The silliest? This guy came up to me and he was like, "You shouldn't say you know what I mean, because they don't know what you mean."

• 1:52Drew Afualo?

  Damn.

• 1:59Drew Afualo?

Hey everyone and welcome back to another episode of the comment section show starring me, your fave, who cares about me, on to the guest. Today, we have yet another all-star episode with the one, the only, the hilarious, the gorgeous, the stunning, oh my god, so many adjectives, Grace Amaku.

• 2:18Speaker 05

You're making me feel so good.

• 2:20Drew Afualo?

Oh my god, you're so welcome. That's, that's the goal.

• 2:23Speaker 05

  You're my Valentine.

• 2:24Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I would love to be. Lady Valentines.

• 2:28Speaker 05

Thank you. I literally posted my Valentine pic today. I don't care. It's Valentine the whole month.

• 2:33Drew Afualo?

  It's okay. The time's a construct. It doesn't matter.

• 2:36Speaker 05

  Honestly.

• 2:36Drew Afualo?

Me and Grace, we go way back.

• 2:38Speaker 05

  We do.

• 2:39Drew Afualo?

You and I. You were like one of my first, first influencer friends.

• 2:42Speaker 05

  Yeah?

• 2:42Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, for real.

• 2:43Speaker 05

And boy, they be dropping like flies.

• 2:47Drew Afualo?

Yeah, you gotta be real careful. That roster gets smaller every year, huh? Don't let it be an election year.

• 2:54Speaker 05

Who's calling my phone? Who's calling my... Oh my gosh. I said, who, Trump, oh lord. And it's like, sometimes you know.

• 3:04Drew Afualo?

Right. Sometimes, I feel like you, yeah, you get this. Sometimes you know, but you're hoping for the best. You're like, I, I, I feel like I know and I hope you prove me wrong. And then when they don't, you're like, ah, see, I knew.

• 3:17Speaker 05

  And then I also, I'm like, I'm so open-minded.

• 3:22Drew Afualo?

  I'm so empathetic to others.

• 3:24Speaker 05

I never put anybody in a box. I wouldn't want that to happen to me. Man, put me in a box.

• 3:30Drew Afualo?

I joke all the time about how you are one of the funniest people I've literally ever met. But I was just telling Dylan, because I had Dylan on earlier, I was just telling her that hanging out with you, I feel like what people describe hanging out with Will Ferrell's like, which is you could just never tell if it's a bit or if it's for real. You can never tell with Grace.

• 3:50Speaker 05

  Will Ferrell for real. Okay.

• 3:53Drew Afualo?

  See what I mean?

• 3:53Speaker 05

  I should be a lyricist.

• 3:54Drew Afualo?

That's the shit I'm talking about.

• 3:55Speaker 05

I should be a lyricist. Honestly, and I, and I think about it, I'm like, because I'm like trying to find a new manager right now.

• 4:02Drew Afualo?

  Okay.

• 4:02Speaker 05

  Because I'm actually rebranding.

• 4:04Drew Afualo?

Okay, T, love that for you.

• 4:05Speaker 05

T, I, I decided I needed to take my, my content creator career seriously.

• 4:14Drew Afualo?

You've done a really, really fantastic job if you haven't been taking it seriously. If you, if this is you just free balling, that's crazy. You're doing great.

• 4:23Speaker 05

  It is.

• 4:25Speaker 05

  But like so.

• 4:25Drew Afualo?

  That's because you're a comedian.

• 4:27Speaker 05

Right. So that was my goal.

• 4:29Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 4:29Speaker 05

  Comedy.

• 4:30Drew Afualo?

It's always been your goal, which I've known.

• 4:32Speaker 05

Yeah. So even before I was a nurse.

• 4:34Drew Afualo?

  Mm hmm.

• 4:35Speaker 05

So, yeah, and when I'm looking for managers and I'm like, how do I explain to them my career?

• 4:43Speaker 05

It just doesn't make them like, I'm a creator for the Oscars, but I also speak for Forbes, but like, my views, like, they come and go, you know what I'm saying? Then there was the meet and greet.

• 4:53Drew Afualo?

And it's also one of those things where you're an artist who fell into making content.

• 4:58Speaker 05

  Yes.

• 4:58Drew Afualo?

That's, that's, and that tends to happen with a lot of the people I've had on my show too, who are like, they, they are artists who just so happened to go viral.

• 5:06Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 5:06Drew Afualo?

And then it's like, and then it's just that never ending balance of like, no, I am a creator, but I've also been doing this longer. Like it's, they're just kind of working, they sometimes work at odds, which is annoying.

• 5:18Speaker 05

Yeah, no, because like people, they're, they're just now trying to respect the content creators, but.

• 5:24Drew Afualo?

  For real. And even that's.

• 5:25Speaker 05

They're like, wait, what is? They always just want to know how we get money. I'm like.

• 5:30Drew Afualo?

Which is the least interesting thing I think about what it is we do.

• 5:33Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 5:33Drew Afualo?

Yeah, the money is interesting, sure, but like, it's, it's the shit we get to do that fascinates me.

• 5:38Speaker 05

  Literally.

• 5:38Drew Afualo?

I'm like, damn, you guys really want me in there, huh?

• 5:40Speaker 05

All right. I can get money anywhere. I can get money. I go to McDonald's, get some money right now.

• 5:47Drew Afualo?

Sometimes I think to myself, I'm like, I, you guys want me there? All right. I mean, I'll go.

• 5:52Speaker 05

Oh, ri- right. I mean, the pop out and I, and then like, and okay, so I, sometimes I feel bad because I'm like, okay, it's kind of imposter syndrome, but don't worry about that, isn't it? Um, but like, because there's other creators and I'm like, they would probably be better for this.

• 6:10Drew Afualo?

That is your imposter syndrome. I can tell you that confidently.

• 6:12Speaker 05

  Oh, yeah.

• 6:13Drew Afualo?

That's what that is for you.

• 6:14Speaker 05

And I sit in it. I sit in it. Okay.

• 6:17Drew Afualo?

But you are doing, you've been doing stand up for a while.

• 6:21Speaker 05

  Mm hmm.

• 6:21Drew Afualo?

And is stand up what you've always wanted to do? Or do you want to do acting or porque no los dos? Do you just want to do both?

• 6:27Speaker 05

  Hmm. Porque. Dos.

• 6:31Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, dos. Yeah.

• 6:32Speaker 05

  Por favor.

• 6:34Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 6:35Speaker 05

  Losiento.

• 6:35Drew Afualo?

I, yeah, I think, and you know, I always tell people, like, one of the first times you and I ever hung out was at that ambulance premiere.

• 6:43Speaker 05

  Which was also.

• 6:45Drew Afualo?

Which was ridiculous and we should not have been there.

• 6:47Speaker 05

  We should have.

• 6:47Drew Afualo?

They never should have let us in there.

• 6:49Speaker 05

  Why was Wale following me?

• 6:51Drew Afualo?

So I was like, Wale was a huge fan of Grace.

• 6:54Speaker 05

Like, I was like, come on, Wale. It was our first time meeting.

• 7:00Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 7:00Speaker 05

  It was very humble.

• 7:01Drew Afualo?

And you met Jason Momoa, too.

• 7:02Speaker 05

  Oh, my goodness.

• 7:03Drew Afualo?

Which I loved because you were like, I'm gonna take a lap. And then you came back, you're like, look, and you showed me pictures that you took with it.

• 7:11Drew Afualo?

How long were you gone for? I thought you were only gone for a couple minutes.

• 7:14Speaker 05

  That's all it takes, honey.

• 7:16Drew Afualo?

For Grace, yeah, that is. That's what I, but that's what I love about you. You are like, Grace is one of the most fearless people I've ever met, for many reasons. One of them being like, you truly will walk a party by your fucking self. You don't care at all.

• 7:29Speaker 05

  Oh, yeah.

• 7:30Drew Afualo?

I admire you because I am a fucking bitch when it comes to stuff like that. I tell my, my team all the time, I'm like, can I at least bring two people?

• 7:38Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 7:38Drew Afualo?

  And they're like, no.

• 7:39Speaker 05

  Plus five, please?

• 7:40Drew Afualo?

Yeah, yeah. Okay, last answer, three. And then they're always like, no, you have to go alone. I'm like, fuck, I'm not gonna go then.

• 7:47Speaker 05

  Alone.

• 7:50Drew Afualo?

But Grace doesn't just go alone. Grace makes friends, like, all the famous people in the world wanna be friends with Grace. You remind me a lot of Tiffy. Tiffy's the same way.

• 7:57Speaker 05

  Oh, my gosh, yes.

• 7:57Drew Afualo?

She knows how to work a fucking room. That's her, too.

• 8:00Speaker 05

She's, she's modern day Marilyn Monroe. Fast, oh, Tiffy, you seen this? Call me. Oh, my goodness. And you know what? Having Tiffy as a friend, like, all my guy friends are like, Grace, please, give me one chance. I'm like, I don't know. I don't know.

• 8:19Drew Afualo?

I know me. Me being so judgmental as soon as men talk to me about it, I'm like, why? What do you need?

• 8:23Speaker 05

  Why? What do you, what?

• 8:24Drew Afualo?

  You need something from her?

• 8:25Speaker 05

  Are you okay?

• 8:25Drew Afualo?

  Well, don't.

• 8:26Speaker 05

  Yeah. Back off.

• 8:28Drew Afualo?

  She would hate you.

• 8:29Speaker 05

She would. Not intellectual enough. She's a sapiosexual.

• 8:35Speaker 05

  Hi.

• 8:36Drew Afualo?

Wait, back to your stand up really quick. I'd love to know how that's going and how you like it. Because I'm a, I'm a big scaredy cat of stand up. And you know this. I, I think I've told you. I've been trying to work up to it, but I'm a big scaredy cat.

• 8:47Speaker 05

You'd be a great, um, heck, like, not heckler, but like, crowd work. You'd be great.

• 8:53Drew Afualo?

I think I'd be good at crowd work too. But I also like, I love stand up so much that I want it to be like ninety-eight percent material and then crowd work, yeah, maybe.

• 9:03Speaker 05

Yeah, you'd be amazing at crowd work.

• 9:05Drew Afualo?

  Thank you.

• 9:06Speaker 05

And like on social media, like that's how most comedians are coming up.

• 9:11Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I've seen, I've had a few comics.

• 9:12Speaker 05

  Matt Rife?

• 9:13Drew Afualo?

  Oh, girl.

• 9:14Speaker 05

Back to back to back to back.

• 9:16Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 9:16Speaker 05

Have y'all ever heard him actually do a set? I don't know. That's the question. That's the question.

• 9:22Drew Afualo?

No, ever heard a joke or no, it's just mostly making fun of the audience? Okay, no, for sure.

• 9:26Speaker 05

It's like a druski on stage. Sensational.

• 9:31Drew Afualo?

Yeah, it's already been done before, actually.

• 9:33Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 9:33Drew Afualo?

Uh, which is even by an actual black man.

• 9:37Speaker 05

  He wishes.

• 9:41Drew Afualo?

  Anyways, back to stand up.

• 9:43Speaker 05

  Yeah, literally.

• 9:44Drew Afualo?

Um, I'd love to know how that's going for you, how you like it.

• 9:46Speaker 05

Yeah, I, I mean, I like it, but like same thing, like being a content creator, they don't.

• 9:51Drew Afualo?

Respect you as much as like a stand up?

• 9:54Speaker 05

And it's weird because like people like come up to me and like I bring a lot of people to the audience.

• 9:59Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, totally.

• 9:59Speaker 05

But then they're like, who are you? And I'm like, well, if I make it laugh, isn't that what the job is?

• 10:06Drew Afualo?

Like at the end of the day.

• 10:07Speaker 05

  You gotta get done.

• 10:08Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 10:09Speaker 05

We're getting done. But, uh, my last show was at the Comedy Store, which is like

• 10:12Drew Afualo?

  Love.

• 10:13Speaker 05

The most legit place if you have an L.A. Los Angeles. Come out to the Comedy Store. It's like the like number one comedy club in L.A. So

• 10:24Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 10:24Speaker 05

I was super happy to do that.

• 10:26Drew Afualo?

  Oh, and how'd it go?

• 10:27Speaker 05

It was good. I was definitely nervous. I was stressed out. It was like the week after the wildfires.

• 10:35Drew Afualo?

Yeah, so it's a little harder.

• 10:37Speaker 05

Girl, I couldn't think. But I still, people were like, you're so hard on yourself. I'm like.

• 10:41Drew Afualo?

You are so hard on yourself. That is true. I know that's true. Because you critique yourself far more than you compliment yourself. But you're also an artist and that's what artists do, right? Where do you pull most of your material from, do you think?

• 10:54Speaker 05

Definitely life. And people, like, men see my fro and they don't know how to act. Legitimately, like, it's crazy, like.

• 11:04Drew Afualo?

Start short-circuiting. They look at you.

• 11:08Speaker 05

I want you to be my activist queen. I'm like, no!

• 11:11Drew Afualo?

You know that, like, you know that Dr. Umar audio that's like, at ease, my queen?

• 11:15Speaker 05

At ease, my queen. Beautiful chocolate, melanin goddess.

• 11:19Drew Afualo?

What do you mean you want to eat up the prince?

• 11:25Drew Afualo?

They automatically, they turn into Dr. Umar when they see you.

• 11:29Speaker 05

A hundred percent. They do. And then I'll be, I'll be like, okay, this is what you see right now. But best believe, I'm finna throw on that thirty-inch blonde wig. And they're like, oh, girl, what do you mean? Well, why would you do that to your beautiful African? Your beautiful African. I'm like.

• 11:47Drew Afualo?

You said, don't piss me off.

• 11:50Drew Afualo?

  Enough, enough.

• 11:52Speaker 05

You got, you got two for the price of one. You should be happy.

• 11:59Speaker 05

  Math isn't math.

• 12:01Drew Afualo?

Yeah, no. They never know how to act, do they? They think they know better and then they never know how to act. When it comes to stand-up, speaking of men, do you ever get critiques from men? Unsolicited advice from other comics? Or even the audience? I've heard that too. Like, some female comics that have been on, they're like, literally, audience members will come up to me and try to give me notes.

• 12:19Speaker 05

Yeah. And I'm like, bro, what are you talking about? Like, I'm open to critiques, but like.

• 12:26Drew Afualo?

  Not from a audience member.

• 12:27Speaker 05

I'm like, you don't even know anything about the craft. You don't know anything. So why are you coming up to me telling me I shouldn't be saying something?

• 12:38Drew Afualo?

  Jesus Christ.

• 12:42Drew Afualo?

  Hannah.

• 12:43Speaker 05

Yeah. Make it, yeah. Anxiety, stop!

• 12:49Drew Afualo?

  Anxiety!

• 12:53Speaker 05

I say that like before I go to bed.

• 12:56Drew Afualo?

  You say, anxiety, stop.

• 12:57Speaker 05

  Anxiety, stop.

• 13:04Speaker 05

  That's my lullaby.

• 13:04Drew Afualo?

That's what mine sounds like, too. Just sirens going off like crazy. Just no rhyme or reason. Okay, we were talking about notes, unsolicited notes on your set.

• 13:13Speaker 05

  Yes, anxiety, stop.

• 13:18Drew Afualo?

  That's very true.

• 13:19Speaker 05

  Can't stop it.

• 13:19Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I had one girl, Mary Beth Barone, when she was on my show, she said that some guy followed her out of the club and was like giving her notes on her tags.

• 13:28Speaker 05

  Oh.

• 13:29Drew Afualo?

And then he said, you should be writing this down.

• 13:31Speaker 05

  Oh.

• 13:32Drew Afualo?

And then she said, why would I do that? I thought this was for you. I thought you were just giving me stuff.

• 13:38Speaker 05

She said, what if you don't get your?

• 13:41Drew Afualo?

She's like getting in a car. She's like, oh, I'm not doing that.

• 13:44Speaker 05

  Are you lost? Like?

• 13:46Drew Afualo?

What's the silliest piece of advice you've gotten?

• 13:49Speaker 05

The silliest? This guy came up to me and he was like, you shouldn't say you know what I mean, because they don't know what you mean.

• 14:01Drew Afualo?

  Damn.

• 14:04Drew Afualo?

  He said, well, that's, okay.

• 14:06Speaker 05

A semantic Sammy is what I call him. Semantic Sammy, what?

• 14:12Drew Afualo?

Because some people, I don't want to name names, don't know what you mean. And it's him.

• 14:19Speaker 05

Because I was like, yeah, I came up in the club looking cute. You know what I mean? We don't know what you mean.

• 14:27Drew Afualo?

Hey, buddy, it's just a figure of speech.

• 14:29Speaker 05

  Hello?

• 14:31Speaker 05

So the crowd doesn't know, like, if you say, you know, and they, and they, and they think they're helping.

• 14:38Drew Afualo?

What do you typically say when you get?

• 14:40Speaker 05

Oh, I'm so, oh, I'm so sweet. So passive, so sweet. Grace.

• 14:46Drew Afualo?

  You say, thank you.

• 14:48Speaker 05

  I didn't think about that.

• 14:52Drew Afualo?

  Turn into an anime girl.

• 14:53Speaker 05

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 14:56Drew Afualo?

  Gosh.

• 15:00Drew Afualo?

  You're right.

• 15:03Speaker 05

I'd never see them again. It's crazy.

• 15:06Drew Afualo?

Yeah, that's really all you can do, huh? I had a Paige Gallagher on and she told me that a guy went before her and completely bombed, like didn't get one laugh. Then she went on killed and then the rest of the comics went and then she said at the end, he, the first guy came back and told her, hey, I have a bunch of notes for you. How you could do better? And she goes, well, I mean, the goal was to make people laugh, right? So like I did that.

• 15:30Speaker 05

Yeah, it's like they think they're in a whole nother tier.

• 15:33Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 15:33Speaker 05

But it's like, we are actually in a whole nother tier. They literally, men do not think women are funny.

• 15:39Drew Afualo?

And even if you were to remove some sort of bigotry or prejudice, they don't think online people are funny. Like they think they can't be funny because they were online. They've never actually watched your shit. They've never actually like seen you as a comic, like or even a human. Uh, they see you as some, they see us as like Charli D'Amelio.

• 15:59Speaker 05

They're like, you have OnlyFans? Hmm, I don't have. Just because I'm a woman on the internet doesn't mean I have an OnlyFans.

• 16:06Drew Afualo?

Yeah. That's so real because even when I was trying to move like two years ago, uh, with Billy, we were like touring homes and then I would tell them like, oh, I work online like, and I didn't want to tell them exactly what I did because it's like privacy for whatever reason. Because they're older though, they're like, oh, like they think it's, they think it's sex work, which like, even if it was, who gives a fuck? I have, do you want the money or not? Is what I always say, like.

• 16:36Drew Afualo?

But then like, then I started just telling people outright what I did because I was like, I need you to understand so that you don't get too judgmental before you approve.

• 16:45Speaker 05

  Yeah, you need respect.

• 16:46Drew Afualo?

Yeah, like it's, and even when you're amongst, and I'm sure you've noticed too, because we go to a lot of the same things. Like sometimes when you meet traditional celebrities, they either love you or they think they're so offended that they have to share space with you.

• 16:59Speaker 05

  Oh, my goodness.

• 17:00Drew Afualo?

There's no in between. They either like love online people, they're like, oh my God, I've seen your stuff. Or they are like, I can't believe I have to fucking sit at a table with this person. Which is crazy.

• 17:09Speaker 05

I be thinking about that. I'm like, dang, you really pent up.

• 17:13Drew Afualo?

Man, you're so mad I'm here.

• 17:15Speaker 05

Like, cuz it's like, they had to fit into this little box.

• 17:19Drew Afualo?

  Exactly.

• 17:19Speaker 05

  To become a celebrity, mysterious.

• 17:21Drew Afualo?

  Exactly.

• 17:22Speaker 05

Quiet, private, and I'm over here, who calling my phone?

• 17:27Speaker 05

  At the after-party.

• 17:29Drew Afualo?

Being silly got you in the room. There you go.

• 17:31Speaker 05

  Hello.

• 17:31Drew Afualo?

Sorry. I think that's why too, I've always been like, I'll never turn my back on the internet. Like, even if I move into other forms of entertainment, like you are too. I would never be like, yeah, fuck the internet. I mean, not for those reasons, for other reasons, maybe. But for like, the reasons of like, being ashamed of coming from the internet, I was like, I don't give a fuck.

• 17:52Speaker 05

  I'm not, yeah.

• 17:53Drew Afualo?

It gave me everything I have now. I'm grateful to the internet.

• 17:56Speaker 05

  Extremely grateful.

• 17:57Drew Afualo?

And even like, you said you were a nurse, which we talked about on the very first episode, but that was eons ago.

• 18:03Speaker 05

Twenty twenty-two. I like was signing at the forum today, I said, twenty twenty-four, no, twenty twenty-five, oh my god.

• 18:12Drew Afualo?

  I know, it's been a million years.

• 18:14Speaker 05

  I don't know what's happening.

• 18:17Drew Afualo?

And I think, even with, like, when we talked about it even then, I feel like, it truly has shifted completely in my head, like, how much more respect I have for people who have been able to transcend the internet. So like, that's why I love people like Quinta Brunson, or like Issa.

• 18:33Speaker 05

  Oh, yeah.

• 18:33Drew Afualo?

Who came from the internet and have transcended and still love the internet.

• 18:37Speaker 05

And we're, and we look up to them.

• 18:39Drew Afualo?

I know. They gotta put us on Abbott Elementary.

• 18:42Speaker 05

Oh my, that would be crazy.

• 18:44Drew Afualo?

That would be so great, you and I.

• 18:45Speaker 05

  Let me DM her.

• 18:47Drew Afualo?

Let me go ahead and DM her.

• 18:50Speaker 05

No, this is my year of DMing.

• 18:52Drew Afualo?

  That's actually so real.

• 18:53Speaker 05

  Everybody.

• 18:54Drew Afualo?

  I love that.

• 18:55Speaker 05

I DM, I DM a casting director, I say, hey, put me on. Here's my reel. Here's the password.

• 19:01Drew Afualo?

How have auditions been going for you? I've only done a few.

• 19:04Speaker 05

  It's so hard.

• 19:05Drew Afualo?

  It's so hard.

• 19:06Speaker 05

  After the actor's strike.

• 19:07Drew Afualo?

Yeah, especially. I feel like self-tapes too make me feel like I wanna die, and I wish that wasn't the case.

• 19:15Speaker 05

And there's like, skills to it, and I'm like, do I have to lure?

• 19:20Drew Afualo?

Yeah, cuz you're, you're taking acting classes and stuff. I know you have, and you've told me. Girl, every noise in the fucking world.

• 19:26Speaker 05

  Next is gonna be bears.

• 19:28Drew Afualo?

I know, it's gonna sound like a Bugs Bunny fight out there soon.

• 19:34Speaker 05

Lions, you gotta, you gotta ask me about, uh, my love life.

• 19:39Drew Afualo?

I, I, and trust me, I will, Grace. We talked about it on the first one, too, I remember.

• 19:45Speaker 05

Me not knowing what I'm gonna say, you have to ask me about it.

• 19:50Drew Afualo?

What were we talking about? Reals. Oh, no, acting classes, that's where we were. You're taking them, I would love to know your thoughts on them, because I'm gonna start doing it this year.

• 19:57Speaker 05

Yes, okay, I'm gonna refer you, because

• 19:59Drew Afualo?

  Please do.

• 20:00Speaker 05

It's hard to find good ones. They like to take your money.

• 20:05Drew Afualo?

  And you learn nothing.

• 20:06Speaker 05

Ah, like, for like, three years, I said, wait a minute. Oh my god, there was one school I went to, I almost punched the mic, one school I went to, and like, one of the classes, the scene was, like, there was a doctor and a patient, and the patient was having, um, cramps.

• 20:25Drew Afualo?

  Okay.

• 20:28Speaker 05

And the teacher was like, you're not supposed to show that you're in pain. That was my last class.

• 20:35Drew Afualo?

Hey, I've heard all I needed to hear.

• 20:37Speaker 05

I was like, a man is not gonna tell me how I conduct myself. If I'm on my cycle, oh my goodness, you will not hear the end of it. I'm shouting, I'm scared, and it's like, and, and so that's kinda how it starts, like, how those celebrities tune themselves in order to be in this box, and then I come out saying, ah, I'm screaming, I'm willing, I'm must it on a B, huh, like.

• 21:02Drew Afualo?

I talked to Leo Gonzalez about this, too, like, because we're both, neither of us have ever taken an acting class, but we're going to. And we joked about it on the, on the pod, too, but I was like, I know I'm going to this year, so I, I need to, that's on my list.

• 21:14Speaker 05

  Moana.

• 21:15Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 21:18Speaker 05

  Wakanda forever.

• 21:21Drew Afualo?

Right, well, Disney princesses, Disney princesses, to some extent. Uh, dude, I, can I say?

• 21:29Drew Afualo?

I made a video, uh, talking shit, but in jest, in sillies.

• 21:33Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 21:34Drew Afualo?

Um, saying how like, every someone person I know, which is about fifty of us total, um, all of whom I know personally, went and auditioned for the live-action one, like, they got reads for it and stuff, and then I, I follow all of them, so I saw all of them, and I said, that's so, that's so funny, because I I haven't gotten anything.

• 21:53Speaker 05

  Hey guys.

• 21:54Drew Afualo?

Hey guys, um, quick question. And so I made like a silly joke about it on TikTok and like it, it did well, whatever on TikTok. But then, um, Deadline wrote an article that quoted me and they said, "I'll play Moana's dad if that's what it takes," says Drew Offwallow in Pitch for Moana Live Action Movie. Hey, that sucks. Why would you quote that? I said a lot of other funny things. Why did you quote that one? And then I did actually get a read.

• 22:24Speaker 05

  Period.

• 22:25Drew Afualo?

As an extra. And like, I'm saying this now because I'm pretty confident I didn't get it.

• 22:30Speaker 05

Um, yeah, right. No, right. Cause when the time passes.

• 22:34Drew Afualo?

Oh, yeah. Oh, because they're filming it currently.

• 22:37Speaker 05

It's not the same with the Children of Blood and Bone. I said, oh. Oh.

• 22:42Drew Afualo?

Well, I guess I have a couple of calls to make. So like when I did the read, it was for like three background people. And it was like coconut farmer, angry coconut farmer.

• 22:54Speaker 05

  Yes.

• 22:55Drew Afualo?

  Fisherman number three.

• 22:56Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 22:56Drew Afualo?

And I was vying for Fisherman.

• 22:58Speaker 05

  Yes.

• 22:58Drew Afualo?

Cause he had the most lines. And yes, I said he, because all three of them were written for men and they said, we don't have any more female parts. Do you care about reading for these? I said, not at all. I'll do them all.

• 23:07Speaker 05

  It's like a ponytail.

• 23:10Drew Afualo?

It's all the same at the end of the day. If I turn around topless, I'll look like the Rock from the Back. Can't tell the difference between me and Maui.

• 23:19Speaker 05

  Away, away.

• 23:25Drew Afualo?

And so I did the reads and I, I sent them all in and like, um,

• 23:31Speaker 05

  Never heard back.

• 23:32Drew Afualo?

So, but the funny part is I was talking to someone else about it at like an AAPI event, like last May. And I was like, oh yeah, I did a couple of reads for this. And then he goes, oh my God, yeah, they started filming. That's true. And then I go, they did. And I was telling my sister later, I was like, well, it's really heartbreaking to hear. No, that's totally great. Um, I'll be right back if you'll excuse me. It's like, hopefully I got it. They already started filming.

• 23:59Speaker 05

  They already started filming.

• 24:00Drew Afualo?

  Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 24:01Speaker 05

Like it's, it's such an interesting industry because it's like, it's not even rejection at that point. Like there's no expectations.

• 24:07Drew Afualo?

It's ghosting, really. You just get ghosted, which is, you know what?

• 24:13Speaker 05

And then like it's so out of your hands.

• 24:16Drew Afualo?

I know that and that's honestly, I think what's made me feel better about it, like talking to other people who have done reads like you. Other of my friends who are also auditioning. It's like even one of my friends recently told me, she's like, sometimes it's truly just like what they were picturing. You don't look like. So she was saying, so they'll, I've seen, I've been in rooms because she's like worked as like a writer and stuff for a long time. She's like, I've been in rooms where like showrunners will watch real like self tapes. The first five seconds, they're like, no, because it's just not who they pictured. And that's what that honestly makes me feel better.

• 24:49Speaker 05

  Right.

• 24:49Drew Afualo?

Because it's so subjective. It's not really like a skill issue. It's more of a like, yeah, I wasn't picturing you. Which I'm sure sometimes it is a skill issue, but that's what I'm going to tell myself.

• 25:00Speaker 05

But sometimes you can tell like the actors, they be so curated.

• 25:04Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, exactly.

• 25:05Speaker 05

  Y'all pick the most cartoon.

• 25:07Drew Afualo?

I know. And I feel bored. Like I think about things like Bridgerton, right? And I think about part of the draw to something like Bridgerton is the fact, which by the way, I think Grace would kill it in a Bridgerton. I think you would kill it because you're so good at accents too, but also just think you would absolutely murder in that kind of role. Shonda Rhimes, if you're watching this.

• 25:28Speaker 05

  Shonda, please.

• 25:32Drew Afualo?

Even something like Bridgerton has a lot of draw because the characters don't look like what they typically look like. Same thing with like even like something like Hamilton. They don't look like what they typically look like. In my head, when I read books or shit like that. I'm picturing me.

• 25:45Speaker 05

  Period.

• 25:46Drew Afualo?

I don't give a fuck how pale they say that bitch is.

• 25:48Speaker 05

  Hello.

• 25:48Drew Afualo?

Or how tiny and small. I'm picturing me.

• 25:51Speaker 05

Because I think it's so empowering to like, because those stories, they create me.

• 26:00Speaker 05

I always have this white lady that's saving everybody. I say, since when?

• 26:06Drew Afualo?

  Hey, since when?

• 26:07Speaker 05

The like tiniest white girls always saving everyone. And I say, you know what? Y'all can have it. Y'all look, y'all got, y'all got the systemic power right now. Y'all have it.

• 26:17Speaker 05

If I was in systemic power, I would, but it would make more sense if a black woman is saving. And that's what they

• 26:21Drew Afualo?

  I agree.

• 26:22Speaker 05

Like, think of like A Quiet Place, the, the most recent one they made. Lupita Nyong'o had cancer. And she saved everybody.

• 26:32Drew Afualo?

Yeah, they're, they're gonna do it.

• 26:34Speaker 05

  Medicine.

• 26:34Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 26:35Speaker 05

  I said.

• 26:39Speaker 05

  Hollywood.

• 26:41Drew Afualo?

Right, for real. That's what I, and that's why I think creators moving over into that world in a way where they're like you and I are, we're like, that's what we really want to do. We just fell into content creation, which is fine. But that's what we're, where we're headed. That's what we would like to be. I, that's why I think the internet is so important because otherwise, like, we would never get seen. They would never pick us. Like, if we didn't force people to look at us, they would never look at us.

• 27:04Speaker 05

You're gonna look at me. I'm so talented and I'm charming.

• 27:11Drew Afualo?

  Which is half the battle.

• 27:12Speaker 05

  Bro.

• 27:13Drew Afualo?

  It's literally charming people.

• 27:14Speaker 05

Literally talking to Jordan the Stallion.

• 27:17Drew Afualo?

  Yes.

• 27:17Speaker 05

And I was telling him, I was like, people talk about like talent and like money. Charm?

• 27:24Drew Afualo?

  Worth its weight in gold.

• 27:25Speaker 05

Make me sweat, make me hotter.

• 27:31Drew Afualo?

  It's true.

• 27:32Speaker 05

  It's so powerful.

• 27:33Drew Afualo?

It is so powerful. That's why I said you're just like Tevye. That's why I said you remind me of Tevye. Like, that's half the fucking battle is literally, um, getting people to like you. And like, and you know this too, sometimes when people are considering you for things, they're like, oh, can we all hop on a call? And I've told my family before, like, that's literally just to see if I'm an asshole.

• 27:52Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 27:52Drew Afualo?

Like, they just want to meet me and make sure I don't fucking suck. And then they're like, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, yeah. Like, because the calls are five minutes and pointless.

• 27:59Speaker 05

  Right.

• 27:59Drew Afualo?

But it's just so I can get on there and be like.

• 28:02Speaker 05

  What's good, y'all?

• 28:02Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, I was like.

• 28:03Speaker 05

  Y'all wanna see my puppy?

• 28:05Drew Afualo?

I get on there, is this thing on? I start doing a type five. And then they're like, yeah, yeah, yeah, I love her.

• 28:14Drew Afualo?

I've said that too, because recently I've been doing a lot of hosting gigs and I, I feel like because I, my hosting gigs go on TikTok and reels or whatever, sometimes I'll get like feedback on how I can host better. Right, right, right.

• 28:27Speaker 05

  You need that.

• 28:29Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I do. I always ask someone who has no idea what they're doing, how to do my job better. I always do that. That's the first thing I do.

• 28:36Speaker 05

  That's what you need.

• 28:38Drew Afualo?

I need to learn how to take criticism. Alright. And I was telling people that when they hire us to do stuff like that, go to things or whatever, it's literally not to just stand there and be a prop. Like, they want you to be.

• 28:51Speaker 05

  Personality hires.

• 28:51Drew Afualo?

They like the personality. Yeah. So they're like, no, we want to show your personality. I want that to be evident. And I've told people like, I can charm the pants off anybody. And like, you can too.

• 29:01Speaker 05

  Real recognize real.

• 29:05Drew Afualo?

I saw, I just remembered too, when you posted with Cynthia Revo and Ariana Grande.

• 29:11Speaker 05

  My gosh.

• 29:13Drew Afualo?

Grace, you piss me off dude. The fact that she always does, she's like, with anybody, doesn't matter how famous.

• 29:20Speaker 05

Anybody. Okay, so this is what happened, right?

• 29:23Drew Afualo?

Yeah, please tell me about that.

• 29:24Speaker 05

So, we were in London for the Wicked premiere.

• 29:26Drew Afualo?

  Yes.

• 29:27Speaker 05

And they, they were like teasing at like, maybe they would come. And since I know like the TikTok team, I know what they, when they on, when they're serious. I said, they coming. They are coming, no doubt about it.

• 29:41Speaker 05

So, um, I, they, but we didn't know when they were gonna come, so they like, all, took us all from the hotel we were staying at, which was a five star hotel to like, a like, hotel that looks like a castle.

• 29:51Drew Afualo?

Wait, I know the hotel you're staying at. You filmed with Markel. That's where you filmed your wig video. Okay, I stayed in that hotel too. It's fucking nice.

• 29:58Speaker 05

  It's so nice.

• 30:00Drew Afualo?

I've stayed in that same one.

• 30:01Speaker 05

Girl, this man knocked on my door talking about what you doing tonight.

• 30:09Drew Afualo?

He said, you and a little something else. Probably a little extra too.

• 30:13Speaker 05

It was when Markel was in the room. I was literally in a robe. I was like, I'm filming with my friend. I said, he probably think I do OnlyFans.

• 30:22Drew Afualo?

  With Markel?

• 30:25Speaker 05

  Alright, child.

• 30:29Drew Afualo?

We love Markel. Markel, we fucking love you.

• 30:31Speaker 05

  We love you.

• 30:32Drew Afualo?

Okay, so finished you were telling me about Wicked?

• 30:34Speaker 05

So we got to the castle, basically, Castle Hotel. And we were making our TikToks running around. There was a little step and repeat that said wicked on it. And then all of a sudden, they come out from around the corner. Everybody screaming, everybody got their phones out. My phone is in my bag. Cause I decided I wanted to be off my phone. So I'm over here struggling, opening my bag. I'm like screaming. The team is like, the TikTok team is recording us, like, and I'm like, in the videos, like, trying to open my bag. Everyone's recording that. Anyway, so we all line up and they're like, you have like 10 seconds to shoot with them. I said, 10 seconds? I said, mm.

• 31:12Drew Afualo?

I know what I'm gonna do.

• 31:16Speaker 05

Huh, that's even more time than I need.

• 31:21Drew Afualo?

  That's seven seconds too long.

• 31:25Speaker 05

So it's my turn. I get up to them. I'm like, hey, guys, it's so nice to meet you. Cynthia, I love you. Ariana, I love you. We're gonna do like a video where we've we pose like masculine and then we're gonna end feminine. And Cynthia was like, alright, absolutely. And Ariana was like, what?

• 31:48Drew Afualo?

They're not knowing at all what you're talking about.

• 31:50Speaker 05

I was like, Ariana, please, we got this, we got this, we got this. And so in the video, you can tell Ariana was still was still trying to get the vibe.

• 31:59Drew Afualo?

She was trying to follow your lead.

• 32:00Speaker 05

She was trying to get the vibe. And I could have explained it better, possibly. But we had 10 seconds.

• 32:05Drew Afualo?

Yeah, and when they say 10 seconds, they mean fucking 10 seconds. Like, literally. I talked to only Cynthia at the LA Wicked premiere for like hosting stuff, but they said, one question, one question.

• 32:18Speaker 05

  Okay.

• 32:18Drew Afualo?

Only one question. And I was like, yeah, I heard you the first time. When I went to the Globes, dude, I was standing on the the others. They'll literally shoot me dead if I go on the other side of that shrub. Like, the shrub that's in all the videos, like, they will kill me. So I was standing on the other side of it before carpet opened. Because I was like, you know, there's no room anywhere and I'm really close to everyone. So I was standing on the other side and then she this girl starts walking past me. She comes back, she goes.

• 32:50Speaker 00

Welcome to 215 Maple Drive. We just put this property on the market.

No FiOS, but it looks like it's got cable. Let's check out the kitchen.

• 33:09Speaker 01

No FiOS? Yeah, no, thank you.

• 33:12Speaker 00

Don't you want to see the rest? Okay, bye-bye.

• 33:15Speaker 02

• 33:52Drew Afualo?

Are you pressed? And I go, yes, I am. I'm within style. She goes, behind the shrub. I was like, oh, okay. No, I know. I was just standing over here because it's kind of crowded. So I was waiting till carpet opens. Well, it's 2:30 and carpet opened at 2:00. Behind the fucking shrub. Right? And then I go, all right. And I go, so behind the shrub? Not one laugh. She could not. If she could have killed me with her eyes, she would have. And I said, oh, okay. Well, I'll go ahead and get behind that shrub, girl.

• 34:22Speaker 05

  Thank you, sweetie.

• 34:23Drew Afualo?

  Thank you.

• 34:23Speaker 05

Needed that. Needed that. That's the best, though. I love it. I did that yesterday at the airport. They're like, you need to talk to that agent. I say, that agent?

• 34:36Drew Afualo?

That's like so great. You're so me, dude.

• 34:41Speaker 05

  Because she started it. No.

• 34:44Drew Afualo?

So deeply unserious. Like, Grace is so deeply unserious about so many things, which is one of the things I love most about you, other than how fucking hilarious you are. But my sister literally texted me and said, please bring up the video that you filmed with Markel where your wig flew off.

• 35:01Speaker 05

Oh, yeah. I was gonna say. And I was like, Markel,

• 35:08Speaker 05

he was so quick to want to post it. I said, wait, let me just get my makeup on. So we refil. That was actually like refilm number like three or four. Yeah, at that point.

• 35:19Drew Afualo?

The way Markel falls back and hits the bed and just bounces right off.

• 35:22Speaker 05

And he did that every single time. He's so energetic.

• 35:27Drew Afualo?

He's, he's got so much energy.

• 35:30Speaker 05

He's must be an Olympic gymnast or something.

• 35:32Drew Afualo?

He has to be. In another life, he could be.

• 35:34Speaker 05

  Yes.

• 35:35Drew Afualo?

In this life, he could be. When I had him on, he was all over the place. He was telling me, he's like, oh, girl, I'm going to Taylor Swift tomorrow with Charlie. And I go, really? He goes, yeah. He goes, I don't know much about that white girl, but I'm gonna have fun.

• 35:51Speaker 05

Literally, everybody loves, like, he is, when you, when you talk about charmer, he is like.

• 35:56Drew Afualo?

  The one.

• 35:57Speaker 05

Number one. I remember when we were at the premiere and they were like pushing everyone away, like the lady was like, this is only for this area. And so we, he was like hiding behind like one, a podium in the building, waiting for Ariana's boyfriend to come out so he could get a video with him. And he, he got it. He just gets, he gets that, like.

• 36:21Drew Afualo?

  He always gets it.

• 36:22Speaker 05

  No fear.

• 36:23Drew Afualo?

  No, not at all.

• 36:24Speaker 05

  Runs up to these people.

• 36:25Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I saw him at In the Mix, TikTok In the Mix in Arizona.

• 36:28Speaker 05

  Oh, yeah.

• 36:29Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I saw him backstage after I finished working. And he was like, oh, girl, I'm here because I know Cardi's coming here. And I go, yeah, they were telling me no one's really going up to her or they're not allowed to. And he goes, oh, I know, but I just hang out.

• 36:41Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 36:42Drew Afualo?

I was like, and he met her. So, joke's on me.

• 36:46Speaker 05

  He's so cool. I wish.

• 36:49Drew Afualo?

That's how I feel when I see your stuff too. I'm like, Grace, what are you?

• 36:52Speaker 05

  Grace, get down from there.

• 36:55Drew Afualo?

  Get down from there.

• 36:58Drew Afualo?

I, I have to remember, I wanted to remember to bring this up. One time Grace texts me out of the blue, just a picture of her smiling with a chipped tooth. No context. Like none at all. And I said, Grace, what does this mean?

• 37:10Speaker 05

You didn't pick up your FaceTime.

• 37:12Drew Afualo?

Oh, that's right. You picked FaceTime me.

• 37:14Speaker 05

So you should have picked it up.

• 37:16Drew Afualo?

And then I said, Grace, what does this mean? And I said, are you okay? And then you didn't text me back for hours. And then when you did, you're like, oh, yeah, no big deal. Grace, what the fuck are you talking about? What are you talking about?

• 37:28Speaker 05

What are you talking about? Doesn't it make life more? Doesn't it make life more?

• 37:33Drew Afualo?

Every time you text me, I know it's gonna be insane, whatever.

• 37:37Speaker 05

  Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.

• 37:38Drew Afualo?

Or it's gonna be a picture of you with someone. I'm like, what are you doing with that person?

• 37:43Speaker 05

  Get down from there.

• 37:47Speaker 05

That was the day of the Hunger Games premiere.

• 37:50Drew Afualo?

You chipped your tooth at the Hunger Games premiere?

• 37:52Speaker 05

  The night before, the carpet.

• 37:56Drew Afualo?

  How?

• 37:58Speaker 05

  On a chicken wang.

• 37:59Drew Afualo?

  Really?

• 38:00Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 38:01Drew Afualo?

  Damn.

• 38:02Speaker 05

Patrick Mahomes' wife probably would have guessed that.

• 38:05Drew Afualo?

  Fried chicken.

• 38:06Speaker 05

  Fried chicken.

• 38:10Speaker 05

Chicken fried steak. Um, no, tacos.

• 38:16Drew Afualo?

Both wrong answers, by the way. That's your husband. That's my man.

• 38:19Speaker 05

  My man, my man.

• 38:23Speaker 05

  Ah, chicken.

• 38:24Drew Afualo?

So you chipped your tooth on a chicken wang?

• 38:27Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 38:28Drew Afualo?

How about just eating too, just got too into it?

• 38:32Speaker 05

  Oh, I mean.

• 38:33Drew Afualo?

  Just enjoying myself.

• 38:35Speaker 05

At this point, I should probably get it done well. I don't know. Uh, but yeah, I was like, this is the night I'm gonna meet Viola Davis and everyone compares me to Viola Davis. Why not make it good?

• 38:49Drew Afualo?

  I'm gonna chip my tooth.

• 38:50Speaker 05

It was such a hectic. Every day is, every day is a winding road. Like, legit.

• 38:59Drew Afualo?

That's why I said you're, you are so fantastical in so many ways. That's like the only word I can think to describe you. Cause it's not like awful, but it is insane.

• 39:11Drew Afualo?

It's crazy and unpredictable, but it's not bad. It's just a lot.

• 39:15Speaker 05

  It's just a lot.

• 39:16Drew Afualo?

  That's what I said.

• 39:18Speaker 05

  Literally a lot.

• 39:20Drew Afualo?

That's why I'm always like, are you okay? I feel like I texted Grace that so many times. Are you okay? She's like, yeah, why wouldn't I be?

• 39:27Speaker 05

Yeah, why wouldn't I? Of course. I mean.

• 39:31Speaker 05

  Chip my tooth, but like.

• 39:32Drew Afualo?

But other than that, I'm chilling. Oh, about.

• 39:35Speaker 05

  Breathe better now.

• 39:36Drew Afualo?

  Right?

• 39:37Speaker 05

  With one less tooth.

• 39:38Drew Afualo?

No, there you go. A lot more air in there. You said mouth breathing's never been easier.

• 39:43Speaker 05

  Okay.

• 39:44Drew Afualo?

  Women in STEM.

• 39:45Speaker 05

  Women.

• 39:47Drew Afualo?

When it comes to acting, what would you say is like a dream, like show, role, anything like that?

• 39:54Speaker 05

  Wakanda forever.

• 39:59Drew Afualo?

It's happening. What's happening to me?

• 40:03Speaker 05

Hello, Drew. It's me again. No, I would, I know I would eat that up and I got the physique for it.

• 40:11Drew Afualo?

Right. Anything Marvel, because Grace is jacked. You're jacked, bro. And I mean that very literally.

• 40:17Speaker 05

I started jujitsu with Vinnie Hacker.

• 40:20Drew Afualo?

  I saw that.

• 40:21Speaker 05

  That's.

• 40:21Drew Afualo?

See what I mean? That's the shit I'm talking about. I'm like, what do you mean you're doing jujitsu with Vinnie Hacker? What are you talking about?

• 40:29Speaker 05

He posted on his story looking for a studio and then there's this guy that owns a studio and he's in love with me. So I was like, oh.

• 40:38Drew Afualo?

So I said, hey, I got a guy for you. And then you went to?

• 40:41Speaker 05

He's legit. He trained Chad McBeau's men. Like, he's legit.

• 40:47Drew Afualo?

So how is jujitsu with Vinnie Hacker? Is it fun?

• 40:50Speaker 05

First class. He came back. He's, he came to me, he said, we gotta do a tournament. I said, wait.

• 40:57Drew Afualo?

What are you, duos? The two of you should do WWE.

• 41:00Speaker 05

He, he would kill at it. I mean, he, he did boxing. Now he's, he's doing jujitsu. But I'm like, so the day after I had to leave to go speak at Harvard.

• 41:10Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 41:10Speaker 05

  Random fun.

• 41:13Drew Afualo?

Which we will talk about. Yes, please go on.

• 41:15Speaker 05

But ever since, he's been posting that he's been there ever since. I'm like, dude, come on. Like, I'm not gonna, we're, it's been a week and you're already like.

• 41:25Drew Afualo?

  He's like.

• 41:25Speaker 05

A blue belt or whatever next belt is. I don't even know. I just.

• 41:30Drew Afualo?

You're not gonna continue in your jujitsu journey?

• 41:32Speaker 05

I want to, but like, I like to do things like hand in hand. Like, he ran.

• 41:38Drew Afualo?

  He sprinted ahead without me.

• 41:40Speaker 05

  Friend, I'm walking.

• 41:41Drew Afualo?

  That's fucked up.

• 41:42Speaker 05

  It, it like.

• 41:43Drew Afualo?

You should start doing something about him.

• 41:44Speaker 05

  Right.

• 41:45Drew Afualo?

You should go enter a tournament.

• 41:49Speaker 05

  He loves anime.

• 41:50Drew Afualo?

He, he loves anime, is what you said?

• 41:52Speaker 05

  Mm-hmm.

• 41:53Drew Afualo?

  Well.

• 41:55Drew Afualo?

Like, I'm like, I mean. It's, it's. He looks like a guy that would love anime, to be honest.

• 41:59Speaker 05

  Right.

• 42:00Drew Afualo?

To me. He seems like he does.

• 42:01Speaker 05

Very, very chill, but very like nerdy.

• 42:05Drew Afualo?

That's why it's like, oh, well, I did jujitsu with Vinnie Hacker the other day. Right. Right. And you know what's funny is when I brought up WWE, I realized that one time Grace texted me and said, do you want to go to WWE Raw with me?

• 42:20Drew Afualo?

I was like, Grace, it's Thursday.

• 42:22Speaker 05

  I forgot.

• 42:25Drew Afualo?

And then I remember I didn't respond yet. And then the next thing you go, never mind.

• 42:29Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 42:29Drew Afualo?

  And I said, oh.

• 42:30Speaker 05

Cause I'm not gonna let you.

• 42:33Drew Afualo?

I didn't think it was never mind. And the way you wrote it made it sound like you just decided not to go anymore. You said, if you were thinking of going with me, forget it.

• 42:41Speaker 05

I think, I think it passed already.

• 42:43Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 42:46Drew Afualo?

What are you talking about? Why do you have tickets to WWE Raw? Like, why do you have those?

• 42:51Speaker 05

I don't have the tickets. I just saw that this dude was going viral and he's Samoan, I think.

• 42:57Drew Afualo?

  Oh, Roman Reigns.

• 42:58Speaker 05

  Yes.

• 42:58Drew Afualo?

Yeah, everybody loves him. Roman Reigns looks.

• 43:05Drew Afualo?

I would say Roman Reigns. When people say that Billy looks like Jason Momoa, I don't get that really, but he does look like Roman Reigns. They, they do look a lot alike, him and Roman Reigns.

• 43:14Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 43:15Drew Afualo?

Way more than Jason Momoa, I would say. But like, yeah, Roman Reigns, yeah.

• 43:19Speaker 05

  My goodness.

• 43:20Drew Afualo?

I would love to see you with Roman Reigns. I know he's married, but that would be great if you were.

• 43:23Speaker 05

I got some. Get to your next question.

• 43:26Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I was gonna say, actually, it's my next question, which is, how's the love life? We did talk about that in the last episode, too.

• 43:34Speaker 05

Oh, my gosh. I don't know where to start. What do I do?

• 43:41Drew Afualo?

Like, good or bad? Is it good, bad, mid?

• 43:43Speaker 05

I've like, kinda like sworn off men.

• 43:46Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 43:46Speaker 05

  Cause I'm valuing myself more.

• 43:48Drew Afualo?

  Which is a good thing.

• 43:49Speaker 05

  It's just a good thing.

• 43:50Drew Afualo?

Yeah. We're saying it through tears, but we're happy about it.

• 43:54Speaker 05

  I'm happy.

• 43:57Speaker 05

I love myself. You know, thanks. No, I, yeah, so I value myself more. So I just, that, it's just, I don't really have options. But I did pull a Samoan man at a party the other day.

• 44:12Drew Afualo?

Wait a second. Now I need to hear all about it. Whatever you can tell me. And you could tell me the real stuff offline, but you could tell me whatever.

• 44:21Speaker 05

  Girl, I got videos.

• 44:25Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I gotta see those for sure.

• 44:26Speaker 05

Oh, my gosh. He is so fun. He's like, he's like six, three.

• 44:30Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 44:31Speaker 05

He got a nice jawline. He got like curly hair.

• 44:35Drew Afualo?

  Long hair?

• 44:36Speaker 05

  Wolf cut.

• 44:40Drew Afualo?

I love wolf cuts on dudes. I think they look great.

• 44:42Speaker 05

I think they look great too.

• 44:43Drew Afualo?

I'm an advocate of especially minority dudes, long hair.

• 44:47Speaker 05

  Please.

• 44:48Drew Afualo?

  I love it.

• 44:49Speaker 05

There is a space. You guys are okay.

• 44:52Drew Afualo?

It could be, it go, it fifty fifty. It's either thick and luscious makes you look like somewhat spicy ethnic.

• 44:58Speaker 05

  Oh, yeah.

• 44:59Drew Afualo?

Like Vikings or whatever, or the other side is stringy and greasy.

• 45:03Speaker 05

  What's happening?

• 45:04Drew Afualo?

  Cut it off. Yeah.

• 45:05Speaker 05

  Please.

• 45:06Drew Afualo?

  But.

• 45:07Speaker 05

  Make it better shorts.

• 45:08Drew Afualo?

Minority men always look better. I think it's just, it's a look for everyone.

• 45:11Speaker 05

  Majestic.

• 45:14Speaker 05

What's that horse that everyone's like, hear me out?

• 45:17Drew Afualo?

  Spirit?

• 45:17Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 45:21Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, it's giving spirit.

• 45:22Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 45:22Drew Afualo?

  I love that, though.

• 45:23Speaker 05

Okay, actually, no, the story is actually hilarious. So it was a party, one of those parties that's like, they like invite everybody.

• 45:34Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 45:34Speaker 05

But then they like, cut it off, but they only invite, they only let like VIPs through. And I'm like, bro, why would y'all oversell a party?

• 45:44Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 45:45Speaker 05

Anyway, so we get to the party, that's, it's bear, because they keep not letting people in. But, um, I see him from a distance and I'm like, oh, my gosh, I know him. And so I go up to him and I'm like, bro, you remember me?

• 46:00Drew Afualo?

And I believe you. I believe that's exactly what you said to him.

• 46:03Speaker 05

And he was like, oh, you know how hot guys talk?

• 46:08Drew Afualo?

  Like they've never, they're, it's all noises?

• 46:10Speaker 05

All noises and good posture, right?

• 46:12Drew Afualo?

Yeah, noises, good posture and, yeah, I think so.

• 46:15Speaker 05

  And then here, these things.

• 46:19Speaker 05

There it goes. Yeah, that's why I'm not a hot guy. Right here we get, right here we get stuck. I'll be like, oh, give me a second. He was like, no, I'm not sure. But I'm like, bruh, you gonna, you gonna be, uh, feel stupid when I show you. This, this is our mutual friend that, um, introduced us. And I showed him a picture and he, and he was like, wait, I think you're talking about another, another, um, guy that looks like me. And I said, oh, I'm sorry. And then this old white dude comes up and he's like, okay, guys, if we're talking about whose hair is better, it's definitely her hair. Because.

• 46:57Speaker 05

And I was like, no, no, no, actually, I was, he's like, no. You are beautiful black queen, okay? So you do not let anybody tell you anything different. And he turns to him, he's like, you need to worship the ground she stands on, okay? Okay, if she tells you to tap dance, you're gonna tap dance. If she tells you this, you do that. You guys are the future, okay?

• 47:18Drew Afualo?

  What the fuck?

• 47:21Speaker 05

You guys are the future, okay? White people have been in charge for so long. You guys, though, I look into your eyes and I see the future.

• 47:28Drew Afualo?

  Oh, God.

• 47:29Speaker 05

  And I'm over here like.

• 47:30Drew Afualo?

And then you're like this? He looks at you and you're going?

• 47:32Speaker 05

I, I did actually. I actually did that at one point. And, and, and the dude was just like so intently listened to him, even though it was like, a lot of it was like, come on, dude.

• 47:42Drew Afualo?

Yeah, hey, hey, hey, alright, enough.

• 47:44Speaker 05

He was like, he was listening to him and he was being like, and I said, wait, hold on, who is this man? And where, where can I?

• 47:53Speaker 05

Follow you like was good. And so he leaves and then we just stopped bantering.

• 48:00Drew Afualo?

You, you united against a common enemy.

• 48:02Speaker 05

We did. Those are the best, though.

• 48:05Drew Afualo?

That's true, that is true, it's kinda cute.

• 48:07Speaker 05

Enemy turned lovers in five minutes.

• 48:10Drew Afualo?

You're like, I'm gonna laugh you right out of those pants.

• 48:12Speaker 05

  Hey.

• 48:15Speaker 05

  But yeah.

• 48:16Drew Afualo?

Well, I'm really happy for you.

• 48:17Speaker 05

  I'm happy for me too.

• 48:18Drew Afualo?

And if, if it's a someone dude, most likely I know who it is. So like, I can't wait for you to give me more details.

• 48:24Speaker 05

  You, you gonna scream.

• 48:25Drew Afualo?

I hope so, in a good way, hopefully.

• 48:28Speaker 05

  I'll be by your family.

• 48:29Drew Afualo?

Imagine you show me and then I go,

• 48:32Drew Afualo?

  like, in a horrifying way.

• 48:33Speaker 05

Oh, my God, he taught me, um.

• 48:38Drew Afualo?

So he was. What, something someone?

• 48:40Speaker 05

  Wow!

• 48:41Drew Afualo?

Oh, the, a faumu, that's what it's called.

• 48:43Speaker 05

Yeah, I'm not doing it right. I kept not doing it.

• 48:47Drew Afualo?

Sounded like toad, but it's close.

• 48:53Speaker 05

  Wait, how's it?

• 48:54Drew Afualo?

It's, it's a chihu, like, chi, yeah, yeah. I can't do it on here, I'll, I'll literally hurt our sound, sound people on accident, but, yeah. It's a, a faumu. If you say that to him, it'll impress him.

• 49:08Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 49:08Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I'll teach you lots of words that I can impress him.

• 49:14Drew Afualo?

You know what's funny is, um, do you remember when that audio was trending? Where it was like, do you have your passport? Did you get your shots? And they're like, me when I go to Ireland, whatever, to men. Someone made one that said, me when I go to Samoa to look for people who look like Jason Momoa or Drew's boyfriend. At the time, which I, we were obviously not engaged at the time. Me correcting, me feeling the need to correct it. But I said, I commented on it because it was funny, but I commented on it and I said, Jason Momoa's Hawaiian, so you will not find him there. I can promise you that. And I said, Ed too, you don't need to go to Samoa, just go to Long Beach. Long Beach, California, go to Oceanside, a whole bunch over there. Go to, if you go to Utah, hell yeah.

• 49:56Speaker 05

  Okay.

• 50:00Drew Afualo?

There's so many in Long Beach, Carson, like Compton. There's lots of Samoa dudes down there.

• 50:04Speaker 05

  Road trip.

• 50:05Drew Afualo?

Yeah, go on over there. It's a much shorter trip than going to Samoa.

• 50:08Speaker 05

  Okay.

• 50:11Drew Afualo?

  I'm so happy for you.

• 50:12Speaker 05

I'm very happy for me too. Girl, let me see y'all ring. I'm happy for you.

• 50:15Drew Afualo?

  Oh, yeah.

• 50:16Speaker 05

Oh, ring finger with a rocket. Oh my gosh, it's so pretty.

• 50:22Drew Afualo?

Thank you. I know when I, uh, whenever my friends come and they, they see me in person and they get seen in person, they're like, oh wow, it looks even prettier in person, which I'm like, mm, period.

• 50:34Speaker 05

  That's what it's for.

• 50:35Drew Afualo?

And that's what I'm, I'm manifesting that for your Samoan man. If I could marry everyone into my family, I would.

• 50:43Drew Afualo?

Everyone I love, I would. I've been planning that for Taffy for years. I was like, if I'm, if I can marry you into my family, I will. I'm gonna try my hardest.

• 50:51Speaker 05

  Low key.

• 50:54Drew Afualo?

  That's what I'm saying.

• 50:55Speaker 05

Taffy with a Samoan man with E.

• 50:56Drew Afualo?

That's what I'm saying. I feel like Samoan people are so complimentary to anybody.

• 51:00Speaker 05

  They are.

• 51:01Drew Afualo?

  They look good with anybody.

• 51:02Speaker 05

  The genetics.

• 51:05Speaker 05

  The skin.

• 51:08Speaker 05

  Athletic.

• 51:09Drew Afualo?

  And the hair.

• 51:10Speaker 05

  The hair.

• 51:10Drew Afualo?

And you like athletes like me. You like big dudes, like tall.

• 51:14Speaker 05

Oh, my gosh, the like, the big dog trend? She don't want no puppies, she would, ah, I, I wouldn't go to sleep. I wouldn't go to sleep, I said, there's big dogs.

• 51:25Drew Afualo?

I know, I was talking to Monet Exchange about it on her podcast. We were talking about, cause she was doing, um, one of those things where she tells me like Disney princes and then I like pick one and then it goes against another one, whatever. It was like Hercules and like, I don't even know, the dude from Little Mermaid, Eric. Right? And then I was like, okay, Hercules, cause I like a big dude. I like big titties.

• 51:47Speaker 05

  Oh, my goodness.

• 51:47Drew Afualo?

Yeah, I need, I need some meat up here, you know what I mean? Yeah, big, big.

• 51:50Speaker 05

  Guns on them.

• 51:51Drew Afualo?

I was like explaining this to my fiancee the other day. Cause I was telling him, there is a video I have that's like one of the most popular ones I've ever made and it's about him. It's just pictures and videos of him. But the first clip is the most, most popular one, which is like just a clip of him running really fast on like a treadmill topless, right? Tits out and everything, slut.

• 52:12Speaker 05

  Tits out.

• 52:14Drew Afualo?

  I get tear nipples.

• 52:17Speaker 05

  You're a man.

• 52:19Drew Afualo?

And I was telling him, the bitches eat that clip up. Like I was telling him about it and he goes, yeah, why? Is it just cause my shirt's off? And I was like, you don't know anything.

• 52:28Speaker 05

  You don't know anything.

• 52:29Drew Afualo?

  You're a dumbass, you don't know anything.

• 52:30Speaker 05

  Hey, guy, something's happening there.

• 52:33Drew Afualo?

I was like, I don't know how to explain it. I was like, you just, you're, you're just like, like capable. I don't know how to explain it.

• 52:38Speaker 05

  Right, security.

• 52:39Drew Afualo?

Yeah, like you could put me over your shoulder, carry me out in a case of a fire.

• 52:44Speaker 05

Um, app going viral right now. It's called Protector and it's like all security guards.

• 52:49Drew Afualo?

Oh, in a good way? Sounds kind of horrifying. Men of a common goal scares me.

• 52:57Drew Afualo?

  Depends on what it is.

• 52:57Speaker 05

They're like, security guards for hire.

• 53:00Drew Afualo?

Oh, okay. That's kind of smart.

• 53:02Speaker 05

  Yeah, it is.

• 53:03Drew Afualo?

  That's really smart.

• 53:04Speaker 05

So all the girls are like, can you do, can you, can I hire you as the groom?

• 53:09Speaker 05

Y'all, let's choose something else now.

• 53:11Drew Afualo?

I love when women objectify men on TikTok and they write the funniest comments I've ever seen. When they write like, they put like the hand emojis and then they're like, don't worry. Big Mama's got this.

• 53:25Drew Afualo?

Don't worry ladies, I got this one. I'm laughing every time.

• 53:29Speaker 05

  It's so good.

• 53:30Drew Afualo?

You know what's funny? This is such a weird loop back to the beginning, but like in my standup, there's a joke I have about security guards because one time I was talking to this woman who I love, she is very sweet.

• 53:47Speaker 00

Don't you want to see the rest? Okay, bye bye.

• 54:12Speaker 02

• 54:49Drew Afualo?

She's very sweet though. And one day she was talking to me and she was like, I can't, I can't believe you're someone I didn't know that. And she goes, I know a bunch of them. And I go, do you? Cause she's from here, she's from LA and she, I know where she's from in LA. So I'm kind of like, I kind of doubt that, but like, really? I was like, oh, are you? And she goes, oh yeah. And she goes, I know a bunch of them. Such like sweet people. And I go, yeah, yeah. And she goes, and they make the best security guards. And I said, oh, how did you? Right, right. I said, well, is it racist if it's always true? Or is it more of a Pem Dos situation?

• 55:30Speaker 05

Honestly, I was thinking about that the other day. Cause there's some things that my African dad.

• 55:37Speaker 05

Will do like just the loud phone calls.

• 55:42Speaker 05

Like you could hear him from the parking lot.

• 55:46Speaker 05

It's not cute. I'm like, yeah, he African parents is pastors.

• 55:52Drew Afualo?

That's why I was like with someone, someone men. The best mount, always a bouncer. In L A, always bouncer. The first TikTok party I ever went to. The whole thing's being bounced by only someone dudes. I knew two of them. When I did wanted to stuff, I did like, I hosted a gig for Disney with wanted to. The entire band I knew, I was related to two of them. And all of the dancers I knew and two of them played football with my boyfriend.

• 56:20Speaker 05

  Oh, wow.

• 56:22Drew Afualo?

So I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, that stereotype's always true, which I.

• 56:27Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 56:27Drew Afualo?

  I don't know.

• 56:27Speaker 05

I can't believe you said, well, never mind.

• 56:32Speaker 05

  I can't.

• 56:35Drew Afualo?

I think that, yeah, I was, I, I was laughing when I was thinking about security. Cause you said security. I was like, yeah, I mean, someone dudes are. They're always bouncers. My dad was a bouncer for years, just cause my uncle. Even Billy did bouncing for a tiny bit. Just big dudes who can fight. So they're like.

• 56:53Speaker 05

  And y'all look good.

• 56:55Drew Afualo?

And they're charming as hell. And when I went to school in Hawaii. Um, every single club I ever went to was obviously someone dudes bouncing. And when I was underage and I was using a fake, I would be like, I'd go up to them and I'd be like, hi, oh my God. I'd be like.

• 57:14Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 57:14Speaker 05

  Teach me that.

• 57:16Drew Afualo?

Oh, I would love to teach you that. Okay. So like, well, well, just saying hi first is talofa, talofa.

• 57:22Speaker 05

  Talofa.

• 57:23Drew Afualo?

There you go. That's just hi. And then bye is.

• 57:28Drew Afualo?

Bye. Well, when you say goodbye and you say like, you say tofa soy fu, which means like tofa soy fu.

• 57:35Speaker 05

  Tofa soy fu.

• 57:37Drew Afualo?

Yeah, that means goodbye. I wish you good and I wish you good health.

• 57:40Speaker 05

  Good health.

• 57:41Drew Afualo?

Yeah. So you're like tofa soy fu or just the shortened version is fa, which is just bye. Fa, yeah, fa. That's just.

• 57:48Speaker 05

  Bye.

• 57:51Speaker 05

  Boifa.

• 57:56Drew Afualo?

That's so funny. And it's also Samoan language is all about inflection too. So they're very like their words go up and down. Yeah, they're up and down and up and down. So like when I say taalofa malole soifua. That means like it's good to see you in good health. It's good to see you. So you say malole soifua.

• 58:15Speaker 05

  Malole soifua.

• 58:17Drew Afualo?

There you go. And then when you say it all together, you're like malole soifua.

• 58:21Speaker 05

  Malole soifua.

• 58:22Drew Afualo?

That's perfect. Look at you nailing it.

• 58:25Speaker 05

There's a lot at stake here. I don't think you.

• 58:28Drew Afualo?

  You have no idea.

• 58:29Speaker 05

  I don't think you understand.

• 58:32Drew Afualo?

Well, you could say an easy one is I love you, which is alofa atu. Alofa atu.

• 58:37Speaker 05

  Alofa atu.

• 58:38Drew Afualo?

Yeah, that just means I love you. It's a little too soon for that.

• 58:41Speaker 05

  Too soon.

• 58:42Drew Afualo?

  Keep that in the chain.

• 58:43Speaker 05

  I will.

• 58:46Drew Afualo?

You could say um ki'ol means shit.

• 58:51Speaker 05

  Oh.

• 58:51Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 58:52Speaker 05

  Ki'ol.

• 58:52Drew Afualo?

  Ki'ol.

• 58:54Speaker 05

  Ki'ol.

• 58:54Drew Afualo?

  There you go.

• 58:55Speaker 05

  Ki'ol.

• 58:56Drew Afualo?

  Yes, shit.

• 58:59Drew Afualo?

Ufa means fuck, which could be like fuck. Like exclaim, when you exclaim it, ufa.

• 59:06Speaker 05

Ufa. He cut me off, ufa.

• 59:11Drew Afualo?

Susupoki means suck my dick. You wanna say that, just in case.

• 59:15Speaker 05

  Poki, wait.

• 59:16Drew Afualo?

  Poki.

• 59:16Speaker 05

  Poki balls.

• 59:17Drew Afualo?

Yeah, yeah. I know, it's unfortunate.

• 59:20Speaker 05

  How does that?

• 59:21Drew Afualo?

Poki means dick. It's like a, it's a colloquial way of saying dick in Samoan, poki, P O K I. P O K E is the Hawaiian word for like fish, the way they cut the fish.

• 59:31Speaker 05

  Wow.

• 59:32Drew Afualo?

So, pokay. It's like, when you say, it's so funny because when I was learning Samoan language in college, my professor, the first year, was obviously a full Samoan man and he moved from Samoa and he was teaching. And he said, like, he didn't know any English when he moved to Hawaii. So he was like learning as he was going to school and stuff. And poki and pokay are two different words. Like pokay means fish, poki means dick. So he said like, whenever people would offer him poki, he thought they were fucking with him. Like he was like, are you, what are you trying to say? What are you trying to say?

• 1:00:00Speaker 05

  You want some pokay?

• 1:00:03Drew Afualo?

So that's a good one for you. I would say talofa.

• 1:00:06Speaker 05

  Talofa.

• 1:00:07Drew Afualo?

And puka means, puka means chubby or fat, like it depends on how you use it. You try to think of regular.

• 1:00:14Speaker 05

  Hey, puka.

• 1:00:16Drew Afualo?

  Pookie.

• 1:00:17Speaker 05

  Yeah. Hope you're happy.

• 1:00:19Drew Afualo?

We've been talking about all kinds of things. I can't believe I didn't bring up your love interest sooner.

• 1:00:25Speaker 05

  Talofa.

• 1:00:28Drew Afualo?

I know. Let me find out you're marrying into my family. I would be so excited. I'll shit myself. I do want to give you some silly little fun facts about yourself.

• 1:00:36Speaker 05

  Oh.

• 1:00:37Drew Afualo?

  That we've been.

• 1:00:38Speaker 05

  Are you serious?

• 1:00:38Drew Afualo?

Yeah, absolutely. I'm trying to turn, I'm trying to take Nardmore's gig. I'm trying to.

• 1:00:44Drew Afualo?

Well, let's see. Okay, it says, well, obviously we have in here that you were a pediatric nurse, which we already knew. You were a featured speaker at Harvard Business School, a panel this past month, period, smarty pants. We love that.

• 1:00:56Speaker 05

People are like, what did you even teach? I'm like,

• 1:01:00Speaker 05

I taught content creation, but like, but like, it's like.

• 1:01:03Drew Afualo?

You said, um, just to be yourself.

• 1:01:05Speaker 05

Yeah. Just smile and be sunshine and happy.

• 1:01:10Drew Afualo?

Me when I did anything before, I'm like, girl, I don't know what the fuck.

• 1:01:12Speaker 05

Oh, my gosh. That was whatever. I'd be like, I ain't got no businesses with you. She got me up in here, fuck.

• 1:01:20Drew Afualo?

  The son says.

• 1:01:21Speaker 05

  They love you.

• 1:01:22Drew Afualo?

In 2013, she was voted most humorous at her high school.

• 1:01:26Speaker 05

  Right.

• 1:01:29Speaker 05

I didn't know people knew me.

• 1:01:31Drew Afualo?

  Most humorous.

• 1:01:32Speaker 05

Right. And I was like, for people to vote, they have to know.

• 1:01:37Speaker 05

I was like, how y'all know me? Like, I thought I was just being like a little gremlin, like, running around, just like doing mischief.

• 1:01:46Drew Afualo?

To, well, turns out you were. You were making people giggle. I was voted most likely to want to be stranded on an island with, which I felt was racially charged.

• 1:01:54Speaker 05

  Right.

• 1:01:54Drew Afualo?

And I said, we're both gonna die. If we get stranded on an island together, you're crazy.

• 1:01:58Speaker 05

I would go up to the, um, to, how was I gonna say the pastor of the school? The president.

• 1:02:05Drew Afualo?

The president of the school. I demand a recount.

• 1:02:08Speaker 05

  I demand.

• 1:02:10Drew Afualo?

It says, for your high school dancing with the staff night, you did a seated dance performance to Thinking About You by Frank Ocean.

• 1:02:17Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:02:19Drew Afualo?

Hey, why'd you do that? Do you have any comments on that?

• 1:02:24Speaker 05

You know, and it was a promposal-ish. Yeah, it was a promposal for one of my friends.

• 1:02:30Drew Afualo?

For like, like you were asking someone or they were asking someone?

• 1:02:33Speaker 05

They were asking someone. But yeah, that was-

• 1:02:36Drew Afualo?

Dancing with the Staff night, why that night?

• 1:02:39Speaker 05

  And

• 1:02:41Speaker 05

just like everything else in my life. No rhyme or reason.

• 1:02:45Drew Afualo?

  It's just kind of happened.

• 1:02:46Speaker 05

Just vibes, 100%. So now that I think about it, I thought it was a talent show.

• 1:02:54Drew Afualo?

You said, well, I heard there was gonna be a tension given to me, so I will be there.

• 1:02:59Speaker 05

Wow, I remember that. Oh, wow, it's taking me back. No, next question, please.

• 1:03:04Speaker 05

It was like Timothy Chalamet's like dance that he did at the talent show. That's how I feel about it. His was cool, though.

• 1:03:13Drew Afualo?

You're just having war flashbacks to it?

• 1:03:15Speaker 05

  Help, help.

• 1:03:18Speaker 05

  Cut the camera.

• 1:03:19Drew Afualo?

Last one says that your mom is a professor who started a shea butter company.

• 1:03:23Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:03:23Drew Afualo?

After years of making homemade shea butter for Grace and her siblings when they were growing up.

• 1:03:27Speaker 05

  Yes.

• 1:03:27Drew Afualo?

  That's a beautiful thing.

• 1:03:28Speaker 05

  It is.

• 1:03:29Drew Afualo?

And how do you pronounce the name?

• 1:03:30Speaker 05

  Uh, it's Alo Koshay.

• 1:03:32Drew Afualo?

  Alo Koshay.

• 1:03:33Speaker 05

Actually, even funner fact, Alo Yoga came for us, so now we have to change the name.

• 1:03:39Drew Afualo?

What the fuck? Are you serious?

• 1:03:41Speaker 05

Day in the life of Grace.

• 1:03:47Drew Afualo?

  What the fuck, Grace?

• 1:03:49Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:03:50Drew Afualo?

Just everything is just, you're like, funny you bring that up.

• 1:03:54Speaker 05

There's a fun fact to everything. Yeah, I can't like, I could say the name, but it we're changing it, so.

• 1:04:02Drew Afualo?

But it's a beautiful thing that your mom did that. That's beautiful.

• 1:04:05Speaker 05

She's amazing. Like, she has like her elixirs that she makes for us, like-

• 1:04:10Drew Afualo?

  Yeah, totally.

• 1:04:11Speaker 05

Cause I have like eczema and then my other sister will have like psoriasis, so she'll like make us our like own natural like home-based

• 1:04:20Drew Afualo?

Like tinctures and stuff. I love that.

• 1:04:23Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:04:23Drew Afualo?

Okay, your mom's a smarty pants too. Okay, Miss Chemist. I love that. You come from a talented family.

• 1:04:29Speaker 05

  I know.

• 1:04:30Drew Afualo?

And now you're gonna marry into mine.

• 1:04:35Speaker 05

  Tofa.

• 1:04:35Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:04:37Speaker 05

  What was it?

• 1:04:38Drew Afualo?

  Tofa, it's Talofa.

• 1:04:40Speaker 05

  Talofa.

• 1:04:40Drew Afualo?

  And then Tofa, Soifu.

• 1:04:42Speaker 05

  Tofa, Soifu.

• 1:04:44Drew Afualo?

Soifu. I'll text it to you.

• 1:04:46Speaker 05

In my language, we have Tufiakwa, so that's why I was getting it mixed up.

• 1:04:50Drew Afualo?

  Right.

• 1:04:51Speaker 05

Because Tufiakwa is like, God forbid. So we'll go Tufiakwa. Like if something's happening, if a man, if a broke man trying to text me, hey, Tufiakwa.

• 1:04:59Drew Afualo?

  I rebuke, I rebuke, I rebuke.

• 1:05:01Speaker 05

Hey, Jesus, know my passion in Jesus' name.

• 1:05:06Speaker 05

  It's not my passion.

• 1:05:07Drew Afualo?

Okay, last thing. I would love to know if you have any advice for anyone who maybe wants to get into content creation, or maybe is an artist and finds themselves feeling like they need to lean towards content creation? Do you have any advice for anyone?

• 1:05:20Speaker 05

I would say, I think for us, like, the reason why we have such longevity is because money wasn't the goal.

• 1:05:30Drew Afualo?

  Tea, period.

• 1:05:31Speaker 05

Um, which is hard, you know? Because it's like, you want to make money doing your art, but I saw this video the other day talking about like having a plan B.

• 1:05:39Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:40Speaker 05

And that being a power, because then like you're not putting all your eggs in one basket.

• 1:05:45Drew Afualo?

That's tea, yeah. You're not really committing to it fully.

• 1:05:48Speaker 05

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:05:48Drew Afualo?

Like, you can't be a hundred percent in two places.

• 1:05:50Speaker 05

  Yeah.

• 1:05:51Drew Afualo?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:51Speaker 05

And it'll, and your art will flourish because you have, you have your source. And then like you can creatively, without pressure, create, creatively create, creator.

• 1:06:06Drew Afualo?

I fucking love you. You're the best. I can't wait to grow old together, honestly.

• 1:06:11Speaker 05

Oh, my God. It's gonna be iconic.

• 1:06:15Drew Afualo?

I know, that's why I was like, one thing about me, I'm gonna ride for grace. We're gonna be alongside each other.

• 1:06:19Speaker 05

I'll call you, I'll be like, I got the house next door.

• 1:06:23Speaker 05

  Come over.

• 1:06:23Drew Afualo?

  With my cousin, apparently.

• 1:06:28Drew Afualo?

  I fucking love you.

• 1:06:29Speaker 05

  Three sixty.

• 1:06:32Drew Afualo?

Thank you so much for coming back.

• 1:06:33Speaker 05

  Thank you.

• 1:06:33Drew Afualo?

  I fucking love you.

• 1:06:34Speaker 05

I love this. I love you.

• 1:06:36Drew Afualo?

Love you. And everyone else loves you, obviously.

• 1:06:38Speaker 05

  Wait.

• 1:06:39Drew Afualo?

But just in case, just in case, they have no idea who you are, which would be insane. But just in case they don't, where can everybody find you?

• 1:06:46Speaker 05

They can find me, um, Grace underscore Africa on Instagram, TikTok, and, um, on YouTube.

• 1:06:54Drew Afualo?

And hopefully the two of us in Abbott Elementary soon.

• 1:06:56Speaker 05

  Yes.

• 1:06:57Drew Afualo?

  Yes.

• 1:06:57Speaker 05

  Quinta Brunson, please.

• 1:06:59Drew Afualo?

They should make us both PE teachers, but we're bad.

• 1:07:01Speaker 05

Oh, my goodness. And we can both, like, have our accents.

• 1:07:05Drew Afualo?

  Yes.

• 1:07:07Speaker 05

  Call my phone.

• 1:07:08Drew Afualo?

Look at us. Quinta, we already have it half written.

• 1:07:10Speaker 05

  We already.

• 1:07:11Drew Afualo?

It's like forty percent of the way down already. I, if they let me improv, I'd go crazy.

• 1:07:15Speaker 05

  Let's do, let's do it.

• 1:07:16Drew Afualo?

Let's do it. We'll do it.

• 1:07:17Speaker 05

Why is this kid going slow?

• 1:07:23Speaker 05

  No, your turn.

• 1:07:24Drew Afualo?

  I don't have, I can't, I can't imitate a fob, I don't think.

• 1:07:29Drew Afualo?

I'll do my best. I'll be like, yeah, what she said. I'll just be annoying.

• 1:07:35Speaker 05

And you know what? They need, they, they always need that.
