• 0:06Ant McPartlin?

  Oh yeah.

• 0:07Declan Donnelly?

We're on air. Hello everybody, welcome along.

• 0:10Ant McPartlin?

Look how big your shirt is.

• 0:12Declan Donnelly?

  It's quite big, isn't it?

• 0:13Ant McPartlin?

  It's too big, isn't it?

• 0:13Declan Donnelly?

If you're listening at home and you're wearing a tent.

• 0:15Ant McPartlin?

It's too, it's too big, shall I change?

• 0:18Declan Donnelly?

I'd like to change. Good morning, good evening, welcome along to another Hanging Out with Ant and Dec Mystery Door episode.

• 0:25Ant McPartlin?

Last week was good, wasn't it? With the psychic sister Jane.

• 0:28Declan Donnelly?

The tarot's were good, weren't they? Let's hope they were good anyway.

• 0:30Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, so it was going to run for 10 years and it's going to be a huge success and be turned into a TV show.

• 0:34Declan Donnelly?

She said the States was going to come knocking. Have we had any listeners from the States this week?

• 0:39Speaker 02

  Uh, Wisconsin.

• 0:40Ant McPartlin?

  Wisconsin, of course.

• 0:41Declan Donnelly?

  West Wisconsin.

• 0:42Ant McPartlin?

  West Wisconsin.

• 0:43Declan Donnelly?

You can't knock her for that.

• 0:44Ant McPartlin?

  You see?

• 0:45Declan Donnelly?

  She's good.

• 0:46Ant McPartlin?

  She is good.

• 0:47Declan Donnelly?

  She's good.

• 0:48Ant McPartlin?

So, we're here for another Mystery Door Monday.

• 0:49Declan Donnelly?

  Yes.

• 0:50Ant McPartlin?

I hope it's not as in-depth as last week. Like, I felt a bit, phew.

• 0:55Declan Donnelly?

  It's quite intense.

• 0:56Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, when we left here, I got stuck in loads of traffic. Uh, thankfully I wasn't driving.

• 1:00Declan Donnelly?

She didn't mourn you about that, did she?

• 1:01Ant McPartlin?

She did mourn us about that. But I just kind of learned the boxy, love. For now.

• 1:05Declan Donnelly?

  Did you?

• 1:06Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, I did.

• 1:07Declan Donnelly?

For those that are just listening to this, Ant's put in a really

• 1:10Ant McPartlin?

  Gomless space.

• 1:11Declan Donnelly?

  Gomless space, yeah.

• 1:12Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, yeah. So I'm normally travelling in the back of cars.

• 1:14Declan Donnelly?

  Bit spaced out.

• 1:15Ant McPartlin?

Spaced out, yeah. I should have said this, last week, we went when we were 15? Do you remember?

• 1:23Declan Donnelly?

  Yes.

• 1:24Ant McPartlin?

We went to a place in Willy Bay, uh, which is near Newcastle, and we got our palms raised.

• 1:30Declan Donnelly?

  Completely forgot about it.

• 1:31Ant McPartlin?

  Do you remember?

• 1:32Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah.

• 1:33Ant McPartlin?

We got our palms raised, and do you want to know what she said? She said to Dec, who went in first, that he is going to be on stage and he's going to have a successful stage career, didn't she?

• 1:43Declan Donnelly?

  That's right.

• 1:44Ant McPartlin?

She said to me, "I was going to be a plumber." She did. She said, "I see you work with your hands, something like, uh, you're a plumber or something." And, and my dad's a plumber, so I went, I think I jumped in and said, "Plumber?" She went, "Yeah, plumber."

• 2:00Ant McPartlin?

How wrong she was. Not as good as Jane. Who said we're gonna run for 10 years and be a hit in the States? We've got to make our declarations about this Monday.

• 2:11Declan Donnelly?

  We do.

• 2:12Ant McPartlin?

I can declare, I don't know who is behind our mystery door.

• 2:18Declan Donnelly?

Well, I can declare, I also don't know who or what is behind the mystery door.

• 2:26Ant McPartlin?

  Really?

• 2:26Declan Donnelly?

Yeah, so it's two weeks in a row.

• 2:28Ant McPartlin?

I thought one of us would have known this.

• 2:29Declan Donnelly?

Hmm, no, neither of us do, so.

• 2:31Ant McPartlin?

Another one, oh god, I'm gonna sit in the car like that. Doorless on that.

• 2:38Declan Donnelly?

Both completely in the dark, once again, so we'll just sit here and wait for the knock at the door.

• 2:46Ant McPartlin?

  Oh.

• 2:46Declan Donnelly?

  There it is.

• 2:47Ant McPartlin?

Bang on cue, shall I get it?

• 2:49Declan Donnelly?

No, let me get it. Did you get it last week?

• 2:50Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, I did get it last week.

• 2:51Declan Donnelly?

  Let me get it.

• 2:51Ant McPartlin?

Go on, this shirt's a bit big, I don't want a shot on camera.

• 2:54Declan Donnelly?

Whereas I am very happy to show you my jumper.

• 2:56Ant McPartlin?

Imagine you in this shirt. Whoa, I look like, stand up, I look like a tent.

• 3:01Declan Donnelly?

Uh, oh, I've left them waiting at the door, hang on.

• 3:03Ant McPartlin?

  Go on then.

• 3:05Declan Donnelly?

  Stay on.

• 3:11Declan Donnelly?

  This is exciting.

• 3:12Ant McPartlin?

  Is it?

• 3:12Declan Donnelly?

  This is exciting.

• 3:14Ant McPartlin?

This is, look at his reaction there. This is gonna be good.

• 3:17Declan Donnelly?

  What's your name? It's Will.

• 3:20Ant McPartlin?

  William.

• 3:20Declan Donnelly?

  No, not William.

• 3:22Ant McPartlin?

Will, William Boyd. It's William Boyd, my favourite author. Let him in.

• 3:28Declan Donnelly?

  Come on in, Will.

• 3:28Ant McPartlin?

  Oh, it's not William Boyd.

• 3:31Ant McPartlin?

Hello, Will. How are you? From Guinness World Records.

• 3:34Declan Donnelly?

Hi, Will, come on in, we're gonna get you a chair.

• 3:36Ant McPartlin?

Grab a seat, um, got another microphone.

• 3:40Declan Donnelly?

You've got a microphone, come on in, Will.

• 3:42Ant McPartlin?

I won't get up, my shirt's too big, yeah. And I don't want a shot on camera.

• 3:47Declan Donnelly?

For those of you listening, Will is here in a Guinness World Records blazer, tie, he's got a clipboard in front of him with officially amazing written on it. Uh, and now we know, because you guys, you Guinness World Records guys, have been down to a lot of the shows that we've done, Britain's Got Talent, Saturday Night Takeaway, various shows we've done in the past. And when you guys turn up the show, something exciting is always about to happen.

• 4:09Ant McPartlin?

  It's normally exciting and chaotic.

• 4:12Declan Donnelly?

  Can be chaotic.

• 4:12Ant McPartlin?

  Sometimes can be dangerous.

• 4:16Declan Donnelly?

  I see nothing.

• 4:16Ant McPartlin?

It can be, yeah, it can be, it can be anything. Can we tell us why you are here?

• 4:20Declan Donnelly?

I can, I can. So I can confirm that one of you will be attempting a Guinness World Records title today.

• 4:26Speaker 03

I did. On here on the podcast.

• 4:29Declan Donnelly?

On the podcast today, yes. One of you will be attempting a Guinness World Records title. At this point, I won't tell you who.

• 4:34Ant McPartlin?

  Okay, don't.

• 4:35Declan Donnelly?

Before we get there, yes. Can I just state, I am a genuine fan of your work. I used to get the Guinness Book of Records every year for Christmas.

• 4:43Ant McPartlin?

Course you did. Course, it's such a deck thing to do that.

• 4:47Declan Donnelly?

Did you get it, Lola? Every year, and it was my favourite present. It's my, I used to love it.

• 4:51Speaker 03

  Really?

• 4:51Declan Donnelly?

Christmas night, go through the Guinness Book of World Records and.

• 4:55Ant McPartlin?

Do what, do what with it? What would you do with the book?

• 4:57Declan Donnelly?

  Just take.

• 4:58Ant McPartlin?

  Drinking it.

• 4:59Declan Donnelly?

Drinking it, take the knowledge from it.

• 5:01Ant McPartlin?

Would you try and ever do any of them in like in the back garden?

• 5:03Declan Donnelly?

No, but I always kind of thought, oh, one day I would love to break a Guinness World Record. So today could be the day.

• 5:11Ant McPartlin?

  Today could be the day.

• 5:12Declan Donnelly?

I think I got my first book in probably round about 1983, 1984. Around then, when I was about eight, seven, eight, nine. When did Guinness World Records start doing a Book of World Records?

• 5:24Speaker 03

Right, so we started in 1955. No way. Yes.

• 5:28Ant McPartlin?

So a lot of books for you to catch up on now.

• 5:31Speaker 03

So originally, the book was created by the owner of the Guinness Brewery.

• 5:35Ant McPartlin?

  So there is a connection.

• 5:37Speaker 03

There is a connection, but no longer.

• 5:38Ant McPartlin?

Why did he start the book?

• 5:39Speaker 03

So he started the book because he was on a hunting trip with his friends. His name was Sir Hugh Beaver, which is a name that's not.

• 5:46Ant McPartlin?

  It's like Guinness.

• 5:48Speaker 03

Name that's easy to remember, anyway. And he's on a hunting trip with his friends and they can't decide what the fastest game bird is. And they're having an argument in the bar afterwards about this. So he gets to a point where he says, right, I need a book that's gonna settle pub arguments.

• 6:03Ant McPartlin?

  That's a, that's great, isn't it?

• 6:06Speaker 03

  That is really good.

• 6:07Ant McPartlin?

Up until then, pub arguments were settled by a fight, I presume.

• 6:10Declan Donnelly?

  Or a duel.

• 6:11Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah, a duel.

• 6:12Declan Donnelly?

Well, maybe not in 1955. I'm thinking more Middle Ages.

• 6:15Ant McPartlin?

No, but you know what I mean, you're wrong, no, you're wrong. All right, get outside, let's fight about it. But no, wait, how about we just read the Guinness Book of World Records?

• 6:24Speaker 03

So, so he has this, this thought and then he goes to Fleet Street, meets the Maguitas, fact finding twins, who then go out.

• 6:31Ant McPartlin?

  The Maguerta fact finding twin.

• 6:33Declan Donnelly?

Well, they weren't known as that. Norris McWherter and his brother, can't remember his name. Will?

• 6:39Speaker 03

  No.

• 6:40Declan Donnelly?

  No, your Will.

• 6:40Speaker 03

  I will.

• 6:41Declan Donnelly?

  I wasn't there.

• 6:43Speaker 03

So anyway, they put this book together and they stock it in every single pub that stocks Guinness in the country. And interestingly, the first one was waterproof as well because they knew beer was gonna get spilled on it.

• 6:53Ant McPartlin?

  Trevor, Trevor.

• 6:55Speaker 03

So yeah, and then it slowly evolved into what is now a children's publication and everything else that comes with it.

• 7:00Declan Donnelly?

  And how many?

• 7:01Ant McPartlin?

God, you really are into this, aren't you?

• 7:03Speaker 03

  Genuinely.

• 7:03Ant McPartlin?

  Like a nerd level?

• 7:04Speaker 03

  Yes, I'm a huge fan.

• 7:06Ant McPartlin?

  N- nerd level.

• 7:07Declan Donnelly?

Um, how many records are in the current Guinness Book of Records?

• 7:12Speaker 03

So every year, we don't put all the records in the book because there's simply too many, but we have ninety thousand titles at the moment on our, on our system. Now, not all of them are active, so around about seventy thousand are active.

• 7:24Ant McPartlin?

What do you mean active? Like they're the ones being contested or?

• 7:27Speaker 03

Yeah, they're the ones being contested or being.

• 7:28Ant McPartlin?

  Trying them.

• 7:29Speaker 03

Yeah, sometimes things um get sort of changed over the years and no longer can we monitor things for different reasons. Um, but yeah, that's, that's around about seventy thousand titles at the moment that you could have a go at.

• 7:40Ant McPartlin?

  Really?

• 7:41Declan Donnelly?

  And this is global, right?

• 7:42Speaker 03

  Absolutely, yeah.

• 7:43Declan Donnelly?

So you can do this all over the world.

• 7:45Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 7:45Declan Donnelly?

So you've got contributors everywhere. How do you keep track of them all?

• 7:48Speaker 03

It's a great question. So what we do.

• 7:50Declan Donnelly?

  Great question.

• 7:52Speaker 03

So what we do is we have, I mean, we do have offices all over the world and we have people who, the great thing now is that people don't need to send in letters and their evidence in the post. As you can imagine, certain records, you don't really want to receive that evidence in the post. But we have an online uh where people can go and go online, see a record that they like and then apply for it. Uh, and then they can send in video evidence and all you would need is an independent person to be there to witness it for you and then fill in that you've done it. And then we can watch the video back and hopefully get, get you a Guinness Book of Records title.

• 8:22Declan Donnelly?

You've got to protect the integrity.

• 8:23Speaker 03

  Right, exactly, yeah.

• 8:24Ant McPartlin?

  Well, of course.

• 8:25Declan Donnelly?

  The Guinness Book of Records.

• 8:26Ant McPartlin?

Who grew up reading these books, you know what anyone just did, you know?

• 8:30Declan Donnelly?

  Willy nilly?

• 8:30Ant McPartlin?

Willy nilly, messing around with them, they've got to be a.

• 8:32Declan Donnelly?

That's not your surname, is it, nilly?

• 8:35Speaker 03

  No, it's not.

• 8:40Speaker 03

I couldn't be that serious about records if that was my name.

• 8:44Ant McPartlin?

  It's our genetic, Willy nilly.

• 8:48Ant McPartlin?

Please change your name, buddy, Paul.

• 8:52Declan Donnelly?

  Are there

• 8:55Declan Donnelly?

are there categories or records that are really popular and really hotly contested more than others?

• 9:02Speaker 03

Yeah, I'd say, um, physical fitness. People are really into that.

• 9:06Ant McPartlin?

  Boring, boring.

• 9:10Ant McPartlin?

  Boring, oh no.

• 9:11Declan Donnelly?

And you're doing as many burpees as you can.

• 9:14Speaker 03

Um, speed eating, that's another big one.

• 9:16Ant McPartlin?

  Oh, really?

• 9:18Speaker 03

  Yeah, you're good?

• 9:19Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, well, I've never tried it, but I like watching that kind of stuff, like hot dogs and all that.

• 9:24Declan Donnelly?

They just swallow them, don't they?

• 9:25Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 9:25Speaker 03

Yeah, well, you've got to remember, this is, this is a career for some people.

• 9:28Ant McPartlin?

  A career?

• 9:29Declan Donnelly?

  A career, absolutely.

• 9:30Ant McPartlin?

You made a career of eating hot dogs?

• 9:32Speaker 03

Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm sure you're aware of the work of, you know, Joey Chestnut, one of the greatest competitive eaters.

• 9:36Ant McPartlin?

  No.

• 9:37Speaker 03

Well, you know, th- these are people who consistently win world titles every year at certain feats and h- him in particular is a world hot dog eating champion multiple times.

• 9:45Ant McPartlin?

Do you know the, the work of Joey Chestnut?

• 9:47Speaker 03

  I do not.

• 9:48Ant McPartlin?

  Oh, I'm surprised.

• 9:50Speaker 03

No, I don't. And I, I think, you know, the, the, the great thing is that sometimes people look at our records and they go, well, that's ridiculous. Why on earth would you spend your life doing that?

• 9:57Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 9:57Speaker 03

Then you go, this is really, really, that person's Everest. This is what they've trained their whole life to do.

• 10:02Ant McPartlin?

Joey Chestnut ever tried to eat chestnuts? Like, like speed eating? That can be dangerous.

• 10:07Speaker 03

Not that I'm aware of, it's a great idea.

• 10:10Ant McPartlin?

  Thanks.

• 10:13Declan Donnelly?

On some of our TV shows, we've done world record breaking attempts.

• 10:17Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 10:17Declan Donnelly?

Are we in the Guinness Book of World Records at the moment?

• 10:20Speaker 03

Well, you do have an existing title.

• 10:22Declan Donnelly?

  We do?

• 10:22Speaker 03

  Yes, you do.

• 10:23Ant McPartlin?

  What?

• 10:23Speaker 03

But that's for the number of NTAs you want.

• 10:25Declan Donnelly?

  Ah.

• 10:28Ant McPartlin?

Tell us, tell us how it is.

• 10:30Declan Donnelly?

I, I don't know whether we've updated the record recently. Well, you don't have to update it recently, we didn't win last year.

• 10:36Ant McPartlin?

Twenty-three consecutive wins is a, it was a, was a world record, I think.

• 10:40Speaker 03

And you met my colleague Mark that day?

• 10:41Ant McPartlin?

  Yes.

• 10:42Declan Donnelly?

  Yes, right, yeah.

• 10:43Ant McPartlin?

I could love the TV show.

• 10:45Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah, well.

• 10:46Ant McPartlin?

  Michael Bremer.

• 10:46Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah.

• 10:47Speaker 03

Be great to have it back, I guess.

• 10:48Ant McPartlin?

They would, they would. The perfect horse to start to ride that. I'm busy, but he, he will happily do it.

• 10:54Declan Donnelly?

So this is an existing record that we're going to try and break today?

• 10:56Speaker 03

Absolutely an existing record, and this record has been held since 2012.

• 11:00Ant McPartlin?

Oh, wow. And people have attempted to try and beat it?

• 11:03Speaker 03

  Absolutely, yeah.

• 11:04Ant McPartlin?

  And they failed?

• 11:05Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 11:06Ant McPartlin?

Oh, great. Thanks, Will. I thought I was talking.

• 11:11Ant McPartlin?

Okay, can we ask you some questions about it?

• 11:13Speaker 03

  Of course.

• 11:13Ant McPartlin?

Is it some form of physical?

• 11:18Speaker 03

  Exertion.

• 11:19Ant McPartlin?

Exertion, like burpees in a minute or press ups in a minute?

• 11:25Speaker 03

Not in the purist sense, but I'd be surprised if you weren't sweating afterwards, yeah.

• 11:30Speaker 03

Oh, going to work a sweat up, I'm gonna have to take my jumper off. It's this very woolly jumper. Is it anything to do with sports equipment? Nothing to do with sports equipment.

• 11:42Ant McPartlin?

Okay. Will it make us look more or less attractive to the opposite sex if we can pull this off?

• 11:50Speaker 03

That's a great question. I think world records in general do make you more attractive to the opposite. I agree.

• 11:55Ant McPartlin?

If you hold a world record, you're sexy, yeah.

• 11:57Speaker 03

  I definitely agree with that.

• 11:58Ant McPartlin?

  I do agree.

• 11:58Speaker 03

Is it something that we will need?

• 12:04Speaker 03

Not necessarily sports equipment, but equipment or a prop? Yes, you will need something.

• 12:08Ant McPartlin?

  Right.

• 12:10Ant McPartlin?

Why are you so obsessed with equipment?

• 12:12Speaker 03

Let's need it off. I'm gonna be going for this just purely me or whether I need to master a piece of equipment.

• 12:19Ant McPartlin?

  So there is equipment needed?

• 12:21Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 12:21Ant McPartlin?

Okay. It's not the speed eating you're talking about, is it?

• 12:26Ant McPartlin?

  Is it?

• 12:27Speaker 03

Today. And we'll be speed eating.

• 12:31Ant McPartlin?

  Yes, I love hot dogs.

• 12:32Speaker 03

  I love hot dogs.

• 12:33Ant McPartlin?

But I tell you what, though, that's, that's hard. Is it? Well, last question. Is it hot dogs?

• 12:38Speaker 03

  It's not hot.

• 12:40Ant McPartlin?

Okay, shall we find out what it is?

• 12:43Speaker 03

You will be attempting the Guinness World Records title for the most bananas peeled and eaten in one minute. Peeled and eaten in one minute.

• 12:54Ant McPartlin?

I love bananas, Will, but you knew that, Will. You knew that. That's how you picked me.

• 12:58Speaker 03

What is the current record standing up? The current record to be is eight bananas. But in one minute. In one minute, but, but there are some guidelines around.

• 13:07Ant McPartlin?

  Right, okay.

• 13:08Speaker 03

It's very important to remember you have to eat them one at a time.

• 13:11Ant McPartlin?

  Yes.

• 13:11Speaker 03

In no way should the bananas be opened at all before you attempt the record. And you have to show me your mouth every time you've eaten a banana. Bush took a try.

• 13:20Ant McPartlin?

Is that on the celebrity? Okay, all right.

• 13:24Speaker 03

  That's exciting.

• 13:24Ant McPartlin?

Are you good? It's not you?

• 13:26Speaker 03

  Um, no.

• 13:31Ant McPartlin?

I just thought as a Guinness World Records uber fan, I suppose you just wanna watch.

• 13:37Declan Donnelly?

Yeah, I just front row seats to the show.

• 13:39Ant McPartlin?

Front row seats to the book. Is that a book coming to life for you?

• 13:42Declan Donnelly?

  I love it.

• 13:42Ant McPartlin?

And I'm the cover star. Okay, Will, bring in the bananas.

• 13:50Ant McPartlin?

Who is that? Do you know that person?

• 13:53Declan Donnelly?

Those of you listening, the bananas have been delivered last month.

• 13:55Ant McPartlin?

  By a mysterious hand.

• 13:57Declan Donnelly?

So there we go. Now, are these special, not special bananas, but like they must be record regulated bananas.

• 14:06Speaker 03

Absolutely. These are standard commercially available bananas and they've all been weighed to make sure they're over 128 grams.

• 14:13Ant McPartlin?

  Okay.

• 14:13Declan Donnelly?

  Each.

• 14:14Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah.

• 14:15Ant McPartlin?

Does that feel like 120 grams to you in your hands? For those listening, Deck is holding two bananas in his hands and now he's lifting weights with the bananas. Do you wanna burn?

• 14:25Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah, I do.

• 14:25Ant McPartlin?

Will, do you mind if I tip these out and pick me favorites then?

• 14:28Declan Donnelly?

Absolutely. You can set them up on a table how you choose.

• 14:32Ant McPartlin?

Okay, so clearly if I wanna try and make record, I'm gonna go for, I see, they might be smaller, but they're thicker. Cause they're all the same weight, bit like Deck, smaller but thicker, putting them in the line, four, hold on. And also you don't want them too green.

• 14:49Declan Donnelly?

No, you don't. They could be hard.

• 14:50Ant McPartlin?

They feel hard. Right, hold on. I never thought I'd handle this many bananas in one go. Got excited. I do like, if you don't know this, Will, well, you clearly do know this, cause this is why you pick bananas. I do love bananas. I eat a banana every day.

• 15:06Declan Donnelly?

  At least one.

• 15:07Ant McPartlin?

At least one. One, two, three, four, five. Oh my God, that looks.

• 15:11Declan Donnelly?

You need to get it up to nine at least.

• 15:13Ant McPartlin?

  Six. Why nine?

• 15:14Declan Donnelly?

Cause that's breaking the record, isn't it?

• 15:16Ant McPartlin?

  Wow.

• 15:17Declan Donnelly?

Could equal it with eight. Could, oh, that's good.

• 15:21Ant McPartlin?

  Hold on.

• 15:22Declan Donnelly?

If he does do it today, Will, if Anne pulls this off somehow, if a miracle were to occur. Can I have my name in the book because I was here or is it just him? Uh, unfortunately it wouldn't be on, on the record title itself, but we could definitely, we could mention you. Thank you. Right. Well, I appreciate that.

• 15:41Ant McPartlin?

I'm gonna put the other ones that, that I'm not gonna use right now in back in the basket. So there they go. So right now I put the basket under the table. Um, I've got my nine out on the table in a line. I think I'm gonna go left to right. Yeah, they need to be close to us. I'm gonna bring them a bit closer. So deck con, deck con peel, I've got a peel. Yeah.

• 16:05Declan Donnelly?

Yeah, you have to peel, you have to be the ones peel.

• 16:07Ant McPartlin?

Can I just practice opening, opening this one?

• 16:08Declan Donnelly?

Of course, of course, practise and let me know when you're ready.

• 16:09Ant McPartlin?

So you've got to be quick, so.

• 16:10Declan Donnelly?

  Practice opening.

• 16:12Ant McPartlin?

  What happens?

• 16:14Declan Donnelly?

  Oh.

• 16:15Ant McPartlin?

  What?

• 16:16Declan Donnelly?

Now, if you're just listening to this, that was a very.

• 16:19Ant McPartlin?

  Clumsy.

• 16:19Declan Donnelly?

Clumsy peel. He went in for the, the chew and there was still part of the peel on the banana. If this happens during competition, this is, that's gonna be a disaster.

• 16:30Ant McPartlin?

That might happen, but you can't let that set you back, surely.

• 16:32Declan Donnelly?

But if you get a mouthful of, it's banana peel.

• 16:36Ant McPartlin?

Okay, that's, I'm not gonna eat it. I don't wanna fill up.

• 16:39Declan Donnelly?

  Okay.

• 16:39Ant McPartlin?

I have just had lunch though, which is not a good time for you to come in. Why don't you come in before lunch?

• 16:44Declan Donnelly?

Now, when we do Guinness World Record attempts on Britain's Got Talent, we always have to say, don't try this at home. So don't try this at home and as a trained professional banana eater.

• 16:54Ant McPartlin?

Right, well, I'm gonna, I'm gonna be honest, this is gonna be a stretch.

• 16:59Declan Donnelly?

  World Records are hard.

• 17:00Ant McPartlin?

It's a push. This is the name bananas.

• 17:01Declan Donnelly?

You're gonna stretch, you're gonna stretch as well.

• 17:04Ant McPartlin?

What? I'm not gonna stretch my teeth in. This is gonna be tough.

• 17:07Declan Donnelly?

So I just need to make sure the bananas are placed on a table and not touching each other. Just move this one to the right. Oh, I didn't realise they couldn't be touching each other. Nice.

• 17:16Ant McPartlin?

Hold on, I'm gonna, I'm gonna make sure I can get a good grip on all of these. What's the matter with you?

• 17:24Speaker 03

So before we have an official attempt here, it is very important that I ask you, do you have any known allergies or intolerances to bananas?

• 17:31Ant McPartlin?

  I don't.

• 17:32Speaker 03

He got a sty in his eye from bananas. We think it was from bananas.

• 17:35Ant McPartlin?

We don't know. It wasn't from bananas.

• 17:37Speaker 03

He got an orange stuck in his tear duct, apparently.

• 17:40Ant McPartlin?

Can I drink in the middle of it? People always ask us this on I'm a Celebrity and we always say, during a bush ticket trial, you can only drink at the end of that dish. Can I drink during?

• 17:50Speaker 03

This is one of our eating records where you can sit there, however. However, I think it might.

• 17:56Ant McPartlin?

  However?

• 17:56Speaker 03

Slow you down in this attempt.

• 17:58Ant McPartlin?

  Ah, okay.

• 17:58Speaker 03

Just as a piece of coaching. And remember, you have to show me your mouth in between each banana.

• 18:05Ant McPartlin?

  It's like I'm a celebrity. Right.

• 18:07Speaker 03

I'm gonna give you a clear countdown from three.

• 18:09Ant McPartlin?

  I'm sweating everywhere.

• 18:11Declan Donnelly?

He said you'd be sweating. He hasn't even opened a banana yet.

• 18:14Ant McPartlin?

Okay. Can I start with the ball in my hand?

• 18:17Speaker 03

  No.

• 18:20Speaker 03

Ads flat on the table for.

• 18:21Ant McPartlin?

  Flat on the table?

• 18:24Ant McPartlin?

What is this? Like a girlfriend I'm gonna draw me gun? Like a cowboy western?

• 18:28Declan Donnelly?

  This is so good.

• 18:30Ant McPartlin?

  Ads flat on the table?

• 18:31Speaker 03

Oh my god. I can't wait.

• 18:32Ant McPartlin?

Stop it, because your throat constricts when you're nervous. Relax, just relax, relax.

• 18:38Speaker 03

  I can't wait.

• 18:38Ant McPartlin?

  Relax.

• 18:41Ant McPartlin?

  Relax and chat.

• 18:43Speaker 03

I can't wait to watch this on the telly. This is so good.

• 18:47Ant McPartlin?

  I'm Bella Box, yeah?

• 18:48Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 18:48Ant McPartlin?

  I'm Bella Box. Good. Okay.

• 18:51Speaker 03

  Hang on.

• 18:51Ant McPartlin?

What you count me down from?

• 18:53Speaker 03

I'm counting you down from three.

• 18:54Ant McPartlin?

  Three, that's five.

• 18:56Speaker 03

You are five, we're five. Okay.

• 18:59Declan Donnelly?

  Why do you need five?

• 19:00Ant McPartlin?

  Three's not even a breath.

• 19:04Declan Donnelly?

Oh, it's hurting me. No, it's hurting me head. Oh my god. This is so good. Right. Good luck.

• 19:11Ant McPartlin?

  Thank you, Dave.

• 19:12Speaker 03

I really want you to get my name in the years.

• 19:15Ant McPartlin?

Get your own name in. Oh, I'm nervous now. My throat constricts unless the banana.

• 19:19Speaker 03

  Relax, just relax.

• 19:25Speaker 03

Just relax, just relax, just relax.

• 19:29Ant McPartlin?

  Bananas, bananas.

• 19:32Speaker 03

  My god.

• 19:33Ant McPartlin?

  Ready, Will?

• 19:34Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 19:34Ant McPartlin?

  Come on, mate.

• 19:36Declan Donnelly?

  Get a move on.

• 19:38Ant McPartlin?

What are you sticking on the table? You're just nervous. Right, come on.

• 19:41Speaker 03

  This is an official attempt.

• 19:46Ant McPartlin?

  Still, he's fine.

• 19:48Declan Donnelly?

  It's an official, oh god.

• 19:51Speaker 03

In five, four, three, two, one, go.

• 19:57Declan Donnelly?

Oh, he's off. He's off. First one, it's a good peel. Oh no, he's Mr. Pitt, he's driving. He's dropping his banana on the table. He's always supposed to laugh there. Come on, come on.

• 20:10Declan Donnelly?

Into the second banana now, this is another good peel. He's shown an empty mouth to Will. And goes in for the second banana, half of it is gone, the other half. Gone.

• 20:26Speaker 03

  Thirty seconds remaining.

• 20:27Declan Donnelly?

Oh my god, it's a two!

• 20:34Declan Donnelly?

Unpeel, he peels the third. And it's going for it. Yeah, it's a good one, but yeah.

• 20:41Ant McPartlin?

  You're too hard, Will.

• 20:44Ant McPartlin?

  Why are you doing that?

• 20:46Speaker 03

Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one.

• 21:01Declan Donnelly?

Did he do it? Did he do it?

• 21:05Declan Donnelly?

  Did he do it?

• 21:08Declan Donnelly?

  Will.

• 21:09Speaker 03

  Today.

• 21:10Ant McPartlin?

Will, what is that, that mission?

• 21:12Declan Donnelly?

  Did he do it?

• 21:13Speaker 03

Today, you were attempting the official Guinness World Records title for the most bananas peeled and eaten in one minute. The minimum to beat was eight.

• 21:21Declan Donnelly?

Did he do it, Will? Did he do it?

• 21:24Speaker 03

Unfortunately, I did have to discount one of the bananas.

• 21:27Ant McPartlin?

  Why?

• 21:28Speaker 03

And I can confirm, you achieved one banana.

• 21:33Speaker 03

So unfortunately, you are unsuccessful today.

• 21:36Ant McPartlin?

  Oh my god.

• 21:37Declan Donnelly?

You eat one banana quicker than that, like ordinarily in the car.

• 21:41Ant McPartlin?

Even though it was sprung upon me today. I feel... Dejected, upset, gang dolbon.

• 21:50Declan Donnelly?

  What went wrong?

• 21:51Ant McPartlin?

I only ate one banana in a minute. What, I ate what? Tried to get on my fourth, but you discounted one.

• 21:58Declan Donnelly?

  Which banana counted?

• 21:59Speaker 03

  Uh, the first banana counted.

• 22:02Declan Donnelly?

The one that dropped on the desk?

• 22:02Speaker 03

Yeah, well, you clearly showed me your mouth after that banana. The wheels came off.

• 22:06Ant McPartlin?

I, I thought I would have done better.

• 22:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 22:08Ant McPartlin?

Cause I love, I genuinely love bananas. Do you know what? This has got me really.

• 22:13Declan Donnelly?

  Fired up.

• 22:14Ant McPartlin?

Galvanised now. Fire it up. I want to give this another proper go.

• 22:18Declan Donnelly?

How long do we have to wait before you can re-attempt a, a, a world record? Have you got to like give it six weeks, six months?

• 22:24Speaker 03

No, well, when, when there's an adjudicator there, you can have three attempts.

• 22:31Speaker 03

So really it's up to you.

• 22:34Ant McPartlin?

Well, I don't want to get more than like two bananas.

• 22:36Speaker 03

  No, it was one.

• 22:38Ant McPartlin?

I don't want to get more than one banana in me in a minute. Hold on, let me wipe my hands and then I'm not, I'm not going to break the record, but let's see how many I can get with just, I know you're still, still here and we've all got places to be. But let's just tidy up the desk a little bit.

• 22:51Declan Donnelly?

Oh, I've got nowhere to be.

• 22:52Ant McPartlin?

Let's, let's just get rid of, let's get rid of some of this.

• 22:55Declan Donnelly?

Ant has now got six bananas on the desk in front of him.

• 22:59Ant McPartlin?

I want more than one to count in my official world record attempt.

• 23:02Declan Donnelly?

Okay. This is our second attempt of the day.

• 23:05Ant McPartlin?

  Right.

• 23:06Declan Donnelly?

Second official attempt. In three, two, one, go.

• 23:15Declan Donnelly?

Oh, that's good. Good start, a good peel. He's done half of it, second half is in there. Oh, open mouth. He's on to the second one now. That was a really good start. Second one.

• 23:26Ant McPartlin?

Oh, hold on. It's all over.

• 23:29Declan Donnelly?

  It's harder.

• 23:31Declan Donnelly?

That's good. Oh, this is becoming tougher now. It's a harder banana.

• 23:39Declan Donnelly?

Oh, there we go. He's made tough work of that second one.

• 23:41Speaker 03

  Thirty seconds.

• 23:42Declan Donnelly?

That's good. Got more time than you think, remember?

• 23:45Ant McPartlin?

  Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

• 23:45Declan Donnelly?

  Mm-hmm.

• 23:48Declan Donnelly?

Empty mouth, onto number three. That's very good.

• 23:51Ant McPartlin?

  Clicked his thing.

• 23:54Declan Donnelly?

Hard one, another hard one there.

• 23:58Declan Donnelly?

But half of it's gone. Onto the second half.

• 24:02Declan Donnelly?

Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, stop! That was a better attempt though.

• 24:15Ant McPartlin?

  That was a better attempt.

• 24:17Declan Donnelly?

How did we do, Will? So, your official result.

• 24:20Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 24:21Declan Donnelly?

  Three bananas. Congratulations.

• 24:22Ant McPartlin?

Thank you. Onto the fourth. Fourth was in hand.

• 24:25Declan Donnelly?

Fourth was in hand. But three bananas is-

• 24:28Ant McPartlin?

  That's better. That was better.

• 24:30Declan Donnelly?

Better than one. Still not quite as good as eight or nine.

• 24:32Speaker 03

No, but a 300% improvement on the first.

• 24:35Ant McPartlin?

I like you, Will. I like you. Thank you. I didn't drink any water.

• 24:39Declan Donnelly?

No, that could have been it. Especially with the hard ones. That could have helped.

• 24:43Ant McPartlin?

Well, I'm gonna practise this. I'm gonna practise, practise, practise. And I'm gonna try and break this record properly.

• 24:49Declan Donnelly?

  Would you do it again?

• 24:50Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, absolutely. Not today. It's my fault.

• 24:54Declan Donnelly?

Oh, so I can see your stars coming back.

• 24:58Declan Donnelly?

Let's give a big round of applause from Guinness World Records, Will! What's an honour as Willy-nilly! Thanks, Will!

• 25:07Ant McPartlin?

  Gee, I'm all over it.

• 25:09Declan Donnelly?

  Thanks, Will. Thanks for coming.

• 25:10Speaker 03

  Pleasure.

• 25:11Declan Donnelly?

  Cheers!

• 25:12Ant McPartlin?

Oh, I like him. I like Will.

• 25:14Declan Donnelly?

  Hard luck.

• 25:15Ant McPartlin?

Ah, I'm just gonna have a biscuit.

• 25:17Declan Donnelly?

  Whoops.

• 25:18Ant McPartlin?

  Well, thoughts?

• 25:20Declan Donnelly?

I loved that. I really enjoyed it. Did you enjoy it?

• 25:23Speaker 02

Yeah, I loved it. I cried.

• 25:26Declan Donnelly?

  Did you?

• 25:26Ant McPartlin?

  You cried?

• 25:27Declan Donnelly?

When he didn't, when he didn't get there?

• 25:28Speaker 02

  Yeah, with laughter.

• 25:29Ant McPartlin?

Oh, with laughter, yeah. Thank you. Do you mind? My first one was a bit, a bit let down, wasn't it?

• 25:34Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah.

• 25:34Ant McPartlin?

I panicked. I could feel his throat contractions.

• 25:37Declan Donnelly?

Yeah, that's what happens, doesn't it?

• 25:38Ant McPartlin?

It's a five, four, ah, ah, woo! And then the first one, the banana fell and all of that, but do you know what?

• 25:44Declan Donnelly?

I think for not having any prep, for having that sprung on you, that was a valiant effort.

• 25:49Ant McPartlin?

Thank you. I've got a little, I'm gonna show you something now, right? Which I, which I figured out on the last banana. So, you know, like if you're eating it and you just try and slowly swallow it down, you need to speed swallow. So like, if you do that, right? True, then go.

• 26:08Declan Donnelly?

That could give you indigestion though.

• 26:10Ant McPartlin?

But it's down. Look how quick that was. Watch.

• 26:15Ant McPartlin?

  It's down.

• 26:18Declan Donnelly?

  Well.

• 26:19Ant McPartlin?

  Well.

• 26:21Declan Donnelly?

  Well, he's cracked it.

• 26:24Ant McPartlin?

That was the last banana I figured that out. That was the surprise.

• 26:28Ant McPartlin?

Imagine how good I'm going to be when I practise this.

• 26:30Declan Donnelly?

  Yes.

• 26:32Ant McPartlin?

  Okay.

• 26:32Declan Donnelly?

I see, I see great times ahead.

• 26:34Ant McPartlin?

Yeah, no surprise next time, but we will know who's behind the mystery door and I'll do it. Okay?

• 26:40Declan Donnelly?

Well, when you're ready, we'll get Will back and we'll just do it. No surprises. We'll give it a bash.

• 26:45Ant McPartlin?

Okay. It has to be Will though, because I liked him.

• 26:47Declan Donnelly?

  Yeah, he's nice.

• 26:47Ant McPartlin?

  Yeah.

• 26:48Declan Donnelly?

Thanks for watching and listening. Hope you enjoyed it. Commiserations, Ant.

• 26:51Ant McPartlin?

  Thanks, Dec.

• 26:52Declan Donnelly?

But we will be back another time to try that again. We're back on Thursday with the normal pod with hanging out.

• 26:58Ant McPartlin?

  We are indeed.

• 26:59Declan Donnelly?

And we will see you then. Until then.

• 27:02Ant McPartlin?

  Bye, guys.

• 27:03Declan Donnelly?

  Take care. Bye.

• 27:03Ant McPartlin?

  Thank you. Thanks very much.

• 27:07Ant McPartlin?

  Banana?

• 27:07Declan Donnelly?

  Ah, no. They're bit hard.

• 27:18Speaker 04
