker 04

Yeah, we, we only have YouTube for subscriptions. It's premium for the kids and us.

• 1:32:11Speaker 03

Uh, we have two dogs and a cat.

• 1:32:14Caleb Hammer?

  Ages and health?

• 1:32:15Speaker 04

  Uh, one is around 13.

• 1:32:17Caleb Hammer?

Okay, not that one. The other two?

• 1:32:19Speaker 03

It was like 13. She'll have, she's like.

• 1:32:21Speaker 04

  Jinx is.

• 1:32:21Speaker 03

Nine, five, and then the cat's like three.

• 1:32:23Speaker 04

  Jinx is four.

• 1:32:24Caleb Hammer?

Okay, for the five and three-year-old, how's their health?

• 1:32:27Speaker 04

  Good.

• 1:32:27Caleb Hammer?

Okay, get pet insurance. I'm gonna say 50 bucks for both. How much for pet food on a monthly basis?

• 1:32:31Speaker 04

  Um, we buy.

• 1:32:34Speaker 04

  Seventy-five, sixty-five, seventy-five, yeah.

• 1:32:37Caleb Hammer?

Call seventy-five. Anything else that needs to be in your budget, speak now.

• 1:32:42Speaker 04

I've, I've watched enough to know that I can't say cigarettes, so no.

• 1:32:45Caleb Hammer?

Well, no, I'm not gonna sentence you to death, really.

• 1:32:49Speaker 04

  I'll work on it.

• 1:32:50Caleb Hammer?

Four thousand six hundred comes in, great. What you need is five thousand two hundred sixty-eight dollars and eighty-eight cents on a minimum monthly basis.

• 1:32:57Speaker 04

Well, we have the, the roommates and I'm trying for the.

• 1:32:59Caleb Hammer?

Oh, yes. How much comes in with the roommates ones leaving after that?

• 1:33:02Speaker 04

After that, nine hundred a month.

• 1:33:04Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so that is going to leave you with.

• 1:33:08Speaker 04

And I, I did just get a promo, or not a promotion, um, just a pay increase.

• 1:33:13Caleb Hammer?

Well, you're gonna have wiggle room of about two hundred thirty-one dollars now with the roommate thing and hope that other one doesn't leave. Okay, well, I mean, with that, I mean, the bad debt alone for the seventy-two thousand dollars of bad debt, two hundred thirty-one dollars, that takes a three hundred eleven months to pay off. Or twenty-five years. So here's what I'm doing. Credit's already.

• 1:33:37Caleb Hammer?

Change your behavior for three months, work on a budget together. Again, use the Dollar Was, uh, uh, thing, go through the budgeting class, go through the debt class, go through the beginners class, go through all them, you get them for free. Use the budgeting app, you get the premium version for free. Change your behavior for two to three months, where you guys are, sit down, you're budgeting, you're showing, just like, stop even paying on the debts. Show that you guys can budget in life. Obviously pay on the mortgage and car.

• 1:34:01Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:34:02Caleb Hammer?

Pay on life, that you can budget, a very conservative budget, and you can be strict, and you can cut back on the bull and stop going out. Then, after you do that for three months, bankruptcy.

• 1:34:14Speaker 04

Yeah, I was, I was looking at that, but I didn't.

• 1:34:16Caleb Hammer?

  Bankruptcy at this point.

• 1:34:17Speaker 04

  Go into it blind.

• 1:34:18Caleb Hammer?

It costs a few thousand bucks, it can definitely be stressful in a relationship, but do it. But if you do not change your behavior beforehand, here, I'm gonna sit down with you in two years and you'll be in the same situation again. So change your behavior for three months, then go through bankruptcy, your credit's already, so it doesn't even matter. Hey, you're credible for like seven to ten years. But you already have a mortgage, you don't plan on moving for like fifteen years anyway, so we can go through this and that will set you up for a better future. All right, guys, make sure you come to the post show. I'm gonna give their hammer financial score, but make sure you come to the post show. There's always more to talk about and we'll go through all this just extra that we didn't have a chance to, it's crazy. Uh, but hammer financial score, spending your budget, what you ever spent, zero out of ten.

• 1:35:00Caleb Hammer?

Debt, well, you have collections, zero out of 10. Emergency fund, I didn't see anything in savings, zero out of 10. Retirement, dramatically buying, two out of 10. Real estate, um, we do have an equity position. It's the thing we don't like. I don't like that it's under 1,500 square feet for a deattached, single-family home that maybe we might want to sell. And it doesn't sound like it's in great position, but we have an equity position. Do like the interest rate. I'll give you a seven out of 10 for there. That is going to help your score for sure.

• 1:35:24Speaker 04

That's the only reason I said one.

• 1:35:25Caleb Hammer?

Man, Hammer Financial Score rounded up, two out of 10. Guys, join Hammer Elite. Hit that join button and join us for the post-show, ladies and gentlemen. Cassie has a secret debt behind his back that he doesn't even know about. What the do you have?

• 1:35:47Speaker 03

I borrow money from my Nana.

• 1:35:49Speaker 04

Thought we weren't dealing with your grandma anymore.

• 1:35:52Speaker 03

I, she just gives me money like if I need it. So I just borrow money and pay her back.

• 1:35:56Speaker 04

Is she gonna screw us on taxes again?

• 1:35:58Caleb Hammer?

What? Well, how much are you borrowing from grandma?

• 1:36:00Speaker 03

  It's like dollars.

• 1:36:02Caleb Hammer?

Well, why? And he doesn't even know this.

• 1:36:07Caleb Hammer?

You know what she wants to do, guys? Says she discussed it with you. She wants everything to come into one account and then give you two allowances. The one who makes no money handing out allowances. That's, that's not where I was thinking.

• 1:36:18Speaker 03

Yeah, I told you that before.

• 1:36:24Caleb Hammer?

And you guys talked about bringing in a second dick. It would get more affordable.

• 1:36:28Speaker 03

Just a penis. It'd be a loved penis.

• 1:36:37Caleb Hammer?

  Is this you guys again?

• 1:36:38Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:36:38Caleb Hammer?

Wow, okay, everything is done. I don't have any credit cards open. Why don't you want to come into this? Do you just want to combine so that we have for income?

• 1:36:50Caleb Hammer?

Already just hearing this conversation, Alice, so far. Are you not nervous to get involved on this on a deeper level? Caleb, you mind if I take a second? Okay, you guys. Take a second. Thank you.

• 1:36:59Speaker 03

  He's probably gonna need time.

• 1:37:01Caleb Hammer?

Well, before he comes back on?

• 1:37:02Speaker 03

He's very angry and he's going to hold a lot of anger specifically at me.

• 1:37:06Caleb Hammer?

How does that usually, what usually happens then?

• 1:37:09Speaker 03

  He's gonna shut down.

• 1:37:21Speaker 08
