Uh, just a reminder that, um, tickets for Bus Boys, the movie, uh, with myself and David Spade, um, are on sale right now. Pre-sale tickets, you can get them. Um, it's in theaters April 17th. But if you get tickets now, it'll show the movie theaters that we're gonna sell them, uh, or that they are selling, and then we can expand to more theaters. So, if you know when you're gonna go and, um, and you can support, that would be great, and no pressure if you can't. Uh, again, the pre-sale tickets are available. Uh, busboysmovie.com. Um, I'm excited, thank you. Today's guest is one of the biggest country artists in the game right now. And I think for the future.

• 1:14Theo Von?

She's got that power in her voice. She's got that, you know, it's, it's, it's raw but refined. It's, it's delightful. Her new album, Dandelion, is out Friday, April 10th. Wherever you stream music, and she'll be taking it on tour as well. Uh, I'm excited to sit down today with the one of one, Miss Ella Langley.

• 1:55Theo Von?

Um, and it's a little warm here. Do y'all feel that?

• 1:57Speaker 02

  I feel great.

• 1:59Theo Von?

Damn, alright. You feel, you want a little flow?

• 2:06Speaker 02

  My little brother.

• 2:07Theo Von?

He ordered it, yeah, I know who he is. I met him on the way in.

• 2:10Speaker 02

You meet the whole family now, pretty much.

• 2:12Theo Von?

Hey, I have. I have. That guy was fresh off the, fresh off the damn boat. He seemed like he had some real grit to him.

• 2:22Theo Von?

  We'll talk about him.

• 2:23Speaker 02

  You could say that.

• 2:24Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 2:26Speaker 02

  He do?

• 2:27Theo Von?

He do. Yeah, yeah, he do. Yeah, I met y'all's granddaddy. He was a real... He definitely seemed like he could just fix a flat tire with his tongue. That guy had some grit in him.

• 2:39Speaker 02

  What?

• 2:39Theo Von?

I mean, not like in a pervert way, just, I mean, he seemed like he could just hold a car up while somebody fixed a tire.

• 2:45Speaker 02

  He does love cars.

• 2:46Theo Von?

  Does he really?

• 2:46Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 2:47Theo Von?

  I didn't know that.

• 2:48Speaker 02

  Um, Teslas. Big Tesla guy.

• 2:50Theo Von?

  He is?

• 2:51Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 2:52Theo Von?

He's like one of them future babies or whatever?

• 2:54Speaker 02

  Sure, yeah.

• 2:55Theo Von?

Like, but I mean, he's like a guy that... I don't know, I pictured him more of like a

• 3:02Theo Von?

garage type of guy, maybe? I don't know, maybe I didn't. He said he went to see the Grateful Dead, I think I remember him saying?

• 3:07Speaker 02

Yeah, he's, he's my hippie grandpa.

• 3:09Theo Von?

  Okay.

• 3:10Speaker 02

Yeah, so my parents are split in two, kinda. Like, my mom's, you met her too?

• 3:14Theo Von?

Oh yeah, I met your mom.

• 3:15Speaker 02

  Yeah, you did, you did.

• 3:17Theo Von?

Dude, I met your mom. I talked to her for probably almost 20 minutes.

• 3:19Speaker 02

I know, I came in and you were hanging out with my mom and my grandpa.

• 3:22Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 3:22Speaker 02

  What was going on here?

• 3:23Theo Von?

I don't know what was going on. Maybe it's my real family. Um, yeah, it was that Jelly Roll show.

• 3:28Speaker 02

Laney's. Jelly Roll was there, though.

• 3:31Theo Von?

Yeah, and you were on it, too.

• 3:33Speaker 02

  I walked out there.

• 3:35Theo Von?

  You sang.

• 3:36Speaker 02

  Yeah, yeah.

• 3:37Theo Von?

You guys did a great job. It was awesome.

• 3:38Speaker 02

  That was cool.

• 3:38Theo Von?

  Yeah, it was cool.

• 3:39Speaker 02

  She's so good.

• 3:40Theo Von?

Yeah, she is just really... And she like kind of embraced, I think some people get to certain points in their career where they kind of embrace being this like thing that's bigger than them.

• 3:51Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 3:52Theo Von?

And I think she like, she's done that, kinda.

• 3:56Speaker 02

Yeah, she's so good at giving her all, all the time.

• 3:59Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 4:00Speaker 02

I feel like I have to have... Time away, like recluse time. And if I don't get that, then I'm like an insane person even more than usual, really.

• 4:10Theo Von?

  That's how I am.

• 4:10Speaker 02

Yeah, but Laney dude, she just goes and goes and goes. Like even after the um CMA Awards, we went to her bar afterwards. Here she is in her last outfit or camo outfit, you know, like the cape, the badass thing she had on.

• 4:23Theo Von?

I haven't seen that. Bring up that camo. She's in a damn camo cape?

• 4:26Speaker 02

Yeah, it was really good. I loved that outfit. But she's then, she's in there shaking everyone's hand, you know, meeting everyone. She's just hosted the awards by herself and running around and.

• 4:35Theo Von?

Yeah, she kind of, yeah, she just goes. Oh, yeah. God, she looks like a nice, beautiful duck blind, I feel like.

• 4:43Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 4:44Theo Von?

I mean, I bet a lot of fellas would show up to want to hunt from that, I think. But anyway, she's also married, I think. But anyway, sorry, what are we talking about here? Um, okay, let me think about where we should start from, sorry.

• 4:57Speaker 02

Did you grow up in church?

• 4:59Theo Von?

I did. I don't think it was like the best church or whatever, though.

• 5:02Speaker 02

  What kind? What denomination?

• 5:04Theo Von?

It was like six, I think maybe six Baptist or something. I'm not even sure. It was like.

• 5:09Speaker 02

  Six Baptist?

• 5:10Theo Von?

It was like one of the, it was not, it was like, it was, yeah. It was pretty, it was wild.

• 5:17Speaker 02

Yeah, no, I grew up a Southern Baptist.

• 5:19Theo Von?

  You did?

• 5:19Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 5:20Theo Von?

  Oh, gosh.

• 5:21Speaker 02

Really, really small church. It started in a barn. Um, the house that I also grew up in, my dad grew up in. And there is an old barn across the street and it started in hay bales on that barn. And then they moved it to a church and, I mean, every Sunday and Wednesday. Till I was eighteen years old, yeah.

• 5:38Theo Von?

Was it a big part of your social life too?

• 5:40Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah. I was homeschooled for some years, so pretty much all we did was go to church.

• 5:45Theo Von?

No, in what state were you homeschooled in? Alabama?

• 5:47Speaker 02

  Yeah, South Alabama. It's Montgomery.

• 5:50Theo Von?

That's one place. I don't know if I would accept homeschooling then, to be honest, overall.

• 5:53Speaker 02

We didn't do any much school, you know. We just played outside.

• 5:58Theo Von?

Oh, yeah, but that's sometimes the best school.

• 6:00Speaker 02

It really was. It's like my imagination got to live longer than most.

• 6:06Theo Von?

Yeah, that's a good point because you kind of take kids and you put them in like this way. It's almost like being in a laboratory at a school. Like you're sitting under them, those lights or whatever. Some kids eating paste or whatever and you're supposed to like not say something.

• 6:17Speaker 02

Yeah, I got in trouble a lot. I went to kindergarten in first grade and I was always in trouble.

• 6:21Theo Von?

Like what was the crime you were guilty of?

• 6:23Speaker 02

  Talking, distracting others.

• 6:26Theo Von?

  Yeah, dude.

• 6:28Theo Von?

Bro, how great was that in school when you got back on your thing? Distracting others.

• 6:32Speaker 02

Distracting others. Um, I had like a designated seat in the corner. It was like this little green metal desk and it was facing the corner and I'd just like sit over there.

• 6:42Theo Von?

  Oh.

• 6:42Speaker 02

  I know.

• 6:44Theo Von?

Distracting others and what do you think you were distracting them from probably?

• 6:47Speaker 02

I don't know, anything, just talking.

• 6:49Theo Von?

And were you trying to get people to see you, you think, or you were just, you had something to say? What was going on there, Ella Langley?

• 6:55Speaker 02

I just think that school is boring for me. I did not like that.

• 6:59Theo Von?

  God.

• 6:59Speaker 02

I did not like it at all. The whole time, naps, hated it. What do you mean, have to sit still for this long?

• 7:05Theo Von?

Dude, we had this lady named Miss Robin. She kind of had hair like yours a little bit and she would, uh, on nap time, at when everybody's asleep, she'd come over and kind of kick me a little bit and she'd let me go out with her and watch her smoke cigarettes and shit.

• 7:16Speaker 02

So, I mean, she's pretty good. Yeah, mine.

• 7:18Theo Von?

Cool. And her husband was apparently, he had some domestic charges or whatever, but anyway, she let me spend time with her and watch her smoke.

• 7:25Speaker 02

  She probably needed it.

• 7:27Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 7:27Speaker 02

Like you're a confidant at a young age.

• 7:29Theo Von?

Yeah, dude, I was just sitting there.

• 7:30Speaker 02

  That makes sense.

• 7:31Theo Von?

Just leaning on this tire of this car.

• 7:33Speaker 02

Life lessons, this lady, you know, and you're like, well, you know, what I would do is like.

• 7:36Theo Von?

Yeah, Carl is a piece of shit. You know, just helping her out, but she would smoke and she had this kind of like, this kind of country. You know, sometimes that, when they get that feathered, real country feathered look, you know? When it has a.

• 7:49Speaker 02

  Like Farrah Fawcett.

• 7:50Theo Von?

  A lot of feathers, yeah.

• 7:52Speaker 02

  Lot of feathers going on.

• 7:53Theo Von?

Just a damn mallard of a woman, you know? Yeah, but I remember that. That was a good time. I remember. But yeah, when you got distracting others was just like, gosh.

• 8:03Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 8:04Theo Von?

And you were guilty of it, too.

• 8:06Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah. I had a bunch of eye surgeries when I was young. And so like for the muscles in my eyes.

• 8:13Theo Von?

And what happened? You had bad eye muscles?

• 8:15Speaker 02

Yeah, sometimes I'd just be a little cross-eyed.

• 8:17Theo Von?

  Uh-uh.

• 8:18Speaker 02

Yeah, sometimes. You know, well, yeah.

• 8:21Theo Von?

And you were in the choir, too? Was you just that cross-eyed girl to singing in the choir?

• 8:24Speaker 02

Everywhere I was, yeah. Everyone singing my heart out. But then I had some surgeries. And then teachers like she just is not paying attention in here. So, homeschooled until sixth grade and then seventh grade, went back to the same high school my dad went to. Graduated with thirty-two kids.

• 8:40Theo Von?

But how could you pay attention if your eyes weren't even teammates, like buddies or whatever?

• 8:45Speaker 02

No, the doctor described it to me. I just had another one, like two, maybe three years ago.

• 8:52Speaker 02

And it's kind of brutal, honestly. Like they have to take your eyeballs out.

• 8:55Theo Von?

  You're lying.

• 8:55Speaker 02

  I swear to you.

• 8:56Theo Von?

  My god.

• 8:57Speaker 02

  Get in there. It's crazy.

• 8:59Theo Von?

  And they go inside?

• 9:00Speaker 02

  Yeah, get in there.

• 9:01Theo Von?

  What's it called?

• 9:02Speaker 02

  I don't know.

• 9:03Theo Von?

  Damn.

• 9:04Speaker 02

I just called it eye surgeries.

• 9:06Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 9:07Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 9:08Theo Von?

  Yeah, that's fair.

• 9:09Speaker 02

But she described it to me like a horse and carriage, you know, when you have two horses and one can't be going this way and one can't be going this way. That is not gonna work, you know, so they gotta learn to work together. And mine just never did.

• 9:23Theo Von?

And now you got them trusty steeds in your face, huh?

• 9:25Speaker 02

Yeah, sometimes I slip up, but it's all right. That's just good character.

• 9:28Theo Von?

You can just go like that?

• 9:29Speaker 02

Yeah. I just look at everybody like this, you know what I mean?

• 9:32Theo Von?

  Yeah, get them in line?

• 9:33Speaker 02

  Wink, keep winking a lot.

• 9:34Theo Von?

Yeah. That's wild. Did y'all have, uh, did y'all have school dances at, well, I guess if you used homeschool, but if you got it, once you went to your dad's school, the same school he went to, did you guys have dances at school?

• 9:44Speaker 02

Yeah, it was like normal school.

• 9:45Theo Von?

Did y'all have like Sadie Hawkins and stuff like that? Was that kind of southern style or what was the?

• 9:49Speaker 02

No, we, it wasn't like a rich private school. Like this is out in the country. Well, Sadie Hawkins, I guess.

• 9:57Theo Von?

You had to buy a t-shirt or some, like, like the girl had to ask-

• 10:00Speaker 02

  Just like a homecoming dance?

• 10:01Theo Von?

No, the girl had to ask the guy and he had to get him a shirt that matched. You had to do matching shirts or whatever. You know, you didn't have it?

• 10:09Speaker 02

  Uh-uh.

• 10:09Theo Von?

But if y'all had to dance, what did y'all do with only that many students in the class?

• 10:14Speaker 02

And we just dan- I don't know. We just danced around. Usually, we didn't stay that long. We'd go to like a bonfire or something afterwards.

• 10:21Theo Von?

But was it hard to date, like in a school that small? Was it hard to fall, like, was it, what was the energy like that?

• 10:26Speaker 02

I mean, you've known all these people your whole life. You know their, you know what they're driving, you know what their parents drive. I mean,

• 10:31Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 10:33Speaker 02

I mean, you know how it is.

• 10:34Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 10:34Speaker 02

That's why I really, this town and this job is very similar to a small town. You get used to, um, like I kinda look at the fame thing like that now, you know? Cause when you're in a small town, like, I would hear shit about me all the time. I'm like, I did what? You know?

• 10:52Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 10:53Speaker 02

And you, I don't know, you just get used to that, so.

• 10:56Theo Von?

Do you think not being from Nashville is better coming into this kinda place? Like, is it, does it, when you get here, does it get so like, is like the music scene, uh, for lack of a better term? Is it more like, is it so some type of way, if you're from Nashville, do you think it feels different?

• 11:16Speaker 02

Probably. I mean, Ernie's from Nashville. I mean, and he's been here the whole time.

• 11:22Theo Von?

But I'm, I guess I was like, does he feel like more of a pressure, more of a responsibility? I wonder, I guess I just wonder if anything's different. Like, if you come from an outside group, does it feel tougher or does it feel easier maybe, or do you?

• 11:31Speaker 02

I think people probably in your town that you're from, look at you a little crazier. You know, I'm like sixteen years old, playing in weddings, eighteen years old. You know, I went to Auburn for two years, university. But I was playing shows the whole time.

• 11:48Theo Von?

Was that your first shows down there?

• 11:50Speaker 02

Uh, no, actually, my first show was at this tiny little bar called Bezlos. It's, um, this lake in Alabama is called Lake Martin, but there's all these little.

• 11:59Theo Von?

Dude, I've been on Lake Martin.

• 12:00Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 12:00Theo Von?

Bring up Lake Martin, dude. I can't even believe you said Lake Martin.

• 12:03Speaker 02

Yeah, uh, this is the lake I grew up going to every summer. It's one of the, actually, the biggest man-made lakes, I believe, in the.

• 12:14Speaker 02

I want to say the world, it's not the world, but I it's I think North America at least.

• 12:18Theo Von?

It could be the world. If you're from Alabama, that is the damn world.

• 12:20Speaker 02

  Exactly.

• 12:22Theo Von?

I remember when going to Florida would seem like it was like, God, somebody had went to damn mall, like they they done it. Like if somebody come back from summertime and they'd gone to Florida, they had just done it. They had won the world. Yes. Or they had a shirt on said Florida or Hard Rock.

• 12:38Speaker 02

  One of those.

• 12:39Theo Von?

Hard Rock Destin or whatever. Yes.

• 12:41Speaker 02

Whatever they do with the little air gun. What is it?

• 12:43Theo Von?

  That shit.

• 12:44Speaker 02

  An airbrush.

• 12:44Theo Von?

Yeah. Ricky's in Destin, whatever. Yeah.

• 12:48Speaker 02

  Sick sunglasses.

• 12:49Theo Von?

God, and just a fist jumping across the back or something.

• 12:51Speaker 02

Everyone has like a tan line from the weird little band you have to wear and pulls your hair the whole time.

• 12:56Theo Von?

God. Lake Martin in Alabama is considered the world's largest man-made lake. Wow. Upon its completion in nineteen twenty-six. Created by the Martin Dam on the Talapusa River. It covers approximately forty thousand to forty-four thousand acres. Yeah, I had a girlfriend when I was a child and we went out there. And her family had a lake house out there and we'd go out there, do like, uh, what's it called when you're kind of like?

• 13:19Speaker 02

  Jet skis?

• 13:19Theo Von?

Jet, uh, no, no, when you're behind the, uh, you're like on the board and you're like behind the.

• 13:24Speaker 02

  Oh, a knee boarding?

• 13:25Theo Von?

Yeah, yeah. Knee boarding, leg boarding, all of it.

• 13:28Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 13:29Theo Von?

  Full body boarding.

• 13:30Speaker 02

  Foot boarding.

• 13:30Theo Von?

Foot boarding. Yeah, just we was just boarding. I mean, you'd see somebody, oh, you'd see somebody out there on a fucking piece of plywood out there just managing that bitch along the wake. It was beautiful out there.

• 13:40Speaker 02

Yeah, that's what we did all summer.

• 13:42Theo Von?

Yeah, I loved it. And the lake life at like, lake life is different, dude. Strange shit happens out there.

• 13:47Speaker 02

Especially lake life in the country.

• 13:48Theo Von?

Yeah. There's some real perverts out there too, I will say that. Some damp perverts or whatever. Um.

• 13:55Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 13:56Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 13:56Speaker 02

  Rednecks everywhere.

• 13:58Theo Von?

Yeah. Easter just happened. Did you guys, um, do y'all do y'all do eggs for, uh, Easter?

• 14:04Speaker 02

  Deviled eggs.

• 14:05Theo Von?

  Really?

• 14:05Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 14:06Theo Von?

Y'all ever painted eggs rolling up?

• 14:07Speaker 02

No, yeah, of course we did. Yeah, dotted them, painted them.

• 14:09Theo Von?

With that little kid or whatever?

• 14:11Speaker 02

  Yeah, it's so fun.

• 14:12Theo Von?

Yeah, dude, that was really nice.

• 14:13Speaker 02

But what do you do with them afterwards?

• 14:15Theo Von?

I don't know. I think your grandpa would eat them or something. A lot of times we would drop them at like a senior center or something. Cause regular people were not having like hard boiled eggs. That was more like a senior dessert, kind of a senior delicacy, I think.

• 14:29Speaker 02

Deviled eggs are amazing. Do you like them?

• 14:31Theo Von?

Uh, I've had them once or twice, but I haven't really had them when I cared, I think.

• 14:37Speaker 02

They had a rule at church that you could only have two deviled eggs on your first go because people would fight over them. They really would. We'd have potluck every Wednesday. So like best southern food you can think of, like all these old women in there just, I mean cobblers and

• 14:51Theo Von?

  And were people

• 14:52Speaker 02

  Casserole.

• 14:52Theo Von?

Were people gambling at the, uh, at the, did they have that kind of thing too? Sometimes there's like a potluck where they gamble at a church for fun.

• 14:58Speaker 02

No, they tried not to gamble. That's the thing.

• 15:03Theo Von?

Dude, the church bus, yeah, I don't know what was going on with it. I do remember the church bus. They had like, um, it might've been like seventh day, Seventh Baptist or Seventh Day Adventist, um, Advern. And then, um, but they, but they would put those circus peanuts in wine and they would, the kids could have those like during communion. You know, you know, those orange circus peanuts that your grandparents had, they would put those.

• 15:28Speaker 02

  Disgusting.

• 15:29Theo Von?

But they're not, if you soak them in like a, a wine, like a religious wine, they're, they're not, they're good. They're pretty good when you're a kid. You know?

• 15:40Speaker 02

  I've never seen that before.

• 15:41Theo Von?

Yeah. They would have like a wine glass and you'd get one out of there and that was just for the children.

• 15:45Speaker 02

Did y'all ever go to judgment houses?

• 15:47Theo Von?

  No, what was it?

• 15:49Speaker 02

It's like, they do it around Halloween.

• 15:52Theo Von?

  Okay.

• 15:53Speaker 02

  It's like a haunted house.

• 15:54Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 15:55Speaker 02

Four Christians, I guess. Very scary. Remember our youth group took us. You get in there and it's like this car crash scene and it's pretty much like convincing you that yes, convincing you that like, you could die the second you walk out of here. So you better, better settle up.

• 16:14Theo Von?

  You better get saved.

• 16:15Speaker 02

You better get saved. And I had already been saved, but going through this affected me so bad. That at the end they were like, anyone, if you're not sure, you know, to sit down and talk. And so I like raised my hand, you know, and I sat down with the guy at the table in the booth and we had the whole conversation. I'll never forget coming home and my dad was laying on the couch watching Titanic. And he, I said, dad, I need to talk to you about something. And I was like, I got, I got saved again tonight. And he like, my dad pauses the TV. He's pissed off about something, you know what I mean? He's like, that's how you know. It's like, he said, you did what? I was like, dad, I just got so scared of this thing. He's like, baby, you not, immediately just like, well, you are kind of a dumbass. Cause you know, that's the whole point of being saved.

• 17:01Theo Von?

You had to get saved twice.

• 17:01Speaker 02

Yeah, I was so scared. It was so scary.

• 17:03Theo Von?

  Wow.

• 17:04Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 17:05Theo Von?

But you seem like a little bit of that danger baby, you know? You've always seemed like, I mean, like, I don't know you that, I don't know you very well. But you, to me, you've seemed like, kinda like that danger baby. You know, just seemed like a dang, like a hell's angel that got, you know, just took over a damn guitar city, you know? Like it just, you know, just got, went haywire in a Gibson store, you know? You just seem like that, uh, like, yeah, maybe you needed it two times.

• 17:32Speaker 02

I was maybe fearless, I think, is what it is. I don't know, I'm not.

• 17:36Theo Von?

  You feel that?

• 17:37Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 17:38Theo Von?

You feel risky or you feel fearless?

• 17:41Speaker 02

I definitely take a lot of risks. Um, and I do have a lot of fears, which is funny that I think that. But I think, I don't know, I don't necessarily view myself as the same as I think everyone views me, which is funny. Um, but yeah, I'd say fearless would be the word. I don't know. I'm just not afraid to take a chance on something, whatever it wants, I want, if I want to do it, then I just know, like, I'm gonna do it. I don't really, even if part of me doesn't want to, like, I remember thinking as a kid with this music thing, like, man, that seems like a lot. Are we sure that's really what we want to do? And it's like, there's this thing inside of me that's like, if you don't do it, you're gonna hate your life for your whole entire life. And so I was like, okay, but that still seems like a lot.

• 18:26Speaker 02

Um, but I just know when I make my mind up, I don't know.

• 18:29Theo Von?

It seems like that. I mean, just from an outsider's perspective, you just seem like, you know what's going on. Dang it.

• 18:36Speaker 02

I try to act like it.

• 18:38Theo Von?

Yeah, but sometimes that's part of it.

• 18:40Speaker 02

Really is. It's really the whole thing.

• 18:43Theo Von?

Yeah, it's like, sometimes it's like pretending till the rest of you shows up and joins you.

• 18:47Speaker 02

No one's ever lived life before. Not one person has lived-

• 18:51Theo Von?

  Has what?

• 18:52Speaker 02

Lived life before. You know what I mean? It's my first attempt at life as a human being, you know what I mean? Every, and so it's yours and everyone else's and it's funny, just, I think people forget that.

• 19:02Theo Von?

Yeah, there's never a lot of credit for that. It's never like-

• 19:04Speaker 02

It's like, it's my first go.

• 19:06Theo Von?

We hope people do a lot of like, serious stuff and we're never like, "Yeah, you know what? It's your first time."

• 19:12Speaker 02

It's your first time. God, maybe we need to nap.

• 19:15Theo Von?

Yeah, yeah, dude. And first of all, if they had naps for adults, for everybody, it would all be so nice.

• 19:24Speaker 02

Yeah, but a nap goes one of two ways for me. I either wake up and I'm like, "Oh, I'm so glad that I got that." Or I wake up and I'm hell on earth.

• 19:33Theo Von?

  Really?

• 19:34Speaker 02

Mad, upset, my day's kind of ruined. I don't know. I don't know. I just, I'm like, "God, I just wish I'd go back to sleep." It's one of those things you either power through or you don't.

• 19:42Theo Von?

Well, you just sound damn volatile, Ella.

• 19:44Speaker 02

  I'm not.

• 19:45Theo Von?

  You're not? You sure?

• 19:46Speaker 02

I think you're the only one saying that.

• 19:48Theo Von?

I, I could be true. You might be right. You might be right. Maybe this is that people have a perception of you that's not exact, you know? Or that, I mean, nobody's perception of somebody else is, but, um, or rarely, but yeah, maybe people have that perception of you. Did, um, whenever you were first doing shows, did they ever have like some fights at your shows or anything like that? Like, were you in some real honky-tonks?

• 20:07Speaker 02

Yeah. I've played every kind of show you can possibly imagine.

• 20:10Theo Von?

  Same, same.

• 20:12Speaker 02

Like, I mean, restaurants, weird little wing, sports bar things.

• 20:19Theo Von?

  Funeral?

• 20:20Speaker 02

Oh, yeah. Funerals, so many funerals, weddings. I started out with weddings. That was my first gig ever.

• 20:27Speaker 02

Who would ever hire a 15-year-old to play while you're walking down the aisle? I don't know.

• 20:31Theo Von?

If they're decent, maybe, or if they're cheap.

• 20:33Speaker 02

  I don't know. Yeah, well, $200, baby.

• 20:36Theo Von?

  Hey.

• 20:36Speaker 02

And I was like, "I am rich."

• 20:38Theo Von?

Decent and cheap, that'd be my first album if I ever had one.

• 20:42Speaker 02

But I don't know. It was always just-

• 20:45Theo Von?

But did they have fights in any, they ever have a good? You ever see a good?

• 20:48Speaker 02

  All the time.

• 20:49Theo Von?

  Yeah?

• 20:49Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 20:49Theo Von?

  You ever get in one?

• 20:50Speaker 02

I watched one guy get arrested in Tuscaloosa selling coke right in front of me on the floor. And there I am just still playing, you know?

• 20:56Theo Von?

  No way.

• 20:57Speaker 02

Yeah. Random, I, I played a lot at the Florabama.

• 21:00Theo Von?

He's choosing prison, I can tell, huh?

• 21:02Speaker 02

  Down there, yeah, I mean.

• 21:03Theo Von?

  That's crazy.

• 21:05Speaker 02

Played, um, one of my last gigs I played, I fell through the stage, like my last cover gigs. I did that for a while. And I didn't ever like-

• 21:12Theo Von?

What, like a finishing act or something?

• 21:14Speaker 02

  Hmm?

• 21:15Theo Von?

Was it like a finishing, like?

• 21:16Speaker 02

No, I just there, the stage was terrible. It's low budget.

• 21:20Theo Von?

Oh, you just on some bad wood or something, huh?

• 21:22Speaker 02

Yeah, just the, they put a rug over it thinking if she can't see this hole there, you know?

• 21:27Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 21:28Speaker 02

But, yeah, played pretty much any and everything.

• 21:32Theo Von?

And what is this? Oh, that's you right there?

• 21:35Speaker 02

Oh, wow. Yeah, it is, I guess. Oh, that's at my, um, family reunion. I think I was like five, four or five.

• 21:42Theo Von?

  Is that only like Martin?

• 21:44Speaker 02

No, that's in Brantley, Alabama. That's way out in the country. Funny about this is when we, I remember my, when we pulled up here and my dad was like, "We got the family reunion down here at the whale, a buried whale out here."

• 21:56Theo Von?

  Mm-hmm.

• 21:57Speaker 02

And as a kid, I was like, "A buried whale? Why would they bury a whale all the way out here?"

• 22:02Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 22:03Speaker 02

And you know, it, I asked my dad about that and he said, "I was saying well, whale."

• 22:10Theo Von?

A buried whale out there. Dude, yeah, I remember I used to have to clean out wishing wells in our area. They had this thing where they was trying to do like, I guess, make money for the area or something, or like a, get a tourist thing. And so, they had, they installed like a lot of wishing wells and stuff. And I got a job one summer cleaning them out. So you'd get down there and have to get down in them, yeah.

• 22:33Speaker 02

  I've never seen that happen.

• 22:34Theo Von?

Yeah, yeah, somebody gets in there. And I had very small kind of lean wrists and everything at the time. I said, "Let me get down in there." And you'd bring up all the stuff and like put it on the side. And you got to keep some of the change, but then some of it, you had to give to the city. Um, but you find a lot of people, a lot of just throw a lot of junk down the recyclables, kind of a lot of to-go orders, to-go barbecue, kind of seemed like anyway.

• 22:57Speaker 02

You gotta keep some of the change?

• 22:58Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 22:59Speaker 02

You just got to pick out which ones you kept?

• 23:01Theo Von?

No, they kinda, you gave it to them and uh, and then they let you, they kind of gave you some back.

• 23:06Speaker 02

Alright, well that's kinda nice. That's a good gig, I guess.

• 23:08Theo Von?

I liked it. Yeah, I really enjoyed it. Um, and I found a sword in there too, like a, I don't wanna say a-

• 23:13Speaker 02

  What?

• 23:14Theo Von?

Yeah. I found like a, I think it was-

• 23:16Speaker 02

  What kind of sword?

• 23:17Theo Von?

I think it was a dang, I don't wanna say like a murder weapon or something, but I think it was a-

• 23:21Speaker 02

  A murder weapon sword?

• 23:23Theo Von?

I think it was a weapon. It looked like it had, uh, been used.

• 23:26Speaker 02

Can you imagine you murder someone and then you throw, your place to throw it in is a wishing well?

• 23:30Theo Von?

  Yeah, I think so.

• 23:31Speaker 02

  What?

• 23:31Theo Von?

I wish I hadn't killed him maybe, just throw that bastard in there.

• 23:34Speaker 02

  Hit the reverse on that.

• 23:36Theo Von?

Well, I think that's how wishing wells got their name. It's like, you dropped your money in a hole and you just wish you hadn't, probably.

• 23:43Speaker 02

  Yeah, maybe.

• 23:44Theo Von?

That's what I think, maybe. Um.

• 23:48Theo Von?

• 26:19Speaker 02

  No.

• 26:20Theo Von?

Anybody ever try it from the audience or anything like that?

• 26:22Speaker 02

No. Lot of drunks just, you know, spilling their drinks all over the place, bumping into my microphone stand. I've had that happen a lot. Oh, that's the worst. When they hit the end of it, it just pops you right in the mouth.

• 26:32Theo Von?

Oh, yeah, because you're not really expecting that?

• 26:34Speaker 02

Well, they're just so close to the stage and you're playing college bars.

• 26:37Theo Von?

Yeah. So a lot of college activity over there?

• 26:40Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 26:41Theo Von?

And was your family an Auburn fan growing up then?

• 26:43Speaker 02

Yeah. My mom's from Michigan, like I said, so she just kind of never really cared about that stuff. My dad was an Auburn fan, but yeah, that's kind of our football thing. It's Alabama or Auburn.

• 26:53Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 26:54Speaker 02

There's no NFL team in Alabama, so.

• 26:56Theo Von?

Yeah. And does your folks, um, your folks are still together?

• 26:59Speaker 02

  Hmm? Yeah. Yes, they are.

• 27:03Theo Von?

And do you think like, what, what makes you laugh about that?

• 27:06Speaker 02

Um, it's been a wild ride, but, um.

• 27:10Theo Von?

  But they haven't given up?

• 27:12Speaker 02

  Nope. Perseverance.

• 27:14Theo Von?

  Pretty cool.

• 27:15Speaker 02

It is really cool. It's really cool to see how they are now. Um, because I think there were a lot of years we were all like, y'all sure you like each other, you know?

• 27:22Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 27:23Speaker 02

Um, but they did. They really stick, stuck it out.

• 27:26Theo Von?

  God.

• 27:27Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 27:28Theo Von?

Was there, was there like a time when your parents were like, that they always, that they always say like, oh, well, we knew when this happened that she was going to be a, did they have that kind of thing, you know? Or like, we knew when she, you know?

• 27:40Speaker 02

My grandparents on my dad's side, um, pretty much raised me at their house. I lived over there. They uh, they, my grandpa could play anything by ear. He was, they were a lot older. My grandma was forty-five when she had my dad.

• 27:53Theo Von?

  Oh, wow.

• 27:54Speaker 02

Yeah, um, but I was like the first girl in the family and I started to match pitch with her as a baby. And so she figured out I could sing and she just like, singing was her thing. And my grandpa could, like I said, play any instrument by ear. And so at their house, that's all we did.

• 28:10Theo Von?

You was a little baby bird, huh?

• 28:11Speaker 02

Oh, yeah. That's all we did. And they were like, this is what she's gonna do. And so they, yeah, that's my grandpa right there.

• 28:17Theo Von?

And they just put you out on the windowsill out there?

• 28:19Speaker 02

I sang at church a lot. I, I learned how to read from singing hymnals. Um, but yeah, I mean, all I did, and I really just, the whole time, like my whole family, we all just were like, this is what she's gonna do.

• 28:32Theo Von?

  They just knew it.

• 28:33Speaker 02

  The whole time.

• 28:34Theo Von?

Was there a scary point for you? Like when you kind of like got a little bit spooked? I remember whenever I met you, one thing I do remember you saying is that, I just knew that this is what I was, this is what I was doing, right? I was so determined. And um, I've talked to like Trey Lewis, I know you and him are friends and uh, he, he mentioned that, right? Whenever I ran into him one night, we were watching your show at the knitting com- knitting factory, maybe?

• 28:58Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 28:58Theo Von?

Someplace, I can't remember. It might have been the Bluebird or Threes.

• 29:02Speaker 02

I don't know. I'm terrible at remembering these.

• 29:04Theo Von?

It was a musical place. And he said, she's just always been so determined, right?

• 29:10Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 29:10Theo Von?

Um, was there a part though, when you like, even your own determination came up against like,

• 29:17Theo Von?

this just feels like it's gonna be tougher than I thought, or I don't know if this is the way, or did it never get to that point for you?

• 29:25Speaker 02

I think I always knew it was gonna be tough. I mean, how many people move to this town in a day to do this job? Um, I don't know. There's just, it's scary all the time because I love it. It's truly a part of who I am. Like, my whole life, I've done it and wanted to do it and thought about it every day, like, daydreamed. Every time I'm in the car, I mean, hours and hours alone dropping from gigs. Um.

• 29:49Theo Von?

  Like dreaming about what? Just?

• 29:50Speaker 02

Just doing this, literally doing what I'm doing, like playing on stages and writing songs and getting to do this craft for a living, you know? Um. And I just feel like not everything always works out for me in my life. And so I like to leave like very little room for error, you know? And so I think like just keeping my head down and I'm definitely my toughest critic. You know, like when I watch something, I'm never like, oh yeah, I crushed that. Never ever, very rarely do I walk off stage and I'm like, I was amazing out there. I'm always just like, dude, I was, what was that shit that I just said? That was so, what the fuck is wrong with me? Like, why would I say that?

• 30:30Theo Von?

Well, it must be crazy then, because you seem like such a like a loot, like, kind of like, almost say, you'll say whatever, you just kind of save your.

• 30:38Speaker 02

  I do, that's the thing.

• 30:39Theo Von?

And then to be such a tough critic of that person is, that's a lot of, that's a lot of extra stress, it feels like.

• 30:45Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah, I'm getting better at it for sure.

• 30:47Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 30:47Speaker 02

It's weird, um, but I'm sure you understand this, like looking at yourself through the eyes of others. Like, no one should know this many thoughts about themselves. Like, when everyone's like, what superpower do you want? I'm never understood when people were like, I want to be able to read minds. Like, fuck that, I do not want to know what somebody's thinking.

• 31:05Theo Von?

Because half these people, I wouldn't either, dude, especially if you're at like, someplace and everybody's just a damn pervert or something, you know?

• 31:12Speaker 02

Oh, yeah, oh, no way, man, no way.

• 31:14Theo Von?

Even if you're at like, even if you're just at a dang, um, uh, Golden Corral, no matter where you are, everybody is like, I bet you would read mine, you'd be like, oh my god.

• 31:24Speaker 02

My dad loves a Golden Corral or a Shoney's.

• 31:26Theo Von?

Dude, my stepdad, he was in one of the wars and, um,

• 31:30Speaker 02

  One of them.

• 31:31Theo Von?

He would, dude, after, they would go to like the Golden Corral, whatever it was, like Chinese Corral or something, or like, um, the Yellow Bin or whatever it was called, uh, he would sit, he would sit my mom in the car and then he would go back in and apologize for fighting these, who, who we thought were like the same ethnicity people when he was in like Iwo Jima or something like that.

• 31:53Speaker 02

He'd go back in and apologize every time?

• 31:55Theo Von?

Yeah, he would go back in and just kind of say, You know, give his peace, you know? And it was like this moment that he kind of had, you know, where? And I think it's probably like that for some people. That's like, they probably went and fought in a war and then the only people they ever saw from that culture again? Was that like a, if a small restaurant popped up in their town forty years later? That's gotta be crazy.

• 32:17Speaker 02

Yeah, they all, I don't know, I can't imagine that. I'm very interested in that. That's, one of my favorite things to read about is historical fiction.

• 32:25Theo Von?

Yeah? You watch ever any of those war movies?

• 32:29Speaker 02

Yeah, my dad loves a war movie, Jarheads. I don't know how many times that's been on in our living room.

• 32:33Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. Yeah, dude, my uncle even has the soundtrack to Jarheads. I'm like, who has the soundtrack to this shit?

• 32:39Speaker 02

  On CD or what?

• 32:40Theo Von?

I think it might be, he said it was Blu-ray. He went, he went like, he went all in on Blu-ray.

• 32:46Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 32:46Theo Von?

  And he lost a lot.

• 32:48Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 32:49Theo Von?

But yeah, dude, I like some of those war movies. I think it just make you feel something, you know?

• 32:54Speaker 02

Yeah, feels like you're learning a little.

• 32:56Theo Von?

Feels like you're learning a little, but also, yeah. And it makes you feel something. I like something if there, I'll say this, if there's a little bit of loss in something? I like that shit.

• 33:06Speaker 02

  Yeah, keeps your attention going.

• 33:08Theo Von?

I like something that's got a little bit of loss in it.

• 33:11Theo Von?

Some of your music, and probably a decent amount of it, to me, seems like, it's like about, uh, kind of like, like wanting love or hoping for love, but not like, kind of being able to make it work or, um, I'm trying to think what I'm trying to say.

• 33:32Speaker 02

I think you're doing great. That was a good question so far.

• 33:34Theo Von?

  They are?

• 33:35Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 33:35Theo Von?

Thanks, dude. Yeah, I think I just get, sometimes I get worried or not, I don't know. I mean, I get nervous.

• 33:41Speaker 02

I was so nervous before I came in here today.

• 33:43Theo Von?

  Were you?

• 33:43Speaker 02

  So nervous, yes.

• 33:45Theo Von?

Why? What do you mean? You're the most confident person there is.

• 33:47Speaker 02

  I don't know, I, well.

• 33:50Theo Von?

  You are, you know?

• 33:51Speaker 02

Well, I mean, you gotta put on the suit.

• 33:54Theo Von?

That's true. And the rest you'll show up?

• 33:56Speaker 02

That's something that I told you I learned, you know, Southern Baptists in a small town is you learn to put on a face a little bit, you know what I mean? You can't let everyone know everything that's going on all the time, but also it's like, I run out of the ability to do that, so.

• 34:11Theo Von?

We get burnt out of it?

• 34:12Speaker 02

Yeah, and I just, that's been something I've had to work really hard on is the mental of this game. And I knew the whole time that would be the toughest thing for me.

• 34:21Theo Von?

  Really?

• 34:21Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 34:22Theo Von?

Well, you can't pin yourself to the way somebody else operates. That's something that I've done over the years, like, if they can do it, I can do it. I'm not the same person as them, right? And our paths aren't the same.

• 34:34Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 34:34Theo Von?

And I, I mean, I burnt, I've, I've floored it for 200 miles when I had nothing at the time.

• 34:40Speaker 02

Well, I think it's because you are similar in the way where you're like, you kind of fly through life by the seat of your pants, you know what I mean? And it's like, you're just following your gut on what you should do with your life. And instead of like, you know, if you go to school to be a doctor, like, you know, you do this many years of school to go and you're gonna do this. And it's like, we have no idea how this is gonna, every single day is different. Every single day, something could happen that could change our lives for the best or the worst, and you just never know.

• 35:07Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 35:08Speaker 02

And, um, so I think like you, you learn this skill to,

• 35:14Speaker 02

you know, watch others in the way where you learn, you know? And I think in the beginning, it pushed me. I would always like compare my work ethic to, Laney was a great one for me, you know?

• 35:24Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 35:25Speaker 02

Um, but I don't know how, she's superhuman. I, I, I don't know how she does what she does. Um, but yeah, I'm, I'm different than that, you know, like, I have to go be in my house and.

• 35:36Theo Von?

  Recharge.

• 35:37Speaker 02

  Recharge.

• 35:38Theo Von?

  Rest.

• 35:38Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 35:39Theo Von?

Take time, same. I gotta do, I mean, I'm getting dang IVs, I'm petting animals for peace or whatever. They have this.

• 35:46Speaker 02

  Yeah, IVs are good.

• 35:47Theo Von?

They got a peace petting place that's out there and you go pet those horses for peace or whatever?

• 35:51Speaker 02

  I just got some horses.

• 35:52Theo Von?

  Did you?

• 35:53Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 35:53Theo Von?

God, I'm thinking about getting a Doberman, it's big, bud.

• 35:57Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 35:57Theo Von?

  It's nothing like that.

• 35:58Speaker 02

Be cra- if you came in riding a Doberman and it was big enough to do that, it's like you found Clifford, but he's a Doberman this time.

• 36:04Theo Von?

And Ernest is on the other one, dude?

• 36:06Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah, but he's actually on Clifford.

• 36:08Theo Von?

  Yeah. He's dressed like.

• 36:11Speaker 02

He has his grill in for sure.

• 36:14Theo Von?

There's like a hundred shades of earnest. That's the crazy, and there's nobody who has like, is such a chameleon, I think, in humanity as earnest, you know?

• 36:23Speaker 02

  What a guy.

• 36:24Theo Von?

Oh, my question, so I feel like a lot of your songs are about like wanting to like, find a love or connect with love, but also like about like wanting independence, you know?

• 36:37Theo Von?

Do you feel like you have like commitment issues when it comes to that kind of stuff? Or, or do you feel like some of your songs stem from that sort of thing? Or, like, do you find like a, like a common like root for some of your, uh, purpose in your music?

• 36:53Speaker 02

You know, I think that's the thing that sometimes people think about too much, honestly. Where it's like, what is the purpose to everything? What is the, what is the finished product? I don't know, I'm only 26, like.

• 37:06Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 37:06Speaker 02

It's like, I'm just writing about, I'm not going in the room thinking, okay, I need an up tempo song today, and I need it to be perfect for radio, or I need to write this type of acoustic thing, you know? Like, I'm going in there and just writing songs, like whatever comes out that day comes out, you know? And I, I'm really big on not forcing, um, not forcing, you know? Just if I feel like I'm in there and I'm not having fun, I'm like, why are we doing this? I somehow got to do the job I've always wanted to do. No way I'm not gonna let it be fun when we're sitting in here writing these songs, you know? So yeah, I don't know, just sometimes like, I'll have a title that I really wanna write, or someone in the room will say something, and then it's just like, if all of you click on that title, like you gotta chase it.

• 37:50Speaker 02

So, yeah, I mean, and obviously, I mean, me being 26, uh, and not married, like,

• 37:58Speaker 02

I've been dating, you know? I've been trying to figure that portion of my life out too.

• 38:03Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 38:03Speaker 02

Which is complicated when you have pretty much given your everything to this one.

• 38:12Speaker 02

  Thing, you know?

• 38:13Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. I mean, that's, yeah. I can relate to that. I spent so much, so much time working that, yeah, it's like, this was my first love. I liked work the most. And because work was reliable, it's like I knew what I got in. What I, what I put into this, I'm gonna get out of this. One way or the other, and I'll, I'll know if it's fair or not. I'll know if it's a fair amount because I'll know how much I put in. Uh, that, that part of myself I can't lie to. So it's like, I'll know. And it's an even, it'll be even. It may not be exactly what I want. But it'll be, it will be fair.

• 38:46Speaker 02

But you know you gave it your all.

• 38:47Theo Von?

Yes, and to me, I know, I, I know, and so I know I will expect a certain return. And there's not somebody else there that like, when, when it's a human for me, it's like, that's just too. It's like whenever you first learn to ride that bike and you're doing that or whatever. You know what I'm saying? And then you just, you forget that like the, you're like turning the handlebars like this. You think they're the pedals and you just.

• 39:09Speaker 02

If this starts happening, you're falling, you're going down. You're going down. That's the scariest feeling ever.

• 39:14Theo Von?

  The worst, yeah.

• 39:15Speaker 02

Oh, so many scars from asphalt.

• 39:17Theo Von?

And then you hit the neighbor's gate or whatever and somebody just called you like a queer yell, something like that or something, you know?

• 39:23Speaker 02

That's the worst. I hate when that used to happen.

• 39:25Theo Von?

Yeah, and it's your dad driving by.

• 39:26Speaker 02

It's definitely your dad. It would definitely my dad.

• 39:30Theo Von?

And you haven't even seen him in like two years and you're like, this is how he shows up?

• 39:34Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 39:34Theo Von?

Um, but yeah, that's something I think about knowing what you're gonna, like what you put in is what you're gonna get out. Do you feel like, um, because now you've kind of hit this level of popularity that's a little bit different? And that's kind of scary, right?

• 39:49Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 39:50Theo Von?

I mean, it's cool. There's a lot of great things. But that, to me, that feels interesting because you kind of like,

• 39:58Theo Von?

you almost can't put, put it back in the tube in a way. It's like, it's like, you know, like you can't like, once you kind of cross over a certain like threshold of like, people knowing you, you kind of can't, like, you know, your life can change and maybe, you know, people come and go in, in popularity. But. You kind of can't go back to not being

• 40:19Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 40:19Theo Von?

  Someone that wasn't known.

• 40:21Speaker 02

I think um that's another one of the hardest parts for me and it's I think it's just people treating you differently.

• 40:29Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 40:29Speaker 02

I I just it's weird when somebody comes up and they're just like. It makes sense to me because if I were to see Stevie Nicks in the grocery store like I would be a little like. You know.

• 40:40Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 40:41Speaker 02

But it's weird when it's yourself, you know, like someone's coming up to you and they're like, oh my god, I'm gonna throw up on your shoes. You're like, whoa, like, I am so weird, like, just, you know, immediately try to like level myself in a way, but um yeah. That's an odd part, but it is cool. I'm starting to I'm getting past the stage of like. What like that because it was so in the beginning so new like it was weird when somebody knew who I was or. When I'm sitting at the table out to eat with friends or family and somebody's like, hey, can I get seven selfies with you and I'm like. Have like a half a meatball in my mouth. I'm like, bro, that's crazy.

• 41:18Theo Von?

Or you haven't even washed up or you just don't even feel like a certain way.

• 41:21Speaker 02

Bathroom. Have you ever had one ask you, is someone in the bathroom? You're like, bro, no. No. And then if you say no, I've had a girl, I was making my whole band do this ab workout routine. We were in P fitness somewhere around the world. And uh this girl comes up to me mid crunch. She's like, can I have a picture? And then I like it was in the beginning and now I would be like, probably not right now. Yeah. I'll sign whatever, you know what I mean? Just pick pick better time, but.

• 41:47Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. In the beginning, you'll give it all. You'll give.

• 41:49Speaker 02

Yeah. But then I get up to take the picture with her and she's just like, no, no, I just want to take one of you. You ever get that when they're like, want to take one of you and say it with you and you're like, I was like, no, no, no. If I'm sweating in this, you are too.

• 42:00Theo Von?

Yeah. So you're just what some kind of pervert or whatever? Or you're just making a time capsule? Or something you don't say you're just capturing me to keep me.

• 42:07Speaker 02

No, I just want to take one of you.

• 42:08Theo Von?

Yeah, I'm not doing all that.

• 42:09Speaker 02

What's your pose if someone to take one of you, you know?

• 42:12Theo Von?

I'll tell you a funny story. I can't. Oh, I'll tell them no. If somebody's like, I just want to take one of you.

• 42:17Speaker 02

  Yeah, you're like, no.

• 42:18Theo Von?

I'm like, get you get over here, you little urch and you're getting in this bitch with me. If I have to stand here and look like shit, you do too.

• 42:24Speaker 02

  That's what I said.

• 42:24Theo Von?

Yeah. Dude, a couple, probably like a year and a half ago, I started to have like, because we would do meeting greets after every shows and, and maybe some of this sounds like, kind of woe is me, like popularity talk. And, and I'm not meaning that. I'm grateful that people come out to shows and, and um, and I've been to a couple of your shows and I'm grateful, I'm excited to go to more of them. Um, I'm excited to come to that one in Tuscaloosa where you and Morgan are playing together and then I know, I know your, your own tour and your new album that's gonna come out. Um, but, uh, yeah, but.

• 43:00Speaker 02

  Nice.

• 43:01Theo Von?

I must, I couldn't smile anymore. This smi- this muscles in my mouth.

• 43:05Speaker 02

Oh, yes. You started doing that fidget thing?

• 43:08Theo Von?

Yes. And then it got to the point where I just didn't even believe it anymore. My mouth had just, there was some disconnection between like my true feelings and a smile because these were all like kind of put on smiles and some of them are real but, you know, you're, you're just like, smile, you know, there's smile cheese, that type of thing. So, I had to start doing this. So in all my-

• 43:30Speaker 02

  That's how that started?

• 43:31Theo Von?

Yes. So in all my pictures, I was like, I have to make another face and this on me like, it looked a little too like people are gonna get scared or the kids are gonna kind of be scared a little bit, so.

• 43:41Speaker 02

I think that's kind of nice.

• 43:43Theo Von?

So I'd do like, you know, like.

• 43:46Speaker 02

  Just anything?

• 43:47Theo Von?

Yeah, but because this just started.

• 43:49Speaker 02

  Yeah, that, that.

• 43:51Theo Von?

  See?

• 43:51Speaker 02

Yeah. But just the, the closed mouth smile was nice. Well, no, no. That was different. You didn't do it the same that time.

• 43:59Theo Von?

Let me try one more time.

• 44:02Speaker 02

  Yeah, well, no.

• 44:05Theo Von?

  Kind of close.

• 44:05Speaker 02

Try one more time, but don't squint your lips so much. Let them loose, leave them loose a little. Start from the start, how you came in.

• 44:11Theo Von?

Okay. Whoa, what's happening? Nothing much.

• 44:15Speaker 02

  Yeah, that right there.

• 44:17Theo Von?

  Thank you.

• 44:17Speaker 02

Take a picture of that. Practice.

• 44:20Theo Von?

  You're an artist. You're a conductor.

• 44:22Speaker 02

  Well, thank you.

• 44:22Theo Von?

She's a conductor. Um, yeah, I remember the first time I saw, I was like, uh, because I didn't know like as your, your popularity really, I guess, the first time that I met you and I remember I said something like, man, Laney really does such a great job of controlling the stage because I was kind of compliment, complimenting her because she really does. And you were, I, I can't remember what you said, but it was something like.

• 44:44Theo Von?

I don't know if I said like something like.

• 44:45Speaker 02

No, you were like, you should try running or you should try running around the stage like that or something.

• 44:50Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 44:51Speaker 02

Yeah. And I was like, first of all, you ain't never ever been to a show, so you know.

• 44:55Theo Von?

I know. To show up and be judgmental like that.

• 44:58Speaker 02

  Yeah. And then that, yeah.

• 45:00Theo Von?

I think I was just nervous.

• 45:01Speaker 02

I kind of move around a little bit. Well, I've thought about that moment multiple times because I'm like, should I move around more? Like, is that like, has he seen things that I should do like?

• 45:10Theo Von?

  No.

• 45:10Speaker 02

You should come to rehearsals and let me know?

• 45:12Theo Von?

I think I was just nervous and I probably didn't know what to say and it was a woman and so I was just trying to say something. And maybe it wasn't, yeah, I just didn't do the best supportive job, probably.

• 45:21Speaker 02

  Well, it panned out.

• 45:23Theo Von?

But, yeah, I've seen it since and I'm not even gonna weigh in anymore.

• 45:28Speaker 02

No, I really like it. No, it really made me think extra hard about that. I was like, damn, the other thing is I'm lazy on stage.

• 45:34Theo Von?

  No, I didn't think lazy. I didn't know. I had no idea.

• 45:38Speaker 02

  A little lazy?

• 45:39Theo Von?

  No. I just.

• 45:40Speaker 02

I can't, she run, I don't know how she does it. She does the whole spin thing.

• 45:43Theo Von?

  Now, she does a lot.

• 45:45Speaker 02

  I told you, she is.

• 45:47Theo Von?

She does a whole, like, fantasia, almost like that, like, yeah, she does.

• 45:51Speaker 02

When she does that spin thing, I would fall down 100%.

• 45:56Theo Von?

Just swinging that donkey around. I'm like, what is even going on out here? She has got it.

• 46:03Speaker 02

Yeah, that's probably what it is. I ain't got no balance like that, you know what I mean? I ain't even doubt, you know?

• 46:08Theo Von?

She's got them ballast tanks on her, you know?

• 46:10Speaker 02

She's like set up to go.

• 46:11Theo Von?

Oh, she's a pontoon, I'll tell you that.

• 46:13Speaker 02

  She's locked in.

• 46:14Theo Von?

Yes, she's locked in. But no, what a great person to learn from and be around and even just to watch like the things that she does and just to notice all those things like how is she able to engage with people so much, you know? I don't know how Jelly Roll did it. Jelly Roll got burnt out, though.

• 46:28Speaker 02

  He's the same way.

• 46:29Theo Von?

  But he got burnt out.

• 46:30Speaker 02

Yeah, I think it happens to everybody.

• 46:32Theo Von?

  It'll get you.

• 46:33Speaker 02

Yeah, I mean, no one's, no one's actually.

• 46:36Theo Von?

  Doing it all.

• 46:36Speaker 02

Yeah, I mean, everyone gets burnt out.

• 46:38Theo Von?

Yeah. Did, um, was there a moment where you kind of had to take it like a step back, you take a vacation? What do you do like for that sort of thing? Have you learned to incorporate that into things? Because you're already back out here. You're gonna go on tour again.

• 46:51Speaker 02

Yeah, um, I don't, I'm still figuring it out. I think my team's figuring out a little better how to schedule in the time that's needed. But when you're in this boom moment, it's hard to say no. I mean, you're saying no to stuff that I'm like, I do kind of want to do that, you know? But it's like. You know, I'm thinking of things six months down the road. I'm like, I'll be able to do that. And then I get there, I'm like, oh, my gosh, like, I'm dying. Why did I, oh, do that?

• 47:16Theo Von?

What am I doing in this lemonade drinking contest?

• 47:18Speaker 02

If I turn it down, you know, sometimes I'm like, come on, you can't, what's wrong with you? Why you can't do that? You're gonna be, some people would kill to be playing that, you know? And then I have that whole thing. So, uh, last year, um, it just, like I said, I think the, the mental game for me is definitely the hardest part of this job. Like, I can do the gigs, I can do the shows, I can do that. And, um, I don't know, the,

• 47:46Speaker 02

  the burnout, I guess.

• 47:47Theo Von?

Like, thinking you can work through it, I'll fight through it, I'll figure it out?

• 47:50Speaker 02

Yeah, and I, I mean, Lord, we, we toured pretty much, minus a couple of weeks here and there, from 2022 to 2025, you know, and, I mean, hot and heavy, most of that was in a van, you know, and then one bus and we're all packed on there and it was still like, it just happened so fast. So it's like, we're still doing these things, but these things are happening. And so everyone from the outside is like, man, that's pretty nice. And you're like, well, you know, we're still getting there, we're still doing our best.

• 48:19Theo Von?

Yeah. And a van, people don't get even enough credit for even being in a damn van.

• 48:24Speaker 02

Somebody asked me the other day, they're like, do you miss that? I'm like, hell, no, I don't miss that.

• 48:29Theo Von?

I think people should get a tax credit for being in a damn van, dude.

• 48:32Speaker 02

  We did years of that.

• 48:33Theo Von?

If I see a van pull up, any van, and somebody gets out of the back of it,

• 48:37Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 48:38Theo Von?

  I start clapping immediately.

• 48:39Speaker 02

  Immediately.

• 48:40Theo Von?

I don't care what they're doing. I don't care if they are, you know, very religious and that's, you know, and the side door's broken or whatever, or they are just a big family.

• 48:49Speaker 02

I always wondered what people thought we were, um, traveling around when they'd see us get out at a gas station. And it was just like, me, my photographer, Kaylee, and a whole bunch of tattooed guys, just crawling out of a van, looking disheveled, smelling like Doritos, probably.

• 49:05Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 49:05Speaker 02

  And whiskey.

• 49:06Theo Von?

Doritos are good at, at over 50 miles an hour in a damn van.

• 49:10Speaker 02

I lived off some gas station food for years. Taquitos from the gas station.

• 49:14Theo Von?

  They're good. They're good.

• 49:16Speaker 02

  In the moment.

• 49:17Theo Von?

Yeah, but some of my problem is if you, I'll get a bag and then I'll, I'll go get them in the middle of the night and get more of them.

• 49:24Speaker 02

Yeah. You ever get a crunchy one where it just ruined the whole thing? It's like,

• 49:28Theo Von?

  Uh-uh, the Taquitos?

• 49:29Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 49:30Theo Von?

  I like them crunchy.

• 49:31Speaker 02

  Or a hot dog.

• 49:32Theo Von?

Oh, hot dogs are good, but they're just, sometimes they don't, they don't honestly tell you how long they've been on that twirler. Out there on the little riverboat thing.

• 49:41Speaker 02

They just put them back out there every so often.

• 49:44Theo Von?

What is that? They put a bunch of hair curlers together and started just grilling them bitches.

• 49:47Speaker 02

Who knows what kind of meat is really in those things?

• 49:49Theo Von?

Bro, that ain't no fucking meat in that.

• 49:53Theo Von?

What are you talking about? Dude, this is some, this ain't no meat, bro.

• 49:58Speaker 02

You don't wonder, my, I have a lady that's like doing all my, my health stuff. You don't think so? The buffalo chicken, you don't think that is?

• 50:05Theo Von?

I bet there ain't a half percent of meat in there, baby. This is meatless. They should just say something warm on the outside of it. But yeah, when you get those Hunt Brothers pizzas, those little slices.

• 50:17Speaker 02

  Breakfast one?

• 50:17Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 50:19Speaker 02

That's what I grew up on.

• 50:20Theo Von?

  On Hunt Brothers?

• 50:21Speaker 02

Yeah. I think it's Hunt's Brothers. Is there an S at the end of it?

• 50:24Theo Von?

Was there more than one? There you go, girl. Hunt Brothers.

• 50:29Speaker 02

I've been saying it wrong the whole time. Hunt's Brothers.

• 50:32Theo Von?

But that's what it is. That's some kind of southern stuff.

• 50:33Speaker 02

  That's how they say it.

• 50:35Theo Von?

Have you seen the Country Hoodlums people? Have you seen those Instagram? Pull them up, dude, if you can. I put them on a page the other day.

• 50:43Speaker 02

  The what?

• 50:43Theo Von?

On my links page. This is the kind of place I grew up. I'll show you right here.

• 50:48Speaker 02

Oh, I can't wait to see this.

• 50:49Theo Von?

  This is like our street.

• 50:54Speaker 03

  What you doing, Christie?

• 50:55Speaker 04

  I'm out of her shit.

• 50:57Speaker 02

I know something, I know something volatile is gonna happen.

• 50:59Speaker 04

About me on fucking Facebook Live, I'm out here shit while he was calling me five minutes later. Thought I'd come get him.

• 51:05Speaker 03

Well, Christie, he love, he love, Glass loves those, those golf clubs.

• 51:13Speaker 03

  Glass love those golf clubs.

• 51:15Theo Von?

This the kind of shit was going on on our street.

• 51:18Speaker 03

No, no, you for real? No.

• 51:22Speaker 02

And you know what he did, probably.

• 51:23Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 51:24Speaker 03

  No.

• 51:25Speaker 02

He done fooled around and he about to find out.

• 51:28Speaker 03

  Grab it, Willie, grab.

• 51:33Theo Von?

That's the kind of shit we need more of, I think.

• 51:37Theo Von?

But yeah, this is just the kind of, have you ever seen them Country Hoodlums?

• 51:39Speaker 02

  Uh-uh.

• 51:40Theo Von?

  Oh, man.

• 51:41Speaker 02

This is like a whole thing?

• 51:42Theo Von?

They have probably like two or three hundred clips. Now, they put up clips every day and it's just them, it's just like people living their lives.

• 51:50Speaker 02

Oh, oh, like it's real life people, it's not like...

• 51:53Theo Von?

And this is the one, Earn, people always say this guy, or him and Earn seem like each other. No, go hit that top left one.

• 51:59Speaker 02

  Keep them coming.

• 52:01Speaker 03

  Ms. Janet?

• 52:04Theo Von?

  He just got baptized, actually.

• 52:06Speaker 03

  Let's do it. Hey, Jen.

• 52:10Theo Von?

And I'll say this, the women are the people, they hold it together in this group.

• 52:15Speaker 02

  Usually are.

• 52:16Theo Von?

Yeah. But that's kind of, I feel like that's kind of enough, man.

• 52:20Speaker 00

Coca-Cola. For the big. For the small. The short. And the tall. Peacemakers. Risk-takers. For the optimists. Pessimists. For long-distance love. For introverts. And extroverts. The thinkers. And the doers. For old friends. And new. Coca-Cola. For everyone. Pick up some Coca-Cola at a store near you.

• 52:51Theo Von?

You know, about four years ago, I was jogging somewhere. And it was a pretty good area, it was alright. I don't know, yeah, there was some couple halfway houses, but I was going for a jog. And I saw a snail out there. And he was trying his best, but you know. They, they don't even have feet, but they're still going forward, they're, you know. So I picked that snail up and I moved him. I moved him probably nineteen inches, brother. Saved him a month of travel.

• 53:23Theo Von?

I'd consider that a power move. Just like how hiring Morgan and Morgan is a power move. Morgan and Morgan is America's largest injury law firm. • 54:07Theo Von?

That's F-O-R-the-people.com/theo or pound law, pound 529. This is a paid advertisement. Do you, um, did y'all have like a, like a most popular restaurant in your town growing up?

• 54:23Speaker 02

  Hmm.

• 54:26Speaker 02

Not really. I mean, a lot of chains. Um, like I said, the Shoney's, my dad loves a, a, um, like a, what do you call it? A buffet.

• 54:34Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 54:35Speaker 02

Oh, any buffet, the soft serve ice cream, you gotta get it at the end.

• 54:38Theo Von?

  At the end.

• 54:39Speaker 02

How big can you make your own ice cream cone?

• 54:41Theo Von?

  Make it tall, baby.

• 54:42Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 54:42Theo Von?

Make it long. You like it long?

• 54:45Speaker 02

  Um.

• 54:46Theo Von?

Shoney's was something else, dude, and they would give away these stuffed animals up front.

• 54:51Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 54:52Theo Von?

And the sewing on them was real bad. By the time you got them bitches to the car, they was more of a, they looked, they was starting to give out a little.

• 54:59Speaker 02

  Did you go to IHOP?

• 55:01Theo Von?

  We went to IHOP, but.

• 55:03Speaker 02

  Waffle House?

• 55:04Theo Von?

We went to Waffle House. Yeah, dude, at our Waffle House, they had like, it was like, our town was like at the end of like the longest bridge in the world. For a while anyway, and then they built a death from them, but then that one got tore down. And so we were back. Anyway, they had a, um.

• 55:21Theo Von?

They had, uh, so the people that would get DUIs on there at night or DWI's at night, the police officers would just drop them off at the Waffle House. They wouldn't arrest them. They'd just take them down there and drop them off.

• 55:30Speaker 02

  That's kind.

• 55:30Theo Von?

Yeah, it was really cool. I'm just like, hey, stay here and sober up. So when you was a kid, you was running around. You could just pop in there and just hang, you'd be hanging out with the drunks and eating with all these cool drunks and shit.

• 55:40Speaker 02

I think that's a lot of Waffle Houses late at night.

• 55:42Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 55:42Speaker 02

  Ours was too.

• 55:43Theo Von?

It's kind of like a little mini rehab.

• 55:44Speaker 02

Somebody smoking a cig outside one of the cooks, you know?

• 55:46Theo Von?

  Oh, definitely.

• 55:47Speaker 02

  I'm being, baby.

• 55:48Theo Von?

Yeah, yeah. Or dude, the best is the white guy that can't even blink his eyes. So he's so geeked up and he's just fucking making eggs, boy.

• 55:56Speaker 02

  So many, so many things.

• 55:58Theo Von?

Oh, he'll just rip an omelet out of a chicken's ass. That dude's ready to-

• 56:00Speaker 02

And they're all yelling at him.

• 56:02Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 56:03Speaker 02

The best are the fights in there when they start fighting.

• 56:05Theo Von?

It's so closed environment in there. When they do the fights, I don't like being in the cage.

• 56:11Speaker 02

They do the fights. So you've seen them?

• 56:13Theo Von?

Yeah, it's like, I don't like being in the cage. I want to be outside of the cage. If they lock the door-

• 56:16Speaker 02

Oh, you sit on this side of the bar and they're on that side.

• 56:19Theo Von?

Oh, that's, yeah. Oh, you mean the employees fighting?

• 56:21Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 56:21Theo Von?

  Yeah. I don't like-

• 56:23Speaker 02

Just random ones. I like to go to Waffle House and watch fights.

• 56:26Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 56:28Theo Von?

Well dude, the one in Baton Rouge used to do a, look up Valentine's Day Waffle House Baton Rouge. They did a special thing. Did they do it at other ones you know about?

• 56:36Speaker 05

  Yeah, I, like the decorations?

• 56:40Theo Von?

Yeah, they would decorate it and you could make a reservation.

• 56:42Speaker 05

Yes, where they put like a white tablecloth.

• 56:44Theo Von?

  Yes.

• 56:46Speaker 02

  That-

• 56:47Speaker 05

  It's romantic.

• 56:47Speaker 02

  I would really like that.

• 56:49Theo Von?

Waffle House for Valentine's Day 2026, romantic and affordable. Let me read up on that a touch.

• 56:55Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 56:56Theo Von?

Because I know my sister's fiance took her to this. Uh, let's be honest, on every Valentine's Day needs candles, tuxedos, and stress. Many couples now choose Waffle House for Valentine's Day because it feels real, relaxed, and easy on the wallet. If you've been wondering whether it's actually worth trying, you're not alone. Let's walk through what experiences like and how to make it special.

• 57:26Speaker 02

  I like that.

• 57:27Theo Von?

Heart shaped hash browns? You kidding me? You know they have that?

• 57:29Speaker 02

  Uh-uh.

• 57:31Theo Von?

Steak and eggs with extra sides to share.

• 57:34Speaker 02

I think I've been to Waffle House on New Year's Day for the past like five years.

• 57:38Theo Von?

  Oh god.

• 57:38Speaker 02

  Maybe even six.

• 57:39Theo Von?

  Yeah?

• 57:40Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 57:40Theo Von?

That's beautiful. They used to have like a badge or like a recurring partner system. Chocolate pie slices and strawberry milkshakes, served as a simple date night drink.

• 57:51Speaker 02

A steak from a Waffle House.

• 57:53Theo Von?

  Hell yeah.

• 57:54Speaker 02

  Just doing it up.

• 57:55Theo Von?

Dude, I met a woman off the internet once and she was from another country. She'd never been to a Waffle House. And I took her to one and she loved it.

• 58:04Speaker 02

That's one of my red flags. If a guy's like, let's go, I'm like, let's go to Waffle House early in the morning. And he's like, no.

• 58:10Theo Von?

  He says no?

• 58:11Speaker 02

  Let's go to Cracker Barrel.

• 58:15Speaker 02

I feel like Waffle House over Cracker Barrel. I don't know. I don't know. It depends on if I want pancakes.

• 58:20Theo Von?

I don't know. I don't, a lot of these pancakes these days are too hot, they're too fluffy and fat for me. I like that bitch like it's like somebody already tried to eat it and it said, hell no. I like that thing tough. I like.

• 58:32Speaker 02

  What does that look like?

• 58:33Theo Von?

Just a pancake. I like that.

• 58:34Speaker 02

  Flat?

• 58:35Theo Von?

Yeah, flat, kinda burnt. I don't like that big fluffy. It looks like part of a piece of, like an actual part of a layer of cake.

• 58:41Speaker 02

  I think that's a flapjack.

• 58:43Theo Von?

Yeah, it could be. What is a flapjack? Bring it up because yeah, people are wandering around. People are eating hot.

• 58:49Speaker 02

What is the difference between pancake and flapjack?

• 58:51Theo Von?

People were eating all of them, Ella. I don't know. A British flapjack is a simple chewy and only baked bar made by melting butter. No. Don't even pull up with that shit. I'll burn your damn golf clubs if you pull that shit up again.

• 59:05Speaker 02

  It's not that bar thing.

• 59:07Theo Von?

No, it's not. It is a, I like that group. Now, some people came out with something. Here we go. A flapjack is a baked oat bar. This isn't it, man.

• 59:17Speaker 02

Yeah, I think it is the oat bar.

• 59:19Theo Von?

Well, then I've been getting something else. I call it a flapjack. I like that thing that's real, just kind of a little more flimsy, kind of looks like it'll fucking slap your ass if you walking by. You know what I'm talking about?

• 59:30Speaker 02

  It would make the sound.

• 59:31Theo Von?

Yeah. Finally, your brother made a sound, so he's having a good time. And I'll tell you something, I don't love a ton of syrup. I like a fair amount, but I don't like too much.

• 59:40Speaker 02

  I love it.

• 59:41Theo Von?

You do? Do you like condiments and stuff like that? Are you a condiment person?

• 59:44Speaker 02

  Sauce.

• 59:45Theo Von?

  Yeah?

• 59:45Speaker 02

  To anything. I love it.

• 59:46Theo Von?

You ever had that zit-zacky sauce? Bring it up.

• 59:49Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 59:49Theo Von?

  You've had it?

• 59:50Speaker 02

  The Zack sauce?

• 59:51Theo Von?

  No, zit-zacky. Bring it up.

• 59:53Speaker 02

  No.

• 59:54Theo Von?

  Zat-zacky.

• 59:54Speaker 02

  I've never heard of that.

• 59:55Theo Von?

  Zat-zit-zat?

• 59:58Speaker 02

  Tzatziki?

• 1:00:00Theo Von?

Don't even fucking tell me that's how y'all spell it.

• 1:00:02Speaker 02

  Bro, that's...

• 1:00:05Speaker 02

What did you just say? Zachariah sauce?

• 1:00:09Theo Von?

  I said Levithian's 413. That's what I said, dude. I said Copernicus 12 6.

• 1:00:15Speaker 02

Yeah, I've had that sauce before.

• 1:00:18Theo Von?

  Yeah, people say-

• 1:00:19Speaker 02

  Say it again.

• 1:00:20Theo Von?

  Zit, uh, zat-zit-zit-zack? Zat-ziki? I want that zat-ziki, baby.

• 1:00:26Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:00:27Theo Von?

People love that zat-ziki. Now, what I will say is this, I, I, I do like it.

• 1:00:32Speaker 02

  How do you prefer it?

• 1:00:33Theo Von?

  Zat-ziki?

• 1:00:34Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:00:34Theo Von?

Just straight up in the little, uh...

• 1:00:36Speaker 02

With the little bread thing, or?

• 1:00:39Theo Von?

Oh, I'll take it with a P to use these. I'll have it, but I'll have a li... I mean, I would never taking one and drinking one or whatever. Like, my sister used to steal all those little coffee creamers from the frickin' place my stepdad would take us and she would drink them in her bed at night, all those little...

• 1:00:52Speaker 02

  Dude, the little ones?

• 1:00:53Theo Von?

  Yeah. The hazelnut ones?

• 1:00:55Speaker 02

  That cannot be good.

• 1:00:57Theo Von?

  That sleepy little bitch-

• 1:00:58Speaker 02

That cannot be good for your gut.

• 1:00:59Theo Von?

That sleepy little bitch would fucking finish off six of those and wondering why she's having nightmares, because you're drinking damn stolen milk, okay?

• 1:01:07Speaker 02

I don't understand how those stay good out for so long. I don't ever understand. And why can condiments stay on the tables at restaurants for so long, but they can at the house?

• 1:01:17Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:18Speaker 02

I got a lot of questions.

• 1:01:19Theo Von?

But no, they used to put them, they used to put the creamers on a thing of ice. In some places that I think still have respect.

• 1:01:26Speaker 02

  They still do, yeah.

• 1:01:27Theo Von?

But some of them, those hazelnut ones, those are bad for you.

• 1:01:29Speaker 02

They'll just give it to you in a coffee mug?

• 1:01:31Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:32Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:01:33Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:34Speaker 02

It's like pile them in a coffee mug and hand it to you?

• 1:01:36Theo Von?

Oh yeah, somebody was a stack them in like that, but my sister would have six or 11 of them bitches in there. Complaining she's got an upset stomach, bitch, of course you do.

• 1:01:44Speaker 02

She's probably gonna have an upset stomach for the rest of her life due to that.

• 1:01:47Theo Von?

Yeah. And she already had a damn liver transplant, you ain't getting nothing else. Mom got her that when we were kids.

• 1:01:54Speaker 02

  And what'd you get?

• 1:01:55Theo Von?

I didn't get shit dude. I remember I got roller skates that were way too big for me.

• 1:02:01Speaker 02

What were you like? What did you do?

• 1:02:03Theo Von?

Me? I was pretty good, I guess. I don't know, I was kind of a, I like to do my own thing, I just like to hitchhike and just have angry thoughts, I think, a lot as a kid, yeah.

• 1:02:14Speaker 02

What did you do? Did you like play sports or?

• 1:02:16Theo Von?

Yeah, I played basketball, what did I like to do? I liked to be on my bike when I was a kid. My dad was super old, so we was always like messing with him and shit. My dad was like, my dad was 70 when I was born, so he was an old guy. Yeah, he was old. And my brother used to come in the room, I've told this before, my brother would come in the room and he'd be like, dad's dead. And I'd be like, what?

• 1:02:43Theo Von?

He'd be like, yup, go in there.

• 1:02:44Speaker 02

  Go in there.

• 1:02:45Theo Von?

He's dead, and I'd go in there and he wouldn't be dead.

• 1:02:48Speaker 02

Yeah, how many times did that happen?

• 1:02:50Theo Von?

Oh, well then this is, this is how we just started to flip after a while, cuz he'd be like, dad's dead. And I'd be like, he frickin' better be dead.

• 1:02:57Speaker 02

  Or you're dead.

• 1:02:58Theo Von?

Or I'mma whip your ass, yeah. So it got to the point where you like, hope like if dad's alive, somebody's getting their ass beat. So which is a crazy concept to have.

• 1:03:07Speaker 02

You have to go in there and check one more time?

• 1:03:09Theo Von?

Yeah, when your dad is barely alive, so.

• 1:03:11Speaker 02

You just get on there kind of pissed off like this?

• 1:03:13Theo Von?

There's three pictures, I mean, look at the top, look, top four actually are all me. Zoom in on all of those.

• 1:03:20Theo Von?

God, that looks good. That one's me.

• 1:03:24Speaker 02

  No, it ain't.

• 1:03:26Theo Von?

  Yup.

• 1:03:26Speaker 02

  No, it's not.

• 1:03:27Theo Von?

  Well.

• 1:03:28Speaker 02

  Is it really?

• 1:03:29Theo Von?

We had some tough years, yeah. I mean, obviously, bring that kid back up.

• 1:03:33Speaker 02

Dude, dude, that is not you.

• 1:03:35Theo Von?

We had some damn tough years.

• 1:03:36Speaker 02

What's going on with that little

• 1:03:40Speaker 02

  thing on the side?

• 1:03:42Theo Von?

Oh, honey, that's a fade, girl. That's a one into a nineteen. Haven't you ever seen that cut?

• 1:03:48Speaker 02

That's crazy. It's like a bowl cut with like a weird shaped bowl.

• 1:03:52Theo Von?

That's a Christian cut right there.

• 1:03:54Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:03:54Theo Von?

Who cut your hair growing up, Ella Langley?

• 1:03:57Speaker 02

Um, all kinds of people. I have a bad tendency to cut my own hair.

• 1:04:01Theo Von?

  Yup.

• 1:04:02Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:04:02Theo Von?

I like that best. I really was. There's something about it. What? Why do you do that? And why have you enjoyed that?

• 1:04:08Speaker 02

I don't know. Cause it doesn't always go. Most of the time it goes bad. That's how I got bangs in the first place. I stopped. I was wearing a cowboy hat for a while.

• 1:04:19Speaker 02

And then I took it off, cause it was windy one show and it was pissing me off. And I decided, you know what? I'm gonna take it off. And I liked how my bangs like were kinda around my face.

• 1:04:27Theo Von?

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:04:27Speaker 02

Um, and like twenty minutes before I walked out on stage, I decided to cut my fringe a little bit and it was so bad. There was like one piece right here. And I was shooting the cover art for my first record that next week and Kaylee was like,

• 1:04:43Speaker 02

  "I hate you."

• 1:04:44Theo Von?

At least she was honest with you.

• 1:04:45Speaker 02

So I had to get, uh, I just told her, "Full send it with the bangs."

• 1:04:49Theo Von?

  Hmm.

• 1:04:49Speaker 02

  Yup.

• 1:04:50Theo Von?

  And now you're in.

• 1:04:51Speaker 02

I don't think I can ever change it.

• 1:04:53Theo Von?

Yeah, you love it that much, huh?

• 1:04:54Speaker 02

It changed my life a little bit.

• 1:04:56Theo Von?

  Really?

• 1:04:56Speaker 02

Yeah, I would say. I mean, I don't know. The bang thing is like it's

• 1:05:02Theo Von?

  I think it's the music.

• 1:05:04Speaker 02

  Well, yeah.

• 1:05:05Theo Von?

But yeah, I mean, I think

• 1:05:06Speaker 02

Well, maybe a little bit the music, but mainly the bangs.

• 1:05:09Theo Von?

  The bangs are nice. You know what's funny is there's a, I think there's there's a, like a

• 1:05:16Theo Von?

What's it called, like a big poster board in the air or whatever?

• 1:05:19Speaker 02

I don't know what you're referencing right now, it looks crazy.

• 1:05:22Theo Von?

  Billboard. There's like a billboard

• 1:05:26Theo Von?

over on Hillsborough Pike and I thought it was you on it.

• 1:05:30Speaker 02

I think I know what board you're talking about.

• 1:05:32Theo Von?

Dude, here's a funny thing. I'd go by it sometimes and I'd always just rattle off something or sing a couple of your lyrics to it. And then somebody told me, somebody told me it's not you.

• 1:05:42Speaker 02

It's not. I, but I know what you're talking about. And what do you mean you'd sing a couple lyrics to it?

• 1:05:47Theo Von?

I would just rattle off something, you know, I was like, oh there-

• 1:05:49Speaker 02

Just to be like, what's up?

• 1:05:50Theo Von?

Yeah, there's Ella, just seeing how she's doing. Oh, she's still high and mighty up on that billboard up there with the- And I think it's for an earring company, I said, with her fancy earrings or whatever. Big earrings too. I mean, this lady had damn bird cages hanging off her head over there.

• 1:06:04Speaker 02

  Nope, wasn't me.

• 1:06:05Theo Von?

  It wasn't you, though.

• 1:06:06Speaker 02

  Wish it was.

• 1:06:07Theo Von?

God, yeah. Yeah, I'd have gotten to spend more time with you, so me too, it would have been nice, I think. Um, at, at school, sometimes we ask about Valentine's Day. Did you have a thing at school where you had Valentines at school? Was y'all's school too small to even give a Valentine? Cause other people's feelings could really get hurt in that sort of closed environment.

• 1:06:27Speaker 02

No, we still had Valentine's Day.

• 1:06:28Theo Von?

  God.

• 1:06:29Speaker 02

Yeah, we still did. It did, every feelings did get hurt. Feelings did.

• 1:06:33Theo Von?

If there's nine kids in my class and there's Valentine's Day, dude, I couldn't cut that.

• 1:06:38Speaker 02

Ah, that was, I'll never forget this kid, he was in our class, his name was, um, his name was Freddie.

• 1:06:43Theo Von?

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:06:43Speaker 02

And he brought in this little bear and he gave it to me and he's like, if you, for you to have this bear, you gotta be my girlfriend. I was like, sorry buddy, can't do it.

• 1:06:52Theo Von?

  I'm a horse girl.

• 1:06:52Speaker 02

And then he gave, yeah, but then he went over to Shelly and gave her the bear.

• 1:06:57Theo Von?

  No, he didn't.

• 1:06:57Speaker 02

And I was like, hey Freddie, come back over here. I will be your girlfriend.

• 1:07:02Theo Von?

  Oh damn.

• 1:07:03Speaker 02

  Give me that bear back.

• 1:07:04Theo Von?

So you saw that competition and Ella said, I ain't losing out.

• 1:07:07Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:07:08Theo Von?

And Freddie was willing to get a woman an animal. Dude, I remember, we had a guy by us, he was a taxidermist or whatever, and I just remember, I remember he had all these hard stuffed animals, I didn't know.

• 1:07:17Speaker 02

  Hard ones, yeah.

• 1:07:18Theo Von?

Yeah, I was like, that dude has the hardest stuffed animals ever. He gave me like a squirrel, cause my mother said I'd love it over there all the time. She'd find me over there. And he gave me like a squirrel and I slept with that thing. My mom said for like four years, this big taxidermied ass squirrel.

• 1:07:32Speaker 02

  No, you didn't.

• 1:07:33Theo Von?

  With a hard tail, yeah.

• 1:07:34Speaker 02

What do you mean a hard tail?

• 1:07:36Theo Von?

He had it. Bring up a, look at that bitch. Yeah. Look at the one, yeah, that's a stripper.

• 1:07:40Speaker 02

I've never seen one done like that before.

• 1:07:42Theo Von?

Look at the one that's a stripper right there.

• 1:07:44Speaker 02

That's the one that you had for sure.

• 1:07:46Theo Von?

I think, I mean, I don't know. I was young, but I was happy to have it.

• 1:07:50Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:07:51Theo Von?

Look at the one canoeing in its own tail. That's pretty great, actually.

• 1:07:55Speaker 06

  Did it have a name?

• 1:07:56Theo Von?

  Huh?

• 1:07:57Speaker 06

  Did you name this squirrel?

• 1:07:58Theo Von?

  Yeah, Mr. Tucker.

• 1:08:01Theo Von?

So he could have been trans. I have no idea. Who knows?

• 1:08:06Theo Von?

Okay, a couple of questions about your album and then your new, what'd you say?

• 1:08:09Speaker 06

Say real quick, Ella, could you pull your mic to the right just a little bit?

• 1:08:12Theo Von?

Will you come help her, Trevin? She doesn't need any help, sorry.

• 1:08:15Speaker 06

  That's perfect.

• 1:08:16Theo Von?

  This is Ella.

• 1:08:18Speaker 02

  Why'd you say that?

• 1:08:19Theo Von?

Just cause I'm thinking if there's one lady that doesn't need any help, it's probably you, I think.

• 1:08:23Speaker 02

  Sometimes I need help.

• 1:08:24Theo Von?

  You do?

• 1:08:25Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:08:25Theo Von?

Yeah. I know, sometimes I do too. I think that's one tough thing about like when you like, kind of like, when things start like, I think if you're like a person that's kind of controlling or you know, you like to have a say in everything you do, do you feel like you're that kind of person? Like you were, that's one thing that I love about Morgan is, Morgan knows exactly what he's doing. He is dialed in to a T, I feel like, on what is him and what represents him.

• 1:08:52Speaker 02

Yeah, I'm very much that way. I mean, every bit of what I do. I have my hand in it, you know, I'm co-producing the record, I'm writing stuff for the music video, co-directing that, I'm, you know, making the set list for the show and kind of creating that set. I literally drew out our set in my journal and was like, gave it to the set designer and was like, this is what I want. And they literally made that for me.

• 1:09:16Theo Von?

So it's all, so when people come to see this next door, it's all you?

• 1:09:19Speaker 02

No, I mean, I have an incredible team.

• 1:09:21Theo Von?

Right, but it's all comes from you originally?

• 1:09:24Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah. And it's interesting, it's, Hard to find people that, sometimes people get stingy with your art in a way. And it's funny, it's like, um, like a pride thing. And I care so much about the people that I work with, it being a collaborative experience, you know? And so everyone on my team, it really is that with, whether it be my stylist, or my makeup artist, or Kaylee over here, who's my photographer and also creative director, my management, you know? My band, it's kind of, like, I don't tell my band to get up there and play this dang thing lick for lick. I want us to get up there and have, you know, fun and play music. And obviously, there's a way a show should go, but, I don't know, I just think that sometimes people put these weird perimeters around such a creative thing.

• 1:10:09Speaker 02

And something that, like, I think You Look Like You Love Me did for me was, like, everyone told me that song was not gonna work, you know? They were all like, what, what do you, my label tried to give me to sing-

• 1:10:23Theo Von?

After y'all had cut it, or before?

• 1:10:24Speaker 02

Yes, after we had cut it, they were like, we really think you need to go back in and sing these verses. I was like, I'm not singing it. And they're like, you need to sing it. And I just fought them really hard on it.

• 1:10:35Theo Von?

And they thought, you need to go back in and sing Riley's verses? Is Riley the one sings on that?

• 1:10:39Speaker 02

Yeah, but no, like, the, yeah, the talking part. You know, I was all but 22, I think, at the time.

• 1:10:45Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:10:46Speaker 02

Yeah, no, they wanted me to sing that, go back in, they're like, this is like, gonna be the worst performing song on the record.

• 1:10:51Theo Von?

  No.

• 1:10:51Speaker 02

Yeah. And I, so I think with that one, I mean, it was just different.

• 1:10:56Theo Von?

  And you knew it wasn't?

• 1:10:57Speaker 02

I mean, I didn't know what it was gonna do, but I believed that, like-

• 1:11:00Theo Von?

You believed in what it was, though?

• 1:11:01Speaker 02

I believed that it was different. I believed that it was something that made me smile and I enjoyed singing it. And, you know, like I said, once I put my mind to something, like, if I go in and cut something, it's because I believe in it. And-

• 1:11:15Theo Von?

It feels like you get to know you some in that song a little bit, too. I mean, it's just, there's something about when somebody's talking to you, you know, when they're talking as well. I think there's, yeah.

• 1:11:24Speaker 02

Tells a story in a different way.

• 1:11:25Theo Von?

Yeah. Yeah, I think so. Dang. Who's out there telling L. Langley no?

• 1:11:33Speaker 02

  I don't know.

• 1:11:35Theo Von?

But have there been parts you've like, like, like as things got busier, you're like, learning how to be like, kind of like a boss, a leader? Not necessarily a boss, but like a leader?

• 1:11:44Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:11:45Theo Von?

And then those are roles that you have to step into, I think, if you want to be like-

• 1:11:51Theo Von?

Exactly how you want to be. You know, cause otherwise, there's like, especially in music and um, and Hollywood type of stuff, there's, it'll, it'll make something for you and serve it out there, you know? But if you wanna be on top of it, it takes a lot.

• 1:12:05Speaker 02

It does. I think that's one of the harder parts of this job and kinda what I've watched from watching other artists my whole life, obviously wanting to do this, paid attention in a way like, you really do have to get up and fight to do it the way you wanna do it every day.

• 1:12:20Theo Von?

  Isn't that crazy?

• 1:12:21Speaker 02

You, you do. It's exhausting and people all day, and the more, the more success, the more uh, people care about what you're doing. You know what I mean? In the beginning, in a label, you know, when I was first signed, I, it wasn't a competitive deal, you know? They, I didn't really have that much going on, um, and it was more of like a banking on me type of a situation.

• 1:12:39Theo Von?

  Right.

• 1:12:39Speaker 02

So now, you know, everyone is a little, paying a little closer attention to what's happening, obviously, you know? And everyone has um, an opinion and it's like that across the board and that's just because it's working and everyone wants it to stay working and um, you know, you know yourself the best and your artistry and like, uh, at the end of the day, I'm the one that's gonna have to do that interview. I'm the one that's gonna have to um, sing that song every night. I'm the one that's gonna have to go take those pictures. I'm the one that's gonna have to work with these people. You know, and I think it's just constantly reminding them of that and not compromising who you are as a human being because, well, this is how it's usually done. I hate that phrase. I hate,

• 1:13:19Speaker 02

well, this is what you would usually do. I was like, well, I don't give a rat's ass what you'd usually do. I do not wanna do it like that. I really don't and I'm gonna stick my heels in the mud.

• 1:13:29Theo Von?

Yeah, I don't even have any heels and I'm just gonna put my feet in there.

• 1:13:31Speaker 02

You do have heels. That's the bottom of your foot.

• 1:13:34Theo Von?

This is, oh yeah, you're right. And I'm gonna put them in the mud.

• 1:13:37Speaker 02

  Step them things in there.

• 1:13:38Theo Von?

Always, I don't wanna do it how you wanna, that's, dude, that's been the pilot light of my entire existence.

• 1:13:45Speaker 02

Do it like this, that's the worst thing you could tell me if you don't want me to do it.

• 1:13:49Theo Von?

Dude, I don't wanna do any, I never want, dude, I couldn't even, my eyes wasn't even open and I was like, I ain't doing shit like you want me to.

• 1:13:57Speaker 02

Yeah, keep your eyes straight, fuck you.

• 1:14:02Speaker 02

  How about that?

• 1:14:03Theo Von?

Bitch, I'm coming with a remix right out the gate.

• 1:14:06Speaker 02

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:14:10Theo Von?

That's hilarious. Oh, congratulations, you guys, as your tour with Morgan starts April 18th in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Bryant-Denny Stadium.

• 1:14:21Speaker 02

  I know, home state.

• 1:14:23Theo Von?

  That's so crazy.

• 1:14:24Speaker 02

It's cool. I think it's the first concert to be in there since like, what, 19 something?

• 1:14:30Theo Von?

  Bring it up.

• 1:14:30Speaker 02

1970 something. I think Alabama was the last thing. Oh, hey.

• 1:14:34Theo Von?

Bring it up. Oh, my God.

• 1:14:36Speaker 02

  Kaylee took that over there.

• 1:14:38Theo Von?

Did she? God, take some of me, Kaylee. I need to live like that. I need to get a damn brooch.

• 1:14:45Speaker 02

  A brooch?

• 1:14:46Theo Von?

Or, I don't know, I'm sorry, a nice, I mean, a nice necktie. I'm just joking. I'm trying to make your brother laugh. The only joy I'm having is when you guys laugh.

• 1:14:56Speaker 02

That's the, that's the gig, huh?

• 1:14:58Theo Von?

Well, yeah, it's just nice. When people laugh, I feel okay.

• 1:15:01Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:15:02Theo Von?

Alabama Stadium show right there at Bryant-Denny. When was the last one? That's what we're asking.

• 1:15:08Speaker 02

  Honestly?

• 1:15:10Theo Von?

This guy's just looking at pictures of men online. That's the dang football team. We just want to know what was the last.

• 1:15:18Theo Von?

Just ask somebody. Fucking ask, uh, who's that Roll Tide guy? Oh, ask Roll Tide Willie, yeah.

• 1:15:25Speaker 02

  He's actually from here.

• 1:15:27Theo Von?

Dude, he's, he was in the military with my buddy's dad. He used to be pretty, not normal, but better.

• 1:15:33Speaker 02

  I don't know. That's where he's from. What?

• 1:15:35Theo Von?

Yeah. God bless him. The last concert held at Bryant-Denny Stadium was a performance by the band Alabama in 1992, which followed a series of Bama Blast concerts in the early 1980s. The 2008 concert with Alan Jackson was scheduled but canceled. Damn. So that's been 30, 33 years.

• 1:15:58Speaker 02

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about that one.

• 1:16:00Theo Von?

  That's crazy.

• 1:16:01Speaker 02

And we're direct support this year. We've really worked our way up on this tour. First tour, we were first of four. We did with him. Last year, we were second of four.

• 1:16:12Speaker 02

  This year, we're direct.

• 1:16:13Theo Von?

  Congratulations.

• 1:16:14Speaker 02

Just climb your way, you know what I mean?

• 1:16:16Theo Von?

He says, I mean, I've spoken with him about you and Ern, just, and he's like, she's got, she has it. She has got it.

• 1:16:23Speaker 02

  He's been really cool.

• 1:16:24Theo Von?

  He's a unique dude, man.

• 1:16:25Speaker 02

Well, you know, I mean, him and Ern and Hardy and that whole crew has just been super kind to me.

• 1:16:31Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:32Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:16:32Theo Von?

Oh, that whole group's so much fun. I remember right whenever I moved in town, we had a podcast studio. I was living in Wedgewood, Houston. I just was renting a house and putting a podcast studio. And the guy was always stopping by. He's like, you have this podcast studio in here? I was like, no. And just like, for some reason, this guy hated podcasts and whatever. And, um, and one day we got to have Morgan and came and then we had like, kind of just snuck out Hardy and Ern. And we had a blast over there. But that was fun. That was like our early episode that we had here in town.

• 1:17:01Speaker 02

Yeah, those shows are gonna be cool.

• 1:17:02Theo Von?

It's gonna be so great. Um, and, uh, oh, there was something else I was gonna ask you about. Oh, and then you're doing Stagecoach too.

• 1:17:08Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:17:09Theo Von?

Yeah, me and my buddy are DJing there.

• 1:17:11Speaker 02

  Really?

• 1:17:12Theo Von?

  Yeah, dude.

• 1:17:12Speaker 02

  Have you DJed before?

• 1:17:13Theo Von?

  No.

• 1:17:16Theo Von?

But it looks so dang easy.

• 1:17:18Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:17:19Theo Von?

I'm just joking, Diplo, but it looks, it looks pretty damn easy. So, yeah, that's it.

• 1:17:25Speaker 02

Yeah, I don't know. I've never tried that.

• 1:17:27Theo Von?

But, um, yeah, me and my friend Caleb Presley are gonna, uh, play at Diplo's Honky Tonk, so.

• 1:17:32Speaker 02

  Stuart met him.

• 1:17:34Theo Von?

  You did?

• 1:17:34Speaker 07

I did. And then Glenn Ball.

• 1:17:36Theo Von?

  Oh, they're great, aren't they?

• 1:17:37Speaker 07

Yeah, I love them. Glenn Ball's a character, man.

• 1:17:40Theo Von?

  He is.

• 1:17:41Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:17:41Theo Von?

He loves a nice cheese too. If you, if you know of a restaurant in the area, he'll tell you about cheeses in any area.

• 1:17:48Theo Von?

He almost has like a, like a.

• 1:17:49Speaker 02

He said, yeah, you will. You know that? Like, he already knew that?

• 1:17:55Theo Von?

  Yeah, bro.

• 1:17:56Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah. He loves them cheeses.

• 1:17:58Theo Von?

You know, I met him over at Havarti, listening to Hardy. And, uh, sorry, I'm just dropping a horrible cheese country music lyrics here.

• 1:18:09Speaker 02

  That sounds great.

• 1:18:10Theo Von?

I thought it wasn't too bad.

• 1:18:12Speaker 02

  That's how easy it is.

• 1:18:13Theo Von?

But no, that's, so that's gonna be cool. I'm excited. I'm excited to get to see it play out there. Um, let's talk about, and, uh, and thanks so much for spending time with us today.

• 1:18:23Speaker 02

  Thanks for having me.

• 1:18:24Theo Von?

Appreciate it. I appreciate it. We're happy to have you. We had this girl in yesterday. Have you ever seen that girl?

• 1:18:31Theo Von?

She's like on TikTok, she has like, she has um, stenosis, she has a, like a syndrome.

• 1:18:37Speaker 06

  Systenosis.

• 1:18:38Theo Von?

Systenosis, she keeps changing the name of it. But uh, yeah, this is her, have you seen her? She talks about the spice, a little bit of spice.

• 1:18:46Speaker 07

A little hint of spiciness, like a little hint of soy sauce, a little hint of the tomato, you know, a little hint of the spice.

• 1:18:54Theo Von?

  Tomato in ramen?

• 1:18:55Speaker 07

Yeah, uh, she has like a hint, little hint of tomato.

• 1:18:58Theo Von?

  Oh yeah?

• 1:18:58Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:18:59Theo Von?

  What is a hint?

• 1:19:01Speaker 07

I don't even know, it just sounds like a little word.

• 1:19:04Speaker 02

  That's me all the time.

• 1:19:05Theo Von?

  Is it?

• 1:19:06Speaker 02

What even, what is even there, I don't know, it just sounds like a real word.

• 1:19:08Theo Von?

Say it first and figure it out later.

• 1:19:10Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:19:10Theo Von?

Um, you have your new album, Dandelion.

• 1:19:13Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:19:14Theo Von?

Or dandelion. That's how people, some people were saying it.

• 1:19:19Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:19:19Theo Von?

  Um, congratulations.

• 1:19:21Speaker 02

  Thank you.

• 1:19:21Theo Von?

Um, did you feel like you had to hurry up and get this out? Or, because I think sometimes coming off of like, you know, like you said earlier, like your career starts getting bigger and things start to feel like you don't want to lose the momentum, right? You've worked so hard to build a flame. Did it feel like any pressures? Like what were some pressures that were involved with this? Or was it just completely smooth? And is that a ridiculous question?

• 1:19:43Speaker 02

Nothing is ever completely smooth, I don't think, for real. Some, I don't know, well, I don't know, maybe some things.

• 1:19:50Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:19:51Speaker 02

  Some things.

• 1:19:52Theo Von?

  Some things, maybe, yeah.

• 1:19:54Speaker 02

But this um, this, this record, um, I mean, I worked on it for like a year and a half. Um, so it still took a while. But I say, I keep saying the big word for this record is synchronicity. It did just feel like a lot of things, while it was, you know, I'm co-producing for the first time, while I'm full-time touring two different tours, while, you know, just trying to balance everything at the same time, getting the vocals done, you know, and, um...

• 1:20:22Speaker 02

It taught me a lot and that's what was so cool about having Miranda to be a part of it, you know? Um, because she's just so honest, you know, you've met her and hung out with her. She's just so real.

• 1:20:31Theo Von?

Yeah, she's great. She likes barrel racing too.

• 1:20:33Speaker 02

Yeah, she does. Um, but she just, you know, she was just honest about, you know, days where I was like, she's like, you're burnt and take a step back. Yeah, but also like, you know, some things I wanted to go in there. I'm like, can I say that? She's like, hell yeah, you can say that. You can say whatever the hell you want to, you know? Um, so like that confidence of someone that has done it and like you look up their career so much, like, you know what? Hell, you know what? Yes.

• 1:20:59Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:20:59Speaker 02

Actually, I do want the symbols to be louder out there. I do. And, um, no, it was, it was really cool. This whole, this whole record. I'm so excited about it. I've never been more excited about music in my life.

• 1:21:11Theo Von?

  Really?

• 1:21:12Speaker 02

Hmm. I think I've clicked in my artistry.

• 1:21:15Theo Von?

  Let's go, Ella.

• 1:21:16Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah. I think I really have.

• 1:21:18Theo Von?

That's a pretty badass thing to say.

• 1:21:20Speaker 02

  Yeah. I think.

• 1:21:21Theo Von?

Especially if you're somebody you mentioned earlier that you're such a like a judge of yourself, you know?

• 1:21:26Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:21:26Theo Von?

That you get offstage and you're like, ah, that, you know, yeah, that was fine, but that, but there's, it wasn't as exact as I could possibly have been.

• 1:21:34Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:21:34Theo Von?

  You know?

• 1:21:35Speaker 02

Yeah, I just, man, this is as exact as I want it to be. I just.

• 1:21:39Theo Von?

  Hell, yeah.

• 1:21:40Speaker 02

We had such a vision for it. Like I had a hundred and something song reference playlist of what I wanted sonically for this record and.

• 1:21:47Theo Von?

Now, what do you mean? What does that mean?

• 1:21:48Speaker 02

I literally just went on Spotify and made a playlist of like all of these songs of the era I was listening for like guitar tones and drum sounds and BGV, background vocal parts and, um, you know.

• 1:22:01Theo Von?

So you start with that idea before anything?

Well, actually it started with the title, Dandelion. Um, we had written that song. Um, it's the oldest song on the record. It was almost, um, gonna be put on the last record, but I pulled it at the last minute because I just kind of felt like sonically it's where I wanted to go. And I knew it was like the context was like, feels like I'm growing and I'm not just so hungover and doing debauchery every day of my life, you know?

• 1:22:25Theo Von?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:22:26Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah. Maybe just on Tuesdays, you know? Um, but, um, yeah, so I found out that, um, Dandelion Tea is a detox for your liver.

• 1:22:37Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:22:37Speaker 02

And when I heard that, it was like a light bulb went off over my head. It's like, oh my God, a record called Dandelion coming after a record called Hungover. It's like you're just growing up, you're, you know, dandelions are resilient. They're kind of considered a weed, but I mean, what are kids going and picking out for their moms and bringing them? You know, it's a bunch of dandelions and they're actually spread on the wind, which is cool if it weren't for the wind.

• 1:23:01Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:23:02Speaker 02

So that's a little random little nugget in there, but I mean, so much of that stuff is in this record and.

• 1:23:07Theo Von?

  God, I love it.

• 1:23:08Speaker 02

  Yeah, I mean.

• 1:23:09Theo Von?

Sometimes I play it when I'm in my room or whatever.

• 1:23:13Speaker 02

You feel that? You feel like a dandelion?

• 1:23:14Theo Von?

I will play it. I'm not saying all that, but I will say I will play it sometimes.

• 1:23:18Speaker 02

You never have felt like a dandelion?

• 1:23:20Theo Von?

I don't think so. I don't know. I mean, I could have to read through my diary, but I don't think so. Probably not, but that's okay.

• 1:23:28Speaker 02

  That's okay.

• 1:23:28Theo Von?

But I just, yeah, I mean, I love.

• 1:23:29Speaker 02

  You're more of a rose.

• 1:23:31Theo Von?

Okay. I'm more of a damn, what's the plant that grows on your house even if you don't want it to? Yeah, I'm more of a kudzu.

• 1:23:39Speaker 02

You are more of a kudzu.

• 1:23:41Theo Von?

I'm more of a damn kudzu, because they can't get rid of me. They're like, this bastard. I thought we put him out years ago and it's like, bitch, I'm still.

• 1:23:49Speaker 02

You were growing under the porch the whole time?

• 1:23:51Theo Von?

I'll come out and I'll tap on your window. I'm only playing.

• 1:23:54Speaker 02

  Late at night.

• 1:23:55Theo Von?

Yeah, I'm like a damn fungus. Thank you.

• 1:23:58Speaker 02

  Sorry.

• 1:23:58Theo Von?

Thank you, sir. I like to, I like to vine, but we'll go fungus. We'll go fungus. No, um, but no, I love listening to your music. It's great. I mean, I'll be standing. I'll be standing and who am I to judge? It's great, dude. One time I said to Morgan, I was like, man, that song is good. And he looked at me and he goes, that song is great. And I was like, he's right. And he was right.

• 1:24:23Speaker 02

You just kind of sat there in silence for a minute.

• 1:24:24Theo Von?

I was just trying to, I think, be cool a little bit, you know? And he's like, no, and he was right.

• 1:24:29Speaker 02

You got kind of sweaty right when you said that?

• 1:24:30Theo Von?

Yeah, I think we were actually working out somewhere. So it was like, you know.

• 1:24:33Speaker 02

  Extra.

• 1:24:34Theo Von?

Yeah, I was just like, I don't know what was going on.

• 1:24:36Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:24:36Theo Von?

But I remember him saying, that song's great. I was like, I respect his confidence about it. Um, but no, I love listening to your music. It's great, but fuck, quit saying that, dude.

• 1:24:45Speaker 02

  I'm great.

• 1:24:46Theo Von?

Fucking weirdo. I like listening to your music.

• 1:24:51Speaker 02

  There's that smile again.

• 1:24:52Theo Von?

But here's what happens is I'll be talking to dudes and I'll be walking up and singing or I'm at the dang market and some guys by walking by singing it.

• 1:25:02Speaker 02

  Singing it?

• 1:25:03Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:25:04Speaker 02

  Dandelion?

• 1:25:05Theo Von?

  All of it.

• 1:25:06Speaker 02

  Be her?

• 1:25:07Theo Von?

Yeah, just, yeah. Oh dude, yeah, my friend Alan the other day, he said, I can't get this out of my head. And I was like, well dang, go look at some porno or something. You know, or go get a dang, one of them nudie mags or something bucko. You know?

• 1:25:23Speaker 02

  That usually, yeah.

• 1:25:24Theo Von?

But anyway, I was just saying, cause that was, that song is more of like a women focused song.

• 1:25:28Speaker 02

I wrote it with three guys.

• 1:25:30Theo Von?

  Did you?

• 1:25:30Speaker 02

  Yeah, Hardy's one.

• 1:25:32Theo Von?

  Did he?

• 1:25:32Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:25:33Theo Von?

  He does have long hair?

• 1:25:34Speaker 02

  He does.

• 1:25:36Theo Von?

And he has nice hair too.

• 1:25:39Theo Von?

Well, tell me, like, so when it comes down to making the final songs, like, or did you?

• 1:25:44Speaker 02

You wanna play one? You wanna pick one out to play?

• 1:25:47Theo Von?

  Yeah, play a song? Really?

• 1:25:49Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:25:49Theo Von?

  Yeah, of course.

• 1:25:51Speaker 02

I'll give you all the titles.

• 1:25:52Theo Von?

  Alright.

• 1:25:53Speaker 02

And then you can just pick.

• 1:25:55Theo Von?

  Let me see about one.

• 1:25:56Speaker 02

Just pick one that's not out yet.

• 1:25:58Theo Von?

  Alright.

• 1:25:59Speaker 02

If you, well, how would you know? How would you know?

• 1:26:02Theo Von?

  I think I will know.

• 1:26:03Speaker 02

Okay, um, where was that sent to me at? Thank you.

• 1:26:09Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:26:11Theo Von?

  Alright, let me see that.

• 1:26:15Theo Von?

Just put my number in here. Sorry, I'm just watching this, sorry. Just got taken over by the devil. The dang devil is.

• 1:26:21Speaker 02

He's swiping around and then it's like you hand it to your dad and he just keeps swiping, you know, and you're like.

• 1:26:26Theo Von?

Bro, if some, if you give somebody a photo and they swipe one picture, is there anything scarier?

• 1:26:33Theo Von?

You have no idea what that could be.

• 1:26:35Speaker 02

You just swallow, it's just so hard immediately.

• 1:26:38Theo Von?

It could be casserole, it could be a damn, somebody getting a tummy tuck.

• 1:26:42Speaker 02

Was this something you meant to take to show your doctor later?

• 1:26:46Theo Von?

Oh, you're like, that's for my doctor. You're like, you were, you were gonna show that young lady to your doc? I like, I don't know.

• 1:26:53Speaker 02

  Me and my doctor.

• 1:26:54Theo Von?

I need to go to a meeting.

• 1:26:57Theo Von?

What about Last Call For Us?

• 1:26:59Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:27:01Speaker 02

  You could play that one.

• 1:27:02Theo Von?

  Is it a fun one?

• 1:27:06Speaker 02

It's not as much fun, but...

• 1:27:07Theo Von?

  It isn't?

• 1:27:08Speaker 02

If you want fun, not that one.

• 1:27:11Theo Von?

  Oh, that's true, huh?

• 1:27:13Speaker 02

But it's, I mean, I like this song.

• 1:27:16Theo Von?

  Oh my God.

• 1:27:21Theo Von?

I'll just listen and enjoy it.

• 1:27:24Speaker 02

  Thank you.

• 1:27:50Theo Von?

  Here we go.

• 1:28:16Theo Von?

  Here we go, boy.

• 1:28:20Theo Von?

Get a picture of Chuck tapping in, yeah.

• 1:28:22Speaker 02

  He's my ultimate hype man.

• 1:28:24Theo Von?

I can edit that in, right there.

• 1:28:37Theo Von?

You can fade it out some.

• 1:28:39Speaker 02

I think we could play one more.

• 1:28:40Theo Von?

  We can?

• 1:28:41Speaker 02

And then, we can just pick which one.

• 1:28:43Theo Von?

  Let's do that.

• 1:28:44Speaker 02

  Play a fun one.

• 1:28:45Theo Von?

That's good, because that might be sad, because what if somebody just put their animal down or something?

• 1:28:49Speaker 02

Then that's the song they want to cry to.

• 1:28:50Theo Von?

  Actually, that's a good point.

• 1:28:51Speaker 02

That's why we put it out there.

• 1:28:52Theo Von?

Yeah, and thank you for that.

• 1:28:54Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:28:54Theo Von?

And I'll say this, I went and saw Dermot Kennedy one time, have you ever heard of him?

• 1:28:58Speaker 02

  Uh-uh.

• 1:29:00Theo Von?

Dude, and I didn't know people cried together in a big group at the Ryman, right? And so, there was a woman crying on my back because she'd lost a pet.

• 1:29:09Speaker 02

  You just let her?

• 1:29:10Theo Von?

I couldn't do, what am I gonna do?

• 1:29:12Speaker 02

  Just let, just let her.

• 1:29:14Theo Von?

She said just push my legs back if they get up against you, and I was like...

• 1:29:18Theo Von?

Alright. But, uh. It was special.

• 1:29:23Speaker 02

  That's a crazy rhyming show.

• 1:29:24Theo Von?

  It was.

• 1:29:25Speaker 02

  Alright.

• 1:29:26Theo Von?

And I saw you at the rhyme, remember you asked me to sing that part and I got scared.

• 1:29:29Speaker 02

Why did you get so scared?

• 1:29:31Theo Von?

Cause I couldn't remember it all.

• 1:29:32Speaker 02

There were words, there's a teleprompter out there with the words on it.

• 1:29:36Theo Von?

I didn't know that. Nobody told me that.

• 1:29:38Speaker 02

  I did, yes I did.

• 1:29:40Theo Von?

I would have known, a teleprompter, I know about that, I know about words moving at slow speed in front of me.

• 1:29:46Speaker 02

Yeah, there was one. With the words on it and everything.

• 1:29:49Theo Von?

I didn't know any of that.

• 1:29:50Speaker 02

Yeah, they were like, everyone was like, he was upset. And I was like, well. Why?

• 1:29:56Theo Von?

I think I was upset. I think I was bummed, cause I wanted to, I like, cause I like this, I like the music and so I wanted to be helpful. And everybody else was helping out. And then I think I just got too nervous, I didn't wanna mess it up.

• 1:30:10Speaker 02

You would not, you could have come out there and said anything and it would have been good.

• 1:30:14Theo Von?

  I don't know.

• 1:30:14Speaker 02

That's the fun part about that song, I mess up the words all the time.

• 1:30:17Theo Von?

  Yeah?

• 1:30:18Speaker 02

  All the time.

• 1:30:19Theo Von?

You do seem pretty much like you just kinda, you're willing to just roll with it, no matter what.

• 1:30:22Speaker 02

Hey, this is a special show for y'all, I've never done it like this before. I can't help it, I'm human. I think, you know, in a world of, you don't know what's real or not, like. I just think going up there and not being afraid to be humble a little bit in that way, I don't wanna mess up the words. Like, when I did What I Want with Morgan, I messed up words almost every single time, I've never been so nervous to go out and do something.

• 1:30:43Theo Von?

  Really?

• 1:30:44Speaker 02

I just felt like I could throw up before I walked out there every time, I was like, I just cannot, I could not remember those words. Like, here's me, like, there ain't no hard feelings if you only wanna act like lovers do for days.

• 1:30:54Theo Von?

  Like lovers do.

• 1:30:55Speaker 02

  And I couldn't stop, I literally just.

• 1:30:57Theo Von?

  You really?

• 1:30:58Speaker 02

I just couldn't, I, I don't know, and I, I would have it, but then, alright, POV. You go through this tunnel, you know what I mean? And you're playing in the stadium, it's the most people you've ever been in front of, you're walking out with Morgan Wallen, the, everything gets dark and there's smoke everywhere and you gotta walk out and I'm in pointy heels and there's grates out there, so you gotta make sure you're not falling down in those, you get up and then here you go, you get one shot at it, there's no practice too, you know, you get like one rehearsal, you go out there and it's like, okay, but doing it in front of eighty thousand people is different than at two, than 2pm in the middle of the day. But what was awesome is the last time we did it is he came out and messed up the words and I

• 1:31:40Speaker 02

When he did that, I just started to laugh so hard because he was giving me so much shit about messing up the words.

• 1:31:45Theo Von?

  Hell, yeah.

• 1:31:46Speaker 02

You can't come out here and mess this up again. I was like, I might. I really am scared that I might. And, uh, so the last night he did, and it was like, he just immediately could never say another thing to me about messing up the words, you know?

• 1:31:59Theo Von?

  I love that.

• 1:32:00Speaker 02

So that was nice of him, if he did that on purpose. He's like, that's what he says now. He's like, that's why I did it to make you feel better about all the time. Like, yeah.

• 1:32:07Theo Von?

And he might have, who knows?

• 1:32:09Speaker 02

Nah, because when he looked back at me, it was pure, like, frustration that he, like, he couldn't no longer talk shit about me messing up the words.

• 1:32:16Theo Von?

  That it was even?

• 1:32:17Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:32:17Theo Von?

  That's hilarious.

• 1:32:18Speaker 02

  I was, yes.

• 1:32:19Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:32:20Speaker 02

  Thank you.

• 1:32:21Theo Von?

Y'all do a great job on that one. Yeah, let's play one more then. Let's play something else that, well, let me think about one more. Let me try and pick one more.

• 1:32:28Speaker 02

Okay, can I just say yes or no if I think it's a good one?

• 1:32:31Theo Von?

Yeah, well, we'll take that part out.

• 1:32:32Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 1:32:35Speaker 02

  Why?

• 1:32:36Theo Von?

Because if people, if you say no, it's not a good one, that might-

• 1:32:38Speaker 02

They are, but maybe not for this setting.

• 1:32:40Theo Von?

Yes, for this setting, that's what I'm thinking about.

• 1:32:45Theo Von?

  Bottom of your boots.

• 1:32:46Speaker 02

  Yes.

• 1:32:47Theo Von?

Bang, bro, that was my frickin' one that I wanted.

• 1:32:50Speaker 02

That, my dad gave me that title, actually. Yeah. I was like, having a freak out one night. It's actually kind of a sweet story, but he, I was like-

• 1:32:57Theo Von?

Let me tell, tell me about it, Dan.

• 1:32:59Speaker 02

Well, I mean, he was just giving me one of his, like, "Baby, you know, you're fine." He's like, "You know, I love you from the bottom of my boots to the top of my hat."

• 1:33:06Theo Von?

  Oh.

• 1:33:07Speaker 02

  That's a great title. Anyways.

• 1:33:09Theo Von?

That's as much of a dad as there is.

• 1:33:11Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:33:12Theo Von?

  You know?

• 1:33:13Speaker 02

  Pep talks.

• 1:33:14Theo Von?

  That's bottom to top.

• 1:33:16Speaker 02

  Yep. Bottom of your boots.

• 1:33:19Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:33:21Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:33:27Theo Von?

  Heck, yeah.

• 1:34:03Speaker 02

  Yeah, the goddamn shoulders.

• 1:34:13Theo Von?

  Yeah. Oh, man.

• 1:34:42Speaker 02

Getting closer to a love song.

• 1:34:50Theo Von?

  Let's go.

• 1:35:00Theo Von?

Moon and back. From the bottom of your boobs to the top of your head. Love me, I love that. Hello Langley. That's good.

• 1:35:14Speaker 02

That's good, that's good in there.

• 1:35:15Theo Von?

  That's good.

• 1:35:17Speaker 02

  Enough slices.

• 1:35:18Theo Von?

Dude, your brother is a great dancer. That's a beautiful song.

• 1:35:21Speaker 02

Dude, but he is dancing though. I don't know.

• 1:35:24Theo Von?

  Pretty good, buddy. Heck yeah.

• 1:35:27Speaker 02

I told you, he's my hype man.

• 1:35:28Theo Von?

Yeah, no, I would get him out there and have him do it. Do you ever do that?

• 1:35:33Speaker 02

No, but maybe we should. He's been streaming.

• 1:35:36Theo Von?

  Has he?

• 1:35:37Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:35:38Theo Von?

  He's a streamer?

• 1:35:38Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 1:35:39Theo Von?

  Nah.

• 1:35:40Speaker 02

I have been streaming Mustache Stew.

• 1:35:42Theo Von?

Mustache Stew? Okay. Ah, yeah, I like that, man. There's not a lot of southern streamers, really, I don't feel like.

• 1:35:50Speaker 02

I know, I feel like, um, I don't know, I'm getting a lot of exposure, dude, it's been awesome. Mustache Stew, you know, I got the brand, I got the stew, so.

• 1:35:58Theo Von?

Type, I like it, dude. And is that a real hat from your sister's album?

• 1:36:02Speaker 02

  It is.

• 1:36:02Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. I gotta get that.

• 1:36:04Speaker 02

  We bought you some.

• 1:36:05Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:36:05Speaker 02

  Unreleased.

• 1:36:06Theo Von?

Are they? Did you really bring one? Let's go! I can't even wait to frickin' put it on whenever I get home. Um, that's a great song. Thanks for letting us play it. And I think, um, and what a great story to go with it, that it came from your dad saying that to you.

• 1:36:24Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:36:24Theo Von?

  That's awesome, that's a nice reminder.

• 1:36:26Speaker 02

  Should we do one more?

• 1:36:27Theo Von?

I mean, I'll, I will definitely be here for that.

• 1:36:31Speaker 02

He picked out a good one. I think we should do Broken.

• 1:36:34Theo Von?

  I'll do it.

• 1:36:35Speaker 02

  Alright, yes, first chorus.

• 1:36:37Theo Von?

And is it about, well, never mind, I'll just be quiet.

• 1:36:43Speaker 02

You're figuring this town out one day at a time, ain't you?

• 1:36:45Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:37:01Speaker 08

Don't ask if I'm doing alright Can we skip all the talking, baby? And don't try to find the right thing to say Cause the words ain't working on me lately Tears just fall on a hardwood floor Gonna wonder why, gonna wonder what for Don't ask if I'm doing alright Can we skip all the talking, baby? Just let me, just let me, just let me be broken Just let me, just let me, just let me be broken Yeah

• 1:37:51Speaker 08

Can't you hear this live with the crowd? Oh, yeah, with their lighters. Lighters. People holding up pictures of people they've lost. Look at them there. Literally. I'll give you one shot of you with that light, dude. That's pretty clutch.

• 1:38:10Speaker 08

Yeah, a lot of singing choruses on this record. I thought a lot about like wanting people to sing along to these songs. You did? Yeah. You thought about that? A lot, you know? I mean, I don't know, I just... No, it's interesting. Sometimes there's so many words in the songs that I was just like, I cannot remember. But I can remember the melody, you know? So a lot with these songs, I wanted them to be kind of easy to remember. Big singing choruses, like, you know, you hear that chorus once and you already knew how to sing it. Yeah. Yeah, because you want to feel a part of it. I mean, I think as a listener, you want to feel a part of it as quick as you can sometimes. Especially if you're a fan of somebody or like, you know? If it fits you, some of them, you know? Certain songs fit certain people better than others. Well, maybe you haven't heard all the songs and you just know like one or two and then you come to the show,

• 1:38:52Speaker 08

but you can still catch on to songs throughout the show because...

• 1:39:45Theo Von?

Cause I hate just standing there.

• 1:39:46Speaker 02

I hate just standing there. I have too much ADHD to just stand there.

• 1:39:49Theo Von?

God, and you have to keep getting snacks because you don't know the song. You're like, well shit, I'm I'll get another snack or whatever.

• 1:39:55Speaker 02

  Get another pretzel, I guess.

• 1:39:56Theo Von?

  Yeah, I'll get another pretzel.

• 1:39:57Speaker 02

Maybe make it cinnamon this time.

• 1:39:59Theo Von?

Yeah, maybe I'll change things up or something and get a damn diet Gatorade or whatever. Which they never came out with, which I have written them about. Um, I had this, I had this, like Choosing Texas is probably, it's the biggest song everywhere. Apparently they had like, somebody called it, they called it, they found an alien or something. He was singing it. I think like, there was like a family of aliens they saw somewhere that were, they saw them singing it. Like, it's number one on everything. It's like, you know, it's like the biggest song that's ever happened. Some guy, you see that guy in a coma who he kinda wakes up and mumbles one of the lyrics and then goes back into a coma. Yeah. He's like

• 1:40:36Speaker 02

  Getting them right back.

• 1:40:37Theo Von?

  Right off. Um.

• 1:40:39Speaker 02

No, I haven't seen that one.

• 1:40:40Theo Von?

There's so many memes to it though. Have you seen a lot of those?

• 1:40:42Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:40:44Theo Von?

Let's, can we bring some up? What do you think about all these?

• 1:40:47Speaker 02

I think that it's, it's whatever people want to do with the song. You know, once I put it out there, it's like, who knows what could happen. And I, like I said, this is what's gonna keep songs alive.

• 1:40:59Speaker 02

  You know, it's

• 1:41:04Theo Von?

  Yeah, this is

• 1:41:04Speaker 02

It does sound too, it does sound real close to that.

• 1:41:07Theo Von?

  Drinking Jack off by myself?

• 1:41:08Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 1:41:09Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:41:10Speaker 02

I think it does. It does. And that like, I'll get songs stuck in my head and parts to it. And I just have that right there stuck in my head, like on repeat over and over again now.

• 1:41:20Theo Von?

Just drinking Jack up on myself?

• 1:41:21Speaker 02

It's like drinking Jack on and

• 1:41:23Theo Von?

And have you ever accidentally sung it like that on stage or no?

• 1:41:25Speaker 02

I feared that a lot. I really do. Cause I have the thing about me where it's like, I have one specific thing I should not say, and then I'm accidentally gonna probably say it. Like, I don't know why.

• 1:41:35Theo Von?

  God, yeah.

• 1:41:36Speaker 02

  Yeah, so.

• 1:41:37Theo Von?

That's cause damn Satan's tickling you from the inside, that's why. Here's one right here.

• 1:41:46Theo Von?

Yeah. It's Jews, there's Jews in Texas.

• 1:41:51Speaker 02

I see a new one all the time.

• 1:41:58Theo Von?

Drinking Jack off by myself, there's Jews in Texas, I can tell. And it's just a, see me, a mixed guy at least, possibly a black man, fishing in a suburban manmade pond.

• 1:42:10Speaker 02

There's no way that they're fishing that pond right now.

• 1:42:12Theo Von?

  You don't think?

• 1:42:13Speaker 02

  No way.

• 1:42:14Theo Von?

I don't know, I bet there's some damn missing women in that bitch. Pull up one more.

• 1:42:20Speaker 02

  This?

• 1:42:30Speaker 02

  My dad loves that one.

• 1:42:34Theo Von?

It says, uh, some people can't see it because they're listening. Well, I'm spitting down, I can't help but cry because I farted, it says on the screen. So that's what they're saying she said, that's hilarious.

• 1:42:47Theo Von?

Yeah, the only ones I've seen is the Jews in Texas and then, uh, drinking Jack off by myself.

• 1:42:52Speaker 02

It does. It's like that, you can be my green bean, you remember that thing?

• 1:42:56Theo Von?

  You can be-

• 1:42:57Speaker 02

You can be my queen bee, Lord, you remember that song?

• 1:42:59Theo Von?

  Oh.

• 1:43:00Speaker 02

And everyone was like, you can be my green-

• 1:43:01Theo Von?

  Lord, yes.

• 1:43:02Speaker 02

Yeah, I used to do that my-

• 1:43:04Theo Von?

I can not on my blood.

• 1:43:05Speaker 02

  You can be my queen.

• 1:43:07Theo Von?

Life's a pain to pass, give me gonna, you don't want them, something with us, you say it.

• 1:43:15Speaker 02

You can be my green bean.

• 1:43:16Theo Von?

You could, oh yeah. You could be my queen bee.

• 1:43:19Speaker 02

But everyone's always saying green bean.

• 1:43:21Theo Von?

Oh, you could be my green bean. Okay, I gotta stop, dude, for some reason. Some real man shows up and chokes me out. Uh, can we, uh, okay, moving on, um, Ella Langley. And then your own tour, you have your own tour.

• 1:43:36Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 1:43:36Theo Von?

It's kicking off after, or it's in between the one with, uh, with direct support from Morgan?

• 1:43:41Speaker 02

Kind of back and forth some. We start in May, May what? May 7th.

• 1:43:47Theo Von?

  Hmm.

• 1:43:48Speaker 02

Where, where do we start? Toledo, Ohio. Yep, Toledo, Ohio.

• 1:43:51Theo Von?

I think it's when Vietnam was, was that where Vietnam was? Or, no, I know it wasn't, sorry, I know Vietnam was on a Toledo. I think Vietnam started May 7th.

• 1:44:01Speaker 02

  Oh, that's the day.

• 1:44:02Theo Von?

I should not, it doesn't matter either way.

• 1:44:04Speaker 02

  At this point.

• 1:44:06Theo Von?

Let's pretend that's not part of this.

• 1:44:09Theo Von?

Well, you got double Marlowes on it, you got Dylan Marlowe and Cameron Marlowe.

• 1:44:12Speaker 02

  Not related.

• 1:44:14Theo Von?

Two totally different singers, both great.

• 1:44:16Speaker 02

  Mm-hmm. Kaitlyn Butts on there.

• 1:44:19Theo Von?

Trying to think if I've heard her before. Can you bring up Kaitlyn Butts?

• 1:44:22Speaker 02

You ain't gotta die to be dead to me. And she is, she has an incredible cover of, um...

• 1:44:30Speaker 02

  I went down to Tulsa.

• 1:44:33Theo Von?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:44:34Speaker 02

Yeah, she's incredible. She's, her voice is incredible. She's so fun. Her songs are fun.

• 1:44:48Speaker 02

  She's also really funny.

• 1:44:49Theo Von?

  She's funny?

• 1:44:50Speaker 02

  Yes.

• 1:44:50Theo Von?

Oh, that's the best. That's good.

• 1:44:51Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:44:52Theo Von?

Yeah, one thing about being on tour-

• 1:44:53Speaker 02

  I love funny girls.

• 1:44:53Theo Von?

Being on tour, there's nothing better than funny girl. A lot of funny girls I notice, and this is something I noticed, is that a lot of them are from Philadelphia area.

• 1:45:03Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:45:04Speaker 02

  What made you notice that?

• 1:45:05Theo Von?

I just noticed it. And I believed it.

• 1:45:09Speaker 02

Well, that's all you gotta do, I guess.

• 1:45:11Theo Von?

When I noticed it, I believed it.

• 1:45:12Speaker 02

And then, then that's what it is.

• 1:45:14Theo Von?

Yeah, sometimes you meet some funny girls from outside, or from Philadelphia area. But anyway, also, Kaitlyn Butts. And I look forward to getting to meet her sometime.

• 1:45:23Speaker 02

She's really good. And then Gabriella Rose is, um... First of three for almost the whole thing. She's incredible.

• 1:45:30Theo Von?

Diplo was telling me something about her, I think, maybe.

• 1:45:32Speaker 02

Oh, she's so good. I believe in her a lot. She's young, um, and she's still like, you know, finding herself in her artistry and, um, you know, doing the whole damn thing. But she's so good, and...

• 1:45:43Theo Von?

  Yeah?

• 1:45:43Speaker 02

Yeah, yeah. The way she writes, it's like, you can tell she means what she says. And then Lacey K. Booth is another one, so...

• 1:45:50Theo Von?

My god. They are just some good women out there.

• 1:45:54Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 1:45:55Theo Von?

And we are glad they're doing it.

• 1:45:58Speaker 02

  Well, yep.

• 1:45:59Theo Von?

  We are glad. Um...

• 1:46:02Speaker 02

  We are glad.

• 1:46:04Theo Von?

Sorry, I don't know. Is this the weirdest interview? Is it okay, guys?

• 1:46:09Theo Von?

Those guys are perverts, both of them. Um, Ella, thanks so much for hanging out with us.

• 1:46:16Speaker 02

  Thank you for having me.

• 1:46:17Theo Von?

I appreciate it. Congratulations on all of your success, on everything that's going on. And, uh, just learning to like, figure it out, cause I think that's, that's one thing that everybody's trying to do. I think sometimes people think that like, people like it are in some sort of limelight, or going through some sort of like popularity or exposure or fame that they-

• 1:46:34Speaker 02

There's like a conductor behind the stage that's like telling you what to do every second of the day?

• 1:46:38Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:46:39Speaker 02

No. Sadly, that ours is in there. Can you imagine what our conductors look like too in there? It's a mess.

• 1:46:47Theo Von?

If they pulled out whoever lives in my head from behind a building?

• 1:46:51Theo Von?

From behind a building and they're like, "Look what we found back there." I would like, fucking hang him from the nearest rope, bro.

• 1:47:00Speaker 02

Have you ever watched the Inside Out movie?

• 1:47:01Theo Von?

And he wouldn't have pants on, I bet.

• 1:47:03Speaker 02

  Probably.

• 1:47:04Theo Von?

You're like, "Wait, you're telling me the guy in my head?"

• 1:47:07Speaker 02

  Has never had pants on.

• 1:47:08Theo Von?

Has never had pants. Like, the officer's like, "He doesn't own pants." You're like, "Well, what?"

• 1:47:12Speaker 02

  We can't afford pants?

• 1:47:17Theo Von?

Have I ever watched the Inside Out movie?

• 1:47:19Speaker 02

Yeah. It was like the characters that live in your brain, the cartoons. Uh, you would love this movie. I actually think that you would. It's incredible.

• 1:47:26Theo Von?

  I've never seen this.

• 1:47:27Speaker 02

You should. You should see it with your eyes. It's very good.

• 1:47:30Theo Von?

  Okay.

• 1:47:32Speaker 02

It's like, about all these characters, like, they all are like, it's like sad, mad. There's like one main girl and then there's like a, I don't know what the other one is. Joy.

• 1:47:42Theo Von?

  Yeah, there's some anger, disgust.

• 1:47:43Speaker 02

Oh, I see. I see all of them. They're all labeled up there.

• 1:47:46Theo Von?

  Oh, wow.

• 1:47:48Speaker 02

Anyway, this always made me think about that.

• 1:47:50Theo Von?

  I appreciate that.

• 1:47:52Speaker 02

Welcome. Just something for later on the plane, whenever you're on the plane.

• 1:47:55Theo Von?

Yeah. After I get done listening to Dandelion, then-

• 1:47:58Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:47:58Theo Von?

I'll, uh, I'll put on Inside Out. I'm sure the people sitting next to you are like, "This guy's going through a lot."

• 1:48:05Speaker 02

No, no. If someone came up on you watching that, they'd be like, "Yeah, for sure."

• 1:48:08Theo Von?

Probably. It's kinda crazy that that's where we're at now. If an adult came up on another adult watching a fucking cartoon, they'd be like, "Yeah, man, you're doing, everything's fine."

• 1:48:16Speaker 02

He must be having a hard day.

• 1:48:18Theo Von?

It's a crazy world. Um, so you're gonna be on tour for a bit then? You won't get to go back home for a while? Or do you have a set date where you're gonna go back home? Will you be home for Easter? Will you be home for?

• 1:48:26Speaker 02

Yep, I'm gonna go home for Easter and then um.

• 1:48:29Theo Von?

Will you go back to the church that you grew up in?

• 1:48:31Speaker 02

No, no. Um, just I kinda, well, we moved to a different place. My parents just sold that house, actually. Um, they closed out like a week or two ago.

• 1:48:40Theo Von?

  Oh, nice.

• 1:48:40Speaker 02

Yeah. But yeah, I just bought a house back there on the lake and don't wanna say where cuz people already come up on their boats and stuff playing my music. It's kinda funny.

• 1:48:50Theo Von?

People are perverts? People are seafaring perverts?

• 1:48:53Speaker 02

It's not. It's a small town, you know what I mean? They're like.

• 1:48:56Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:48:57Speaker 02

They're cool. There's like the closest, it's just like a Piggly Wiggly and a DJ there, you know?

• 1:49:01Theo Von?

Oh, yeah. I mean, people used to pull up our apartments and steal all the ditch onions that were out there.

• 1:49:06Speaker 02

  I never, what?

• 1:49:07Theo Von?

  You haven't?

• 1:49:07Speaker 02

  Mm-mm. I have never.

• 1:49:09Theo Von?

Oh, they got ditch onions out there. Um, and congratulations on choosing Texas as a number one. It's a number one for?

• 1:49:20Speaker 02

It's so many. I don't even, it's too many slices, too many things. It's actually crazy.

• 1:49:26Theo Von?

It's a number one for everything. I think it just came out on the moon. It's the first number one on the moon, I think.

• 1:49:31Speaker 02

Yeah, I don't really know. That would be nuts. Um, no, uh, yeah, I don't know. It's just so weird to to, to, to believe that that's like a song, that's my song?

• 1:49:41Theo Von?

  Yeah.

• 1:49:42Speaker 02

  What?

• 1:49:43Theo Von?

I know it's hard to feel attached to things that you do sometimes.

• 1:49:46Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:49:46Theo Von?

  I think.

• 1:49:47Speaker 02

  Yep.

• 1:49:47Theo Von?

I think that that makes good sense. Um, well, maybe that's one of the things that makes you you, but whatever the things are that make you you, uh, they're enjoyable to witness. So, thank you for, uh, spending time with us. Thank you for your music. There's so many people I know that love it and that it brings joy to their life and, um, I'm glad I got to meet Mustache Stu. And, uh, yeah, when I need some photos and my conditioner sets, I'm gonna call you. And dang, get something swell going on.

• 1:50:15Speaker 02

  Something swell.

• 1:50:16Theo Von?

Yeah, something swell. Um, Ella Langley, thank you.

• 1:50:20Speaker 02

Thank you for having me on here.

• 1:50:22Theo Von?

  Yes, ma'am.

• 1:50:49Speaker 00
