Getting Paid with Influencer Besties Raymonte Cole and DeAndre Brown

What happens when the funny, fierce Raymonte Cole and DeAndre Brown pull up? We already know—it’s about to be CHAOTIC, in the best way possible. They bond with Keke over friendship, fame, and finding their lane in the wild world of social media. They break down how they built a loyal following, get paid without selling out, and lock in major brand deals. Plus, they spill dating drama (including Keke’s!) and get real about going viral—and getting dragged (because Black Twitter always has time). Authenticity is the brand, and these two have had us gagged since day one. Get the Saks designer brands you love, delivered just like that. • 0:04Keke Palmer?

Y'all, today is gonna be good. I'm talking with two of the funniest, sharpest, and most original voices on the internet right now. Ray Monte has gone viral more times than I can count, y'all. He's got that "don't play with me" energy and makes us all smile with his videos gassing up strangers. And you know Deandre for being a corporate baddie, never afraid to drag the workplace culture, okay? He quit his six-figure job to pursue content full-time, and he has kept a check since. Their friendship is everything. Well, let's get into it. Ray Monte, Deandre, get y'all butts out here.

• 1:27Keke Palmer?

Now, why would y'all give me life like that right at the top? I live for y'all. Now, you know, I met Ray Monte, uh, we was at the... Where was we at? Um, I forget.

• 1:36Speaker 01

  You remember that?

• 1:38Keke Palmer?

  Of course I do.

• 1:38Speaker 01

  No, we was in DC.

• 1:39Keke Palmer?

  DC, boom, DC.

• 1:40Speaker 01

  You was headlining, Broccoli Fest.

• 1:42Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 1:42Speaker 01

You know what I told you? Oh, yeah, I remember that video. I did not think you would ever remember that.

• 1:46Keke Palmer?

I was on the floor. I said, "Renny, who is this man?" My little sister, I said, "Renny, who is this man?" She said, "Oh, girl, that's Ray Monte."

• 1:52Speaker 01

Exactly. She ain't wrong, queen. She knew who the diva was.

• 1:54Keke Palmer?

And I... Boom. And I was like, from that moment on, I was a fan. And then, obviously, I met you, introduced to you, your content, Mr. Corporate Baddie. I mean, you guys just have taken the internet by storm. How does it feel?

• 2:08Keke Palmer?

  Speechless.

• 2:09Speaker 01

Yeah, we feel a little speechless sometimes. Like, sometimes you be thinking like, damn, this really my life?

• 2:12Keke Palmer?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 2:14Speaker 01

  What do you think?

• 2:14Speaker 02

  I enjoy it.

• 2:16Keke Palmer?

Take me back to the top. I mean, before content creation, what was the baseline? Like, obviously, I know a little bit more about yours.

• 2:22Speaker 02

I was in corporate, like, investment banking. So, very boring, you know? So, it's fun to just, like, be with my girls, have fun, be on the podcast, be with Keke Palmer.

• 2:33Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 2:33Speaker 02

Okay, you know, so I love it.

• 2:41Keke Palmer?

• 2:57Speaker 01

  I was in the trenches.

• 2:58Keke Palmer?

  I know, that's right.

• 2:59Speaker 01

I was in the trenches. I was trapping. I was trying to figure out how I was gonna make a dollar. So, that guy opened up that TikTok. He came and saved, blessed, and changed my life tremendously. Hallelujah.

• 3:09Keke Palmer?

What is one thing that you think people would be surprised about y'all's personality outside of the internet? The part of you that you maybe don't put on there?

• 3:17Speaker 02

I think that me and Ray Maitre are a lot more alike than people would assume.

• 3:21Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 3:22Speaker 02

Like, we're actually really alike. Like, this is really my diva. Like, this is my sister, really.

• 3:26Keke Palmer?

  Oh, my God.

• 3:27Speaker 02

I wanted to do love and friendship.

• 3:29Speaker 01

Impresiveness and niceness. Um, yeah, we do a thing. A lot of times, there'll be jinx. Like, me and her'll be texting about something, and we will send each other the exact same thing. Like, I'll be like, jinx, you owe me a soda. So, we have a lot of common. People think we're like parallel opposites. And if you ever be around us, we're not. You'll be like, oh, wow, sisters.

• 3:44Keke Palmer?

When did y'all first meet? Because y'all were already popping before y'all met. Were y'all aware of each other's content before then?

• 3:51Speaker 01

We were aware of each other. We went on live together one time. And she was, this boy had stole her content. And she was shading him on the live. And I said, oh, this [BLEEP] is nasty. This is my kind of girl. What's up, boo?

• 4:01Keke Palmer?

Wait, what are the signs here?

• 4:03Speaker 02

  Cancer Aries.

• 4:04Keke Palmer?

Okay, Cancer Aries. Now, I know you from Minnesota.

• 4:07Speaker 02

  Minnesota.

• 4:08Keke Palmer?

  And you from Chicago.

• 4:09Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 4:09Keke Palmer?

You actually went to Mary and Catholic. My sister went to Mary and Catholic.

• 4:11Speaker 02

  Really?

• 4:12Keke Palmer?

  My older sister. Yeah.

• 4:13Speaker 02

  You were in Harvey, right?

• 4:14Keke Palmer?

Yup. I was born in Harvey, raised in Robbins. I'm sure you know Robbins.

• 4:18Speaker 02

I know Harvey. I used to wrestle at Harvey Twister.

• 4:20Keke Palmer?

  Okay.

• 4:21Speaker 02

So, yeah, I used to be, took a lot of time at Harvey.

• 4:23Keke Palmer?

So, very Midwest romance going on.

• 4:25Speaker 02

  Come on, romance.

• 4:26Speaker 01

Oh, my God. That's something that we bond over a lot is like us being from Midwest. You know, everybody be from the dirty, dirty South. You know, it don't be a lot of Midwest girlies. So, we be like bonding over Tink, Chief Keef, like all type of things. Like a guy in Row, a piece of pub. Oh, we love our Tink downfall.

• 4:39Keke Palmer?

What did Tink say when that man, she had went on out of that man? He was eating ass from the root of to the toot. I said, "Root of to the toot."

• 4:45Speaker 02

You not just there. You is messy. You is very, very messy and nobody ever call your ass messy. And you is. She is.

• 4:53Keke Palmer?

I'm on the phone. Well, you know a Virgo.

• 4:54Speaker 01

  Yeah, exactly.

• 4:55Keke Palmer?

A Virgo is gonna give you what you need. So, before content creation, what did y'all think that y'all life was going to be like?

• 5:02Speaker 01

I kinda always knew I was gonna be like famous. I just didn't know when and when it was gonna happen. Like, I just knew that I didn't wanna work. I was working at a nursing home and a assisted living too. And my skin used to break out so bad. I used to have to change like four diapers as soon as I got to work. And I just prayed to God like, "God, please take me out this nursing home." And he answered my prayers one day, man.

• 5:20Keke Palmer?

You say your family member passed.

• 5:21Speaker 01

  Yeah, my brother died.

• 5:22Keke Palmer?

Your brother died and that kind of is what opened that door for you to start sharing a little bit more online?

• 5:28Speaker 01

My mom is like really this, like this with her kids or whatever. So, my brother passed. It took a really big toll on her. So, like her whole house was just like pictures of him, memorials and stuff like that. So, I was just showing that, showing the memorial off. And then the TikTok went viral. And I had got off TikTok and then I had got back on there.

• 5:43Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 5:44Speaker 01

And it kinda just like created a platform. I just started talking on that type of stuff.

• 5:46Keke Palmer?

Yeah. And so, what about you? Like, what was your trajectory? I mean, I get an idea that it was, "Hey, I'm corporate. I'm gonna be doing this thing." But something switched where you realized, "I can be corporate maybe in a different way."

• 5:59Speaker 02

Well, I realized like I didn't wanna do corporate. Like, I knew that long run, I didn't wanna work for somebody else. I hated working for people. And I knew from there, like, I was like, I had started my own consultancy agency way back when.

• 6:11Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 6:11Speaker 02

About how people can get. Access to corporate.

• 6:14Keke Palmer?

  That's right.

• 6:15Speaker 02

And when I was doing that, I was like, you know what? I'mma talk about it online. I'mma talk about corporate America online. And that's kind of where the switch happened. Because I don't know, I like, like the numbers. And it was fun, like seeing the numbers and seeing people react to things that you came up with and that you were creative and just thought of from like your head.

• 6:34Keke Palmer?

Like, having something from your head come to life and then watching people react and enjoy it

• 6:39Speaker 02

made me happy, so I just kept doing it.

• 6:41Speaker 01

And recreating it. Like, see all the people like using your voice and making these sounds and then they going viral off of it, yeah.

• 6:47Keke Palmer?

Yeah, I mean, you, you went to Morehouse, shout out to the HBCUs. You interned at Goldman Sachs, the New York Supreme Court, and you were working at Citibank when you first started content creation. I mean, that's a very traditional startup scenario. And I relate to that because it was the same for me. I mean, I was started doing in this traditional system, agent, doing TV acting audition, etc. And then when social media came on, I realized that maybe I could have another out. But people still would be kind of like, oh, you're a traditional actor. Why would you go content creation? And I'm sure you experienced the same thing.

• 7:17Speaker 02

But I feel like you can relate to this as well. I think all of those things that I did has helped me with what I do now.

• 7:24Keke Palmer?

  That's right.

• 7:24Speaker 02

You know, like, I feel like, yeah, we may have had paths and now we're doing something different. But I think all those paths have helped us do and excel at what we are currently doing. So it's like, people are always like, that doesn't make sense. And like, sometimes I'll be on a flight or something like that. And people are like, you gave up this good job to make videos? But it's like, I don't think people really understand the business behind it all.

• 7:48Keke Palmer?

No, and I'm sure you guys can relate to the reality there. Like, content creation, I know we're in a phase where people are trying to really figure out how to validate it as a career and being a social influencer. But like, it's a real job. You don't have to like, oh, I'm a traditional, so I can't do content creation. Or I'll do content creation, I'm not good enough for traditional. No, it's like, I'm a business.

• 8:04Speaker 01

  Exactly.

• 8:04Keke Palmer?

  Period.

• 8:05Speaker 01

Do you have an degree in this? Cause like you got your cards, boo. You know everything. I do get your research. Like you are a professional.

• 8:12Speaker 02

I really think you need to show like quick.

• 8:14Speaker 01

Take Sherri Shepherd off the internet, off the, off the air.

• 8:17Keke Palmer?

  No.

• 8:18Speaker 01

Please, and replace her with Kiki Slick. I love TT, but.

• 8:21Keke Palmer?

Now y'all know who we really miss. We really miss Wendy.

• 8:23Speaker 02

  Oh, yes.

• 8:24Speaker 01

  I told that baby downstairs.

• 8:26Speaker 02

We talk about Wendy a lot.

• 8:27Speaker 01

We talk about Wendy all the time.

• 8:28Keke Palmer?

I mean, it was a good time to get into the tea a bit. We can wish everybody well, but let's get into the tea a little bit.

• 8:32Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 8:33Keke Palmer?

You know, we gotta just talk about it.

• 8:34Speaker 02

I miss that. We need that again.

• 8:35Keke Palmer?

Pop culture, what's the hot topics? Like, I'm tired of doing it in glam sessions. I keep up with pop culture.

• 8:40Speaker 01

Yes, I do too. I love pop culture.

• 8:41Keke Palmer?

I definitely do. I wish everybody well, but I'm into the tea. I can't lie to you.

• 8:44Speaker 01

I want you to keep this color for a long time.

• 8:46Keke Palmer?

  Oh, my gosh, babe.

• 8:47Speaker 01

I'm just loving this gender on you. Every time you do a bob, a bling, or anything, it just looks so amazing.

• 8:52Keke Palmer?

  Thank you, baby.

• 8:53Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 8:54Keke Palmer?

Okay. What's funny is you were saying you always knew you'd be famous, but you were already famous, Facebook famous, back in the day.

• 9:01Speaker 01

Baby, how do you know all of these things, girl?

• 9:04Speaker 02

  That's her research.

• 9:05Speaker 01

  She does her research.

• 9:06Keke Palmer?

So how did you get Facebook famous? We, shout out to the Facebook fams.

• 9:09Speaker 01

Yes, girl, I got famous on Facebook because I could fight a little bit. Back in the day, I used to be able to fight a little bit. And I had a real smart mouth, so anybody said something to me, I would clear them [BLEEP] out. I was like the shade room, but personified in a gay boy. So, yeah. And I, and I got in a bucket of ice one time on there.

• 9:25Keke Palmer?

Oh, yeah, when we were doing this challenge.

• 9:27Speaker 01

No, it was like, I did my own thing. I said I was the coldest [BLEEP] ever, and it like went up on Facebook.

• 9:32Keke Palmer?

  Now that eats down.

• 9:36Keke Palmer?

  Gotcha. Gotcha.

• 9:39Speaker 02

  Okay, yeah.

• 9:40Keke Palmer?

Oh, my gosh. So y'all started making TikToks around the same time. Everybody was ma- I mean, we already know, not only then, back in 2021, was everybody making content, but now always. How do you think you stood out? Cause that's the thing people are always asking, especially with the algorithm. What do you think made people start being able to be like, yo, let's go to Ramon T. Oh, let's go to Deandre. Wha- how?

• 10:00Speaker 01

Um, okay, so I'll go first.

• 10:01Speaker 02

  Jinx.

• 10:05Speaker 01

I think with me, I was just like so, I never really care what people say. So I would always say what I thought and like what I felt. And people would be scared to be offensive or getting canceled. I [BLEEP] I done got canceled 93, 24 times. Ah!

• 10:20Keke Palmer?

  None lies.

• 10:23Speaker 02

None lies. You know what I'm saying?

• 10:25Speaker 01

I think authenticity helped me a lot.

• 10:27Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 10:28Speaker 02

I think just really knowing what it is that I wanted to relate to people, like convey to people. Like when you think of corporate and you think of that atmosphere.

• 10:37Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 10:37Speaker 02

Like what comes with that? Like usually people that work in corporate, they have good jobs. So an espresso martini, you know, something that's like more elite, you know? Like something like more elevated. That's just what corporate is. That's the life you are, you live when you live, when you work like those corporate jobs.

• 10:53Keke Palmer?

And it's a different language. So I feel like especially with the corporate baddie and like the just Gen Z versus millennial. It's all about like, yo, this is how we're doing it.

• 11:00Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 11:00Keke Palmer?

And this is how we get it done. I definitely feel like that a lot of people were needing at that time, but needing it in general. It was just representation that we didn't see. And I think it's the same thing for you too. Representation that we, like you remind me of my cousins and the people I grew up with.

• 11:12Speaker 02

  Yes, everyone tells me that.

• 11:14Keke Palmer?

You know what I mean? So it's like to see you win, it feels like, that's like my cousin them.

• 11:17Speaker 01

  Relatability.

• 11:18Keke Palmer?

  That's right.

• 11:19Speaker 01

No matter how much money I get, I still try to be like relatable. Like I want people to still like see me, I hate.

• 11:24Keke Palmer?

I'm still that person I've been.

• 11:25Speaker 01

I'm still that same person that started in that blue bed. Also, I want to, before I lose my train of thought.

• 11:28Keke Palmer?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 11:29Speaker 01

You had said something about corporate baddie. He don't play about his corporate baddie title and name. Put it in your bio. He sending you a cease, send a cease.

• 11:35Keke Palmer?

Yeah, because I know you done with that. So I do want to respect that. I'm bringing it up to in reference, but I know you moved on from it.

• 11:41Speaker 02

I think that I, I moved on from it, but it's still, at first, okay, there was a point in time where I was like, okay, I'm removing all of this because I don't work in corporate anymore. And I felt pressured to do that because people were telling me like, get rid of it. Like you don't even work in corporate. But then I realized like, no, this is a part of my journey. This is a part of my story. And it's like, and I still do the advice, whether, you know.

• 12:02Keke Palmer?

And you're still working in, I mean, people got to understand, being an influencer, being a brand, it's, you're going to touch corporate.

• 12:08Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 12:08Keke Palmer?

Being a performer, you need to know that business. So I totally get it. It's one of those things where it's like, how do I honor my past, but still allow my future to be able to become?

• 12:17Speaker 02

Yeah, so after I. Decided to like, keep it there. Also trademarked this so no one else can use it now. So, like he was saying, like, sometimes people will have it in their bio. I've come across a few people and they'll be like, corporate baddie. And then I'm, I hit my attorneys up like, yeah, can you like, hit them up and have them?

• 12:34Keke Palmer?

And that's what the [bleep] needs to be. Yes!

• 12:37Speaker 01

  Yes, I told you.

• 12:38Keke Palmer?

  I love business.

• 12:38Speaker 01

I told you, she gets nasty. She gets nasty and real.

• 12:41Keke Palmer?

  We have to.

• 12:42Speaker 01

Yes. Oh wait, one more thing about where you go on, with the learning stuff in the corporate world and stuff. I learned what, S O W, man, scope of work?

• 12:48Speaker 02

Wait, what is the word you be using a lot? Oh, now he does, okay, I'm a circle back.

• 12:52Speaker 01

Yeah, I'm a circle back to this.

• 12:54Keke Palmer?

That nasty email for my last email.

• 12:57Speaker 01

She told me on this, um, she says, I'm nothing but talent. Like, cause I don't like to like, I don't like to read things. When it comes to like, coming to things and stuff like that, I need to just know what time I'm gonna be there. Cause you know, people get 20% of your money. So like, I need to, you to do, work all the percentages. You need to get, I need you to tell me I'ma be there, you need to remind me, you need to do all of those things. So, yeah, I am just talent, baby.

• 13:19Keke Palmer?

So yeah, you're still giving out that business detail that we need, always and forever.

• 13:23Speaker 02

Cause I feel like you can't, at least for influencing, like, you can't just, well, you can, cause you do it well. But it's hard to just be talent. Maybe that's just me, because I'm...

• 13:33Keke Palmer?

Well, I feel that way. I feel that it is hard to just be talent, but that's just because coming up from where I came from, people will take advantage of you, if you don't know otherwise. And for longevity, at some point, at the beginning, when I was a kid, it was Sharon. She was always the one with the business. But at a certain point, Sharon not gonna be there all the time. And then if it's not your mama, then you don't know you can really trust those people. So you gotta always know your business. I think it's important, like what you're saying and what you've always been teaching, and what we continue to talk about, because like, it's always a job at the end of the day.

• 14:01Speaker 02

  Yes.

• 14:01Keke Palmer?

And you gotta own your intellectual property. That's you, the brand. And so, you know.

• 14:06Speaker 01

Something I appreciate about you is like, when I don't know something, he doesn't ridicule me for not knowing it. He just educates me, like, you know? And that's like, really important and like, I think. So, thank you for that, little girl.

• 14:18Keke Palmer?

  Come on, little girl.

• 14:20Speaker 02

Yeah, I appreciate it, man. I don't know if I say thanks or if that was... Like, was that Shay?

• 14:25Keke Palmer?

  What was that?

• 14:28Keke Palmer?

You said something that really touched me that I relate to a lot. I'm sure a lot of people do because sometimes people are the first in their families, right? And you talk about a lot of people depending on you financially, especially when your brother passed and then now you're very successful. I want to know how you're dealing with that, how you're coping with it? Because it's a lot. I mean, I was financially, you know, the dependent in my family by the age of 12. You know what I'm saying? Even though they were supporting me, it still was supporting me other ways. It was still, the money was coming through my work and it's a lot. So how have you been dealing with that?

• 15:01Speaker 01

This is so crazy because I feel like I'm always telling him about this. Like it gets, I feel bad if I'm my mom or like, not my mom. Like somebody in my family asks me for something.

• 15:11Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 15:12Speaker 01

And I say no, but like I'm out buying things, living my life, like spending money very frivolously. So I'm always kind of guilted into saying yes, but I feel like in the beginning, I felt like this was what I was supposed to do.

• 15:23Keke Palmer?

  Sure.

• 15:24Speaker 01

But after you've given so much, it'd be kind of like you're making someone like dependent. So I'm still learning like how to say no, but I don't want anyone. Sometimes I think in my head like, let's say I say no and they ask someone else. The person I'm like, ain't your nephew famous or ain't he getting money? Ain't he doing da, da, da, da, da? So it makes, it mean I shouldn't care what they are thinking because I know what I'm doing for the people around me. But it's just really, really hard. It's really hard. It's really hard to tell people no. Like it really truly is.

• 15:54Keke Palmer?

And a great piece of what you were saying, I seen some meme. I don't know if they were saying it was Jay-Z or somebody that was just saying, it gets hard when you just throw money at people because how can you double that? If you're just asking me for, like how can I help? Like I would rather help you knowing that you're going to be able to take this somewhere and stretch it. So it does get also difficult when people are asking you for money because you don't want them to be dependent of you. You want them to be able to stand on their own, but you know, it's, it takes time.

• 16:16Speaker 01

And you don't want them to struggle either, you know?

• 16:18Speaker 02

And you just have such a giving, one thing about Remont say he is a very giving person and he has a really, really big heart.

• 16:25Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 16:25Speaker 02

So it is like, I see like, so when you talk to me about it and you're telling me, I understand the difficulty in it, you know?

• 16:33Speaker 01

It's so hard to say no because especially like knowing like, even though I know that I work hard for my money, I know that.

• 16:38Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 16:38Speaker 01

But I know like this would be so hard for you to get. Like I'm just making a video or I'm just coming to the club or something for this big, large sum amount of money. So. How can I, how do I be holding it so tight? You get what I'm saying?

Yeah, but it's yours. I think I've also learned with my life too is like, what helped me with saying no is like, at the end of the day, this is what feels right for me in this moment. I gotta be a hundred percent for me. And if I'm not, I'm not gonna be no good for nobody else. So if I actually love everybody, I gotta be straight with me first. Then I'll be able to give more.

• 17:06Speaker 01

Can you give me a story of time where you had to say no?

• 17:09Keke Palmer?

Man, I had to say no a lot of times. Um, people, my, my, my little cousins, they asked me for money. And I would give, and I would give, and I would give. But then I see it wasn't turning into nothing. And I say, you need to come back with a better plan. I'm gonna say no right now because I feel like I'm not helping you if I just keep doing this. I'm not teaching you how to actually build what you're trying to build. You wanna do what I'm doing, but I'm just handing everything to you. But there's multiple scenarios where that kinds of stuff happens, where you just have to say no because you're not actually helping the person. You're handicapping them, to be honest with you.

Y'all, I am still thinking about this incredible girls' trip I took a while back at this amazing Airbnb. When I tell you we lived our best lives, the spot had this gorgeous backyard jacuzzi, and our host was so sweet, walking us through how to get those jets just right. We had in-house massages all day, and the kind of peace and quiet you can only get when you have the whole place to yourself. That's exactly what I love about Airbnb. You can search through their guest favorites to find some highly rated, most loved homes that give you the space to truly celebrate your way. And this Fourth of July, whether you're looking for a spot with a spacious deck made for family barbecues, a cozy living room for late-night card games, or prime locations to catch these fireworks, these homes hit different.

• 18:28Keke Palmer?

And child, having your own space means celebrating without worrying about hotel neighbors. So, this Independence Day, declare your freedom from ordinary vacations. Book an Airbnb and create memories that will have you feeling patriotic all year long. Trust me, it's the kind of celebrating that'll have you saying, "God bless America and Airbnb."

• 20:16Keke Palmer?

Let's talk about the conversation you talked about with the Business Insider's Deandre, where you said you felt people had less respect for you after you changed your career, even though you were diversifying and becoming an entrepreneur.

• 20:27Speaker 02

Yeah, so when you're in that corporate, like being in a corporate space, I would, you know, go to happy hours and I have all these connections. I went to Morehouse. You know how, I don't know if you know, but Morehouse is very-

• 20:37Keke Palmer?

  My sister went to FAMU.

• 20:38Speaker 02

Okay, so you get the HBCU. So coming from that environment and then going into something that's not necessarily traditional.

• 20:47Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 20:47Speaker 02

It makes people look at you funny.

• 20:51Keke Palmer?

And I guess I'm, I'm really, really wondering, because I know you did speak on this a little bit. I'm really wondering what it taught you about diversifying your career. Whether it was in the middle of that process or coming out on the other side and having such great success. What did it teach you about, you know, taking chances on what you think you should?

• 21:06Speaker 02

You know, you really just have to learn how to not listen or care about what people think. And that's the thing that I really had to hone in on. Because I'm somebody who, I like to please the people around me. Like people that know me or that helped me out. Like I have mentors. Well, not even just family friends, but like mentors and people that helped me get to the Supreme Court, that helped me get to City, that helped me get those places. And now telling them, yep, well, I'm making videos, you know, it, it's hard. It was, it was difficult. And even though now there's still, I have a lot of success in this. It's still something that I think that they just don't understand.

• 21:49Speaker 02

And I don't think that they ever will understand, but.

• 21:52Keke Palmer?

That's so interesting. You probably just come from a background where a lot of people are very business.

• 21:56Speaker 02

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 21:57Keke Palmer?

You know what I mean? Because that's real. Like, you know, my family's very chill. I feel like you probably got a similar family to me where everybody's just, hey, we doing whatever we want.

• 22:03Speaker 01

  Eating brats and hot dogs.

• 22:04Keke Palmer?

Exactly, but I feel like you probably come from a background where everybody's like.

• 22:08Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 22:08Speaker 01

We had a deep conversation about you, about you being a nepo baby. And you will realize you're not a nepo baby. He's not a nepo baby. Because you had to be a celebrity. I was grilling him like, you a nepo baby. But he not a nepo baby because nobody in his family is famous.

• 22:22Speaker 02

  Yeah, so, yeah.

• 22:25Speaker 01

  But you're still a privilege.

• 22:26Speaker 02

I was privileged. Like I went to private school, I did my whole life. Like I had, I was blessed and my mom.

• 22:32Speaker 01

And he had a car, he crashed it, he got another car. And he got a rental car and then da, da, da, all that.

• 22:37Keke Palmer?

And none of that is anything to be ashamed of. I know sometimes it can be, you know, in community, it's like, okay, what did that mean? But at the end of the day, what, what we're speaking to, you still had your challenge with breaking out of what that told you you should be.

• 22:48Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 22:48Keke Palmer?

And who you really wanted to be.

• 22:49Speaker 02

But honestly, I was, I, I think what really helped me too a lot is that like my mom is very, was very supportive of it at first, at first.

• 22:57Speaker 01

At first, she was like, you're about to quit your job to do this. So it was weird at first, but she became really supportive and then she became, got into mama drama. She was like, okay, well then, how are we gonna manage the money? How are we gonna do this? How you gonna, so now it's, you know, it's different.

• 23:14Keke Palmer?

  Yeah, it's funny.

• 23:15Speaker 01

That helped a lot, like just the mom alone helped a lot.

• 23:17Keke Palmer?

Yeah, that's how my mom was when I first heard her that I wanted to start hosting. I was like nineteen, eighteen or nineteen and up until then I had been doing everything traditional. But then I started getting on social media, started content creating. And I was like, yo, like mom, I wanna do a talk show. And she was like, you're too young for that. And I'm like, what does that mean? Like my generation, I wanna talk, I wanna share. We have a lot of stuff going on online that nobody is talking to us about. We don't have no platform, no place to go to process any of these things. And that was when I ended up doing Just Kiki the first time. I, um, you know, my first talk show that I did.

• 23:48Speaker 01

And it was with a guy, right?

• 23:49Keke Palmer?

It was just me. Yep, it was just me. But what are you, what are you thinking of?

• 23:53Speaker 01

I was thinking of, it was a show and it had like a red, a white, red and white under it.

• 23:57Keke Palmer?

You're talking about Quibi, um, that dating show I did.

• 24:00Speaker 01

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

• 24:01Keke Palmer?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 24:01Speaker 01

You know, I wanna tell you something. I love that you do music and I want you to keep doing music. And I feel like the music makes you, cause you know, we have saw you for so many years. So I feel like we would have looked at you as like aged, but I feel like the music keeps you young.

• 24:14Keke Palmer?

Oh my gosh, well, you know, I got the new album coming out.

• 24:16Speaker 01

I love, oh, I'mma check it out. My favorite song by you is, um, Gucci on my booty, popping like a tuna. You ain't popping these shoes. Just catch up with my jeweler while you stuck there looking stupid.

• 24:27Keke Palmer?

I'm winning, what they losing? Get your [BLEEP] cuz he choosing. Yes, you gotta eat.

• 24:32Speaker 01

I love that, that's my song.

• 24:34Keke Palmer?

Oh my gosh. I'm so excited for this new music era, guys. I'm very excited for y'all to get into it. Y'all better be at the concert.

• 24:40Speaker 01

  I will.

• 24:40Keke Palmer?

I know that much. Now I wanna talk about y'all's relationship with brands. Um, you know, how do you curate a good relationship with a brand? I think that's a big thing that people are always talking about. Being social influencers, how do you pick the one that feels most authentic to your, to your audience? What is all money, good money? Have you ever done anything crazy for a check?

• 24:58Speaker 01

  Um.

• 25:01Speaker 01

He waxed me this all the time. He be asking me, I have like a partnership with Chipotle. I'm always doing like a Chipotle uh thing or whatever. And I really loved Chipotle. Me and him was staying in the car one day.

• 25:10Speaker 02

  It's like, like, it's insane.

• 25:12Speaker 01

And we, I saw Chipotle and I'm like, they gonna forever be that girl. Look at that line outside of them. They is doing the dang on thing. That food is phenomenal. And he said, he got like kinda irritated. He was like, I really wanna know how much they're really paying you. And I'm like, girl, what do you mean? I really like them. It's my stuff, you know? So.

• 25:29Speaker 02

  Like Chipotle is good, but.

• 25:31Speaker 01

I love Chipotle. I love Chipotle.

• 25:33Speaker 02

Spend a day with him, he's gonna bring it up like four or five times.

• 25:37Speaker 01

It's just so good. It's so amazing.

• 25:38Keke Palmer?

But that's what I call when, when it's actually a correct connection. When your brand and what you authen- that's how I, what drives me. If I can't uh say it in real time, if I can't be authentic with it, I, then I'm being fake and then that's hard for me to keep up with.

• 25:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 25:52Keke Palmer?

So I gotta love it. What's your relationship with brand collaboration and just storytelling and marketing?

• 25:58Speaker 02

Yeah, I think for me, I pick the brands, like, so I have a very long relationship with LinkedIn. LinkedIn was the first brand I worked with.

• 26:06Keke Palmer?

  We love LinkedIn.

• 26:07Speaker 02

I love LinkedIn. I love LinkedIn. Like, that's literally my baby.

• 26:11Keke Palmer?

  Please, y'all.

• 26:12Speaker 02

And a big piece of advice I have for people that are trying to make relationship with brands is you just have to, it's like building a relationship. Like, there's a team behind the brand. Like, you're not working with LinkedIn. You're working with a team, um, a management team that manages LinkedIn's collaborations. You know what I'm saying?

• 26:31Keke Palmer?

  Ooh, I love that.

• 26:32Speaker 02

So it's important that you build relationships with these people on the teams. And it's like, I think a lot of influencers, they get these really big teams. They have a manager, they have an agent, they have a publicist, and they feel like they, they're too good to talk to anybody. I'm not that way. Like, if I'm done with the deal or done with a partnership, I, I don't do this as much anymore, but I used to send out thank you messages.

• 26:55Keke Palmer?

  This is good.

• 26:56Speaker 02

I used to send out thank you man- messages outside of my manager to the brands.

• 27:02Keke Palmer?

I don't know if that's some Chicago stuff, but that is what Sharon raised me to do and that's still what I do to this day. And when I, I remember when I was a kid. And I went on the Martha Stewart show, she did it. After I went on her show, she randomly got my email somehow, she was like, "It's Martha darling. Thank you for the time. Remember, less sugar than last time." And so Martha, and I never forgot that, and I really do think that's important.

• 27:22Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 27:23Keke Palmer?

I mean, my mom, when I first came up in the game, she would send my new reels, my new resume, the last project I did to everyone. And I think that is so important to keep your relationship.

• 27:31Speaker 02

Yes, and even like sometimes, I was, I was working on this specific project that I was trying to do with Morehouse. And I knew I wanted LinkedIn to be the collaborator in the, the project. So I put together, well, I had a, um, a deck, look at you, period.

• 27:48Keke Palmer?

  I live for a deck.

• 27:50Speaker 02

I had a deck put together, like, say how they could collaborate with me on this effort. And I think it's important to see, like, with a lot of your partnerships that are more long-term, how you can make it bigger than what it is. Cause sometimes they'll come with you like, "Make a 30 second video, we're gonna pay you." And people be like, "Okay, I'm gonna just do that." But no, find a way to elevate that, to make that bigger.

• 28:12Keke Palmer?

And I think people need to know that it's okay to take an extra step before the check comes.

• 28:17Speaker 02

  Yes.

• 28:18Keke Palmer?

It'll come. Do the deck, do the pitch, it'll come. Sometimes you gotta take that extra jump for that more money to, to be made.

• 28:26Speaker 02

And then honestly, they may even tell you, no, they may tell you, yeah, no, this doesn't work. But the fact that you made, took the effort to do that, now when they are thinking of something more long-term, you're in the front of their head because they're like, "Well, he put in all this effort to do this, well, why, like, let's not, why not use him?"

• 28:42Speaker 01

Wow, y'all, so what my coach is teaching me right now is to take the extra step.

• 28:47Keke Palmer?

  Take the extra step!

• 28:49Speaker 01

Because I don't, I don't get that. I know he's taking an extra step, but I appreciate that. Like, we had did something, you remember Vegas?

• 28:56Speaker 02

Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

• 28:57Speaker 01

And I was like, no. I was really like, no, they were asking for more.

• 29:01Speaker 02

Well, I will also say, like, no shade to the brand, but we're gonna be honest. Sometimes.

• 29:08Keke Palmer?

They try to get more bang for their buck. There's that too. It's one thing if you have something in mind.

• 29:13Speaker 02

And that's what that situation was.

• 29:14Keke Palmer?

Another thing if they already said they was paying this and you said two videos.

• 29:17Speaker 02

And then it turns to ten.

• 29:18Speaker 01

And I knocked them out as soon. I, I, one thing about me, I'ma come, I'ma do my job, I'ma knock it out, it's gonna be phenomenal.

• 29:22Keke Palmer?

  That's right.

• 29:23Speaker 01

And I had knocked it out and I just was like, okay, well, what's next? They wanted to lock us in a room like we was in jail.

• 29:28Keke Palmer?

Oh, no, this is not forty-eight hours. Now, I want to talk about the difference between being profitable and being visible. And you've made a lot of, uh, comments about just the difference between different styles of content and what is allowed to get big brand deals. And I think that's a big thing that I, you know, when I started Key TV, it's my, it's a network, but it's not just a network in terms of entertainment. It's a network of connecting black creatives, content creators that aren't necessarily getting the opportunities they deserve with brands, even though they're creating the trends. And I know that's something that you've talked about, that you've experienced. Somebody, people will be doing the exact same thing as you, but because maybe they have a different look or something that people think is more profitable, they'll get the deal. How do you deal with that? I mean, there are other creators that aren't even getting close to the deals you're getting.

• 30:11Speaker 01

In the beginning, it used to, I always felt you have to just stay down till you come up. So that was like a lot of my thought process. And then something else I realized, like, these people aren't really profitable, they're platable. So sometimes people just, it's not that your content is good or you're making something that people want to watch. It's just that you're a space filler. And, you know, they need somebody to do it and you fit the description, so they gave it to you type stuff. And it's like, you might have gotten this, but longer in the run, like, people aren't, what, what's gonna be next? Like, you can't stand alone, like, you need these brands. So whatever I do, my fans are gonna come out in droves and support me and I'm building a community.

• 30:46Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 30:47Speaker 01

So that's more so what I thought of, like, instead of trying to get at the table, what they say, like, recreate the table.

• 30:53Keke Palmer?

  That's right.

• 30:54Speaker 01

So I just was like, I ain't gonna get my money here, I'ma get my money elsewhere. And, you know, and eventually, it'll come back around type stuff. So I was like, you know, just wait, or find your niche, or if you do want, and there's nothing wrong too with adjusting. I feel like some people tell you like, um. Don't change, or stay who you be at this whole entire time, and sometimes change is okay.

• 31:12Keke Palmer?

Yeah, yeah, especially if it's on your terms. How do you think that you were able to maximize your business? Would you say there was a move you made, you know, meaning it could be as simple as, "I got an agent," or "I got a, you know, spa- you know, a- a- agency," or?

• 31:25Speaker 01

I got an agency and like, I incorporated other things into my content. Like, I stopped cussing as much. Like, I do, I do have some videos that I cuss a little bit, and then I have some videos where I don't cuss at all. You know what I'm saying? I just like, stay to myself, but like, like Twitter is where I'll get really, really wild. And like, my Twitter and my TikTok is kinda like, polar opposites. You know what I'm saying? It's still me being my authentic self, but like, I'm not using profanity. I'm not twerking off of boats and hanging, you know what I'm saying? So, it's just like, time and place, I feel like.

• 31:53Keke Palmer?

Yeah, I do feel like, you know, as creatives, as human beings, as performers, there's always the, and as black people that are naturally, because of our society, going to be seen as representation, we're always playing this balance of, I want to be myself and give myself, but also I want to be respectful of the, of the platform that I have. How often do you guys have to think about that? And obviously, you can turn to each other, but do you turn to your mom or your dad? Or, you know, whoever it is in your life that could help you decide, like, "When am I being me and when am I restricting who I am and, and too focused on assimilation," or whatever it could be?

• 32:26Speaker 02

I think that's something that I struggle with, like, still to this day.

• 32:30Speaker 01

He's an over thinker. Like, that's his thing. Overthinking is his thing. I don't put much thought into stuff like that. Like, I'm just a more of like a doer, or like, just in the moment, like, "I'll get the backlash later." Or, "I have to leave it in 20 minutes." That's the type of person that I am, you know?

• 32:42Keke Palmer?

Yeah, I don't know if you're like me, but it's like, I'm always like, "Is this gonna make the aunties proud?"

• 32:46Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 32:46Keke Palmer?

I'm always thinking about the aunties. They, that's who I live for.

• 32:49Speaker 01

Oh, I be [BLEEP] them old [BLEEP]. I be, they live their life. Like, "I'm gonna put your Depends on and get in the bed."

• 32:56Speaker 02

  No, I, I think-

• 32:58Keke Palmer?

  They're tackling.

• 32:59Speaker 02

Just growing up, I was always very cautious of what I put online because I was told things like, "Well, if you post this, you're not gonna get into this school. If you post this, this," you know?

• 33:11Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 33:11Speaker 02

  And...

• 33:12Keke Palmer?

  I relate.

• 33:13Speaker 02

And I think now, I open up, I think, and I thank you, Ray Mancet, because Ray Mancet has also helped me like, open up, but I am still very much in my head a lot.

• 33:23Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 33:24Speaker 01

You helping classing it up and closing it up.

• 33:26Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 33:27Speaker 01

Look what we doing, I'm crossing my line.

• 33:30Speaker 02

But, um, it's, it's really hard to find that balance. And then now, I think there's this other fear that, okay, if I show too much of the other side of me, well, I lose my business. Will people not

• 33:44Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 33:44Speaker 02

respect me in the same like corporate realm that I once had respect in?

• 33:48Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 33:49Speaker 02

Um, so there's just like all these, like these external fears that keep me like kinda...

• 33:56Keke Palmer?

Just protective. I think it's imperative, social relationships, you def- there definitely should be boundaries. That's just real, that's just life. And you know, if I got my friend, I go to the club with, I got my friend, I go to work with, I got my friend, you know, everybody's, you're not the same as you are with your homegirls as you are with your mom and dad. That doesn't mean you're fake, that means you're respectful.

• 34:11Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 34:11Keke Palmer?

So I think that does make sense to a certain degree. And then also, I think context is everything. In our generation, because information is coming each way, you gotta be thinking about it in such a full 360 situation because if it comes out of context,

• 34:25Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 34:25Keke Palmer?

then there's no way you can reel it back. It's like, how can you then explain that? And so, I think it's something that we all struggle with. You know, even if we are not an entertainer, just trying to live your life.

• 34:35Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 34:35Keke Palmer?

And everything being taken to a place that you're like, "But I didn't really mean that," and no one's gonna believe you.

• 34:40Speaker 01

Y'all hate fun. That's all I be saying. Y'all hate fun. Like, oh my god, like, can we do fun?

• 34:45Keke Palmer?

Now, you know, we gotta talk about y'all, some of y'all most viral moments.

• 34:53Keke Palmer?

Baby, I have never, and I mean never, been more devastated than when I found out that some of y'all been sneaking around behind Domino's back just to get your stuffed crust fix. Now, you know us Virgos are incredibly loyal, steadfast even. Cheating, especially on something as serious as Parmesan stuffed crust pizza, ain't gonna fly in this house. I saw y'all slide into those other pizza spots, drive-throughs, ordering that cheese-filled crust like Domino's, and I wouldn't find out about your little rendezvous. But sweetie, the healing starts today because Domino's just dropped their own stuffed crust, and now y'all got no excuse to keep stepping out on them like this. It's time to put those pizza-cheating ways to rest. Domino's new Parmesan stuffed crust

• 35:37Keke Palmer?

is serving pure decadence. With that buttery, handmade dough wrapped around a cascading stream of 100% melty goodness, these are the cheese pools of your dreams. It's very much a goofy movie level of ooey, gooey, cheesy deliciousness. And of course, your girl can't forget about that signature garlic seasoning and Parmesan sprinkle dance on top of that perfectly baked crust, making every single taste taste like it was blessed by the pizza gods themselves. Good to think about it now. I'm already imagining the Parm stuffed pie I've been plotting on. Next time I'm placing my order, you best believe I'm having mushrooms, grilled onions, and some extra peppers just to, you know, keep the vegetables on top. Now, this is the kind of commitment I'm talking about. No more pizza cheating needed when Domino's is bringing this level

• 36:22Keke Palmer?

of excellence to the table. Order Domino's new Parmesan stuffed crust pizza on the Domino's app and use code KIKI to get any three-topping Parmesan stuffed crust pizza for $11.99. Price is higher for some locations. You must ask for this limited-time offer. Prices, participation, delivery area, and charges may vary. Delivery orders subject to local store's delivery charge. Holler, your girl.

• 36:49Keke Palmer?

We gotta talk about that Bob is fire. And we gotta talk about, obviously, like I said earlier, the Gen Z versus millennial. It had everybody gagged. I mean, the reoccurring series of everything. When you guys created those moments, did you expect them to be what they would be?

• 37:02Speaker 01

No. And I want to think about me, like, I hate when somebody like walks up to me and says something I said on the internet before. Because I be kind of like, I be forgetting that I said. I be like, uh, what you talking about? I be like, oh, okay. I'm, I like women. So I'm, I think women are very, very beautiful. Like, and I just love like bigging a woman up and telling them like, damn, you look good. You look good. Because I understand like the effort. My mama used to cuss my stepdaddy out so much.

• 37:25Keke Palmer?

  Yes.

• 37:25Speaker 01

I got my hair done. I got my nails done. You didn't even say like, damn, baby, you look good. So when a woman looks good, I just automatically think to my head to myself like, I'm finna compliment you. Because it takes nothing to be nice. And this is what I think.

• 37:37Keke Palmer?

  Yes.

• 37:37Speaker 01

Like, I say like, girl, I love that shirt on you. When you sit at home with your homeboys, you be [BLEEP]. I get so much of my [BLEEP] compliments when I go on this [BLEEP] shirt. [BLEEP] I be killing them. So that's just what I be thinking. Like, I'm just about to just tell this boy.

• 37:49Keke Palmer?

Yes. You're giving life. You're giving life.

• 37:51Speaker 01

  I'm giving you life.

• 37:52Keke Palmer?

Yes, period. And you? When your viral moments became viral, was, did you create them for that intent? Or did you think they would receive that feedback? How was that reaction?

• 38:01Speaker 02

I think my, the viral moment that I did not expect to go as viral was the, I love a good hijab. Like, I did not. Oh, and the videos with the tambourine. And now, it's crazy because I really, really hate posting those videos. Because I just feel like they're so loud. Like, they're so, like, I'm shaking a tambourine. But that's like my favorite one that I did not expect. I did not expect that to go viral at all. Like, I was shocked.

• 38:31Keke Palmer?

Yeah, it's so funny when people, I mean, that's how I feel about sorry to this man. That's how I feel about, you know, it's your girl. Like, I did not expect. I'm like, I was just living, you know, you be living life sometimes. And it's like, hey, I guess that's what y'all rock with.

• 38:44Speaker 01

Yeah. Sorry to this man was so funny, yo. Like, that was the funniest one. I don't know who this is. You really did not have a clue.

• 38:52Keke Palmer?

  No clue.

• 38:53Speaker 01

  You was lost, son.

• 38:53Keke Palmer?

And when you look at it back, they told me who he was. And I was still like... I was not listening, I guess.

• 38:59Speaker 02

  We love honesty.

• 39:01Speaker 01

Yeah, I love truth to honesty, man.

• 39:03Keke Palmer?

Now, obviously, we were talking about how some people would not expect y'all to be friends. Sometimes y'all get a little bit of friendship. Hey, do you think it's like people being miscon- having misconception about you? Or just projections on seeing two amazing LGBTQ+ men?

• 39:16Speaker 01

Jealousies, like somebody, I sent him this tweet literally yesterday. Somebody said that like, I said I couldn't wait for him to get married. And I said like, the fact that he thinks they're gonna be friends this long. And I was like, I wanna quote this, in 10 years, when we old and [BLEEP] gray. Like, I don't be getting it, I don't, because like, you don't know him. Like, you don't know him at all, and it'd be funny to me, because they don't even be liking him. But they don't be liking me a little bit more, so it's like, okay, I'mma get this [BLEEP], you know?

• 39:39Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 39:39Speaker 01

That's what I'd be thinking, they'd be like, they'd just be wanting to just be mean.

• 39:42Keke Palmer?

Sometimes I think about this, and maybe this is just my like, half glass full thinking, but like, if you don't get dragged on Black Twitter, then don't nobody love you.

• 39:48Speaker 01

  Who are you?

• 39:49Speaker 02

You say that all the time.

• 39:50Keke Palmer?

It's kinda like, it's kinda like a love tat.

• 39:52Speaker 01

Who are you? I'm the Keke Palmer.

• 39:54Keke Palmer?

I feel like it's a love tat on the lowest of keys.

• 39:57Speaker 02

They be hurting them, man, they be coming hard.

• 39:59Speaker 01

Yeah, sometimes they do get you, like.

• 40:01Speaker 02

  They come hard.

• 40:01Speaker 01

I hate a Facebook profile, though. I like to be able to go to [BLEEP] age and like, see them and say something back mean to them, you know?

• 40:07Keke Palmer?

Oh, my gosh. But yeah, I mean, it's a part of the gag, you know what I'm saying?

• 40:10Speaker 01

But you been doing good, you been getting love for a little minute now.

• 40:13Keke Palmer?

  Oh, my gosh, thank you.

• 40:14Speaker 01

Yeah, they ain't been hating on you in a long time.

• 40:15Keke Palmer?

But, you know, I mean, but don't we all feel that about everybody? Like, I feel like y'all been getting love. You know, you don't feel it when it ain't you.

• 40:21Speaker 02

  I guess, yeah, yeah.

• 40:22Keke Palmer?

You know what I mean, when it ain't you?

• 40:23Speaker 02

Cause I feel like you like, kinda hone in on the hate more than you do the love, I don't know.

• 40:26Keke Palmer?

That's right. And I just remind myself, it's all love. Even if it's in the form of hate, it's all love.

• 40:31Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 40:31Keke Palmer?

Cause if they ain't talking, then you should be worried.

• 40:33Speaker 02

  Exactly.

• 40:34Keke Palmer?

Y'all always be going on trips together. Please send me a crazy story of one of the trips y'all been on.

• 40:39Speaker 02

  A crazy?

• 40:41Speaker 01

Yo, we like, we be saying this all the time, we need a camera crew that like, don't like, get everything. Oh, my birthday trip, okay, I said my birthday trip. I left the trip or whatever, and they was about to beat them up. Like, they were trying to charge them on my birthday when I left.

• 40:54Keke Palmer?

They was trying to beat who up?

• 40:56Speaker 01

And they was feeling like y'all damaged stuff in the house.

• 40:58Speaker 02

Oh, oh, that was your birthday.

• 40:59Speaker 01

  We cleaned the whole house.

• 41:00Speaker 02

Oh, my goodness, that was crazy.

• 41:02Keke Palmer?

Why would they think that y'all damaged stuff?

• 41:04Speaker 02

  Well, because things were damaged.

• 41:06Speaker 01

Things was not damaged. It was one little thing damaged, okay?

• 41:09Keke Palmer?

  Damage!

• 41:10Speaker 01

  Now, little girl.

• 41:11Keke Palmer?

  Damage, y'all done damaged.

• 41:13Speaker 01

I feel like that's not really a good win for real.

• 41:17Keke Palmer?

Okay, wait a minute. Well, let's get to the real tea. Who y'all dating?

• 41:20Speaker 02

Oh, see, that shit got old.

• 41:23Speaker 01

I actually literally just got like dumped because we always get dumped. We always get dumped. We cannot keep men. Like men, like we cannot keep men, but it's okay.

• 41:32Keke Palmer?

Add me to the group chat.

• 41:34Speaker 01

  Wait, Kiki's single?

• 41:36Keke Palmer?

  I ain't got nobody.

• 41:37Speaker 01

Okay, Kiki. We need somebody rich with a business, with a watch that ain't got no diamonds in it, it's plain.

• 41:44Speaker 01

Yeah, I got dumped because somebody said that like we laid together and I got on the internet and I was disrespectful saying like, uh, he believed it, so he [BLEEP] and he said, oh.

• 41:54Keke Palmer?

Oh, my gosh. People not, dating people and them not understanding your, your, like, your job.

• 41:59Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 42:00Keke Palmer?

I know y'all go through that.

• 42:03Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 42:03Speaker 02

  I know trash.

• 42:04Keke Palmer?

  Not DeAndre Thompson.

• 42:05Speaker 02

I know trash. I know garbage. No, I love him.

• 42:08Speaker 01

  Okay, sorry.

• 42:10Keke Palmer?

Man, who the hell was that?

• 42:12Speaker 01

I know trash. I know garbage.

• 42:14Speaker 02

I had made a comment on Twitter about somebody I was talking to at the time.

• 42:19Keke Palmer?

  Right, right.

• 42:20Speaker 02

  And he's like a foreigner.

• 42:24Keke Palmer?

  Okay.

• 42:24Speaker 02

So, English isn't like his first language.

• 42:26Keke Palmer?

  Oh, my gosh.

• 42:27Speaker 02

And then he said, y'all hope you don't see this. So then he texts me and he was like, I know trash. I know garbage.

• 42:36Speaker 01

I know trash. I know garbage. I need a translator for that [BLEEP] girl.

• 42:39Keke Palmer?

I dated somebody that was, that, like, that, uh, English was not their first language.

• 42:43Speaker 02

  Well, who wasn't?

• 42:50Keke Palmer?

He, me and him got into this huge fight. We were talking, I was talking about, you know, it was, it was around COVID when all this stuff was happening with like, Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd. And I'm like, you know, they lynching black men out here. And he was like, what is lynching? I was like, you know, it's when a mob of people just like attack you or whatever. He's like, well, how do you know they didn't do anything to deserve it?

• 43:06Speaker 01

  Ooh, yeah. Yeah.

• 43:08Keke Palmer?

  I said, what?

• 43:11Keke Palmer?

When I tell you we argued for thirty minutes, he was like, well, in The Sopranos.

• 43:14Speaker 01

  What?

• 43:16Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 43:17Keke Palmer?

He thought I was talking about mobsters.

• 43:20Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 43:21Keke Palmer?

  Not the mob.

• 43:22Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 43:23Keke Palmer?

  I was like.

• 43:24Speaker 01

  Like, not the mob.

• 43:25Keke Palmer?

  He talking about The Sopranos.

• 43:26Speaker 02

Oh, my gosh, so we can relate here, like, there's literally, and I tell people this all the time, like, there's literally just a difference.

• 43:33Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 43:34Speaker 02

And just the way, like, we, like, even just the way.

• 43:36Keke Palmer?

  The words with you.

• 43:37Speaker 02

  Yes.

• 43:37Keke Palmer?

And how we use, like, we, we say, it's like mob as a group of people. And then there's the mob, like, The Sopranos, the mobsters. And like, they, when they kill somebody, it's usually for a reason. I mean, I'm not here for the mobsters, but you know what I'm saying.

• 43:49Speaker 02

  There's like a huge difference.

• 43:50Keke Palmer?

There's a huge difference. So when he was, when he heard me say a mob of people, he thought, The Sopranos, oh, my gosh. I mean, it still didn't work out, but you know.

• 43:57Speaker 01

Wait, let me ask you a question. Are you like a lover girl? Do you consider yourself like a lover girl?

• 44:00Keke Palmer?

  Well, I love this question.

• 44:00Speaker 01

Or do you, are you like P? Like, are you like?

• 44:03Keke Palmer?

The truth, the truth about it is, I'm one thousand percent a lover girl.

• 44:07Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 44:07Keke Palmer?

I'm a thousand percent a lover girl, but to get to that point and for me to really do, I'm, I'm also not somebody that's gonna perform love in public. So if you're somebody that I'm with, or that I'm in love with, or that we have love, I'm going to give that lover girl energy to you, but out in public, I'm not, I'm not performing that love.

• 44:23Speaker 01

You never kissed in the club?

• 44:24Keke Palmer?

Yeah, I mean, I mean, kiss in the club and then, but like, really sit there and show, like, and be what I am in the back? Oh, no, no, no, no, no. I don't know, it's just not me. It's a very Virgo, you know, we can be very, mm, pitched.

• 44:36Speaker 02

Do you think that's a Virgo thing only, or do you think that's just because of who you are too? Like, you just don't want everybody in the business?

• 44:42Keke Palmer?

I mean, I think my mom is the same way. I don't know if that's maybe how I was raised. Like, my mom is very much so, like, Larry, stop, but secretly loving. You know what I mean? Like, my daddy, like, come over here, say, Larry, stop. I'm very that, but literally loving it. But I just, I think, you know what I mean? I don't know if it's a Chicago thing, you know, I mean, I'm a, got a masculine charm with a feminine tribute, I be just trying to keep it chill. And one, my, my love to be something that's sacred and private. Because it shows a side of me that is vulnerable and soft. And in the, in, in the world, I gotta be out here like Teflon. So it's like, mm, keeping that tucked. What about y'all?

• 45:16Speaker 02

  I think I'm a lover boy.

• 45:17Speaker 01

I'm a lover girl, but like, I'm P too, but like, I do, I do PDA in public, like, I'll just tell you down in the section, like, I don't give a Fifty people could be recording me. I don't care, let the people talk. I don't care, grab me up and show these people that I'm yours and mine.

• 45:29Speaker 02

But you're also the type, like, you be done quick. Like, when it's not working, like...

• 45:34Keke Palmer?

  Oh, my gosh.

• 45:35Speaker 01

She, but she, like, falls hard, fast, quick.

• 45:37Keke Palmer?

I fall hard pretty fast, too.

• 45:39Speaker 01

And she's an overnagger, she's an nagger, and she's an over thinker.

• 45:43Speaker 02

  Okay.

• 45:43Speaker 01

And she's an arguer. She's an arguer, over thinker, analyzer.

• 45:47Keke Palmer?

I almost feel like we're the same.

• 45:48Speaker 01

  I just love, yeah.

• 45:48Keke Palmer?

You have to work on your chart?

• 45:50Speaker 02

  I don't think so, no.

• 45:51Keke Palmer?

  What is all your stuff?

• 45:52Speaker 02

I only know the first one, Boo. I only know, I can't...

• 45:54Keke Palmer?

Because I'm like, why does I feel this energy of the same? Because literally, I'm the same way.

• 45:59Speaker 02

  You fall fast?

• 45:59Keke Palmer?

Fall fast can be very... So what did you mean by that?

• 46:03Speaker 01

Don't want, don't no man want no argumentative ass [BLEEP] all day damn.

• 46:07Speaker 02

  Yeah, I argue a lot.

• 46:08Speaker 01

  Huh?

• 46:09Keke Palmer?

  By then.

• 46:10Speaker 01

  Oh, okay.

• 46:12Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 46:12Keke Palmer?

  Not you, by the damn.

• 46:13Speaker 02

  He talking about the damn.

• 46:15Keke Palmer?

  Okay, so to the...

• 46:16Speaker 02

Yeah, I got dumped in South Africa because of that.

• 46:18Keke Palmer?

But at least you were in South Africa.

• 46:19Speaker 02

  That's what everyone kept saying.

• 46:20Speaker 01

That's what I told her, I said, "Girl, go buy things."

• 46:22Keke Palmer?

Seriously. I do want to play this game with y'all. It's called Fire or Nah. Obviously, this is a little take from your video with the bobs.

• 46:29Speaker 01

  Oh, period.

• 46:29Keke Palmer?

So, I'm going to show you guys a bunch of bobs. And if y'all think it's fi, y'all gonna say fi and tell me why. And if it's a nah, y'all gonna tell me why it's a nah.

• 46:38Speaker 01

  I got you.

• 46:39Keke Palmer?

Okay, let's start. First bob is...

• 46:44Keke Palmer?

Oh! Anna Wintour. Fire or nah?

• 46:47Speaker 01

  Fi.

• 46:48Keke Palmer?

  Yeah.

• 46:48Speaker 01

  I love me some Anna.

• 46:49Speaker 02

  I love this song.

• 46:50Keke Palmer?

  It's consistent?

• 46:51Speaker 01

  It's consistent.

• 46:52Keke Palmer?

  You know.

• 46:52Speaker 01

  It's never an inch shorter.

• 46:54Keke Palmer?

  No.

• 46:54Speaker 01

  Yes, I like it.

• 46:55Keke Palmer?

Love that. Okay, next one. Kelly Osbourne.

• 46:59Speaker 01

  Nah.

• 47:00Keke Palmer?

  So...

• 47:00Speaker 02

I don't know, I live for the color choice. I don't know, it was fun.

• 47:03Keke Palmer?

Look, this looks like it was a 2010 moment.

• 47:06Speaker 02

  Yes.

• 47:07Keke Palmer?

Y'all remember then? This was very that era.

• 47:10Speaker 01

I never understood how she got on the Fashion Police. Because she wasn't that fashionable.

• 47:15Keke Palmer?

Ooh, the shade is hot. So this one is a nah. Goodbye. Okay, next one is our girl Rihanna. I mean, does she ever get it wrong?

• 47:25Speaker 02

  Never.

• 47:26Keke Palmer?

  It's absolutely fi.

• 47:27Speaker 02

  I'm gonna say...

• 47:27Keke Palmer?

  You're silent.

• 47:28Speaker 02

I'm gonna say nah on that one.

• 47:29Keke Palmer?

Now, wait a minute, Raymonte. Are you just trying to give the girl something to tussle on?

• 47:33Speaker 01

I love Ree Ree, she's beautiful, she's so iconic, I love her. But I'm not really feeling this bob, it's kind of boring right now. I don't know.

• 47:39Keke Palmer?

You need to tell me why, what's boring?

• 47:40Speaker 01

It just give me, like, manager.

• 47:42Keke Palmer?

He don't like that, he don't like that curvature.

• 47:44Speaker 02

You don't like this, it's like...

• 47:49Speaker 01

What's wrong with a mom? Something. But I love you, Reece.

• 47:53Keke Palmer?

Okay, next one. This is Sarah Jessica Parker. I love it, guys. That is fine. I like it. Period. This is fabulous. Wispy, she's giving "I'm in the City."

• 48:03Speaker 01

But I can see like Cash Doll wearing this.

• 48:05Keke Palmer?

Yeah. Oh my gosh, come on, D-Town, bro.

• 48:08Speaker 01

I love when stuff is innovative. So this could be brought back.

• 48:11Keke Palmer?

Next one. Viola Davis. Why you laughing?

• 48:17Keke Palmer?

Oh my gosh, do y'all remember when she did, um, when she played Michelle Obama?

• 48:21Speaker 01

Oh, yes. Don't oop, please don't put that in there. Yeah, I didn't like that.

• 48:26Keke Palmer?

  I love Viola Davis.

• 48:28Speaker 01

  I love Viola Davis.

• 48:29Speaker 02

I think it's fitting for Viola Davis.

• 48:30Speaker 01

If she would have had some snot coming down, it probably would have sold it more for me.

• 48:33Keke Palmer?

So I love, now why would that have sold it? Now he's saying anything. I love Viola. I think, I agree with you. This is fine.

• 48:43Speaker 02

  This is fitting for her.

• 48:44Keke Palmer?

  For her, yeah.

• 48:45Speaker 01

Oh, okay. I just assume lunch lady. Like, she about to serve a maggot of potatoes in the peewee.

• 48:49Speaker 02

I feel like I wouldn't like to see Viola in like, the blunt cut. Like, I wouldn't want to.

• 48:53Keke Palmer?

  He's that lunch lady.

• 48:54Speaker 01

They give me bird's nest. I don't like that.

• 48:57Keke Palmer?

You don't like the wispy at the top?

• 48:58Speaker 01

No, I don't like the wispy.

• 48:59Speaker 02

  I like this.

• 48:59Keke Palmer?

I'm not mad. It feels very much like, ooh, elegant aunts.

• 49:03Speaker 02

Yeah, I feel like I would see my aunt in that.

• 49:04Keke Palmer?

  That's very cute.

• 49:05Speaker 01

Well, y'all know how I feel about the aunts.

• 49:07Keke Palmer?

  This auntie hate I can't.

• 49:09Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 49:09Keke Palmer?

  Okay, next one. Whitney Houston.

• 49:12Speaker 01

  Fine.

• 49:13Keke Palmer?

I mean, to me, it's fine.

• 49:15Speaker 02

It look like a, like it's pulled back.

• 49:17Speaker 01

  It's fine. I think it's fine.

• 49:18Keke Palmer?

  I love it.

• 49:20Speaker 01

  I love it.

• 49:20Keke Palmer?

But anybody that knows me knows Whitney Houston can do no wrong.

• 49:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 49:23Speaker 02

  I love the earrings.

• 49:24Speaker 01

Maybe she died when I was in sixth grade. And it was such an emotional year for me. Like, I love me some Whitney, too.

• 49:29Keke Palmer?

  Me, too.

• 49:30Speaker 01

So she can do no wrong.

• 49:31Keke Palmer?

  What's your favorite Whitney moment?

• 49:33Speaker 01

  Um, "You better lay low."

• 49:34Keke Palmer?

You, why do I say that to my son? Well, my son is about to like, "You better lay low."

• 49:38Speaker 01

I like that. Or I like when she was on, she's like, "I don't fight. I big [BEEP] up." I like that, too. Like, okay. Girl, I don't even have a [BEEP] with you.

• 49:46Keke Palmer?

They didn't let her be nuanced. And that's what I hate all the time with Whitney. She was everything.

• 49:51Speaker 01

  I R P my auntie.

• 49:51Keke Palmer?

I R P our auntie. We really love her.

• 49:54Speaker 01

  Yes, we do.

• 49:54Keke Palmer?

Love you, Whitney. Okay, that's fine or nah? You guys have to come back.

• 49:59Speaker 01

We love Baby, This is Keke Palmer. This is a hit show, like, go ahead.

• 51:02Speaker 02

  Bye.

• 51:07Keke Palmer?

Those two are too much. I live for their friendship. I love how they've each carved out their own path by staying true to who they are, and in doing that, found audiences that are uniquely theirs. There's something so powerful about knowing your lane and not feeling the need to swerve into someone else's just to feel seen. It's easy to get caught up in comparisons, but when you're grounded in your own journey and you know your worth, you can celebrate your friends fully without competition. Shout out to Raymonte and Deandre for being so real. See y'all next week because, baby, this is Keke Palmer.
