I hear so many small business owners say the exact same thing. They just never have enough time in the day. Well, I measure time differently. I've compressed, condensed, heck, I've bent time. My first day is 6:00 a.m. to noon. My second day starts at noon and goes till 6:00 p.m. And my third day, 6:00 p.m. to midnight. I now get 21 days a week. Stack that up over a month, over a year, over five years, and my life's completely different than it would have been otherwise. And if you want to win as an entrepreneur, you have to compress your time too. And you definitely can't afford to waste it. Waiting weeks on a big bank for capital? Your best bet's to work with my friends at Cardiff. They know how to compress time for entrepreneurs. They get your business approved in minutes and funded the very same day. They're America's favorite small business lender, and for good reason.

• 1:48Ed Mylett?

Welcome to the Ed Mylett Show. And I'm excited to have.

• 1:51Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:52Ed Mylett?

Uncle G, Grant Cardone, with me here today. And I've been looking forward to doing this for a very, very long time.

• 1:57Grant Cardone?

You know how I got tagged with this uncle thing, huh?

• 1:59Ed Mylett?

  I do.

• 1:59Grant Cardone?

  You know the story?

• 2:00Ed Mylett?

Yeah, well, you ought to tell everybody. Start out with that. How'd you get tagged with that?

• 2:02Grant Cardone?

Well, you know, my dad died when I was 10. First of all, always great to be with you, Ed.

• 2:06Ed Mylett?

  You too, man.

• 2:07Grant Cardone?

I really have a kin, like, real, real, very strong connection with you.

• 2:10Ed Mylett?

  We do.

• 2:11Grant Cardone?

As a, as a person, not, not just as a man, or a business, or sales, or any of this other stuff. But, and I rarely say that, by the way, so.

• 2:18Ed Mylett?

  Thank you.

• 2:19Grant Cardone?

Anyway, my dad died when I was 10, and I kept waiting for somebody to come in, you know, in my life, and my... There was an Uncle Jay, Uncle Paul, and Uncle Vincent, and, you know, none of them showed up.

• 2:29Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 2:29Grant Cardone?

And, and I'm not being, I'm not resentful because they didn't show up, because they had their own lives, they had their own stuff going on, they just never showed up. And then I found myself looking for the football coach, the black football coach, I, I thought, okay, maybe he's gonna be my uncle.

• 2:43Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 2:44Grant Cardone?

You know, I was looking for a mentor.

• 2:46Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 2:46Grant Cardone?

And even, even went to college, the CIA teacher, I had, I had a guy that was ex-CIA that taught a psychology class.

• 2:54Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 2:54Grant Cardone?

I thought, oh, maybe he's gonna do it.

• 2:56Ed Mylett?

Did you ever let any of them know you were looking for that?

• 2:59Grant Cardone?

No, not really, not really, you know, I was just, I was looking for, you know, I was looking, and I remember telling my mom, I said, "One day, I'm gonna be somebody," out of frustration. "One day, I'm gonna be somebody, and I'm gonna help other people." Anyway, I told that story, and then somebody said, "Hey, uh, Gee, will you be my uncle?"

• 3:15Ed Mylett?

  I love that, man.

• 3:16Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 3:16Ed Mylett?

  So you're the-

• 3:17Grant Cardone?

  So I'm being that uncle.

• 3:18Ed Mylett?

You've been that uncle to hundreds of thousands of people now.

• 3:21Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, trying to be.

• 3:22Ed Mylett?

What's that feel like? Like, you now, like, a bunch, a long time ago, did you, did you see yourself like, "Hey, I'm gonna be having this stewardship," or this relationship with hundreds of thousands of people, where many of them really do look at me like, "I'm their Uncle Gee."

• 3:35Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, well-

• 3:35Ed Mylett?

  What's that feel like?

• 3:36Grant Cardone?

By the time, I mean, it feels good today, you know, it's, it's a little weird, but, but what went out from 16, when I made that decision, to 25, I would, I couldn't even be my own uncle, my own, like, I hated myself.

• 3:48Ed Mylett?

  You told me that.

• 3:49Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, I mean, literally, like-

• 3:50Ed Mylett?

Is that the word, you hated yourself, you're walking around in self-hatred?

• 3:53Grant Cardone?

  Without a doubt, total self-hatred.

• 3:54Ed Mylett?

Like, I don't like what I look like, people think I'm a loser, or, I mean, something like that, or worse?

• 3:58Grant Cardone?

  I couldn't even look at myself, like, I, I-

• 4:00Ed Mylett?

  Wow, that's hard to believe.

• 4:00Grant Cardone?

  I was 130 pounds, I weigh 170 pounds today.

• 4:03Ed Mylett?

  Well, you're a big guy.

• 4:04Grant Cardone?

  So.

• 4:06Grant Cardone?

  You're so wrong.

• 4:07Ed Mylett?

Just playing, you know you look great.

• 4:08Grant Cardone?

So, so I was wearing like 140, 138.

• 4:12Ed Mylett?

  Wow.

• 4:12Grant Cardone?

Gray, okay, like, like, like gray, I had no color in my face. Bones like negative, like, you know, I was terrible dude.

• 4:22Ed Mylett?

I can't even sort of picture that.

• 4:23Grant Cardone?

Every bankrupt in every way. And I came from a good family. It's not like my dad abandoned me and mama didn't mistreat me. I didn't grow up in a 200 square foot apartment, you know? I grew up in a nice brick house, three bedrooms, five kids and, and, and, and just went south.

• 4:39Ed Mylett?

  Wow.

• 4:40Grant Cardone?

  You know?

• 4:40Ed Mylett?

  And what changed?

• 4:43Grant Cardone?

  Well, I quit doing drugs.

• 4:45Ed Mylett?

When that, when you 25, did you quit doing drugs?

• 4:46Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I, I smoked my first joint when I was 16 with my brother, my twin brother and, and Russell. And, and what was the other dude's name? Anyway, he was a rich lawyer's son and we smoked weed. I knew it was wrong the first time I did it.

• 5:01Ed Mylett?

You intuitively knew I'm doing something bad.

• 5:03Grant Cardone?

I knew, I knew, like, I, I wouldn't show anybody this. I wouldn't want my dad to see me doing this. I wouldn't want my mom to see me doing this. I was embarrassed by it, you know? And the next thing you know, I'm smoking weed every day. And the next thing you know, after that is I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm using other drugs. And the next thing you know, I know everybody thinks that that would never happen to you, but it happened to me.

• 5:23Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 5:24Grant Cardone?

And the next thing you know, I'm doing cocaine every day. Any kind of drug, actually, it wasn't people, people online will say, oh, Cardone's a cocaine addict or something. Dude, I was using pills.

• 5:33Ed Mylett?

  Wow.

• 5:34Grant Cardone?

  I was using phenobarbital's.

• 5:36Ed Mylett?

Do you know why? Do you think you're doing to alter how you felt? You felt so crappy about yourself? You're like, I'm gonna alter how I feel or numb it? Or is it just, you just started to get addicted and did it?

• 5:44Grant Cardone?

Well, well, I think, I think one day I looked up and I was addicted and they were available. And the people I was around, that's what they were doing. So it was this vicious cycle that I had become addicted. My body, basically addiction is not a disease. And it's not like, you know, it's not like you have a, I don't know, bone disease. Addiction is a choice, like you, you choose to use a drug. So they, they, I went to a treatment center, I've been through all this, so I know some other, some people are gonna tell you, oh, Cardone's crazy. There is an addiction and da, da, da, and I know, well, I'm just telling you, okay?

• 6:16Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 6:17Grant Cardone?

Like, I can have a glass of wine and don't have the propensity to drink two bottles.

• 6:21Ed Mylett?

I've seen you do it, I know that.

• 6:22Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, so, um, you know.

• 6:26Ed Mylett?

But how's that guy? You get this guy.

• 6:27Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 6:28Ed Mylett?

He quits drugs, I get all that.

• 6:29Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 6:29Ed Mylett?

But now, I mean, let's be honest, I mean, there's. You're one of the more influential businessmen in the country. In terms of your influence, your reach to people. You could argue in some cases, you're the most, right? I mean, you reach lots of people.

• 6:41Grant Cardone?

  That's nice to hear that.

• 6:42Ed Mylett?

  But it's true.

• 6:42Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 6:43Ed Mylett?

And so you're this Uncle G figure.

• 6:44Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 6:45Ed Mylett?

What's that feel like? What's it like?

• 6:48Grant Cardone?

No, it feels good. I mean, it feels good. I'm not perfect, so like, you know, I think about... There's a responsibility with it, right? So like, I cuss.

• 6:57Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 6:57Grant Cardone?

And then my wife's like, you know, you really should be a bigger role model, you know? I'll smoke a cigar, or I'm drinking a glass of wine, or, you know... Or I use my sense of humor incorrectly, right? So there's...

• 7:11Ed Mylett?

You do do that. That's true, once in a while.

• 7:13Grant Cardone?

You know, or too soon. Like, I get over tragedies really fast, and I can make jokes about them the next day.

• 7:17Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 7:18Grant Cardone?

And people are like, it's too soon, man, you can't do that.

• 7:20Ed Mylett?

But on the other hand, that's part of the allure of you, that you're not so buttoned up. You're transparent, what you see is what you get. I think also, you know, you're willing to reveal some of these flaws you have. And I think some of the guys that are out there, and I need to watch this too sometimes, they're trying to put something on all the time, you know, release an image, or stay with some sort of a persona that they have. You're just really you, like, in that fact, like, all the offices here are glass. Like, I was in your meeting this morning. These people know you, they know the real you, they know the funny you, they know the serious you, they know the flawed you, they know the stud you, right?

• 7:49Grant Cardone?

And they know I go from funny to serious, like, from zero to 60 in a half a second.

• 7:55Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 7:56Grant Cardone?

And then I can go back to funny. Like, I don't get stuck in serious. So I go back and forth really, really fast.

• 8:01Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 8:01Grant Cardone?

And that confused a lot of people. They're like, what just happened there?

• 8:05Ed Mylett?

Yeah, I do see that in you.

• 8:06Grant Cardone?

  You know, and...

• 8:07Ed Mylett?

Do you enjoy this? I mean, are you enjoying this stage of your life with the influence you have, the attention, this growing business that you have here?

• 8:15Grant Cardone?

I mean, I love helping people, you know, I like influencing people. I like countering a lot of the negative data out there, and the negative information, and the wrong information.

• 8:24Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 8:25Grant Cardone?

And, you know, you and I were talking about, you know, some of the things that people promote out there today that is shortcuts to success.

• 8:32Ed Mylett?

Right. Both you, both you and I are both, I mean, we're both guys, we both have a glass of wine, but we're both into keeping our bodies pure and clean and healthy. Neither one of us believe in any kind of drug use at all. I mean, that's something you and I both have in common. I've never smoked weed. I've never done anything like that. I just wouldn't want to put that stuff in my body.

• 8:49Grant Cardone?

Well, I tell you, if you're, if you're smoking weed, I definitely want to compete with you.

• 8:52Ed Mylett?

Yeah, right. I'm gonna kick your ass.

• 8:53Grant Cardone?

Okay, so I know I'm gonna kick your ass. If you, if you have to go wash your hands after you do something to get the smell off, I'm gonna kick, I'm gonna kill you. You're gonna lose deals. It's costing you money. It's costing you time. It's costing you energy. It slows you down.

• 9:07Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 9:07Grant Cardone?

And you're like, oh, nobody's ever died because they smoke weed. That's right. But you slow down when you smoke weed.

• 9:11Ed Mylett?

  No question about it.

• 9:12Grant Cardone?

Like, you, you, one minute you're driving 70 miles an hour, and the next minute you're driving 30. Why? Because you lost certainty. And now, what I don't want to lose is certainty and awareness, right? So, it's interesting, because after this, this weekend.

• 9:23Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 9:24Grant Cardone?

  The Mandalay Bay.

• 9:24Ed Mylett?

This weekend, when you're watching this, maybe recent, it may not be, but what happened this weekend is the Mandalay Bay shooting took place, and Grant was actually at the Mandalay Bay in the hotel during the event.

• 9:34Grant Cardone?

Yeah. And, you know, it, it was just a really eye-opening event about being aware and being prepared.

• 9:43Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 9:43Grant Cardone?

And what nobody knows, because we didn't release it, was that afternoon I spoke to an audience. What?

• 9:49Ed Mylett?

Well, you can show me that thing with a gun. You can show me that thing with a gun.

• 9:52Grant Cardone?

Oh, you used, oh, yeah, the one I sent you. I sent it to you.

• 9:54Ed Mylett?

  Yes. Wow.

• 9:55Grant Cardone?

Okay, I might include the little clip here, you know, maybe, maybe just for your audience.

• 9:59Ed Mylett?

  We should include that.

• 9:59Grant Cardone?

But I know it's gonna get misused. If I, if I put it out online, it's gonna get misused. But at 2:45 in the afternoon, we were preparing to go leave the Mandalay Bay. We were on the 20th floor. We didn't know the shooter was on the 35th floor. And that night, we had a dinner planned, a party for investors planned on the 35th floor, on the 43rd floor. So, 20, 35, 43. We'd been living with the shooter for four days.

• 10:26Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 10:26Grant Cardone?

  Okay?

• 10:27Ed Mylett?

He's been living in the same hotel as you, a couple floors above you.

• 10:30Grant Cardone?

Yeah. Everywhere I went the whole four days, you can't tell anybody this, but I was packing a gun. By the way, it's illegal to have a gun in the Mandalay Bay, in any casino in Las Vegas. So, and I know that, by the way. So, I already know that. You don't need to tell me that. So, anyway, right before we were leaving for me to go speak at 2:45 in the afternoon.

• 10:48Grant Cardone?

I did a thing on packing a gun.

• 10:51Ed Mylett?

  I know.

• 10:51Grant Cardone?

  The importance of being prepared.

• 10:53Ed Mylett?

  Being prepared.

• 10:53Grant Cardone?

  To defend yourself.

• 10:55Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 10:55Grant Cardone?

And Johnny, the camera guy that's always with me, recorded it. I sent it to you.

• 11:01Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 11:02Grant Cardone?

And I'm like, dude, this happened this afternoon.

• 11:03Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, that's bananas.

• 11:04Grant Cardone?

Okay, that was at 2:45, like eight hours later, not eight, seven hours later.

• 11:10Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 11:11Grant Cardone?

The validity of that video became true. So that's the stuff I hate about being, you know, a role model and the uncle because then people are like, you shouldn't do that, you shouldn't act like that. I'm like, you know what? I live in America, I gotta be free to express who I am.

• 11:27Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 11:28Grant Cardone?

Why not, why be who you are if you can't be who you are?

• 11:31Ed Mylett?

Well, I think all people that have become successful, especially during this time, you're kind of a product in a sense. Do you know what I mean?

• 11:38Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 11:38Ed Mylett?

And the more tangible you are, the more I can describe what you are, I think the more valuable somebody is. I don't think this is, these are the days anymore where everybody's just vanilla, you kind of blend in.

• 11:47Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 11:48Ed Mylett?

I think you need to stand out. So I don't think you stand out on purpose.

• 11:51Grant Cardone?

It cost me though, it cost me deals, it cost me gigs, it cost me, you know, somebody's gonna say, he's a loose cannon, can't use him.

• 11:57Ed Mylett?

Yeah, but I bet you it gets you more than it costs you, or you wouldn't do it, right? I think it gets you more than it costs you.

• 12:02Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I don't, I don't know. I just know if I compromise myself like I did with weed.

• 12:06Ed Mylett?

  Yes, okay.

• 12:08Grant Cardone?

If I compromise myself with customers, if I compromise myself every day with, you know, what I study or what I'm willing to research.

• 12:16Ed Mylett?

  What you believe in.

• 12:16Grant Cardone?

You know, then, then, then the next thing you know, I'm some other guy again.

• 12:19Ed Mylett?

Yeah, I think that's a massive, massive lesson for everybody to learn. I also think it's where some of, we'll talk about this in a little bit, but I think it's where some of your confidence comes from. I think you know who you are.

• 12:28Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 12:28Ed Mylett?

I think you know what you are, who you, what you stand for, what you believe in. And I think that's one of the things that makes you unique is like, I think your confidence is, is a, no, I think it's a magnet. I think it's, I think it's something that makes you attractive, that's why these people listen to you. And so I've watched you, you're one of the rare, the elite, like the world-class performers. I don't care if you're looking at football and it's Tom Brady or business is Grant Cardone. Somehow, and it's reverse, it's odd, the more they get fed, it's natural to be not quite as hungry after you eat a big meal.

• 12:55Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 12:55Ed Mylett?

Somehow you've been eating at the big plate at every Dinner of your life, the dinner of life, you're being fed, you're getting, and you're hungrier.

• 13:02Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 13:02Ed Mylett?

  You're hungrier.

• 13:03Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 13:03Ed Mylett?

You're relentless. Like, what is that? Like, where does this come from? Does it come from a vision you're trying to chase? Does it come from your self-confidence level? How do you stay hungry?

• 13:12Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 13:12Ed Mylett?

As you're winning? Because this, all people watching out there, they're achievers.

• 13:15Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 13:15Ed Mylett?

And they, you know what? They do slow down when they get to a level. They do slow down when they get some accolades. They do, they don't stay as hungry.

• 13:21Grant Cardone?

  Everybody does, man. Everybody does.

• 13:22Ed Mylett?

Why is your will to win not for sale?

• 13:24Grant Cardone?

Yeah, because, because the, the, the thirst is for potential. You know, the, the, my play is not money. It's not a bigger plane. It's not more real estate, even though I want all those things.

• 13:34Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 13:35Grant Cardone?

It is potential, is the discovery of my potential. You know, so, so I'm interested in what could I do? What can I do? How far can I go? Could I translate my material? You know, could I become, could my material live? Like, could I become immortal?

• 13:51Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 13:52Grant Cardone?

Grant Cardone. Could Grant Cardone the name? Not the body. It can't.

• 13:57Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 13:57Grant Cardone?

It's impossible. But could I, could I do something of biblical proportions?

• 14:02Ed Mylett?

You believe that you're capable of doing something huge in your life?

• 14:04Grant Cardone?

I told my sister, my sister called me one day. She, my oldest sister called and said, she's 74, and she's like, you know, she was just ragging on me. Fox said you're a business expert. It's an ongoing joke, you know? And then, then I get interviewed by CNBC on some real estate. They're calling you the real estate expert, and then they're calling you this. And she's, she's making fun of me, right? I said, and she's like, what are you up to? I said, I'm gonna do something in my lifetime that like, lives on for biblical proportions at times, thousands of years. So, so.

• 14:33Ed Mylett?

Is that why you write? Is that the only reason you write the books? They'll be there someday?

• 14:35Grant Cardone?

Totally, they'll be there, you know, but I gotta translate them now, because the Chinese can't read that book, right? The, the Spanish can't read that book, and Canadians and Australians and Americans can read it, but can I even get it out to them? So I'm interested, I, I know my technology. What, what, what I teach and what I write is unique. I sit down and look at things in life.

• 14:53Ed Mylett?

Even your verbiage is different than everybody else's. You don't use everybody else's words.

• 14:56Grant Cardone?

  I don't copy people.

• 14:57Ed Mylett?

You don't? Your verbiage is totally.

• 14:59Grant Cardone?

  I don't, I don't copy people. I call out people when I think it's bullshit.

• 15:01Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 15:02Grant Cardone?

You know, the four hour work week, I'm just telling you, ain't nobody in their freaking lifetime ever done a four. We can actually create something.

• 15:09Ed Mylett?

  Absolutely.

• 15:09Grant Cardone?

The solopreneur, it's garbage, it's bullshit, it's just popular, it's just an idea that you're gonna work for yourself.

• 15:14Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 15:15Grant Cardone?

You know, when people tell me that you're better off making forty-two grand at home than you are working for somebody else, my response is, nobody's better off making forty-two grand.

• 15:22Ed Mylett?

  Oh, God, that's ridiculous.

• 15:23Grant Cardone?

You know, when somebody says network marketing's a bad thing, I'm like, they're stupid, it's just dumb.

• 15:27Ed Mylett?

  They're stupid, right.

• 15:28Grant Cardone?

  Okay.

• 15:28Ed Mylett?

There's only thousands and thousands of people who are winning doing it.

• 15:31Grant Cardone?

Yeah, exactly, so don't be stupid, don't regurgitate stupidity.

• 15:34Ed Mylett?

Yeah, you don't accept stupid ideas just because they're accepted by the masses.

• 15:38Grant Cardone?

Yeah, and I don't take advice from quitters, and the only people that say network marketing is a bad thing

• 15:43Ed Mylett?

  Quit.

• 15:43Grant Cardone?

are people that quit it, and by the way, those that never started it were also quitting it.

• 15:48Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 15:48Grant Cardone?

The only reason they would know about it is they considered it for a second and then didn't do it, and now they're justified why they didn't.

• 15:54Ed Mylett?

So, speaking of that, on the network marketing recruiting sort of flavored thing that we're talking about, in my business, I tell people to get wide, and what in my, in my business, with getting wide, it's a little bit different, but getting wide means you're gonna have lots of agents that report directly to you, it spreads out your influence, it spreads out your risk, et cetera, et cetera, but you also talk about your, in your business, you getting wide.

• 16:14Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 16:14Ed Mylett?

What's you getting wide mean in your world? What's it mean?

• 16:17Grant Cardone?

Like, I made a mistake with money, not using money.

• 16:20Ed Mylett?

  Yep, excuse me.

• 16:20Grant Cardone?

Using, you know, becoming this guy that became wealthy and still acting like a pauper.

• 16:25Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 16:26Grant Cardone?

Okay, so, so what happened was, that, that basically shrunk me back into being

• 16:30Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 16:31Grant Cardone?

  a pauper, small.

• 16:32Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 16:33Grant Cardone?

So, so, you, look, you never commit a crime, one crime, nobody ever commits one crime. So, where, where you find one crime in life, by the way, you know, you're committing a crime on yourself when you make these mistakes. There's other crimes of a similar nature. Well, I'd also not taken my, my brand wide, okay? I, I, I, I was good in this one vertical, I mean, I was great at it, I was like, the best. And I didn't start crossing over

• 16:59Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 17:00Grant Cardone?

  to other verticals.

• 17:00Ed Mylett?

That was in the car business?

• 17:01Grant Cardone?

Yeah, exactly, because I was selling out for this money right here.

• 17:04Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 17:04Grant Cardone?

  Cause it was easy money.

• 17:05Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 17:06Grant Cardone?

And, and just like you described, the guy that's satisfied, right, they settled in, I had settled in in this vertical.

• 17:11Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 17:12Grant Cardone?

And so, and, and look, when you, when you're around a bunch of people that are in a vertical

• 17:16Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 17:16Grant Cardone?

that have also settled, that are trapped in some narrow band.

• 17:20Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 17:20Grant Cardone?

They're not gonna tell you to go this way.

• 17:22Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 17:22Grant Cardone?

And go out here, they're gonna tell you, oh, it's hard, it's almost impossible, nobody's ever done it, dah, dah, dah, you're gonna lose your audience.

• 17:27Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 17:27Grant Cardone?

Which you're gonna probably lose some audience, it is very difficult, probably one of the most difficult things I've done is go this way. Like it was really, really difficult because I didn't want to lose this audience.

• 17:36Ed Mylett?

And you did lose a little of it.

• 17:38Grant Cardone?

  Sure I did.

• 17:38Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 17:39Grant Cardone?

These people were pissed off, man. When they saw me actually making moves.

• 17:42Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 17:42Grant Cardone?

And succeeding, people were like, oh, my competitors took advantage of it. See, he's interested in other stuff, not just this.

• 17:50Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 17:51Grant Cardone?

So they tried, they tried to take advantage of it. Because I'm spending energy over here, I lose a little bit of something here.

• 17:58Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 17:59Grant Cardone?

  So.

• 17:59Ed Mylett?

How do you do that, man? Like you, and I got a couple of specific things after that, but like, like you talk about you, you were able to be bold about what you believe in and your faith.

• 18:06Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 18:06Ed Mylett?

You take some shots for that, right? You could take some shots for having the gun thing at Mandalay, right? You took some shots and you knew that by going to spreading your, your, your width of your influence, right? And I think, and it's just interesting, I might, in, in today's world, it seems to me, the thing that holds most people back is their worry and fear about criticism and what other people are going to think about them. I mean, it's just, they're obsessed with it. I think social media's been good, but the bad part is, how many likes did I get? What are they going to think about this? So people thinking I'm happy, you know, am I going to get criticism? How do you, do you just not care? Or do you care and you do it anyway?

• 18:39Grant Cardone?

  I, I care and I don't look.

• 18:41Ed Mylett?

  You don't look?

• 18:42Grant Cardone?

Well, you know what I'm saying? Like we, we were talking earlier and, and I was showing you this little thing I do. It's one of these little rituals I do. You talk about rituals and, and this little thing. Cause I was passing across this, this article.

• 18:53Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 18:53Grant Cardone?

That, that I'd shown, Ed, that I'd posted.

• 18:56Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 18:57Grant Cardone?

And I said, Ed, anytime I look at anything while I'm with you, having a conversation and tell my people to do this.

• 19:01Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 19:01Grant Cardone?

Grab something, post it in another place, push it some other place. So we multi-purpose everything.

• 19:06Ed Mylett?

You do, man. You're after that stuff all the time.

• 19:09Grant Cardone?

Yeah. So you'll see me doing a lot of different things in a lot of different spaces, pieces and parts of it, little clips of videos, audio, you know? So we multi-purpose because I'm trying to go all these different directions and I don't know how people want to consume data.

• 19:21Ed Mylett?

  Okay, so.

• 19:22Grant Cardone?

So the point, back to this is, I don't really look at. Whether you liked it or not.

• 19:27Ed Mylett?

It's not on your radar screen.

• 19:28Grant Cardone?

Yeah, now, I do have staff that tells me to take stuff down. In fact, they don't tell me anymore. They just take it down.

• 19:33Ed Mylett?

  They do.

• 19:33Grant Cardone?

So Sheri kind of runs control, kind of hurricane Irma pickup.

• 19:39Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 19:39Grant Cardone?

So does my wife. So they're like, they know I'm a hurricane.

• 19:42Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 19:43Grant Cardone?

They know I'm going to destroy stuff.

• 19:44Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 19:45Grant Cardone?

I'm going to tear trees out and I'm going to damage stuff. I am a hurricane.

• 19:48Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 19:48Grant Cardone?

I'm a hurricane that never stops.

• 19:49Ed Mylett?

I think every great entrepreneur is a bit of a hurricane.

• 19:51Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 19:52Ed Mylett?

And I think the ones that struggle are trying to keep everything clean, neat, tidy, and organized. Being an entrepreneur is messy.

• 19:56Grant Cardone?

Yeah, and this is the guy I don't want to be. I don't want to be the successful uncle that went into hiding now.

• 20:04Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, me either.

• 20:05Grant Cardone?

Or the billionaire that there's no access.

• 20:08Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 20:09Grant Cardone?

  You know?

• 20:09Ed Mylett?

  You want to spread it.

• 20:10Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I don't know Mark Cuban's wife. I've never seen her.

• 20:13Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, that's a good point.

• 20:14Grant Cardone?

You know, I've never seen Elon Musk's wife. I seen one interview with her, okay? Warren's wife. I want my wife to be out there.

• 20:20Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 20:20Grant Cardone?

I want you guys to know my kids. I want you to see the mistakes I make in my life. I want to see behind the curtain.

• 20:27Ed Mylett?

Yeah, I think they're not following an image. I think they're actually following you. I think they're actually following you through your life, and I think you're helping lead them too. I think it inspires them. I think that's a huge... There's a couple of big differences. Both you and I have actually done something in our lives. When we're preaching to people out there in the world, we're actually coming from a place of experience and some real value. We're not making our bio up as we go along, which is most people, I think, out there in this space. I think most people in this space are just literally blogging and talking about crap they've actually never done in their lives. And somehow it becomes scripture to people that follow them, whereas you and I actually have real businesses, real companies, real net worths. But let's go through some rapid fire stuff.

• 21:01Grant Cardone?

Yeah, but let me just go back to it. There was a time in my life, like, you know, the person that's been most dissatisfied with me is me.

• 21:08Ed Mylett?

  Of course, me too.

• 21:09Grant Cardone?

So like when I was a sales guy, I was a really good sales guy, and then I wanted to be a sales guru. I wanted to be able to teach other people sales.

• 21:15Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 21:15Grant Cardone?

And then I learned how to do that.

• 21:16Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 21:17Grant Cardone?

And I was making millions of dollars a year doing that.

• 21:19Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 21:20Grant Cardone?

But I was not a businessman yet.

• 21:22Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 21:22Grant Cardone?

And it was, it killed me. And it killed me that I wasn't a businessman. I was a speaker.

• 21:28Ed Mylett?

  Mm-hmm.

• 21:29Grant Cardone?

I was a speaker, okay? Writing a book would not have solved that for me, okay? So I started a second business with a partner. He started, he exceeded what I was doing in that speaking business. He was the businessman, I was the partner.

• 21:43Ed Mylett?

  You still weren't.

• 21:44Grant Cardone?

I still wasn't a businessman. I started the real estate business and we had, I don't know, four or 500 units. I was an investor. I still wasn't running a business. So literally it has been like four or five of these before, I was like, okay, now I'm a businessman.

• 21:57Ed Mylett?

  Wow.

• 21:58Grant Cardone?

So it's literally, literally like in the last seven or eight, maybe 10 years. That I really felt, okay, now I'm a legitimate, for the first time in my career.

• 22:05Ed Mylett?

Was there something that changed, a catalyst, was there just, it was just steps, just process?

• 22:08Grant Cardone?

Well, it's part of what we talked about earlier, lifting off the disabilities like that were covering me up to play a small game.

• 22:15Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 22:15Grant Cardone?

To be a sales guy, to be an author, to be a speaker. These were really small, tiny games.

• 22:20Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 22:20Grant Cardone?

You know, to be just the father.

• 22:22Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 22:23Grant Cardone?

  You know, to be.

• 22:23Ed Mylett?

Don't you love those guys? Hey, I'm a good dad.

• 22:25Grant Cardone?

  Oh, yeah, yeah.

• 22:25Ed Mylett?

Like, that's a ticket into, I mean, you're supposed to be a good dad.

• 22:27Grant Cardone?

Happy's a label, by the way.

• 22:29Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 22:29Grant Cardone?

Happy's a label, just like ADD.

• 22:31Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 22:32Grant Cardone?

  Okay, they're both made up.

• 22:33Ed Mylett?

  They're both made up.

• 22:34Grant Cardone?

So, so, um, these are limitations, because I could be happy.

• 22:39Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 22:39Grant Cardone?

You know, I could be attention deficit disorder, I could have it, I could have it for a second, because, but, but, but I can have total attention in this interview. So, maybe I, maybe I have an attention deficit, because nobody got my attention.

• 22:52Ed Mylett?

Right. Both of us don't believe in most of these labels, or if any of them out there. I, rapid fire stuff, I've observed about you, so, people are watching this.

• 23:00Grant Cardone?

God does a good interview right here, man. Ed Mylett, the EM Show. EM Squared, hey, if you think we should call this EM Squared, like the Einstein thing?

• 23:08Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 23:09Grant Cardone?

That should be the name of the show.

• 23:10Ed Mylett?

I know, he feels strongly about that, so y'all can get back to me, you can message me here, let me know if you like that, EM Squared. Be the new Einstein. So, a couple of things here, a few things. So, I've watched you, I'm getting to know you better, I consider you a friend now, I enjoy our time, it flies by. You know, I mean that, I mean that, like, I've told you before, you're making me want to do better and be better. Just your example, just your being, does that for me. But there's some things inside you, I've seen that, I think I do well, but being around you, I want to.

• 23:36Grant Cardone?

Do you know how many people are gonna say, there's no way I can study this dude, based on some of the stuff they've heard already?

• 23:41Ed Mylett?

About you? I don't really care. They're crazy not to study you.

• 23:44Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 23:45Ed Mylett?

Well, here's what's nuts about that.

• 23:47Grant Cardone?

I mean, it's so sad though, man, you know, like, I'll, cause I'll study anybody. I don't care if you're a Muslim. I don't care if you're white, black.

• 23:55Ed Mylett?

  Me either.

• 23:56Grant Cardone?

Male, female. Show me the results, man. That's all I care about. Just show me what works.

• 24:00Ed Mylett?

These are probably people who are ultimately aren't going to become successful. They're looking for reasons not to win instead of reasons to win. Usually the people that are magnetized to you and I are people who are looking for reasons to win. That's who most of you are that are listening to this. You're trying to find a freaking way to win.

• 24:13Grant Cardone?

That's one of my favorite quotes, by the way.

• 24:14Ed Mylett?

  What's that?

• 24:15Grant Cardone?

Are you looking for reasons to do this or not?

• 24:16Ed Mylett?

Right. That's the whole bottom line. The bottom line is if you're looking for a reason to win, you're following the right two people, right? We get, we come at it from a different perspectives, but one thing, those of you who listen to this, and Grant's a Catholic as well, but as a Christian, I'm not even have to think that the Lord only puts Christians in my life to teach me things. That'd be obscene. That'd be ridiculous. The Lord's gonna bring all kinds of different people into my life to teach me, to alter me, to influence me. He's using me as his tool, and of course, some of these people are gonna be catalysts for that. So that's insane not to think that.

• 24:43Grant Cardone?

And man, my whole life, you know, I have prayed, like, show me the way, man.

• 24:48Ed Mylett?

  I know you do.

• 24:48Grant Cardone?

Show me the way. Show me how to get my money right. Show me how to get my business right. Show me how to treat people right. Show me, one of the big things that was missing in my life was a wife. Show me how to pick the right wife.

• 25:00Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, you did.

• 25:00Grant Cardone?

You know, how, show me how to become a good husband. And to be a good husband, now that I got the right wife. Show me how to be a good dad. I was terrified of becoming a dad.

• 25:09Ed Mylett?

  Were you?

• 25:10Grant Cardone?

  Oh, terrified.

• 25:11Ed Mylett?

Yeah, well, you think, you have this, I have it too, but you have this relentless desire to be the better version of you, to be the next expression of you, to find out where you could be. That's what, that's the real answer. You're excited about finding out who you could be.

• 25:26Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 25:26Ed Mylett?

And I am too. I'm like passionate about that. I'm like, I'm optimistic about it. I'm anxious to see the next version of me. I think you're unbelievable with that. But I want to ask you, some things I've observed, so just want to go through these with you a little bit. Okay. You keep promises you make to yourself for the most part? In other words, if you tell yourself you're gonna do something, do you keep those promises?

• 25:44Grant Cardone?

  Not always.

• 25:45Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 25:45Grant Cardone?

You know, so, so like workouts, I've been really slack, as you can tell on workouts lately.

• 25:50Ed Mylett?

I think you look great. I've told you, this guy's 59 years old.

• 25:52Grant Cardone?

  Thank you.

• 25:53Ed Mylett?

I mean, I got here this morning.

• 25:54Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 25:55Ed Mylett?

And there's a security guard in the parking lot. I said, I gotta find Cardone's offices. The first thing the guy said to me, he goes, oh, I know where he is. And we start to walk. He goes, when you see him, you're not gonna believe this. I thought he was 43 years old. He's 59 years old. I said, I already knew that. I said, you're kidding me. That's the first thing the guy told me about you. Is how young you look. So you're doing something right with that.

• 26:12Grant Cardone?

  Thank you, thank you.

• 26:13Ed Mylett?

But how from a business perspective, do you keep the promises that you make to yourself?

• 26:16Grant Cardone?

  Uh, uh, uh, always.

• 26:17Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 26:18Grant Cardone?

Always. I might, I might be a little long on them.

• 26:20Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 26:20Grant Cardone?

You know, it might take me a little longer to get to it.

• 26:22Ed Mylett?

And that, by the way, that's an observation I've made about you.

• 26:24Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 26:25Ed Mylett?

He has this thing, no, I'm telling you the truth, especially when you're around me a little bit. You have total optimum self-confidence in your business capacity. I watch you with you. You know what you're doing. You know you're skilled. You're confident. You're beyond confident. You're certain. The more certain person wins, right? I think that's because you've kept promises you make to yourself. I think the number one requirement in being a confident person is that you start by keep, when I meet someone who lacks self-confidence in an area, in an area, I'll tell myself, this is someone who just simply doesn't keep the promises they make to themselves in that area.

• 26:55Grant Cardone?

  I like that.

• 26:55Ed Mylett?

And that's, and the reverse is true in your body.

• 26:57Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 26:58Ed Mylett?

You and I have talked a lot about that before. Like, you look great, but your confidence level and your fitness and all that stuff isn't the same as it is in business. It's probably because you missed some workouts once in a while. I'm serious.

• 27:06Grant Cardone?

Yeah, no, I do, I do, and.

• 27:08Ed Mylett?

No, it's an area that we talk about.

• 27:09Grant Cardone?

But it's also like, yeah, okay, so.

• 27:11Ed Mylett?

  No, but it's true.

• 27:12Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 27:13Ed Mylett?

It's true. No, go ahead. What were you gonna say?

• 27:14Grant Cardone?

Well, yeah, yeah, I, yeah, I've never, I've just never.

• 27:17Ed Mylett?

  It's not a priority.

• 27:18Grant Cardone?

  Exactly.

• 27:18Ed Mylett?

You told me that when we.

• 27:19Grant Cardone?

I've never invested much time in my body.

• 27:21Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, you told me that.

• 27:22Grant Cardone?

Like, like, I know some people, like, like, like literally when I get ready, I don't, I don't even look. I'll go three and four days without looking at myself.

• 27:29Ed Mylett?

  You told me that.

• 27:30Grant Cardone?

So, so, um, and, and part of that, you know.

• 27:35Grant Cardone?

It's freedom. Like I'm not locked up in this identity of being 5'8" and 170 pounds. I don't think I'm a body.

• 27:43Ed Mylett?

  Right, I know that.

• 27:44Grant Cardone?

I am not a physical unit.

• 27:46Ed Mylett?

That's right. The difference with me and you is that, so first off, I know that you think that, and I know that's not a problem. This is really good. So I'm gonna tell you something that I think I have, okay? Part of my confidence in business is that I think my body, I think nowadays, more and more business people train like athletes, and more and more athletes train like business people. LeBron James is not the same guy that Julius Irving was, right? LeBron James is a businessman, like Jay-Z says.

• 28:12Grant Cardone?

  He's a business.

• 28:12Ed Mylett?

He's a businessman, right? And so more of these guys, Tom Brady has a book selling book out right now, right? He's a businessman. And so more athletes think like businessmen.

• 28:21Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, I agree.

• 28:21Ed Mylett?

And I think, and by the way, you are super fit, but I think one of the advantages for people, if they can keep their body fit, not big or muscular, but high energy and healthy. I watch what you eat, you do eat healthy, you do eat clean, we just did right now. You give me that little terrible thing you made me eat.

• 28:37Grant Cardone?

I put good fuel in my car, but I'll tell you, today, I still don't put premium.

• 28:42Ed Mylett?

  I know you don't.

• 28:42Grant Cardone?

I don't put the best gas in my car, because I think it's a scam. But I just put whatever.

• 28:47Ed Mylett?

  Me either.

• 28:47Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I put the best gas in there to get me back and forth, because it's the least car anyway. I'm gonna flip it and turn it in and say bye-bye.

• 28:53Ed Mylett?

But I think your business self-confidence comes from doing that. There's another thing I observed about you, I want to ask you about it. You're aggressive. You are aggressive. What that means is even if you have a plan.

• 29:02Grant Cardone?

  I'm probably the most aggressive.

• 29:04Ed Mylett?

  I agree.

• 29:05Grant Cardone?

  Businessperson I know.

• 29:06Ed Mylett?

Me too. I think you're the most aggressive businessperson that I've met. And the other thing you'll do is in the moment, you'll jump on something. Like if it's not planned and it could get something done, it could close, it could grow something, you'll do it. Talk about that for a minute. How important is aggression, being offensive, jumping on the moment?

• 29:19Grant Cardone?

I walk into every environment looking for a deal to ink. You know, I'm just telling you, if you need to be, if you need to know, or when you're with me, I'm looking for a deal.

• 29:31Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 29:31Grant Cardone?

I don't care if it was my mama. My mama, my mom died about six, seven years, eight years ago, I guess. But if she came back, I mean, literally, if I had 30 minutes with her, I'd spend 28 minutes, you know, just reminiscing, and two minutes trying to close her for something.

• 29:46Ed Mylett?

  Something.

• 29:47Grant Cardone?

Shit, I'd be like, there gotta be something you got.

• 29:49Ed Mylett?

Yeah, and you lose interest quick if that's not there. You're out of.

• 29:53Grant Cardone?

Well. I don't lose interest quick, but I definitely try to set up something for later. You know, so, so, you know, I, I think, I believe in my product. So like, I'm always looking to how do I insert the product?

• 30:06Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 30:06Grant Cardone?

I'm way beyond now, anybody calling me a sales guy. He's always selling, he's, he's always marketing, he's always promoting. Yeah, you can say all those things about me. I already know that.

• 30:18Ed Mylett?

  Right, of course you are.

• 30:19Grant Cardone?

Okay, let me say it for you.

• 30:20Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 30:20Grant Cardone?

I'm always selling, I'm always promoting, I'm always marketing. Okay, so you're not, tell me something about myself I don't know, because I already know.

• 30:27Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, and those are positives.

• 30:28Grant Cardone?

Yeah, and you're saying it about me because you don't do it yourself.

• 30:30Ed Mylett?

That's correct. Yeah, that's like we said earlier today, if you had the cure for cancer, you wouldn't feel like a salesman.

• 30:34Grant Cardone?

  I'd tell everybody.

• 30:35Ed Mylett?

You'd tell literally everybody. So if you feel like you're, what you're doing benefits somebody, it improves the quality of their life.

• 30:40Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 30:40Ed Mylett?

You're, you're at fault for not spreading that.

• 30:42Grant Cardone?

And shame on you, if you're selling a product you don't feel good about.

• 30:45Ed Mylett?

Yeah, you're in the wrong place, exactly.

• 30:47Grant Cardone?

Shame on, shame on you if you're spending your time hating on something you've already given up on.

• 30:51Ed Mylett?

That, number one thing is, is you and I, you interviewed me earlier and I was saying, I've never really competed with other people. I'm not concerned with other people doing that. It's wasted energy that steals from my focus.

• 31:01Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 31:01Ed Mylett?

I'm worried about what I'm doing, my team's doing, my company's doing. Anything outside of that is a, someone is trying to rob me of my elite, hyper-focused state. I'm not doing that crap. I don't care what you're doing. I don't care if you're doing it wrong. I don't care where you're doing it.

• 31:13Grant Cardone?

Well, I do when I'm going too slow.

• 31:15Ed Mylett?

Of course, you've got time to think.

• 31:16Grant Cardone?

You said something to me this morning about your frequency.

• 31:18Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 31:19Grant Cardone?

You know, I, like, the vibration rate.

• 31:21Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 31:21Grant Cardone?

But man, as long as I hit my right frequency up there, like, when I'm

• 31:26Ed Mylett?

  Me too.

• 31:26Grant Cardone?

Like, I don't get, I don't, I don't get caught up in all this stuff.

• 31:30Ed Mylett?

I told you, I told you, one of the things I've observed about you that they're gonna think I'm weird for is that I think you vibrate at a super-high frequency. Meaning your energy level, your capacity to move things and influence things is at a high, high level.

• 31:41Grant Cardone?

Yeah, and I use no tricks to get there. The thing that I, I don't tell people is, I'm, you know, and I think some people probably made the observation, is I'm not, one, I'm probably not a nice person.

• 31:54Grant Cardone?

You know? Because I don't think about being nice.

• 31:57Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 31:57Grant Cardone?

I'm definitely not a positive person. Like, people tend to say, oh, he's Mr. Positive.

• 32:03Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 32:04Grant Cardone?

I've heard that from Ryan this week, that I'm Mr. Positive. I saw a post this week, how do you stay so positive? I'm not trying to stay positive. I'm definitely not a motivational guy, even though people say I am.

• 32:15Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 32:15Grant Cardone?

  I, I am a, I am a

• 32:19Grant Cardone?

  I need deals.

• 32:21Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 32:21Grant Cardone?

I suffer from boredom, not depression. I hate boredom. I hate inactivity.

• 32:27Ed Mylett?

  Can you sit still?

• 32:28Grant Cardone?

I'll tell you another thing that I don't tell people. Like, I start doubting myself if I don't have deals going on.

• 32:33Ed Mylett?

  Me too.

• 32:34Grant Cardone?

I doubt myself. I start thinking, oh my God, did I lose it? This has been a long time. I've had this around for years. Like, is something gonna happen? Have I lost it? Is my moment up?

• 32:45Ed Mylett?

  Me too.

• 32:46Grant Cardone?

  Right?

• 32:46Ed Mylett?

That's true. You have that too?

• 32:47Grant Cardone?

So, and it's not an insecurity. It's fear of boredom. I don't want to be bored. You know? And throughout my life, that was called ADD, ADHD, bipolar,

• 33:01Grant Cardone?

manic depressive. It was a fear of boredom.

• 33:04Ed Mylett?

Really? What do you mean by you're not motivational though? Because you motivate all kinds of people. You mean you're not trying to be motivational?

• 33:10Grant Cardone?

  I'm not motivational.

• 33:11Ed Mylett?

What do you mean? You're not trying to be?

• 33:13Grant Cardone?

I'm not trying to motivate anyone. I am, you know, I don't think people like me. Like I said that in the meeting this morning. I don't think people like Grant. I think people like my data, my information, because it's got substance.

• 33:26Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 33:27Grant Cardone?

  And, and, and...

• 33:28Ed Mylett?

  I don't, I just tell you...

• 33:30Grant Cardone?

Am I motivational? Am I inspirational? Do people find inspiration or motivation by what I do? That's never what I'm trying to do. I am never trying to motivate.

• 33:36Ed Mylett?

You're not intentionally motivational. But there's a big difference.

• 33:39Grant Cardone?

  Les Brown's motivational.

• 33:40Ed Mylett?

  What's that?

• 33:41Grant Cardone?

Les Brown's motivational. Tony Robbins is motivational. Tim Story is like spiritually motivational.

• 33:49Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 33:49Grant Cardone?

Michael Burke's motivational. A lot of guys I'm having at the 10x Growth Conference. But I also have some guys at that conference, they don't know anything about motivation.

• 33:57Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 33:57Grant Cardone?

  They know about P&Ls.

• 33:59Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 33:59Grant Cardone?

They know how to make money. They know how to keep money. They know how to stack money. They know how to multiply money.

• 34:03Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 34:03Grant Cardone?

  You know?

• 34:04Ed Mylett?

You got this little road dog quality to you that I love. It's just this, you're about getting stuff done. You're about deals. You're about closing. You're about, you know, but you are. You're not a wolf either. You're like a woof.

• 34:11Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 34:12Ed Mylett?

You've got a little bit of that. And I have a lot of it, actually. But I think maybe this is a distinction without a difference. It could be. I think there's a huge difference between motivational and inspirational.

• 34:22Grant Cardone?

  Uh huh.

• 34:22Ed Mylett?

So motivational is a guy getting up and giving you a pep talk. You know, I'm this, you know, you can be the best. That's motivational to me. You're not that. In fact, I think you almost despise that like I do. It's almost cheesy stuff. Like, let's just get some stuff done here, right?

• 34:34Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 34:34Ed Mylett?

Inspirational is different. Do you know what the difference is?

• 34:37Grant Cardone?

Yeah, yeah, no, I don't really know what it is.

• 34:39Ed Mylett?

  Well, here's what I think-

• 34:39Grant Cardone?

I'm just thinking about when I did that gig for you in Vegas.

• 34:42Ed Mylett?

And it was incredibly inspirational. It wasn't motivational. Motivational plays to people's cheesy motives, which you don't do. Inspirational is different. Inspirational to me is, the root of that word is in spirit. That's why you're massively inspirational. Because your spirit's so pure. You're intentionally yourself all the time. That's really inspirational, man. I don't think you should shortchange that. Because you're transparent. Your flaws are out there, the good, the bad, the ugly. When you're funny, when, you said earlier, when I say something I shouldn't say, or I step over the line. To me, that's inspirational. Like, who you are, what you do, that's inspirational. You get people in the, it's like, you ever watch a movie, or you watch a sporting event? I know you're this way, too. People think we're these hard guys. I'm the first dude to cry in a movie that's super emotional. Or, watch a sporting event and someone overcomes something and wins.

• 35:27Grant Cardone?

Did you see the movie, uh, what's that movie? Armageddon?

• 35:31Ed Mylett?

  No, I haven't seen it.

• 35:31Grant Cardone?

  Armageddon, man, Bruce Willis?

• 35:33Ed Mylett?

  Haven't seen it.

• 35:34Grant Cardone?

Armageddon, everybody saw Armageddon. Who else was in Armageddon? Uh, Ben Affleck. Ben Affleck?

• 35:39Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 35:40Grant Cardone?

They, they, they went and, they, they-

• 35:42Ed Mylett?

Seen it. I did see it.

• 35:43Grant Cardone?

  Of course you did.

• 35:43Ed Mylett?

  I don't remember titles.

• 35:44Grant Cardone?

  Did you cry?

• 35:45Ed Mylett?

  I did.

• 35:46Grant Cardone?

I've seen that movie nineteen times.

• 35:47Ed Mylett?

  Cry every time?

• 35:48Grant Cardone?

I call Elaine on the phone, "Eh, nah, nah." She's like, "Did you see Armageddon in the movie?"

• 35:53Ed Mylett?

  I see.

• 35:55Grant Cardone?

So, that's another thing people don't know about me, okay? Like, like, like, I, I, you could, a movie can rip me apart.

• 36:00Ed Mylett?

Me too, that's how I am.

• 36:01Grant Cardone?

Rip me apart. What was the movie about the dog? Uh, ma, what was the name of the dog? He died in the movie.

• 36:08Ed Mylett?

  What?

• 36:09Grant Cardone?

  No, not Benji.

• 36:10Ed Mylett?

  Lassie?

• 36:11Grant Cardone?

No, not Lassie. Elena knows the name, maybe you can call Elena and ask her. It would kill me. I was crying for two hours after the movie.

• 36:18Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 36:19Grant Cardone?

  Walking in Nordstrom's.

• 36:20Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, I'm that way too.

• 36:21Grant Cardone?

Saw a dog that was similar to the one in the movie.

• 36:23Ed Mylett?

  Started losing it?

• 36:24Grant Cardone?

  She's, Elena's like, "No!"

• 36:25Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, no, I believe that.

• 36:27Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 36:27Ed Mylett?

And I, I, I'm that way too. I'm, uh, people, but that's not motivational, that's inspirational. Because it touched your spirit. There's a difference, man. You can't even control it.

• 36:35Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 36:35Ed Mylett?

No, I'm telling you, that's what you do with people. That's what I try to do with people. Don't discount that about yourself. Your example, who you are, your energy, it's infectious.

• 36:42Grant Cardone?

But like, that gig I did with you guys, okay? It, it, that big gig.

• 36:45Ed Mylett?

  For WFG?

• 36:46Grant Cardone?

Yeah, WFG. You know, all I did was go out and look at the front row.

• 36:50Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 36:50Grant Cardone?

And I'm like, the guys with the special seats.

• 36:52Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 36:53Grant Cardone?

And I'm like, how do you guys live on what you make?

• 36:56Ed Mylett?

I loved when you said that. And they loved when you said that.

• 36:57Grant Cardone?

I don't think that was inspirational though, do you?

• 36:59Ed Mylett?

I do, because it touched their spirit. In other words, the same reason that moved them is the same reason you cry with the dogs. The same reason if someone does something in sports, someone wins, makes a big play. It shakes me more than it does the average person. Here's why. Because I think-

• 37:12Grant Cardone?

Marley. Marley was the name of the movie.

• 37:14Ed Mylett?

Never seen it, probably won't. But, listen, here's the difference. What it is, is that you see something in them-

• 37:20Grant Cardone?

Don't even watch that movie. I'm telling you, it'll wreck you.

• 37:22Ed Mylett?

I'm trying to make a point to you here.

• 37:23Grant Cardone?

  Okay, please.

• 37:24Ed Mylett?

This is big. You're gonna learn something right now. You don't learn a lot.

• 37:26Grant Cardone?

  I do learn a lot.

• 37:27Ed Mylett?

Well, right now, you're about to. Here's what it is-

• 37:29Grant Cardone?

  But I learned to know.

• 37:30Ed Mylett?

Well, you're gonna know something. I'm gonna teach you something you'll know forever. The difference is, listen.

• 37:35Grant Cardone?

  This guy-

• 37:35Ed Mylett?

You see something in them that you know exists within yourself.

• 37:40Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 37:40Ed Mylett?

And you see it in them, and it makes you emotional, because maybe you haven't had the courage to play that way.

• 37:44Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 37:45Ed Mylett?

That when you see someone winning a sport, or when you see someone in a movie. I remember at the end of every damn Field of Dreams, you ever seen Field of Dreams? Kevin Costner at the end of the movie, he's playing catch with his dad.

• 37:54Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 37:55Ed Mylett?

I mean, I'm telling you, it's 15, 20 years later. I'm watching that thing on HBO, I got tears pouring down my face. Dad, can we have a catch? It wrecks me, right? Because I want to have that with my son.

• 38:04Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 38:05Ed Mylett?

And so, what happens is, you see things, that's inspirational. So when you came out and did our meeting?

• 38:08Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 38:09Ed Mylett?

You were you, and people want to be transparent. People want to be successful. People want to be a guy who appears to not have people- Doesn't really obsess with what people think about him all the time. There's elements of you that people that watch this, it inspires them, like, hey, this guy's winning on his own terms. He's willing to be vulnerable, he's willing to be funny, he's willing to be goofy, he's willing to be awkward.

• 38:29Grant Cardone?

I'll tell you another little secret, okay? Like, as a public figure and a speaker. Because what you said to me just really reminded me of something.

• 38:37Ed Mylett?

  You learned something, it's good.

• 38:39Grant Cardone?

  Huh?

• 38:39Ed Mylett?

  You learned something, it's good.

• 38:40Grant Cardone?

No, I know something. And, and big difference, by the way.

• 38:46Grant Cardone?

For years, from 29 to probably 45, I spoke on a stage-

• 38:52Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 38:52Grant Cardone?

About a certain topic. It was sales. And that presentation became very rote.

• 38:58Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 39:00Grant Cardone?

It wasn't even rehearsed. I was so far past rehearsed. It was like-

• 39:04Ed Mylett?

  I watch guys like that.

• 39:06Grant Cardone?

Same story, same moment, I mean, like- And today, like now, I'm 59, so for the last 15 years, I've refused.

• 39:14Ed Mylett?

  Me too.

• 39:15Grant Cardone?

To do that presentation. Which is that rote, kinda automatic.

• 39:19Ed Mylett?

  Hate it.

• 39:20Grant Cardone?

And so today, when I speak, I have a tremendous amount of fear when I go out on a stage.

• 39:25Ed Mylett?

  Cause you don't know.

• 39:26Grant Cardone?

Because you asked me when I was over there, hey, do you know what you're talking about today? No, I don't.

• 39:29Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 39:30Grant Cardone?

But I'll, I'll, I'll, I kinda know what I wanna get done, but I don't know what I'm gonna say.

• 39:33Ed Mylett?

Yeah. I think that that's the, I do that way too. I've tried not to, it's interesting that you say that. I try not to ever give the same talk twice. That's not, and it's same with you. It's not that there won't be a story I repeat here and there, but the overall message is gonna be different every single time. And the reason is, is that I wanna be me. The real inspirational speakers, real inspirational leaders in business, they're transparent, they're themselves. If I give the same talk I gave last year, then I'm the same guy. So hopefully I have a different version, a different perspective.

• 39:58Grant Cardone?

But I would tell the audience, everybody listening, don't try this in sales.

• 40:01Ed Mylett?

Oh no, in sales it's gonna be rehearsed.

• 40:02Grant Cardone?

Don't try this on a quarterly report. Don't try this, like, there is a time where you should practice, you should rehearse, you could even read off of a teleprompter. Like if I was President of the United States, I would definitely read off a teleprompter.

• 40:13Ed Mylett?

Absolutely. Me and him, what you and I are working on right now is that exact thing. So that we are working on the actual words, cause the trans, the repetitiveness, the actual words to overcome the objections, the actual right way to present that's formatted. Because really what happens is, if you can get that stuff down, then it allows you to be an artist. But winning is science and art, right? The art part's what you're talking about. The science is how to overcome objections, how to close, how to make phone calls. And so they gotta master the science and the art. So that's one big difference that you, that most people would not know about you would be that. You don't think you're always friendly. You don't think you're always motivational.

• 40:45Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, no, I, I don't think I'm a positive person. I don't, I don't think I'm a, like, like I'm not, I don't think about being positive or negative in a day. I think about getting something done.

• 40:53Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, do you think?

• 40:54Grant Cardone?

So, so when Captain Ryan says, you're so positive, Grant, I'm like, no, I don't even think about that. Like, like.

• 41:01Grant Cardone?

I don't even believe a positive attitude is the most important thing.

• 41:04Ed Mylett?

  Neither do I.

• 41:05Grant Cardone?

So I hear it all the time, like, positive attitude, a positive attitude will take you everywhere. Attitude is altitude? No, not really.

• 41:11Ed Mylett?

No, I don't buy that either. I think actually getting crap done is the most important thing.

• 41:15Grant Cardone?

Totally, because a positive attitude is like a fight plan.

• 41:18Ed Mylett?

  Correct.

• 41:18Grant Cardone?

Once you get punched in the face, the whole plan is out the window.

• 41:22Ed Mylett?

Are you like this? I was on your show earlier today and I said to you that I'm sometimes deceptive with myself. In the reverse way.

• 41:28Grant Cardone?

Yeah, well, I stay broke all the time, so I'm deceptive, I'm deceptive with myself with money.

• 41:33Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, me too.

• 41:34Grant Cardone?

So I get rid of money.

• 41:35Ed Mylett?

  So do I.

• 41:35Grant Cardone?

I just put it in different things than you do.

• 41:37Ed Mylett?

I know, we do, we've done it differently.

• 41:38Grant Cardone?

You buy boats and I buy apartment buildings.

• 41:40Ed Mylett?

Well, I bought a lot of real estate too.

• 41:42Grant Cardone?

Yeah, no, you have done good with that stuff.

• 41:44Ed Mylett?

Yeah, I've done good, not as well as you've done.

• 41:45Grant Cardone?

  You should sell it all.

• 41:46Ed Mylett?

I know, you're just telling me that to sell it all. That's a conversation probably I don't want all of them to hear.

• 41:49Grant Cardone?

Sell it all. Tell it, hey, post in comments, Ed, Grant said sell it all, Uncle G knows what he's talking about.

• 41:55Ed Mylett?

Yeah, okay, we'll get back to you on that. Okay, so one more thing on.

• 41:58Grant Cardone?

I'd even sell your main property.

• 42:01Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, I know.

• 42:01Grant Cardone?

Or, or I would, I would sell it to the LLC, rent it back from yourself if you love it that much.

• 42:06Ed Mylett?

  It's held in the LLC.

• 42:07Grant Cardone?

Okay, you're renting it from yourself?

• 42:09Ed Mylett?

I can't get into that right now.

• 42:10Grant Cardone?

And get all the cash out?

• 42:11Ed Mylett?

  I can't, I can't get into that right now.

• 42:13Grant Cardone?

Get all the cash out, it's a non-taxable event.

• 42:15Ed Mylett?

Thank you, I appreciate that. I'll talk to my CPA about it.

• 42:17Grant Cardone?

You don't need to, you're talking to me.

• 42:19Ed Mylett?

Okay, I know, I'm listening to you. I told you I'm listening to you.

• 42:21Grant Cardone?

Dump all the money out, you basically suck all the money out.

• 42:23Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 42:24Grant Cardone?

  All of it.

• 42:24Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 42:25Grant Cardone?

  Okay.

• 42:26Ed Mylett?

The Bible says, "Oh, no man, nothing."

• 42:27Grant Cardone?

That's right, you won't. You're gonna be owing you something.

• 42:29Ed Mylett?

  Okay, that's different.

• 42:30Grant Cardone?

Okay. And, and by the way, the Bible was written like 70 years after Jesus, like proclaimed the data.

• 42:36Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 42:36Grant Cardone?

By 140 men that weren't even there.

• 42:39Ed Mylett?

  We're gonna edit this.

• 42:39Grant Cardone?

So there could be some incorrect information there.

• 42:41Ed Mylett?

You're going back again, you're doing it again. Scratch that, he didn't just say that right there.

• 42:44Grant Cardone?

I mean, if you're Muslim, you have zero debt for anything.

• 42:49Ed Mylett?

Stop it, we're editing that. Alright, so let me ask you another question. I don't want to worry.

• 42:53Grant Cardone?

  We're gonna edit that?

• 42:54Ed Mylett?

  Yes, I'm gonna edit that.

• 42:55Grant Cardone?

  We're gonna add that.

• 42:56Ed Mylett?

  We don't want that.

• 42:57Grant Cardone?

  Add that.

• 42:58Ed Mylett?

That part we don't want in there, okay.

• 42:59Grant Cardone?

  We're gonna add my letter.

• 43:00Ed Mylett?

No, let's talk for a second about social media.

• 43:02Grant Cardone?

  Please.

• 43:03Ed Mylett?

Okay, and this is, this is your reach, so how important is it? If you're a businessman, you're a businesswoman, you're an entrepreneur out there.

• 43:09Grant Cardone?

How important is it to be known? If I don't know you, nothing matters. Like, no product is bought until somebody knows what it is. No product is purchased or picked up until somebody can see it. So, like, you are a product, right? So if nobody knows you, nobody can flow you. Like, nobody can flow you, nobody can see you, nobody can... Like, money moves to attention. Whoever's get... whatever product gets the most attention in the store is not the best quality. Best quality never wins. The product, the company, the individual that gets the most attention will end up with the most money.

• 43:46Ed Mylett?

Do you think social media is like the new media? Like, you create your own media?

• 43:50Grant Cardone?

Absolutely, it's TV. It's TV available for everyone. Everyone can be a broadcaster, everyone can be a celebrity, everyone... Now you got... now the trick is to figure out how to use the tool rather than be used.

• 44:04Ed Mylett?

  What do you mean?

• 44:04Grant Cardone?

Because most people are being used by it.

• 44:06Ed Mylett?

  In what sense?

• 44:07Grant Cardone?

Because, you know, I get 118,000 views on a post.

• 44:16Grant Cardone?

You know, what was the post? Was it valuable? You know, I do a corn dog on Instagram. You know, I'm a little corn dog. I'll get more views on hot dog. I think it's hot dog.

• 44:27Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 44:28Grant Cardone?

You're being used if you're watching my hot dog Instagrams. As opposed to, I deliver one minute, three things you can do to make money that you have to know. I'll get 8,000 views on that and I'll get 30,000 views on hot dog.

• 44:43Ed Mylett?

  That is amazing, isn't it?

• 44:43Grant Cardone?

So I know for sure there's 22,000 spectators in there.

• 44:46Ed Mylett?

It's interesting. When I post stuff if it involves work, it gets less likes and views.

• 44:49Grant Cardone?

  Totally.

• 44:50Ed Mylett?

Isn't that interesting? But if it's like dreamland, la-la land, you know...

• 44:53Grant Cardone?

  You riding the boat?

• 44:54Ed Mylett?

Yeah, oh, they love that stuff. But if it comes down to you need to work, this is three things you need to do.

• 44:57Grant Cardone?

Half of them complain about you showing off your boat.

• 44:59Ed Mylett?

  Oh, of course, yeah.

• 45:00Grant Cardone?

Still watching it. You're being used by social media, right? So you want to use social media, not be used by it.

• 45:07Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 45:08Grant Cardone?

Which means, like, if you watch me, I don't have a favorite. I don't have a favorite social medium. I don't have one that I'm like, that's the one I like right now. You know, I use them all.

• 45:16Ed Mylett?

  You do.

• 45:16Grant Cardone?

Like I bang all of them. I bang back and forth.

• 45:19Ed Mylett?

  Instagram.

• 45:19Grant Cardone?

And I could do a, I could do a lot better than I did.

• 45:22Ed Mylett?

Yeah. Oh, I think you, I think you do wonderful, but I agree with you. You could do better. Leadership, real quick.

• 45:26Grant Cardone?

Yeah, yeah. I never talk about it.

• 45:28Ed Mylett?

So, I watched you with your team today.

• 45:30Grant Cardone?

I never talk about it, though.

• 45:31Ed Mylett?

I know you don't. It's, one of the things about your environment that I liked is that it's, I think most great environments, great leaders, is caught, not taught. And I don't mean that as a slogan. I literally mean you just feel it. If there's a system, you catch it, you don't teach it, right? But, your example is one thing I want to talk about. Okay? I know you don't talk about your example, setting an example. I know that's one of the things that, I don't really do that a whole lot either. But, I have this thing, I think if people, the reason your example's so important, you can't really lead me if I think you need me.

• 45:59Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 46:00Ed Mylett?

Right? And I, and I, there's nothing that I've seen in this place since I've been here, I don't think people, I think people here think you love them, respect them, admire them, want them to do well, but I don't think they think that you need them. And I see people in business all the time that get a little team together, and then they start to kind of milk that group, instead of lead the group. I'm not talking about talking about leading, or talking about culture. That's all BS. You and I share a view about that. But, do you, and I know you don't talk about it, and you said you don't think, but do you think about your example, though? Do you, do you, are you conscious that what you're doing has an impact on other people?

• 46:30Grant Cardone?

I think about when I don't come. Like, like, we have a meeting every morning at 9:06. More, more than thinking about what I do while I'm here, I think what happens when I don't come. So, it really bugs me like, oh.

• 46:41Ed Mylett?

  It does.

• 46:42Grant Cardone?

I didn't, I didn't show up for the 9:06 meeting. You know, like, I feel like I'm obligated.

• 46:47Ed Mylett?

But you don't not show because you don't feel like it. You don't show because you're not in town.

• 46:50Grant Cardone?

No, no, it's, it's when I'm in town that, that maybe, maybe I just got off the road and I slept in.

• 46:54Ed Mylett?

  You got it, okay.

• 46:55Grant Cardone?

You know, or I'm in a different time zone or something. I just feel a little bit bad about that. But, I don't think about leadership. I think about push.

• 47:04Ed Mylett?

  What's that mean?

• 47:05Grant Cardone?

I think about, like, right now, when you brought up the whole leadership thing, I want to walk out of this interview right now, and I want to go into my internet room and push.

• 47:12Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 47:12Grant Cardone?

Because I know they're, they're, I can feel, without seeing what the numbers are, I can feel, I don't know if this is true or not, that, that we've, like, nah.

• 47:21Ed Mylett?

  You feel it.

• 47:21Grant Cardone?

I can feel, the statistics of the organization, I can feel.

• 47:25Ed Mylett?

Why do you have glass everywhere?

• 47:26Grant Cardone?

Uh, because we're transparent. You know, this is even more blocked in than I like because I'm transparent. My last office had glass everywhere, like there was no, there was open doors everywhere. Every room is open. Notice that room, that big room in there?

• 47:40Ed Mylett?

  Mm-hmm.

• 47:41Grant Cardone?

  Wide open.

• 47:41Ed Mylett?

  I noticed that.

• 47:42Grant Cardone?

That room back there, wide open.

• 47:43Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 47:43Grant Cardone?

Cafeteria wide open, accounting wide open, like I would have no walls.

• 47:47Ed Mylett?

Hmm, if you could have it your way.

• 47:48Grant Cardone?

Yeah, yeah, because I don't want people hiding. My, my office doors open all the time.

• 47:52Ed Mylett?

  I know.

• 47:54Grant Cardone?

I'm an open book, man. I got nothing. Anything you want to know about me, you know. Like, I get audited by the IRS, first thing I do is put it on YouTube.

• 48:04Ed Mylett?

  You really?

• 48:05Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 48:06Ed Mylett?

  I, I-

• 48:07Grant Cardone?

I, I had the FAA, the FAA sent me a letter saying I was on a watch list when I was still flying commercial. And I, I immediately put it on TV.

• 48:16Ed Mylett?

  Wow.

• 48:17Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 48:18Ed Mylett?

You were on a watch list?

• 48:18Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 48:19Ed Mylett?

  Why?

• 48:19Grant Cardone?

For, for using, um, uh, technology during a flight and I caught a bird strike. You don't know that?

• 48:28Ed Mylett?

  No.

• 48:28Grant Cardone?

You don't know that story? So I was on a flight out of JFK and we got hit by birds in the right engine on a 777.

• 48:34Ed Mylett?

  Oh, boy.

• 48:34Grant Cardone?

We were about 200 yards up.

• 48:36Ed Mylett?

  Mm-hmm.

• 48:36Grant Cardone?

So we were just on liftoff.

• 48:37Ed Mylett?

  That's bad time.

• 48:38Grant Cardone?

Yeah, flock of birds. These are big, these are big giant, these are big black birds.

• 48:43Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 48:43Grant Cardone?

You know, uh, which are common in that area.

• 48:46Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 48:46Grant Cardone?

And, um, hit a flock, um, stopped the engine, heard them going through, through the engine, the right en- You don't know this story?

• 48:52Ed Mylett?

  No.

• 48:53Grant Cardone?

Heard them going through the right engine. I'm the only person that's ever recorded a bird strike on the history of the planet.

• 48:59Ed Mylett?

That's something to be known for.

• 49:00Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 49:01Ed Mylett?

  That's big time. Congratulations.

• 49:04Grant Cardone?

So, so, so I didn't know I caught it. I didn't know I caught it because as soon as we hit, the engine jammed up. I could smell, it smelled like a barbecue chicken. Smelled like, in the cabin of the plane, it smelled like we were barbecuing chicken and I thought I was home. Right? And, and, uh, the, the, the plane lurches to the right, we have to land, okay? So we go back, land at JFK and I look at my app, because I dropped my iPad when it happened because I got scared.

• 49:30Ed Mylett?

  Mm-hmm.

• 49:30Grant Cardone?

I dropped the iPad and I, and when I opened it up, I, I had caught the bird strike.

• 49:35Ed Mylett?

  That's amazing.

• 49:36Grant Cardone?

  So-

• 49:37Ed Mylett?

You're the only one in the history of the world who's ever done that.

• 49:39Grant Cardone?

  Well, that's right.

• 49:40Ed Mylett?

  That's big time, man.

• 49:41Grant Cardone?

That's true. So, so what do I do now? What do I, I need to tell the world?

• 49:43Ed Mylett?

  Of course.

• 49:44Grant Cardone?

  Is social media important?

• 49:45Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 49:45Grant Cardone?

So I go on YouTube and say, "I just caught the bird strike." It was all over the news, right? That this plane from JFK had an emergency landing.

• 49:54Ed Mylett?

Did they use your footage on the news?

• 49:55Grant Cardone?

The next thing you know, CBS, ABC, CNN, Fox, Fox News, TMZ, I mean, everybody. We could not use our phones because so many people were calling. They're like, "Hey, would you do an exclusive interview with us?" "Sure, I will." CBS, "Will you do an exclusive interview?" "Of course." CNN, "Will you do an exclusive?" "Yes." "I'd do an exclusive interview." Exclusive means only them.

• 50:16Ed Mylett?

  Bird strike.

• 50:17Grant Cardone?

With like 13 different networks. CBS the next day does the exclusive interview for the 12th time.

• 50:25Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 50:25Grant Cardone?

And says, "Well, we have one question, Mr. Cardone. Like, why were you using an iPad?"

• 50:32Ed Mylett?

  Stop it!

• 50:34Grant Cardone?

"When you were given the announcement to turn off your electronics." And I said, "Because it's a bullshit law." The law's bullshit. So, what happened was, the FAA saw it.

• 50:46Ed Mylett?

  No chance.

• 50:47Grant Cardone?

Okay? The FAA sends a letter to our house, maybe five weeks later, saying, "You're on a watch list for using electronics."

• 50:53Ed Mylett?

  Oh my goodness.

• 50:54Grant Cardone?

  So what did I do?

• 50:54Ed Mylett?

  You put that out there.

• 50:56Grant Cardone?

Exactly. Called my friends at Fox News and said, "Look, the FAA has said to me today that the airlines are irresponsible for not taking away your phones, your tablets, and your computers."

• 51:09Ed Mylett?

  Oh my goodness.

• 51:10Grant Cardone?

Because I get on every plane and have my computers on. By the way, that's one of the reasons I bought the plane.

• 51:15Ed Mylett?

That is one of the reasons you're on a watch list.

• 51:17Grant Cardone?

And, when you get on a plane, not that you fly commercial anymore, but when any of you that are listening get on a plane and they don't tell you to turn off your phone, I'm the reason why.

• 51:27Ed Mylett?

  That is so awesome, man.

• 51:28Grant Cardone?

Because the law was undone because I went public with it.

• 51:31Ed Mylett?

  Wow. That's history-making.

• 51:33Grant Cardone?

Yeah, and the FAA came back later and said, "It's no longer law," and they took me off the watch list.

• 51:36Ed Mylett?

So you're not on the watch list anymore?

• 51:37Grant Cardone?

I'm not on the watch list, and I don't fly with them anymore.

• 51:40Ed Mylett?

  That is amazing, man.

• 51:41Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, it is amazing.

• 51:42Ed Mylett?

That is something nobody would know about you.

• 51:43Grant Cardone?

You didn't know that, huh? You didn't hear that story?

• 51:44Ed Mylett?

I had no idea about you.

• 51:45Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 51:46Ed Mylett?

  All right, real quick.

• 51:47Grant Cardone?

The only person in the history of the world that caught a bird strike.

• 51:50Ed Mylett?

That's incredible. That's once in a lifetime. That's that sort of, um... That's that like kind of infamous thing that you'll have live on after you're gone. That you were talking about earlier.

• 51:58Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I hope I'm known for something.

• 51:59Ed Mylett?

So Grandpa Cardone caught the first bird strike in the history of the FFA.

• 52:03Grant Cardone?

  I got a bird, I got a bird.

• 52:05Ed Mylett?

That is incredible, man. Closing, real quick.

• 52:08Grant Cardone?

Yeah, yeah. Well, you're not closing.

• 52:10Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, no, no.

• 52:10Grant Cardone?

  Because we already did that.

• 52:11Ed Mylett?

  No, no, no. Closing.

• 52:12Grant Cardone?

Oh, oh, closing. We're talking about closing.

• 52:14Ed Mylett?

  Let's cut that out.

• 52:14Grant Cardone?

  That's fine, that's fine.

• 52:15Ed Mylett?

  Cut that out.

• 52:16Grant Cardone?

I thought we were closing already.

• 52:17Ed Mylett?

  Johnny, cut that out.

• 52:18Grant Cardone?

  Okay, Johnny.

• 52:18Ed Mylett?

Right. How important is it to be, uh, to close?

• 52:22Grant Cardone?

Nothing matters if you don't close. Like, if you don't close, everything prior to this is just like, like, why'd you waste everybody's time, including your own?

• 52:31Ed Mylett?

Do you teach that to your people? I mean, is that, do you have an environment of closing?

• 52:34Grant Cardone?

Dude, we don't, we close in a greeting.

• 52:37Ed Mylett?

  What's that mean?

• 52:38Grant Cardone?

It means, hey, you guys, do you need me to show you this? Or you, do you have enough information to make a decision?

• 52:46Ed Mylett?

  See, I think-

• 52:46Grant Cardone?

So, so if somebody's with me, if somebody's agreed, you know, one thing I want to do is, like, you're gonna, you know, like, like, let's say you're, you come to my, my, my, one of my real estate investment dinners.

• 52:58Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 52:59Grant Cardone?

I'm gonna ask everybody in the room, hey, if, if you guys, does anybody in the room know enough already

• 53:05Grant Cardone?

to, to invest in the fund?

• 53:06Ed Mylett?

  Right from the get-go.

• 53:07Grant Cardone?

Well, yeah, why, why would I do the whole presentation?

• 53:09Ed Mylett?

So you've started to close from the very beginning?

• 53:11Grant Cardone?

Why would I, why, why would I not flow you power because you're certain?

• 53:16Ed Mylett?

  No, I'm going to-

• 53:16Grant Cardone?

You walked in the room with a check for 500 in your heart.

• 53:19Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 53:19Grant Cardone?

In your mind, you're like, I'm gonna do 500, I'm gonna do a million.

• 53:22Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 53:23Grant Cardone?

Okay, so why would I put you through the whole presentation when you've already decided?

• 53:26Ed Mylett?

The reason I ask you this is because I want people that are watching this, because we can't get into this in the totality here.

• 53:32Grant Cardone?

But, but we could create programs for this.

• 53:33Ed Mylett?

Well, that's what I'm gonna say. So, first off, my organization's working on a custom program with you that we're gonna do that involves some of these things. But if you're out there and you're involved in anything, which is everything, by the way, that requires sales or influence or persuasion, you are crazy not to get involved with this guy's technology and the, and the training systems he have. I, I've become more and more familiar, even today, pouring into some of this stuff. This is the premier, I'm saying this in your presence, not only is he the premier bird strike capture in, in probably the world, I think he's probably number one at that, but I'm-

• 54:03Grant Cardone?

  Number one and only one.

• 54:04Ed Mylett?

  It's just unbelievable.

• 54:05Grant Cardone?

I am the Mayweather of bird strikes.

• 54:07Ed Mylett?

  A bird strike.

• 54:07Grant Cardone?

I am the Conor McGregor of bird strikes, okay, so like-

• 54:10Ed Mylett?

  But-

• 54:10Grant Cardone?

I am the Shamu of bird strikes.

• 54:12Ed Mylett?

  You're the whale, baby.

• 54:13Grant Cardone?

  I mean, Shamu's dead now.

• 54:14Ed Mylett?

  I don't know.

• 54:15Grant Cardone?

  Did Shamu die?

• 54:16Ed Mylett?

  I don't know.

• 54:17Grant Cardone?

I am the Armageddon of bird strikes.

• 54:18Ed Mylett?

There you go, the Armageddon of bird strikes. But I gotta tell you, he's the Armageddon of sales. And I'm telling you, this is the best stuff I've seen on persuasion, on influence, on managing yourself, on closing, on overcoming objections. And if you're in anything that involves that, which is about everything for those of you that are listening to this, get involved with this stuff. Where would they go first website-wise? What's the best place to go to?

• 54:37Grant Cardone?

You would go to probably Cardone University or CardoneU.com to see what we do there.

• 54:42Ed Mylett?

Yeah, this is not normal endorsement by me. I'm telling you, this stuff would immediately make a difference for you from the second you...

• 54:49Grant Cardone?

You know, I mean, just in my defense, okay? Not of me personally, but of what we've created is, I struggled with sales so much because I was trying to do a lot of stuff that I was being taught that's very, very ancient.

• 55:03Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 55:03Grant Cardone?

And I'm not talking about Brian Tracy old.

• 55:05Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 55:06Grant Cardone?

You know, or Tom Hopkins. Both of those guys are my friends, by the way.

• 55:09Ed Mylett?

  I know.

• 55:10Grant Cardone?

And I'm just talking about age-wise. They were delivering content from the 50s, 60s, 70s, right? Their content was actually from hundreds of years before that.

• 55:20Ed Mylett?

  That's right.

• 55:21Grant Cardone?

Ask questions, get control, spend more time with people. These are ancient, bypassed, done philosophies. You know, if you're sitting down with somebody that's looking at WFG as a husband and wife, they've already been on the internet to check WFG.

• 55:38Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, right.

• 55:39Grant Cardone?

Or whatever that is, whatever it is you're doing.

• 55:41Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 55:42Grant Cardone?

  Any real client prospect.

• 55:44Ed Mylett?

People aren't stupid. They know what you're there to do, so do it.

• 55:46Grant Cardone?

Well, yeah, I mean, the internet, the internet like has made it available. So I would walk in that meeting, I'm not looking to spend longer with them. I'm looking to spend less time with qualified people.

• 55:55Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 55:55Grant Cardone?

Go in, show them what they need, close the deal.

• 55:58Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 55:58Grant Cardone?

We did a call today, me and you did a call today. We weren't on that call very long.

• 56:01Ed Mylett?

  No, probably.

• 56:01Grant Cardone?

I kept saying, "Let me ask a question, let me ask a question, let me ask a question." So he finally got him on the phone. You know, Tom Hopkins taught me, hey, whoever asks questions controls the sale.

• 56:12Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 56:13Grant Cardone?

  It's not even true.

• 56:13Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, who controls it?

• 56:15Grant Cardone?

  Whoever gets answers.

• 56:16Ed Mylett?

  Whoever gets answers, that's good.

• 56:18Grant Cardone?

Most people ask questions, never get them answered.

• 56:20Ed Mylett?

Yeah, well, that, gosh, that's so true, by the way.

• 56:22Grant Cardone?

Never get them answered. You guys ask questions, "What's your budget? How much do you have?" You walk away, never get an answer.

• 56:26Ed Mylett?

Yeah, you gotta get an answer. If you're gonna ask questions, you gotta get an answer.

• 56:28Grant Cardone?

  Always.

• 56:29Ed Mylett?

See, what happens is, is that the principles of closing and stuff...

• 56:31Grant Cardone?

Be willing to blow a sale. Even be willing to blow the sale if it requires you to ask again.

• 56:37Ed Mylett?

  I love that.

• 56:38Grant Cardone?

Because if you don't get the answer, you will not make the sale.

• 56:40Ed Mylett?

Here's what I watched today. I watched modern strategies. The principles stay the same. The strategies change. They'll be different, by the way, in 10 more years.

• 56:47Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 56:48Ed Mylett?

And it's also, his content is digestible in bite-sized increments that you can get in this day and age and understand it. So, I want to strongly encourage you, if you're in anything that involves sales or persuasion, which is all of you, this is, he doesn't even need the endorsement. He's got plenty of other businesses. I'm telling you that it would make an immediate impact for you. And that doesn't just include that stuff, but any of the books that he's written, especially the ones that are recent, at least for me. These are books, this 10x stuff, his obsession stuff, is so flipping good. It's like, it's rare that I read stuff.

• 57:18Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 57:18Ed Mylett?

Because I've had some experience at winning and some success, that I read it and I immediately either A, learn something, or B, I agree 100% based on my experience. It confirms for me, right? It's like when we met, we started talking, it was like, we immediately connected because we believe the same stuff on so many different levels, right? And so that's why I want to encourage you. Get his books and get involved with Cardone University. Go see it. You're going to make a huge shift. I mean, there's, there's nothing else I could recommend you do than go do that, that would make the most immediate impact. You will not ever again suffer for not knowing what to do. It'll just be your willingness to go do it. So get in a relationship with this guy. It's going to be huge for you. And by the way, I, I will, now that we're hanging out a little bit, I'm going to get you to even go 1 millimeter further by being a little bit more fit, by being in a better state. I'm going to help you do that.

• 58:01Grant Cardone?

I just need more Pilates, dude.

• 58:02Ed Mylett?

You don't, he is a Pilates expert, but I'm...

• 58:05Grant Cardone?

No, no, I need a real expert Pilates person. Because when you do it, buddy, you light a core up so hot.

• 58:11Ed Mylett?

Well, I thought you didn't need it.

• 58:13Grant Cardone?

No, no. When I get a really good, because I, I don't really know how to do it myself.

• 58:17Ed Mylett?

Right. You don't even really do Pilates either. You just bought the Leotards. Right. You got the Leotards, but you don't really know how to Pilates.

• 58:23Grant Cardone?

  Probably not.

• 58:24Ed Mylett?

Nobody knows. What does that even mean? He's a grown, this is a grown man talking Pilates right in front of me. By the way, just so you know, your fitness and all that stuff would give you even another gear.

• 58:32Grant Cardone?

No, you're right. You're right. I totally agree.

• 58:34Ed Mylett?

Well, I don't even wonder whether I'm right about that. I know that I'm right about that.

• 58:36Grant Cardone?

And I know you're right. So, there's nothing to argue about.

• 58:38Ed Mylett?

One other thing, but in that, you have this capacity, and we're running, we don't have too much more time.

• 58:42Grant Cardone?

We've got as much time as you want. It's your podcast.

• 58:44Ed Mylett?

Your capacity level is freakish. Okay, so, so...

• 58:48Grant Cardone?

  No, what?

• 58:49Ed Mylett?

Your capacity level. So how much you can get done in a given day, right? So, talk about that for a second. Do you think about that, like consciously, or are you just, do you just go?

• 58:58Grant Cardone?

  I walked in here today.

• 58:59Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 58:59Grant Cardone?

After being gone four or five days. You know, I didn't plan on the Mandalay Bay shooting.

• 59:05Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 59:06Grant Cardone?

Like, you guys that are doing to-do list and time management, you're trying the time management thing.

• 59:10Ed Mylett?

Talk about that, how you don't manage time, you expand it.

• 59:12Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, I don't, I don't, I don't manage time. I mean, I, I create time.

• 59:16Ed Mylett?

  What's that mean?

• 59:17Grant Cardone?

It means, it means, uh, I'm not managing, uh, ammo. I'm not managing money. Time is not, time is not some, um, it's all made up, man. Time is made up. Twenty, the 24 hours is made up.

• 59:33Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 59:34Grant Cardone?

The 60-minute clock is made up, okay? The sundial is made up. Like, like, you know, I don't have to go to sleep when the sun goes down. And I don't have to wake up when it comes up.

• 59:45Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 59:45Grant Cardone?

So it's all made up. Like, like, like, I want the ability to operate when I want, how I want. You know, so, so I create time. I decide when Mandalay Bay shut down, and there's a shooter, and 59 people get killed, and 527 people get hurt, and a, a hotel room with 5,700 rooms has to be searched, cleared, checked, double time, FBI, ATF, uh, Metro Police. 5,700 rooms, biggest hotel in America, and all the public spaces.

• 1:00:17Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:18Grant Cardone?

And the casinos, and the jackpots, and the executive and employee lounges. People are like, "How long you think we're gonna be down here?" "We're gonna get out of here at 8:30." I just did the math. I did 5,700 rooms, three minutes each, 2,700 policemen, we're gonna be here 12 hours.

• 1:00:33Ed Mylett?

  You knew it.

• 1:00:34Grant Cardone?

Okay, so, so what am I gonna do now?

• 1:00:38Grant Cardone?

What am I gonna do with the time I have?

• 1:00:39Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:40Grant Cardone?

Right? You know what I did? I took a nap.

• 1:00:42Ed Mylett?

  Took a nap.

• 1:00:43Grant Cardone?

200 people in a cafeteria, the thing had calmed down, the shooter was down, he was dead. And, and, and the first thing my wife observed is you and Kevin Harrington, Kevin was down in the room with me. He's like, "You and Kevin Harrington are the first two people sleeping."

• 1:00:55Ed Mylett?

You told me that. Yeah, you're like, "I need to get some sleep, cuz I know..."

• 1:00:57Grant Cardone?

So the two executives... Go to sleep, get some rest, because we know what, there's gonna be another day. So I want to wake up the next day rested, ready to roll again.

• 1:01:06Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 1:01:06Grant Cardone?

So it's not how do you manage time, but how do you maximize whatever time you have? And people often ask me, well, how much do you sleep? And I said, don't worry about it.

• 1:01:16Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:16Grant Cardone?

I worry about what I do the other 16 hours. I sleep eight hours a day.

• 1:01:21Ed Mylett?

I know you do. You told me that before. You get a full six. I don't get a full eight, but I understand what you mean. I max out every single second of the day.

• 1:01:27Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:28Ed Mylett?

And that's not some tagline either. You do really embody maxing out the call.

• 1:01:32Grant Cardone?

Yeah, so when I came in here today, where I started, I did not know, I did not have a calendar. Katie keeps the calendar.

• 1:01:38Ed Mylett?

I know you didn't. You even know a couple of meetings you had.

• 1:01:40Grant Cardone?

Yeah, look, I wasn't even sure what day he was coming in here. So I'm like, yesterday, today, whatever. So when I came in today, literally, I didn't know about that meeting we had today.

• 1:01:49Ed Mylett?

I know you didn't. So she just. Not some other one with me, some other one that we had.

• 1:01:52Grant Cardone?

We had a guest in here today, an NFL guy.

• 1:01:56Grant Cardone?

Anyway, so yeah, I just, I do whatever I have to do.

• 1:01:59Ed Mylett?

Yeah, you do. You react well in the moment. You got your plan. You do, you write your goals down in the morning and night?

• 1:02:03Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:02:04Ed Mylett?

You do. But then you improvise all day.

• 1:02:05Grant Cardone?

I write them down in the morning, I write them down at night, and I write them when I lose.

• 1:02:08Ed Mylett?

What do you mean by you write them when you lose?

• 1:02:09Grant Cardone?

Anytime I lose or I'm disappointed, I just go back to writing my goals, looking at my goals. Where am I going as opposed to what just happened?

• 1:02:16Ed Mylett?

  You really?

• 1:02:17Grant Cardone?

  Yeah. So anytime I fail.

• 1:02:19Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 1:02:19Grant Cardone?

I lost this deal in Jacksonville, it was a thousand units, and I missed the deal. And I was like, goddamn, what did I do wrong? You know, I'm beating myself up about it. And I wanted this deal, and I started, you know, hammering on my staff. Ryan Seko's in there, I'm like, what am I gonna do? You know, you should have told me. And then I'm like, okay, wait a minute, where are you going to?

• 1:02:36Ed Mylett?

You went back to where you're going.

• 1:02:37Grant Cardone?

Oh, I'm going to 40,000 units.

• 1:02:38Ed Mylett?

  Because that's rearview stuff.

• 1:02:39Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, exactly. It's already over.

• 1:02:41Ed Mylett?

  Got you.

• 1:02:41Grant Cardone?

So I'm going to 40,000 units, so what does a thousand matter?

• 1:02:44Ed Mylett?

Right, right. But if you're not focused on the big thing, these little things get magnified.

• 1:02:49Grant Cardone?

And then, by the way, I picked up the phone and called the guy and said, hey, if that deal falls out, I want it.

• 1:02:52Ed Mylett?

You did something. You took action.

• 1:02:53Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:02:54Ed Mylett?

Yeah, so talk about this for a second, real quick. So I heard you say one time, you said, the big don't eat the small, the fast eat the slow.

• 1:03:01Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:03:01Ed Mylett?

  What's that mean?

• 1:03:02Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I think we're in a time where it's not about big, it's about fast. How fast can you go?

• 1:03:06Ed Mylett?

  What's an application of that?

• 1:03:08Grant Cardone?

Like, you know, getting over stuff fast, you know, making calls fast, getting to people fast.

• 1:03:15Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:16Grant Cardone?

You know, doing stuff fast, not having ideas and putting them down, executing them. So I get more done in shorter periods of time because I just do more.

• 1:03:24Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:25Grant Cardone?

And the more I do, the more I have time to do. So, speed, I don't think a lot. You know, I do a lot. I probably outdo. Gary Vaynerchuk said, "Man, who you think over..." Somebody asked, "Hey, who outworks who because we're supposedly both..." I said, "Dude, I don't know how much he works."

• 1:03:44Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, right, right.

• 1:03:45Grant Cardone?

But I tell you what, I work fast.

• 1:03:46Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, you do work fast.

• 1:03:48Grant Cardone?

  You know.

• 1:03:48Ed Mylett?

You do a lot of things at one time in one day.

• 1:03:51Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:51Ed Mylett?

I've watched you do that. You also get to the point of what I would call like winning. You get to the close. You get to the point where it's actually productive.

• 1:03:57Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:58Ed Mylett?

In other words, you're not stupid busy. People get stupid busy where they're just doing a bunch of crap that's not productive. I even watch your face. Once you've sort of identified, "What I'm doing right now is not real productive anymore." You kind of end it.

• 1:04:08Grant Cardone?

  Uh huh.

• 1:04:09Ed Mylett?

  Your face...

• 1:04:09Grant Cardone?

  Well, you're very observant.

• 1:04:11Ed Mylett?

I am, but even if that's what I meant by disinterested. Once this thing's not productive, you're not interested in it anymore. You're on to, "Let's be productive." Do you sense that about yourself too?

• 1:04:18Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, oh, totally.

• 1:04:19Ed Mylett?

  Yeah, I think...

• 1:04:20Grant Cardone?

Most of the time, I feel bad about it, by the way, you know, because...

• 1:04:23Ed Mylett?

  You can be rude.

• 1:04:24Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, I hate small talk.

• 1:04:26Ed Mylett?

  You do, yeah.

• 1:04:27Grant Cardone?

  I'm gonna hate it, dude.

• 1:04:27Ed Mylett?

  I know you do.

• 1:04:28Grant Cardone?

I hate it, you know. Like, I'm working on this big deal in Houston, Texas, and I think I'm gonna have to go on a hunting trip to get it.

• 1:04:34Ed Mylett?

And you don't want to do that.

• 1:04:35Grant Cardone?

Dude, I don't even know if I can.

• 1:04:36Ed Mylett?

You just can't stomach the small talk stuff.

• 1:04:38Grant Cardone?

I hate it, man. I hate it. I hate thinking we're gonna have to go to the duck blinds, drink the beer, hang out, listen to the stories. I mean, it drives me nuts.

• 1:04:48Ed Mylett?

But will you do it if it's required to get the deal done?

• 1:04:51Grant Cardone?

  Oh, I don't know. Probably.

• 1:04:53Ed Mylett?

  You probably will.

• 1:04:54Grant Cardone?

  Probably will.

• 1:04:55Ed Mylett?

I could tell you that you will from being around you.

• 1:04:56Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, so...

• 1:04:58Ed Mylett?

You'll do whatever is required of you to get a deal done, I think.

• 1:05:00Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:01Ed Mylett?

  All right.

• 1:05:01Grant Cardone?

It's just some things I'm just not good at.

• 1:05:03Ed Mylett?

  A couple more things.

• 1:05:03Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:04Ed Mylett?

A couple more things. So, you want what? In other words, why are you... Why does all this exist? You got this TV studio, all this content, you got 50-something employees here.

• 1:05:13Grant Cardone?

This studio is a... It exists because of a resentment.

• 1:05:19Grant Cardone?

So this was created because I walked out of Fox News one day.

• 1:05:22Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 1:05:23Grant Cardone?

And I was doing the Neil Cabuto Show and it lasted three or four minutes. So I drove over there, drove back, took 30 minutes to get there. I go sit down, they get me there 25 minutes early, I'm waiting. We go in there, I do three or four minutes, it's a great interview.

• 1:05:41Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:42Grant Cardone?

And I come home and I'm just like, that sucked, that's ridiculous. I drove all the way down there, I'm more important than this, you know, this big arrogant thing. And they only had me four minutes and I can't come back for, I can't come back for at least a month because they won't.

• 1:05:56Ed Mylett?

Yeah, they won't have the same guy.

• 1:05:57Grant Cardone?

Nothing, they're not gonna have you tomorrow, okay? And we have no control and this bullshit and I'm pissed off about it. And basically what I, what, those things, when I'm complaining about something.

• 1:06:07Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:06:08Grant Cardone?

I'm like, okay, what are you gonna do about that? So this quits happening to you. Okay, because I don't want to keep being angry. Like you said something about using all the energy or was it Domin, it was, it was Darius. That was here today. And he said, you've got to use all the energy on the field.

• 1:06:22Ed Mylett?

  Yes.

• 1:06:23Grant Cardone?

  The anger.

• 1:06:23Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 1:06:24Grant Cardone?

So, so I'm like, I'm so angry about this and I walked into Sherry's office and said, let's get a studio, I want to be on TV every day. And that's how Grant Cardon TV started.

• 1:06:33Ed Mylett?

And you started, you didn't care about what the cost was, the capital, the expenses?

• 1:06:37Grant Cardone?

We started small, we did one, we've had multiple versions, so this is our third studio.

• 1:06:42Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 1:06:42Grant Cardone?

And we've made a lot of mistakes and everything, but, but you know, every day, Monday I do a show, Tuesday I do a show, every day of the week I do a show.

• 1:06:49Ed Mylett?

  What else do you want?

• 1:06:50Grant Cardone?

We stream probably 10 times a week, live.

• 1:06:52Ed Mylett?

No, and it's just the whole, I was in a sales meeting this morning, just the whole operation here, all the different things your hands are in. All the, all the stuff that you're interested in, between the social media stuff and the closing and the, your sales stuff, all that sort of stuff. What else do you want? Like, you know, you're looking at, I'm not gonna tell you.

• 1:07:06Grant Cardone?

I want, I want 40,000 apartments. I'm gonna take, I'm gonna take my, my real estate portfolio, what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take the 4,000 units I have, I'm gonna roll to 40,000.

• 1:07:14Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 1:07:15Grant Cardone?

  Okay, 40,000 times.

• 1:07:16Ed Mylett?

  In what timeframe?

• 1:07:18Grant Cardone?

I think I can do this in the next, I think I can do this in 10 years or less.

• 1:07:23Ed Mylett?

In 10 years or less, okay.

• 1:07:24Grant Cardone?

I think I can get to 10,000 by maybe next year.

• 1:07:29Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 1:07:29Grant Cardone?

  Two and a half times.

• 1:07:30Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 1:07:30Grant Cardone?

And I think I can get, I think I can probably do it before 10 years.

• 1:07:33Ed Mylett?

Are you obsessed with it like your book says?

• 1:07:35Grant Cardone?

Oh, I'm totally obsessed with it.

• 1:07:36Ed Mylett?

Why? Why do you want that?

• 1:07:37Grant Cardone?

I may never write a book to do this.

• 1:07:39Ed Mylett?

What do you mean by that?

• 1:07:40Grant Cardone?

I may never write another book to do this because I think that this will, this is a game changer for me, for me and others. Because, because, look, I don't believe in the, there's a lot of financial instruments out there that I think are bad for people. And they start with that, where you live. You know, buying a house is a mistake. People should not be putting their money in a house. People should not be putting their money in a bank.

• 1:08:03Ed Mylett?

Right, we're just talking about this today.

• 1:08:05Grant Cardone?

And, and, and you guys are, you guys are starting to move to the Bitcoin conversation and the crypto and the ICOs and you're gonna get killed.

• 1:08:12Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:13Grant Cardone?

So, so Elena said you cannot keep complaining about these things if you're not gonna provide people with an alternative. I didn't want to do the investor thing and she said that to me like three times. You have to provide an alternative if you're gonna, you know, if you're gonna hammer on this stuff.

• 1:08:28Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 1:08:29Grant Cardone?

  So that's why I'm creating a fund.

• 1:08:30Ed Mylett?

And what's the, have them know a little bit about it so that they're...

• 1:08:33Grant Cardone?

Cardone Capital is a fund created for people that love real estate, like passive income.

• 1:08:40Ed Mylett?

  Creditive investors only.

• 1:08:41Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, positive cash flow.

• 1:08:42Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:43Grant Cardone?

And you're willing and able, in a financial situation, you can wait for six, seven, eight, 10 years to double and triple your money. So...

• 1:08:52Ed Mylett?

And not get, and by the way, principal too. You're gonna, you're...

• 1:08:54Grant Cardone?

You get your principal back. You get a dividend every month. Not every quarter, every month. And you wait for us to do a double or a triple.

• 1:09:01Ed Mylett?

  Gotcha.

• 1:09:02Grant Cardone?

So this is a, this isn't get rich quick.

• 1:09:04Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 1:09:04Grant Cardone?

But it is get rich for sure.

• 1:09:06Ed Mylett?

Yep, and that's your primary focus right now.

• 1:09:08Grant Cardone?

Because what I want to do, I want to scale, the best way, the best way to get allegiance and friends on this planet?

• 1:09:13Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 1:09:13Grant Cardone?

Is to pay them every month.

• 1:09:16Grant Cardone?

It's not for them to pay you, it's to pay them.

• 1:09:19Ed Mylett?

Yeah, they'll get you friends quick.

• 1:09:20Grant Cardone?

You wanna make friends, dude, let me, a billionaire taught me this. He's like, Grant, if you want people pulling for you, pay them. And I said, what do you mean? He's like, I'm not talking about employees. Pay them with investments. Get their money to be paid money. You want friends? He's like, man, cuz he built a company from scratch. It went public and everybody invested, got rich. And he's like, I got people all over the planet. He was telling me before it went public. He's like, I got people all over the planet pulling for me every day. And so that really set that idea. I said, okay, I've helped them with books. I've helped them with seminars. I helped them with speaking at your gig. Then we opened up in October, November last year. We opened up two funds. They oversold.

• 1:10:06Grant Cardone?

And every month, people get a check. Well, people are sort of like, thank you, send me gifts, thank you. Send me a watch, thank you. Like, man, people are pulling for me, they're praying for me. People tell me, man, I'm praying for you now that I'm investing with you. So we're gonna scale that out. It helps me scale and it helps them make money.

• 1:10:21Ed Mylett?

So that's your primary focus right now? All these focuses, that's what you're driving, this thing is driving you the most right now?

• 1:10:26Grant Cardone?

Yeah, I mean, it's not keeping me from doing this interview with you right now.

• 1:10:29Ed Mylett?

Well, he couldn't be anywhere more important than this.

• 1:10:31Grant Cardone?

That's right, that's right. So I really wanna do that. It's a personal thing for me. Cuz now, if I could take the package, the 40,000 units? And go to Wall Street and sell it? That would be, me ringing the bell is one on my bucket list.

• 1:10:46Ed Mylett?

I've got some chills on my hairless arm right there. My hair that was there would be standing up.

• 1:10:50Grant Cardone?

So really, I'm gonna help the public be able to invest in, these are massive projects. That produce cash.

• 1:10:57Ed Mylett?

That are very difficult, someone couldn't get into on their own without the type of credit, access, capital, etc.

• 1:11:03Grant Cardone?

I mean, who's the rich guy you know?

• 1:11:07Ed Mylett?

  Rich Thali.

• 1:11:08Grant Cardone?

The guy, the guy you, he can't buy these deals.

• 1:11:11Ed Mylett?

  Right, right.

• 1:11:11Grant Cardone?

Even though he's got the money.

• 1:11:12Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 1:11:12Grant Cardone?

The guy you worked out with this morning.

• 1:11:14Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:14Grant Cardone?

  He can buy the Marlins.

• 1:11:16Ed Mylett?

  Jeter, Derek Jeter.

• 1:11:17Grant Cardone?

He cannot buy these apartment deals.

• 1:11:18Ed Mylett?

  Right, right.

• 1:11:19Grant Cardone?

  They'll take his call.

• 1:11:20Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:20Grant Cardone?

He's not gonna be able to buy the deal because they're not gonna sell him the deal because they don't know, he, they don't know him for this.

• 1:11:25Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 1:11:25Grant Cardone?

  To be in this space.

• 1:11:26Ed Mylett?

So there's also an access point that you provided they couldn't get access.

• 1:11:29Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, exactly.

• 1:11:30Ed Mylett?

Okay, a couple last things, a couple things for them. So that's you. There's two types of entrepreneurs out there. I want you to talk to both of them real quick.

• 1:11:34Grant Cardone?

And, and let me just say this back on the, the apartment thing. The apartment thing is utilizing all the, the skills that I've honed for years. Sales, negotiating, closing.

• 1:11:44Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 1:11:45Grant Cardone?

Look, I know how to get a good deal. So if the deal's 80 million bucks, I squeezed every $8,000 I can out of that deal going all the way down.

• 1:11:53Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:54Grant Cardone?

Like, so I know how to get a good deal on the way in.

• 1:11:56Ed Mylett?

  Yep.

• 1:11:56Grant Cardone?

And I know how to get us a great deal on the way out.

• 1:11:58Ed Mylett?

  Getting out.

• 1:11:58Grant Cardone?

You sell it, because both of those are negotiating and sales points.

• 1:12:01Ed Mylett?

  Okay. Anything else on that?

• 1:12:03Grant Cardone?

  No, that's all.

• 1:12:04Ed Mylett?

Okay. There's more to it than that, but that was big.

• 1:12:06Grant Cardone?

Well, and, and there is one other thing, like discipline and discipline. Like, how many authors and speakers or consultants do you know that own their own plane?

• 1:12:16Ed Mylett?

Uh, that's a good question. Almost nobody.

• 1:12:19Grant Cardone?

Exactly. So, like, you can't, you know, that bird that I bought, that's too small now, by the way.

• 1:12:24Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:25Grant Cardone?

You can't, like, you can't fake a plane.

• 1:12:29Ed Mylett?

  No, I know.

• 1:12:29Grant Cardone?

  You own a plane, exactly.

• 1:12:30Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:31Grant Cardone?

  You own a plane.

• 1:12:32Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:33Grant Cardone?

Owning a plane is not a demonstration of being rich. It is a demonstration of discipline.

• 1:12:38Ed Mylett?

  So true, yeah.

• 1:12:40Grant Cardone?

It is not a demonstration of rich. It is a demonstration or wealth. It is a demonstration that somebody was disciplined.

• 1:12:46Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:46Grant Cardone?

I'm not talking about Coca-Cola and a plane. I'm talking about an individual that owns a plane.

• 1:12:49Ed Mylett?

  Human being, right, yeah.

• 1:12:50Grant Cardone?

It is a, because that thing, that, that, that's like, you know, if you think your dog takes a lot of energy or your kids.

• 1:12:57Ed Mylett?

  Oh, my gosh.

• 1:12:58Grant Cardone?

That, that thing right there takes the energy of a school.

• 1:13:01Ed Mylett?

It does. And it's funny you say that because very rarely do I pull my plane up next to other individuals' planes. They're usually owned by companies.

• 1:13:07Grant Cardone?

  Coca-Cola.

• 1:13:08Ed Mylett?

Yeah, very rare that you go, hey, there's another guy or another woman with an airplane like that.

• 1:13:11Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:13:12Ed Mylett?

Your vigilance is the other reason too. And I'm, I'll just be honest with you. I, I find invested money, I want it to be with somebody that I know is just on it.

• 1:13:18Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:13:18Ed Mylett?

Just freaking on it constantly. And you're on it, so. Speaking about on it, last couple of things I was gonna ask you. So there's two types of entrepreneurs out there. There's ones that are just getting started, then there's ones that are stuck at some level, right? Let's talk to the ones that are getting started. What advice would you give, just in general?

• 1:13:33Grant Cardone?

Work in increments, follow the money. Follow the money, don't follow your heart.

• 1:13:39Ed Mylett?

What do you mean by follow the money?

• 1:13:40Grant Cardone?

Follow the money, find money. Find money, who's got my money?

• 1:13:43Ed Mylett?

  Close deals, close deals.

• 1:13:44Grant Cardone?

Who's got my money? You know, not just close deals, you want to find money. I gotta, because you can, you can close a deal if there's no money. Then there's no money. So don't follow friendship, don't follow love, follow money. You single guys out there, you, you, you want the girl? Follow the money. You follow the money, they'll follow it. They might not be gold diggers, they'll still like money. So, so you, you, I, I can line them up around the street if I get rich enough.

• 1:14:09Ed Mylett?

  Okay, and then?

• 1:14:10Grant Cardone?

Follow the money, for your department, follow the money. When you get stuck, follow the money.

• 1:14:14Ed Mylett?

  Okay.

• 1:14:16Grant Cardone?

I'm telling you, just make it simple, follow the money. Is there money in this room? Is there money in this activity? Do these people have money? Is there any money at this dinner table? Am I eating where there's money? Is there money in this hotel? If there's no money there, don't go there.

• 1:14:28Ed Mylett?

Right, and money could be indirect too, like in my business, the money could be, I'm gonna get money if I recruit people, right?

• 1:14:33Grant Cardone?

Yeah, exactly. We're gonna talk about that. Yeah, people, people. So, so who's got money?

• 1:14:37Ed Mylett?

  Right.

• 1:14:37Grant Cardone?

  Bars don't have money.

• 1:14:38Ed Mylett?

  Bars don't have money.

• 1:14:39Grant Cardone?

There's drunk people in them. So who's got money? And by the way, if they're drunk people, they can't buy from you because they're gonna, that tomorrow they're gonna wake up and say, I didn't really want to do that.

• 1:14:46Ed Mylett?

Yeah, you're right. So, okay, so the same advice for someone that's stuck, is it follow money?

• 1:14:51Grant Cardone?

Look, if you're stuck, you know, i- i- if you're stuck, I would probably look at the people around you first. You know, you didn't get in this to get stuck, so somebody, you know, uh, you know, my friend that, that I mentioned earlier, that I got in so much help from, it's, it's like, conditions don't just happen. They're made to happen. So terrorist attack, they're made to happen. Okay, wars are made to happen. Illiteracy's made to happen. It's not an accident. These things happen, roaches show up in your apartment. That was made to happen, somebody did that, right? So if your roof caves in, Puerto Rico, the storm, these aren't event, it's, it's an island this big, in the, in the, in the ocean, and, and they get hurricanes, you're like, like, that's gonna happen.

• 1:15:36Grant Cardone?

So I don't know why everybody's surprised. So if you're stuck, somebody made that happen. Who was it? Was it you, or was it your wife? Or your husband saying, "You're working too hard."

• 1:15:49Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:15:50Grant Cardone?

"You're working too hard. You need to relax." Or maybe it's your friends, or maybe you went to dinner and your family's like, "You're working too much." I have my family members tell me that. I'm like, "Look, if you don't knock it off, I'm not coming back here."

• 1:16:00Ed Mylett?

I got that same stuff in the beginning.

• 1:16:02Grant Cardone?

  You know?

• 1:16:02Ed Mylett?

Now they want to use those houses you want me to sell.

• 1:16:04Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, exactly.

• 1:16:04Ed Mylett?

But same exact thing. I think usually if you're stuck, if you look back at some point, you look back 90, 120 days, you'll find the story. You stopped doing something you used to do that kept you successful.

• 1:16:14Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:14Ed Mylett?

You stopped prospecting, you stopped closing, you stopped recruiting.

• 1:16:16Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:17Ed Mylett?

You stopped talking to people, you stopped making phone calls, you stopped personal development, you stopped reading books, you stopped something in the background.

• 1:16:22Grant Cardone?

Somebody said, "When's enough enough, Ed?" That's a natural question. I get it all the time.

• 1:16:27Ed Mylett?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:28Grant Cardone?

  I say, "You're stuck."

• 1:16:29Ed Mylett?

  You're stuck.

• 1:16:29Grant Cardone?

If you're asking that question, you're always stuck.

• 1:16:31Ed Mylett?

Yeah, and that's why they're not hungry anymore, too.

• 1:16:33Grant Cardone?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:34Ed Mylett?

All right, listen, this has been, uh... This is like my favorite hour I've probably ever had on this kind of stuff.

• 1:16:39Grant Cardone?

Yeah, you told Tony the same thing.

• 1:16:40Ed Mylett?

I didn't tell Tony that. What I told him was that he was my dream guest.

• 1:16:43Grant Cardone?

  Okay.

• 1:16:44Ed Mylett?

  That's what I told him.

• 1:16:45Grant Cardone?

  Okay.

• 1:16:45Ed Mylett?

And it's not that I didn't dream to have you.

• 1:16:46Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:16:47Ed Mylett?

Because I'll probably get more people watching it because you're on here. But here's what I want you to know about this guy, right here. This dude, he seems pretty hardcore and intense. This is what I got, and he won't tell you this. He really cares about you. He really cares that you have a happier and better life. He cares about people. He's one of these guys with this huge heart that's wrapped in this relatively interesting exterior. And you know this, Johnny, the camera guy's nodding right now. He's funny, he can be goofy, he can be super intense, he can be pretty harsh, he can be abrasive, he can be warm, he can be all those things. But what that's all wrapped in and inside this dude, he has a massive heart. He wants to help people, he wants the world to change. He's got hundreds of thousands of pieces of information out there that he put out for free to help people, to serve them. And I know today did that too, man.

• 1:17:32Ed Mylett?

I know it's a different slant. I didn't want to do the same interview.

• 1:17:34Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:17:35Ed Mylett?

You know, you're a kid, your dad died, all that's powerful. But that's out there. Some of the stuff we talked about today hasn't necessarily been out there. So I appreciate you opening up about some of this other stuff today, too, and sharing it with people.

• 1:17:45Grant Cardone?

  Yeah, yeah, man.

• 1:17:45Ed Mylett?

  I love you, brother.

• 1:17:46Grant Cardone?

  Appreciate you, man, appreciate you.

• 1:17:47Ed Mylett?

  I've been enjoying our friendship.

• 1:17:48Grant Cardone?

And you've got a great audience, and you're doing a monster service for a lot of people.

• 1:17:52Ed Mylett?

Thank you, brother. All right, take care. Back to you, everybody.
