• 0:00Dax Shepard?

  We get support from Quince.

• 0:02Speaker 01

Okay, can we talk about the fact that the holidays are already here? It's crazy. I feel like I blinked and now we're in gifting season, which I'm not really mad about because I do love giving gifts. And Quince is making it so easy to find something great for everyone on my list, including myself, because let's be honest, self-gifting is a love language.

• 0:22Dax Shepard?

Quince is seriously the gift that keeps on giving. Their high-quality staples are made with premium materials like 100% Mongolian cashmere, 14-karat gold, and Italian leather. Full-on luxury quality at prices that won't wreck your holiday budget.

• 0:38Speaker 01

It's the dream. The cashmere sweater is starting at $60. Down jackets, wool outerwear, cashmere accessories. You and everyone on your list are staying cozy and looking incredible all season long.

• 0:49Dax Shepard?

Well, I'm gonna tell you this, it just got chilly for the first time this year in California, and I'm so excited, and I'm wearing my Quince cashmere right now.

• 0:56Speaker 01

  It's great.

• 0:57Dax Shepard?

Yeah, and I am going to gift this to some of my friends. I hope they're not listening.

• 1:01Speaker 01

Quince is also more than clothing. They've got fine jewelry for your significant other, leather bags for your bestie, hotel-quality bedding to set up your guest rooms, chef-grade cookware. That's an amazing thing they offer here, and it's such a good gift because people don't like buying cookware for themselves, but it's very important. And they also have five-star luggage, another good gift that people don't like buying for themselves.

• 1:23Dax Shepard?

Give the gift of quality this holiday season. Download the Quince app for app-exclusive offers, or go to quince.com. Get free shipping on your order and 365-day returns. Now available in Canada and the UK too. And when Quince asks where you heard about them, let them know it was Armchair Expert. It's the best way to support the show. This episode is brought to you by McDonald's. The Quarter Pounder with Cheese with Medium Fries and a Drink is now $8.

• 1:54Speaker 01

  What?

• 1:55Dax Shepard?

Okay, I need to talk about something that doesn't get enough respect. The Quarter Pounder with Cheese. This is not a casual burger. This is a crafted burger. We're talking 100% fresh beef cooked right when you order it. No artificial flavors, no fillers, no preservatives. Just beef doing what beef is supposed to do. And here's a detail I love. There's a cowbell sound in the kitchen. When somebody orders a quarter pounder with cheese, a cowbell goes off and the grill master throws a fresh patty down. That's like having your own entrance music at McDonald's. I want a cowbell for everything in life. The onions are hand topped by someone who just knows the right amount. Two slices of cheese laid out in a star pattern. So every single bite gets cheese and two pickles side by side. So you're never in a pickle desert.

• 2:39Dax Shepard?

Every bite is accounted for. Someone engineered this thing with love. I love a quarter.

• 2:45Speaker 01

Me too. That's my order. It's a quarter pounder with cheese. I love it. I didn't know they put so much effort that they did a star formation. I should have known because you can taste.

• 2:57Dax Shepard?

You can taste it. Yeah. The love. Don't tell anyone this, but I'll put two of them back.

• 3:01Speaker 01

  Yeah, I'm not surprised.

• 3:03Dax Shepard?

The quarter pounder with cheese with fries and a drink. Now $8 for a limited time only, only at McDonald's. For a limited time only, prices and participation may vary. Prices may be higher in Hawaii, Alaska, and California and for delivery. Fresh beef not available in Alaska and Hawaii. Offer not valid for delivery.

• 3:37Speaker 01

Money, there's a sparkly hat. No, wait, you have a special one too. You don't have to switch it. So there's right next to you, Daddy, is a bunch of different hats. There's a sparkly version. I also got you some antler ones if you wanted. That one I got for you, Money. Oh, I love fun. Yes.

• 3:55Speaker 02

  That's really, that's really something.

• 3:57Dax Shepard?

Jacob, are you in need of a hat? Are you still pushing your merch brand? Do you want to get that out on the?

• 4:04Speaker 03

This is actually a friend of mine's thing, but I'll wear that guy.

• 4:07Dax Shepard?

  Which one? Sparkly?

• 4:08Speaker 03

  I think I'll go sparkly.

• 4:09Dax Shepard?

You feels like a sparkly guy to me.

• 4:11Speaker 03

You feels like a sparkly guy.

• 4:13Dax Shepard?

Okay, welcome everybody to the Christmas episode.

• 4:16Speaker 01

  Happy holidays.

• 4:18Dax Shepard?

Happy holidays. Okay, so we have really fun guests. Of course, people will know you, Anna Kendrick. People know you, Kristen Bell. People are going to. A lot of people will know you guys, but a lot of people will be meeting you.

• 4:30Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 4:30Dax Shepard?

  Gabe Gibbs.

• 4:31Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 4:32Dax Shepard?

I got to see you for the first time perform. What were you guys doing? What was that called? The Cabaret Show?

• 4:38Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 4:39Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 4:39Speaker 04

  A Cabaret Show, yes.

• 4:40Dax Shepard?

  Okay, great.

• 4:41Speaker 04

Emily Golay's Cabaret Show. How it's pronounced.

• 4:44Dax Shepard?

And first check in the great category is you're a Michigander?

• 4:48Speaker 03

  Yeah, baby.

• 4:48Dax Shepard?

Yeah. If the hat didn't, so.

• 4:50Speaker 03

Oh, my God. Thank you guys for the hat. The Lions hat. Oh, so good. Go team.

• 4:55Dax Shepard?

And where are you from in Michigan, Gabe?

• 4:57Speaker 03

  I'm from like Rochester area.

• 4:59Dax Shepard?

  Right.

• 5:00Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 5:00Dax Shepard?

We talked about that. Exit 69, Big Beaver.

• 5:02Speaker 03

  That's right.

• 5:02Dax Shepard?

  That was your exit.

• 5:03Speaker 03

  That's right.

• 5:03Dax Shepard?

  That's a for real thing.

• 5:04Speaker 03

  It is.

• 5:05Dax Shepard?

Anna, you don't know that about Michigan, but.

• 5:06Speaker 04

I don't know anything about Michigan.

• 5:07Dax Shepard?

Big Beaver Road is exit number 69.

• 5:11Speaker 04

  Okay, it's locked in.

• 5:11Speaker 01

  Oh, no.

• 5:12Speaker 04

  It's locked in.

• 5:13Speaker 01

  They did it on purpose?

• 5:14Speaker 04

They had a field day with that growing up. We were all learning to drive, like, where are you gonna drive to? Uh, I thought it was Big Beaver 69.

• 5:21Speaker 03

  Some nasty city planners.

• 5:23Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 5:24Speaker 04

  I like that. Rascals.

• 5:26Dax Shepard?

And then where are you from?

• 5:27Speaker 03

  I'm from South Florida.

• 5:29Dax Shepard?

  You are?

• 5:29Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 5:30Dax Shepard?

  Okay.

• 5:30Speaker 01

  Well, let's get his name.

• 5:31Speaker 03

  Oh, Jacob.

• 5:32Dax Shepard?

  Jacob Jeffries.

• 5:33Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 5:34Dax Shepard?

Yeah. And you and Wabi Wab already know each other?

• 5:35Speaker 03

I, yeah, I know Wabi. I met Wabi at a pool party, right? A long time ago? Yeah, that's right. That's right.

• 5:41Dax Shepard?

  Was Wabi in swimwear?

• 5:43Speaker 03

We might have, we might have been in swimwear together.

• 5:46Speaker 01

  Was he wearing his Speedo?

• 5:48Speaker 03

No, but picture it. It could be fun.

• 5:51Speaker 01

Well, he told us that he just shaved his pubic hair.

• 5:54Dax Shepard?

  No.

• 5:55Speaker 03

  Not just.

• 5:55Dax Shepard?

  Wow.

• 5:56Speaker 01

One time, you did it one time into a landing strip for funnies.

• 6:01Dax Shepard?

We were talking about whether a Brazilian had the landing strip or not. And then somehow we learned, this was just a couple of weeks ago, that Wab gave himself a landing strip just to make Natalie laugh. Wabi, in the comments, I'm sure you've seen, people love that.

• 6:15Speaker 01

Of course. Who doesn't love that?

• 6:17Dax Shepard?

Yeah. He's a wascal. Okay, so we're gonna sing a bunch of songs. We're going to. Learn some backstory on Christmas, favorite presents, that type of thing. We're gonna eat a lot of cookies and sweets. Wabi Wab, of course, always makes really delicious cookies and Rice Krispie treats. And then I have a surprise to, a culinary surprise. And so we'll be breaking to chow down at some point, too. And then we'll do a gift exchange and that's the run of the show. So what I would love to do, instead of trying to describe, Gabe, your genius, I would love to start with a little taste of your-

• 6:52Speaker 05

  Sure.

• 6:52Dax Shepard?

  Yeah, your-

• 6:53Speaker 05

  Sure, sure.

• 6:54Dax Shepard?

  Your focus as a musician.

• 6:55Speaker 05

Jacob and I can, can switch. We can switch real quick, a little shuffle-ruh.

• 7:01Dax Shepard?

Also, huge shout out to Wabi Wab, cuz the garage looks insane.

• 7:07Speaker 04

I especially love that the sorting hat is wearing a Christmas hat.

• 7:11Speaker 02

  Oh my god!

• 7:13Speaker 04

  It's very, it's a nice touch.

• 7:15Speaker 02

  So cute.

• 7:17Speaker 01

Also, the crow is wearing a-

• 7:18Dax Shepard?

  Oh, he is!

• 7:20Speaker 02

  Which is so cute.

• 7:22Dax Shepard?

And thank you, Lincoln and Delta. I stole the tree out of their bedroom and they don't know that?

• 7:26Speaker 04

That's the tree from their bedroom?

• 7:27Dax Shepard?

  Yes.

• 7:27Speaker 04

I thought you threw it out, because they were both saying the needles were falling. And I was like, thank god he threw it out.

• 7:32Dax Shepard?

No, I threw it in here. I threw it in.

• 7:35Speaker 01

You know what I like? I like an old candy cane ornament. It's very classic.

• 7:39Dax Shepard?

  Yeah, with some white lights.

• 7:42Speaker 01

Yeah, well, candy cane ornaments are really for colored lights.

• 7:45Dax Shepard?

Sorry, before we kick off, just a quick vote. I know where you two stand, but are you a white light or a colored light person on your Christmas tree?

• 7:51Speaker 02

I can't really decide. I have scared people away by bringing them to my house around Christmas time, cuz I really go crazy.

• 7:59Dax Shepard?

  You do?

• 8:00Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 8:00Dax Shepard?

  Harder than we do?

• 8:01Speaker 02

All signs of mental illness come forward at Christmas time. How many trees? I have, I have a silver and gold room. So it's like a monochromatic, so that's all, you know.

• 8:11Speaker 04

  Great.

• 8:12Speaker 02

And then I have a green and brass room. So that's more like traditional, warm, right? And then I started, a couple of years ago, I started collecting antique ornaments from like the 50s and 60s. And, and that's kind of my like candy colored explosion room.

• 8:26Dax Shepard?

Do you need new pants, mommy?

• 8:29Speaker 04

Slip right off this couch. I love a theme and I love a holiday. And that really got my motor running.

• 8:36Speaker 02

Well, I was wondering, in the living room, I was wondering like who did everything? And I didn't, I mean, I assume it was sort of everyone, a team effort. I don't know. No? I was, there's some touches in there that I'm very impressed by.

• 8:46Speaker 04

I like to have a theme every year. We've done Whoville and The Grinch. We've done Vintage Christmas. We've done a couple of different things.

• 8:53Dax Shepard?

  Candy?

• 8:54Speaker 04

This year was gonna be Candy Christmas, a lot of pepperminty stuff. And then Wicked came out. And I said, psych, we're gonna rip it all down, which I did. And then went for the wicked theme and did everything pink and green. But I love a theme.

• 9:06Speaker 02

Yeah, no, that's like a problem and we're the same.

• 9:11Speaker 04

  And it's, it's not a problem.

• 9:12Speaker 02

  Okay, okay.

• 9:13Dax Shepard?

So the thing I hope people are tracking is like, just a month ago, Anna said, you know, Kristen texted me and I really felt bad. I ghosted her because I was just nervous. And then we fixed that. And then you guys started texting.

• 9:24Speaker 04

  Oh, just wait.

• 9:25Dax Shepard?

  Yes.

• 9:26Speaker 04

  You'll never see me again.

• 9:29Dax Shepard?

And now you're singing together. I just have, I have so much optimism about where this is going. Now we find out about this spectacular design, Christmas display.

• 9:38Speaker 04

  Yeah, this is exciting.

• 9:39Speaker 02

This is exciting. Although I think the last time I saw you two, I did say, I don't know if it was in the episode or not, but I did say, oh, if I had to sing with Kristen, I would be very nervous.

• 9:47Speaker 04

  You did say that.

• 9:48Speaker 02

And I would wanna like get prepped for months and months. And did I have time for that? No, ma'am! Is, do I have a knot in my shoulder? Yes, I do!

• 9:58Speaker 04

  Oh, it'll be.

• 9:59Dax Shepard?

Did I pull out some of my eyebrows this morning? No, I didn't!

• 10:01Speaker 02

  It's a secret!

• 10:02Speaker 04

  I think you're, I think you're, you're.

• 10:05Speaker 02

  Delusional.

• 10:05Speaker 04

You're delusional. Because I felt all the same things and I'm sweating. In fact, I even put on a red tank top because I know I'm gonna start flashing when we start singing. I'm gonna have to take this off.

• 10:14Dax Shepard?

Also, let's make sure your visitor badge is still on your.

• 10:16Speaker 04

Yeah, why are you a visitor?

• 10:17Dax Shepard?

She wanted to brag that she helped kids today. That's low, honey. That's really tasteless.

• 10:22Speaker 04

  I went to Children's Hospital.

• 10:24Speaker 02

  Oh, that's sweet.

• 10:26Dax Shepard?

  Okay, Gabe.

• 10:27Speaker 05

  Yes.

• 10:27Dax Shepard?

Why don't you rock our world a little bit?

• 10:29Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 10:31Speaker 05

This is a tiny bit of setup, if that's okay.

• 10:33Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 10:35Speaker 05

Broadway does these things where they take existing, they're called jukebox musicals, and they take existing people's music and turn them into Broadway shows. And so I've been having fun on the internet and elsewhere turning things that I think should never be made into Broadway shows, into Broadway shows.

• 10:51Dax Shepard?

And they're on your Instagram. You have the most entertaining Instagram of all.

• 10:56Speaker 05

  Thank you.

• 10:57Dax Shepard?

What do people go to for that?

• 10:58Speaker 05

  It's just Gabe Gibbs, at G A B E G I B B S.

• 11:01Dax Shepard?

  Wonderful.

• 11:02Speaker 05

Thank you. It's also insane that I'm about to play these out loud in public. Here we go. This one is from a fictional Fergie musical.

• 11:15Speaker 05

I'll be playing the role of Fergie.

• 11:19Speaker 05

  Just once.

• 11:22Speaker 05

I want someone to ask me, ask me out on a date and ask me the questions I've been wanting to get asked, like, "What you gonna do

• 11:34Speaker 05

with all that junk? With all that junk inside your trunk?"

• 11:45Speaker 05

And others, like, "What you gonna do with all that ass? All that ass inside those jeans?" So I can tell him, "I will make you scream with my humps, my humps, my lady lumps,

• 12:14Speaker 05

  my arms."

• 12:19Dax Shepard?

  Oh my god.

• 12:22Dax Shepard?

It's so good because it's also really great.

• 12:24Speaker 05

  Thank you.

• 12:25Dax Shepard?

It's great that something's really funny and also really great.

• 12:27Speaker 05

  Thank you.

• 12:28Dax Shepard?

So what is your background? Have you been on Broadway?

• 12:31Speaker 05

I have. I was in The Book of Mormon, the one the South Park guys wrote.

• 12:34Dax Shepard?

  Oh my goodness.

• 12:35Speaker 05

Original? Yeah, no, not original. I ended up standing by for the now late, great Gavin Creel, who just got his season. So I was there in that company for a while, toured with it for a while, did it at the Pantages, which was cool. That's a cool theater.

• 12:49Dax Shepard?

And then now you moved to LA. How many years ago?

• 12:52Speaker 05

Yeah, I've been in LA for like, almost 10 years now.

• 12:55Dax Shepard?

  Oh, okay, okay.

• 12:56Speaker 05

Yeah, just bopping around the comedy scene.

• 12:58Dax Shepard?

  Sure, sure.

• 12:59Speaker 05

  With my, with my wares.

• 13:01Dax Shepard?

Yes. Okay, I have a favorite, and I've requested that you play it, and I think that's next.

• 13:06Speaker 05

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. This is from, again, I will be playing the titular role. I'll be playing the role of Missy Elliott in this Missy Elliott musical. Are you a Missy Elliott fan? I'm so excited. Hell yeah, dude.

• 13:29Speaker 05

  Is it worth it?

• 13:36Speaker 05

  Let me work it.

• 13:42Speaker 05

I'll put my thing down. Flip it and reverse it.

• 13:55Speaker 05

  If you gotta beg,

• 13:59Speaker 05

let me search ya and find out how hard I gotta work ya.

• 14:10Speaker 05

  Is it worth it?

• 14:23Dax Shepard?

  Oh my god.

• 14:25Speaker 02

  Incredible.

• 14:26Speaker 05

  Those are the bits.

• 14:27Speaker 02

  How fun.

• 14:28Speaker 05

  Those are the bits.

• 14:29Dax Shepard?

And there's a couple thousand of them on his Instagram.

• 14:31Speaker 02

  So cool.

• 14:33Dax Shepard?

Kristen spends a good hour and a half every night on her little space age mat.

• 14:38Speaker 02

Why you gotta out me like that?

• 14:41Speaker 05

  So sweet.

• 14:42Dax Shepard?

Okay, so we've got, um, we've got quite a few Christmas songs to get through and quite a few great singers, so I think we should hop into.

• 14:50Speaker 05

  Switcheroo. Switchback.

• 14:51Dax Shepard?

  Let's do a switcheroo.

• 14:52Speaker 05

  Oh, yeah.

• 14:52Dax Shepard?

You're so playful when you say if you've got a big one, the, the.

• 14:56Speaker 02

No, the expression on your face, I was like, oh, I hate it.

• 14:58Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 14:59Speaker 02

  I hate it.

• 15:00Speaker 05

  Yeah, yeah.

• 15:00Dax Shepard?

  Yes.

• 15:01Speaker 02

Cause it's that pleased with yourself kind of. I mean, I wouldn't, but you know.

• 15:06Speaker 05

  Musical theater actor.

• 15:06Speaker 02

  Yes. This is so good.

• 15:08Speaker 05

That no one behaves this way, except musical theater people.

• 15:11Dax Shepard?

I was praying you'd say it. I'm not allowed to say it.

• 15:13Speaker 05

  Oh, it's.

• 15:13Dax Shepard?

  It's too dangerous, but.

• 15:14Speaker 05

It's born out, that's what it's born out of, is born out of theater people don't live in reality. And so then we take these songs and we make them insane.

• 15:23Speaker 02

In fairness, I don't want them to live in reality.

• 15:25Speaker 05

Of course, they're singing, they're singing.

• 15:26Speaker 04

I'm in love with you because the reason he said he's not allowed to say it is because sometimes he's come at it too hard. Cause I'd be like, yes, I agree. A lot of it is cheesy. And yes, I agree. Nobody walks, like, when you see a musical theater actor walk across the stage, they're always in like an earthquake windstorm. That's never how people walk. And I love it, I love it. And I can agree with you, that's sometimes really silly. But then sometimes Dax will like dig in and I'll say like, uh-uh. No, that's my medium, so I like.

• 15:54Speaker 02

I think that's true of like ballet and opera, like they, everyone has their own kind of set of rules and gestures and like the, the world is different. So I think musical theater is similar. Where you're like, well, yeah, I mean, in ballet, they go to sleep like this.

• 16:11Speaker 02

And we go, yeah, okay, you're sleeping. I'm, I'm into it because I'm into the medium.

• 16:15Speaker 04

I guess if you came hard at ballet for sleeping like that, I'd feel a little bit more like you, you were, you know. A little bit more critical of everyone, but I think it's just because we discuss musical theater so often because I bring it up.

• 16:27Dax Shepard?

Exactly. We just have not yet talked. In 17 years, we've not gotten around to ballet yet.

• 16:32Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 16:33Dax Shepard?

Other than the fact that I was in ballet for some period of time.

• 16:36Speaker 04

  That's true.

• 16:37Dax Shepard?

Yeah. Yeah. Tiny, I had one recital and my dad, who was never around, did come to that. And he watched the thing. And then when we were leaving, he said to my mother, okay, that was his last recital. There's no more of that.

• 16:50Speaker 04

  How old are you? Michigan.

• 16:52Speaker 05

  I similarly.

• 16:53Dax Shepard?

  Probably seven. Yeah.

• 16:55Speaker 04

  Lame.

• 16:56Dax Shepard?

  Yeah, I know.

• 16:56Speaker 04

  That is a bummer.

• 16:57Dax Shepard?

Yeah, that's something you could do in 1982. You could unilaterally say, that's a wrap on that.

• 17:03Speaker 05

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 17:05Dax Shepard?

It's not around, but I still have this veto card.

• 17:08Speaker 04

He missed an opportunity because Easter egg, someone's coming here in a bit to help with the singing.

• 17:14Dax Shepard?

  Uh huh.

• 17:15Speaker 04

  Whose son is a dancer.

• 17:16Dax Shepard?

  The best dancer.

• 17:17Speaker 04

He's 11. He's the best dancer in the world. And Perfect Ten Charlie, his father, posted a whole thing, a video and a whole thing about it. And he called himself a dance dad. And there's nothing hotter.

• 17:29Dax Shepard?

  A dance dad.

• 17:30Speaker 04

Than a man calling themselves a dance dad. So your dad missed out. He could have been a dance dad and like, that would have been hot. Cleaned up. Yes. Yeah.

• 17:38Dax Shepard?

Okay. What is the first song, my love?

• 17:40Speaker 04

Why don't we start out with a classic?

• 17:42Dax Shepard?

  Yes.

• 17:43Speaker 04

Why don't we start out with something with the three of us? We're gonna hit you with one of the hot Christmas classics.

• 17:48Dax Shepard?

  Oh, wonderful.

• 17:49Speaker 04

What are we getting to begin this?

• 17:51Dax Shepard?

Would it be disrespectful if I'm enjoying a snack while you guys are singing?

• 17:54Speaker 05

  Encouraged.

• 17:54Speaker 04

  I prefer it.

• 17:55Dax Shepard?

  Okay, great.

• 17:55Speaker 05

  Dinner theater.

• 17:57Speaker 04

Great. And what's my start? Okay.

• 18:04Speaker 04

God rest ye merry gentlemen, let nothing you dismay. Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day, to save us all from Satan's power when we were gone astray. Oh, tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy. Oh, tidings of comfort and joy.

• 18:32Speaker 05

In Bethlehem in Israel, this blessed babe was born. And laid within a manger upon this blessed morn. To which his mother Mary did nothing take in scorn. Oh tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy. Oh tidings of comfort and joy. From God our heavenly Father, a blessed angel came. And unto certain shepherds brought tidings of the same. How that in Bethlehem was born the Son of God by name.

• 19:16Speaker 05

Oh tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy. Oh tidings of comfort and joy.

• 19:30Dax Shepard?

  Oh my God.

• 19:32Speaker 06

  That's a slog.

• 19:33Dax Shepard?

Hannah, do you want to do a musical at any point?

• 19:36Speaker 02

  Like on stage?

• 19:37Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 19:37Speaker 02

Um, honestly, I, uh, I've heard, you know, from folks that it's just so much harder than you think. And it's harder than you remember. And I barely remember because I was 12.

• 19:48Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 19:48Speaker 02

Um, so the last time I did a live show, like a stage show, I think I was 17. Um, so, yeah, I really like the part where I just have to like get my voice ready for recording or filming.

• 20:02Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 20:03Speaker 02

And then I don't have to think about it anymore.

• 20:05Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 20:05Speaker 02

Um, even when we did, we did a bunch of the last five years live as much as we could, which wasn't a ton, but, um, uh, that, I didn't like having to kind of like live like a soldier and not like drink and not have cheese and. Yeah. I'm just such a big fan of cheese.

• 20:18Dax Shepard?

  Sure, sure.

• 20:19Speaker 03

I didn't know. What show were you in when you were a kid?

• 20:22Speaker 02

  High Society.

• 20:22Speaker 03

  Sorry, I didn't know.

• 20:24Speaker 02

  No.

• 20:24Dax Shepard?

  You son of a bitch.

• 20:26Speaker 04

And who were you in the last five years with?

• 20:29Speaker 02

  Jeremy Jordan.

• 20:32Speaker 04

  What, what's happening?

• 20:33Dax Shepard?

  That's almost a huge burn, but I-

• 20:35Speaker 04

It wasn't a burn, you know that Lincoln's like-

• 20:38Dax Shepard?

  Oh, oh, oh, she's obsessed.

• 20:40Speaker 04

She can't even say his name without being like Jeremy Jordan.

• 20:43Speaker 02

  Oh, I see.

• 20:44Speaker 04

She loves him so much. She asked for Jeremy Jordan t-shirts for Christmas.

• 20:47Speaker 02

  Are there such t-shirts?

• 20:48Speaker 04

No, but I just got one on Amazon that said Jeremy.

• 20:54Speaker 01

Sure it's not like Brandon or some sort of-

• 20:57Speaker 04

Oh, I don't think, it just says, it says Jeremy, Jeremy, Jeremy on it and then-

• 21:01Speaker 02

  I don't think that's what she wanted.

• 21:05Speaker 04

  That's all they had.

• 21:06Speaker 01

So what's his, what's his riz? Like, why is she so obsessed?

• 21:09Speaker 05

Hotty, hottie Broadway, hottie, hottie Broadway.

• 21:12Speaker 01

  Hotty, hottie Broadway.

• 21:13Speaker 05

He's been like the dude for like a decade.

• 21:16Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 21:16Speaker 05

If you're a Broadway nerd. Respectfully.

• 21:19Dax Shepard?

  Who's your idol?

• 21:20Speaker 05

  Mine?

• 21:21Dax Shepard?

  Mm-hmm.

• 21:21Speaker 05

  In the Broadway sphere?

• 21:22Dax Shepard?

  The Broadway world, yeah.

• 21:23Speaker 05

Ooh. It was Gavin Creel, who just passed a couple of months ago. He's, he was like, he was the dude. He was like, people my age that were doing theater were looking up to him and he was the guy.

• 21:35Dax Shepard?

Did you go to the thing Kristen went to?

• 21:37Speaker 05

  Which one?

• 21:37Speaker 04

  The memorial?

• 21:38Speaker 05

  No, I didn't. I didn't. You went?

• 21:40Speaker 04

  It was really beautiful, yeah.

• 21:42Dax Shepard?

  And they dimmed the lights?

• 21:43Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 21:44Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 21:44Speaker 05

  That's a classy theater tradition.

• 21:46Dax Shepard?

Mom had the best week of her entire life. She almost didn't come home.

• 21:49Speaker 04

I did, yeah, I didn't. I did, I did end up coming home. In my mind, I'm still there.

• 21:55Speaker 04

I talked to them on FaceTime and both Dax and the girls were like, you look di- you look different. You look-

• 22:00Dax Shepard?

Twelve years younger. On those FaceTimes, I was like, oh my God, Mom's 26 right now. Look at her. Your face was, yeah, was so youthful. You were with all your Broadway friends. That, that does something so special to you.

• 22:12Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 22:13Dax Shepard?

  It's very, very sweet.

• 22:17Speaker 06

Stay tuned for more Armchair Expert. If you dare.

• 22:23Dax Shepard?

We get support from No Bull. The holidays can get hectic. You finally hit a post summer routine and suddenly you're on hosting duty every week.

• 22:33Speaker 01

That's when you really need to ground yourself.

• 22:35Dax Shepard?

Exactly. And that's why I keep my training routine through the holidays. It's the whole No Bull idea. There's a no bullshit training brand built around consistency, honesty, and just putting in the work. It's not about adding more pressure to an already packed schedule. It's about having the gear and the habits to move through the season your way. My personal favorite, all three of the shoes are fantastic. The Outwork, the Outwork Flex, and the Drive 2. I like the Drive 2 because it's a hybrid and I lift, of course, but I also like to do what's called box jumps. Right? I do a lot of jumping onto a little platform and I want a little more flexibility and boy, do they deliver.

• 23:12Speaker 01

And if you're a cardio person and you're running and you also need to be lifting.

• 23:17Dax Shepard?

And the style is banging. I don't know what to say. Beautiful style, very breathable, very, very comfortable, lots of support. They were built for lifting.

• 23:24Speaker 01

They also make a great holiday gift. You know, I love gifting, a purposeful one that actually supports someone's goals and routines. And it's not a gift that just ends up in the back of the closet.

• 23:34Dax Shepard?

Stay stronger than the season. Head to nobullproject.com all holiday season to shop new deals every week. This episode is supported by Helix.

• 23:45Speaker 01

Okay. Can we talk about how November is basically survival mode between the holidays, the travel, the hosting, the cooking, the everything? Sleep is the one thing keeping me from completely unraveling.

• 23:55Dax Shepard?

It really is the foundation and I think people underestimate how much a bad mattress is quietly ruining their day. You wake up stiff, your back's angry, you're already behind before your feet hit the floor.

• 24:06Speaker 01

That was me before Helix. I took their sleep quiz, which is so fast. It took me like two minutes and they matched me to a mattress that actually fits how I sleep. Not a guess, not a firm or soft coin flip. It's a real match. I have a midnight mattress and I really like it. I was noticing it because I actually had to sleep in one of my other beds recently. That doesn't have a Helix mattress on it and I really could tell a big difference in my sleep.

• 24:29Dax Shepard?

Temperature was all over the map.

• 24:30Speaker 01

It was a mess. I need a new one.

• 24:32Dax Shepard?

Look, they've got over 20 mattress models. So whether you sleep hot, need extra back support, or you've got a partner who moves around all night, there's one built for you. Plus free shipping and a 365 night happy with Helix guarantee. That's a full year to decide.

• 24:47Speaker 01

Helix has been named the most awarded mattress by Forbes, Wired, and more. So it's not just us being enthusiastic, the experts agree.

• 24:54Dax Shepard?

Right now, Helix is running their Black Friday sale with up to 30% off. Go to helixsleep.com/armchair for up to 30% off your Helix mattress. That's helixsleep.com/armchair for up to 30% off your Helix mattress. Helixsleep.com/armchair. We get support from Skims. Okay, I have a confession. I genuinely love matching pajamas. It's the best part of Christmas morning, really. Everyone in the same matching set, looking ridiculously cute in front of the tree.

• 25:26Speaker 01

I love matching pajamas. I'm literally going to be in coordinating sets with all my friends this holiday season. Because I got them, spoiler to my friends who are listening, the same Skims pajama set I've been living in. They are so soft and cozy and they look cute. So you can leave the house and go get a late night hot chocolate and be cozy.

• 25:47Dax Shepard?

It's so great how Skims has sets for everyone, too. Women's, men's, kids, even your pets. So nobody in your life has to be left out this year.

• 25:57Speaker 01

I have a bunch of different pajama sets. One of my favorite is the organic cotton sleep long sleeve set.

• 26:03Dax Shepard?

  Okay, tell me more.

• 26:05Speaker 01

It is so comfortable, very chic, too. The top is a button down, but very, very soft, easy to sleep in. But as I said before, you can multi-purpose this and look super cute.

• 26:16Dax Shepard?

Hot chocolate runs. It's like the pajamas we grew up in, except without the scratchy polyester that made opening presents feel more like a hot yoga class that nobody signed up for.

• 26:26Speaker 01

All the nostalgia, none of the discomfort. Shop my favorite loungewear and pajamas at skims.com. After you place your order, be sure to let them know we sent you. • 28:14Dax Shepard?

Should we, I think we should hear, are you guys ready to play your song? I'm also have one quick question. Ergonomically, is it easy to sing seated? Is that not a challenge?

• 28:27Speaker 02

  It's a little harder.

• 28:28Dax Shepard?

  It is, right?

• 28:29Speaker 02

Maybe not for this one. But I will say, I, this is not, this is the opposite of a flex. You know, this is the opposite of flex. I am worried about distorting on the mic. Cause I, not that I am like, cause I'm so, my voice is so big, but it's cause like, I have to get very loud to.

• 28:48Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 28:48Speaker 02

Read the notes. So I just want to make sure that that, you know, I don't know.

• 28:52Dax Shepard?

  Rob?

• 28:52Speaker 02

  Rob is prepared. Okay.

• 28:55Dax Shepard?

  He's riding it.

• 28:56Speaker 04

He rides it hard, too. He rides it like a Brazilian strip.

• 29:01Speaker 02

  Oh yeah, you're smart.

• 29:01Dax Shepard?

Oh, this is great. You got on your knees. That's a compromise.

• 29:05Speaker 02

  It's more the, right?

• 29:07Speaker 04

Do you want us to hear it and undo this?

• 29:08Speaker 02

No, no, no, no, I don't want to stand.

• 29:09Speaker 04

No, then it just gets awkward, right? When you stand up, and then if it doesn't, tell me if you have this. If you stand and you go like, oh, I'm gonna need to stand, and you don't hit it, it's the worst.

• 29:19Dax Shepard?

  And now you just stood.

• 29:20Speaker 02

If you don't absolutely soar, it's like, you're doing a lot for...

• 29:24Speaker 04

  Right.

• 29:24Speaker 02

A lot of stuff for a real...

• 29:26Speaker 04

  Standing, why didn't it work?

• 29:27Dax Shepard?

And you've got a built-in excuse, like, oh yeah, I was sitting. Can you imagine what that would have sounded like if I was standing?

• 29:34Speaker 04

  Mm-hmm.

• 29:34Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 29:34Speaker 02

Yeah, it would have been perfect.

• 29:35Dax Shepard?

Yeah, that would be my preferred approach.

• 29:44Speaker 02

Sure, it's nice to open a gift that's tied up with a perfect bow. But the greatest present of all was given to me long ago. It's something I would never trade. It's the family that we made. Cause when we're together, I have everything on my list. And when we're together, I have all I wished. All around the Christmas tree, there'll be dreams coming true.

• 30:26Speaker 02

But when we're together, then my favorite gift is you.

• 30:41Speaker 02

I would travel miles and miles and I would follow any star. I'd go almost any place if it's any place you are. Cause when we're together, I'll forever feel at home. And when we're together, we're safe and warm. Doesn't matter where we are, if you're here.

• 31:13Speaker 02

Here with me. Cause when we're together, that's my favorite place to be. Cause when we're together, it's a holiday every night. And when we're together, then the season's bright. I don't need the bells to ring. I'll know when it's here. Cause when we're together,

• 31:57Speaker 02

I could stay forever. And when we're together. It's my favorite time of year.

• 32:17Dax Shepard?

  Oh, fuck.

• 32:18Speaker 05

  Beautiful. I'm crying.

• 32:21Speaker 01

Do you have anything that, did you bring anything special?

• 32:24Speaker 05

Yeah, I actually brought a little gift, if that's okay. Well, I brought two gifts. One is in the fridge right now in the house, which my sister, who is a huge armcherry, huge, huge, huge, couldn't let me show up without having us make some homemade Emily Burger sauce.

• 32:44Speaker 01

  No, amazing.

• 32:47Speaker 05

Which is sugar-free as well. We've made it sugar-free.

• 32:52Dax Shepard?

Unnecessary, but that's great. That's added bone, yeah. Really slathered on, guilt-free.

• 32:58Speaker 05

So there's some of that in the fridge in your home.

• 33:02Dax Shepard?

  She made Emily Burger sauce.

• 33:03Speaker 01

You know Emily Burger right there?

• 33:05Speaker 05

I've seen this photo because my sister sent it to me and said, "You guys better fucking make that Emily Burger sauce."

• 33:10Dax Shepard?

  What's your sister's name?

• 33:11Speaker 05

  Ally.

• 33:12Dax Shepard?

She must be a genius. She really loves this show.

• 33:15Speaker 05

  She loves this show.

• 33:16Dax Shepard?

She sounds so smart and compassionate and evolved.

• 33:19Speaker 05

She's the best of us, really.

• 33:21Dax Shepard?

Okay, so you know, I want to make it very clear. You're the, you're my all-time queen of the bell, the ball. You're the number one singer in my heart of all time. So that, you know that. But I do need to talk about Eon's voice for a second.

• 33:35Dax Shepard?

  I when

• 33:35Speaker 01

  You have notes?

• 33:36Dax Shepard?

No, you're like a racehorse, you know, racehorses, they can like, can it walk? I don't know, is it gonna, and then all of a sudden it fucking takes off and it's just like or like a car, a motor, you guys will know with a huge cam, it sounds like it's not even gonna roll, and then you hit the gas and it's fucking out of there. There is something so, um, just

• 33:56Speaker 01

  Powerful.

• 33:57Dax Shepard?

And it just like, it just shoots into the air. It's really, I love it. I don't think I heard you sing enough.

• 34:04Speaker 01

It's timbre, is that what it is? Yeah. Timbre is so clear.

• 34:08Speaker 05

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that's the, that's the unteachable part, too.

• 34:13Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 34:13Dax Shepard?

  No, you can't teach timbre.

• 34:15Speaker 05

  No, can't teach timbre.

• 34:16Dax Shepard?

  No, that's what they say.

• 34:17Speaker 05

  Can't teach timbre.

• 34:18Dax Shepard?

Can't teach timbre. Can't teach timbre new tricks.

• 34:21Speaker 01

Did you feel like after Pitch Perfect, everyone was saying that to you, like, oh, my god?

• 34:27Speaker 02

Um, no, I mean, I think Pitch Perfect, uh, the singing in Pitch Perfect, actually, like, I, I, there was some reason that there was like a performance that my mom sent me, I don't know, where they were dancing to the first movie and I was like, oh, I haven't listened to this in forever. And I was like, I don't sound that good.

• 34:47Speaker 01

  Oh, my god.

• 34:48Speaker 02

Cause I think I was just sort of trying to, cause they make us, they make us learn so many weird harmonies, like, and you're, you're playing the percussion and you're, you know, like, you're playing the guitar or whatever, like, so you're just trying to like actually learn the notes and there's not a ton of time for you to decide like your musicality for each song. So I was like, oh, man, I don't sound as good.

• 35:08Speaker 01

Oh, my god, well, you sound amazing. I'm having a real time realization.

• 35:11Dax Shepard?

  Okay.

• 35:12Speaker 01

I cannot believe I have not put this together before. The thing, the song that I've listened to probably the most in my life is you and Justin Timberlake singing True Colors.

• 35:23Speaker 02

  Oh, shut up.

• 35:24Speaker 01

And I just now I'm realizing that that's you, because now I know you to some extent, that I, I've like removed that, has put it in its own compartment. I used to watch that video on repeat.

• 35:36Dax Shepard?

You, wait, wait, wait. I think you knew that, cause we talked about the fact that I was walking by UCB, you were sitting behind the counter and I walked in and you were currently Listening to that song at work.

• 35:46Speaker 01

We've talked about it, but I didn't, I didn't realize it was our friend Anna Kendrick.

• 35:50Dax Shepard?

  Okay, okay.

• 35:51Speaker 01

I mean, I did realize, but this Monica did not realize it in her heart until right this second.

• 35:56Speaker 02

Wait, when you say the video, are you talking about the can performance?

• 35:59Speaker 01

There was a performance you guys did. I just watched it on YouTube over and over and over and over.

• 36:03Dax Shepard?

  That worked.

• 36:03Speaker 02

  We were both really sick.

• 36:05Speaker 01

  Oh, my God.

• 36:07Speaker 02

Were you sitting or standing? I was standing, thank God.

• 36:10Dax Shepard?

He had diarrhea is what I remember from the story. Yeah, Justin didn't really get her. Explosive diarrhea.

• 36:15Speaker 02

No, but he's so, he's so sweet and I, we were both really, really sick, but he is like, you know, one of the great all time like pop recording artists, you know, whatever. So, um, we had like, did a very, very simple, um, version of True Colors and like right before, and we just kept drilling it and drilling it and drilling it. And then like right before we were about to go on, he was just singing his part to himself and added in like 20 riffs or whatever. And I went, are you gonna do it like that? And he was like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine. Cause I was like, no, no, no, you have, you still have access to like so much of your voice that I like do not have right now.

• 36:50Speaker 01

No, it's the most beautiful sound.

• 36:52Speaker 02

Like, no, no, no, it's gonna be exactly how we did it. It's gonna be fine.

• 36:56Dax Shepard?

Have you guys ever heard my version? I have to cover my face because it'll make everyone uncomfortable. This is like a rule, Monica. Okay. And I see your true colors and that's why I love you. I'm so lonely, so don't be afraid.

• 37:14Speaker 01

  That's so sad.

• 37:15Dax Shepard?

To let it go. True colors are beautiful. I go away so lonely.

• 37:26Speaker 02

  That was so cute.

• 37:28Speaker 01

  It's sad.

• 37:28Speaker 03

I saw the whole thing because I had backstage.

• 37:30Speaker 01

  Exactly. He's very lonely.

• 37:35Dax Shepard?

  BTS.

• 37:37Speaker 03

I think you got there because of Tambor Lake.

• 37:40Speaker 05

  Tambor Lake.

• 37:41Speaker 03

We were talking about her tambor. I think that's how you got there.

• 37:43Speaker 01

  Oh, my God.

• 37:45Dax Shepard?

  You searched tambor, I think.

• 37:47Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 37:47Dax Shepard?

  Best tambor.

• 37:49Speaker 04

  I love that.

• 37:50Dax Shepard?

  Oh, that was fantastic.

• 37:51Speaker 04

Right before this, Gabe was mentioning the Emily Burger Sauce, and you said you had one more thing.

• 37:56Speaker 05

Oh, I do have another gift, if that's okay.

• 38:00Dax Shepard?

  No, there's a one-gift limit here.

• 38:02Speaker 05

This day has been field, field. I'll take that from the top.

• 38:07Dax Shepard?

Everyone reset. Meg, the one. Keep it rolling, Rob. Don't cut.

• 38:10Speaker 05

Am I stand, sit? Doesn't matter. It'll come out the same.

• 38:14Speaker 04

Standing is the opposite of sitting.

• 38:16Dax Shepard?

  Sitting.

• 38:18Speaker 05

Yeah, I do have another gift, actually, for you guys, if you don't mind.

• 38:23Speaker 05

It goes like this. "The day has been filled with holiday cheer, but I know that it can't last. So before we run along, I wrote a little song about the king of this podcast."

• 38:36Dax Shepard?

  Oh, wow.

• 38:37Speaker 05

Oh, Wabi Wab's the reason I signed up for this pod. Sure, the hosts are fine, but I'd wait in line for that audio god. Monica is chic as hell. Her fact checks make it clearer, but without the work of Wabi Wab, you couldn't even hear her. Dax is wise, the kind of guy you'd hang out with gladly, but he's nothing in comparison to that decibel daddy. Just Monica and Dax, I'd say, "No, thanks, I'll pass." Just Kristen and Anna, I would have made other plana. Because Wabi Wab's the reason I'm here. The rest is bupkis.

• 39:22Speaker 05

Wabi Wab's the reason I'm here. Feel free to cut this. Wabi Wab's the reason I'm here.

• 39:33Dax Shepard?

It's about goddamn time, Rob, with the love of the reserves.

• 39:36Speaker 04

  That is the gift.

• 39:37Dax Shepard?

I ride him like a rented mule, so he deserved that. You want to poke your-

• 39:41Speaker 04

  To show your face?

• 39:42Dax Shepard?

  He'd rather not.

• 39:45Dax Shepard?

  Absolutely not.

• 39:46Speaker 04

Oh, that was awesome. I love that.

• 39:48Dax Shepard?

  That was incredible.

• 39:50Speaker 02

And I was totally going between you and Rob's face, and you'd never know something weird was happening. I mean, I'm sure if you know him well, there's like micro expressions you could read, but I was like, is he, does he, is he listening?

• 40:03Speaker 04

Does he know what's going on?

• 40:04Speaker 02

  This is crazy.

• 40:05Dax Shepard?

  Can he hear?

• 40:07Speaker 03

  That's a plot twist.

• 40:12Dax Shepard?

Gabe, do you have a favorite Christmas present you remember from your childhood in Michigan on Big Beaver Road, exit 69 in Rochester?

• 40:19Speaker 05

The first thing in Michigan on Big Beaver Road, exit 69 Rochester that comes to my mind is getting a, getting my first like brick cellphone at the time that I was texting. I had a crush at the time. And so it was the kind of texting you did where you had to do the ABC.

• 40:38Speaker 03

  T9 text input.

• 40:39Dax Shepard?

  C9, she knows.

• 40:40Speaker 05

A, A, B, that kind of thing. So it was a lot of that cellphone.

• 40:44Dax Shepard?

  What grade?

• 40:45Speaker 05

I think it was sixth grade that I got my first phone.

• 40:48Dax Shepard?

And you had a big old crush in sixth grade, early developer.

• 40:51Speaker 05

  Crush in sixth grade.

• 40:51Dax Shepard?

The timbre was coming in nicely.

• 40:54Speaker 05

What's up, shouty? How are you?

• 40:58Speaker 05

  G2G.

• 40:59Dax Shepard?

And I imagine then too, you had some limited data on your hands.

• 41:03Speaker 05

Oh, yeah. Oh, for sure. There was no, yeah, it was not, it was very limited.

• 41:07Dax Shepard?

Yeah, you gotta be real efficient with that. T9.

• 41:10Speaker 05

A lot of texts to the same number showing up on the bill at the end of it.

• 41:13Dax Shepard?

Jacob, do you have a favorite gift you got?

• 41:14Speaker 03

Yeah. I can recall a nice Dino GT bicycle waiting out front one Christmas morning.

• 41:22Dax Shepard?

  You son of a bitch.

• 41:22Speaker 03

Yeah. Blue, red, white and blue. Red, white and blue.

• 41:25Dax Shepard?

Red, white and blue. What did it make you so long way?

• 41:29Speaker 03

Yeah, dude, I was cruising all over the neighborhood on that thing, man. It was great.

• 41:33Dax Shepard?

  You had a fucking Dino.

• 41:34Speaker 03

  You remember Dino GTs?

• 41:35Dax Shepard?

  Yeah, you're a dick.

• 41:36Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 41:38Dax Shepard?

I had a fucking mongoose, bitch.

• 41:39Speaker 03

I was gonna say, kids either had dynos or mongooses.

• 41:41Dax Shepard?

No, kids had mongooses and they wanted dynos.

• 41:44Speaker 03

  Cool. Yeah.

• 41:45Dax Shepard?

What did your old man do for a?

• 41:46Speaker 03

  Nah, he sold insurance.

• 41:47Dax Shepard?

Oh, I bet he did quite well. Yeah.

• 41:49Speaker 03

He had one client. I don't know. I don't think he did well, to be honest with you. He was always on the phone with Muriel Jacobs. I don't know who the hell that was.

• 41:57Dax Shepard?

  Shout out Muriel Jacobs.

• 41:58Speaker 01

  It's like Neil Gates's pseudonym.

• 42:01Dax Shepard?

  Do you have one?

• 42:02Speaker 02

Um, uh, maybe an Easy-Bake Oven?

• 42:06Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 42:08Speaker 02

Yeah, that's a real dream, because I also, you know, love a little baking moment, but I also love slightly underbaked baked goods, and the Easy-Bake Oven really delivers on that.

• 42:17Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 42:18Speaker 04

  It barely gets there.

• 42:19Dax Shepard?

  It's a light bulb, right?

• 42:20Speaker 02

Yeah, so you get like warm cookie dough, which is really what I wanted in the first place.

• 42:25Speaker 01

Yeah, that's right. Um, do you like giving gifts?

• 42:28Speaker 02

Um, I'm bad at, um, like birthdays and Christmas, because when I like know of something that I really want to get someone, I'm too excited, and I'm like, I just give it when I I can't like, yeah, I can't do the delayed gratification.

• 42:39Dax Shepard?

I'm bad at birthdays and Christmas, as if there's a bunch of other gift opportunities. You're just straight across the board bad at gifts.

• 42:44Speaker 02

No, pretty bad, but, but every like every now and then, there's a fucking winner, and like I cannot go like, well, Christmas is in two months, and I'll just save it. I can't do it. It's happening now.

• 42:56Speaker 01

When you think of somebody, you get it, and then you give it.

• 42:58Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 42:58Speaker 01

Yeah, that's lovely. I feel like you're like that.

• 43:00Dax Shepard?

And I don't want anyone to think I'm being rude, not asking you, but we both know.

• 43:04Speaker 02

  I won't remember.

• 43:05Dax Shepard?

You have no clue. Yeah. We have been on vacations to places that she's, she's like, I'd like to go to Colorado once. We've been a couple of times, you know, that kind of thing.

• 43:14Speaker 02

  Not me, man.

• 43:15Speaker 01

I'd like to throw one in the mix.

• 43:17Dax Shepard?

  Please.

• 43:18Speaker 01

That we got you. Um, a chandelier.

• 43:21Speaker 02

  Oh.

• 43:22Speaker 01

  From Paris.

• 43:24Speaker 02

  Now that I remember.

• 43:25Speaker 01

  We tracked on down.

• 43:26Speaker 04

We shot the, um, the season finale, the, the, uh, series finale of The Good Place in, uh, Greece and in Paris. And when I was in Paris, I went to the, um, flea market there, and I was looking around and I loved it so much, and I saw this white terracotta chandelier that's kind of like, it's huge, and it's like, there's all these little like white terracotta birds all over it, but it's very, it's kind of minimalist, it's very chic, just trust me. And I, I said, how much is that? And he said, and I was like, okay, thanks so much. It was way too expensive. And then I left, but I came home talking about it, and I was like, oh, Monica, I gotta talk to you about decor. I saw this chandelier, and I loved it so much. And then... Ten months go by, I mean like a very, very long time, maybe even a year over.

• 44:10Speaker 04

And Monica had the realization that she could track down someone I was, who lived in Paris that I had known, who could go back and see if it was still there.

• 44:18Dax Shepard?

The masseuse you guys are both in love with?

• 44:18Speaker 04

  Laurent, no.

• 44:21Dax Shepard?

  That's not a bit.

• 44:22Speaker 04

There is a great masseuse in Paris. I mean, half of it is just like hair play, but it is out of.

• 44:31Dax Shepard?

Oh, and there's a dinner involved and you go to his apartment?

• 44:33Speaker 04

No, we went to dinner. That's not normally on the docket.

• 44:38Speaker 04

It's not one of the services he offers.

• 44:42Speaker 04

But then Monica tracked down this chandelier from our beautiful friend Tabor and they gave it to me for my 40th birthday. And now it hangs above my bathtub.

• 44:50Speaker 01

  It's so beautiful.

• 44:51Speaker 04

  So beautiful.

• 44:53Speaker 01

  I'm gonna.

• 44:53Speaker 04

  It's really special.

• 44:54Speaker 03

What's your favorite gift you've ever received on Christmas?

• 44:56Dax Shepard?

Um, by far, and I just shout out to Laura LeBeau because we were broke as hell, but she went hard on Christmas. We had great fucking Christmas. She would go in debt and she always gave us a good one. And I was, I must've been five because we lived in this shithole. And I came out and there was a, a plastic Indy car, like the size of this table. It was probably like, would be a Power Wheels now. I don't know if that was the brand back then. But it was a little car I could drive and I drove it until the battery is dead, then I charged it, then I drove it. And then I drove it and the embarrassing part is I drove it way too long. Then we moved into a neighborhood and I was still, I was driving it at like 11 sometimes.

• 45:36Dax Shepard?

I'd get nostalgic and I would drive it down my neighborhood street and I would be super embarrassed, but I still would do it. Yeah, I just, the steering wheel broke and I steered it with pliers for a while. Yeah.

• 45:47Speaker 04

This wasn't the Firefox, was it?

• 45:49Dax Shepard?

No, that was my worst present because my grandpa, Papa Bob, he bought, my brother and I, these Firefox remote control cars. We wanted them so bad. And then my uncle and my brother played with them before Christmas for so long that they were broken. And then put them in the boxes and we unwrapped them and they were broken. And then they were sold out of Firefox.

• 46:11Speaker 04

  Oh, no.

• 46:12Dax Shepard?

And then this is my chandelier, my, um, what's the sled's name?

• 46:17Speaker 01

  Oh, rosebud.

• 46:18Dax Shepard?

Rosebud. Um, this was my rosebud and Kristen found a Firefox on eBay or somewhere and got it for me for Christmas. And she healed that wound. And it, um, it, it broke within 10 minutes of driving. So I can't even blame my uncles.

• 46:31Speaker 01

These are pieces of shit, these fires. They're like Easy-Bake Ovens essentially.

• 46:35Dax Shepard?

Yeah, yeah. They were the Easy-Bake Oven of the RC car world, for sure.

• 46:39Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 46:40Dax Shepard?

Um, okay. What other songs do we have?

• 46:42Speaker 04

This one's a song that everyone's gonna know, but Gabe and I like this particular version, um, which is Mel Tormé and Judy Garland, which we're gonna do it with them in mind because it's very clear during this recording that they are sauced.

• 46:59Dax Shepard?

  Okay, they're a little tipsy.

• 47:01Speaker 04

Yeah, there's some word mangling. There's, there's just, it's just...

• 47:05Dax Shepard?

  Good for them.

• 47:06Speaker 04

Mostly on the Judy part. Mostly on the Judy part.

• 47:09Dax Shepard?

  Judy was pretty gassed.

• 47:10Speaker 01

  She had a hard life.

• 47:11Speaker 04

  She really did.

• 47:12Dax Shepard?

  Did she?

• 47:13Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 47:13Dax Shepard?

  What was her...

• 47:14Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 47:14Dax Shepard?

  What was her...

• 47:15Speaker 04

Well, she, we, Britney speared her. She was the first Britney Spears.

• 47:18Dax Shepard?

  Okay.

• 47:19Speaker 04

Um, so, yeah, so we have this little one prepared, um, in the...

• 47:24Dax Shepard?

  Rob, cue all the crickets.

• 47:26Speaker 01

  Oh, my God.

• 47:27Speaker 04

  Are there crickets in here?

• 47:28Dax Shepard?

So fucking many. I told you this. Someone was having a very emotional moment on the couch and the second they were having this emotional moment, the cricket started...

• 47:38Speaker 04

  How'd you do that?

• 47:39Speaker 01

If you hit them, they, they'll come. You know, you know what we need to get?

• 47:42Speaker 02

  Nice.

• 47:43Speaker 01

  A snake.

• 47:44Dax Shepard?

Good idea. Well, let's have a snake in here.

• 47:46Speaker 01

  Just wandering around the podcast.

• 47:50Speaker 04

Well, what if we brought, I got even a better idea.

• 47:53Dax Shepard?

Do you not know what Monica's number one fear in life is?

• 47:55Speaker 04

  Yeah, snakes.

• 47:56Dax Shepard?

  Upper butt.

• 47:57Speaker 04

  Me too. Upper butt?

• 47:58Dax Shepard?

A snake coming out of your...

• 47:59Speaker 01

  Toilet bowl?

• 47:59Speaker 04

Yeah, they come out and they go all the way up into your...

• 48:03Speaker 01

  They?

• 48:03Speaker 04

That they come out your mouth?

• 48:04Speaker 01

  No.

• 48:05Speaker 04

No, no. Do you know, have you fact-checked this?

• 48:10Speaker 01

  Yeah, it's a real rumor. It's a real rumor.

• 48:13Speaker 04

What if Erica brought Norbert over, their lizard? Although he, last time I heard, he wasn't eating for a while and she was very nervous. Yeah.

• 48:20Dax Shepard?

He was upset about the election. He's on strike.

• 48:23Speaker 04

  He's on strike.

• 48:24Dax Shepard?

Okay, so this is Garland smashed and...

• 48:26Speaker 04

This is Mel, and Mel Tormé.

• 48:28Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 48:28Speaker 04

  Trying to keep it together.

• 48:29Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 48:37Speaker 05

All through the years we've waited.

• 48:40Speaker 04

  It's a great melton.

• 48:41Speaker 05

Waited through spring and fall, though this one's gonna know it, yeah. To hear silver bells ringing and wintertime singing. The happiest season of all. And I wish that Judy Garland would start singing right now.

• 49:01Speaker 04

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Jack Frost nipping at your nose.

• 49:16Speaker 05

Yuletide carols being sung by a choir. And folks dressed up from head to toe.

• 49:28Speaker 04

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe. Help to make the season bright. Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow. Will find it hard to sleep tonight. They know that Santa's on his way. Loaded lots of gifts and toys upon his legs.

• 50:11Speaker 04

And every mother's child is gonna spy. To see if rainbows really know how to fly. And so I'm offering this simple phrase. To kids from one to ninety-two. Although it's been said many times, many ways.

• 50:48Speaker 05

Should we have a go at them, some old English? Sure.

• 51:01Speaker 05

Love and joy come to you and to all your loved ones too. And God bless you and send you a happy new year. And God send you a happy new year.

• 51:25Dax Shepard?

  Oh, mama. Wow.

• 51:29Speaker 05

We can take that on the road. Yeah, we can do that. You do a great, Mel Tormann. Thank you, thank you.

• 51:33Dax Shepard?

You guys just need three, four more songs and you got a show.

• 51:39Dax Shepard?

Stay tuned for more Armchair Expert, if you dare. We are supported by Squarespace. So here's something I think about a lot. Most people I talk to on this show, the ones doing really interesting things, they all had a version of their work that existed before anyone else saw it. It was just theirs, notes, ideas, projects they were tinkering with. And then at some point, they made the decision to share it. That's the part that's scary, right? Going from, I'm working on something, to here's what I made. Rob went through the exact same thing, building our site on Squarespace. And what made it doable was that he didn't have to become a web developer overnight. He just had to show up with the idea. Squarespace handles the rest. Beautiful templates that actually look like you hired someone, built an SEO so people can find you,

email campaigns, scheduling, analytics, all under one roof. No code, no patchwork of random tools. And honestly, the thing I keep coming back to is how low the barrier is. If you've got something you've been building quietly and you're ready for people to see it, Squarespace makes that leap feel a lot less traumatic. Head to Squarespace.com/dax for a free trial. And when you're ready to launch, use offer code DAX to save 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain.

• 55:58Speaker 03

Rainbows really know how to fly.

• 56:01Speaker 04

Not to it at all. It just, that's what she wanted to sing. It came out of her mouth. No one's gonna argue with it. It's Judy Garland.

• 56:07Dax Shepard?

  Wait, that didn't really happen.

• 56:08Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah. We just did the track.

• 56:10Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 56:10Dax Shepard?

She said rainbows really know how to fly.

• 56:12Speaker 02

Wait, did she do the Gibson toys?

• 56:14Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 56:17Speaker 02

He said that's close. Then I looked and it was like, she, like, Kristen had crossed out the right lyric to do. And I was like, oh, that wasn't an accident.

• 56:26Speaker 04

  That was close.

• 56:27Speaker 03

  She was sauced.

• 56:30Dax Shepard?

That gets you out of the copyright issue. Just throw rainbows in.

• 56:34Speaker 04

For those who don't know, it's titled "The Christmas Song," but that is really, that's an incredible version. That's my favorite version, and I really wanted to try it with you.

• 56:40Dax Shepard?

And they kept it too. They were like, she said, they're like, Mike, she said rainbows, right? Yeah, just keep, okay.

• 56:46Speaker 02

Well, I think that. Well, rainbows over the rainbow. Of course. Yeah.

• 56:50Dax Shepard?

Oh, that was like a nod.

• 56:51Speaker 02

Maybe the rainbows is her being like, get it?

• 56:53Speaker 04

Yeah. And I think that was live, because I think Mel was playing.

• 56:57Speaker 03

Yeah, there's a video online that you can see of him playing.

• 56:59Speaker 04

  Really?

• 57:00Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 57:00Speaker 04

Yeah, because most of the, a lot of those songs from way back when, they were just taken from live performances. They weren't like doing them in the studio. They were like, you can hear the live tracks on.

• 57:10Dax Shepard?

  Oh.

• 57:11Speaker 04

  Oh, man, that was funny.

• 57:14Dax Shepard?

Do we want to do our culinary surprise? I just want to say that we were talking yesterday in a fact check and I was lamenting about how bad I am at giving gifts. And then Monica said, well, think of secret turkey so fun because you have to make it. And then I thought, okay, that's what I'm gonna do.

• 57:31Speaker 02

  Oh, great.

• 57:31Dax Shepard?

So we'll all go outside. There's a buffet set up.

• 57:34Speaker 02

  What?

• 57:35Dax Shepard?

And we'll make a plate and then we can eat in open presents.

• 57:38Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 57:39Dax Shepard?

  Sound good? Wow. A buffet?

• 57:46Speaker 04

On my word of the day today, it was bah humbug.

• 57:50Dax Shepard?

  No.

• 57:51Speaker 04

And I learned the full meaning in the 17th century, 18th century, somewhere on the cusp. Bah essentially meant not, right? It was a sign of disagreement.

• 58:07Speaker 04

And humbug meant a hoax or a buffling trick. So if you didn't like the merry season, you'd say not. This is a hoax.

• 58:19Speaker 02

  Oh, interesting.

• 58:24Speaker 04

I'll open first. I always thought it was two words. Bah.

• 58:29Speaker 02

  It is.

• 58:30Speaker 04

Oh, it is. Oh, okay, okay. It's a phrase.

• 58:32Dax Shepard?

Now, full disclosure, I have help for Kristen's Christmas. I don't want to act like, um, she has a stylist, Nicole, who has the best taste of any person in the world. Everything Nicole gets, Kristen wants. So three years ago, I was like, hey, Nicole, since you know what she's gonna want, could you help me? So I have a lot of help, but I still, I feel unethical about that, so I still get some stuff on my own. So if this is a miss, it's because Nicole had nothing to do with this.

• 58:56Speaker 02

And look at this, is wicked themed for your...

• 58:59Dax Shepard?

Now, that's where Carly comes in, I think, because I just did the rap job and I did not, um, affix the ribbon.

• 59:04Speaker 02

  I did.

• 59:05Dax Shepard?

Oh. I knew it would be you or her.

• 59:09Speaker 02

Oh, the games you two play, I see.

• 59:11Dax Shepard?

Also, shout out to Carly for...

• 59:13Speaker 02

Let's see if I can get Dax to lie about wrapping this. And then go, gotcha!

• 59:17Dax Shepard?

It was a total trap. I walked right into it. And then shout out Carly for putting out the, um, the buffet outside.

• 59:23Speaker 02

Oh, incredible. Did you do the garlic bread, too?

• 59:26Dax Shepard?

She made the garlic bread. I made the spaghetti sauce.

• 59:30Speaker 02

  Both are absolutely delicious.

• 59:31Speaker 01

Our listeners have heard a lot about the spaghetti, so I want them to, it's good that they get to see it.

• 59:36Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 59:37Speaker 01

  In action, it's incredible.

• 59:39Speaker 02

Crank is in the title on this book.

• 59:41Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 59:43Dax Shepard?

  Yeah, that's, there you go.

• 59:46Speaker 03

  That's right.

• 59:47Dax Shepard?

  That's exactly where it goes.

• 59:50Speaker 01

Panda Prank with a shoe footprint like from a murder mystery.

• 59:53Speaker 03

  Ooh.

• 59:56Dax Shepard?

  You're a hiker?

• 59:57Speaker 01

  I am a hiker. Ooh.

• 1:00:00Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 1:00:01Speaker 01

  Nice. Ooh, really nice.

• 1:00:02Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 1:00:02Speaker 01

These are sleek hiking shoes, buddy. Thank you.

• 1:00:05Dax Shepard?

Yeah, it's some collab between Panda Prank and Nike.

• 1:00:08Speaker 01

  I love.

• 1:00:10Speaker 03

Those are gorgeous. That's a sexy shoe.

• 1:00:11Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:00:12Dax Shepard?

  Oh, thank you.

• 1:00:13Speaker 01

  This is a hit.

• 1:00:14Dax Shepard?

  Oh, thank you.

• 1:00:15Speaker 01

  One for one.

• 1:00:16Dax Shepard?

  One for one.

• 1:00:17Speaker 01

  Yay.

• 1:00:17Dax Shepard?

I should quit. I should just return the rest of your presents, actually.

• 1:00:19Speaker 01

I love them. I don't, why is the box so big?

• 1:00:22Dax Shepard?

If you loved them so much, you'd be putting them on. That's what I would do, a pair of shoes I love.

• 1:00:29Speaker 01

  Um, what's, what's Panda Prank?

• 1:00:32Dax Shepard?

They're like, um, they do, you know, one-off designs of existing brands, is my understanding of it.

• 1:00:38Speaker 01

  Oh, cool.

• 1:00:39Dax Shepard?

Yeah, cuz now I'm in their algorithm cuz I bought one pair of shoes, so I see every single pair of shoes they designed, and they're all pretty cool.

• 1:00:44Speaker 01

  Nice.

• 1:00:45Dax Shepard?

  Okay.

• 1:00:45Speaker 03

Jacob's not eating, so I'm gonna give him his present. Is that a present?

• 1:00:48Dax Shepard?

  You got a present.

• 1:00:49Speaker 03

  What the heck?

• 1:00:50Dax Shepard?

Also, I learned at the buffet bar that you're in Wolfpack, which drives, I can't believe I didn't know that. That's so embarrassing to me.

• 1:00:56Speaker 03

I'm the newest member. It's totally okay. Oh.

• 1:01:05Speaker 03

This looks delicious. Is this wine? Yes, it is. Thank God. I love wine. I wasn't sure what it was. And then reach on down in the. Reach on down? Reach on down, reach on down the road. Let's go. Ooh. What is this? Do you know I love this wine bar? And I used to live next to it. Wait. I was just guessing. Wait, no, did you know this or no? I just guessed. No, someone told you? Who told you?

• 1:01:29Dax Shepard?

  Kristen does her research.

• 1:01:30Speaker 03

Beeswax. Whoa. Santa told me. Santa told me.

• 1:01:34Dax Shepard?

We have three world-class present givers in this room right now.

• 1:01:37Speaker 03

I have to throw, yeah, this is an amazing gift. Thank you so much. I have to, um, shout out Justine's Wine Bar in Frog Town.

• 1:01:45Speaker 01

  I love Justine.

• 1:01:46Speaker 03

  Oh, she's the best.

• 1:01:47Dax Shepard?

  Mm.

• 1:01:48Speaker 03

And I, I, I used to live right next to it, and it was too convenient, and I had to move. She drove you out of the neighborhood? No, no, no. It, it, this is awesome. Thank you so much.

• 1:01:58Dax Shepard?

I couldn't live within five miles of Emily Burger.

• 1:02:00Speaker 01

  Yeah, that's.

• 1:02:01Dax Shepard?

I would be dead within six, seven years, I think. Okay, we're gonna.

• 1:02:05Speaker 05

  We're gonna thank you.

• 1:02:07Dax Shepard?

  It's a huge beaver.

• 1:02:08Speaker 05

  Here we go.

• 1:02:09Dax Shepard?

The biggest beaver you've ever seen.

• 1:02:11Speaker 05

I love beavers. Oh my god.

• 1:02:15Dax Shepard?

Tell everyone what happened to yours.

• 1:02:17Speaker 05

Okay. Ooh. Somebody talk to my wife because what happened to mine was I don't know how it happened. I was on the phone with my AirPods on, turned my head in some way. I'm dramatic. I don't know what happened.

• 1:02:32Dax Shepard?

  Theatrical.

• 1:02:33Speaker 05

Yeah, I'm a theater kid. You know, you're given what you're given. And my, one of them flew out and went under the fridge in a way that I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to fish it out. But the fridge in our apartment is so stuck into the space that it's in that I can't get it out. So I have the case and the other AirPod and I can see where the AirPod is and I cannot get to it. I've used magnets.

• 1:02:59Speaker 02

  That's excruciating.

• 1:03:00Speaker 05

It's brutal. It's absolutely brutal. So this is huge.

• 1:03:05Dax Shepard?

Anna, you're not gonna like this, but.

• 1:03:07Speaker 02

Oh no. I didn't know. I didn't think, I didn't bring anything. You don't need to bring anything.

• 1:03:12Dax Shepard?

Yeah, I'm not doing your Christmas show. You're doing our Christmas show.

• 1:03:17Dax Shepard?

I, we were interviewing you. And.

• 1:03:22Speaker 02

Oh god, what did I say? Oh god.

• 1:03:24Dax Shepard?

You were talking about going to your audition in your combat boots.

• 1:03:29Speaker 02

  I know what this is.

• 1:03:31Dax Shepard?

  And I said.

• 1:03:31Speaker 02

  I know what this is.

• 1:03:32Dax Shepard?

Yep. And it broke my heart that you wouldn't have had the best

• 1:03:37Dax Shepard?

  boots a lady can have.

• 1:03:39Speaker 02

Wait, how did you find out my shoes?

• 1:03:41Dax Shepard?

I asked you your shoe size.

• 1:03:43Speaker 02

That's right. And I thought it was for, I thought, I can't believe I didn't like think, well, they asked for my shoe size. Where are my shoes? I figured we'd be wearing like silly elf slippers or something.

• 1:03:54Dax Shepard?

That would have made the most sense.

• 1:03:55Speaker 02

  Oh my goodness.

• 1:03:59Dax Shepard?

Now, watch how nervous Kristen is because she was a part of me looking online for these.

• 1:04:03Speaker 02

  I tried to be.

• 1:04:04Dax Shepard?

Yeah. And there were ones I liked where she was like, absolutely not. And then I just waited till she left and then I decided.

• 1:04:12Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:04:13Dax Shepard?

  Yep.

• 1:04:13Speaker 02

I hope they're the absolutely not ones.

• 1:04:17Dax Shepard?

They were not. They're a compromise, but I still love them.

• 1:04:20Speaker 02

  They have fur.

• 1:04:20Dax Shepard?

They're fur. The boots with the fur, with the fur.

• 1:04:25Speaker 02

Ooh, those are for you, shorty. Platform is.

• 1:04:27Speaker 03

  Those are sweet.

• 1:04:28Speaker 02

Who's talking? I love a platform too. I'm here for it. I love it. Thank you so much.

• 1:04:33Dax Shepard?

It's got a side zipper so you don't have to fight with the laces.

• 1:04:36Speaker 03

  Huge.

• 1:04:36Dax Shepard?

  Yeah, thank you.

• 1:04:37Speaker 02

Because in, yeah, in my last episode, we were talking about my audition for my Broadway show when I was 12. And I was wearing combat boots and ducks, asked if they were Doc Martens. And I said, no, I think they were like the Payless knockoff. Because we couldn't afford them. So this is amazing.

• 1:04:55Dax Shepard?

I said, my girl can't ever wear the, oh, loved it. It's a great brand, Payless. It's just, docs for me were the thing.

• 1:05:02Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:05:03Dax Shepard?

Okay, great. See, she loves hers. She's about to put hers on, hon.

• 1:05:06Speaker 02

The wrapping paper is green and pink on the inside.

• 1:05:08Speaker 01

  Yeah, it's a wicked thing.

• 1:05:10Speaker 02

Damn, you really did all that. You really did all that. Oh, God. Oh, God. I'm gonna knock over everything.

• 1:05:16Dax Shepard?

Monty, can I present you with a present?

• 1:05:17Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 1:05:18Dax Shepard?

I also have to say one thing. I bought you something. It says it came. I searched the entire house today. It's not here. I reordered it. So.

• 1:05:30Speaker 01

  Thank you.

• 1:05:30Dax Shepard?

  Wait, but in the meantime.

• 1:05:32Speaker 01

  I don't need things.

• 1:05:33Dax Shepard?

You're a woman of means. You can buy your own shit.

• 1:05:39Speaker 01

Yay. Oh, sweet. The original mouse.

• 1:05:47Speaker 01

  Dax drew this.

• 1:05:48Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 1:05:49Speaker 01

And I used it on my gift guide. And now it's on our sweatshirt for this year.

• 1:05:54Dax Shepard?

I thought she should have the original.

• 1:05:55Speaker 01

This was the original drawing. I love it. Thank you so much.

• 1:06:00Speaker 02

  What does it say?

• 1:06:01Speaker 01

The world's all time most special mouse, in quotes.

• 1:06:04Speaker 02

Sometimes I think you guys forget this is a podcast. Because we didn't say those were AirPods. We didn't say these were docs.

• 1:06:11Speaker 03

Hey, that's why I said, is this one?

• 1:06:14Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:06:17Dax Shepard?

Jacob, we're looking for someone to turn the entire show over to. So this could be fucking perfect.

• 1:06:23Speaker 02

  You're a pro.

• 1:06:23Speaker 05

You're a good suck on you.

• 1:06:25Speaker 02

These are, these are the best.

• 1:06:27Dax Shepard?

  Oh, man, thank you.

• 1:06:29Speaker 02

I, I, I don't know what, I think that maybe I owned like one pair of Doc Martens in my early twenties. And I don't know, I found them very stiff. Maybe I was a knockoff or maybe I got the wrong pair or something. But immediately these feel cool.

• 1:06:41Dax Shepard?

They used to be way stiffer.

• 1:06:43Speaker 02

  Is that right?

• 1:06:43Dax Shepard?

  Yes.

• 1:06:43Speaker 02

Cause I'm like, wait, I was expecting these to be like kind of a pain.

• 1:06:47Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 1:06:47Speaker 02

  But they feel amazing, instantaneously.

• 1:06:49Speaker 04

And there's a hack. You put them in the freezer overnight. Shut up. And take them out when they're cold. And put them directly on. Cause when leather's cold, as it, as it will sort of, I guess melt essentially, it will form to your foot.

• 1:07:02Speaker 02

Ah, shut up. Oh my God, these feel amazing.

• 1:07:05Speaker 01

Also, if we're not doing a good job talking about the items, I guess you should just watch it on YouTube.

• 1:07:10Dax Shepard?

Yeah. That's the move. Wobbly wobb?

• 1:07:14Speaker 01

  Yeah, I want, I, I, yeah.

• 1:07:16Speaker 02

  Sorry, wobbly in here.

• 1:07:16Dax Shepard?

Let's get you seated for this birthday boy. You got your own song, but that's not where it ends.

• 1:07:22Speaker 01

Also, the present I got you two, I need you to open the same.

• 1:07:25Dax Shepard?

Okay. I'm excited to see how mama handled this. I just want to say for this one. Kristen spent at least seven and a half hours on the phone this week and was unsuccessful.

• 1:07:38Speaker 02

  Wow.

• 1:07:38Dax Shepard?

  Is that a good setup?

• 1:07:39Speaker 02

  Merry Christmas.

• 1:07:53Dax Shepard?

  Tarrania. Have you ever been?

• 1:07:58Speaker 02

  It's really nice.

• 1:08:00Dax Shepard?

It's so fun. It's so close. Your kids will love it. There's a little slide. It's the fucking buffet is the best in the biz.

• 1:08:07Speaker 02

It's good for parents and adults.

• 1:08:09Dax Shepard?

Mm-hmm. Oh, Jesus Christ. Again, it's yours. Thank you. Thank you. This is great.

• 1:08:23Dax Shepard?

  Any more, do we?

• 1:08:25Speaker 01

Yeah, I want you two. I got presents for you two.

• 1:08:29Dax Shepard?

That's for me? Yep, that and the big one. That and the big one. And what's that for money? Okay.

• 1:08:35Speaker 01

  Thank you so much.

• 1:08:40Speaker 01

  You go, baby.

• 1:08:41Dax Shepard?

Don't worry about the armchair expert wrapping paper.

• 1:08:45Speaker 01

  Good old wrapping.

• 1:08:47Dax Shepard?

Okay, you want to go first? Ladies first?

• 1:08:52Speaker 01

  It's from Wabi Wab, Hollis.

• 1:08:55Dax Shepard?

Who's, again, I gotta say, when I said there's three exemplary gift givers in this room, Wabi Wab is...

• 1:09:01Speaker 01

  He is...

• 1:09:02Dax Shepard?

  He is...

• 1:09:03Speaker 01

  He's amazing.

• 1:09:03Speaker 04

I'd also like to comment on the paper because what I'm not hearing is a bunch of like crazy crunch wrap because this paper, there is a real... There is a hierarchy with wrapping paper and this one has a fabric type quality to it.

• 1:09:17Speaker 01

It almost feels like... Like a dress.

• 1:09:20Dax Shepard?

Maybe you should wear it as a dress.

• 1:09:22Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:09:22Speaker 04

But it's delicious wrapping paper, Wabi Wab. Real high-end. That must have cost you a fortune.

• 1:09:27Speaker 01

And is that because of the sound?

• 1:09:28Speaker 04

  Oh, I mean, Amazon.

• 1:09:31Speaker 01

  Far out.

• 1:09:33Speaker 01

No, I mean, that would make sense to me.

• 1:09:34Dax Shepard?

Yeah, that's what on a set it would be.

• 1:09:36Speaker 01

  Oh, wow.

• 1:09:36Dax Shepard?

When you get that stupid fucking shopping bag with like grocery store and rubber.

• 1:09:41Speaker 04

Okay, for the listener, there's a wrap present inside the wrapping present.

• 1:09:46Speaker 01

It was a wrap within a wrap.

• 1:09:47Speaker 03

  It's a skeleton inside of a Santa.

• 1:09:50Speaker 01

Kind of like the hat on the hat. Is there gonna be another?

• 1:09:53Speaker 05

  Oh, oh, boy.

• 1:09:56Speaker 01

  Ah, he did it!

• 1:09:57Dax Shepard?

  Oh, we got you!

• 1:09:59Speaker 04

  They're box in a box.

• 1:10:01Speaker 01

And this paper is a smellograph.

• 1:10:04Speaker 04

  Shut up.

• 1:10:04Speaker 06

  Ooh.

• 1:10:06Speaker 01

  Yeah, pass it.

• 1:10:07Speaker 04

  Ooh, duck queen.

• 1:10:08Speaker 06

  A smellograph.

• 1:10:10Speaker 01

You guys, that's what it's called.

• 1:10:12Dax Shepard?

Now, again, if you're listening, you can't smell it, and even if you're watching, you can't smell it. On YouTube, you can smell it.

• 1:10:20Speaker 03

There's just a button you click, it's an upgrade.

• 1:10:21Speaker 01

  I know, that is...

• 1:10:23Dax Shepard?

  That's a gift in itself.

• 1:10:25Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 1:10:26Speaker 03

Did you spray something or is that how it goes? Wow.

• 1:10:29Speaker 01

  God, it's really nice.

• 1:10:31Dax Shepard?

I'm telling you, he's got like a little workshop at his house.

• 1:10:33Speaker 04

  The high-end wrapping store.

• 1:10:35Speaker 01

Okay, we're down to the actual gift. Is there a store or are you being... What?

• 1:10:42Speaker 05

Your gift also didn't come yet, it's supposed to come today.

• 1:10:46Speaker 01

Oh my god. Oh my god, it's my dream come true.

• 1:10:49Speaker 04

  Is that a real picture?

• 1:10:51Speaker 01

  Yeah, I spent time...

• 1:10:53Dax Shepard?

  Dreams.

• 1:10:55Speaker 01

In my dreams. And it's a picture. It's a picture of me, okay, for the listener and not the viewer.

• 1:11:01Dax Shepard?

  There's a sweater coming.

• 1:11:02Speaker 01

Oh, thank you. Oh my gosh, how sweet. But this is the real gift. It's a picture of me with Mary-Kate and Ashley and I look like I'm friends with them.

• 1:11:11Dax Shepard?

You're in the sweater that's coming.

• 1:11:13Speaker 01

  It's so cute.

• 1:11:15Speaker 05

  Iconic. Unbelievable.

• 1:11:17Speaker 01

I love it. And I'll buy these pants, for sure. Oh, okay, this one, this one can live like that. And that's a manifest, because they're gonna come on at some point. Thank you, Rob, that's so sweet. Okay, now I need you guys to open. But you, can you open yours of this too?

• 1:11:39Speaker 05

  Race. Quick, quick, quick.

• 1:11:41Speaker 04

The listener, it seems to be a race and Dax is in the lead.

• 1:11:46Speaker 01

  And it's over.

• 1:11:47Dax Shepard?

  Flamingo State, Los Angeles, California.

• 1:11:49Speaker 04

  Ooh, these are really nice.

• 1:11:51Dax Shepard?

You know about these? What is this?

• 1:11:54Speaker 05

  Olive oil.

• 1:11:55Speaker 01

Olive oil, but they were personalized.

• 1:11:57Dax Shepard?

  It pairs nicely with elk.

• 1:12:00Speaker 05

  That says wabi-sabi for wabi-wabi.

• 1:12:05Speaker 04

And for people who don't know, Dax has been on a real kick of eating elk lately and so in the mornings he has elk and eggs, which makes the house smell terrible, but it's actually pretty tasty. And then he gets like 160 grams of protein during breakfast.

• 1:12:18Speaker 01

  It's a lot of protein.

• 1:12:19Dax Shepard?

And now I'll get a little, I'll get a little Omega too, yeah, yeah. And let's both say something at the same time. Three, two, one.

• 1:12:28Dax Shepard?

For the listener, I almost kissed Rob's lips.

• 1:12:34Dax Shepard?

  Here we go.

• 1:12:38Dax Shepard?

Yeah, just not, I've, ever since I learned about that landing strip, I'm just having the most confusing feelings about you.

• 1:12:43Speaker 03

  Oh!

• 1:12:44Speaker 04

Dax is opening the present from Rodman.

• 1:12:45Speaker 05

You complained at one point that you didn't have enough knickknacks behind you, and Monica had more.

• 1:12:49Dax Shepard?

Oh, Rodman and Isaiah Thomas, 88, 89 Pistons! They were too young, but that was the team.

• 1:12:55Speaker 01

Oh my god, that's so cool!

• 1:12:56Dax Shepard?

  Oh, that's great!

• 1:12:57Speaker 01

  Was that in eBay?

• 1:12:58Speaker 05

  Nope, it was Target.

• 1:12:59Speaker 01

  Oh, cool!

• 1:13:00Speaker 03

Target had that? Had those two guys together from 1989?

• 1:13:06Dax Shepard?

  They won back-to-back titles.

• 1:13:07Speaker 03

No, yeah, but Target had that.

• 1:13:09Dax Shepard?

  That's a great point.

• 1:13:11Speaker 03

  That's wild.

• 1:13:11Dax Shepard?

Yeah, a very, yeah, very deep cut for Target, right? Yeah.

• 1:13:16Speaker 01

  Amazing.

• 1:13:17Dax Shepard?

Oh, this is great. Oh, this is... Oh, I got a biggie!

• 1:13:23Dax Shepard?

Whoa! Oh, great, and this has Yeti wrapping paper, not to be confused with the cooling brand. An actual Yeti.

• 1:13:33Speaker 01

Does it smell? Is it a smellograph?

• 1:13:35Speaker 04

Dax is having trouble opening the package.

• 1:13:38Dax Shepard?

I'm gonna, here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna play a game where you guys will see it first.

• 1:13:41Speaker 01

And try to describe it to you?

• 1:13:43Dax Shepard?

Guessing on your reaction. I'm gonna see if I can figure out what it is.

• 1:13:46Speaker 05

Oh, guessing on our reaction, okay.

• 1:13:47Speaker 01

Okay, well, it is, it is, it is a...

• 1:13:50Dax Shepard?

  Car accident?

• 1:13:51Speaker 01

A piece of art. It's a piece of art.

• 1:13:54Dax Shepard?

Okay, so Gabe, it seems like it might be a bad car accident? Is that what it is? Someone eating a corpse?

• 1:14:01Speaker 01

  Wow, Rob, that's beautiful.

• 1:14:04Speaker 05

So it's this Australian artist, Bella McGoldrick?

• 1:14:06Dax Shepard?

Oh, wow! It's a pencil drawing?

• 1:14:10Speaker 01

  It's beautiful.

• 1:14:11Speaker 04

  That's so cool.

• 1:14:12Dax Shepard?

  Oh, man.

• 1:14:13Speaker 01

Well, I was gonna ask, yeah.

• 1:14:14Speaker 04

15 of 20, I read at the bottom.

• 1:14:16Speaker 01

Oh, I love a limited edition.

• 1:14:18Dax Shepard?

Your eyes aren't that good? How'd you get that?

• 1:14:21Speaker 01

  Check my work.

• 1:14:22Dax Shepard?

No, you got it, but we both know you and I are blind.

• 1:14:25Speaker 01

That's true. But I don't know, somehow I caught it.

• 1:14:27Speaker 04

  Wow.

• 1:14:28Dax Shepard?

Oh my god, that's gorgeous, Wobbly Wobb. Thank you.

• 1:14:31Speaker 05

  Pencil? Wow!

• 1:14:32Dax Shepard?

Thoughtful son of a bitch. 3, 2, 1. 3, 2, 1, we say something. You're not going back in, okay?

• 1:14:39Speaker 04

  You know the artist, right?

• 1:14:40Speaker 01

And then you two have one.

• 1:14:41Speaker 05

  Bella McGoldrick?

• 1:14:42Speaker 01

  Beautiful.

• 1:14:43Dax Shepard?

  We have one more?

• 1:14:44Speaker 01

You two have another one for me.

• 1:14:45Dax Shepard?

  Oh my gosh, okay.

• 1:14:48Speaker 01

  They're the white boxes.

• 1:14:49Dax Shepard?

  Oh, okay.

• 1:14:51Speaker 01

  Wait, I know this paper.

• 1:14:52Dax Shepard?

  3...

• 1:14:53Speaker 01

  Well...

• 1:14:54Speaker 04

  Monica, they don't deserve this.

• 1:14:59Dax Shepard?

  What?

• 1:14:59Speaker 05

  They make boys?

• 1:15:00Dax Shepard?

I was about to find out.

• 1:15:11Speaker 01

They do make noise, but let's make sure. I mean, also, obviously, we can return if things don't fit. But it was imperative that everyone in this room had something from the row, based on how much we talk about it.

• 1:15:23Dax Shepard?

  Wow, beautiful.

• 1:15:25Speaker 01

You're welcome, but if it doesn't fit, obviously.

• 1:15:26Dax Shepard?

  Oh, wow, let me see.

• 1:15:30Dax Shepard?

Oh, yours, okay, yours is a little thinner. Yours is more of a springtime, mine's more of a hill, it's hit the slopes.

• 1:15:36Dax Shepard?

Oh, thank you, Monty, that's beautiful.

• 1:15:38Speaker 01

And I got a rose sweater, too, it all worked out.

• 1:15:42Dax Shepard?

All came out in the wash, okay. So, we've had our pasta, we've had some desserts. It's time to land the plane hard with some more music. So, musical director, what's our next offering?

• 1:15:57Speaker 01

  Monica requested "Ode to Langsine."

• 1:16:00Dax Shepard?

I did, I love "Ode to Langsine." Two, three.

• 1:16:05Speaker 05

Should old acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind? Should old acquaintance be forgot, And days of old langzine? For old langzine, my dear, for old langzine,

• 1:16:44Speaker 05

We'll take a cup of kindness yet, for old langzine. And here's a hand, my trusty friend, And gives a hand all thine. We'll take a cup of kindness yet, for old langzine, for old langzine.

• 1:17:24Speaker 05

For all Langsine, my dear. For all Langsine. We'll take a cup of kindness yet. For all Langsine.

• 1:17:52Dax Shepard?

I don't even like that song, and I loved it. I love it.

• 1:17:56Speaker 01

Thank you. That was very special.

• 1:17:58Dax Shepard?

  Oh, that was good.

• 1:18:00Speaker 04

It was really fun to sing that for the first time two days ago. And, um, because it was like, oh, we don't really know it yet, but that was already so fun.

• 1:18:11Speaker 01

I like to picture my whole year when I hear it.

• 1:18:13Dax Shepard?

  Oh.

• 1:18:14Speaker 03

Wow. The one you just had or the one you're about to have?

• 1:18:15Speaker 01

The one I just had, it's bi. It's bi to the year.

• 1:18:18Dax Shepard?

You were doing like the apple photo thing.

• 1:18:22Speaker 02

And what's the verdict on this year?

• 1:18:24Speaker 01

Oh, it was a complicated year, but, um, but a good, a building year.

• 1:18:29Speaker 02

  Oh.

• 1:18:30Speaker 01

  Building year.

• 1:18:32Dax Shepard?

  Wow.

• 1:18:32Speaker 02

  It's like, deep.

• 1:18:34Dax Shepard?

  Ask me, hit me.

• 1:18:36Speaker 02

Yeah. What's the verdict on this year for you, Dax?

• 1:18:38Dax Shepard?

  Oh.

• 1:18:41Dax Shepard?

It was, um, it was good. It was good.

• 1:18:45Speaker 04

  It was a building year.

• 1:18:47Dax Shepard?

Stronger for it. Well, does it kill you? Makes you stronger. No, I had a great fucking year. I really did. We had a lot of fun trips. Uh, kids just get more and more and more interesting and funny and more fun to be around. Yeah. We had a great year work wise.

• 1:19:04Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:19:05Dax Shepard?

Yeah. This is a good year.

• 1:19:06Speaker 04

  And a kind of.

• 1:19:07Dax Shepard?

The big one. Oh, we should get.

• 1:19:08Speaker 04

Erica, we have a closer. Yeah.

• 1:19:10Dax Shepard?

We're gonna bring in a closer, closing picture.

• 1:19:13Speaker 03

  Hmm.

• 1:19:13Dax Shepard?

And this, a lot of people know Perfect Ten Charlie. And they know he's married to Erica and they've met Perfect Ten Charlie on here. And now you're gonna get to meet Erica on here.

• 1:19:23Speaker 04

And if you listened to Sync, Erica had made an appearance on Sync and people were like, she needs to be on every episode.

• 1:19:29Dax Shepard?

She's a boss bitch. She's a tough, cool, radical. The kind of gal that Kristen falls in love with.

• 1:19:37Speaker 04

Yeah, Erica's a very powerful presence. She's very decisive, assertive. She's also can, she can wail. She's got such a beautiful voice. Hi, Erica.

• 1:19:47Dax Shepard?

You're no stranger to some side zippies.

• 1:19:49Speaker 04

  Welcome.

• 1:19:53Speaker 05

Christmas time is here, happiness and cheer.

• 1:19:57Speaker 06

  Oh, this is, oh, cozy.

• 1:19:59Speaker 04

  It's tight.

• 1:20:01Speaker 06

  Cozy.

• 1:20:02Speaker 01

  Cute sweater.

• 1:20:03Speaker 06

  Thank you.

• 1:20:04Dax Shepard?

Hi, Erica. Welcome to the program. We gave you an intro, but you weren't in the room.

• 1:20:08Speaker 06

  No, I'm here now.

• 1:20:09Dax Shepard?

We're saying your praises. Pull that mic a little closer to yourself. Although you got a big old fucking power pole.

• 1:20:19Dax Shepard?

  You'll, um...

• 1:20:19Speaker 06

  That's right, I'll turtle it.

• 1:20:21Speaker 04

Well, Rob said he's gonna ride it. Do you want this for when you ride it?

• 1:20:24Dax Shepard?

  He's gonna ride.

• 1:20:25Speaker 06

  He's gonna what?

• 1:20:28Dax Shepard?

Anyways, in our intro, we said, you're, uh, people know Perfect Ten Charlie.

• 1:20:33Speaker 06

  Yes.

• 1:20:33Dax Shepard?

  And now, the beautiful bride.

• 1:20:35Speaker 04

  That's right.

• 1:20:36Dax Shepard?

  Yes.

• 1:20:37Speaker 04

  I'm here.

• 1:20:37Dax Shepard?

Takes a big woman to live up to those looks, and boy, does she do it.

• 1:20:40Speaker 06

I'm a pitch hitter today. With Yelto, get it?

• 1:20:45Dax Shepard?

  Musical theater jokes!

• 1:20:46Speaker 04

  Love.

• 1:20:46Speaker 03

Well, earlier you said pitch hitter?

• 1:20:49Speaker 04

  I did.

• 1:20:49Speaker 03

And so she said she's a pitch hitter.

• 1:20:52Speaker 06

  Oh!

• 1:20:52Speaker 03

  Yeah, like a...

• 1:20:53Speaker 04

  Hit, I got it.

• 1:20:55Speaker 06

Yeah, mhm. It's a really cool, theater kids are typically cool.

• 1:20:59Dax Shepard?

  They're generally rocking the school.

• 1:21:01Speaker 04

  That's the theme of today.

• 1:21:02Speaker 06

  That's right.

• 1:21:02Dax Shepard?

They're bullies, though. That's the only thing I don't like about them. They're always shoving guys in lockers.

• 1:21:07Speaker 03

  And then singing about it.

• 1:21:10Dax Shepard?

Okay, I also just want to say, for my money, this is my favorite Christmas song in the world. This is number one.

• 1:21:17Speaker 05

You say that right before we start it?

• 1:21:19Speaker 06

  No pressure.

• 1:21:19Dax Shepard?

Oh, that's too much pressure. Okay, just broke up, I broke one of the rules.

• 1:21:24Speaker 03

  That's all right.

• 1:21:24Dax Shepard?

  Theater rules.

• 1:21:25Speaker 04

But I love that you love it, and that is why it was important to get it, because Charlie Brown Christmas is very important to us.

• 1:21:32Dax Shepard?

  It's the one, it's...

• 1:21:33Speaker 04

  It's the one to watch.

• 1:21:34Dax Shepard?

Yeah, it's who brought you to the party.

• 1:21:35Speaker 04

  That's right.

• 1:21:36Dax Shepard?

  It's our first Christmas cartoon.

• 1:21:37Speaker 04

  That's right.

• 1:21:38Dax Shepard?

I'm gonna tell one second story. This is, my mother encouraged me to do this. Back in the old days, I was trying to explain this to our children, and they could not conceptualize what I was saying. I was like, "Girls, there was only three channels, that's it. And if you didn't see it, you missed it, and there was no way to record it." And these bastards in Detroit, you had two, four, and seven, they would counterprogram, so you'd have The Grinch on channel two at eight, and you would have Charlie Brown on channel four at eight. And you had to fucking pick, and you were seven, and it was not cool. And my mother said, "You should write a letter to the stations." And I did. I wrote a letter to the stations, and they did not respond.

• 1:22:13Speaker 04

  Well.

• 1:22:14Dax Shepard?

But I do think streaming might be a result of that letter.

• 1:22:17Speaker 04

Right, and now you can watch it. It's on, what is it, on Apple Plus?

• 1:22:20Dax Shepard?

Oh, right now, Charlie Brown's on Apple Plus, and I think everyone can watch it for free right now. I think that particular cartoon can be watched on Apple Plus.

• 1:22:26Speaker 04

And it's the one to watch.

• 1:22:27Speaker 01

Yeah, we watched it last night.

• 1:23:55Speaker 04

  Yeah!

• 1:23:56Dax Shepard?

There we go. Now we're talking.

• 1:24:00Speaker 04

  Apple Plus!

• 1:24:01Dax Shepard?

  Now Christmas is here.

• 1:24:04Speaker 04

  Amazing.

• 1:24:06Dax Shepard?

  Oh my god.

• 1:24:07Speaker 03

Guys, that is so hard, what they just did.

• 1:24:10Dax Shepard?

  It is.

• 1:24:10Speaker 03

  That is so cool.

• 1:24:11Dax Shepard?

This was, um, Kristen, is she in... You guys just did this in your choir class, so she's just coming off of hearing it with like 25 of you singing. So I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, because I know that's not how you wanted to do it.

• 1:24:25Speaker 04

And Dax is like, "Just sing it alone." I was like, "I cannot sing it alone."

• 1:24:30Speaker 06

The integrity of the arrangement. I must have Erica pop in into the alto part.

• 1:24:35Speaker 04

That doesn't align with your values.

• 1:24:39Dax Shepard?

  Good time for defiance.

• 1:24:41Speaker 04

Tell us about your choir class. You want to tell the world about your choir class?

• 1:24:45Speaker 06

So fun. Well, we were talking a long time ago about how if you're an adult and you have hobbies, like you like to dance, or maybe you played baseball in high school, you could go do that again. You could join a league. You could, you know, you could.

• 1:24:58Speaker 04

As a long professional, you can do it.

• 1:24:59Speaker 06

Yeah, just for fun. And so we were like, you can't do that anywhere singing wise. And so we're like, well, do we have to make it? Right?

• 1:25:06Speaker 04

And Erica, who knows everything about publicity and marketing, she was like, let's beta test this. And after I looked that up, I was like, yes, let's do that. And we like basically emailed, DM'd a bunch of like local singers that we know, some that aren't local, some people that we know that have different jobs, but just like really, really whale. And one of the coolest things is when we first started, and now it's like probably 35 of us.

• 1:25:32Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 1:25:33Speaker 04

And about 25 or 28 come every week. And it's like, that's sort of rotating.

• 1:25:38Dax Shepard?

You got a bogey too, right? You guys all have a guy no one knows, which I love.

• 1:25:41Speaker 06

  Oh.

• 1:25:42Dax Shepard?

  Now you probably do.

• 1:25:43Speaker 06

  He's the best.

• 1:25:43Speaker 04

He's the absolute best. We don't know how he got there, but he's incredible. And now he helps us set up and it's wonderful.

• 1:25:49Speaker 06

  He bakes bread.

• 1:25:50Speaker 04

  Uh huh. And the.

• 1:25:52Speaker 01

You're not supposed to eat stuff from strangers.

• 1:25:54Speaker 06

Well, we're eating in this choir, we're eating a lot of stuff from strangers.

• 1:25:57Speaker 04

Everybody bakes something. We bring wine. We sit around. We harmonize together.

• 1:26:00Speaker 06

If you don't love a pot light, look, it's not for you.

• 1:26:03Speaker 04

One of the first times when we were at a theater, there was a security guard at the theater, and halfway through the class, he starts just riffing.

• 1:26:12Dax Shepard?

  Oh.

• 1:26:12Speaker 04

And it was the most beautiful sounds we had ever. And we were like, whoa, whoa, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. What, sir?

• 1:26:18Dax Shepard?

  That's a Good Will Hunting.

• 1:26:22Speaker 04

And he was singing with us. We've had a lot of drop-ins of like very cool people. And it's just been, uh, it's been very soul fulfilling.

• 1:26:29Speaker 06

  Lovely.

• 1:26:30Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:26:30Speaker 01

It's such a cool thing you guys do.

• 1:26:32Speaker 04

  It's so casual.

• 1:26:33Dax Shepard?

  Yeah.

• 1:26:33Speaker 04

  We just socialize.

• 1:26:34Dax Shepard?

It's great. I can't go to my AA meeting anymore, but that's okay. I'm sure we prioritize the right thing in the house.

• 1:26:40Speaker 06

We're done with Mondays. We're done with Mondays. It's going back to its original day.

• 1:26:47Dax Shepard?

I'm so glad you guys have that. Kristen's always so happy when she comes home from that. It's so nurturing to her, her beautiful little soul. Mama, thank you. You put this whole thing together.

• 1:26:55Speaker 01

  Yes, thank you.

• 1:26:56Dax Shepard?

You rehearsed, you swindled everyone into coming and doing this. And thank you so much for doing that. Erica, thank you for popping by. Gabe, thank you so much. Jacob, come on now. Even more excited. Anna.

• 1:27:09Speaker 02

  I'm off mic, but.

• 1:27:10Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:27:11Speaker 02

  Uh oh.

• 1:27:19Speaker 01

Oh my God. You're using your mic for bad.

• 1:27:24Dax Shepard?

Of course I am. All right, I love you guys. Merry Christmas. Happy holidays.

• 1:27:28Speaker 01

  Yes. Love everyone here.

• 1:27:31Dax Shepard?

May everyone get a Dino this year.
