• 0:53Speaker 03

Ooh, that creature in the ginger beard! Sturdy, ginger. Like vampires, the ginger gene is a curse. Ginger's a beauty. You owe me $5 for the whiskey, and $75 for the horse. Ginger's, oh hell no. This whiskey is excellent. Ginger, I like gingers.

• 1:11Andrew Santino?

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Whiskey Ginger. My guest today is one of my favorite people on earth. I say that from my guest, but I'm gonna meet him once again today. It's Andy Milonakis!

• 1:18Speaker 04

  What's up, baby?

• 1:19Andrew Santino?

  Meow, meow, meow, meow.

• 1:20Speaker 04

  Uh, uh, uh, uh!

• 1:21Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, that one's good.

• 1:22Speaker 04

  Meow, meow, meow, meow.

• 1:23Andrew Santino?

Cheers, just a little sip, we're having a little sip. You're nursing an injury. Tell the people what happened.

• 1:29Speaker 04

  So...

• 1:30Andrew Santino?

  Cheers.

• 1:30Speaker 04

This building is kinda weird, there's like no entrance in the front. And so, the Uber like dropped me off next to a bunch of shrubs, and I already have a fucked up leg with like a titanium implant in it. So I like get out, and I like stumble over one of the shrubs. And it was like, it was like some Three Stooges shit. I don't know how I recovered and didn't fall on my ass, but it was very close.

• 1:53Andrew Santino?

  You're alive!

• 1:55Speaker 04

  Now I'm even more alive.

• 1:56Andrew Santino?

Yeah, you're alive dude, you're living. You're living kitten.

• 1:59Speaker 04

Aw damn, you'd probably be a fun guy to drink with.

• 2:01Andrew Santino?

  Hell yeah.

• 2:02Speaker 04

I mean, we're drinking now, but this is a little bit different.

• 2:04Andrew Santino?

I'd be more fun to go out out with, yeah, go out with. But I like to, I don't like to go to like busy bars, nightclubs, I don't like any of that crap. I like, I like a dingy, seedy, quiet little spot. And then just get hammered. Start when the sun is about to go down and then disappear into the night.

• 2:21Speaker 04

  I like that.

• 2:21Andrew Santino?

  Isn't that your favorite?

• 2:23Speaker 04

I like that, but I also like bougie hotels.

• 2:26Andrew Santino?

Oh, you're fancy. I know, you're fancy, yeah.

• 2:27Speaker 04

But like bougie hotels are chill too because

• 2:33Speaker 04

it's like, nobody else matters. You're not in some loud place where people are annoying. You're just with your group.

• 2:39Andrew Santino?

  Right, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 2:40Speaker 04

It's in a comfortable setting with good drinks, you know?

• 2:42Andrew Santino?

What's your favorite hotel? Don't say Kimpton.

• 2:45Speaker 04

My favorite hotel when I lived in LA was Chateau Marmont.

• 2:48Andrew Santino?

Oh, yo, that's a big, that's a nice hotel dude. Would you just get rooms or just go to the, the restaurant?

• 2:54Speaker 04

Most of the time I wouldn't get rooms. Sometimes I would. But, I have a funny story about Blantons, because that's what we're drinking.

• 3:02Andrew Santino?

Drinking some Blantons today. Blantons is one of my ultimate favorites. Go ahead, give it to me.

• 3:05Speaker 04

  You're gonna hate me now.

• 3:06Andrew Santino?

  Oh, boy.

• 3:08Speaker 04

For a while, Chateau Marmont didn't have a good brown list. They just had.

• 3:13Andrew Santino?

  Tequila, vodka.

• 3:15Speaker 04

Yeah, they just, I don't know why, it's such a fancy hotel, they just didn't have a good brown list. And I was hip to this fucking bourbon that, at the time was a hundred dollars a bottle. You buy it at like Bristol Farms, you buy it anywhere.

• 3:28Andrew Santino?

  Sure.

• 3:28Speaker 04

Hundred bucks. Still kind of expensive for a bottle, right?

• 3:31Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 3:34Speaker 04

And I just, I loved it so much and I wanted to drink it and Chateau was my favorite place. We'd smoke weed in there, we'd people watch, we'd see a bunch of actors. It was just like a fun time. So I would order Blantons there. And I would empty it in the fucking plants and then I'd pour my Pappy Van Winkle twenty in the glass.

• 3:53Andrew Santino?

  You'd empty Blantons?

• 3:54Speaker 04

Yeah, I'd empty it because I didn't want to be cheap. I didn't want to like sneak drinks in and be like, oh, I'm drinking for free. So I'd pay for glasses of Blantons. I'd throw this shit on the fucking bushes and then I'd pour my Pappy Van Winkle twenty.

• 4:08Andrew Santino?

What's wrong with you, dude? You're sick, sick.

• 4:11Speaker 04

That's how I fucking roll, cuh.

• 4:13Andrew Santino?

That's how you roll, cuh. Well, this is Rip Van Winkle. Have you ever had Rip?

• 4:16Speaker 04

Yeah, so this is the same brand, but this is ten years old.

• 4:19Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 4:20Speaker 04

And then the really, when it gets really dank is twenty. The twenty is the best.

• 4:25Andrew Santino?

Anything over fifteen is pretty, it's kind of like, uh, you know, when you're driving on the highway?

• 4:30Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 4:31Andrew Santino?

And you're going ninety or a hundred and twenty?

• 4:34Speaker 04

  Mm-hmm.

• 4:35Andrew Santino?

  It's kind of the same.

• 4:36Speaker 04

I disagree with this specific brand.

• 4:39Andrew Santino?

  I can't tell the difference.

• 4:40Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah, but you, have you had Pappy Van Winkle twenty, though?

• 4:44Andrew Santino?

Who are you talking to? The show is called Whiskey Ginger. I've had a thousand of it. Oh, yeah, dude, I've drank it. I've drank it.

• 4:49Speaker 04

  I mean, there's a big difference, though.

• 4:51Andrew Santino?

  It's, I don't, I don't know. It's, it's, it's, it's similar in smoothness. It's a little bit.

• 4:58Speaker 04

Similar in smoothness. This show needs to be canceled.

• 5:01Andrew Santino?

  Cancel it. Cancel it.

• 5:03Speaker 04

  That's, that's not true.

• 5:04Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, it is.

• 5:06Speaker 04

  No.

• 5:06Andrew Santino?

  Are you a big drinker?

• 5:08Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 5:08Andrew Santino?

I've had a thousand of these things. They're gr- I, I think they're, I think they're as close as you can get to feeling the same. Without, I think the pretentiousness as you grow with like, oh, and it's older and it's more age and it's like, yeah.

• 5:21Speaker 04

The pretentiousness is there on wine, I think.

• 5:24Andrew Santino?

Wine is way worse. But bourbon, bourbon heads are even way worse. By the way, Pappy and all that stuff, those guys, you go down to Kentucky? They used to drink that stuff like it was Jack. Like they, it would be thrown around and they're like, yeah, it's fine.

• 5:36Speaker 04

Well, the demand, the demand wasn't crazy then.

• 5:39Andrew Santino?

I know, that's what I'm saying. The demand, I think socially is what turned up people to go, this is the best. It's good.

• 5:44Speaker 04

But you can't say that about me. I was buying it when it was a hundred dollars a bottle. Now it's like.

• 5:49Andrew Santino?

You were high, blacked out at Chateau.

• 5:50Speaker 04

No, no, no. I wasn't blacked out.

• 5:53Andrew Santino?

  No?

• 5:53Speaker 04

  No. Listen.

• 5:56Speaker 04

I don't know, man. You gotta line up ten, you gotta bring up ten whiskey drinkers and pour them a glass of fucking ten versus twenty. Every single one will tell a difference.

• 6:05Andrew Santino?

You can tell a difference, but I don't think it's so dramatic where it's like, this is so much better.

• 6:09Speaker 04

Even, I think, what is it, the fifteen? There's a fifteen and a twenty and then twenty-three? I like the twenty better than the twenty-three. But, um, I think there's a crazy difference between that and the twenty.

• 6:20Andrew Santino?

Palette, palette, palette preference is what I like to call it.

• 6:23Speaker 04

  You're a bumbaclo.

• 6:24Andrew Santino?

Palette, palette preference, bumbaclo. Have you ever had Old Fitz? You had Old Fitz?

• 6:28Speaker 04

  No.

• 6:29Andrew Santino?

Old Fitz is pretty good. See, I could turn you on to some fun stuff. Have you had Stag? Have you had Geordie Stag?

• 6:33Speaker 04

  Hmm, maybe.

• 6:34Andrew Santino?

Dude, you're dumping Blantons into the bushes. I can't trust this guy. That's great. And by the way, this isn't, Blantons I don't hold in the highest of regard. I just think it's a very solid go-to for me. That I, it's just like a good, solid sipping whiskey that I like neat usually, but I'm on ice because I figured you're a nice guy.

• 6:52Speaker 04

Um, it depends. I mean, if I, if I'm not on an empty stomach and I'm drinking at night and I'm drinking like high-quality shit, I will not put ice in anything.

• 7:00Andrew Santino?

  Sure.

• 7:01Speaker 04

  Like Johnny Walker Black Ice.

• 7:04Andrew Santino?

  Johnny Walker?

• 7:05Speaker 04

I'm just saying, like, that's like low fucking shit, right?

• 7:08Andrew Santino?

  But Johnny Walker Scotch.

• 7:10Speaker 04

Yeah, I know, but any brown. I'm talking about any brown.

• 7:13Andrew Santino?

So you don't discern? You'll take it all?

• 7:14Speaker 04

Well, I mean, I really like cognac a lot. I feel like cognac is nice because...

• 7:19Andrew Santino?

  That's the hood in you.

• 7:20Speaker 04

Well, no, no, no. There's some high-end cognacs out there. I'm not talking about the low.

• 7:25Andrew Santino?

  Like Louis? You drinking Louis?

• 7:27Speaker 04

I think Louis is way overpriced.

• 7:29Andrew Santino?

Well, it's overrated. This is my point. At some point, it's the, it's the culture that did it. It's not the thing. It's like, uh...

• 7:35Speaker 04

That's the thing, like Pappy Van Winkle twenty, I don't think it's worth four K a bottle, but is it worth a hundred a bottle every day of the week?

• 7:42Andrew Santino?

Of course, of course, but that, but they've juiced it up so much now, everyone's overpaying.

• 7:46Speaker 04

And then when it was in the mud, you know what I'm saying?

• 7:48Andrew Santino?

In the mud, you in the, in the streets. Well, now you're in the streets. You're living in Austin, Texas. Why?

• 7:54Speaker 04

Okay, it, I, I just, it's a boring story, but I wanna make, I wanna give you the Cliff Notes.

• 7:59Andrew Santino?

  Give it to me.

• 8:00Speaker 04

So I had a, I had a loft in downtown LA and I wanted, I wanted a loft, I, I don't like downtown LA, but I wanted it because I wanted a green screen and shit to fucking do shit.

• 8:09Andrew Santino?

  Do shit, yeah.

• 8:11Speaker 04

Um, so I went to Venice to see some people with a couple of my friends. We flew there. We're gonna be there for a couple of weeks. Covid happened. Nobody was flying. Everybody was afraid. No one, no one knew what was going on. So we were Airbnb hopping month to month and then I just told my friend, I'm like, let's just get a year lease. It's cheap as fuck. Let's just do it, you know, we don't have to move around. So I got a year lease, um, and then, um, after, after that year. Uh, I was like, let me see, I haven't seen my parents in a while. I haven't seen my family. So let, let's go back to New York. Okay. So then I lived in New York for a while. I lived in Queens in Astoria, um, and then I was just like.

• 8:54Speaker 04

I was just stumbling over all my fucking shit. I just have no room living in fucking a Manhattan or, or a Queens apartment. So I was like, all right, well, I just moved from Ven- from Austin. Let me just move back because I could get a big house. No income taxes, you know, prices cheap. And then I came out here and like. Day one, I'm like, what am I doing in Austin? I gotta move back, you know, so I gotta get the fuck back here like instantly. Just like posting a couple of Instagrams and like the opportunities that come up and people hitting me up to do stuff like. Just I could be way more creative out here, you know, I could be seeing more people, doing more shit. And not be like a little hermit, you know, I travel a lot. So when I'm in Austin, I'm just kinda like, oh, I'm in hermit mode, but I don't wanna be in hermit mode.

• 9:36Andrew Santino?

You don't wanna stay at the house all day?

• 9:38Speaker 04

I don't wanna do that in the.

• 9:39Andrew Santino?

Nah, you wanna be out and about. But so you're downtown LA?

• 9:42Speaker 04

I was, I mean, I lived in LA for seventeen years, so I lived everywhere in LA. You know, Miracle Mile, West Hollywood, Hollywood Hills, like fucking.

• 9:50Andrew Santino?

  Never the valley though.

• 9:52Speaker 04

  Never the valley.

• 9:53Andrew Santino?

You poo poo the valley. Yeah, you're one of those guys.

• 9:55Speaker 04

No, I don't poo poo it, but just that's just where I just happened to be, you know, I lived in Venice Beach for a while. Um, and then like, uh, La Cienega, like kinda like. In the middle of like West Hollywood to Beverly Hills, just everywhere pretty much.

• 10:09Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 10:09Speaker 04

  Um, Koreatown.

• 10:11Andrew Santino?

Where are you gonna come back to?

• 10:13Speaker 04

I'm thinking either. I mean, I like, I like Venice cuz it just feels like I'm living in a vacation, but it's too far from everything.

• 10:21Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, it's deep.

• 10:22Speaker 04

And my boy just uh moved to Silver Lake, so I'm thinking like maybe that area like west side.

• 10:27Andrew Santino?

  East side.

• 10:27Speaker 04

  I mean, east side.

• 10:28Andrew Santino?

Yeah. East side, but a good, everyone, you know, the young kids live in the east side, he's. He's twenty five years old, twenty six years old now.

• 10:35Speaker 04

Yeah, I don't really know exactly where like right now. And I I bought an open ended ticket and I wanna stay for a month. So even now, I don't know where to stay for a month, like stay in Venice Beach, I could just kinda. Be outside in the sun, easy walkable or like. Being like uh.

• 10:52Andrew Santino?

So you're on the move, what do you, what, what you don't. You don't, you don't need to call any place home, but. Do you ever feel like you're too, that's too mu- you don't wanna like? Have some roots somewhere or you don't really care?

• 11:02Speaker 04

I mean, I always have roots somewhere, no matter, even if I like travel for like three months at a time, I always have a home base somewhere, whether it's New York. Like Austin.

• 11:10Andrew Santino?

You put all your shit somewhere.

• 11:12Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 11:12Andrew Santino?

  But not in Austin anymore.

• 11:14Speaker 04

  Nah, I mean.

• 11:15Andrew Santino?

Can't do Terry Blacks every day, dude.

• 11:17Speaker 04

  Damn, Terry Blacks?

• 11:18Andrew Santino?

  Terry Blacks!

• 11:19Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 11:19Andrew Santino?

Get me some Terry Blacks, they give me some Bernans. This, this, this all, they, they love bragging about the barbecue down there, you're like, it's bar, it's fine.

• 11:26Speaker 04

No, no, barbecue in Austin is not great.

• 11:28Andrew Santino?

  It's fine.

• 11:29Speaker 04

  It's not great.

• 11:30Andrew Santino?

  It's as fine as.

• 11:30Speaker 04

  Ten- Tennessee?

• 11:33Andrew Santino?

Tennessee Bueno. Tennessee good. You know who's got great barbecue, Kansas City dude.

• 11:37Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 11:38Andrew Santino?

  Kansas City's got great barbecue.

• 11:39Speaker 04

Everybody that I respect in the food world says Casey is the best.

• 11:43Andrew Santino?

You must know cuz you got the Bourdain tattoo, you must be like a food nut.

• 11:47Speaker 04

  I am.

• 11:48Andrew Santino?

  You're a food, you're a foodie.

• 11:49Speaker 04

I, he inspired me so much to travel a lot and like everywhere I went that he went like. I mean, I saw his like first episode and then like maybe like. Eight years later, I went to it and the place was still open.

• 12:01Andrew Santino?

  Oh, really?

• 12:02Speaker 04

And just like tweeting him in spots that he, that he's been to, being like, yo, man, I found your spot. And he'd respond to me, you know.

• 12:09Andrew Santino?

  Did you ever meet him?

• 12:10Speaker 04

And I, out of anyone on planet earth that I wanted to meet, it was him. And I had, us, like it was a snow day, the, my plane got cancelled to, from New York to LA. And then, ten thousand feet in the air, I get a message from Bourdain saying, "Are you gonna say hello, or what?" And at first, I didn't know what that meant, like, what, did I not tweet him, like, recently? And then I'm like, "Oh shit!", and I looked to my right, and he's sitting right there.

• 12:36Andrew Santino?

He was on the same flight, you had no idea?

• 12:39Speaker 04

And then, uh, and then like, uh,

• 12:41Andrew Santino?

Were you on one on the plane or something? Were you, were you hammered? You didn't see him right next to you?

• 12:46Speaker 04

No, no, he was like, one seat back and to the right.

• 12:49Andrew Santino?

Oh, okay, okay. I thought he was right there, I was like, "Bro",

• 12:51Speaker 04

No, no, like, he was touching my leg.

• 12:53Andrew Santino?

  "Are you gonna say hi?"

• 12:55Speaker 04

  So, um,

• 12:55Andrew Santino?

  "Are you gonna say hi?"

• 12:57Speaker 04

  So,

• 12:58Andrew Santino?

Oh, pop this mic up to your mouth, by the way, it's falling a little bit.

• 13:01Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 13:01Andrew Santino?

Conny, you wanna jam it? Hold on, let him jam it.

• 13:03Speaker 04

  Jam it in my ass.

• 13:04Andrew Santino?

Jam it right in his fucking ass, dude. That's where he likes microphones.

• 13:07Speaker 04

So, he was with, he was with his wife and kids at the time.

• 13:11Andrew Santino?

Hold up. There you go. Make sure that arm is up. Yeah, there we go. Okay.

• 13:16Speaker 04

Alright. Yeah, so he was with his wife and kids at the time, so I didn't wanna be that guy who's like, "Hey, I'm on a flight with you, so, uh, wow, where, where you going, what are you doing?", you know, like that annoying fucking type, you know? Um, So I was like, "I'm not gonna bother you, but can we just take a, like a pic when we get off the plane?", and he goes, "Yeah, yeah, sure." And then we were tweeting back and forth like funny shit, I was like, I was like, "Yo, put in a good word with the flight attendant, I'm trying to join the Mile High Club", And she, and she, he responded, "I don't think I could do you any favors, she's been giving me dirty looks ever since I turned down the in-flight meal."

• 13:53Speaker 04

But yeah, that was like, my dream to meet him, and it was cool to, to get to meet him.

• 13:56Andrew Santino?

He was the king, dude. You don't, do you ever eat these in-flight meals? You don't do that?

• 14:00Speaker 04

Uh, i- if it's international, and I'm like, on a twelve-hour flight, I kinda have to.

• 14:05Andrew Santino?

  Different story.

• 14:06Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah, if I'm going on a four-hour flight, I skip it, cuz I'm like, anywhere I'm landing, there's gonna be some cool thing that I could eat.

• 14:14Andrew Santino?

  Sure.

• 14:15Speaker 04

That will be better to wait for, you know?

• 14:17Andrew Santino?

I, I will, I will take, I will take the hot nuts, though. Pause.

• 14:22Speaker 04

  Un-pause.

• 14:23Andrew Santino?

Un-pause, give me them nuts! Hey, give me them nuts!

• 14:26Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 14:26Andrew Santino?

I can't eat on airplanes, it gives me the...

• 14:29Speaker 04

Yeah, it makes me feel gross, too.

• 14:31Andrew Santino?

Well, the idea of it is always freaky to me, because I'm like, where did that food, where was the food?

• 14:34Speaker 04

Yeah, I mean, sometimes I'll go to a little magazine shop and get some like trail mix or something, because I know I'm not gonna eat that slop, you know?

• 14:40Andrew Santino?

What's the go-to in the, in the magazine shop? Trail mix, any, any candy?

• 14:44Speaker 04

I mean, okay, last time, I don't get this that often, because it is kinda sludgy, but like, pizzeria flavored combos.

• 14:51Andrew Santino?

You kidding me? Those are so good.

• 14:52Speaker 04

  They're so good.

• 14:53Andrew Santino?

Combos have never gone out of style. It's unbelievable. Were other, were other kind of snacks in that world from when we were, how old are you?

• 15:00Speaker 04

  I'm, I'm, uh, I turned 21 yesterday.

• 15:03Andrew Santino?

  Good boy.

• 15:05Andrew Santino?

Such a lady in Hollywood. No, but I'm 40, 43 this year, and like, all the snacks of my youth like that, when they started, like, getting big. Combos might be the only one that I still can go back to and be like, oh, this is, I do like this. Like, Pringles got too Pringley, they tried too many, too much stuff.

• 15:22Speaker 04

Well, your, your taste buds kinda advanced, too. Like, you want real potato chips now, you don't want like, fucking...

• 15:27Andrew Santino?

Depends, though. Some days I want some nasty nasties. I ate a bag of those chili cheese Fritos when we shot, and those are still my favorite. Fritos, chili cheese Fritos.

• 15:35Speaker 04

Pizzeria combos, like, that was one of my old school snacks, too. I used to go to this arcade called the Electric Playhouse, and I would play the same game every day. It's called Renegade, it was kinda like a Final Fight type game, double dragon. I'd just go to the little, like, vending machine, get pizzeria combos, put it on top of the arcade, and just like, sit there and play.

• 15:58Andrew Santino?

  Play it all day long.

• 15:59Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 15:59Andrew Santino?

  That's the best, dude.

• 16:01Speaker 04

  That's the best.

• 16:02Andrew Santino?

I love going into those magazine stores, though. I do love going in there to see them what they got.

• 16:05Speaker 04

And the best thing is like, riding your bike to that place. Like, you know, being like 15, having a bike, getting home from school, and just riding your bike to an arcade by yourself and just...

• 16:15Andrew Santino?

Quarters, baby, quarters, baby, quarters. We used to save, save quarters, put them in a sock, ride our bikes. There was like an ice skating arena, uh, near my house, like, uh... Into our ice skating arena and they had the by far the best arcade. It had no less than thirty different new games all the time. I don't know who was or I don't know whose son that owned it was like, we gotta get arcade in here. But it became the place to go versus an arcade because they always had new shit and ice, you know, ice arenas are making good money because ice time is expensive. So all these kids would come in there with mom and dad money and they would go and they'd get the, you know, they'd be getting dollars in there. We would save quarters, steal quarters. Find them anywhere and play as, as long as we could and then on a mission to go get quarters again. It was like Sandlot where they're saving up to buy a baseball. It was like the same thing.

• 16:59Andrew Santino?

How many quarters could we get to play Mortal Kombat until, you know, we were due home?

• 17:05Speaker 04

Um, like nostalgia is a drug to me. I've been buying like some really old school shit like I bought this, um, this game that I used to play at the Holiday Inn, um, near my apartment. And, um, it's a, it's like a pinball. It's like a little pinball machine and then there's an arcade machine over it. And so like when you get to a certain part in the pinball game, the screen turns on and it turns into like Pac-Man.

• 17:29Andrew Santino?

Oh, so and then you gotta beat that to get, to get an extra ball and stuff?

• 17:32Speaker 04

Yeah, it's like a combo and they, they only made like two of them like it. So I was like, I gotta buy this shit from my house. I've been trying to buy this shit.

• 17:39Andrew Santino?

  Oh, you can't find it?

• 17:40Speaker 04

Well, I, I finally found it and I bought it.

• 17:43Andrew Santino?

  You did?

• 17:44Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 17:44Andrew Santino?

  You got it?

• 17:45Speaker 04

  Yeah, it's called Baby Pac-Man.

• 17:46Andrew Santino?

Was it expen- how much, what are these things go now?

• 17:48Speaker 04

  It was like six K.

• 17:50Andrew Santino?

That's a, that's a good clip. This is like, this is like the, this is like the storyline of the movie Big on the hunt for the, on the hunt for the Zoltar machine. I remember seeing the Zoltar in real life after that movie had come out.

• 18:01Speaker 04

They shot that in Playland in New York, right? Right, Playland?

• 18:04Andrew Santino?

Is that where you grew up?

• 18:05Speaker 04

Uh, I grew up kinda close to there.

• 18:07Andrew Santino?

Pretty close. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I, I, I always loved do, nostalgia to me. I still get involved in it in my life. Like I still do nostalgic things, but to me like going back to places is physically visiting is where I get the most nostalgic. Like going back to my childhood, like the building that I lived in as a kid with my mom, it does, it does something weird to you, man. It's crazy.

• 18:29Speaker 04

Bro, same thing. When I'm driving around with my mom, I'm like, I tell her to stop at like my old. Apartment buildings that we lived in.

• 18:36Andrew Santino?

I like, I don't know why I do this, dude, I do it, I love it.

• 18:38Speaker 04

Just like sitting there and like all the memories just ru- oh yeah, just rushing to my fucking head.

• 18:43Andrew Santino?

  That's it?

• 18:44Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 18:44Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 18:44Speaker 04

See, like it's, it's the, the length of the pinball field is like half of what it's normally.

• 18:50Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, that, yeah, so.

• 18:51Speaker 04

And then the top, this is the video game, it's fucking sick.

• 18:53Andrew Santino?

Yeah, for some reason, I don't know why I do that. My wife says all the time, she's like, man, you got the nostalgia bug you have, like. If I find myself near Culver City ever, like if I'm going to a meeting or going to do something, I'll swing by my first apartment. Down there, I used to live off of National under the, like by, by the freeway.

• 19:07Speaker 04

I mean, I know why you do it because life can be very mundane and nostalgia is like magical.

• 19:12Andrew Santino?

It's, well, it's also, it's cool to see where you started. There's something cool about going back to the beginning and being like, well, look at that, how. Like I remember I lived in a, I lived in a three bed, one bath. It was actually two bed, but I lived in a kitchen, I lived in a dining room. That was partitioned off.

• 19:28Speaker 04

  Mm-hmm.

• 19:28Andrew Santino?

With two other UCLA grad students and, I don't know, it was terrible, but it was incredible.

• 19:33Speaker 04

Yeah, I, I, I never regret my childhood either, cause like, you know, I, I feel like, you know, number one, I think it builds character. But also living in like ghetto ass places, like low income housing, like the shit that I've seen and done there. When you can't get in trouble, when you're too young to get in trouble, it felt like that chapter of my life was like a movie.

• 19:57Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 19:57Speaker 04

  You know?

• 19:58Andrew Santino?

Did you ever write it down?

• 19:59Speaker 04

  I mean, I would.

• 20:01Andrew Santino?

  You should.

• 20:02Speaker 04

I mean, I think the only thing I could picture it being as like a movie is like some Harmony Korean type shit.

• 20:07Andrew Santino?

  Okay.

• 20:08Speaker 04

I mean, a little less fucked up, but like, a little less fucked up, but that's style of like rawness, just like of like crazy characters and shit.

• 20:16Andrew Santino?

  Like kids.

• 20:17Speaker 04

Yeah, like, you know, al- also it was during like the whole crack epidemic, so that was like the biggest layer of all of it.

• 20:24Andrew Santino?

You never smoked any crack though?

• 20:25Speaker 04

  I never did, no.

• 20:26Andrew Santino?

  God bless, good for you.

• 20:27Speaker 04

My friend, my friend cooked it in his apartment though, and um, the, the dealer that used his apartment would like spoil us. And like, you know, as kids, I mean, you don't have money, getting all the like Nintendo games and getting like, you know, taking us out to Chinese places. Driving us to fucking Brooklyn, buying us weed, getting us alcohol, like, all that shit was just like, you know.

• 20:49Andrew Santino?

  It's a fantasy, yeah.

• 20:51Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah.

• 20:51Andrew Santino?

  Cooking crack in the kitchen.

• 20:53Speaker 04

  Cooking crack, you know?

• 20:54Andrew Santino?

  Hell yeah.

• 20:54Speaker 04

I got a, I got a rap line, it's like, uh, reverse racism, I'd be whipping that white.

• 21:00Andrew Santino?

  I'd be whipping that white.

• 21:03Andrew Santino?

  That's a great line.

• 21:04Speaker 04

  Thanks.

• 21:04Andrew Santino?

Are you making music right now?

• 21:06Speaker 04

Um, well, I just, yeah, I mean, I haven't been making recently, but while I'm out here, I'm definitely gonna be making some music. Like, I have a few producer friends, like, I know where to go, like, to get beats, to record, all that shit. So, like, I'm gonna get at least a few things done while I'm out here.

• 21:21Andrew Santino?

I feel like LA, if, if anything doesn't die in LA, it would be the music scene. I feel like musicians still will hold this place with high enough regard, or people will still come here to make music.

• 21:32Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 21:33Andrew Santino?

Like, if all the other industry dies, and it is, it's gone. But I think music will still kinda live in the roots of this. Like, you think about Laurel Canyon and the, you know what I mean? Like, in the history of this city with music and artists kind of calling this home.

• 21:45Speaker 04

I used to live on Wonderland.

• 21:45Andrew Santino?

  Oh, you did?

• 21:46Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 21:47Andrew Santino?

I mean, like, I think historically, people kind of know, but people don't really know. Like, I had, I had, I had a great story told to me one time, Toots and the Maytals. You like Toots? Do you know who that is?

• 21:57Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 21:58Andrew Santino?

  I got to meet Toots.

• 21:59Speaker 04

I got Bujubanta on my shirt.

• 22:00Andrew Santino?

Bujubanta? I got to meet Toots, um, my, one of my day jobs was working in the music industry, doing visas for bands when I first moved out here. And my boss had worked with Toots for years, and I got to go to a show and chat with them after, which was kinda surreal. And they told a story about, um, the time that, uh, you know, uh, Bob Marley and a bunch of guys were like, were like, staying in the canyon, I guess, and they were like, hanging out, getting high, and they thought, "Oh, yeah, you know, like, we have our weed." You know what I mean? Like, "We don't need to smoke your shit California weed." This is also a long time ago.

• 22:35Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 22:36Andrew Santino?

And they were kinda like, you know, talking shit, being like, "We don't need this, whatever trash you guys are smoking." And then a couple of Bob's crew members were like, "All right, well, I'll try some of this California nonsense." And he was like, they got so fucking cooked that they were super late for the show, 'cause they were way too, 'cause they, 'cause they were smoking...

• 22:53Speaker 04

Yeah, back then, the Jamaica weed was like the, you know, where you get like a nickel bag of like shake.

• 22:59Andrew Santino?

  It's shit.

• 22:59Speaker 04

  And like seeds, yeah.

• 23:00Andrew Santino?

Shit, yeah, you're barely getting high. You can smoke it all day, all night. But I think when their first introduction to like California weed, they were like, mind bent up in the canyon, and Toots was saying how they were like, late, they, they couldn't leave the house. Like, they were too cooked. Like, they just couldn't do it.

• 23:15Speaker 04

  California weed, and it's incredible.

• 23:22Speaker 04

  Top.

• 23:25Speaker 02

  In here, we pour whiskey.

• 23:28Andrew Santino?

• 24:36Speaker 03

  Ginger. I like zingers.

• 24:39Andrew Santino?

Dude, I've, I've, we've, we've never really like kicked it, or this, it's crazy because I've seen you from afar and I've been a fan for a long time, and it's kinda wild to like, all, all the years of your, you've been so public, like you, your life has been so public for so long. Deliberately, you've done this on purpose.

• 24:55Speaker 04

Well, yeah, because like in the middle of like, you know, like shit happening, like being on every social, like since I got my start on the internet, any site that came out, like Vine, I'm like, okay, I'm on it, you know, fucking TikTok.

• 25:06Andrew Santino?

You were way before all that shit.

• 25:08Speaker 04

No, I understand, but like, the way to survive is like when you see this new shit coming out in the internet. Since... My whole, pretty much existence in LA happened from internet shit. I had to like, kind of evolve with the internet. So all the new shit that came out. You know, I did shit. So like, when I'm doing Vine, and kids come up to me that were not even alive when my show was airing, being like, "Oh, I see your vines." You know what I mean? Like, I think that type of stuff is kind of valuable, you know?

• 25:37Andrew Santino?

Oh yeah, well, you gotta keep, I mean, you have to keep up with the times. I mean, like, if, if you're not moving with the thing, it's gonna move without you. I'm not saying you need to like, be beholden to them, but it is a piece of it. I mean, we're, this is the internet now. But I, it, this is the greatest version of it, because we get to make it on our own and then show them what we make, which has always been the, it's always been kind of the guts and the core of creation on the internet was like, well, when we'll make it, we'll just give it to the fans that like it. We don't need to go, give it to the machine. It's nice that the machines exist, but like,

• 26:06Speaker 04

And music is the same way a lot of the time now.

• 26:08Andrew Santino?

Yeah, yeah. I mean, more and more indie, indie music's always, always been, you know, a cornerstone of the growth of, of good new artists. But now I feel like there's so much indie music, because the internet was like, everything, anyone, all the time.

• 26:24Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 26:24Andrew Santino?

You could take, anybody can take a shot.

• 26:26Speaker 04

And then you have the people that blow up and they just still never sign. They're like, "I don't need you now."

• 26:30Andrew Santino?

I mean, but why? Sometimes why, I guess? Like, if you don't want it, why, what would be, what is it gonna do for you?

• 26:35Speaker 04

Yeah, it just puts you in debt.

• 26:37Andrew Santino?

Put you in debt, right? You get that advance, you spend it on all sorts of bullshit. But now I'm following, who did I just see, dude? Uh, is the baby doing cooking classes online? Is that what I saw? He's like, "Have you seen this online?" He's doing, he's like, cooking before.

• 26:51Speaker 04

  That's crazy.

• 26:52Andrew Santino?

He's like doing, he's cooking full meals outside of his tour buses? And he's now like, gotten enough fanship from it, right? Is that right? Yeah, there's one.

• 27:00Speaker 04

That's funny. I mean, this, this is super a long time ago, but, rest in peace, but Coolio had a cooking show. It was called Cooking with Coolio. And he called himself the ghetto gourmet. He made a book out of it. And I, I, I did a collab with him. And he had the salt in dime bags.

• 27:21Andrew Santino?

  That's so good.

• 27:25Andrew Santino?

  Coolio's the man, dude.

• 27:26Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 27:27Andrew Santino?

Rest in peace, 100. Yeah, there's the baby. What is it called? Oh, that's Coolio. Wait, I can't see. What does it say? There's Cookable Coolio. He was the man, too.

• 27:35Speaker 04

Yeah, I went over his house for Thanksgiving and he made fried turkey. It was the first time I had a fried turkey.

• 27:40Andrew Santino?

  Deep fried turkey?

• 27:40Speaker 04

  Amazing, yeah.

• 27:41Andrew Santino?

  You loved it, right?

• 27:42Speaker 04

  Yeah, and then-

• 27:42Andrew Santino?

  You can't go back.

• 27:43Speaker 04

And then he gave me some weed and I feel like if I went to any lawn and grabbed a bunch of grass and rolled up and smoked it, I would have gotten higher than the weed that he gave me. It was so bad.

• 27:57Andrew Santino?

It's funny to know Coolio had dirt weed. I love that. That actually makes him so much better.

• 28:01Speaker 04

He was such a likable, fun person of your own.

• 28:03Andrew Santino?

A good dude. Was he, who? Who at your core, at your youth core in the hip-hop world was your biggest influences? Like, who did you love the most as a kid?

• 28:12Speaker 04

As a kid, um, definitely Snoop Dogg, uh, N.W.A. I listened to N.W.A. like it was, like my religion, you know? I'd go sit at the beach with my, with my mom and I would be blasting N.W.A.

• 28:26Andrew Santino?

  West Coast, west coast only?

• 28:28Speaker 04

No, no, no, no, no, like Jeru the Damageer, like-

• 28:32Andrew Santino?

  Love Jeru.

• 28:33Speaker 04

  Tribe Called Quest, um, um-

• 28:36Andrew Santino?

  De La?

• 28:37Speaker 04

Gang Star, De La. Even like Digable Planets I was fucking with. Um, it was mostly actually east coast. But then like, you know, some of the west coast.

• 28:49Andrew Santino?

Right. I loved only east coast. I like fought it like crazy when I was a kid. I was like, no, listen to west coast. I was from Chicago and I was like, I only like east coast shit. And then-

• 28:58Speaker 04

And then Wu-Tang came out and was like the best group of all time.

• 29:01Andrew Santino?

Of all time, yeah. But West Side Connection, really, I love West Side Connection, man. I love that album. I was like-

• 29:07Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 29:07Andrew Santino?

I started to really get into west coast shit, but I still kinda, I still always have an affinity for- My tops were always like Nas and Gang Star and I love KRS, but he wasn't like my ultimate.

• 29:18Speaker 04

Yeah, KRS has a couple like really catchy songs that you could listen to at any time, you know, like The Bridge Is Over and shit.

• 29:24Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, he's got, look-

• 29:25Speaker 04

  The Bridge Is Over.

• 29:26Andrew Santino?

I respect him. But I don't- Put it up, bye!

• 29:32Andrew Santino?

  Hey, hey.

• 29:33Speaker 04

You should, you should go walking around Watts by yourself and just do that.

• 29:37Andrew Santino?

  Put it up, bye!

• 29:41Andrew Santino?

  See if I get jumped.

• 29:42Speaker 04

I did, I did an IRL stream in, in Compton by myself, but it was during the day.

• 29:47Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, daytime's fine.

• 29:47Speaker 04

  It's fine.

• 29:48Andrew Santino?

  Nighttime's no bueno.

• 29:49Speaker 04

It'd be like a cool like title, you know what I mean?

• 29:51Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 29:52Speaker 04

And then I got streamed tonight by these like six foot seven fucking, uh, like college ballers. And they just were like, yo, we saw you were here. What are you doing here? And I just got in their car. We just drove around and I'm like, that's like, like, the good thing about like streaming like that. There's no rawer form of reality they could get. There's no editing. Everything that happens just happens. And like, no matter how technology changes, you can't get a raw, a more raw version of reality than like, you know.

• 30:24Andrew Santino?

  Streaming.

• 30:25Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 30:25Andrew Santino?

Yeah, live. It's real. It's here. There's no fixing it. There's no changing it. No cuts.

• 30:29Speaker 04

There's no technology that can come out that makes reality more real, you know?

• 30:33Andrew Santino?

  That's true.

• 30:34Speaker 04

Maybe visuals will look more real, but you know.

• 30:36Andrew Santino?

No, but that's the one. But that's it. And with hu- with human, random human interaction, because you, you pick up some great.

• 30:41Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 30:41Andrew Santino?

One of the funniest moments, you, I know you have hated it and loved it, but when you went to get your haircut.

• 30:46Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 30:50Andrew Santino?

And they gave you a lady cut?

• 30:51Speaker 04

  Oh, my God. The best.

• 30:53Andrew Santino?

It's one of the funny, to this day, bro, I wa- I, that rips me to shreds. And you're like, I think, I, I think this dude takes off a check. It's the funniest thing.

• 31:03Speaker 04

And she, and he goes, he goes, Bella, and he kisses my cheek.

• 31:08Andrew Santino?

That dude, that ripped me to shreds. I thought that was one of the funniest. And you rolled with the haircut.

• 31:12Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 31:13Andrew Santino?

You ro- you rocked the haircut.

• 31:15Speaker 04

  Brother, um.

• 31:16Andrew Santino?

  It was so good.

• 31:17Speaker 04

That might be the best one, but I think the most memorable one to me is, I started doing IRL stream in Venice. And this homeless looking Willy Wonka guy came up to me. And he's like, where do you live? I'm like, I don't know. He goes, you're coming with me now. You want a lollipop? And he kept giving me like candy. And he goes, I just got out of the psych ward. I'm gonna go harass those cops. And like, my whole stream is like, run, run, run, run, run, run, run.

• 31:43Andrew Santino?

  Don't eat that lollipop.

• 31:44Speaker 04

And then we're at the, we're at the Whole Foods, like, um, parking lot. And so we walked down to walk down Rose Avenue. And there's a bunch of homeless people like in the way, sitting on the stairs. And they're yelling at that guy, cuz he probably fucked them over and did some crazy shit. So he goes, "They're mad at me, I'm gonna go through the laundry mat, just meet me on the other side." And my chat's just going, "Run, run, run, run, run, run, run." So I like stepped over them and I just like fucking ran. And I, I went into this bar that I always go to. And I hid in the like background, like in the bathroom. I like, it was like, it was like a fucking thriller movie.

• 32:22Andrew Santino?

Narrowly, yeah, I was gonna say, narrowly escaping death live on the stream.

• 32:26Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah, it's fun shit.

• 32:27Andrew Santino?

The stream, the, the, the streaming is fun, but also. Isn't there moments that you're like, "I don't wanna, I don't wanna put this all on camera right now." Like, do you ever get hung up by it?

• 32:40Speaker 04

I don't, so like, like doing it in America now is like, you know, for the most part, kind of like a waste.

• 32:47Andrew Santino?

  Burnt?

• 32:47Speaker 04

Yeah, it's burnt and it's just like too risky in certain areas. So now I just like stream my vacations, like, it's like pretty much limited to like Japan and Greece.

• 32:57Andrew Santino?

  Japan, man.

• 32:58Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 32:58Andrew Santino?

  The greatest.

• 32:59Speaker 04

  Yeah, it depends on that.

• 33:00Andrew Santino?

  What a fantasy town.

• 33:01Speaker 04

It, it's like, if you could describe Japan to someone, it's like if you took off on the airplane and landed on another planet.

• 33:09Andrew Santino?

  Hundred percent.

• 33:10Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 33:10Andrew Santino?

And the trippiest thing to me was, like around Tokyo, you'd get out at a random train stop. And you're like, "I'm in a new city again." It's still Tokyo, but you're in a whole new city world. And then you do it again and you go four or five train stops, whole new world. I mean, like. That happens occasionally in the city, like New York has, you know, different spots that you go to that transform differently into.

• 33:30Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 33:31Andrew Santino?

But dude, Japan was, it was cra- it was like, uh, it blew my mind at how a whole new city felt every time I got out of a train stop.

• 33:37Speaker 04

I did exactly just that, I was like, "I'm gonna get lost on stream, that's what my goal is today." So I just randomly got on a fucking train. Counted it and I didn't count stops, I'm just like whenever I feel like it. Okay, I feel like getting off. I got off and right where I got off, there was a bus and I'm like, I'm getting on that bus. Then I went on the bus and then another like 20 minutes and then it was like starting to rain. So I saw a little like haircutting place. He didn't make me look like a woman thankfully. I went in. This like Japanese guy gave me like the best fucking scalp massage of my life and cut my hair and then like, you know, I fucking hopped in a taxi and went back to my hotel. It was nice.

• 34:15Andrew Santino?

  Awesome.

• 34:17Speaker 05

• 34:46Andrew Santino?

Just speaking of Japan and your boy Bourdain, I found myself searching for Piss Alley after I watched that episode.

• 34:51Speaker 04

Oh yeah, Piss Alley is, is very popular now.

• 34:54Andrew Santino?

It is now, yeah, it was. I went after I'd heard about that because I was like fascinated with it.

• 34:58Speaker 04

I got my picture up on a couple of those bars.

• 35:01Andrew Santino?

  Those bars are the best.

• 35:02Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 35:02Andrew Santino?

The coolest thing is when you get invited to someone's like apartment, you're like in someone's house. You're like in someone's living room. We did that multiple times. We met this couple who was quite young and they were like backpacking and you could tell they were, they were not a couple outside of this trip. This was new, this was new for them, like they had met on vac, on a trip. And they were young lovers and I was, we were fascinated with them. So my wife and I were like, we should just buy them a ton of shit, like food and dinner and drinks, like give them the, just like give them the night. So I could tell they were living that movie. I was directing the movie. They were, they were in it, you know? And we bought them drinks and food all night. And then we were getting hammered, partying, going out, dancing. We were in this guy's living room, dancing, listening to records on the floor of some guy's like little loft. And at some point I thought, man, we just like made, we could have made a baby with these people.

• 35:47Andrew Santino?

Like we could have just produced a family.

• 35:49Speaker 04

I like doing that for people.

• 35:51Andrew Santino?

  It's fun, man.

• 35:51Speaker 04

Cause it's like, if you do something nice for people, like you, you just like, you know, you smile and you think about it, but then you, you don't realize the staying power it could have. You know what I mean? Like that shit could like really just like. They could just stay in their brain for forever.

• 36:05Andrew Santino?

  To transform their future.

• 36:06Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 36:07Andrew Santino?

  It's kinda cool.

• 36:08Speaker 04

  Yeah, it is.

• 36:08Andrew Santino?

Yeah, more, do more shit like that.

• 36:10Speaker 04

  Yeah, for sure.

• 36:10Andrew Santino?

Drop nuggets all over the place for people.

• 36:12Speaker 04

  Yup.

• 36:12Andrew Santino?

Yeah, like, well, you know what I see now is people do this thing on streams. I see people like leaving money hidden all over LA.

• 36:19Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 36:19Andrew Santino?

There's a guy that's like very famous that does it.

• 36:22Speaker 04

Yeah, like they're like, it's kinda like one of those like cash things.

• 36:25Andrew Santino?

Yeah, he's like, I'll, I'll, I'll leave, you know, he's like, I'm leaving five grand in this random spot. And I'm like, this is crazy, just bury money in these spots. But, but the, but the fanship and the following is so big, they, they find it fast.

• 36:37Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 36:38Andrew Santino?

Like, there's a dude that was in Chicago, I saw on a stream, and he was, he's like a find me guy. He's like, can you find me? And this girl found him in seconds. It was trippy.

• 36:45Speaker 04

I feel like the savvy people that could find the cash probably don't need it as much as the people that you could give it to.

• 36:51Andrew Santino?

That's probably true, just give it away.

• 36:52Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 36:52Andrew Santino?

You should be giving it away.

• 36:55Andrew Santino?

It is true. You gotta come back to LA, by the way, I kept thinking about that. You and the awesome thing, you gotta go.

• 37:01Speaker 04

I, I am, I, I paid for my thing like a year in advance, so like, I'm gonna have to like, maybe. I, I have things to do anyway, so like, once, I'm probably gonna get an Airbnb for a month. Go back for a little bit, then I gotta go to New York, and then I'm flying to Greece, I'm gonna be in Greece for like six weeks.

• 37:17Andrew Santino?

This is your life on the run.

• 37:19Speaker 04

It's not, I mean, it's not really as crazy anymore. I'm not like, I'm not like, you know, the homie Oliver Tree, I know you just had him on.

• 37:27Andrew Santino?

  Love dude.

• 37:28Speaker 04

He's one of my favorite people, he's awesome. That motherfucker will do some Steve Aoki shit, where he'll be on a flight like every day for like fucking three months, like, I don't do that, like. I'll, I'll be chilling for like a few months, like five, maybe even five months, and then I'll go some, there, somewhere that I really love, and I'll go there for like a month and a half.

• 37:47Andrew Santino?

  And just disappear.

• 37:47Speaker 04

And just post the fuck up.

• 37:49Andrew Santino?

Solo. Do you ever travel with anybody?

• 37:50Speaker 04

Well, I have a. Sometimes I travel with people, but I have a lot of people in Greece, my whole family is over there on my dad's side.

• 37:57Andrew Santino?

They all, so people are still over there?

• 37:59Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, so like.

• 38:00Andrew Santino?

  Milonakis.

• 38:01Speaker 04

Milonakis Malakas, um, so when we're up in the mountains, it's like. It's like a Twilight Zone, like it's my double life. My aunt has goats, she has fig trees, she has fucking potatoes planted, tomatoes, fucking strawberries. And it's like so old school up there, like each village has like a population of twenty. And you're just looking at the mountains with no clouds, perfect fucking weather. And you're just like eating off the land. It's like, it's like I'm living another life and I'm so, I feel so lucky to get to do that, you know?

• 38:33Andrew Santino?

  Could you live there?

• 38:35Speaker 04

I don't know. I feel like places that are really magical to me, like Japan and Greece. Are probably gonna be less magical if I live there full time.

• 38:46Andrew Santino?

  That's probably very true.

• 38:47Speaker 04

  Yeah, so I don't know.

• 38:48Andrew Santino?

You move to Bora Bora, it's gonna feel a lot different if you're there every day.

• 38:51Speaker 04

Yeah, I am gonna get my dual citizenship because it's a strong one to have. Because Greece is part of the EU.

• 38:57Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 38:57Speaker 04

So like those twenty seven countries, like pretty much all the popular EU countries. I can live at permanently, work at permanently. Like just because of the Greek passport, you get access to all twenty seven.

• 39:09Andrew Santino?

  You do?

• 39:10Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 39:10Andrew Santino?

  Cause the EU, yeah.

• 39:11Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 39:12Andrew Santino?

  That's wild dude.

• 39:13Speaker 04

So I am gonna finish that up. I just have, I have a lawyer over there doing shit.

• 39:16Andrew Santino?

  A good Greek lawyer?

• 39:18Speaker 04

  Yeah, a good Greek lawyer.

• 39:19Andrew Santino?

  My big fat Greek lawyer?

• 39:20Speaker 04

I gotta, I gotta. I gotta get a couple apostles. I don't know how to pronounce it. Is it apostle? Apostle?

• 39:28Andrew Santino?

  Apostle?

• 39:29Speaker 04

They like, uh, they do a.

• 39:30Andrew Santino?

Oh, oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You don't speak, you don't speak?

• 39:34Speaker 04

Oh, I speak enough to get by.

• 39:36Andrew Santino?

  You do?

• 39:36Speaker 04

I can speak enough to get by, you know, like just basic shit. Like I'm, I, I get lost when people are like in full fucking.

• 39:48Andrew Santino?

Yeah, Greek sounds like, it sounds like a more yelly Italian. That's what it sounds like to me. It's like a screamy Italian.

• 39:54Speaker 04

Yeah, when my dad used to be on the phone, I'd, he'd sound like he was in a fight every time.

• 39:59Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, he's not.

• 40:00Speaker 04

Ella, hello? Okay, okay. Like I'm just like, bro, they can hear you. What the fuck's wrong with you?

• 40:08Andrew Santino?

Now they need to project, the Greeks need to project for some reason.

• 40:11Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 40:11Andrew Santino?

They need everyone to know they're talking.

• 40:13Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 40:14Andrew Santino?

It's the same, a lot of European countries are like that too, where you're like, is, are they mad? I felt that every time I'm in France, I'm always like, is that guy fucking mad? It's like, no dude, that's just how they.

• 40:23Speaker 04

If it's France, they probably are mad.

• 40:24Andrew Santino?

They're just, no, they're not, they're, they're not, they're nonplussed. Their whole attitude is like. Yeah, okay, what do you want? You want a cheeseburger? They're like annoyed, but it's fine. Do you know what I mean? Like they get by.

• 40:36Speaker 04

I found the stereotype about French people was not true, except for the waiters. The waiters was like a movie. It was like spot on, true.

• 40:44Andrew Santino?

They're not fucking with you at all.

• 40:45Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah. But they're just like the civilians.

• 40:48Andrew Santino?

  No, the people are great.

• 40:49Speaker 04

I didn't get that by, you know?

• 40:49Andrew Santino?

  No, the people are great.

• 40:50Speaker 04

I didn't have a phone. For some reason, I needed to call someone and these girls were sitting next to me. I was actually at one of the places Bourdain went to.

• 40:59Speaker 04

And I was like, yo, can I please borrow your phone? I know you don't know me, but I need to call someone. And she goes, okay, okay. She gave me my, gave me, uh, gave me her phone. I got to call my friend. And then like I just, you know how they leave the little receipts out? So I just took her receipt and paid for their bill, you know?

• 41:14Andrew Santino?

  That's tight.

• 41:15Speaker 04

Yeah, it's just like, you know, show a little love back, you know?

• 41:17Andrew Santino?

  Small things.

• 41:18Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 41:19Andrew Santino?

So, but the solo travel, that doesn't ever get a little shaky for you? Do you, like, are you ever, when you're on the go doing stuff? Are you, do you ever want a crew with you or no?

• 41:28Speaker 04

Um, I usually at least have someone. Like I know people in Japan. If I go to Japan, I'm gonna be hanging out with like at least a few people.

• 41:35Andrew Santino?

There's people that you know on, that wherever you're going?

• 41:38Speaker 04

Not wherever. Like if I was gonna go somewhere new. Like I could reach out and probably find someone and they could take me around, you know?

• 41:45Andrew Santino?

  That's cool.

• 41:46Speaker 04

If I posted an Instagram video being like, yo, I'm coming to Poland. Like I'd get a few DMs being like, you know, blah, blah, blah. I could check into them, make sure they're legit. And like I'll have someone to like take me around and hang out with, like. That part's pretty easy, but I, I do go to a lot of repeat places, like when I, like back in the day, a little bit, like five years ago, I would go like to every, you know, a lot of different countries and now.

• 42:08Andrew Santino?

Where, where haven't you gone that you, that's targeted?

• 42:11Speaker 04

I, I mean Taiwan's very small, but I'd like to go to Taiwan.

• 42:14Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 42:15Speaker 04

I've been to mainland China. That was polarizing as fuck. That was cool.

• 42:18Andrew Santino?

Cool. Did you go to Hong Kong too?

• 42:20Speaker 04

Uh, I've been to Hong Kong. I like Hong Kong a lot.

• 42:22Andrew Santino?

Yeah, people, a lot of people like Hong Kong.

• 42:23Speaker 04

Yeah, the buildings, like there's some like dilapidated buildings. It feels like Blade Runner. It's like really old school. But, um, I like Hong Kong. I avoid Southeast Asia cuz it's too fucking hot. I don't wanna walk around with a backpack with batteries and shit. It's a hundred degrees and a hundred percent humidity like. Maybe if I like lose some of my fucking uh pregnancy.

• 42:43Andrew Santino?

  Philippines are never gonna happen.

• 42:45Speaker 04

It might. I I think I just gotta lose like thirty-five forty pounds and then I'll like feel more comfortable being in fucking uh living in outdoor sauna the whole time, you know?

• 42:55Andrew Santino?

We should do, we should do a uh lose thirty-five and get Andy to the Philippines.

• 42:59Speaker 04

  Yeah, true.

• 43:01Andrew Santino?

You should do like a challenge. Make me lose enough weight to go to the Philippines.

• 43:05Speaker 04

Yeah. Philippines would be cool. Philippine Filipinos are really nice.

• 43:10Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, the best.

• 43:11Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 43:11Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 43:12Speaker 04

I'd like to do that. Also, there are some off times where it's not like as bad heat wise.

• 43:17Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, but it's pretty hot.

• 43:18Speaker 04

Yeah, it's pretty hot. You're pretty hot.

• 43:20Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, ditto.

• 43:21Speaker 04

I will suck that orange dick.

• 43:23Andrew Santino?

Don't do that to me, dude. Don't do that. I'll hurt that leg. I'll fuck you so hard I'll break that leg again. Yeah, you sip it bitch. What'd you do to crack the leg the first way? It's got.

• 43:33Speaker 04

So for years I was going to this like studio. We'd go to record and also after after you know since lame ass LA closes at two AM.

• 43:42Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, it does.

• 43:43Speaker 04

After that, we would just go to the studio cuz it was a big, big open space and we'd just bring chicks back. We'd drink and shit and um everybody told us, don't go to the like underground club next door. It's like illegally open. It's all gangsters. It's not hood.

• 43:59Andrew Santino?

  So naturally, we went.

• 44:00Speaker 04

It's not hood. It's actual like gangsters and shit. And they would pop their head in once in a while. We'd be like, oh, it's the wrong door. So we we never went. None of my boys went. Um, and then one day we went because there's an A and R that only fucks black chicks. And she was going there and I was like, you know, I probably had a couple joints. I was drinking fucking Hennessy. They called me to the stage to do some rap shit. It wasn't a real stage. It looked like bunk bed ladders that just went up twenty feet. And I climbed up that shit and I fell and I broke my leg in two places.

• 44:36Andrew Santino?

  Holy shit.

• 44:37Speaker 04

And while my leg was broken in two places, these guys that were helping me to the car robbed me.

• 44:46Andrew Santino?

  That's incredible.

• 44:47Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah.

• 44:47Andrew Santino?

They jacked you while you were broken.

• 44:49Speaker 04

Yeah, and I had a lot of cash on me.

• 44:51Andrew Santino?

Why are you carrying a lot of cash?

• 44:52Speaker 04

Because I had like four people in town and I wanted to like show them a good time, you know, I was just like, I don't know.

• 45:00Andrew Santino?

Like you had like a lot a lot?

• 45:02Speaker 04

Nah nah, I didn't have like ten bands, yeah, a couple G's. A lot, that's a lot as like cash to have in your pocket, yeah.

• 45:09Andrew Santino?

And did you have jewelry on or anything?

• 45:11Speaker 04

No, no, so I was screaming in the back of the car and then

• 45:17Speaker 04

yeah, I was like, I don't care about the cash, just get my wallet. I didn't want to have to get a new ID, new fucking cards and shit. I was just screaming for someone to go down and try to get my wallet from the guys. I got my wallet back with all my IDs and shit. The people that took me to the hospital were from out of town, so they took me to ghetto ass Kaiser Permanente. And I didn't want them to operate on me and they're like, they came in, they're like, you know, you're sitting there with your leg broken into. We need to operate on you or you need to figure it out, like.

• 45:49Speaker 04

So I had an old friend that her mother's a nurse and she got a private ambulance to take me to Cedars.

• 45:56Andrew Santino?

  Damn.

• 45:56Speaker 04

Like right in the nick of time, so I got to Cedars, they did the operation and mazel tov.

• 46:01Andrew Santino?

  Private ambulances, you're on one.

• 46:03Speaker 04

That's how we do it, you know what I mean?

• 46:04Andrew Santino?

I guess, bro. That's incredible. And so you went to Cedars, they fixed you up, you got pins all in your leg, so you're a bionic man.

• 46:11Speaker 04

Not just pins, like a metal implant, like a...

• 46:13Andrew Santino?

  You cracked that shit bad.

• 46:15Speaker 04

Yeah, it's a Tib and Fib, I cracked both.

• 46:17Andrew Santino?

T and B? T and B! You know I be doin', I be cracking that Tib and Fib? You should spit a rhyme about that.

• 46:24Speaker 04

That's my Tib and Fib, my BEEEE!

• 46:29Andrew Santino?

That's wild to fall. Were you embarrassed and hurt and got robbed? It's like layers of sad.

• 46:35Speaker 04

I mean, no, because I was drunk and high. I was just like, fuck, like, uh, like. I couldn't be angry, I was just out of it.

• 46:42Andrew Santino?

The embarrassment would have over washed, I would have tried to walk out, I'd have been like, I'm fine, man. I'm so embarrassed of falling, I was like, I fell on my neck at the YMCA. Got my legs taken out from me. And I tried to pretend like it wasn't that big of a deal. Big deal, concussion, big deal.

• 46:56Speaker 04

Big deal, I almost broke my ass outside.

• 46:58Andrew Santino?

Yeah, you did, you almost died out front of our studio.

• 47:01Speaker 04

  Hmm.

• 47:03Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, gurgling, baby.

• 47:08Andrew Santino?

How many times you think you've almost died?

• 47:11Andrew Santino?

Like, how many close calls have you had?

• 47:13Speaker 04

I don't know, man. I've been in fucking some pretty fast cars, probably going like 190 or something.

• 47:18Andrew Santino?

  It's heavy.

• 47:19Speaker 04

  That's kinda scary.

• 47:20Andrew Santino?

How about gun to the head? When they robbed you, they put, were they, did they, uh...

• 47:24Speaker 04

Why would they have to put a gun in my head? It's a little fat Greek-American with fucking cash in his pocket with a broken leg in two.

• 47:30Andrew Santino?

That's the funniest shit. We were gonna rob this little fat Greek kid.

• 47:32Speaker 04

We better pull the gun out in case he doesn't give it to us!

• 47:36Andrew Santino?

What, they were just like, "Run your shit," and you were like, "All right, grab my wallet."

• 47:38Speaker 04

Bro, I was on the floor with my leg broken in two. They fucking just dug in my fucking pant pockets.

• 47:43Andrew Santino?

  Damn.

• 47:45Andrew Santino?

Tough. We're not going back to that nightclub anymore.

• 47:48Speaker 04

No, I got it closed down.

• 47:50Andrew Santino?

You did? What, you called Karen Bass?

• 47:53Speaker 04

Yeah, I was like, "Let me speak to your manager."

• 47:56Speaker 06

I'll close this place down, fellas! You guys aren't robbing me!

• 48:01Speaker 04

I was like, "Yo, these guys are gonna rot in hell." If you don't have any conscience at all, you're gonna rob someone while their leg is broken, like, suck a dick and die, kill yourself.

• 48:09Andrew Santino?

That's awful, bro. That's crazy, dude. Yeah, I mean, a little funny, I'm not gonna lie, but that is funny for you to be like, "Ah!" And they're just digging in your shit.

• 48:17Speaker 04

Just digging in my fucking pants.

• 48:18Andrew Santino?

It's bad news. So what are you doing now? What's next? When you come, like, what's, what do you want next? What's on the horizon?

• 48:24Speaker 04

I just wanna, I just wanna move back here, cuz I think I can just do more creative shit. I don't know what that is.

• 48:30Andrew Santino?

Would you do a show again?

• 48:32Speaker 04

Yeah, but it would have to be way different. The delivery bits wouldn't work, the outdoor shit wouldn't work. Like, the sketch comedy, like, weird sketch comedy shit would work, cuz that shit's timeless.

• 48:42Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, of course.

• 48:42Speaker 04

But like, the people outdoors, they're just too used to cameras. The deliveries are all Ubers, they're not like, you know, old foreigners.

• 48:50Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 48:50Speaker 04

Um, so, it would have to be way different. But I would do another show again, as long as it's not on old-fashioned TV. It's gotta be on like a streaming service.

• 48:58Andrew Santino?

It's gotta be on the internet, yeah.

• 48:58Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah, for sure.

• 48:59Andrew Santino?

What year did your show premiere?

• 49:01Speaker 04

  Twenty... 2004 to 2007, I think.

• 49:06Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 49:06Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 49:06Andrew Santino?

Pretty instrumentally, like, ahead of its time. Like, pretty remarkably ahead of its time. There's a lot of, a lot of people trying to kinda do that thing years later that, you know, I'm not saying you're like the only one, but you were pretty quick to it.

• 49:20Speaker 04

Yeah, I appreciate it. Yeah, I think the thing that's different now, which people are shameless about, and it takes away the comedy, is... Annoying and embarrassing people versus making yourself the butt of the joke. Like, and I, I don't like that.

• 49:37Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 49:38Speaker 04

Like, just being an asshole, blatant asshole to people is not funny. When you make yourself look like a goofball, you might be still disturbing people a little bit. It's not like a hundred percent innocent. But you gotta make yourself the butt of the joke because then the audience laughs with you and they're not feeling awkward for the other people.

• 49:56Andrew Santino?

Totally, that's exactly, I told you, that's our secret formula. We, I did punked was the first thing I ever did, hidden camera. The bit for us was always, because punk's infancy was extremely like, look what you did. Look what you did. It was a lot of look what you did.

• 50:10Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 50:11Andrew Santino?

And I think like when we started writing on that show, I was like, this can't be a look what you did. It's gotta be a like, look what I did, can you help me? So then they're inherently involved, they feel bad, you fucked up, so you look like the idiot. Versus the celebrity's a dumb, dumb ass, look at how stupid they look, you fucked it up, you ruined. And that, that did happen on the show still.

• 50:30Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 50:30Andrew Santino?

But more often than not, we'd want the pie on our face. So if we look dumb or we were ridiculous, it helped sell the bit more. Instead of being like, that's mean.

• 50:40Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 50:40Andrew Santino?

It was more like, oh, that's funny to watch us have pie on our face. When it's pie on their face, like I see a lot of that now in hidden camera world. And I don't love it, like I, you know, and we're subject to it, like we did it, but I didn't. It always made me feel gross. At the end of the night, I'd go home and I'd take a shower. And I remember like before I go to bed being like, I fucking hated that bit. Because if we fucked with someone in a way where it was like, it was on them, it was like, ah, it should have been on us. I, I, and I, I had a tough time sleeping some of those, some of those shoots because you were bummed out.

• 51:10Speaker 04

Yeah. Also, my, my big thing, which I think I was guilty of, or my show was guilty of a little bit. That, you know, I think like, you know, when you think about the old Howard Stern whack pack, it's like the exploitation. Of people who are not like fully there.

• 51:27Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 51:27Speaker 04

And I, I feel bad about that. Like, I think, I think that a lot of the people that were on our show, we probably made their lives better. But I don't really like that. Specific part of it.

• 51:40Andrew Santino?

  I know what you mean.

• 51:41Speaker 04

Cause I feel bad about that.

• 51:41Andrew Santino?

  Cause we grow, we learn.

• 51:42Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 51:43Andrew Santino?

You didn't know, back then it was a different time. I mean, Howard Stern is a very preachy guy now. He's wagged a finger and he's the same guy that made girls come on a sibby and live on air. You're like, alright dude, I don't know if I wanna hear you fucking preach to me. You had a guy named Gary the Retard on, that's what you named him on the show. It was like, chill out, chill out. It was like, a lot of ti- and I know we're all learning and growing and changing and thank god. But like, it is weird that when you look back on some of that stuff and the heyday of that world of like, the Stern world, this like, heavy in your face, loud, brash. A lot of it, you were like, this was, this was a little fucking mean. Like, it was a little fucked up.

• 52:20Speaker 04

But like, also like, back then, it was fun to watch because it was like that.

• 52:24Andrew Santino?

Cause it was crazy, yeah, yeah, it was wild.

• 52:27Speaker 04

And like, sometimes I feel like that with certain Instagram, like, accounts where they have like autistic son or something. And they're just blasting the video in their face while they're freaking out all the time.

• 52:38Andrew Santino?

It's always a little strange, I'm like, do they want this?

• 52:40Speaker 04

Yeah, exactly. They can't really know if they want it and like, but then they have like a really loving audience that are like, yo, I have an autistic son too, thank you for your videos, you know? So like, I think it's like, kind of like, in the middle.

• 52:52Andrew Santino?

  Both things can exist.

• 52:53Speaker 04

Yeah, it's kind of in the middle.

• 52:55Andrew Santino?

Whereas, we talk about Love on the Spectrum, one of my favorite shows, but that's, they electively go on that show because they wanna find love.

• 53:00Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 53:00Andrew Santino?

So this is more of like a showcase, not an exploitation. This is like, well, these people want love, we love to put them in the position.

• 53:06Speaker 04

But are we laughing at them, we are a little bit?

• 53:08Andrew Santino?

No, no, I'm laughing with them.

• 53:10Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 53:10Andrew Santino?

Yes, uh, I love Connor, that's my dog. Connor's my dog, dude. Connor's number one.

• 53:15Speaker 04

It's hard, it's hard, you know?

• 53:16Andrew Santino?

You're laughing at the, you're laughing at the world of, um, cause love is, I think what it just shows on those shows is like, love is extremely complex. I don't care, um, if you're neurotypical or not, love is confusing for everybody.

• 53:31Speaker 04

It's not our fault though, like instinctually, if someone who's like disabled, mentally disabled, makes a crazy noise or something, you know, we're not saints, it's just instinctively kind of funny, right?

• 53:42Andrew Santino?

I heard it when you said it. It didn't even happen, but I heard it happen.

• 53:45Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know what I mean, like, it's not like we're bastards for laughing at that, but it's also kind of like, oh fuck, it's kind of mean, you know?

• 53:51Andrew Santino?

A little, but, but also, if they find it funny. You know what I mean?

• 53:56Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 53:57Andrew Santino?

It's like a fart. Is a fart not funny, ever?

• 54:00Speaker 04

I'm weird with that shit, I don't know.

• 54:01Andrew Santino?

Farts are always funny to me, for the rest of my life. Fart is not funny to you. Somebody farts in a restaurant next to you, do you hear it? Hilarious. I'm gonna, I have to laugh.

• 54:09Speaker 04

  Sometimes, I guess.

• 54:10Andrew Santino?

Gonna laugh every time, it's impossible. I remember being, I remember like my dad pissing with me at a baseball, like a Cubs game. And we're peeing and, we're peeing next to each other, and I was, I was young. And a guy, like two down, just ripped. And my dad chuckled, and I was like, see, farts are funny, even when you're dad. Like, even when your dad's, farts are cool when you're dad.

• 54:33Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 54:33Andrew Santino?

Also, it took me out of the fact that when you pee in those things when you're a little kid, and you're thinking about how much bigger everyone's penis is than yours. The mental mindfuck of pissing in a trough as a young man.

• 54:43Speaker 04

  A trough?

• 54:44Andrew Santino?

Scariest. Do, well, they used to, Soldier Field used to have troughs, so you'd pee in a trough, and you'd be, there's just cocks out. And when you're a young boy, you're like, god, this is just nerve wracking. You're like, I hope I can pee. Please don't get nervous.

• 54:57Speaker 04

That'd be a good bit for like a pretend podcast, where you're just like, actively peeing, interviewing people, and you just keep looking down at each other.

• 55:04Andrew Santino?

Do you look at my dick? Are you looking at my cock? Just mid, mid pod.

• 55:08Speaker 04

So anyway, the first time I wrote a book, it was...

• 55:11Andrew Santino?

  Just cock out?

• 55:13Speaker 04

And the podcast is called Cocks Out.

• 55:15Andrew Santino?

Cocks Out. That's a, that is a social, uh, a social thing that for some reason, they, I don't even know why, they were like, yeah, just make them all piss right next to each other. You're like, well, you could, you could shield some people, it would be nice to have privacy. Cocks in a trough. The good old days, man. That's what the good old days were.

• 55:33Speaker 04

Then you go to Japan and it's like, separate stall, the walls go up to the fucking ceiling.

• 55:39Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, privacy dude.

• 55:40Speaker 04

Yeah, you wanna fucking rub one out, yeah, you're free.

• 55:46Speaker 04

  I got my anime.

• 55:48Andrew Santino?

  You like anime?

• 55:49Speaker 04

  Nah, I don't really.

• 55:49Andrew Santino?

  Come on dude.

• 55:50Speaker 04

Nah, I, I like normie anime, like, like, uh, Studio Ghibli shit, like, super normie.

• 55:56Andrew Santino?

Yeah, like very, like, you like anime with, with story?

• 55:59Speaker 04

  Yeah, like old cowboy bebop.

• 56:02Andrew Santino?

  You love that.

• 56:03Speaker 04

That's dope. And even the creator said, this is better to watch dubbed. And no one says that with like anime shit.

• 56:12Andrew Santino?

  Why that? Why? That's weird.

• 56:13Speaker 04

Because he just said it feels like a very kind of like a- American thing or something. And he's like, it's better to watch a dub than read subtitles with this show.

• 56:22Andrew Santino?

  I guess.

• 56:23Speaker 04

And it's really good that like the acting, so it's really good.

• 56:25Andrew Santino?

  Better dubbed.

• 56:26Speaker 04

But yeah, I mean, like my anime history is is almost zero, like. Fucking Ninja Scroll, fucking Spirited Away, like all all the Studio Ghibli shit, like I don't go deep with like the series and shit.

• 56:38Andrew Santino?

You you're not, that's not your thing?

• 56:39Speaker 04

  Nah.

• 56:40Andrew Santino?

  What is your shit?

• 56:42Speaker 04

  Um.

• 56:46Speaker 04

I don't know, I watch a lot of YouTube, I watch a lot of like travel shows.

• 56:50Andrew Santino?

  What's Andy doing at night?

• 56:52Speaker 04

At night? I'm probably like nerding out and like watching streams and watching shows like. Sometimes I'll like, sometimes I'll find a good series to watch. And I'll like lay in my bed, have the series on the MacBook and I'll like play a mobile game.

• 57:07Andrew Santino?

While the series is going on? Do we have to do two things all the time at once? We can't do. Was we just can't consume, I have to be on my phone doing something while I'm doing other.

• 57:17Speaker 04

Yeah, if it's a movie that I'm really into, I won't do that, but like a series and I'm watching like fucking six back to back episodes, I'm like, nah, fuck it.

• 57:26Andrew Santino?

I have to. I think we, I think we're living in the new world where it's like I have to be distracted while I'm consuming. Otherwise it gives me anxiety.

• 57:33Speaker 04

I just wish there was a show ca- that came out that I was like absolutely addicted to, because that doesn't really happen that often.

• 57:39Andrew Santino?

What have I gotten addicted to? A lot of times it's old shit that I go back and re- have you ever seen Toast of London? Do you know who Matt Berry is?

• 57:45Speaker 04

  Hmm, not sure.

• 57:46Andrew Santino?

Brother, I think it's the funniest. I think it's the funniest. Bring up a picture of Matt Berry.

• 57:50Speaker 04

I like, I like UK humor though.

• 57:52Andrew Santino?

Oh, bro, then you would. Matt Berry is, have you, do you ever see What We Do in the Shadows?

• 57:55Speaker 04

  No.

• 57:56Andrew Santino?

Oh, damn dude, so good. The IT crowd, yeah, have you ever seen the IT crowd?

• 58:01Speaker 04

  Nah, I gotta catch up.

• 58:02Andrew Santino?

Damn dude. If you like British humor, that's like-

• 58:04Speaker 04

I just watch like old shit like Peep Show and fucking-

• 58:07Andrew Santino?

Peep Show is phenomenal, phenomenal. Bro, you would love To- that's To- that's Matt Berry. What the fuck did you just say?

• 58:13Speaker 04

Oh, wait, wait, I know that guy.

• 58:14Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, you've seen him.

• 58:15Speaker 04

Yeah, but I don't know if I've seen that show.

• 58:16Andrew Santino?

Bro, Toast of London. Look, I liked What We Do in the Shadows, but Toast of London to me is at where he's at his like-

• 58:22Speaker 04

You gotta text me some of these.

• 58:23Andrew Santino?

I'm gonna hit you with this shit, because honestly like, I think Matt, I have such a crush on this dude. There's like a couple of people that do things that I have such a crush on where I've like gone out of my way to ask my agents, which I've never asked them anything my whole career, because they don't fucking do anything anyway. But I've asked them like, "Hey man, can you get me on-" I'll do it for free. If they're doing anything.

• 58:42Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 58:42Andrew Santino?

Don't, don't ask them, "I want a job." If they have a thing and they're doing, be like, "Santino will do it and I'll do it for free." Like, I bugged, I bugged for so long to get on Baskets. I wanted to get on B- I asked them a thousand times, because I love Galifianakis. I think, I, I just think that show was so brilliant. And all the time they were like, they appreciate it, but they're not using a lot of actor actors. They're using like, either unknowns or locals in Bakersfield. And I was obsessed. And I hit them up, I was like, "Tell them I will pay for this opportu-" like, I just wanna be in the machine, because I think it was so subversive and smart and, I, that's how I feel about Matt Berry. I think he's a fucking, a living comedic genius. And he kinda has this like effortless comedy,

• 59:24Andrew Santino?

where I know he knows he's funny, but he's, doesn't need to care about trying.

• 59:28Speaker 04

How do you, how do you feel about Nathan Felder?

• 59:31Andrew Santino?

  Nathan Fielder?

• 59:31Speaker 04

  Yeah, Fielder.

• 59:32Andrew Santino?

I, I, you know, I like him, um, uh,

• 59:38Andrew Santino?

I like him, but it's, but a lot of his stuff too, um, borders on like,

• 59:43Andrew Santino?

it's a little mean. It's like, some of it can be very mean, some of it's great, but some of it is almost like, damn dude, that's like fucking mean to that people.

• 59:50Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get that, I get that.

• 59:52Andrew Santino?

You know what I mean, like it, it, it, it's brilliant.

• 59:54Speaker 06

  It walks an ethical line.

• 59:55Andrew Santino?

It walks that line very close of like, is this very mean to do to this man?

• 59:58Speaker 04

And just like, some of this shit is like so high level though.

• 1:00:01Andrew Santino?

Some of it's, dude, the pl- flying up, learning to fly a fucking plane is- I mean, what are we talking about? Like, a guy learned- So good. Got his pilot's license. I mean, that's insane. Have you seen that?

• 1:00:09Speaker 04

  No, I didn't see that.

• 1:00:10Andrew Santino?

Oh, the rehearsal's insane. The rehearsal's insane. You need, that's like probably the most-

• 1:00:14Speaker 04

  Oh, the rehearsal, yeah.

• 1:00:15Andrew Santino?

Probably the most epic version of like, the guy went all the way to like learn how to fly a plane- on a 737, right? Is that what it is? I mean, bonkers. But there's moments that are so funny, they're undeniable with him. Like with the guy with the old dude where he's like-

• 1:00:28Speaker 04

What about the alligator in the room? Where he had to reach the free TV or something?

• 1:00:32Andrew Santino?

  Insane.

• 1:00:33Speaker 04

Yeah, like, some of it's like, I think, high-level genius shit.

• 1:00:35Andrew Santino?

You drink your son's pee? Yeah, when I'm scared. He's like, "Why do you drink your son's pee when you get scared? Because then I'm not scared anymore." It's fucking brilliant. I'm gonna text you a bunch of shit.

• 1:00:47Speaker 04

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:00:47Andrew Santino?

We're gonna get on it. And you know what I want you to do for me?

• 1:00:50Speaker 04

  What?

• 1:00:50Andrew Santino?

You need to do me one favor. When you go into the studio and you go to make music at some point, you have to text me, "I wanna come watch." I just wanna come hang out. Yeah, I would love that.

• 1:00:57Speaker 04

Okay. Um, do you smoke weed?

• 1:01:00Andrew Santino?

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:01:01Speaker 04

Okay, I, um... One of my favorite studios is called Conway. And you have your own, like, private bungalow with like an outdoor area, and it's like bougie as fuck. Like, it's probably like, maybe like 3 or 4K for like one session. Like, and I wanna, when I have the right producer and the right track, and like a couple songs that are just loaded to record, I wanna rent that for like a day. And like, that's the one I'll invite you to.

• 1:01:26Andrew Santino?

Say less, I would love to come. I genuinely would love to come.

• 1:01:28Speaker 04

That would be dope. You might have to do some ad-libs.

• 1:01:30Andrew Santino?

  Maybe. We'll see.

• 1:01:37Speaker 04

You should get some reg- you should get Budjubantan on. He's out of jail. He's going all over.

• 1:01:41Andrew Santino?

  He's free? Free? He's free? He's out?

• 1:01:43Speaker 04

  Yeah, he's motherfuckers free.

• 1:01:44Andrew Santino?

  Where is he now, though?

• 1:01:45Speaker 04

  He's right here.

• 1:01:48Speaker 04

He's, he's out, he's outside. He just tripped on-

• 1:01:50Andrew Santino?

He's always right here, yeah. He's always right here. We'll go. Next time we make music, you make music. I wanna come by and just, I wanna feel it out.

• 1:01:57Speaker 04

Yeah, that would be awesome. I'm down, baby.

• 1:02:00Andrew Santino?

Well, um, I love you. I appreciate you coming on the show. I want you to plug anything, if you wanna plug anything. Tell the audience, you know, do you wanna plug anything at all? Is there anything that you really want to plug?

• 1:02:11Speaker 04

  Go listen to some reggae.

• 1:02:13Andrew Santino?

Go listen to some fucking reggae. And, uh- Before we go, we close the show the same way. Look into that camera and you say one word or one phrase to end the episode. It used to be a word. Sometimes people like to impart wisdom or a bit, whatever you want.

• 1:02:31Speaker 04

  Kindness.

• 1:02:32Speaker 02

In here, we pour whiskey. Whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey.

• 1:02:38Speaker 03

Who's that creature in the ginger beard? It's sturdy and ginger. Like feathers, the ginger gene is a curse.

• 1:02:44Speaker 07

Gingers are beautiful. You owe me $5 for the whiskey and $75 for the horse. Gingers, oh hell no. This whiskey is excellent.

• 1:02:53Speaker 03

  Ginger. I like gingers.
