• 0:00Ashley Hesseltine?

Welcome to the snack, a lighter serving of Girls Gotta Eat. This is a Dear Media production. Enjoy.

• 0:10Ashley Hesseltine?

  Hi guys.

• 0:11Rayna Greenberg?

  Hi guys.

• 0:12Ashley Hesseltine?

What's been up? It's a holiday weekend coming up.

• 0:16Rayna Greenberg?

I'm really excited. Are you talking about what you're doing? You laid up.

• 0:20Ashley Hesseltine?

Fine, I'll talk about it. I am getting a gum graft tomorrow. It's Friday before the holiday weekend. That's how I'm spending my Memorial Day.

• 0:29Rayna Greenberg?

I'm glad I finally get to pick you up from a surgery.

• 0:32Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah, you owe me.

• 0:34Rayna Greenberg?

I've had so much over the years.

• 0:35Ashley Hesseltine?

That I picked you up, yeah. I am, I just have some receiving gums. And they've been like that for a while, but it's not, it hasn't been an emergency.

• 0:44Rayna Greenberg?

  Yeah.

• 0:44Ashley Hesseltine?

And um, I just, I gotta get it done.

• 0:47Rayna Greenberg?

I'm also glad you're doing, I need, I need a dentist here. I need to get some gum graft done as well.

• 0:51Ashley Hesseltine?

Dr. Decano in, Dr. Lila Decano in Beverly Hills. She's, but she's not doing it. A gum.

• 0:59Rayna Greenberg?

  Specialist?

• 1:00Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, I forget what they're called. Uh, Dr. Warren, he's doing it. But yeah, it's not, I'm not thrilled about it.

• 1:04Rayna Greenberg?

  Are you out for it?

• 1:06Ashley Hesseltine?

No, you're just numb. Like, they, it's like, you know, they do the numbing injections, like when you get cavities filled. One of the teeth that they are doing has a cavity in it. It's gonna be, it's still gonna be a disaster.

• 1:16Rayna Greenberg?

  It's traumatizing.

• 1:17Ashley Hesseltine?

And then they do, I need six done, six teeth done. And so they do one side of the mouth so you can chew on the other side. So I'll have to get two of these surgeries.

• 1:25Rayna Greenberg?

I think I might have to do this.

• 1:27Ashley Hesseltine?

No, this is not what you need. I told you this a million times. You don't, you need something else.

• 1:31Rayna Greenberg?

They just want me to get like a super clean.

• 1:33Ashley Hesseltine?

It's not recession, like I have recession.

• 1:35Rayna Greenberg?

  Yeah.

• 1:35Ashley Hesseltine?

  You know what I mean?

• 1:36Rayna Greenberg?

Well, I'm glad you're getting taken care of. I say it all the time. You're the person that makes me go to the doctor. I would never go otherwise.

• 1:41Ashley Hesseltine?

  Stop going to the doctor.

• 1:42Rayna Greenberg?

I love going to the doctor.

• 1:43Ashley Hesseltine?

I don't love it. There's just always something wrong with me.

• 1:45Rayna Greenberg?

I mean, I really always probably should go to a doctor and I'm just living free.

• 1:50Ashley Hesseltine?

Like I am gonna eventually need to get a surgery on my butt. That's a whole other thing. I had a virtual doctor's appointment yesterday about that. And I had to like decide which surgery I'm getting tomorrow. Like I had to prioritize, because I don't have a lot of time.

• 2:05Rayna Greenberg?

We were like, should we do them both at the same time?

• 2:07Ashley Hesseltine?

I was like, should I do them both? Like an extreme makeover? No, it's just like, I don't have a lot of windows of time with the tour, with Raina Palooza, with my travel. And then I want to get all this stuff knocked out before my wedding. Like I want to get my butt and my mouth fixed.

• 2:21Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, no, you can't get married with like a fucked up mouth and butt.

• 2:25Ashley Hesseltine?

And people are probably like, oh, my God, gum graft, whatever. If you guys are curious, you can get, you can do it where you get your own gums taken from like the own roof of your mouth. I'm not doing that. I'm doing

• 2:33Rayna Greenberg?

  Someone else's mouth?

• 2:34Ashley Hesseltine?

  Donor.

• 2:35Rayna Greenberg?

  Donor gums?

• 2:36Ashley Hesseltine?

It's called donor tissue, which is way better and way better recovery than like scraping it from the top of your mouth.

• 2:43Rayna Greenberg?

But it's from someone else's mouth?

• 2:44Ashley Hesseltine?

I guess it's probably from like a cadaver.

• 2:45Rayna Greenberg?

  Can you?

• 2:47Ashley Hesseltine?

  I don't know.

• 2:47Rayna Greenberg?

Is it from a dead person?

• 2:48Ashley Hesseltine?

What do I care? It's way better.

• 2:51Rayna Greenberg?

  It's in your mouth?

• 2:51Ashley Hesseltine?

  It's way better.

• 2:53Rayna Greenberg?

Like, that's gonna be in there forever. You didn't ask, like, can I pick? Can I see a photo?

• 2:58Ashley Hesseltine?

It's just, they just, I don't know. That's, they just have it.

• 3:01Rayna Greenberg?

I'm fascinated by it. I just can't believe you can tell me this.

• 3:03Ashley Hesseltine?

  It's so tiny.

• 3:04Rayna Greenberg?

  I just

• 3:05Ashley Hesseltine?

It's such a, it's such a teeny tiny piece of like tissue, skin, whatever.

• 3:09Rayna Greenberg?

Would you want like your fiance to like do it?

• 3:11Ashley Hesseltine?

  Do it.

• 3:12Rayna Greenberg?

You just got like his, his mouth grafted on your mouth?

• 3:14Ashley Hesseltine?

  No, then we're really bonded.

• 3:15Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah. Like, he really loved me, you would do this?

• 3:18Ashley Hesseltine?

  Then we're really family.

• 3:20Rayna Greenberg?

Okay, let's talk about our partners and we'll get into it. Thank you to Smalls Cat Food. Get 35% off plus an additional 50% off your first order at Smalls.com with code GGE. And Court Furniture, build your own furniture rental package today at Court.com/podcast. That's C-O-R-T.com/podcast.

And thank you to Rocket Money. Cancel your unwanted subscriptions at RocketMoney.com/GGE.

• 3:46Rayna Greenberg?

So, um, before we jump into it, we just wanna kinda give you guys like a GGE company update.

• 3:51Ashley Hesseltine?

Company update? A Q2 update? Um, yeah, we wanted to let you guys know that Tessa is no longer with Girls Gotta Eat. And we just know you guys have come to know her and love her as we did over the past almost two and a half years that she worked with us. And, you know, you've heard her on The Snack and she was really a big part of our Thursday episodes especially. And we just wanted to let you know, there is no drama, no bad blood. We love Tessa and we wish her all the best and we hope our paths cross with her again.

• 4:27Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, we, we loved having her with us for two and a half years, like wish her the best. And I think that she's gonna grow and thrive and, and climb through this world in an amazing way. And we, again, just, we had a great couple of years there at the tour and here. And, um, that's it. We just, we wanted to acknowledge it and

• 4:47Ashley Hesseltine?

  Let you guys know.

• 4:48Rayna Greenberg?

  Yeah.

• 4:48Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, you're part of the GGE fam. She was part of the fam, part of the team. And so that's what it is and we wish her well.

• 4:56Rayna Greenberg?

  Yeah.

• 4:57Ashley Hesseltine?

Okay. Let's talk about hand jobs.

• 5:01Rayna Greenberg?

  The rest of our team.

• 5:02Ashley Hesseltine?

  Let's.

• 5:04Ashley Hesseltine?

  Let's do it all hands.

• 5:05Rayna Greenberg?

So we are really excited to announce a new little launch and gift for you guys from Vibes Only. We have launched a stroker egg. So if you're watching, you can see it. It's in my hand. We both have them next to us, but it comes in a little container and it's going to be your handjob helper.

• 5:22Ashley Hesseltine?

Yes, so we have a company called Vibes Only. VibesOnly.com is the website. We have sex toys and accoutrement. It's our sexual wellness company and we just wanted to do a little holiday giveaway. So it is starting through the weekend. This is while supplies last. So you spend $50 on the site and you're just going to get this thrown into your cart. And if you guys have never seen these, they're incredible. So they, again, it's a stroker egg. It's designed for hand jobs. You can give them to your partner or he can do it himself. And you just squirt a little lube in it. We sell an incredible lube. It's called Juiced Up and just get it nice and juicy. And then you're just, it's really stretchy. It's going to go on his dick and just go stroke it, slide it up and down. It feels incredible as far as I've heard from the men that have used them.

• 6:06Ashley Hesseltine?

And we hope you guys have fun with it. We're making hand jobs great again.

• 6:10Rayna Greenberg?

The texture is incredible and it just adds a little spice. I mean, you could certainly use it solo if you're a person with a penis, but we love it as a couples toy. And it comes in this great icy blue color. And yes, like she said, while supplies last at VibesOnly.com with any purchase $50 or more.

• 6:25Ashley Hesseltine?

Egg prices have not gone down, so we know everyone has been hot and bothered about that. So we're like, we're giving you your eggs for free.

• 6:32Rayna Greenberg?

  Yeah, we're your safe space.

• 6:33Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yes.

• 6:34Rayna Greenberg?

And then we have also relaunched our best selling Juicy Peach Suck and Blow Gel. This is our summer flavor. So this will enhance the experience of any oral situation. It'll make your sort of saliva glands salivate. So better, wetter oral on any part of the body. And you can toss that into your cart as well at VibesOnly.com.

• 6:54Ashley Hesseltine?

Okay, so while we're talking about horny things, we are going to kick it off with our heartthrob report.

• 7:02Ashley Hesseltine?

This was my whole feed was these two men.

• 7:05Rayna Greenberg?

There's nothing on my feed besides Theo James's crotch. That's it, just zoom in shots of Theo James's crotch.

• 7:12Ashley Hesseltine?

Theo James and Pedro Pascal, we're gonna talk about them both. We're gonna go deep on them both. I wish they would go deep in me, but you know.

• 7:19Rayna Greenberg?

You know that I still go back to the ice cream shop every day hoping to see Theo James.

• 7:23Ashley Hesseltine?

So Theo James and Vittoria Saretti, this beautiful model, they recreated Dolce & Gabbana's central commercial for the Light Blue Fragrance's 25th anniversary. So we all know the iconic fragrance, Light Blue. We'll talk about some other throwback fragrances in a minute. But they, it's shot in Capri in Italy. I mean, nothing gave me Italy FOMO more. We were just talking about that a couple of weeks ago with Brian Kelly. Like, I was just like, God, I want to be on that boat. I want to be in that blue water. It just.

• 7:53Rayna Greenberg?

I want to be on Theo James.

• 7:54Ashley Hesseltine?

  And on Theo James, yes.

• 7:55Rayna Greenberg?

I mean, it's the sexiest commercial. They didn't have to go that hard. They do the upside down kiss. He's in his underwear.

• 8:03Ashley Hesseltine?

I know. This is my porn category, is Theo James in Capri and white panties.

• 8:07Rayna Greenberg?

Why do they go this hard?

• 8:09Ashley Hesseltine?

They went so hard. You're so right. Why am I seeing so many close up shots of his dick on Instagram?

• 8:15Rayna Greenberg?

  It's just his crotch.

• 8:17Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 8:18Rayna Greenberg?

I mean, I like it. I'm here for it. Can I tell you what I find interesting about this commercial? Tell me if you like, think this is weird. I think it's, Vittoria is a, is a model. She's, that's, that's her job. Theo James is an actor.

• 8:31Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 8:31Rayna Greenberg?

I think it's interesting to cast two people, and I understand it's all acting, but they're both, Theo James is married. She's in a relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio, a very serious one.

• 8:40Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh, I guess I knew that.

• 8:42Rayna Greenberg?

It's interesting to cast two people that are famously like with other people in this commercial where they're like hooking up. I mean, like Theo James is an actor. He's married. It's different to me than a model. Like, models get cast to do this stuff, but like, I don't know, like, I wouldn't hire a model and put them in a commercial for vibes only with you. That would be weird. Don't you think it's a little odd?

• 9:02Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, like I, I hear you.

• 9:04Rayna Greenberg?

Or do you think it's just an acting job?

• 9:05Ashley Hesseltine?

I've never really thought that deeply about it because it's like, this is just what it is. But it's different because it's not just like a photo shoot. It's like videos. It's like, it's like softcore porn.

• 9:14Rayna Greenberg?

And it's not an acting gig and like a television show, which I know it's understood that actors are going to like kind of hook. It's just, it's a commercial where they're hooking up.

• 9:22Ashley Hesseltine?

Totally. Yes. And if you guys want to watch these, you can go on their Instagram, of course, or just, you know, anywhere on the internet, you'll see it. But you're, you're so right. And also like, I don't know, I kind of want to ship somebody. Like, let's just have two hot singles. Like, why wasn't this Sydney Sweeney and Glenn Powell? No, I'm just kidding. I'm glad it's Theo James, but yeah, you're so right.

• 9:41Rayna Greenberg?

I thought it was, I was just like, this is-

• 9:42Ashley Hesseltine?

  I can't get behind this.

• 9:43Rayna Greenberg?

It's weird. I know they're like, it's also like, if I'm Theo James's wife and I'm like, you're going to do what? You're going to hook up with one of the hottest women in the world in Italy just for funsies in this commercial?

• 9:55Ashley Hesseltine?

Well, he's like, yeah, I'm an actor. What, what is it? What about it?

• 9:58Rayna Greenberg?

  It feels different to me.

• 9:59Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, it hits different. Well, you know, it's super sexy. It just is like, I get lost in it. Like the music, they're on the boat. I mean, have you been to Capri?

• 10:10Rayna Greenberg?

  Yeah, on a boat.

• 10:11Ashley Hesseltine?

I, I went like when I was 19, like with my family, you know, I've just been dying to go back. But okay, I want to talk about light blue.

• 10:18Rayna Greenberg?

  Okay.

• 10:19Ashley Hesseltine?

  Did you wear light blue?

• 10:20Rayna Greenberg?

Tell me the year that light blue would have been like popular.

• 10:23Ashley Hesseltine?

  Probably like late 90s, Y2K.

• 10:26Rayna Greenberg?

  Like when Gap Dream was-

• 10:28Ashley Hesseltine?

Well, what is it's the, it's the 25th anniversary. So 20, so 2000.

• 10:32Rayna Greenberg?

So a little after when Gap, I was more of a Gap-

• 10:35Ashley Hesseltine?

You were a Gap Dream girly. Okay.

• 10:37Rayna Greenberg?

Then I did the Bath and Body Works since, the cucumber melon. Those were more like my jam. I never was like, I never did the Victoria's Secret, what was it, Body?

• 10:45Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh, I did Body by Victoria and Very Sexy. And you know, Lindsay was a manager there.

• 10:51Rayna Greenberg?

  I know, I know.

• 10:53Ashley Hesseltine?

Lindsay brought that measuring tape and her black blazer. She was like 17.

• 10:57Rayna Greenberg?

  They look official.

• 10:59Ashley Hesseltine?

So official. She was business casual, just going after high school to go work at Victoria's Secret and measure people. So I wanted to talk about some of my, I was, I was into perfume. I mean, they really market it to teenage girls and like to girls, the early twenties, girls. Chanel Chance was a big one. When Chanel Chance dropped, but like that was like a big one. I was into that one. Thierry Mueller, Angel. Did you ever fuck with Angel?

• 11:24Rayna Greenberg?

  Yes, I did. Absolutely.

• 11:25Ashley Hesseltine?

I loved it so, so much, but then it got like sickeningly sweet to me and I got drunk wearing it so much and it started to smell like blackouts.

• 11:33Rayna Greenberg?

  It smelled like vanilla.

• 11:35Ashley Hesseltine?

It was, yeah, it was a really like, I don't know how to describe it, really intense, like sweet. It wasn't clean.

• 11:41Rayna Greenberg?

  No.

• 11:41Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 11:42Rayna Greenberg?

It smelled like sugar and vanilla. You know what I used to do sometimes?

• 11:45Ashley Hesseltine?

  What?

• 11:46Rayna Greenberg?

I bought a little bottle of Curve and I would spray it on my pillow.

• 11:48Ashley Hesseltine?

Like men's Curve. Well, they had for women too. Liz Claiborne.

• 11:51Rayna Greenberg?

  No, men's Curve.

• 11:52Ashley Hesseltine?

  An icon.

• 11:53Rayna Greenberg?

  Put that on my pillow.

• 11:54Ashley Hesseltine?

  Men's Curve.

• 11:55Rayna Greenberg?

  It still makes me horny.

• 11:56Ashley Hesseltine?

Okay, what, I have a real deep cut for you. Tommy Girl.

• 12:00Rayna Greenberg?

Fuck yes. Absolutely. I love Tommy Girl.

• 12:03Ashley Hesseltine?

And then I have another one for you. Clinique Happy.

• 12:06Rayna Greenberg?

I was, oh my God, Ashley, like I feel like this is, you just like explained my whole childhood. I loved, we were such a Clinique family.

• 12:12Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh my, oh my God. Yes. That bar soap that smelled like garbage in the ocean. Why did it smell like the sea was decaying?

• 12:21Rayna Greenberg?

But why, you just really described my whole childhood.

• 12:24Ashley Hesseltine?

I know. And sometimes on the cheaper side, if you were like going to the drugstore, deeper cut, Vanilla Fields.

• 12:31Rayna Greenberg?

  No, we didn't have that.

• 12:35Ashley Hesseltine?

Sunflowers. There was like drugstore popular fragrances. And then of course, like CK1 knockoffs.

• 12:41Rayna Greenberg?

No, I also, I have, I have drugstore tea for you. Um, it's sad. Rite Aid is closing all stores. Rite Aid went out of business.

• 12:47Ashley Hesseltine?

  That's really sad.

• 12:47Rayna Greenberg?

  R I P.

• 12:48Ashley Hesseltine?

  Well, I don't know. I'm a C V S girlie. You know I am.

• 12:50Rayna Greenberg?

  I am too.

• 12:50Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 12:51Rayna Greenberg?

Walgreens. I don't think I've been to a Rite Aid in years.

• 12:54Ashley Hesseltine?

I know. I guess I don't really care about this.

• 12:56Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah. I didn't support them. That's why they're going out of business. Anyways, yes, you described my whole childhood. Those are all the things. And then since then, I've worn like three perfumes since I was like 21.

• 13:04Ashley Hesseltine?

Okay. So have we talked about this? What are you wearing now?

• 13:06Rayna Greenberg?

Today I'm wearing Chloe. I wore Michael Kors, it's just their like standard Michael Kors perfume. It smells like lilacs. I wore that for like 15 years.

• 13:15Ashley Hesseltine?

  Oh my god.

• 13:16Rayna Greenberg?

And then I was in Italy and I smelled Chloe at a store and I went back and bought it. I love it. And then, once in a blue, I'll throw on Tanawar by La Labo, which people like go crazy for. That's my expensive perfume though.

• 13:27Ashley Hesseltine?

  Totally.

• 13:27Rayna Greenberg?

I don't waste it on just anybody.

• 13:28Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh yeah. I wear Juliette has a gun, that's the line, and I wear Lust for Sun.

• 13:34Rayna Greenberg?

What's the thing I'm always obsessed with on you?

• 13:35Ashley Hesseltine?

And you didn't like it smelling it in the bottle when we were testing and you liked it on me. And then I like Gucci Bloom, the light pink bottle. There's a bunch of Gucci Blooms. It's very confusing.

• 13:46Rayna Greenberg?

Listen, not a hot take, but like when I smelled that perfume in the bottle, I was like, I can't believe she's gonna buy that.

• 13:50Ashley Hesseltine?

  Oh, it is so good.

• 13:52Rayna Greenberg?

And it smells so good on you, it's crazy.

• 13:54Ashley Hesseltine?

And then I do La Labo Rose, the Rose 31, I believe those are my three. But Juliette has a gun. A lot of people don't know that line and they have like great fragrances.

• 14:04Rayna Greenberg?

No, it's incredible. Okay, and then just to get back to our daddy, our hot daddy report, what'd you call it?

• 14:10Ashley Hesseltine?

  Heartthrob report.

• 14:11Rayna Greenberg?

  Our hot daddy.

• 14:12Ashley Hesseltine?

Hot daddy, horny, whatever you wanna call this report.

• 14:15Rayna Greenberg?

Pedro Pascal. I mean, he just, he was on a red carpet and can. He was just like blowing kisses and being like silly. You don't see actors act like that a lot, just like lose in ambitions and just like act like a normal person. And it is so sexy to watch.

• 14:30Ashley Hesseltine?

The black muscle tank that is sweeping the nation. My whole feed is Pedro Pascal's arms in this black muscle tank. It's like we've never seen a man in a muscle tank before. Like, it feels too horny. Pedro, put him away! He's got like a perfect body, cuz he's not like, he's muscular, he's not too jacked. The black muscle tank in the black pants, just so chic and sexy. And like, he's just having such a moment and it could not be happening for anybody better. This person who was just, has this kind of strong message about the world too, and he just seems so kind. And he speaks out for trans rights, his sister is trans, he was with her a lot too in the red carpet.

• 15:11Ashley Hesseltine?

Her name is Lux and they're really close. I mean, he's been beefing it up with J.K. Rowling. Like he is just on the right side of history. He did this speech about the current political chaos going on right now at a Cannes press conference and he was saying fuck the people who try to make you scared. Keep telling the stories, keep expressing yourself and keep fighting to be who you are. Fight back and the perfect way to do this is tell stories, don't let them win. I mean, he is just no notes.

• 15:38Rayna Greenberg?

He's amazing and like this, it came out of nowhere. This is not like somebody who was like really big in the public eye for a super long time. So I was like, how, what was his ascent to like sexual greatness? And he wasn't

• 15:49Ashley Hesseltine?

  Sexual greatness?

• 15:51Rayna Greenberg?

He was on Game of Thrones. So he was in Game of Thrones in 2014 and he was also in Narcos. Which is great for him, but I also didn't really, he didn't really like get that famous from those things. And so I feel like he didn't get really famous until like for being sexy. He was in The Mandalorian in 2019 and The Last of Us in 2023. I feel like his sexiness didn't blow up until the last couple of years. Like he was like sexiest man alive and I was like, wait, who? And then you like watch him, you're like, oh.

• 16:19Ashley Hesseltine?

  I know.

• 16:19Rayna Greenberg?

  I get it.

• 16:20Ashley Hesseltine?

I mean, I love those later in life blowups like Jon Hamm.

• 16:25Rayna Greenberg?

  Yes.

• 16:25Ashley Hesseltine?

What his, wasn't he just about to quit it all?

• 16:27Rayna Greenberg?

  Yes.

• 16:28Ashley Hesseltine?

  When he got Mad Men?

• 16:29Rayna Greenberg?

  Steve

• 16:30Ashley Hesseltine?

He was supposed to hang it up.

• 16:32Rayna Greenberg?

Steve Crowell to get famous till I'm forty. But he's never been a sex symbol.

• 16:37Ashley Hesseltine?

  He has been.

• 16:37Rayna Greenberg?

  I love him.

• 16:38Ashley Hesseltine?

Crazy Stupid Love, wasn't that it?

• 16:40Rayna Greenberg?

  Uh, no, I think that

• 16:42Ashley Hesseltine?

  Oh, Ryan Gosling.

• 16:43Rayna Greenberg?

Ryan Gosling was the sex symbol in that one.

• 16:45Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh, I thought they made him sexy though.

• 16:48Rayna Greenberg?

The whole thing is he's trying to like make him sexier, but they never like make him sexy.

• 16:52Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay, okay.

• 16:52Rayna Greenberg?

But speaking of a later in life sex symbol, I'm so excited you brought this up. Okay. I had a celebrity sighting at this restaurant the other night. It was so funny and I was at dinner with Jackie and two of our friends and I see this guy across the restaurant and I can only kind of see his side profile, which is still turned a little bit and he's wearing a ball cap and thick black rim glasses and he's dressed, I'm like, I can't, I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He looked so sexy. All four of us were like, who is this guy? He's on a date with this girl. She's pacing us and she was beautiful and sexy too, dressed great. I could not take my eyes off this man. I was like, who is this guy? And I knew this place had some celeb sightings, so I like cruised by him and I realized it's Greg slash Gary from The White Lotus.

• 17:32Ashley Hesseltine?

Also Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite.

• 17:36Rayna Greenberg?

John, John Grize is his name. How old is he?

• 17:40Ashley Hesseltine?

It's just like, it's so funny that he has become a sex symbol. Uncle Rico?

• 17:45Rayna Greenberg?

  67. He is 67. When I tell you, all four of us could not take our eyes off of him. He was dressed like younger. I mean, it was like a ball cap, a tee shirt and these like thick rim glasses. I was like, why is he looking so sexy?

• 17:59Ashley Hesseltine?

I mean, that's the thing sometimes celebrities, like it just doesn't translate. You see him in person and sometimes they take your breath away.

• 18:05Rayna Greenberg?

A 67 year old has never taken my breath away, but he did this ad campaign for Jacamoose and his shirt's off.

• 18:12Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 18:13Rayna Greenberg?

I think you sent me this.

• 18:14Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, I saw it on GQ or something. I don't know that brand.

• 18:18Rayna Greenberg?

  Um, it's a men's brand.

• 18:20Ashley Hesseltine?

Oh, he's like, yeah, this picture of him with this banana. We'll put it up on the screen, but I mean, what this season of White Lotus did for people? Just blew them the fuck up. Walton Goggins? What? I know he's, I know, righteous jumps on that, but I'm just saying he was not a household name. He's hosting SNL.

• 18:38Rayna Greenberg?

Well, did you see his SNL monologue?

• 18:40Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 18:40Rayna Greenberg?

He talks about how everybody's like this guy with this receding hairline. He's like, this is complimentary?

• 18:47Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 18:47Rayna Greenberg?

  It's very funny.

• 18:48Ashley Hesseltine?

I know. It's just funny what that show has done. Well, let's just run through a couple more headlines and what's going on. And we do have a guest today. Ashley Underwood David, and she's going to come in shortly, but we're just going to go through a couple of things to keep you guys in the know. So the Diddy trial is happening and every day there's new updates. I mean, it's hard to follow some of this. But Cassie was on the stand for what days? Three, four days? Her former best friend is testifying now in the sex trafficking and racketeering case against Diddy about the abuse she endured. And this is just so horrific. I mean, her strength to be up there to relive this, what nine months pregnant?

• 19:32Ashley Hesseltine?

You know, I just can't imagine what she went through and I just, we wanted to at least acknowledge that and what she's done for women and survivors of abuse by, you know, standing up for this and sharing her story and showing that kind of strength.

• 19:47Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, we just want to commend her bravery and anybody who's ever been brave enough to speak out against their abuser, their attackers. So, um. We'll, we'll continue to watch it. We don't want to give too much light and airtime to this because it's horrifying.

• 20:00Ashley Hesseltine?

Well, I do have something to say.

• 20:02Rayna Greenberg?

  Hit me.

• 20:02Ashley Hesseltine?

50 Cent is is full-time trolling Diddy.

• 20:07Rayna Greenberg?

  Fuck yeah.

• 20:08Ashley Hesseltine?

I checked his Instagram today. Rena, it's insane. I mean, he put this high school photo, Sean Combs, and it's been edited, I assume. It says, "Most likely to get caught with 784 dildos and gallons of lube." So he went outside the courthouse and there's these people with free Diddy shirts, and he wrote, "Free Diddy protesters are being paid $20 an hour." So people are being paid to protest it. Look at this. He's posting this AI-generated image of Diddy on the back of a motorcycle with Jeffrey Epstein. His whole Instagram account

• 20:40Rayna Greenberg?

  He's my favorite internet troll.

• 20:41Ashley Hesseltine?

Is trolling Diddy. I mean, he is, he's, he's never stopped.

• 20:44Rayna Greenberg?

  I love it.

• 20:45Ashley Hesseltine?

I mean, this has been his whole brand. And so, of course, like that, this is a horrific thing, and it's nothing to joke about. But I do like seeing Fiddy just troll the shit out of Diddy.

• 20:54Rayna Greenberg?

I like to see huge celebrities come out against this.

• 20:56Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, and he's always been on the right side of history when it comes to stuff. I mean, Rena, look at these. He's posting these like AI images.

• 21:02Rayna Greenberg?

This is hysterical of Diddy holding hands with somebody in prison.

• 21:05Ashley Hesseltine?

But the $20 an hour. So then he went out there to even troll that, and now he's on the front steps of the courthouse with a free Diddy shirt.

• 21:15Rayna Greenberg?

  Bravo, 50.

• 21:15Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah. So, and he's just, and he's posting serious stuff about it, too. Defense of Cassie and everything. But I mean, I guess this trial is just going to be ongoing. I guess Cassie, like, kicked it off, right? Now it's just going to be all of the other charges and all the other stuff. Okay.

• 21:30Rayna Greenberg?

  Yeah.

• 21:31Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay.

• 21:31Rayna Greenberg?

So we'll cover it if we need to. Don't like to give a lot of light to it. Something a little lighter, Lauren Sanchez's bachelorette party in Paris, star-studded.

• 21:39Ashley Hesseltine?

This made me not want to do a bachelorette.

• 21:41Rayna Greenberg?

  Why?

• 21:42Ashley Hesseltine?

This gave me the ick about bachelorettes.

• 21:43Rayna Greenberg?

  What about it specifically?

• 21:44Ashley Hesseltine?

All of it. The, the, the bride tribe, which I didn't think you were supposed to say anymore, but, you know, that's what the whole headlines were. Lauren Sanchez's bride tribe. Let me ask you a question. Do you think that, and Katy Perry was there too, right?

• 21:59Rayna Greenberg?

  Obviously.

• 21:59Ashley Hesseltine?

Kim Kardashian, Chris Jenner. Do you think that because they went to Paris for however long, a couple of days, they consider themselves Parisian because they went to space for five seconds and consider themselves astronauts?

• 22:12Ashley Hesseltine?

  Are they Parisians now?

• 22:13Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, and Kim's been there. Kim's been there for like a week and a half.

• 22:16Ashley Hesseltine?

  Kim's also doing a trial.

• 22:17Rayna Greenberg?

Kim was like, let's just tag them both together. Like, Kim is doing her trial for her robbery, which occurred in 2016. I mean, one of the guys has Parkinson's dementia. These people don't even remember doing the robbery.

• 22:31Ashley Hesseltine?

  What?

• 22:31Rayna Greenberg?

It's been so long. There's like 12 people, 10 alleged people, only two they could prove were there. Out of the trial's 10 defendants, two had no choice but to confess because DNA exposed them. But it's been so many years. So Kim just tagged this on to the Bachelorette party.

• 22:49Ashley Hesseltine?

  Oh my god.

• 22:50Rayna Greenberg?

Her outfits were crazy. She's dripping in diamonds for the court case. And then Kris Jenner showed up. She brought her new face. She looks amazing.

• 22:58Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, I like her. I like her little haircut. If you guys don't follow Blakely Thornton, he is so funny. We need to get him on the podcast. He's like super outspoken. He's super funny. He's super original. But I just wanted to play a little snippet of him talking about The Bachelorette.

• 23:11Rayna Greenberg?

  Okay.

• 23:11Speaker 02

From Lauren Sanchez's Bachelorette party, it's like the Real Housewives of Hades. The perfect party for women whose souls are fueled exclusively by attention and tax loopholes. It is truly strange days when these women would come together to so publicly celebrate a union whose opulence was so clearly paid for by exploitation. Is sucking the teat of oligarchy and tacky outfits really that important to you?

• 23:34Ashley Hesseltine?

I mean, he just like went off. It was like tag after tag after tag.

• 23:37Rayna Greenberg?

  Oh, he's great.

• 23:38Ashley Hesseltine?

I know. Real Housewives of Hades.

• 23:43Rayna Greenberg?

Here's something funny, though, about The Bachelorette. I don't know if you know this. October Gonzalez, the new wife of Sanchez's NFL player ex, Tony Gonzalez. So her ex's new wife came on The Bachelorette.

• 23:56Ashley Hesseltine?

  What?

• 23:57Rayna Greenberg?

  Isn't that crazy?

• 23:57Ashley Hesseltine?

  No, I didn't know that.

• 23:59Rayna Greenberg?

So he's the father to her son, Nico, and he has a new wife, and she invited her on the trip. Isn't life crazy?

• 24:07Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah. Anyway, so I'm definitely not taking inspo from their little Bachelorette, especially not her outfits.

• 24:12Rayna Greenberg?

You're not taking me to Paris?

• 24:14Ashley Hesseltine?

What woman takes another woman to Paris?

• 24:18Rayna Greenberg?

  You should.

• 24:19Ashley Hesseltine?

No, you're gonna take us somewhere equally as fabulous. I won't give it away, but it's Dubai Beach, and I'm excited. I'm doing a couple of bachelorettes, okay? I'm doing a few. Okay, well, let's just talk about our partners and then we will get into it with Ashley. I'm telling you guys about Smalls. This is incredible cat food. So we love our cats and our cat owners, our childless cat ladies out there. My family has a bunch of cats and so we just think they're the funniest thing. Oh, my God, did you see Brenna? Brenna and Andrew Collins, she posted their cat Mango jumping up into their loft. They have like a loft in their, like insane.

• 24:54Rayna Greenberg?

They stayed with me and they videoed that cat jumping all over my house.

• 24:57Ashley Hesseltine?

It was like a D1 athlete. They have the craziest cats. So Mango is probably my personal favorite. This is our friend's cat that is now a New Yorker. Orange cats, orange cats are different. But we just think that they're so funny and they're such great companions. And you just really want to give them the best life they can and the healthiest food they can. And, you know, keep them healthy. And we just think it's really important when it comes to that kind of stuff. So that's why you should check out Smalls. So Smalls cat food is protein packed recipes made with preservative free ingredients you'll find in the fridge, delivered right to your door. That's why cats.com names Smalls their best overall cat food. To get 35% off plus an additional 50% off your first order, head to Smalls.com and use our promo code GGE for a limited time only. So they have all different flavors. You can find your cat's favorite flavor, of course.

• 25:41Ashley Hesseltine?

And your cat is going to love Smalls way more than their previous cat food. You can even do a taste test, put two bowls side by side and your cat's probably going to immediately go to Smalls. And this is a way that you can just help them, again, be healthier. Their coat is going to look better when you start feeding them better food. And even if your cat loves kibble, Smalls can just make the perfect topper as you transition them to a fresh diet. So people who make the switch to Smalls notice their cat has fewer hairballs, more balanced energy, a healthier weight, a softer and shinier fur coat and a less stinky litter box. So other cat food brands really are just not going to be the best for your cat. They fill their food with mysterious meat byproducts, artificial flavoring, preservatives with names you don't even want to try to pronounce. So if that sounds gross, imagine having to eat it every day for your poor cat.

• 26:22Ashley Hesseltine?

So after you switched to Smalls, 88% of cat owners reported overall health improvements. Such a big deal. The team at Smalls is also so confident your cat will love their product that you can try it risk free. That means they will refund you if your cat won't eat their food. So you guys can check it out and get healthier food for your beloved pets for a limited time only because you are a Girls Gotta Eat listener, you can get 35% off Smalls plus an additional 50% off your first order by using our code GGE. • 29:28Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay, let's get into it.

• 29:29Rayna Greenberg?

All right, guys, we are welcoming a very special guest today and a friend of ours that, she is a director and producer. She produced the Golden Globe Award-winning Borat Subsequent Movie Film, featuring Sacha Baron Cohen and the Emmy-nominated Showtime series, Who's America. Her new documentary is out now on HBO, Dreambreaker, A Pickleball Story. Please welcome to the show, Ashley Underwood.

• 29:53Ashley Hesseltine?

Thank you. What a flattering introduction. I was impressed with myself for a minute.

• 29:57Rayna Greenberg?

How do you go from Borat to pickleball?

• 30:00Ashley Hesseltine?

That's irrelevant. That's a, that's a good question. I, I actually just, I, I learned about a story in pickleball that I thought was really funny. Not, not funny funny, but it was, it's, it's basically like two Texas billionaires who are fighting to start professional pickleball leagues. So it had kind of like a best in show element, I thought. And I love, I'm a big Christopher Guest fan. I love that sort of humor. And so I, I just thought this is very in the zeitgeist. Pickleball's popular. I didn't want to do a story just about like, oh, the sport's popular, you know, and, and like an overview. I didn't want to make a Wikipedia page, you know, about something that's everybody's doing. And I was just like, oh, this is a fun way to talk about something that's in the zeitgeist that's popular, but it's a story. And I kind of knew it was going

• 30:45Ashley Hesseltine?

to have a lot of drama and a lot of funny characters because pickleball has, you know, they kind of, they, they rival Florida in like the, the amount of characters.

• 30:55Rayna Greenberg?

I mean, you opened the trailer with like pickleball nudists and I was like, I'm in.

• 30:59Ashley Hesseltine?

That is Florida. I know it goes without saying, but yeah.

• 31:01Rayna Greenberg?

  Obviously.

• 31:02Ashley Hesseltine?

And that actually, that was so funny because we had like a couple hours to kill that day and I didn't want to waste any time because you're paying crew. And I was like, I looked at the field producer and I was like, call this nudist colony because they have pickleball. See if they will let us come and film and they did. They were like, yeah, it's totally fine. So the documentary is great and You guys are friends, like longtime friends. Oh, yeah. Let's like, let's introduce you as like our friend. Okay, yeah. So Ashley and I have been friends since we went to Paris once. No, we were friends before that. We were friends before that, but we, that was like 2013. That makes us sound really cool, like, you know. It was like 12 years ago. We met in Atlanta. We did meet in Atlanta. Then we went to Paris on like a friend trip. I feel like that's when we solidified our bond.

• 31:44Ashley Hesseltine?

But yeah, we've known each other, it's like probably 12, 13 years. 12 or 13 years, yeah. From Atlanta. Yes. And now you're here. Now I'm here. I was here before I moved to Atlanta. I moved to Atlanta to go to grad school and then I moved back here. So. Okay. And you've been in media for a long time. You've produced Southern Charm also, or you worked on Southern Charm? I worked on one season of Southern Charm. Okay. My first and last reality television show that I will, I will ever work on, I think. It was really fun. I wanted to be in Charleston, actually. I just was like, okay, I had done Who Is America? And I hadn't had a lot of TV experience then. So I was like, okay, where can I go work?

• 32:25Ashley Hesseltine?

You know, what, what part of the country do I want to be in? And I was like, oh, I, I, I've only done on scripted. You know, I'm just going to go see if I can get on Southern Charm. I knew Shep and like some other people from the show. Yeah. So I, I lived there for three months and yeah, that was really interesting. I'm still really good friends with Whitney and his mother. Oh, my God, Miss Pat? And Shep I was already friends with, but Pat and Whitney I love. What do you feel like was, was there anything really surprising about working on reality TV that, or did, was it as expected? I, I think, well, after working with Sasha, that's so crazy. Like, that's like the bar for crazy. I mean, that it's like you were doing like 10 jobs, you know, like it's, and every day it's just, you know,

• 33:09Ashley Hesseltine?

oh, we have to go find this person. We need, we need like a, an unethical delivery guy, you know, who's going to deliver Borad's daughter in a crate, you know, and not ask any questions about, you know, if there, is there a live person inside there? We just need, you know, so. That's so true. I mean, it broke the mold in terms of every single thing in media and cinema. Yeah, yeah. So like, I mean, it's not reality TV, but there's a, there's obviously that reality element to it. But in terms of like shock or like working on Southern Charm for a season and being kind of surprised, I felt like. I had already had all the surprises.

• 33:41Rayna Greenberg?

  Totally.

• 33:42Ashley Hesseltine?

Okay, you're right. That's right. You start with Borat. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 33:45Rayna Greenberg?

  Isn't that crazy?

• 33:46Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, like usually I think we would build to Borat.

• 33:48Rayna Greenberg?

  To Borat, okay.

• 33:49Ashley Hesseltine?

But like I like started there. It was like being thrown into the deep end.

• 33:51Rayna Greenberg?

  Totally.

• 33:52Ashley Hesseltine?

And then I had to, then I dialed it back and like Southern Charm was like relatively tame.

• 33:57Rayna Greenberg?

Drunk Southern guys, you're gonna have this.

• 33:58Ashley Hesseltine?

You know, like you kind of know who you're filming with. You know what your schedule is. Like it's not this sort of guerrilla style like filmmaking that I was doing. The, the lodging was a lot nicer for Southern Charm than, uh, you know. With Sasha, it's like motel six in the middle of nowhere. Oh my gosh, it's part of the... Sort of road hotels. Like eating at Subway is a good day. Like it's super.

• 34:18Rayna Greenberg?

That's so funny. What season of Southern Charm was it?

• 34:21Ashley Hesseltine?

  Oh, I would say...

• 34:22Rayna Greenberg?

  Early on?

• 34:22Ashley Hesseltine?

  Season seven?

• 34:24Rayna Greenberg?

  Oh, later on?

• 34:25Ashley Hesseltine?

No, okay, here's, here's the thing. Who was on it? What women were on it? I feel like that's how we... It was the last season that Cameron, who I adore, and Chelsea. Yeah. I think it was their last season. Naomi, I think, was still on a season after. This is the only reality show I watched, by the way. Like I've, I've never seen, I don't do Housewives. I've never seen The Kardashians, but like I was always... Yeah. I can, I just get into Southern Charm.

• 34:48Rayna Greenberg?

It was a different kind of show because it really, we'll talk about other stuff besides this, but it spanned a huge age range. You had Catherine Dennis, who was like 20, to Thomas Ravnell and Miss Pat, who was in the 70s when the show started. And, um, male, female cast, which really broke the mold of me, really only had like singular sex casts.

• 35:06Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah. It's kind of like Friends, but like the reality version and it takes place in the South.

• 35:11Rayna Greenberg?

  Totally. I love the show.

• 35:12Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, I really love it too. But I'm, I'm trying to think, I was surprised that we, we were delayed filming. When I, I think we had to wait three weeks or four weeks and I was like, what is going on? Like we're all, all this crew is here. They're away from their families. We're just sitting around. And all the cast was renegotiating their contracts. So they kind of like boycotted, don't film during this time period. And evidently this happens every year. But the year that I was, like it was a particularly long amount of time, the year that I was there. And, um, so I just, I couldn't kind of, and Larry, my husband, was saying to me, he's, he's like, wait, what is going on? He's like, he's like, is this... Larry, my casual husband.

• 35:53Ashley Hesseltine?

We'll get to it. We'll get to it. But he...

• 35:55Rayna Greenberg?

He was, he's like, you know, he's like, is this the cast, is the, are they like Jennifer Aniston? Like the cast of Friends, you know, he's like re, like holding out, you know, not filming.

• 36:04Speaker 03

Kind of, I mean, like, they had an ensemble cast that really was the same mostly for like seven years. And I mean, if Shep doesn't come back, Craig doesn't come back, like, what show do you have?

• 36:14Rayna Greenberg?

What, yeah, I mean, I guess you could find other people to be drunk and overage in Charleston, but like.

• 36:19Speaker 03

  But they're like the.

• 36:20Rayna Greenberg?

  They're the main draw, so.

• 36:22Speaker 03

I don't, I don't know how much they make, but I remember, I remember hearing different salaries for different cast members. And it was significantly lower than I would have expected.

• 36:31Rayna Greenberg?

  Yes.

• 36:31Speaker 03

But then I guess what in reality TV people, you know, they, they can create a brand or a product or something.

• 36:38Rayna Greenberg?

  Right.

• 36:39Speaker 03

And I don't think Bravo or the networks have any stake in those.

• 36:42Rayna Greenberg?

  They do.

• 36:43Speaker 03

  Oh, they do?

• 36:43Rayna Greenberg?

So it happened with Bethenny Frankel, um, with Real Housewives of New York. And Bethenny Frankel, I've obviously used Real Housewives of New York to like blow up her brand Skinny Girl. And they did not have a stake in it at the time and she became like a hundred millionaire from this. And then Bravo started building in a percentage into the clause that.

• 37:00Speaker 03

  For like Loverboy?

• 37:01Rayna Greenberg?

Yeah, or stuff like that. And like when you think about Loverboy, which is the perfect example in Summer House, it's every single episode. It's so much product placement. I mean, no one would even know what that is unless it was on Bravo reality TV, you know? So yes, there's a clause where they take, they take money from you. Austin's Little Beer Company.

• 37:17Speaker 03

Craig, Craig, he was, he was so lovely. He's like such a charming, like nice guy. And there's, you've been able to see like his evolution, like in the show.

• 37:25Rayna Greenberg?

  Totally.

• 37:26Speaker 03

But when the season I worked on, like he wouldn't wake up, like we'd all be outside waiting and it'd be like Craig's asleep. And they're like, somebody go in there and like hand feed him an Adderall so he'll wake up. I think he called the cops on us one time. We were like, you, you're scheduled to film, like you, like we're not trespassers. Like we're your.

• 37:43Rayna Greenberg?

I, this is why I love our reality TV people, because you're like, what kind of person would do, the kind of person that makes reality TV great? Like a normal person that just wakes up and shows up on time. I don't want to watch them.

• 37:54Speaker 03

I'm too normal for reality TV.

• 37:55Rayna Greenberg?

  Me too, totally.

• 37:56Speaker 03

But some of the, you meet these people and you're like, okay, like they're good TV. This is, this is fine.

• 38:01Rayna Greenberg?

  Okay, so pickleball.

• 38:02Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 38:03Rayna Greenberg?

  Or do you play?

• 38:04Speaker 03

I do play, I'm not. Not that great. I got better during filming because I spent so many hours in the edit watching like professional pickleball. And then my group that I played with, they were like, are you taking lessons behind our back? You know, because your game is like, it's getting a lot better. And I, and I was like, oh, I must be like absorbing like skills just through like osmosis, through watching this in the edit like for hours on end every day.

• 38:26Ashley Hesseltine?

  Totally.

• 38:27Speaker 03

Yeah. So, um, but I, I do play, I'm playing this afternoon, but I haven't played in several months, probably.

• 38:33Ashley Hesseltine?

It really is crazy how it took off. And one thing that you talk about in the documentary is like, there is no barrier with age, with body type.

• 38:43Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 38:44Ashley Hesseltine?

With, I mean, being disabled or, you know, it's able bodied. Like, it's really like, anybody can play this sport. It's kind of like a beautiful thing.

• 38:52Speaker 03

It is a really beautiful thing. I, I love that about it. Like, it's like, some people are like, oh, this is the first sport I've ever been able to play with like my mom or dad or. Also, just by someone's physical appearance, it doesn't really give away like how athletic they are. Like, I played in a tournament once in Newport Beach and it was doubles. And there were these two girls who were playing against, and they didn't look like they were in great shape. And I was like, oh, we got this. And they kicked our ass. And I was like, oh, you really, this game, you, you don't know.

• 39:20Ashley Hesseltine?

I played last weekend. I'm gonna walk this, I held my nephew and watched other people play last weekend with my sister-in-law's family. They have, they live in a cul-de-sac and they have like a neighborhood court. They've like drawn at the end of the cul-de-sac where they set up two nets and you can't drive through anymore. And like all, all ages come out to play this. So it feels like it's a spectrum when you watch it from really kind of slow moving to like crazy back and forth. Is that accurate? Like, there's, the levels to me are pretty crazy.

• 39:51Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 39:51Ashley Hesseltine?

I guess that's with any sport, but like, it's kind of surprising to see the pros go at it. Yeah, like it's, that's a different vibe.

• 39:57Speaker 03

It's like dinking, which is like the most boring. Even the name sounds like, you know, like something boring.

• 40:02Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 40:02Speaker 03

And it's dinking and then like, and then you do these like firefight and they get really fast. So it's boring until it's suddenly like not very boring. It's like, you know, action packed.

• 40:12Ashley Hesseltine?

But I feel like it got really hot. So I was, we'll talk about ChatGPT later, but I was kind of, you love it. I was ChatGPTing, like, when did this come into existence? And then when did it get like hot? Cause like, really pickleball, we didn't really start hearing about it that much until like, yeah, until around COVID.

• 40:26Speaker 03

I started playing during COVID and I actually didn't really want to play. I was, I was with a friend of mine who, who loved playing and I, I was a tennis person. And she she had an injury or something. She couldn't play tennis. So I was like, fine, I'll do this pickleball thing. Like, I don't know what it is.

• 40:41Speaker 03

And I loved how I loved how social it was. I loved how easy it was to get a game together. You could just show up in Santa Monica, like Memorial Park, and you just have a bunch of people playing. We were, you know, you have industry executives there. They're like firefighters. There's all different types of people. So, yeah, and you just and everybody gets along and everybody plays and has a fun time. I don't know. I just feel like during COVID, it was obvious people were lonely. They were sitting in their homes like by themselves. And it gets people out of the house doing something. I don't know. I just think it's good. Maybe good for good for mental health.

• 41:15Rayna Greenberg?

And then it really it caught on. So it says in 2022, you have all these celebrities and pro athletes kind of like enter the game. LeBron James, Tom Brady, and Drew Brees began investing in pro pickleball teams.

• 41:25Speaker 03

Yeah, that was crazy, because when we showed up in like November 2021, everybody was so excited. It was at the Major League Pickleball Tournament in like, in Dripping Springs, Texas. And then everybody was so excited that there was a camera crew there that anybody cared, you know, and then cut to like, you know, a year later, it was like, call my agent, you know, like, if you want an interview with me. And that was crazy. But LeBron buying a team was like a true marker in the sport.

• 41:52Rayna Greenberg?

  Did you die?

• 41:53Speaker 03

  Crazy. It was so crazy.

• 41:55Rayna Greenberg?

So it got really big. And it's on it's on the season of Mormon Housewives.

• 41:58Speaker 03

  It is.

• 41:59Rayna Greenberg?

  Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

• 42:00Speaker 03

  Not Mormon Housewives.

• 42:03Rayna Greenberg?

I just had a stroke. Like, I was like, that's not what it's called. It's such a long title, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. But they have Macy from the show. She's hosting this pro pickleball tournament in Arizona. I mean, it's like, it's it's in the mainstream.

• 42:16Speaker 03

It's in every movie now. There's always like, it's in every rom com.

• 42:18Rayna Greenberg?

So we watched it and we loved it. We encourage people to obviously watch it. We love a sports doc, just in general. Did you so you're married to like a pretty famous TV person?

• 42:28Speaker 03

  I am.

• 42:30Rayna Greenberg?

We're talking, we're gonna talk about it because this is our pop culture.

• 42:32Speaker 03

  It's fine.

• 42:33Rayna Greenberg?

Why you question about it? And we you're married to Larry David.

• 42:37Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 42:37Rayna Greenberg?

  For five years.

• 42:39Speaker 03

Lucky me. It's been a challenge. No, he's wonderful. He's wonderful.

• 42:42Rayna Greenberg?

And we've spent some time with you two.

• 42:44Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 42:45Rayna Greenberg?

He been the best times of our lives.

• 42:49Speaker 03

He touched my shoulder. I was like, actually, I'm never gonna watch.

• 42:51Rayna Greenberg?

Well, we were making him laugh. And I was like, I peaked.

• 42:54Speaker 03

  That's so funny.

• 42:55Rayna Greenberg?

I was gonna ask you, did does he give you like feedback on the stuff you produce?

• 43:00Speaker 03

He, he does. He, he was like, I can't watch this pickleball film one more time. He's like, he's seen it like 15 times and he was like, it's, you know, he's like, it's great. It's funny, but he was like, I can't go to another screening, Ashley. But he does, he, he, he was helpful. He won't really interject with notes. Like he's just very, very particular. He would usually give like maybe just one note. And, which makes you take the note seriously. Because he's thought about it and been very careful and like considerate about it. He does whistle onto the songs. I brought him in with a composer because he's always whistling.

• 43:33Ashley Hesseltine?

  Oh, yeah.

• 43:34Speaker 03

Around the house and he's always boasting about his whistling skills. And I was like, well, let's put that to the test.

• 43:39Ashley Hesseltine?

Was he in the credits as like a whistler?

• 43:40Speaker 03

He buried deep, deep in the credits. And he's like, it's like, you know, Larry David, you know, whistler number one or something.

• 43:48Ashley Hesseltine?

  He's playing a theme.

• 43:50Rayna Greenberg?

  That is so funny.

• 43:51Speaker 03

  And we paid him $1.

• 43:52Ashley Hesseltine?

  I love that.

• 43:53Speaker 03

You have to give, I don't know, you have to pay something. So he, I think he made more on the film than I did, actually.

• 43:58Ashley Hesseltine?

That's so funny. Can you imagine?

• 44:02Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 44:03Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah, I mean, we're, we'll pivot, but I'm sure the main question you get asked to be married him is, is he like, in real life, is he is on?

• 44:10Speaker 03

I think so. He always says like, you know, I think he always thinks that he's, that it's two separate people, you know, and he's always kind of saying, you know, everybody thinks that I'm the TV Larry, but like, and I'm just sitting there thinking like, who are you kidding? Like, you know?

• 44:29Speaker 03

You kind of are TV Larry. So, um, I think the thing that doesn't come across in the show, he'll probably hate me for saying this because it's too earnest, but he's such a nice guy.

• 44:38Rayna Greenberg?

  That's our experience of him.

• 44:39Ashley Hesseltine?

I think he's like, the funny side of him is the same, right? But he's this like really kind, wonderful person.

• 44:44Speaker 03

Yeah, I, he's, he's pretty great. Like yesterday, we were driving back, we went out of town and we were, um, we were with the dogs and he was in a hurry to get home and I was like, well, we have to take them just for a quick beach walk or something. And he's like, we don't have time to do that. You know, and he's, he's in a hurry and I'm, anyhow, um, I was like, but look at their faces. You know, like, how can you, how can, you have to tell them that we're not going on the beach walk. I was like, I'm not going to be the one to tell them. And then he, so then he looks at them and then he's like, He's like, I can't do it. He's like, okay, fine.

• 45:16Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 45:17Speaker 03

And then we, you know, he, he sat there while we went on the beach walk. He like made some phone calls. He sat at a table. So I, I had to do the walk, but he was, I got him to agree to it. Anyhow, he's, he does have like, kind of, he has a good heart. And I think everybody who's worked on Curb, I think they, they have the same people who've worked on it. I think almost like, like every season, people come back. And in this business, I think that's pretty rare.

• 45:41Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 45:42Speaker 03

There's very little turnover. Um, it's like a family. It's really fun to go to set just to see like camaraderie and how much everybody, you know, loves going to work. And that, I think it's always, you know, it's kind of a top down thing. Like it flows from, from him and his attitude and his generosity. And he's going to hate this.

• 46:02Ashley Hesseltine?

  Wait, can I listen?

• 46:05Speaker 03

Like, don't tell people my secrets.

• 46:07Ashley Hesseltine?

Well, one time you, I posted this stupid Instagram story and it was this thing that happened like in Beverly Hills and I don't even think I lived here yet. And you were like, Larry and I were just like watching your story. And I was like, Larry laying in bed watching my stupid fucking Instagram story. Was it even funny? Um, was I being funny? Do you guys watch TV together?

• 46:27Speaker 03

We do, but we, we're very picky. Like we, we know, we, we, we have genres and things that we can both agree on.

• 46:34Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay. Okay.

• 46:35Speaker 03

We love a courtroom drama. We'll watch old John Grisham movies.

• 46:39Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay.

• 46:39Speaker 03

  We love a revenge story.

• 46:42Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay. Like what?

• 46:42Speaker 03

Like Tarantino. We love Tarantino movies.

• 46:45Ashley Hesseltine?

  Really like murder revenge?

• 46:46Speaker 03

Like the Count of Monte Cristo, like, like, like anything that's like, if I tell him, I'm like courtroom drama or revenge, like,

• 46:52Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay.

• 46:53Speaker 03

And he'll just go, okay, I'm in. What else do we watch together?

• 46:56Ashley Hesseltine?

What are they like, are you watching any series right now? And then I want to know what you're watching like solo. Like I just also, just in general, couples, I always want to know what their TV habits are.

• 47:04Speaker 03

Yeah, we definitely, I, I watch some trash TV that he was, is just like, no.

• 47:09Ashley Hesseltine?

Okay. What's your, what's your trash? You watch solo?

• 47:14Speaker 03

Probably, um, yeah, that's, that's probably it. Um, what else will I watch? I don't know. I get into, I'll wa- like, I watched some documentary about like, a tornado that like, you know, destroyed a town or something the other day and he's like, or like Twister. I don't know. I like, I like like, action movies sometimes or yeah, thrillers. Like, he's not into thriller really, but, you know, and he, he's either sports or like, World War II, like, history documentaries. And I'm just like, how many, like, haven't you seen all of them? Like, I think he's in the point now where he's re-watching World War II.

• 47:46Rayna Greenberg?

It's the only thing that my dad watches.

• 47:48Ashley Hesseltine?

  He watches it for nostalgia.

• 47:51Rayna Greenberg?

I want to relive it. Like, there's no new news about it. Like, aren't we done with World War II?

• 47:56Speaker 03

  Evidently not.

• 47:57Rayna Greenberg?

No offense to World War II.

• 47:58Speaker 03

Yeah, no offense to World War II.

• 48:00Ashley Hesseltine?

And then you're watching Jon Hamm's show. What is it?

• 48:02Speaker 03

Oh, uh, is it Friends and Neighbors?

• 48:05Ashley Hesseltine?

  Is that new?

• 48:06Speaker 03

That's the name of it, right? I don't know. I have such a hard time remembering the name because it's such a great show.

• 48:10Rayna Greenberg?

  Your Friends and Neighbors.

• 48:12Ashley Hesseltine?

Your Friends and Neighbors. It just came out, right?

• 48:14Rayna Greenberg?

It just came out. It's on Apple TV.

• 48:15Speaker 03

It's so good. And Jon Hamm is fantastic. It's a great role.

• 48:19Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 48:20Speaker 03

I think it's like his best role that he's ever had.

• 48:22Ashley Hesseltine?

  Oh, really?

• 48:22Rayna Greenberg?

Um, Mad Men is like a top five favorite show of all time for me. And so I cannot wait to watch this. Like, you saying it's his best role, I cannot wait.

• 48:30Speaker 03

Yeah, I mean, I, I like, I mean, Mad Men is obviously, it's, you know, it's, it's a classic. It's amazing. And he, his character, um, is amazing in that. But this is, this kind of gets him away from just being known for that role. It's as good. So, yeah. And Amanda Peet is in it. She's great.

• 48:48Ashley Hesseltine?

  Okay.

• 48:48Rayna Greenberg?

I can't wait to watch it. I'm getting back into Succession. So, Curb was my, Curb was my Delta Flight show and I finished Curb.

• 48:55Speaker 03

It's a great flight watch. It's perfect. You don't, you can just, you can just drop in any season, any show. And it's, and it's.

• 49:01Ashley Hesseltine?

Season five I was watching, like, on Delta.

• 49:04Rayna Greenberg?

I love it. So I finished it. I finished, I told Larry, I was like, I think number 10 is on Delta right now. He was like, I think it's 11, but.

• 49:10Ashley Hesseltine?

  10 is my personal favorite.

• 49:12Rayna Greenberg?

But I finished it on Delta.

• 49:13Ashley Hesseltine?

  The Fight Store, season 10.

• 49:15Rayna Greenberg?

It's so good. I had this moment yesterday. I was like, excited to like, blow your mind with a creative idea. And I was at the ice cream shop and there was four people in front of me. Getting samples and this went on forever and I'm seething inside like who decided that this that this like brand of restaurants that they just give out free samples forever until you buy something I just stand here and wait I waited 15 minutes for these four girls

• 49:37Speaker 03

  Crazy.

• 49:38Rayna Greenberg?

To try and the flavors were like it's the flavors were like chocolate chip cookie dough you know what that tastes like I'm seething inside I'm so mad I'm like this is the best curb skit like I'll tell Ashley it'll blow her mind she'll think it's so funny so I was telling a friend of mine and she sent me the clip right away Larry literally did it it was on curb

• 49:55Speaker 03

  Oh gosh.

• 49:56Rayna Greenberg?

Uh in 2017 the sample abuser.

• 49:59Speaker 03

Abuser yeah yeah yeah it's so funny.

• 50:01Rayna Greenberg?

Done like it's just like every time I have a wobbly table I'm like yeah it's just I can't help but think about it.

• 50:07Speaker 03

My mom will text me when she's at a wobbly table and she's like I'm like I'm like every time every time you're like this is gonna go on.

• 50:15Rayna Greenberg?

I feel like people must do this to you a lot like I have this great curb scenario and you're like great.

• 50:19Speaker 03

Now that curb is over like Larry used well he used to have a notebook and then now he learned how to use notes in his phone so now but he he would write down all of his ideas in this little notebook anytime just anything he would just immediately get out that notebook write an idea down and and I'm just like what are you gonna do now with all cause he still writes them down but I'm like oh my god.

• 50:38Rayna Greenberg?

  Publish the book.

• 50:39Speaker 03

Where are you gonna put them?

• 50:41Rayna Greenberg?

Oh no we need to know the ideas.

• 50:44Speaker 03

Yeah and we're all so trained to be like oh that's that's a good curb moment.

• 50:48Rayna Greenberg?

Literally I thought I was gonna blow your mind yesterday.

• 50:51Speaker 03

  I know.

• 50:52Rayna Greenberg?

Okay so I want to know what's next for you.

• 50:54Speaker 03

Oh I wish I don't know let me look into my crystal ball.

• 50:58Rayna Greenberg?

So did you love making this like producing like honestly like were you like this is felt so good and I want to keep doing something like this.

• 51:04Speaker 03

This was different because I've always worked for other people and other projects and this was uh this was so daunting it was three years and it's I like I raised the money for it I like hired everybody I you know was in touch with all the people who were kind of main characters or people in the film for several years then I don't know just even doing this composing stuff which was so fun and the distribution and the sales like I it was like going to film school I'm like okay I've learned every single part of this.

• 51:31Rayna Greenberg?

  Wow.

• 51:32Speaker 03

It's so difficult. It's so hard to sell a film. It's a miracle that anything gets made. And I think as a producer, I definitely wanted a reputation with any projects that I do of of getting something made, you know? So I feel like I have a lot of, you know, kind of like tenacity in that sense. I'm like, I'm, there were so many roadblocks. There were so many times that, you know, everybody wants to quit or give up because it's just a Sisyphean task of moving a boulder up a hill for years, the whole time. And you just think, you, you finish and you're like, do I really want to do that again? Like, and then, you know, and then you wait a couple of months and it's like you have amnesia and you're like, oh, that sounds.

• 52:12Ashley Hesseltine?

  It's like pregnancy.

• 52:13Speaker 03

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 52:13Ashley Hesseltine?

  Or giving birth, I mean.

• 52:15Speaker 03

  Exactly.

• 52:15Ashley Hesseltine?

  Yeah.

• 52:16Rayna Greenberg?

I'm so glad you said that because I think so many people are in the creative world in general, whether it's music or film or podcasting and they're just like, this is so hard to get it made. And it like even people with a lot of access like you, like it's, it's really hard. And so like, to just stay at it is like really important.

• 52:35Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 52:35Rayna Greenberg?

But like, I want to, I think it's validating for people that are like, why is this so hard? It's like, it's hard for everybody.

• 52:40Ashley Hesseltine?

Well, yeah, I mean, you hear, once a show comes out, then you hear the backstory. What, uh, nobody wants this, like Sarah and Aaron Foster. I think it took them five years. They're David Foster's kids. Like they had a brilliant idea. Our friend Serena Kerrigan, who was the show coming out, it said three years in the making. Like I remember reading The Help, one of the most famous books of all time, got rejected like 20 times or something. So it's just so important.

• 53:01Speaker 03

You really have to believe in yourself and have a conviction and just not listen to any, you have to almost be delusional.

• 53:07Rayna Greenberg?

You do. And I was talking to our agent, who's actually Larry's agent too.

• 53:12Speaker 03

  Andrew, I love Andrew.

• 53:12Rayna Greenberg?

Andrew, we love him. Shout out to Andrew. And he was saying like, it's hard to even get new people on new projects because everybody wants the top five people, whether it's directors, writers, actors. It's hard to get anybody any jobs.

• 53:23Speaker 03

I mean, nobody wanted me to direct this. I had to just like push my way through, like a bulldoze my way in.

• 53:29Rayna Greenberg?

  But I love that.

• 53:29Speaker 03

Um, and I was just like, it's, yeah, it's, if you even have like any doubts, it's like, there's no room, there's no room for doubt. There's no, you just have to charge through.

• 53:40Ashley Hesseltine?

  I have delusional confidence.

• 53:41Speaker 03

And hopefully you have nice people around you that say, you know, I don't know, supportive things.

• 53:45Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah. Well, you guys, check it out. Do you want to tell everybody where they can find it? Where they

• 53:51Speaker 03

Yeah, it's on Max right now. And then it's it's going to be on Roku. That that I think that press release or that deal was just announced.

• 54:00Ashley Hesseltine?

  Congrats.

• 54:01Speaker 03

  So, thank you.

• 54:02Ashley Hesseltine?

Yeah. Max, which allegedly is going back to HBO.

• 54:06Speaker 03

Yeah, I don't. Actually, I didn't know that until you told me.

• 54:10Ashley Hesseltine?

  They're going back. Thank God.

• 54:11Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 54:12Ashley Hesseltine?

  No one wanted Max.
