• 0:09Sean Hayes?

Hey guys, So Smartless Media has a new show coming out. It's called Staying Alive. It's awesome. It's hosted by Adam Pally and John Grabus and, uh, sorry, Gabrus.

• 0:18Speaker 01

  Gabrus.

• 0:18Sean Hayes?

Sorry, I changed the R and the A. I don't know, it's something I do all the time.

• 0:22Speaker 01

  Please, I do it.

• 0:23Sean Hayes?

  Yeah, Gabrus.

• 0:25Speaker 02

Also, there is something Garbus and Garbled. There's something like-

• 0:27Speaker 01

  Garbage and Glaberous.

• 0:29Speaker 02

There's something that you wanna just like-

• 0:31Speaker 01

There's a lot of words going on there. Mons Pubis.

• 0:34Sean Hayes?

Yeah. By the way, we could talk about that whole episode. The, uh, so it premieres Thursday, uh, April 24th, which is just around the corner, and new episodes released every Thursday. You guys, I'm so happy you guys are doing this. It's very exciting. Please tell, uh, cause I fucking do a horrible job. Please tell us what it's about.

• 0:51Speaker 01

Wait, look, this is so exciting. You, you are one of our Pod Fathers. It's like, I guess in our contract, you've requested we call you that. So we're so, we're so excited to be part of this-

• 1:00Sean Hayes?

Acting like you, like it's not in the contract.

• 1:01Speaker 01

Yeah, right. All right. Sorry. We're supposed to keep that up too.

• 1:04Speaker 02

Now I, now I can call you daddy in another frame of reference.

• 1:09Speaker 01

Now I call you daddy in front of other people.

• 1:11Sean Hayes?

Yeah. If I had a dollar. Okay. Yeah. Tell us.

• 1:14Speaker 02

So it's basically John and I were, have been best friends and comedy partners for a long, long time. And we hosted a, a travel show called 101 Places to Party Before You Die. It was John Max and, uh-

• 1:24Sean Hayes?

  Yes, it's awesome.

• 1:25Speaker 02

We, we like to indulge and we kinda live by this lifestyle of like when in Rome and oftentimes that Rome is Las Vegas. So it's like, we, we tend to get down and we find ourselves kinda growing up a little bit and thinking, well-

• 1:40Speaker 01

We're in our early 40s now and like you do have to counteract-

• 1:44Speaker 02

Speak for yourself, John. Early 40s.

• 1:46Speaker 01

Are you mid 40s? Are you calling yourself mid 40s?

• 1:48Speaker 02

  No, I'm 29. I just turned 29.

• 1:50Sean Hayes?

That's, that's how the term mid started, right?

• 1:53Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:53Speaker 01

Yeah, I'm emphasis on the mid over here.

• 1:56Speaker 02

I'm tech avail to play Sam Freed.

• 2:00Sean Hayes?

  I'm on ice.

• 2:00Speaker 02

I'm on ice. I'm on ice for Sam Freed. Put a pin in me.

• 2:04Speaker 01

I'm trying to play Jack Black's before pictures, so I'm-

• 2:10Speaker 02

So we, we, we took an interest, we, we both have an interest in staying alive as long as we can.

• 2:15Sean Hayes?

It's so good. You know, it's so, it's such a thing that you, all of a sudden you try to, you find yourself talking about, right?

• 2:20Speaker 02

  Everybody.

• 2:21Sean Hayes?

You know, right. And your thirt- in your twenties and thirties, there's this part, you eat whatever you want, you drink whatever you want, you do go anywhere, you do anybody you want. Like anything, anything that brings like pleasure or whatever. And then all of a sudden you find yourself.

• 2:33Speaker 01

  With lower back pain.

• 2:35Sean Hayes?

Yeah, exactly. You're like, you talk to your, hey man, what's going on with it? Do you have this problem too? Like, does it hurt when you pee? Or like whatever it is, right? And you start talking about it. I noticed that too. It's like.

• 2:46Speaker 01

And part of the impetus to the show was, we wanted to talk to health and wellness professionals to learn more and bring that information to other people. But also, once you're a certain age, all your conversations with even comics, if you're not shit talking another comic. The thing you're talking about is like, have you started taking fish oil yet? Are you doing vitamin C tablets?

• 3:05Sean Hayes?

What are you streaming and what's wrong with you physically?

• 3:07Speaker 01

  Yes, exactly.

• 3:08Sean Hayes?

  What are you watching?

• 3:09Speaker 01

How are your streams? Your piss and your movies?

• 3:13Sean Hayes?

  Right, exactly.

• 3:14Speaker 02

  Weak, all of them weak.

• 3:16Speaker 01

  Dribbly.

• 3:16Speaker 02

  Dribbly.

• 3:17Sean Hayes?

So can you tell us like one of the things that was the most, I know you probably get asked this a lot. But one of, one of the most eye opening things are the things that you implement now more than ever.

• 3:27Speaker 02

Well, I mean, it, it runs the gamut from like, you know, we had, um, an immunologist on from the NIH, uh, who.

• 3:35Sean Hayes?

  Oh, wow.

• 3:36Speaker 02

Told us one of the simple things you can do is add, uh, I'm gonna say it wrong, but cru- cruciferous.

• 3:42Speaker 01

  You got it.

• 3:43Speaker 02

  Cruciferous vegetables into your diet.

• 3:45Speaker 01

And now we use that word like just to kind of be big dog you a little bit, Sean, but that means broccoli and cauliflower. We're so happy to have learned it that we bring it up in every conversation.

• 3:55Speaker 02

She was like, those are the, those are the vegetables that are really worth.

• 3:58Sean Hayes?

What do you mean? Like, what do you mean? Like if you just eat those, you're good?

• 4:01Speaker 01

  They're, they're nutrient dense.

• 4:03Speaker 02

They're nutrient dense and they're worth it to add to your diet.

• 4:06Speaker 01

If you're not eating them, get them.

• 4:07Speaker 02

So a general physician would say, okay, like, uh, if you're ordering Chinese food, chicken and broccoli is not a bad order because you're getting broccoli, you know?

• 4:16Sean Hayes?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 4:17Speaker 02

  You know?

• 4:18Sean Hayes?

  Okay, very good.

• 4:19Speaker 02

It's it's simple things, you know, on that level.

• 4:21Speaker 01

But then we also had like a friend on who, uh, Elna, who told us that salvia can transport you to the quantum realm and you can experience true formlessness. Now, I don't know if I'm gonna bring that into my routine, my health routine, adding some rips of salvia. But this is the kind of information you can get.

• 4:37Sean Hayes?

Yeah. Yeah, I love that. It's everything I'm for because I, I, I need it. The other day, literally just a week ago, Will Arnett said to me, I said, he goes, what'd you do yesterday? And I was like, well, I had this lunch with an agent of mine and then, and he goes, lunch? And I go, yeah, I like to keep my dinners free. And he goes, from what? Vegetables? I never eat that.

• 4:56Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 4:57Speaker 01

I know it's crazy that I'm in my, uh, but I have super late twenties and I'm being told eat more vegetables. And I'm taking that as like, holy shit, I haven't really considered that.

• 5:05Speaker 02

Yeah, I mean, I add it in juice. Like, that's just like the way that I'm getting it is now like in a juice form.

• 5:12Speaker 01

Yeah, I, I stuff a cauliflower into my blunt.

• 5:17Speaker 02

  That's my filter.

• 5:18Sean Hayes?

Did you say into your butt?

• 5:19Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 5:20Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, well, there's always one, there's already one there.

• 5:22Speaker 02

Yeah, he's gotta get his remote control out of there first.

• 5:25Speaker 01

  My vibrating, my vibrating cauliflower.

• 5:29Speaker 01

That only Adam has the remote to.

• 5:31Sean Hayes?

All right, we're gonna listen to the trailer really quick. Here we go.

• 5:33Speaker 01

Listen up, podcast fans. Joe Rogan, Theo Von, Tim Dillon, won't be on our show at all.

• 5:39Speaker 02

  They've said no.

• 5:40Speaker 01

  They've said no.

• 5:41Speaker 02

  Because of our beliefs.

• 5:46Speaker 01

  That's Adam Pally.

• 5:48Speaker 02

  That's John Gabrus.

• 5:49Speaker 01

And we are the co-hosts of Smartless Media's new podcast called Staying Alive.

• 5:54Speaker 02

That's right. Staying Alive, our new health and wellness podcast that is neither for the healthy or well.

• 6:00Speaker 01

Well, it's maybe for health by health.

• 6:05Sean Hayes?

We'll have guests like our friend, actor Jerry O'Connell. Pally, you are looking good.

• 6:09Speaker 02

  Thank you.

• 6:09Sean Hayes?

I've seen you not looking good and you're looking good.

• 6:12Speaker 02

  Thank you, Jay.

• 6:12Speaker 01

You're not the first guest to say, I've seen you look worse.

• 6:16Speaker 01

Comedian Paul Scheer. I love the cold plunge. I, I

• 6:19Speaker 02

  Found a lot of success.

• 6:20Speaker 01

Do you have one in your house?

• 6:21Speaker 02

I do. I also flooded my house with it, but that's why it's outside then.

• 6:25Speaker 01

  It's outside.

• 6:26Speaker 02

  Ketamine therapist, Dr. Steven Radoits.

• 6:28Speaker 03

It's like called spiritual herd immunity. Now, when you're in this place, I start to see through those things.

• 6:32Speaker 02

I believe in spiritual herd immunity because I'm a spiritual anti-vaxxer.

• 6:36Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 6:37Speaker 02

So I think that that's kind of the only way.

• 6:40Speaker 01

Ego wodum talking to us about how she hates breakfast.

• 6:44Speaker 04

Here's my thing is I'm not, I don't have an appetite in the morning because I'm eating up until the minute I close my eyes.

• 6:52Speaker 04

  And I'm serious.

• 6:53Speaker 02

  Cardiologist, Dr. Amar Shear.

• 6:55Speaker 03

Stress, actually, it affects the blood pressure. So as much as you can kind of reduce your stress.

• 7:00Speaker 02

And it's chill to do coke, right?

• 7:03Speaker 03

  Definitely don't do coke.

• 7:04Speaker 02

Okay, all right, not chill to do coke.

• 7:06Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 7:06Speaker 01

  Jillian Bell.

• 7:07Speaker 02

I think it's natural also for our age too, like Jillian's 25 and you and I.

• 7:12Speaker 05

  I'm a hard 25.

• 7:13Speaker 02

  You're a hard 25. Yeah, you've lived a life.

• 7:15Speaker 05

  I'm a rough.

• 7:16Speaker 02

  And I'm a road hard 34.

• 7:17Speaker 01

And I'm not that hard and 43.

• 7:21Speaker 02

And so many more, so many more.

• 7:23Speaker 01

You know, Adam and I, we may not be wellness experts, but I can tell you this, we are curious freaks who love to talk about this shit.

• 7:29Speaker 02

And we've done enough harm to our bodies to know that now's the time to maybe make a change.

• 7:35Speaker 01

Yeah, we can't say we can make a U-turn in our lives, but at least we could pump the brakes a little.

• 7:39Speaker 02

  And maybe make a left.

• 7:42Speaker 01

Hey, two wrongs don't make a left.

• 7:45Speaker 02

  Right.

• 7:46Speaker 01

  Correct.

• 7:48Speaker 02
