#134 - Katie Nolan

Katie Nolan joins the pod to discuss her sports podcast CASUALS, being a bar mitzvah dancer, her house getting egged a lot as a kid, getting her start grinding it out on YouTube, whether the Patriots had a dynasty monkey paw wish that they're now paying for with Bill Belichick's post-retirement updates, and much more. Katie and Stav help callers including a woman who's turned off after finding her older boyfriend's cringey old social media posts, and a guy who's uncomfortable with his hot mother-in-law insisting on him calling her mom. Welcome, everybody, to Stavvy's World. 904-800-Stav. Call in to solve all your problems. We are joined today, Katie Nolan. Thank you for being here, Katie. Thank you for being here. Casuals is out. Casuals, I did it. I'm serious right now. Listen to it. Great show. Thanks. Sorry for you. I was the first guest, and it was after a Ravens' loss. And I have felt bad about this since where I was like, I didn't realize I probably shouldn't have just really cursed a lot from the jump. It's not true. I was like, fuck, I mean, every word. It helped me.

• 2:10Speaker 03

It helped me because I had been debating with Sirius about cursing and they were like, "Oh, you know, just try to not." I was like, "Totally, totally." And then we had our first guest fall through. You came in huge for me.

• 2:23Stavros Halkias?

Yes, I was happy to, I was happy to.

• 2:25Speaker 03

And after a devastating loss and you just blew the doors off it.

• 2:30Stavros Halkias?

  I couldn't, yeah.

• 2:30Speaker 03

And so now, and then the episode did well. So I got to go like, "Hey, Sirius, I'm gonna, "I won't curse this much, probably ever again."

• 2:39Stavros Halkias?

  Right, right, right, right, right.

• 2:40Speaker 03

Look, the whole point is about the authenticity of fandom. So I thought it was perfect.

• 2:44Stavros Halkias?

  Thank you.

• 2:44Speaker 03

  Don't feel bad.

• 2:45Stavros Halkias?

Okay, great, great, great. But I did and I, it was, it was, I was over the top even for like me because I was so mad. We had just lost in the playoffs. But, um,

• 2:55Speaker 03

  Tough timing.

• 2:56Stavros Halkias?

It was tough, but you know, I think that makes good, that makes for good, you know?

• 2:59Speaker 03

We certainly milked you for all the content that we could.

• 3:02Stavros Halkias?

  I really was.

• 3:02Speaker 03

Just squeezed it out of you.

• 3:04Stavros Halkias?

  I was the sorrow cow.

• 3:05Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 3:05Stavros Halkias?

And you just were sucking on my udders.

• 3:11Stavros Halkias?

Uh huh, yeah, thanks for coming, Katie.

• 3:13Speaker 03

  Yeah, thanks for having me.

• 3:14Stavros Halkias?

And so you, you've done a bunch of, I mean, I've been a, I've been, I'm, I'm kind of having a tough one right now because I haven't dr- I was not drinking for like a year and a half. And it was no like hard and fast. It was just like I wanted to be healthier and

• 3:28Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 3:28Stavros Halkias?

yesterday was so nice in New York.

• 3:30Speaker 03

  It was.

• 3:31Stavros Halkias?

I was strolling around. I'm in, I'm in shorts and a Hawaiian. I bump into some friends.

• 3:36Speaker 03

  Oh, you day drank.

• 3:37Stavros Halkias?

And I, I, it was not, it was like, they caught me at, I was, I was walking around during the day and then I went back into the city around like seven-ish, um, looking at a bunch of apartments. So I've been like all over New York. And I have turned it into something kind of fun, but, so I got drunk for the first time because I was basically like, what am I doing? It's one time. I, I really don't have an alcohol problem. Like I have a weed and, and like Cinnabon problem. I don't like booze, I could honestly have, like, I don't feel the desire. It wasn't like it kickstarted like, "I gotta get fucked up all day." Uh, but I am definitely sluggish. I did that classic come home, you know, come home too late. And then should go to bed, just sit on the couch and just like,

• 4:20Stavros Halkias?

Wake up at three seventeen AM and then you're like, well, let's see what we got in the kitchen. There's no reason to go.

• 4:26Speaker 03

  Terrible.

• 4:26Stavros Halkias?

I'm up now, so I made a disgusting little, uh, I made a disgusting little, uh, sandwich out of whatever I had, which was canned sardines, like.

• 4:36Speaker 03

  Oh, my god.

• 4:37Stavros Halkias?

Spreadable, no, no, I'm sorry, anchovies.

• 4:39Speaker 03

  I mean, same.

• 4:40Stavros Halkias?

Saltier, I don't know if you.

• 4:42Speaker 03

I didn't know the difference, but now I do.

• 4:43Stavros Halkias?

I was not a big anchovy guy.

• 4:45Speaker 03

I like the way you say it.

• 4:46Stavros Halkias?

I was not a big anchovy guy?

• 4:48Speaker 03

  Anchovy.

• 4:48Stavros Halkias?

  Oh, maybe, I didn't know.

• 4:49Speaker 03

  John, John Anchovy.

• 4:51Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, should I say anch?

• 4:53Speaker 03

No, you're right, you're right. I say anchovy, but I, that's, I'm unfamiliar with the.

• 4:58Stavros Halkias?

Interesting, not a big canned fish girl?

• 5:00Speaker 03

I'm not a tin fish gal, no.

• 5:01Stavros Halkias?

  Really?

• 5:01Speaker 03

Dan and I went to a concert once in Brooklyn and then after wanted to get food and walked over to this place that had great ratings. We were like, hey, we were looking for some food and the guy was like, we do exclusively tinned fish?

• 5:13Stavros Halkias?

  It's a restaurant?

• 5:14Speaker 03

And Dan and I were like, what's the point of this?

• 5:17Stavros Halkias?

It's a restaurant? That opens up cans?

• 5:20Speaker 03

You just, yeah, right, do I have to pop it open myself? What the hell? It was wild.

• 5:25Stavros Halkias?

  Exclusively?

• 5:26Speaker 03

Yeah, exclusively tinned fish, that's it. But different types, different varieties, appetizer size or entree.

• 5:32Stavros Halkias?

Honestly, you said that, Eldessa's eyes lit up.

• 5:34Speaker 04

What's the, what, what is it called?

• 5:36Speaker 03

I can find it, I'm sure I can find it, if it's still in business, this was a couple of years ago, and I can't imagine it's a profitable model.

• 5:42Stavros Halkias?

I don't know, I mean, if you up, if, I kind of respect it because tin fish costs a certain, like, let's say it costs four bucks, or like the, the high end one, right? Sell it for seven, you're in a fucking restaurant.

• 5:52Speaker 03

  Already done.

• 5:52Stavros Halkias?

Kind of smart, I respect them.

• 5:54Speaker 04

I spent like a hundred dollars on four cans of tin fish in LA on the tour at like some fancy little place, they like, they got me, I got one of them and she started talking about how good all the others were, I'm like, I gotta get these for the bus.

• 6:06Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 6:06Speaker 03

Upsell, she upsold your pants off, yeah.

• 6:09Stavros Halkias?

Oh, he's the sucker, I mean, this guy.

• 6:11Speaker 03

Don't they all taste the same, like a salty little sh- shlever of fish?

• 6:14Stavros Halkias?

  No, no.

• 6:15Speaker 03

No, they're, you can taste the difference.

• 6:17Speaker 04

  You got tomato sauce.

• 6:18Speaker 03

  It's a mackerel.

• 6:19Stavros Halkias?

Wi- without question, anchovies taste, they're, okay, I thought they were disgusting, right?

• 6:23Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 6:23Stavros Halkias?

I think we're, we're of the same generation where it was like, the, I think.

• 6:27Speaker 03

  Cartoon joke.

• 6:28Stavros Halkias?

  Cartoon joke, the ninja turtle.

• 6:30Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 6:30Stavros Halkias?

Anchovies. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that ru- to this day ruined them for me. And then on tires, I had to eat, there's a scene where I have to eat something disgusting.

• 6:40Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 6:40Stavros Halkias?

And, uh, and so what they did was they put like anchovies with like, um, with fucking, with some kind of chi- it was actually kind of, they had like a, uh, expensive cheese. They put like brie or some shit. And, um, it was supposed to look like a weird fucked up delicacy for, you know, my character. He's like, it's all he has is tin fish essentially, uh, to show that I'm in rock bottom. And I was like, oh, this is gross. I was like, I don't even want this. I was like, guys, we can have this, but like, can you also get me some other shit that I'll actually eat? Cause I don't want this. So I made them get chicken nuggets and fries with the anchovies and shit. And then I, they were like, can you just take one bite of the anchovies? And I was like.

• 7:18Speaker 03

  And you loved it.

• 7:18Stavros Halkias?

  This is fucking incredible.

• 7:20Speaker 03

They're like little salty and they melt.

• 7:23Stavros Halkias?

  Salt.

• 7:23Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh, the first time I had like a homemade Caesar dressing where they use it and you're at first, you're like, I don't want the anchovies. But if you power through it and you actually just taste it, you're like, oh, it's just like a salty little sliver of flavor. Yeah, it's nice.

• 7:38Stavros Halkias?

So you're not, so you, it sounds like, I don't mean to kind of put you on blast immediately. You kind of change your colors quick on tin fish.

• 7:45Speaker 03

I just, but you're never gonna catch me waking up at three fifteen.

• 7:49Stavros Halkias?

  That's fair.

• 7:49Speaker 03

And eating them out of a can.

• 7:51Stavros Halkias?

In my defense, I had nothing.

• 7:53Speaker 03

What else was on the sandwich?

• 7:55Stavros Halkias?

It was like that spreadable, like not baby bell, but a different type of that laughing cow cheese.

• 8:01Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 8:02Stavros Halkias?

And I had this old freezer bread that was like, it's like a health bread. It's called Ezekiel bread.

• 8:08Speaker 03

  Yeah, I've heard of that.

• 8:09Stavros Halkias?

So I, I mean, I had no, cause I have, I've been on tour and I'm also trying to eat healthy. So there's no good snacks here.

• 8:14Speaker 03

  That's for the best.

• 8:15Stavros Halkias?

And, uh, yes, it is. And that's, that's really all it was. It was a, it was an open faced laughing cow anchovies.

• 8:22Speaker 03

Not as bad as it could have been.

• 8:23Stavros Halkias?

With some, uh, with a popcorn side.

• 8:25Speaker 03

  Of course.

• 8:26Stavros Halkias?

And, uh, a weird cottage cheese ice cream that I found for dessert.

• 8:30Speaker 03

That was probably just regular ice cream, but old and curdled.

• 8:34Stavros Halkias?

No, no, it's, it has the worst. Okay. We're actually going to give them some free advertising.

• 8:37Speaker 03

  Let's do it.

• 8:38Stavros Halkias?

But, and I do love this product. Actually, I just found out about it. They had it on GoPuff. It's called sm- this is, it's fucked up to do.

• 8:44Speaker 03

From me personally, shout out GoPuff.

• 8:46Stavros Halkias?

  Absolutely.

• 8:46Speaker 03

Thank you for all that you do.

• 8:47Stavros Halkias?

It, it is good when you're stoned and you just need a snack immediately. Um. It's called, it has the worst name I've ever heard in my life. So this is not actually great advertising. It's called smear case.

• 8:57Speaker 03

  No.

• 8:58Stavros Halkias?

  Smear?

• 8:59Speaker 03

  No.

• 8:59Stavros Halkias?

You, you wanna eat something and it's smear?

• 9:02Speaker 03

  Mm-mm.

• 9:02Stavros Halkias?

  You're thinking of pap smear.

• 9:04Speaker 03

  Yeah, exactly.

• 9:05Stavros Halkias?

There's no way you're not thinking of just like-

• 9:07Speaker 03

  I'm thinking of my cervix.

• 9:08Stavros Halkias?

  Of medical pussy cream.

• 9:10Speaker 03

  Smear case.

• 9:11Stavros Halkias?

But it's fucking good as hell and it's super, it's super protein heavy and you know, I gotta get my, my protein, Katie. I'm trying to get-

• 9:18Speaker 03

Yeah, we're all trying to get pro-

• 9:19Stavros Halkias?

  I'm trying to get jacked.

• 9:20Speaker 03

I feel like adulthood is just ways, trying to find ways to put protein into your body.

• 9:24Stavros Halkias?

Absolutely. I've eaten so much, way more cottage cheese, a lot more whey protein. But anyway. So I had, and then I put chocolate. I found some baking chocolate and I put it, I-

• 9:33Speaker 03

That's always the like, this is kind of chocolate.

• 9:36Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 9:37Speaker 03

This is the only chocolate I have. It will do, but it's not. It tastes like dirt if you think about it too hard.

• 9:42Stavros Halkias?

But you know what? It with the little smear kit, with the little fucked up cottage cheese ice cream and some chocolate shit.

• 9:47Speaker 03

You had a full smear campaign.

• 9:48Stavros Halkias?

I had a, it was fucked. I mean, a lot of, everything I ate was kinda sme- it was smeary.

• 9:52Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 9:52Stavros Halkias?

I smeared shitty cheese. And the anchovies were kinda old. They were kinda smeared. This, this was pretty good.

• 9:59Speaker 03

  And this was last night.

• 10:00Stavros Halkias?

This was literally last night. Honestly, I made a sensible salmon lunch before you got here.

• 10:06Speaker 03

  Smart.

• 10:06Stavros Halkias?

But other than that, yes. That's what's in my belly right now.

• 10:09Speaker 03

Good. You're loaded to the gills with fish.

• 10:11Stavros Halkias?

Along with like five, yeah, I am. Actually, you're right.

• 10:13Speaker 03

  Sick.

• 10:14Stavros Halkias?

Some old fa- and I had sushi the day before. I got a-

• 10:16Speaker 03

  Oh my god.

• 10:17Stavros Halkias?

It's like, it's that and like five old fashions and like, uh, you know.

• 10:21Speaker 03

Yeah, I stopped drinking in the pandemic, kind of by accident. Dan obviously doesn't drink.

• 10:26Stavros Halkias?

  Yep, yep.

• 10:27Speaker 03

And so we just didn't, he did all the shopping and he never, I was never gonna be like, go to the liquor store and get me some booze, but don't touch it.

• 10:33Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 10:34Speaker 03

Um, and so I just stopped, which I never would have thought I'd be able to do. Um, and now when I drink, I'm, it's embarrassing. I drink like two drinks. And I'm just loose. I'm just out here loose. And then I'll come home and then I'll have a headache the next day. And I'm like, what's going on? I used to put beers down.

• 10:56Stavros Halkias?

Were you a real, yeah, you were real drunk? What are we talking here?

• 10:58Speaker 03

Yeah, I mean, I probably shouldn't have, uh, drank as much as I did at as many professional functions as I did. I think I had a couple benevolent, uh, helpers in the sports media industry. I feel like Joel Klatt once said like, you always getting this drunk at work stuff? And I didn't pick up on it. I was like, you know it, baby.

• 11:18Stavros Halkias?

Hell yeah, I'm fine. It's free. Did you know this? Just open bar dude.

• 11:23Speaker 03

And then I think the next day I saw him at like whatever game we were there covering and I was like. I'm sorry Joel, I was out of line last night. But yeah, so I just like, but now I can't do it and I just feel like um, it's a bummer. To revisit drinking and not be able to go.

• 11:40Stavros Halkias?

  You're aging unfortunately.

• 11:44Speaker 03

It really is every day something new. I'm like, oh, that's just what my hip feels like now.

• 11:48Stavros Halkias?

You're done. But you know, you're holding up great. But also you, you also got like, pretty successful, pretty young. So there was a, you might, you, you probably were still in like, party mode. At these like, cause I, cause I'm, you know, I'm a, I was watching, I was like a sports nerd. So I was like, before we were friends, I, I was familiar, I was a fan of your work. I saw the stuff you did. And you were like, I feel like you like, pretty like, yeah, really young, yeah, twenty six. And so you're kind of in that zone. Who were you like, the two years before shit started popping? What was your job? What were you, you were like, just out of college?

• 12:25Stavros Halkias?

  You're from the Boston area.

• 12:26Speaker 03

From the Boston area, but I had moved right out of college into New York City. My cousin from California was moving to do Teach for America. And she needed a roommate. And we, I had a friend from college. All three of us moved into a walk up in New York City. It was a huge mistake. I moved with no job. I had graduated in two thousand and nine and I was like, I'll find a job. I graduated with honors from Hofstra University.

• 12:53Speaker 03

It was crazy. So I, it was like a thousand dollars a month, I think was rent. I had a car for the first.

• 13:00Speaker 03

Sell that. We were up on the Upper East Side. So we like lived there for a little. I ended up working at an Equinox, cause I couldn't find a job. So I sold gym memberships at an Equinox. And then after our lease was up.

• 13:12Stavros Halkias?

That's Upper East Side Equinox. We're talking, that's prime.

• 13:15Speaker 03

I lived across from the seventy fourth street one, which was nice. I worked at the fifty fourth street one, which nobody went to. It sucked.

• 13:22Stavros Halkias?

I was thinking it'd be Real Housewives territory.

• 13:24Speaker 03

Yeah, no, we had, ours was very corporate. Ours was like, if you're a person who works out on your lunch break, you would go to the fifty fourth street. No, not at all. Um, and so that I did that. And then once our lease was up, I was like, fuck this, I'm gonna go back home. But my grandmother had just moved into my bedroom at my parents' house. But she had a condo in town. So I like got my own apartment.

• 13:45Stavros Halkias?

  Oh, wow.

• 13:46Speaker 03

But it was like in an old people's condo in Framingham, Massachusetts. So I lived there and worked at a bar.

• 13:52Stavros Halkias?

  Hell, yeah.

• 13:53Speaker 03

In Alston, Massachusetts, which has since closed. Um, and then, not the whole city, just the bar.

• 13:58Stavros Halkias?

They shuttered the town of Alston?

• 14:00Speaker 03

They were like, get out of here. It's too much.

• 14:02Stavros Halkias?

Alston, it sounds too much like Boston.

• 14:04Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 14:04Stavros Halkias?

  I don't like that.

• 14:05Speaker 03

People always think it's Austin when I say it. No, Al- Alston Brighton. But I was, uh, I was bartending and, uh, blogging.

• 14:15Stavros Halkias?

  Oh, hell, yeah.

• 14:16Speaker 03

That was the write-up before the, I did that for like two years of like writing. Then I started doing daily YouTube videos. And at night, I would go to-

• 14:24Stavros Halkias?

Daily YouTube videos in like 2010?

• 14:26Speaker 03

  Like 20, probably like 20, yeah, 2011, I think.

• 14:29Stavros Halkias?

Still, you're, you're, you know, ahead of the curve.

• 14:32Speaker 03

  They sucked. They're not good.

• 14:35Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, I mean, they probably were, but no, not even-

• 14:36Speaker 03

  Literally just me.

• 14:37Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 14:38Speaker 03

Filming them, editing them, writing them, delivering them.

• 14:42Stavros Halkias?

  Wow.

• 14:42Speaker 03

Um, I learned, I taught myself how to use a green screen.

• 14:45Stavros Halkias?

  Look at that.

• 14:46Speaker 03

Cause I was like, looking at my competition, I was like, these videos aren't gonna pop off unless they look like-

• 14:49Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 14:50Speaker 03

They still didn't, uh, pop off all that much. But it was like work. And then I was going to bartend at night.

• 14:55Stavros Halkias?

  Love that.

• 14:56Speaker 03

Fucking wiped. I was like, working two jobs. The daily videos were, I was doing them for a company and they were only paying me 750 a month. Which at the time, I was like, that's my rent. So I'll just, every, all the dollars I make from- I was like, all the dollars I'm making from bartending, I'll just keep. I was like, I'm living the life.

• 15:15Stavros Halkias?

What kind of bar are we talking?

• 15:16Speaker 03

It was like a college bar.

• 15:17Stavros Halkias?

  Nice, okay.

• 15:18Speaker 03

Like, uh, they were known in the area for being the bar that like will check your ID and you cannot get in underage.

• 15:24Stavros Halkias?

  Wow.

• 15:25Speaker 03

But there would be a long line. We had a pop-a-shot machine. We had two bars.

• 15:30Stavros Halkias?

  Nice.

• 15:30Speaker 03

It was like high-volume BU, BC, Harvard type, yeah, clientele, yeah.

• 15:37Stavros Halkias?

And so you, are you the type bartender who is getting fucked up while bartending?

• 15:41Speaker 03

Well, it depends. I feel like there were times, certainly there were times, but like high volume bartending I hadn't done before. All I had ever done before that was, I probably lied on my resume, but at the time, all I did was like in college, I worked at some place called Benchwarmers. That was a, uh, it was in a strip mall in Long Island with like a nail salon and a place that does trophies for like little league.

• 16:03Stavros Halkias?

Damn, I would, we need to get some trophies in here. So it's in a strip mall, the bar, a strip mall, a bar strip mall is.

• 16:10Speaker 03

  It's tough.

• 16:10Stavros Halkias?

  Awesome.

• 16:11Speaker 03

It was tough. I had like the five clients that came in all the time, clients. They were just people who go to the, just alcoholics.

• 16:18Stavros Halkias?

Long Island guys, probably making horrible, you know, passes at you.

• 16:22Speaker 03

Yeah, but they were also like, um, a lot of them were really old and I was really insistent about how old they were, which I think really set the line that like this was not going to be a thing. Um, and yeah, if anybody ordered food, which no one ever did, thank God, I had to work the fryer as well.

• 16:40Stavros Halkias?

  Front house, back house.

• 16:41Speaker 03

That was when I used to get drunk, when I would have like five people that sit at the bar with me all day. My shift would go until whatever, yes, and I would get drunk.

• 16:47Stavros Halkias?

You gotta drive back to your dorm.

• 16:49Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 16:49Stavros Halkias?

Cause there's no other way to get there. It's Long Island. Yeah, might as well get a buzz going.

• 16:53Speaker 03

Right, why not? Really test things.

• 16:57Stavros Halkias?

subscription order of AG1 Next Gen or AG1 Pro that's drinkag1.com/stavi was that your first so were you a bartender like what's your first job even as like a kid what was that first one

• 19:17Speaker 03

my very first job I was a dance instructor

• 19:22Stavros Halkias?

  oh hell yeah

• 19:22Speaker 03

because at my dance center it was like once you hit a certain age you got to be like the assistant teacher so it was probably my first gig but paid like shit

• 19:30Stavros Halkias?

  of course

• 19:30Speaker 03

and you're just dealing with little kids who are trying to take their shirts off all day I feel like that's all little kids in a leotard are all just like yeah you know so you're just trying to keep kids clothed

• 19:41Stavros Halkias?

they are cute though when you put little kids in like costumes they should or little uniforms that is fucking cute

• 19:47Speaker 03

  very cute

• 19:47Stavros Halkias?

like a kid soccer when they got little shin guards

• 19:53Speaker 03

  it's your whole shin

• 19:55Stavros Halkias?

  them

• 19:55Speaker 03

yeah so that was first job

• 19:57Stavros Halkias?

  interesting

• 19:57Speaker 03

but then most of it's been food service I waitress my mom was a bartender my whole life so I

• 20:02Stavros Halkias?

  oh nice

• 20:02Speaker 03

  I grew up in a

• 20:03Stavros Halkias?

  bartender nepo baby

• 20:05Speaker 03

yeah that's it yeah I was born into it

• 20:10Stavros Halkias?

Damn, a mom bartender your whole life.

• 20:12Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 20:13Stavros Halkias?

My mom was a waitress when I was little, but bartender does feel a little more hardcore.

• 20:18Speaker 03

It was cool. Yeah, she was like a, you know, stereotypical Boston lady. Didn't take no guff.

• 20:25Stavros Halkias?

  No guff.

• 20:26Speaker 03

Type of a deal. Yeah. So she was, that was fun. And then what I always loved is every Christmas, we would have this Christmas party. That was like partially family, partially my brother's friends, partially my friends, and then my mom's regulars from her bar.

• 20:38Stavros Halkias?

  Wow.

• 20:38Speaker 03

So it was like, they were like family.

• 20:39Stavros Halkias?

  She allowed the bar.

• 20:41Speaker 03

  The good ones.

• 20:41Stavros Halkias?

  It's really cheers, huh?

• 20:43Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 20:43Stavros Halkias?

You motherfucker, you were literally living cheers.

• 20:46Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 20:46Stavros Halkias?

Your mom. That's so funny. Damn, mom bartender is fun. That is very fun.

• 20:51Speaker 03

  She's a cool chick.

• 20:52Stavros Halkias?

And she was just working, like, was she around during the day? Like, was she sleeping it off? Or what were we talking?

• 20:58Speaker 03

No, she was around during the day. She, and then she'd go to work at night and come home around like two. There were a couple of years there where I tried to push the like, my dad was an accountant, so during tax season, he would like work late or stay at work or whatever was happening. And then my mom would come home at two, so I'd have people over until one.

• 21:16Stavros Halkias?

  Oh, wow.

• 21:17Speaker 03

And it, it was, I got caught very quickly. So that.

• 21:20Stavros Halkias?

  Interesting.

• 21:21Speaker 03

  But I was really like.

• 21:22Stavros Halkias?

  What's the best?

• 21:22Speaker 03

  Why not?

• 21:23Stavros Halkias?

Yeah. What's the best? Was there like a legendary night at the Nolan's? What was your best one?

• 21:28Speaker 03

Oh, I was gonna say bad legendary.

• 21:29Stavros Halkias?

  Give me both.

• 21:30Speaker 03

There was a time that, uh, a kid I wasn't even really friends with was there. He was down in the garage.

• 21:36Stavros Halkias?

That'll happen, by the way. They'll find their way in. Yeah, yeah.

• 21:38Speaker 03

But this kid was like, early in the rounds of people showing up, so I wasn't already at the point where I was like, fuck you, you can't come in.

• 21:44Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 21:44Speaker 03

And I think I like wanted to be his friend, so I was like, yeah, you guys can, whatever. And then later in the night, I'm drunk, uh, somebody like knocked on the door. I opened it. I did not know these people. Did not know these people at all. Didn't even like, and I had a big high school. I'm like, I don't even recognize you from my school. I do not know you. And they didn't really ask. One of them just like walked in, straight down into the garage, punched that kid in the face.

• 22:08Stavros Halkias?

  Oh, no.

• 22:09Speaker 03

And then they left. Uh, so clearly they had just gotten information that that's where he was. He was like bleeding from his face, luckily, I guess, in the garage.

• 22:19Stavros Halkias?

  Sure.

• 22:20Speaker 03

If that had been anywhere else in the house, that might have been a nightmare.

• 22:22Stavros Halkias?

You'd get it on the ottoman, that's a big problem.

• 22:24Speaker 03

  Right, but actually.

• 22:25Stavros Halkias?

Hose it down in the garage.

• 22:27Speaker 03

But getting blood on the like, into the concrete was kind of hard to get out. Like it soaked in, it felt like. So we really did have to like hose it. I think there's still a stain.

• 22:37Stavros Halkias?

Honestly, you should have put like motor oil over top of it.

• 22:40Speaker 03

  Yeah, or, yeah.

• 22:41Stavros Halkias?

Should have made a new stain.

• 22:42Speaker 03

  You're right.

• 22:43Stavros Halkias?

Or you should have been like, Mom, I'm building you a birdhouse and like spray painted it and got, oh no, I got a little red spray.

• 22:49Speaker 03

Oh no, but only because I love you so much.

• 22:51Stavros Halkias?

  So much.

• 22:52Speaker 03

To make you this little birdhouse.

• 22:55Speaker 03

Yeah, I got caught anytime I tried to have a party and it was a lot of times, but I always got caught.

• 23:00Stavros Halkias?

  That is cool. I mean.

• 23:01Speaker 03

  Did something dumb.

• 23:01Stavros Halkias?

Having access to an unsupervised garage till 1 a.m. That is, that must have been good for you in high school.

• 23:07Speaker 03

  You'd think.

• 23:08Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 23:08Speaker 03

You know, you'd think it didn't necessarily help with the popularity.

• 23:12Stavros Halkias?

  You're a fucking loser.

• 23:13Speaker 03

Kind of. I mean, not like a huge one. Um, my house got egged a lot.

• 23:19Stavros Halkias?

  What? Why?

• 23:20Speaker 03

I think it started, I don't remember how it started, but once people heard that it happened, then they were like, oh, the house that's right across from the middle school. And it was just like, we were on a busy street. And then every time it happened, my dad would wake me up and be like, your friends egged the house again. And I said, what about this leads you to believe these people are my friends? Why would my friends?

• 23:42Stavros Halkias?

What the fuck's going on here?

• 23:43Speaker 03

  I don't know. I was, the older girls, uh, I don't know.

• 23:47Stavros Halkias?

Did they fucking stuff you at a locker?

• 23:49Speaker 03

They want, they wanted to. The lockers were too small, I guess, so they had to egg my, egg is a pain in the ass.

• 23:54Stavros Halkias?

  Eggs tough.

• 23:55Speaker 03

To get off the side of your house.

• 23:56Stavros Halkias?

  There's a reason.

• 23:58Speaker 03

  I know.

• 23:58Stavros Halkias?

That's the classic thing to do. It sucks.

• 24:00Speaker 03

Easy to throw and hard to clean up. It sucks.

• 24:03Stavros Halkias?

The noise is fun when an egg bursts. Wow.

• 24:06Speaker 03

  Damn.

• 24:07Stavros Halkias?

They fucking, inflation has stolen the joy of egging.

• 24:10Speaker 03

  True.

• 24:11Stavros Halkias?

There's no way kids are egging anymore. What do you even do now? What would you do?

• 24:17Speaker 03

  What do they do now?

• 24:17Stavros Halkias?

What do you, I mean, I guess they don't do anything fucking cool.

• 24:20Speaker 03

They don't even talk to each other. They're just all on screens.

• 24:23Stavros Halkias?

They're on screens. They're all, I guess they're forced, they're kind of driving each other to suicide.

• 24:28Speaker 03

  Yeah, yes.

• 24:29Stavros Halkias?

  Through online bullying.

• 24:29Speaker 03

Right, and they, so they do have that. They do have, they have hobbies. They're not just sitting around. They're doing something.

• 24:37Stavros Halkias?

They're leaking each other's nudes, trying to, you know, ruin each other's lives.

• 24:41Speaker 03

  God damn.

• 24:42Stavros Halkias?

It's a simpler time, you know?

• 24:44Speaker 03

So many nudes, and are they even fucking? I feel like the kids aren't fucking like they used to.

• 24:49Stavros Halkias?

  I think it's, I think it's, there is a big, like, everyone's worried that kids aren't fucking.

• 24:52Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 24:52Stavros Halkias?

Kind of, I guess it hit Japan first.

• 24:54Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 24:55Stavros Halkias?

Cause I remember, that's all I used to hear, was like, no one in Japan has sex, and now it feels like it's coming, it's coming down the pike.

• 25:02Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 25:02Stavros Halkias?

For us, which, you know, real shame for those, I mean, I guess now every kid just has my high school experience.

• 25:09Speaker 03

  Welcome to it.

• 25:10Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, I guess I was ahead, I was, I was a trailblazer, not having sex until I was.

• 25:15Speaker 04

  We turned out okay.

• 25:17Speaker 03

  You're a tastemaker.

• 25:20Speaker 03

  Man.

• 25:20Stavros Halkias?

But we wanted, that's the difference, Elvis, we desperately wanted to fuck.

• 25:24Speaker 03

We also grew up with them being like, don't fuck.

• 25:26Stavros Halkias?

  It's true.

• 25:27Speaker 03

Don't fuck. At least the girls, it was always just like, you're gonna get pregnant, don't fuck. And I listened, what an idiot.

• 25:34Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 25:34Speaker 03

I was like, okay, you're right.

• 25:35Stavros Halkias?

Oh, that's why they thought you were a loser.

• 25:36Speaker 03

I don't want, that's probably it, yeah, we're getting to the real bottom of it now.

• 25:40Stavros Halkias?

All the other girls in, where was it, did you say framing him?

• 25:43Speaker 03

  That's right.

• 25:43Stavros Halkias?

  They're sucking and fucking.

• 25:45Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 25:45Stavros Halkias?

They're hanging out, you know, they're.

• 25:48Speaker 03

  I was scared.

• 25:49Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 25:49Speaker 03

I was like, I'll be the girl who does ecstasy once and dies. I'll be the girl who has sex once and gets pregnant. And so I just, you know, stayed away from it all.

• 25:58Stavros Halkias?

Was it like a religious, were you like religious at all?

• 26:01Speaker 03

I mean, we were, I was raised, but not like super duper.

• 26:04Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, like the classic Catholic stuff.

• 26:07Speaker 03

I went all the way through confirmation so that I could get married, and my mom's thing was like, at least get confirmed so you can be married in a church if you want to.

• 26:15Stavros Halkias?

  That really panned out.

• 26:16Speaker 03

And I guess, yeah, I mean, been engaged for like five years, I don't think I'm getting married in any building at this point.

• 26:23Stavros Halkias?

There's no, there's no, that's hysterical to think about Dan getting married in a church.

• 26:27Speaker 03

  I know.

• 26:29Stavros Halkias?

That's so, Dan is like, you know, obviously one of my best friends, and he is also the most classic, just like, I guess I just think of him, I would classify him as a South Park atheist. You know what I mean? Like, he's from Colorado, he loves weed, he loves South Park. There's no way I could see that man getting married in a church. I mean, he would do it.

• 26:48Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 26:48Stavros Halkias?

It's also funny to think of him, even though he would look great in a suit, it's funny to think of him comfortable in a suit.

• 26:53Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 26:54Stavros Halkias?

  You know what I mean?

• 26:54Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 26:54Stavros Halkias?

I've seen him in suits, I think probably-

• 26:56Speaker 03

  Cleans up nice.

• 26:57Stavros Halkias?

He cleans up nice. I've seen him at other weddings, I've seen him, but it just, I feel like at his wedding, he should be, which he won't.

• 27:03Speaker 03

This is why it's so hard to plan.

• 27:05Stavros Halkias?

He should be in like sweatpants.

• 27:06Speaker 03

I can't picture what the fuck, everyone's like, just do it for you two. Like, well, if it was for us, we would just stay home.

• 27:12Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 27:13Speaker 03

  With the dog.

• 27:13Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 27:14Speaker 03

And play video games. And eat whatever treats we wanted to. We, I can't picture how to throw a party.

• 27:20Stavros Halkias?

Friends would come in and out.

• 27:22Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 27:22Stavros Halkias?

  You know?

• 27:23Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 27:23Stavros Halkias?

That sounds fun. We could get that going.

• 27:27Speaker 03

  We could try.

• 27:28Stavros Halkias?

Let's just do that, you know? Let's get, let's get-

• 27:30Speaker 03

  Perfect.

• 27:30Stavros Halkias?

How about like, rent out a Pizza Hut? You know? Find one of the old school-

• 27:35Speaker 03

One of the ones that look like the old, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 27:38Stavros Halkias?

I'm kinda jealous, I haven't told you this, I want this for my wedding.

• 27:40Speaker 03

With the like, um, remember those, uh, chandeliers that were like, yeah, yeah.

• 27:45Stavros Halkias?

Okay, this is actually what should be happening.

• 27:47Speaker 03

  This might be it, yeah.

• 27:47Stavros Halkias?

And if they don't exist, the money people spend on, you should spend that-

• 27:51Speaker 03

  To recreate.

• 27:53Stavros Halkias?

A Pizza Hut. That would be, honestly, the best wedding of all time.

• 27:57Speaker 03

This is the most excited I've felt for planning a wedding.

• 28:00Stavros Halkias?

Can we do, can you pitch this? I'm telling, I'm calling Dan immediately after this. Cause I think this is a great, I actually think this is a great idea, and I actually am afraid our listeners are gonna scoop you.

• 28:09Speaker 03

  Don't do it.

• 28:09Stavros Halkias?

Because we have, you know, trash, we also have trash listeners. Who have, you know, who probably live in the kinda town where Pizza Hut is still, there's like eight towns probably.

• 28:20Speaker 03

  Kicking around?

• 28:21Stavros Halkias?

  I think so, yeah, yeah.

• 28:22Speaker 03

I bumped into a Friendly's in the wild recently.

• 28:24Stavros Halkias?

  Wow.

• 28:25Speaker 03

And was like, I have to go to this.

• 28:26Stavros Halkias?

I didn't know it was a Boston thing, cause we had it, I loved Friendly's. It had, it had traveled to Baltimore.

• 28:31Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 28:31Stavros Halkias?

And that little watermelon, that little watermelon slice, you remember that shit? The ice cream?

• 28:36Speaker 03

  The jubilee roll.

• 28:37Stavros Halkias?

  The jubilee roll.

• 28:38Speaker 03

Whatever that was, I loved it.

• 28:40Stavros Halkias?

Their fucked up little steak fries.

• 28:41Speaker 03

Their chicken fingers with their, with that honey mustard.

• 28:43Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, that's good stuff. Yeah. Were you, were you ever a Friendly's guy, Aldous?

• 28:48Speaker 04

I like Friendly's. I don't, I'm, I don't remember any of the things you guys are naming though. I remember like the sundae, they had the.

• 28:54Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, they had sundae.

• 28:55Speaker 03

Yeah, with the upside down, with the cone on it and they made it look like a person with a little.

• 29:00Stavros Halkias?

  Smiley face, that is good.

• 29:02Speaker 04

My family never went there. We only went there for like school trips and shit, so maybe I just remember the little lunch menu.

• 29:07Stavros Halkias?

I remember that. Yeah, I, we literally were on the same field trip. I remember that field trip. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yes, you're right, dude. This is so fucked up. It was a green piece of paper. I remember the exact menu that he's talking about, cause that's, I was like, when did I have a hamburger at Friendly's? It was that school trip.

• 29:24Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 29:24Stavros Halkias?

And then one other time, my family, like my, my, a family friend would take me out, like, she was like my aunt, but not, you know, one of those classic, you think she's your aunt your whole life.

• 29:34Speaker 03

Yeah, and then later you're like, wait, what?

• 29:35Stavros Halkias?

As soon as you understand how to do genealogy, you're like, we're not related at all. She would like take me, she would take me like, you know, every three months, she would like, hey, let's take the kids out. And she took me to Friendly's once. We had like a proper meal.

• 29:47Speaker 03

  It was that.

• 29:47Stavros Halkias?

But before that, it was just ice cream.

• 29:50Speaker 03

  And, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 29:51Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, grandma, I feel like grandmas would take you to Friendly's.

• 29:54Speaker 03

It always felt like a weird meeting, where you weren't like relaxed. You were just like, okay.

• 29:58Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, but the ice cream.

• 30:00Speaker 03

  Tasty.

• 30:01Stavros Halkias?

  Great stuff.

• 30:01Speaker 03

  Real tasty treat.

• 30:02Stavros Halkias?

Wow. R I P Friendly's. The world we grew up in is disintegrating.

• 30:06Speaker 03

  Ground round, gone.

• 30:08Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 30:08Speaker 03

The ninety-nine, is that a thing? Was that just Massachusetts? You guys have the ninety-nine?

• 30:11Stavros Halkias?

  I don't know about the ninety-nine.

• 30:12Speaker 03

It was like one of those restaurants, Bennigan's.

• 30:14Stavros Halkias?

  Bennigan's, wow.

• 30:15Speaker 03

Dan and I just ate at a Bennigan's on our holiday trip.

• 30:18Stavros Halkias?

  Where?

• 30:19Speaker 03

It was in, oh no, like Des Moines, maybe?

• 30:23Stavros Halkias?

  Hmm.

• 30:23Speaker 03

It was somewhere. We drive across, through the middle of the country. Yeah, we, cause our dog can't fly and we want to take our dog for Christmas. I felt too bad leaving her every holiday, so we drive. It's actually not bad, except for the one time we had to sleep in the parking lot of a Motel Six in Nebraska. That fucking sucked.

• 30:39Stavros Halkias?

There was a snowstorm or something?

• 30:40Speaker 03

  It was too windy.

• 30:42Stavros Halkias?

  Too windy to drive?

• 30:43Speaker 03

Apparently it's so flat in Nebraska that if you're driving on the highway and it's really windy, then a truck could get flipped over and then everybody's in danger. So we had to sleep in the parking lot of a Motel Six with a dog, very humbling, in a car. She had the whole backseat and we just had our two seats like reclined.

• 31:00Stavros Halkias?

  Couldn't get the room, huh?

• 31:01Speaker 03

Really awful. No, they filled up. It was all truckers. We couldn't get in. They let us use their bathroom, which was very nice. Uh, but we were driving through and we saw Bennigan's on a sign on our way out. And so then we planned our trip back.

• 31:14Speaker 03

We had just eaten and we were like, no! And so we planned on our trip back that that's where we, it was attached to a hotel. So we'll, we'll stay here on our way back. It was worth it.

• 31:24Stavros Halkias?

Bennigan's, I, it's, you know, we were, we were, we were an Applebee's, then Chili's family.

• 31:30Speaker 03

  Mm.

• 31:30Stavros Halkias?

  You know, uh.

• 31:31Speaker 03

No TGI Fridays in the mix?

• 31:33Stavros Halkias?

We skipped TGI Fridays completely. Eldis was a TGI Friday family.

• 31:37Speaker 04

  We were big on Friday.

• 31:37Speaker 03

Those Jack Daniels chicken strips, that was, that was my high school experience.

• 31:40Speaker 04

The Jack Daniels burger, that was, that was my.

• 31:43Stavros Halkias?

Eldis still fondly recalls the Jack Daniels burger.

• 31:46Speaker 04

I've been talking about it a lot. I should just go get one.

• 31:49Speaker 03

Bring it back. Do they still have it? They might.

• 31:51Speaker 04

I think they do. I think I looked up a menu recently.

• 31:53Stavros Halkias?

You looked up a menu? What?

• 31:56Speaker 04

It just sounds good. I want that fucking glaze and sauce.

• 32:00Stavros Halkias?

What's TGI Friday's current national menu, just so you have the information?

• 32:06Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah. Jack Daniels burger.

• 32:07Stavros Halkias?

  That's so fucking funny.

• 32:08Speaker 03

  Fridays.

• 32:10Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, Fri- you know.

• 32:11Speaker 03

  It's just a burger.

• 32:12Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, they throw a little fucking, they throw a little barbecue sauce.

• 32:15Speaker 04

They have that sweet sauce you like drench it in.

• 32:16Stavros Halkias?

  It's barbecue sauce, man.

• 32:18Speaker 04

No, no, but it's like, it's very, it's thinner than barbecue sauce. It's like thinner and sweeter or something.

• 32:25Stavros Halkias?

  No, no.

• 32:26Speaker 03

  No, no.

• 32:26Stavros Halkias?

  This is the one.

• 32:27Speaker 03

  You're on a glaze.

• 32:28Stavros Halkias?

I, I do believe you. I mean, you've had this burger a lot.

• 32:30Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 32:31Stavros Halkias?

Uh, I remember your sister taking us out to, to, to get Jack Daniels burgers a couple of times.

• 32:36Speaker 03

  That's a good sister.

• 32:36Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, she's awesome.

• 32:38Speaker 03

  She's a really good sister.

• 32:40Stavros Halkias?

Uh, so, okay, so you were, I'm sorry, you were a dance instructor, so that means you were a dancer, huh?

• 32:45Speaker 03

Yeah, I also, uh, better job story about dancing. I was a bar mitzvah dancer.

• 32:49Stavros Halkias?

A bar mitzvah dancer? What does that even mean?

• 32:51Speaker 03

So you know when you go, how many, you've been to a bunch of bar mitzvahs, maybe?

• 32:54Stavros Halkias?

I've been to a few, yeah, yeah.

• 32:55Speaker 03

Um, the, they usually have like the DJ.

• 32:58Stavros Halkias?

  Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

• 32:59Speaker 03

And then they'll have like the

• 33:01Stavros Halkias?

  Oh.

• 33:01Speaker 03

Two or three, depending on the budget.

• 33:03Stavros Halkias?

  Sure.

• 33:04Speaker 03

Uh, young women. To get the party going. Yeah, to where the party starters.

• 33:07Stavros Halkias?

So you were really an incredibly low level sex worker?

• 33:10Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 33:11Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, whereas, you're an escort?

• 33:13Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 33:13Stavros Halkias?

For twelve year old Jewish boys?

• 33:14Speaker 03

I was like a geisha. I was like a geisha. I would pour the sodas.

• 33:19Stavros Halkias?

  Just like.

• 33:19Speaker 03

  I would facilitate conversation.

• 33:21Stavros Halkias?

Oh my God, that's fucking hilarious, dude.

• 33:24Speaker 03

  Please don't touch.

• 33:27Stavros Halkias?

You'll do like some, yeah, some of this with a twelve year old boy.

• 33:30Speaker 03

I'll go dance, like when they do the snowball dances, you know, when like a, they'd start with the birthday boy. Or girl or whatever, and then, and they would split off and they'd each pick someone. I would always pick the kid you knew probably wasn't gonna get picked. So that they could feel like they were a part of it.

• 33:47Stavros Halkias?

  Wow, that's fascinating.

• 33:49Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 33:50Stavros Halkias?

That there's like, how do you even get that job? Who recommends you?

• 33:54Speaker 03

So I did it, I feel like I, my memory for my own life is really shady, but I feel like I did it in high school cause I knew my friend's sister worked for a DJ company, so I worked with them. And it was like, for that age, the money was great. It was like twenty five an hour.

• 34:10Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 34:10Speaker 03

And it was like a four hour party.

• 34:12Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 34:12Speaker 03

And then depending on who's, you know, paying, sometimes you need to get a tip. Sometimes you'd get to eat from their sick carving station.

• 34:19Stavros Halkias?

The starving stations were out of control in Bar Mitzvahs.

• 34:21Speaker 03

But then other times they would, you'd go to a really rich one, they'd have a carving station and then you'd be eating like a salad in the back.

• 34:26Stavros Halkias?

  That's crazy.

• 34:27Speaker 03

This sucks. You're not even eating all of it. It's sitting there on the bone. But, so the pay was great for high school and then in college, I think I just like looked for, I was like, well, now we're on Long Island. So this is where the real money is.

• 34:41Stavros Halkias?

I was scavenging in Framingham, Massachusetts.

• 34:45Speaker 03

Had to make a travel a bunch. Then when I gets to Long Island, I'm like, I can go down, I could do two in a night. I could get up two Bar Mitzvahs, make a ton of money. And so that's, I think my roommate and I got into that together, which was nice.

• 34:58Stavros Halkias?

That is nice and I'm glad, it also does feel like a feeder system for sex trafficking.

• 35:03Speaker 03

Yeah. You know what I mean? I did get out and I think I looked back and was like, oh, I got out. Like I didn't, uh...

• 35:09Stavros Halkias?

That is so fucking funny to be like, gotta keep the party live. We're, we're hiring like, college girls.

• 35:16Speaker 03

  To dance for you.

• 35:17Stavros Halkias?

  With eleven year olds.

• 35:18Speaker 03

Yeah. Yeah. It is, and I will say the thing that got me out of it was it, it got really bleak towards the end. Again, as a, as a child who didn't fuck.

• 35:28Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 35:29Speaker 03

Hearing these thirteen year olds, cause that's what a Bar Mitzvah is, you're celebrating turning thirteen, talking about like, you know, I'd go over and use my old moves from when I was in high school and be like, how come we're not dancing with those girls over there?

• 35:40Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 35:41Speaker 03

And they'd be like, she's ran through. She already, she sucked my dick. I'm like, what? You're thirteen? You're thirteen? 13

• 35:52Speaker 03

It was too much, the dynamic changed.

• 35:53Stavros Halkias?

  That's so fucking funny.

• 35:55Speaker 03

And once I was like, oh, you're all fucking? This feels so different. The meat station's uncomfortable now. I don't want to be around this.

• 36:02Stavros Halkias?

No, you're right, because if the kids aren't fucking, you're essentially like a lady who's like hired to dress up as a Disney princess for a child's party.

• 36:10Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 36:10Stavros Halkias?

But when they start fucking, that's when you are now an escort.

• 36:13Speaker 03

Now I'm like, don't look at me like that. I don't want to dance with any of you. Ran through? She's 13. There's no way she's ran through.

• 36:25Stavros Halkias?

Uh, that was fucking long. Yeah, I mean, I remember one time in middle school, uh, in gym, it's eighth grade. And it's like a, it's like the end of the year, we're eighth graders, it's like an open period, they don't, you know, we're playing, we're playing pickup games. And a lot of kids are just chilling, talking, and I overheard, like, uh, this, these kids making plans to get, like, two dudes and a, and a girl are making plans for her to suck their dicks.

• 36:55Speaker 03

  Sick.

• 36:55Stavros Halkias?

And I was like, what? You guys get head? And you're just openly, you're not like nervous to like kiss a girl, you're like, okay, so, you know, clock's ticking, are you gonna suck us off or not? Like, not only were they getting head, but they were, it was so normal to them.

• 37:11Speaker 03

  They were impatient about it?

• 37:12Stavros Halkias?

That they like were calmer about it than I am, like, even now.

• 37:15Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 37:16Stavros Halkias?

As like a 36-year-old man, these kids, and then the funniest thing was, they, like, I'm like dribbling a ball, I overhear this, and I go like, like, I drop the ball, the ball's just, and they see my face being like, and they're like, he listening? Now they're pointing at me like, yo, look, he listening. And I was like, oh, and then I'm like, oh, no. Miss a layup or something? I was like, no, I get, I've gotten head before. I've certainly kissed a woman once.

• 37:43Speaker 03

  Oh, no.

• 37:43Stavros Halkias?

  It was fucking awesome.

• 37:44Speaker 03

  Oh, no.

• 37:45Stavros Halkias?

And then they were, uh, they were more, literally more mature than I am now. They're like, and then they like kind of laughed it off and like went back to their plan. Like, they didn't even, here's how, it's even more devastating, they didn't even feel the need to bully me. They were like, huh, that poor kid. Anyway, let's go get our dicks sucked.

• 38:04Stavros Halkias?

Oh, man, that was, yeah. That really was, I was, I think there was some fear, I guess.

• 38:10Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 38:10Stavros Halkias?

From, I get, we, I, I mean, I went to Orthodox, you know, we're Greek Orthodox, and it sounds way more hardcore than it is.

• 38:17Speaker 03

I was gonna say, what's the big thing? What's Greek Orthodox is big, like, we weren't allowed to something?

• 38:23Stavros Halkias?

  See, not, nothing, really.

• 38:24Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 38:25Stavros Halkias?

In fact, the first time I did touch tits was in my church, actually.

• 38:30Speaker 03

  Shout out.

• 38:30Stavros Halkias?

Kind of similar to like how Jewish kids would like go to camp or whatever.

• 38:33Speaker 03

  Right.

• 38:34Stavros Halkias?

We had like a youth group, people were like making out. I, I touched titties in ninth grade at the Greek, I was drunk and touching titties upstairs.

• 38:42Speaker 03

  In ninth grade?

• 38:42Stavros Halkias?

Ninth or tenth, yeah. But don't get me wrong, that was it. It was like a little, a little, that's almost like God teasing me, like, hey, man.

• 38:49Speaker 03

  Here's what.

• 38:49Stavros Halkias?

You're gonna touch tits twice in one summer and then say goodbye to them till college? It was like, it was, it was actually more cruel than not letting me touch tits.

• 38:59Speaker 03

You'd almost rather not know what it feels like.

• 39:00Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 39:02Speaker 03

Instead, you're at home being like.

• 39:03Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, just like looking at my hand. Crying, yeah.

• 39:10Stavros Halkias?

Uh, and I, I think I've told this story before, but not only did I, like, I experienced like sort of, uh, that girl, I was like, it was like kinda awesome, I was like, whoa, this girl's letting me touch this. We, we were, we went to the same high school, and then I hit her up, you know, on MySpace, this is the days we're talking.

• 39:25Speaker 03

  Right.

• 39:26Stavros Halkias?

And, uh, she's like, haha, last night was pretty crazy, don't remember anything, how about you?

• 39:32Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 39:32Stavros Halkias?

And then I was like, haha, me neither, and she's like posting a picture with like her, she had a boyfriend, she was like cheating on.

• 39:39Speaker 03

  You touched taken tits?

• 39:40Stavros Halkias?

I had touched taken tits. Yep, yep, yep, and then she kinda played it off. And like, I was nothing but a piece of ass for the night to her.

• 39:48Speaker 03

  Damn, you got used.

• 39:49Stavros Halkias?

I got used, I got, yeah.

• 39:51Speaker 03

  Used and discarded.

• 39:53Stavros Halkias?

And I was like, of course, I was like, well, I'm essentially married now, this is my wife, like.

• 39:59Speaker 03

I will be loyal to her for the rest of my life.

• 40:02Stavros Halkias?

I'm literally like, well, I have a girlfriend.

• 40:03Speaker 03

Well, I can only think about her when I masturbate, no more porn for me.

• 40:07Stavros Halkias?

You know what, maybe that was, it was tenth, was it eleventh grade? Cause I had a.

• 40:12Speaker 03

The number keeps going up, I see.

• 40:13Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, it was, it was, it was four days ago.

• 40:17Speaker 03

  My first set.

• 40:18Stavros Halkias?

That was, okay, no, I made, that was, one was 10th grade and then this girl that I'm thinking of was 11th because I had a day, I had a job, an after school job.

• 40:27Speaker 03

Oh, yeah, you were working man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You needed those tits.

• 40:30Stavros Halkias?

  I was a telemarketer.

• 40:31Speaker 03

Oh my god. That's way too young to be a telemarketer.

• 40:35Stavros Halkias?

Oh yeah, I mean, uh, we, we a hundred percent aided in the mortgage crisis. It was a company called American Government Mortgage.

• 40:42Speaker 03

Yeah, that's what they're all called. I feel like some, some form of words that sound important and correct.

• 40:47Stavros Halkias?

  It's supposed to be.

• 40:48Speaker 03

Did you know Dan got scammed? Did Dan tell you he got scammed?

• 40:49Stavros Halkias?

No. When? Recently or back in the day? Oh no.

• 40:55Speaker 03

I shouldn't share this. This is his story to share. I shouldn't share it. Star Bros, I stepped out of the house for just a little bit.

• 41:01Stavros Halkias?

  Oh no.

• 41:02Speaker 03

I went to do a podcast.

• 41:03Stavros Halkias?

  No.

• 41:04Speaker 03

And when I came home, I mean, he full on like wrote on a post-it note and it's.

• 41:09Stavros Halkias?

  Okay.

• 41:09Speaker 03

I'll say less, but holy shit.

• 41:11Stavros Halkias?

I think he probably is coming to do the pod.

• 41:13Speaker 03

It's very funny. Make him tell you the story.

• 41:16Stavros Halkias?

I can't wait. That's so fucking funny that he got scammed.

• 41:19Speaker 03

  Oh my god, so embarrassing.

• 41:21Stavros Halkias?

There are some scams going around.

• 41:22Speaker 03

Everybody's doing it. American Government Mortgage or whatever, you know?

• 41:26Stavros Halkias?

Well, to my credit, I was so bad, I never filled, nobody ever filled out an apple. I was so bad at the job. I was on MySpace.

• 41:33Speaker 03

Yeah, cold, cold calling. I just would write that I called and they didn't answer. I didn't call. I don't want to call anybody.

• 41:39Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 41:39Speaker 03

That's suck. Hi, do you want a gym membership? No, if they did, they'd be here.

• 41:42Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 41:43Speaker 03

I'm not gonna call and sell them. That's not gonna work.

• 41:45Stavros Halkias?

That must work like one out of, were there people that were good at that?

• 41:48Speaker 03

Yes, this kid Andre, he had this like phone bank and he would just, he never left his office. You never saw him give a tour of the gym.

• 41:55Stavros Halkias?

  Really?

• 41:55Speaker 03

You never saw him like do any outreach. He just had his leads. He would call them and he would lead the company in sales. I never figured out how he did it, but there had to be some sort of nefariousness at play. I don't know. I think he had other people making calls for him. I don't know. It was an interesting, sale, I'm not built for the sales world.

• 42:14Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 42:14Speaker 03

I don't have that like, God, I hit my quota.

• 42:17Stavros Halkias?

You have to be so pushy.

• 42:18Speaker 03

I was begging people to sign up for this gym that was like a lot of money a month. During the recession when people were losing their jobs. I was locking. Them into one year contracts and be like, oh, you got fired. Unfortunately, I do still need you to uphold your end of the deal. I felt really shitty about that.

• 42:35Stavros Halkias?

They wait, they made you like call and be like.

• 42:37Speaker 03

Well, they would, they would come in and go like, can we cancel our membership? And I was like, unfortunately, you're on your first year. So for a year, you are locked in.

• 42:44Stavros Halkias?

  Holy shit.

• 42:45Speaker 03

Once the year is up, I could cancel. They, I think they eventually reversed that policy. So I think enough people were like, this is fucked up.

• 42:52Stavros Halkias?

  That's insane.

• 42:52Speaker 03

  We don't have jobs.

• 42:54Stavros Halkias?

The, the fact that gyms are able to just be like, no, you have to do a little obstacle course.

• 42:59Speaker 03

In order to cancel, come in, talk to me for an hour.

• 43:02Stavros Halkias?

Write me a letter. It's like, what the fuck is this?

• 43:04Speaker 03

  I know, it's crazy.

• 43:05Stavros Halkias?

  This is a gym.

• 43:05Speaker 03

Yeah, we should be able to just go.

• 43:08Stavros Halkias?

  I could cancel anything.

• 43:09Speaker 03

  Cancel.

• 43:10Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 43:10Speaker 03

Even cable now is easier than it used to be, but gyms, you've got to.

• 43:14Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, they make you jump the fucking hoops. And I don't know why that's why. How strong is the gym lobby that they're allowed to do that legally?

• 43:21Speaker 03

I think it's that they, their business model runs on people paying for it and not going.

• 43:26Stavros Halkias?

  Of course.

• 43:27Speaker 03

So they, once you're in that situation, they would love to keep you in that situation. Cause if everybody came in, there wouldn't be enough machines.

• 43:34Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Especially, but literally Planet Fitness.

• 43:37Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 43:37Stavros Halkias?

Cannot house the amount of people.

• 43:39Speaker 03

It's like the way that we had to hit our quota every month in sales. I think early in my tenure, six months, I said like, where are we putting all these people? And they looked at me with the like, oh, honey, they don't show up. It's, uh, you sort of just keep selling. Every month to more people that can't fit into the same gym. So I think that's why they make it hard to cancel. Cause they're like, this keeps us.

• 44:03Stavros Halkias?

  Of course.

• 44:04Speaker 03

  Afloat.

• 44:05Stavros Halkias?

This is how we rob people.

• 44:06Speaker 03

If people who didn't want to be here could cancel easily, we'd make no money.

• 44:09Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, they'd still get people like me who just forget.

• 44:13Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 44:13Stavros Halkias?

I let stuff ride way too long.

• 44:16Speaker 03

  Way too long.

• 44:17Stavros Halkias?

  Way too long.

• 44:17Speaker 03

  I had two health insurances.

• 44:21Stavros Halkias?

Did you go to the doctor?

• 44:22Speaker 03

Because I had never, yes, I had never had health insurance through work. For some reason, something about being on air talent, they never give you the like benefits stuff. So I'd gotten it through the marketplace and then when I got to ESPN, they were like, we're giving you health insurance. I was like, sick. But I didn't cancel my other one and I didn't understand the coverages of the one for ESPN and that was only costing me 12 bucks out of a paycheck.

• 44:43Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, so whatever.

• 44:44Speaker 03

  So I was like, whatever.

• 44:45Stavros Halkias?

  Double doctor, baby.

• 44:46Speaker 03

  Two health insurances.

• 44:47Stavros Halkias?

I want Xanax twice. I want Tzany prescriptions, make it happen. I mean, we should, look, we have some questions to get to, but we do, you know, we have a, a sports professional here, we should talk about how, um, hyster- it's like, the, do you think the New England Patriots, uh, did a monkey paw wish to be a dynasty? And they're like, whatever it takes, after we retire, our lives are ruined. Do you think that's what's happening with Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and the Kraft family? What do you think? Because it is hilarious that Bill Belichick is dating literally, uh, a, but let's say someone who's the age to be a bar mitzvah dancer. You know what I mean?

• 45:26Speaker 03

She'd be great. She would kill it.

• 45:27Stavros Halkias?

  She would actually crush it.

• 45:29Speaker 03

She's got the personality for it.

• 45:30Stavros Halkias?

  She's got the range.

• 45:31Speaker 03

  She sure does.

• 45:31Stavros Halkias?

She can entertain an old man, she can entertain an 11 year old boy.

• 45:34Speaker 03

She can pretend to enjoy something. Clearly. Um, it's, you know, it's m- mortifying. The first person I actually talked to about it when it was, you know, the story was starting to break. I was doing the Great British Bake Off.

• 45:50Stavros Halkias?

  Oh, wow.

• 45:51Speaker 03

Uh, with DK Metcalf and he just like, he goes, how about Bill's new girlfriend? And looked at me like that.

• 45:59Speaker 03

And I was like, look, I'm just glad he's, he's, he waited till he wasn't.

• 46:03Stavros Halkias?

  Right.

• 46:04Speaker 03

  Here.

• 46:04Stavros Halkias?

  Right.

• 46:05Speaker 03

  Anymore to do that.

• 46:06Stavros Halkias?

  Stuff's coming out.

• 46:07Speaker 03

  Yeah, I know.

• 46:07Stavros Halkias?

  She might have been around.

• 46:09Speaker 03

She probably was, but at least we didn't, at least it wasn't a story. Uh, at the time.

• 46:14Stavros Halkias?

Right. At least they had the decency to threaten reporters.

• 46:17Speaker 03

  Ay, ay, ay.

• 46:18Stavros Halkias?

  For two years on.

• 46:19Speaker 03

  I know.

• 46:19Stavros Halkias?

He's about to retire. This is what you want to do to his legacy? You ever want to, you ever want to be back in here again? You want access ever? Shut the fuck up about this.

• 46:27Speaker 03

  That's, it's just like.

• 46:28Stavros Halkias?

She's as nervous if anybody asks.

• 46:30Speaker 03

Well, pretty soon she would be, so she should know. That's what she's, look, I don't know, I keep going back and forth on it because part of me, I'm like, I want, look, if you're willing.

• 46:40Stavros Halkias?

  Sure.

• 46:40Speaker 03

To have sex with Bill Belichick.

• 46:44Speaker 03

Who am I to say that's not worth eight million dollars in a real estate portfolio?

• 46:49Stavros Halkias?

Tip of the cap for a true hustler.

• 46:51Speaker 03

  You are doing it.

• 46:52Stavros Halkias?

For a bag chaser to the absolute max.

• 46:55Speaker 03

  Right.

• 46:55Stavros Halkias?

You gotta respect her. The Belichick family's nerve, that's how you know she's on to something. Cause it started to leak and we're like, his family's like, "Look, man, we don't fucking like it either."

• 47:04Speaker 03

We don't know what this is about.

• 47:06Stavros Halkias?

And no one is happy about it.

• 47:07Speaker 03

Cause she's younger than, she's younger than his kids, his youngest kid. His daughter, I believe, is in her thir- like later 30s.

• 47:15Stavros Halkias?

She is a third of his age, right?

• 47:16Speaker 03

Yeah, she's 24 or 5 and he is, and there's questions about that.

• 47:21Stavros Halkias?

  I know.

• 47:22Speaker 03

Uh, he is 74 or 5.

• 47:25Stavros Halkias?

  I mean, that's...

• 47:25Speaker 03

  It's, uh, 72, 72 or 3.

• 47:28Stavros Halkias?

  Oh, is it? Okay.

• 47:29Speaker 03

Sorry, yeah, that one year makes the difference. Um, but, you know, he's 72.

• 47:33Stavros Halkias?

  Okay, close to three times.

• 47:35Speaker 03

  And she's 24.

• 47:36Stavros Halkias?

That's, yeah, is that exactly three? I think it is. I'm a math genius. So she's 24, yeah.

• 47:42Speaker 03

  Yeah, so she's, um...

• 47:43Stavros Halkias?

One, look, and I'm no prude here, and I'm not even the, an age gap guy.

• 47:49Speaker 03

  This is an alarming gap.

• 47:50Stavros Halkias?

  50 years is kinda tough.

• 47:52Speaker 03

My dad shouldn't split the difference between my, my boyfriend and I. That's crazy.

• 47:59Stavros Halkias?

  Oh, wow.

• 47:59Speaker 03

Like, who can relate better to my dad, me or my boyfriend, coming from two different sides?

• 48:05Stavros Halkias?

And like, it's kind of a stretch for your dad even.

• 48:07Speaker 03

  I know.

• 48:07Stavros Halkias?

  Like, it's not, there's like a 50-year-old guy and a 72-year-old guy. It's not guaranteed they'll even be friends.

• 48:12Speaker 03

  I know.

• 48:13Stavros Halkias?

  But his daughter?

• 48:14Speaker 03

  I know.

• 48:14Stavros Halkias?

It is hilarious. It, it's like, damn, the, what was he up to before?

• 48:19Speaker 03

I know. I just think the, uh, the wildness of it for me is just the shell shock of like...

• 48:25Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, out of nowhere.

• 48:26Speaker 03

And just, in Bill We Trust, it was like the, the mantra was like, the patriot way, do your job, in Bill We Trust, like, do, everything is gonna work itself out, it's run like a machine, and then now, eh...

• 48:41Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 48:42Speaker 03

  I don't know.

• 48:42Stavros Halkias?

North Carolina's gotta be so pissed.

• 48:44Speaker 03

I think they're at least a little bit like, what's going on?

• 48:47Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. To hire Bill Bell. It was already like, look, he might not, you know, even though I do think he was, I hate to fucking, you know, give anybody from your favorite organization any credit, but I do think-

• 48:59Speaker 03

  But you have to.

• 48:59Stavros Halkias?

I do think he, even at the end, was still a good defensive coach.

• 49:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 49:03Stavros Halkias?

Uh, I mean, their offense was absolute dog shit, but I think he still was like, even when they were really blowing it, he still was, you know, clearly had something in the tank.

• 49:11Speaker 03

  Very talented.

• 49:12Stavros Halkias?

And, and as a prestige hire, it's like, we're North Carolina, we've always been kinda like a second rate, we've always been a basketball school, we've had some fun players and some good teams, but no, we've never really been a program. And it's like, this will put us on the map as like, we are gonna turn into like, a respected-

• 49:28Speaker 03

  We're a football school.

• 49:29Stavros Halkias?

Football, like, program. And to be like, oh, and by the way, there's, there's a whole, no one is talking about our football team.

• 49:36Speaker 03

  At all.

• 49:37Stavros Halkias?

Everyone's talking about how, uh, Belichick's girlfriend could be a TA at North Carolina. She could literally be, she could be a dumb senior at the school.

• 49:46Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 49:47Stavros Halkias?

She could still be enrolled there. She could easily be a grad, uh, student. Um, everyone's talking about that, no one's talking about it, and it's gonna be so funny to just watch.

• 49:55Speaker 03

Very fascinated to see how the season goes, because college football fans famously aren't afraid to use anything they know about you against you.

• 50:03Stavros Halkias?

  Oh, yeah.

• 50:03Speaker 03

And so I can't imagine it's gonna be a lot of people just being like, oh, that's great, good for them, I hope they're happy.

• 50:08Stavros Halkias?

I guess they're lucky that, what, Duke is their big, obviously is their biggest basketball rival, but it's like, like Duke also, so, I mean, they're kind of in the same boat where they've had some randomly good years, but-

• 50:17Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 50:18Stavros Halkias?

I don't know if they're supposed to be good this year, but that's the team-

• 50:20Speaker 03

I don't know anything about college football anymore, because it's all different now.

• 50:23Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 50:23Speaker 03

The system has completely upended, all the, the conferences are different, none of the numbers match up with the numbers of teams.

• 50:30Stavros Halkias?

Hey, nice try, we're still talking about Belichick, okay?

• 50:33Speaker 03

  But there's a big shift.

• 50:35Stavros Halkias?

  You're a pro, you're a pro, I see what you're doing.

• 50:37Speaker 03

  Paying athletes.

• 50:38Stavros Halkias?

And you made a good point, you almost got me.

• 50:40Speaker 03

  Oh, God.

• 50:41Stavros Halkias?

We are, we are gonna, we are gonna circle back to the embarrassing thing about your favorite coach, okay? And then also, I think it works also with Brady, obviously. Because it's like his life is completely fallen to I really think these these are the most like uh cautionary tale like greatness destroys it's not worth it.

• 51:03Speaker 03

  Right.

• 51:03Stavros Halkias?

  It's like

• 51:04Speaker 03

  That's that's why we haven't done it.

• 51:05Stavros Halkias?

That's also yeah, that's exactly why I'll never we're not in the top one hundred.

• 51:10Speaker 03

  Right.

• 51:10Stavros Halkias?

Pod we're barely hanging on to the top one hundred comedy charts, let alone the overall charts. That's what it is. We don't want to pay the price, baby. Here at Stavi's world, we're we're comfortable peeking at like, you know, seventy on the top one hundred when we have a famous guest on.

• 51:25Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 51:26Stavros Halkias?

  Uh.

• 51:26Speaker 03

It feels that way. It feels like you're cool with it.

• 51:29Stavros Halkias?

  I actually

• 51:29Speaker 03

  Is the vibe I'm getting.

• 51:30Stavros Halkias?

I literally am. It rocks. But it's just so funny that that there's and like you saw with the last dance too. It's like, did Jordan look like a guy who was happy?

• 51:39Speaker 03

  No.

• 51:40Stavros Halkias?

Like, how like his eyes are jaundiced.

• 51:42Speaker 03

  I know.

• 51:43Stavros Halkias?

  They're yellow as fuck.

• 51:44Speaker 03

I know. And he's going back to work.

• 51:46Stavros Halkias?

  He's going back to work.

• 51:47Speaker 03

That made me go like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. We are definitely in a recession.

• 51:51Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 51:51Speaker 03

I know the gambling and whatever.

• 51:54Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, how how down is he in blackjack?

• 51:56Speaker 03

How could you possibly? How could you possibly need to come back to work?

• 52:01Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, I think he just doesn't want to be alone with his thoughts is my guess.

• 52:05Speaker 03

  Yeah, and I get it.

• 52:07Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 52:07Speaker 03

I get it. Um but it's just like, you know, with all these athletes coming in and doing podcasts now, you're just like, okay, and what about those of us who just like to watch sports?

• 52:16Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 52:17Speaker 03

Who are just here because they think it's fun and entertaining. Um.

• 52:21Stavros Halkias?

I know. For me, I'll take it a step further. It's like, get the fuck off my fucking block, you motherfuckers. This is all we have.

• 52:28Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 52:29Stavros Halkias?

You're rich, you're you were at at least most of you are still in like pretty good shape. You're, you know, the ones who want to be in media are probably handsome or beautiful. Get the fuck away from us.

• 52:40Speaker 03

  Just leave the podcast alone.

• 52:43Stavros Halkias?

Go be on TV at least, you motherfuckers. We can't have podcasts.

• 52:46Speaker 03

They're paying. So just go get paid by them.

• 52:49Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 52:50Speaker 03

And let us just sit in our on our couches.

• 52:53Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 52:53Speaker 03

In our yucky clothes, talking into our microphones.

• 52:56Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 52:57Speaker 03

Why do you have to take this?

• 52:58Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, they want to take it all from us. And I you know what? We won't let you. We're fighting tooth and nail.

• 53:03Speaker 03

  That's right.

• 53:04Stavros Halkias?

  What? Go listen to casuals.

• 53:05Speaker 03

  That's right. Right now.

• 53:07Stavros Halkias?

Right now. Great show. Um, and yes, you know, Brady's got cuck to oblivion. He sucks it. He sucks it, uh, at calling games. Everyone's, you know, shitting on him for that. That feels good to me.

• 53:20Speaker 03

He's working on it. Look, he throws somebody in one year into, into calling a game like the Super Bowl.

• 53:26Stavros Halkias?

  I know.

• 53:27Speaker 03

  It's tough. It's a challenge.

• 53:28Stavros Halkias?

But that's also the ego of being like, I can be the best. It's like, throw me in it.

• 53:31Speaker 03

If I can play it, I can talk about it. Yeah, I get that. I'd probably be that way too.

• 53:35Stavros Halkias?

And you know, obviously Kraft, you know, sex.

• 53:38Speaker 03

  That was before though.

• 53:39Stavros Halkias?

That was before. That was kind of the harbinger.

• 53:41Speaker 03

He was kind of the first one to go.

• 53:42Stavros Halkias?

That was like the canary in the coal mine.

• 53:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 53:45Stavros Halkias?

But just would like to bring that up for the record, the Kraft family.

• 53:48Speaker 03

  Please. Anything else?

• 53:49Stavros Halkias?

A billionaire took a private jet to go to a, to go to like a weird shitty massage parlor where the women are mistreated.

• 53:56Speaker 03

  Very normal.

• 53:57Stavros Halkias?

Instead of just paying, and we're pro sex work here, by the way. Instead of just paying a high end sex, like he's a fucking billionaire.

• 54:04Speaker 03

Instead of just having a bar mitzvah for your kid.

• 54:06Stavros Halkias?

Getting a bar mitzvah, chatting up the hottest dancer and being like, how would you like to not have to work for two years?

• 54:13Stavros Halkias?

  How would you like a?

• 54:13Speaker 03

  And you're in the pipeline.

• 54:14Stavros Halkias?

How would you like a condo?

• 54:16Speaker 03

Welcome to the organization. Come on in.

• 54:20Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, why don't, I mean, that's, that's the most despicable thing. Cause it's like so clearly a guy that wants someone whose life is bad to jerk him off. Instead of, he doesn't want to get, he doesn't want to let a nut off. Like who amongst us doesn't want to let a nut off?

• 54:35Speaker 03

  Right.

• 54:35Stavros Halkias?

You know what I mean? With his resources.

• 54:37Speaker 03

  Right.

• 54:37Stavros Halkias?

You could be, you could be dealing with the, some of the greatest minds and, you know, talents in the making people nut.

• 54:45Speaker 03

  Innovators in the space.

• 54:46Stavros Halkias?

Innovators in the space. Women who are doing stuff I can't even think of right now. But no, he takes the, he gases up the private jet to go to Florida. And, uh, so anyway, just wanted to.

• 54:57Speaker 03

So anyway, let, those are all the indiscretions from people associated with my team. Also, you know, Aaron Hernandez and the murder and stuff.

• 55:02Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, and we don't, and, and that's actually where this ends. We don't have to talk about the Baltimore Ravens or anything like that. And why don't we start? And why don't we start doing the questions now, Eldis?

• 55:12Speaker 03

  Remember the deer piss?

• 55:13Stavros Halkias?

The deer piss was, I'm pro steroids though, so I don't even care.

• 55:16Speaker 03

You saw they're coming out with a pro steroid league?

• 55:19Stavros Halkias?

Yes, that does look cool. I hate that it's Peter Thiel.

• 55:22Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 55:23Stavros Halkias?

Because he is a fucking piece of shit, but the enhanced games is a great idea.

• 55:27Speaker 03

  Enhanced games.

• 55:28Stavros Halkias?

You kinda have to, again, tip your cap because-

• 55:30Speaker 03

  Someone's gonna die.

• 55:31Stavros Halkias?

Hey, they're gonna die, you know what I mean?

• 55:34Speaker 03

Yeah, they're going, they're going one way or another.

• 55:36Stavros Halkias?

They're going one way or another. Yeah, let's get in the, uh, let's, I guess you're right, cause can you have limits on the amount of steroids?

• 55:43Speaker 03

I don't know, see that, I gotta look into that, but they should have, like, you can do a couple. Their whole pitch was that they wanna unlock human potential.

• 55:50Stavros Halkias?

  Right.

• 55:51Speaker 03

They feel that leagues are stifling our ability to really push the limits.

• 55:56Stavros Halkias?

I do think steroids in, obviously baseball's cool, that's the last time it was like fun to watch baseball, uh, was steroids.

• 56:03Speaker 03

  Disagree.

• 56:04Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, I know, I know you're a big baseball guy.

• 56:05Speaker 03

Me personally, but I get it, I know it's not for everybody.

• 56:08Stavros Halkias?

It wa- obviously, I mean, and I'm a little mad because the Orioles suck this year, uh, we're gonna figure it out.

• 56:14Speaker 03

  Last place currently.

• 56:16Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, it's tough, it is tough, I thought, and-

• 56:18Speaker 03

You're on a little heater, you're on a third game Wednesday, I believe.

• 56:21Stavros Halkias?

What happened to you owner, didn't even spend that much money?

• 56:23Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 56:24Stavros Halkias?

  That fucking pissed me off.

• 56:25Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 56:26Stavros Halkias?

We getting you owner, we're finally free of that cheapskate Greek.

• 56:34Stavros Halkias?

And, and like, and now, anyway, whatever, it doesn't matter. But steroids are cool, but you are, you saying that somebody's gonna die and the fact that it's Peter Thiel, it's like-

• 56:42Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 56:42Stavros Halkias?

Oh, they really are just trying to accelerate, cause you could argue that the NFL, even right now, is taking mostly poor people and giving them brain damage for our entertainment.

• 56:55Speaker 03

Yeah, their, their ticket out of the life that they were born into is brain damage.

• 56:59Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 57:00Speaker 03

Basically, if you boil it down enough.

• 57:01Stavros Halkias?

And then when you really look at how much, like, NFL players make and how much the average career is, really, you could argue not worth it.

• 57:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 57:09Stavros Halkias?

You'd be so much better off having a fucking regu- a blue collar job, actually, probably, right?

• 57:14Speaker 03

I don't know anymore, cause the job market's a mess, but that sounds right.

• 57:18Stavros Halkias?

I mean, we're, not the stars, obviously, but like, when we're talking about special teams guys and stuff like that.

• 57:23Speaker 03

Guys who are like on practice squads for a few years.

• 57:25Stavros Halkias?

Five years in the league and make league minimum, maybe a couple million bucks that after, depending on where they live.

• 57:31Speaker 03

  Right.

• 57:32Stavros Halkias?

After taxes, after age and stuff, like-

• 57:34Speaker 03

And they're out there just as bodies to like push into other bodies, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 57:39Stavros Halkias?

Those, but when you're talking about the enhanced games like, oh, they're really just trying to accelerate how quickly they can use up a person.

• 57:48Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 57:49Stavros Halkias?

Cause like, if you give somebody steroids and just to like, get as fucking strong as possible.

• 57:53Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 57:54Stavros Halkias?

They will be so cool for two years and they will probably be done.

• 57:59Speaker 03

  Damn.

• 58:05Speaker 03

And then that just feels like it could end.

• 58:07Stavros Halkias?

  Well, thanks a lot.

• 58:08Speaker 03

  If it ever even starts.

• 58:09Stavros Halkias?

Thanks a lot. Now I'm not excited about the steroid thing anymore.

• 58:12Speaker 03

Breaking me, breaking me out in hives, so I too am anxious.

• 58:18Stavros Halkias?

All right, LD, why don't we, why don't we?

• 58:20Speaker 03

  Take some calls.

• 58:21Stavros Halkias?

  Take some calls.

• 58:24Speaker 00

• 59:49Speaker 06

Hey Sav, uh, big fan of the show, um, yeah, so I have a problem with source and I just really love your opinion.

• 59:57Stavros Halkias?

  Okay.

• 59:57Speaker 06

Um, I'll jump right into it. I've been with my current boyfriend for about four months. We have a bit of an age gap, it's nine years. I'm currently twenty-four.

• 1:00:08Stavros Halkias?

  Uh, Jordan, Jordan age.

• 1:00:09Speaker 06

But at the beginning of our relationship, as one does, I stalk.

• 1:00:13Stavros Halkias?

I'm gonna guess he's older, cuz he would be fifteen otherwise.

• 1:00:15Speaker 03

  I hope.

• 1:00:19Stavros Halkias?

  Let's finish up.

• 1:00:20Speaker 04

He's nine years older, she said.

• 1:00:21Stavros Halkias?

  Yes, yes.

• 1:00:22Speaker 03

  Okay, okay, okay.

• 1:00:23Speaker 06

I'm currently twenty-four, um, but at the beginning of our relationship, as one does, I stalk his socials and like, let me tell you, I'm really good at it, like CIA level, like, deep, um, like, I'm looking at, like, newspaper articles about him from when he was like eight, kinda thing, um.

• 1:00:46Speaker 03

  Sick.

• 1:00:47Speaker 06

But I didn't really have to dig that deep because I found like, on like, Facebook and Twitter, some really like, cringe content, like, just like, I don't know, it's not anything that people would really like, post now.

• 1:01:02Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:01:03Speaker 06

And it's like, I don't know, it's stuff that is kind of like, personal, or he's like drunk, or it's like fights with his girlfriend that he's posting about, um, well, girlfriend at the time, but I was just wondering, is that, was that normal for the time? Cuz this is like twenty fifteen years ago.

• 1:01:22Stavros Halkias?

  Oh wow, fuck this girl.

• 1:01:24Speaker 06

  Um.

• 1:01:25Speaker 03

I just wanted an old man's opinion. Back in the early days of the internet, is this regular? I'm too young to know.

• 1:01:34Stavros Halkias?

  Fuck you lady.

• 1:01:35Speaker 03

  About Friendster.

• 1:01:37Stavros Halkias?

Why don't you go suck off your white trash boyfriend, older boyfriend?

• 1:01:39Speaker 03

  Your fifteen year old boyfriend?

• 1:01:42Stavros Halkias?

Uh, but anyway, let her finish.

• 1:01:43Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:01:44Speaker 06

  Because I wasn't like

• 1:01:46Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, we get it.

• 1:01:48Speaker 03

  We get it.

• 1:01:49Speaker 06

Um, I'm wondering if it's something that I can bring up to talk to him about because I wouldn't necessarily be with someone that was posting kind of stuff like that now, just because it's unsettling and like just really cringe, um.

• 1:02:02Speaker 03

  I need an example.

• 1:02:03Speaker 06

But yeah, is that something I can talk to him about? Is it a red flag? Do you think someone who would do stuff like that in the past has changed a lot?

• 1:02:12Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:02:13Speaker 06

Um, yeah, anyways. Thank you very much. I'd love your opinion. Anyway, thanks.

• 1:02:20Stavros Halkias?

This is interesting and okay, as much as it pains me to give her an actual answer, yes, there was a time where the internet really felt like a complete Wild West.

• 1:02:29Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:02:29Stavros Halkias?

Like Twitter, like it's crazy that people, you know, it's, this point has been made a lot, but it's crazy that people get cancelled for, were getting cancelled. That seems to be over. It's like Twitter felt like nothing.

• 1:02:41Speaker 03

  Nothing.

• 1:02:41Stavros Halkias?

No one used it. It wasn't important. It was just like the void. Like, you know, there's a, there's that classic tweet where that guy's like, I used to, I used to uh, teach people how to cook crack on Twitter. Now you can't even call a fat bitch fat on Twitter, which is hysterical and exactly, exactly kind of the point.

• 1:03:02Speaker 03

Twitter before it was an app, before we all had smartphones.

• 1:03:05Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, it was just a weird little website.

• 1:03:06Speaker 03

You would text. You could save the number in your phone as Twitter.

• 1:03:11Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:11Speaker 03

And you could send a text to Twitter and it would post it as your tweet.

• 1:03:15Stavros Halkias?

  I know.

• 1:03:15Speaker 03

So I was firing off like, heading to class.

• 1:03:18Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:03:20Speaker 03

  Information that nobody needed.

• 1:03:22Stavros Halkias?

You would post lyrics, you know, like Lil Wayne lyrics. And I think a lot of white people got in trouble for uh, quoting the N-word on Twitter.

• 1:03:29Speaker 03

Before you couldn't, you, there wasn't a button for retweeting. You would have to write RT.

• 1:03:34Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:34Speaker 03

Then you would copy and paste their tweet.

• 1:03:36Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:03:36Speaker 03

And so when, it was funny watching when like that evolved into retweeting. People didn't realize what that was. They thought somebody was just typing.

• 1:03:43Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:43Speaker 03

You know, like, no, that's them retweeting someone else's tweet of lyrics. It's, yeah.

• 1:03:48Stavros Halkias?

It was very funny, but, and yes, people were doing, and Facebook was a bit of a, oh, why, you know, it would be like, what are you thinking about? And do I, did I, I think my, I think we deleted my Facebook when we were like, starting a

• 1:04:00Speaker 03

  Smart.

• 1:04:01Stavros Halkias?

  Business page or some shit.

• 1:04:02Speaker 03

  Smart.

• 1:04:02Stavros Halkias?

Um, but, boy, did I, I mean. I will say this, I didn't do any of that, what she's talking about.

• 1:04:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:04:09Stavros Halkias?

But did I read my Facebook's statuses and cringe about like who I was when I was fucking eighteen or in college? Or like, you want, again, we are talking about, this is the height of our inseldom.

• 1:04:22Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:04:22Stavros Halkias?

And just like the pathetic ways that I'm like clearly trying to get a woman's attention.

• 1:04:27Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:04:28Stavros Halkias?

Or like the simp ass like messages you would send or like, you know, whatever. I just like, literally stuff that, because I'm okay with embarrassing myself and like, you know, I share a lot, but like, when you just see a artifact, a true archaeological, it's not your memories, it's not the way you prepare yourself, it's just the facts of who you are and you can analyze what a fucking loser you were. That's gonna suck for anyone who didn't realize, like, we also didn't know this would be around forever. It just felt like something you posted and it kind of disappeared.

• 1:05:04Speaker 03

  Ephemeral.

• 1:05:05Stavros Halkias?

  It felt very ephemeral.

• 1:05:06Speaker 03

I'm just sending it out, no one's gonna read it, no one's gonna care.

• 1:05:09Stavros Halkias?

Yes, so, part one is, can people change? Absolutely, obviously. It kind of, and I feel bad for kids now because they are just like, gonna have what we described, but video of their whole lives. And acting like fucking losers, or it's gonna be even weirder where they develop some kind of weird split personality because everybody has to have the sort of like, the way like celebrities have like manicured PR versions of themselves. Children have to start doing that.

• 1:05:39Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:05:39Stavros Halkias?

Either they will be embarrassed, or they will become these weird little sociopaths that act like, you know, they have their, act like their own publicist their whole life.

• 1:05:47Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:05:48Stavros Halkias?

So, to answer that part, yes, someone can change. Now, you do happen to have a clear look into what kind of person he was ten to fifteen years ago. And you can do a little, like, how bad is this stuff? You know what I mean? It's like,

• 1:06:03Speaker 03

Because my thought was, It's prob- it might be cringy. It was ten to fifteen years ago, so it could, he might have grown out of it. If it, if it gives you the ick, if you read it and it made you go like, ew.

• 1:06:16Stavros Halkias?

  Well, that-

• 1:06:17Speaker 03

Then that's, that is, you can't, it's hard to move past that.

• 1:06:21Stavros Halkias?

But see, here's what I'll say. Ick is one. I would say, I actually feel like if it's ick, you have to understand, you're not dating him from fifteen years ago.

• 1:06:30Speaker 03

  Sure.

• 1:06:30Stavros Halkias?

  Right?

• 1:06:31Speaker 03

  Sure.

• 1:06:31Stavros Halkias?

And you have to be like, he was a loser, but yes, lot of people, fifteen years ago, you were fucking nine or whatever the fuck. Um, right? Like, he doesn't, hopefully, he doesn't want to date you fifteen years ago either, right?

• 1:06:42Speaker 03

  Fingers crossed.

• 1:06:43Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, I mean, cuz that would be a big red flag, right? Um, I would say ick, you kinda have to like, give him the benefit of the growing out of. I would say, are there bigger red flags? Like, she's saying he's posting like, fight videos, or like drunk, or whatever, like, I guess fights with his girlfriend.

• 1:07:00Speaker 03

  I don't think they're like swearing up.

• 1:07:02Stavros Halkias?

  Good, good, good, good.

• 1:07:03Speaker 04

I think he was posting like some emo shit, like, you know, just talking about breakups and stuff, or being drunk.

• 1:07:08Speaker 03

  He's just oversharing.

• 1:07:10Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:07:10Speaker 03

Which, getting a man to do in general throughout history is very difficult. And so this is probably incredibly vulnerable to him if he knew you had.

• 1:07:19Stavros Halkias?

  True.

• 1:07:19Speaker 03

I would also say, just at this current juncture where we are in the world, hearing from people that are like, trying to find their partner right now, sounds kind of like a nightmare.

• 1:07:29Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:07:29Speaker 03

Um, I, I don't think you gotta dig too deep.

• 1:07:32Stavros Halkias?

No, this is also your fault.

• 1:07:33Speaker 03

You're torturing yourself. Look less, you know? Take a glance at it. Look at, you know, the newspaper article about when he hit, you know, when he went two for four at the plate that day and helped him get to the, to the championship. But I don't think we need to go, like, you shouldn't be like, every night logging in for your time to dig through his old, you'll find something eventually.

• 1:07:54Stavros Halkias?

Well, that's, this is the, that for the phrase, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

• 1:07:59Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:07:59Stavros Halkias?

It's like, yeah, what did you think you, you thought he was gonna be fucking cool fifteen years ago?

• 1:08:04Speaker 03

  Online.

• 1:08:05Stavros Halkias?

Yeah. So fifteen years ago, if he's, if she's twenty-four and he's nine years, fuck, this is like a fucking shitty middle school math problem. So she-

• 1:08:13Speaker 03

  She's twenty-four and he's nine years older?

• 1:08:14Speaker 04

  He was twen-

• 1:08:15Stavros Halkias?

  So he's thirty-four.

• 1:08:17Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:08:17Stavros Halkias?

  So fifty-

• 1:08:18Speaker 04

It was like his early twenties.

• 1:08:19Stavros Halkias?

Right? He's about our age, whatever. So yeah, fifteen years ago- I'm twenty. I don't really want that shit out there.

• 1:08:26Speaker 04

Here's the other thing, I mean, Facebook back then was also like, your Facebook world was like, maybe a hundred people.

• 1:08:32Speaker 03

True, it was like, people you went to college with.

• 1:08:34Speaker 04

That's before like, parents started getting on that and shit. It was like, it's time to look for a new online space.

• 1:08:39Speaker 03

That's when we knew it died.

• 1:08:40Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:08:40Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:41Speaker 03

Like, oh, my mom's here. I don't think.

• 1:08:44Speaker 04

So he thought he was like, posting that dumb shit for like, you know, just his small circle of buddies or people he knows from like, college or something. He didn't think, you know, whatever.

• 1:08:55Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, don't, exactly.

• 1:08:56Speaker 04

His girlfriend now is like, gonna look at that shit a decade later.

• 1:08:58Stavros Halkias?

If, also, if somebody I was dating was like, hey, can I, I wanna talk to you about what you posted January of, of two thousand ten. I'd be like, what the fuck are you talking about?

• 1:09:12Speaker 03

You go for content? You wanna film us talking about it? What could we possibly need to talk about?

• 1:09:15Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, I would be like, why did you do that? That's fucking weird.

• 1:09:18Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:09:18Stavros Halkias?

This is a red flag on your part, is what, like, it is actually more a red flag on you. Again, there is a line where if he's, if he's posting like, white supremacist stuff.

• 1:09:29Speaker 03

Yes, good point, good call out.

• 1:09:30Stavros Halkias?

There's like, you know, you can have a conver, like, there's certain things.

• 1:09:33Speaker 03

Ahead of the curve, that guy.

• 1:09:34Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:09:35Speaker 03

Or way behind it, I don't know, it's hard to know.

• 1:09:36Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, that wasn't the time to do it, but yeah, there'd be a resurgence, but if, there's certain things that obviously, oh, wait, this motherfucker was like, you know,

• 1:09:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:09:45Stavros Halkias?

posting violent shit, or racist shit, or very, any kind of, anything that really like, unsettles you in a way, but like, cringe does not, you cannot, if it's just cringe, you're the one who's in the wrong for looking this up, you know what I mean?

• 1:09:59Speaker 03

I think everybody has to go through a cringe period, to evolve into their final form.

• 1:10:05Stavros Halkias?

  Absolutely.

• 1:10:06Speaker 03

And so I don't think it's possible that anyone has escaped being cringey.

• 1:10:10Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:10:10Speaker 03

And you're looking for it, so you've found it.

• 1:10:13Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, exactly.

• 1:10:15Speaker 03

I think it's like, good that, it, it, it's up to you what you, what your limit for what their cringe could be.

• 1:10:21Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:10:22Speaker 03

Like, I know what would be enough for me to be like, this is not, whatever, but I don't know that, like, it's, uh...

• 1:10:28Stavros Halkias?

What could Dan have posted fifteen years ago to completely derail your entire life right now?

• 1:10:33Speaker 03

I just feel like, uh, I think if he posted like...

• 1:10:39Speaker 03

  I don't know, I think it, no, I don't know, I wouldn't, I, he's it, he's truly it.

• 1:10:44Stavros Halkias?

  There's nothing other-

• 1:10:45Speaker 03

Perfectly been made for each other, I do believe.

• 1:10:48Stavros Halkias?

But there is, yeah, but it's funny, like, cause it, what it would be is something that just is not, Dan would have to be lying about who he is.

• 1:10:55Speaker 03

Right, it would have to reveal to me that like, whoa, that's-

• 1:10:58Stavros Halkias?

He's living some weird double life.

• 1:11:00Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:11:01Stavros Halkias?

Like Dan posted, and he's like, been rich and loves his, his dad is alive and he loves him. You know what I mean, like, it would have to be like-

• 1:11:08Speaker 03

A picture of him and his dad at a 49ers game, and he's like, hey!

• 1:11:10Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, like with Joe Montana.

• 1:11:14Speaker 03

Everything you've told me is wrong!

• 1:11:17Stavros Halkias?

It would have to be something like that, but yeah, so anyway, we've spent enough time on you, our caller here, but you get it.

• 1:11:23Speaker 03

  Stop looking.

• 1:11:23Stavros Halkias?

Stop, stop, and in general, in a world, I think it's good advice for everybody, we're like, we live in a world where everything is documented. We can't be looking for shit, man.

• 1:11:33Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:11:33Stavros Halkias?

We cannot be looking for shit. Go on, LD, what else we got?

• 1:11:39Speaker 06

Hi, staff and honored guests, okay, so, here's the thing, and LD, if possible, could you play this one, the guest is a woman, so I can get both perspectives?

• 1:11:47Speaker 03

  Yes!

• 1:11:48Speaker 06

So, whenever I go out, men don't hit on me, at least not in a serious way. Like, I get catcalls, but when I make the effort and do my makeup, get all dressed up and go out, men never try to like chat me up. Like, I have never gone out and had a guy give me his number. And the thing is, I'm a former frat kid, okay, so, when I was younger, I thought it was just, you know, I was too big to date. But, I'm fit now, I dress well, and I know that I'm attractive, as vain as that sounds, like, I realize my face shape is literally what celebrities are ruining their faces to achieve the thrillers.

• 1:12:22Stavros Halkias?

  Very nice.

• 1:12:23Speaker 06

Like, I go to bars, I go out dancing with friends, I go out alone to art events and coffee shops and even restaurants alone, and men just don't come talk to me.

• 1:12:31Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:12:32Speaker 06

Also, possibly an important note, I dyed my hair red, and I read online that men seem to not approach girls with fun colored hair.

• 1:12:40Stavros Halkias?

  Really?

• 1:12:41Speaker 06

So, I wanna know, is it a real thing that like, a woman can be so attractive that men are afraid to approach her?

• 1:12:46Speaker 03

  Alright, let's relax.

• 1:12:47Speaker 06

I love this, I love this. Can I, can you do this with a woman on?

• 1:12:50Stavros Halkias?

Let's dial it back a little.

• 1:12:50Speaker 06

So she can tell me I'm so hot that men leave me alone?

• 1:12:55Speaker 06

Are afraid to approach her? And I know this sounds so fucking vain, but I promise I'm not an asshole, like, I'm very friendly. I'm kind of the life of the party when we go out. I don't spend all night talking about myself or anything. Like, it's actually been a problem in my life that friends and even strangers love to tell me their whole life story, never ask me any questions.

• 1:13:14Speaker 06

So yeah, and also, how should a girl approach a guy, like, at a bar or a club without making him think that I just wanna sleep with him? Or is that just unavoidable if a girl is making the first move? Okay, this is embarrassing. Thank you, Stavi, bye.

• 1:13:28Speaker 03

Don't be embarrassed, but next time, send a pic.

• 1:13:30Stavros Halkias?

  Yep, true.

• 1:13:31Speaker 03

Just let us, if you're gonna, if we're gonna talk about your face this much, I'd love to see that face.

• 1:13:36Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, like, if you're just saying, if she was just saying like, "Hey, I'm a pretty good-looking, you know what I mean, like, I'm not ugly."

• 1:13:41Speaker 03

  Built like a sports car.

• 1:13:43Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's like, "Haley Bieber has spent forty thousand dollars to get my cheekbones."

• 1:13:49Speaker 03

They bring pictures of my face to their doctor.

• 1:13:54Speaker 03

My first thought, until you went into how hot you are, because I, I a little bit relate. Is it possible you're giving off a "don't fucking talk to me" vibe? Because I've learned that might be, I might be guilty of that every now and then. Wearing flat shoes, that's another thing men notice. She's got flat shoes on and hotter friends, so I'm gonna not even try there.

• 1:14:15Stavros Halkias?

  Right.

• 1:14:16Speaker 03

So it's, that could be possible, that you're giving off like, "I'm really not that interested" vibe. Um, but I mean, she sounds interested, so that might not be it.

• 1:14:24Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, and especially, it's interesting because it doesn't, who she's describing doesn't, like, mesh to me. Where it's like, "Life of the party, strangers will give me their life story, but men won't approach you."

• 1:14:36Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:14:37Stavros Halkias?

Like, if anything, who you're describing gets approached too much, so I am confused here. Now, she said she was a former fat kid, is that what she said? That might be the answer, unfortunately. As someone who, well, because there is just, like, if I was in a room with somebody who, you give me five people who are like, and they're hot now, I promise you I could pick out, if there was one. I promise you I could pick out who grew up fat.

• 1:15:07Speaker 03

Fat only, not ugly in another way.

• 1:15:09Stavros Halkias?

No, no, no. Fat is diff- maybe ugly in another way, I don't know, I have obviously much more, uh, you know, experience with the plus size community. But, but there is like a, a lot of fat guys, when they lose weight, don't ever really fully get their swag going, and, and they stay, they sort of stay, like, kind of fat loser in what they present or how they behave, uh, and especially for men, so much of things are confidence that it's like. You can look, and look, I'm not saying, that's obviously gonna help you out, right, if you lose weight and aren't confident, you're gonna do better than, don't lose weight and don't be confident. And I'm wondering if she has a, the cousin of this, which is like,

• 1:15:54Stavros Halkias?

um, a way that a fat person can also get attention is by, when she's saying life of the party, whatever, that can also be annoying.

• 1:16:02Speaker 03

  She ham.

• 1:16:03Stavros Halkias?

You know what I mean, like, I know, I know plenty of, again, I was probably, like, there were times where I was overdoing it, I think I've sort of figured it out and corrected for it, but there was definitely times where I was like, trying to overcompensate and like.

• 1:16:16Speaker 03

Prove your worth to the group.

• 1:16:18Stavros Halkias?

When it was probably annoying, whatever, I also unfortunately live in a more misogynistic society, so a girl who has the same qualities as a fat, like, the fat party animal guy, there's no equivalent archetype for that, for a woman, which is unfair, but is how society works, and, and in fact, they'll, you'll get like labeled as a fat annoying bitch if you act that way, you know what I mean, which is again unfair. My only think, with all the information I'm getting is like, are you, do, do you give off some of that kind of annoying like vibe, I don't know, but even then. I mean, maybe that's it. Maybe you sort of still have the like, you know, maybe people, maybe you're overwhelming in, in, in multiple ways, right?

• 1:17:03Stavros Halkias?

The hot thing plus that vibe could make you, like, just, they just don't know what to make of you necessarily.

• 1:17:10Speaker 03

They don't know what box to put you in.

• 1:17:11Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, exactly. Cause like, cause, and I have heard from like, you know, hot friends have said like, I get approached less than my friends who are attractive, but slightly less hot than me, right? So if like, if we're to take you and look.

• 1:17:23Speaker 03

At what you're saying as true.

• 1:17:24Stavros Halkias?

No disrespect, but I'm just skeptical of anyone who over, who rates themselves this high, but.

• 1:17:29Speaker 03

  You do sound hot, though.

• 1:17:30Stavros Halkias?

  You sound hot.

• 1:17:31Speaker 03

  You have a hot voice.

• 1:17:32Stavros Halkias?

And I believe that it is possible. Now, maybe face-shaped celebrities pay, you know. You might overdid it a little bit. Maybe, maybe you took a little poetic license.

• 1:17:41Speaker 03

I don't know about the buckle fat.

• 1:17:42Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. But we're not saying you're not hot, but I'm saying like, if this is, the, that's kind of all I can come up with, right? Is that there is, it's some, it's almost like dazzle camouflage where it's so much, cause you're, you're outgoing, you're like, you know, life of the party loud, have this red hair, you know, have this like outgoing like hairstyle, have like, are hot, whatever. Maybe it is a little, I don't know. That's the only thing I can possibly come up with here.

• 1:18:10Speaker 03

Or that you have in your mind, an idea of how not fat, when you were fat before, you were picturing how other people were moving through society, picturing that like, guys were just hitting on girls and girls. And then once you got here, you sort of realized that like, it's still sort of like this. Like, it's not, being a hot isn't what it looks like in the movies, maybe. So this is a little bit of like, correcting your expectations?

• 1:18:37Stavros Halkias?

  That's possible, for sure.

• 1:18:39Speaker 03

Or, um, I guess it's also, I think you should care less about the attention, is usually the best way to, to get it. If you're this smoking hottie.

• 1:18:52Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:54Speaker 03

Then just like go out and enjoy yourself.

• 1:18:56Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:57Speaker 03

And then you're eh eh eh why complain about men not approaching you, I guess is my question.

• 1:19:01Stavros Halkias?

  That's a great point.

• 1:19:02Speaker 03

  What a blessing.

• 1:19:03Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, that's a great, that's another great point. It's like, look, this might not be the way you find a partner, right? Like, you're also like, she's also made it clear she doesn't wanna just fuck, right? And so if you're looking for something a little deeper than this, maybe you're not, yeah. Yeah, I mean, I'm sure you have friends who complain about it, like you're saying, like what a blessing that is. You might just have to find, meet people romantically in a different way, meet them in a. Cause if a girl makes the first move at a bar, yes, they might think, oh, she's trying to fuck. But if a girl makes the first move at the library, or you know, like outside of a movie theater, or in a coffee shop or something. If you, or at a park, if you make it in a more sort of like less charged.

• 1:19:44Stavros Halkias?

Kind of eh implicitly sexual environment that a, the club or a bar is. Then they might be like, oh, I met a nice girl. I wanna go out, you know, ma- and then get drinks or something. So. It's hard to find, you're throwing a lot of information. And this is sort of the best we can do here, but you know. I don't, for example, I don't really like meet a lot of people in random bars, or even when like. Or clubs or anything like that. That was never my thing.

• 1:20:10Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:20:10Stavros Halkias?

Cause you can't really talk in those situations.

• 1:20:12Speaker 03

It's just a lot of yelling.

• 1:20:14Stavros Halkias?

And if you're somebody who like likes to make conversation and like has made women like you by being funny and fun. That's hard when the fucking music's loud. So that was never my thing. It would always be at a more quiet place I would meet, or be a friend of a friend, or like. You know, so that just might not be where you fuck, or make, or you know.

• 1:20:32Speaker 03

  Make a long-term relationship.

• 1:20:34Stavros Halkias?

Eventually, she eventually wants to fuck these guys. She doesn't wanna fuck them the first night.

• 1:20:37Speaker 03

Just don't let it affect your confidence. You sound like you know exactly who you are and how beautiful you are. And if they're not approaching you, then okay, that, then they're not eh up to your standard.

• 1:20:46Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:20:46Speaker 03

I think, don't you worry about their opinions of you. Don't change to them.

• 1:20:50Stavros Halkias?

I agree. I think, I think, yes, don't bend to the, cause like, at the end of the day, why do you wanna do that? Who gives a fuck?

• 1:20:56Speaker 03

Then you're gonna spend the rest of your life bending and you're gonna be very annoyed, cause you are this hot chick with fiery red hair.

• 1:21:01Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, which sounds cool. I. Personally love dumb hair. I think it's cool shit. I I like it.

• 1:21:07Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:21:07Stavros Halkias?

Like like bubble gum pick like you know what I mean like I like dumb shit like that.

• 1:21:11Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:21:12Stavros Halkias?

Uh but you know, I'm not your average Joe, I suppose.

• 1:21:15Speaker 03

  That's so true.

• 1:21:16Stavros Halkias?

Um, interesting. Well, good luck, pal. Okay.

• 1:21:19Speaker 03

Give me one of the crazy ones. Don't we have a crazy one? You guys always get wild.

• 1:21:23Stavros Halkias?

  We'll get wild ones, Elvis.

• 1:21:27Speaker 06

Hey, Stavi. Um, love the show. Love Elvis. Just wanted to call and get a male's perspective about the situation I found myself in.

• 1:21:39Stavros Halkias?

  Okay.

• 1:21:40Speaker 06

I'm seeing this new guy, um, and he recently revealed to me that he lives with his ex-girlfriend.

• 1:21:47Speaker 03

  Nope, nope.

• 1:21:48Speaker 06

Like on our first date, uh, I asked if he had a roommate and he was like, yeah, I have a roommate. And like in my head, I was thinking like, is it your ex-girlfriend? And then he was like, it's my ex-girlfriend.

• 1:22:01Stavros Halkias?

  Oh, no.

• 1:22:01Speaker 06

And it's like, for me, like, I'm pretty poly and like doing this like relationship anarchy thing. So, I don't really like, I'm not like jealous that he lives with his ex-girlfriend, but it does kind of spark some interesting like independent man. You know what I mean? Like, it just doesn't feel like he's a very independent man.

• 1:22:22Stavros Halkias?

  Hmm, fascinating.

• 1:22:23Speaker 06

He said that he's been living with her for like two and a half years. Or they've been broken up for two and a half years.

• 1:22:29Speaker 03

  What?

• 1:22:29Speaker 06

So they've moved together one time.

• 1:22:32Speaker 03

  They moved together?

• 1:22:33Speaker 06

Which I just think is like really, um.

• 1:22:35Stavros Halkias?

  So they are roommates now?

• 1:22:37Speaker 03

  Wait a second.

• 1:22:38Stavros Halkias?

  There's no way.

• 1:22:39Speaker 03

  Wait a second.

• 1:22:40Stavros Halkias?

They don't occasionally fuck? I mean, I guess she doesn't care.

• 1:22:44Speaker 03

They entered into a new lease.

• 1:22:46Stavros Halkias?

  That's lunacy.

• 1:22:48Speaker 03

  No way.

• 1:22:48Stavros Halkias?

That's one of the fucking craziest things I've ever heard in my fucking life. All right, keep going, Elvis. What the fuck?

• 1:22:54Speaker 06

Time since the breakup, which I just think is like really, um, I don't know. And so I was like kind of, you know, inquiring about his place and, you know, I asked him like how much he pays and he says he pays like twelve fifty. So in the area that we live in, like you could definitely like get a studio apartment for like that price for sure.

• 1:23:14Speaker 03

  Not even financially.

• 1:23:15Speaker 06

Like I pay like eleven hundred for mine.

• 1:23:16Stavros Halkias?

  That's crazy.

• 1:23:16Speaker 06

Um, so yeah, basically, I just want.

• 1:23:19Speaker 07

I want to know, um, what's the male perspective could be on that?

• 1:23:23Stavros Halkias?

I don't even think, pause this, I don't even think you need a male perspective, I just need, think you need anyone but you's perspective.

• 1:23:29Speaker 03

Anyone outside of, it almost feels like the, the poly community. I feel like they're so good at being open minded and not going like, well.

• 1:23:37Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, the incredible rationalization.

• 1:23:40Speaker 03

Well, and it's, it's just that they, they got a new lease in a new apartment. It's like, yeah, this is all screaming to me.

• 1:23:46Stavros Halkias?

  Totally.

• 1:23:46Speaker 03

  Not cool.

• 1:23:48Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, even the, look, look, whatever, the poly, saying your policy, you don't care, it's like, first of all, it's not like he just had, he has a girl girlfriend.

• 1:23:54Speaker 03

She's not in the poly queue, yeah, yeah.

• 1:23:56Stavros Halkias?

You're, like, this is ex, that's different than somebody who might even have random sex, like, it's just a bizarre move. This is fucking crazy. And even if you, cause like, it's not like probably people aren't jealous, they're just like, understand that like.

• 1:24:12Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:24:12Stavros Halkias?

If the, you know, whatever, we've agreed to certain things, this is not part of that agreement in any way.

• 1:24:17Speaker 03

  You didn't sign anything.

• 1:24:18Stavros Halkias?

This is a weird fucked up situation.

• 1:24:20Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:24:20Stavros Halkias?

  That is bizarre.

• 1:24:21Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:24:21Stavros Halkias?

Now, if they were like, are there people, I guess, should we let her finish?

• 1:24:25Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:24:25Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, let her finish.

• 1:24:26Speaker 07

That's the male perspective could be on that. I asked him about, um, you know, like, does he like the company, like, you know what I mean? He's kind of indifferent to, um, even having your roommate in general. And her dog is like viciously annoying. Like, we were at his place, like, making out on the couch, and the dog kept like trying to, the ex-girlfriend's dog kept trying to like bite me. And, um, yeah, it just was like, kind of ridiculous. So we went into his room, cause I was like, dude, I'm coming with him. And then, uh, the dog just stood out the door, outside of his door and barked the entire time.

• 1:25:02Stavros Halkias?

  Dude, that's fucked up.

• 1:25:03Speaker 03

No chance I could come in that situation.

• 1:25:05Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, I mean, that's insane.

• 1:25:06Speaker 07

Dude, why do you have to live here? Um, but, yeah, anyways, that's my question. I hope I make it on the show. Okay.

• 1:25:15Stavros Halkias?

  You definitely made it.

• 1:25:16Speaker 03

  Too understanding and sweet.

• 1:25:17Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, I mean, this is insane.

• 1:25:19Speaker 03

This is wild. You've got a shitty dog that doesn't need to be in the picture at all.

• 1:25:23Stavros Halkias?

  Not at all.

• 1:25:24Speaker 03

It's an ex-girlfriend's dog. Also, you can't really ex-someone until you are forced apart from each other.

• 1:25:31Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, that's a good point.

• 1:25:32Speaker 03

You can't really grow from the relationship if you just stayed in it, but started having sex outside of it.

• 1:25:38Stavros Halkias?

  Right, right, right.

• 1:25:39Speaker 03

You should in no way have to go to this guy's ex-girlfriend's place of living currently in order to have sex with this guy.

• 1:25:46Stavros Halkias?

No, you're so right. The fact that there was never a break from living together.

• 1:25:50Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:25:51Stavros Halkias?

Like, even if you don't fuck, there are weird relationship intimacy aspects where it's like, you can't immediately become just roommates then.

• 1:26:00Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:26:01Stavros Halkias?

It's one, a-again, I think the point I was gonna make earlier was like, are there exes that become legitimate platonic friends? Yes.

• 1:26:08Speaker 03

  Sure.

• 1:26:08Stavros Halkias?

  That happens, right?

• 1:26:09Speaker 03

  But you need time.

• 1:26:09Stavros Halkias?

But you need time, or maybe one of them's gay. Like, the only way this is acceptable is if she came out as a lesbian.

• 1:26:16Speaker 03

  Yes, yes.

• 1:26:16Stavros Halkias?

Like, truly, I legitimately think that, like-

• 1:26:18Speaker 03

Because, like, is he making her meals? Are they watching, when neither of them have plans, are they sitting on the couch and, like, watching a show together?

• 1:26:25Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, like-

• 1:26:26Speaker 03

Like, that's too much with an ex.

• 1:26:27Stavros Halkias?

The only way I could even sort of see this as not weird in the way we're thinking of it is if this guy is so indifferent and, like, absent-minded.

• 1:26:39Speaker 03

  Sleep at the wheel.

• 1:26:40Stavros Halkias?

And sleep at the, like, I have friends who are, like, so fucking stupid, there's, like, oh, okay, I'll do that. Like, if he's one of those guys who has zero going on in his brain.

• 1:26:49Speaker 03

  So get out anyway.

• 1:26:50Stavros Halkias?

And, exactly. It's like, and if he's the kinda guy that doesn't find this, doesn't see why this is weird.

• 1:26:55Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:26:55Stavros Halkias?

That's also fucked up. He's like a complete dullard and you don't wanna be, so, yes, this is bizarre, male perspective, female perspe- any perspective, this is fucking weird as shit, and, uh, I don't know, like-

• 1:27:10Speaker 03

Find out if she's doing his chores for him. That feels important.

• 1:27:14Stavros Halkias?

Like, do they, I mean, they-

• 1:27:16Speaker 04

I wonder, I wonder if it's possible that, you know, they were poly, maybe, like- The boundaries of the relationship were so like, you know, dissolved or hazy when they were in a polycule that

• 1:27:30Stavros Halkias?

  They kind of became roommates.

• 1:27:32Speaker 04

  Extended to

• 1:27:33Stavros Halkias?

  The way gay

• 1:27:34Speaker 04

  To the post-relationship life.

• 1:27:36Stavros Halkias?

The way old gay dudes eventually just become roommates. Cause they just fuck a hundred other guy. They have like in an open relationship and they're like, oh, it's my room, like.

• 1:27:43Speaker 03

Is he poly or is she poly?

• 1:27:46Stavros Halkias?

Oh, true, true. We don't know if he's poly.

• 1:27:48Speaker 03

But also I don't know that, I don't know much about that community. So I don't know if it's like, if she says she's poly.

• 1:27:52Stavros Halkias?

No, no, it's not like that. I don't, he's not automatically like that. I mean, we don't know, right?

• 1:27:57Speaker 03

  We don't know.

• 1:27:58Stavros Halkias?

I guess we, you can suppose that the kind of

• 1:28:00Speaker 03

We'll be Googling relationship anarchy for sure. That sounds like a thing that somebody learned on a podcast.

• 1:28:05Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, if I had to guess, relationship anarchy just means like, there's no order, there's no like, you don't rank your partners. It's like, just, it's pretty much like free love, I suppose. Um, but anyway, this is fucked up and weird any way you slice it. And, and because even our friend here is calling in, she's even saying, it's not the sex, she doesn't have the sexual hangup, so. You're right, he's fucking weird to do this. Anyone who would agree to do this is fucking weird in some way. And I don't have a read of the situation that's charitable to your boyfriend.

• 1:28:39Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:28:40Stavros Halkias?

I can't, I, right now, I'm struggling to find a way where I'm like, this dude is not fucking weird.

• 1:28:45Speaker 03

Yeah, I can't, I'm being less charitable, but I too can't find it. I just feel like if I got in a fight with my boyfriend and I knew he was at home with his ex, I would just constantly be like, is he going? That bitch, she doesn't do it like, and then they just bang and I don't know.

• 1:28:58Stavros Halkias?

Well, that's another thing. If you live, you're around your ex for long enough, you're probably gonna fuck them.

• 1:29:04Speaker 03

You've done it before. If you want it, it, you can, I don't know, it just feels like a recipe for disaster and it's like.

• 1:29:10Stavros Halkias?

Right, nothing good can come of it.

• 1:29:11Speaker 03

I don't want to tell you to get out of something if you're fully in love with this guy. I think you can be a regular guy maybe and have found yourself in this situation, but it does feel like the point about independence stands out to me. It's like you don't want a guy who is this lazy about his living situation.

• 1:29:26Stavros Halkias?

Who's so about inert, like, clearly inertia is the strongest force in this man's life.

• 1:29:31Speaker 03

Maybe he's incredibly powerful and successful business-wise and just lets his personal life-

• 1:29:36Stavros Halkias?

No, let me stop you right there.

• 1:29:38Speaker 03

-fall completely to shit. But this is a new level of like, you need to grow up and get your own place. This is, I usually hate when people say that to somebody with roommates if it's like-

• 1:29:47Stavros Halkias?

  Or get a different roommate!

• 1:29:49Speaker 03

  Right, it's like you can-

• 1:29:50Stavros Halkias?

Just get a different fucking roommate!

• 1:29:51Speaker 03

I'm not trying to shame you for having a roommate, it's the fact that it's a girl you used to regularly have sex with.

• 1:29:56Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, who you broke up with two and a half years ago!

• 1:29:58Speaker 03

Whose dog is very territorial of-

• 1:30:00Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, by the way, the dog is enough for a reason to move out!

• 1:30:04Speaker 03

The dog is like, "They're fucking, they're fucking, they're fucking!"

• 1:30:09Stavros Halkias?

Alright, that's fucking, you wanted crazy, we kinda-

• 1:30:11Speaker 03

  Wild, duh!

• 1:30:12Stavros Halkias?

That was Aldous warming up, you have-

• 1:30:14Speaker 03

  Wild!

• 1:30:14Stavros Halkias?

You have a couple more to throw at our friend Katie here, Aldous?

• 1:30:16Speaker 03

  Let's hear them.

• 1:30:18Speaker 04

Yeah, here's another kinda crazy one.

• 1:30:20Speaker 07

Hey, so, so, basically, uh, I was just chilling the other day and my girl's like, "Yo, um, somebody just sent me a naked picture of you and a girl on Instagram."

• 1:30:35Stavros Halkias?

  Whoa.

• 1:30:36Speaker 07

And I'm like, "What?", because you know, I'm not cheating, so-

• 1:30:40Stavros Halkias?

  Okay.

• 1:30:40Speaker 07

She's like, "Yeah, they sent it and then they, uh, deleted it like, right away." And I was like, "Okay", and apparently there was like a long ass paragraph that went with it. And I was like, "Alright, so, uh, what was like, can you tell me anything about like, what it looked like? Or like, you know, like what was like, what could you see?"

• 1:31:01Stavros Halkias?

Babe, that dick is way too big to be mine.

• 1:31:04Speaker 03

  You know that.

• 1:31:05Speaker 07

From the information I got, I figured out this was a girl that I dated kinda off and on back in the day. Crazy ass bitch, so-

• 1:31:15Speaker 03

  I'm sure.

• 1:31:15Speaker 07

Yeah, man, uh, basically, I guess she like, fucking sent like a fucking screenshot of a sex tape-

• 1:31:22Speaker 03

  Ooh!

• 1:31:23Speaker 07

-to my girl, like, on Instagram- Like a different account and like.

• 1:31:28Stavros Halkias?

  That's tough.

• 1:31:28Speaker 07

You know, I mean, that's weird. So I don't know, like, should I like.

• 1:31:35Speaker 07

It's like on the one hand, like, you know, it's an issue of like, damn, there's like news floating around.

• 1:31:42Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, that's not great.

• 1:31:43Speaker 07

She had this, like, I've deleted everything on my end, so like, you know, long since, so like, I don't like, that's kind of concerning that she would just like send that out there.

• 1:31:53Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, it's weird.

• 1:31:54Speaker 07

I get whatever I guess, but like, you know.

• 1:31:56Stavros Halkias?

  It is illegal, probably.

• 1:31:58Speaker 07

Calm down, my girl, everything. So, you know, I talked to her. I was like, yo, like, this is who this is, like, this is the reason, like. Yeah, yeah, she's super cool about it. I have my fricking like sister come in, who knows, both like off and down, but anyway. Uh, so yeah, long story short.

• 1:32:12Stavros Halkias?

  Get a character witness, testify.

• 1:32:15Speaker 07

So what do I do? Do I go to this, uh, crazy ex about this and be like, yo, like.

• 1:32:20Stavros Halkias?

  He's exactly what she wants.

• 1:32:21Speaker 07

Like, except my news around or whatever, or like, do I just let it go? I'm tempted to let it go because I feel like talking to her about it will only just like. Give her what she wants, but whatever. Give me your thoughts, though.

• 1:32:33Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:32:34Speaker 03

So is he saying that he didn't know she had a sex tape in sense of they both had it and they, he thought they deleted it? Or he didn't know she recorded it?

• 1:32:43Stavros Halkias?

I'm guessing, uh, he thinks it was deleted, um, but could be the other one as well. You never know.

• 1:32:51Speaker 03

If it's the other one, you, if you wanted to, you could call the probably cops on that. That's, they're not allowed to do that.

• 1:32:58Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:32:59Speaker 04

They won't do shit, but yeah.

• 1:33:00Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, the police, the police are really gonna be.

• 1:33:06Speaker 03

Certainly send it over and we could take a look at it.

• 1:33:08Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you have ones where you're not as prominently featured as kind of her? You see your tits more?

• 1:33:14Speaker 03

Is there like, can you guys do a POV one? Just for me?

• 1:33:18Stavros Halkias?

Now, were you ever wearing a, maybe a police officer's uniform in any of these pornographies? Could you send that one over? Um.

• 1:33:25Speaker 04

You do, you do gotta commend this guy because it sounds like he kept it so cool and collected when his girl came at him and he was just, you know, she's probably freaking out. He's just like, well, what did it say? What was the contents of this image?

• 1:33:38Stavros Halkias?

Yeah. He's just, you know. And like, I'm of two minds here, right? One, I'd like to say this is a good guy who something weird happened to him. Two, this is a liar who's using our show as a way to put on record. He's like, babe, look, I even, when I was talking to the podcast about it.

• 1:33:54Speaker 03

Stop, Ross. You think I'd launder my image through Stavros's podcast?

• 1:33:59Stavros Halkias?

I really feel like we do get some calls that are someone trying to go on the record in a third way.

• 1:34:05Speaker 03

I've watched clips and gone, that guy's just, this is evidence. This is evidence.

• 1:34:09Stavros Halkias?

But I don't think this is that. I do, I agree with you, Aldous. This is kind of the way to handle something. This, you're like, I know I'm not doing anything wrong.

• 1:34:18Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:34:18Stavros Halkias?

So can we please together get to the bottom of what is going on here? Now, it's also unfortunately a great tactic to gaslight. Um, but I do take him at his word and hopefully his sister's a good person and not someone who would just aid in a, in a ga- I don't think that's a family of gaslighters. Yeah.

• 1:34:38Speaker 03

Cause my brother never does anything wrong. He's an angel.

• 1:34:43Stavros Halkias?

  Um, so.

• 1:34:44Speaker 03

I mean, but what was the ex trying to even say? Like, what's the, why delete it? That I don't get. Why'd she delete the message right after she sent it to her? What's the, what's the, I feel like, uh, I feel like information's being left out.

• 1:35:01Stavros Halkias?

I mean, I guess if we're gonna, again, take him at his word, that is, there's somebody who's just kind of maliciously doing this.

• 1:35:07Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:35:08Stavros Halkias?

To fuck with his, to fuck with him. Um, and look, he's, she might be this person, you know, he called her crazy bitch, whatever. He also, we don't know the level of how it ended.

• 1:35:18Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:35:19Stavros Halkias?

He said he cut her off. It was on again, off again.

• 1:35:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:35:22Stavros Halkias?

There's certainly relationships that in your mind, you handled a lot better than you actually did in reality. So this, this is probably a mix of he mistreated her a li- a bit, but not enough to warrant doing something like this.

• 1:35:37Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:35:37Stavros Halkias?

Um, this is kind of like somebody is, you know.

• 1:35:40Speaker 03

  Years later, this is?

• 1:35:41Stavros Halkias?

Years later, it sounds like. I mean.

• 1:35:43Speaker 03

  What's the fucking point?

• 1:35:45Stavros Halkias?

I mean, you know, who knows, right? And that's, and the delete, why did she delete it? Maybe because, you know, she didn't want the evidence or the scrutiny for him to be like, "Oh, this is from..."

• 1:35:55Speaker 03

Yeah, as you can see, I didn't have my tattoo yet.

• 1:35:57Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:35:58Speaker 03

  So this is clearly...

• 1:35:59Stavros Halkias?

I hadn't done my cover up. I hadn't done my cover up yet.

• 1:36:02Speaker 03

Yeah, I think that if we are taking you at your word, definitely don't reach out.

• 1:36:07Stavros Halkias?

  Definitely don't.

• 1:36:07Speaker 03

Definitely don't reach out, potentially block.

• 1:36:10Stavros Halkias?

Like, this is the kind of thing where you don't reach out to the person directly, ever.

• 1:36:13Speaker 03

  Ever.

• 1:36:14Stavros Halkias?

And if it continues to be a problem, you go to a lawyer. You don't ever try and handle this with somebody who, if we're talking about somebody who's potentially leaking, like, doing, this is a revenge porn, essentially.

• 1:36:24Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:36:24Stavros Halkias?

And like, you do not deal with them at all, especially if it's somebody who clearly wants some kind of reaction.

• 1:36:30Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:36:31Stavros Halkias?

Is trying to fuck your shit up. So, yeah, dude.

• 1:36:33Speaker 03

  Don't reach out.

• 1:36:33Stavros Halkias?

Don't reach out. And if it keeps going on, that's when you consider a lawyer, or I guess the police, even though they're not obviously going to do anything about it. But, yeah, lawyer is your better bet in that circumstance. Uh, don't, uh, you do not reach out to this person. Wild move.

• 1:36:49Speaker 03

  Ever again.

• 1:36:50Stavros Halkias?

  No, certainly not.

• 1:36:54Speaker 00

• 1:38:19Speaker 01

Eldis, Davi, guest, what up? Gay Ravens, baby, let's fuck and get it. Fuck the cheese, fuck the bangles, fuck the...

• 1:38:28Stavros Halkias?

  Right about all that.

• 1:38:30Speaker 01

My mother-in-law wants me to call her mom. I think that's a little bit weird, quite frankly. I've, the first time I ever met my mother-in-law, I said, I looked at her, I was like, if my wife, if the girl I'm dating looks like you in 50 years, I'm stoked. So I'm not saying like...

• 1:38:52Stavros Halkias?

The guy wants to fuck his mother-in-law.

• 1:38:54Speaker 03

Yeah, that's it. That's what we're running into here.

• 1:38:56Stavros Halkias?

He's basically like, this is too directly Freudian for me. To call, to call an older woman, I wanna fuck mom.

• 1:39:04Speaker 03

I don't wanna close the door, just in case something happens to my wife.

• 1:39:10Stavros Halkias?

Oh, that's fucking awesome. Respect for giving us that. First, it was weird already. You didn't have to let us know that you kinda wanna fuck this lady.

• 1:39:17Speaker 03

  I'm stoked.

• 1:39:18Stavros Halkias?

I'm stoked. Alright, what else we got?

• 1:39:20Speaker 01

So I'm not saying like I have sexual feelings or anything, but like...

• 1:39:26Speaker 03

  Right. We get you.

• 1:39:27Speaker 01

I don't know. I'm like, so yeah, I don't know. It's weird, but like, basically, I'm under some pressure to call her mom. She wants me to say it, but like...

• 1:39:42Stavros Halkias?

  That's weird.

• 1:39:42Speaker 01

My mom's also still alive and well, and...

• 1:39:47Speaker 01

  I don't know, I'm in my mid-

• 1:39:48Stavros Halkias?

I mean, it wouldn't be, hold on-

• 1:39:49Speaker 01

  Thirty-three, and, uh-

• 1:39:52Stavros Halkias?

It wouldn't be less weird if your mom was dead. He's like, "Well, my mom's still alive, so I don't need a replacement mom."

• 1:39:59Speaker 03

  I'm already calling someone mom, I can't-

• 1:40:01Stavros Halkias?

I can't do it until my mom's in the dirt.

• 1:40:04Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:40:04Stavros Halkias?

Like, that's fucking, you thinking that's weird? There's a lot going on here.

• 1:40:10Speaker 03

Not till my mom dies, lady.

• 1:40:12Stavros Halkias?

Look, Barbara, when my mom dies, and you get a little less sexy, hopefully it's in eight years, you know, you've let yourself go a little bit. Maybe, we can think about it.

• 1:40:24Speaker 01

Thirty-three, and, uh, I just think it's kind of weird.

• 1:40:31Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 1:40:32Stavros Halkias?

  It is.

• 1:40:32Speaker 01

But also, like, my wife's not exactly going to bat for me on this one, and like, not being like, "Yo, mom, that's strange," I'm just like, it's a little odd for me personally. I love some context here, I don't know.

• 1:40:48Stavros Halkias?

  Context for me?

• 1:40:49Speaker 01

Most people I talk to are just like, "This is odd." Love an expert, love you guys.

• 1:40:54Stavros Halkias?

You're not exactly an expert on this topic.

• 1:40:55Speaker 01

  Fuck the Yankees.

• 1:40:56Speaker 03

  Wait, fuck the Yankees?

• 1:40:57Stavros Halkias?

You're right, you said the phrase that unites the whole podcast. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:41:02Speaker 03

  I'm gonna call him mom.

• 1:41:03Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, from Baltimore.

• 1:41:05Speaker 03

What if you tried out like a ma?

• 1:41:08Stavros Halkias?

  Hmm.

• 1:41:09Speaker 03

Cause I know my dad calls my, I'm like thinking about, my dad calls my, or called, rest in peace, my mom's mom, ma.

• 1:41:16Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:41:17Speaker 03

Cause it's, you know, you're not gonna say like, Matilda.

• 1:41:20Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:41:21Speaker 03

  Ma, um-

• 1:41:22Stavros Halkias?

I mean, that's so fucking cr- what, like-

• 1:41:25Speaker 03

Once you've been married for a while, I think it's normal, but I guess maybe he's just saying it's too early. The insistence upon it is what's strange.

• 1:41:33Stavros Halkias?

  The insistence is really strange.

• 1:41:35Speaker 03

It's like, okay, she said that to me twice, and then we'd get past it, but if she was like, "Hey, and you should call me mom."

• 1:41:42Stavros Halkias?

She's like, coming out in a low, low cut top.

• 1:41:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:41:45Stavros Halkias?

No bra, you can see her nipples, she's like, "Call me mom."

• 1:41:47Speaker 03

  Mommy's fine.

• 1:41:49Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, ma, yeah, or mommy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, start calling her mommy. Up the s- here's the thing, you gotta fight through this.

• 1:41:55Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:41:55Stavros Halkias?

  Up the stakes.

• 1:41:56Speaker 03

  Out alpha the alpha.

• 1:41:57Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:41:58Speaker 03

  Mommy. Mommy.

• 1:41:59Stavros Halkias?

  Hey mommy.

• 1:42:00Speaker 03

  Mama.

• 1:42:01Stavros Halkias?

Um, I mean, it is, okay, so, let's break this down step by step.

• 1:42:07Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:42:10Stavros Halkias?

  The insistence is very weird.

• 1:42:11Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:42:12Stavros Halkias?

What do people traditionally do? I don't even know.

• 1:42:14Speaker 03

I'm like trying to think through, I feel like I um. I know, I mean, Dan and I aren't married yet. He calls my parents by their names. I don't think you, I can't picture him ever calling my dad dad. I think that would be wild, especially because his.

• 1:42:27Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, are you gonna call this guy dad?

• 1:42:29Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:42:30Stavros Halkias?

You're gonna call her, you're gonna call her husband dad? Hey, mom and dad.

• 1:42:33Speaker 03

I think people do. Again, once you've been married for a while and this person has been like a mother figure in your life.

• 1:42:41Stavros Halkias?

  I guess.

• 1:42:41Speaker 03

Then I guess you'd call them mom. But early on. I mean, what if it's the, the mom, the mother-in-law trying to, she's picking up that you'd fuck her. And she's trying to establish a boundary. Call me mother.

• 1:42:56Stavros Halkias?

Or maybe she's moving, or maybe she's moving the ball forward a little bit.

• 1:42:59Speaker 03

We need to know if dad is in the picture or not. That would clear things up for us, I think.

• 1:43:04Stavros Halkias?

I do find it weird. Well, here's where I, what I think is the weirdest aspect of all this. Why your wife doesn't have your back here, right? If you tell your wife like. Honestly, it's a little weird for me. I can't see myself being the kind of guy that calls my mother-in-law mom. Can you talk to your mom about this? Or can we kind of like, can you, can you kind of give me a little? You know, advice on how you think I should, you know, your mom, like what's her, what's his wife's vibe on this?

• 1:43:30Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:43:31Stavros Halkias?

That's the part that's confusing me the most, right? Because. An inflexible mother-in-law, unfortunately, it's an archetype, but it's also an archetype for the, for a reason, right?

• 1:43:40Speaker 03

  Quite a bit.

• 1:43:41Stavros Halkias?

There is often in, in-laws, it's a reason why it's like the most. Across all cultures, you wanna, you wanna safe target? Pick and you, yeah, pick in-laws. Um, if, if you don't wanna be racist or homophobic, right? Like, if you don't wanna just go to the, if you don't wanna, if you wanna be offensive, you wanna just be. You know, something that can be on network TV that'll play in every country across the world. In-laws is who you make fun of.

• 1:44:06Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:44:06Stavros Halkias?

For stuff like this, they have weird little hangups that you don't wanna do, but you have to put up with them because they're your, you know, spouse's parents. I do find it strange, your wife does not have your back here, or at least isn't kinda like.

• 1:44:19Speaker 03

  Ma, lay off of him.

• 1:44:20Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:44:20Speaker 03

He'll call you mom when he's ready.

• 1:44:22Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:44:23Speaker 03

He's gonna be around for the rest of our lives, hopefully.

• 1:44:25Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:44:26Speaker 03

I would just try to say like, hey, I'm gonna call you mom. Something about it for me, I'm not really like there yet. Would it be okay if I get there on my own time?

• 1:44:34Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:44:35Speaker 03

  That's what I would say.

• 1:44:36Stavros Halkias?

And then she's like, how, what would it take to get you on that?

• 1:44:38Speaker 03

Show me those tits and I'll start calling you mommy.

• 1:44:41Stavros Halkias?

She starts counting you down, she's like, what about in ten? Nine.

• 1:44:47Stavros Halkias?

He's like, oh, oh, stop counting.

• 1:44:51Stavros Halkias?

  I have to go.

• 1:44:56Stavros Halkias?

Uh, yeah, I don't know, man. This is fucking strange, but I agree. I think Katie. I, I, I, we just don't know enough about these people, right?

• 1:45:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:45:04Stavros Halkias?

  Cause like.

• 1:45:04Speaker 04

I do like Katie's ma idea. Like, do they have a motherly nickname for her within the family that you can sort of like adopt?

• 1:45:13Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:45:13Speaker 04

Cause mom is like too specific.

• 1:45:15Stavros Halkias?

  Mom is fucked up, dude.

• 1:45:16Speaker 04

Yeah, is there a ma? Is there like, uh, I don't know, like, uh, or even like any nickname they might have for her?

• 1:45:22Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:45:23Speaker 04

  I think that's a nice little compromise.

• 1:45:24Stavros Halkias?

Families often have like family nicknames. You know, my grandma, we, we would call her Hyuna. That was like her, like. It was like her nickname in her family growing up.

• 1:45:33Speaker 03

  Cute, yeah.

• 1:45:34Stavros Halkias?

Cause she was, she was very pale and it means snow.

• 1:45:36Speaker 03

  Whoa.

• 1:45:36Stavros Halkias?

Uh, and so they're, you know, like, she basically like.

• 1:45:38Speaker 03

  And your grandmother did Informer?

• 1:45:40Stavros Halkias?

Uh, yeah, she. She was big in the white reggae community.

• 1:45:47Stavros Halkias?

Uh, but yeah, some kind of middle ground, some kind of family thing that. You know, connotes closeness, but isn't like.

• 1:45:54Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:45:54Stavros Halkias?

Doesn't have the loaded in every direction. Mom is, you know, mom, mommy, dad, daddy. Those are loaded terms.

• 1:46:03Speaker 03

In, in ways, in a lot of ways, yes.

• 1:46:05Stavros Halkias?

Psychologically, in many ways, and I would stay away from it.

• 1:46:07Speaker 03

If you're really socially adept, I feel like you could even introduce a fun new nickname for her. That she loves, that then replaces in her mind the need for you to call her mom. So you could just be like, hey, big G? And she'd be like, oh, that's great. And then that turns out. And the whole thing goes away. It never comes up again.

• 1:46:26Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:46:27Speaker 03

  I think.

• 1:46:27Stavros Halkias?

I think that's a great one, but that is a high, that's a high like level maneuver.

• 1:46:32Speaker 03

Yes, you would have to really make it not obvious you were trying to replace the mom thing. She can't catch on.

• 1:46:38Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:46:38Speaker 03

But it's just gonna happen naturally and it's gotta catch fire. It's gotta be a good nickname.

• 1:46:43Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, absolutely. So.

• 1:46:44Speaker 03

  That's what I would try.

• 1:46:45Stavros Halkias?

That's tough, though. What you're describing is really tough.

• 1:46:47Speaker 03

  Only for the high level.

• 1:46:49Stavros Halkias?

Yeah. So, you know, good luck. I don't think he has that in him, unfortunately. Just from the a minute thirty five we spent.

• 1:46:57Speaker 03

He did say fuck the Yankees.

• 1:46:58Stavros Halkias?

  Fuck the Yankees.

• 1:46:58Speaker 03

He's got a good head on his shoulders.

• 1:47:00Stavros Halkias?

Some good common ground on this.

• 1:47:01Speaker 03

And who doesn't wanna fuck their mother in law? Just a little bit. Just to see how it feels.

• 1:47:06Stavros Halkias?

Well, that's honestly, the thing I'm thinking of is like, what is her vibe? Because that also is another archetype is the kinda milfy, sort of seem like. The weirdest woman in the world to me is the one who seems to have a competition with her daughter.

• 1:47:21Speaker 03

  It's a lot of.

• 1:47:22Stavros Halkias?

And that's a, that's a crazy a lot amount of people where it's like, they're sort of trying to cuck their, like, is that what's going on here?

• 1:47:29Speaker 03

When she insists you call her mom, is she touching you physically?

• 1:47:34Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:47:34Speaker 03

That to me is the tell. She's like, hey.

• 1:47:38Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, yeah, the little thumb waggle. She gives you a thumb waggle. That's too much.

• 1:47:42Speaker 03

  She's insisting.

• 1:47:43Stavros Halkias?

But is, or is she doing it from a, now, if she's doing it from a.

• 1:47:46Speaker 03

  Call me mom, please.

• 1:47:48Stavros Halkias?

Doing it from a purely sort of like almost grandmotherly perspective, then that's the only way I would consider folding.

• 1:47:55Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:47:55Stavros Halkias?

If she's so, if you, but we already know that's not the case because he wants to fuck her. So never mind. Never mind. Just figure this out. Try the nickname thing.

• 1:48:04Speaker 03

Give her a nickname or just ma.

• 1:48:05Stavros Halkias?

  Ma.

• 1:48:06Speaker 03

Try mother and that'll just put her off to it.

• 1:48:08Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, mother.

• 1:48:09Speaker 03

Hello, mother. She's gonna hate that. So that's.

• 1:48:12Stavros Halkias?

And again, what's going on with you? That's another thing I would wonder is like.

• 1:48:16Speaker 03

What's up with your wife? Why isn't she on your side?

• 1:48:18Stavros Halkias?

You're gonna come up with stuff that's more serious than this.

• 1:48:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:48:22Stavros Halkias?

Even within the family and if she can't kinda, if you guys can't be a united front on call me mom. What happens when there's some weird like, you know, uh, like legal battle within the family? What, you know what I mean? Like some kind of inheritance squabble, you know what I mean? Like, who knows? Whatever. I hope it doesn't happen, but something to consider.

• 1:48:40Speaker 03

  Also very common.

• 1:48:42Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, happens unfortunately. You got something fun for us to go out on here, little LD?

• 1:48:49Stavros Halkias?

Hey, Stavi baby. Hey, uh, big fan. Uh, loved your.

• 1:48:54Speaker 06

So in Portland when you came out here. March anyways, um, listen, man, with the baseball season going on. Um, I like was born and raised a Mariners fan. But you know, like they suck, so I, uh, I decided like this year. I was gonna break up with them like, like it's a toxic relationship and then start rooting for the Orioles. So I became an O's fan this season, but now.

• 1:49:22Speaker 03

He's just saying it. He's just saying it like it's normal. Like we're gonna breeze past the like. They suck, so I broke up with them Orioles fan now. Here's my question. It's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. How'd you pick the Orioles?

• 1:49:35Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, I mean.

• 1:49:36Speaker 03

What a weird choice if you're trying to get out of toxicity.

• 1:49:39Stavros Halkias?

I guess in a weird way, cause you don't, what you don't wanna do is do the classic, I'm a Yankee, Red Sox, whatever fan now. Like I'm, I'm like a, I'm like a big historically successful. Like you don't wanna be the guy who's like, you break up with your small market team and you're like, I root for the Lakers now.

• 1:49:56Speaker 03

  I love the Chiefs.

• 1:49:57Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, exactly, right? So I guess I could, now, this is just a man who doesn't know his history though. Because the Orioles have had a couple good seasons. We've choked in the playoffs both times. And, uh, I guess you could be like, okay, they're, which, there's a world where you could be like, they're a young team. That was getting it together. They got, they've been embarrassed a couple of times. They're gonna come roaring back. I'm gonna be on the ground floor of this thing. That's the only, and they're not, you know, they haven't won in forever. You know, fun city, what, you know, fun ballpark. I wanna go to Camden Yards, whatever the fuck. Maybe that's how he came to it, but brother.

• 1:50:35Speaker 03

I need to know where he is geographically.

• 1:50:36Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, true, true, true.

• 1:50:38Speaker 03

Cause what a weird choice. You can barely, it's gonna be a huge trip to get out to a game for your team, unless they come.

• 1:50:46Stavros Halkias?

That's bizarre. You, you didn't pick, maybe the team's in their like division he hates too much to like. So maybe like, anything on the west coast kinda was like, he couldn't do, but, uh, we don't need to fuck. We can bleep. Well, it doesn't matter. Uh, we don't even know that that's his fuck. Anyway, whatever. Elders is just fucking stupid. Um, so anyway, yeah.

• 1:51:09Speaker 06

They fucking suck. I don't know what that's about. Um, and it's really, really hurting.

• 1:51:15Stavros Halkias?

And I'm wondering like, how do I go back to being like?

• 1:51:19Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 1:51:20Stavros Halkias?

  Maybe a Mariners fan?

• 1:51:21Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 1:51:22Stavros Halkias?

Or like, do it, what? I don't know, it just doesn't feel right being an O's fan right now.

• 1:51:26Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 1:51:26Stavros Halkias?

  Like, uh, they, they suck.

• 1:51:28Speaker 03

There goes your theory about getting into the ground level.

• 1:51:31Stavros Halkias?

I don't know what to do. Yeah, but I think that's what he was doing though. Stick it out for the rest of the season and, and stay an O's fan?

• 1:51:36Speaker 03

  One season?

• 1:51:37Stavros Halkias?

Break my heart, cause they suck. Break your heart, first of all, shut the fuck up. Let me know.

• 1:51:41Speaker 03

This year, he decided, this year, he broke up with the Mariners.

• 1:51:45Stavros Halkias?

  How fucking dare you, dude?

• 1:51:46Speaker 03

We aren't even through to, we're not even at the All-Star break.

• 1:51:49Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, they could still turn it around, by the way, you fucking asshole.

• 1:51:54Speaker 03

This is the thing that people always forget about baseball is you try to get back into baseball and you take it way too seriously, way too early.

• 1:51:59Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:52:00Speaker 03

And you don't just go like, dude, we have so much time, people are gonna change teams, shit's gonna go down.

• 1:52:06Stavros Halkias?

I still remember, 2007, my senior year of high school, the Orioles were leading the AL East at the break, and we didn't even make the fucking playoffs.

• 1:52:12Speaker 03

Yeah, means absolutely nothing. So, your willingness to bail this early, to me, alarms me.

• 1:52:20Stavros Halkias?

  Yes.

• 1:52:21Speaker 03

  Alarms me.

• 1:52:22Stavros Halkias?

You know, so fuck you, what do you mean, yeah, you barely were in this, why did you even choose it? Now, could you go back to the Mariners? Yes, and, but now you have to stay with the Mariners forever. This is like-

• 1:52:31Speaker 03

  I like the Mariners.

• 1:52:33Stavros Halkias?

  I know, by the way-

• 1:52:34Speaker 03

They're thunder root four, they don't, it's not going great, you know, but they're-

• 1:52:38Stavros Halkias?

  It's like-

• 1:52:38Speaker 03

  Thunder root four.

• 1:52:39Stavros Halkias?

I mean, I don't know, I'm a, I'm a very ca- look, I am a casual baseball fan for sure, right? Like, I watch, I'll throw an O's game on in the background.

• 1:52:48Speaker 03

Yeah, that's what it's for, by the way.

• 1:52:49Stavros Halkias?

Baseball's the best background, like, I don't want it to be completely silent, but I wanna, you know, just, I'll catch that, I'll watch highlights. When I'm home, I, I try and go to a game if they're in the playoffs, and I'm, I've been, you know, I've been working, but I was planning this year to go to playoff games, we'll see. But like, you know, I'm that level of fan, and the thing is- They've been and I was a big fan when I was a little kid, so like um so there is there is something in me that when the Orioles start making runs, I pay more attention and when they win, then you know, I think it'll happen. It's gonna be that much sweeter and that's the whole thing with the Mariners, right? Like and I have I had a thing, I had something kinda similar to this in terms of like.

• 1:53:34Stavros Halkias?

You know, when I moved to New York ten years ago, Baltimore doesn't have a basketball team.

• 1:53:39Speaker 03

I was gonna say the Knicks.

• 1:53:40Stavros Halkias?

Exactly, Baltimore doesn't have a basketball team.

• 1:53:42Speaker 03

But it's not. You didn't just pick out a team on the opposite side of the country.

• 1:53:44Stavros Halkias?

No, I moved here, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I moved here, I loved, I always loved New York, I I always.

• 1:53:50Speaker 03

You didn't have a ba- a basketball team, you were replacing somebody.

• 1:53:51Stavros Halkias?

Didn't have a basketball team growing up, yeah, yeah, exactly. So but even for me, it's like I feel like I've I've put in already ten years of being a Knicks fan. I I watched Kristaps Porzingis get drafted at an open mic on the Lower East Side. I was at the game where he fucking uh tears his ACL, the last game he played as a Knicks fan, as a Knicks mem- a member of the Knicks, I was at that one. I watched the first Knicks home uh playoff win during the COVID season against the Hawks. Uh I went to fucking games, you know, I've been to a lot of them, right? I feel like I've put my time in.

• 1:54:26Speaker 03

You saw that loss? Let's not forget the loss you just saw to the Pacers.

• 1:54:29Stavros Halkias?

The most devastating sporting event I've ever been to in my life that like I'm just getting over now. And if we hadn't made that awesome comeback, I would wanna fucking blow my brains out, but I feel like I've put in my time.

• 1:54:41Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:54:41Stavros Halkias?

And I fully feel like I've, you know, earned being a Knicks fan, whatever. You're not a fucking Orioles fan at all, dude. You know what I mean? Like I've sat through the har- when I was a kid, we had great teams that always got fucking smoked. Uh you know, and then we were just dog shit and then you know, the couple times we flirted uh with the you know, we lose to the fucking, you know, Machado gets hurt, we lose to Kansas City. Uh and we just haven't ever been back in a real way in the playoffs since. You fucking have been been around for, you know, two months and you're talking about this sucks?

• 1:55:17Speaker 03

Cold weather baseball, we're not even warm yet.

• 1:55:19Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, what the fuck are you talking about, dude?

• 1:55:20Speaker 03

You can't be this mad. You can and here's what I'm. I'm gonna say, if it said, if you asked, which you did, what do I do? Do I just like go back to being a Mariners fan? My best advice to you honestly is yes.

• 1:55:31Stavros Halkias?

  Absolutely.

• 1:55:31Speaker 03

Get over whatever this was. It was just a little dalliance.

• 1:55:34Stavros Halkias?

It's like cheating on your wife twice?

• 1:55:36Speaker 03

You like thought about cheating. This is like you were entertaining.

• 1:55:39Stavros Halkias?

  What have I done?

• 1:55:40Speaker 03

  You were emotionally, yeah.

• 1:55:42Stavros Halkias?

And you hide this. You never, you fucking burn whatever O's came. He hasn't even bought memorabilia yet.

• 1:55:47Speaker 03

No chance. Just, you just go back and forget about this, atone for your sins.

• 1:55:54Stavros Halkias?

A tone for your sins. Buying you jersey.

• 1:55:55Speaker 03

Fully to the Mariners. Yeah, get a Julio Rodriguez jersey.

• 1:55:59Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:56:00Speaker 03

And then get out there and then when the Mariners win, you're gonna laugh to yourself about like, thank God I didn't. Remember when I was gonna jump ship? Cause how much does that suck? You jump ship, the team wins without you and you're like, uh, okay.

• 1:56:14Stavros Halkias?

You can't go back. That's the thing.

• 1:56:15Speaker 03

  Right.

• 1:56:15Stavros Halkias?

You have to realize this, what you're feeling now, imagine how much worse it would be if it's four years later. The O's still haven't been good and the Mariners start putting it together.

• 1:56:24Speaker 03

And then all of your, I don't know, friends, if you grew up with friends that were all Mariners fans, are all celebrating how good the Mariners are and you have to be like, I picked the O's.

• 1:56:33Stavros Halkias?

And then you try and come back and they will never let you hear the end of it.

• 1:56:36Speaker 03

I wouldn't. If they let you in, they're weird friends. They're not good friends.

• 1:56:39Stavros Halkias?

Friend like that, if I had an O, like a friend of mine who was like cheering for the fucking like White Sox or some shit. I mean, another horrible team, obviously, but like, whatever. If they, and then the O's got good and they were like, oh, hey, guys. You would never let them hear the end of it.

• 1:56:52Speaker 03

Do what any sensible baseball fan does, which is you gotta pick an NL team.

• 1:56:57Stavros Halkias?

  Yes.

• 1:56:58Speaker 03

Have a National League team that you root for. Have a team that you're like, look, this isn't my team, but I heavily fuck with them. And when my team's pissing me off, I watch their games instead.

• 1:57:08Stavros Halkias?

I was a, the Mets were that for me as a kid and it was almost like, that's also part of the Knicks thing, also part of the like, I've been in Queens for 10 years. They've all, they were always, I always, you know, you kinda always knew you wanted to move to New York. I did anyway. So that was always for me, right? When the Mets were bad and then, you know, and it was cool because, I mean, they fucking lost to the Yankees. But when the Mets are in the subway series, I get to root against.

• 1:57:30Speaker 03

  New York.

• 1:57:30Stavros Halkias?

The Yankees. It was awesome. So it's like, maybe that's what you want to do. You want to pick something where it's like, who, who is the like, you know, the, the, your biggest rivals, like, NL, who would they hate the most? To be in the World Series and maybe, but you're so right. How do you not have an NL?

• 1:57:48Speaker 03

Yeah, you just pick an NL team.

• 1:57:49Stavros Halkias?

  That's crazy.

• 1:57:51Speaker 03

I feel like a generation of us all, uh, I feel like the Braves were very popular in the sense because of TBS. So I know a lot of people have like, the Braves are their secondary team.

• 1:58:00Stavros Halkias?

The Cubs run a lot, I feel like, well, but they were bad, but, but the Cubs, I feel like were on a lot as well.

• 1:58:05Speaker 03

Yeah, you just gotta have another team. You just gotta have teams you root for. I think, don't be crazy about your fandom in the sense that you think you can't like another team. Like, you can watch as many teams as you want to. I just don't thi- I mean, breaking up with your team, and then giving up on your new team after a couple weeks?

• 1:58:21Stavros Halkias?

You are so right. It's a dalliance. It's, it's a, you know, you went on, you, you're on, uh, the Sugar Baby website.

• 1:58:29Speaker 03

You're on Ashley Madison. You made the account.

• 1:58:32Stavros Halkias?

You went on a date, maybe you got your dick rubbed through your jeans, but nothing more has happened. Now, you can still turn back.

• 1:58:39Speaker 03

  Go back to your wife.

• 1:58:40Stavros Halkias?

Turn back, but you're getting, you know.

• 1:58:42Speaker 03

  Give yourself to your marriage.

• 1:58:43Stavros Halkias?

  Yes, yes, yes.

• 1:58:44Speaker 03

  You know, get her flowers.

• 1:58:45Stavros Halkias?

  Renewal ceremony.

• 1:58:47Speaker 03

  It.

• 1:58:47Stavros Halkias?

  Fix it, dude.

• 1:58:48Speaker 03

Fix it, because your emails got leaked on Ashley Madison and we're all gonna see that you were on there, so.

• 1:58:53Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, and we don't want you, by the way. Fuck you, dude. You're a fucking bros fan. Fuck this guy. We're gonna fucking turn around. It's early yet. Lot of talent in this ball club.

• 1:59:02Speaker 03

Last place. Three-game win streak, last place.

• 1:59:04Stavros Halkias?

We're getting there. That's all, that's all we'll take. Um, alright, well, listen. I think that's gonna do it. Katie, thank you so much for being here.

• 1:59:11Speaker 03

Thank you for having us. It was so fun.

• 1:59:12Stavros Halkias?

I had a blast. Plug the show. Where else can people see you?

• 1:59:15Speaker 03

Oh, casuals. It's, uh, twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, wherever you get your audio podcasts. We're not on YouTube yet. Please don't scream at me. Um, uh, it's through Sirius XM, but you- I know, I know, but the editing of the video, we don't have enough people. Sirius is an audio company and I'm in this partnership with them for a little bit.

• 1:59:34Stavros Halkias?

  Yeah.

• 1:59:35Speaker 03

So I would like it to focus on, they're, all their stuff is audio numbers based.

• 1:59:38Stavros Halkias?

I mean, I also think audio, I mean, video obviously is important, but you guys are doing- Clips, you're doing the stuff that matters.

• 1:59:43Speaker 03

For discoverability. We'll get there. It's just we're not there yet.

• 1:59:46Stavros Halkias?

Yeah, you'll get there. Great show, very fun.

• 1:59:48Speaker 03

Thank you. You don't need Sirius to listen to it. You get it wherever you get your podcasts.

• 1:59:52Stavros Halkias?

A ton of different, you have a really interesting like mix of guests where it's not just, you know, it's not just like other sports personalities. It's like, it is athletes, it's comedians, it's just, it's interesting people. So, check it out. Great show. I did the first one. You can see me lose my shit. I'm really sad. We had just lost in the playoffs. And

• 2:00:13Speaker 03

  It was really good.

• 2:00:14Stavros Halkias?

I made it so that Katie can say fuck on her own show.

• 2:00:16Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 2:00:17Stavros Halkias?

  Thanks to me.

• 2:00:17Speaker 03

He said it a hundred times.

• 2:00:18Stavros Halkias?

I mean, I said it a lot. And I think I said like, you know, Josh Allen can suck my dick. I think I was pretty graphic, but.

• 2:00:25Speaker 03

Stuff like this did come up. Yes.

• 2:00:27Stavros Halkias?

Which actually, I do like Josh, actually. It's hard to respect him so much because he is good.

• 2:00:33Speaker 03

Doesn't mean he can't suck your dick.

• 2:00:35Stavros Halkias?

He can also still suck my dick. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Fuck the Bills. This is our year, baby. The Ravens are fucking taking it all. Uh, go watch Casuals, listen to Casuals, and we will see you next time, guys. Bye-bye.
