SC EP:1131 The Devil's Promenade

Ernest writes "This encounter takes place in 2001 in Ottawa County, Oklahoma. I was 16 years old. I am 40 now. My three younger sisters and I were coming back from visiting our baby cousin who was recently born. It was about 10 pm driving down the road and headed back home. We see a figure walking down the side of the road, just casually. I mentioned to my sister in the front seat it was awful late to be walking down a dark road without any type of lights. I slow down as I come up behind him. He stood about 9 to 10 feet tall with almost a dark fur coat. He slowly turned his head, and he had the evilest yellow eyes I have ever seen. By this time, my younger sisters are in the back seat screaming and crying, saying don't stop Ernie. I proceed to lock the doors and speed off. To this day we all have the same story. My sister's age at the time is 15 8 6." We will also be speaking to Sara. Sara writes "I was driving in Kansas somewhere just a few miles from Norton. It was about 730 in the morning, the sky was clear blue, no wind, just cold. Out of the blue I felt something hit the back end of my car. It hit me hard enough to look in my rear view mirror…I saw nothing. Then I looked in the Sideview mirror and saw something that looked to be about the size of a small pony or large dog…running across the road. The fields were empty, just fences and fields getting ready to be planted. I got a clear view of it. It had long flowing brown and white hair, like what you would see on an Afghan hound. On the whole body, my brain immediately thought I should stop because I assumed it was a dog. In the middle of nowhere then I saw where the head should be and my brain couldn't compute at all, because it was a human face looking right at me as it ran across the road. I do not understand what I saw but the vision is clear in my head two weeks later….my son thinks it was a skin walker, or dog man…but I don't really believe in that so I am not sure what to think…I am just curious if there have been any other similar sightings in the area or if I saw something that I just can't explain. I would love your opinion."

It looked like somebody was bent over and had their head in the window of the deer blind and it either heard me or smelt me and he pulled his head out of the tent and stood straight up and that shocked me. They don't make people that big.

• 0:31Speaker 01

The way it moved, almost as if it was gliding across the beach. I've never seen anything move like that in my life.

• 0:45Speaker 01

They were screaming at each other in gibberish.

• 0:49Speaker 01

It sounded like a language and they were chuntering away, back and forwards, back and forwards, back and forwards.

• 0:57Speaker 01

I know what a bear looks like and there is no way on this planet that what I saw bears.

• 1:13Speaker 02

  911, what are you reporting?

• 1:14Speaker 03

  Jesus Christ, you better...

• 1:16Speaker 02

  Sir?

• 1:17Speaker 03

  See ya!

• 1:18Speaker 02

  Hello?

• 1:19Speaker 03

  Get somebody out here.

• 1:20Speaker 02

  What's going on now, sir?

• 1:21Speaker 03

That son of a bitch is about six foot nine, I don't know.

• 1:24Speaker 02

Do you see him now, sir?

• 1:25Speaker 03

Yes, I'm looking right at him.

• 1:27Speaker 02

  Uh-oh.

• 1:31Speaker 04

Hi, I'm Becky. And I'm Mercedes. We're looking for a guy with big feet, 6'8", brown eyes, always hides. We found him on our favorite podcast. Sasquatch Chronicles!

• 2:22Wes Germer?

Welcome to the show, everyone. Thanks for being here tonight. Got a great show planned for you. We'll be chatting with Ernest, and Ernest comes to us from Oklahoma. And back 25 years ago, he's 16 years old, going down the road with his sisters in the car, when they see this creature on the side of the road. And Ernest was shocked when he saw it. It's something that has stuck with him throughout his whole life. And we'll also be chatting with Sarah, and Sarah comes to us from Kansas. And two weeks ago, she's driving home and something hit her car. And when she looked back, she thought it was a dog. But she said it had a human face, and it's really bothered her.

• 3:06Wes Germer?

And I'll let her go into it. If you've had an encounter and you'd like to be on the show, shoot me an email. My email address is [email protected]. And if you get a chance, check out sasquatchchronicles.com. You can become a member and get additional shows. Let's jump into it tonight. I want to welcome Ernest to the show. Ernest, thanks for coming on.

• 3:32Speaker 02

Hey, thanks for having me, man. I look forward to sharing this story with you guys.

• 3:36Wes Germer?

Yeah, I'm happy to have you. If you would, can it take us back? We're going back 20, almost 25 years ago, out there in Oklahoma. What were you doing and what happened?

• 3:49Speaker 02

Well, um, man, I've got some cousins who live, uh, out in town in Peoria. Um, she was just had her oldest son, which he'd be about twenty-four, twenty-five now. Um, we went out there, uh, on spring break to go visit the, visit the baby. Um, it was about normal evening, me and my three sisters. Uh, I was sixteen, the other one was fifteen, and eight and six were in the backseat and, uh, we were driving back home, uh, back home to Commerce, home with Nikki and everybody watching baseball. Um, going back through, we were in between, uh, Peoria and Quopec, uh, getting ready to hit Interstate forty-four. There's an overpass.

• 4:29Speaker 02

Uh, headed down the road and, uh, I just noticed something about a hundred and fifty, two hundred yards ahead of us on the, uh, on my, on the, uh, other side of the road headed, walking with my flow of traffic. And I looked at my sister, uh, who was fifteen at the time and I looked at her and said, Melissa, I said, um, it's awful late for a guy to be walking down the road with, with no type of lights because it's like ten o'clock at night. And she's like, yeah, or she's like, yeah, I mean, that is, uh, kind of crazy. And the two younger sisters in the backseat were just kind of talking amongst themselves, no big deal. And, uh, get closer to it, the, the creature or the shadow, it just starts getting bigger and bigger and bigger. And I look at my sister and I'm like,

• 5:11Speaker 02

are you seeing what I'm seeing? And she's like, yeah, that's kind of crazy. And, uh, get a little bit closer, then I noticed that the, the fur, it had fur and it stood about nine, nine to ten feet tall, just kind of knowing something's not right at this point. We're just kind of like, I look at her and she looks at me and she's like, at this time, the two sisters in the backseat, they're, they're starting to freak out. They, they don't know what they're seeing. And at this point, um, I'm starting to slow down just to try to figure out what's going on. And at this point, when I, we get probably, I'd say probably

• 5:48Speaker 02

ten, fifteen yards from it and it stops, turns around, looks at us, the eyes were yellow, just the craziest yellow I've ever seen. And it just stops, takes a look at us. And my, my two sisters in the backseat are screaming, don't stop, don't stop, Ernie, go, go, go. And at this point, I'm telling them, just be quiet, lay down on the floorboard and we're going to get by this. And it looked at us for about, I'd say probably five to 10 seconds, just took off and walked into the woods and didn't kind of, didn't run, didn't do anything. It was just kind of, just kind of surreal that it just kind of looked at us, saw us, walked in the woods. And at that point, they were scared and I sped off and

• 6:31Speaker 02

we drove on down the road and got back home. And it was just one of the most surreal stories that I have ever seen. And like I said, we just, we talked about it until every year around the time that it came around. And then unfortunately, the, the sister who was in the front seat, she passed away in 2023 to, you're the cancer and one of the, we'd always talked about going down to Hanobia to the big trip festival and life got in the way. We never got a chance to get down there and who's going to tell our story down there. And one of the last things I told her, of course, the past was that I would continue to tell the story and make sure that it continues to be sold and as many people can hear it. So, but like I said, the other two sisters, if you used to pull

• 7:13Speaker 02

them aside and ask them the same questions, they, they still to this day, being eight and six and now that they're in their 30s, will corroborate the story 100% to what happened that night, which is, it's just insane.

• 7:28Wes Germer?

Yeah. Once you see one of these creatures, it's hard to let it go. I mean, it will stay with you for the rest of your life. This thing sounds like it was pretty close. I mean, it's, I don't know how many feet that is, but it's basically on the other side of the road. What were some things that kind of stay with you today? When you kind of look back at that moment, as far as like the creature's features, or is there anything that kind of stays with you?

• 7:56Speaker 02

Yeah, um, uh, you know how you're driving down the road, you got the flow of traffic going north and south, or we'll just use north and south as the beacon. It was on the, actually, the other side of the road, on my side of the road, walking as it would be coming the other direction, but walking towards, walking the same direction I was. I would say, you know, probably from one side of the road to the other, I would say probably no more than ten, fifteen feet. Uh, it was, like I said, it was not, about nine foot tall. It just had the dark, it was dark brown fur and yellow eyes. I mean, it was nighttime and, you know, the headlights on it. It kinda got that like, when the headlights hit it, it froze kinda like a deer, you know, but definitely wasn't a deer. You know, deer freezing the headlights when you get, when they get caught.

• 8:40Speaker 02

And I think that's what happened. It got frozen in the headlights and it was just one of those, just

• 8:46Speaker 02

coincidental things. And like I said, it stared at us and we made eye contact with it. Like I said, noticed the yellow eyes and at ten, fifteen seconds, it looked at us and then just kinda felt that we weren't any kind of danger to it and we just, uh, he just walked off into the, walked off into the, into the woods and walked like a human, you know, kinda like a, a big tall basketball player and just was just big, long strides and I, I, I'm forty now and it's, was still like it happened yesterday. It, you know, the thing that stayed with me the most was the yellow eyes. And like I said, it could have been just from the headlights. But I said, and you know, honestly, the, the typical,

• 9:28Speaker 02

the typical feature, the one thing that did stand out was like, you know how you see on the, on the TV shows and things like that where they do show the, like the artist renderings of Bigfoot? They were almost, it seemed like it was almost uncanny like that. I mean, I don't know if it, if you could really compare it to that, but I said, but it was one of those features that, that the way that the, uh, CGI of things create, create a Bigfoot, I mean, that is one of the things that I do think that they are portrayed very accurately within CGI and things like that.

• 9:59Wes Germer?

When you saw this thing Ernest, did you get the impression you were looking at more of a man? Or did you get the impression you were looking at more of an animal?

• 10:08Speaker 02

Uh, it was, it was more of an animal. I mean, you can tell by just the fur, the, it had, it had a, it had a, it had human features, uh, walked like a human, had all the characteristics. But I mean, being just abnormally tall and the, uh, just the, the fur is, if you know a human doesn't have fur. So I mean, and it was just, you can definitely tell it wasn't a man. You can definitely tell it wasn't human. But it didn't run. It didn't like make a break. It didn't do anything. It just kinda turned around, looked at us. Like I said, the 10, 15 seconds after that, it turned its head, walked off into the, walked off into the, into the woods. So I mean, it was just kinda, it was, it was random because all the stories that I've heard,

• 10:51Speaker 02

that people say it, the big fella, he'd throw rocks, do whatever, uh, dump trees, but, and, and then scurry off. It, it, it didn't scurry off. It just kinda, it just casually walked off like, like, and it was like, hey, we ran into it, passed us and just said, hey, uh, nice to see you. And we parted on ways and went on, went on with our business.

• 11:13Wes Germer?

Yeah. The behavior that you're describing and most eyewitnesses describe doesn't really sound like an animal. I mean, you would think an animal would bolt off or would take off running and these things don't. Maybe it wasn't too worried about you guys. Um, you know, when you were looking at that eyes, you were describing the yellow eyes and I know you've seen eye shine out there in Oklahoma. Do you think it was eye shine as far as what you were seeing? Or did, did you kinda get the impression like the eyes were glowing?

• 11:45Speaker 02

Uh, that, that's something that it is kinda hard to describe. I, I wouldn't necessarily say they were glowing. I do think it had something to do with the lights and you know, and I do think it had something to do with the headlights. Because like I said, the eye shine and everything like that. And like I said, usually when the eyes shine on like a deer or something like that, they're usually green. And a different kind of tone where you know, kind of like you catch an animal, catch it like a dog or a cat and the eyes turn red or green, whatever. This was just something completely different than. So I do think a lot of, I do think there, I would say it's probably fifty fifty, a glow and a shine because. Like I said, you do catch animals off guard and their eyes do shine, do light, but like I said, it was just something I'd never seen before. So.

• 12:28Speaker 02

I'm gonna, I'm gonna, me logically thinking, I'm gonna think, I'm gonna give it a fifty fifty split on that.

• 12:35Wes Germer?

And this obviously had an impact on you. You were sixteen when this happened to you. And here we are twenty five years later, still talking about it. How did it kind of impact you?

• 12:46Speaker 02

I mean, it kind of changed my life. Like I said, I, I've always thought things logically. Um, like I said, I'm. Going to school, um, preparing for law school, things like that. So I have to look at things logically and be, uh. To have a definite answer. And it was just one of those things that it just, it just casted a, casted a doubt of. There are things out there that we don't actually know about. And it's just crazy to think that there, this could be the missing link between us and primatch or whatever. It honestly changed my life to opened up my mind to where the possibility of. Cryptology and things like that.

• 13:24Speaker 02

Do kind of real and Native American mythology. What did the Native Americans see when, when they came here before us? Um, what was going on? Whenever, before we got here. And like I said, it's that whole, that whole, that whole experience. Has, has shaped it from, from the time I was sixteen till now. I try to consume as much, uh. Cryptic, cryptic, cryptozoology, things like that, as much as I can. Get into the Native American mythology. Um, watch TV shows about Bigfoot, podcasts, books, things like that. And just kind of, I try to connect with other people who have had. Other sightings and everything like that. And that's how I got connected to the BFRO,

• 14:06Speaker 02

shared the story with them. And then they kind of, say Carter from the BFRO reached out to me and we spoke and like I said, he, they've got it posted on their, on their site and they gave it a, a class A sighting, which is according to them, their most credible, their most credible sightings with documented different people and everything. And it, like I said, it's just opened up a whole new world of that. There are things out there that we don't actually know that it kind of makes this, makes this, makes the human existence small in the grand scheme of things.

• 14:38Wes Germer?

Yeah, that's actually a great way to put it. I don't know that I've heard it put that way before. Did you guys ever go back to the spot where you saw the creature?

• 14:48Speaker 02

Yeah, we actually, uh, we, we go back, uh, we pass it all the time, you know, like I said, that's one of those, uh, like I said, it's in between, um, between Quapaw and, uh, Peoria, which is Quapaw named after the Quapaw Indian tribe that was moved here from Trail of Tears, things like that. And, uh, there's a lot of paranormal, um, activity. Crypto stuff goes on out in that area. I mean, they have a spook light out there, which is probably five miles from there, which is a ball of light that has never been actually determined. And, uh, like I said, we've got, there's native, like I said, you've got Native Americans who believe in the skinwalkers and the windigos and things like that. So, and you hear stories about that all the time, little people, things like

• 15:32Speaker 02

that. Dear ladies, I mean, there's all kinds of stories that tie into, tie into Bigfoot and, uh, like I said, the, the skinwalkers and things like that. So, I mean, it's just, we go out there, um, we're out there probably two or three times a week. So, I mean, it's not a, it's a place that, that we actually go out there and visit on, on a regular occurrence.

• 15:55Wes Germer?

Yeah, that light you're talking about, I know it's called um the Joplin Light. I know it's also called, it's called the Hornet Light, isn't it? The Hornet Spook Light?

• 16:05Speaker 02

The Hornet Spook Light, yep. That's exactly what I'm, that is exactly what I'm speaking of, the Hornet Spook Light.

• 16:10Wes Germer?

And Ernest, isn't that near what the locals call the Devil's Promenade?

• 16:15Speaker 02

The Devil's Promenade is actually the, is actually the park up there by the Quapaw Pile grounds. As you're coming around the bend, there are Quapaw Pile grounds in there, and that's kind of where the deer lady and the, and the little people and everything, there's a little people's bridge. But the Devil's Promenade is the actual bridge that crosses the Spring River, and then you've got the Lover's Leap, uh, where the Native Americans believe that, uh, uh, uh, different, uh, Warring tribes, uh, a male and a female, they got together and their families didn't want them, so they jumped off into the river to their death. And there's actually a, uh, Indian burial ground, just about 150 feet from that rock to where they said that they jumped off into the Spring River.

• 16:57Wes Germer?

Yeah, I had a truck driver on the show one time. He was a long haul truck driver. And I asked him, you know, what was the weirdest thing he's ever seen? And he starts talking about this deer woman, uh, that he saw on the side of the highway, half woman, half deer and, uh, completely black eyes and completely nude. I mean, it was one of the weirdest stories I'd ever heard. And I thought, no, I, you know, I don't know what to make of that. And then I got contacted actually from the Cherokee and the Seneca in your area. And they kind of described to me what that deer woman is and, uh, there's a long history of it. That entity, whatever it is, it sounds like a demon to me, but, um, have you ever seen the Hornet Spook Lights?

• 17:40Speaker 02

I have actually seen a spook light a couple of times. Um, like I said, it's now the county sheriffs have got that road blocked off to where you don't actually, can't get down there. The sheriff's kind of, because a lot of kids get on there, drink and do all kinds of stuff that normal teenagers do that we've all done. So I, I, I have seen it twice.

• 17:58Wes Germer?

Do you mind sharing with us what you saw?

• 18:00Speaker 02

Yeah, I've got, I've got all the time you need. Um, yeah, the, the, uh, there, I mean, there's several different legends to what that, what they think it is. Some people think it's like a natural ball of gas that kind of floats in the air and then scientific, they've been trying to prove it scientifically for, for as long as I can remember and they can't. But, uh, I mean, this is going back into the, I want to say the forties and the fifties that people were going out there on this stretch of road and sitting out there with their headlights off and watching this, this ball of light bounce around out, out in the field. And it's actually happened to come into, come up into cars and bounce on the hood, do whatever. But, uh, it's, some people say it's an old Native American chief looking for his head, a miner who,

• 18:46Speaker 02

a miner who lost his head in a mining accident, uh, Native American, uh, chief looking for his family that were slaughtered by the white people. Um, there's a bunch of different, different, uh, Native American or different kind of myths behind what the actual spook light is. I mean, some people say it's headlights from the, uh, from the, from the local, the interstate passing by there, which the interstate's a good fifteen miles from where, from where it's at. So, I mean, it's just kind of a weird, it's in an area like we call the devil's hollow and so, I mean, there's a lot of, a lot of crazy things that goes out there. There was a, just all kinds of weird, just hard to explain, but the spook light is just one of those things that honestly, if, if anybody gets a chance to get down here to look at it,

• 19:30Speaker 02

it's one of those things that people do need to see. It's just, it's hard to describe what it actually is. But it is, it's the most fascinating thing you'll ever see in your life. You're not scared of it. I mean, it's just kind of like, it's like, am I really seeing this? Am I, am I stroking out? Am I, what's going on here? And then by the time you realize what it is, it'll bounce around for, you know, anywhere from forty-five seconds to, to five minutes and then it's gone. And then you can go out there on nights and you'll never see it. And it's, it's just kind of hit or miss if you see it. I do feel that there's a little, something a little paranormal kind of going on with it. So, I mean, it's, it's hard to explain because unless you see it, I, I feel it's paranormal, it has a little bit of a paranormal activity to it.

• 20:16Wes Germer?

Yeah, I agree with you, Ernest. I think that there's something paranormal with the lights. I don't think that it's natural. I don't think a gas is created and this ball of lights, you know, a ball of gas flying around. I think there's more going on there than just, you know, something random happening. And I know it's old hat because you live there, but you guys have this area where more often than not, this light is being seen and it does date back. I think it goes back to like the 1800s is when it was very first being reported. And even if you go look up pictures of the Hornet Spook Light, you'll notice people like

• 20:55Wes Germer?

in the 40s and 50s in the picture, you know, the car, the way they're dressed, taking pictures of this light that they're they're seeing. And I think it's fascinating too, especially in that area, because you'll find all the weird stuff in Oklahoma. It's usually around areas called like the Devil's Promenade, or as you mentioned, the Devil's Hollow. And the locals keep that term for that area. And more often than than not, it wasn't named by the locals. They're taking a Native American word and it kind of translates that way to, you know, like the Devil's Hollow. And it's always in areas like that. You see weird stuff like this.

• 21:40Speaker 02

Yeah. And like I said, getting back onto that, like getting back into the Sasquatch story of it, my cousin who, her brother, the brother of the of our, the uncle to the baby that we went and seen, actually, I want to say, he tells a story about him actually seeing a Sasquatch in the area of the Devil's Promenade when he was going home and he caught the headlight and he saw it actually jump into the river, jump off the bridge into the river and swim on down the river. So he tells that story too. And that happened probably two or three months before we actually seen it.

• 22:16Wes Germer?

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me. And I really appreciate you sharing that. There's so much that comes out of Oklahoma. You know, Ernest, I ask everyone on the show, what do you think Sasquatch is? What's kind of your take?

• 22:30Speaker 02

Man, that is, that is a good question. I have never honestly been asked that, but if, if you're putting me on the spot for an answer for something like that, I do look at it being something like a, uh, I honestly think it could be that missing link that everyone's looking for between, uh, us and, uh, the primate. I, is it, is if they, if we do catch it or do come across a, uh, a body or concrete evidence, I do think that's going to be, that's going to be the missing link between us and, and primates. I, I, it's hard to, it's just hard to describe, but honestly, if you were, if you were asking me right now and you wanted me to give you a nailed down answer, I do think that is our missing link.

• 23:12Wes Germer?

Yeah, I know a lot of people feel that way. And it just amazes me that it's so hard to catch up with. You know, if you asked me, do I want to track a man or do I want to track an animal? I'll take a man all day long. Um, I don't think it would be hard to track and, and kind of hunt down. I don't want to use the word hunt down, but you know what I mean? Like, it, it wouldn't be that hard to really catch up with another human being. Animal's a little bit tougher. And with these things, it's like, no one can catch up with it. And it just, it, it's mind boggling to me. But what's your take on that? Why, why we can't seem to catch up with it?

• 23:52Speaker 02

I honestly, I think that is, I think it has to, cause I think because it has the, uh, the, uh, attributes of a man and it has the attributes of a, has an attributes of an animal. Because I mean, you know, man, we, we have tendencies to where, you know, we can track and study and how we're going to follow a set pattern and do different things along the way, while an animal is completely unpredictable. So I, I think that with that way, with it having the cross between man and animals. So I, it just kind of gives us that unpredictability and it's just hard. I mean, you know, granted that we have, I never found like a dead body of a, of a Sasquatch or anything like that. And I, I do believe they hope funerals and bury them kind of like humans do if they're dead. So I mean, it's just, it's,

• 24:37Speaker 02

I think it has a lot to do with the cross between man and animal. It, it has both those characteristics in it and it plays to those strings on each side. So it's just one of those, one of those things that just kind of, it's going to continue to baffle us until we actually, actually capture one or come across the body or something like that.

• 24:57Wes Germer?

Yeah, it's hard to argue with you on that. There's a lot of times where they do stuff and it's like, it seems very man-like. And then there's other times where they do stuff and it seems very much like an animal. If you had the chance, would you ever want to see another one?

• 25:13Speaker 02

Yeah, actually I do. I mean, I've actually honestly tried to, tried to see, I still go out there and look, still go out there and look, um, jumping, jumping on, getting back to try to see another one. Uh, my parents actually live down around the Grand Lake area to where there's been Bigfoot sightings down there. And, uh, my dad claims he saw one in the road down by their house and I go out there, take a look. Uh, my eight-year-old nephew at the time went out with his BB gun and was like, shoot, pop shots at cans and things like a normal eight-year-old with a BB gun, you know how that is. And a few minutes later, my mom tells me a story and he comes back in the house and he's like, meanwhile, he's like,

• 25:58Speaker 02

there's some, there's some problem going on out here. And she's like, well, what's that? And he wouldn't ever verbalize what it was. And then they were flipping through TV and when the Bigfoot, they, a Bigfoot show came across the TV and as of the story with me and my three sisters, they just kind of stopped to try to hear it. And when that big flash on the screen and, uh, my eight-year-old nephew said, meanwhile, that's what's out there in the woods. And it scared me. So I go out there and I've got trail cam set up, um, out on mom and dad's 10 acres to try to catch one. And we just haven't got conclusive evidence of actually seeing it on the trail cam.

• 26:34Wes Germer?

Yeah, let me know if anything happens out there. And I really appreciate you taking the time to come on the show and share it. Kind of in your sister's memory too. Um, I'm so sorry that she passed away and uh, but I really do appreciate your time.

• 26:50Speaker 02

I appreciate you taking the time and reaching out to me and, uh, having me on. And, uh, I look forward to hearing more about the, uh, the stories that you share on your, uh, on your podcast. I actually, uh, subscribe to it on Spotify. So I do, uh, I do check it out and listen to them, uh, when they drop. So look forward to hearing this one when it comes out and spreading the word to get it, uh, to get more people in this area listening to it. And they're kind of excited to hear, hear our conversation and, uh, Everything else, man, I do appreciate you reaching out to me, getting back to me and having me on the show.

• 27:23Wes Germer?

  Thanks again, Ernest.

• 27:35Wes Germer?

Next up on the show, I want to welcome Sarah. Sarah, thanks for coming on.

• 27:40Speaker 06

  It's great to be here.

• 27:42Wes Germer?

Yeah, and you had this encounter. It's very recent. It's only been about two weeks, and it happened out there in Kansas. Before this encounter happened to you, what was kind of your feelings on Sasquatch?

• 27:55Speaker 06

I don't, I don't really believe in Bigfoot or chupacabra or any of that kind of stuff because I, I know there's a lot of people that have seen stuff like that. So I know there has to be something there, but I just, unless I see something, I'm not going to believe in it.

• 28:15Wes Germer?

Yeah, I think a lot of people might feel that way. I think that's kind of the general consensus among people. I think people have to see it, you know, to, to really believe it. If you would, take me back two weeks ago. What were you doing and what happened?

• 28:31Speaker 06

So I was driving back from Missouri and it was like seven o'clock in the morning. It was a really pretty, clear day. I was just driving. My kids are sleeping in the back. And out of nowhere, I felt something hit the back of my car and it hit it hard enough to,

• 28:50Speaker 06

so it almost made the car jump. Like it moved the car. And I immediately looked in my rearview mirror because of, obviously I was trying to figure out what that was and I didn't see anything. And then I looked in the side view mirror.

• 29:08Speaker 06

And I saw this weird. I don't even know what it was. It was a, it was like a brown and white. Creature with long flowing hair, almost like an Afghan hound. And I've never seen an Afghan hound in real life. I've only seen him in pictures, but that's the closest thing I can get to. To what it looked like. But the hair was like long and flowing and whatever it was, it was so graceful. It almost looked like it was. Like it was floating, not running. But it, as it ran across the road, it was just, it was. It was so surreal and I was like, oh, I better stop because. I gotta make sure that dog, dog is okay because I thought it was a dog. And then I.

• 29:55Speaker 06

I looked at the front and it was. It was like a human face. I'm not even, it was, it, it looked. It looked like a human was looking at me, but it was a dog or.

• 30:09Speaker 06

I mean, I don't even know, I don't know what it was, but. I asked my son, I decided I'm not stopping because I didn't know what that was and I was too scared. I was too scared to stop. But I asked my son when he woke up about an hour later. And I told him what I'd seen and he goes, oh, that's a skinwalker. And I've never in my life even. Heard of skinwalkers. So I looked it up and actually if you. If you see a picture of a skinwalker. Some of them actually looked like what I saw, but. I mean, I have, I have no idea. I have no idea what that was because it wasn't, it wasn't human. And it wasn't a dog.

• 30:53Speaker 06

I mean, it was big enough to be almost the size of a. Small horse or a pony, like bigger than a Great Dane. That's how big it was.

• 31:02Wes Germer?

When you saw this creature, was it on all fours or was it on two legs?

• 31:08Speaker 06

Oh, it was on four. It literally looked like a human face and the, and the only thing I distinctly remember about it was that its mouth was like wide open. Which I don't.

• 31:21Speaker 06

I don't know, my brain is trying to compute it and say this is a dog, but dogs don't have human faces.

• 31:27Wes Germer?

Yeah, I think anytime you see something strange, the brain tries to fill in the gap or make sense of what you, what you're actually seeing. What made you think of um it being a dog? Was it because it was on all fours and the hair?

• 31:42Speaker 06

Because when I first saw it, it looked like an African hound. It was, the hair was so long and flowing. Almost like um, you, you've seen African hounds where the the hair was like really long, almost like a, a, the mane on a horse. That's how long it was. So it was like, there was, I don't know.

• 32:05Speaker 06

It's, it's picture, I can picture it in my head perfectly. It was bigger than a Great Dane. Smaller than a horse, a pony. I mean, I've had, I've had, I could have ridden it, and that's how big it was. But the, the, another thing, I, when it crossed the road, it was, it was running across the road, there was nothing on that side of the road. There was, it was just an empty field with fences. There was no, it was, everything was clear, so I got a clear, clear view of it. And even though it was behind me, I could see like every detail. It's almost like it was, you know, like when, when somebody's in a lot of pain

• 32:50Speaker 06

and their face looks kind of twisted like they're, you know, wincing. That's, that's what it looked like. It looked like it was in, like it was in pain and it was wincing. When it looked at me, its mouth was wide open and it, I don't remember seeing any ears or hair on its head, only on the body. So the head didn't even match what was on the body. So there was no hair on its head. It's almost like I was seeing two different creatures that were like fused together. I don't know. I, I, I wouldn't even believe it if I didn't see it myself.

• 33:28Wes Germer?

Yeah, it's unnerving to see one of these things, you know, and it does do kind of a makes your brain almost like reset. You know, it's your brain is trying to tell you what you're seeing and your eyes are telling you you're seeing something very different from the way it's communicating with your brain. Um, I get it, you know, and it is, it is weird to see, you know, like kind of what you're describing. When I very first read your email, I was thinking, oh, I wonder if she ran into a dog man. And I know you're not really into the subject, but it's a different type of creature that people see. Um, I think it's more of a demonic entity, but uh, when people

• 34:08Wes Germer?

see that, they'll always say that the head was like a wolf. They'll describe it more like a werewolf. Uh, kind of what you're describing, it sounds more like a Sasquatch. I mean, even its behavior, I've heard of them doing this before from other eyewitnesses. They've reported this sort of behavior where uh, they're coming across and they'll either slap or kind of hit the back of your car as they keep on going. Do you think it hit your car? Or do you think it kind of slapped it as it was going by?

• 34:41Speaker 06

I mean, it hit hard enough for me to look in the rearview mirror. So I think it hit me. I think it was running and it hit me. But the reason I didn't stop, the reason I decided against stopping is because when I saw the face, I actually felt like that thing isn't natural. It's not. I mean, I know I said I don't believe in, in weird or creatures or whatever, but I do believe in the spirit world and that thing was not of this world. That's what I felt. It just felt evil like. I can't even describe it other than. I knew it was, I knew I shouldn't stop. That's what my brain told me. Just don't stop, just keep going.

• 35:25Speaker 06

I mean, if it was a dog, I would have stopped. If it was a deer or something, I would have stopped, but. Something told me not to stop.

• 35:32Wes Germer?

The body of this creature, wa- was it more of a body of a canine?

• 35:38Speaker 06

Yeah, which is why, I mean, I. It looked like an Afghan hound. On the whole, on the whole body, but it was as big as a greyhound. Great, or not a greyhound, a Great Dane. But it ran like a, it, I mean, it was like.

• 35:54Speaker 06

A mix of all those dogs, but. It ran on all fours, so it wasn't the, I mean, I thought Sasquatch was two-legged. You know, or did they run on all fours?

• 36:06Wes Germer?

Yeah, most of the reports from eyewitnesses when they're in a full sprint. They're generally on, on four legs. Uh, they can pop up like and walk around like we do, but. Um, there's a lot of reports, especially when they're in a full, and this thing sounded like it was in a full sprint. They're generally on four legs. You always hear hunters go. You know, I don't believe in Bigfoot, but I saw this weird bear and. Every, most of the time when they're describing it, it's on four legs, but they're describing a Sasquatch. Nothing about it sounds like a bear. Um, but to answer your question. Yeah, I mean, they're, they're on two legs as much as they're on four legs, or it's reported from eyewitnesses.

• 36:49Wes Germer?

To be the case. I don't wanna talk like I have one in my garage.

• 36:54Speaker 06

But it was brown and white. It wasn't. Dark.

• 36:58Wes Germer?

Yeah, when, when eyewitnesses report, um, seeing these creatures. They're never just dark. Um, there's many reports of them being white. Gray, uh, sometimes people say gray like a coyote. Um, I would say probably the most common color. Most eyewitnesses report is Auburn, kind of that reddish color. But, you know, they do come in a black, kind of that Auburn color, white, light gray. Um, so it's not, again, it's not just all black. Uh, you know, I wasn't there. What, what do you think it was?

• 37:37Speaker 02

Demon? No. I mean, I'm. My brain, my brain can't even compute what that was because I just, I, it's hard for me to. Try to describe something that I don't necessarily believe in, but I saw. Does that make sense?

• 37:56Wes Germer?

Yeah, makes complete sense. Um, you know, after the encounter and, and you were able to kind of stop the car and take a look at it. Was there any damage to the car?

• 38:07Speaker 02

No, there is nothing. And that's what, that's something else that. I'm like, well, it hit me hard enough for. To sway the car, but there's no damage. How is that even? How is that even possible?

• 38:20Wes Germer?

Yeah, surprisingly, this sort of encounter happens a lot. I interviewed a guy one time. He was in, um, I believe it was Missouri. And he was kind of heading down this, this country road and he's moving pretty quick. And he kind of the same situation you found yourself in, Sarah. Um, his whole car jerked like something broadsided him. Um, and he. Was shook up for a second because he didn't, he thought he ran over something, but. You know, when you're driving a car, you can see what you're running over. There was nothing in front of him. It's like the whole car just got jerked almost out of its lane. And, um, he saw something very similar to what you saw.

• 39:03Wes Germer?

It wasn't on all fours though. The one that he saw was actually up on two legs. And it was moving. But you do hear about this sort of behavior, which is weird because. For an animal that's so elusive and that no one can seem to catch up with. You hear this behavior, they'll either run right in front of a car. Or kind of do what they did to your car where it's at the very end. And people will see it in their rearview mirror and. Um, it makes me wonder sometimes if it's younger ones, if it's juveniles. Uh, cause most of the time you don't hear about King Kong coming across the road and doing this. What people are seeing is big, don't get me wrong. But it doesn't quite.

• 39:47Wes Germer?

Come across as. You know, like King Kong, like a, a full grown. Alpha male. Pulling this sort of thing. I don't think it was a skinwalker. I get kind of why you might go down that route. I think most of the time, I was gonna say, most of the time you find the skinwalker stuff in the southwest is kind of, it's Native American witchcraft is really what it is. And, you know, where the skinwalker comes from, you know, being that this was such a weird moment. Have you ever gone back to that, that spot where it happened?

• 40:22Speaker 02

I mean, I, I drive by, I've driven on that road so many times because my family lives in Missouri. And this is the first time I've ever seen anything even remotely resembling that picture. So I've never, before, before two weeks ago, I never, I've never even experienced any of this.

• 40:43Wes Germer?

You know, Sarah, you had made a comment earlier that

• 40:47Wes Germer?

this might have been something more spiritual in the sense that you felt like it was evil, like there was something wrong with this thing. What made you feel that way beyond its freakish look?

• 40:59Speaker 02

It was more the sense of evil that emanated off of it. I don't know how to describe that other than it just felt wrong. Like if you were to go into a laboratory and see and, and they were experimenting with trading human animal hybrids, that would be something that was wrong. This felt like that. Whatever that was, was just wrong. It wasn't meant to be there is what it felt like. It just felt evil. And I've, I've, I've had other encounters with, you know, where there's, where I just sensed evil, but I could, didn't see anything in those encounters. So I don't really know, other than I just felt like it was evil.

• 41:44Speaker 02

I mean, thinking, when I think about it, it's, it actually kind of scares me and I'm not really a scared kind of person. I'll walk around in the dark all the time, but whatever that was just is unnerving. So it's try not to think about it too much because I'll get scared and be like, what was that thing? I just, I mean, I, I was thinking skinwalker, but it just doesn't quite fit. So, I mean, for all I know, it could be. Sasquatch cuz I I mean, there's enough people on this planet that have seen Sasquatch that there has to be something there. They don't. They're not all just seeing something or nothing.

• 42:25Speaker 02

So I mean, it could have easily been that if I if I think about it hard enough, but I don't. I just don't know.

• 42:33Wes Germer?

Can I ask you, and not that I disagree with you, but why does your brain keep going with um Skinwalker? What was it about it? That made you think it might have been a Skinwalker?

• 42:45Speaker 02

Because when I when I was talking to my son about it and I described it, I guess his wife has run into Skinwalkers before. And when I described it to her, that's what she told me it was. So between the two of them, I just. You know, well, maybe that's what it was, but I mean, it didn't quite look like one of them because they're just too. It's not what it looked like to me. To me, it looked more like a Sasquatch than a Skinwalker. Except for the except for the face. I mean, I just I can't. The face is what gets me because it was human like it wasn't animals.

• 43:24Wes Germer?

Yeah, and I can tell you that's most people's hang up is the face. Uh, in fact, most of the time when I ask people, what do you think Sasquatch is? Probably the number one answer is somewhere between a man and an animal. Uh, because you know, the face throws people off and the roadside crossings have always confused me. I ask the same question every time, you know, if it would have waited just a few seconds and then crossed. You probably would have never seen it, but they don't. They they uh, for whatever reason, they seem to play chicken with cars. It's strange. Still baffles me.

• 44:01Speaker 02

Well, I I there was a few years back where I was talking to a self-proclaimed witch. That's what she called herself. And I was I was describing another encounter I had with her and of something completely different, but she told me that she thought I had a third eye or whatever and that like these creatures can sense that. And that's why they come to people like with. I don't know anything about the third eye. I haven't really researched it a lot. So I don't know if that's just something she made up or whatever, but I mean, maybe he maybe he just sensed that I could see him and I Other people couldn't and maybe that's why he jumped out.

• 44:45Speaker 02

Cause I don't think a lot of people, I think the spirit world or the demonic world or whatever is all around us. We just can't see it. Or the vast majority of people cannot see it. Maybe because they don't believe, maybe because they. They're not open to it. And then other people like me, I guess I'm in tune to it or whatever. So I can see things that other people can't.

• 45:07Wes Germer?

What happened that made you go to a witch?

• 45:10Speaker 02

She was, she was just somebody I worked with and I was talking to her about an encounter. But, you know, I was, I was laying in bed. And it was dark. I was trying to sleep. My husband was supposed to be home in about an hour. And I, I. I was just waiting for him and I fell asleep and then I just, I heard him come up the stairs. I heard him take his boots off. I literally felt and felt him sit on the edge of the bed.

• 45:40Speaker 02

I, I heard and saw all of that.

• 45:44Speaker 02

And then I sat up and I talked to him, where I tried to talk to him, but he wasn't there. He hadn't even come in the house. He wasn't even home. He was still at work. So I was trying to talk to her about that because. I don't believe in ghosts either. But what was that? I mean. And I was trying to talk to her about that encounter and she was like, oh, well, you know, and that's what she told me. But there was a couple other, those were my, um. Where the first encounter I had with the evil, that's that feeling of evil that just overwhelmed the whole house. And I can't describe that either. It just, the whole.

• 46:24Speaker 02

That whole house just felt evil and I ended up taking it, taking it apart and, cause it was a fifth wheel trailer. I ended up just, because I just felt evil, I just took it apart so it wouldn't mess with anybody else because the. Ghosts that I don't believe in, I felt like they haunted it. I mean, I don't know what I felt there either. To me, I just, people tell me, well, maybe you were dreaming. Maybe you were asleep, but I was wide awake. I was wide awake. I don't, I I've never really believed in ghosts, but when I had that fifth wheel trailer. There was something in that trailer. Where you could feel something that hated you that was there.

• 47:09Speaker 02

That's what I felt the whole time I was living in that trailer. I just felt like something wanted me out.

• 47:15Wes Germer?

Was there anything else that happened in that trailer?

• 47:18Speaker 02

Uh. That was where I actually had the first encounter with with that kind of thing that I've ever had before. And um.

• 47:30Speaker 02

That particular time was like four months before the ghost encounter.

• 47:35Speaker 02

But I was just laying in bed. Sleeping. And I just, out of nowhere, I just woke up and I looked at the clock. And it was twelve oh three and I tried to move and I couldn't move. Cause something was just pressing down on me like it was. Is suffocating me to the point where I couldn't even breathe at all. And I tried to, I tried to move my foot to kick my husband to get him to help me. But I couldn't even, I couldn't even move my, I couldn't move at all. I was completely paralyzed and people have told me, well, that's sleep paralysis, but. I just, I don't buy that because while I was, while I was in that state. I just felt that evil that was in that house.

• 48:17Speaker 02

Permeating everything. Literally, I felt like that evil was trying to kill me. I literally felt like it was trying to kill me. Because I was, I was suffocating. I couldn't move. At all. I literally thought I was gonna die. And I. Think that was my first experience or second, first two experiences were in that house. With all that evil and before then I never even believed in any of. I didn't believe in the spirit world much either. This has stuck with me for the last. I mean, I'm forty eight now and that happened when I was twenty four. So it's stuck with me for twenty four years. It still brings terror if I think about it and I try not to think about it because.

• 49:03Speaker 02

Of those three experiences, those are the only three evil experiences I had. That terrified me. So, I mean, even right now, thinking about it, I'm like, oh, I'm so glad I tore that house down because it was so, the evil was just permeating it.

• 49:21Wes Germer?

Yeah, I was wondering if you had found something when you were kind of tearing the place apart. Makes you wonder what was going on there before you moved in, but you ended up just kind of tearing apart the, uh, the fifth wheel?

• 49:36Speaker 02

Yeah, it was my, my, um, my daughter passed away in that house. She was eight months old and it, she passed away like six months after that experience and I just felt like that evil was what killed her and I don't know if it, I don't, I don't have any idea if, because she, they, they have no, they cannot tell me what, why she died. There was just no reason for her to die. So I don't know if that house had something to do with it or whatever, but I just, I wasn't gonna let that evil get anywhere else or hurt anybody else. And I know that sounds so ridiculous because a lot of people, they don't believe

• 50:18Speaker 02

me when I tried telling them that there's evil or that there's demonic activity because they just don't want to believe, but I know what I felt in that house and I don't believe myself in a lot of stuff, but there was something in that house that wanted to kill me. And I just, I wasn't gonna let it do it, that to anybody else. So I just tore the whole thing down to the frame and scrapped it all.

• 50:45Wes Germer?

Yeah, I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter. I never have the right words in situations like these, especially this one. I can't even imagine, you know, the pain. No parent really should go through that pain of, uh, losing a child and you're very strong for, you know, ki- kind of coming through the other side of that. I don't think that whatever was in that trailer, I don't think it had anything to do with your daughter. Um, and that's a whole nother conversation, but. I get where you're coming from. You know, you and I are very much like kindred spirits. I would have burned the trailer down and stood back and watched it burn. You know, if I was going through what you went through.

• 51:30Wes Germer?

And I really appreciate you sharing it, especially that that last part there. Uh, with what was going on in that trailer and kind of makes me understand more of why you would think it was evil. The spirit world is very, very real. You know, and I don't know if it's the penal gland or that third eye that witch was talking about. Uh, but it's very real. And, uh, people's lives are affected by it. And I really appreciate you sharing that because a lot of times people go through that. It's like, well, what do you say? You know, it's you're having things happen, but a lot of times you can't see what is actually affecting you or coming in, sitting on the bed and just kind of screwing with you.

• 52:13Wes Germer?

And a lot of times people are, don't really share that side of things that of these things that go on in their lives.

• 52:21Speaker 02

I mean, I think a lot of reason a lot of people don't want to share is because they, they

• 52:27Speaker 02

people don't want to believe, so they just make them feel like they're imagining things or, oh, that didn't really happen, you know? So we don't want to share, but it's so real and it, it happened to those people. So, you know, it's nice to have somebody to talk to, to at least say, hey, this happened to me.

• 52:48Wes Germer?

Yeah. Well, thank you for sharing it. I, I hope it helps someone out there who is, is dealing with it or has dealt with something like this in the past. Cause it does go on, I think more than most people think. Um, and I, I really appreciate you sharing the encounter, Sarah. I know it's kind of a, a mind bending moment when you see something like what you saw. I, I think it was a Sasquatch, but again, I wasn't there. It's, it's strange. Either way, Sasquatch is weird. Um, and some of the things that happened to you in your life with regard to the paranormal in that trailer. Again, I, I really do appreciate it and I really enjoyed chatting with you, Sarah. Thank you so much for coming on.

• 53:33Wes Germer?
