• 1:43Speaker 02

  Well, well, well.

• 1:44Conan O'Brien?

Well, well, well. Hello, Stelios. Welcome to Conan O'Brien Needs a Fan.

• 1:47Speaker 03

  It's not Conan O'Brien.

• 1:48Conan O'Brien?

Stelios, how are you? Nice to meet you.

• 1:50Speaker 03

I'm fantastic. Nice to meet you, Conan. Nice to meet you, Matt and David. Hi. How's it going, guys?

• 1:56Conan O'Brien?

We are doing very well. Where are you right now, Stelios? Tell me where you are in the world.

• 2:02Speaker 03

I am in hot Athens, Greece.

• 2:05Conan O'Brien?

  Okay.

• 2:06Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 2:07Speaker 02

It's kind of a hot dude in hot Athens.

• 2:09Conan O'Brien?

I was gonna say, you're an attractive man, Stelios.

• 2:12Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 2:12Conan O'Brien?

And so I didn't know if you meant hot Athens, that the temperature is high, or that just everyone, which I would believe in a second, including yourself, everybody in Greece is just hot.

• 2:25Speaker 02

It's like a walled city of Athens, but it's a special section called Hot Athens, where they only let the hot people in.

• 2:31Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, yeah, and I will never see it.

• 2:35Speaker 03

I believe people are very, very sweaty.

• 2:37Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, okay, so you meant temperature.

• 2:39Speaker 03

If you're into that, they're probably also hot, but there's a, there's a nice spread of hot and not hot people in Greece.

• 2:46Conan O'Brien?

  Okay.

• 2:46Speaker 03

  Like everywhere. Yeah, yeah.

• 2:48Conan O'Brien?

Well, this is, I mean, this is fascinating to me because often people ask for my help in some small way. Can I come and help them do this or help them do that? You, I'm told, think you can help me, but I don't know what you're talking about. No one's disclosed that to me, so why don't you tell me, Stelios, how you think you could help me?

• 3:09Speaker 03

Well, sure, I've been watching you for a long time. You do do a difficult job. I've worked in TV, not like you, but I know how nerve wracking it can be. It's been years you have been conditioned to be running all day long and doing things. And I think you need to chill, man.

• 3:29Conan O'Brien?

  Oh, wow.

• 3:31Speaker 03

I think you need to chill, I can help you on this.

• 3:33Conan O'Brien?

Can I say something, Stelios, and I'm not kidding? This message, I am so ready for this message right now. Because of, I've enjoyed a very, been very fortunate, crazily fortunate to enjoy a very nice career. But it has been a lot of work. I am, I run hot.

• 3:55Conan O'Brien?

I am always activated and on. I will do a show, a 20 minute show for anybody I meet in the street, until they surrender and leave or run away.

• 4:08Conan O'Brien?

I think that on the inside, all the plumbing is probably just ravaged.

• 4:14Conan O'Brien?

By years of high pressure and various acids released through the cells. So yes, I am ready to chill and Stelios coming right now. You might be my angel. You might be my Grecian angel.

• 4:29Speaker 03

How are you gonna do it, Stelios? I'm your man. Look at the way he's chilling on the chair.

• 4:32Conan O'Brien?

I know. You know, all I can see, Stelios, is you from the collarbone up. But even that much, you're managing to show incredible chill.

• 4:41Speaker 03

  Everybody do the Stelios.

• 4:42Conan O'Brien?

  You are.

• 4:44Speaker 03

I'm also with my underwear from the down, so like you do.

• 4:49Conan O'Brien?

  Please, don't excite me.

• 4:50Speaker 03

Are you not on your underwear there?

• 4:52Conan O'Brien?

Uh, I wear, yes, I'm just in my underwear, but I wear 15 layers of underwear. They're all corduroy and various burlaps. Um, I'm not a chill dude and it's time. We get one life. I know that, Stelios, and I just want to chill. How would you accomplish that? Let's say I came to visit you in Athens. How would you chill me out?

• 5:13Speaker 03

Please do, okay? First of all, uh, it'll be nice for you. Have you, I don't know if you've been here, but you haven't been here on a show.

• 5:20Conan O'Brien?

I have never, I have never been to Greece.

• 5:23Speaker 03

  Come on, Conan.

• 5:24Conan O'Brien?

And my daughter just went there. She stayed in hostels and backpacked and slept on friends' couches. And she went to Athens and she loved it. She's been dreaming about going there because she has read all the Greek myths and everything, loves it. I've never been.

• 5:44Speaker 03

Conan, it is the cradle of civilization that is collapsing right now. So you should come, you know, and. I thought that was Pittsburgh.

• 5:54Speaker 03

Let's agree to disagree. Yeah, I mean, uh, you can come over here and I'm gonna take you out. And we're gonna go for a coffee. Okay, you're gonna leave your phone aside. You're gonna leave everything aside. And we're just gonna people watch and chat and chill. We have a long history of philosophy in this country.

• 6:15Conan O'Brien?

  Yes.

• 6:16Speaker 03

And we like to talk a lot and we like to spend a lot of time drinking coffee.

• 6:21Conan O'Brien?

I like how you want to chill me out.

• 6:23Speaker 03

  I know.

• 6:24Conan O'Brien?

But it seems like there's a lot of, the first thing you're saying is lots of coffee, constant coffee. But I metabolize coffee. I can drink three coffees and go to bed. So I have that gene.

• 6:35Speaker 03

There you go, same. Same. And we can do decaf in the end of the day if you want, but the point is not the coffee.

• 6:41Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 6:41Speaker 03

We say coffee, but you can drink whatever you want.

• 6:44Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 6:44Speaker 03

The point is to sit for hours in one table with one order and look at people, chat, and start getting, you know, this tipping point of like, oh, I gotta do things, I gotta do things. Now I'm here, there's a tipping point and you just let go and you chill. So I can help you do that.

• 7:06Conan O'Brien?

I love this. I believe him. I love this and I'm going to tell you something else. Your whole vibe, a word I don't use often because I think it's entrenched firmly in the early seventies, but your whole vibe is relaxing. Just in the time I've been talking to you, I think my heart rate has dropped thirty beats per minute.

• 7:29Speaker 03

  That is a compliment.

• 7:30Speaker 04

I feel so much more relaxed just sitting here.

• 7:32Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, yeah. Well, you're always pretty relaxed.

• 7:35Speaker 04

  That's true.

• 7:35Conan O'Brien?

You don't give a shit about anything.

• 7:36Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 7:39Conan O'Brien?

Stelios, I like this idea. And tell me a little bit about yourself. Are you with someone? Are you single? Because I would imagine this vibe you have, this chill Stelios vibe would play very well with anyone of either sex.

• 7:57Speaker 04

  In hot Athens.

• 8:00Speaker 03

I am with somebody, yes. I love somebody, although today was a weird day, but let's see.

• 8:07Conan O'Brien?

  Okay.

• 8:07Speaker 03

You went spot on there without knowing.

• 8:10Conan O'Brien?

The laser now, the T-Rex saw movement and is turning towards it.

• 8:15Conan O'Brien?

  Was there an argument today?

• 8:18Speaker 03

Much more than that, but uh I'm trying to fix it, so I'll be okay.

• 8:22Speaker 02

  Oh, man.

• 8:22Conan O'Brien?

Okay, is this person i- in the house right now, or have they evacuated?

• 8:27Speaker 03

  No, no, no.

• 8:28Conan O'Brien?

  Okay.

• 8:29Speaker 03

  It's okay.

• 8:29Conan O'Brien?

If I can help you with that, let me know, because I'm very good repairing relationships.

• 8:34Speaker 02

What if that's the twist? You know, you go to Athens and you help him, you know? And in through that, you've learned to chill because you've had to teach the Chillmeister to love again.

• 8:44Conan O'Brien?

Wow. Wow, this is a great screenplay you just wrote.

• 8:46Speaker 02

  I know.

• 8:47Conan O'Brien?

I hope it never is me.

• 8:48Speaker 02

  It's called Hot Athens.

• 8:49Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 8:52Conan O'Brien?

What about, because you say people watching, is there anything other than people watching? Because I can people watch for a little bit. It's very hard for me not to get involved. That's the problem. I don't just watch people. I watch people for a little bit, and then I go over there and I get involved and...

• 9:10Speaker 03

  Conan.

• 9:11Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 9:12Speaker 03

This is my favorite trait of yours. This is the thing I connect with you. That's why I watch your travel shows. Because I love just going in a place and start talking to stranger strangers. And this is how I've traveled for years. I'm talking to anybody. I have a great ability to do that and I connect uh with you on that. And we will do that. And that, that can be done in a chilled way. It doesn't have to be, you know? We can go crazy, we can do bits together, you can do your bits, obviously.

• 9:47Conan O'Brien?

Oh my god, you make it sound like it's a condition. Of course, you'll probably have your...

• 9:55Conan O'Brien?

You'll have your fit that you have every now and then, and I'll put a wallet on your tongue. You'll be treated.

• 10:00Speaker 03

I'll let you do your thing and whatever.

• 10:01Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, no, you're not wrong. You're not wrong um that I have these comedic seizures um that just bum everyone out. But uh but I... I'm wondering, would we go anywhere besides the coffee shop? Or would we, would I go all the way to Athens and just hang with you in the coffee shop? Where else do you think we might go?

• 10:24Speaker 03

Well, there's, there's a lot of interesting places uh to visit and see. It depends how much deep you want to get in the culture and in the...

• 10:32Conan O'Brien?

  Deep.

• 10:32Speaker 03

...ponesty of it, that, you know, true things.

• 10:35Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 10:36Speaker 03

Uh, we could get to the Acropolis in here and there, and I'll be nice and everything. But, but the real deal...

• 10:42Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 10:43Speaker 03

Happens again, first in coffee shops, second, and not just any hip hop coffee shop and stuff. We're gonna go down to places that are old people smoking inside and just slagging one another and they're just are miserable and then suddenly very joyful. And it's a whole human geography over there. An underground scene you can explore. And also, we could go to the bazooka, which I normally hate and I don't like, and I'll explain the concept in a second. But with you, I'd go in a heartbeat because we're gonna laugh a lot.

• 11:23Conan O'Brien?

What is it? What is the bazooka?

• 11:25Speaker 03

The bazooka is basically venues for live music, specific live music. Okay, it's been happening for years here. Almost like a tradition, it is a tradition, really. It's, um, most of the times they have really, really bad Greek music with really cheesy, it's like a soap opera for live music, basically, in my view. But what you can appreciate and see and enjoy there is that shit is going down. Like, people go in, um, normal. Uh, sometimes I'm saying miserable because we're kind of people in Greece that we have extreme misery in our daily life and extreme joy at the same time.

• 12:08Conan O'Brien?

  Oh, wow, okay.

• 12:09Speaker 03

So that, I think, in my view, this is what characterizes us. Uh, this duality of, uh, the worst kind of complaining and very joyous behaviors. Um, so in there, people drink and it's where they used to break plates. I'm sure you know the stereotype.

• 12:26Conan O'Brien?

  Oh, yeah.

• 12:27Speaker 03

  Uh, which was true before.

• 12:28Conan O'Brien?

It's the zorba, zorba, the Greek kind of caricature, but there's some truth in it, which is live life to the fullest. That means, uh, what is it zorba says? The whole catastrophe, meaning the good, the bad, the highs, the lows. Um, you know, it's all happening. You've gotta, you've gotta embrace it all.

• 12:49Speaker 03

Exactly. They're mostly drunk in there, but yeah.

• 12:51Conan O'Brien?

  Oh.

• 12:53Speaker 03

  Also that.

• 13:01Conan O'Brien?

You know, winning an award, that's a big achievement, right?

• 13:04Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 13:04Conan O'Brien?

Every now and then in life, maybe something nice like that comes your way. Winning them consistently is almost impossible. It just doesn't happen, you know? Well, guess what? Winning five times in six years? You know what that sounds like to me? Sustained excellence.

• 13:18Speaker 01

  Nice.

• 13:19Conan O'Brien?

• 14:32Speaker 01

  I fell for a scam?

• 14:33Conan O'Brien?

Now, you didn't lose too much money, but you did lose.

• 14:35Speaker 01

I did lose and it was very inconvenient and now they put protections on my account like I'm dumb.

• 14:41Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, I don't know where they got that impression.

• 16:32Conan O'Brien?

Coca-Cola Zero Sugar is so good, it's almost impossible not to finish it before the meal arrives. It's just too good to wait. That happens to me sometimes.

• 16:40Speaker 01

  Me, too.

• 16:41Conan O'Brien?

You can try rules like no sipping until the appetizer arrives, or you tell your friend, "Don't let me touch my glass." But every time you're staring at an empty glass... So if you've ever finished your Coke Zero before the first fry hits the table, you're among friends. It happens. Occupational hazard with Coke Zero.

• 16:58Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 16:59Conan O'Brien?

Real Coca-Cola taste, zero sugar, too good to wait. Enjoy an ice cold Coca-Cola Zero Sugar today.

• 17:11Conan O'Brien?

Here's what you've told me so far, Stelios. I'm just gonna sum it up. You wanna take me out and really relax me. That involves, we go somewhere together and we drink a ton of coffee and stare at people awkwardly. Then you say, "We go from there into a basement where there are very old men who hit each other." Then you say, "We move on from that to a place that has the very worst music." Stelios, if you were a tour guide, I think you'd be beaten over the head with a soft Greek cheese.

• 17:41Speaker 03

Correct. I did ask if you want the real experience or not, though.

• 17:44Conan O'Brien?

I do. And listen, I do. I'm, you know, I'm in for it. The only thing I wish is that there was some kind of sex club. You know, you completely... Where's that? What's up with the sex club?

• 17:56Speaker 03

It's full of it. Full of it.

• 17:58Conan O'Brien?

  Okay. Well, come on.

• 17:59Speaker 03

We can go to sex clubs if you want.

• 18:01Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, I mean, I can't really do anything. And when I mean can, not because of my marital contract, because I'm physically unable. I was neutered. Neutered about six years ago. Actually, it was 36 years ago. But that's not important. What's important is that I need sex to be part of this, just because I'm a voyeur. Was a word for it in our language, creep. I'm a creep. And so I want that to be part of my travels. So just work that in. It could be a coffee sex shop where the sexual acts are happening and I'm sipping coffee in a corner, or old men are having sex. I'll do that, too. I don't care.

• 18:33Speaker 03

We can go to places that are organized to give you this experience, but also if you wanna be a real creep, you can go to beaches, because we have, it's the Mediterranean.

• 18:43Conan O'Brien?

Okay, now you're talking. I am a real creep.

• 18:47Conan O'Brien?

You know, you're talking to an expert skier, like an Olympic skier, and saying, "Would you like to try the double black?" What are you talking about? That's all I do. So I'm down with that.

• 18:57Speaker 02

You're talking about a nude beach?

• 19:00Speaker 03

No, no, I'm talking about people sometimes in Greece, because a lot of people live there with their parents, because we're poor. And people go to, they don't have where to go have sex with their girlfriend. So they find spots around a beach or, you know, some places like that. Mostly the beach or a nice view area. And they go have sex in the car. So if you want to be a real creep, you can go creep on the window.

• 19:24Conan O'Brien?

Yes, I want to look in the window of a car where people are having sex. That's, and I think that's a reasonable request.

• 19:31Speaker 02

How do you feel about Greek jail?

• 19:33Conan O'Brien?

  Well.

• 19:33Speaker 03

Exactly, that was my next point. If you want to get arrested.

• 19:36Conan O'Brien?

I might move on to other kinds of sex.

• 19:40Speaker 03

Doesn't sound like a relaxing thing.

• 19:41Conan O'Brien?

As long as there's sex, I'm okay. Jail sex, car sex.

• 19:45Speaker 02

  All right.

• 19:47Conan O'Brien?

You know, I want to experience life, the highs, the lows.

• 19:50Speaker 02

  The catastrophe, the whole catastrophe.

• 19:52Conan O'Brien?

You know what? I have a request of you, Stelios, which is.

• 19:55Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 19:56Conan O'Brien?

I want, I want you to make me a tape that I can play for myself when I'm trying to go to sleep.

• 20:02Speaker 02

  Oh.

• 20:02Conan O'Brien?

Which is Stelios just talking to me, because you have such a soothing aura and voice, doesn't he?

• 20:08Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 20:09Conan O'Brien?

I mean, just a voice, it's like, Conan, you know.

• 20:12Speaker 03

Conan, Conan, listen. Go to sleep. Joe Para has done this perfectly.

• 20:18Conan O'Brien?

  Who?

• 20:18Speaker 03

  Joe Para.

• 20:19Speaker 02

  Oh, the comic Joe Para.

• 20:20Conan O'Brien?

  Has it?

• 20:21Speaker 03

  Yeah, has done this perfectly.

• 20:23Conan O'Brien?

  Has he?

• 20:24Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 20:25Speaker 02

Can you give Conan just a little good night message that we can use for him every night?

• 20:28Conan O'Brien?

  I can do that.

• 20:29Speaker 02

When we talk him in here at the studio.

• 20:31Conan O'Brien?

Because they're always trying to calm me down. What if you just made a little thing very quickly that just calmed me down?

• 20:36Speaker 03

Sure, if you want to see the face of a 37-year-old Greek man with a beard to calm you down at night and put you to bed, I'll do that for you.

• 20:44Conan O'Brien?

Okay, start by just saying, Conan, it's me, Stelios, you know.

• 20:48Speaker 03

All right, we're doing it now?

• 20:49Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah, why not?

• 20:50Speaker 03

  All right, let's go.

• 20:51Conan O'Brien?

Just quickly, it'll be a quick one.

• 20:54Speaker 03

Hi Conan, it's Stelios and I'm here to put you to bed.

• 20:59Conan O'Brien?

Okay, now I'm really, I'm not gonna sleep.

• 21:02Speaker 02

  You're just turned on.

• 21:03Conan O'Brien?

I'm completely turned on. I mean, you are human Viagra, Stelios.

• 21:08Speaker 02

  Wow.

• 21:09Conan O'Brien?

  I mean.

• 21:10Speaker 02

Okay. Somebody get you a car at the beach, let's go.

• 21:14Conan O'Brien?

The duvet just exploded on my bed. So this isn't gonna work.

• 21:21Speaker 02

  Right.

• 21:22Conan O'Brien?

And I don't know, I mean, Jesus, you could read me, you could read the Warren Report to me on the Kennedy assassination, I'd be aroused.

• 21:31Speaker 02

  Well, you would anyway.

• 21:33Speaker 03

That's the most compliments I've ever received by any man or woman in my life, so thank you.

• 21:39Conan O'Brien?

I'm very impressed, Stelios, you are very, I think, I think you're a very thoughtful person. I get the sense that you are a world traveler, someone who is not just a citizen of Greece, but a citizen of the world, and that you've picked up a very mature philosophy of what this life means and how we shouldn't waste it. Is that a fair assessment?

• 22:03Speaker 03

It is, yeah. I've had a lot of things happening in my life, from serious disease to traveling around the world for 10, 15 years, 10 unstoppable, 50 countries, and I've met a lot of people in the streets, they've hosted me in their homes, I've seen goodness in the world, actually, and I have to say this, since we're talking now and people are gonna watch us, most of people in the world are good and nice people.

• 22:33Conan O'Brien?

  Yes.

• 22:34Speaker 03

For real. I've experienced this, day after day, night after night, everywhere in the world. People put me up, gave me food, gave me shelter, and I just met them. So...

• 22:50Speaker 03

Most people in the world are good.

• 22:51Conan O'Brien?

That is what I have also, that is what I have also found is that, uh, and because for some reason as humans we're drawn to the negative, we have a media that feeds us the negative. The negative seems to sell sadly. Um, that is the view we get. Obviously there are governments and, uh, systems and hierarchies that can, that can turn evil, but I do think, uh, many more people are good than are, than are bad in their heart.

• 23:21Speaker 03

  Absolutely.

• 23:21Conan O'Brien?

And so I've found the same thing. Um, so I would very much, I think we're like minded. Uh, I would like to go, I've never been to Athens. I'd like to go to Athens. Um, have coffee, go find the old men, go find the bad music, but then I want to hit a sex club. Um, I mean, and I want to.

• 23:39Speaker 03

I'm gonna take you there though.

• 23:40Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, and I want to see some really freaky shit. No, I, I'm not joking, as long as they have coffee.

• 23:47Conan O'Brien?

I drank more coffee at a strip club than anyone you've ever seen. Um, and I'm just, I spend most of my time just urinating in the bathroom. I miss all the good stuff. They're like, oh, seven people just, uh, oiled up and attacked an ostrich nude and, uh, it was the most erotic thing. And I'm like, well, I was in the bathroom peeing for 40 minutes. Um, but that's what happens. But Stelios, I had, I do admire your, uh, sense of calm and I think I am a firm believer that travel is magical. And I think the fact that you've traveled for 10 years gave you a perspective on, on life that is invaluable.

• 24:23Speaker 03

  Exactly.

• 24:24Conan O'Brien?

  So.

• 24:24Speaker 03

It's the best education you can, anybody can ever get.

• 24:27Conan O'Brien?

  Yeah.

• 24:27Speaker 03

  Perspective.

• 24:28Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, travel, see the world, see what's out there. And it's very hard to, it's famous saying, it's hard to hate up close. Just see people, go see people and spend time with them.

• 24:38Speaker 03

Exactly. Uh, I don't know if we're wrapping up, but I do want to tell you something. Uh, I do want to actually sincerely thank you from one human being to the other because, From your comedy, and I watch you regularly. I've had, first of all, a lot of laughs. And you actually helped a lot of times that I was feeling down and so on. Whenever I'm actually, you know, in a bad mood and so on, I do put the podcast on. And I put the intros and the outros, not the interviews, to see you guys chat. And your bits on the spot are amazing. You have an incredible mind, and I have to give you this. So, thank you for your work and your service.

• 25:23Conan O'Brien?

Oh, thank you so much. I love hearing that. It's the only, I would say it's the only reason I do it. I think I do it because I, it's just, I can't not do it. But I'm really happy when I can make someone feel a little better. So, thank you so much for saying that. That means a lot to me. And I think we gotta, we gotta take this thing to the next level. Stelios. Sex pub. Yeah.

• 25:48Speaker 03

  I'm all right. Second base.

• 25:50Conan O'Brien?

First, the old men and the bad music. The coffee. But Stelios, thank you so much. And have a great day, really.

• 25:58Speaker 03

Nice to meet you, guys. Nice to meet you, Conan. Enjoy.

• 26:01Conan O'Brien?

  Thanks, Stelios.

• 26:02Speaker 03

  Enjoy and be safe.

• 26:02Conan O'Brien?

  Good to see you soon.

• 26:03Speaker 03

Have you ever had a cat, Sona?

• 27:47Speaker 01

  Never.

• 27:48Conan O'Brien?

Okay, I have had multiple cats.

• 27:50Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:50Conan O'Brien?

I had a cat growing up, it was my cat. My wife and I now have three cats.

• 27:54Speaker 01

  That's a lot.

• 27:55Conan O'Brien?

Yeah, we have three cats and two dogs. And I have to say, the dogs are so appreciative. Cats hard to win over.

• 28:02Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 28:02Conan O'Brien?

  Cats are cats, they're tricky.

• 28:03Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 28:04Conan O'Brien?
