• 0:00Chris Williamson?

As much as I don't like Gary Vaynerchuk and I'm certain that he's gonna die young because he doesn't sleep enough, he uh, which like, tell me that's not the truth, by the way.

• 0:08Speaker 01

No, he, he looks so tired, like he's just constantly.

• 0:12Jonny?

In terms of comprehending a trillion compared to a million, a million seconds is 11 days. A trillion seconds is 36,000 years.

• 0:20Chris Williamson?

What's your thoughts on people's criticisms about Bezos becoming the first trillionaire?

• 0:25Jonny?

I mean, that, well, as we've just discussed, is mental.

• 0:29Chris Williamson?

Sands won Achilles since the last time that you spoke to him.

• 0:32Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 0:32Chris Williamson?

I made a meal of it, I think you would say. By way of scaling the what happened question, I can just say it once and then link people to this podcast, so.

• 0:42Chris Williamson?

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back. I'm joined by Jonny and Youssef from propanefitness.com.

• 0:49Speaker 01

Do you ever say ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls?

• 0:52Chris Williamson?

Uh, no, because this is an adult show for adult people, but we're also joined by.

• 0:56Speaker 01

  The explicit rate.

• 0:58Chris Williamson?

Yeah, yeah, of course it is. That's the number one reason, not having the explicit rating correct is the number one reason shows get taken down off the Apple Podcast store.

• 1:06Jonny?

  Wow.

• 1:07Speaker 01

Just accidentally slip in a, a C-bomb or something and then that's it.

• 1:11Chris Williamson?

Oh, this is made for children. Um, Jonny's brought his dog. Jonny, can we see your dog? Can we see Dexter? Look at you.

• 1:19Jonny?

  All black features.

• 1:21Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, he is.

• 1:21Jonny?

Can't see his face until he's looking to the side and then you're like, oh, right, that's his face.

• 1:24Chris Williamson?

  That's a dog.

• 1:25Jonny?

  Yeah, there he is.

• 1:27Chris Williamson?

  You're right, it is cinnamon.

• 1:28Jonny?

  It is cinnamon.

• 1:31Jonny?

  How's everyone doing?

• 1:33Chris Williamson?

Yeah, oh, okay. Sands, Sands won Achilles since the last time that you spoke to him.

• 1:37Jonny?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:39Chris Williamson?

  She's a.

• 1:40Jonny?

  Big event.

• 1:41Chris Williamson?

It's a, it was, it was, uh, impressive, yeah.

• 1:46Chris Williamson?

I made a, I made a meal of it, I think you would say.

• 1:49Jonny?

Is impressive how you felt at the time? I imagine not.

• 1:51Chris Williamson?

  No.

• 1:51Jonny?

You weren't like lying on the ground going. Fair enough. In full cricket whites.

• 1:56Chris Williamson?

In full cricket whites, yeah. So I might as well, by way of scaling what happened, the what happened question, I can just say it once and then link people to this podcast. So

• 2:08Jonny?

  Nice.

• 2:09Chris Williamson?

I decided to start playing cricket again after 12 years of absence. Went and netted at a local team, got picked, played last weekend. Went into bat and was playing pretty well. 20 not out. Couple of boundaries. Only one, only one chance that I, that I gave away. Pretty difficult. It was all right. Set off for a run, pushed off with my right foot and just felt like I'd been shot in the back of the leg, but no pain, which is like pretty weird. Set off, left foot, fine. Then went to put my right foot down and it was just like stepping on like a wobble board. Basically couldn't support my weight. So I think I've snapped my Achilles.

• 2:52Chris Williamson?

Then hit the deck. Then the bastards that I was playing against ran me out. So as I was on the floor with a snapped Achilles, they decided to run me out as opposed to just leaving me be. Which I was like, that, that, come on, mate. I don't, I've lost a lot of blood here. Missing an Achilles here. Then ended up at the RVI. Dad took me to the RVI. But the lack of pain was kind of quite weird.

• 3:22Jonny?

Could you walk, walk off though? Or do you have to get like, do you get stretchered off?

• 3:26Chris Williamson?

Like two arm, you know, like arm around either player.

• 3:29Jonny?

There's not like an on, an on hand doctor or physio or something there?

• 3:33Chris Williamson?

No, the closest doctor was Dr. Yusuf Smith.

• 3:38Jonny?

  Lescioni?

• 3:39Chris Williamson?

  The Lescob, yeah.

• 3:42Jonny?

Dr. Scott. I have a question.

• 3:44Chris Williamson?

  Hit me.

• 3:47Speaker 01

What's the sensation of being shot without the pain?

• 3:51Chris Williamson?

So like a, maybe more accurate would be like if someone took a baseball bat to the back of your leg. So it's like a jolt, it's like a percussion.

• 4:00Jonny?

  There's impact, sensation of impact.

• 4:03Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, because it is.

• 4:04Speaker 01

  Did you hear anything?

• 4:06Chris Williamson?

No, but I was, everyone was shouting at the same time because as you hit a run, you have to call to the other player.

• 4:12Chris Williamson?

Yeah, exactly. I'm pretty certain that it usually makes a fairly big crack when it happens.

• 4:20Speaker 01

  Yeah, it can do.

• 4:21Chris Williamson?

You can hang a car off it.

• 4:25Speaker 01

Odd. My favorite thing about the whole episode is, is turning up to hospital and just seeing someone in full cricket whites and thinking, oh, that's not Chris. And then slowly, oh, here we go.

• 4:36Chris Williamson?

Well, that was the thing, like, if you play pretty much any other sport, tennis, football, you turn up and you're in shorts. It's kind of easy, at least slightly inconspicuous, maybe he just dresses like that. But like full, full cricket whites, which were brand new because my old ones were from when I was like 20 years old. So I had to get cut out of the cricket whites. Once I had the boot on, I had to get cut out of a, a, a brand new set of socks to get to my foot. Cause my foot had swollen up. It's a big, big elephant foot.

• 5:09Speaker 01

  It's a fat foot.

• 5:10Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, very boggy.

• 5:12Speaker 01

  Boggy.

• 5:12Chris Williamson?

Very, how's the boggy? So yeah, just went in, a, a lady looked at me and went, oh, aye, you've, it's gone that. Cracker, cracker. Crack as you, and that was it. I was cinnamon from there on. They put me in a boot and sent me home.

• 5:31Jonny?

So if you squeeze where your Achilles tendon should be?

• 5:34Chris Williamson?

  Yep.

• 5:35Jonny?

Do you just feel, you just pinch skin?

• 5:37Chris Williamson?

How do you describe, cause you did that.

• 5:39Speaker 01

That, that's the test. So you have someone have their, their shin flat and you squeeze their calf. And if the foot goes, then the Achilles is attached. If you squeeze the calf and the foot's just, then bad news.

• 5:55Chris Williamson?

Yeah. Then it's cinnamon. But yeah, so the.

• 5:58Speaker 01

We're gonna have to explain the cinnamon thing.

• 6:00Chris Williamson?

It's just a video. So Dean, can you make the here I come, I am cinnamon clip appear right now, please?

• 6:16Jonny?

Is it, is it not a reference to something though? Is that not why the kid shouts it? I feel like he's not just making it up.

• 6:21Speaker 01

It's a second level thing. Is it copyrightable to include Here I Come, I Am Cinnamon in a podcast? I mean, Joe Rogan does it all the time, so.

• 6:29Chris Williamson?

  Don't care.

• 6:30Jonny?

Does he say, Here I Come, I Am Cinnamon in a podcast? I feel like he doesn't.

• 6:34Chris Williamson?

  I don't.

• 6:34Speaker 01

  No.

• 6:35Jonny?

  No.

• 6:36Speaker 01

He gets Jamie to pull up some.

• 6:37Chris Williamson?

  It's just a fat, it's a fat, it's a fat ginger German child running through a, a.

• 6:42Jonny?

  Shouting.

• 6:43Chris Williamson?

  Shouting.

• 6:43Jonny?

  Running at someone.

• 6:45Chris Williamson?

Here I Come, I Am Cinnamon. Uh, so yeah, that was, that was it, but it's the lack of pain, man. Like the, the fact that there was no pain and everyone, like a lot of people say it when it happens. Um, one of my buddies was playing badminton and snapped his and people didn't, they, they didn't take him to the hospital. Or he had to like convince them that something had happened because he was so calm.

• 7:04Jonny?

  Right.

• 7:05Chris Williamson?

Like, so he'd snapped his Achilles. Yeah, no, no, I'm, I'm, I'm being, Patricia, I'm being serious. Um, and then no one wanted to listen to him because he was just like, oh, if you've snapped your Achilles, you'd be in pain. But it, for anyone who's considering snapping an Achilles, your pain peaks at about four out of 10. And I'm pretty sure that that was because of the angle my foot was at in the car on the way to the RVI. Like, other than that, it was like three out, three or two.

• 7:31Jonny?

It's like the video, the video of the car accident. And the guy gets out and goes, I'm, I'm uninjured. I'm uninjured. And also just extremely calm, like his cars, is his car not on its side? And he's just.

• 7:44Speaker 01

Just the one in the UK, isn't it?

• 7:45Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 7:46Speaker 01

Yeah, I'm no anger, I'm uninjured. Are you okay?

• 7:50Chris Williamson?

What was that video that went viral last year? Was it like Jess Glyn?

• 7:55Speaker 01

  Who's your dad?

• 7:56Chris Williamson?

No, the one where a guy, a, a lorry was driving down the motorway.

• 8:00Jonny?

  Oh, yeah.

• 8:01Chris Williamson?

  And it sideswiped that.

• 8:02Speaker 01

  Ellie.

• 8:03Chris Williamson?

  Ellie Goulding.

• 8:03Jonny?

  Ellie Goulding.

• 8:04Speaker 01

  Goulding.

• 8:04Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 8:04Chris Williamson?

And Ellie Goulding's there and she's like, don't worry, I'll sing us back to health. Like.

• 8:09Jonny?

  Is that what she said?

• 8:10Chris Williamson?

  No.

• 8:11Jonny?

  All right, okay.

• 8:13Speaker 01

Cringiest thing she could ever say.

• 8:14Chris Williamson?

Yeah. She rocks up in a big Range Rover, but there's just like this guy driving down the motorway.

• 8:19Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, because he's just being pushed by a lorry.

• 8:21Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 8:21Speaker 01

  He's just sat there like.

• 8:23Chris Williamson?

And the lorry can't see because of the, how sheer the drop is.

• 8:27Jonny?

If you're in the car, there'd be initial fear, then anger, then just apathy.

• 8:32Chris Williamson?

  Irritation.

• 8:32Jonny?

  Eventually, when you realise.

• 8:33Speaker 01

I didn't believe the lorry driver because he got out and he's like. Oh, I didn't even see you. I didn't know. And you're like, hmm. He looks very much like Dave Benson. What's he called? Dave Benson Jennings or something? The one who did, yeah, Get Your Own Back and dumped people in the gunge and stuff.

• 8:51Chris Williamson?

I didn't know it's not at all. How, how is that? That's a reference. That's a reference from like 1995 that you've pulled out there.

• 9:00Speaker 01

The last TV show I've seen.

• 9:01Jonny?

I remember Get Your Own Back.

• 9:04Jonny?

I think he came to my freshers week, that guy, and did like a student version of Get Your Own Back where everyone got gunge.

• 9:10Chris Williamson?

  Did he?

• 9:11Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 9:11Chris Williamson?

  Gunk someone?

• 9:12Speaker 01

Wouldn't be surprised if Chris got him. Like.

• 9:14Jonny?

Yeah, be the sort of thing, sort of person you'd book, Chris.

• 9:17Speaker 01

You got the Wheeled Stern Raider, didn't you? Got no fans.

• 9:20Chris Williamson?

No, we didn't. We didn't get him. That was someone else. We got Gok Wan. We got, um, The Beast.

• 9:25Speaker 01

  Paul Chuckle?

• 9:26Chris Williamson?

No, I, so I refused to book the Chuckle Brother. Like, I just thought it was so sad. Try and tell me that you used to be able to book the Chuckle Brothers and now you book The Brother. And it's like, it's just, it's just constantly reminding him of his best mate's death. Like, I don't want to do that.

• 9:45Speaker 01

True. And like everyone who goes in the club goes, oh, well, what happened to Barry? Oh, he's died. Oh.

• 9:49Chris Williamson?

  Ah.

• 9:50Jonny?

Yeah. And it just becomes like a.

• 9:52Chris Williamson?

  Let's get selfie, mate.

• 9:53Jonny?

Everyone's been drinking for all day and then they end up, end up in this like really sad scenario in a club where.

• 9:58Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 9:59Jonny?

Everyone like remembers watching on TV and how it'll never be the same again and.

• 10:02Chris Williamson?

  Nah, not about that.

• 10:03Speaker 01

And they're all going to me.

• 10:08Chris Williamson?

That's why, that's why I didn't want to do it. So we went with, we went with Gok Wan and Phil Mitchell from EastEnders.

• 10:16Jonny?

  Oh, nice.

• 10:17Chris Williamson?

  Phil Mitchell was good fun.

• 10:18Jonny?

What do these people do when you book them?

• 10:20Chris Williamson?

Photos mostly. Gok Wan is a DJ and now you'd think fashionista guy, gay, Asian. You would just think it's like Spice Girls and Venga Boys all night long. You just think it's like.

• 10:35Speaker 01

  I bet it's like techno.

• 10:36Chris Williamson?

It was like really good house music. Like he's a proper DJ. Um, which I was super impressed by. Yeah, I know. I know.

• 10:46Speaker 01

He's, yeah, cause like if, if he's not basic enough to be like Spice Girls and Venga Boys, like he's definitely a very.

• 10:53Jonny?

  Right, high level guy.

• 10:54Chris Williamson?

Yeah, he's two orders of, of magnitude down from whatever you thought. So yeah, that was it. That was it. Got in, got in hospital. Um, and then there was some weird stuff. So I've been reached out by like tons and tons of people. And again, this is not the Achilles podcast, but just. It may happen to you. It may happen to you, like someone that you know, and it's pretty common injury. But I've had. Four people messaged this week since Saturday, saying that they've ruptured their Achilles.

• 11:22Speaker 01

Like they've ruptured it since Saturday.

• 11:24Jonny?

  Since they saw that you.

• 11:25Chris Williamson?

Yes. And that's two of them are in, one was in Sunderland and one was in the RVI, like on Tuesday. Um, so there's this new conservative management approach, which is what I got Youssef to do a literary review. But I tried to get Youssef to do as, as comprehensive a review of all of the material he could get from British Medical Journal. Under the table while I was speaking to the doctor. So he's like, right, mate. So do you fancy, uh, should we operate? Or do you want to go for conservative management? I'm like, Youssef, can you just check what is the long-term athletic function outcomes from it?

• 12:02Chris Williamson?

Um, yeah, yeah. I've, I've started active campaigns. So.

• 12:08Chris Williamson?

  How do I know?

• 12:12Chris Williamson?

So, long story short, at the moment, there's a trial going on to see if they can not open people up and they can do it just by pushing your foot down like a ballerina toe and allowing the ends of the tendon to grow back together naturally.

• 12:25Chris Williamson?

Long story short, I haven't found many people that have gone conservative management and don't have a caveat to their recovery. So, most people have said, "It's fine, but I have loss of function, loss of sensation, loss of mobility." Whereas, like Kobe Bryant operated on, David Beckham operated on, everyone else that I know that's a higher end athlete operated on, and none of them have caveats to their recovery. So, like, there's some risks with surgery. Obviously, you'll be open wounds. There's like blood thinners that I need to take for six weeks in case I get a blood clot, like other bits and pieces.

• 13:04Jonny?

Is it full anaesthetic or is it local?

• 13:06Chris Williamson?

I know. So, in the side of the knee, numb the whole leg, then local anaesthetic, then bottle of morphine to take home with me, which is hopefully not going to be needed, but...

• 13:24Jonny?

I think if you're given permission to take morphine, you're just like, well, like, you don't go, "Oh, no, no, that's irresponsible." You think like, "A doctor's told me to do this, so..."

• 13:35Chris Williamson?

So, I got a message off a guy in America and he was talking about how he was using Tylenol and one of those other, like, real popular opiates that are used by middle aged women.

• 13:47Chris Williamson?

And he, it was all these like, "Oh, I had Tylenol every eight hours and this Ostronzol every four hours."

• 13:54Speaker 01

  Americans love painkillers, though.

• 13:57Jonny?

That's different to, that's different to Nitol, isn't it?

• 13:59Chris Williamson?

  Yes, sadly.

• 14:01Jonny?

  It's not the same thing.

• 14:02Chris Williamson?

And then I was told, "Well, you're gonna get a small bottle of morphine to take home with you." I was like, "Hang on, why is America in the 21st century and I'm stuck in World War I? Like, what's going on here?"

• 14:13Jonny?

  Just profits, isn't it?

• 14:14Speaker 01

But they have like an opioid epidemic, opioid epidemic, like they're using, giving people oxycodone to take home, like...

• 14:21Chris Williamson?

That's it. That's what he said. That was the drug.

• 14:25Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 14:25Jonny?

Are they not called different things in the US? Because it's like the brand that they're called.

• 14:28Speaker 01

Yeah, it's like oxycodone or something, but I've had oxycodone after my ball surgery and it is very strong. Have you ever seen David after the dentist?

• 14:43Speaker 01

It's that it's so many viral video references today, but it's this kid who's come out of the dentist and he's he's like rolling his head around in the back of the car and like just shit talking his dad.

• 14:57Jonny?

And his dad's giving strong pain medication.

• 15:00Speaker 01

And his dad's just like, just filming him.

• 15:03Chris Williamson?

  Video.

• 15:04Speaker 01

And it was like that, like I was just smack talking to the nurses, like.

• 15:11Jonny?

  I would honestly.

• 15:12Chris Williamson?

  I would pay.

• 15:13Jonny?

I would love to see that footage.

• 15:15Chris Williamson?

  So much money.

• 15:15Jonny?

I think that would be the funniest thing. Because you've just had ball surgery and you're just being unpleasant to people.

• 15:22Speaker 01

Houston, bruv, I'll wreck you, yeah. No, to be fair, I don't think it was, I wasn't being aggressive with them. I was just very delirious.

• 15:31Chris Williamson?

  I'm fucking telling you, man.

• 15:35Jonny?

You should have a full-time cameraman following you around because the stuff that would get captured would be priceless.

• 15:43Chris Williamson?

That's Gary Vee. Become Gary Vee.

• 15:46Speaker 01

  He must have a full.

• 15:47Jonny?

Yeah, I think he does. Call D-Rock.

• 15:49Chris Williamson?

All that happens, all that Gary Vee's content is.

• 15:52Speaker 01

  He just lives his life.

• 15:52Chris Williamson?

Is just him existing, being Gary Vaynerchuk and him having a man with a lens pointed at him all the time.

• 15:59Speaker 01

Probably, probably quite a low effort life if you're just doing what you do normally.

• 16:03Chris Williamson?

Oh, hugely. But there's, as much as I don't like Gary Vaynerchuk and I'm certain that he's going to die young because he doesn't sleep enough. Like he, which like, tell me that's not the truth, by the way.

• 16:13Speaker 01

No, he, he looks so tired, like he's just.

• 16:16Chris Williamson?

  Constantly fucked, yeah.

• 16:17Speaker 01

Because I'd never seen any of his content before until you asked about him the other day. Or George asked about him and he just happened to be live and I quickly went onto the live and he sat there on a Skype, just like.

• 16:29Jonny?

  Oh, really?

• 16:29Speaker 01

I was just like, man, this guy needs to go and get some sleep. He's too busy grinding.

• 16:35Jonny?

George sent a video, shared a video that's like a parody of that guy. Just parody.

• 16:39Chris Williamson?

  Content.

• 16:40Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 16:41Chris Williamson?

  Content.

• 16:42Jonny?

Like I passed up Uber twice and I don't even, I barely even tell anyone about it. But I passed up an Uber twice.

• 16:48Chris Williamson?

I could have turned $25,000 into 300 million. So.

• 16:53Jonny?

  I don't even care.

• 16:54Chris Williamson?

I don't even care. Um, yeah. So like Gary Vaynerchuk, I didn't realize this, but all of his books, he just sits in a room with a ghostwriter for like a day and just talks at him. Then the ghostwriter goes away with 10 hours of Gary Vaynerchuk recording and converts it into a book.

• 17:12Jonny?

  Books it.

• 17:14Speaker 01

If you've ever read. That's impressive.

• 17:15Chris Williamson?

I've got a copy of Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook down there, uh, but no, I haven't read it.

• 17:23Jonny?

I've read, I think it's called Crush It.

• 17:26Jonny?

Which was quite, it's quite a tough read.

• 17:30Chris Williamson?

  Why?

• 17:32Jonny?

Uh, like it's good, but it's just, it is just a bit like just do loads of stuff on the internet for a very long time. And eventually you'll like earn an all right living from it.

• 17:43Speaker 01

So something that I would pay to subscribe to is Johnny Watson book reviews because Johnny's threshold for what is a useful book is so high. That it's fun. So like the, his review of the Grant Cardone 10x rule. He's going to spit out his drink.

• 18:00Chris Williamson?

What was that? I haven't heard this one.

• 18:04Jonny?

  It's just.

• 18:07Jonny?

So have you ever read the 10x rule by Grant Cardone?

• 18:09Chris Williamson?

  No.

• 18:11Jonny?

It's basically just like 10x everything that you think about. So if you think about something like 10x is.

• 18:18Chris Williamson?

  What's that?

• 18:19Jonny?

And the whole thing of like, well, precisely.

• 18:24Jonny?

And this, this whole thing of like taking, taking massive action. I, no one's ever been able to explain how that's distinct from just completing a task.

• 18:35Jonny?

Like, why is that, why is that any different? Is it just that it's a big, important task? Therefore the action's massive.

• 18:43Speaker 01

  Yeah, we're already doing action.

• 18:45Jonny?

Yeah, everyone's already just taking tasks all day. So it's just a case of picking the right ones to do. But everyone knows that already.

• 18:52Speaker 01

Isn't it because it makes you feel hardcore and grinding.

• 18:56Jonny?

Entrepreneur. As long as you're doing content about it.

• 18:58Chris Williamson?

When you've got, when you've got an American that does that, they come out like someone like Grant Cardone. But if it was someone from the UK that was doing that, they'd come out like, who's that brummy real estate trader?

• 19:12Speaker 01

Yeah, I was just thinking that, the property guy.

• 19:14Chris Williamson?

Yeah, he was on Mike Winnet's show, Sam something.

• 19:19Jonny?

  Samuel Leeds.

• 19:20Chris Williamson?

  Samuel Leeds.

• 19:21Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 19:21Chris Williamson?

  Samuel Leeds, like.

• 19:23Speaker 01

  All right, I'm Samuel Leeds.

• 19:25Chris Williamson?

  That's it.

• 19:26Speaker 01

I'm gonna buy some property today.

• 19:30Chris Williamson?

  That's it.

• 19:30Jonny?

  That's a very good accent.

• 19:32Chris Williamson?

  That's the equivalent.

• 19:33Jonny?

I've never, I see him pop up on YouTube quite a bit. I always assume that it's because you stuff watches him secretly. It's a bit of a secret.

• 19:39Speaker 01

Yeah, he's, he's good. He's, he's a bit, oh, you'd hate his accounting knowledge, though. His accounting advice. Someone's like, oh, worry about tax. Well, that's it. And he just gives accounting advice.

• 19:49Jonny?

  Oh, right.

• 19:50Speaker 01

  And it's very like.

• 19:52Jonny?

I think if you're not, ironically, if you're not a chartered accountant, you can just give accounting advice and there's no recourse. Like who's gonna, what's, what's gonna happen?

• 19:59Speaker 01

Same, same with medical advice. Like there's no, there's no medical body to be struck off from if you're just some bio. Nutter that's just, yeah.

• 20:09Jonny?

Weird, that isn't it? Unless you're actually qualified to give the advice, it's a free for all. So anybody can give the advice online apart from the people who are qualified to.

• 20:19Speaker 01

And they're all like, oh, I'm not, I'm not.

• 20:20Jonny?

Oh, I'm not getting involved in this.

• 20:21Chris Williamson?

Fucking don't do that, mate. No, I am not your accountant.

• 20:29Speaker 01

There's definitely a lesson in there.

• 20:32Jonny?

That it should be switched and you should be allowed to give medical advice online.

• 20:36Speaker 01

Just that taking advice online is a like.

• 20:40Jonny?

  Nightmare.

• 20:40Speaker 01

Yeah, like what, you know, someone's giving advice online, like what's their agenda?

• 20:44Chris Williamson?

  Very fraught. Very fraught.

• 20:48Jonny?

You've both seen. Just on the Grant Cardone, you've both seen the Jordan Belford Grant Cardone interview.

• 20:53Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 20:54Jonny?

If anyone's got like 90 minutes free and thinks like, I'd like to watch a bit of YouTube. It's just some of the most like awkward, uncomfortable, two fairly big names.

• 21:06Jonny?

Just, he's just sat there like someone's going.

• 21:10Chris Williamson?

I thought Grant came out of that really badly. Like Jordan, Jordan's supposed to be this, Jordan has lived the life that Grant is pretending to live. Like this big dick, high money, status, all the birds, all the drugs, this sort of thing. And Grant just kept trying to one up him. And to his credit, Jordan just played the host role. He was like, yeah, oh, okay, okay, okay. Like, but try and ask a question, try and tie him down to a point. And then like you say, Grant, I can kind of see reflecting on that interview. I can now guess what the book's about because it's, it's very.

• 21:49Speaker 01

  Substance list.

• 21:49Chris Williamson?

Yeah. Have you seen those like those fake martial arts masters that do like the touch of death? And then like five people fall down on the other side of the room. It's, it's kind of a little bit like that. And then putting him in a room with Wolf of Wall Street was like when you see those guys go in the ring with a UFC fighter. And they just get their face caved in.

• 22:11Speaker 01

There's a huge cult following behind these people because even the students of them, it's not like they're paid to believe it. But they really buy into the whole thing like, oh, this is the guru, this is the master. And they, and then they defend him from, and if there is a fight, they go, oh, it's because of the bad energy in the room. And it disrupted the like conduction of the waves and.

• 22:29Jonny?

He does like 10x, 10x conferences that are huge, that are done in stadiums in the US. He fills like football stadiums with people. And it's a big like, I think he had Floyd Mayweather there.

• 22:41Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 22:42Jonny?

  Last time.

• 22:42Chris Williamson?

Yeah, I've seen him go on stage with him.

• 22:45Jonny?

Yeah, but it's just when Jordan asks him about like, how does like Cardone Capital work? And he just doesn't really answer the question. Or like, how do you sell? And he just doesn't, also doesn't really answer it. And then Grant just accuses him of being on drugs. And that's just the thing that he does then. Like, oh, you were, you were on drugs, so obviously it worked for you. He's had a film made about him.

• 23:07Speaker 01

He's like a military fighter jet. And like a plane, like a Boeing plane that someone's just painted like dark green.

• 23:17Chris Williamson?

It is. Oh, man. I don't know. It's weird, right? Because these people, unless someone brings them down to earth, they're just going to be able to continue floating through life, presuming that everything's fine. And maybe everything is fine. Maybe Grant Cardone isn't doing anything wrong, but it kind of feels like he's a bit of a dick.

• 23:39Jonny?

It's hard to say, isn't it? It's hard to say whether any company is or isn't doing anything wrong. Because people have strong, like on Amazon, for example, people have opinions that Amazon are doing things that are wrong. Like they underpriced things with their white label products and all that sort of stuff.

• 23:53Speaker 01

So, yeah, and the people who are losing with Amazon are not the consumers, that it's more the other suppliers. With Grant Cardone, I think the people who are losing, based on Mike Winnet's experiments, Chris, you spoke to him on the podcast a while ago.

• 24:07Chris Williamson?

  Yes.

• 24:09Speaker 01

He just goes and buys all these like make money online schemes and just sees if they work. And it's like, if someone has made a lot of money from the program, great, you know, there's proof of concept. But if not, and they're just being ascended through this pyramid scheme, because there's stooges in the stadiums as well. Like he employs people to, but well, this isn't just for legal reasons. This isn't necessarily Grant Cardone. This is the person who was in the entrepreneur.

• 24:37Jonny?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 24:38Speaker 01

Yeah, had stooges in the audience, being like, yeah, I bought this and it's been great. And oh, I'll buy it too. And yeah, me too. And they're all stood like in, spread around the audience. Very clever.

• 24:50Chris Williamson?

  It's mental.

• 24:52Jonny?

I'm sure, though, that he must have thousands of people who are happy listeners. And that's like the balance, isn't it? It's hard to.

• 25:00Chris Williamson?

So Mike hasn't found that, this is the kind of canary in the coalmine test. Mike hasn't found a single person who's made money from Grant's course, who isn't a reseller of Grant's course. The only people he's found that make money from it are people selling the course on how to make money from it.

• 25:21Speaker 01

  Right.

• 25:21Chris Williamson?

Which is, is a pyramid scheme.

• 25:25Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 25:27Chris Williamson?

Avon. Is Avon a pyramid scheme?

• 25:30Jonny?

I think all these things are grey areas and quite hard because there was that guy who, that documentary called Betting on Zero.

• 25:38Chris Williamson?

  Yes.

• 25:39Jonny?

Where that guy was convinced that Herbalife is a pyramid scheme, so he just shorted it with his hedge fund.

• 25:44Chris Williamson?

  You know.

• 25:44Jonny?

And just held a huge short position.

• 25:46Chris Williamson?

So you know that that guy, ah, what's his name? What was the guy's name that did it? I'm gonna have to get it up.

• 25:50Jonny?

  I can't remember.

• 25:51Chris Williamson?

He's made the most money, the best trade in history this year.

• 25:59Speaker 01

Is it on Wall Street Bets?

• 26:01Chris Williamson?

No, it's not. Bill Ackman. Okay, so.

• 26:04Jonny?

  Oh, right, yeah.

• 26:05Chris Williamson?

Bill Ackman, um, this year decided that he was going to take out a very specific type of, um,

• 26:14Chris Williamson?

insurance against, there it is, 2.6 billion big short. So it's called like the new big short, basically. Hedge fund chief bets on stock market recovery after profiting from coronavirus sell-off. In late February, Bill Ackman began worrying about the approaching coronavirus pandemic. He was concerned that he contemplated selling all the holdings of the investment group he founded almost two decades ago. Instead, working from his study from home, Mr. Ackman made a series of trades designed to hedge Persing Square's portfolio. That is to protect it in the event of a market sell-off. Within a month, the trade had returned $2.6 billion of profits,

• 26:55Chris Williamson?

captivating the hedge fund world and thrusting one of its most controversial stars back in the limelight.

• 27:01Speaker 01

What was the size of the trade?

• 27:03Chris Williamson?

Uh, I'm trying to see it here. It doesn't really seem to have.

• 27:06Jonny?

  It's gotta be fairly weighty.

• 27:07Speaker 01

Life, like turning up to your desk and being like, oh, I'm a bit worried about this impending coronavirus pandemic, so I should maybe do something to hedge my portfolio against it. Yeah.

• 27:22Chris Williamson?

  Unbelievable.

• 27:22Jonny?

  Paid off though, wasn't it?

• 27:24Chris Williamson?

Unbelievable. Uh, and the guy that was, the person featured in the big short,

• 27:33Chris Williamson?

the guy that Christian Bale. Yeah, that Christian Bale played. Um, it's basically been compared to his trade, except for the fact that Bill Ackman.

• 27:43Chris Williamson?

  Yes.

• 27:43Jonny?

  Michael.

• 27:44Chris Williamson?

Michael someone. Um, except for the fact that Bill Ackman did his in a month.

• 27:50Jonny?

So hold on, so he predicted the coronavirus and so put on a short position.

• 27:54Chris Williamson?

No, he just saw the coronavirus in early February and predicted that the impact of the coronavirus would be bigger than most people were going to expect then.

• 28:03Speaker 01

Right, don't we all wish we'd shorted in February?

• 28:07Chris Williamson?

And then gone long Tesla in February because it's four times the stock price now.

• 28:13Speaker 01

  It's insane.

• 28:14Jonny?

It's why these people are billionaires, isn't it?

• 28:16Chris Williamson?

Why is that, why is that happened, Seth? You had an interesting insight, you said kind of like market sentiments become decoupled from value.

• 28:23Speaker 01

Yeah, exactly, that you've got companies like Tesla that have almost become separate, they've become completely decoupled from the stock price. It's no longer about the valuation of the company, it's just like, well, screw it, because the whole market is completely irrational now. The index is just unpredictable with like more and more people are becoming YOLO traders and sentiment is now just becoming the like, I'm sat at home, I'm wound up, I'm just gonna start trading stuff like here's Elon just tweeting illegal stuff about his stock prices. Oh, he's on Joe Rogan, here he is smoking a joint, like he's cool, okay.

• 29:00Chris Williamson?

  Left that on him.

• 29:01Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 29:02Jonny?

Didn't he tweet something saying like Tesla's underpriced at the moment?

• 29:06Chris Williamson?

Tesla's stock price too high, IMO.

• 29:08Jonny?

Too high, that was it. Christ.

• 29:10Chris Williamson?

Lost 20%, of his stock price.

• 29:13Jonny?

How's there a recourse for stuff like that?

• 29:15Chris Williamson?

But he got taken off the board.

• 29:17Jonny?

  Right, because of that tweet.

• 29:19Chris Williamson?

  No, before that tweet.

• 29:21Jonny?

But surely is that not still some kind of like market rigging or like?

• 29:26Speaker 01

Well, he's free now because if he's off the board, he can say what he wants, but people still see him as the head of the.

• 29:31Jonny?

He must be a fairly major shareholder in it though.

• 29:35Jonny?

Surely he must own a good percentage of it.

• 29:36Chris Williamson?

Someone that knows, tell us how it works, please, in the comments below.

• 29:41Jonny?

I imagine Elon knows how it works.

• 29:43Chris Williamson?

Elon does know how it works, but then also I don't think that he gives one fuck.

• 29:49Chris Williamson?

I don't think he cares. He's just sold all his possessions because they're an attack vector.

• 29:54Jonny?

  I know, that's brilliant, isn't it? I think that's brilliant.

• 29:59Speaker 01

  He's gone full Alex Beck.

• 30:00Jonny?

When Rogan asked him that and he was like, they're on a tech vector. Like, that is a man that's just on a different, he's in a different world to everybody else.

• 30:09Chris Williamson?

  On a separate level.

• 30:09Jonny?

Like, I have to have a Tesla for obvious reasons, for testing.

• 30:14Speaker 01

That's why his opinions on aliens and living in a simulation and stuff, I'm like, do you know what? He's probably thought about it.

• 30:22Chris Williamson?

He's done the work, hasn't he?

• 30:23Jonny?

There's an interview with him where he's like, he talks about how he's frustrated that he probably, he probably won't be alive by the time we get to Mars.

• 30:33Jonny?

It's crazy to have such a, so many levels of Maslow's hierarchy sorted that the thing you think about on a daily basis is like, building roads under the surface of the earth to sort out congestion and getting the human race to Mars.

• 30:48Chris Williamson?

There's a video that's pretty cool for, if people want to watch it, where him and Jay Leno get in a prototype of the Cybertruck. Have you seen this?

• 30:57Jonny?

  I don't know.

• 30:58Chris Williamson?

So they, in LA, Elon Musk turns up outside with a Cybertruck. Jay Leno's, it's like Jay Leno's car garage thing. He, it's kind of like Top Gear, but on YouTube. It's pretty good. And then they take one of the tunnels, like Boring Company tunnels, for a mile in the Cybertruck and then it like, they just start in the middle of some car park and then arrive in, whatever it is, like SpaceX's offices, essentially. Take this huge elevator up by like 500 feet when they get to the end of the tunnel.

• 31:34Jonny?

And is that real, that tunnel?

• 31:36Chris Williamson?

  Yes.

• 31:37Jonny?

  Right.

• 31:38Chris Williamson?

Well, I mean, what do you mean?

• 31:39Jonny?

I didn't know he'd actually built any, like, there is a legit tunnel.

• 31:43Chris Williamson?

Actual tunnel, which is a couple of, maybe a mile long or a couple of miles long.

• 31:48Jonny?

  Right.

• 31:48Chris Williamson?

Into LA, you drive in on one end and get an elevator, a car elevator up at the other end. And it actually happens and it fits a Cybertruck in.

• 31:58Speaker 01

I hate to be the legal team, wouldn't you?

• 32:00Jonny?

  Oh, God.

• 32:01Speaker 01

Like, to get the, whatever planning permission you need to borrow.

• 32:05Chris Williamson?

Apparently you don't, apparently you don't need any.

• 32:07Jonny?

  Because it's not, it's underground, isn't it?

• 32:09Speaker 01

  It's not owned by anyone.

• 32:10Chris Williamson?

  It's like.

• 32:10Speaker 01

How far underground do you need to be where?

• 32:12Jonny?

  Well, that's the question.

• 32:13Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 32:13Jonny?

Like, do you own the ground under your house? Or not? I'm sure again, someone will be able to answer this question.

• 32:18Chris Williamson?

I think that the, the big thing here is it's the same as everything that happens. When technology moves as quick as it does, it outstrips the ability to litigate against it. It's like, until someone had the ability privately to build a tunnel under LA, there didn't need to be any laws about it. It was the same as in New York.

• 32:38Speaker 01

  I suppose that's why Facebook.

• 32:40Chris Williamson?

But in, in Manhattan, they were selling the airspace. So they were selling the, um, square footage directly above properties. And that was like the boon in Manhattan.

• 32:53Speaker 01

Creates a law around it. Well, like Facebook and Google and all these companies that are now like in Senate. And when Zuckerberg was a couple of years, last year or whatever. I guess, yeah, like this is them trying to catch up. And then you've got all these like fuddy duddy Senate members that are like, so if I'm using the Facebook, do I need wifi?

• 33:15Jonny?

It was, I think some of them asked, you know, um, Bezos a question. I can't remember what it was. I just, like, this guy asks Jeff Bezos a question that he's kind of put like a morning of thought into it. And you think this man really, really understands the subject you're asking him about. And you're hoping they're like. Duck and dive and catch him out. It's just not gonna work, is it? Like, what, let's just not bother with any of this, because when you've got like Tim Cook from Apple, Jeff Bezos, Zuck, and like whoever they have from Google, like, who's gonna win?

• 33:49Chris Williamson?

Do you know, do you know when you watch a toddler play fighting with his dad on the bed? And the dad's on his, the dad's on his knees as well, and he's like, got his hands up, kinda like this.

• 34:01Jonny?

  Pretending.

• 34:02Chris Williamson?

And the toddler's like, ah, and then the dad kind of, oh, falls over. That's exactly what it was like. There's a new Sam Harris. I've been really, really impressed with his podcast recently. The Can We Pull Back From The Brink? And I know tons of people that I sent it to went and listened to it and really enjoyed it. Um, there's another one which is significantly more dark, but it's about the current internet epidemic, the, the world's worst epidemic about child pornography online.

• 34:31Chris Williamson?

And basically, he, uh, he brings up this senate meeting where he's talking about just how far lawmakers are behind the technology and what they need to be able to do. And he refers to it, he says, you've got this bunch of geezers up there at the top, trying to cross-examine some of the smartest people on the planet when they can't even unlock their iPhones.

• 34:53Speaker 01

Oh, God. I like Sam's use of geezer there.

• 34:57Chris Williamson?

  It's so good, isn't it?

• 34:59Jonny?

I can imagine him saying it as well.

• 35:01Chris Williamson?

It's amazing. It's so good. Fucking geezers. Remember when we went to Iceland and we saw some geezers?

• 35:09Jonny?

  Actual geezers.

• 35:10Speaker 01

  It was eggy.

• 35:12Jonny?

  Very eggy.

• 35:12Chris Williamson?

  Egggy bread.

• 35:14Jonny?

  Very cold.

• 35:15Chris Williamson?

If you're considering, if you're considering going to Iceland, it's very sulfury. Everything's just quite sulfury, isn't it?

• 35:22Jonny?

Smells of egg, the water in the showers smell of egg, and everything's extremely expensive and extremely cold.

• 35:29Speaker 01

It's when you start in, like, having to crouch in an eggy shower, nursing your meningitis and your, your shindog.

• 35:38Jonny?

  And your wallet.

• 35:40Speaker 01

  And your wallet.

• 35:40Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 35:41Chris Williamson?

With sensation only in one leg.

• 35:44Jonny?

Went to the corner shop, the cheapest thing to buy was Lucky Charms and a full Domino's pizza. And that's all you can eat first. Or you go to like the local Mexican restaurant and have to like take out a payday loan to get the, to get a side.

• 35:59Speaker 01

But then you have some salty licorice in a big packet and it's all okay.

• 36:03Chris Williamson?

  Um.

• 36:04Jonny?

  That's Skia yogurt, man.

• 36:05Chris Williamson?

It's so good, isn't it? I, have you tried that Lindal's?

• 36:09Jonny?

I've not, no, I've not. It looks good though. They're too, they're too small for me, Chris. That's the main objection.

• 36:14Chris Williamson?

  No.

• 36:14Jonny?

Do they do them in larger tubs?

• 36:16Chris Williamson?

Uh, they do not, no. However, Allah have started to do a, an equivalent, basically, which is again another sort of 20% larger. But dude, the macros on it, there is some wizardry going on there. Or we're going to find out in two years' time that they've done a VW and just been lying about the emissions.

• 36:36Jonny?

It's a, did that happen to Quest? I think Quest like misstated the calories on the, on Quest bars for a while or something. Cause of net carbs or fibre or something like that. Um, but yeah.

• 36:48Chris Williamson?

There's a backdoor where you can actually revert the carbs as this.

• 36:53Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 36:54Jonny?

Yeah, you can, you can fill in a form and you get to claim all the calories back. You can submit it to, to when you go out for dinner, like, you know, does this apply? I'm sorry, you know, that was a, ran out.

• 37:06Speaker 01

Um, so it's a discount code from wish.com and yeah, it, it was a technicality on it, on the like oligosaccharides or something.

• 37:13Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 37:14Speaker 01

Actually, this is only carb if you do this. But then if you make one little break on the molecule, then it's very naughty.

• 37:20Chris Williamson?

Yeah. And everyone, everybody, meanwhile, everyone's gaining weight because of Quest bars.

• 37:26Jonny?

If anyone's tracking is that precise, like, cause the thing about tracking is it's, it's all just arbitrary anyway.

• 37:32Speaker 01

Even with weight in the gym, which is amazing. So there's a, there's a gym that I think it's techno gym plates where I was looking at the calibration. It's like 20% or something, or 10%. And so you're like, well, that could be. Two hundred kilos on the bar and it could be anything from one eighty to two twenty.

• 37:50Jonny?

Mm hmm. Yeah, it's fine when you like sub a hundred, isn't it? And it's nothing.

• 37:54Speaker 01

And then it starts to rain.

• 37:55Jonny?

Yeah, but as soon as you start getting up to some big numbers, it's like someone's gonna have a real accident here.

• 37:59Speaker 01

If we're not. Cause it was always the case where like you'd you'd go to a different gym and you'd either hit mad PBs. Or you would be like, oh my God, I'm really struggling today. Like.

• 38:10Jonny?

It's on the on the cable stuff where like in one gym it says thirty. And then another gym is thirty and it's like immovable and you're like surely the the thirty it doesn't mean anything. It's just an arbitrary. It's just a relative measure.

• 38:21Speaker 01

  Thirty units.

• 38:22Chris Williamson?

It's it's only useful to the people that go to that gym.

• 38:26Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 38:26Chris Williamson?

It's just a way for you to anchor how difficult that set's going to be.

• 38:30Speaker 01

I'm a believer without that gym.

• 38:32Chris Williamson?

I am a believer either. Um, but Gold Star is a perfect example of that, man. Like when you've got weights that are older than some of the people that are lifting them.

• 38:39Jonny?

  And there's. Older than time.

• 38:40Chris Williamson?

Actual chunks of matter missing from them. It's like you're always going to feel like you're able to lift more in that gym. Because a fifty is like a thirty five.

• 38:52Speaker 01

It's very clever. It's consumer lock in. It's the same way that one password or last pass like. Keep you locked into their system because there's no export feature. So you can't then export your training data outside of that gym because you're like, well, it's all just relative progress.

• 39:06Jonny?

I love that. That's obviously a big issue for you, isn't it? A big like. If someone described like describe your top five top what is it would be the fact that.

• 39:13Speaker 01

  Consumer lock in.

• 39:14Jonny?

  Have an export feature.

• 39:16Speaker 01

So Chris had an absolute um heinous situation with this. I tweeted one password about this. Because I'm not going to make any kind of causative claims, but Chris had one password. Cancelled his membership and then the next day, what happened?

• 39:34Chris Williamson?

You, Google must have some sort of search function. Where they look for phishing sites and forums that are publishing. Usernames and passwords that you that tie in with what you have. Cancelled la- uh, one password and it was that night, like within hours. I got a warning that eighty eight of my passwords were now visible online. I'm like, does it just?

• 40:02Jonny?

  What? Just from Chrome?

• 40:04Chris Williamson?

So Google gives you a warning. So as you go to auto fill stuff in, it pops up and says this many of your passwords are this, which 88 passwords that you need to go and change manually is a task that took weeks.

• 40:18Jonny?

Do they tell you which ones?

• 40:20Chris Williamson?

  Yes, yes, yes, yes.

• 40:21Jonny?

  Oh, they do. Right, okay.

• 40:22Chris Williamson?

Yeah, well, otherwise, how would you know?

• 40:24Jonny?

Well, I don't know, because I feel like it's not really Google's responsibility.

• 40:27Chris Williamson?

  I know. I couldn't believe that.

• 40:29Jonny?

For them to provide that kind of service for free, for no reason, because one password's gone, oh, well. Apple are launching that soon. I think it's called like Apple Watchtower or something. Yeah. Watchtower. Maybe that's what. Tim Cook at the top with a telescope. But yeah, that is.

• 40:53Chris Williamson?

I smell the blood of an insecure password that only has three special characters in it.

• 40:58Jonny?

Ben sent me this thing recently about the, because is Apple valued at a trillion dollars?

• 41:04Chris Williamson?

  I don't know.

• 41:05Jonny?

Wouldn't be surprised. Let me see if I can, I can find this. While you're finding that. Here we go. And I've got it. I've got it. So in terms of, in terms of comprehending a trillion compared to a million. So a million seconds is 11 days. We've heard this before. A million seconds is 11 days. A trillion seconds is 36,000 years.

• 41:31Jonny?

Not really just, because I think there was a time, this might be wrong, but I think there was a time where Apple had like a trillion of cash or something. Is that right?

• 41:41Chris Williamson?

  Really?

• 41:42Jonny?

They had more cash than like the national debt. Yeah, something like that. Maybe that's wrong. Maybe it's not.

• 41:48Chris Williamson?

So if someone had, if someone had just said to Tim, listen, mate.

• 41:52Jonny?

Come on, mate. I give over. Yeah.

• 41:54Chris Williamson?

  Transfer us.

• 41:56Jonny?

  Give us a quid.

• 41:58Chris Williamson?

What's your thoughts on people's criticisms about Bezos becoming the first trillionaire?

• 42:04Jonny?

Yeah, so Apple, according to Forbes, as of July the 9th, valued at 1.6 trillion.

• 42:12Chris Williamson?

Which is nearly as much as what Bezos is going to be worth in a year or two's time.

• 42:17Jonny?

He's going to be worth a trillion.

• 42:18Chris Williamson?

He's going to be the world's first trillionaire.

• 42:22Jonny?

I mean, that, well, as we've just discussed, is mental.

• 42:28Jonny?

  But I think, I don't know.

• 42:29Chris Williamson?

A lot of people don't like the fact that one person holds so much wealth. And then there's like a ton of criticisms about like Jack Dorsey gave away. I think like thirty percent of his shares or thirty percent of his net worth or something to charities. So they're basically accusing him of not doing enough philanthropy.

• 42:49Jonny?

I think he does quite a bit of philanthropy.

• 42:51Chris Williamson?

  Bezos.

• 42:52Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 42:54Speaker 01

There is a point where you've got that much net worth that you can give away such a high percentage and it has no material impact on your quality of life. Like there's only so big a house you can get.

• 43:03Jonny?

Yeah, yeah. On that Netflix explained thing, they talk about, I used to think it is, they talk about billionaires. And how like, once you cross a cross a certain wealth threshold, the you gain so much more wealth from the wealth itself that it becomes out of control.

• 43:21Chris Williamson?

Just like some interest or whatever.

• 43:23Jonny?

Like, I think something like, it was hard, it's very hard for a hundred million to not become a hundred and ten million.

• 43:30Jonny?

Which is ridiculous, isn't it? When you, so then, then you may think that you've got a billion to not turn that into one point five billion over time because of just percentages and how things work.

• 43:40Speaker 01

Have you heard of that film where you, someone has like ten million pounds or something and they have to spend it by in twenty four hours?

• 43:46Jonny?

  No.

• 43:47Chris Williamson?

  No?

• 43:48Speaker 01

And, and like, he actually has a really hard time trying to do it because of loads of like red tape and people not trusting it and all this stuff. And like, the challenge is that he has to, he has to spend it by the end of the day.

• 43:59Jonny?

You never think that you'll just run into like bureaucracy is the reason why you can't spend.

• 44:04Speaker 01

  Look, man.

• 44:05Jonny?

I promise, I promise this is all right.

• 44:08Speaker 01

Like, you can't go to the bank and withdraw any more than like a really silly amount of cash and it's just, I think it would be such an interesting concept.

• 44:15Jonny?

It's liquidity. You couldn't get it in physical cash. So you'd have to pay for everything and you'd reach all kinds of like fraud limits and be on the phone at the bank constantly.

• 44:26Chris Williamson?

  Cinema pick and mix.

• 44:29Chris Williamson?

  That's really expensive.

• 44:31Speaker 01

  Yeah, it is, isn't it?

• 44:33Jonny?

  Sell it on.

• 44:34Chris Williamson?

No, no arbitrage, you need to get rid of the money.

• 44:37Jonny?

Oh, so you've just got to spend it?

• 44:39Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 44:39Jonny?

So your strategy, Chris, is, so I think you'd have to go across the cinemas in the UK.

• 44:45Speaker 01

Here I come, I am cinema.

• 44:46Jonny?

Yeah, I am cinema, I am cinema max.

• 44:52Jonny?

So I would use, I'd use the initial million to employ as many people as I could for the day.

• 44:58Chris Williamson?

  Yes.

• 44:58Jonny?

And get them to go around all the cinemas in the UK and buy all of the pick mix.

• 45:02Chris Williamson?

  Yes.

• 45:02Jonny?

And maybe you'd have to do all of, but immediately you run into an operational problem, which is employing that many people that quickly. Making sure that they are, you know, operating to a certain structure. It's not even that, it's not even that, it's like, how do you ensure that like Keith in Glasgow is doing what you ask him to do? Cause if Keith, if Keith, commission.

• 45:24Speaker 01

But then how do you, how do you police the commission?

• 45:26Jonny?

  Exactly.

• 45:28Chris Williamson?

You know that there was no one born with the name Keith in 2019?

• 45:35Speaker 01

Was it Keith? I thought it was Nigel in 2016, 2018.

• 45:40Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 45:40Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 45:41Chris Williamson?

Nigel and Keith are a dying breed, man.

• 45:44Speaker 01

It's not a very baby name. Our little Keith.

• 45:48Jonny?

You'd grow into that name, don't you? You'd become a Keith.

• 45:51Speaker 01

We, we had a guy called Keith in our class. And he was not, he was always known as Big Keith and he was just a man all the time.

• 45:59Jonny?

It feels like you've got to be at least 40 before you can justify being called Keith in my head.

• 46:05Chris Williamson?

There's someone called Keith listening who's 22 and dresses really cool and is like, you're fucking, I tell you all. Um, can you imagine how few Karens there's going to be? Oh my God. Did you see that a bunch of Karens went on this morning to complain? And someone, someone made a meme of it that said, this is the most Karen thing that you could do.

• 46:24Jonny?

It's the level of, like the levels that goes to. And it's the, it's, I wonder whether.

• 46:32Jonny?

Because I feel like you would think about that, wouldn't you, before you went on? You'd be like, what are we being accused of here? What's the, what's the essence of the problem here? It's, it's the, and then is this helping or hindering?

• 46:46Chris Williamson?

  Ah.

• 46:47Speaker 01

How would you deal with it if, if your name was Karen?

• 46:51Jonny?

I think you just, like, don't take it seriously.

• 46:54Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 46:54Jonny?

You know, you know, I don't, presumably they're not encountering any kind of real issues from it. It's just a bit of internet bullshit.

• 47:02Chris Williamson?

The video guy Dean's mum is Karen.

• 47:05Jonny?

  Does she mind?

• 47:06Chris Williamson?

  No.

• 47:08Speaker 01

So that, I think that upgrade, like, if you're like, oh, yeah, I'm called Karen, it's quite funny, like.

• 47:12Jonny?

Like own it, really live it.

• 47:14Speaker 01

Yeah, but you're kind of hamstruck. If you're 40 and you're called Karen, it, I mean, changing your name's a bit.

• 47:20Chris Williamson?

To fuck on, isn't it? I mean, here's one way to look at it, because obviously, as someone who's just lost one of the most important tendons in his body, I've been reading a fair bit of stoicism.

• 47:33Chris Williamson?

Turn that around. If it was Ryan Holiday that was looking at it, he would say, that's great. Everyone's got incredibly low expectations of you, much easier to beat them.

• 47:42Jonny?

  Yeah, nice.

• 47:43Chris Williamson?

Precisely what he would say. If your name's Karen, you now don't have to be anywhere near as polite or impressive to be polite or impressive. But you just need to not be a bitch and you're already miles above what everyone is expecting of you.

• 47:58Jonny?

Well, if you just continue as you were, that's immediately held in higher regard.

• 48:03Jonny?

  Fantastic.

• 48:04Chris Williamson?

Low expectations are an advantage, man.

• 48:06Speaker 01

I thought Dexter was your microphone there. I thought you were just talking into his head as the microphone.

• 48:11Jonny?

  No, no, he's not.

• 48:12Speaker 01

  He's just looking wistfully, forlorn.

• 48:14Chris Williamson?

Yeah. Um, has anyone watched Dark on Netflix?

• 48:18Jonny?

So since I saw you talking about it, I've tried and I'm really struggling.

• 48:23Chris Williamson?

  Oh, Johnny, please.

• 48:24Jonny?

  Persist.

• 48:25Chris Williamson?

Oh, please do. And anyone that's, anyone that's listening, so I am very much of the same mindset. I think more of Yusuf, but, oh no, actually you like subtitles, right?

• 48:37Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 48:38Chris Williamson?

  Okay, well, I.

• 48:39Jonny?

You have subtitles and everything, don't you?

• 48:40Chris Williamson?

You choose, you elect subtitles. You've opted in for subtitles, haven't you?

• 48:44Jonny?

I prefer to watch the, is it, is it German?

• 48:48Chris Williamson?

  Yes.

• 48:49Jonny?

I prefer to watch the German.

• 48:50Speaker 01

Yeah, because the dub, the voiceover is so.

• 48:51Jonny?

The dubbing, it just loses all of the kind of.

• 48:54Speaker 01

Because it's like a really tense, like, well lit, and it's like, hey, what are you doing over there? And you're like, ah.

• 49:00Chris Williamson?

No. So I, I tried to, I watched the first episode overdubbed. And then me and my housemate were like, right, we'll watch the second one subtitled, which is obviously very effortful. Like, you're basically reading books for hours.

• 49:12Speaker 01

  The programme is really effortful.

• 49:13Jonny?

You watched the dub programme but with subtitles on?

• 49:15Chris Williamson?

No, so I watched no subtitles.

• 49:17Speaker 01

  Well.

• 49:18Chris Williamson?

English overdubs on the first episode of Dark, couldn't get away with it, just exactly as you said, like, all the tense moments were destroyed. It just sucks. And then, episode two went with subtitles, we're now on the final episode of season two. And dude, it's like, it's so good.

• 49:38Jonny?

Hold on, hold on. Can, are you saying that there's an option to switch off the dubbing?

• 49:44Chris Williamson?

  English dubbing, yeah.

• 49:46Jonny?

I just presume that was like preloaded.

• 49:48Speaker 01

No, you can, you can switch to, to original audio.

• 49:51Jonny?

  My god.

• 49:52Speaker 01

  Pretty good.

• 49:53Chris Williamson?

Closed captions, you want to go audio and, audio and captions, turn off, go to like the original audio. And you want English, not closed captions, uh, subtitles, because closed caption subtitles must be for people that are like hard of hearing. And that's.

• 50:07Jonny?

Oh, when they describe like rustling the leaves.

• 50:10Speaker 01

  Shutting the door.

• 50:10Chris Williamson?

Yeah, yeah, exactly. It's like, um, dram- dramatic music. And then when it, when the, uh, intro music plays, it tells you, it's like, um, Ellie Goulding, Stars and Stripes. As the mu- and it's like, well, hang on, if I can't hear, that, that, I have no reference for what that means.

• 50:27Jonny?

  Notable.

• 50:27Speaker 01

  You ever had that accidentally?

• 50:28Jonny?

  Short sharp beats.

• 50:30Speaker 01

I've definitely had it, watched something before with that just on and didn't realise that's what it was. And I was like, this programme's really weird. Like, it's like a narrator that's talking about really mundane stuff.

• 50:40Chris Williamson?

  Dude, Dark, stick at it.

• 50:42Jonny?

If you can switch it over, because that's the only thing I struggle with, it's just the total mismatch. Yeah, completely handled. The total mismatch of like, what should be the sort of mood of the scene and the dubbing.

• 50:58Chris Williamson?

  It must be hard though.

• 50:59Jonny?

Turns it into like a parody of the same situation.

• 51:03Chris Williamson?

It just totally takes you out of the moment, right?

• 51:05Jonny?

  Yeah, completely.

• 51:06Chris Williamson?

Imagine if you're a voice actor, there might be some listening, like if you're someone who has to do this job. Like the actors that are there get to be in the scene, they've been on set all day, they're talking to the person, they can see that. And then you get, right, Jonathan, it's your turn now, mate, we've got about 15 minutes to get this scene nailed. Then Jonathan has to watch it on TV whilst seeing the script, whilst matching his voice to someone who's not saying those words. His other language noise, which relates to the words he's saying.

• 51:40Jonny?

Because like the intonation's different in different cultures, isn't it? So like, I think we go up, like especially northern things, go up at the end of sentences.

• 51:50Speaker 01

  Australians are big on that.

• 51:53Chris Williamson?

Up with inflection, they love it. Everything's a question if you're Australian.

• 51:55Jonny?

Going up at the end of sentences.

• 51:58Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 51:59Chris Williamson?

Yeah, it's, but yeah, I was super, super impressed with Dark. Anyone that needs something to watch on TV, I highly recommend that. Wasn't impressed by the business of drugs, which I thought I would be.

• 52:10Jonny?

Yeah, I've watched, again, I just piled it, just watched one episode and I was just like.

• 52:15Speaker 01

Was that the German one of the kids that set up a dark web thing?

• 52:20Jonny?

No, no, it's like a documentary series on Netflix.

• 52:22Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 52:23Chris Williamson?

  Not impressed.

• 52:24Jonny?

You know, one of the things that I couldn't, I actually reround, reround and watched like three times was the, this lady's like a CIA agent, right?

• 52:34Chris Williamson?

  Yes, yeah.

• 52:36Jonny?

And they they keep a scene in where she's getting into the back of this like military plane. And nearly like clearly you know when you like go to step up on something high? And you like go for the initial push off and it isn't quite enough. And you have to come back down again and do it again. That like nearly happens to her and she has to like press herself off off her butt off her own leg. And then goes and has this really serious conversation with like someone in about drugs. And they keep it in. And I just think it's a bit harsh. It's just doesn't it doesn't hit her in a very like this is a very serious situation and then she like.

• 53:09Speaker 01

Someone needs to make a compilation of all those like, you know, like where you you try and pick up a glass and you miss your mouth. Or you trip a little bit on the pavement.

• 53:17Jonny?

Go to like reach a door or something behind you, just grasping at the air for ages.

• 53:22Chris Williamson?

The worst, the worst one is thinking that there isn't a step there going downstairs.

• 53:28Jonny?

  Oh, God.

• 53:29Chris Williamson?

And there's one more left. Yeah.

• 53:31Jonny?

And it for some reason it really hits you hard, doesn't it? The same as all the other steps.

• 53:36Speaker 01

If you pick up a glass and you think it's full and it's not and you go.

• 53:43Chris Williamson?

Which is funny, right? Because the tolerance that you've got shouldn't be so fine. Like a kilo or half a kilo of liquid. Makes the difference between you slowly bringing it to your face or throwing it at the ceiling.

• 53:56Speaker 01

It's amazing. Like we're so calibrated with little stuff like that. We don't even realise.

• 54:01Chris Williamson?

Yeah, you need to speak to techno Jim. That's that's perhaps a solution that they could go with.

• 54:06Jonny?

It used to happen to me a lot when when I was going to see the clients as an auditor. Because you'd always be in a different building. You always be dealing with different, different like in office environments. And I would always, there'd always be a time, it probably happened once a month, where I'd go into like a person's office. Open the door and use too much force. And it's like bang off the thing and you're like. There's no way to not look like.

• 54:32Speaker 01

I think you have to just do that. Just hands on hits.

• 54:34Jonny?

  So I am here now.

• 54:36Chris Williamson?

Here I am. I am the door opener. Well, look, Seth, you've got to get off. It's your mum's birthday. It is. So happy birthday, Mother Scob. Thank you. I'll pass that on. I think this is, this is probably going to go out on Thursday, which will be the day after I have my operation. So hopefully I'm, I'm absolutely fine. I said on the intro to an episode the other day that I'm going to try my best to continue with a fairly regular publishing schedule. Reason being that like you just need to do something like the alternative is having no reason to get up, having no reason to kind of like transcend your discomfort. There was that episode I did with Kamal Ravikant where he

• 55:18Chris Williamson?

lost almost all of the blood out of his body and was able to take himself off. Yeah, he took himself off opiates because he wanted to read the manuscript with enough like fidelity that he could tell where the punctuation was right and wrong. And it's like, if you have a strong enough reason to kind of transcend anything that's uncomfortable, it'll be fine. And you know, this is a, a pretty good version for me. So yeah, hopefully we will be not too disrupted when it comes to the recording schedule and the publishing schedule, and that will help to hold me accountable, which will be, which will be nice.

• 55:54Jonny?

Well, I imagine presumably it's kind of one of the only things you can do post-surgery.

• 56:00Chris Williamson?

I need to be horizontal for just 50 minutes.

• 56:03Jonny?

That was mental. When I saw the story description of it, I was all sort of like within expectation at the recovery times and all sorts of things. But that, that point, I was just like.

• 56:13Chris Williamson?

50 minutes horizontal with your leg up out of every 60 for two weeks.

• 56:19Jonny?

Is that because it's just naturally can't not load bear it?

• 56:22Chris Williamson?

It's to get the swelling down. Need to get, need to get foot up, get fluid out.

• 56:30Jonny?

I imagine the surgery is just like tying a big, like a bow, double knot.

• 56:34Chris Williamson?

Sutured, sutured together with semi dissolvable sutures, well dissolvable sutures that take three months.

• 56:41Jonny?

  So clever, isn't it?

• 56:43Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, it's pretty, it's pretty.

• 56:44Jonny?

  Medicine and doctors and stuff.

• 56:46Chris Williamson?

I know. Could you have a go, Yusuf? If I just said, get, get a kitchen knife out, could you have a crack?

• 56:53Speaker 01

It's kind of like asking Johnny to like, go into a Spanish, um, construction company.

• 57:01Jonny?

  No, like financial institution.

• 57:04Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 57:04Jonny?

  Really complex.

• 57:06Speaker 01

So like a Spanish hedge fund and just being like, can you just like run the accounts? And they'd be like, well, I can have a crack at it.

• 57:14Chris Williamson?

I know, I know mostly where everything is, but the specifics are going to be.

• 57:18Jonny?

  I'd, I'd back you.

• 57:20Chris Williamson?

  I'd back you as well.

• 57:21Jonny?

I don't think you'd do anything wrong, or like that made it worse.

• 57:26Speaker 01

Is this me as a surgeon or the anesthetist, or just doing like just one man operation?

• 57:30Jonny?

All the doctor stuff, isn't it?

• 57:34Speaker 01

Just being a single theater team, just me.

• 57:38Jonny?

There's loads of films where they do it, and I feel like it would be really irresponsible.

• 57:41Speaker 01

Yeah, but when they get a bit of snow and they're like, they'll have a knife in their teeth and they're just like.

• 57:46Jonny?

Like remove a bullet and all that sort of stuff. If someone who's not even a doctor can remove a bullet from themselves with like a, a mirror and a.

• 57:53Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 57:55Speaker 01

Like if Matt Damon can do it, then yeah.

• 57:57Chris Williamson?

Well, just like watching movies throughout 2010, 2020 has taught me that any wound just needs cauterizing. Like cauterize it.

• 58:06Jonny?

Doesn't matter how bad it is.

• 58:07Chris Williamson?

Yeah, just, just cauterize it. That's it.

• 58:09Jonny?

The thing I always wonder is, in films where the bullet's gone all the way through, no one ever seems that worried? I'm just like, surely, like that means it's done loads of damage.

• 58:19Chris Williamson?

But the exit wound's going to be huge.

• 58:21Jonny?

  Massive.

• 58:23Jonny?

But as long as you like, put a bandage on, then.

• 58:27Chris Williamson?

It's like, it honestly, it's like, straight through, nothing to worry about. Now, hang on, no. Like there'd be nothing to worry about if it hadn't hit me.

• 58:36Jonny?

I mean, even then, there's something to worry about because someone just shot at you.

• 58:40Chris Williamson?

Yeah, less, less to worry about.

• 58:44Chris Williamson?

  Unbelievable.

• 58:45Speaker 01

The, the question of like, do you take the knife out or do you leave it in? Do you turn up to A and E with a knife sticking out of you? Like, do you leave the bullet in?

• 58:52Jonny?

  Surely you leave it in.

• 58:54Speaker 01

Yes, I think it depends on a lot of things. On like where, on where it is.

• 59:00Jonny?

  Take it out.

• 59:00Speaker 01

To, to be honest, I, I wouldn't want to make that call.

• 59:03Chris Williamson?

It's not, it's not a plug. It's not a drain plug, is it?

• 59:07Speaker 01

Well, that, that, that's what you want to be careful of. And also if there's a bullet in, it's like, has it introduced more infection than it? Or like, is it going to cause more trauma by removing it? If it's a serrated knife, by removing it, are you going to cause more damage? But then it's like, well, okay, how do you get it out anyway then?

• 59:25Jonny?

Someone's gonna have to take it out, aren't they?

• 59:27Speaker 01

At some point, yeah. Unless you just.

• 59:29Jonny?

Unless you've made a life decision. Yeah, you're like, right, well, that's that.

• 59:34Chris Williamson?

You'd have, if you left a knife in your shoulder for the rest of time, you'd have somewhere to hang stuff, wouldn't you?

• 59:40Jonny?

It'd be the sort of thing where you'd like, you'd catch it on something, it would come out.

• 59:43Speaker 01

  Door, always on the door.

• 59:44Jonny?

Leaving now, yeah. Or like putting a jumper on in Zara.

• 59:49Speaker 01

  Oh, so difficult.

• 59:50Jonny?

  Catch it and then.

• 59:51Speaker 01

  Slim fit.

• 59:51Jonny?

All over the thing and you have to have the conversation, I had a knife on my shoulder.

• 59:55Chris Williamson?

Still there, that's what that is.

• 59:57Jonny?

Have to pay for the jumper even though you didn't want it and all that sort of stuff. I would leave, I think I would leave it in. Based on my.

• 1:00:03Speaker 01

  Leave it in?

• 1:00:04Jonny?

Absolute zero understanding of any of this. I feel like that's my knee jerk response would be better in than out. Well, no, initially far better out than in, but once it's in, it feels like it'd be better in than out.

• 1:00:19Chris Williamson?

Fine. That's the only thing that you think should stay in as well, isn't it? Everything else in life is just a series of.

• 1:00:26Jonny?

  Getting it out.

• 1:00:27Chris Williamson?

Buildups to you being able to get something out of you, which is the.

• 1:00:32Jonny?

Well, no, because it's not like food, food and water. That's nice to go in.

• 1:00:36Speaker 01

I'm sure there was a podcast where we talked about this.

• 1:00:38Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:39Jonny?

  It's just me and you.

• 1:00:40Speaker 01

Yeah, it was, it was Johnny's philosophy on like things going in your body versus things going, coming out of your body.

• 1:00:46Jonny?

Well, the idea that everything coming out feels nice.

• 1:00:48Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah. That's it.

• 1:00:51Jonny?

It's very, very little. Suppose apart from a cough. But that's not really coming out of you, is it? Per se.

• 1:00:58Chris Williamson?

It's attempting to get something out of you.

• 1:01:01Jonny?

Yawns are nice. And then you said point was like, things going in are nice. And then we then we clarified that most things could be put in if with someone who had like the right tools, frame of mind, skills and motivation. There's ways you could put things into people. You really applied yourself to it. And only some of the things are nice.

• 1:01:25Chris Williamson?

That's true. It's easier. The barrier for what is nice is easier for going out than in, isn't it? There's a select number of things going in that are nice, but most of the things going out are nice.

• 1:01:36Jonny?

  Yep.

• 1:01:37Chris Williamson?

Yeah. I'm glad that we've I'm glad that we've managed to

• 1:01:39Jonny?
