Hilary Duff

It’s a pop emergency this week as we have Hilary Duff joining us on the podcast! Fresh from her smash sell out London show, Hilary joined us for lunch to talk about her brand new album ‘Luck… Or Something’. We chatted about being a mum of 4, growing up in Texas, we swapped sourdough starter tips, heard about writing the album with her husband, she shared her thoughts on being compared to Sabrina Carpenter, where to eat in LA, and Hilary confesses she actually stopped at Brick Lane for a quick bagel en route to the recording! We can’t wait to see her headline at The O2 later this year when she kicks off her huge world tour. Hilary’s album ‘Luck… Or Something’ is a great record and it’s available to buy everywhere now. Thank you very much.

  Very nice.

• 0:11Speaker 01

  I thought.

• 0:12Jessie Ware?

It's almost a Percy pick, isn't it? With the, the like, it is a little bit though, isn't it?

• 0:16Speaker 01

I thought it was more Disney princess.

• 0:18Jessie Ware?

  Oh.

• 0:19Speaker 01

And I thought, big week and you've done all the cooking. And I thought to myself, I could get used to this.

• 0:26Jessie Ware?

All right, Mum. Thank you. We're recording as the week that my first single, It, for my new album is released. And mum is being a very proud Jewish mother.

• 0:34Speaker 01

  You looked gorgeous.

• 0:36Jessie Ware?

That is the publicist at the door of our next guest.

• 0:39Speaker 01

  Ding dong.

• 0:40Jessie Ware?

We are very excited to have this guest. She has just played her first show in 20 years last night.

• 0:44Speaker 01

  20.

• 0:45Jessie Ware?

At Shepherd's Bush Empire. Hilary Duff is coming on. Now, Hilary Duff is.

• 0:51Speaker 01

  Younger.

• 0:52Jessie Ware?

Younger. She's in the Netflix show called The Younger.

• 0:54Speaker 01

  She's Lizzie.

• 0:55Jessie Ware?

  She was Lizzie McGuire.

• 0:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 0:57Jessie Ware?

She was an international bestselling artist, is.

• 1:01Speaker 01

She has a few followers on Instagram.

• 1:03Jessie Ware?

  How many does she have?

• 1:04Speaker 01

  27 million, I think.

• 1:05Jessie Ware?

  Oh my god.

• 1:06Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 1:07Jessie Ware?

She's incredibly successful and she is back with a really brilliant new album. I loved it.

• 1:15Speaker 01

  It's quite naughty.

• 1:16Jessie Ware?

It's quite explicit, shall we say.

• 1:19Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:19Jessie Ware?

  There's no innuendo.

• 1:20Speaker 01

There's no, it's right out there.

• 1:22Jessie Ware?

  Yeah.

• 1:23Speaker 01

Well, what's roommates about? Touching yourself at the front door?

• 1:27Jessie Ware?

Well, you listen to the album, honey. I think it's very relatable.

• 1:32Speaker 01

  Do you?

• 1:33Jessie Ware?

Not, I'm not that I'm touching myself at the front door. I.

• 1:36Speaker 01

When you hear that bell go, you must get really excited.

• 1:41Jessie Ware?

Jesus Christ. Anyway, Hilary Duff is coming on to talk about the record. She just played a sold out show at Shepherd's Bush Empire last night.

• 1:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:52Jessie Ware?

It sold out in like seconds. Tickets were going for over a grand to get in last night.

• 1:57Speaker 01

  She looked gorgeous.

• 1:59Jessie Ware?

She did. And she hadn't, oh, it's a costume changes.

• 2:01Speaker 01

  She's so pretty.

• 2:02Jessie Ware?

She is pretty. She seems like a gorgeous gal.

• 2:05Speaker 01

  Kelsey.

• 2:06Jessie Ware?

  Oh, younger.

• 2:07Speaker 01

  She could be my friend.

• 2:08Jessie Ware?

  Oh, really?

• 2:08Speaker 01

Yeah. And she's so sweet and lovely and. Benefiting from her relationship with an older woman that she doesn't know is older.

• 2:16Jessie Ware?

I think I was in the wrong age bracket.

• 2:19Speaker 01

  Yeah, you don't.

• 2:20Jessie Ware?

  For Lizzie McGuire.

• 2:20Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:21Jessie Ware?

But I have Disney Plus, so that's what my daughter's going to be watching. Very excited to have Hilary Duff on.

• 2:27Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:27Jessie Ware?

  Um, I'm cooking.

• 2:29Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 2:29Jessie Ware?

With help from my darling Rosie. I felt like Hilary's probably on a promo ru- well, I know she's on a promo run. She's probably a bit tired, probably wants to make sure that she's being able to do.

• 2:39Speaker 01

  Have you done a bowl?

• 2:41Jessie Ware?

  I've done a bowl.

• 2:42Speaker 01

Well, everyone from L A loves a bowl, darling.

• 2:44Jessie Ware?

That's what I thought, Mum. It's a sticky miso salmon bowl and it's by Andy Baragani. And I've done his recipes before, I think, and he's really good. And Jo, who helps us with the washing up, she'd done this recipe a few weeks ago and she said it was great. It's basically a marinade of miso, honey, tiny bit of oil, grapefruit zest and grapefruit juice.

• 3:06Speaker 01

  Is it easy?

• 3:08Jessie Ware?

  I hope so, yes.

• 3:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 3:09Jessie Ware?

Rosie's also brought her rice cooker, which I'm just going to get a rice cooker.

• 3:14Speaker 01

  Yeah, I I've.

• 3:15Jessie Ware?

  A really small.

• 3:16Speaker 01

Yeah, I've got a rice cooker to make Persian, Iranian, you know, Catholic.

• 3:20Jessie Ware?

Well, I'm making sushi rice in there. So it's going to be sushi rice.

• 3:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 3:23Jessie Ware?

Sticky miso, salmon that's grilled. And then I got really beautiful waterc- those watermelon radishes, you know, the ones that like look pretty.

• 3:30Speaker 01

  Oh, they're lovely.

• 3:31Jessie Ware?

And then we're going to have some kimchi. I know you don't like it, but it's good for your gut. And I've got some chili crisps. So it's a bit of everything. Hopefully very easy to eat and will keep her, you know, focused with the American eateries. So, and then for Purge, you text me last night saying, I'm really worried about my dessert.

• 3:48Speaker 01

  I've done lemon creme brulee.

• 3:49Jessie Ware?

But you said these could be the shittest creme brulees I've.

• 3:50Speaker 01

I think I slightly, I think I slightly overcooked them, but um, they look all right. And I think when you grill them, that it will melt down anyway. So I put the amarillo sugar on the top. Have you got a blowtorch about your person?

• 4:05Jessie Ware?

Um, I'm sure Hilary could add that into the old album, couldn't she, something about a blowtorch? But, um, yeah, I don't think I have after, I think after we did it with Hayley Squires. I think we decided that was the last time we did creme brulee. It's very brave to, I think maybe we should just use the grill today, Lenny. Because you said that the creme brulee wasn't very good, Rosie had the genius idea. I was like, maybe I should just give her a cookie.

• 4:30Speaker 01

Why don't you reveal everything, Jessie? And then when she tastes it, it'll taste like shit. It was between you and I. That comment was between you and I. I'm not sure about my creme brulee. It wasn't for public consumption.

• 4:41Jessie Ware?

I'm sure it's gonna be great though. And the arc here is gonna be that everyone says your creme brulee is amazing.

• 4:45Speaker 01

No, it won't. It'll be fine.

• 4:48Jessie Ware?

Okay, well, I made an emergency cookie in case. Toasted jam, miso, white chocolate cookie. Lungi's always baking.

• 4:56Speaker 01

Oh my God, I'd like to meet Lungi.

• 4:59Jessie Ware?

Well, you're gonna taste a very delicious cookie.

• 5:02Speaker 01

  Looks fabulous.

• 5:03Jessie Ware?

Yeah, so we're gonna have cookies and creme brulee. I think this is fine.

• 5:06Speaker 01

  Good.

• 5:06Jessie Ware?

Hilary Duff coming up on table.

• 5:17Jessie Ware?

Hilary Duff, as I live and breathe.

• 5:21Jessie Ware?

  You look fantastic.

• 5:22Speaker 01

  Gorgeous.

• 5:24Jessie Ware?

Are you slightly tired? Cause after a sold out fabulous return to the stage last night.

• 5:30Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 5:31Jessie Ware?

  Does it feel good?

• 5:32Speaker 02

  Oh, yeah.

• 5:33Jessie Ware?

Did you get any sleep last night?

• 5:35Speaker 02

  No.

• 5:35Jessie Ware?

  Was the adrenaline just going?

• 5:36Speaker 02

My body was like, but, um, no, I got four hours of sleep. So, but I know.

• 5:42Jessie Ware?

  Crack open the dark.

• 5:43Speaker 02

I know. And we call them dirty, dirty diet cokes. I try not to drink them too often.

• 5:48Jessie Ware?

Oh, shut up, Hilary. It's fine.

• 5:49Speaker 01

  Why is that?

• 5:50Speaker 02

  Dirty, dirty diet coke.

• 5:52Speaker 01

  What's dirty, dirty?

• 5:53Jessie Ware?

Okay, let's enjoy it, shall we? Jesus.

• 5:56Speaker 02

  Is this one mine?

• 5:57Jessie Ware?

Yeah, crack. And then, you know, I did get some orange wine because you do sing about it on the record. So you're gonna have to educate us on orange wine because I can't stand it.

• 6:07Speaker 02

  You hate it?

• 6:08Jessie Ware?

  I'm gonna be selfless.

• 6:09Speaker 02

Isn't wine a wine, baby? Like, let's get our buzz on.

• 6:11Jessie Ware?

  I feel.

• 6:13Speaker 02

  No?

• 6:13Jessie Ware?

Feel like it's a little, I can't do too, no. Farmyard, I was gonna say.

• 6:18Speaker 02

  Oh, Farmyard. Oh.

• 6:20Jessie Ware?

Do you know what I mean? But it's a little funky.

• 6:21Speaker 02

  Too earthy.

• 6:22Jessie Ware?

Do you like a Natty? A Natty wine?

• 6:25Speaker 02

To be honest with you, I prefer like a Saint Sarah Sauvignon Blanc.

• 6:28Jessie Ware?

Oh, I've probably got something like that too babes. What would you prefer?

• 6:32Speaker 02

So my, I love that you listened and you.

• 6:34Jessie Ware?

By the way, I didn't just listen. I studied and I respect and love the record. I think it's fantastic. I think you're gonna have a fabulous time because honestly, Hilary, like it's really great. And I, and I have to say, I think we're obviously, are you gonna turn forty soon?

• 6:54Speaker 02

I am thirty eight. I'll be thirty nine in September.

• 6:56Jessie Ware?

So I'm a couple, I'm a couple of years older than you, maybe three, three or four years, whatever. But I kind of missed you the first time around. And I knew so yesterday and you were played on the radio. But I really, I feel like, and I, I've listened to all the records and I feel like this makes so much sense that you've made this record. And it's a kind of continuation. I don't feel like you've gone like this to any of your fans who I know you adore. It's kind of like they've grown up with you.

• 7:22Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 7:23Jessie Ware?

And as a mother of three and a working mom and, and a singer and doing all these different bits and bobs. I really related to a lot of the.

• 7:33Speaker 02

  Content.

• 7:33Jessie Ware?

  Content.

• 7:34Speaker 02

  Thanks.

• 7:35Jessie Ware?

And you know, I'm not necessarily giving head in the dive bar yet.

• 7:39Speaker 02

Me not, me not. You can't say that in front of Lenny.

• 7:42Jessie Ware?

Oh shit, we've been talking about what I'm gonna do.

• 7:44Speaker 01

Talking about what you do at the, with your roommate, down at the front door.

• 7:48Jessie Ware?

Oh no. I love that you say you can't talk about it with Lenny. It's a single babes.

• 7:52Speaker 02

  No, I know, I know.

• 7:54Jessie Ware?

So who is giving head in the dive bar, Hilary?

• 7:58Speaker 02

I was just talking about this on the radio and I was like, I feel, you know what, raunchy is like a big word that you guys use in, in England. Like that's not.

• 8:06Speaker 01

I've got it used in the States.

• 8:07Speaker 02

Like it, it feels like very like, it feels naughty. Like raunchy is like naughty.

• 8:12Speaker 01

  It's naughty.

• 8:12Speaker 02

  Okay, so when I listen.

• 8:14Speaker 01

  Nice naughty.

• 8:15Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 8:15Jessie Ware?

  Elevated.

• 8:16Speaker 02

  Elevated naughty.

• 8:17Jessie Ware?

  Yeah.

• 8:17Speaker 02

  We'll take it.

• 8:18Jessie Ware?

  Yeah.

• 8:18Speaker 02

I think if you listen to the song as a whole, you realize that the theme is like, actually like a desperate plea to like, get back to a place with someone that is lost.

• 8:27Jessie Ware?

  Yes.

• 8:28Speaker 02

And so like, back of the dive bar giving you head is like. Reminiscing on like a wilder, freer time. I've never actually given head in the back of a dive bar. I don't want to make anybody sad, but actually never have. Still time.

• 8:43Speaker 01

  It's a dive bar.

• 8:45Speaker 02

Oh, a dive bar is like a dirty, grungy little like corner.

• 8:48Jessie Ware?

Like what? You'll have like a pickleback with you. You'll you'll have a chaser.

• 8:51Speaker 02

Yeah, you guys don't have dive bars here?

• 8:53Jessie Ware?

  But like we have.

• 8:54Speaker 02

It's like not a fancy spot. It's just like a neighborhood.

• 8:57Speaker 01

So you walk, I can imagine where it is in in kind of New York. You walk down some steps and it's.

• 9:03Speaker 02

And like maybe there's like no windows.

• 9:05Jessie Ware?

Football's playing or they've got like good, what kind of music would be in a dive bar?

• 9:09Speaker 01

Rock? They don't, do they have music in a dive?

• 9:12Speaker 02

  Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah.

• 9:13Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 9:14Speaker 02

I guess it just depends on what kind of bar, like if it's a sports bar, they're probably like playing rock, right?

• 9:20Jessie Ware?

Where do you imagine yourself giving head? Which kind of dive bar? Jessica. I'm joking, I'm joking, I'm joking.

• 9:24Speaker 02

I hope they feel like spinning a record like vinyl, like that seems a little cooler.

• 9:28Jessie Ware?

  With natural ones.

• 9:29Speaker 02

  Let's elevate this, okay?

• 9:32Jessie Ware?

  I love this.

• 9:33Speaker 02

Lenny, what about you? What would they be playing?

• 9:35Speaker 01

In a dive bar? God, probably Tamla Motown.

• 9:39Jessie Ware?

  Oh, okay.

• 9:40Speaker 02

What's that? What's about your fantasies?

• 9:42Speaker 01

  Tamla Motown.

• 9:43Speaker 02

  What is it? Educate me.

• 9:45Jessie Ware?

  You know what? Motown.

• 9:46Speaker 02

  Oh, Motown.

• 9:47Jessie Ware?

Yeah, why do you say Tamla?

• 9:49Speaker 01

That's what it was always called, Tamla Motown.

• 9:51Jessie Ware?

  Okay.

• 9:52Speaker 02

  Tamla.

• 9:52Jessie Ware?

  Tamla.

• 9:53Speaker 01

Tamla, I don't know. Adam will tell me why it was called Tamla Motown. That was the label, Tamla Motown.

• 9:58Jessie Ware?

  Was it?

• 9:59Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 10:00Jessie Ware?

Label people in the back. Well, thank you, thank you. Um, but I think that like, you know, talking about drinking wine, reminiscing, it's all these things. I mean, I guess when you you've got three, four kids.

• 10:11Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 10:11Jessie Ware?

And what I find interesting is that you made this record with your husband.

• 10:16Speaker 02

  Hmm.

• 10:17Jessie Ware?

Who you've made music with before.

• 10:19Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 10:20Jessie Ware?

But was this kind of, I want to know, was the conversations about these songs, did they happen before making? Or did the the deep conversation have to happen after you came out with some of these lines? Like, I feel like, was it very therapeutic? Was it, um, confronting?

• 10:38Speaker 02

Yeah, I think it was a, it was a combination of both, but, um, the thing that was, I knew I only wanted to work with him on the record, right? And, um.

• 10:51Jessie Ware?

  Why is that?

• 10:52Speaker 02

I had never made a record like that before where I got to really, I don't want to say I don't control the narrative because like I'm so involved in all the records that I've made, but I've never, like, I've never really like put the gates up and just been like, very like singular about it, I guess, or insular about it. Is that the better word? Like, it's always been like, oh, like, you should be working with this person because they have this song and this song and like, and you should fly to Sweden because all the pop stuff's coming out of Sweden and you should like, a lot of like input, input, input. And not that it was bad, it totally like, got me on my way. Like it, it was my journey and my path and it took, but it took me getting to this age to be like, how do I want to do this?

• 11:37Jessie Ware?

  Have your own autonomy.

• 11:38Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 11:39Jessie Ware?

  And be true to yourself.

• 11:41Speaker 02

And be true to myself and make something that was just like really, really, I mean, I took 10 years off and I did a whole bunch of life in during that 10 years as a human being would, but Matt has had a front row seat to that whole timeframe, you know, so it just seemed like the themes that would come that are like heavily threaded through the record are very just like me and things that I've gone through and it didn't make sense to like bring anybody else into that.

• 12:11Jessie Ware?

I guess that's what I think is so telling about the lyrics because they are incredibly open, you know, something like The Optimist. It's like, you know, it's heartbreaking and

• 12:21Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 12:21Jessie Ware?

And you know, I guess you felt safe enough with your partner to be able to put that into music. It wasn't like working with strangers and being like, how do I explain this part of my life? And I found that really engaging and, and interesting. And, and also, you know, we were talking about this before. We're going to get on to, you know, your start and all of that, but um, you were kind of the first Disney star to go and do all the rest, like the pop, the breakout, you know, the Miley's, the Demis and Selena's came after you.

• 12:53Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 12:54Jessie Ware?

And, you know, I heard lots of these references on the record, maybe I'm wrong, but like, I could hear a bit of Taylor Swift in there or like a bit of Sabrina and I, and we thought about this and we were like, well, they were probably all listening to you when they were little.

• 13:06Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 13:07Jessie Ware?

And they grew up on you. So it's kind of gone full circle.

• 13:10Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 13:10Jessie Ware?

  Is that right?

• 13:11Speaker 02

Well, yeah, but I have a really hard time talking about. Other female artists and like trying to compare or like find, you know, the in the internet is so fast to hear something one time and then be like, oh, reheated Sabrina and you're like,

• 13:28Speaker 02

  first of all.

• 13:29Jessie Ware?

By the way, I'm not saying it's reheated Sabrina.

• 13:31Speaker 02

No, no, no, no, I'm just saying like a cruel like internet take is like wild and you're like, well, I will, I am older and I was here first and you know, it's not, there's like plenty of space, obviously for everyone, but every, music is just, it's very hard to be completely original anymore. You just have to go in the studio and make what you think is cool and make what feels, what you want to fucking blast in the car, excuse my French and, and be alone with your like windows down driving. Like that's the record that I wanted to make. And you know, it's pop. So pop is pop and a lot of that takes like cues from other songs or sounds. And if anything, it's a compliment because like these women are out there and

• 14:15Speaker 02

feels like they've put a lot more time in than me. I stepped away to have a family, you know?

• 14:19Jessie Ware?

I don't know, but you were working at a very young age, babe. That was like your sabbatical that you were having. You were well deserving.

• 14:24Speaker 01

But it's quite guttural, some of the lyrics, like Alonis Morissette, for example. I mean, she's very guttural, you know, in her, her openness and raw feelings. Yeah. How old your oldest child?

• 14:37Speaker 02

  He's 13.

• 14:38Speaker 01

Will he be listening to it?

• 14:39Speaker 02

Oh, yeah. He's listened to the record.

• 14:41Speaker 01

And have you had to explain anything to him?

• 14:44Speaker 02

Well, he hasn't asked about, I feel like talking about some of the roommate, roommate lyrics or something. Um, he doesn't bring it up, but I've, we've already had the talk about everything and I've explained everything to him.

• 14:59Speaker 01

So you don't have to shield him from it?

• 15:01Speaker 02

No. At 13, what am I gonna?

• 15:03Speaker 01

Yeah. No, no, no, you won't shield him, but I wondered if, yeah.

• 15:07Speaker 02

If he was like embarrassed or something by it?

• 15:08Speaker 01

Or his friends might tease him about it.

• 15:10Jessie Ware?

  Oh God, make her feel.

• 15:11Speaker 02

No, I've already thought about it.

• 15:15Speaker 01

I just wondered whether she, of course you've thought about it. Yeah.

• 15:18Speaker 02

I mean, I really desperately love to embarrass him. I feel like it's my right as a parent. But his friends think I'm cool for the like time being.

• 15:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 15:27Speaker 02

Um, and sometimes I ask if it's embarrassing to him. He's the kindest, sweetest angel baby of all time. Like he's just all good inside. And so it's like, like he. He's just like, I'm really proud of you, mom. I'm really proud of you. I know, it makes me wanna cry.

• 15:44Speaker 01

  No, I'm gonna cry now.

• 15:45Speaker 02

Yeah, but when he does, if he does ask something, I'm gonna be like, hey, guess what? Like, outside of being your mom, I'm a human. And I think that's just a great way to like, open the conversation to connect with him. So he knows that anything that he could ever think or feel or say or do, he could come to me about, you know?

• 16:01Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 16:01Speaker 02

And I think that's really important.

• 16:02Speaker 01

By the way, you don't look like a mom of four. She looked, honestly, you looked so young.

• 16:08Speaker 02

  Really young.

• 16:09Jessie Ware?

How old were you when you?

• 16:10Speaker 02

  I was twenty four.

• 16:11Jessie Ware?

  Yeah, wow.

• 16:12Speaker 01

  That is quite young.

• 16:13Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 16:14Speaker 01

Probably isn't quite young for the old days, but it is quite young these days, yeah.

• 16:18Jessie Ware?

So I'm sure you kind of, I don't know, like, you probably felt more grown up than the usual twenty four year old because you'd had a working job from the age of, what, nine?

• 16:27Speaker 02

Yes, and I was so ready to like, have something that belonged to just me. You know, like, so I was ready, like, he was planned and, but it was really a wild choice. When I look back as a thirty eight year old now, I'm like, who was that pregnant? Getting like, doing such adult things, even though I, you know, employed people and like, made millions of dollars and like, traveled around the world like, with a major, major job. Um, that was definitely the biggest like, grown up responsibility, you know?

• 17:00Jessie Ware?

As somebody who does music and I have three kids and I have a slight envy of you that you were able to take this time out. And I'm not saying you weren't doing it, I think, in the time when you weren't, you know, your last record was ten years ago.

• 17:12Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 17:13Jessie Ware?

But I do, there's something really beautiful that you, you, you really talk about this a lot and, like, celebrating that time with your children. And I feel like my career is happening at the same ti- you know what I mean? And, and so.

• 17:28Speaker 02

So you're like, don't get the time with them that you?

• 17:30Jessie Ware?

I mean, I get as much time as possible and I try and like, you know, I try and, I'm gonna do the school pickup and I, you know, I do all the things, I'll make sure, I'll, I'll be putting them to bed, but there's time when I'm not gonna be here and so.

• 17:40Speaker 02

  Right.

• 17:40Jessie Ware?

But also think, you know, things take you away and I think.

• 17:43Speaker 01

I think it was harder at the beginning.

• 17:45Jessie Ware?

I think it definitely was harder at the beginning and I think we found our feet and I have an amazing support network and I've been able to like, work it out better, but I do think it's. Kind of wonderful that you were able to focus in and I'm interested and I don't wanna sound like that kind of textbook, well, how are you gonna manage your job because you're a woman. It's not that at all, but like touring is gonna be different for you this time around, huh?

• 18:09Speaker 02

  I know.

• 18:09Jessie Ware?

Um, do you plan to like bring the kids with? Cause I know, is your husband here at the moment?

• 18:14Speaker 02

He, he's such an angel that he flew in to the show with me, flew out this morning. I know, he's gonna go back, have like two days with our kids so they don't not have one of us there and then meet me in Toronto, do the same and then we'll go to New York and then our nanny's flying with our baby because I can't go, I can't go 10 days.

• 18:32Jessie Ware?

  How old's your baby?

• 18:33Speaker 02

She's 21 months. I know, I know. And she's so cute. You guys, she's obsessed with seaweed right now. And so she's learned how to say it and she's like, fui fuied.

• 18:43Jessie Ware?

  Fui fuied.

• 18:44Speaker 02

Fui fuied. And we're like, I just wanna like watch the video on repeat over and over again. But um, I got divorced from my son's dad and I was filming younger at the time. So I spent a ton of time away and it was really hard because I was like on the East Coast and I didn't wanna like disrupt his life. And so he was like in kindergarten already and the school's very like, you know, the kids can't miss and it's not like, you know, it's.

• 19:10Jessie Ware?

  Do you live in LA?

• 19:11Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 19:11Jessie Ware?

  Okay.

• 19:12Speaker 02

Yeah. But I, I do, I did exactly the same. Like I just had to find the support system and you know, the people around that have like basically become our family that can help, you know, know that every single one of our days looks different. Like it's not.

• 19:28Jessie Ware?

  Yes.

• 19:28Speaker 02

It's not. And they, they can just like adapt and know what's needed and like jump in and, and be like so helpful and comforting and loving and whatever and be my brain for me when I can't be the one to like, you know, orchestrate the ship. But I think they'll come on tour. And the other thing that happened to me a couple of weeks ago was I was in rehearsal and surprises really.

• 19:52Speaker 02

I'm not good with surprises because I like to process and like

• 19:55Jessie Ware?

Cause you're a control freak, Hilary?

• 19:57Speaker 02

I don't think I'm a control freak. You can actually ask my whole team that here. I barely ask any questions. I just show up and I'm like, okay, someone's figured it out for me.

• 20:05Jessie Ware?

  But you don't like surprises?

• 20:06Speaker 02

I don't love surprises because I get nervous that like my reaction wasn't as

• 20:11Jessie Ware?

  Oh, I understand that.

• 20:11Speaker 02

what people wanted it to be.

• 20:12Jessie Ware?

  Okay, yeah.

• 20:13Speaker 02

And I just need to like get my head around it and then I'm happy usually.

• 20:16Jessie Ware?

What did they do to you?

• 20:17Speaker 02

They brought my tour bus out and they like pulled me out of rehearsal and they were like, they were so excited to like, this gorgeous bus and it was absolutely gorgeous and so nice, but I was like,

• 20:29Speaker 02

how am I gonna live on this with my four kids?

• 20:31Jessie Ware?

  Yeah, okay.

• 20:32Speaker 02

There were like little slots for beds and like I just forget all of this.

• 20:35Jessie Ware?

Do you have a star room at the back?

• 20:35Speaker 02

Also, by the way, kids have to poop all the time. There's no poop in another bus.

• 20:38Jessie Ware?

  I'm very worried about that.

• 20:39Speaker 02

Where are we stopping? What are we doing?

• 20:41Jessie Ware?

You can do the cling film trick.

• 20:42Speaker 02

What, like put every single time?

• 20:44Jessie Ware?

No, I know. No, I know. I know.

• 20:46Speaker 02

I have to like, you're like,

• 20:47Jessie Ware?

Have they not? Not that I have done the cling film trick.

• 20:50Speaker 01

Excuse me, have they not elevated tour buses so you can have a poo?

• 20:53Jessie Ware?

Sort it out. Why? It's mad.

• 20:56Speaker 02

  I know.

• 20:56Jessie Ware?

Maybe we should go into that process of sorting out, being allowed to poo on a bus.

• 21:02Speaker 02

Don't you just feel like a good table conversation always sometimes ends talking about poop? Like this has to. It's just the thing.

• 21:08Jessie Ware?

  It's not, we're just starting.

• 21:10Speaker 02

  Lenny's like, no.

• 21:10Jessie Ware?

No, we love, I love, I, I mean, I'm kind of obsessed with, I think from having children. It's that like.

• 21:16Speaker 02

It becomes a very comfortable topic.

• 21:17Jessie Ware?

  Yes, I love it.

• 21:18Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 21:18Jessie Ware?

Okay, we're gonna start, start talking about some food. We are gonna feed you as well.

• 21:22Speaker 01

But I need to know, you were born and brought up where?

• 21:26Speaker 02

  In Texas.

• 21:27Speaker 01

In Texas. So how did that, when you started at, because you were a child star. So did your whole family move with you?

• 21:35Speaker 02

  No.

• 21:36Speaker 01

Oh, wow. So where did you live?

• 21:39Speaker 02

So my mom started bringing us out to LA for like a few months at a time for like the seasons. There's like an episodic season and um, I forget what the other one's called, more movies type additions. And um. Is that like pilot season? Pilot season. That's in January, isn't it? It used to be, I don't know. Okay. I can't remember, but yes, yes. Um, and we were there for like a few months and we go back to Texas and we come back and go back and forth. You haven't got much of a Texan accent. Yeah, you, we, when we got out to LA, we got teased enough that you just drop it. Oh, my goodness.

• 22:18Speaker 02

I know. People thought we would like, we had like just dirt roads and like, you know, LA kids are not like, they're like, think that we like ride to school on horses and stuff. Love a steak. Yeah, I thought you. Love to steak. Let's paint the picture. What's a memorable meal from your childhood and who was eating round the dinner table? Okay, so my dad used to cook a lot of steaks. Yeah. Um, and he also used to go deer hunting. So we eat like. Oh, my God. Okay. I know. Bambi. Bambi. Oh, my God. I know, I know. I mean, I didn't know any better. Delicious. No, I'm sure. Um, I used to remember that they would also like go quail hunting. Have you ever eaten quail?

• 23:02Speaker 02

I've eaten quail legs, I think. Yeah, I've had quail once or twice. Okay, so when they shoot, why am I talking about this? This is so random. Because we're on a food podcast, babe. Okay, so when they shoot quail, it like sprays. And so the bullet like sprays. So when you like eat it. You get shrapnel, yeah. Yes, and they used to call it shot. And they'd be like, careful, don't get shot in your teeth or something. And you don't wanna like bite down too hard. You don't wanna chink your teeth. Yeah. So we ate some pretty crazy things. Tiny though, quail. Yeah, they're really small. And they shot them? I think they had to get them down somehow. Yeah, they do. Do they fly in packs? I don't remember these, these. You were going out on that. I wasn't doing it. A memorable dish is really like what your dad would bring in.

• 23:45Speaker 02

Okay, but my mom also cooked too. And so like casserole, yeah, she's a pretty good cook. Casseroles and stuff. And it was you and your sister around the dinner table. And then, um. We always had like a salad. Okay. Ate most meals together. Or like, sorry, dinner. What time did you eat dinner? Early, like five thirty. Yeah, that would, you'd be, I, I love it. That's my favorite. Baby, I'm back. I'm back. I want the early reservation. I want to be the first one walking in the restaurant. Oh, my God. I want to be in bed by nine o'clock, nine thirty. Same.

• 24:15Speaker 01

You make reservations for five thirty?

• 24:18Speaker 02

  Oh, yeah.

• 24:18Speaker 01

  Oh, my God.

• 24:19Jessie Ware?

  I'm like outside the door.

• 24:21Speaker 02

And it feels so good. Get a glass of wine in.

• 24:24Speaker 01

  On holiday.

• 24:25Speaker 02

Oh, I did, and I was devastated. I was, I've never been like, I don't even mean hungover by like alcohol, just tired hungover. I was just like rocked.

• 24:34Speaker 01

We don't eat till ten in Greece.

• 24:35Speaker 02

  That is not okay.

• 24:37Jessie Ware?

  No, I agree.

• 24:38Speaker 02

I'm not hungry at that point. I've gone like, what?

• 24:41Speaker 01

It depends how your day's gone, really, and you've had a little sleep.

• 24:44Jessie Ware?

Well, when you have young children that are waking up at the crack of dawn.

• 24:47Speaker 02

Yeah, I don't know about that, like luxurious lifestyle. You show me the ways.

• 24:52Jessie Ware?

Okay, so I'm gonna put the salmon on.

• 24:54Speaker 01

  Yeah, I'm gonna carry on.

• 24:55Jessie Ware?

And you're gonna carry on chatting, but I'm gonna assemble. We're gonna have a sticky miso salmon bowl with like sushi rice and radish. It's gonna be, I felt like this is what you needed after your big night last night.

• 25:09Speaker 02

Yeah, I just wanna let you know I did not eat yesterday.

• 25:12Speaker 01

Oh, wow, so get going, Jess.

• 25:14Jessie Ware?

  You were nervous.

• 25:15Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 25:15Speaker 01

So she's starving, that's the key.

• 25:18Speaker 02

  Get on it, Jessie.

• 25:18Speaker 01

Jessie, Jessie, um, did you notice that Hillary said she liked sauvignon or a sansé?

• 25:26Jessie Ware?

  Yes.

• 25:27Speaker 02

  We're ready for the booze.

• 25:28Jessie Ware?

  What I got, okay?

• 25:29Speaker 01

Yeah, we could have a little drink.

• 25:30Jessie Ware?

I wanna make sure that you're okay. Yeah, okay, hold on. Right, what is that? Oh, that looks a bit of you, babe, but maybe not, hold on.

• 25:37Speaker 02

  That looks nice.

• 25:38Jessie Ware?

  Okay, it's a Chardonnay, though.

• 25:39Speaker 01

Ooh. No, me too. Completely with you. It made me feel sick if I had them.

• 25:46Speaker 02

Wait, is it a French Chardonnay? Because I think that's different.

• 25:48Jessie Ware?

  Fucking mine.

• 25:48Speaker 01

No, darling, so they're too creamy and ugh.

• 25:52Jessie Ware?

You liked, you liked the look of it, though, didn't you?

• 25:55Speaker 02

  I did.

• 25:56Speaker 01

No, Jessie, it'll be all creamy and dreary.

• 25:58Jessie Ware?

I don't know what that is, because I can't read Italian.

• 26:01Speaker 02

  We don't want dreary.

• 26:02Jessie Ware?

  God, you fucking idiot.

• 26:04Speaker 01

Let me see, darling, because I can read.

• 26:06Jessie Ware?

I don't know, it's Italian, oh, you, oh, you're, is that Liang, okay, cool.

• 26:10Speaker 01

  It's a.

• 26:10Jessie Ware?

And I've got, I've got a fizzy orange, which is maybe what we're.

• 26:13Speaker 01

San Germaniano, it's, it probably is quite nice, better than Chardonnay.

• 26:20Speaker 01

  I hate Chardonnay.

• 26:21Speaker 02

  I hate Chardonnay.

• 26:22Speaker 01

  Me too.

• 26:23Speaker 02

  I know. You like it?

• 26:25Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 26:26Speaker 02

You're like an old man. Only old men drink Chardonnay.

• 26:29Jessie Ware?

  Get out of my house.

• 26:30Speaker 01

  They do. It's true.

• 26:32Jessie Ware?

  I love Chardonnay.

• 26:33Speaker 02

  You don't.

• 26:33Jessie Ware?

  I do, actually.

• 26:34Speaker 01

  Why?

• 26:35Jessie Ware?

Duh. It's actually very chic to like it now.

• 26:38Speaker 02

  It's very.

• 26:39Speaker 01

No, it isn't, Charlie. No, it's not.

• 26:41Speaker 02

By the way, I also know nothing about wine. So.

• 26:44Speaker 01

  This might be nice.

• 26:45Speaker 02

Me neither. I really don't. I just can taste it and say I like it or I don't.

• 26:49Jessie Ware?

  That's exactly what I do.

• 26:51Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 26:52Speaker 02

But sometimes like a nine dollar bottle I love and like.

• 26:55Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 26:55Speaker 02

  You know what I mean?

• 26:56Speaker 01

  Let me see. Cheers, darling.

• 26:59Speaker 02

  Here, Jessie, we're cheersing you.

• 27:00Jessie Ware?

  Is it okay?

• 27:01Speaker 01

  Oh, it's nice.

• 27:02Speaker 02

  It is nice.

• 27:03Jessie Ware?

  Fine.

• 27:03Speaker 02

  Fresh.

• 27:04Speaker 01

  It's fresh.

• 27:05Speaker 02

I don't meet a lot of wines I don't like, to be honest.

• 27:07Speaker 01

  Me neither.

• 27:08Speaker 02

  Yeah, except for Chardonnay.

• 27:10Speaker 01

To be perfectly honest, I can drink anything.

• 27:13Jessie Ware?

  Right.

• 27:13Speaker 02

Do you like a chilled red? Anybody like a chilled red?

• 27:15Jessie Ware?

  I love a chilled red. I love a Lambrusco.

• 27:17Speaker 02

  I love a Lambrusco.

• 27:19Jessie Ware?

We're back in. We're fine, boys. Thank you.

• 27:21Speaker 02

  We can be friends again?

• 27:22Jessie Ware?

  Yes.

• 27:22Speaker 01

Lambrusco. Is Lambrusco now a thing?

• 27:25Speaker 02

  Oh, it's cool again.

• 27:26Speaker 01

Oh, my God, that fizzy wine.

• 27:28Speaker 02

  Yeah, red, fizzy red.

• 27:29Speaker 01

Fizzy red that kids take to pop festivals, pretend.

• 27:33Jessie Ware?

No, it's quite chic now. Um, Mum, why don't you ask Hillary about the Last Supper?

• 27:38Speaker 01

I'm going to ask you, first of all, do you cook?

• 27:41Speaker 02

  Yes.

• 27:42Speaker 01

And what do you like to cook?

• 27:44Speaker 02

I'm just kind of a basic cook, but I love to make a steak.

• 27:49Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:49Speaker 02

Um, I love to roast veggies.

• 27:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:52Speaker 02

We roast a lot of like broccolini.

• 27:54Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:54Speaker 02

I make this good cauliflower with like vinegar and raisins and like parsley and caper and

• 28:00Speaker 01

  Oh, delicious.

• 28:01Speaker 02

Like if you want like a pecan or something in there and then a bunch of parsley and you chop it all up and you can pure, you can, what's it called? Pulse it in the food processor? And then you put it on the roaster broccoli and it's so good.

• 28:14Speaker 01

And they'll eat broccoli that way?

• 28:16Speaker 02

My kids will eat, sorry, I put that on cauliflower. But honestly, it would be good on broccoli too. I've just never thought to do it.

• 28:22Speaker 01

  It'd be good on broccoli.

• 28:23Speaker 02

Yeah. And then, you know, they're kids, so.

• 28:26Speaker 01

  Have chips?

• 28:27Speaker 02

  Mac and cheese.

• 28:28Speaker 01

  Oh, mac and cheese?

• 28:29Speaker 02

  Yeah, noodles.

• 28:30Speaker 01

  Noodles.

• 28:31Speaker 02

Rice. I make a lot of rice. I'm from Texas, so we eat more rice than noodles there.

• 28:35Speaker 01

  Do you?

• 28:36Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 28:36Speaker 01

  Why is that?

• 28:37Speaker 02

And my mom taught me how to make this amazing rice. It's very simple.

• 28:40Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 28:41Speaker 02

But you put the rice in the pot with no oil so it gets toasted.

• 28:45Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 28:46Speaker 02

And then you add the. The the water or the broth, sometimes I do chicken broth. Which rice do you use? Like basmati. Yeah. Like a white long grain. Um, and then I will chop an onion and grill an onion and get it like really soft. And some garlic. Yeah, add that. And then at the end, I like toss it with cilantro and it's so good. Do you eat out a lot? Uh huh. Where do you eat out when you eat out? Okay, we have this very cute neighborhood Mexican restaurant called Casa Vega. Yeah. And we eat at. Oh, I love it. I've got I've got the jumper. You do? And the girl from Nobody Wants This was wearing it and I was like, I've got that jumper. It's like the baseball top. Yes. I love Casa Vega. Okay.

• 29:31Speaker 02

Wicked. So Casa Vega is great, like little neighborhood spot. Our kids love going. They're accepting of like the mayhem. And what would you order there? Oh, gosh. Okay, so they have this thing called mojito. Oh, my gosh, I need to explain. Okay, it's a bit like a, you know, when you get fajitas? Yeah. And it's like you get like chicken or shrimp or bacon, chicken or whatever. And then it it comes with like, you know, the tortillas and rice and beans on the thing. A mojito is like a, it almost, you know, like a brick, no, a mortar and pestle? Yeah. Okay, it looks like a big, bigger one of those. And there's beef, chicken and shrimp inside. Yeah. And then there's a pepper that's almost like a chili relleno. Yeah.

• 30:15Speaker 02

But like not fried and it's stuffed with a cheese, like a, um. Wow. What's, I know, it's a big, it's a sharing meal. Yeah. And then it has like a special sauce. Yeah. Then that's what makes it the mojito. And like usually in like a Mexican family, they'll have their own special recipe, like their special sauce. And so Casa Vega's happens to be really good. So your children don't mind spicy foods? Some of them eat spicy food and some of them don't. My four year old doesn't yet. My seven year old does, but I think she really enjoys the thrill of the spice, but doesn't really like eating it. And it's a fun restaurant. It's a fun restaurant, yeah. And we go to sushi a lot. We go to this place called Kiwami. Do you know Kiwami? Do you have a T-shirt from there? No? No, should I?

• 30:56Jessie Ware?

Okay. Me and you, we're getting a five thirty res.

• 31:00Speaker 02

  Great.

• 31:00Jessie Ware?

Me and you, we're gonna fight over wine.

• 31:02Speaker 01

  When we come over next.

• 31:03Jessie Ware?

  Done.

• 31:04Speaker 01

Did you, what I'm interested, because you were a child star. How did that interfere with your education? I mean, did you have a private?

• 31:13Speaker 02

  Zero education.

• 31:13Speaker 01

  You had zero education.

• 31:15Speaker 02

I know a lot about a lot of things.

• 31:17Speaker 01

  But you're clever.

• 31:18Speaker 02

  Oh, thanks.

• 31:18Speaker 01

Yeah, you put, you, you come across as really smart.

• 31:21Jessie Ware?

You were homeschooled, right? Barely? Okay, got it.

• 31:23Speaker 01

Yeah. Have you done any kind of orthodox education or traditional?

• 31:29Speaker 02

My mom was like, can you just go get your GED? Do you guys have a GED here?

• 31:32Speaker 01

  What is that?

• 31:33Speaker 02

It's like the most basic credential of an education.

• 31:36Speaker 01

  And educational certificate.

• 31:38Jessie Ware?

Can I just ask, do you like your salmon cooked all the way through? You don't? Okay, good.

• 31:43Speaker 01

Do you, do you, is that, would you like to do something? I mean, you're doing things, you've taken a bit of a sabbatical. You've had your children, you're now back with doing your music. Do you think there's a time when you might do some further education? Because you feel you've missed out or you're quite happy?

• 32:01Speaker 02

I'm happy and I feel like I educated myself on my own of like different things I was interested in.

• 32:10Speaker 01

  Like re- reading?

• 32:11Speaker 02

  I love to read.

• 32:12Speaker 01

  Yeah, you're a big reader.

• 32:13Speaker 02

I mean, I don't have as much time as I would like to read, but I really enjoy reading.

• 32:17Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 32:17Speaker 02

But I think I'm past the window of like caring that my education wasn't great.

• 32:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 32:23Speaker 02

Because I feel like I got strengths in other areas and that kind of like helps. And I'm not like shy to ask a question about something. Like I know that my life was different than most and like I don't need to be embarrassed that I don't know when like a certain war took place, like there's Google for that and ChatGPT. And honest, and honestly, something that's been so cool is connecting to my kid and having him teach me stuff that I didn't know about because he is getting a really great education.

• 32:50Speaker 01

But are you aspirational for him?

• 32:53Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 32:53Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 32:54Speaker 02

It'll be way more important for them to.

• 32:55Speaker 01

So you you would stick, because I noticed you said about touring, that you wanted to make sure that your kids can stay in school. And that's important. So your husband's gone straight back.

• 33:07Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 33:08Speaker 01

To make sure the kids are okay.

• 33:09Speaker 02

We are like a very routine based family and I just noticed my kids do so much better.

• 33:15Jessie Ware?

Okay, I think it's like on the edge of being, it's not overcooked, but it's definitely, um, it's got a little, it's not as raw as I think you would have wanted, and I'm sorry.

• 33:24Speaker 02

This is stunning. I've never made a piece of fish that looks this beautiful.

• 33:28Jessie Ware?

You're very sweet. It's um, a a New York Times recipe. So it's um, Andy Baragani.

• 33:34Speaker 02

Do you always like cook this colorful?

• 33:37Jessie Ware?

I, I kind of do, but like I wanted to make sure that you like, I felt like, I know what it's like, the day after you're on a tour, you're back, I just felt like you needed like good shit in you.

• 33:49Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 33:50Jessie Ware?

  Um, enjoy.

• 33:51Speaker 02

My midwives um, told me to eat the rainbow, so I tried to do that a lot.

• 33:56Speaker 01

  It's really delicious, Jess.

• 33:58Jessie Ware?

  It's a good recipe. It's got, it's got, um.

• 34:02Speaker 02

Shut up, you are a very good cook.

• 34:03Jessie Ware?

  You're very sweet. I followed a recipe.

• 34:06Speaker 02

  I.

• 34:06Jessie Ware?

It's nice though. Do you want some salt or anything?

• 34:08Speaker 02

No, it's so great. Um, back to that conversation about my kids.

• 34:13Jessie Ware?

  Yep.

• 34:14Speaker 02

I desperately don't want my life to become like this big looming shadow over how they have to like live their life.

• 34:21Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 34:22Speaker 02

And it's like one of my biggest fears about like going on tour and being so much like more like forward facing. Because they're the like stars of our household, you know?

• 34:35Speaker 01

They're the stars of our household.

• 34:36Speaker 02

I want to like try my best to like preserve that.

• 34:41Jessie Ware?

So if it all goes incredibly well.

• 34:44Speaker 02

  Mm hmm.

• 34:45Jessie Ware?

Which I feel like it is going to. And can we talk about now that you have more dates? So this was your little, your little appetizer.

• 34:55Jessie Ware?

This Sheppes Bush Empire, give me the stats on this, it sold out in like seconds and tickets were going for over a grand outside last night.

• 35:04Speaker 02

Wait, really? I didn't know that.

• 35:06Jessie Ware?

No, I mean, it's not your fault. It's fantastic for you. So, um, people were like selling them for over a grand last night.

• 35:12Speaker 02

  See, that makes me upset.

• 35:14Jessie Ware?

Yeah, but it's kind of cool too.

• 35:15Speaker 02

  No, it's very.

• 35:16Jessie Ware?

  It's upsetting, but it's, it's also, there's a demand for you.

• 35:19Speaker 02

  One hundred percent.

• 35:19Jessie Ware?

So what's going on later in the year?

• 35:22Speaker 02

So like Big Daddy, Big Daddy Tour is going on sale.

• 35:27Jessie Ware?

  Is that what it's called?

• 35:28Speaker 02

  I, it's what I'm calling it.

• 35:29Jessie Ware?

  Okay, the Big Daddy Tour.

• 35:30Speaker 02

I mean, yeah, they're the big, big rooms.

• 35:32Jessie Ware?

Okay, so tell us where you're playing.

• 35:35Speaker 02

  The O2.

• 35:35Jessie Ware?

  Oh, Muzzle Tour.

• 35:37Speaker 01

Jessie, this is such a good recipe.

• 35:39Jessie Ware?

This is a really, it's good. It's nice.

• 35:41Speaker 01

You didn't put grapefruit in though.

• 35:42Jessie Ware?

  Yeah, it's grapefruit.

• 35:43Speaker 02

  What?

• 35:43Jessie Ware?

Grapefruit zest and grapefruit juice in the miso marinade.

• 35:48Speaker 02

God, because it is so bright and like citrusy.

• 35:50Jessie Ware?

Mmm. So you're gonna do an arena tour in the States as well?

• 35:55Speaker 02

In the States, it's going to be mixed, like amphitheaters and arenas.

• 36:00Jessie Ware?

  Amazing.

• 36:00Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 36:01Jessie Ware?

And can we say when, when this tour is?

• 36:03Speaker 02

The, one in the States is gonna be over the summer.

• 36:06Jessie Ware?

  Okay, nice.

• 36:07Speaker 02

And then this one will be, in, in the UK will be in September.

• 36:12Jessie Ware?

Do you think the kids will come along for that then? Yeah?

• 36:14Speaker 02

Yeah. And I'm desperate. My son's obsessed with soccer.

• 36:18Jessie Ware?

  Okay.

• 36:18Speaker 02

So I'm desperate to sign up.

• 36:20Speaker 01

  Which team does he like?

• 36:21Speaker 02

  He's a Man City guy.

• 36:22Jessie Ware?

Oh, sorry mate. It was a bad, it was a bad, uh, day for the Blues at the weekend, wasn't it?

• 36:29Speaker 02

  Was it?

• 36:29Jessie Ware?

  Yeah, United beat them.

• 36:31Speaker 01

We're the other team, the red team.

• 36:33Speaker 02

  Okay, what is that called?

• 36:34Speaker 01

  Man United.

• 36:35Speaker 02

Okay. He's a Man City kid. Why? Tell me why? Who's like an LA boy?

• 36:40Speaker 01

  Because I think Erling Haaland.

• 36:42Jessie Ware?

Also, City have been fantastic for a very long time since he's probably got into it.

• 36:47Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 36:48Jessie Ware?

So your son's a glory hunter, basically. Um, and that's okay. We've all been there. Um, so you've got to get into a game.

• 36:55Speaker 02

  I know. Yeah.

• 36:57Jessie Ware?

  That's, that's really exciting.

• 36:58Speaker 02

And also I think I just have to get used to like having them travel a long way for good experiences and memories for our family and then get back into routine.

• 37:50Jessie Ware?

Hillary, Last Supper, starter, main, drink, dessert.

• 37:56Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 38:01Speaker 02

Do they all have to go together?

• 38:02Jessie Ware?

  No.

• 38:02Speaker 02

Are you guys going to be disgusted if I pick things that don't go together?

• 38:05Jessie Ware?

  No.

• 38:06Speaker 02

Okay. Well, I like so many foods, so this is really hard. But one of them's an In-N-Out Burger.

• 38:14Speaker 01

  Oh, I love it.

• 38:15Speaker 02

Like, that's, how do you get better than an In-N-Out Burger?

• 38:19Speaker 01

  Why is it so good?

• 38:20Speaker 02

Have you ever asked for mustard fried?

• 38:23Speaker 01

  Oh, no.

• 38:23Speaker 02

They put mustard on the burger and then they fry it. And it just like adds this depth. It's so.

• 38:29Speaker 01

I don't know how they can, they onions so sweet.

• 38:32Speaker 02

Do you think they add sugar? That's what I do when I grill onions.

• 38:35Speaker 01

Because the onions taste. You could just eat a whole bowl of those onions. Cause they're sweet and crunchy.

• 38:42Speaker 02

  I know. It's so good.

• 38:44Speaker 01

Whenever I've gone, I went once this time. I was just in LA and, because my other daughter lives there. And I went once and I go to the one near Eagle Rock off.

• 38:54Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 38:55Speaker 01

I queued for an hour and I thought, this is mad. I'm queuing for a bloody.

• 39:00Jessie Ware?

  Americans love to.

• 39:01Speaker 01

Hamburguer. And we were, it was a drive-through and you couldn't even get your car around. And I just sat there and then, you know, I just had a cheeseburger.

• 39:12Jessie Ware?

  This was incredible.

• 39:12Speaker 02

How depressing, mom. How do you feel about their french fries?

• 39:16Speaker 01

I didn't have any french fries. Are they delicious?

• 39:18Speaker 02

  No.

• 39:19Speaker 01

  They're a bit sad. They're a bit carboledy.

• 39:21Speaker 02

Yeah, like if I'm having my last meal, I want like McDonald's french fries. And then I want an In-N-Out burger. And then I want like, my appetizer would be like caviar on a potato chip with creme fraiche and like dirty martini. And maybe a glass of red wine. And maybe a diet coke.

• 39:35Jessie Ware?

  Mmm.

• 39:37Speaker 02

  It's not classy.

• 39:38Jessie Ware?

  You gin or vodka?

• 39:39Speaker 02

  And vodka.

• 39:41Jessie Ware?

Hillary, you're back on track, babe.

• 39:42Speaker 02

  With a vermouth rinse.

• 39:44Jessie Ware?

See, I like vermouth. Do you not like too much of it then?

• 39:47Speaker 02

  I just like an essence.

• 39:48Jessie Ware?

  Okay.

• 39:49Speaker 02

Yeah, and I want a blue cheese olive.

• 39:52Jessie Ware?

  Oh, every.

• 39:53Speaker 02

  A Casa Beltrano.

• 39:54Jessie Ware?

I tell you where you need, where's Casa Beltrano?

• 39:56Speaker 02

That's an olive, that the like, the like, pretty coloured olive.

• 39:59Jessie Ware?

  Okay.

• 39:59Speaker 02

  It's like light green.

• 40:00Jessie Ware?

I would like to put to you, if you have time, to go and have a dirty martini whilst you're in London, at Rita's. It's in town, it's very good.

• 40:09Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 40:10Jessie Ware?

  So I sent you.

• 40:11Speaker 02

Can I tell you guys, um, a confession?

• 40:14Jessie Ware?

  Yeah.

• 40:15Speaker 01

You didn't want to come today.

• 40:18Speaker 02

I was so excited to come today.

• 40:20Jessie Ware?

  She was really looking.

• 40:20Speaker 02

But I did get to eat one thing before I came today.

• 40:23Jessie Ware?

  What did you have?

• 40:23Speaker 02

  Because I was starving.

• 40:24Jessie Ware?

That's okay. Do you usually not, do you usually not have breakfast?

• 40:28Speaker 02

  No, I do.

• 40:28Jessie Ware?

Okay, that's fine. Well, this is lunch.

• 40:30Speaker 02

Can I tell you what I had?

• 40:31Jessie Ware?

  What?

• 40:33Speaker 02

  Salt beef.

• 40:35Jessie Ware?

  Oh, bagel.

• 40:36Speaker 01

Oh, my god, where was that?

• 40:38Jessie Ware?

From Bagel Bay, on Brick Lane. Was it amazing?

• 40:41Speaker 01

  Oh, my god.

• 40:42Speaker 02

  To die for.

• 40:43Jessie Ware?

  Good.

• 40:43Speaker 01

  I love salt beef.

• 40:44Speaker 02

  Salt.

• 40:45Jessie Ware?

Oh, if I, if I'd known, I would have asked, did you get me a dozen?

• 40:48Speaker 02

  Damn, I'm so sorry.

• 40:49Jessie Ware?

  It's okay. Oh.

• 40:51Speaker 02

  What a treat.

• 40:52Jessie Ware?

  Was it fabulous?

• 40:53Speaker 02

Yeah. I love, but, but I think we call that corned beef in the States.

• 40:56Speaker 01

  Yeah, you do.

• 40:57Speaker 02

Because I saw it and I was like, oh, it's corned beef.

• 40:59Speaker 01

Yeah, it's corned beef in the States.

• 41:00Speaker 02

  Salt beef makes more sense.

• 41:01Speaker 01

  And pastrami is pastrami.

• 41:03Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 41:04Speaker 01

Because I went to Bell's Bagels up in, oh, Island Park.

• 41:09Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 41:09Speaker 01

  And we had.

• 41:10Speaker 02

You're really in the Coolio part of town, you know that, right? It's not a food.

• 41:13Speaker 01

Not really. Um, but we had corned beef rather than salt beef.

• 41:18Jessie Ware?

And they do at the counter lactoids, because every, like, Jew is, like, lactose intolerant. So they've got, like, lactoids that you can buy at the counter, because if you're gonna have a grilled cheese bagel, I think it's so sweet, yeah.

• 41:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 41:29Jessie Ware?

  That's very sweet.

• 41:30Speaker 02

That's my husband, my sweet little Jew husband with the bad tummy.

• 41:33Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 41:33Speaker 02

  Why?

• 41:34Speaker 01

We have to go there. Jewish husbands always have bad tummies.

• 41:38Speaker 01

That's where my veneer came out.

• 41:40Jessie Ware?

  Oh.

• 41:41Speaker 01

So it was three hundred dollars later, an eagle rock.

• 41:43Jessie Ware?

  Expensive bagel.

• 41:46Jessie Ware?

  Shocker.

• 41:46Speaker 02

  That's a bad day.

• 41:47Jessie Ware?

Told him, did we get the main? Is the starter, is the main the in and out?

• 41:51Speaker 01

  She's mixing it up, Jessie.

• 41:53Speaker 02

Yeah, I think the main is the in and out.

• 41:54Jessie Ware?

Okay, we've got caviar. We've got lots of drinks. Dessert. Sweet tooth or not?

• 42:02Speaker 02

I think my dessert, I'm more of a salty girl, but I'm not like a dummy. So of course I love sweets.

• 42:10Speaker 02

I think it would be a bananas foster.

• 42:14Speaker 01

  What is it? Banana what?

• 42:16Speaker 02

It's ice cream and then they put sugar and brandy and light it on fire and put a half a banana in there and it gets like a almost like a creme brulee topping to the banana. And then they put the hot banana on the ice cream.

• 42:32Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 42:32Speaker 02

  It's so good. Bananas foster.

• 42:35Jessie Ware?

Oh, that sounds fab. And I was gonna do bonafy pie today.

• 42:38Speaker 02

  What's that?

• 42:39Speaker 01

  What?

• 42:40Jessie Ware?

Bonafy pie? Bonafy? Do you call it bonafy?

• 42:43Speaker 01

It's bananas in caramel with cream on top.

• 42:48Jessie Ware?

You do like a biscuit base, then you put like condensed milk that you've put, you've kind of reduced down. You're caramelizing. Don't you do like caramel? And then you put bananas and whipped cream on top. But I didn't do that.

• 42:59Speaker 01

  And you put.

• 42:59Speaker 02

I really love creme brulee too.

• 43:01Jessie Ware?

  Okay, good.

• 43:02Speaker 01

Oh, I made a creme brulee today.

• 43:04Jessie Ware?

So we've got creme brulee. But also because mum was worried that they weren't good. I did some emergency backup cookies, which I feel like your kids may enjoy.

• 43:16Speaker 02

  Great.

• 43:16Jessie Ware?

It's not my recipe. But my darling nanny found it and she's fab. This is a selfless vegan. She is. She was like, what about this one? And I was like.

• 43:25Speaker 01

That's a good name for a cookbook, The Selfless Vegan.

• 43:29Speaker 02

  Wait, that is very good.

• 43:31Jessie Ware?

  Yeah.

• 43:32Speaker 02

  Trademark.

• 43:32Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 43:33Jessie Ware?

  Okay, fine.

• 43:33Speaker 01

  Let's, yeah.

• 43:35Speaker 02

Does a selfless vegan mean that you will sacrifice?

• 43:38Jessie Ware?

  You'll cook meat.

• 43:39Speaker 02

  Got it, okay.

• 43:40Jessie Ware?

I'm not getting in trouble with vegans. Like, let's just, we'll make sure that that's.

• 43:44Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 43:44Speaker 02

Yeah. We already talked about shooting quails, so.

• 43:46Jessie Ware?

Okay. We already, oh yeah, fair enough.

• 43:48Speaker 02

  We shot quails tonight.

• 43:49Jessie Ware?

Um, so, so, um, this cookie is not to like.

• 43:55Jessie Ware?

  Up the stage. Your delicious.

• 43:57Speaker 01

I'm sure it'll be better, it might not be.

• 43:59Jessie Ware?

Uh, thi- this cookie, you can take it with you, have it later, whatever. It's, you toast, you, you toast some sourdough. And you put, um, jelly, you call it jelly.

• 44:08Speaker 02

What are you saying right now?

• 44:10Jessie Ware?

  Okay.

• 44:10Speaker 02

  You're talking about a cookie?

• 44:11Jessie Ware?

  Yeah babe.

• 44:12Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 44:12Jessie Ware?

  Starts with toast and jelly.

• 44:13Speaker 02

  Okay, I make sourdough.

• 44:14Jessie Ware?

Really weird. So do I. My starter's on the counter. How's yours? Is it thriving?

• 44:19Speaker 02

  She looks gorgeous.

• 44:20Jessie Ware?

Well, you know what? She was sad.

• 44:22Speaker 02

You really keep that lid on tight. I mean, no judgment.

• 44:26Jessie Ware?

  Actually, babe, it's on.

• 44:29Speaker 02

  Loose?

• 44:31Jessie Ware?

Someone's put it on tighter than I would like.

• 44:33Speaker 02

  Let me smell it.

• 44:34Speaker 01

Why don't you give her a bit to take home?

• 44:36Speaker 02

No, come on, my starter's, my starter's not happy right now.

• 44:40Speaker 01

Jessie, give her a bit and then you'll be connected forever.

• 44:43Speaker 02

No, that smells gorgeous and she's happy. Look at her.

• 44:46Jessie Ware?

She's not risen yet properly and you've just upset her.

• 44:49Speaker 01

  Oh my god.

• 44:51Speaker 02

Maybe I did it ungrudely. No, I'm kidding.

• 44:53Speaker 01

Oh my god. Jessica, your lids come off now. She'll have a heart attack.

• 45:01Jessie Ware?

  She was still growing.

• 45:02Speaker 01

  The lids are off.

• 45:03Speaker 02

  Really good to me.

• 45:04Jessie Ware?

Yeah, well, let's see how she is tomorrow, shall we?

• 45:06Speaker 02

  I'm so sorry.

• 45:06Jessie Ware?

  Jesus.

• 45:07Speaker 02

  Hope she's frothy.

• 45:08Jessie Ware?

  What's, what's, what's your, what's yours called?

• 45:13Speaker 02

  Willa.

• 45:14Jessie Ware?

  Why is she called Willa?

• 45:15Speaker 02

Honestly, I got it from the ballerina farm girl.

• 45:20Jessie Ware?

  Shut up.

• 45:21Speaker 02

I mean, I just bought her starter. She didn't like hand it to me.

• 45:23Jessie Ware?

Hold on, the, the trad wife lady.

• 45:25Speaker 02

  The trad wife lady.

• 45:25Jessie Ware?

  I'm obsessed with her.

• 45:27Speaker 02

Okay, so I bought her starter and I built it, so.

• 45:31Jessie Ware?

Do you think it's really her starter?

• 45:33Speaker 02

I have no idea, but don't crush me.

• 45:35Jessie Ware?

I tell you who my favorite trad wife is.

• 45:37Speaker 02

  Who?

• 45:37Jessie Ware?

  We know.

• 45:38Speaker 02

  Who?

• 45:38Jessie Ware?

  Nora Smith.

• 45:40Speaker 02

Nora Smith, who makes the light. She's like, I whipped it pretty much.

• 45:42Speaker 01

Does she make? My kids were craving Lucky Charms.

• 45:45Speaker 02

So I got off an eight hour flight and I gave them Lucky Charms.

• 45:48Speaker 01

And I put a ball gown on.

• 45:50Speaker 02

Yeah, she's always in like couture cooking.

• 45:52Jessie Ware?

  I, I'm, I'm obsessed.

• 45:54Speaker 02

  You are?

• 45:55Jessie Ware?

  Yeah.

• 45:55Speaker 02

She said she started the voice because her kids were sleeping.

• 45:58Jessie Ware?

  I heard she was German.

• 46:00Speaker 02

Let's just start making him a bunch of shit.

• 46:02Jessie Ware?

No babe, we're not, we're not. Anyway, I love, my TikTok is gonna be like algorithms, it's gonna be, anyway.

My friend, my friend Molly Bernard, she's one of my best friends and she is on Younger. She's the, the redhead.

• 46:14Jessie Ware?

  Oh, I love her.

• 46:16Speaker 02

So her and I became super tight, um, filming Younger. And we have this like game, we only do it between the two of us. I promise it's not like a. Like a Just like a bad thing, but anytime we're like talking about something that we don't know about, but we're having a great time doing it, we're like, oh, just make it up, make it up. Let's just make it up, make it up. It's so funny. We go down really wild lanes and it's a fun game.

• 46:41Jessie Ware?

I um, I like the sound of this Molly.

• 46:44Speaker 02

  She is an angel.

• 46:46Jessie Ware?

Were you best friends with Sutton Foster as well?

• 46:50Speaker 02

We weren't, no, we weren't as close, but like, close, but just

• 46:54Jessie Ware?

  But you like

• 46:54Speaker 02

  Different ages.

• 46:55Jessie Ware?

On the, yeah, you're close on the programme, but she's, yeah.

• 46:59Speaker 02

No, she's amazing. She taught me how to crochet.

• 47:01Jessie Ware?

  Did she?

• 47:02Speaker 02

Yeah, Sutton taught me how to crochet and she's awesome too. She's so great. Molly and I happened to have like a bond that was just like instant and we're the same age and kind of We were, I was like single when we started shooting that show and Sutton was married and Molly was single and we kind of like

• 47:21Jessie Ware?

  You had fun.

• 47:22Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 47:22Jessie Ware?

Good. Um, okay. So this is creme brulee. Oh, there's a lovely tap on that there.

• 47:27Speaker 02

  Oh, yeah.

• 47:28Jessie Ware?

Um, it has curdled though, I'm I'm afraid to say. Okay, fine. But the taste is lovely. What do you mean it's curdled? It's gone like Can you see? Yeah. But It tastes great. It tastes great, but it's

• 47:45Speaker 02

  I've never made creme brulee.

• 47:46Jessie Ware?

I wonder, yeah, it should be creamier. It should kind of

• 47:49Speaker 02

Wait, there's a lot of lemon.

• 47:50Jessie Ware?

Yeah, I like that. But then the lemon would curdle the cream, wouldn't it? This is from the best cookery writer's sift. She won the award, Nicola Lamb.

• 47:59Speaker 02

Wait, it does taste so good.

• 48:01Jessie Ware?

It tastes great. These are the cookies that you should take with you or have a little bite. They're toast with jam, jelly, um, and then you whizz them up into breadcrumbs and you do it with white chocolate and miso.

• 48:14Speaker 02

  Oh.

• 48:15Jessie Ware?

Yeah, nice. The kid, your kids would go mad for them. It's not custardy enough. It's not cust- it, I don't know what it is. It's delicious tasting though. It tastes like a lemon souffle.

• 48:26Speaker 02

I need a knife for the top there.

• 48:28Jessie Ware?

Um, before, before we let you go, we've had so much fun. You are fab and the album is fab. And now I'm really excited because I missed Lizzie McGuire the first time around, but now I'm gonna like get to watch it with my daughter. How old? She's nine. So it's like Is that perfect? Perfect. And

• 48:49Jessie Ware?

I was watching it and I was like, wow, it really, I feel like informed things like Diary of a Wimpy Kid and things like that, like. I think that came after, it must have, but like, I really think it was quite.

• 49:00Speaker 02

Right. Someone just asked me if I could say something to Lizzie McGuire before she became Lizzie McGuire, what would that be? And I was like, whoa, that's such an interesting, I've never thought about that. I always think about what I would say to like my younger self. Or like what I would say to myself after playing Lizzie McGuire and what all that felt like, because it came with like a whole bag of things.

• 49:23Jessie Ware?

  Yeah.

• 49:24Speaker 02

But I think, I told them, I was like, I think I would be like, hey, girl, I'm about to do you a big time justice, like, you know, like I'm gonna. Play you on TV and you're gonna like solve so many issues for young girls that like don't wanna feel alone. Or like, don't like that feel a little embarrassed in their own skin or, you know, she was so relatable, like she helped people through.

• 49:46Jessie Ware?

But I also, you know, I heard that you said, you know, you were Lizzie and Lizzie was you, it was kind of you were growing up with Lizzie.

• 49:52Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 49:53Jessie Ware?

And that must have been a crazy time and I, I mean, it sounds like, you know, the album's called Luck or Something. And I know that that's kind of, and I don't wanna paraphrase, well, tell everyone why it's called Luck or Something.

• 50:06Speaker 02

Will you tell me what you think?

• 50:07Jessie Ware?

Well, I kind of got told. This idea that people are like, am I right? You're so lucky. No, no, you're, how have you remained so.

• 50:16Speaker 02

  Grounded.

• 50:17Jessie Ware?

Grounded, normal, from being a Disney star, from having this, you know, huge success at a young age. Continued success. You know, we've never really seen you fly off the rails.

• 50:29Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 50:30Jessie Ware?

  Have we?

• 50:31Speaker 02

  No.

• 50:31Jessie Ware?

And it's like, and you potentially would reply with.

• 50:37Speaker 02

  That.

• 50:37Jessie Ware?

Luck or something. I don't think it's luck.

• 50:40Speaker 02

I think there's a lot of weight in that or something for me.

• 50:43Jessie Ware?

  Yes, okay.

• 50:44Speaker 02

So like, it is a little tongue in cheek and I'm like, how does one answer that question? I don't, there's no formula that I followed to be like. I'm staying, you know, on this path and I'm not gonna let you watch me fall apart. Like, it was not like. An on purpose thing or some, you know, created thing, I I I I think part of it is, I think there's a whole bunch of different answers that could be the reason why. Um. But the or something is like, you know, I made a lot of choices that were probably pretty good as well.

• 51:17Jessie Ware?

  Yeah.

• 51:18Speaker 02

So it's like kind of owning, trying to take some of that power for myself and be like.

• 51:22Jessie Ware?

So there's nothing really you would have changed.

• 51:25Speaker 02

Oh, gosh, there's so much I would change. I think.

• 51:28Jessie Ware?

You would have changed if you had the time again, because your life's been, you've enjoyed your life, you've been successful and.

• 51:36Speaker 02

There's a lot of like family trauma.

• 51:38Jessie Ware?

  Okay.

• 51:39Speaker 02

There's a lot of like disintegration of family, which has been really challenging, yeah. So that would be the the thing that I would change the most, but I've had a lovely life. I'm so blessed. I get to go home to my amazing family that I've created for myself, you know, and I would

• 51:58Speaker 02

ship all of this off to like always make sure that I had that.

• 52:01Jessie Ware?

  Mm hmm.

• 52:02Speaker 02

  You know?

• 52:02Jessie Ware?

Last question. Nostalgic taste that can transport you back somewhere.

• 52:08Speaker 02

  A taste?

• 52:08Jessie Ware?

  Yeah, or a smell.

• 52:12Speaker 02

My mom's chicken and dumpling soup.

• 52:15Jessie Ware?

  Mmm.

• 52:16Speaker 02

It's just like my childhood with a bow around it. Yeah.

• 52:19Jessie Ware?

  That sounds lovely.

• 52:20Speaker 02

Yeah, and an upside down pineapple cake. Have you guys had upside down pineapple? It's like made in a skillet and you put like the brown sugar and I don't know if it's like cream or something. And you put, it's very, it's very Texas. You put like the the canned sliced pineapples with the cherry in it. And then you pour the batter on top and then you bake it and it's so good.

• 52:41Jessie Ware?

Gorgeous. Hillary, it's been such a pleasure having you. Such a pleasure. And I wish you all the best with the record. I don't think you're gonna need it. I really. It's a great pop record.

• 52:53Speaker 02

It is so sweet that you gave it that much of a listen.

• 52:57Jessie Ware?

No, I, I, no, that's very kind of you, but I wanted to because I was really enjoying it. And by, you know, the second chorus, I'm singing along. And so I've got my windows down. I'll be there singing it and I'll be singing it with my kids. And like, I'm really thrilled for you.

• 53:12Speaker 02

  Thank you.

• 53:13Jessie Ware?

That you have your own autonomy and you, you know, you're so in control and it's like your story. And I think it's just gonna be an absolute smash. So congratulations.

• 53:22Speaker 02

  Thank you.

• 53:23Jessie Ware?

  Well done. Thanks for coming.

• 53:24Speaker 02

Oh my gosh, this was the best.

• 53:26Jessie Ware?

  Great.

• 53:26Speaker 02

  I loved it.

• 53:27Jessie Ware?

  Good.

• 53:27Speaker 02

  I'm coming back.

• 53:28Jessie Ware?

  Yeah.

• 53:28Speaker 01

  Good.

• 53:29Speaker 02

  Great.

• 53:44Jessie Ware?

I love Hilary Duff. She is fun.

• 53:47Speaker 01

  She's great fun.

• 53:48Jessie Ware?

  Sassy, opinionated.

• 53:50Speaker 01

  Naughty.

• 53:51Jessie Ware?

  Naughty, raunchy.

• 53:53Speaker 01

  Definitely raunchy.

• 53:54Jessie Ware?

Could have left my starter alone, but you know, she knows that that's really, I'm gonna show her the loaf and see if it.

• 54:00Speaker 01

Actually, it's looking a bit odd over there, like it's fished up at the top.

• 54:04Jessie Ware?

That's good. She could, maybe she did good for it. I don't know. Anyway.

• 54:06Speaker 01

We need to give it a shake.

• 54:08Jessie Ware?

Big fan. Record so truthful. I'm a Hilary Duff stan.

• 54:11Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 54:12Jessie Ware?

I'm gonna be there watching Lizzie McGuire till I'm old, like that. And then Cinderella story and stuff. Yeah, no, she's great. Fab. Um, thank you, Hilary Duff. Thank you for being so open and fun and drinking three different drinks and eating and being so complimentary. I like you a lot. And, um, mum, thank you for bringing the creme brulees.

• 54:32Speaker 01

  The scrambled egg creme brulees.

• 54:33Jessie Ware?

Yeah, they are, but they do taste nice.

• 54:35Speaker 01

  The taste was delicious.

• 54:37Jessie Ware?

The lesson is don't do lemon.

• 54:38Speaker 01

No, I think that I overcooked them at the beginning and they went like bitter, like a souffle. But they're not like a custard, but honestly, I did my very best. I don't know what I've done wrong, but the taste is lovely of the lemon. That would be nice on a topping.

• 54:55Jessie Ware?

Yeah. Thank you, Hilary. Thanks, mum. And thank you to everyone who's listening and watching and we'll see you next week.
