Small Dick Durbin Energy [TEASER]

Only subscribers get to hear the rest of our conversation about how the Democratic party fell short of making judicial appointments and failed to hold Republicans - and specific Supreme Court Justices accountable. A lot of these mistakes stem from one man, Senator Dick Durbin. To hear the whole episode, subscribe to 5-4 Premium on Patreon, Apple Podcasts, or Spotify. Hey, everyone. This is Leon from Prologue Projects. On this subscriber-only episode of Five to Four, Peter, Rhiannon, and Michael are looking back at the Biden administration and talking about how the Democratic Party blew it on making judicial appointments and serving as a check on the Supreme Court.

• 0:20Speaker 01

This is a longer-term failure of the Democratic Party. It's not focusing on the judiciary as something to educate their base on and the impact that it'll have long-term.

• 0:29Speaker 00

As you'll hear, the hosts hold no one more responsible than Senator Dick Durbin, Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. They discuss why he failed so miserably at holding Republicans and certain Supreme Court justices accountable. This is Five to Four, a podcast about how much the Supreme Court sucks.

• 0:51Speaker 00

Welcome to Five to Four, where we dissect and analyze the Supreme Court cases that have wreaked havoc on our civil liberties, like raw milk will be wreaking havoc on our digestive systems this time next year. I'm Peter. I'm here with Michael.

• 1:04Michael Liroff?

  Hey, everybody.

• 1:05Speaker 00

  And Rhiannon.

• 1:06Speaker 03

Hello. What could this be a reference to?

• 1:09Speaker 00

  This is about RFK.

• 1:12Speaker 03

Uh-huh. A certain man now in charge of, like, our health.

• 1:17Michael Liroff?

  Or soon to be.

• 1:18Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:19Speaker 00

From this point forward, each metaphor will be about a different kind of diarrhea that RFK is going to give us all.

• 1:26Speaker 03

  Oh, my God.

• 1:28Michael Liroff?

Raw milk does so much worse than diarrhea, though, is the thing.

• 1:33Speaker 00

  Okay.

• 1:34Michael Liroff?

  I've gotten salmonella.

• 1:35Speaker 03

  Okay. Say more about that.

• 1:38Michael Liroff?

It's the worst. I got it in October 2022. I think in 2021. I don't know. When there's a big outbreak with onions from Mexico. It was right when I moved to Albuquerque. I think it was literally my first night in Albuquerque.

• 1:52Speaker 03

  Oh, God.

• 1:53Michael Liroff?

  And...

• 1:53Speaker 00

You ate a fresh onion off the ground.

• 1:55Michael Liroff?

Yeah, that's right. That's right. And...

• 1:59Michael Liroff?

It was wild. We ate lunch or whatever. Few hours later, sitting down to watch a TV show, feeling fine, had to stop the show 15 minutes in being like, oh, something's not right. I'm feeling a little sick. And then, within like, an hour, I had 103 degree fever.

• 2:19Speaker 03

  Damn.

• 2:19Peter Shamshiri?

  Jesus Christ.

• 2:20Michael Liroff?

And was just like, popping like Ibuprofen and had like, multiple fans blowing on me, and it was maintaining over 103. I think I would have been over 104 if I hadn't done anything. Like, it was wild how quick it came on, and how awful I felt. I was like, I might be dying. I feel like I'm dying. This might be the end.

• 2:43Speaker 03

  Well.

• 2:43Michael Liroff?

  Right now.

• 2:44Speaker 03

Looking forward to that experience, to just add to the shit that I've been through in my life.

• 2:50Michael Liroff?

Don't drink raw milk, you fucking morons.

• 2:54Peter Shamshiri?

Once it becomes illegal to distinguish between raw and pasteurized milk, we'll all know what this is like.

• 3:00Speaker 03

  Yeah, exactly.

• 3:02Peter Shamshiri?

To give a little bit of color, RFK is one of those absolute schmucks who basically believes that like, anything that a scientist has told you, he's telling you for profit. This is why food scientists are so rich. And if we would simply return to the lands by consuming more wastewater to build our immune system up or whatever, then we would be better off. And this has like, sparked a social media debate. Have you guys seen any of this? But like, people will just be on TikTok, drinking raw milk and being like, this is good for you. There is a lady who was like, I've had this raw milk in my fridge for six weeks, and it does not spoil the way that pasteurized milk does.

• 3:47Speaker 03

Oh my god. Because in a way, it's already spoiled. It comes out of the cow.

• 3:53Peter Shamshiri?

When she pours it out, I'm telling you, it is chunking out of that.

• 3:57Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 4:00Speaker 03

I've seen someone posting about raw cream. And first of all, it is thicker than sour cream.
