• 0:40Matt Farah?

and any other number of things. OfftheRecord.com/tst. Write it down, have it ready. Yeah. Alright, on this episode of the podcast, Magnus Walker is in studio. Homie's cleaning out his closet. His closet's just a little more interesting than yours. He gets to clean out his closet at Sotheby's. He's got a whole bunch of Porsches, whole bunch of parts, and he's over here telling some stories about his stuff that you can take home. The original urban outlaw. Magnus Walker is in studio. It's the Smoking Tire Podcast. Let's go. I had a motorcycle license. I, stupidly, admittedly, in dead stop traffic, going south

• 1:25Matt Farah?

on La Brea, tried to ride in between the parked cars. And someone doored me. Dropped the bike.

• 1:34Speaker 01

I don't know about you, but I'm on a record with my 991 outside. I'm now up to maybe six punctures, rocks. Last week was two weeks ago, this time on a Friday in downtown LA, I get a knife blade, maybe inch and a half, through the rear, at 3 o'clock by Pershing Square. And you know, instantly zero tire pressure, so I can't plug it, won't hold air. So of course I gotta call AAA, get towed to downtown LA Porsche. It's a $700 tire.

• 2:05Matt Farah?

I bet it is. Is it even like a run flat?

• 2:08Speaker 01

No, of course not. Of course it's not a run flat. They don't stock them, so you gotta order it.

• 2:13Matt Farah?

Are those, is this your, is this the... Largest rim size you've ever owned on a car? These like twenties or twenty ones?

• 2:20Speaker 01

  Yeah, that's exactly it.

• 2:21Matt Farah?

And have you had the most punctures of any car you've ever?

• 2:24Speaker 01

Whether it's a blade, a knife, a rock, I've probably literally had half a dozen. Within one week I had two. Left side was an inch and a half blade. Right side was a wood screw by the house in the hills.

• 2:36Matt Farah?

  That's tough.

• 2:37Speaker 01

So it's either potholes, rocks, or just debris screws.

• 2:41Matt Farah?

Well, I'll tell you what, after is after the rains too. Cause after the rains, you know what happens. Like people who are doing like construction on their houses and shit.

• 2:49Speaker 01

  Right.

• 2:49Matt Farah?

It just floods screws and razor blades and whatever into the road.

• 2:54Speaker 01

  So annoying.

• 2:54Matt Farah?

  Yeah, it's like.

• 2:55Speaker 01

But I don't quite understand. It's not as if I'm driving that car more than any other car, but I've had a minimum of five, if not six. Always on the rear, never on the front.

• 3:04Matt Farah?

Some is random luck for sure.

• 3:06Speaker 01

  But five or six?

• 3:06Matt Farah?

Others, you know, I mean, look mathematically is possible. It is possible that through sheer randomness that could happen. Unlikely.

• 3:14Speaker 01

Somehow it's not happening on the vintage Rolls Royces.

• 3:17Matt Farah?

But it's possible. Also, the fact that is that even if, even all of the things being equal, the fact that it's the biggest rims and lowest profile tires, widest tires, that mathematically.

• 3:27Speaker 01

And sticky rubber just picks stuff up.

• 3:28Matt Farah?

Kicks it into that favor a little bit. Someone out there can make a chart for us.

• 3:32Speaker 01

  Yeah, for sure.

• 3:33Matt Farah?

We're green, right Zach? We're green, we exist? Yeah. Okay, cool. Hi, Magnus Walker. The mag, how, just fuck, it's been, I don't know, a while since you were here, but I see you, I see you socially, so it doesn't feel like it. And I just saw your Hannah. Hannah and Magnus and I have matching Hannahs.

• 3:54Speaker 01

That's right. Different spelling, same but different.

• 3:57Matt Farah?

  Different hair color.

• 3:58Speaker 01

  That's right.

• 3:59Matt Farah?

  Otherwise identical.

• 4:00Speaker 01

  That's right.

• 4:01Matt Farah?

We just, we just saw her at the ice race. Unfortunately, we missed you.

• 4:05Speaker 01

Yeah, I stayed back to, you know, to do the LA Lit Week, Art Week, Dog and Pony, Porsche Week show.

• 4:10Matt Farah?

Yes, same thing. Some people, some people came here, some people were like so annoyed that I wasn't here for this week.

• 4:17Speaker 01

  For Porsche Lit Week.

• 4:18Matt Farah?

Yeah, a bunch of my other Miami people and whatever came in. But you have all the right winter hats, so I figured you would have been a shoe in.

• 4:25Speaker 01

I'm a man of. Many, many hats.

• 4:27Matt Farah?

Your coats and your hats are bar none.

• 4:30Speaker 01

There did seem to be a lot of fur on display up there.

• 4:33Matt Farah?

I don't think most of it was real, to be fair.

• 4:36Speaker 01

  Oh, that's okay.

• 4:37Matt Farah?

And actually, like, what was really fun about Ice Race costumes is you could either sort of go Richie Rich.

• 4:45Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 4:45Matt Farah?

If you could afford it, you know, I could not, or you could go, you know, sort of the Goodwood Vintage Car theme, which a lot of people did, and the fact that it was a little warmer made that a little easier. Or you could go like, I'm skiing in Aspen in 1988, and it's like neon.

• 5:04Speaker 01

  This is a good look.

• 5:05Matt Farah?

That was a good look, too. I really liked that. So if you didn't have like a huge budget, you could go crazy with the 1980s.

• 5:10Speaker 01

Which way were you going? Were you gentleman or were you going more rad wood?

• 5:14Matt Farah?

No, I kept it pretty normal.

• 5:17Speaker 01

  Puffer jacket?

• 5:17Matt Farah?

I have a, I have a cool parka that's like a classic Team Lotus that I got at the Lotus Factory a couple of years ago. There it is. It's a good jacket. It's a good, it's a good green. And actually, my Hannah was stoked on it because she could see me. She could find me really easy.

• 5:34Speaker 01

You could stand out in the crowd.

• 5:35Matt Farah?

You know, everybody was wearing those puffy, blue, fat jackets. You couldn't find anybody. It looks the same in the swag.

• 5:42Speaker 01

Did you have fun out there?

• 5:44Matt Farah?

I really did, dude. I really did. As, you know, contrived and pseudo-commercial and hoity-toity and all of that, I thought it was really, really fun. I really did.

• 5:56Speaker 01

  Fun was had.

• 5:57Matt Farah?

Yeah, it was, it was super fun. It was beautiful, like, it was so many nice people.

• 6:01Speaker 01

And you were there in the Manx?

• 6:03Matt Farah?

Yeah, and the Manx was a good time, like.

• 6:05Speaker 01

  Of course.

• 6:06Matt Farah?

Philip won the weird game. I mean, Philip's Manx. Did you see Philip's Manx?

• 6:09Speaker 01

  No, I see it.

• 6:10Matt Farah?

His was the one that was turned into a snowmobile with skis on the front and treads.

• 6:15Speaker 01

I didn't realize that was his.

• 6:16Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, that was, that's, that's pretty much.

• 6:18Speaker 01

  That's sort of James Bondy.

• 6:20Matt Farah?

It was very much like a, like a Thunderball.

• 6:25Speaker 01

Bad guy toy. I mean, it would make sense that he has a McDaddy Manx, right?

• 6:30Matt Farah?

It's funny that I didn't, oh, he all, I mean, he all, why not?

• 6:33Speaker 01

Why not, if you can, right?

• 6:34Matt Farah?

If you own the company, you must have the weirdest, look at that. I mean, it's just, that's like glorious, dude.

• 6:40Speaker 01

  That is pretty cool.

• 6:41Matt Farah?

  That is, apparently drove weird.

• 6:46Speaker 02

I feel like it's meant for 15 miles per hour, slowy path through the woods, not, not, uh, the turns can't be too tight.

• 6:52Matt Farah?

I think if you were in like six inches of powder snow, it would probably actually drive pretty decent.

• 6:59Speaker 01

Now, I heard they trucked in, was it six, 600 truck fulls of snow? Or was it 60?

• 7:06Matt Farah?

No, so I didn't hear it in terms of trucks. I heard it in terms of gallons.

• 7:13Speaker 01

  How many gallons of snow?

• 7:15Matt Farah?

4.5 million gallons of water to make the track.

• 7:18Speaker 01

  No, no way.

• 7:19Matt Farah?

  Yeah, it was a lot.

• 7:20Speaker 01

  4.5 million gallons of water.

• 7:22Matt Farah?

I say that it's a lot. Meanwhile, I don't know how much it takes to make a ski slope. I don't know how much it takes to keep a golf course alive. Maybe that's a lot, maybe it's not, but it sounds like a fucking lot.

• 7:32Speaker 01

It sounds like a lot of hydration.

• 7:33Matt Farah?

It sounds like a lot. And, uh, I mean, look, if you just look at the background of this photo, like, obviously there isn't enough snow. That whole back mountain should be sheer white and it isn't, so.

• 7:42Speaker 01

I mean, the car parks that I saw were concrete, right?

• 7:45Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so, I mean, it was, ultimately, the, uh, the, uh, the track lasted long enough. It did, it did last.

• 7:52Speaker 01

Did what it needed to do.

• 7:53Matt Farah?

The fact that it was warm meant like it was very pleasant.

• 7:56Speaker 01

  Got it.

• 7:56Matt Farah?

To be day drinking outdoors, you know, when you weren't, uh, driving.

• 8:00Speaker 01

What's the alternative? You gotta go to Canada or something?

• 8:02Matt Farah?

  Well, yeah, or Austria.

• 8:04Speaker 01

  Yeah, Iceland.

• 8:05Matt Farah?

I mean, there's like, what, for, for ice racing?

• 8:07Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 8:08Matt Farah?

I think they do in, yeah, Scandinavia, they do it, but, um, and this wasn't like serious. This was like a caricature of ice racing, kind of.

• 8:16Speaker 01

  I get it.

• 8:17Matt Farah?

Real ice racing is like beat up Subarus.

• 8:20Speaker 01

  Correct, yeah.

• 8:21Matt Farah?

  Nobody's really watching.

• 8:22Speaker 01

800 horsepower Volvo drift wagons, like, got the boot.

• 8:26Matt Farah?

Yep. Or, I mean, or even like, we went to like an actual sanctioned ice race and it was like non-turbo Subaru Impreza Ls on like 7mm spikes.

• 8:36Speaker 01

  Where was that at?

• 8:37Matt Farah?

  Uh, Lake George, New York.

• 8:39Speaker 01

  Okay, okay.

• 8:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 8:40Speaker 02

There's another event we just learned about that happens two weeks before this one in Montana called The Frost and the Furious.

• 8:46Speaker 01

  Oh, oh, I like that.

• 8:47Speaker 02

There's actually, there's some nice Porsche stuff there, like there's, but you can also just enter whatever for like 500 bucks for the weekend.

• 8:52Matt Farah?

Was that, did that event spring up because Fat Ice Race was announced as coming to Montana? Or was that event happening already?

• 9:01Speaker 02

Good question. There were some carryover cars.

• 9:03Matt Farah?

  Some people went to both.

• 9:05Speaker 02

So it was the, it was the first one.

• 9:07Matt Farah?

  Yeah, the first one, so.

• 9:08Speaker 02

  Maybe.

• 9:08Matt Farah?

I, I can't help but think that it was a more affordable alternative to, to Fat Ice Race.

• 9:17Speaker 01

  I mean.

• 9:17Matt Farah?

  I think it's great.

• 9:18Speaker 01

Did anyone buy a ticket? Because the people I know that were buying tickets said it was kind of expensive. Like it was a couple of grand for a ticket.

• 9:25Matt Farah?

Uh, a GA ticket was like 300 bucks. A VIP ticket was three grand.

• 9:30Speaker 01

  Wow, wow.

• 9:31Matt Farah?

  But you.

• 9:31Speaker 01

What, what did you get for the VIP?

• 9:33Matt Farah?

  A lot, so.

• 9:35Speaker 01

  Some swag and some fur?

• 9:36Matt Farah?

No, no, look, it was, it was unlimited food and in my opinion, the food was better than what you'd get at like Quail. And unlimited booze for all day, both days. VIP section, which had a full like indoor area if it happened to be really cold with the huge TVs and the full bar and all the spreads, better bathrooms. I mean, it was, it was expensive, but like compared to, you know, divided in half because it's one day for half that for Quail. I think you got, I think this was a better use of that same money than going to the Quail.

• 10:12Speaker 01

So what I'm hearing is, is Quail on ice?

• 10:15Matt Farah?

It's smaller. It's like Quail like 10 years ago.

• 10:18Speaker 01

  Got it.

• 10:18Matt Farah?

Like, like old, it's an old fucking Quail on ice.

• 10:22Speaker 02

There's one VIP tent, not four or five.

• 10:24Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, if there's four or five VIP tents, are they really VIPs?

• 10:29Speaker 02

  International food.

• 10:30Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 10:31Speaker 02

  Kind of trip.

• 10:32Matt Farah?

And it was, I just thought it was a good time, like hanging out with friends in a cool scenery with, with a semblance of motorsport happening in the background is like a good time.

• 10:40Speaker 01

Assemblance of motorsport. Did you fly from there to the Aston Martin thing?

• 10:43Matt Farah?

  No, I came home first.

• 10:44Speaker 01

  Oh, you came home.

• 10:45Matt Farah?

I was home for like a half a day.

• 10:48Speaker 01

So you did the Aston thing first?

• 10:49Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, we did the Aston thing here, second. I got home last night from that.

• 10:53Speaker 01

Okay, wow, wow, wow. So you came back here, then went back to Europe?

• 10:57Matt Farah?

Yeah, oh my god, it was nuts.

• 10:58Speaker 01

  You're bouncing around.

• 10:59Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 11:00Speaker 01

So how are you feeling, fuzzy?

• 11:01Matt Farah?

A little bit, yeah, it's okay.

• 11:02Speaker 01

Like you're in the Twilight Zone on a Friday?

• 11:04Matt Farah?

No, it's all good, dude. But I want to talk about your, the fucking, the Magnus Walker estate sale while I'm still alive.

• 11:11Speaker 01

  Yeah, the estate sale.

• 11:12Matt Farah?

No, I mean, it's kind of crazy, like, usually, like, people have to sell shit on Facebook Marketplace or whatever, they don't, they don't get to go to Sotheby's. How does that feel? That your shit goes to RM?

• 11:24Speaker 01

You know, these choices, right? Could have gone to Craigslist. I mean, I've been letting things go quietly over the past few years that people don't know about. I'm in my letting things go phase. You know, I'm sure you've thought about spring cleaning your closet or your garage, right? And you put it off, you put it off, and finally you go in and you just start throwing stuff behind you.

• 11:45Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 11:46Speaker 01

And then there's a moment when you look at the pile and you go, should I get rid of that? And then the smart part of your brain goes, just throw it in the black plastic bag and take it to Goodwill.

• 11:53Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 11:54Speaker 01

Have you been, have you been there?

• 11:55Matt Farah?

  I have.

• 11:56Speaker 01

So that's where I'm at. You know, it's taken time for me to get to this point of letting things go. And it's sort of a decluttering of my soul, my mind, the space, literally creating space for other things to come in. First of all, I'm not selling everything. I'm selling 18 cars and keeping 15, so people think I'm selling everything. That's not the case, I'm keeping...

• 12:18Matt Farah?

That is more than 50%, though.

• 12:20Speaker 01

Yeah, if you do the math, 18 are being sold, 15 are being kept, so...

• 12:24Matt Farah?

  More than half.

• 12:25Speaker 01

  Yeah, maybe it's 60%.

• 12:26Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 12:27Speaker 01

And it's things that, you know, I've owned and amassed, going back to 2008, 9, 10, so 15 to 20 years, I've owned some of these cars.

• 12:36Matt Farah?

• 16:30Speaker 01

And I'm a goal-oriented collector. So these things, you know, scratch this itch of experiencing diversity within Porsche.

• 16:39Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 16:40Speaker 01

Some of them you click more than others, you know. Some of them are mildly modified, some of them are not modified at all, some of them are more significant. Ultimately, the ones that I feel really connected to are the ones that I'm keeping. And the ones that I'm letting go are the ones, interestingly...

• 16:55Matt Farah?

I really like the blue turbo.

• 16:57Speaker 01

  The blue turbo is gorgeous.

• 16:59Matt Farah?

I associate that car pretty closely with you.

• 17:01Speaker 01

Yeah, the blue turbo, it's my Subaru special, as you can see in Subi colors. That car is pretty unique. I acquired that in 2013. That is the original first set of outlaw wheels. Click on that. So that's the car we debuted the outlaw wheel on in 2014, and that's... The very first set of outlaw wheels ever made. But at one time I owned seven three liter turbos.

• 17:22Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 17:23Speaker 01

I was acquiring them when they were really affordable. And no two do the same thing, the same way. They're all same but different. You know, and this one's nice. It's rowdy, but I'm keeping the other seventy six, which is the first US production turbo sold.

• 17:36Matt Farah?

  Which color? Is that the?

• 17:37Speaker 01

Silver. The first one I bought is the first US production turbo ever sold. Looks just like that, but it's silver. But that one's a Euro turbo sunroof delete. It's got a rally late hooligan exhaust on it. With it being a Euro turbo, it's a little bit more power.

• 17:52Matt Farah?

It's a good color combo though. I mean, I really, I really just like that, that. Early, they, I'm not personally into early turbos. I don't even really like any of the turbos, except until you get to like eighty nine with a five speed. They're just not my vibe. Mainly because of the four speeds gearbox. But, uh, but this one, the color combo brings me around.

• 18:13Speaker 01

This is interesting because it's been repainted in a slightly different shade of the original Minerva blue. But it's a Swiss delivery car with a white interior. So you go Swiss is normally sort of reserved, right? You know, in today's world, those are not the original seats, but I changed those because the original white seats were just too much. But if you think about today's world of, if you scroll through the photos a bit, about people getting all excited about paint to sample color combos. You know, this Minerva blue with a white interior is kind of an oddball color for a generation when paint to sample wasn't the big deal that it is now.

• 18:49Matt Farah?

A full white interior in seventy six.

• 18:52Speaker 01

  In Switzerland.

• 18:53Matt Farah?

In Switzerland. Means cocaine and skiing. Just well skiing.

• 18:57Speaker 01

I mean, this is the fat ice, fat ice race car circuit nineteen seventy six.

• 19:01Matt Farah?

  This would be, this.

• 19:02Speaker 02

  Oh, that's awesome.

• 19:03Matt Farah?

This is, uh, yeah, I like this one.

• 19:05Speaker 01

I mean, the interesting thing about.

• 19:06Matt Farah?

Do you have the white seats? Does it come with the white seats?

• 19:08Speaker 01

I have the white seats. The interesting thing about this car though is if you go to that shot on the Sixth Street Bridge, one of my favorite Larry Chan shots right there. Or the one, one next to it. That's actually a shot from 2014 when we debuted the wheels.

• 19:21Matt Farah?

  OG Larry Chen, too.

• 19:23Speaker 01

Well, that's the old six street bridge, not even the new one.

• 19:25Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 19:26Speaker 01

But that car to me doesn't look 50 years old. It's like a timeless silhouette.

• 19:32Matt Farah?

Yeah. I mean, it helps that like, that's sort of the beginning of the bumper style that went on for the next, you know, 13 years.

• 19:40Speaker 01

Yeah, that G body, you know, the turbo came out in 75. I used to have two of those and continued to 89 and didn't really look any different, other than people getting excited about, oh, it's got a five speed.

• 19:50Matt Farah?

I did. The ones I drove in 89 with the five speed, I was like, oh, this is my shit right here.

• 19:55Speaker 01

I mean, the Achilles' heel with these early cars is, as you know, tall gear ratios.

• 19:59Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 19:59Speaker 01

  First gear is 50, second's like 90, third's 120.

• 20:02Matt Farah?

And for, and for me personally, uh, something, uh, pardon the pun, grinds my gears about downshifting to first.

• 20:12Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah. You gotta do that all the time in that car.

• 20:15Matt Farah?

  It's fucking weird, man.

• 20:16Speaker 01

In any other 911, you're rolling into a turn at 20 in second, let's say, blip the throttle, give it a bit of gas, clutch in and away you go. In this, you gotta go to first gear.

• 20:26Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 20:26Speaker 01

So you gotta recalibrate all your driving style. So imagine you're on the freeway doing 60 and you happen to be in fourth, right? Uh, like 2,000 RPM, miles away from any boost.

• 20:37Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 20:39Speaker 01

In the 930, what you gotta do is you go to second gear.

• 20:43Matt Farah?

  On the freeway?

• 20:44Speaker 01

At 60. Now, does that seem awkward?

• 20:46Matt Farah?

  Yes, it's so strange.

• 20:48Speaker 01

If you wanna have any resemblance of acceleration.

• 20:52Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 20:52Speaker 01

You cannot short shift in these cars.

• 20:54Matt Farah?

Alloy roof had this very same conversation in 1985. He went, you know.

• 20:59Speaker 01

Well, he had the five speed.

• 21:00Matt Farah?

This is a big problem. Yeah.

• 21:02Speaker 01

He was way ahead of Porsche there.

• 21:03Matt Farah?

  First did the five speed.

• 21:04Speaker 01

  Right.

• 21:04Matt Farah?

And then the six feet with the yellow bird.

• 21:06Speaker 01

Because it's a gear ratios is the one.

• 21:08Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 21:08Speaker 01

Two, the boost comes on way late and it's a short window of boost.

• 21:12Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 21:12Speaker 01

  They're done at 5,500, like 6,000 RPM, you're done.

• 21:16Matt Farah?

  It's like a diesel.

• 21:16Speaker 01

And then, yeah, and then you sort of factor in inadequate brakes, cause he's a non-power assisted brakes.

• 21:21Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 21:22Speaker 01

  So.

• 21:22Matt Farah?

  They're, they're a handful.

• 21:24Speaker 01

You, you really have to think. If you wanna make, uh, Hayen actually have fun in an early turbo, the key is just don't short shift and look ahead.

• 21:33Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 21:34Speaker 01

  That's the key.

• 21:34Matt Farah?

The motors are like, they'll take the revs though. They're stout.

• 21:38Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, it's interesting that Porsche put a four speed in it because there's plenty of 300 horsepower 911s with a 915.

• 21:44Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 21:45Speaker 01

So it's not as if, uh, this four speed transmission couldn't handle more power.

• 21:49Matt Farah?

  I.

• 21:50Speaker 01

And they do kind of feel heavy and sluggish and tractor light when you're off boost.

• 21:54Matt Farah?

Why did they, was there a, was there a performance decision for it? Why do they?

• 21:59Speaker 01

I think Porsche back in the day thought they were gonna be having transmission issues with this amount of power.

• 22:05Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 22:06Speaker 01

Uh, but obviously that's not really the case.

• 22:10Matt Farah?

Still, that color combo fucking rocks on one of these. And it has like, like.

• 22:15Speaker 01

It's been lowered. It's got a wider wheel on it. Those are eights and nines. You know, the stance is good on that car.

• 22:22Speaker 02

  Yeah, sidewall's great.

• 22:23Matt Farah?

Kind of heavy steering because you got wide wheels and a.

• 22:25Speaker 01

Of course, yeah, you know, and that's a sticky Hoosier.

• 22:27Matt Farah?

Smaller steering wheel. It's probably had a real big steering wheel on it back in the day.

• 22:31Speaker 01

That's got a 350 millimeter steering wheel on it.

• 22:33Matt Farah?

What's your, is that your preferred diameter for 911s? You put that on all of them?

• 22:38Speaker 01

Pretty much because that's sort of the momo protipo. Like to me, 370 is too big. And you want something like a mod 7 is the perfect wheel because it's got the dish on it. Or you gotta put a hub extender on it to get the wheel away from the dash.

• 22:50Matt Farah?

The mod 7 is just the prototipo with like a bit of offset deep dish, right?

• 22:55Speaker 01

  Exactly.

• 22:56Matt Farah?

Is that what's on this one? I think that's what's on this one.

• 22:57Speaker 01

Go back and see what's on it.

• 22:59Matt Farah?

I think I did the prototipo with the offset hub.

• 23:04Speaker 01

Yeah, that's the way to go with the space.

• 23:06Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 23:07Speaker 01

So the 18 cars break down to eight 911s, two parts cars, and then eight transaxle cars.

• 23:15Matt Farah?

All right. You getting rid, do you keeping any transaxle cars?

• 23:17Speaker 01

I'm keeping my 924 Carrera GT.

• 23:19Matt Farah?

  Okay, that's a good one.

• 23:20Speaker 01

I'm keeping my first 928, which is a 78. So I'm keeping cars that are significant to me.

• 23:27Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 23:28Speaker 01

  I'm keeping the art cars, the 964, 993, 277, 914.

• 23:33Matt Farah?

Okay. Oh yeah, that's the offset wheel.

• 23:35Speaker 01

  Yeah, that's mod 7.

• 23:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah. Good, good choice. Um.

• 23:40Matt Farah?

  Is

• 23:42Matt Farah?

would you do you do you say never say never do you say permanent collection about it only just the two seven seven right yeah

• 23:49Speaker 01

definitely maybe never say never I mean for me you know it's when I look at this wall part of one of the things I've realized is if you go up I've got a lot of silver cars you know if you look here one two three go down four yeah five I think these six silver cars like how did I end up with all these silver cars you know so now I'm starting to look for you know you let things go and I'm already thinking you know I've never owned a three five six you know I always used to joke I wasn't cool enough for three five six

• 24:20Matt Farah?

you probably should have that I think you could so this is a possible upward consolidation

• 24:25Speaker 01

I don't even know what upward consolidation means

• 24:26Matt Farah?

that's when you sell fucking eighteen cars and buy one super banger

• 24:31Speaker 01

no no no no it's never gonna be that you know I'm still the bargain hunter

• 24:36Matt Farah?

that's probably how you've ended up with all the silver cars

• 24:38Speaker 01

  sure

• 24:39Matt Farah?

if the price is better than the color that's how you end up with silver cars

• 24:43Speaker 01

I've never chased color I chase cars and if they come in color you know like that nine twenty four turbo click on that one

• 24:51Matt Farah?

  but you also change color

• 24:53Speaker 01

yeah I mean I had my own personality to it but that car's bone stuck the way it left the factory and it's got a Pasha interior

• 25:01Matt Farah?

  I like the Pasha interior

• 25:03Speaker 01

yeah I mean that's sort of a uniquely cool car

• 25:05Matt Farah?

pretty much the only thing I like about a nine twenty four turbo but respect

• 25:09Speaker 01

nine twenty four nine forty four the best of the bunch I've discovered is a nine six eight three liter bigger engine more bottom end less rattly better build quality the end of the era more nine nine three compared to

• 25:21Matt Farah?

yeah they're not they're pretty nice although I drove I you know in Germany when I went on the launch of something they let us drive some classic stuff from their museum and I drove a nine six eight cab and it was a it felt real heavy but I imagine it was probably five hundred pounds heavier than the coupe and I do like a nine six eight though those club sports things are those sweet

• 25:45Speaker 01

one of those rare turbo S's I saw one was cropping up Not a million today.

• 25:50Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 25:51Speaker 01

You know, they claim or someone was hinting around that that, I guess he made 15 of them, the Turbo S. Was estimated a million bucks.

• 25:58Matt Farah?

Get the fuck out of here. No thanks.

• 26:00Speaker 01

These are all no reserve. These are all no reserve. So, you know, this could be a bargain.

• 26:05Matt Farah?

  You're going full no reserve?

• 26:06Speaker 01

This is how committed I am to letting things go.

• 26:09Matt Farah?

  I love the no reserve.

• 26:11Speaker 01

When people put a reserve on something, to me, it says, I'll let it go at this price, which means they're not fully committed unless it achieves a certain price.

• 26:21Matt Farah?

I tell people this because we, we help people sell their cars here.

• 26:24Speaker 01

  I saw it downstairs.

• 26:25Matt Farah?

Yeah, Dave was down there doing one and we, and we got a, we got a really cool, we got actually a few going right now. We, I, people are always like, what should I do for reserve? What should I do for reserve? And I go, look, if, if, if you put a reserve and the auction ends and it doesn't, we do everything right, but it doesn't hit reserve. Are you happy because you didn't have to take a loan number or are you annoyed?

• 26:47Speaker 01

Right, you didn't let it go.

• 26:48Matt Farah?

Because the car was mentally gone and now it's still here.

• 26:51Speaker 01

  Right.

• 26:51Matt Farah?

Nine times out of 10, they go, I'm annoyed. I go, then let's go no reserve. We're gonna make the, we're gonna get you market price. We're gonna get eyeballs on this thing as best we can and, and you'll get, and the car will be gone.

• 27:02Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, that's how these are. These have got an estimate based on market price.

• 27:07Matt Farah?

  Sure.

• 27:07Speaker 01

So there's sort of a price point out of those 18 cars for everyone, whether it's an entry level, let's say 944 NA or whether it's a GT2. The sort of the spectrum of entry level versus non-entry level.

• 27:20Matt Farah?

I thought, I thought maybe the GT2 996 might be a keeper. That one, that one didn't long-term tickle your fancy?

• 27:28Speaker 01

  I mean.

• 27:29Matt Farah?

Folks, gotta take one more break because support is coming in hot out the microwave from Factor. Somewhere between the first warm weekend and realizing short season is getting close, that yacht awaits. Eating well stops feeling optional. And Factor is how I stopped letting a busy schedule be my excuse. Listen, you've heard on this podcast about my crazy travel and basically every single day that I'm home in between that travel is designed to undo the damage that travel and driving does to my body. Don't get me wrong, I love my life, but it's bad for me. And so when I'm home, I'm pretty hardcore. Factor.

• 28:10Matt Farah?

Really helps. Why? Because my instinct is to make bad decisions. I don't start thinking about food until I get really hungry. And then the options that are available are limited. They're not that healthy. They're annoying to make, etc., etc. When we've got factor in the house, you've got quality functional ingredients, lean proteins, great veggies, whole food ingredients, healthy fats, and you've got it waiting in your fridge. It's been delivered, always fresh, never frozen, right in the microwave, ready in about two minutes, no prep, no stress, no cleanup. So I can have healthy food at the right time of day, crucially, an hour and a half before my workout, not 20 minutes before my workout. So I feel like

• 28:54Matt Farah?

I have to poop the whole time. Hour and a half before my workout, right? That way I'm not freaking out. And then I'm good. Then I feel great while I'm working out. My energy flow throughout the day is correct, and I'm not making poor decisions out of either starvation or panic or whatever, right? And you can do it too. It's super easy. We've got a great deal for you. Head over to factormeals.com/tire50off and use code tire50off to get 50% off and free breakfast for a year. And that's five zero, right? Factormeals.com/tire50off

• 29:34Matt Farah?

and use code tire50off to get 50% off and free breakfast for a year. Offer only valid for new factor customers with code and qualifying auto renewing subscription purchase. Make healthier eating easy with factor.

• 29:49Speaker 01

It's almost good of that car because I think what it is, is it's too nice for me.

• 29:54Matt Farah?

  Sure.

• 29:55Speaker 01

It's in too good a condition. It's a lifelong LA car. I'm the third owner. It had never been out of LA, other than the wheels that are on it, which are not stuck. It's all original. I've never modified it. The interesting thing about this car is 25 years ago, this was King of the Hill 992 GT2, 454 horsepower.

• 30:16Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 30:16Speaker 01

Yeah, 996 GT2. Porsche for the USA, they only made 184 of them.

• 30:22Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 30:23Speaker 01

  184. There's more Carrera GTs out there than GT2s. But for some reason, you know, it's a great daily. And what's staggering to me is 454 horsepower, two-wheel drive, manual, right? Today, you can get a 992.2 C2 manual with about the same horsepower, right?

• 30:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 30:41Speaker 01

Which is one step above entry level in the Porsche world range of flavor.

• 30:47Matt Farah?

But in a car that's probably 400 pounds heavier and, uh, and with more sophisticated electronics.

• 30:53Speaker 01

  Correct.

• 30:54Matt Farah?

These things are pretty raw dog. Yeah, these, these things rip.

• 30:57Speaker 02

I'm surprised at the estimate. The estimate for this auction is like 125 to 150 and I just think like

• 31:02Matt Farah?

  That seems low.

• 31:03Speaker 02

That seems low for how rare it is.

• 31:04Matt Farah?

Does it have a lot of miles on it?

• 31:05Speaker 01

It's got 90,000 miles on it.

• 31:06Matt Farah?

Oh, that's why. I mean, that's like, not that that's like, you know, that just affects it, but I love that it's black tan.

• 31:13Speaker 01

Well, if, if you look at the interior, that peanut butter leather interior.

• 31:16Matt Farah?

  Yeah, it's fabulous.

• 31:16Speaker 01

Every single thing, the CD cover vents, the AC vents, even, check out the headliner.

• 31:23Matt Farah?

  A headliner, wow.

• 31:25Speaker 01

  Leather.

• 31:25Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 31:26Speaker 01

Everything on that car is leather interior. So it's actually a pretty well optioned three owner car.

• 31:32Matt Farah?

It's a really cool car. I mean, look, if someone, the, the good thing about this is, I mean, I, you're lucky, lucky you because of the car's connection to you now. And it happens to be a super cool combo. Like the, the, the story outweighs the mileage and you could get a relative bargain.

• 31:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 31:53Matt Farah?

You know, compared to some museum grade thing.

• 31:56Speaker 01

I mean, to me, mileage is irrelevant. The perfect example is a car I drove here, almost 206,000 miles. I think it's a 205 88 six or something. And I bought that with 159,000 miles on it. So to me, the value is on a high mileage car because the majority of people don't want a high mileage car.

• 32:15Matt Farah?

And usually if one of these gets to high mileage, it's because a fastidious owner is, you're not buying a fucking GT2.

• 32:22Speaker 01

  Look at the Canadian.

• 32:23Matt Farah?

And putting 60,000 miles on it without servicing it.

• 32:25Speaker 01

Look at the Canadian guy who's got a million kilometers on his 76 turbo.

• 32:28Matt Farah?

Yeah, I've read that about that guy.

• 32:30Speaker 01

  I've met him.

• 32:30Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 32:31Speaker 01

Million kilometers, by my math, that's like 700,000 miles. So 90,000 miles on this is like nothing.

• 32:38Matt Farah?

The only, I mean, the, I, the doesn't, the powertrain and all that shit doesn't bother me at all. The only thing for me, I have a sensitive fucking back, so I need a good seat.

• 32:48Speaker 01

  Got it.

• 32:48Matt Farah?

I need like a nice newish seat. Otherwise it hurts to drive.

• 32:53Speaker 01

Well, that's what I keep going back to this 991, I'm like a broken record with it. Hannah and I drove it to Denver for Christmas.

• 33:00Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 33:00Speaker 01

That's five states. It's a thousand and fifty miles in one day. We didn't get out of that. The back wasn't aching, knees weren't numb, ears weren't ringing.

• 33:10Matt Farah?

Eighteen ways, they hold up. Eighteen ways are.

• 33:13Speaker 01

I wouldn't want to do that in the nine nine six GT three.

• 33:15Matt Farah?

  Yeah, I know.

• 33:16Speaker 01

  Thousand miles in a day.

• 33:17Matt Farah?

  No.

• 33:18Speaker 01

You kind of feel a little beat up, right?

• 33:19Matt Farah?

  No way.

• 33:20Speaker 01

  So.

• 33:21Matt Farah?

Zach and I did it in, uh, in the, uh, the tar, the nine nine two Turbo S also, and that's, that's all right.

• 33:26Speaker 01

  The new one, the hybrid.

• 33:28Matt Farah?

No, we did it in the one, the dot one, but same seats.

• 33:31Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 33:31Matt Farah?

Great. If you, the dot two, that might as well be a Bentley. That shit is. Have you driven that yet?

• 33:36Speaker 01

  I have.

• 33:37Matt Farah?

  It's, I mean, it's heavy, but as a long.

• 33:39Speaker 01

  It feels heavy.

• 33:40Matt Farah?

But as a road tripper, the suspension is fabulous.

• 33:43Speaker 01

The Turbo S is the Swiss Army knife of all nine eleven's. I really think it's all you need.

• 33:48Matt Farah?

But the new one is heavy.

• 33:50Speaker 01

They all seem pretty heavy. It's like, I can get out of my nine nine one as much as I love it, and then I get in something like this.

• 33:56Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 33:56Speaker 01

And it's really apparent how heavy that is.

• 33:59Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 33:59Speaker 01

  So.

• 34:00Matt Farah?

You just have to go back. You go backwards from any nine eleven to any previous nine eleven, you go, oh, they've gotten heavy.

• 34:05Speaker 01

Yeah, and well, you go back to this generation, nine nine six, and they look really compact.

• 34:10Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 34:11Speaker 01

Like, you look at nine nine ones now, nine nine twos, GT twos, GT threes. The big, wide, bulky, big wings, big diffusers, splitters, aero, all this stuff that doesn't make you any faster on the street. Right? Where most of them spend their time.

• 34:25Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 34:25Speaker 01

And then you go to this, and it comes back to, well, the road determines the ultimate speed, right?

• 34:31Matt Farah?

I mean, ish for, yeah, for most cars, for, there, there is a, there is like a moral, and you know, be general limit of what you should be doing on the street in anything.

• 34:42Speaker 01

My point being is, four hundred and fifty-four horsepower here in the GT two versus seven hundred and one.

• 34:47Matt Farah?

No, you're not going much faster in the new car on the road.

• 34:50Speaker 01

If the new car's got fifty percent more power, it's not going fifty percent quicker on the road.

• 34:54Matt Farah?

  No, no, no, certainly not.

• 34:55Speaker 01

  Maybe ten, fifteen, twenty max.

• 34:57Matt Farah?

It's probably, what, what is the, uh, what was the Nürburgring time of this?

• 35:02Speaker 01

  GT two?

• 35:02Matt Farah?

Yeah, I mean, I'm sure it was something very impressive for two thousand and two.

• 35:06Speaker 01

Yeah, like it came in GT four all spanking.

• 35:08Matt Farah?

Yeah, it must have been, it must have been like mid sevens, maybe, like.

• 35:12Speaker 01

It's great how we all go back to the benchmark of the ring, right? As, as a lap time this.

• 35:17Matt Farah?

Well, because I know the new Turbo S is, I think, a seven oh four. 704 or 714. I think it's 704 is the new Turbo S. But I'm curious how much faster it is than this. It's got-

• 35:28Speaker 02

  I think this was 746.

• 35:30Matt Farah?

  Yeah, that sounds right.

• 35:32Speaker 01

This might have been exciting when they broke eight minutes.

• 35:34Matt Farah?

  Oh, I'm sure it was.

• 35:36Speaker 02

The new G2 RS beat this by a full minute.

• 35:39Matt Farah?

  Wow.

• 35:40Speaker 01

What did the 918 do at the Nürburgring?

• 35:43Matt Farah?

Oh, I think the 918 was the first car to ever go under seven. I think it was 657.

• 35:49Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 35:49Speaker 01

Wow, that's quick. What did Carrera GT do?

• 35:52Matt Farah?

I just reviewed that car recently. Carrera GT was set like 720 or something like that. But I think someone recently did a Carrera GT.

• 36:00Speaker 02

  712.

• 36:01Matt Farah?

Someone recently did a Carrera GT on the brand new tire.

• 36:05Speaker 02

Oh, sorry. 712 was the new record with Jorg driving on new tires.

• 36:08Speaker 01

The new record on the 99?

• 36:10Matt Farah?

  On the Carrera GT.

• 36:11Speaker 01

  Okay, okay.

• 36:12Matt Farah?

Yeah, Jorg Bergmeister Carrera GT, new tires.

• 36:14Speaker 02

Back in the day, it did 728.

• 36:17Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 36:17Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 36:18Speaker 02

So, a little faster than this, but not much.

• 36:19Matt Farah?

  Dude, tires. 728 to 712.

• 36:23Speaker 01

  That's a big difference.

• 36:23Matt Farah?

That's a big difference. But, you know, I agree that for all the differences on the track, most of them don't come into play on the road.

• 36:35Speaker 01

  Correct.

• 36:35Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 36:36Speaker 01

And most of these cars, though, spend the majority of their time here, I think, on the street.

• 36:40Matt Farah?

Sure. And I saw you comment that on my GT3 RS post. They still don't- you know, neither of us love that as a street car.

• 36:47Speaker 01

No, that's a classic case of me of too much of a race car for the street.

• 36:50Matt Farah?

Yeah. But you know what? You go out to the fucking, those private racetracks, you go to Thermo, them guys love those things. They even, they love them because they want their track car to feel familiar like a street car.

• 37:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 37:04Matt Farah?

Race cars, even for someone like me, when I get to the rare treat to test like someone's like Le Mans car or something, it's a real treat. But that shit, that feels like alien shit. It doesn't-

• 37:15Speaker 01

  Next level.

• 37:16Matt Farah?

When you start driving and you go, okay, pedals and steering wheel and, you know, the rest are just sort of buttons that drop onto the- All right, fine, but like you, it's intimidating to get into a race car. It's a different mindset. Whereas a GT3 RS, even if you're putting the helmet on and going to the track, it's, you know, key,

• 37:31Speaker 01

  Key on the left, bro.

• 37:32Matt Farah?

  Air conditioning.

• 37:33Speaker 01

  Sun knob.

• 37:35Matt Farah?

Yeah, you know, and then, and then, you know, you can drive it into dinner.

• 37:39Speaker 01

  It's relatability.

• 37:40Matt Farah?

  Into Palm Springs.

• 37:41Speaker 02

I think there was a set and setting thing, like if you took the GT3 and stripped the interior, and gave it to somebody to track, same exact car, hardware, engine, everything.

• 37:49Matt Farah?

You've just described a club sport.

• 37:50Speaker 02

I bet, well, I mean, no cage, no nothing. I think they would probably get nervous and think, oh, I'm in a different car. It's a special thing, but it's, it's just the interior, like makes them feel like they're at home in a normal vehicle.

• 38:00Matt Farah?

Well, like GT4 club sports, like have factory air conditioning, like the factory key, factory gauge cluster, like they're, they're designed to feel as much as possible like a stock car. And I think that's about as, I mean, that or like a, even a Miata's got a sequential now, like even MX5 Cup has a sequential. I think that's probably the most forgiving of the track day, maybe the Mustang, the new Mustang, the Dark Horse.

• 38:31Speaker 01

  GTD?

• 38:32Matt Farah?

No, no, that, well, the GTD is a, is a big, but as far as like race cars, the Dark Horse R is very approachable and friendly. And it's like even easier to set, to do things with than the street car. Like auto rev matching is like a giant toggle switch on off, like it's very, very straightforward. It's kind of racing with that, it's kind of all right. Anyway.

• 38:57Speaker 01

  Dark Horse, Mustang.

• 39:00Matt Farah?

What was the last Mustang you drove?

• 39:02Speaker 01

  Oh, boy, I don't remember.

• 39:04Matt Farah?

Hannah didn't bring home a GTD for work?

• 39:07Speaker 01

No, she hadn't had one yet.

• 39:08Matt Farah?

  Oh, I'm surprised.

• 39:09Speaker 01

And we've been around, you know, my, my buddy Cam Ingram's racing with Ford Mustang, with Jim Foley, actually.

• 39:16Matt Farah?

  That's Dark Horse R.

• 39:17Speaker 01

  Yeah, he's racing that.

• 39:18Matt Farah?

  That's what they're driving.

• 39:19Speaker 01

Yeah, and he loves it, you know, completely different to when he's, you know, going up Pike's Peak in his Porsche.

• 39:24Matt Farah?

Yeah, but there, that, I actually drove Jim's Dark Horse. For road and track, I drove his personal car. It's incredibly friendly.

• 39:32Speaker 01

He seems a very, very cool, down to earth dude.

• 39:36Matt Farah?

  Oh, Jim?

• 39:36Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 39:37Matt Farah?

Yeah, he is. I meant the car, but also Jim is.

• 39:39Speaker 01

  But as a person, he's, he's, he's pretty approachable.

• 39:42Matt Farah?

  He's pretty mellow.

• 39:43Speaker 01

  Yeah, he seems pretty mellow.

• 39:44Matt Farah?

You know, we were just at, at, obviously at Ice Race and we went to Rivian's, um, party. And, you know, no judgment, just pure facts. Um, RJ Scaringe, the CEO of, had like, private security with him at the party. And I was like, okay, like, whatever. But like, Jim, Jim doesn't. Like, we were, I was at a thing with Jim where for like hours that the public could just get into. Like, if he did, they were the most invisible security I've ever, I've ever seen. But I, I don't think he did.

• 40:14Speaker 01

  I guess Rivian's at a different level.

• 40:16Matt Farah?

  I don't know.

• 40:17Speaker 01

A lot of fanboys out there, right?

• 40:18Matt Farah?

  I don't know. It seemed a little.

• 40:19Speaker 02

A lot of Tesla people are upset.

• 40:20Matt Farah?

I'm not, I'm not talking shit. I hope they don't get mad at me saying that, but like, it was real obvious. Like, I thought that was like a little odd.

• 40:27Speaker 01

What was his security wearing? The fat jacket or were they in fur or, or just the?

• 40:30Matt Farah?

  No, it was, you know.

• 40:32Speaker 01

  FBI style earpiece?

• 40:33Speaker 02

No, it was like athletic wear.

• 40:35Matt Farah?

  Turtleneck, athletic wear.

• 40:37Speaker 01

Athletic wear. So they're in Lycra? Is that what you're saying?

• 40:40Matt Farah?

  No, no.

• 40:41Speaker 02

Fitted clothes, but like, I wouldn't fuck with these.

• 40:43Matt Farah?

  Yeah, fanny pack, earpiece.

• 40:44Speaker 01

  Oh, fanny packing earpiece.

• 40:45Matt Farah?

  Fanny pack, earpiece.

• 40:46Speaker 01

That's, that's pretty good luck. So what are you off to next?

• 40:50Matt Farah?

  We're going sailing, bro.

• 40:51Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 40:51Speaker 01

  This weekend?

• 40:52Matt Farah?

  Yeah, we're leaving Sunday night.

• 40:54Speaker 01

  Where are you going?

• 40:54Matt Farah?

British Virgin Islands. We rented a boat.

• 40:57Speaker 02

  Your old area.

• 40:57Matt Farah?

  We're going sailing.

• 40:58Speaker 01

British Virgin Islands? How, how big of a boat is it? A ship?

• 41:02Matt Farah?

No, it's a 50 foot catamaran. It's us and our ladies and my sister-in-law and our friend Tim.

• 41:09Speaker 01

How long are you on the water for?

• 41:10Matt Farah?

  Nine days.

• 41:12Speaker 01

How far offshore are you going?

• 41:13Matt Farah?

Not that far. It's a small, pretty small grouping of islands.

• 41:16Speaker 01

This is not like one of those reality shows, is it? Below Deck or whatever?

• 41:20Matt Farah?

It's like, it's like a two or three hour sail between each island.

• 41:23Speaker 01

  Okay, okay.

• 41:24Matt Farah?

  Yeah, it's no big deal.

• 41:24Speaker 02

It is the best way to visit a tropical place.

• 41:27Matt Farah?

  Yes.

• 41:27Speaker 02

  Like, period.

• 41:28Matt Farah?

  By far.

• 41:28Speaker 02

You bring a hotel with you.

• 41:30Matt Farah?

But you don't have to unpack every day.

• 41:32Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 41:32Speaker 01

So what are you packing for this trip? I mean, is it Speedos and some blog and a wine shows?

• 41:36Matt Farah?

No, I'm gonna be in the nude. Haven't told everybody yet.

• 41:41Speaker 01

  Free balling, full hanging.

• 41:43Speaker 02

Yeah, he's learning to let things go.

• 41:45Speaker 01

It's a nudist thing. There you go.

• 41:48Matt Farah?

No, it's, I mean, look, I don't know what you would pack for a Caribbean.

• 41:53Speaker 01

We wouldn't, how, how do I have got a no cruise policy, you know?

• 41:57Matt Farah?

This isn't a fucking cruise, bro.

• 41:59Speaker 02

Would you snorkel in the hat, is the question?

• 42:01Matt Farah?

  It's our boat.

• 42:02Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 42:03Matt Farah?

There's no other people on the boat besides us.

• 42:05Speaker 01

If I could snorkel in the hat, I would snorkel in the hat.

• 42:09Speaker 02

You'd need one of the big.

• 42:10Speaker 01

  Like Jacques Cousteau, right?

• 42:11Speaker 02

Yeah, you'd need one of those things, yeah.

• 42:12Matt Farah?

No, the, uh, yeah, I don't know what you would wear on this particular trip, but for me, I'm bringing six bathing suits and a bunch of t-shirts.

• 42:21Speaker 01

  That's quite a lot, six.

• 42:21Matt Farah?

And a pair of fucking non-marking Crocs for my boat shoes. I'm gonna look corny as hell, but.

• 42:27Speaker 01

  Where do you fly to?

• 42:28Matt Farah?

  Tortola.

• 42:29Speaker 01

  Where's that?

• 42:30Matt Farah?

The, it's where the air, the big, it's the biggest island in the British Virgin Islands. It's where like things are. And then all the other islands are like little islands that surround it. And you basically just do a lap.

• 42:42Speaker 01

  So they say decompression time?

• 42:43Matt Farah?

Hell, motherfucking yes, it is. Yeah.

• 42:45Speaker 02

Do vacation early in the year.

• 42:46Speaker 01

  You're going on Sunday?

• 42:47Matt Farah?

Here's, so look, so you start, you start in, uh.

• 42:50Speaker 01

Other islands. I like that one. Other islands.

• 42:52Matt Farah?

And then you circle around all the other islands.

• 42:55Speaker 01

  Other islands.

• 42:56Matt Farah?

Yes, that's literally how it works. Yes. You go to all the other islands.

• 43:00Speaker 01

  Well, send us a postcard.

• 43:02Matt Farah?

It's gonna be, it's gonna be alright.

• 43:03Speaker 01

  That's pretty cool.

• 43:04Matt Farah?

Yeah, where are you going? What is, what are the dates of this auction, by the way?

• 43:08Speaker 01

Uh, March 18th through the 25th.

• 43:10Matt Farah?

  Where?

• 43:11Speaker 01

Uh, RM Sillybee's online. It's an online auction.

• 43:14Matt Farah?

  Oh, alright, cool.

• 43:14Speaker 01

I mean, the only thing that matters is the 25th. Now, if you want some fun, just scroll through and you'll see the parts and memorabilia.

• 43:20Matt Farah?

  Oh, yeah.

• 43:20Speaker 02

  A lot of stuff.

• 43:21Speaker 01

Forget about the cars. So it's 18 cars and 100, well, click on that one, the Urban Outlaw Starter Kit. This might be my favorite.

• 43:28Matt Farah?

Oh, dude, everything you need to start.

• 43:30Speaker 01

  Pretty much.

• 43:31Matt Farah?

911 Sport Purpose Build, some assembly required.

• 43:34Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 43:35Matt Farah?

It's a 68 911L. You get a, a 911S fiberglass front bumper, a 911R styled louver quarter windows. Uh, you get a, a long block, you get a, a gearbox, you get, uh, wheels.

• 43:50Speaker 01

  Mini lights?

• 43:51Matt Farah?

Um, steering wheels, a set of sneakers. Yeah, alright.

• 43:55Speaker 01

  I mean, some.

• 43:56Matt Farah?

Shoes of color and fucking. Assemble.

• 43:58Speaker 01

Yeah, don't even choose a color, just weld on some fenders and leave it as is, kind of like a Harlequin patina car.

• 44:04Matt Farah?

  That's pretty cool.

• 44:05Speaker 01

Build yourself a little hot rod, you know, two liter engine.

• 44:08Speaker 02

Some 22 year olds gonna buy this.

• 44:10Speaker 01

Click on those photos, because this is the one I'm kind of most excited about.

• 44:13Speaker 02

  This is very cool.

• 44:14Speaker 01

Because there's a lot of cool things that go with it right here.

• 44:17Matt Farah?

I like the idea of this. This is pretty rad.

• 44:20Speaker 01

Yeah, no one I don't think has really done something to this level where.

• 44:24Speaker 02

Did you have this, like, had you collected these parts because you intended to build something new?

• 44:28Speaker 01

I kind of had, yeah. You know, I wanted to do a car, and I may still do it, where it was all, you know, I'm known for mismatch color blocking, but it's paint. But you look at that deck lid, and you look at that front hood, just click on one of those close-ups of the front hood, and you go, wow, this has got such great patina.

• 44:44Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 44:45Speaker 01

  You can't really duplicate that.

• 44:46Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 44:47Speaker 01

So the goal here would just be like a Harlequin parts car that fit this 60s era.

• 44:53Matt Farah?

  You drove a Marcos.

• 44:54Speaker 02

Yeah, this has a lot more colors, but yeah.

• 44:56Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 44:57Speaker 01

  So.

• 44:57Matt Farah?

  That's pretty cool.

• 44:58Speaker 01

That's one fun little thing, and then I'm letting go 144 lots of parts and memorabilia. So that is everything from bumpers to fenders to doors to gauges to steering wheels.

• 45:08Matt Farah?

What is the most, the most unique and cool individual item of memorabilia or parts?

• 45:14Speaker 01

Scroll down, keep scrolling, we'll see. There's a Red Bull fridge, which is kind of cool. That's pretty cool. That right there, the 919 Evo Hybrid Limited Edition model.

• 45:24Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 45:24Speaker 01

So that's a, click on that, that's a big scale. Porsche made 500 of those, and that's number 277.

• 45:29Speaker 02

Is this the newest car you own?

• 45:32Speaker 01

It's the newest model I own. You know, that was a gift from Porsche Motorsports, so that's kind of unique. Uh, you know, there's a GT3 RS piston that's kind of unique.

• 45:41Matt Farah?

I do like the Red Bull fridge.

• 45:43Speaker 01

Click on the Red Bull fridge.

• 45:44Matt Farah?

I like the, the Red Bull fridge, it looks like a gas pump.

• 45:48Speaker 01

Yeah, the Red Bull fridge is kind of cool.

• 45:49Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 45:50Speaker 01

You know, all this stuff, like I say, is no reserve, so I'm sort of spring cleaning.

• 45:55Matt Farah?

  Five dollars on that.

• 45:55Speaker 01

  Well, there you go.

• 45:56Matt Farah?

For sure. I'm gonna get a bid and keep, like, keep going. You got some signs, you got some helmets.

• 46:00Speaker 01

  Steering wheels.

• 46:01Matt Farah?

  Bunch of steering wheels.

• 46:01Speaker 01

  Yeah, keep going.

• 46:02Matt Farah?

All right, I like, I like a lot of steering wheels, street lights, we got car, we got random assortments.

• 46:07Speaker 01

  Pistons and cylinders.

• 46:09Matt Farah?

Wristwatch collection, pair of driving gloves, alright.

• 46:13Speaker 01

  You know, suspension components.

• 46:15Matt Farah?

  Sure.

• 46:15Speaker 01

  Little bunch of stuff there.

• 46:17Matt Farah?

God, you got a lot of shit.

• 46:18Speaker 02

Was this all somewhere in your downtown spot, or was like, did you have a container somewhere?

• 46:23Speaker 01

No, I had like a 40 foot pallet rack that went 12 feet high, that I would just stash stuff on.

• 46:29Speaker 02

  Dude, you're at Costco.

• 46:30Speaker 01

So sort of having space is a blessing and a curse, because you end up sort of just storing stuff.

• 46:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 46:36Speaker 01

So, this is a cleansing thing for me, you know.

• 46:39Matt Farah?

Yeah, what do you need any of this shit for?

• 46:41Speaker 01

Well, that's kinda where I'm at. That's kinda where I'm at.

• 46:44Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 46:44Speaker 01

RM Sotheby's had six guys for seven days, split into three teams. One was parts, one was memorabilia, the cars were the easy bit. But here's the funny part to the story, so I'd been having this stuff in storage on this pallet rack, 40 feet long for maybe 25 years. And they came in and they said, okay, we're gonna start making piles. Stuff that we're gonna sell.

• 47:06Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 47:06Speaker 01

Stuff that we can scrap, like for some reason I'm keeping those old brake rotors. Like somehow I'm gonna use them.

• 47:12Matt Farah?

  The ones you've taken off.

• 47:13Speaker 01

Yeah, the ones I've taken off that are used. I'm not throwing them away. So there's a pile of scrap metal.

• 47:18Matt Farah?

It's a fine line between collecting and hoarding.

• 47:20Speaker 01

This is the fun part to the story. So I ended up with one van full of scrap, which is old exhausts that are rusted out, mufflers and headers and calipers and stuff like that. So I take that to the scrapyard and it's five cents a pound.

• 47:34Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 47:34Speaker 01

So for a van full of scrap, I got $136.

• 47:37Matt Farah?

  Alright.

• 47:38Speaker 01

Then I had two vans full of old carpet, rubber mats, old door weather trim, and things that I thought I was gonna use.

• 47:46Matt Farah?

  Asbestos.

• 47:47Speaker 01

Yeah, of course, leg paint and stuff like that. So those two vans full of junk, I had to pay to dump at the landfill. That cost me 200 bucks to dump them, so I'm already like, you know.

• 47:59Speaker 02

  So you're down $63.

• 48:00Speaker 01

  I'm down $64 already.

• 48:02Matt Farah?

Dude, when we dug the basement for this building and you had to, we had to like pay to get rid of the dirt and stuff like that. Oh my god.

• 48:11Speaker 01

  So yeah, that's.

• 48:11Matt Farah?

How many steering wheels do you have? Jesus fuck.

• 48:14Speaker 01

  There's like forty of them.

• 48:15Matt Farah?

  Fifty steering wheels.

• 48:18Speaker 01

Into, you know, various lots, you know, they're all sort of seventies and eighties Momo steering wheels.

• 48:24Speaker 02

I mean, the fact, you have enough steering wheels that you can't sell them one at a time. You're selling them in batches.

• 48:29Speaker 01

Yeah. And these are no reserve.

• 48:31Matt Farah?

Did these all come on donor cars and you just took them off?

• 48:34Speaker 01

Pretty much. Yeah, you know, I've got my own Momo steering wheel. I like the mod seven. A lot of these would have like a Momo Monte Carlo with the thumb grip, which I don't like.

• 48:42Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 48:42Speaker 01

  So it's just a.

• 48:43Matt Farah?

Yeah, I'm not about the Monte Carlo.

• 48:45Speaker 01

  Combination and then long blocks.

• 48:47Matt Farah?

Now you've got carbs and long blocks.

• 48:49Speaker 01

MFI pumps and carburetors and, you know, there's a little bit of something for everyone here.

• 48:54Matt Farah?

Ooh, Bosch MFI pump. I've been looking for one of those.

• 48:58Speaker 01

Click on that because the photos are pretty cool.

• 49:00Matt Farah?

Yeah, whoever did your, your photos for these, these is the RM guys. They are, they're pretty nice looking photos. They, you're, well, it doesn't hurt that your fucking business was like locations for shoots.

• 49:12Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, it's kind of photogenic, but you've got to remember, I'm the guy that never had an infantry. I didn't know what I had on this shelf.

• 49:19Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 49:20Speaker 01

And everywhere else. So they had to build these lots, make an infantry, assign a lot number. It took a long time.

• 49:26Matt Farah?

Plus your building is also for sale and you gotta get this shit out of there.

• 49:30Speaker 01

  Took it off the market.

• 49:30Matt Farah?

  Oh, you did?

• 49:31Speaker 01

I took it off the market. So, and that, that'll be next. You know, I've got this hundred and twenty five year old building that's twenty six thousand square feet that, you know, if, if I, if I don't need it for thirty or forty cars, I really don't need it for fifteen.

• 49:44Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 49:44Speaker 01

But time will tell as to where I'm going and, you know, I've been here before though. I've been in this position when I closed Serious Clothing down.

• 49:52Matt Farah?

  So many seats. Yeah, yeah.

• 49:53Speaker 01

  So.

• 49:54Matt Farah?

You, did you, did you, what, like, was this, was this exactly the same process?

• 49:58Speaker 01

It's the same thing. I closed Serious Clothing down, which is my wholesale clothing company, retail stores as well in two thousand and eleven. But I really should have closed it down in two thousand and eight. I've lost passion for it. Things were sort of not what they used to be. And at that time, I didn't know what was gonna come next, but I knew through the film location business, I had a security blanket of I want to be able to pay the mortgage. What came next, though, was Demi Muschavich's film Urban Outlaw that came out in 2012. So the past fifteen years of my life, I've been sort of traveling around doing car-related stuff. If I still had a day job, which was a clothing company with a dozen employees, I would never have had that freedom to go do that. And to me, at that moment in my life,

fifteen years ago, success meant being able to do whatever you want to do when you want to do it. So why am I running this business, which I no longer love, right? And I'm no longer passionate about designing clothing. Ironically, fifteen years later, I've come full circle. I'm sort of going in that direction.

• 50:57Matt Farah?

  Sure.

• 50:57Speaker 01

Because I feel creative in that direction.

• 51:00Matt Farah?

Well, and are you, I mean, and do you feel like you've sort of like hit the wall of Porsche?

• 51:07Speaker 01

I don't know if I've hit the wall, but these things don't mean what they did twenty years ago.

• 51:12Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 51:12Speaker 01

And I'm ready to experience something new. You know, people identify me as various things, you know, crazy hat guy, aren't you Rob Zombie, or you're that Porsche guy, right? Well, in reality, I'm all of those, but that doesn't define who I am. And it's like, when I travel, you travel a lot. I don't have keys on me, you know, I'm not racing back to go drive some of these cars. And at that point, I realize I don't really need them.

• 51:36Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, well, I, Hannah and I.

• 51:38Speaker 01

You seem pretty good at letting things go. You seem to rotate.

• 51:40Matt Farah?

We just have a hard limit, dude.

• 51:42Speaker 01

  Which is what?

• 51:43Matt Farah?

It's like, we've, well, we don't, it's not like we sat down and went, okay, here's gonna be the limit. But we have found over our, the last five, six years, that eight is all with, because with press cars too.

• 51:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 51:57Matt Farah?

  And travel.

• 51:58Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 51:58Matt Farah?

Fucking, forget it. So eight, I mean, that's, like, I understand that eight is extremely gratuitous in the grand scheme of car collecting.

• 52:06Speaker 01

  Eight days a week.

• 52:07Matt Farah?

I know how fucking ridiculous that sounds, but even given the enormous resources that I have to take care of. Of this shit, a literal staff. Eight is two, eight is.

• 52:19Speaker 01

  Right.

• 52:19Matt Farah?

So. If it doesn't get driven for a while.

• 52:22Speaker 01

  Let it go.

• 52:23Matt Farah?

  Fuck, it's gotta go.

• 52:24Speaker 01

It's taking me a long time to get to that point of being comfortable letting it go.

• 52:29Matt Farah?

Well, but for you also, because you bought a bunch of these cars at the right time. And so they have, they have for, for most of this time where you've been. The you that most of us know, you got a, you had a warehouse full of appreciating assets.

• 52:44Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 52:45Matt Farah?

Now they've, they're, you know, still appreciating, but the, in general, many of these cars have leveled off a bit.

• 52:50Speaker 01

  Correct.

• 52:51Matt Farah?

Yeah. So if they're just weighing you down and they're not. Oh, you know, line go up. Yeah. Hell, yeah.

• 52:57Speaker 01

Yeah. I mean, for the value for me was never actually part of it, even though I'm on the right side of it.

• 53:01Matt Farah?

But if you have too many to drive. You can at least go, well, they're increasing in value, so they're worth keeping.

• 53:07Speaker 01

  Sure.

• 53:08Matt Farah?

But if they're not, if that's not happening, now it's like, well, how many can I fit into my calendar anyway?

• 53:13Speaker 01

Yeah. I mean, the garage is pretty tight. There's no room to let other things in, you know? We're currently in our vintage Rolls Royce phase and they.

• 53:18Matt Farah?

  Yeah, I'm saying.

• 53:19Speaker 01

And they take up a lot of room.

• 53:20Matt Farah?

Yeah. Didn't see any Rolls and Jags in there.

• 53:22Speaker 01

We're not selling any Rolls and Jags. We're keeping those.

• 53:25Matt Farah?

  Which can we talk about?

• 53:26Speaker 01

The Super Cat? The Super Cat is coming back. I know you were gonna ask me about it.

• 53:30Matt Farah?

  I wanna drive it.

• 53:31Speaker 01

  We're getting ready.

• 53:32Matt Farah?

I'm so excited to drive it.

• 53:33Speaker 01

I'm still on the program. We're delivering the first customer car.

• 53:36Matt Farah?

  Nice.

• 53:37Speaker 01

Which is gonna be happening in May.

• 53:39Matt Farah?

Is it, oops, sorry. Is it coming to America?

• 53:40Speaker 01

  It's coming to America.

• 53:41Matt Farah?

Hell, yeah. So we know, do I know who's buying it?

• 53:44Speaker 01

I don't know if you do or don't.

• 53:46Matt Farah?

  All right.

• 53:46Speaker 01

But, you know, um. They're working on a right-hand drive version, which will be for England and other places in the world. But that exact car is coming back in May to do all the press drives that it never did 18 months ago.

• 53:58Matt Farah?

  All right, cool.

• 53:59Speaker 01

  So, you know, they.

• 54:00Matt Farah?

Put up a fucking number at Goodwood, didn't it?

• 54:02Speaker 01

This car was sub 56 seconds.

• 54:05Matt Farah?

  Car was fast.

• 54:05Speaker 01

Finished in 11th position. Now, as you know, a lot of people show cars at Goodwood and do parade laps up the hill, right? And don't set times.

• 54:13Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 54:14Speaker 01

You know, people that are manufacturing resto mods. So this was like fan favorite. Imagine a pre-production prototype car that's finishing just outside the top 10 with a sub 56 second run and is fan favorite.

• 54:31Matt Farah?

Yeah, that's like a 1983 fucking Jaguar under there or whatever it is.

• 54:36Speaker 01

  Don't call it a Jag, it's a TWR Supercar.

• 54:38Matt Farah?

  Sorry, sorry.

• 54:39Speaker 01

  You know, 660 horsepower.

• 54:40Matt Farah?

You can't say that. I can't. I'm not the one selling it. I can't get sued.

• 54:44Speaker 01

You're actually gonna love it, I think, because it's rowdy. I mean, just look at this thing.

• 54:49Matt Farah?

  It's a V12, supercharged.

• 54:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 54:52Matt Farah?

Can we get sound, Zach? Hang on. Oh my God.

• 54:58Speaker 01

  Listen to that.

• 54:59Matt Farah?

  It sounds fucking crazy.

• 55:01Speaker 01

People don't expect it's gonna sound like that.

• 55:04Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. Did someone just go, you know that video of the Mercedes with the Zonda exhaust on it? Yeah, just do that.

• 55:11Speaker 01

  We need that.

• 55:12Matt Farah?

  Fuck.

• 55:14Matt Farah?

The fire. You know, I don't think I've sufficiently appreciated the rear angle of that car.

• 55:18Speaker 01

That's one of the best angles ever.

• 55:20Matt Farah?

When it's driving away from you.

• 55:21Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 55:21Matt Farah?

That's the shit right there. Damn.

• 55:26Speaker 01

  I mean, I'm looking forward.

• 55:28Matt Farah?

The rear three quarters it. That's all. That's it right there. Boom. That's how. Look at that.

• 55:32Speaker 01

We will get you behind the wheel of that car in Maine.

• 55:36Matt Farah?

  Crazy, yeah.

• 55:38Speaker 01

Yeah, excited about that. It's their hot shoe guy. I've never met him actually, but he's the one doing all the development shakedown driving.

• 55:45Matt Farah?

  Man, it sounds.

• 55:50Matt Farah?

Sounds kinda like a Diablo, a bit, you know?

• 55:54Speaker 01

I mean, finishing just outside the top 10 is pretty impressive.

• 55:56Matt Farah?

  Oh, yeah.

• 55:57Speaker 01

And a sub 56 second run, when you see what the other cars were doing, is fast.

• 56:01Matt Farah?

Is that a, I mean, obviously off the engine it is, but is that, does that exhaust two collect into one? Or is it dual all the way out the back?

• 56:10Speaker 01

I think it's dual all the way back, but I gotta fact check that.

• 56:12Matt Farah?

I don't know. It sounds like the kinda thing that would have a collector into one. It just fucking rips. That, what a delight.

• 56:19Speaker 01

So, yeah, that's coming back even a little.

• 56:21Matt Farah?

And there's orders on the books and building?

• 56:23Speaker 01

They're making 88 of them. They've allocated probably. Over a third of them already. What's gonna make the difference is when people actually drive it.

• 56:32Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 56:32Speaker 01

Cause at this point, no one's really driven it, other than it going up the hill at Goodwood.

• 56:36Matt Farah?

Well, the one, you know, the, that, I guess it was that one.

• 56:38Speaker 01

  That's the one, right.

• 56:39Matt Farah?

The one that I poked around at, at your house. The inside was cool. It was comfortable. I mean, it, it looks great. I'm super stoked.

• 56:46Speaker 01

I mean, ergonomically, that car is a car you can drive and take, you know, there's plenty of room in it. It's comfortable. It's practical. It's rowdy. It's loud. It's fast. It, it does what it should do.

• 56:55Matt Farah?

You think they'll make a non-supercharged one? Just keep the blowers?

• 57:00Speaker 01

But they're gonna make other things, you know. TWR wasn't just Jag, you know, they did other cars. Maybe they're gonna do an Aston or something like that. Who knows? Whatever happened to your Aston Martin?

• 57:11Matt Farah?

I think they should do a Volvo wagon.

• 57:13Speaker 01

  Well, that'd be good.

• 57:14Matt Farah?

  A fucking eight.

• 57:15Speaker 01

  Eight hundred horsepower, gap bill.

• 57:16Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 57:17Speaker 01

  Wagon.

• 57:18Matt Farah?

Like a touring, cause didn't they do the Volvo touring cars? Like, they should do that. I have my Aston still. It's, it's on the east coast. I drive it when we go, when I go back to these.

• 57:26Speaker 01

That was the one you converted to manual, right?

• 57:27Matt Farah?

Yeah, in 2014. I'm gonna, did I kick the camera into fuck it up? Sorry.

• 57:31Speaker 01

  What year is that Aston?

• 57:32Matt Farah?

  It's an 03. Old vanquish, yeah. It's cool. I'm never getting rid of that. That's a, that's a keeper. That one's a lifer.

• 57:39Speaker 01

What was this new Aston light you drove while you were in embargo?

• 57:42Matt Farah?

I can't talk about it. I'll tell you, I can't talk about it as an embargo until the 30th. I'll tell you off, off, off camera, but you know, it's a million dollar mid-engine thousand horsepower. So, you know, you could, you could probably make a few assumptions, you know. It's, uh, I, what I can tell you is that it is, uh, it's actually quite spectacular looking.

• 58:07Speaker 01

  Most of them are.

• 58:08Matt Farah?

Most, most of them are, but it's not a guarantee.

• 58:10Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 58:11Matt Farah?

Uh, most Astons are, and, and many of the hypercars are, but it's not a guarantee. And, um, it's, uh, it's got some cool tricks of its sleeve.

• 58:21Speaker 01

What's going on with their F1 program? They seem to be having some vibration issues.

• 58:25Speaker 02

  They have a Honda issue.

• 58:26Matt Farah?

Apparently it's not going well over there. Uh, they tried to avoid that subject.

• 58:31Speaker 01

  Of course.

• 58:32Matt Farah?

While we were hanging out. I think it's different people. I don't know.

• 58:35Speaker 01

  Different teams, same name.

• 58:36Matt Farah?

I think it's different teams, yeah. I'm, I mean, but I think, I don't know. I think, I think. Well, not just this Aston Martin Valhalla, but it seems like, you know, the highest end stuff from many manufacturers is going to be hybridized, it's going to be very advanced. And I think there's really open, a huge opening in the market for stuff like this that's, whether it's the TWR, whether it's that, have you seen that Evoluto 355 Ferraris?

• 59:04Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 59:05Matt Farah?

That's pretty cool. The guys behind that are ex Gunther Works.

• 59:09Speaker 01

And then who's doing the Lamborghini Diablo?

• 59:13Matt Farah?

Eccentrica, I think it's called. That one doesn't speak to me quite as much, but Johnny's like fucking all drooling all over it.

• 59:23Speaker 01

Who's doing the Ford Escort in England? Who's doing that?

• 59:27Matt Farah?

  I don't know.

• 59:28Speaker 01

You haven't seen that one? It's a hot rod resto.

• 59:30Matt Farah?

Oh, that seems cool. I like, we like those. I mean, there's, there's quite a lot, right? You've got Lancia's, the 037, the Chimera's, like, I mean, they're all fucking expensive, but they're the same price as like the supercars, and in a lot of ways, they're more interesting.

• 59:46Speaker 01

This represents great value because in, in a world of everything you're talking about, it's actually underpriced.

• 59:50Matt Farah?

Isn't this like 200,000 or something?

• 59:52Speaker 01

It's more in the threes, but still what you're talking about is more like a million dollar, right?

• 59:57Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 59:58Speaker 01

So, you know, in a weird way, this is affordable, approachable, and...

• 1:00:01Matt Farah?

Yeah, I mean, if you're, if you're going to put this in, in the same, you know, category as Singer or Gunther or what's the, oh boy, Totem? Have you seen the Totem, that Alpha?

• 1:00:11Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:00:12Matt Farah?

Zach and I drove it. It's neat, really, really neat. I mean, it's a carbon tub Alpha GTV with 600 horsepower.

• 1:00:18Speaker 01

Is that a million dollar car, though?

• 1:00:20Matt Farah?

  They don't want a million for it. It's, I think, 600,000.

• 1:00:23Speaker 01

  That's affordable.

• 1:00:24Matt Farah?

  And actually, no, no, it's...

• 1:00:25Speaker 02

We tax, pay an extra tax.

• 1:00:26Matt Farah?

It's fucking crazy, obviously, but, I mean, that Alpha was really, it was very cool.

• 1:00:34Speaker 02

  It was amazing.

• 1:00:35Matt Farah?

  It was amazing.

• 1:00:36Speaker 02

It had the one issue of rubbing, which maybe they can fix.

• 1:00:38Speaker 01

  Wheel and tire combo?

• 1:00:39Speaker 02

  Yeah, maybe something like that.

• 1:00:41Matt Farah?

I think they, it was undisplanted. And I think they just set it to fucking show car height.

• 1:00:46Speaker 02

It should be a little higher, but I mean, everything is just that. It is beautiful. And like everything they've touched and changed is well done. Smart decisions made. Well, looks incredible.

• 1:00:56Speaker 01

  What's it called again?

• 1:00:57Speaker 02

  Ooh, it sounds good.

• 1:00:58Matt Farah?

  GT.

• 1:00:59Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:01:00Matt Farah?

Um, it's, it's very, very, the interior was spectacular. It was a great, I think honestly, I sort of, can you just pull up the interior? Like your, like this car, it's the kind of place where you go, I want to drive this from Los Angeles to Monterey. You know, to spend, I want to spend seven hours enjoying this interior and the, the view out of this car. And, uh, that's the car that we drove.

• 1:01:26Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 1:01:26Matt Farah?

  Uh, the blue car.

• 1:01:27Speaker 01

  Looks cool.

• 1:01:28Matt Farah?

  And it.

• 1:01:28Speaker 01

  It's based on a GTV?

• 1:01:30Matt Farah?

I mean, yes, in theory, although there ain't no GTV left. And it's got a twin turbo V6 and a manual gearbox. Um, oh wait, there's gotta be some real interior photos of this thing.

• 1:01:43Speaker 02

  No.

• 1:01:44Matt Farah?

Um, and this interior is, uh, is really nicely tactile and, um, I think it's, I think you would dig this. Um, the leather was nice and the, and, and that, look at that, the gauge cluster was great.

• 1:01:57Speaker 01

I probably got to talk to Dorian Alpha about it, you know, Mr. DV Mechanicals.

• 1:02:01Matt Farah?

It's, um, the, uh, the motor is by this company, um, what's it, Inter Mechanic?

• 1:02:07Speaker 02

Oh, the name was not the most artistic thing.

• 1:02:10Matt Farah?

Yeah. Um, I can't remember who makes the motor, but the motor was nasty.

• 1:02:13Speaker 01

How many of these are they making?

• 1:02:15Matt Farah?

I mean, as many as they. Uh, 20, it says 20 units, 2.9 liter V6. Um, and, uh, it is a nasty little thing. And they have a few different interior options. So, yeah, so that one, that one is the one that I drove. The, the one that Zach's hovering on. Yeah. And actually this is the one that I sort of prefer the most. The, uh, oh, is that my, uh, I think that's, is that my Instagram post? Oh yes, it is. How about that?

• 1:02:40Speaker 01

  That looks like you.

• 1:02:41Matt Farah?

Yep, it is. So, um, very pretty.

• 1:02:44Speaker 01

Let me see that back end shot.

• 1:02:45Matt Farah?

The back end is, I think. Think superb.

• 1:02:48Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:02:48Speaker 01

  Really good. All integrated?

• 1:02:50Matt Farah?

Yeah. And then the interior, this is the most sort of luxury trim of the interior. It gets more raw and bonkers from here. But the gated shifter, the gearbox is from a Ferrari 550.

• 1:03:05Speaker 01

  Nice.

• 1:03:05Matt Farah?

  Like the whole gearbox, yeah.

• 1:03:06Speaker 02

Like, this is their carbon fiber weave design, which is not just the same one you see on everything. Like, even that little stuff got the special touch. And all of the little knobs and switches are like milled aluminum.

• 1:03:18Speaker 01

  Where are these things made?

• 1:03:19Speaker 02

  Italy, right?

• 1:03:20Matt Farah?

Italy, yeah, I think in Modena.

• 1:03:21Speaker 01

This is what kind of winds me up about Porsche a little bit. Like, you're talking about everything sort of milled and knurled and custom made. That's kind of what I think Porsche is lacking on the top of the line when it comes to like 300 grand for a 992.2 turbo. And it's got the same switchgear like a entry level box that might have. And then you see that and you go, look at that attention to detail.

• 1:03:42Matt Farah?

But this is, look at this view from the driver's seat forward. I mean, the little, on the steering column, you see those, the little drive mode knobs, just all milled and fabulous.

• 1:03:53Speaker 02

Yeah, and this is like your suspension adjustment is this metal knob U-turn.

• 1:03:57Matt Farah?

  Very satisfying clicks for everything.

• 1:04:00Speaker 02

You can see, this is their carbon weave, which like.

• 1:04:03Matt Farah?

  It's like a pattern.

• 1:04:04Speaker 02

Yeah, it looks like a pattern you'd see on a fancy ceiling.

• 1:04:06Matt Farah?

Yeah, and then the house too.

• 1:04:08Speaker 01

Some saddle roll carbon fiber weave right there.

• 1:04:10Matt Farah?

It really was, yeah. It was, it was exactly that.

• 1:04:13Speaker 01

What is this road and track Oregon tour thing you're doing? It looks pretty good.

• 1:04:18Matt Farah?

They're like luxury road trips with little track time and, you know, stuff like that.

• 1:04:22Speaker 01

How many miles a day do you generally drive on those rides?

• 1:04:24Matt Farah?

We keep it under like 200, 220. Yeah, because people don't want to be in the car that much.

• 1:04:28Speaker 01

  Got it.

• 1:04:29Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, it's, it's pretty ideal, actually.

• 1:04:31Speaker 01

And how many days is that?

• 1:04:32Matt Farah?

That one's four. And a day at Dirtfish, too.

• 1:04:35Speaker 01

  I saw it.

• 1:04:35Matt Farah?

Rally school, which is fun, yeah.

• 1:04:36Speaker 01

You guys are men on the move.

• 1:04:38Matt Farah?

If you want to come, if you want to come be a, be a special VIP guest on one of them, I'm sure we could arrange that.

• 1:04:44Speaker 01

  All right, well, it's.

• 1:04:45Matt Farah?

  If you were actually interested.

• 1:04:46Speaker 01

Well, I'm asking, so I'm sort of interested.

• 1:04:49Speaker 02

  I think he's curious.

• 1:04:50Matt Farah?

If you were interested, yeah, if you're, if you're selling your stuff and freeing up your mind and your time, we could certainly arrange that.

• 1:04:55Speaker 02

Have you done rally school before?

• 1:04:57Speaker 01

  Uh, no, I haven't.

• 1:04:58Matt Farah?

Oh, you'd love it. So fun.

• 1:04:59Speaker 01

  It, it looks fun.

• 1:05:00Matt Farah?

Yeah. And, and people that are already like pretty good at driving usually excel at rally school a lot. Yeah. I'll, I'll ask the, I'll ask the team.

• 1:05:09Speaker 01

When is it? When is it? When's that?

• 1:05:11Matt Farah?

Oh shit, June, June. It's, it's like the two posts ago on my Instagram, Zach, if you want to go. It has the dates on it. I forget, uh, offhand, June 10th to 13th. We got the first, we got the sold out one, I think in April.

• 1:05:24Speaker 01

  Some great roads up there.

• 1:05:25Matt Farah?

Oh my God, the route is so good.

• 1:05:27Speaker 01

And the road surface seems to be way better than what we got down here.

• 1:05:30Matt Farah?

The tarmac is very weather resistant.

• 1:05:33Speaker 01

  I get it.

• 1:05:33Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. No, that one's gonna be super fun. Uh, thanks for plugging it for me.

• 1:05:37Speaker 01

I've got a buddy, Pelly Steve, you know, who lives in Oregon. He's the guy that put the Nike shoe together. He came down for the lit week last week and took him up the crest for the first time and driving around, doing all the open houses, emery and all this stuff. And he goes, wow, the roads here are just so bad. Just really, really bad wherever you go, right?

• 1:05:55Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:56Speaker 01

I guess they've got better roads up there.

• 1:05:58Matt Farah?

They do. That's why we, we, we, that's where we go to these places. Yeah. We go, we go where the good roads are.

• 1:06:03Speaker 01

  Arrive and drive.

• 1:06:03Matt Farah?

I'm super excited to fucking scout it too. I haven't done the sky.

• 1:06:07Speaker 01

  I haven't scouted it yet.

• 1:06:08Matt Farah?

No. Uh, should we go to the people?

• 1:06:09Speaker 01

  Yeah. Go to the people.

• 1:06:10Matt Farah?

Let's go to the people. Patreon.com slash the smoking tire podcast is where you go if you want to ask questions for the live stream and then subsequently watch it, get the show before everybody else, get extra show, uh, get the show without ads and get access to, uh, merch collabs and things like that, like the new frozen berry, uh, notice canyon that's coming out very, very soon.

• 1:06:33Speaker 01

What is the frozen berry? I don't know the color, but what is it?

• 1:06:36Matt Farah?

It's my, my, you know, the watch I did?

• 1:06:38Speaker 01

  Oh, it's a watch. It's a watch. Okay.

• 1:06:40Matt Farah?

It's the watch I did, but in the color of the pink car. Yeah. I have it in the other room.

• 1:06:43Speaker 01

I wasn't sure if it was like ice cream or gelato.

• 1:06:46Matt Farah?

  No, no, no.

• 1:06:46Speaker 01

Yoga plate, smoking tire yogurt flavors.

• 1:06:49Matt Farah?

  Unclear.

• 1:06:50Speaker 01

  Yeah, you weren't clear.

• 1:06:51Matt Farah?

Did you see that Porsche did a frozen berry, um, ice cream?

• 1:06:54Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:06:54Matt Farah?

They sent me some. Yeah. It was like, it was very good.

• 1:06:57Speaker 01

  That's on brand.

• 1:06:58Matt Farah?

Yeah, it was on, it was a bar. It was like a.

• 1:06:59Speaker 01

You're obviously in that Twilight Zone jet lag era right now, I think.

• 1:07:02Matt Farah?

Am I a little loopy? Do I seem a little?

• 1:07:04Speaker 01

Does he seem loopy or is this normal? It seems normal. This is normal. He's adjusted. This is normal.

• 1:07:10Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:07:10Speaker 01

  This is normal.

• 1:07:11Speaker 02

  I don't think you've seen Loopy.

• 1:07:12Speaker 01

  It's Friday afternoon.

• 1:07:13Speaker 02

I've seen that Loopy this, isn't it?

• 1:07:15Matt Farah?

No, I have, I'm a little, um, like shifted, maybe? Just like a slight, there's a slight, er, to it. I think I need one more, one more night of sleep, maybe.

• 1:07:27Speaker 01

  Acclimatized.

• 1:07:28Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, but it's okay. We'll get through it.

• 1:07:30Speaker 01

  Before you go sailing.

• 1:07:31Matt Farah?

  Yeah, that'll.

• 1:07:33Speaker 02

And then we go back to different, that time change.

• 1:07:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah, it'll be okay.

• 1:07:37Speaker 01

  You'll figure it out.

• 1:07:38Matt Farah?

We don't have to, at, when you're sailing, you can operate at about 60% brain power.

• 1:07:43Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah. When you're filming a car while driving on a track while filming a car, 110%.

• 1:07:49Speaker 01

  Yeah, 60% will do it.

• 1:07:50Matt Farah?

Yeah. Siren song of the Countach culture. Oh, that says, that's very good.

• 1:07:56Speaker 01

What does that mean, siren song?

• 1:07:57Matt Farah?

  Uh, I, uh, I.

• 1:07:58Speaker 01

  How is your Countach?

• 1:08:00Matt Farah?

Yeah, it's, uh, being reassembled by Damien and Franco's European sports cars.

• 1:08:06Speaker 01

  Here in LA.

• 1:08:07Matt Farah?

  Here in LA.

• 1:08:07Speaker 01

Didn't it go around the world and the motor was built in Europe or someone was building a motor for it? I mean.

• 1:08:12Matt Farah?

The engine and gearbox went to Italy and they're back.

• 1:08:15Speaker 01

  Okay, okay.

• 1:08:16Matt Farah?

  Yeah, they're back.

• 1:08:16Speaker 02

They went to Italy on a honeymoon.

• 1:08:18Speaker 01

Did they come back assembled or they came back in pieces?

• 1:08:20Matt Farah?

Yeah, they came back fully ready to go in, ready, running.

• 1:08:23Speaker 01

  Dyno'd, ready to go.

• 1:08:24Matt Farah?

  Running, yes.

• 1:08:24Speaker 01

How much horsepower does a, does a Countach?

• 1:08:26Matt Farah?

It was like 446. It was good, more than stock.

• 1:08:30Speaker 01

  Well, that's good.

• 1:08:31Matt Farah?

Yeah, it was great. Uh, siren song is a Rise Against reference. Uh, is there any amount of money that it would take to buy the 277 car?

• 1:08:40Speaker 01

  That's a keeper.

• 1:08:41Matt Farah?

  Okay, nothing?

• 1:08:43Speaker 01

  Nothing.

• 1:08:44Matt Farah?

  Millions?

• 1:08:44Speaker 01

Make an offer. How many millions?

• 1:08:47Matt Farah?

There is a number. The answer is there is a number. He just hasn't heard it yet.

• 1:08:51Speaker 01

Yeah, I've never thought about it.

• 1:08:53Matt Farah?

Yeah. There are like people, there are, there's a number for sure.

• 1:08:56Speaker 01

  Yeah, I mean.

• 1:08:57Speaker 02

I feel like if you end up in a position where you have sold every car and everything and you still have to sell 277, that would be a terrible day.

• 1:09:04Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:09:05Matt Farah?

No, well, if that happens, they could smell the desperation.

• 1:09:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:09:08Matt Farah?

Hopefully that's not where you want to be.

• 1:09:10Speaker 01

No, it's not where we want to be.

• 1:09:11Matt Farah?

Uh, carbon monocoque and ball torture says, uh, what makes a Porsche an outlaw?

• 1:09:18Speaker 01

Well, people have been outlawing Porsches since the James Dean days, right? So, you know, it's a term that's, there's nothing new about that.

• 1:09:25Matt Farah?

It used to mean, it started by being chromeed, delete, you know, racing-inspired wheels.

• 1:09:32Speaker 02

Driving in Argentina in the 40s.

• 1:09:34Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah. Doing Carrera Panamericana.

• 1:09:38Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:09:38Speaker 01

You know, that would be, I mean, the outlaw term is, you know, someone who lives outside of the law, right? But I don't think there's any laws when it comes to modifying Porsches. But I guess Emery Outlaw would be one of the first ones, or, you know.

• 1:09:51Matt Farah?

I'm pretty sure that Emery, Emery's family is like where it started.

• 1:09:55Speaker 01

  Yeah, for sure.

• 1:09:56Matt Farah?

So it's, it's, it's that sort of style, yeah.

• 1:09:59Speaker 01

The 356 is the beginning of the outlaw, bumper deletes and hot rodded touches.

• 1:10:03Matt Farah?

Hot rodded, some, some small little changes that people go, what the, what's different here? And then, you know.

• 1:10:09Speaker 01

  Same but different.

• 1:10:10Matt Farah?

Rudge wheels or magnesium wheels or whatever, some horsepower, things like that. Non-stuck 356s. No country for old buffets. I respect Magnus for unironically defending the slant nose. Are there other unpopular configurations of Porsche that you like? I, I mean, look, obviously, I, do, do you need, is, is a slant nose an unpopular choice? Values say otherwise. Real slant noses are worth a fuckload of money.

• 1:10:38Speaker 01

Yeah. I don't have a real one. For me, I got sentimental value mentally with the slant nose because the first Porsche I ever bought 35 odd years ago was a slant nose from the Pomona Swamp Meet.

• 1:10:48Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:10:49Speaker 01

And maybe six, seven years ago, I'm like, I gotta get a new slant nose, another slant nose. And I went all around the country looking at DP, Kramer, Gambala, Roof, factory ones, and then that one found me here in LA.

• 1:11:00Matt Farah?

  The red guy.

• 1:11:01Speaker 01

The red guy, the 74 slant nose.

• 1:11:03Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:04Speaker 01

With an interesting story, so. I'm a slant nose fan.

• 1:11:06Matt Farah?

  I'm a fuck, I'm a slant nose fan too.

• 1:11:09Speaker 01

So, you know, anything that sort of has some character and personality, I'm into when it comes to 911s, no matter what it is.

• 1:11:16Matt Farah?

Yeah, no, I like the slant nose too. I mean, I, I know, I understand why people wouldn't like a slant nose conversion on like a 930 or something, but like, yeah, I'm pro slant nose. This is a little beyond a slant nose conversion. This is like a 935 body.

• 1:11:30Speaker 01

And the interesting part to this story is...

• 1:11:31Matt Farah?

  Does it have any headlights?

• 1:11:32Speaker 01

The interesting part to this story is, the guy that modified it in the 80s remembered the car. He like called me up, this guy, and goes, "I built that car in 1983 at AIR in Burbank."

• 1:11:44Matt Farah?

  Wow.

• 1:11:45Speaker 01

So he's been in LA pretty much his entire life. It just needs a bigger motor. It needs like a 500 horsepower turbo as opposed to like a 210 horsepower 2.7.

• 1:11:54Matt Farah?

  Yeah, a lot of wing.

• 1:11:55Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:11:56Matt Farah?

  Not a lot.

• 1:11:56Speaker 01

And that fiberglass is pretty heavy. So it's a great base. It's a 74 US Carrera underneath it, which has some significance, but it's a blank canvas for.

• 1:12:05Matt Farah?

Yeah, you need to, this is a, you need to call Busy Moto.

• 1:12:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:12:09Matt Farah?

  You know.

• 1:12:09Speaker 01

And get like 600 horsepower twin turbo in it and then do a Coca-Cola livery on it.

• 1:12:13Matt Farah?

You'd have to tell Busy to fucking hold back.

• 1:12:16Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:12:16Matt Farah?

  Busy would be like.

• 1:12:17Speaker 01

  A thousand horsepower.

• 1:12:18Matt Farah?

This car will hold 1,000 horsepower. And you're like, no, stop it.

• 1:12:22Speaker 01

  It's not a minivan.

• 1:12:23Matt Farah?

  Fucking psycho.

• 1:12:24Speaker 01

  It's not an Odyssey minivan.

• 1:12:26Matt Farah?

I love him. He is great. He's in, he's in, he's featured in the article I wrote for Road and Track on newsstands this month.

• 1:12:34Speaker 01

  What is that article?

• 1:12:35Matt Farah?

It's called Dino Tasting. I took the same car to four dynos.

• 1:12:41Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:12:41Matt Farah?

To see how the different dynos would read the same exact car a little differently. And they did.

• 1:12:47Speaker 01

  How big was the difference?

• 1:12:49Matt Farah?

Uh, the difference between the biggest, the highest and the lowest number was, I think, uh, 40 horsepower, which is about a 10% variation.

• 1:13:00Speaker 01

  400 horsepower-ish car?

• 1:13:02Matt Farah?

  It was a Mustang GT.

• 1:13:03Speaker 01

  Okay, okay.

• 1:13:03Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, it was a Mustang GT. So, uh, so yeah, it's a, it's a fun, it's a cool story, but Busy has the, one of those hub dynos.

• 1:13:10Speaker 01

Yeah, where you take the wheels off.

• 1:13:12Matt Farah?

Take the wheels off. Yeah, really interesting. He loves it.

• 1:13:15Speaker 01

Was that closer to true horsepower? Was that losing 10%?

• 1:13:18Matt Farah?

No, it was, it was right in the middle. It was in the middle of the, so I don't know like.

• 1:13:23Speaker 01

Which lost the least and which lost the most?

• 1:13:25Matt Farah?

  Read the article, fucker.

• 1:13:26Speaker 01

I read the, I read the.

• 1:13:28Matt Farah?

Uh, I don't want to give it away. Blow up my own spot.

• 1:13:30Speaker 01

  Was this a stock Mustang?

• 1:13:32Matt Farah?

It was. It was a dark horse. Yeah, it was a dark horse. So, I mean, they were, look, it, it, it wasn't, it wasn't about which is more right. It was just to show that dynos are very useful tools for doing a before, after, to, you know, a thing or to improve your tunes or whatever, but, but you need to just tune on one machine. If you put the same car on four different machines on the same day, they'll read different, but the car isn't making different power. It's just like, you know, someone's got to read higher.

• 1:14:01Speaker 01

What is the most common, the roller?

• 1:14:04Matt Farah?

  What is the most what?

• 1:14:05Speaker 01

  Common form of dyno.

• 1:14:06Matt Farah?

Yeah, just like, just like, yeah, chassis dynos, yeah, yeah. Two of them were rear drive rollers, one was an all wheel drive roller, and then one was the pack, the, the hub thing.

• 1:14:16Speaker 01

  Interesting article.

• 1:14:17Matt Farah?

  Yeah, it was neat.

• 1:14:18Speaker 01

  Alright, busy model.

• 1:14:19Matt Farah?

Christian says, was downtown LA ever thriving? Went there once and didn't see the appeal.

• 1:14:24Speaker 01

  I mean.

• 1:14:25Matt Farah?

  The arts district is cool.

• 1:14:26Speaker 01

I've been downtown for 35 years, so for me, it's like a Slano, you either love it or you hate it. You know, it's like these certain west siders don't go downtown, right? It's kind of one of those LA things, but to me, there's just a lot of inspiration around there. Great restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, you know, I'm walking around all the time with Willow, and to me, it's an inspiring place to be, it's kind of my home, and that's what I like about it.

• 1:14:50Matt Farah?

Our buddy Christian just moved downtown like two years ago, and I thought he was gonna hate it, and he actually like loves it, and now says he'll like never leave.

• 1:14:58Speaker 01

It's in a quiet taste downtown, I think.

• 1:15:00Matt Farah?

Yeah, but I mean, like, you know, same with like Venice, like I lived in Venice for eight years, and it's like, you know, it's for a, for a expensive beach town, it's like pretty fucking grimy, but I liked that, you know, I liked the grind.

• 1:15:13Speaker 01

How do you like your new mid-century modern neighborhood?

• 1:15:15Matt Farah?

We like it too, we like our neighbors. We like, we never made good neighbor friends in Venice, but we have really, really good friends where we live now, so. And you came to my birthday Cars and Coffee at eight o'clock in the morning.

• 1:15:26Speaker 01

I came to your birthday party.

• 1:15:27Matt Farah?

Anna could not have a surprise Cars and Coffee for my birthday at eight o'clock in the morning in Venice, and she can't.

• 1:15:32Speaker 01

I got it, that's pretty good.

• 1:15:33Matt Farah?

Uh, the Swinging Tire says, what is the first Porsche production car to match or outperform a roof yellowbird? Oh, that's interesting.

• 1:15:43Speaker 01

  First production?

• 1:15:44Matt Farah?

To really, oh dude, you'd have to go to like a 996 Turbo, probably.

• 1:15:51Speaker 01

I don't even think that matches.

• 1:15:52Matt Farah?

Maybe it doesn't, maybe the GT. Two.

• 1:15:54Speaker 02

Well, then isn't the challenge that roof was always, you know, piggybacking off of the new car? So they would always turn it up beyond what Porsche would put out.

• 1:16:01Speaker 01

I mean, that was a benchmark, the yellow bird, right?

• 1:16:03Matt Farah?

I mean, look at where the value of those cars is now. To make a car that went 211 miles an hour? I mean.

• 1:16:08Speaker 01

  Have they made one?

• 1:16:09Matt Farah?

Yeah. No, the production car? Yeah, Carrera GT, I think.

• 1:16:14Speaker 01

  Pull it up. I bet it's, I bet it's not 211.

• 1:16:17Matt Farah?

I think a Carrera GT went that quick? Yeah, no?

• 1:16:21Speaker 01

  Let's see.

• 1:16:21Matt Farah?

  No? It must.

• 1:16:24Speaker 01

  202.

• 1:16:25Speaker 02

918 Spider did two. Where'd it go? Uh, 211?

• 1:16:29Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 1:16:30Speaker 01

  918.

• 1:16:31Matt Farah?

  Imagine it took them.

• 1:16:32Speaker 02

Carrera GT went 205. The turbos usually go 205. It's, it's rare that they go, you know, beyond much over two.

• 1:16:37Matt Farah?

It took to the 918 to get from 1987.

• 1:16:42Speaker 01

  When is Porsche?

• 1:16:43Speaker 02

Well, also to give a shit and to go.

• 1:16:44Speaker 01

When is, when is Porsche gonna build a replacement for the 918?

• 1:16:48Matt Farah?

That is a very interesting question.

• 1:16:51Speaker 01

They don't want to answer it. I mean, I know they had the Mission X or whatever it was, the electric one, which nobody wanted, that they thought everyone was gonna take.

• 1:16:59Matt Farah?

Yeah, well, I think that, I think they now know that nobody wants an electric hypercar. Like they remember, like I drove and did they, I don't know if they offered to let you drive it, um, that thousand horsepower electric Cayman thing? That would, I, I.

• 1:17:13Speaker 01

  Oh, the track car?

• 1:17:13Matt Farah?

Yeah, the race car. I tried that. Um, and I was like, okay, well, I, I, I could see what you're doing here, but like, I don't know, man. And I think they now think, they now know people don't want an electric hypercar.

• 1:17:26Speaker 01

I'm surprised they didn't know that sooner.

• 1:17:28Matt Farah?

But, but like everything, like is the 918, like the, the, all of Lamborghini's lineup is the 918. This new Aston Valhalla is a 918. Like everything at the top end has the art, the layout of the 918.

• 1:17:43Speaker 01

  Mid-engine hybrid.

• 1:17:44Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:17:45Speaker 01

Well, you think of that 918 though, that came out in 2013, so that's 13 years ago. That technology's gotta be 15 years old today, right? So they're playing catch up there, I think.

• 1:17:54Matt Farah?

Well, I, I drove the 918 a thousand miles last summer. It feels surprisingly not dated.

• 1:18:02Speaker 01

Well, that's good. I mean, that's practical, right?

• 1:18:04Matt Farah?

You could change the gauge cluster and like the battery chemistry. So it has like a little more electric performance and it sell the same fucking car today.

• 1:18:13Speaker 01

  Bring it back.

• 1:18:14Matt Farah?

  Just sell the same car.

• 1:18:15Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:18:15Matt Farah?

Like, don't, you don't need to change anything else.

• 1:18:17Speaker 01

They won't, they, they won't do that.

• 1:18:19Matt Farah?

They won't, but like they could. They could easily do a nine eighteen dot two today.

• 1:18:25Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:18:25Matt Farah?

Change like three things and just make more and make a fortune. Oh, they'd make so much money.

• 1:18:33Speaker 02

  They're having financial problems.

• 1:18:34Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, yeah, I forgot about that.

• 1:18:36Matt Farah?

Yeah. Paint the sample body blue.

• 1:18:40Matt Farah?

Magnus, which family of American vehicles might you customize like your Porsches?

• 1:18:45Speaker 01

  I'm a Mopar guy.

• 1:18:48Speaker 01

  Vintage Mopar.

• 1:18:49Matt Farah?

Didn't you have a Challenger at one point?

• 1:18:51Speaker 01

I had two Super Bs. I still got the tattoo right there. I had a sixty-five Mustang GT three fifty Shelby look alive.

• 1:18:57Matt Farah?

  Yeah, I remember that one.

• 1:18:58Speaker 01

I kinda want one of those again.

• 1:18:59Matt Farah?

Koji Koji says, Magnus, favorite BMW and Mercedes models respectively?

• 1:19:05Speaker 01

Oh, BMW Batmobile and that's pretty obvious. Or two thousand two or M one, kinda like the M one. My buddy's got one, Mr. Enthusiast. Mercedes Goldwing, you know, if Goldwing was the price of an E-type Jag, I'd be driving a Goldwing.

• 1:19:18Matt Farah?

Man, Goldwings, they're so nice to drive.

• 1:19:21Speaker 01

I did the Amelia Amelia in one. I did the Silveretta Classic in one.

• 1:19:25Matt Farah?

You can just drive one of those all day, can't you?

• 1:19:27Speaker 01

Yeah, you get comfortable in them pretty quickly. It's kinda like driving an E-type Jag that doesn't stop as good and looks better.

• 1:19:32Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:19:33Speaker 01

And it's like, you know, ten times more money.

• 1:19:34Matt Farah?

Yeah, but that's the good thing about E-type Jags, isn't it?

• 1:19:37Speaker 01

  Yeah, I mean.

• 1:19:38Matt Farah?

They're very pretty and they are very nice to drive and they're relatively cheap.

• 1:19:41Speaker 01

You know, SLC would be pretty cool. Uh, Zilber Zau, pretty cool.

• 1:19:48Matt Farah?

  Oh, Zilber Zau?

• 1:19:49Speaker 01

Yeah, the red pig, the Zilber Zau. Uh, things like that, I guess.

• 1:19:53Matt Farah?

  Uh, uh, I don't have.

• 1:19:57Matt Farah?

I don't have, we talked about this on a previous show, but I don't have the information in front of me. Um, okay, wait.

• 1:20:06Matt Farah?

Two Clutches One Shift says, I got a one out of five hundred Zurich Triptych Lapis dial for half retail. It's now sold out. It resembles an AP Star Wheel. Thoughts on Zurich and limited editions from micro brands? I think they're fun, but was told real collectors won't respect them. I'll take the last part first, and that's not really true. Real enthusiasts, if you show up to anywhere with an interesting watch, and that is an interesting watch, will go, "Oh, look, that's an interesting watch. Tell me about it. You've got the Toladano and Chan."

• 1:20:40Speaker 01

  The B1.

• 1:20:41Matt Farah?

Which is an interesting watch. They just came out with their new guy.

• 1:20:44Speaker 01

The B3, sold out. Those guys, you know, up the game, titanium. That's not titanium, but the B3's titanium, gold.

• 1:20:51Matt Farah?

See, I can't, unfortunately, actually, that's not true. I could fuck with this watch. I'd just flip it over, right? Because I have to wear it on my right hand. I wear my watch in my right hand. This is, it's not symmetrical.

• 1:21:01Speaker 01

  Correct.

• 1:21:02Matt Farah?

If you wear it on your left hand, it's perfect, because your angle is right of your face.

• 1:21:06Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:21:06Matt Farah?

  They need a Destro version.

• 1:21:08Speaker 01

  For right-hand drive.

• 1:21:10Matt Farah?

I suppose I could just flip it over.

• 1:21:11Speaker 01

  You could flip it over.

• 1:21:12Matt Farah?

I could. I could fucking totally Jimi Hendrix this watch. It would be no problem. I like these watches, and I like a lot of micro brands, and Zurich is an interesting brand. They have a lot of interesting ways to display time, and very few watches are investment-grade. Very few, even ones that seem like they would be. You know what I mean? Most watches, you wear them for a while, and when you sell them, you're not going to get.

• 1:21:41Speaker 01

Ironically, this has doubled in value. Like, the guys that bought the first one of these, they're like flipping them for double and triple.

• 1:21:47Matt Farah?

I mean, that's, that's cool, but that's not like normal.

• 1:21:51Speaker 01

Right. But these guys did something that's not normal. You know, if you look at what they did, the brutalist movement, yeah, it's inspired by the 70s, but the case, the strap, it's pretty unique.

• 1:22:02Matt Farah?

It is. It is. It's a different watch, and they did it at a time that integrated bracelets are super hot, and also, they like, know people at Hodinkie to hype it up and all this other stuff. Like, I'm not criticizing, like, you know, some micro brands get a lot of early success, and you can flip them and become, and other ones, like, not so much. Like, that brand's been around, like, who knows if the same thing will happen? Maybe it will, maybe it won't, when they're doing the B50.

• 1:22:30Speaker 01

  The B52s.

• 1:22:31Matt Farah?

Yeah, whatever. Like, God bless them. I hope, I hope they do, but like, who knows? You know what I mean? Taste may change. So, like, Zurich, it's, uh, it's fucking cool. If you like it, and you look down your wrist and go, "Yeah", then that's where we're at, right?

• 1:22:46Matt Farah?

Forrest Casey says, what separates tuners with staying power versus those that fade away? Is it actual quality or something more akin to fashion?

• 1:22:56Speaker 01

That's a great question. If you talk to Roof, they're not a tuner. You know, they describe theirself as a manufacturer, an engineering company. I mean, Gambala, Stosic, you know, I love the way those cars look. It's hard to compete with Roof when they're doing the world's fastest car and they're doing more Porsche than Porsche and they're doing 211 miles an hour and it's still relevant and significant. And I think, you know, Roof is in a different category.

• 1:23:21Matt Farah?

Yeah. Roof gets their own VIN numbers or got their own VIN numbers. Dynan was the racing team, you know, for BMW. Like, and Strosig and Gambala, bless their hearts, you know,

• 1:23:35Speaker 01

That was more of a body kit thing.

• 1:23:37Matt Farah?

aesthetic mods that were, that were very targeted to a specific era and of, and taste. 80's Xs for Gambala and into the 90's and, and Strosig was a real specific early 90's look that may come back eventually, but like, you know, that, that wasn't gonna last.

• 1:23:59Speaker 01

Someone offered me a Stosic bodied 928 recently that looked cool.

• 1:24:03Matt Farah?

  I bet it was cool.

• 1:24:04Speaker 01

It had the testicular streaks down the side of it. You know, it's like TWR, TWR, right? That's not a tuner. They're like a motorsports engineering firm that developed the XJ220. It was Jag's race team, really. Raced at Le Mans and won at Le Mans in 1988. So, you know, I think that's the difference.

• 1:24:22Matt Farah?

Oh, wow. And I have to say, Zach just pulled up a Speedster.

• 1:24:27Speaker 01

Look at the price of it, though. I'm kinda surprised at that price.

• 1:24:30Matt Farah?

Surprised at how high it is?

• 1:24:31Speaker 01

Yeah, that seems relatively high to me. Don't you think?

• 1:24:34Matt Farah?

  It's $168,000.

• 1:24:35Speaker 02

This is like a Mitsubishi 3000 GT front end with a 911 Speedster back end.

• 1:24:40Matt Farah?

It's pretty, it's pretty aggressive, but actually I think it, I think, I can, I can see how it got this money. I think there's not, a lot of these were converted back to stock. And, and this one is not just, it's the whole bit. It's a Speedster too. It's not just a regular like 911.

• 1:24:58Speaker 01

I'm not a Speedster fan. I've never owned a Speedster.

• 1:25:00Speaker 02

I think the proportions are often a little weird.

• 1:25:02Matt Farah?

Go down. Is the mileage also kinda low? 56,000 miles. Oh, TMU though.

• 1:25:07Speaker 02

  Ooh, that's not good.

• 1:25:07Matt Farah?

  Not great from the back.

• 1:25:09Speaker 01

  Party in the rear.

• 1:25:10Matt Farah?

  Better from the front.

• 1:25:11Speaker 02

I think this highlights like roof and dining. They kind of, they took whatever the company was doing and they just expanded the horsepower, but didn't change like the identity of the car.

• 1:25:20Speaker 01

Yeah, the yellow bird is a narrow bodied car.

• 1:25:22Speaker 02

Right. And it's really subtle and they kept doing that. I think that, I think they saw what the manufacturer was doing and why people liked it and they just turn up the wick on the power. But this is like, this is giving the nine eleven the Lamborghini treatment.

• 1:25:33Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:25:34Speaker 02

To make it really extroverted visually. And I don't think that's why the company's, I don't think that's why the manufacturer's stuck around.

• 1:25:40Matt Farah?

Porsche is too conservative for me. I need, I need more like, more like Lambo.

• 1:25:45Speaker 01

  More Lambo, less Porsche.

• 1:25:47Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh, let's see. Uh, just the Tiptronic, what are some good alternatives to the vintage Porsche experience? Now that many vintage Porsches are unattainable to us.

• 1:26:00Speaker 01

Well, I think there's a Porsche for every price point, right? Entry level's got to be a box to still represent.

• 1:26:06Matt Farah?

  Sure.

• 1:26:06Speaker 01

Good bang for the buck, I think, so.

• 1:26:08Matt Farah?

  Or nine nine six.

• 1:26:09Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, nine nine sixes are going up in price. They're no longer available in the teens.

• 1:26:14Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 1:26:14Speaker 01

  But they're still affordable.

• 1:26:15Matt Farah?

Available for like third twenty, thirty, like.

• 1:26:18Speaker 01

Yeah. So if you want a nine eleven, if you want your Porsche experience to be a nine eleven and you don't care about air cooled, nine nine six all day long.

• 1:26:25Matt Farah?

What is the, what is the most affordable air cooled experience right now? SC convertible?

• 1:26:32Speaker 01

  SC Targa.

• 1:26:33Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:26:34Speaker 01

You know, but even that's like fifty, sixty grand.

• 1:26:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:26:37Speaker 01

And if you want a nice SC or like, I've never owned a three, two Carrera. And recently I saw one in a cool car. So I thought, oh, maybe it's time until I realized they were sixty to eighty grand or seventy to a hundred grand. And I go, wow, that's a lot of money.

• 1:26:51Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:26:52Speaker 01

So I don't think there are any air cooled bargains unless you want to live with a SC or a three, two Targa or something like, I mean, SC would be great, but that's not a bargain.

• 1:27:02Matt Farah?

Yeah. Nine twelve suck. Um, Jeremy was a race car driver, says, uh, let's see. Uh, the only two Porsches I've driven are a gen two Panamera GTS and a nine nine six. Am I missing the driving experience that makes a Porsche a Porsche? Um, I mean, are you disappointed with those driving experiences?

• 1:27:25Speaker 01

Probably not. I mean, I don't think a 996 is disappointing. I mean, that's a different era and generation to what I'm into, which is early air-cooled stuff. You know, which is just a lot lighter and more nimble, but I don't think you're missing it.

• 1:27:40Matt Farah?

No, I just drove my buddy's, uh, my buddy's 996 Carrera 4S. Shout out to Santo, my physical therapist, was getting serviced at BBI. When I had to run my car down to BBI and I was done, then I was like, oh, just drive. You want me to drive it home for you? Cause he lives back up here. So I did. And I hadn't driven a 996 in a while, so I did 50 miles home in this nice C4S. Um, and it was very nice. It was set up well and it had, it had a nice, a nice ride. The, the shifter was good. The steering was nice. The brakes were strong.

• 1:28:11Speaker 01

I mean, but Tim seems to know what he's doing.

• 1:28:13Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. The car was set up really nicely, but, uh, but it's, uh, it was a good car, man. It was really enjoyable, actually.

• 1:28:19Speaker 01

I think 996 is a good place to be. I don't know if this guy's missing out.

• 1:28:22Matt Farah?

  I don't think you're missing the experience. A Gen 2 Panamera GTS NAV8 is a sweet ride. I think, I think.

• 1:28:29Speaker 01

Now, you've got a Taycan, right?

• 1:28:30Matt Farah?

Yeah, it's downstairs. Didn't you see it? Weren't the guys washing it when you came in?

• 1:28:34Speaker 01

No, I parked outside. The guy was taking photos of that SL. That bronze SL.

• 1:28:39Matt Farah?

That bronze SL is a one-owner car with fucking records to new.

• 1:28:43Speaker 01

  You gotta like that.

• 1:28:44Matt Farah?

Palm Springs car. It'll still be 20 grand, but it's a great, it's a great, great car. Uh, was that it, Zach? Was that all for the questions, Jones? Where are you going next? Once you have, uh, once you got a little cash in your pocket?

• 1:28:55Speaker 01

I'm gonna go home to see my mom. My mom's 82, so I'm gonna spend a little time in England and, uh, time will tell.

• 1:29:02Matt Farah?

Visit TWR while you're over there?

• 1:29:04Speaker 01

Visit TWR, let's boomerang in the car back, uh, but spend time with my mom in Sheffield. I'll be next.

• 1:29:09Matt Farah?

Do you leave a car over there?

• 1:29:11Speaker 01

No, no, I've never owned a car in England.

• 1:29:13Matt Farah?

  Really? Never?

• 1:29:14Speaker 01

Never, never, never had a driver's license in England.

• 1:29:16Matt Farah?

Well, now you're, I mean, your US one is fine, but like, have you ever thought about having a vacation vehicle?

• 1:29:23Speaker 01

Uh, that's OPP, other people's Porsches.

• 1:29:26Matt Farah?

There we go. Are you having like a meet while you're out there?

• 1:29:28Speaker 01

Uh, time will tell. I mean, those always seem to crop up, you know, they do seem to happen. The outlaw gatherings are spontaneous.

• 1:29:36Matt Farah?

Is there a caffeine machine near Sheffield? I don't know the geography of Sheffield.

• 1:29:41Speaker 01

  That's a cool space though.

• 1:29:42Matt Farah?

  Where the?

• 1:29:42Speaker 01

  I like those guys.

• 1:29:43Matt Farah?

Can you pull up a map and show me where Sheffield is in the UK?

• 1:29:45Speaker 01

They've expanded. They've now got two or three of them.

• 1:29:48Matt Farah?

Caffeine machine? Yeah, I'm pretty sure three. Yeah, shout out to Phil.

• 1:29:51Speaker 01

Yeah, he's doing a good job.

• 1:29:52Matt Farah?

I, I, I love that business. Zach and I had such a great time.

• 1:29:56Speaker 01

Have you done his I love you man event night with?

• 1:29:59Matt Farah?

No, we did a TST podcast live there and sold it out.

• 1:30:04Speaker 01

I guess that one there would be close. Sheffield's right there. Uh, go up north of Birmingham.

• 1:30:09Matt Farah?

  Oh, north of Birmingham.

• 1:30:10Speaker 01

Keep going, there it is. There's Sheffield.

• 1:30:12Matt Farah?

  Oh, oh yeah, up there.

• 1:30:13Speaker 01

  Near Manchester, right there.

• 1:30:14Matt Farah?

  I see.

• 1:30:15Speaker 01

Yeah, there it is. Sheffield. Steel town. Famous for steel. We invented stainless steel there.

• 1:30:19Matt Farah?

  Really?

• 1:30:20Speaker 01

Yeah. The process of stainless steel was invented in Sheffield.

• 1:30:23Matt Farah?

  Oh, good to know.

• 1:30:24Speaker 01

Big steel town, supplied the auto industry, famous for cutlery and knives and Def Leppard and Joe Cocker and Pulp and...

• 1:30:31Matt Farah?

How are the roads in the Peak District National Park?

• 1:30:34Speaker 01

  Spectacular.

• 1:30:34Matt Farah?

  Really?

• 1:30:35Speaker 01

  Spectacular.

• 1:30:35Matt Farah?

  That's the spot?

• 1:30:36Speaker 01

That is a pretty good spot to drive around there.

• 1:30:39Matt Farah?

It looks nice. The, uh, whatever that road is there between, what's that? Maccles- Macclesfield?

• 1:30:44Speaker 01

  Macclesfield.

• 1:30:44Matt Farah?

Macclesfield? The road to Macclesfield looks pretty solid to me.

• 1:30:48Speaker 01

Lots of great driving roads out there.

• 1:30:49Matt Farah?

And then up there, Hope Valley, Heather Sage.

• 1:30:51Speaker 01

That's not, Heather Sage, that's not too far from where I'm at.

• 1:30:55Matt Farah?

That looks like good roads there.

• 1:30:56Speaker 01

  That's Derbyshire, on the border.

• 1:30:58Matt Farah?

I love driving in the UK. It is really a nice place to drive. I know the people that live there are probably like, what the fuck are you talking about? But I like it.

• 1:31:04Speaker 01

All right. It's a good place to visit. That's what I see.

• 1:31:07Matt Farah?

Thanks to Roundabout, Zach and I drove.

• 1:31:09Speaker 01

Roundabouts, we got a lot of them in England.

• 1:31:10Matt Farah?

Thanks to that, we drove from fucking Goodwood all the way out to the Lotus factory in wherever the fuck, east of the end, without stopping. Car in motion, the whole time, four hours, I mean it was fabulous.

• 1:31:23Speaker 01

Cause one of my most irritating drives was from Goodwood to Sheffield on a Sunday after Festival of Speed on the M1 where they've got these, yeah, they've got these designated, you know, 25 mile an hour speed zones that go on for like 40 miles and the never ending roadworks where no one's working on the road, you know, stuff like that.

• 1:31:43Matt Farah?

Yeah, I feel you. I guess, but to go from, you know, my day to day, light to light existence here, being in motion, even slowly.

• 1:31:51Speaker 02

Montana had a lot of roundabouts.

• 1:31:53Matt Farah?

Montana had a lot of roundabouts.

• 1:31:54Speaker 01

  You gotta be in motion.

• 1:31:55Matt Farah?

Yeah, dude, Big Sky and that whole area, so many roundabouts.

• 1:31:57Speaker 01

I mean, LA doesn't do the roundabout thing, they're all about rolling stop signs.

• 1:32:00Matt Farah?

  They are.

• 1:32:01Speaker 02

  We've gotta invent a round.

• 1:32:03Matt Farah?

Yeah, they gave it a name. Um, thanks for coming, dude.

• 1:32:06Speaker 01

  Thanks for having me.

• 1:32:07Matt Farah?

Give me those dates again for the RM.

• 1:32:09Speaker 01

I'm Sutherland's No Reserve, March 18th through the 25th. The 25th is the day you put on your calendar and get out and bid.

• 1:32:16Matt Farah?

What's the biggest ticket item on there, estimated?

• 1:32:18Speaker 01

  They're all no reserve.

• 1:32:19Matt Farah?

I know it's no reserve, but what's the biggest?

• 1:32:21Speaker 01

Probably the 76, 27 RS, MFI, Carrera, Porsche's, that one right there.

• 1:32:25Matt Farah?

That one on the left, top left.

• 1:32:26Speaker 01

That's Porsche's last production MFI car, they only made 113 of them.

• 1:32:31Matt Farah?

  Oh, wow.

• 1:32:32Speaker 01

So, that, time will tell, we'll see.

• 1:32:35Matt Farah?

That's probably a good one. You had an 09, I bet nobody gave a fuck about this thing in 09.

• 1:32:40Speaker 01

No, I mean, it's all about the buy.

• 1:32:41Matt Farah?

Was this like $18,000 or something?

• 1:32:43Speaker 01

  Maybe even less than that.

• 1:32:44Matt Farah?

Yeah, dude, nobody gave a fuck about these until all of a sudden they did.

• 1:32:52Speaker 01

Yeah, they didn't until they did.

• 1:32:53Matt Farah?

Yeah, I like the French market headlights on that too.

• 1:32:56Speaker 01

Yeah, they look good on that car.

• 1:32:57Matt Farah?

Yeah, they look, they look good on almost everything from there. I put the, I put the French fogs on the Countach.

• 1:33:01Speaker 01

I'm surprised more people don't do that.

• 1:33:03Matt Farah?

  They're good.

• 1:33:04Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:33:05Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:33:06Speaker 01

  Vive la France, right?

• 1:33:07Matt Farah?

  I think they look great.

• 1:33:08Speaker 02

You're good at adding that color to the silver car.

• 1:33:09Matt Farah?

I was in France yesterday for six hours at Charles de Gaulle Airport.

• 1:33:10Speaker 01

  Flying through.

• 1:33:11Matt Farah?

Yeah. Charles de Gaulle was for a long time a no-go. I would not take a layover there. They've gotten better. Gotta give them credit. They have actually gotten better.

• 1:33:19Speaker 01

There's no direct flight to Bilbao or wherever it is?

• 1:33:22Matt Farah?

Not on, uh, not in, not within my Delta universe. No, no, no. We gotta, at least it's not Amsterdam.

• 1:33:28Speaker 01

  You're at Schloppel Airport.

• 1:33:30Matt Farah?

I, I, I like Schiffel Airport, but it's, but from Spain, that's like hours out of the way. Yeah, it's no good.

• 1:33:37Speaker 01

  Paris or Heathrow?

• 1:33:38Matt Farah?

  Thanks, buddy.

• 1:33:39Speaker 01

  Thanks, guys. Appreciate it.

• 1:33:40Matt Farah?

I appreciate you coming by and I'll be watching. Uh, we will be watching from a boat.

• 1:33:46Speaker 01

You can probably make a bid on that Red Bull fridge. You seem to be like.

• 1:33:49Matt Farah?

Five dollars. No reserve. Let's go. Uh, thank you very much.

• 1:33:53Speaker 01

  You can drink. Thank you.

• 1:33:54Matt Farah?

  Yeah, comes, is it full?

• 1:33:55Speaker 01

  Full of Red Bull.

• 1:33:57Matt Farah?

Thanks to our patrons for asking such good questions. Thank you to everyone else for listening. We'll see you guys later. Bye.

• 1:34:03Speaker 01

  Cheers.
