Chronic migraine means 15 or more headache days a month, each lasting four hours or more. Botox, onabotulinum toxin A, is a chronic migraine treatment that prevents headaches in adults. It's not approved for adults with migraine who have 14 or fewer headache days a month. Botox prevents, on average, eight to nine headache days and migraine probable migraine days a month versus six to seven for placebo.

• 0:19Speaker 01

Huh, I'm having fewer headache days this month.

• 0:21Speaker 00

Prescription Botox is injected by your doctor. Effects of Botox may spread hours to weeks after injection, causing serious symptoms. Alert your doctor right away as difficulty swallowing, speaking, breathing, eye problems, or muscle weakness can be signs of a life-threatening condition. Patients with these conditions before injection are at highest risk. Side effects may include allergic reactions, neck and injection site pain, fatigue, and headache. Allergic reactions can include rash, welts, asthma symptoms, and dizziness. Don't receive Botox if there's a skin infection. Tell your doctor your medical history, muscle or nerve conditions, including ALS Lou Gehrig's disease, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, and medications, including botulinum toxins, as these may increase the risk of serious side effects. Ask your doctor. Visit botoxchronicmigraine.com or call 1-800-44-BOTOX to learn more.

• 3:03Speaker 03

  Hello?

• 3:03Amy Poehler?

  Cara?

• 3:05Speaker 03

  Hi!

• 3:05Amy Poehler?

Hi! How are you? It's nice to meet you.

• 3:09Speaker 03

  Have we never met?

• 3:11Amy Poehler?

I mean, I feel like perhaps I've walked past you at an event.

• 3:14Speaker 03

And I've never stopped you and hugged you?

• 3:18Amy Poehler?

  Not yet, but now.

• 3:20Speaker 03

But now? How rude! Like, I feel like I just, I adore you and I'm such a huge fan and I feel like I know you so well because I think Parks and Rec probably saved my life during COVID. So like, I feel like I know you. So if I'd seen you, I would have run up to you and probably kissed your feet, if I'm gonna be real with you. I just, I just got back from work, so I'm just getting into my hotel room and then I will sit down.

• 3:44Amy Poehler?

Of course, take your time. We, we have people doing these Zooms from restaurant bathrooms, from set, from cars, so.

• 3:54Speaker 03

Oh, perfect. I'm talking to Amy Poehler. I'm on her podcast. My girlfriend's a big fan. She's freaked out. She doesn't understand. I, I would tell the camera, but she's naked.

• 4:06Amy Poehler?

Oh my God, that's how I imagine your life. That's how, exactly how I imagine your life.

• 4:10Speaker 03

We love the podcast, yes. I know, I just, we do good hang. We are good at, we're the best hang.

• 4:14Amy Poehler?

Okay, so we're talking to the great Renee Rapp today.

• 4:19Amy Poehler?

  Exactly, just be

• 4:20Speaker 03

  My favorite.

• 4:21Amy Poehler?

  Your favorite, and I know

• 4:22Speaker 03

  My favorite.

• 4:23Amy Poehler?

Can you tell me how you guys met?

• 4:25Speaker 03

I literally don't even think we've known each other that long, but uh, through my old manager was like, you know, I always wanna be behind the camera in as many ways possible, and I think music videos is a great way of doing that. And he was like, would you be interested in um, directing a video for Renee Rapp? And I was like, yeah, obviously, let me, let's talk, though, let's get on the phone. And what I realized about Renee, again, for someone who is nearly ten years younger than me, she is uh, I mean, a consummate professional. Her voice can just like, break me to the floor while also like, lift my spirits. But also, when you've worked with someone who's a musician, who's also an actor,

• 5:07Speaker 03

and who's so brilliant, and just can like, take direction, take notes, be spontaneous, um. Yeah, she's so good at that.

• 5:17Amy Poehler?

Okay, and then um, my question to you is, what do you think I should ask Renee today? There's a lot I know about her, but I wanna hear what you think.

• 5:26Speaker 03

I had so many questions that I wanted to ask, and then I realized a lot of people won't understand the questions, so for everyone, the questions that I wanted to ask her, number one was, if she was a drag king, so not a drag queen, for the people that don't know, that drag king, so dresses in drag as a man, what would her drag name be?

• 5:46Amy Poehler?

  Great.

• 5:46Speaker 03

Very important. What would yours be?

• 5:49Amy Poehler?

Okay, let me think about this. Well, I'm gonna think about the old trick where you sometimes take the street you grew up on and your first pet name. So, mine would be Bradley Algonquin.

• 6:06Speaker 03

Hot. I can imagine the dance you're doing too, like, yeah.

• 6:09Amy Poehler?

Yeah, so my guy, I think, would probably be a professor, like some kind of professor.

• 6:14Speaker 03

  Hot.

• 6:14Amy Poehler?

  With a mustache.

• 6:16Speaker 03

  With braces, a bowtie?

• 6:17Amy Poehler?

Yeah, and just, and he's just like, uh, he's just kind of like sternly telling you to get your work done.

• 6:24Speaker 03

  Obsessed. Disciplinarian.

• 6:28Amy Poehler?

  Professor Algonquin?

• 6:30Speaker 03

I can't claim this one, but someone, a drag king, is called clit eastward, which I just think is just. Come on.

• 6:38Amy Poehler?

  Incredible.

• 6:40Speaker 03

I wish I'd made that up. It's not mine. I don't know what mine would be, but I'm not the one being asked questions. And the other question would be, oh, oh, if Renee had to be in a girl band, like the Spice Girls, it doesn't matter how many people of, of female singers, rappers, whoever, dead or alive, who would it be? Honestly, that's the hardest question, I think.

• 7:01Amy Poehler?

Oh, that's such a good question. Renee is gonna be so happy that we talked today, I think, because you know, these are always surprises, so.

• 7:09Speaker 03

Fuck Renee. Any excuse to talk to you, Emmy. Good time. Anytime.

• 7:13Amy Poehler?

  Thank you. You're the best.

• 7:14Speaker 03

It could have been for anyone.

• 7:15Amy Poehler?

  Oh, my gosh.

• 7:16Speaker 03

But no, I love Renee. I'm so glad.

• 7:21Amy Poehler?

Okay, well, just come back next week and we'll just talk about whoever that is.

• 7:24Speaker 03

I will. I'm gonna find a job to do so I can just come and talk about it.

• 7:28Amy Poehler?

Yes, please. I would love that.

• 7:29Speaker 03

  That's how it works. Okay.

• 7:30Amy Poehler?

Thank you so much for your time. Bye.

• 7:38Speaker 04

Reports due to, then meeting prep, then...

I'm pro-football Hall of Famer Brian Dawkins, and I lived for a long time with something I did not know the name of: major depressive disorder. I carried sadness and anger because I thought I could handle it alone, but I couldn't. Now I want to make sure others know that that support is out there. If you're experiencing similar symptoms, talk to a healthcare professional. Visit mddallies.com to watch my story.

• 9:37Speaker 06

Paid partnership with Johnson & Johnson. Brian Dawkins has not prescribed Caplyta lumateperone.

• 9:49Speaker 04

I needed more from my antidepressant, so my doctor added Caplyta lumateperone, proven to provide greater relief from depression symptoms than an antidepressant alone, building on my progress without starting over. Caplyta is for adults with major depressive disorder when used with an antidepressant and is available by prescription only. Individual results may vary. In clinical trials, weight gain was not common.

• 10:09Speaker 06

Elderly dementia patients have increased risk of death or stroke. Caplyta is not approved for dementia-related psychosis. Call your doctor about newer sudden mood changes, behaviors, or suicidal thoughts right away. Antidepressants may increase these risks. Report fever, confusion, stiff muscles, which may be life-threatening, or uncontrolled muscle movements, which may be permanent. High cholesterol and weight gain may occur, as can high blood sugar, which may be fatal. Monitoring is recommended. Common side effects are sleepiness, dizziness, nausea, dry mouth, feeling tired, and diarrhea. These aren't all the side effects. Ask your doctor about Caplyta. • 10:41Amy Poehler?

Renee, I'm so happy you're here.

• 10:48Speaker 07

I'm so excited to be here.

• 10:49Amy Poehler?

I've been listening to your, I've been lucky enough to listen to your, can we listen to your song right now?

• 10:55Speaker 07

  Please, of course.

• 10:57Amy Poehler?

  I love this song.

• 10:59Speaker 07

  Thanks.

• 11:00Amy Poehler?

Is it weird to listen to your music?

• 11:03Speaker 07

I mean, I'm forced to listen to it a lot, so no, it's not weird.

• 11:08Amy Poehler?

  Is this your first single?

• 11:11Speaker 07

  It's fun.

• 11:12Amy Poehler?

It's so good. It's got like a Runaways, Joan Jett vibe.

• 11:16Speaker 07

  Oh, 100%, 100%. I know, I like it.

• 11:19Amy Poehler?

  And it's very crunchy?

• 11:21Speaker 07

  Thanks, dude. Thanks. I'm partial.

• 11:24Amy Poehler?

It's so good to like music.

• 11:26Speaker 07

  100%.

• 11:27Amy Poehler?

  I really like your music.

• 11:29Speaker 07

  Thank you, it's very sweet.

• 11:31Amy Poehler?

  I really like your music.

• 11:33Speaker 07

I'm glad that you like it, it would be shit if you hated it.

• 11:36Amy Poehler?

Yeah, I wouldn't tell you. You know what I mean? But, but it's this, record is so good, congratulations, we're gonna talk all about it.

• 11:44Speaker 07

  Thanks.

• 11:46Amy Poehler?

How are you today? How are you feeling today?

• 11:48Speaker 07

  Good.

• 11:49Amy Poehler?

  Renee Rapp.

• 11:50Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 11:51Amy Poehler?

I first met you, without you meeting me, so I guess I should say, I first saw you on Tina Fey's phone.

• 11:59Speaker 07

Love. I mean, that's kind of like a sick thing for me to know that that's where you first seen me, and like, oh my god, that's so cute.

• 12:07Amy Poehler?

I saw, Tina said, "Listen to this woman sing," basically, and played a video of you singing, and we both kind of watched it together in awe, as I imagine a lot of people do when they first hear you sing.

• 12:22Speaker 07

  Thanks.

• 12:23Amy Poehler?

And you were, you know, I think you were already hired, maybe, at that point to do Mean Girls, which was, give us a sense of what time that was, what year was that?

• 12:35Speaker 07

  Probably, probably 2019.

• 12:38Amy Poehler?

Right, and you were how old?

• 12:39Speaker 07

  19.

• 12:41Amy Poehler?

Dang. And what do you remember around that time about getting that part?

• 12:46Speaker 07

I was just like, so entitled. I was just so entitled. I was just like, yeah, okay.

• 12:54Speaker 07

  Sure thing.

• 12:55Amy Poehler?

You were like, I got it, nailed it?

• 12:57Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 12:57Amy Poehler?

What, do you remember the audition?

• 12:59Speaker 07

  Yeah, totally.

• 13:00Amy Poehler?

  What was it like?

• 13:01Speaker 07

I auditioned a bunch of times. And when I first auditioned, I remember I was like, I need to dress really girly. And at that time in my life, I was like, I mean, I was dressing horrifically. First of all, I was dressing like an infinity scarf, a legging. Like, I was, I was like, my like-

• 13:20Amy Poehler?

And you're telling me those are not cool?

• 13:22Speaker 07

Um, no, no, no, like, I love a little, like, small infinity scarf. You know, like, tiny knit. Yeah, but that was just like, I don't know. I was just dressing crazy. I was dressing crazy. I'd also, like, just started making money, so I discovered, like, athleisure. And I was like a musical theater person who was moving to New York, and I was like, fuck, you guys all wear these little fucking Lululemon skirts.

• 13:45Amy Poehler?

  Right.

• 13:46Speaker 07

  Right?

• 13:47Amy Poehler?

  Right.

• 13:47Speaker 07

Assholes, I gotta get one. So I was dressing crazy. So I was like, alright, I gotta dress the part.

• 13:52Amy Poehler?

  Mm-hmm.

• 13:54Speaker 07

  And I looked fucking insane.

• 13:55Amy Poehler?

  Mm-hmm.

• 13:56Speaker 07

I just looked so terrible. And I remember being like, I can't walk in these heels. And this skirt is like, making my ass sweat so crazy, I have to go home. And I did a terrible, terrible first audition.

• 14:10Amy Poehler?

It's true, the wrong clothes can ruin-

• 14:12Speaker 07

  Fuck you up.

• 14:12Amy Poehler?

  Yeah, big time.

• 14:13Speaker 07

Fuck you up. I, I, ugh, hated it, hated it, hated it. So then, the next audition, I went back, changed clothes.

• 14:21Amy Poehler?

  Mm-hmm.

• 14:22Speaker 07

  Wore some pants.

• 14:23Amy Poehler?

  Mm-hmm.

• 14:24Speaker 07

Skinny jeans. Eh, that was nice. And I looked less bad.

• 14:29Amy Poehler?

  Mm-hmm.

• 14:30Speaker 07

  Did better.

• 14:31Amy Poehler?

What did you sing for your audition? Do you remember?

• 14:34Speaker 07

No, but I remember that an ex-boyfriend picked it out for me.

• 14:38Amy Poehler?

  Mm.

• 14:39Speaker 07

Yeah, cuz I was like, he was a musical theater major in college, and just smarter than I was. And he was like, oh, I think I said something. I was like, I'm gonna sing like a Beyonce song. And he was like, like, what the fuck for? He's like, like, cool, but at that time, it wasn't like, you know, the girls weren't doing pop like I think they are now.

• 15:04Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 15:04Speaker 07

And, um, he gave me something. Fuck, I don't remember.

• 15:08Amy Poehler?

He was like, sing something from HMS Pinafore.

• 15:11Speaker 07

  Literally.

• 15:12Amy Poehler?

He was like- Joseph's Technicolor Dreamcoat.

• 15:14Speaker 07

Exactly, exactly. So, I remember I did that. And then after that- The auditions, I went back, I just had to sing songs from the show. And that was way fucking easier.

• 15:23Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 15:24Speaker 07

Cause I hate having to make decisions.

• 15:26Amy Poehler?

Written by the great Jeff Richman. Let's give it up for Jeff Richman.

• 15:28Speaker 07

  I love Jeff Richman.

• 15:29Amy Poehler?

Who's an incredible musician and Tina's husband and my friend for many years. He's so talented.

• 15:33Speaker 07

There are no two people cuter. It's kind of outrageous.

• 15:36Amy Poehler?

  They are a power couple.

• 15:37Speaker 07

  It is kind of outrageous.

• 15:39Amy Poehler?

And I am not the biggest fan of musicals. Sorry, I like them, I don't love them.

• 15:43Speaker 07

That's okay, I'm not either, to be clear.

• 15:45Amy Poehler?

I love the Mean Girls music, I love the music in it.

• 15:47Speaker 07

  It's really fun.

• 15:48Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 15:48Speaker 07

  It's really, really fun.

• 15:49Amy Poehler?

What was it like doing a Broadway show? And how many shows did you end up doing before COVID hit?

• 15:55Speaker 07

I mean, it was super fucking hard. Um, I don't know, I did like six and a half months. So I did like half of what would have been my like contract. Um, just like did a ton of fucking shows. You just do literally so many, holy shit.

• 16:11Amy Poehler?

And the hardest part of your day is at the end of your day?

• 16:13Speaker 07

Absolutely, actually, do you know what? No, the hardest part of my day was like the mental game of waking up and waiting the entire day.

• 16:22Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 16:22Speaker 07

And planning your entire life around doing a show at night.

• 16:27Amy Poehler?

And I wanna, I know you identify primary, you know, like gay. You identify gay, yes, we're gonna talk about that.

• 16:34Speaker 07

  No, no, rude, yeah.

• 16:38Amy Poehler?

But you identify as a musician and singer in many ways more than an actor, right? Is that, is that true?

• 16:43Speaker 07

  I think so.

• 16:44Amy Poehler?

Okay, but I do wanna just talk about the Jimmy Awards.

• 16:48Speaker 07

  Please.

• 16:49Amy Poehler?

  Because.

• 16:50Speaker 07

  Please.

• 16:50Amy Poehler?

For people who don't know what the Jimmy Awards are, what are they? For people who've never seen them?

• 16:54Speaker 07

The most intense hormonal, um, scary.

• 17:02Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 17:03Speaker 07

Scary, really intense. And I don't say that about other people, I mean that more about like myself. Like I was a fucking terror, I didn't make a friend the entire week.

• 17:11Amy Poehler?

So they're a high school competition?

• 17:13Speaker 07

Yeah, okay, so yes, actually, so what it is, the high school theater, I'm like scary.

• 17:18Amy Poehler?

  You went way in.

• 17:19Speaker 07

Yeah, no, it's a high school theater competition, uh.

• 17:23Amy Poehler?

  All across the country?

• 17:24Speaker 07

  Yes, correct.

• 17:25Amy Poehler?

And everyone kind of competes? And a lot of like very famous people have been discovered through the Jimmy Awards? You being one of them. Do you feel like you were discovered because you did the Jimmy Awards? Like in many ways, were you?

• 17:37Speaker 07

I mean, it definitely like. It definitely gave me like leverage because I was like just, just kind of an asshole. And I was like, you guys are gonna pay attention to me whether you like it or not.

• 17:49Amy Poehler?

Yeah, you were really feel like that's the, when I watch your performance on it, that is definitely what I feel is this vibe of I'm, I've arrived and I'm ready. You felt that then? Like.

• 18:04Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 18:05Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 18:05Speaker 07

  Yeah, definitely.

• 18:06Amy Poehler?

Have you always been this kind of person? Renee, like if you had some kind of inner compass that like tells you? You have?

• 18:14Speaker 07

  Yeah, definitely.

• 18:15Amy Poehler?

Where do you think that comes from?

• 18:17Speaker 07

I literally have no idea, like from inception to now. Same way, same way, like always. And don't get me wrong, like I think my parents have those qualities, absolutely, but like even before, you know, when you're like a little tiny thing and you start to sort of like take on parts of your own personality and as those become, you know, what they are, I was always like just like super driven, crazy, like little bit angry and like ready to go.

• 18:52Amy Poehler?

That's, and do you think you like

• 18:56Amy Poehler?

this is a little woo woo, but do you think you've lived before? Do you think you've been here before? Cause that's a very, you know, it's like, did you think you arrived with some like, are you a reincarnated?

• 19:06Speaker 07

Nah, there's no way, cause I wouldn't have come back. I'd be like, I'm not doing this shit again. I'm like, I'm not doing that shit again.

• 19:13Amy Poehler?

No, this is your first time.

• 19:14Speaker 07

  Gotta be.

• 19:15Amy Poehler?

  You're so centered.

• 19:16Speaker 07

  Gotta be.

• 19:16Amy Poehler?

From a little, from a young age, you know who you are.

• 19:19Speaker 07

Definitely. I, I think I'm just very like I've just always been very feisty.

• 19:24Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 19:24Speaker 07

But also when, when I was like being born, I guess. Hey, when I was being born. And like in my mom.

• 19:33Amy Poehler?

  There being born.

• 19:34Speaker 07

When I was like shooting out.

• 19:36Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 19:36Speaker 07

My mom, uh, like chose my first and last name to be, oh, okay. Arguably, chose my first and last name to both have like ours.

• 19:45Amy Poehler?

  Yes.

• 19:46Speaker 07

Alliteration, just in case she um wants to be a pop star. Like before I was born, which is so fucking head ass and is so conceited. And I'm obsessed with the way she did it. I'm like, thank you, God.

• 19:59Amy Poehler?

She gave you a pop star name.

• 20:02Speaker 07

  She's like, just in case.

• 20:02Amy Poehler?

Just in case, because Renee Rep is a huge pop star name.

• 20:06Speaker 07

  It's a really good one.

• 20:07Amy Poehler?

And Renee Rep is a huge pop star. Um, do you remember the moment when you sang or when you watched people realize that you had an exceptional, you have an exceptional voice. Beautiful voice that can do so many things. And everybody says like, oh, my kid's a good singer, you know, my daughter loves to sing, whatever. But there is always a moment where somebody sings and everyone looks at each other and says, holy shit, she's really good. Do you remember a moment where you or someone locked in and knew, you know, your ambition and talent were matching?

• 20:40Speaker 07

Mm mm. It didn't matter for a very long time.

• 20:43Amy Poehler?

  Really?

• 20:43Speaker 07

  No, I don't think. Well.

• 20:46Amy Poehler?

  Are you hard on yourself?

• 20:47Speaker 07

A hundred percent. But also, my parents were never like, my kid's a fucking star.

• 20:52Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 20:53Speaker 07

They were like, like I would, I would like come off of like a stage or even like I played a lot of sports growing up, come off the field, like court, whatever. And they'd be like, you know where you messed up?

• 21:03Amy Poehler?

  Hmm.

• 21:03Speaker 07

And I'd be like, I'm five. This is crazy. This is crazy. But also, my dad has relative pitch, so he's very musically inclined.

• 21:12Amy Poehler?

What does that mean, relative pitch?

• 21:14Speaker 07

So basically, like, if I was flat, he'd know. Like, he has a really good ear. He has a really, really good ear. So he was always like, you know where you were flat, right? So I was like, fuck.

• 21:28Amy Poehler?

So they were really getting you trained. Like, you're, you're, you're, are you trained? Or did you ever do any musical training, like any?

• 21:35Speaker 07

I did like. I was in choir.

• 21:37Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 21:38Speaker 07

I was in choir. I took piano lessons um when I was a kid. But they give me panic attacks. I got very stressed and I would start crying. So I stopped.

• 21:49Amy Poehler?

  Good.

• 21:49Speaker 07

Got rid of that, but I did, I feel like choir was like how I learned kind of how to like blend. So I don't want to say like, no, I have no training.

• 21:59Amy Poehler?

What were you, were you alto supr- what were you in your? I was an alto in choir.

• 22:04Speaker 07

  You have the hardest lines.

• 22:05Amy Poehler?

  Thank you.

• 22:06Speaker 07

You have the hardest lines, yeah.

• 22:07Amy Poehler?

Cause altos sing like they're far away from the choir and singing a different song.

• 22:14Speaker 07

  Yeah. Oh, a hundred percent.

• 22:15Amy Poehler?

They're just like, and I will.

• 22:18Speaker 07

  Absolutely.

• 22:19Amy Poehler?

Yeah. And the sopranos are, what were you? Were you soprano?

• 22:22Speaker 07

  I was, I was a soprano.

• 22:23Amy Poehler?

  Congrats.

• 22:24Speaker 07

I was a soprano. Thank you. But also sopranos are bitches. Like.

• 22:27Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 22:27Speaker 07

  If you're a soprano.

• 22:29Amy Poehler?

Like, oh, congratulations. You, you get to sing the song.

• 22:32Speaker 07

  Right, exactly.

• 22:33Amy Poehler?

The altos have to sing some weird dirge that is underneath the song.

• 22:37Speaker 07

Of course. It's like, you know, the um, All I Want for Christmas is, what the fuck?

• 22:42Amy Poehler?

  Yes.

• 22:42Speaker 07

  Alto line?

• 22:43Amy Poehler?

  Okay, what is it?

• 22:44Speaker 07

  It's just like.

• 22:45Amy Poehler?

  Okay, you sing the.

• 22:46Speaker 07

I don't wanna live for Christmas. There is just one thing I need and I.

• 22:57Speaker 07

Like, it's the same shit the whole song. And that's exactly what being an alto in a choir is. And then occasionally having to memorize the most difficult line of music.

• 23:10Amy Poehler?

It has nothing to do with what the song is.

• 23:12Speaker 07

Couldn't be less. It is so confusing.

• 23:16Amy Poehler?

And you know what happens when those altos go away? Song falls apart.

• 23:19Speaker 07

Falls apart. You have like a very shrill, pitchy soprano and like tenor boys who are like not at all developed yet.

• 23:26Amy Poehler?

  Yes.

• 23:26Speaker 07

  Singing like shit.

• 23:28Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 23:29Speaker 07

The altos are gone, the choir's gone.

• 23:31Amy Poehler?

The altos are like when you do the cheerleader pyramid, if all those bottom gals decided to just leave.

• 23:37Speaker 07

What do you, what do you do when the bottoms are gone?

• 23:40Amy Poehler?

  We always say that.

• 23:41Speaker 07

What are you gonna do when the bottoms are gone? Nothing to top.

• 23:44Amy Poehler?

Nothing to top. No one to top if the altos are removed.

• 23:48Speaker 07

That's what my girlfriend needs. Me.

• 23:50Amy Poehler?

  That's it, right.

• 23:51Speaker 07

  She needs me.

• 23:52Amy Poehler?

It's interesting. What I'm realizing is I'm asking you these like.

• 23:55Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 23:55Amy Poehler?

Technical questions, but I'm realizing how you come to singing is very intuitive. It's like what you're feeling in the moment.

• 24:02Speaker 07

  Totally.

• 24:02Amy Poehler?

So do you do vocal warm up?

• 24:04Speaker 07

  No.

• 24:04Amy Poehler?

  Incredible.

• 24:05Speaker 07

  Hate, can't do it.

• 24:06Amy Poehler?

  What?

• 24:07Speaker 07

  Don't like them.

• 24:07Amy Poehler?

  What?

• 24:08Speaker 07

Don't like them, makes me too anxious. Puts me in my head. Anytime I've ever done a warm up before a performance, I have done so shit.

• 24:21Amy Poehler?

That is so interesting. I, I, I can understand that because it then becomes very important.

• 24:28Speaker 07

Yeah, and I'm like thinking about it and I'm thinking about the like different technicalities or whatever in my voice and I don't, that's not how I learned how to sing. So I don't think, whenever I try and do that, it's kind of like going back on the actual thing that I know how to do.

• 24:47Amy Poehler?

How did you learn how to sing? How would you describe it?

• 24:49Speaker 07

Listen to Beyonce, tried to match it. Like genuinely, like I was like, well, this is it.

• 24:56Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 24:56Speaker 07

  So I gotta do that.

• 24:58Amy Poehler?

  Yes.

• 24:58Speaker 07

  You know?

• 24:59Amy Poehler?

You like, you let music come from all around you and you, like you, you brought music in and you're less concerned about trying to be?

• 25:07Speaker 07

  Hundred percent.

• 25:08Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 25:09Speaker 07

  Hundred percent.

• 25:10Amy Poehler?

Have you met and talked to Beyonce?

• 25:12Speaker 07

  I'm, I have met,

• 25:16Speaker 07

  I have met Beyonce.

• 25:17Amy Poehler?

Would you like to tell us, would you like to tell us how?

• 25:20Speaker 07

  I was forced.

• 25:21Amy Poehler?

  Okay, by?

• 25:22Speaker 07

  I was forced.

• 25:23Amy Poehler?

  Management?

• 25:23Speaker 07

No, um, by one of my best friends who is like just, she will always introduce me to someone. Always. She's like, you must. And for Beyonce, she was like, this is your like hero. Like this is your everything.

• 25:40Amy Poehler?

Set the scene, where were you?

• 25:41Speaker 07

So we were at a party after I just told everybody um, at this Oscars party that Nemo was the best film ever made. And they're like, cool, she's gonna work for a long time. And, and we went to an after party and I was with like two or three of my really good friends. And my friend Cara is like the best person to have out with you because she is like your biggest cheerleader ever.

• 26:08Amy Poehler?

  Is that Cara Delevingne?

• 26:09Speaker 07

Yes. She like, she will take,

• 26:14Speaker 07

she just like will, literally she'll be like, Renee, I gotta like hold you for a sec. Like she's like one of the greatest friends on planet Earth, but knows how much I love Beyonce and is really fearless about it. And um, I was like, oh my fucking god, I was like Beyonce's literally.

• 26:30Amy Poehler?

  Standing.

• 26:30Speaker 07

Here, that's so crazy. And the whole day she had been saying, she was like, we're just gonna introduce you to her. Like, like they invited you, like it's okay, like she, like you guys, like, I'm sure that she loves you. I was like, no, no, no. Like, we really should like tone it down.

• 26:43Amy Poehler?

  Mm-hmm.

• 26:44Speaker 07

  And I was.

• 26:46Amy Poehler?

Did you see her in the room?

• 26:48Speaker 07

  Yep, no, definitely.

• 26:49Amy Poehler?

Okay, you had some liquid courage, she was in the room.

• 26:51Speaker 07

Yeah, she was in the room and um, very blonde and I think like probably the most beautiful person I've ever seen. Um, in real life, ever.

• 27:02Amy Poehler?

  Mm-hmm.

• 27:02Speaker 07

And I love my girlfriend, but like she knows you don't compete where you can't compare and I.

• 27:08Amy Poehler?

  I like that saying.

• 27:09Speaker 07

Can't, like can't, like what are you gonna do? You put anyone in a category with Beyonce, it's going down, so.

• 27:14Amy Poehler?

  Sure.

• 27:15Speaker 07

Cara was like, you must say hi to her. I'm like getting so anxious talking about it, it makes me, I'm like, I could vomit. She was like, you have to. And I was like, you walk me up there bitch and I will kill you. I'll kill you in front of everybody here.

• 27:28Amy Poehler?

But it sounds like you meant the opposite.

• 27:31Speaker 07

  The truth is, I didn't.

• 27:33Amy Poehler?

  You didn't.

• 27:33Speaker 07

Oh, she dragged me. And I was like, having such a like a visceral, I was like, this is my hero, I can't do this. I would never even like wanna bother her.

• 27:42Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 27:42Speaker 07

Or anything. And I just, and she was like, oh my god, hi, I was like, mm, you don't have to do that, it's okay. Um, love you. Lovely to meet you.

• 27:53Amy Poehler?

  You got really sleepy?

• 27:54Speaker 07

And I, I just was like, I like couldn't look at her at all. I also was super, um, I love to have a good time and I was gone. So I was like, hey, so nice to meet you, thanks for having us, like, you know.

• 28:07Amy Poehler?

  Basically, you hurried her along.

• 28:09Speaker 07

Oh, she didn't get a word in edgewise. I was like, I gotta go. And she was like, oh, it's so lovely to meet you. I said, no, no, no, don't even worry about that. You just have a good night, ma'am. I'm gonna head on out.

• 28:18Amy Poehler?

Yeah, we're gonna get you in the car now and you're gonna, we're gonna get you home.

• 28:21Speaker 07

I literally, I turned around, maybe three feet, middle of a party, middle of a party, screamed, top of my lungs. Turned around in a car and I was like.

• 28:32Amy Poehler?

And she was still very close.

• 28:33Speaker 07

Yeah, she was super close. I could have walked a bit further. But I was so, I was like, I can't do this. It was the greatest night of my life.

• 28:41Amy Poehler?

Do you wanna, do you wanna meet her again and do you think you'll be cooler when, no, that's it.

• 28:45Speaker 07

  We can't talk.

• 28:45Amy Poehler?

  We can't talk.

• 28:46Speaker 07

  We can't talk.

• 28:47Amy Poehler?

Like, sometimes you just don't wanna meet.

• 28:49Speaker 07

  I ca- I can't.

• 28:50Amy Poehler?

  It's too much.

• 28:51Speaker 07

Also, she'll be like, this woman just screamed like two feet away from me and I'll be like, I totally did. I'm so sorry. Like, how could I ever do that around your, your ears?

• 28:58Amy Poehler?

She probably is used to people like, hearing people.

• 29:02Speaker 07

  Totally.

• 29:03Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 29:03Speaker 07

  Tweak.

• 29:04Amy Poehler?

Tweak after they meet her, for sure. I once met Prince at SNL.

• 29:08Speaker 07

  Oh.

• 29:08Amy Poehler?

Um, he came offstage after doing a sound check and walked past me and I said, how was your summer? That was what I said to him.

• 29:14Speaker 07

  What did he say?

• 29:16Amy Poehler?

He was like, uh, he just went like, hey.

• 29:20Amy Poehler?

Like, can you imagine that being the question you asked Prince?

• 29:23Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 29:23Amy Poehler?

  Um, terrible.

• 29:24Speaker 07

  No, it's good.

• 29:25Amy Poehler?

Okay, let me talk about your album, okay? Because this music, your record, what's the name of your record?

• 29:31Speaker 07

  Bite Me.

• 29:33Amy Poehler?

  Amazing.

• 29:33Speaker 07

Yeah, I kinda forgot. It was like, I was like, mm, yeah, got it, yeah.

• 29:38Amy Poehler?

Okay, Bite Me. So, incredible. And it is very, I was talking to you when we were, hold on, I gotta play the song.

• 29:44Speaker 07

  Go.

• 29:45Amy Poehler?

  Because, um.

• 29:46Speaker 07

  Stream my, stream my shit.

• 29:48Amy Poehler?

Yeah, okay, so that's what music is, is you stream it now.

• 29:50Speaker 07

  I guess.

• 29:51Amy Poehler?

Yeah, you just stream it now.

• 29:57Amy Poehler?

It's funny that you say cannonball, sorry.

• 29:59Speaker 07

You're so cute. No, please don't.

• 30:02Amy Poehler?

Hold on, Nana needs to listen to it again.

• 30:04Speaker 07

No, go, girl. Come on, Nan.

• 30:06Amy Poehler?

It's funny, come on, Nana, let's go. Nana's get on up.

• 30:11Amy Poehler?

No, but you know what's funny that you say cannonball in it? Cause it did have a Breeders vibe. Like, there's a heavy, like PJ Harvey vibe, like, and what it, and what I like about your music is, I feel like I'm in conversation with you. You're in conversation with us.

• 30:29Speaker 07

  Totally, I mean, hopefully, yeah.

• 30:31Amy Poehler?

And there's, not to get too, you know, like, but I did, um, you know, I don't always do research on the guests, cause.

• 30:37Speaker 07

  I understand.

• 30:38Amy Poehler?

Um, cause I'm like, it's okay.

• 30:40Speaker 07

  Of course.

• 30:41Amy Poehler?

But, um, I did listen to all of your songs many, many times.

• 30:44Speaker 07

  Oh, thank you.

• 30:45Amy Poehler?

And so I just wanna, I want everyone to know that. But, no, but.

• 30:48Speaker 07

You're like, no, I did it.

• 30:49Amy Poehler?

The two songs that, the one, Why Is She Still Here and I Can't Be, is it I Can't Be Around You Anymore?

• 30:53Speaker 07

  Oh, yeah, yeah.

• 30:56Amy Poehler?

Those two songs, everyone, listen to those two. They feel like they're, from the perspective of two women in the same, like, it's, it's very cool coupling those two songs. They're great songs.

• 31:09Speaker 07

Thank you, thank you. They're, they're like some of my favorites. That is true. They're kind of A and B to each other.

• 31:14Amy Poehler?

Right? One is like, why is she still here? What's going on? And the other is, there's something going on. We can't really handle. And "I Can't Be Around You Anymore" is, that's a killer song.

• 31:26Speaker 07

I, I'm obsessed with that song. I love that song.

• 31:29Amy Poehler?

And that's a good example, I feel like, of where you're able to show restraint, because you have to kind of sing it, you're, you're, you're singing it in a way that really makes us feel some, like, really feel it deeply. It's so good.

• 31:41Speaker 07

Thanks. It's really, it's, I love that one.

• 31:43Amy Poehler?

Late night driving song for a lot of people.

• 31:46Speaker 07

Yeah. It is for me. Hundred percent.

• 31:49Amy Poehler?

And it's gonna be the kind of song that people send to each other, like, hey? And they're just gonna send it and be like, I can't see you anymore because we're, we have too much chemistry.

• 31:58Speaker 07

Hey, girl. Exo. They're like, we're actually out.

• 32:01Amy Poehler?

Is there anything hotter than being like, we can't see each other anymore?

• 32:04Speaker 07

  So hot.

• 32:05Amy Poehler?

It's like, we literally can't. We have, you have to leave me alone.

• 32:09Speaker 07

So then you do, you have to see that person again.

• 32:11Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 32:12Speaker 07

  Must, all the time.

• 32:13Amy Poehler?

You can't, you, you have to, but you can't. It's too dangerous.

• 32:16Speaker 07

  It's forbidden. It's forbidden.

• 32:18Amy Poehler?

  Romeo and Juliet.

• 32:19Speaker 07

  Damsel. Fuck.

• 32:21Amy Poehler?

Balcony. Yeah. Speaking of balcony, suicide.

• 32:28Amy Poehler?

  Speaking of love.

• 32:30Speaker 07

  Suicide.

• 32:33Amy Poehler?

Speaking of love. How did you meet your girlfriend?

• 32:37Speaker 07

Um, similarly locked her in my house. Kind of same thing to Beyonce.

• 32:43Amy Poehler?

Toa Bird, for people who don't know, an incredible musician.

• 32:46Speaker 07

  The best.

• 32:47Amy Poehler?

Um, opened for you. And was kind of discovered, um, like, online, right? Like, was performing and doing videos, like, during the pandemic, online?

• 32:56Speaker 07

Yes. Yeah, we always joke around that we're like the two TikTok signings at, at our, at our, at our label. I had known of her for like, the longest time because she's super talented and is really... Sexy and so obviously I knew of her and.

• 33:12Amy Poehler?

Cause all the sexy, you you clock all the sexy.

• 33:15Speaker 07

Yeah, yeah, I have like a Rolodex. I got a list and like who's hot, got it.

• 33:21Speaker 07

But yeah, she I was I just always like thought she was just so fucking cool. And I had asked one of my best friends to introduce me to her and.

• 33:34Speaker 07

Yeah, I was like, you have to introduce me to her. He was like, I don't know if she's like. Um, in a place in her life where she's like wanting to like meet anyone. I was like, I really couldn't give a fuck less. Um, I'm not either, but I'm gonna meet her.

• 33:46Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 33:47Speaker 07

We need to be at least be friends.

• 33:48Amy Poehler?

Yeah, you were like, I there's something about her that feels.

• 33:51Speaker 07

Yeah, I was like, I need like I I need to know her like super bad. And so then. He introduced me to her and she was so fucking mean to me. And I was like.

• 34:02Amy Poehler?

  Wait, in what way? She.

• 34:04Speaker 07

Loved it, but she's scary. She's like, yeah, well, she's like from the UK. So like. Her humor is also super different, but she is also just such a bitch.

• 34:13Amy Poehler?

Tell me, what did she say?

• 34:15Speaker 07

Well, I was like, I've heard so much about you. And she was like, why are you talking so much about me then? And I was like.

• 34:21Amy Poehler?

  She's really nagging you.

• 34:22Speaker 07

Yeah, I was like, oh, my God. And then speaking of nagging, the next time we talked, I was we were talking about cars. Cause I love cars and also the movie. Good animated film. Holy shit.

• 34:34Amy Poehler?

  I always say.

• 34:35Speaker 07

  Holy shit.

• 34:36Amy Poehler?

I always say that Larry, the cable guy, should have been nominated for an Oscar.

• 34:39Speaker 07

  I mean, it's incredible.

• 34:40Amy Poehler?

  Performance as Tomater is.

• 34:42Speaker 07

  Unfucking real.

• 34:44Amy Poehler?

It is unfucking real. Laughter and that's that's rude because.

• 34:47Speaker 07

  Cause it's true.

• 34:47Amy Poehler?

It is true. He his performance is incredible.

• 34:49Speaker 07

  No, it's it's stunning.

• 34:51Amy Poehler?

  Agree.

• 34:51Speaker 07

It's stunning. I just rewatched cars too recently. I cried in bed, obsessed with it, but. Anyway, how the fuck? Oh, okay. So we were talking about cars and she was telling you what kind of car she drove at the time. And I was like, oh, that's so interesting. I wouldn't like peg you for someone who would drive a car. And she looks at me or who would drive a car, who would drive that kind of car. And she was like, oh, you don't want to peg me? And I was like, oh, I was like, oh, I was a freak. I was like, freak. I was like, I'm so confident and so like.

• 35:17Amy Poehler?

She she oh, she she over she went over the she she topped a top.

• 35:22Speaker 07

She literally topped a top. She out flirted me.

• 35:25Amy Poehler?

She tip topped. She tipped top to top.

• 35:27Speaker 07

  She tiptoed on my top.

• 35:28Amy Poehler?

  You like confidence.

• 35:29Speaker 07

  Love.

• 35:30Amy Poehler?

  Okay.

• 35:31Speaker 07

  Love.

• 35:32Amy Poehler?

And what would be, okay, so she's super confident and then you're like, okay, now, now she's a challenge.

• 35:38Speaker 07

Yeah, of course. I was like, now, now I'm like, you just, you, you, you want me so bad, just say it.

• 35:43Amy Poehler?

  That is true.

• 35:44Speaker 07

  Yeah, it was awesome.

• 35:45Amy Poehler?

Yeah, and so then you started dating.

• 35:48Speaker 07

  Yeah, then we started dating.

• 35:50Amy Poehler?

Who said I love you first?

• 35:51Speaker 07

She, she told me, I'm so sorry, babe, but she told me, we were sat on the beach and

• 35:59Amy Poehler?

  Incredible.

• 36:00Speaker 07

High, um, out of our minds.

• 36:03Amy Poehler?

  Okay.

• 36:03Speaker 07

Sorry. And I was so beyond in love with her. Like, I've never been so scared to like, fall in love with somebody in my life. I was like, oh, Jesus. I was like, we're either gonna get married or I can never speak to her again. Like, it's like that kind of like, I just am so, I like worship her. I think she's perfect. And

• 36:24Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 36:25Speaker 07

She was like, I think I'm falling in love with you. And I literally didn't answer, didn't say a word. I'm on trumps, the, the sun is setting. I'm like, it's a bit cold. There's like a TikToker behind us that I'm obsessed with.

• 36:38Amy Poehler?

  Who, which one?

• 36:39Speaker 07

  Her name is Flossy Baby.

• 36:40Amy Poehler?

  Oh, I know Flossy Baby.

• 36:41Speaker 07

  She couldn't be more hilarious.

• 36:43Amy Poehler?

She was behind you during it?

• 36:44Speaker 07

She's behind us on the beach, but I can't say anything to her, cause I'm like, Flossy, she doesn't know me at this point.

• 36:49Amy Poehler?

  Yeah, lot going on.

• 36:50Speaker 07

Yeah, we know each other now, cause I broke everything down to her on Toa's birthday, cause I invited her. I said, you don't understand what a big part of our lives you are. Flossy Baby. I'm obsessed with her. And so Toa was telling you this and I was like, and, but I was high, distracted by Flossy Baby, so I was like, I was like, I was like, there's no way she just said this to me and what if I'm receiving it wrong? Because of things that are impairing, uh,

• 37:14Amy Poehler?

  Yeah, sure.

• 37:14Speaker 07

  My thought process.

• 37:15Amy Poehler?

  Natural plants.

• 37:16Speaker 07

So I didn't say anything. And I said,

• 37:20Speaker 07

repeat one, one more time. And she was like, are you fucking kidding me right now? I was like, sorry, sorry, sorry. Let me lock back in. I love you too. Like, I was like, of course. And it was the craziest.

• 37:32Amy Poehler?

I love you too, of course.

• 37:33Speaker 07

I, wait, I love you too, girl.

• 37:34Amy Poehler?

  Of course, girl.

• 37:35Speaker 07

Honey, you're so cute. And yeah, I was just like, I'm obsessed with you and Flosse Baby's here too. It was awesome. It was awesome. It was so fun. It was so fun.

• 37:47Amy Poehler?

So it really feels like real, true, beautiful love. I love love. That's so great. And what is it like working together? You guys have been on, like, do you tour together now still?

• 37:58Speaker 07

We did, I mean, she'll, we'll like, we'll go out for shows for the other person.

• 38:03Amy Poehler?

Playing with you for any of these shows that you're gonna do?

• 38:06Speaker 07

  Hundred percent.

• 38:06Amy Poehler?

Wow. What's that like? How do you stay in love and work together? It's not always easy.

• 38:13Speaker 07

No, I mean, she like, I think I just respect her so much as a musician that I am kind of always looking to her. Like, seeking her approval kind of sounds like she's doing something really terrible to me, but like, I'm like, I'm always. Yeah, like, I want to know, I, I really respect her opinion. I really respect her opinion and I think she has amazing taste. And I think that there are so many things and, and ways that she's so much smarter than me and I love having that in a partner. Because I want to learn from her all the time.

• 38:51Speaker 07

But there have also been times where like, we've worked in sessions together and we're writing for each other's projects. And she's super fun to write with, so easy to collaborate with, and I don't think I'm as much like that for her. Because we were writing and God bless her, we, we like left and I was like, you seem, you seem a bit upset with me. And she was like, no, I just like, I don't think I, I don't think you needed to like, nitpick my vocals all that much. And I was like, got it, got it, got it. So what had happened was I was like, trying to vocal produce her on like a demo. For like, the better part of an hour and a half. And I was like, mm, again, again.

• 39:33Amy Poehler?

You were like, I, I, I can tell when you're a little flat?

• 39:35Speaker 07

Yeah, I said, sorry, do you know where you were wrong? She was like, cool, cool, cool. So I don't know if she wants to work with me again. But I love working with her. Love working with her. I don't think I'm maybe the person for her, which I totally get. I'm a bit neurotic.

• 39:50Amy Poehler?

It's funny, you are a bit neurotic? You don't seem neurotic.

• 39:53Speaker 07

Um, in like a studio setting, I am. I'm pretty insufferable to be around.

• 39:58Amy Poehler?

  Want to get it right.

• 39:59Speaker 07

Yeah, it's gotta be, it's gotta be it.

• 40:05Speaker 01

I hope I don't have to cancel again tonight.

• 40:08Speaker 00

Chronic migraine means 15 or more headache days a month, each lasting four hours or more. Botox, onabotulinum toxine, prevents headaches in adults with chronic migraine. It is not approved for those with 14 or fewer headache days a month. Botox, the number one prescribed branded chronic migraine preventive treatment, prevents, on average, eight to nine headache days a month, versus six to seven for placebo. • 41:41Amy Poehler?

The two of you are very, very sweet together and very, very like, you know, I know that the, you know, the people that are fans of yours like already know this, but you're very, um, you're a very sweet example, I think, of like a beautiful, young lesbian couple that are very open and very loving in real time. And it goes back to, I think, Renee, something that's very special about you, which is you very generously like shared...

• 42:13Amy Poehler?

In many ways, with the world, your own journey about how you wanted to identify. And I'm thinking about this story that I heard when you did SNL. And you were working with the writer Celeste. And do you want to tell that story?

• 42:27Speaker 07

  I mean, it's the best.

• 42:28Amy Poehler?

  It's an incredible story.

• 42:30Speaker 07

It's the best. So they, Celeste and a couple of other people had written into the skit that I was doing. They're like, okay, we're gonna call you a little bisexual intern. And at that time, I was like very publicly bisexual. I had been for a very long time. And like in private, I was like talking with my girlfriend and a lot of my friends for the last, maybe like eight months before that. Of being like, I actually like don't really feel very like bi at the moment. I feel like very much like a lesbian and like it feels so nice. And like that word feels amazing and feels very like euphoric for me. So I was like, do you think that we could just change it to like gay?

• 43:13Speaker 07

Cause I was honestly a little, I don't know, like labeling yourself publicly is really, really, really empowering. And also, I think can be kind of intimidating. Because you're like, Jesus fucking Christ, this feels so good for me right now. And I don't want to go by something that doesn't feel correct. But I'm also gonna like give myself the willingness to be like, what if in 10 years, I don't like that identity either? And I just wanna, I don't know, like what if in 10 years, I'm completely different? In terms of my identity and sexuality, or like my gender expression, anything like that. Or if I decide to be a really nice person, then I wanna be like, wait, I'm fucking nice now.

• 43:57Speaker 07

Right? I wanna have the grace to be able to change from being a bitch to being a sweetheart. So whatever. But yeah, I was just like, I maybe like gay, I don't know. And Celeste was like, fuck yeah, like literally whatever you want. And I was like, okay. And I fucking love Celeste. And then I was talking to Bowen about it and I was like, I kinda just wanna be like.

• 44:18Speaker 07

Like slur. No, I kinda just wanna be like, like lesbian. I was like, I'm just gonna kinda do it. And I called Toa. And then I was like, babe, I think I'm just gonna like rip. Like, I think it like feels good also to like come out as a lesbian on like SNL is like pretty cunty. I was like, I'm gonna do it for sure.

• 44:34Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 44:35Speaker 07

And I was also like, okay, I'm probably gonna disappoint a lot of people who felt like they connected with like the very openly bisexual part of me. And I'm also probably gonna piss a lot of other people off. And I was like, okay, what else do I live to do other than like cause like a controversy?

• 44:50Amy Poehler?

  Sue me.

• 44:50Speaker 07

Like, fine. Okay, what a big fucking problem. So then I just, I wanted to do it and Bowen and Celeste and everybody were like, hell yeah.

• 44:58Amy Poehler?

  What's been the feedback?

• 45:01Amy Poehler?

What, how did it feel to do it? And what, did anything change after you did it?

• 45:05Speaker 07

I mean, I definitely, I kind of just like didn't even like look online afterward. Cause I was like, I don't.

• 45:11Amy Poehler?

How did it feel in your life, in your real life?

• 45:13Speaker 07

  Amazing.

• 45:14Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 45:14Speaker 07

So fucking good. Like so fucking good. I think also just like being from somewhere incredibly rural. Um, you know, you, I don't know, like you don't like. It's just like, it's like fucking like MAGA town where I grew up at. And like it always has been. And it's probably better now than it was when I was a kid. Or it's 10 times worse in so many ways. So I think for me, I was like, it was, it was really interesting. Cause I think a lot of the people who I grew up around who are incredibly homophobic are very supportive of me now. That I am like a public person because I think the idea of fame and wealth can sometimes trump hate.

• 45:59Speaker 07

If it's close in proximity, which is really fucking frustrating. Cause I'm like, I know you don't like anybody else who's gay. And you don't like me either. You just like the idea of the closeness to like something that is very shallow. So much so that you're willing to like put your bigotry to the side for a second to be like, oh, I babysat her. I'm like, no, you're a fucking homophobe. And I don't like you to the day, and I will never like you. My neighbors are boycotting Target for having like a pride line. I'm like, I could give a fuck about y'all. I could give a fuck about y'all. So that, in that way, really frustrated me.

• 46:35Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 46:35Speaker 07

Cause I was like, you don't get to be like supportive of this thing now that it's easy for you and fun for you and something for you to fucking brag about.

• 46:42Amy Poehler?

Yeah, you must feel very used.

• 46:44Speaker 07

  So used, so used.

• 46:47Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 46:47Speaker 07

And then on the other side of that, I like love being lesbian and I love the lesbian community so much and I love like the community surrounding lesbians that like,

• 46:59Speaker 07

like really fuck with us, I don't know. So there's like, there's really bad and there's really, really good.

• 47:04Amy Poehler?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 47:05Speaker 07

Um, I also like, I love to watch people come out publicly who feel like they can and then like change their identity or not. It's just kind of, I don't know, it's not for everyone, but like for me, it was definitely an integral part of my life.

• 47:21Amy Poehler?

Well, I think what you're talking about is that by doing it, you're just kind of like leading by example, this idea that everything doesn't have to be so serious. Like you can decide, as long as it's you deciding, like then you can decide however and whenever and wherever you want. It can be in your parents' house, it can be on SNL, it can be in a relationship.

• 47:44Speaker 07

  Totally.

• 47:45Amy Poehler?

Like, that is, I think, what, if I may speak for myself, like what Gen Z has done for me.

• 47:52Speaker 07

  Mm-hmm.

• 47:52Amy Poehler?

Right? What young people do for me is I came up at a time when labels meant, meant so much. They were, not only were they lifelong, they were like tattoos, right?

• 48:03Speaker 07

  Absolutely.

• 48:04Amy Poehler?

So people were very, very afraid, like what if I get something wrong, basically?

• 48:08Speaker 07

  Absolutely.

• 48:09Amy Poehler?

What if I get it wrong? Or like to your point, what if I wanna change? Or what if I'm kind of 10% this and 90% that? Or what if I'm in the middle? There was no, there was, it was really binary.

• 48:19Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 48:19Amy Poehler?

And Gen Z, because life has been so serious, Gen Z is kind of balanced it by saying, like, it's not that serious.

• 48:27Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 48:28Amy Poehler?

It's not that, it's okay. It's make a mistake or not.

• 48:31Speaker 07

  Totally.

• 48:32Amy Poehler?

  Decide however you want.

• 48:33Speaker 07

  Totally.

• 48:34Amy Poehler?

  Relax.

• 48:34Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 48:35Amy Poehler?

And there's some way that you did that and the way that you do that, the way you live authentically, that's very relaxing.

• 48:40Speaker 07

  Mm-hmm.

• 48:41Amy Poehler?

And I think it's very cool.

• 48:43Speaker 07

  Yeah, thanks.

• 48:43Amy Poehler?

  Very cool.

• 48:44Speaker 07

It's nice. I, I like, I don't know, I enjoy it. I also just have like, a big like, group of like, gay friends around me. Like, I like, have like, my like, gaggle of lesbians.

• 48:56Amy Poehler?

So, speaking of, please, um, we do a thing here where we ask your friends or people that know you to talk well behind your back.

• 49:05Speaker 07

  They talk shit about me.

• 49:06Amy Poehler?

  No.

• 49:07Speaker 07

Okay. I believe it, it's totally fine.

• 49:09Amy Poehler?

No, it's got, no, it's like, it's like, um, it's like, the, on the, it's like Mean Girls, but not Mean Girls. It's the other side of it, which is basically, we got, um, Cara Delevingne, we talked to her today.

• 49:22Speaker 07

  Bitch. Such a fucking bitch.

• 49:27Amy Poehler?

Whore, common whore. Incredible. By the way, when we called her, she was in Paris and there was, her, her, her partner was naked in the bed and

• 49:35Speaker 07

So, oh god, I love her.

• 49:36Amy Poehler?

She was wearing headphones and like, she, she's so, I mean, supermodels.

• 49:41Speaker 07

  Are so hot.

• 49:42Amy Poehler?

  Models are so hot.

• 49:43Speaker 07

Models are so hot. We gotta start talking about it more. Models are so fucking hot. Let's just be clear, models are so fucking hot.

• 49:49Amy Poehler?

I know a lot of, yeah, this is a hot take.

• 49:51Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 49:52Amy Poehler?

  Models are hot.

• 49:52Speaker 07

  Models are hot.

• 49:53Amy Poehler?

Yeah, and they're pretty, they're pretty on camera, they're pretty during the day, they're pretty during the night.

• 49:59Speaker 07

  All the time.

• 49:59Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 50:00Speaker 07

  Literally all the time.

• 50:01Amy Poehler?

Good job, models. Cara wanted me to ask you a couple of questions.

• 50:04Speaker 07

  Oh, please. I'm sure they're

• 50:05Amy Poehler?

  She had incredible questions.

• 50:07Speaker 07

I was gonna say, I'm sure they're very PG and, and very normal.

• 50:11Amy Poehler?

  Okay.

• 50:12Speaker 07

  And super, yeah.

• 50:13Amy Poehler?

Totally. First of all. What would your drag king name be?

• 50:16Speaker 07

  Oh my god.

• 50:17Amy Poehler?

I know, I got, I'll get, I'll let you think, it's so good. I got a little put on the spot and I

• 50:22Speaker 07

  Yeah, what did you say?

• 50:23Amy Poehler?

Well, I picked what, um, I, I got nervous.

• 50:27Speaker 07

  That's okay.

• 50:28Amy Poehler?

So, um, I, I said, you know, like, when you're trying, when you're trying to figure out, like, your dancer name, your exotic dancer name.

• 50:35Speaker 07

  Of course.

• 50:36Amy Poehler?

You do the, um, street that you grew up on and your first pet.

• 50:42Speaker 07

Oh, no, I didn't know that.

• 50:43Amy Poehler?

Okay, this is, I guess I'm

• 50:44Speaker 07

  What is it?

• 50:45Amy Poehler?

It's probably because I, this was said in like 1978.

• 50:49Speaker 07

  It's good, it's good.

• 50:50Amy Poehler?

So, my, the street, so I said Bradley Algonquin was my drag king name because that was the street I grew up on and I had a guinea pig named Bradley.

• 50:59Speaker 07

Oh, I thought your guinea pig's name was Algonquin.

• 51:01Amy Poehler?

  No.

• 51:02Speaker 07

  I was like, wait.

• 51:03Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 51:03Speaker 07

  Cool.

• 51:04Amy Poehler?

Yeah, I know, but so, and so, but anyway, we'll cut this part out.

• 51:07Speaker 07

No, I like it, I like it. I actually think it's pretty strong.

• 51:12Amy Poehler?

There's nothing worse than giving a drag name and people going, wait, what? Explain it. And then you have to explain it and then they go, no, I like it.

• 51:20Speaker 07

Well, Algonquin is where I was like, I was more just like, where's the guinea pig?

• 51:25Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 51:25Speaker 07

  Algonquin.

• 51:26Amy Poehler?

  Actually, the, yeah.

• 51:28Speaker 07

But that was your street name?

• 51:29Amy Poehler?

So I just gave that to myself. Again, no one's ever gonna hear this. We're gonna cut all this out.

• 51:33Speaker 07

And my social security is as follows, by the way.

• 51:38Amy Poehler?

So what is your drag king name? And do you like, I mean, I, I actually have to say like, what I really love about you is like your experimentation with mask and femme. You do it a lot in your, in your work and in the way you dress.

• 51:51Speaker 07

  Thank you.

• 51:52Amy Poehler?

And I really relate to that because I'm always very confused about how to dress.

• 51:56Speaker 07

  Hundred, hundred fucking percent.

• 51:58Amy Poehler?

Very confused. And you present both often, like you're, you go back and forth. And again, you're showing us by example that you don't have to choose.

• 52:05Speaker 07

  Thanks.

• 52:06Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 52:06Speaker 07

I've like watched so many people do it so well.

• 52:10Amy Poehler?

  Who does it well?

• 52:11Speaker 07

I mean, not to be like so annoying, but like my girlfriend does it really well.

• 52:15Amy Poehler?

I wasn't gonna say, but she really does do it well.

• 52:17Speaker 07

Like, she's fine as hell. What are you gonna do?

• 52:20Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 52:20Speaker 07

Take me out. Like, it's fine.

• 52:22Amy Poehler?

  She really does.

• 52:23Speaker 07

  Um, fuck, I don't know. I wish I knew.

• 52:26Amy Poehler?

I didn't know how to answer it. It's a really good question. I mean, we could think of some fun pun, like, um, you know, instead of, you know, we, instead of, um, Timothy Chalamet, you could be called Timothy Shalague.

• 52:45Amy Poehler?

  Is that good?

• 52:46Speaker 07

  That's it. That's actually it.

• 52:52Amy Poehler?

  Right?

• 52:52Speaker 07

I can't even explain to you how much exactly that is it. But it is.

• 53:01Amy Poehler?

Oh my god, we did it.

• 53:02Speaker 07

  That's perfect.

• 53:03Amy Poehler?

And then the other question she had, which was amazing.

• 53:05Speaker 07

  Sure.

• 53:06Amy Poehler?

Who would be in your girl band? If you could put together a girl band, dead or alive? If you could put together a girl band, good, good question, right?

• 53:14Speaker 07

Oh my god, okay, I have a real one and I have a fake one.

• 53:15Amy Poehler?

  Okay, great.

• 53:17Speaker 07

Okay, the real one would be me, Karen Carpenter, um, uh, Beyonce, and oh, maybe like Queen Latifah or something amazing. Something so sick.

• 53:31Amy Poehler?

  Dana Owens.

• 53:32Speaker 07

Ah, I'm like, I love Queen Latifah. I'm like, please, that would be so hard.

• 53:37Amy Poehler?

  Have you ever met her?

• 53:39Speaker 07

  Again, I was forced.

• 53:41Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 53:41Speaker 07

  By Cara.

• 53:42Amy Poehler?

  How funny.

• 53:43Speaker 07

No, she takes me up to everybody that I'm scared of.

• 53:46Amy Poehler?

She is so great, like, like, no surprise, but...

• 53:50Speaker 07

  No, she's fucking amazing.

• 53:51Amy Poehler?

  She's amazing.

• 53:52Speaker 07

She's fucking amazing. She's so fucking cool. And it was also just like, so, she is like timeless. She's so timeless to me.

• 53:59Amy Poehler?

So that's your real band, then what about, you said you had a fake one?

• 54:01Speaker 07

Yes, fake band is me, Nene Leaks, Ellen DeGeneres, and Wendy Williams.

• 54:08Speaker 07

That's the one I want. That's the one I want.

• 54:12Amy Poehler?

  Yeah, that makes sense.

• 54:13Speaker 07

I want that bad. Keep talking about it. I'll take it as a group.

• 54:17Amy Poehler?

Who would be your manager of that band?

• 54:18Speaker 07

  Um, probably Cara.

• 54:20Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 54:21Speaker 07

  She'd manage it.

• 54:22Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 54:22Speaker 07

Yeah, she'd, she'd manage it. I don't know how much like managing would be like done, but I know that she'd manage it.

• 54:29Amy Poehler?

And who would be your opening act? If you guys went on the road? Maybe like, um...

• 54:34Speaker 07

Like you as your character from Inside Out.

• 54:37Amy Poehler?

Oh my god, I would dress up as Joy and be your opening act?

• 54:40Speaker 07

  Yeah, that'd be super cute.

• 54:42Amy Poehler?

  That would be...

• 54:42Speaker 07

But not like head, like face paint.

• 54:45Amy Poehler?

  Okay.

• 54:46Speaker 07

  Like you're true, yeah.

• 54:48Amy Poehler?

That would be like an acid trip.

• 54:50Speaker 07

I would love to do acid whilst doing that. I'd be like, this is fucking awesome. And then we also get Ellen to like do Dory as well.

• 55:00Amy Poehler?

That would, oh, hold on. Now I see it. Now, thank you for that. That's great. So. I'll come out as Joy from Inside Out, and then Ellen will join me as Dory.

• 55:09Speaker 07

  Oh, my fucking god.

• 55:10Amy Poehler?

And then you assume that's all we're gonna see of Ellen.

• 55:12Speaker 07

  I'd start crying.

• 55:13Amy Poehler?

She comes back. She washes her face paint off.

• 55:16Speaker 07

  Right.

• 55:16Amy Poehler?

And she comes back in the band.

• 55:18Speaker 07

As a girl group, yeah. I mean, fuck.

• 55:21Amy Poehler?

  Yeah, fuck is right.

• 55:23Speaker 07

  That's sold out now.

• 55:24Amy Poehler?

As you would say, that fucks.

• 55:26Speaker 07

  No, that fucks.

• 55:26Amy Poehler?

  Yeah, that fucks.

• 55:27Speaker 07

  That does fuck, yeah.

• 55:28Amy Poehler?

Now, um, what are you listening to these days, watching, doing, like, how do you check out? When you're, like, when you need to rest your brain or get away from the hard stuff? What's making you laugh? What are you, where do you go?

• 55:44Speaker 07

  I watch, oh, sorry, go.

• 55:46Amy Poehler?

  No, what do you watch?

• 55:47Speaker 07

  No, no, I'll cut myself.

• 55:47Amy Poehler?

I love to hear what people are watching.

• 55:49Speaker 07

  I watch S V U.

• 55:51Amy Poehler?

  Okay.

• 55:52Speaker 07

  I watch S V U.

• 55:53Amy Poehler?

  Which one?

• 55:54Speaker 07

Long Order with, um, Christopher Maloney and Mariska Hargitay, that's right.

• 55:59Amy Poehler?

So talk to me about why that, um, that, that's a good check out for you.

• 56:03Speaker 07

  I love them.

• 56:04Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 56:05Speaker 07

I love them. Like, what the fuck are you doing?

• 56:07Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 56:08Speaker 07

It's also the writing on that show is so crazy. It's so crazy. It's like, got a burp dead? Yep. What a shame. Rape? Absolutely. Whoa. No trigger warning, right?

• 56:21Amy Poehler?

  They go right there.

• 56:22Speaker 07

Cut to dun dun. It's so intense and there's so much going on. You're like, holy shit. This is, um, either, I can't tell if this is awesome or if it's so, so bad. And I think everyone would agree with that. It's quick. And I need something that's quick because I don't want time to think about something else because then I'll start tweaking. And I also think Christopher Maloney's kind of fucking jacked. And it's, it's hot.

• 56:47Amy Poehler?

He's not kind of fucking jacked.

• 56:49Speaker 07

He's super jacked. Have you ever seen the picture of him in like a middle split when he did like Men's Health, this one? Love.

• 56:56Amy Poehler?

I'm gonna say something. I love Christopher Maloney. I did a movie with him. I don't like men doing splits.

• 57:02Speaker 07

  Can I be honest?

• 57:03Amy Poehler?

  I don't like, I don't find that attractive.

• 57:05Speaker 07

  I, yeah.

• 57:06Amy Poehler?

  As a straight woman.

• 57:07Speaker 07

  Totally.

• 57:08Amy Poehler?

  I don't enjoy flexible men.

• 57:10Speaker 07

I couldn't agree more. I don't like, oh, this is, and, and some of my friends do this and that's okay. I do just want to flag. Some of y'all do this and that's all right.

• 57:22Speaker 07

I'm not big into boys flipping.

• 57:25Amy Poehler?

  Doing backflips?

• 57:26Speaker 07

  We gotta cut that out.

• 57:27Amy Poehler?

  Oh, I don't like, okay.

• 57:29Speaker 07

  I don't like boys.

• 57:30Amy Poehler?

Right, you don't even like boys.

• 57:31Speaker 07

  No.

• 57:31Amy Poehler?

But this is just my personal preference.

• 57:33Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 57:33Amy Poehler?

But I totally agree. Any kind of like goofy gymnastics?

• 57:37Speaker 07

Totally. I've just been like verbally and physically assaulted by too many like theater boys, theater like twinks, the straight theater twinks, who ruined my life as kids. Who are like, wait, I do a flip. And so the director was like, front and center. Front and center.

• 57:55Amy Poehler?

  They're like, do that flip!

• 57:55Speaker 07

Yeah. They're like, come on, come on Joey. And like Joey's only getting front and center because the director has a massive crush on him and he can do a flip.

• 58:03Amy Poehler?

This is before your time, but there was a movie, a great movie called The Outsiders. Do you know that movie?

• 58:08Speaker 07

  Heard of it.

• 58:08Amy Poehler?

Okay, so it was like based off of a book and it was all young Rob Lowe and young um Patrick Swayze and

• 58:15Speaker 07

  Yeah, boys.

• 58:16Amy Poehler?

  All these boys.

• 58:17Speaker 07

  Yep.

• 58:17Amy Poehler?

And Tom Cruise is famously in it. And he's one of the, and it's one of his first films and he's like one of the bad guys. And I remember being like, he's cool. And then he does a backflip in it and I was like, no, no.

• 58:28Speaker 07

Tapped out. Immediately out. Immediately out.

• 58:29Amy Poehler?

I lost, he lost it for me.

• 58:31Speaker 07

There's something about it that's a bit vulnerable. I'm like, wait, cut that out. You're a boy. What are you doing?

• 58:35Amy Poehler?

Yeah. And, and look, I've seen you lift your leg. You are very flexible.

• 58:42Amy Poehler?

Now, girls can be flexible. Boys shouldn't be flexible.

• 58:44Speaker 07

Boys shouldn't be allowed to be flexible. Cut that shit out. Cut that shit out now.

• 58:48Amy Poehler?

But I've seen you sing and lift your leg like this, where your leg is like up.

• 58:53Speaker 07

And that, that too is similar to the flipping, something that people shouldn't do.

• 58:58Amy Poehler?

That's not true. If you can do it, you should do it all the time.

• 59:01Speaker 07

If you're like dancing or doing something fucking incredible, absolutely. But like, people shouldn't do what I did. That was weird.

• 59:07Amy Poehler?

I'm gonna take back my thing though about boys and gymnastics for one thing, one reason. Two times I found men doing gymnastics exciting. One was in Footloose.

• 59:18Amy Poehler?

When Kevin Bacon's stunt double, um, during his dance break, he swung on a high bar in a barn. And I was like, okay.

• 59:27Speaker 07

  But that's cool. That's on a bar.

• 59:28Amy Poehler?

  That was cool.

• 59:29Speaker 07

That's like, what are you doing on that pole, you little slut? That's cute. That's cute. That's okay.

• 59:35Amy Poehler?

And I liked it. And it didn't bother me.

• 59:38Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 59:38Amy Poehler?

And, um, the other one was that great gymnast that was on the pommel horse that was

• 59:44Speaker 07

  With the glasses?

• 59:45Amy Poehler?

  Obsessed with him.

• 59:45Speaker 07

Okay, cute. He can do that. But that's like their, that's his job.

• 59:48Amy Poehler?

That's his job. You know what?

• 59:50Speaker 07

  That's his job.

• 59:50Amy Poehler?

If backflips are your, and splits are your job.

• 59:53Speaker 07

  Do it.

• 59:53Amy Poehler?

  Do it.

• 59:54Speaker 07

Tenfold. Go for it. Love it.

• 59:56Amy Poehler?

  You're good at your job.

• 59:56Speaker 07

  Commit.

• 59:57Amy Poehler?

If you're just doing it in the middle of the street, keep walking.

• 1:00:01Speaker 07

And I'm not saying that like, if I could flip, which I can't, so I'm not like, I'm not hating because I can't do it.

• 1:00:08Amy Poehler?

Are you, wait a minute, hold on, you just brought something up. Do you think we're hating on it because we can't do it?

• 1:00:12Speaker 07

Literally, no. I think it's weird. I'm sorry. And that, and by the way, that doesn't mean that other people should say it's weird about anybody else, okay? Because I really like, I love my friends, and if they want to flip, fucking flip. It's just not my thing. It's not my thing.

• 1:00:28Amy Poehler?

You know, if the backflippers come for us.

• 1:00:31Speaker 07

  They're gonna fucking.

• 1:00:32Amy Poehler?

Whatever. I'm ready. If the backflippers come for us, we can just run away because they're backflipping all the time.

• 1:00:38Speaker 07

  But they'll kick us.

• 1:00:39Amy Poehler?

They will kick us with their feet.

• 1:00:39Speaker 07

Think about the strength in that, in that thigh.

• 1:00:42Amy Poehler?

I mean, have you ever done this? Where, I love Law and Order, the original Law and Order, the first like 12 seasons, like with Benji Brat and.

• 1:00:49Speaker 07

  I've never watched it.

• 1:00:53Speaker 07

  I'll lock in.

• 1:00:54Amy Poehler?

It's so good with Jerry Orbach and Esipath Murkison as, um, the lieutenant. It's just like, it's, it's the early Law and Order that every, it's the, you know, sui generis, it's the mothership that all of them were based off of. And. They have that little exchange always before the bump bump. And you can sometimes guess, guess the last line.

• 1:01:18Speaker 07

  Absolutely.

• 1:01:19Amy Poehler?

  Love doing that.

• 1:01:19Speaker 07

Oh, my god. There was one last night I wish I could remember because it's just so crazy. It's so crazy. It's in, I'm like, I can't imagine delivering that line.

• 1:01:31Amy Poehler?

Right, like, there's a, you know, a body found in Central Park and someone's like, yeah, it was during the marathon, you know, and and the suspect was found here under the tree and then Jerry Oherback comes over and just goes like, "Well, I guess you're not making it to the finish line today."

• 1:01:48Speaker 07

  Exactly.

• 1:01:49Amy Poehler?

  And you're just like, huh.

• 1:01:50Speaker 07

Exactly. I cannot imagine having to deliver that line. I would walk out. I'd walk right on out of a set. I'd be like, you know what?

• 1:02:01Amy Poehler?

  I disagree. I think you'd nail it.

• 1:02:02Speaker 07

Oh, my god. I could, my like, what's it, um, suspension of disbelief or something? I'm not, ooh, I'm not good at that. If I get like, if there's a line that I'm like, I can't do this, I like totally shut down as a, as a person.

• 1:02:17Amy Poehler?

I'm gonna say that you're underestimating yourself because what I have learned about you, Renee, if I may, is that you're pretty good at overriding nerves to get, to level up. You've done it over and over again.

• 1:02:31Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:02:31Amy Poehler?

How do you get through the scary parts? What do you do?

• 1:02:36Speaker 07

I really just don't take it seriously. I just do not take it seriously because when I take myself too seriously, I panic.

• 1:02:44Amy Poehler?

  Yeah.

• 1:02:44Speaker 07

I panic because it's like oftentimes it's truly not, as much as I hate to say this, it's truly not about me. So, and no one fucking use that against me.

• 1:02:56Amy Poehler?

Okay, but you know what? I'm gonna just finish by saying this. I've seen examples of you being, you're like a very loving and supportive person in real time. And I know that about you and I heard that about you.

• 1:03:07Speaker 07

  Thank you.

• 1:03:08Amy Poehler?

Can you advocate for yourself the same way?

• 1:03:10Speaker 07

  Oh, absolutely fucking no way.

• 1:03:11Amy Poehler?

  Okay, great.

• 1:03:12Speaker 07

Oh, with a quickness, with a quickness. Yeah, because like, you know, kids are assholes, people are assholes. I was an asshole. Like, I'm sure there were so many times I can recall that like people were assholes to me when I was growing up in school. And I guarantee that there were 10,000 times that I was so mean to somebody else for no reason because I was pissed at myself or pissed off at somebody else. So like, I don't know. That's not to say that sometimes I'm not an asshole. I totally am.

• 1:03:39Amy Poehler?

Yeah, but just like how you said earlier, you may want to identify as a nice person soon.

• 1:03:44Speaker 07

I know. I might need to like tap into that like sort of like little like pigtail kind of infinity scarf girl again.

• 1:03:54Amy Poehler?

Oh my god, we're back to the infinity scarf. That was perfect, full circle, just like the infinity scarf.

• 1:03:59Speaker 07

  Totally. I'm straight again.

• 1:04:01Amy Poehler?

  You're straight again.

• 1:04:02Speaker 07

  I'm straight again.

• 1:04:02Amy Poehler?

Oh, that's what I do to people.

• 1:04:08Amy Poehler?

Sorry, ladies. I made Renee straight again.

• 1:04:10Speaker 07

  Fuck.

• 1:04:11Amy Poehler?

I know. Don't worry. We'll get her back. We'll get her out of the room. We'll get her back.

• 1:04:14Speaker 07

Yeah, come out with the lesbians. You'll be you'll be you'll be gay yourself.

• 1:04:18Amy Poehler?

  I mean, I wish.

• 1:04:19Speaker 07

Oh, my god, literally come out. We go out every weekend. Come out.

• 1:04:21Amy Poehler?

Where are you going this weekend?

• 1:04:23Speaker 07

  Literally wherever.

• 1:04:25Amy Poehler?

  Okay, that's not a place.

• 1:04:27Speaker 07

  The problem is.

• 1:04:28Amy Poehler?

  Literally wherever.

• 1:04:29Speaker 07

  The problem is.

• 1:04:29Amy Poehler?

  You go out late.

• 1:04:31Speaker 07

Um, no, well, yeah, but like you'll you'll be so fine, I promise.

• 1:04:34Amy Poehler?

What time do you get leave the house?

• 1:04:37Speaker 07

Like, what time do you want to leave the house?

• 1:04:40Amy Poehler?

I'm asking you, what time does your night start?

• 1:04:42Speaker 07

  Like, at nine.

• 1:04:43Amy Poehler?

At nine? Oh, that's not bad.

• 1:04:45Speaker 07

Yeah, because we'll get like dinner before because you need to eat if you're gonna go out.

• 1:04:48Amy Poehler?

  I can't. I can't do two things. It's either one, it's out or dinner.

• 1:04:52Speaker 07

I get it. I get it. I get it.

• 1:04:53Amy Poehler?

You know what? I'm so sorry. I can't go.

• 1:04:54Speaker 07

That's okay. That's totally okay. I'll send you.

• 1:04:56Amy Poehler?

I'm so stressed. I'm so tired about it.

• 1:04:58Speaker 07

  Don't worry. Don't worry.

• 1:05:00Amy Poehler?

And I know nine means nine thirty and then it's gonna take us a while to get our food.

• 1:05:03Speaker 07

  Lesbians.

• 1:05:04Amy Poehler?

Yeah, ten thirty and then and then my stomach is full and, you know.

• 1:05:08Speaker 07

  And antacid.

• 1:05:09Amy Poehler?

Yeah, and I'm gonna have to take a pep sit or something.

• 1:05:11Speaker 07

  That's okay.

• 1:05:12Amy Poehler?

But have a good time and tell me how it goes.

• 1:05:14Speaker 07

Hundred percent. I'll send you send you photos.

• 1:05:17Amy Poehler?

Renee, thank you so much for doing this. This is so fun.

• 1:05:19Speaker 07

  Thanks for having me.

• 1:05:20Amy Poehler?

  This was a blast.

• 1:05:23Amy Poehler?

Thank you, Renee Rapp. You were awesome. And, um, you know, this is the part of the show where I just give little shout outs. It's the polar plunge, if you will, where we go deeper.
