• 0:01Chris Williamson?

Hi there. This week, it's another Life Hacks episode. Jonny and Yusef from Propane Fitness are joining me as we originally intended to do a podcast about relationships and we didn't even get around to the topic. So after an hour of us all chatting shit, we decided to just do a Life Hacks episode. Relationships will be coming up and I might actually, if enough people are interested, I might just post the hour and a bit of what we ended up talking about because it was actually pretty funny, undirectional, but quite interesting. Coming up soon, I've got Corey Allen from the Astral Hustle podcast, also the creator of Release Into Now, which is my

• 0:46Chris Williamson?

favourite guided meditation. I'm actually sitting down with him tomorrow and I'm going to be going through from beginning to developing your practice and meditation, how mindfulness can be for everybody. I'm also sitting down with Quinn Hennec from Juggernaut Training Systems to go through some mobility myths and work out, to try and cut through some of the bullshit about what mobility, stability and flexibility mean in a performance perspective. And I've managed to get Johann Hari, author of Lost Connections, recently on Joe Rogan's podcast, and an absolute intellectual monster. I managed to get him to say yes to come on. So I can't wait to sit down

• 1:27Chris Williamson?

with these guys, feeling really fortunate. But before that, obviously, biggest guests that I could have, Jonny and Yusef from Propane Fitness. Let's go. Excellent. You could go there with your laptop. What makes me laugh about that continental place is the fact that it's the quietest bar in all of Newcastle. That's both in terms of customers and volume coming out of the speakers. Surprisingly quiet for customers. Yeah. And through the back is a room which is even more private and quiet. Yeah, that's, it's almost eerie. Why, what's this graveyard room at the back for? Whose idea was it to put this here? Why is it still here? Yeah. How is this place?

• 2:10Chris Williamson?

Why are the desks laid out like a 1940s exam hall? And why do they only hire Spanish people?

• 2:15Speaker 01

  Um.

• 2:16Chris Williamson?

It's quite cold continental, isn't it?

• 2:18Speaker 01

So it has, they have to make it authentic, but they give you little bits of steak or whatever.

• 2:21Chris Williamson?

I don't mind. I've never had bits of steak. I just have things that kill him.

• 2:25Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, peanuts. They give you like little meatballs, often pork or peanuts, actually, so.

• 2:31Chris Williamson?

Okay, so they're either sacrilege or fatal. Yeah. To people in our friendship.

• 2:36Speaker 01

  They're kufar, aren't they?

• 2:37Chris Williamson?

They're kufar. Anyway, life hacks. We're gonna do life hacks one of three.

• 2:45Chris Williamson?

Johnny is delirious after a day of playing golf.

• 2:49Speaker 01

  Life hacks, one of three.

• 3:04Chris Williamson?

Would you believe, would you believe that of all of the things that you do, all of the things that you put your body through? Um. It's twenty five to eleven and you're wrecked off swinging, swinging around. I mean, what's, what's a golf club weighing? Oh, that's not hard. Three kilos? It's the walking. Yeah. It was the liss? It is, it is the liss. It's the nepa, the nep.

• 3:29Speaker 01

So many terms for it. You saw the guy in the news recently who was given pregabalin for pain and claimed that it made him gay.

• 3:38Speaker 01

And then his dad stepped into the newspapers and said, he's always liked boys, so.

• 3:44Chris Williamson?

What's pregabalin? Yeah, well, it's pregabulin.

• 3:47Speaker 01

Just a painkiller for neuropathic pain, but like, it, I mean, it definitely is not listed on the side effects that it makes you gay. There is that, there is no question that, well, unless he is the first recorded case of it. But then I love how his dad's like, no, no, no, guys, calm down.

• 4:02Chris Williamson?

Come on, mate, stop losing your own.

• 4:03Speaker 01

  He's always like, boys.

• 4:04Chris Williamson?

Gavin, you'd have laughed around all week.

• 4:07Speaker 01

  Shut up, dad.

• 4:08Chris Williamson?

He doesn't even know, dad. Oh, man. Gay, yeah. On the topic of, uh, people being scared straight or scared gay, we did Mrs. Empress this week, where two of our event managers dressed up as women for charity, men's prostate cancer, raised money for that. Um, mental amount of money raised, like five grand raised in the night.

• 4:27Speaker 01

  Great.

• 4:27Chris Williamson?

Awesome. Um, and we've got a guy who works for us who's gay. And upon seeing one of our event managers come out dressed as a woman, he said that he'd been scared straight.

• 4:42Chris Williamson?

Said, I don't like boys anymore.

• 4:45Jonny?

  Change your mind.

• 4:46Chris Williamson?

So you know the, all these pray the gay way camps in America? You don't need them, scare them straight.

• 4:52Jonny?

  Pray the gay way.

• 4:53Chris Williamson?

  You've not seen these?

• 4:54Jonny?

  No.

• 4:55Speaker 01

The, the priests that are clearly gay themselves, but they're, but they're.

• 4:58Chris Williamson?

  They're just projecting, they're projecting.

• 5:00Speaker 01

I protect the power of Jesus to make you straight to mad women like the norm is like, they're all Bill Cosby as well, so.

• 5:09Chris Williamson?

No, I watched last night, I watched a, um, an episode of Family Guy where Lauren Conrad from the Hills is on it. And she says, we've, uh, it's all part of a big publicity stunt at the moment. They're actually CGIing a sex tape of me and Bill Cosby. And it's Bill Cosby like undressing, we are gonna do the ziggy ziggy ziggy ziggy zig. Like, two years later, that could not be any more inappropriate.

• 5:36Jonny?

  Hmm, CGIing, uh.

• 5:38Chris Williamson?

So she said that they were CGIing a sex tape of her and him, but this is before all of the shit came out about Bill Cosby. It's so.

• 5:45Speaker 01

Apparently that's gonna become a thing soon that we're, we're not gonna be able to use video evidence as a, um. Yeah.

• 5:53Jonny?

There was a thing that I saw, must be, it'll be on Facebook, it'll be fake news probably.

• 5:58Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 5:58Jonny?

  But they.

• 5:59Chris Williamson?

  It'll be zuck.

• 6:00Jonny?

There was a guy, there was a video of Barack Obama speaking, saying like really weird shit, he was like, uh, Donald Trump is a clearly a moron.

• 6:09Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 6:09Jonny?

And then it splits the screen and it's got the guy who's actually doing the voice.

• 6:13Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 6:14Jonny?

And he's completely, completely CGI'd Obama and you're like, that is fucking mental.

• 6:20Chris Williamson?

Sam Harris touches on that, right? With the Ham Sarris thing, like the, the.

• 6:24Speaker 01

  Yeah, he does.

• 6:25Jonny?

He's made a version of me on the internet.

• 6:28Chris Williamson?

So I completely support it. Hmm, there's a little bit of your voice that says you don't support it, Ham.

• 6:34Speaker 01

He made a kind of humorous version of my, uh, and but, but it's clearly.

• 6:38Jonny?

  That's a very good impression.

• 6:39Speaker 01

Ridiculous, but he do, well, it's not, it's not.

• 6:41Chris Williamson?

Slow, it's too fast. That's because you listen to him at one and a half times.

• 6:46Speaker 01

It's not in fully formed prose enough, like he, he's just so, it's as if.

• 6:50Jonny?

So beginning the podcast, then I'm gonna talk about something very boring for a very long time.

• 6:55Chris Williamson?

  That's good.

• 6:56Speaker 01

  Start with some housekeeping.

• 6:59Speaker 01

  To the Sam Harris podcast.

• 7:02Chris Williamson?

Sam Harris. Right, life hacks, one of three. First one, I've got, I've been collecting these. So I've been writing some in on a daily basis. We've had the ones that were like apps and stuff so far. What I've been doing is I've been using like a note as a like a life hack diary of stuff that I do and I think. Need to go back to the podcast. So first one I've got, unfollow the people that you hate from social media. And both of you are.

• 7:28Chris Williamson?

Culprits of not doing this. And I'm not going to name the plethora of people.

• 7:33Jonny?

  Yeah, it's interesting.

• 7:35Chris Williamson?

  If, so the thing is.

• 7:37Speaker 01

I think they get a lot of pleasure out of following the people that, is it even hate or is it just like car crash?

• 7:44Jonny?

  It's, it's. It's sort of this entertainment.

• 7:46Chris Williamson?

But it's, but it's not because you come away from it a lot of the time, indignant.

• 7:51Jonny?

True. It was David's analysis of it, of like, she's got.

• 7:56Speaker 01

  She's passing off.

• 7:57Jonny?

She's got the gall to put to the scene that she's passing off, what is it?

• 8:02Speaker 01

She's, she's passing off what is offensively obvious as wisdom. And she's got the arrogance to be like, yeah.

• 8:12Chris Williamson?

Yeah, it's unfollow the people that you hate. Like, you could, especially on Facebook, you don't need to unfriend them.

• 8:18Jonny?

  You can just unfollow.

• 8:19Chris Williamson?

  Unfollow.

• 8:19Jonny?

Go onto the profile as well.

• 8:21Chris Williamson?

Yeah, follow them for thirty days.

• 8:22Jonny?

  The break.

• 8:23Chris Williamson?

Um, so go onto the profile, click on, click on friends, click on unfollow, you'll never have to see the stuff again. And that is, for want of a better term, if you're not, if someone's not in the same city as you, unfollowing someone on Facebook is tantamount to them dying.

• 8:40Chris Williamson?

Never gonna see them again. Never gonna see them again. Unless they comment on something that you comment on as well.

• 8:47Chris Williamson?

Unfollowing people on Instagram is a little bit more tricky because every time that I think about it for ages and then eventually decide to do it. I do it to the tiny minority of people who have these fucking unfollow checkers set.

• 9:01Jonny?

  Oh. Uh, me?

• 9:03Chris Williamson?

  Me? Um.

• 9:06Jonny?

What they message you, why did you unfollow me?

• 9:09Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 9:09Jonny?

  Or why do you care?

• 9:10Chris Williamson?

Yeah. I got, I, it's, I've, I've had like, it's happened three times in the last year.

• 9:15Jonny?

  Really?

• 9:16Speaker 01

I mean, that's lame, like you've called, and you've called them out on it now, which is great, but like, to get the hint if someone unfollows you and you, and you've got something to check that as well.

• 9:24Chris Williamson?

  But you shouldn't.

• 9:24Speaker 01

  Just take it gracefully.

• 9:25Chris Williamson?

You shouldn't, you shouldn't follow the people that you hate. Like, I know, uh, there's definitely a cathartic pleasure from watching the car crash of someone else's life. Go on, for someone who you kind of love to watch what they're doing, but you also kind of don't at the same time. It nets a negative. Bottom line is it nets a negative.

• 9:43Speaker 01

  You are right.

• 9:43Chris Williamson?

We are in, we are in the midst of battling against phone use, like, talk about the medium that you, that you're doing it through.

• 9:53Speaker 01

It's, yeah, it's very much a guilty pleasure that I like, that I love following car crash basic bitches. And seeing that, you're right, like there, it's a net negative thing.

• 10:02Chris Williamson?

  Mm hmm.

• 10:03Speaker 01

There's no enrichment of my life.

• 10:06Jonny?

So I think it nets a positive. I know I always do this. I'm like, I'm the Jeremy Clarkson of these discussions.

• 10:16Speaker 01

I suppose it has to, otherwise we wouldn't continue doing it.

• 10:18Chris Williamson?

I disagree. It's bad for you all the time.

• 10:20Jonny?

It's the Byron Katie approach to it.

• 10:23Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 10:24Jonny?

You know, Byron, you know, the book I was gonna give you, that I never gave you.

• 10:27Chris Williamson?

This one that you said changed your life and that you never told me about until I asked you.

• 10:31Jonny?

  Yeah, that one.

• 10:31Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 10:32Jonny?

Um, so here our argument is, is that anything, well, Yusuf knows this far more, in a far more deal than I do, but things that bother you are a chance to investigate why it bothers you.

• 10:47Chris Williamson?

  Hmm.

• 10:47Jonny?

And try and uncover a deeper, because most of the time, like, stuff, like realistically, something that someone is doing over social media.

• 10:54Chris Williamson?

  Hmm.

• 10:54Jonny?

Like, yes, it bothers you. Like, it might be because they're. Really stupid or basic or like have said something you don't agree with, but that is usually just something internal with you. And it's a, it is a chance I find to like, that's really fucked me off. Why has that really fucked me off? And you always see some, another side of it from going through her process.

• 11:18Chris Williamson?

But that is like taking LSD, going on a trip, seeing the other side of it.

• 11:23Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 11:24Chris Williamson?

Going, interesting introspective experience that I really should go away and reflect on what's going on.

• 11:30Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 11:31Chris Williamson?

And then every day for the rest of your life, just taking more LSD, going back to the same place with the same person.

• 11:37Jonny?

I see what you mean. So I think the point is, is that you get exposed to annoying things anyway.

• 11:42Chris Williamson?

  Hmm.

• 11:43Jonny?

And like, social media is just a.

• 11:45Chris Williamson?

Would you elect to do that?

• 11:47Jonny?

So I think if you can get to the point where it bothers you less, then great.

• 11:52Chris Williamson?

Cool. So until, up until the point at which it plateaus, we've managed to try and come up with a way to use following annoying people online. For a source of personal development, which is definitely flipping, flipping a negative on its head.

• 12:03Jonny?

I, I think if, if something bothers you and it's someone else doing something, it's probably you, not them, more than likely.

• 12:10Chris Williamson?

  It's them. They're knobs.

• 12:11Jonny?

  Yusuf, what do you think?

• 12:13Chris Williamson?

Are they knobs? I think they are.

• 12:15Jonny?

Cause what, but why do you think they're knobs?

• 12:18Chris Williamson?

Cause they are. They're past shit.

• 12:20Jonny?

But it is because they're doing something that.

• 12:22Chris Williamson?

  Triggers me.

• 12:23Jonny?

  There's a friction.

• 12:24Chris Williamson?

They're posting something that triggers me.

• 12:26Speaker 01

There's something to be said for like, if something triggers you, it is potentially a pointer to something in yourself. I don't know whether it applies a hundred percent of the time because I could think of things that would. Like you, you can think of things that would trigger you, but would don't have any kind of deeper truth. They're just.

• 12:44Chris Williamson?

Yeah, yeah, that's true. Getting caught, getting caught, getting caught up in traffic.

• 12:48Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 12:48Chris Williamson?

Is annoying for the sake of it occurring.

• 12:51Speaker 01

Yeah. I don't think it reveals much about you.

• 12:55Chris Williamson?

  No.

• 12:55Speaker 01

  In a.

• 12:55Chris Williamson?

  True percent.

• 12:56Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 12:57Chris Williamson?

  Right.

• 12:57Jonny?

Well, it it shows that you have a belief that I shouldn't get caught up in traffic.

• 13:01Chris Williamson?

  Uh huh.

• 13:01Jonny?

Which is false because you you do get caught up in traffic.

• 13:03Chris Williamson?

Uh, there's a, there's an interesting one about why we're so angry about um in cars. It's because of a heightened sense of awareness, because we're not used to going at that speed, even at slow speed. Exactly.

• 13:12Speaker 01

Yeah, it's always that. It's always like, look, if you're you're not paying attention.

• 13:17Chris Williamson?

  We know the people die.

• 13:18Speaker 01

  Both.

• 13:18Chris Williamson?

Yeah, we know the people die in cars, that's why. Um, Yusef, have you got one?

• 13:21Speaker 01

So I can't remember if I mentioned this last time, but this ties into the capture process that I think you have to always have. So with the, you know, twenty years ago, it would be carrying a notebook in your pocket, in your pockets and every.

• 13:35Chris Williamson?

  File of facts.

• 13:36Speaker 01

File of facts. And if something comes into your awareness that needs to either be actioned or looked up or noted down or an insight or something, it would go down in the notebook. And when you get home, you would then put into, put it into your process, which is like you look through your notebook at the end of the day, you'd be like, right, I've got these things. They need, these need to be either put into the action list or whatever. And so for me, Toby, which is a browser extension for Chrome, allows me to quickly organise anything. So if someone sends me an article that I need to read, or there's a video that comes up that I should watch at some point or whatever, and I can't action it right away. I can create separate queues of reading queue, listening queue, and then frequently visited.

• 14:18Chris Williamson?

  Hmm.

• 14:18Speaker 01

Thing. And then you can sub split those into like, for me, for example, it would be medicine, study, um. Propane or or uh business stuff and then work that needs to be done.

• 14:29Chris Williamson?

  Hmm.

• 14:30Speaker 01

And so having that as a capture means that you no longer lose out on, um, someone sends you an article and you're like, oh yeah, I'll read that later.

• 14:39Chris Williamson?

It's a very cleverly, it's a very cleverly put together bookmarks manager, isn't it?

• 14:42Speaker 01

  It's great.

• 14:43Chris Williamson?

Uh, we did, we did actually bring this up on the last one. However.

• 14:46Speaker 01

  Uh.

• 14:47Chris Williamson?

You've done, uh, you've come out from a different angle, which I think was worthwhile.

• 14:50Speaker 01

I think so, because there's, um, you know, you you you can try and capture it at the point of, at the point it comes in. But then you have no control over whether someone sends you a WhatsApp or a text message or whatever.

• 15:01Chris Williamson?

You're speaking about this a little bit in the way that a tenth Dan Black Belt would talk about punching someone in the face.

• 15:11Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 15:14Chris Williamson?

I do think, I do think that you're totally right, that you need to, we are stressed by having too much stuff that we need to remember. Our brains are built for processing information, not remembering information, right?

• 15:26Speaker 01

  Exactly.

• 15:27Chris Williamson?

  Decision making, not retention.

• 15:30Jonny?

It's built for having thoughts and holding them.

• 15:32Speaker 01

So there's a couple of layers there, and one of them is the decision that you, you sit down, you open a new tab, be like, right, I want to read something. If you have to make a decision every time, or run through, obviously you can't mark your iMessages as unread, for example, or whatever.

• 15:47Chris Williamson?

  Such an annoying, why?

• 15:48Speaker 01

It's a very annoying feature, yeah. So you have to then be like, right, I need to, I need to read something. Oh, there was that thing that Chris sent me a couple of weeks ago.

• 15:56Chris Williamson?

  Scroll back.

• 15:56Speaker 01

Whereas instead, if you have the reading queue, you just pick the first thing in that queue, the decision's made for you.

• 16:01Chris Williamson?

One of the problems is that a lot of, like eighty-five percent of people's browsing is now done on mobile and you can't get Toby for mobile. So you've got to be on, you've got to be on laptop. It's good for you guys who.

• 16:09Speaker 01

Mobile, you can get Pocket, which is similar, but that's just for reading. Um, Evernote, I suppose as well, but.

• 16:16Chris Williamson?

  Bit different, isn't it?

• 16:17Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, to be honest, I, I think mobile browsing is an absolute fool's game.

• 16:27Chris Williamson?

Eighty-five percent of you who are listening, right?

• 16:30Speaker 01

  Fools.

• 16:30Chris Williamson?

Just don't know what you're on about.

• 16:31Jonny?

I don't think I read, I don't think I would ever just sit and browse. I just normally listen, I listen to stuff.

• 16:39Chris Williamson?

Right, have you got one, Johnny?

• 16:41Jonny?

  Um.

• 16:42Chris Williamson?

If you don't have one, I've got one.

• 16:44Jonny?

I could do one that I've been experimenting with recently, it's more of like a.

• 16:48Chris Williamson?

  Is it now, Fab?

• 16:49Jonny?

No. And this is something that I speak to a lot of clients about who struggle with just training, getting the training in. I think it's the case with trying to do anything that you want to do consistently. So used to train four days a week, done that like for as long as I can remember. Started finding that um I have a particularly hard session or like schedule would be slightly different and I just go I'll train tomorrow. And then it gets to Friday and you realise that you've got to train.

• 17:21Chris Williamson?

  Four days of training.

• 17:22Jonny?

Yeah, you want to train Friday, Saturday, Sunday and you're like, right, well, that's going to wreck me. And I was starting to get niggles and so I was just like, right, I'm just going to try and train six days a week, say the same volume, shorter sessions and just part of my morning is get up, do morning routine stuff, go to the gym, start work after that. And doing that has been really positive so far.

• 17:46Chris Williamson?

So what's, what's, what's the main change that volume stayed the same but spread across more sessions?

• 17:51Jonny?

Yeah, so, so short, shorter sessions, so there's less of a, there's less of a barrier to like, oh my God, I'm going to be in the gym for two hours. Each of the sessions are therefore easier.

• 18:01Chris Williamson?

  Slightly lower impact.

• 18:02Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 18:02Chris Williamson?

You've had, I'm presuming you've had to get your coach to adapt to.

• 18:05Jonny?

  Sign it off, yeah.

• 18:06Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, the program.

• 18:07Jonny?

So he, I think he has probably upped the volume ever so slightly, there's a few more assistance exercises.

• 18:12Chris Williamson?

It would be, it would be silly not to, right?

• 18:13Jonny?

Yeah, but it's just because before, like the other way that I operated anyway was tr- today's a training day or tomorrow's a training day, today's a rest day.

• 18:22Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 18:22Jonny?

  And your whole routine's different.

• 18:24Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 18:24Jonny?

For me anyway, like the time I start work and all sorts of stuff.

• 18:26Chris Williamson?

  Inherent um inconsistency.

• 18:30Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 18:30Chris Williamson?

To your daily routine, built into your daily routine.

• 18:32Jonny?

  Exactly.

• 18:33Chris Williamson?

Built into your by daily routine.

• 18:35Jonny?

And so just especially during the week, so I'll still, I'll still try and take Sunday off.

• 18:40Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 18:40Jonny?

If I can, but didn't today.

• 18:41Chris Williamson?

I quite like, I quite like a, a Sunday training session. It feels like an extra day that I'm getting in that I probably wouldn't have done.

• 18:49Jonny?

  Wouldn't, yeah.

• 18:49Chris Williamson?

And I can do like today I did ninety minutes, this wasn't a very fun day, I did ninety minutes of rehab and then bin myself on a what bike doing intervals for twenty minutes.

• 18:57Jonny?

  Bin yourself.

• 18:58Chris Williamson?

Bin. That's my new term for what I do in the gym.

• 19:02Jonny?

  Bin in yourself.

• 19:03Chris Williamson?

Absolutely did, I properly, fully wrecked myself. That's really interesting. I'd be, I'd be very interested to see what difference that has on stuff like your metabolism, like fat loss and stuff like that.

• 19:16Jonny?

Yeah, I think, and something else I've noticed is just like.

• 19:22Jonny?

Yep, y- y- you two maybe don't get it, but I I'll have days where sporadically I wake up and I just feel a bit more tired than normal. Like a bit mentally fuzzy.

• 19:29Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 19:30Jonny?

If you just go train, like you're pretty much like after a training session, I pretty much feel the same.

• 19:36Chris Williamson?

Today, today was a perfect example of that. So last night, I've travelled around loads this week, like twenty to thirty hours of travelling I've done this week. Last night, went to Manchester at nine o'clock, got in at six A M, got up at twelve midday, really groggy, but was like, right. Usually on a weekend, I kind of let my my routine slip a little bit because it allows me to come back on a Monday with a bit of set of fresh eyes.

• 19:57Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 19:58Chris Williamson?

Didn't do it, treat it today like a Monday. Go up, journal, meditate, Romwood, cook, go to the gym. And by the time I'd been myself on a what bike doing a really, really horrible um interval workout. I came out the gym and there was a sense of not only a sense of euphoria for it that you naturally get, the dopamine kick that you get from sort of training. But it was glazed with this extra sense that I'd done it under a particularly high level of fatigue. And I'd overcome a bunch of stuff that I probably wouldn't have done. Usually there was an extra, an extra level of. Glaze, I'm like that.

• 20:37Chris Williamson?

Yeah, it was, it was a veneer of of just extra little achievement of niceness. It was quite nice.

• 20:44Jonny?

It was, because it was, it was two people really. It was something that you said about if you're having a bad. If you feel like you're having a bad day, like you can't be bothered or whatever, like if you go, if you go train, you've kind of set the wheels in motion of like. I've already ticked off something positive.

• 21:00Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 21:01Jonny?

  And there's just, it's such a like a.

• 21:05Jonny?

Cringy thing to say, but there's something about like sweating or doing something physical on a daily basis, you can feel.

• 21:12Chris Williamson?

  It's such a reset.

• 21:13Jonny?

  Better by yourself.

• 21:14Chris Williamson?

The I would, I would go as far as to say that going to the gym and training is as much of a reset for what has happened before then.

• 21:22Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 21:23Chris Williamson?

As going to bed, as going to bed is.

• 21:25Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 21:25Chris Williamson?

  Uh, yeah, massively.

• 21:26Jonny?

  Yeah, definitely.

• 21:27Chris Williamson?

I can, I can wake up on a morning with, especially now I've been meditating more recently and practising a bit more mindfulness. I find that my emotions from the night before, my thoughts from the night before carry over through my sleep.

• 21:39Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 21:39Chris Williamson?

Um, on average, I only sleep six and a half hours a night, so that might be, that might contribute a little bit, but I find that they carry over a lot. If I go into the gym.

• 21:47Speaker 01

You can go in with a terrible mood and come out.

• 21:49Chris Williamson?

Come out and it's as as much of a difference between before and after as if as if I was sleeping.

• 21:53Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 21:54Chris Williamson?

Um. So, yeah, that was it's an interesting.

• 21:56Jonny?

This is that and the most consistent person I know with training is digital audio broadcast Gibson. So he trains.

• 22:05Chris Williamson?

  D.

• 22:05Jonny?

D A B Gibson. He trained, he just trains six days a week. Like I I I do his programming for him and he trains six A M. Monday to Friday. He trains six A M. Monday to Thursday, has Friday off, trains Saturday, Sunday. And he very, very rarely, unless he's travelling.

• 22:23Chris Williamson?

  Hmm.

• 22:23Jonny?

  Very rarely he's given a session. He's like by nine A M. I've trained.

• 22:27Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 22:27Jonny?

And then like the the people who try and fit it in in their day later.

• 22:31Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 22:31Jonny?

  And anything can happen.

• 22:32Speaker 01

It becomes increasingly hard. As as we were saying with meditation.

• 22:35Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 22:36Speaker 01

The more you try and convince yourself that you can skip your morning session and do it later on in the day. The less and less likely it is that you're going to complete it.

• 22:44Jonny?

  Yep.

• 22:44Speaker 01

Until it's midnight and you're like, ah.

• 22:46Chris Williamson?

The other thing, the other thing to consider as well is that once it's done, the anxiety of having to do it is gone for the rest of the day.

• 22:52Speaker 01

  That's a huge factor. Ironically, that's like.

• 22:55Chris Williamson?

That's the, that's the main reason that I meditate on a morning. Because I know that for the rest of the day, I don't need to think I need to meditate still.

• 23:01Jonny?

Don't you feel like, I think for me, there's a, there's a sense of like. I've, I've, I've kind of won that side of my life, like I've.

• 23:09Chris Williamson?

Oh, yeah. The box, the box has been ticked. That's one already. That was another reason why the sobriety, the six month sobriety thing for me was such a key stone.

• 23:17Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 23:18Chris Williamson?

  When I did it.

• 23:18Jonny?

  Because it facilitated that.

• 23:19Chris Williamson?

Yeah, for sure, because it meant that I could overcome, right, already, I've already conquered this. What's next? What's coming next on the list? So, yeah, it was.

• 23:29Jonny?

And it just, it's so nice to get to like, if I get to like half nine or ten A M. And I've done like. Meditated, wrong word, all that stuff, and I've trained. And it's like, that's like me out the way, like now I can just work and I don't have to worry about anything else. And when I finish work, I'm done, like absolutely done.

• 23:49Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 23:49Jonny?

  And you just feel.

• 23:50Chris Williamson?

And the thing is as well, especially for me, your training probably wouldn't permit this because with powerlifting, you need to give yourself more time to rest. A little bit more taxing, I guess physiologically. But for me, if I do that, and I think, right, six o'clock, what do I want to do? Fancy another session? I'm gonna go back in, I'm gonna do extra programming, I'm gonna do workout, I'm gonna do bodybuilding, so I'll work out after I crossed it this morning, I'm gonna go and do some technique work. I'm gonna do that.

• 24:15Jonny?

  It's bonus.

• 24:15Chris Williamson?

  Yeah. And you're like, fuck.

• 24:17Jonny?

  It's not catching up.

• 24:18Chris Williamson?

Yeah, you're not playing catch up, you're getting ahead, which is, yeah, it's a, there's a really good sense of satisfaction. I think a lot of people, you know, if there's anything that you need to do, like if it's fucking walking the dog, doing, you know, spending time reading with you with a kid. You know, if that's something that needs to be done.

• 24:38Jonny?

  Do it first.

• 24:38Chris Williamson?

  Crack it out.

• 24:39Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 24:39Chris Williamson?

Get it cracked out so that you know that the box has been ticked, because the rest of the day is yours then.

• 24:44Jonny?

Because then the rest of the day, you're not thinking, when am I going to be able to?

• 24:46Chris Williamson?

  That anxiety is so.

• 24:49Jonny?

It's, it's so interesting taking the same session. So if I do it, if I, if I try and train at like four, for example, or nine. If I train at nine, knowing like, I need to get to work, like I need to start work soon, what you're able to do in, like you immediately, your rest periods are less.

• 25:08Chris Williamson?

  Parkinson's.

• 25:08Jonny?

Immediately, yeah, you don't look at your phone, you're in, you're out, you're like, fuck, I did, I just trained in forty five minutes.

• 25:14Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 25:15Jonny?

Like normally piss around and takes ages. So, yeah, I used to, when I worked at KPMG, I did it all the time. Like I, I always trained in the morning, but I have such bad memories of it because it was six o'clock in the morning. And it was like.

• 25:28Chris Williamson?

  Before KPMG.

• 25:29Jonny?

Yeah, well, yeah. But it was, so it was that. And then I had to, I had to like, have like an hour long commute and it was always a really hard training as well.

• 25:37Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 25:38Jonny?

So, but a little bit later, go to drive to the gym, miss rush hour, train then, it's really big fun. Of course, not everyone can do that bit. Whereas I'm just taking the microphones, so sorry.

• 25:49Chris Williamson?

That's fine. Next one, Apple AirPods.

• 25:51Jonny?

Oh, God. That's so good. That's so good. You know, audio broadcast supports them.

• 25:58Chris Williamson?

  I see.

• 25:59Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 25:59Chris Williamson?

  Digital.

• 25:59Jonny?

  For his audio broadcast, yeah.

• 26:02Chris Williamson?

  So, they are.

• 26:06Chris Williamson?

Without a doubt that you you said this before, single biggest change in quality of life was something that you came up with for one of your last life hacks. Apple AirPods for me are from upon purchase, quality of life instantly increases on aggregate by five to 10% every day and upon using them by 50%.

• 26:27Jonny?

  Even just by owning them.

• 26:29Chris Williamson?

  By having them looking.

• 26:30Jonny?

It's how nice they are and so do you know what makes them is the Little pack of dental flowers. It's the little things about them. But I'm not small lips.

• 26:37Chris Williamson?

So it's just everyone use, everyone needs a pair of headphones. Um, if you're not, if you're not on iPhone, I don't know how they will link up with.

• 26:46Jonny?

  I don't think they can.

• 26:48Chris Williamson?

But they're just Bluetooth headphones, right? So they must.

• 26:49Jonny?

Do they not have something in them? Because wasn't that one of the criticisms of the HomePod?

• 26:54Chris Williamson?

  I'm not sure.

• 26:54Jonny?

  Because it was a chip.

• 26:56Chris Williamson?

  I wouldn't, I wouldn't be able to.

• 26:57Jonny?

Maybe that, maybe they do work.

• 26:58Chris Williamson?

I wouldn't be able to elaborate. Anyway, if you, if you are someone who uses your headphones ever, you should buy a pair of AirPods. So they come in a case, the little case is an external charger for the earbuds. The buds get four hours charge out of about 15 minute um dock in the external charger. And the external charger has about three full charges of the buds.

• 27:23Jonny?

  Yep.

• 27:24Chris Williamson?

The charger, the external case is plugged in with a lightning cable. So you only ever need to take one cable away when you're on holiday or when you're travelling. The one for your phone and the one for that. They link up with your phone instantly. You can programme a double tap on the earbud of the left to pause or from the right to skip to the next track. They've got inbuilt microphones at the bottom of the earbud so that you can use them for wireless, hands-free. They don't actually, I don't think they actually use Bluetooth for them either. I think it's a different kind of technology.

• 27:55Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 27:56Chris Williamson?

It's like NFC, is it? Near field communication, something like that?

• 27:59Jonny?

There's, there's something different about them.

• 28:01Chris Williamson?

So if you don't have, if you don't have a brick wall in between you, I've done it in Tyneside before and I can be 12 metres away. I can be on the opposite side of the hall and still have crystal clear communication from them.

• 28:11Jonny?

  I had that this morning.

• 28:12Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 28:12Jonny?

I was thinking about that this morning.

• 28:13Chris Williamson?

Just put them down wherever you want. Um. And yet, like, you you're walking around in the house, especially if you're taking phone calls and stuff like that. A phone call actually ends up stopping whatever else you're doing.

• 28:24Jonny?

  Um.

• 28:24Chris Williamson?

Whereas with these, you can have headphones in.

• 28:27Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 28:27Chris Williamson?

Do the washing up, do your cooking, they've got noise cancelling in, so the person on the other end hears just what you're saying. They are unbelievable. The one caveat for this is they're expensive. A hundred and sixty quid, hundred and forty.

• 28:38Jonny?

  Yeah, they are.

• 28:39Chris Williamson?

  They're expensive.

• 28:39Jonny?

  They are.

• 28:40Chris Williamson?

But they're worth it by so.

• 28:42Jonny?

So I I've had like Bose headphones and I've never had Beats. And they're kind of like the other competitor, aren't they?

• 28:48Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 28:49Jonny?

Um, other like cheaper headphones and nothing has come anywhere near. But it's it's not like, I think what what I don't feel like, I people turn off and they're like, oh, they're a hundred and sixty quid or whatever. But it's the, it's how effortless using them is. Take one out, pauses the music, put it back in again. So if you're listening to like a podcast, put it back in again, it recognizes that you paused it, jumps it back a second.

• 29:14Chris Williamson?

  Plays.

• 29:15Jonny?

  Plays it again.

• 29:15Chris Williamson?

  Presses play.

• 29:16Jonny?

I I get in the car. So if I I'm on the phone in the car, like phones on the Bluetooth of the car. Before I get out the car, AirPods out, put my AirPods in, phone's still in my pocket.

• 29:26Chris Williamson?

  Mm hmm.

• 29:26Jonny?

Get out the car. Somehow the AirPods realise, hold on, the phone's disconnected from the car, he wants the.

• 29:32Chris Williamson?

How about, how about this, how about this for you? So I get in my car and my car automatically picks them up. So I'm listening to a podcast in my earphones. Get into the car, start playing in the car.

• 29:40Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 29:41Chris Williamson?

Then all that I need to do is double tap the earbud and it'll flick back off the car and back into the earbuds. Unbelievable.

• 29:49Jonny?

It's because because what what someone at Apple has done is thought, what does, what are the daily situations? People with headphones face.

• 29:56Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 29:57Jonny?

Let's make AirPods good for that.

• 29:59Chris Williamson?

Yeah, they they are without a doubt absolutely fantastic.

• 30:02Jonny?

I I so I honestly think, I obviously like the return you get from a MacBook and an iPhone is way beyond that, but. In terms of like an accessory from Apple.

• 30:12Chris Williamson?

  Unbelievable.

• 30:12Jonny?

  It's, yeah.

• 30:13Chris Williamson?

Shit all over an Apple Watch. Absolutely shit all over.

• 30:16Jonny?

  Yeah, definitely. Well, it.

• 30:19Jonny?

They are, they're just so, so good. Jordan today was showing me, so I walked in with AirPods in and went over and like signed in and said hello. And he said like, is there anything playing in there? Were you just wearing, look trendy? I was like, I'm actually listening. But it is a problem when you're not listening to something.

• 30:38Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 30:38Jonny?

Like where to put them. And he was like, oh, I've put them behind your ears.

• 30:41Chris Williamson?

  That's what I do.

• 30:41Jonny?

  So I didn't realise.

• 30:43Chris Williamson?

I sit, I sit my buds on the top of my ears, yeah, with a wider bit behind. And that's it. And you can listen. As if he, as if Jordan's told you that. He gives me so much shit for putting it on top of my ears.

• 30:53Jonny?

  Really?

• 30:53Chris Williamson?

Little bastard. Anyway, AirPods, you should buy them.

• 30:57Speaker 01

How do you mean behind the ears?

• 30:58Chris Williamson?

So imagine that they sit on top of your ear, like you would with a cigarette.

• 31:02Speaker 01

  And they stay there?

• 31:04Jonny?

  They stay there, yeah.

• 31:04Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, they're wedged in.

• 31:05Jonny?

Have you tried using the AirPods case as an iPhone holder?

• 31:10Speaker 01

  It's very precarious.

• 31:11Jonny?

It is. So if you Google it, there's examples of people doing it. So like, if you found yourself on a train or a plane, you wanna watch them on your phone, partially open the AirPods case, sit your phone in it, and it does like go, sits back, and then you've got your AirPods in.

• 31:28Chris Williamson?

  No way.

• 31:30Jonny?

So there was a guy using it, doing it in a cafe. This was before I owned any. And like, they came out and I was like, oh, shit, they're stupid.

• 31:37Chris Williamson?

They look like you've got two Oral-B toothbrushes in your ears.

• 31:40Jonny?

Exactly, yeah. And you sat eating with his phone in the corner of the thing, in the AirPods case with his AirPods in. I was like, that looks so cool.

• 31:47Chris Williamson?

  Fucking baller.

• 31:48Jonny?

And he, he had an iPad Mini as well. I was like, that man likes Apple stuff.

• 31:54Speaker 01

I'm gonna start wearing Oral-B toothbrush heads over my ears to try and like fit in with the, the Pov version.

• 32:02Jonny?

They are, they're just so, they're so prohibitively expensive.

• 32:05Speaker 01

But you're right, like the, I, I thought that was a good chance for me to go to the toilet, because I don't have nothing to contribute about AirPods, because I don't have them. But the, the hands-free calls alone, I think, would sell me on them.

• 32:17Chris Williamson?

Unbelievable. And do you know what's even cooler that you guys did the other day? That I'd never even thought of. Like, so the, um, on the propane Instagram, there was a multiple stories, basically like a kind of a video podcast, I guess, like a two-minute, three-minute video podcast split up into the 15-second stories.

• 32:36Jonny?

So it was a? Facebook Live.

• 32:38Chris Williamson?

  The Johnny painstakingly.

• 32:40Jonny?

  Takes ages.

• 32:41Chris Williamson?

  Cut.

• 32:41Jonny?

It's an app called Cut Story.

• 32:43Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 32:43Jonny?

That divides it, then you have to individually upload them.

• 32:45Chris Williamson?

Okay. And they were walking down the street and one had the left and one had the right. And the sound quality is matched from both.

• 32:54Jonny?

  So cool.

• 32:55Chris Williamson?

And it's just, it's sick. I honestly think if you were, if you're in a cafe and you needed, fuck, I've run into that Chris, uh, the um, trader guy, like just randomly you run into someone who you're desperate to think with.

• 33:07Jonny?

  Podcast.

• 33:07Chris Williamson?

  Right. Take this earbud.

• 33:09Jonny?

  Here's a microphone.

• 33:09Chris Williamson?

Press record, press record on the, on the thing and you could, you'd have it.

• 33:12Jonny?

Can I, like loads of conference calls, like you wanna speak, like two people wanna have the same phone call.

• 33:17Chris Williamson?

Yeah. Right, Eze, have you got one?

• 33:20Speaker 01

Yeah, so this isn't a very sexy one, but I am currently dealing with a lot of companies, too many to keep track of, um, in terms of following up responses and so on. So what I do is I have a list on Wunderlist called Waiting For. And if I've sent out a request to these companies, maybe, maybe I've got ten or twelve on the go at one time, I just add it to that list and then I know that they're the people that I'm, I'm waiting for a response from.

• 33:46Chris Williamson?

  Okay.

• 33:46Speaker 01

Alternatively, you can do it all within Apple Mail. If you use Mail Butler or Follow Up Then, which is Johnny's preference, Mail Butler, um, allows you to tag an email as you send it. You tick a box on the email itself that says, remind me in two weeks. And it, it links, it adds a reminder into Apple Reminders, links to that particular sent email. And then cancels the reminder if you get a response to that email, which is fantastic.

• 34:12Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 34:13Speaker 01

  Um.

• 34:14Chris Williamson?

Again, what we're, what we're talking about is just capture, isn't it?

• 34:16Speaker 01

  Mm.

• 34:16Chris Williamson?

Just removal, it's just removal of having to remember stuff yourself. My reminders now are starting to back up so much because I'm using them so much.

• 34:24Speaker 01

  Well.

• 34:24Chris Williamson?

  All the time.

• 34:25Speaker 01

Cause I, I think, cause, cause I, I got criticised from my uncle who was like, Eze, you need to just rely on your memory more, stop being such a, a, a pussy with, with using, relying on calendars and things. It's like, that's fine for you to say, if you're retired and don't have anything, but like.

• 34:40Chris Williamson?

What to do is remember to get the cat out.

• 34:42Jonny?

Try doing a medical degree and running a company.

• 34:45Speaker 01

Well, you get to the point where it exceeds the capacity of your memory, or even if it doesn't, even if you have a internal system, it's gonna stress you out by having to maintain the open loops. Whereas if it's just completely out of your head, you know that I can just check the waiting. Oh yeah, I haven't heard back from N power yet. Okay, I'll chase them up. Yeah. So.

• 35:04Jonny?

There's two, I think, really important caveats with that. It's you need to practise the skill of capture, I think.

• 35:13Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 35:13Jonny?

And I think you need a time.

• 35:14Speaker 01

  You fall into immediately.

• 35:16Jonny?

Well, cause like everyone's had the experience where you sat doing something else and suddenly the thought of like, oh my God, I was meant to do two days ago, I was meant to do that.

• 35:26Speaker 01

  It's a horrible feeling.

• 35:27Jonny?

  Oh, awful.

• 35:28Speaker 01

  It's jarring. It's like falling.

• 35:30Jonny?

That's your brain going like, haha, dickhead. Like you didn't, you didn't process this at the time. Now look what's happened. So there's that, that side of it. So you need to practise it, but also if you just build up lists and you never have, you don't have like a time in the day where you look at them. Then it's also meaning that then when you look at your list three days later, you're like, oh, fuck.

• 35:52Speaker 01

I was gonna do my God, yeah.

• 35:53Jonny?

  You're like, well.

• 35:53Speaker 01

  Batch the page.

• 35:54Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 35:56Speaker 01

So all you've done is captured it and then you don't have a capture for the capture.

• 36:00Jonny?

Yeah, you just, you just pushed it somewhere else. You're like, oh, I'll look at it later. Something that a guy called, the guy that we were talking about earlier, Ari Mazel.

• 36:07Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 36:08Jonny?

Talks about to do lists or correctly managing your flow of things is about reminding yourself of the thing you need to do at the time you need to be reminded. So like, he's big on using email as inbox, as an inbox. So like, um, get sending yourself an email on Monday morning when you know that on Monday morning you need to do a thing, rather than write it on a list and hope on, hope on Monday morning you look at your, you look at the list. Cause I think.

• 36:34Speaker 01

Which is an argument for having notifications off on your phone, apart from the ones that you have.

• 36:39Jonny?

  Reminders kind of.

• 36:40Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 36:41Jonny?

The thing is, uh, maybe you two, I don't know. I think you've mentioned this before where like something pops up, like a notification, like a reminder pops up and you're like, shit, can't do it now, snooze. Or like, oh, just, just fuck off, just get, just get away.

• 36:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 36:56Jonny?

And then. It's not like, there's not, you haven't dealt with it, so it pops up again or.

• 37:03Chris Williamson?

Yeah, yeah, I've tried to stack the deck in my favour now, so I have as much in the reminder on,

• 37:11Chris Williamson?

on my iPhone and also on my laptop as possible. So if I need to follow a link or send an email to someone, it has the email address of the person in there.

• 37:21Speaker 01

Have you ever done the opposite where you absentmindedly create a reminder? I've done this to myself quite a few times now, where you get a reminder come up on your phone and it just says, Friday seven P M.

• 37:33Speaker 01

You're like, oh no, all I know now is that I have something important.

• 37:37Chris Williamson?

Or the anxiety just gets turned up to eleven, do you want me to turn it up to twelve? How about this? So I use Siri a lot to do reminders. And what I'll do is I'll set a reminder on, beep beep, on Friday, remind me to email Santander about my current account.

• 37:55Jonny?

  Mm hmm.

• 37:56Chris Williamson?

  Do do.

• 37:57Jonny?

  Okay.

• 37:57Chris Williamson?

I'll remind you on Friday, da da da da, right, brilliant, don't look at it, put it away. Reminder comes back up, Siri's bastardised my Middlesbrough accent to something which is completely incomprehensible.

• 38:10Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 38:10Chris Williamson?

Remember the donuts are frying in the kitchen or something and you're like, oh Siri, what is that?

• 38:19Speaker 01

That's happened so much as well.

• 38:20Jonny?

So Siri, Siri's great for when you're driving, I think.

• 38:25Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 38:26Jonny?

So there's a number of things that are key to me while I'm driving.

• 38:28Chris Williamson?

You know what it's great with?

• 38:30Jonny?

  What?

• 38:30Chris Williamson?

  Apple app, yeah.

• 38:33Jonny?

So yeah, like just saying, hey Siri.

• 38:37Jonny?

  Hey Siri.

• 38:43Chris Williamson?

  It's good, there we go.

• 38:44Jonny?

And then it just captures it and they'll be listening to what we're saying.

• 38:47Chris Williamson?

  Well, they'll listen.

• 38:48Jonny?

  No, it's okay, it's okay.

• 38:49Chris Williamson?

Zuckerberg's listening all the time, isn't he?

• 38:53Chris Williamson?

You stop, this is a three person podcast, not four. Have you got a male voice? I've got the female voice. But then I also don't have a girlfriend.

• 39:01Speaker 01

You can set it on South African accent.

• 39:02Jonny?

  Can you?

• 39:03Speaker 01

  No way.

• 39:04Jonny?

  Okay, I'll remind you.

• 39:05Speaker 01

I'll remind you. Semen with a bit of blood. Oh, blood with a bit of semen, it's a really important distinction.

• 39:15Chris Williamson?

  Johnny, have you got one?

• 39:17Jonny?

  Uh.

• 39:19Speaker 01

  Was it a normal master?

• 39:22Jonny?

I did have one, what was it?

• 39:29Jonny?

  Sidicron.

• 39:30Chris Williamson?

  Right, I've got one.

• 39:31Jonny?

You've seen that advert for Sidicron before? The first advert, have you seen Sidicron?

• 39:34Chris Williamson?

Pretty weird, there must be a.

• 39:36Jonny?

  Have I said?

• 39:39Jonny?

  Oh, got it.

• 39:40Chris Williamson?

  Yep.

• 39:41Jonny?

  Have I, have I mentioned Pomodoro's?

• 39:43Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 39:44Jonny?

  Before?

• 39:44Chris Williamson?

Um, yeah, but you can, if you, if you can wrap them in a different twist.

• 39:49Jonny?

So Focus Me Pro, it's a Mac app, might be an iPhone app as well. Um, so the problem, right, so Pomodoro's.

• 39:59Chris Williamson?

Or have you got one called Focus Me?

• 40:00Jonny?

Oh, I don't know. It's the one I recommended to you, just the same one.

• 40:03Chris Williamson?

Okay. The one I. You've got, you've got a pro version, which means you have to pay for it.

• 40:06Jonny?

  It's a one off.

• 40:07Chris Williamson?

Which means that he definitely hasn't. Uh, yeah, I've, I've got Be Focused Free.

• 40:11Jonny?

  Right.

• 40:12Chris Williamson?

  Light.

• 40:13Jonny?

Light. Has all the ads on and stuff like that.

• 40:16Chris Williamson?

  Watermarks, you remind us.

• 40:19Jonny?

Pomodoro's is, uh, is twenty five minutes of work followed by five minutes break. And the idea is, like, to prevent you from procrastinating, like, at the start of the twenty five minutes, you're like, I'm going to do this for twenty five minutes and I'm going to challenge myself, see if I can do it for twenty five minutes.

• 40:39Chris Williamson?

  It's just twenty five minutes?

• 40:41Jonny?

Like, it can't be that hard. It's really difficult to do. Um, so you try and manage your distractions. So it's twenty five minutes of, like, purely just doing whatever, it doesn't matter what it is. Five minutes of total disconnection. And then you do that four times, then you get a longer break. So that's, that's how the Pomodoro setup works.

• 40:58Chris Williamson?

It's a bit Cal Newport, that, isn't it?

• 41:00Jonny?

Yeah, it's, it's practising deep work. It's practising getting better at, like, just focusing on one thing. There's loads of case studies of people using it and talk about how I used to work a sixty hour work week and now I do eight Pomodoro's a day because I've become better at.

• 41:15Chris Williamson?

  But Parkinson's Law is.

• 41:16Jonny?

Yeah, so, so having, the power of having a deadline and the power of having, like, a, a timer counting down. You know, I've got to finish this one thing in this time. So I've, I've tried doing it on and off for ages. Always found that, like, apps are pretty, like, clunky or annoying or, like, you forget to set it on your phone or whatever. The app for the, whatever it's called, Focus Me or Be Focused or whatever, is really simple, like, quite unintrusive. You just start it at the start of the day and it just runs your Pomodoro's for you and just goes. Beep beep beep. Um.

• 41:50Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 41:52Jonny?

Um, and then it also, it just shows, I love graphs and shit, as you've probably noticed. It shows you, so you keep a to do list, or you keep a list of all the things you would normally do at any, any time. So like, start the day, open, click on the app, li- long list of things, like what I'm gonna do, all right, that one, press play. Starts Pomodoro and then tracks it as when you wanna look at like, how am I spending my time? Gives you a pie chart of how your time is spent, and then gives you a bar chart of how many Pomodoro's you do a day. So you're like, was it a productive week? And you think, well, I don't know, probably, you know, here's how I spent my time, here's how many Pomodoro's I did.

• 42:32Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 42:32Jonny?

Which, and it's so like, I'm a big fan of things that just to fit bit. Like, I don't have to think about like, how is my sleep, or how generally active am I? It's just collecting it.

• 42:44Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 42:44Jonny?

And this is the same thing. So the Pomodoro technique and that app.

• 42:48Chris Williamson?

What, which one, which one's the one that you use, Johnny, can you remember?

• 42:52Jonny?

No. I thought it was Focus.

• 42:53Chris Williamson?

We'll put it, it'll be in, it'll be in the description.

• 42:55Jonny?

  It's something pro.

• 42:57Chris Williamson?

  Uh, right.

• 42:58Speaker 01

It probably is be focused pro, cause there is a.

• 43:02Jonny?

  Focus me.

• 43:04Chris Williamson?

We'll find it, we'll find it.

• 43:05Jonny?

Send him CC this, I said, one, someone, so you should send someone else. You still have a template you can use.

• 43:13Chris Williamson?

Another one, which is probably a little bit more of a prohibitive, a prohibitive life hack. But it's one that I'm going to stick to for the rest of my life. Automatic cars.

• 43:25Speaker 01

Oh, so much. Oh my god, so I told you about Paul Knotts more talking about this?

• 43:31Chris Williamson?

  No.

• 43:32Speaker 01

So there's a guy, he's a bit of a Facebook personality, uh, Paul Turner, who, I was talking to him about this topic and he was like, oh yeah, people always say I'm fucking, I'm a fucking woman for driving an automatic. All right then, we'll take that to the extreme, or like, I'm gonna crank up the engine at the start and pump up my tyres every time and, and uh, s- spray water on the windscreen, you know, like, he's like, where does it stop? And you're like, yeah, totally agree, like, why is it that changing the gear on the transmission is somehow the manly thing to do?

• 44:02Chris Williamson?

Akin to being involved in the driving experience.

• 44:05Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 44:06Chris Williamson?

When someone will get out and go and buy a barista made coffee.

• 44:11Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 44:11Chris Williamson?

As they take the escalator and the lift to work.

• 44:14Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 44:16Chris Williamson?

  You are selecting.

• 44:18Speaker 01

As they're using if like an iPhone or like it's just. But it's fine because I changed gear manually. It's totally. Yeah. It's a it's it. I I had to drive a manual the other day and I realised how much of a ball ache it is when you go back to it. And it delays you like, because I I get really pissed off, like unreasonably annoyed. Sorry, Chris, I'm stealing your.

• 44:41Chris Williamson?

That's fine. We're all with. I know that. I know that we all agree. I might as well. We might as well have all said it.

• 44:45Speaker 01

I'm just very passionate about it. So like, I get re- unreasonably annoyed at people that take ages when the light goes green.

• 44:52Chris Williamson?

  Mm hmm.

• 44:52Speaker 01

I think it's incredibly inconsiderate to like, wait for the light to go green and then like slowly get you arsed into gear, literally, to to pull off.

• 45:00Chris Williamson?

  Mm hmm.

• 45:01Speaker 01

And then I realised that. What I was saying about like, okay, it's gone amber. Green. Right. Mirror. Mirror. Mirror. Okay. Handbrake. Neutral. Clutch. First gear. Biting. Bite, bite.

• 45:15Chris Williamson?

  Oh, stalled.

• 45:16Speaker 01

Amber. And then it's like that one person through. It's like, so it's really inconsiderate, but I realised that actually it takes two, three times as long.

• 45:25Chris Williamson?

  You need to be prepared.

• 45:27Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 45:27Chris Williamson?

You need to be fully prepared. You've got to be so much more. I suppose maybe there's there's an argument that you're a little bit more of a conscious driver and you're probably a little bit more alert. During driving manual.

• 45:37Speaker 01

  Mm hmm.

• 45:37Chris Williamson?

Just because you're more involved in the driving experience. You are more involved in the driving experience, but I will never ever go back to having a manual car, ever.

• 45:43Speaker 01

  Absolutely.

• 45:44Chris Williamson?

I would I would happily leave the love of my life.

• 45:49Chris Williamson?

If she demanded that we had to have a manual car.

• 45:53Jonny?

  So I've.

• 45:55Speaker 01

Just give her the car, be like, right, I'm getting my own car.

• 45:59Jonny?

Recent, recent change for me, getting an automatic.

• 46:02Speaker 01

Oh, your new one is massive. Great.

• 46:03Jonny?

  Yeah, massive, massive.

• 46:06Speaker 01

It feels like you're driving a little dodgem, doesn't it?

• 46:08Jonny?

Well, it just feels like I'm driving a machine rather like, whereas with a manual, it's like.

• 46:13Chris Williamson?

  Riding a bike.

• 46:14Speaker 01

It's such a weird pride ego thing that like, oh.

• 46:17Chris Williamson?

I don't think, I mean, I don't see that. I don't really see that argument so much online anymore. I just think it's people who maybe haven't listened to life hacks one or three and realised that they need to buy, you need to buy an automatic car tomorrow. If you have a manual car.

• 46:32Jonny?

  Go change it now.

• 46:34Chris Williamson?

  Trade it in.

• 46:35Speaker 01

It's the fact that cars are still making.

• 46:37Chris Williamson?

Who the fuck, who the fuck wants to, like, I, I don't, I don't know, because I don't buy new cars. Um, but there doesn't really seem to be much of a disparity. There's a disparity in the availability, but not a disparity in the price. So you can find an equal model, both manual and automatic.

• 46:52Speaker 01

So it's not like it's a, a premium luxury or something?

• 46:54Chris Williamson?

No, but there are fewer automatics around and there's certain cars that you cannot get if you want to have a Defender, which a lot of people do. The only way you'll get an automatic Defender is if someone's custom changed the transmission and the gearbox.

• 47:07Jonny?

Is that, presumably that's something to do with like.

• 47:10Speaker 01

  It's a four by four.

• 47:11Chris Williamson?

Off roading. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. Well, why, why would that be the case? Like the, and the, um, an automatic gearbox is going to be able to control the ratio of wheels a much more effectively than you can.

• 47:21Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 47:21Chris Williamson?

With your right foot. Um, but yeah, just buy, buy an automatic car.

• 47:26Speaker 01

It's more petrol efficient as well now. Didn't used to be.

• 47:29Chris Williamson?

  By distance.

• 47:29Speaker 01

  But yeah.

• 47:30Chris Williamson?

They'll change gear at the right, at the right. And if you want to go faster, I've just put your foot down.

• 47:34Speaker 01

There's usually a sport mode. Yeah. So.

• 47:36Chris Williamson?

Every car, every car's got a go slightly quicker mode when you're in an automatic, even if it's not.

• 47:41Speaker 01

  You've seen the Tesla mode.

• 47:43Chris Williamson?

  Ludicrous.

• 47:43Speaker 01

  Ludicrous.

• 47:44Chris Williamson?

  Ludicrous pack. I was in.

• 47:45Jonny?

Is that in the, the roadster?

• 47:48Chris Williamson?

No, it's in, it's in all of them. So it's in the P, the P one hundred D and well, the P ninety D.

• 47:53Jonny?

  Yeah, frightening.

• 47:54Chris Williamson?

  Ludicrous.

• 47:54Speaker 01

Your liver to be pressed against the back of your rib cage.

• 47:58Chris Williamson?

You should watch online the Tesla Model three, which is the family SUV one with the gullwing doors.

• 48:05Jonny?

  Mm hmm.

• 48:06Chris Williamson?

So they were trying to convey just.

• 48:07Speaker 01

It's only a hundred and forty five grand as well.

• 48:10Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 48:10Jonny?

  Like, is that the SUV?

• 48:11Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 48:13Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 48:13Chris Williamson?

Really expensive. Pretty expensive, but it's fucking mental. It's unbelievable. So they were trying to convey just how quick this car was. So put it on a track and they were like, we've been doing these tests for ages and no one can really understand just how fast and powerful this car is. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna put it on a track against an Italian sports car. And they've got an Alfa Romeo Spider pulled up next to it, like fucking quick, light Italian sports car, rapid. Says, and it's gonna go up against a Tesla Model Three, pulling a flatbed with an Alfa Romeo Spider on the back of it.

• 48:47Jonny?

  Oh, man.

• 48:48Chris Williamson?

So the Tesla beats it in a quarter mile, in a quarter mile, pulling the car that it's beating.

• 48:55Jonny?

Yeah, I've seen that video. Have you seen the one where there's a guy parked, it's in like London or something, there's a guy with a Lamborghini. He like comes, he's like, wow, wow, wow, parks. And there's a, one of these Tesla SUVs that has a show off button. You see that?

• 49:10Chris Williamson?

  Flaps the wings.

• 49:10Jonny?

The, the doors come up, it's going like.

• 49:15Jonny?

And like, everyone is ignoring the Lamborghini, taking photos of the Tesla. It's like, there's that, that side of what Elon Musk does is just like, class, it's just, let's forget about the logistics of it, let's make something stupid.

• 49:29Chris Williamson?

And have you seen when you press the ludicrous button on it, it says, uh, like, put some warnings up, like this will cause, uh, extended wear on the battery and the tyres and the transmission. Are you sure? Yes. No, I want my mummy.

• 49:48Chris Williamson?

  It's really good.

• 49:49Jonny?

There's that clip of the, I think it's the new Roadster that they've not released yet, there's like two seconds where they put it into fast mode or whatever, there's a journalist in it and the screen goes like, has like orange, like.

• 50:02Speaker 01

  Oh, like, um, a laser.

• 50:05Jonny?

Yeah, and the guy's going, oh my god.

• 50:08Speaker 01

They brought out a lorry now as well.

• 50:10Jonny?

  Yeah. It's self-drive.

• 50:11Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 50:12Speaker 01

  Oh, does it?

• 50:12Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 50:13Chris Williamson?

  It's.

• 50:13Jonny?

  All of them are self-drive.

• 50:14Chris Williamson?

Have you seen where the, have you seen where the guy is seated, where the lorry driver's seated?

• 50:18Jonny?

  No.

• 50:18Chris Williamson?

There's one single seat directly in the centre of the cockpit. It's just.

• 50:24Jonny?

  So Elon Musk's.

• 50:26Chris Williamson?

I'm gonna put, I'm gonna tag one on at the end of automatic cars and it's, um, full filled petrol tanks or full filled fuel tanks. Like the overhead cost, the time of peeling off from your journey to go to the petrol station.

• 50:40Jonny?

  Um.

• 50:41Chris Williamson?

Is something that needs to be apportioned across. As why, as much profit as possible, that overhead cost needs to be apportioned across. You filling your tank to push the next trip to the petrol station as far away as possible. Money is prohibitive if you don't have the cash to be able to fill your car every time, but if you do. The extra, like saving yourself thirty seconds from not holding on to the handle to fill the tank. Means that you need to take three to five minutes out of your journey one week earlier. Than you would have done to go back to the fuel station.

• 51:18Jonny?

The only, we've spoken about this, like countless times. The only way in which that's not the case is if. Two, so two, two situations, I think one is if you don't use your car that often. But you fill it up. So like someone who's just has like sixty quid of fuel sat in their car for a long time.

• 51:42Chris Williamson?

Okay, well you tied up wealth in.

• 51:44Jonny?

Well, yeah, yeah, basically, like if, if you have a way, if you are in some way gaining interest from money that you own.

• 51:52Chris Williamson?

  Okay.

• 51:53Jonny?

  Then it's a stupid idea.

• 51:55Chris Williamson?

Even if you have that money in a Santander one, two, three account, which is the highest level of interest that you're gonna get. You're on one point five percent of sixty pounds.

• 52:04Jonny?

Well, no, if you were like, let's say you.

• 52:07Chris Williamson?

  Trading.

• 52:08Jonny?

The, the trading or like there's, there's some, something you're doing to generate returns from your cash.

• 52:14Chris Williamson?

  Okay, what's the other one?

• 52:15Jonny?

Um, well, it's all on the same thing. So it's like. If you're, if you're just always filling up your tank, you don't necessarily need to, like if it's not too much of a detour to go to the petrol station, for example. Then I think, so what I, what I do is fill up like some, if I know I've got a lot of driving to do, I'll fill up. So now I'm doing like, what'll normally take me a week, probably put half a tank in.

• 52:41Chris Williamson?

But why not just put the full tank in?

• 52:43Jonny?

  Because it's not.

• 52:44Speaker 01

  Liquidity preference.

• 52:45Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 52:46Chris Williamson?

  Because what?

• 52:47Jonny?

I'd rather have the cash in my bank account.

• 52:50Chris Williamson?

  Than what?

• 52:50Jonny?

A full tank, just foresight that there's the cap that I I know how much cash I have. Like, you don't know how much cash is in your car. You know how much cash is in your bank account.

• 53:00Chris Williamson?

  Hmm. Okay, so financially.

• 53:02Jonny?

  Visibility.

• 53:02Chris Williamson?

  Financially creative.

• 53:03Jonny?

  And also, yeah, yeah.

• 53:05Chris Williamson?

  Is is what?

• 53:06Speaker 01

  The analytics.

• 53:06Chris Williamson?

  But I I can't see, a- a- aside from that point.

• 53:10Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 53:11Chris Williamson?

I can't see any reason why I fucking hate petrol stations.

• 53:15Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 53:16Jonny?

  They are, they are.

• 53:17Speaker 01

Well, the customers is few, it's po- oh, so, so, thanks to you, I filled up my car the other day without having to get out of it. So, so thi- this is a little.

• 53:26Chris Williamson?

  I can't believe, I can't believe that this is a thing now.

• 53:29Speaker 01

So good. So you, you, you, Apple Pay pre-authorise the amount that you want to fill up. So I say sixty pounds.

• 53:35Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 53:35Speaker 01

And then go to the car, put in the petrol thing, take the cap and wedge that under the handle and then get back in the car. And just sit for a bit until it's full.

• 53:47Chris Williamson?

  I don't know how that's possible.

• 53:48Jonny?

  Go, go through that again.

• 53:49Speaker 01

So, y- you know, you unscrew the cap.

• 53:51Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 53:51Speaker 01

And you, when you, when you put the nozzle in, you squeeze the thing and then you wedge the cap underneath it and it's the perfect size. To hold the thing as if you were squeezing the petrol nozzle and then you can go and sit in your car. So if it's bad weather or if it's cold or something, you could, you're just chilling in your car.

• 54:09Jonny?

So when you're saying without having to get out of it, you don't mean.

• 54:12Chris Williamson?

You had to get out of it twice, but for a brief time.

• 54:13Jonny?

  Right.

• 54:14Chris Williamson?

But the, you, you paid at the pump, right?

• 54:16Speaker 01

Yeah, tha- that's what I mean. I didn't have to go to the kiosk. I had to deal with.

• 54:19Jonny?

So it's the lid, presumably the lid's not designed to be.

• 54:22Chris Williamson?

It's definitely not built for that.

• 54:24Speaker 01

  Do you not think?

• 54:24Chris Williamson?

  No, I'm certain.

• 54:25Speaker 01

Some people carry a tennis ball and wedge underneath.

• 54:28Chris Williamson?

  I don't, I mean.

• 54:28Speaker 01

  Quite clever.

• 54:29Chris Williamson?

I don't like having my hand on it because it's covered in fuel. And it means that your right hand sticks with fuel for the rest of the day.

• 54:35Jonny?

  Gloves, don't they?

• 54:35Chris Williamson?

Yeah, they do do, they do do little gloves. I didn't think that's what they were for.

• 54:38Jonny?

It, what do you think they were for?

• 54:40Chris Williamson?

  I don't know.

• 54:41Jonny?

  Just de- having a.

• 54:41Chris Williamson?

Cow needed, if a cow needed inseminating round the corner.

• 54:46Jonny?

In case you had to, you know, cut some turkey for a customer, then you'd have, you'd have the gloves.

• 54:50Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 54:51Jonny?

Um, isn't it in the US, don't they have people working at petrol stations?

• 54:54Chris Williamson?

They do, they do in a lot of places. They do in the UK as well. They do, the, the shell just down the road in Gosforth, they have that. But it's just like peak time, no.

• 55:02Speaker 01

I see, just to get people through the door quicker.

• 55:05Chris Williamson?

It will be, because they can, they can just rattle people through. But that'll, again, that's a reason to go to a premium petrol, a premium fuel station, rather than going to like Tesco.

• 55:14Speaker 01

So I was just looking it up, it costs three pounds sixty four to charge an electric car. Um, or it's free at the public.

• 55:22Chris Williamson?

For a range of probably about three hundred miles, if you get a good one.

• 55:24Jonny?

So Tesla give you a solar panel to put on your garage. And then it comes down, like the cable can come down.

• 55:32Speaker 01

I'm so sold on a Tesla.

• 55:34Jonny?

  That's just really expensive.

• 55:36Chris Williamson?

But you can get, I mean, you can get a, um, a.

• 55:39Jonny?

The new one that they're bringing out.

• 55:40Chris Williamson?

You can get Model S, which is the one that's been around for a while, it's kind of the saloon style one. There's some good ones of that, that's not super basic, floating around for about sort of sixty grand now. You think like.

• 55:53Jonny?

That's still, that's still a high end car though, isn't it?

• 55:56Chris Williamson?

It is, but look at what you get for it.

• 55:57Jonny?

Yeah, you do get an awful lot.

• 55:59Speaker 01

  So spacious inside as well.

• 56:01Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, they're massive.

• 56:01Jonny?

So it's a, it's a luxury car that's faster than like ninety nine percent of things, so fuel efficient, so cheap to run. Like.

• 56:08Speaker 01

Get at least one or get one second hand, I suppose.

• 56:11Chris Williamson?

I mean, even on PCP, even on PCP, that would be. Five grand down, eight hundred quid a month, seven hundred quid a month.

• 56:18Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 56:18Chris Williamson?

Maybe, it's a lot of money to pay for a car, but your alternative would be like, for that money, you'd be looking at like a three litre turbo diesel Q seven. Like a nice Q seven or something like that, which is probably five hundred quid a year in tax.

• 56:31Jonny?

Yeah, you save on tax and.

• 56:33Chris Williamson?

  Sixty quid a fortnight.

• 56:34Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 56:35Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 56:35Chris Williamson?

  In fuel.

• 56:36Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 56:37Speaker 01

Yeah, like the fuel things, the.

• 56:39Jonny?

The, the chi with them is like.

• 56:43Jonny?

I, I, well, they've got like a three hundred mile range.

• 56:45Chris Williamson?

You can get the absolute top end ones, I think the hundred D, you can get about three fifty out of them. Which is the, one of the reasons that I haven't seriously looked at them, because I can't one hundred percent get myself to Manchester and back.

• 56:56Jonny?

Yeah, that's it, you have to find a Tesla charging point.

• 57:00Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 57:00Jonny?

In. And that's what, that's not.

• 57:02Speaker 01

If you're not near one imminently, you, you really.

• 57:04Chris Williamson?

But that's, the thing is, that's, that's only going to become less prohibitive with time.

• 57:08Jonny?

Yeah, so I think when the infrastructure is fully in place, that's when.

• 57:11Chris Williamson?

  Laughing.

• 57:12Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 57:12Chris Williamson?

  Absolutely.

• 57:13Jonny?

But then it'll just, diesel and petrol will just get phased out, won't it?

• 57:16Chris Williamson?

Well, even, I think it's, is it not, all cars are moving to diesel within the next decade?

• 57:21Speaker 01

  Really?

• 57:21Chris Williamson?

  All petrol?

• 57:22Jonny?

Yeah, like diesel's getting phased out.

• 57:24Chris Williamson?

Is it, or is it the other way?

• 57:25Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 57:25Speaker 01

Get a silly little hybrid car or something in the meantime and then. Hope for the best.

• 57:30Jonny?

  Nissan Leaf.

• 57:31Speaker 01

  Nissan Leaf.

• 57:32Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 57:33Speaker 01

That was a hybrid three point sixty four.

• 57:34Jonny?

I think they're pure electric. Loads of the um.

• 57:38Chris Williamson?

Get like, like Prius, how long, I love a fucking Prius, it's been rampant.

• 57:41Jonny?

That's they they're they get really criticised because of their work, because of their engines or whatever. It's not like something like the engine creates the battery life.

• 57:50Chris Williamson?

  Right.

• 57:51Jonny?

So it's not like you don't plug it in.

• 57:53Chris Williamson?

Yeah. But that's the same as a BMW i eight.

• 57:56Jonny?

  Yeah, yeah, it is.

• 57:57Chris Williamson?

  That's a hybrid, right?

• 57:58Jonny?

  It is.

• 57:59Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 57:59Jonny?

Yeah. Um, but a Leaf apparently beats like most sports cars of the first twenty metres or so.

• 58:07Chris Williamson?

  Just you get you get.

• 58:08Jonny?

The way electric engines work, yeah.

• 58:10Chris Williamson?

You get all of the power available immediately.

• 58:13Jonny?

Yeah, which is why Tesla is so frightening.

• 58:16Chris Williamson?

I mean, have you ever have you ever played Scalextric?

• 58:19Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 58:19Chris Williamson?

Like, you you pull the you pull the trigger and that that thing fucking whips.

• 58:23Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 58:23Speaker 01

  That's true.

• 58:24Jonny?

It's the so like the those big articulated lorries, like if they are, because you've seen how fast they go. Like faster.

• 58:33Chris Williamson?

Have you seen the keynote? Have you seen the keynote where they're pulling away at the same?

• 58:36Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 58:36Chris Williamson?

Laden, oh man, it is. Yeah, I mean, it's gonna be really interesting to see what happens, I suppose, because.

• 58:42Speaker 01

They're gonna have to have a safety thing because because it's very in traffic, you know, like sometimes you you're glad that it doesn't pull off so fast because you could have easily just.

• 58:51Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 58:51Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 58:52Speaker 01

  Car around.

• 58:52Chris Williamson?

  So.

• 58:53Jonny?

There's loads of Tesla like self-drive videos of like Teslas avoiding avoiding collisions and stuff.

• 58:59Chris Williamson?

Have you seen, there's a video that I saw the other day of an S-Class, so the S-Class Merc is always the one that's got the absolute.

• 59:05Jonny?

  Like the top, top end.

• 59:06Chris Williamson?

  New um technology.

• 59:09Jonny?

  Uh huh.

• 59:09Chris Williamson?

And it's a video of what is presumably, it looks like a an Arabian guy driving driving down a a street. And it's just him in the backseat with no one else in the car.

• 59:20Jonny?

  Oh, God.

• 59:21Chris Williamson?

With his feet across the centre console with his socks on, reading as the car just drives itself out.

• 59:27Jonny?

That's the fucking dreams. That isn't it, but like, um, so like all of the benefits of public transport.

• 59:35Speaker 01

  Yeah, exactly.

• 59:35Jonny?

But with none of the downsides.

• 59:37Speaker 01

Quiet, oh, it'd be amazing, absolutely great.

• 59:39Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 59:39Jonny?

I think how productive you'd be.

• 59:41Speaker 01

  Oh, my God.

• 59:42Chris Williamson?

  There's a big um.

• 59:43Jonny?

  A sleep.

• 59:44Speaker 01

It would take away any problem with um, oh, like, I wanna live closer to work or whatever.

• 59:49Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 59:49Speaker 01

It suddenly makes your commute so comfortable. You may as well.

• 59:52Jonny?

You do anything in the in the drive, can't you? Like, sleep longer, watch a film, yeah?

• 59:58Speaker 01

Brush your teeth, you you could bring a little bath bag and like continue doing your morning routine.

• 1:00:02Jonny?

But the argument would be to get like a four transit van that does that and then kit the back out as just a room in your house.

• 1:00:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:00:11Speaker 01

  I'm so excited about this.

• 1:00:13Chris Williamson?

It's such a getting such a hard on for the optimising.

• 1:00:16Jonny?

For your future four transit van that's fully electric.

• 1:00:18Speaker 01

I'm going to live in the Shetman's, I don't care. Like, I'm going to live in the Shetman's.

• 1:00:21Chris Williamson?

  Wherever cheapest.

• 1:00:22Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:00:22Chris Williamson?

At the best yield. Uh, right, let's do a quick fire round.

• 1:00:25Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:00:26Chris Williamson?

  Round once.

• 1:00:26Speaker 01

  So Anki for me.

• 1:00:28Chris Williamson?

Oh, that's what you used to study with for med school, right?

• 1:00:30Speaker 01

Yeah, well, well remembered. So it's a spaced repetition of software um based on a lot of the evidence showing that the act of actively remembering something, the act of recall is the thing which cements it in memory. It's not repeated exposure, but it's repeated retrieval. And so Anki helped me to um perform quite well in my exams a couple of years ago in in med school. The last year I didn't really use it as much unfortunately, but that was just because I was being lazy and over overstretched. But um I made six thousand flashcards and just reviewed them.

• 1:01:09Speaker 01

And it gives you analytics and so you you reviewed each of them maybe three or four times over and by that point you're pretty familiar with the material. So I think for anyone that has to memorize a large amount of information in a short time, it's probably the best way to actively cement it in.

• 1:01:26Chris Williamson?

So you can use this, you create your own cards and then it quizzes you on the cards that you've made.

• 1:01:30Speaker 01

You can create your own or there are, I mean, for for something like medicine where it's quite unanimous topic, like there are many pre-made cards.

• 1:01:38Chris Williamson?

  Rules, right?

• 1:01:39Speaker 01

Yeah, so so loads of people have made decks themselves, which is which is fine, free, uh, so.

• 1:01:44Chris Williamson?

Wow, that's such a fucking good resource.

• 1:01:46Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:01:47Chris Williamson?

I was gonna guess like for learning stuff like languages and things like that, maybe not speaking.

• 1:01:50Speaker 01

There's loads of paths for languages, um, that they reviewed. They're not, but you can you can usually tell like so the there's one called flash finals, which is like split into, you know, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology and stuff. And it's all like they give you sources at the end of it. Whoever's made the flashcards.

• 1:02:07Jonny?

  Knows what they're doing.

• 1:02:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:02:08Jonny?

It's just quite an insidious thing, isn't it? Like if you made the flashcards and it's a bit wrong, like slightly wrong.

• 1:02:13Speaker 01

Yeah, it's why I don't always wanna rely on people's decks, cause sometimes people like, yeah, what is this person?

• 1:02:19Jonny?

Yeah, you're assuming that they've just copied out a textbook or.

• 1:02:22Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:02:23Chris Williamson?

That's pretty, that's that's pretty fucking cool though. And it's just, there's a mobile app and I'm gonna guess it'll be.

• 1:02:28Speaker 01

Mobile app's twenty pounds for iPhone, but I, you know what? I was like, I'm paying nine grand for my.

• 1:02:35Chris Williamson?

If if you've paid twenty pounds for a mobile app, there is no greater accolade.

• 1:02:40Jonny?

If he's if he's paid for an app, it's just gonna straight away.

• 1:02:43Chris Williamson?

I don't know why I I I'm not even studying medicine or anything.

• 1:02:47Jonny?

  It's like.

• 1:02:48Speaker 01

If you've got an Android phone, the one redeeming thing of having an Android is that it's free.

• 1:02:51Jonny?

  What the hell?

• 1:02:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:02:53Jonny?

Easy to develop apps in a friend.

• 1:02:55Chris Williamson?

Yeah, it's open, I think it's like a bit more open. So Johnny, have you got one?

• 1:02:59Jonny?

Green smoothies. Have I said that?

• 1:03:02Chris Williamson?

  No.

• 1:03:02Jonny?

  No.

• 1:03:04Speaker 01

  You're drinking one this morning.

• 1:03:05Jonny?

I was, yeah, you clocked it. So, um, I find just generally like vegetables and fruit and like managing my like the quality of my diet, a bit of a pain.

• 1:03:18Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:19Jonny?

Um, well aware that it's something, I think like everyone feels like they should probably have more fruit and vegetables, like even like.

• 1:03:29Chris Williamson?

  Even vegans probably need fruit.

• 1:03:31Jonny?

So everyone's like, I should probably do with having more fruit and vegetables.

• 1:03:34Speaker 01

  I don't know anyone that's like, oh, I think.

• 1:03:35Jonny?

  I'm having enough. Yeah, precisely.

• 1:03:37Speaker 01

Really cut down on my vegetable intake.

• 1:03:39Jonny?

So like, I just don't like it being something like the end of the day, if you're like, I don't need vegetables today. Yeah, like how can I fudge it into this? So instead, just breakfast for me is green smoothie.

• 1:03:52Chris Williamson?

What does what goes into a green smoothie?

• 1:03:55Jonny?

Spinach, blueberries, banana, skipper protein powder. And I add like my like creatine and stuff like that. So take all my supplements. So there's there's like a reasonable hit of micronutrition and like all of the like health stuff.

• 1:04:10Jonny?

That I feel like I should do is done.

• 1:04:12Speaker 01

  What blender would you recommend?

• 1:04:14Jonny?

  I I don't think it really matters. I think.

• 1:04:16Chris Williamson?

  What are you using?

• 1:04:17Jonny?

  It's a, I don't remember the brand.

• 1:04:19Chris Williamson?

  Not like a NutriBullet?

• 1:04:20Jonny?

  No, it's a jug on a stand.

• 1:04:22Chris Williamson?

It's like an old schooly one.

• 1:04:23Jonny?

Yeah, yeah. I think like you don't.

• 1:04:26Chris Williamson?

My dad's got a NutriBullet, whatever that is.

• 1:04:28Jonny?

I think they, is that the one where you clip it in and it's the cups that you fill it? There's trouble with that.

• 1:04:33Speaker 01

So does that detach as a flask that you can carry, carry around?

• 1:04:36Jonny?

The the trouble with them is the sometimes so often, especially if using protein powder, the it expands. And because it's sealed when you put it on.

• 1:04:46Chris Williamson?

  It's gonna.

• 1:04:47Jonny?

  Take it off.

• 1:04:48Chris Williamson?

Yeah, yeah. Okay, so have you, did you go anywhere to find recipes?

• 1:04:53Jonny?

  No.

• 1:04:53Chris Williamson?

So you put how much spinach?

• 1:04:55Jonny?

  Two hundred grams.

• 1:04:57Chris Williamson?

  Fuck.

• 1:04:57Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 1:04:58Chris Williamson?

  Oh my god.

• 1:04:59Jonny?

  I'm convinced.

• 1:05:02Jonny?

  Oh, hold on.

• 1:05:03Chris Williamson?

It can't be two hundred grams.

• 1:05:05Jonny?

  No, no, no.

• 1:05:05Chris Williamson?

  It would fill the kitchen.

• 1:05:06Jonny?

No, so, okay, so you, so maybe it isn't two hundred grams, but it's a lot, it's a lot of spinach, like it's not like, it's not like a pinch of leaves, it's like, I'm talking the, the thick end of a, nearly a bag.

• 1:05:17Speaker 01

  A tree of spinach.

• 1:05:18Chris Williamson?

How have you, how have you optimized the um, stock management?

• 1:05:26Jonny?

So weekly shop, weekly shop, you get, don't buy frozen spinach, that is so important. I I cannot repeat that enough.

• 1:05:34Chris Williamson?

You tell me this story, why not?

• 1:05:35Jonny?

  So.

• 1:05:37Jonny?

No, it comes in like little pucks, like a hockey puck.

• 1:05:40Chris Williamson?

  Okay.

• 1:05:40Jonny?

So you get a bag of frozen spinach, it's loads of little hockey puck of spinach, you think, that'll be fine, throw those in, press go on the blender, it goes like. You're like, oh my god, what's gonna happen here?

• 1:05:53Jonny?

And then you drink it, you're like, it's the first time you eat, panic, turn it off, you're like, check.

• 1:05:58Chris Williamson?

  It's alright.

• 1:05:59Jonny?

No, nothing's happened. Okay, I'll just leave it. And I've still got anxiety about leaving the blender, even now. I gradually, so funny.

• 1:06:10Chris Williamson?

  You just back off.

• 1:06:11Jonny?

The stu- the stuff that you do when you're in the house by yourself.

• 1:06:14Chris Williamson?

Do you slowly move away from, like you would do with a dog that's bearing its teeth?

• 1:06:17Jonny?

Yeah, so like, so what I normally do, when I make my breakfast, I have coffee, green smoothie. So even now this morning, um, put everything in, press go. There's been a few instances where I've, like, you're a bit tired, you're like, I just put stuff in, slightly miss, miss, like, get the, the quantities wrong. And it goes, it starts flowing over the thing.

• 1:06:37Chris Williamson?

  Oh, no.

• 1:06:37Jonny?

So like, you just press go and I'll go make my coffee, I'm making it on my.

• 1:06:41Chris Williamson?

Just looking at it from the side while you're making your coffee on the other side of the room.

• 1:06:45Jonny?

Stop it, come on, it's been fine, it's fine every morning. Uh, so yeah, uh, pucks of spinach and plus they don't blend. So you're drinking it and suddenly you get hit with a puck of spinach that's still frozen. And it's mingin', like, it's so bad. So buy fresh.

• 1:07:04Chris Williamson?

Made that mistake before and it's.

• 1:07:06Jonny?

Oh, God, it's just not worth it. It's not, it's not more cost efficient or anything, it's just worse. Buy, so even like end of line. Spinach, fresh spinach, freeze it as soon as you get home.

• 1:07:16Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:07:17Jonny?

  And it's good for.

• 1:07:17Chris Williamson?

And then you put it in frozen, do you not defrost it?

• 1:07:19Jonny?

Yeah, yeah, put it in frozen. So fro- fro- fresh spinach frozen goes very.

• 1:07:24Chris Williamson?

  Flaky.

• 1:07:24Jonny?

Yeah, so you can, you can compress it.

• 1:07:26Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, okay.

• 1:07:27Jonny?

So you put it in and then I, with my fist, push it down.

• 1:07:30Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:07:30Jonny?

  Blueberries, banana.

• 1:07:32Chris Williamson?

  Frozen blueberries?

• 1:07:33Jonny?

  Fo- frozen blueberries, fresh banana.

• 1:07:34Chris Williamson?

Cause I think frozen spinach must be partially boiled or something, cause it's, and then like compressed and. It must be. To get it into a puck? Yeah.

• 1:07:44Jonny?

Oh, I see, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:07:46Chris Williamson?

  Some sort of shaping machine.

• 1:07:47Jonny?

Well, cause they're just going for capacity in the bag, I suppose.

• 1:07:50Chris Williamson?

For sure. So, okay, so you throw all of that.

• 1:07:52Jonny?

So it, it, like, it doesn't taste, it's not like the nicest thing in the world, but it's, it's like.

• 1:07:57Chris Williamson?

Is it sufficiently palatable that you don't?

• 1:07:58Jonny?

Yeah, you don't, you don't drink because there's some fruit in there and a bit of brain powder, you don't drink it and think, oh my God, that's a spinach drink.

• 1:08:04Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:05Jonny?

Like, there's a slight taste of it.

• 1:08:06Chris Williamson?

  Okay.

• 1:08:07Jonny?

  But if you look up.

• 1:08:09Chris Williamson?

  It's quite refreshing, it's quite.

• 1:08:10Jonny?

Yeah, oh, yeah, yeah. Plus I just feel so cleansed.

• 1:08:13Chris Williamson?

What are the, what are the, what are the reported benefits coming from you?

• 1:08:18Jonny?

  Fantastic.

• 1:08:19Chris Williamson?

  One like wonders.

• 1:08:20Jonny?

Honestly, it is, it turns your pooing into a timetabled event.

• 1:08:25Chris Williamson?

  Wow.

• 1:08:26Jonny?

Like my, you could be more confident on your poos than like the time the news comes on. Like.

• 1:08:33Chris Williamson?

  The passage of the sun.

• 1:08:34Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:34Chris Williamson?

It's now done to the tune of your bowel movement.

• 1:08:37Jonny?

And there's something that that Kelly Starrett said that I still remember that he must have said it like casually offhand years ago, which is. If every day, that obviously only applies to men.

• 1:08:48Jonny?

Let's not get the gender thing. It applies to people with a functioning penis.

• 1:08:52Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:52Jonny?

So if you wake up, every day, if you wake up with an erection and you have a good poo, you're probably fine health wise.

• 1:09:01Chris Williamson?

I love how that's just an overarching metric.

• 1:09:03Jonny?

But I really like how simple it is.

• 1:09:06Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:06Jonny?

And like, there's probably quite a bit of truth to it.

• 1:09:09Chris Williamson?

  Yep.

• 1:09:10Jonny?

So, um, yeah, just very, if you grade your poo on the Bristol poo scale.

• 1:09:18Chris Williamson?

  Mm hmm.

• 1:09:18Jonny?

Like, you're pretty much exactly where you need to be.

• 1:09:20Chris Williamson?

  Back on the money.

• 1:09:21Jonny?

Yeah. Like, it's just a bunch of fibre, isn't it?

• 1:09:24Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:25Jonny?

It's a big, like, it's like domestus going through your system.

• 1:09:29Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:29Jonny?

  It's gonna flush stuff out.

• 1:09:30Chris Williamson?

Yeah, that sounds, I'm, I'm, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna try it. You've brought me in on slow cooking and I'm, I'm slow cooking now.

• 1:09:37Jonny?

It's, so it's, it's great for you because it's, it's really fast, just really convenient. And like, also you can, once you've made it, you can just have it while you're like. Getting your stuff ready and, yeah. Which like, I can't really be bothered with, like, making breakfast in the morning.

• 1:09:51Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:51Jonny?

  So it's really.

• 1:09:52Chris Williamson?

I'm, I'm all right with making breakfast because I need to eat, but again, I.

• 1:09:55Jonny?

Plus, like, put it in a protein choker, take it with you.

• 1:09:57Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:57Jonny?

  Just wash the.

• 1:09:59Chris Williamson?

Is it not, um, do you not find because it's frozen, is it not like really fucking cold?

• 1:10:04Jonny?

Not as much as you'd think.

• 1:10:05Chris Williamson?

Okay. So remember I used to mix fro- frozen blueberries in with Greek yogurt, protein powder.

• 1:10:11Jonny?

  Really cool.

• 1:10:11Chris Williamson?

And it would actually freeze the fucking.

• 1:10:13Jonny?

So eating them, I think, there's something about.

• 1:10:16Chris Williamson?

  Whisking.

• 1:10:16Jonny?

  Breaking it up, yeah.

• 1:10:17Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, okay.

• 1:10:18Jonny?

But like, what's nice about that combination is that's your blank canvas.

• 1:10:22Chris Williamson?

  Spinach banana.

• 1:10:23Jonny?

If you wanna add in mango, papaya.

• 1:10:26Chris Williamson?

So why have you, why have you settled with those ingredients?

• 1:10:28Jonny?

Just because, it's nice, I know the quantities off the top of my head, I don't have to think about it, like it's not expensive.

• 1:10:35Speaker 01

Red is giving minimal calories as well.

• 1:10:37Jonny?

Yeah, it's like two hundred, three hundred calories or something.

• 1:10:40Speaker 01

If you start adding my new. It's gonna be, yeah.

• 1:10:44Jonny?

Plus like buying a bag of mango, you could buy mango, mangoes.

• 1:10:49Speaker 01

Asda now do diced mango and pineapple together.

• 1:10:52Jonny?

  Really?

• 1:10:52Speaker 01

  Which is really good.

• 1:10:53Chris Williamson?

And the frozen, when you go and have a look at some of the options for frozen fruit and vegetables.

• 1:10:59Jonny?

  Unbelievable.

• 1:11:00Chris Williamson?

People have taken it to real extreme.

• 1:11:01Jonny?

  You can buy smoothie bags.

• 1:11:04Speaker 01

  Hmm, bits of like cucumber.

• 1:11:05Jonny?

Don't do it, I've tried it, don't do it.

• 1:11:06Chris Williamson?

I've, I've gone in there, as, uh, uh, my, my shortcut for slow cooking now is to buy, um, pre-prepped chopped one kilo bags of vegetables.

• 1:11:17Speaker 01

  It's the best, isn't it?

• 1:11:17Chris Williamson?

  So it's the veg.

• 1:11:18Jonny?

  Just mixed veg.

• 1:11:19Chris Williamson?

Yeah, and, and there's a probably a little bit, tiny little bit of some kind of marinade that they've been thrown in with.

• 1:11:25Speaker 01

  Soup mixes or whatever.

• 1:11:26Chris Williamson?

Yeah, a tiny little bit, and then you throw that in, meat, stock, water, pepper, salt, cumin, eight hours, wake up the next morning. So that's, that's a full day's eating. Um, so my final one is one that I don't think I've even told you two about, although you may know, VSCO Cam?

• 1:11:45Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:11:46Chris Williamson?

I'd mentioned this to you before, VSCO Cam, so it is an app.

• 1:11:50Speaker 01

  It's giving away your secrets.

• 1:11:51Chris Williamson?

I know, I am. Well, this is, this is a proper, this is an actual proper life hack. So, uh, VSCO is basically a photo editing app. It's free for, although there's an upgrade, as with everything, to get the super big dick version. And it's kind of similar to Instagram without the posting functionality. So you've got a bunch of preset filters on there. But the filters on there are fucking unbelievable. So one of the ways that I've managed to make a lot of the screen grabs from podcasts look really good, isn't by going on desktop and doing it on Photoshop, it's by using B1. Oh, A2, the two.

• 1:12:28Jonny?

  A5.

• 1:12:29Chris Williamson?

A5, is it A5, A5 on, um, on VSEO and it looks awesome. It just, there's, there's like a whole, an hype beast, have you heard of that? It's like a, kind of like a, um, a website for Supreme and like super trendy streetwear.

• 1:12:44Jonny?

  Right.

• 1:12:45Chris Williamson?

They released two exclusive filters through VSEO and about once every month, there'll be a free one that you can download and you just, as long as you make sure you're online and you add it to your pack.

• 1:12:54Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 1:12:54Chris Williamson?

You end up with this thing and you can do all sorts of mad shit with it, like you can add grain. Um, the sharpness, um, is a lot finer and can also go higher, a lot higher than you can on Instagram. So especially if you're looking to create a brand, if you're doing, um, any sort of Instagram or Tumblr or even sort of, I guess with Facebook and Twitter as well. When you need to spend a little bit of time making sure that your pictures look perfect. There's a lot more customizer, yeah, customizability through this app. And so what I tend to do is go into VSEO, throw a batch of filters, then you can batch export as well.

• 1:13:30Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 1:13:31Chris Williamson?

Put it through Instagram, do the final little tweaks.

• 1:13:33Jonny?

Does it save them in an Instagram dimension?

• 1:13:36Chris Williamson?

No, so you can, you can crop to whatever you want.

• 1:13:39Jonny?

  Right.

• 1:13:39Chris Williamson?

But the best way, the always the best way to do it is to export as full size, full aspect and then crop on Instagram. Because if you crop it before and then realise that you need to zoom out, you can't. But if you export full size and then crop in from there, then you've, you've got as much of the image to play with as you can.

• 1:13:56Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 1:13:56Chris Williamson?

And that's, um, yeah, VSEO, it's free, it's on, uh, App Store and, uh, whatever the equivalent is for iTunes, better for Android.

• 1:14:05Jonny?

  Do you already have one?

• 1:14:06Speaker 01

Google Play, yes, but I was gonna ask you, why did you say, don't, um, buy the premates movie?

• 1:14:15Chris Williamson?

  Something that's just been.

• 1:14:16Speaker 01

  It's been niggling, but I was like, I can't.

• 1:14:18Jonny?

So they, they, see, what, what I'll, what I will do, and I imagine you're the same, is I would buy it because of the, like the exotic fruit in there.

• 1:14:27Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:28Jonny?

So like you would buy like.

• 1:14:29Chris Williamson?

  Like the one with rhubarb.

• 1:14:30Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:31Chris Williamson?

  To be like, oh, great.

• 1:14:32Jonny?

And then you get it and you pour it out and you're like, right, this is mainly like.

• 1:14:38Chris Williamson?

  Mainly cucumber.

• 1:14:39Jonny?

Melon with a little bit of. So they they they under provide on the like, what is obviously the rare, more expensive fruit. Cause you think.

• 1:14:47Chris Williamson?

  The rare fruit.

• 1:14:47Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:48Chris Williamson?

They nail the like misshapen banana or like.

• 1:14:50Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:50Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, I see.

• 1:14:51Jonny?

So like what you're getting is just frozen versions of regular, like plain fruit. Which it like is fair enough. I understand why they do it, but they're they're just doing it for people who want to just.

• 1:15:04Jonny?

The sort of person who makes makes like puts that plus like some yogurt in a smoothie maker and has it in the morning.

• 1:15:09Chris Williamson?

  Hmm.

• 1:15:10Jonny?

I just think once, once you've had, like, the purpose of a smoothie is not for like a nice thing. It's extremely.

• 1:15:17Chris Williamson?

The purpose of the homemade smoothie.

• 1:15:18Jonny?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:15:20Chris Williamson?

Because Innocent have just got that game on.

• 1:15:23Jonny?

  Oh, on.

• 1:15:24Chris Williamson?

The thing you cannot beat, Innocent Smoothie's a taste and I've tried.

• 1:15:28Jonny?

  Yeah, yeah, they.

• 1:15:30Chris Williamson?

Tropicana, Tropicana have just started venturing into the smoothie market and then.

• 1:15:33Jonny?

I think they should stick to orange juice with bits and without bits and just.

• 1:15:37Chris Williamson?

Great orange juice. But no, I mean, the thing is as well with innocent smoothies, you can go and I did. You remember when you came in before and and in my fridge, there was like a case of it.

• 1:15:46Jonny?

  So nice.

• 1:15:47Chris Williamson?

Cause it was, it was like, it was on two pounds or one pound fifty for a liter.

• 1:15:50Jonny?

  Hmm.

• 1:15:51Chris Williamson?

And I just caned it and you're like, right, brilliant, I'm sorry.

• 1:15:54Speaker 01

  That red one.

• 1:15:55Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, so good.

• 1:15:56Jonny?

They're just so decadent, you can't believe that it's healthy.

• 1:16:01Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:02Jonny?

Because it's tastes so intensely sweet.

• 1:16:05Chris Williamson?

That's what happened, you in three years' time, when you've refined the exact amount of spinach.

• 1:16:10Jonny?

And I make, I've got, you come in and I've got like a.

• 1:16:12Chris Williamson?

  Fucking elixir.

• 1:16:13Jonny?

Set up a lab in an industrial estate.

• 1:16:15Chris Williamson?

Yeah, there's like this conical flasks everywhere, doing it out the back of an R V.

• 1:16:20Jonny?

  And I'm going mad.

• 1:16:21Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:22Jonny?

  Do you get that?

• 1:16:23Chris Williamson?

  Yeah, good.

• 1:16:24Jonny?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:24Chris Williamson?

Good reference. If you watch Breaking Bad.

• 1:16:26Speaker 01

Just finished it. It was a stressful experience. Um.

• 1:16:30Chris Williamson?

  What most people enjoy.

• 1:16:31Speaker 01

Why did you ask if I'd got one?

• 1:16:33Jonny?

Well, just cause Chris did a like an image branding one. And I imagine like if you and I went into the propane world. There's so much shit.

• 1:16:43Speaker 01

  Oh, I see.

• 1:16:43Jonny?

  So I was thinking.

• 1:16:44Speaker 01

There's loads. I think that's a whole other episode of itself, isn't it?

• 1:16:47Chris Williamson?

  What do you mean?

• 1:16:48Jonny?

Just the stuff we use, like the stuff that makes things.

• 1:16:50Speaker 01

Do you like propane tools? Because I think all of these are personal tools that we're saying so far.

• 1:16:54Chris Williamson?

Yeah. When you get to business, when you're talking about how to expedite, like if I could do.

• 1:16:59Speaker 01

Oh, you've got loads on like dodgy Facebook.

• 1:17:02Chris Williamson?

Plugins and stuff like that. I could, I could, I could sit and do.

• 1:17:05Jonny?

All right, we'll do, we'll do that another time.

• 1:17:06Chris Williamson?

Yeah, like I think, I think social media, I'm sitting down with, oh yeah. So coming up soon, I've got Johan Hari, author of Lost Connections. I'm absolutely shitting my pants to sit down with him because he's a fucking, like an absolute monster. An intellectual behemoth. So I'm sitting down with him tomorrow. I'm sitting down with Corey Allen.

• 1:17:25Speaker 01

  Oh, really?

• 1:17:26Chris Williamson?

Creator of releasing to now all the artists.

• 1:17:29Jonny?

  A balloon.

• 1:17:30Chris Williamson?

  Yeah. Breathing in.

• 1:17:32Jonny?

Running at you over a green.

• 1:17:34Chris Williamson?

Smoke. So his voice, I want to find out if his voice actually sounds like that or if he puts.

• 1:17:38Jonny?

  I think it sounds exactly.

• 1:17:40Speaker 01

  He heard his podcast.

• 1:17:41Chris Williamson?

  No.

• 1:17:42Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:17:43Chris Williamson?

I wanted to not, I wanted to not listen to any of his stuff before I chatted to him. I've been tempted to listen to it for ages, but then I knew he was coming on. So is that right?

• 1:17:50Speaker 01

  I think that's wise.

• 1:17:51Chris Williamson?

So that's going to be the first one in of Modern Wisdom. That's actually been based around meditation. So I'm going to go from beginning to deepening your practice. And to try and find if there's some principles for practice and some confirmed adaptations that he thinks. So we're going to find like, no matter what level you're going into meditation at, you're going to, you're going to learn some shit.

• 1:18:15Speaker 01

  Good question.

• 1:18:15Chris Williamson?

Um, and then him, Johan Hari. And Tuesday this week, hopefully I'm going to get Quinn Henick, Juggernaut Training Systems. And that is going to be unbelievable. Some of his videos are fantastic. The ones that he does about, it's going to be hopefully, I'm going to try and get him onto the line of thinking about mobility myths. So.

• 1:18:38Jonny?

He loves that stuff, isn't he?

• 1:18:40Chris Williamson?

He's just a, he's like, he's like a mythbusters, like debunker for everything to do with.

• 1:18:44Jonny?

He's like anti-stretching, anti-film rolling, just as, as, does he not have those people do the 1990 hip?

• 1:18:50Chris Williamson?

He does, he does a bunch of stuff. He's not, he's not necessarily anti. I think that he just understands very well. His, his website is clinicalathlete.com.

• 1:18:58Jonny?

  Right.

• 1:18:59Chris Williamson?

So he just understands physiologically what the adaptations are and how you can best utilise them. So you're going to learn about mobility, you're going to learn, Johann Hari lost connection to like, fuck knows what I'm going to learn there. Like he'd written what appears to be the seminal meta-analysis on depression and anxiety for the modern world. Uh, he's also, Johann Hari's just, uh, as of three weeks ago, four weeks ago, taken a six month break from your, uh, social media.

• 1:19:27Jonny?

That'll be cool to learn about that.

• 1:19:30Chris Williamson?

Isn't that it? So, thanks very much.

• 1:19:32Jonny?

You're gonna end up doing that, don't you?

• 1:19:34Chris Williamson?

Six month break, no, it'd kill me. I can't. I'd, I'd love to. I can't wait until the day when I don't need to be on social media, but for as long as we have a

• 1:19:41Jonny?

  Maybe that day on that.

• 1:19:42Chris Williamson?

For as long as we have an events company, that's not going to be, that's not going to be possible.

• 1:19:47Jonny?

  Why don't you pay?

• 1:19:50Jonny?

Me and Yusef? No, actually, I forget about it.

• 1:19:53Chris Williamson?

I'm not, I'm not, I'm not sure that, I think, I think it would.

• 1:19:57Jonny?

  Yusef just went rabbit, rabbit.

• 1:19:58Speaker 01

Why don't you just pay me?

• 1:20:01Chris Williamson?

  What do you mean?

• 1:20:01Speaker 01

  No, just pay us.

• 1:20:02Jonny?

So, so, uh, if, if you had a, so make a, a manual of Chris. So like, this is how, this is how to be Chris. Make a Steven manual of Chris. And then say, like, in these situations.

• 1:20:18Chris Williamson?

  If X, then Y.

• 1:20:20Jonny?

And, and the Y is, just tell me. So like, once a day.

• 1:20:24Chris Williamson?

  Pass it up the chain.

• 1:20:25Jonny?

Someone comes, someone comes up, sits there, has like a Ovaltine and tells you.

• 1:20:30Chris Williamson?

  This is what happened today.

• 1:20:30Jonny?

This is what happened today, Chris. These are things you need to know.

• 1:20:32Chris Williamson?

How would you like, how would you like to move forward?

• 1:20:34Speaker 01

Or just calls you on your light phone and.

• 1:20:36Chris Williamson?

My light phone, my light phone's, my light phone's gonna work.

• 1:20:38Jonny?

  During office hours.

• 1:20:39Chris Williamson?

  Oh, I got one.

• 1:20:40Speaker 01

  Very good.

• 1:20:40Chris Williamson?

  I got one.

• 1:20:41Jonny?

It could definitely, it could, it could be done. Could definitely be done.

• 1:20:44Chris Williamson?

  Could be done.

• 1:20:44Jonny?

And it would be the most interesting project ever.

• 1:20:48Speaker 01

  Ever.

• 1:20:49Jonny?

Ever. Of all time, from all of history and for all of the future.

• 1:20:54Speaker 01

That's quite a prospect, like we're gonna launch the.

• 1:20:57Jonny?

Well, we're on the cusp of that.

• 1:20:58Speaker 01

I know, it could be you.

• 1:20:59Jonny?

What a time to be alive.

• 1:21:01Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 1:21:01Chris Williamson?

It is. Right, thank you. Um. We were supposed to talk about relationships this evening.

• 1:21:10Jonny?

Right, you did ever did your thing, or were you the last one?

• 1:21:13Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, I didn't. I didn't do my thing. Oh, would am I? We you the last? Okay.

• 1:21:17Chris Williamson?

  Yeah.

• 1:21:19Speaker 01

  To be honest, I was.

• 1:21:20Chris Williamson?

  Is it? It was Anki?

• 1:21:21Jonny?

We'll call it, let's call it.

• 1:21:22Speaker 01

Yeah, it was gonna be slow cooking, but you you kind of discussed that already.

• 1:21:25Chris Williamson?

We'll do slow cook. We'll do proper debrief on slow cooking next time.

• 1:21:28Speaker 01

That'll be good, because I've just made that cider chicken one.

• 1:21:32Chris Williamson?

How was it? How did it come out?

• 1:21:33Speaker 01

  Really good. Would recommend.

• 1:21:34Chris Williamson?

  Would you?

• 1:21:35Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:21:35Chris Williamson?

Man, that that um that ever now, I'm gonna make that ever now public, that set of recipes.

• 1:21:41Jonny?

  Sell that one.

• 1:21:43Chris Williamson?

  Business?

• 1:21:43Speaker 01

  Resell like someone else's recipe.

• 1:21:45Chris Williamson?

Convert to three percent, would you be part of business? Right, okay, bye then.

• 1:21:49Speaker 01

  Bye.

• 1:21:50Jonny?

  Bye then.

• 1:21:50Speaker 01

  Okay, bye then.
