• 1:20Speaker 03

Hi, my name's Jeanette. I'm 26 years old. I'm from Cape Coral, Florida, and this is Financial Audit.

• 1:26Caleb Hammer?

I'm a dumb [BLEEP] and can't stop buying stupid [BLEEP]. I don't need. LOL. That was her opening line in her application to be on the show.

• 1:39Caleb Hammer?

  A self-described dumb [BLEEP].

• 1:43Speaker 03

  You got it.

• 1:44Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so, you know what's interesting? And we talk about this in a lot of episodes, and I think I can naturally bring it up here. If I go out and about, let's just say, you know, I'm trying to think of an analogy and I'm trying to think of an example. I go out and about and I realize I'm wearing a pair of shoes and every time I wear this pair of shoes, I get.

• 2:09Caleb Hammer?

Uh, you know, uh, what are those little bumps called?

• 2:11Speaker 03

  Blisters?

• 2:12Caleb Hammer?

A blister and it hurts and it's every fucking time, every single time. Typically, what I do is I figure out, maybe I shouldn't wear those shoes because I realized this. Your application is self-defining. You know, you're the dumb who can't control her spending. Why aren't you wearing a different pair of shoes? Like, I feel like this shouldn't even be a conversation we need to have. I don't mean to come in intense, but like.

• 2:39Caleb Hammer?

I mean, that's pretty basics. If I want to change something and I know that I can know things are wrong.

• 2:45Speaker 03

  Right.

• 2:45Caleb Hammer?

But maybe I don't have that extra incentive to change it. I know what I eat is necessarily wrong. You know, sometimes when I, you know, have some bad food, but it's not like the most life impacting thing for me, so I don't really care. So I don't change that.

• 2:58Caleb Hammer?

But if there is something I care about, I do what is necessary to change it. This would suggest if you are on this show and you are self-realizing what is bad. You actually do not want to change it.

• 3:10Speaker 03

But I also love dumb. I love Amazon.

• 3:14Caleb Hammer?

Okay, basis doesn't know you exist, so I don't, okay, what, what are, what on Amazon? What is worth it?

• 3:22Speaker 03

It's, it's all overnight, stuff that I can't get at Walmart, like dog treats and like.

• 3:26Caleb Hammer?

Dog treats overnight, dog treats? Why don't you just go to fucking Petco? Go to Petco real quick.

• 3:30Speaker 03

Because it's easier for Amazon. It's overnight. It comes at four in the morning. I wake up and it's there.

• 3:35Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but you'd have Petco that evening. Okay, doesn't even matter anyway. Either way, we'd be shopping. I mean, if it's just dog treats every once in a while, that's not the craziest thing in the world.

• 3:43Speaker 03

I buy dog treats like every day. I don't know. I mean, I know.

• 3:47Caleb Hammer?

How many dogs do you have?

• 3:49Speaker 03

Uh, well, I have my dog and I also take care of puppies and then my diet.

• 3:53Caleb Hammer?

  That's your job?

• 3:54Speaker 03

Uh, it's my, it's like my side.

• 3:55Caleb Hammer?

Wait. What do you do for a living? That's my usual first question.

• 3:59Speaker 03

So I handle accounts receivable, accounts receivable for an engineering firm.

• 4:04Caleb Hammer?

  What do you make?

• 4:06Speaker 03

  Twenty-two dollars an hour.

• 4:07Caleb Hammer?

  What's the scoff?

• 4:09Speaker 03

I literally can't believe people show up for twenty-two dollars an hour.

• 4:12Caleb Hammer?

Do you show up for twenty-two dollars an hour?

• 4:14Speaker 03

Yeah, but I don't want to.

• 4:17Caleb Hammer?

But you do, why, why are you calling out other people? You do.

• 4:22Speaker 03

  Right. It's just not.

• 4:24Caleb Hammer?

How many hours a week do you work when you show up?

• 4:26Speaker 03

  I'm supposed.

• 4:26Caleb Hammer?

That you can't believe people do.

• 4:28Speaker 03

I'm supposed to be there for forty hours. I usually swing about thirty-five.

• 4:33Caleb Hammer?

I usually swing about thirty-five if it's supposed to be forty.

• 4:36Speaker 03

Because I'm doing like my dog stuff on the side. I have.

• 4:39Caleb Hammer?

Oh, do you get paid for that?

• 4:41Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 4:41Caleb Hammer?

Okay, if you get paid for that, then I mean, it's fine. But twenty-two dollars an hour, you're saying. I can't believe people show up. Why the do you have that job then?

• 4:49Speaker 03

I guess because it's hard to find something more than that.

• 4:52Caleb Hammer?

I mean, if you don't have skills or resume capabilities or interview techniques, yeah.

• 4:59Speaker 03

Well, I'm looking, I'm actively looking for more than twenty-two dollars.

• 5:02Caleb Hammer?

Well, I'm glad you look at the jobs.

• 5:04Speaker 03

  I'm actively applying for jobs.

• 5:06Caleb Hammer?

With a good resume, with good interview skills that have been practiced, that are.

• 5:10Speaker 03

I would say a good interview.

• 5:11Caleb Hammer?

I mean, twenty-six, okay. I would suggest, I would believe you'd have some job experience with that.

• 5:16Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 5:17Caleb Hammer?

So what's the issue? How long have we been looking?

• 5:20Speaker 03

Uh, since I got hired at this job, so maybe like seven months.

• 5:23Caleb Hammer?

You've been looking for seven months?

• 5:25Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 5:26Caleb Hammer?

What are you looking for if twenty-two dollars an hour isn't acceptable to you? What hits your account on a monthly basis from this job?

• 5:31Speaker 03

  Hmm, maybe like three-ish, thirty-two.

• 5:36Caleb Hammer?

  Why aren't you surviving?

• 5:38Speaker 03

  Because my, I, everything's expensive.

• 5:41Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, maybe don't buy the expensive things.

• 5:43Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 5:44Caleb Hammer?

That's what the rest of us do if we can't afford something.

• 5:46Speaker 03

That makes sense, for sure, but.

• 5:48Caleb Hammer?

  Then.

• 5:49Speaker 03

  Quality, I like quality.

• 5:52Speaker 03

  Stuff.

• 5:55Caleb Hammer?

Uh huh. Like, the word, the word you just used was like.

• 6:00Speaker 03

  Quality.

• 6:02Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but you said you like.

• 6:04Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah, yeah.

• 6:04Caleb Hammer?

Like, it's, it, okay, that's not a necessity. If it's not a necessity, well.

• 6:09Speaker 03

It makes you comfy, though. Don't you like being comfy?

• 6:14Speaker 03

  Right?

• 6:16Speaker 03

Expensive stuff's comfy and quality and lasts longer.

• 6:21Caleb Hammer?

What are you doing? You're smirking.

• 6:23Speaker 03

I'm trying to convince you that it's not necessarily that bad.

• 6:29Caleb Hammer?

Why the are you on this show then?

• 6:30Speaker 03

  I'm literally a dumb bitch.

• 6:32Caleb Hammer?

Did you hear what you just said in the last thirty seconds?

• 6:35Speaker 03

That I like dumb quality shit.

• 6:37Caleb Hammer?

You're correct that you're a dumb bitch if what you just said in the last thirty seconds is what you believe and then you just said you want to get out of this and want to change. The beyond, beyond conflicting statements. You said that guys getting expensive stuff is so cute, so cutesy. I really want to change. The fuck are you talking about?

• 6:56Speaker 03

  Why can't I have both?

• 6:58Caleb Hammer?

  Math?

• 6:59Speaker 03

True, but what if we do the math so I can have some nice and then cut out?

• 7:05Caleb Hammer?

So why haven't you budgeted that then?

• 7:07Speaker 03

I'm trying. I don't know. I've cut out like a lot of stuff.

• 7:11Caleb Hammer?

What the fuck is your personality? What the fuck is that?

• 7:13Speaker 03

  What?

• 7:14Caleb Hammer?

Oh, my gosh. I've okay. I've only met a couple of people like you.

• 7:17Speaker 03

  Oh, my God.

• 7:18Caleb Hammer?

This is what kills me is like I'm like seeing their personality for the first time in my life where you like that goofball. You have that goofball energy. Take it fucking serious.

• 7:28Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 7:28Caleb Hammer?

  See?

• 7:29Speaker 03

I'm taking it very seriously. I do have a lot of debt and I do need to get out of it. I also need to stop buying dumb.

• 7:35Caleb Hammer?

  Then why don't you?

• 7:37Speaker 03

Cause it's easy to buy dumb.

• 7:40Caleb Hammer?

I understand it's easy. Why are you not putting in mechanisms? Why are we not putting in coping skills? Why are we not putting in a budget? Why are we not putting in an effort? I know it is easy. I know it is easy. We got that. We have established. Why aren't you doing anything to prevent you or fucking just cause something is easy doesn't mean you do it. It's easy to go jump off the roof if you want to. Doesn't mean you fucking do. So why aren't you doing anything to counteract it if you actually want to change?

• 8:09Speaker 03

The most real answer is that I'm a dumb bitch. That's not going to get me very far and I need to stop being a dumb bitch for sure.

• 8:15Caleb Hammer?

Oh, my gosh. Do you have a real answer? Like why you haven't done anything? What have you tried to do and it hasn't worked?

• 8:21Speaker 03

I've locked some of my credit cards, so I can't spend them like my Apple card and I switched my T-Mobile to like Mint Mobile. So that saves me a bunch of money.

• 8:29Caleb Hammer?

Bunch of money? That's a step, right?

• 8:32Speaker 03

Mm hmm. I feel like I'm in the moving slowly in the correct direction.

• 8:36Caleb Hammer?

Which is why we spent double what you made last month. That's slowly in the right direction.

• 8:43Speaker 03

  Slowly, slow.

• 8:46Caleb Hammer?

Oh, there she is. She's trying to be cute, guys. It's so fucking cool. You're looking good and you're looking great on camera right now. Everyone's really appreciating your cutesy little attitude.

• 8:58Caleb Hammer?

Okay. So fuck you. This isn't slowly moving in the right direction unless you're spending four times, three times your income. Now you're spending two times and we're like, yay. No, you don't get a high five for that. What are you doing? Three thousand two hundred sixty-six dollars came in and that adds up with what you said. That was through payroll and then we had Cash App three hundred thirty. Was that the dog stuff?

• 9:22Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 9:23Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, so three hundred.

• 9:27Caleb Hammer?

  Three thousand six hundred dollars.

• 9:31Caleb Hammer?

Okay. Not horrible. But you could be making more if you went and actually I'm confused. Okay. Did you have a job before this, before this job that you looked down upon?

• 9:43Speaker 03

  Yes, so.

• 9:45Caleb Hammer?

So what is your work experience? What can we turn into an effective resume?

• 9:48Speaker 03

Okay, so from the time that I was nineteen to twenty-five, I was a contract coordinator for a real estate investment company. And I worked there for seven years. So, and I was making so much money there. I was making thirty-five dollars an hour.

• 10:02Caleb Hammer?

  Why'd you change?

• 10:03Speaker 03

  Uh, I got fired.

• 10:06Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 10:08Speaker 03

  Honestly?

• 10:09Caleb Hammer?

Oh, here comes when someone says honestly and then they don't say the honest thing. Yeah, go for it.

• 10:13Speaker 03

Honestly, I think it was some petty shit.

• 10:16Caleb Hammer?

  There it is. What?

• 10:18Speaker 03

I mean, the boss was kind of like an old, groomy, weird man and there was only two.

• 10:23Caleb Hammer?

I don't know what that means in that context. Is it internet grooming where they never use the word correct? Or is that he didn't take care of his facial hair?

• 10:31Speaker 03

  No, like. Childhood grooming.

• 10:33Caleb Hammer?

Internet grooming where they never use the word correct. Sure, okay.

• 10:36Speaker 03

Okay, yes. He was a creepy weird man.

• 10:39Caleb Hammer?

Did he literally separate people from their entire support system from an underage? Way in order to take them away from their support system once they turned of age and then?

• 10:54Caleb Hammer?

Slept with them, but they could never leave because they no longer have a support system? Did he literally groom them? Or were we just using that word because he was a little weird?

• 11:02Speaker 03

It was a little bit less than how you described it.

• 11:04Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so let's not use words we don't mean. This isn't Twitter.

• 11:07Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 11:07Caleb Hammer?

Words have real world consequences. Stop being a sensationalist.

• 11:12Speaker 03

Gotcha. He was a weird man. A weird four year old man.

• 11:16Caleb Hammer?

There you go. A real. Okay, so he was weird.

• 11:19Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 11:20Caleb Hammer?

I believe this started with you got fired from a job.

• 11:23Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 11:23Caleb Hammer?

So why are we talking about a weird man?

• 11:25Speaker 03

Cause he was my boss. He was the owner of the company. Um, he was weird and he was mean and he was psychotic. And.

• 11:35Caleb Hammer?

Go on. Now we're using more buzzwords real quick. Let's, let's, what was he actually? What was he actually? What did he do that would define those things?

• 11:42Speaker 03

Uh, he would come in and scream at everyone.

• 11:44Caleb Hammer?

Scream why? What was the reason?

• 11:46Speaker 03

He would literally call people like, tell you like, are you fucking stupid? Like, why'd you fucking do this? Like, you don't know what you're fucking doing.

• 11:52Caleb Hammer?

Certainly what Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos has done, and they built great companies. I'm not defending it, but that is what other people have done. That's not how I like to do it and it doesn't feel good. I agree, but we're using the word psychotic and we're doing a lot of things. So go ahead. Why did he do it? What was the reason though?

• 12:08Speaker 03

The reason why I was fired, the actual reason I was fired was.

• 12:11Caleb Hammer?

  No, why was he yelling?

• 12:12Speaker 03

Oh, he was unstable, like bipolar.

• 12:15Caleb Hammer?

What was the reason? What was the reason he yelled? Yeah, but what was the thing that caused? I'm asking.

• 12:21Speaker 03

  Uh.

• 12:22Caleb Hammer?

I'm not defending it, but let's have more context because you sound like the person that starts a Twitter thread.

• 12:27Speaker 03

Um, he would come in at 10 o'clock and when we were supposed to be there at eight and just scream at everyone.

• 12:37Caleb Hammer?

Uh, why though? What happened before?

• 12:39Speaker 03

Are you guys on the phone? Why aren't you on the phone?

• 12:42Caleb Hammer?

Were you supposed to be on the phone?

• 12:43Speaker 03

  Not me particularly, but.

• 12:45Caleb Hammer?

  The person who told to?

• 12:46Speaker 03

  Yeah, the bullpen.

• 12:47Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, so that's the reason.

• 12:48Speaker 03

It's just, I don't feel like that's like the way to handle it.

• 12:50Caleb Hammer?

No, I, I agree. It's not the proper way to handle it. However, it wasn't he, I agree. However, it's not like he just went in and he just started screaming for no reason. That was his leadership method wasn't good. You're allowed to leave it. It is not illegal. So.

• 13:04Speaker 03

  So that just didn't feel

• 13:05Caleb Hammer?

So that's why you got fired?

• 13:07Speaker 03

  No.

• 13:07Caleb Hammer?

Because the boss yelled at people for not doing their job?

• 13:10Speaker 03

That's not why I got fired, but that definitely set the stage for my time at the job. I was constantly on edge. I always felt like I was gonna get fired and then I did. After seven years, I was making thirty five dollars an hour plus bonus.

• 13:24Caleb Hammer?

Yep, which by the way, I mean, you make the per capita income in Cape Coral. Congratulations, even though you scoffed at what you make, but

• 13:30Speaker 03

I just don't, I can't believe people live on it.

• 13:32Caleb Hammer?

Okay, well, the median per capita income does.

• 13:37Speaker 03

It's crazy. It's, that's just not a lot of money.

• 13:40Caleb Hammer?

It's not a lot of money, it's livable.

• 13:45Speaker 03

I don't feel like it is.

• 13:47Caleb Hammer?

Ah, it's livable. Average rent in that area for a one bedroom apartment is about a thousand six hundred fifty two dollars. Utilities, we can take in about two hundred for electricity, plus approximately two hundred for phone and internet services. Uh, food, groceries going about hun- one percent higher than the national average there, and we can range that from four hundred to six hundred. I could get you at about three hundred. Gasoline looking at three dollars and thirty nine cents per gallon. So we're looking at four hundred seventy a month. Doctor's visit, maybe a hundred fifty eight per appointment. Monthly healthcare costs one fifty seven for a single adult. Uh, put all that together, you would have a surplus of about six thousand dollars. Yeah, you can survive.

• 14:30Caleb Hammer?

You're not because you prefer cozy and then you get fired for something you haven't been able to define yet.

• 14:37Speaker 03

I can tell you how I got fired.

• 14:38Caleb Hammer?

I would love to hear that.

• 14:39Speaker 03

  I've up a contract.

• 14:41Caleb Hammer?

Okay, sounds like you should have got fired and it wasn't for petty, I'd fire someone too if they were their job and replace them with someone who's not their job. Because you're here to literally do a job.

• 14:51Speaker 03

But I was there for seven years.

• 14:52Caleb Hammer?

I don't care, doesn't matter. Why the would that matter? It doesn't.

• 14:55Speaker 03

  Feel like I have like

• 14:56Caleb Hammer?

No, if you do not perform, why would they not replace you with someone who would make the same amount of money and will perform better? I mean, think about it logically. This isn't, you're not a fucking teachers' union.

• 15:06Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 15:07Caleb Hammer?

You don't have that protection and you shouldn't. It's the fucking free market.

• 15:11Speaker 03

Yeah, but I just felt like after seven years, I was the longest, there was only like three employees that were there a lot long.

• 15:16Caleb Hammer?

Does, it lit- that literally doesn't matter.

• 15:19Speaker 03

I felt like I was the best person for the job if I'm there.

• 15:21Caleb Hammer?

Well, you weren't because you were fired because you did wrong.

• 15:23Speaker 03

But I fucked up one thing after seven years.

• 15:25Caleb Hammer?

Was it a big fuck up?

• 15:27Speaker 03

  Kind of.

• 15:27Caleb Hammer?

Well, there you go. You know what that does? You know what that does? And I only fully realized this in the position I'm in now. He can no longer trust you. And when you lose the trust of someone to take care of things that are huge. And you can't reliably put important.

• 16:14Caleb Hammer?

  And work on them.

• 16:16Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 16:17Caleb Hammer?

But so I would rather that person not be here. And replace them with someone that I can trust. If you break the trust, it's hard to earn trust back in that way. It is a long time and maybe I wouldn't, you know, do that after one instance. But if the person feels like he can no longer trust, it's his organization.

• 16:34Speaker 03

  Yeah, but still that sucks.

• 16:36Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, my gosh.

• 16:37Speaker 03

It hurts my heart. I was there for seven years.

• 16:39Caleb Hammer?

Yes, you're fired. No one likes getting fired.

• 16:41Speaker 03

I grew up there from 19 to 25.

• 16:44Caleb Hammer?

Okay. You're not going to get tears from me. That I mean, that's, that's the world of the job market. I like that sucks. People get laid off all the time. It's a bummer. And you can leave companies for a higher paying job. They can have you leave. You can leave on your own. It's like, don't take it personally. It's business.

• 17:00Speaker 03

  I take everything personally.

• 17:01Caleb Hammer?

Well, that's not, you're not going to get places with that. Good luck.

• 17:07Caleb Hammer?

So I can understand how your current wage now, which it's kind of a little gross how you look down on it. I'll be honest, that rubbed me the wrong way and why I'm being a little intense. Uh, cause ew, what the is like 22. It's not, I say living in luxury, no, but survivable for your situation, for your cost of living area. Either way.

• 17:29Caleb Hammer?

Yes, you were making a lot more then. So I can see how now it feels like you're struggling because it is a substantial cut.

• 17:36Speaker 03

  Huge.

• 17:37Caleb Hammer?

But you need to adapt to it and it is your choice to not adapt to it.

• 17:43Speaker 03

  Correct.

• 17:45Speaker 03

But it's hard and I know that's not a good excuse. I know that's not a good excuse.

• 17:49Caleb Hammer?

It is hard. Things are hard all the time.

• 17:51Speaker 03

  For sure.

• 17:52Caleb Hammer?

Are you just gonna give up?

• 17:53Speaker 03

  No.

• 17:53Caleb Hammer?

If you wanna give up, let's just move on.

• 17:55Speaker 03

No, I don't wanna give up.

• 17:56Caleb Hammer?

Let's just move up, go home.

• 17:56Speaker 03

I wanna pay my credit card off.

• 17:58Caleb Hammer?

If it's hard, put up with it. Put in the hard work. If it's hard and we give up, then just give up.

• 18:05Speaker 03

  I don't want to, though.

• 18:06Caleb Hammer?

Okay, but you've done nothing. And I'm not a magic pill.

• 18:12Speaker 03

I got a new job. You know, I didn't stay unemployed. Not, you know, I got the twenty-two dollars an hour job after the-

• 18:18Caleb Hammer?

Yes, but you're looking down upon that job. I'm not.

• 18:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 18:22Caleb Hammer?

And you have to adapt to that new income. You're not always gonna start at the top of an organization. You're not always gonna start seven years into an organization.

• 18:29Speaker 03

  I know.

• 18:29Caleb Hammer?

Sometimes you have to start at the floor and move your way up. That is natural and that is okay.

• 18:33Speaker 03

Do you think eight months is a long time without getting a raise?

• 18:35Caleb Hammer?

  No.

• 18:36Speaker 03

  Really?

• 18:36Caleb Hammer?

  No.

• 18:37Speaker 03

I was expecting a raise within three months.

• 18:39Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 18:40Speaker 03

Because I'm good at my job.

• 18:41Caleb Hammer?

It's a little weird entitlement. No, a lot of people don't get a raise for like the first year.

• 18:46Speaker 03

  Jesus. I don't know. I'm not, I'm, I've only had one job.

• 18:50Caleb Hammer?

You got raises every three months?

• 18:51Speaker 03

Literally, I went from fifteen to sixteen to eighteen to nineteen to twenty to twenty-five with bonus.

• 18:57Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, you were there for seven years. That doesn't, that sounds like maybe yearly raises.

• 19:01Speaker 03

Like two years, three years, and then I got capped out. Like that's-

• 19:04Caleb Hammer?

  Capped out?

• 19:05Speaker 03

  Like-

• 19:05Caleb Hammer?

  They had a cap.

• 19:07Speaker 03

Not cap on commission, but like cap on hourly for me.

• 19:09Caleb Hammer?

They had a cap, a cap for you or a cap for everyone?

• 19:12Speaker 03

  I didn't, I don't know what everyone else made.

• 19:14Caleb Hammer?

Okay, yeah, it sounds like you were potentially underperforming for the last few years because they did not raise your wage.

• 19:19Speaker 03

I mean, my Christmas bonus went up every year.

• 19:22Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, that's just them being nice in the Christmas spirit. They kept your wage the same, meaning you were likely not providing value. And let's be honest.

• 19:32Caleb Hammer?

I, I know, it sounds so f***ing like tribal and it sounds so, you know-

• 19:40Caleb Hammer?

  evolutionary but

• 19:43Caleb Hammer?

the thing is it is kind of just metrics in the end right it's like if there are other people around you performing better the raises are going to go to them you are not entitled to them certainly after three months and if you're getting capped out couple years in and then you're going four years no raises that should tell you something

• 20:03Speaker 03

I was making so much money that they were like oh we're not gonna pay her anymore because I was making so much money

• 20:07Caleb Hammer?

uh listen I don't know this guy and he comes in screaming screaming screaming and we've all had emotional days and like things will happen in high stress situations okay I get that but he sounds like someone that you know maybe not be be the best leader but what most leaders do is even if you're making a lot of money they will give you a raise if you're a high performer because they want to keep you there and because they also just want to I mean that I mean that's the big one

• 20:35Speaker 03

so I guess I was not doing as good as I thought I was

• 20:37Caleb Hammer?

yes which is why you're actually fired not because it's some petty bull

• 20:41Speaker 03

  it felt like petty bull

• 20:42Caleb Hammer?

  what how was it petty

• 20:45Speaker 03

  it just felt

• 20:45Caleb Hammer?

let's talk about student loans I know it's something we all want to avoid talking about but if your private student loans are crushing you why refi might be exactly what you need they don't rely on your credit score alone they look for borrowers who have the desire and ability to repay that's a game changer in a market where most lenders only see a number interest rates under 6% guaranteed that's practically a unicorn in student lending plus they offer structured payment plans to lower your monthly bill and even a cosign a release program so your mom or dad can step off the hook why refi is known for personal service no faceless call centers you get a dedicated rep that she cares about your progress they've got a 4.6 star rating on Google which tells you people genuinely like working with them

• 21:30Caleb Hammer?

so if your private loans are burying you it's time to reach out why refi wants to help you climb out of debt not push you further in it check them out at whyrefi.com/hammer that is y r e f y dot com slash hammer or call triple eight why refi dash 78 that is Triple eight Y refi dash seventy eight. Break free from the high interest trap and get your finances under control once and for all. If it was petty, there would have been something that would required it to be petty. Like there would have been something that rubbed them the wrong way that wasn't fireable, but then they use this as a reason to fire you. That would be petty.

• 22:08Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 22:08Caleb Hammer?

Was there that cuz you have not told me?

• 22:11Speaker 03

In my opinion, it was petty because there was one other girl in the office. She started getting super, it was like your typical friggin office story. The, there's two admins and the owner, the owner starts hanging out with the two girls. Um, you know, I didn't really understand what was going on cuz I was nineteen, she's three years older than me. He was married, started sleeping with her.

• 22:32Caleb Hammer?

Nineteen year olds don't understand sex?

• 22:34Speaker 03

  I mean, I didn't.

• 22:34Caleb Hammer?

You really are a fucking Twitter user. Keep going.

• 22:38Speaker 03

Um, and then they started boning, he got divorced from his wife and then they got.

• 22:44Caleb Hammer?

And you really didn't understand any of this at nineteen?

• 22:46Speaker 03

  No.

• 22:47Caleb Hammer?

Maybe we should raise the age of everything to twenty five cuz wow, these people are not maturing as quick as we did literally just ten years ago.

• 22:54Speaker 03

  I agree, I, I'm a dumb, like, I don't wanna keep saying I'm a dumb, like, I don't.

• 22:58Caleb Hammer?

I don't think you're, I don't know if it's dumb, I think you're literally at the mental state of a child. I think you just.

• 23:06Caleb Hammer?

It's not a good thing, it's very unhealthy.

• 23:08Speaker 03

  For sure.

• 23:10Caleb Hammer?

I'm glad you agree. Wish you would do anything about it. Okay, so you didn't understand that the penis went in the vagina, keep going.

• 23:17Speaker 03

I just didn't understand like why he would be hanging out with us and then why they started hanging out and then it just got kind of like competitive. It felt like she didn't want another girl in the office, that's what it felt like to me. That's why I feel.

• 23:28Caleb Hammer?

Why are you getting that vibe other than the fact that they were boning?

• 23:31Speaker 03

Cuz she was being kind of a bitch.

• 23:33Caleb Hammer?

Oh, she was being a bitch to you?

• 23:34Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 23:35Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 23:35Speaker 03

After they started seeing each other.

• 23:36Caleb Hammer?

  Were you being a bitch?

• 23:37Speaker 03

No, we were friends, like we used to hang out, we used to go out to like Busch Gardens together and dinner and like all kinds of stuff.

• 23:42Caleb Hammer?

And she got the right to hire and fire?

• 23:44Speaker 03

No. She, she's not the one that fired me.

• 23:47Caleb Hammer?

Then why, how would it have been petty then?

• 23:49Speaker 03

Because she was boss, she just has to go to the boss and be like, uh. Oh, fuck.

• 23:56Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, she was right about.

• 24:01Caleb Hammer?

So what is your future then?

• 24:04Speaker 03

Um, I would like to continue my business, but.

• 24:08Caleb Hammer?

  Business, the dog stuff?

• 24:10Speaker 03

  Yeah, the.

• 24:12Caleb Hammer?

The three hundred hours a month?

• 24:13Speaker 03

Well, that's how much I claim on like Cash App and like Venmo and stuff, but I get paid cash sometimes.

• 24:17Caleb Hammer?

Well, no, that's how much, no, that's how much, oh.

• 24:20Speaker 03

  That I don't necessarily deposit.

• 24:22Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, go on.

• 24:24Speaker 03

I'm not saying that I'm making like a ton of livable money, but like if I could continue to do that. I'm just, I'm not really good at running my business.

• 24:34Caleb Hammer?

Well, you spend double what you make in your personal life. I bet that would translate in your business as well if you're making good money in your business.

• 24:39Speaker 03

  For sure.

• 24:40Caleb Hammer?

  Keep going.

• 24:40Speaker 03

Um, yeah, I just, I don't know how to do it. I don't know how to get better. I don't know how to, my logistics are off.

• 24:47Caleb Hammer?

What don't you know how to get better? What, what?

• 24:49Speaker 03

Running my business, owning my business.

• 24:51Caleb Hammer?

  What part?

• 24:51Speaker 03

My pricing, my schedule, like I have a hard time.

• 24:54Caleb Hammer?

Have you looked up median pricing for your area?

• 24:56Speaker 03

Yes, but I'm just, I feel bad. Like I charge everyone pretty much like different stuff. Like I will go like three hours north and charge someone like fifty dollars a night to sleep at their house. And then charge someone a hundred dollars. I don't know. I just, I just say whatever. I have a really.

• 25:10Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 25:10Speaker 03

  Super unorganized.

• 25:11Caleb Hammer?

Well, there's one, charge the market demands.

• 25:16Speaker 03

Yeah, that's a change I need to make. And I'd also like to.

• 25:20Caleb Hammer?

It's a pretty basic one that you also again have already recognized. I'm, I'm confused. This conversation is so confusing. You recognize all these things, yet you do none of it. I feel like this is a repeated pattern.

• 25:29Speaker 03

Well, the clients I have, I've had since I've started and I just feel really bad about charging them something different or even bringing that up.

• 25:35Caleb Hammer?

So you'll go out of business and never do this full time. Congratulations.

• 25:38Speaker 03

  But I don't want to. I wanna.

• 25:40Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so choose one. What do you want to do?

• 25:42Speaker 03

I wanna big dog up and get my shit together.

• 25:44Caleb Hammer?

So big dog up and get your shit together.

• 25:47Speaker 03

I don't know how. I can change my pricing for sure.

• 25:49Caleb Hammer?

Tell them I'm changing my pricing.

• 25:51Speaker 03

But that's not gonna be the only thing that helps my business. I would like to get better at like zoning in on my clients rather than like I said, driving three hours north or an hour south.

• 26:03Caleb Hammer?

So zone in. What do you need to do to get better at that?

• 26:06Speaker 03

How do I tell my clients that I already have that I can't help them anymore?

• 26:10Caleb Hammer?

  I can't help you anymore.

• 26:11Speaker 03

I feel bad. I know I need to.

• 26:13Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah. I'm sorry. It's it's it's it's business.

• 26:18Speaker 03

  I know, I know.

• 26:19Caleb Hammer?

At that point, you're not fucking someone over. You're just saying you don't want to drive three hours anymore. It's not like you are truly you're like you're breaking ripping up a contract.

• 26:27Speaker 03

  It feels like breaking up.

• 26:28Caleb Hammer?

But you're but you're not. If it was, that'd be a different situation. If we signed a contract and you were just ripping it to treads, yeah, that'd be but this is just you're a contractor to them, you know, it's like they're just gonna find another person on Fiverr if that I'm assuming that's it's like that, right?

• 26:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 26:45Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, I have a dog person. One moved. So I got a new one. And she's better.

• 26:51Speaker 03

  Really? Not well.

• 26:53Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 26:54Caleb Hammer?

  Was stuck around longer.

• 26:56Speaker 03

I I just, yeah, I need to get better. I'm not good at that.

• 27:00Caleb Hammer?

Well, yeah, apparently in any aspect because

• 27:03Speaker 03

  I'm not.

• 27:03Caleb Hammer?

You need to get better in a lot of things and you know what you're doing wrong and the solutions are pretty basic, yet you do none of them. Uh.

• 27:12Speaker 03

I need some fire under my.

• 27:17Caleb Hammer?

  What would that be?

• 27:18Speaker 03

  Someone telling.

• 27:19Caleb Hammer?

In this. Oh, come on, dude. You can get the literally this is the most basic in the world. Anyone would tell you this. This this shouldn't change anything. I shouldn't have to tell you this. I really shouldn't. This I mean, there might be a budgeting thing in here. We'll make a budget by the end, but so far this is you just being a child and that's just like

• 27:40Caleb Hammer?

  grow up.

• 27:41Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 27:41Caleb Hammer?

  That's it. For sake.

• 27:44Speaker 03

How do I grow up if I've been this like I've been like this for 26 years? What am I supposed to do?

• 27:49Caleb Hammer?

Dude, it's all whatever coping mechanisms and ways to get yourself into discipline, you have to do you experiment with different things. Do you find things that work? Maybe you don't deserve any of this.

• 28:02Speaker 03

  I'm I think I do. I'm trying.

• 28:04Caleb Hammer?

  You don't do anything.

• 28:06Speaker 03

I'm doing the thing. I'm just not doing the thing to make everything better.

• 28:09Caleb Hammer?

Exactly, which is critical. Like if you're not self improving in life, I have no respects for you as a human being.

• 28:15Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 28:16Caleb Hammer?

Care for you as a human, but no respects for you.

• 28:23Caleb Hammer?

I guess we should get into this. Anything else I need to know before jumping into this decent stack of debt?

• 28:30Speaker 03

Well, I do own a house, a condo.

• 28:32Caleb Hammer?

  Really?

• 28:33Speaker 03

I know. For for an immature little bitch, I own a condo.

• 28:36Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 28:38Speaker 03

Which I think is cool. Um, it's owner financed, which again, I don't really know what all that means, but I know that I got a pretty sick deal on it.

• 28:46Caleb Hammer?

You have to produce a deal?

• 28:47Speaker 03

No, no, no. I said I got like a sick deal on it. I feel.

• 28:49Caleb Hammer?

  Tell me.

• 28:51Speaker 03

I feel like I'm basically just renting it.

• 28:53Caleb Hammer?

  Tell me the deal.

• 28:55Speaker 03

All I had to do, well, my rent was like twenty two hundred.

• 28:59Caleb Hammer?

  Tell me the deal, dude.

• 29:01Speaker 03

My mortgage was only twelve hundred and it sounded like a really good deal. And then my HOA fees went from.

• 29:07Caleb Hammer?

Why'd you say was, was, were, was, were? Is your mortgage? What's your mortgage right now?

• 29:13Speaker 03

My mortgage is twelve hundred, but I.

• 29:15Caleb Hammer?

So this is a debt. Okay, first debt, house, condo. Yes, good, love it. Is it in an area where there's lots of condos or is it kind of in a neighborhood of houses?

• 29:26Speaker 03

It's all condos. It's like old people. Um, but condos really, that really fucked me up. Like, I wish I would have bought a house.

• 29:35Caleb Hammer?

  A condo fucked you up?

• 29:36Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 29:37Caleb Hammer?

  Was it the stairs?

• 29:41Speaker 03

No, it's just the HOA. It's just terrible.

• 29:44Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, so what's your mortgage?

• 29:45Speaker 03

  Twelve hundred.

• 29:46Caleb Hammer?

  What's the HOA?

• 29:47Speaker 03

  Six hundred.

• 29:48Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, I mean, you got a condo.

• 29:50Speaker 03

But it was only four hundred when I closed.

• 29:52Caleb Hammer?

Doesn't matter. They always go up.

• 29:53Speaker 03

  In a year?

• 29:54Caleb Hammer?

Do a little bit of research, yes.

• 29:55Speaker 03

  That's crazy.

• 29:56Caleb Hammer?

Well, also, big expenses can come up if they need to replace a roof or fix a pool. Get ready for a big chunk of money to be due in like six months or something. Yeah, they can do that.

• 30:05Speaker 03

I know. I already paid an assessment of two thousand. It's just like constantly.

• 30:09Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah, condos can be.

• 30:11Speaker 03

  Yeah, I wish.

• 30:11Caleb Hammer?

First month of property, but it was a kind of horrible mistake.

• 30:14Speaker 03

Yeah, terrible. I completely regret it every day.

• 30:17Caleb Hammer?

What's the interest rate? Is there an interest rate?

• 30:21Caleb Hammer?

  When'd you get it?

• 30:22Speaker 03

Uh, November twenty twenty three, I closed.

• 30:31Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, I could see you getting a rate around there for the

• 30:34Speaker 03

The bank was offering me nine percent and the people that owned it offered me eight percent.

• 30:38Caleb Hammer?

What was your credit? What's your deal? What's the term? How much you owe them?

• 30:41Speaker 03

Um, I'm not really sure. I pay them $1,200 a month. I think last I checked, I think last time I checked it was like

• 30:48Caleb Hammer?

  What was the purchase price?

• 30:49Speaker 03

  One eighty.

• 30:49Caleb Hammer?

  What did you put down?

• 30:50Speaker 03

  Ten.

• 30:52Caleb Hammer?

Percent or thousand? Okay, it's you, it's one sixty-nine is probably what you owe on it.

• 30:59Speaker 03

Yeah, I think it's one six something.

• 31:01Caleb Hammer?

  Is it a thirty-year term?

• 31:02Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 31:06Caleb Hammer?

Okay. This is a fun one. I get to get you free money and then I get to get myself free money. It's a pure win-win for both of us. What do you have to do? • 31:49Speaker 03

I thought it was a good idea.

• 31:52Speaker 03

I had the money in my bank. I had the ten thousand, which I thought was awesome. My rent at the time was about twenty-three

• 31:59Caleb Hammer?

Did you have an emergency fund beyond that?

• 32:00Speaker 03

  I did at the time.

• 32:01Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, at the time.

• 32:03Speaker 03

A lot's changed since I was making a hundred thousand dollars.

• 32:07Caleb Hammer?

  Keep going, stay on track.

• 32:08Speaker 03

  Um.

• 32:11Speaker 03

I was, my rent was twenty-three hundred plus, you know, my utilities and stuff. The deal was presented to me by my coworker at the time, like, hey, we're selling this condo.

• 32:20Caleb Hammer?

  It was your coworker?

• 32:21Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 32:22Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, for fuck.

• 32:23Speaker 03

  Yeah. Big fucking mistake.

• 32:26Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah.

• 32:26Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 32:27Caleb Hammer?

That's weird. Not your coworker now, though.

• 32:29Speaker 03

  Correct. My previous coworker.

• 32:30Caleb Hammer?

Okay, not the coworker that was from the boss.

• 32:33Speaker 03

No, different, but same job. Um.

• 32:37Speaker 03

They were like, oh, your rent's twenty-three hundred and all your utilities, like, we can get you this, you know, it'll be down to twelve hundred just a month. And you know, and you'll, you'll be owning it, basically. Uh, I didn't really look into the fees or what all that meant.

• 32:53Speaker 03

Yeah, it seems like a really good deal when you're paying twenty-three hundred plus utilities to go to twelve hundred plus utilities and a four hundred dollar.

• 33:00Caleb Hammer?

Why aren't you looking into every, I'm so confused.

• 33:03Speaker 03

  I mean,

• 33:05Speaker 03

I didn't really know. I just, you know, like, people, you can, people will let you sign any paperwork.

• 33:10Caleb Hammer?

It's worth a hundred fifty thousand dollars, according to Zillow, and Zillow usually overestimates, so. You'd certainly be losing money if you needed to sell it today. Yeah, it's only gone down in value since you bought it.

• 33:21Speaker 03

Yeah, it's awful. I'm, I'm listing it, like, I'm listing it and I know I'm not gonna make any money. I just want to wash my hands of this thing completely. I hate it. It's one of the worst things I've ever done.

• 33:31Caleb Hammer?

It says it was sold for one ninety-six.

• 33:33Speaker 03

Oh, yeah, then that was me, one ninety-six. I thought it was one eighty.

• 33:40Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, for

• 33:41Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 33:41Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, for fuck's sake.

• 33:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 33:44Caleb Hammer?

What the, what is wrong with you? That is very different, especially when it's only worth a hundred fifty.

• 33:49Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 33:51Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah.

• 33:52Speaker 03

I, I thought it was one eighty.

• 33:54Caleb Hammer?

Okay, it's probably worth, or you probably, it's, you probably owe on it, one eighty-five.

• 34:00Speaker 03

  Oh, Jesus.

• 34:01Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, you're underwater substantially, and who the is gonna buy a condo with that kind of fee?

• 34:07Speaker 03

  I agree.

• 34:08Caleb Hammer?

  That's on the gun.

• 34:10Speaker 03

I know, it makes me sick.

• 34:11Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, I was listed for one fifty. You bought it over.

• 34:16Caleb Hammer?

  Wait.

• 34:19Caleb Hammer?

Wait, you listed it for sale?

• 34:20Speaker 03

Yes. I was gonna talk to you about it, but I was like, you know what, fuck this, I'm just gonna, I'm gonna list it. I need to get out of it. I just got my tax bill.

• 34:28Caleb Hammer?

But, but, but, what do you have, do you have like thirty, forty thousand dollars saved?

• 34:31Speaker 03

  No.

• 34:31Caleb Hammer?

To just pay him? So what the are you planning to do?

• 34:35Speaker 03

  Ask him for help?

• 34:36Caleb Hammer?

  Why is a quiddity?

• 34:38Speaker 03

  I don't know.

• 34:39Caleb Hammer?

  Have you talked to him?

• 34:40Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 34:40Caleb Hammer?

  And?

• 34:41Speaker 03

  Um.

• 34:43Caleb Hammer?

  No, and?

• 34:44Speaker 03

Um. He understands, uh, that I'm working really hard and I'm super stressed and they are talking about what we can do. They're gonna talk to the realtor.

• 34:56Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, they're gonna try to help you to sell it for as much as you owe. But they're not gonna let you walk out of the loan.

• 35:04Speaker 03

Do I just like pay that off?

• 35:06Caleb Hammer?

The loan? Or are you talking about the difference?

• 35:09Speaker 03

  The difference?

• 35:09Caleb Hammer?

One, you're gonna lose likely 6% seller and buyer real estate commission. You're not in a happy seller's market, so you're likely covering those, even though technically you don't have to these days. You can put it on the buyer, but you're not. Uh, so 150.

• 35:32Caleb Hammer?

  So minus 9,000, 150.

• 35:37Caleb Hammer?

Certainly no capital gains taxes on this. Good luck. The 185 you owe. Great. So if you sell, you have to come up with minimum $44,000.

• 35:46Speaker 03

  Forty?

• 35:47Caleb Hammer?

  Four.

• 35:47Speaker 03

  Oh.

• 35:48Caleb Hammer?

  Forty-four.

• 35:49Speaker 03

  Forty-four?

• 35:50Caleb Hammer?

Forty-four. Twenty-one? The fuck are you doing? She's actively doing this. Like right now, it's listed for sale right now. I did not know this. It's listed for sale right fucking now. Oh my gosh, it's gone down in value so much.

• 36:03Speaker 03

I know. It's also in a flood zone, so that's not really...

• 36:06Caleb Hammer?

  Well, it's Florida.

• 36:07Speaker 03

No, but like it's on the water. Like it flooded right before I bought it, four feet of water inside.

• 36:47Caleb Hammer?

What the f- okay, now that you heard that you're gonna have to come up with this, what do you think?

• 36:52Speaker 03

Maybe I can work something else out with them?

• 36:55Caleb Hammer?

  With who?

• 36:56Speaker 03

The people that I'm trying to-

• 36:57Caleb Hammer?

Why the f- would they lose forty-four thousand dollars? Why would they be okay with that?

• 37:01Speaker 03

Well, I think in my head, which we've established isn't the best-

• 37:05Caleb Hammer?

I'm glad you could recognize it without changing it.

• 37:07Speaker 03

  Um-

• 37:08Caleb Hammer?

Interesting, great human characteristic of you.

• 37:10Speaker 03

In my head, he bought it for, I believe, one thirty-

• 37:14Caleb Hammer?

Doesn't matter. This is a loan. This is a loan.

• 37:17Speaker 03

But if I've already paid him, like-

• 37:18Caleb Hammer?

  No.

• 37:19Speaker 03

How much have I paid- well, I don't-

• 37:20Caleb Hammer?

I don't know, but it's all been interest, towards interest.

• 37:24Speaker 03

But isn't he making money off of me? It feels like I'm just paying him rent.

• 37:28Caleb Hammer?

Well, yes, you took out an eight percent loan. He's making eight percent.

• 37:35Speaker 03

  So he's making money?

• 37:36Caleb Hammer?

  Yes.

• 37:37Speaker 03

So why wouldn't he just help me if he's already made money?

• 37:39Caleb Hammer?

  Why would he help-

• 37:40Speaker 03

Because he helped me in the first place.

• 37:41Caleb Hammer?

What am I talking to? Are you not able to see the logic to this? You're not able to see the logic on the employment side, or are you able to see the logic in this? Why, why, wh- unless he's a f- can charity, which he's not, cuz he gave you eight percent. Listen, if he gave you eight percent, I don't think he's someone that's just gonna be like, walk away. He didn't give you four percent or something to keep up with inflation.

• 38:01Speaker 03

But he gave me a better deal than the bank was offering me.

• 38:03Caleb Hammer?

  That doesn't-

• 38:04Speaker 03

It felt like a good deal. He felt like, he felt like a little angel sent from heaven, so why, why can't he do that again for me?

• 38:10Caleb Hammer?

  Why the f- would he?

• 38:12Speaker 03

  To help me?

• 38:13Caleb Hammer?

  Why would he? Really, just-

• 38:15Speaker 03

  For thirty years, hopefully?

• 38:17Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but it was your choice. It was your choice.

• 38:20Speaker 03

It was a really bad choice, for sure.

• 38:21Caleb Hammer?

Yes, it was, but that's not his fault. I'm so confused. What is this world you live in? You live in the weirdest, oh, you're such a COVID child, like, you like, stopped development at twelve. Why, like, you do not live in the real world with the rest of us. Okay.

• 38:37Caleb Hammer?

  Alright!

• 38:39Caleb Hammer?

And then you got a cease and desist for operating your business out of the home?

• 38:42Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 38:44Caleb Hammer?

Oh, so you're trying to build the business and you can't even sell the, you can't get out of the house? You can't build, oh, what the?

• 38:52Speaker 03

  That's how I feel.

• 38:52Caleb Hammer?

From who? Who cease and desist?

• 38:54Speaker 03

  The HOA.

• 38:55Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, and you probably, that's probably correct. Oh, for sake, so you can't do the business because you can't sell the house, but you want to sell, you want to scale the business, but you can't sell the house. Oh, it's so.

• 39:09Speaker 03

  It is fucked.

• 39:10Caleb Hammer?

This is your fault. Should have read over the contract.

• 39:14Speaker 03

  I should have.

• 39:15Caleb Hammer?

Everything in your life you should have, but didn't and won't change.

• 39:19Speaker 03

  Hopefully it will change.

• 39:20Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah, that's how things change.

• 39:23Speaker 03

  That's the first step.

• 39:26Speaker 03

  Right?

• 39:27Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, sure, but you did that, you did the first step of hope forever ago and you've done nothing. So I don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

• 39:32Speaker 03

Well, because I feel like I'm kind of stuck with the condo situation.

• 39:35Caleb Hammer?

  By your choices.

• 39:39Speaker 03

  It's bad.

• 39:40Caleb Hammer?

Yes. What do you think your financial score is? Zero to 10, zero being the worst, 10 being the best? Where do you think you are in this world?

• 39:49Speaker 03

  Two.

• 39:51Caleb Hammer?

Okay, I don't, spending double the income, fucking that underwater on their first house, even though you put $10,000 down? Fucking luck. If you want your score, actually, real estate will probably boost it, but it's not going to be a good real estate score. It's going to be a very bad real estate score. If you want your hammer financial score, see where you stand in the world of finances. Go to Calebhammer.com and go to Calebhammer.com/apply if you want to come on the show. • 40:32Caleb Hammer?

Let's get into the cards, I guess. We already did the mortgage, so let's do this. Wells Fargo, how long does this take to pay off if you only do minimum monthly payments, which? Yeah. And you don't purchase what you're incapable of because you purchased this ton, because of course you did. How long does this take to pay off? Minimum monthly payments only, no spending.

• 40:54Speaker 03

  Are you asking me?

• 40:56Caleb Hammer?

That's why I said, how long?

• 40:58Speaker 03

I don't know how long it would take.

• 41:00Caleb Hammer?

  How long do you think?

• 41:02Speaker 03

  Like, five years?

• 41:04Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, eighteen.

• 41:05Speaker 03

  Eighteen years?

• 41:06Caleb Hammer?

  Eighteen years.

• 41:08Speaker 03

  Holy shit.

• 41:09Caleb Hammer?

Yeah. Yeah, you'll still be in your house by then, too.

• 41:14Speaker 03

  I fucking hope not.

• 41:15Caleb Hammer?

Well, you're right. I mean, you'll probably drown.

• 41:18Speaker 03

  Literally.

• 41:22Speaker 03

  Like, in water. Yeah, literally.

• 41:25Caleb Hammer?

  That's what I was saying.

• 41:27Speaker 03

I didn't know if you meant like drowning in debt, drowning in both senses.

• 41:32Caleb Hammer?

• 42:43Caleb Hammer?

What the f- this is so crazy. What? It's right here. You said this. You know that.

• 43:03Speaker 03

Hmm, I'm scared to know how much I spend on stuff.

• 43:09Speaker 03

  Cause I think it's bad.

• 43:09Caleb Hammer?

That makes it worse. That makes it worse.

• 43:12Speaker 03

I honestly had no idea it was that much.

• 43:16Speaker 03

I didn't even know my monthly payment was 130. I thought it was like 50.

• 44:16Caleb Hammer?

Why are you going camping? You need to be working. Can't take time off or spend money on it. Pork chumps. I'm guessing that's for the dog. Plastic gloves.

• 44:25Speaker 03

  For camping.

• 44:26Caleb Hammer?

You don't need to be, how often are you camping?

• 44:29Speaker 03

Maybe like once every other month.

• 44:31Caleb Hammer?

• 46:55Caleb Hammer?

  doesn't matter you did

• 46:57Speaker 03

I just wish I would have done a little bit more research

• 46:59Caleb Hammer?

you're just gonna hold you're gonna have to hold it Or take a really big loss.

• 47:05Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 47:05Caleb Hammer?

  Substantial loss.

• 47:06Speaker 03

  That sucks.

• 47:07Caleb Hammer?

You can have to hold it. Why? Do you dislike the place?

• 47:09Speaker 03

  I hate it.

• 47:10Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 47:11Speaker 03

The fees, the neighbors, I'm the youngest person.

• 47:14Caleb Hammer?

  What's wrong with the neighbors?

• 47:14Speaker 03

I mean, they're all on the board. The entire board is in my building.

• 47:18Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 47:18Speaker 03

So I have people looking in my windows. I have people.

• 47:20Caleb Hammer?

Okay, they're looking in your windows, literally?

• 47:22Speaker 03

  Like, literally, like.

• 47:24Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, that's really weird.

• 47:25Speaker 03

Absolutely. It's just, it's not my vibe. Everyone's older too. It's a retirement community for like, snowbirds.

• 47:30Caleb Hammer?

Why did you do research on this? Anytime I.

• 47:32Speaker 03

It's like, what was a good deal?

• 47:32Caleb Hammer?

When I buy my, a primary residence, you know, which, it sounds like I'm, I make it sound like I'm doing that, like every month, no, it's like, okay. Like, okay, you know, this year, I, I'm getting, uh, well, I technically already closed on the house, which was renovating it, but, and then two years ago, I got the house before this, right? But what do I do before I do that? And how I saved myself on a house that I almost got, that I was this close to closing on? I knock on every door on that street. I meet everyone. I get their perspective for living there. I do my research. I go there at different times throughout the day. You're gonna live there. You want it to be great. You do your research. This is a fucking house.

• 48:11Caleb Hammer?

This is a multi hundred thousand dollar loan. This isn't something you just do out of the whim. You didn't know old people were just fucking going and dying?

• 48:20Speaker 03

Well, I knew that, but I figured it was more of a snowbird situation, that they'd be gone like half the year.

• 48:26Caleb Hammer?

Did you ask people? So there we go. This is your fault. I mean, this is just your fault.

• 48:32Speaker 03

It's my fault, but I don't wanna, I don't wanna be in the situation, even though this is my fault. I know it's my fault.

• 48:40Caleb Hammer?

Oh, they're saying you put a big trip on here.

• 48:42Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 48:43Caleb Hammer?

  Skank Fest?

• 48:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 48:44Caleb Hammer?

  Isn't that comedy?

• 48:45Speaker 03

  Mm-hmm. It's comedy.

• 48:46Caleb Hammer?

Oh, yeah, I have heard of that.

• 48:48Speaker 03

It's so fun. And I know.

• 48:50Caleb Hammer?

Right, but you can't afford to live in your own place? So we're putting comedy over living in your own place?

• 48:57Speaker 03

That's why it's on my credit card. So I can pay for it.

• 49:00Caleb Hammer?

That's fucking dumb. That's not cute. That's not cute.

• 49:04Speaker 03

  But I love comedy.

• 49:05Caleb Hammer?

  Cool. Watch it on YouTube.

• 49:07Speaker 03

  It's not the same.

• 49:08Caleb Hammer?

No, it's not. It's not, but do you can do things, you can do things you want to do, when you can afford them? When you can afford them, you can't, you can't, you can't.

• 49:19Speaker 03

But if I can't afford it now, I figured it would be paid off by the time the event actually comes in November.

• 49:26Caleb Hammer?

Well, good news. Okay? Instead of that dumb-ass gank festival, we're gonna have a comedy show for you. I'm being told, and it's free.

• 49:38Caleb Hammer?

So here we go. The roast, the official roast of Jeanettey.

• 49:46Speaker 04

  Jeanettey?

• 49:48Speaker 03

  Jeanette. That's my Jeanette.

• 49:52Caleb Hammer?

We use fake names, I don't know. First up, marketing Josh.

• 50:00Speaker 04

I wrote down some jokes for you.

• 50:01Speaker 03

I'm so excited to hear them.

• 50:03Speaker 04

A slight roast. I heard about your finances, so it was very easy to be creative for you. And I'm gonna start off with this first one. You're so broke, your idea of a luxury item is a secondhand paper towel.

• 50:17Speaker 04

You're so broke, when you applied for a credit card, the bank instead sent you a sympathy card. I'm sorry about that, I heard. You're so broke, your credit card got declined at the dollar store.

• 50:28Speaker 03

  Damn.

• 50:29Speaker 04

You can't be doing that. You're so broke, you wash paper plates. That's rock bottom, girl.

• 50:36Caleb Hammer?

She just leaves them in her apartment.

• 50:38Speaker 04

Aww. Make sure you never eat at her place. You're so broke, you count ramen noodles as a food group.

• 50:46Speaker 03

Do you not? You don't do?

• 50:48Speaker 04

  I would never do that.

• 50:49Speaker 03

  Thanks.

• 50:50Speaker 04

You're so broke, when you walk past a payday loan place, they just laugh. You don't even get accepted there. You're so broke, your piggy bank is on a hunger strike. You know who should go on a hunger strike?

• 51:04Speaker 04

You're so broke, you bring a spoon to the Super Bowl. Girl, if you end up in the Super Bowl, how the f**k did you afford that? You're so broke, your houseplants wish they were weeds outside. That's... You know how tragic that is?

• 51:19Speaker 03

  That one's personal.

• 51:21Caleb Hammer?

The Super Bowl is what she calls her breakfast every morning.

• 51:25Caleb Hammer?

Next up on the roast is Jeanette, the office's favorite lesbian and video editor. Erin, woo!

• 51:35Speaker 05

Sup, Jeanette? You're so broke, your idea of meal prep is sniffing a food court. You can smell that Annie Ann's from a couple staircases away. You're so broke, your couch has more coins than your bank account.

• 51:49Speaker 05

You're so broke, your dreams have a budget. How does that feel?

• 51:54Speaker 03

  Great.

• 51:54Speaker 05

Yeah, you're so broke, even your check engine light gave up.

• 51:59Caleb Hammer?

  And so did her tires.

• 52:02Speaker 05

You're so broke, your idea of fine dining is a Saturday sample is at Costco. You're so broke, you steal napkins to use as toilet paper. That's just sad, Jeanette. It's really sad. You're so broke, your welcome mat just says help.

• 52:19Caleb Hammer?

And that's what it screams when you stand on it.

• 52:22Caleb Hammer?

  You have any roast back?

• 52:23Speaker 03

I just want to see your teeth are beautiful, not really a roast.

• 52:28Caleb Hammer?

And we transitioned. And last up for the roasted Jeanette, the office's favorite degenerate, Brandon.

• 52:35Speaker 04

Congrats on being [BLEEP]. Uh, you're so broke, you can't even pay attention. You're so broke, ducks throw bread at you. You're so broke, your wallet has a cast and crutches. You're so broke, you go to KFC to lick other people's fingers. You're so broke, when someone rings the doorbell, you stick your head out the window and yell ding dong. You're so broke, even your imaginary friend won't lend you money. You're so broke, your piggy bank filed for unemployment. And you're so broke, your calendar skips payday.

• 53:08Speaker 03

  Damn.

• 53:09Caleb Hammer?

Oh my goodness, as we just transitioned back, I just read the craziest [BLEEP] note. Okay, but either way, there you go. Now you don't need to pay for skank fest. Okay, you, you got, you had your little comedy show. We provided it for free.

• 53:28Caleb Hammer?

Okay. Okay. So no more. How much did the skank fest cost?

• 53:33Speaker 03

The ticket was 600. And that's not including travel and hotel.

• 53:38Caleb Hammer?

  When is travel and hotel?

• 53:41Speaker 03

The hotel's probably gonna end up being like $400.

• 53:45Caleb Hammer?

  When?

• 53:46Speaker 03

  When?

• 53:47Caleb Hammer?

  When?

• 53:47Speaker 03

  November.

• 53:49Caleb Hammer?

For [BLEEP] sake, did you get it for your [BLEEP] life?

• 53:53Speaker 03

That's kind of why it's planned like far away.

• 53:55Caleb Hammer?

Well, speaking of skank fest, what made me giggle is, I guess you're also... obsessed with Spank Fest as well. Sugar Mama?

• 54:06Caleb Hammer?

Sugar Mama? You pay people after you

• 54:09Speaker 03

Oh, well, not all the time. And I don't pay them with money. That's kind of like

• 54:14Caleb Hammer?

I don't know. I'm, I'm, I'm being read. Every time she boned someone, she would gift them gifts.

• 54:21Speaker 03

I wouldn't say every time, but I mean, at least three or four times. That's happened.

• 54:26Caleb Hammer?

Bought them AirPods and Apple Watches.

• 54:28Speaker 03

Gotta take care of my babies.

• 54:32Caleb Hammer?

Was that just their pay? Did they want to?

• 54:36Speaker 03

Yeah, what? Yeah, of course they wanted.

• 54:38Caleb Hammer?

  They were getting AirPods and?

• 54:39Speaker 03

Yeah, because I was like, you're such a good boy. You get some AirPods. Take care of you.

• 54:44Caleb Hammer?

So we can't afford Life, but we're buying P and I? AirPods and watches?

• 54:51Speaker 03

Not all the time, but I would say sometimes.

• 54:56Caleb Hammer?

I'm so confused. You can't even afford to pay your own bills. I, this is, this makes no sense. Going out to you was like 700 bucks. Unknown shopping is typically, it's just like Amazon and stuff was like 1300. This was another almost 700 bucks. So it's like, what the are you doing? You can't pay? You can't pay to?

• 55:18Speaker 03

I just like to make sure they get a little, little consolation.

• 55:21Caleb Hammer?

Trust me, they were happy if it concluded. Well, no, not like that. I meant more if they finished.

• 55:28Speaker 03

  Okay.

• 55:30Caleb Hammer?

Well, I don't know. Maybe that too, but this is like dude.

• 55:37Caleb Hammer?

  Again, I mean, look, oh.

• 55:41Caleb Hammer?

I was just about to move on. You've had a fucking late fee this year so far on this card. You're buying ball sacks, AirPods? You're buying ball sacks, AirPods? And yet you're not even paying your damn minimum monthly payment on time to this card. And you're spending a thousand, what was it? 500 on this card? And you're not even paying at that time. Why?

• 56:05Speaker 03

  I didn't know there was a

• 56:05Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, for

• 56:06Speaker 03

I know that's a very good excuse, but I genuinely didn't know that.

• 56:09Caleb Hammer?

  Oh, my dude.

• 56:10Speaker 03

I didn't even know my monthly

• 56:12Caleb Hammer?

Hundreds in interest this, this year so far, hundreds in interest this year so far on one card and then a late fee.

• 56:20Speaker 03

  I didn't know.

• 56:20Caleb Hammer?

We're still barely even into this year.

• 56:23Speaker 03

  I know.

• 56:25Speaker 03

What was a late fee this year or this month?

• 56:27Caleb Hammer?

Yes! No, it wasn't this month. It was this year, though.

• 56:33Caleb Hammer?

  The

• 56:35Caleb Hammer?

Why wouldn't it be paid on time? Can you tell me that? I know you didn't know when, but why wouldn't it be paid?

• 56:40Speaker 03

  Just being stupid is

• 56:41Caleb Hammer?

Okay. You're done then, right? Look, what's

• 56:51Speaker 00

• 57:14Caleb Hammer?

What is this fucking conversation? If everything, we do anything, I'm stupid.

• 57:18Speaker 03

Well, because I want to write down the things that I'm stupid about so I can

• 57:21Caleb Hammer?

  And you're not!

• 57:22Speaker 03

Well, I am. I'm making mental notes.

• 57:24Caleb Hammer?

  But you're stupid.

• 57:25Speaker 03

For sure. I am stupid, but I'm trying to not be stupid. You can learn. You don't have to be stupid forever.

• 57:33Speaker 03

  Right?

• 57:33Caleb Hammer?

I agree, but we're approaching 27 on Monday, you said.

• 57:37Speaker 03

Yeah. I feel like I'm doing pretty good for 27.

• 57:42Caleb Hammer?

I'm glad you got into a house. You got into a horrible housing situation that you never should have. You should have researched. You should have honestly probably taken our real estate class before you fucking purchased the house. But

• 57:54Caleb Hammer?

No, at least you get to watch that for free now for your next one. If you ever get out of this house, good luck. Okay, Apple Card.

• 58:03Caleb Hammer?

  $1,345.34. Minimum monthly payment, $60.

• 58:14Caleb Hammer?

Eight years to pay this one off.

• 58:18Speaker 03

  That's a long time.

• 58:20Caleb Hammer?

  It's a long time. You'll be mid 30s.

• 58:24Caleb Hammer?

  Massage? Oh, massage locks?

• 58:27Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 58:28Caleb Hammer?

  The f-

• 58:29Speaker 03

  It's only five dollars.

• 58:31Caleb Hammer?

  For what?

• 58:32Speaker 03

I have my membership on hold until I get more money. So I pay them five dollars a month. Basically to not charge me seventy dollars a month.

• 58:39Caleb Hammer?

  Ah!

• 58:41Speaker 03

  So I can keep my-

• 58:42Caleb Hammer?

So you don't even get the service?

• 58:44Speaker 03

  Correct.

• 58:45Caleb Hammer?

Oh, for f- sake, this is so moronic. This is so moronic. You spend dumb what you make in your Spain to keep a subscription on hold? What the f- are you doing? Bark.co, you spend enough on the pub. Apple bill? Pull up your phone again. You got a ring plan so you can like see the f- can someone collapse with a heart attack? In front of your door?

• 59:08Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 59:08Caleb Hammer?

  Hmm.

• 59:09Speaker 03

Or the old people, you know? I just want to make sure they're not looking in my windows.

• 59:14Caleb Hammer?

  Won't you see them?

• 59:15Speaker 03

  No, I'm not-

• 59:16Caleb Hammer?

Would that not be the same? Give. I don't need to see your apple.

• 59:20Speaker 03

  I didn't know-

• 59:25Caleb Hammer?

Okay. You just have iCloud Plus.

• 59:29Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, that is that bill. It's the iCloud Plus. Extra storage.

• 59:35Caleb Hammer?

I don't f- know. What, so what's up with this card?

• 59:40Speaker 03

So, this card is basically like... It's, you know, it's easy... When you're on your phone, it's the first card that comes up when you go pay stuff and it's connected to all my... Things. Um, like my Bark box and stuff like that.

• 59:54Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah.

• 59:54Speaker 03

  Um-

• 59:55Caleb Hammer?

  Did see that.

• 59:56Speaker 03

There's a couple of things on eBay that I purchased on that card.

• 59:59Caleb Hammer?

What are we getting on eBay? Who's using eBay? What are you getting on eBay?

• 1:00:03Speaker 03

  I love eBay.

• 1:00:04Caleb Hammer?

Congratulations, I'm sure you do. You love getting things that show up to your house. I know, that's your pastime.

• 1:00:08Speaker 03

I love stupid shit. I love buying dumb shirts.

• 1:00:10Caleb Hammer?

I've, we've, that's how this conversation started. Yeah, dumb shirts?

• 1:00:14Speaker 03

Yeah, like, like who's a good boy?

• 1:00:15Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, that is a dumb shirt.

• 1:00:17Speaker 03

Yeah, I know. I got it on eBay.

• 1:00:18Caleb Hammer?

Sooo, we're going to potentially go bankrupt for dumb shirts.

• 1:00:23Caleb Hammer?

Interesting strategy. Is that your version of comedy? You love comedy shows so much, your comedy is who's a good boy on our shirt?

• 1:00:30Speaker 03

No. It kinda just sets the tone.

• 1:00:34Caleb Hammer?

How much you spend on this bullshit?

• 1:00:35Speaker 03

I try to get like ten dollar shirts.

• 1:00:37Caleb Hammer?

  What's your travel?

• 1:00:39Speaker 03

Uh, I travel, I try to get out of the state like two or three times a year.

• 1:00:43Caleb Hammer?

How? You can't even come close to affording that. How?

• 1:00:46Speaker 03

  Credit cards and stuff.

• 1:00:47Caleb Hammer?

You can't, and you probably go fucking wild when you travel too.

• 1:00:51Speaker 03

  Well.

• 1:00:51Caleb Hammer?

Just look at you, you can't control yourself for your home.

• 1:00:53Speaker 03

I mean, I honestly, I just blackout, you know? The time that you're on vacation doesn't count towards the time.

• 1:00:58Caleb Hammer?

Which is great when we go on vacation once a quarter.

• 1:01:03Speaker 03

  I just like.

• 1:01:04Caleb Hammer?

You make like fifty thousand a year before taxes. Four vacations where we just blackout and spend all our money a year? Good fucking luck!

• 1:01:15Speaker 03

I know, I just, again, I goes back to the, I like, I like it, I like.

• 1:01:18Caleb Hammer?

  I know what you like, I don't give a.

• 1:01:20Speaker 03

  For sure.

• 1:01:23Speaker 03

I like it, I like, I got friends in Colorado. I got friends in Colorado, I have friends out here.

• 1:01:28Caleb Hammer?

  Taste on them.

• 1:01:29Speaker 03

  Right now?

• 1:01:30Caleb Hammer?

No. Instead of traveling to Calif- ing Rado.

• 1:01:34Speaker 03

  But Colorado's cool.

• 1:01:36Caleb Hammer?

I'm sure it is, you can't afford, that, what, oh my, you, you, are you not understanding? That it's like, great, I understand it's nice, I understand it's cool, I understand you wanna do it. You mathematically cannot afford it because you got fired from your last job because you're irresponsible and don't know how to do your job.

• 1:01:53Caleb Hammer?

That was the fault of you and you alone, whether or not it was a petty hire, fire, you still did something incorrect and you got fired. Oh no, the consequences of my own actions, who would've thought? Okay, so that happened, now you make less money, you can't live the lifestyle you did before. That is you making choices. I don't give a, if it's fun, it's all on you. And you do not have to say yes because it's fun. For the sake of your future, I obviously see that. So you need to sit down with a fucking therapist and figure that shit out! I'll gift you therapy, three free sessions with Sondar Mind, they use them, I use them, they're great. Work on these coping mechanisms, learn to say no!

• 1:02:38Speaker 03

That's hard. I know hard things are.

• 1:02:41Caleb Hammer?

Say two things. It's hard. It's fun. It's hard. It's fun. You're never gonna do anything if this is your, if this is your brain and you didn't know how fucking people banged. At nineteen and then you pay people to after that, like it's like, okay.

• 1:02:56Speaker 03

That sounds, that sounds bad. When you say it like that. Paying people to sounds bad.

• 1:03:03Caleb Hammer?

  Reading as I see it.

• 1:03:05Speaker 03

Hanging out with someone for a month and then being like, all right, here's some AirPods. Ta ta. That's different. In my opinion.

• 1:03:14Caleb Hammer?

  So weird.

• 1:03:17Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 1:03:21Caleb Hammer?

  I don't know. I, I just, you're, you haven't grown as a human mentally.

• 1:03:30Speaker 03

But I own a house and a business and I have a job.

• 1:03:32Caleb Hammer?

You're underwater on your house for fifty five thousand dollars and you wanna sell it. You have a business that makes three hundred dollars a month and you can't operate it out of the place that you live in, which is where you're operating your business. Shut the up. You have, there's, there's nothing to be proud of here.

• 1:03:43Speaker 03

I feel like I have the things in place, just not the best. Execution.

• 1:03:50Caleb Hammer?

• 1:04:54Caleb Hammer?

Four hundred fifty seven dollars and sixteen cents with a minimum monthly payment. You purchased three hundred fifty three dollars? For fuck's sake.

• 1:05:04Speaker 03

I think it's just gas, though.

• 1:05:06Caleb Hammer?

We'll see. Minimum payment is twenty five dollars, so this will never be paid off. How long will it take to pay off? It doesn't say, but it's gonna take forever, that's for sure. My goodness.

• 1:05:19Caleb Hammer?

Um, yeah, some of it's gas, but there's also tractor supply.

• 1:05:22Speaker 03

  Dog food.

• 1:05:24Caleb Hammer?

A hundred fifty two dollars in dog food in one purchase?

• 1:05:27Speaker 03

It's dog food and cat food, it sounds like.

• 1:05:29Caleb Hammer?

How many pets do you have?

• 1:05:30Speaker 03

Well, I'm a pet sitter, so I always have to have extra stuff on hand. Like, I always have extra-

• 1:05:36Caleb Hammer?

Not food, though. The owners have the food.

• 1:05:37Speaker 03

It's always good to have extra, and I buy it in bulk.

• 1:05:40Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, but feeding them something that's outside of their diet's gonna make them-

• 1:05:42Speaker 03

Not necessarily. Sometimes, yeah, but I have some dogs that are just like-

• 1:05:45Caleb Hammer?

I'd be pissed if my dog watcher fed them some out of diet food, not a treat.

• 1:05:50Speaker 03

What if you didn't send me enough food to watch your dog?

• 1:05:52Caleb Hammer?

  I would.

• 1:05:54Speaker 03

  Not everyone does competent.

• 1:05:55Caleb Hammer?

So it's when they're with you, but you can't do that in your place, business, so it's-

• 1:05:59Speaker 03

  I still do it.

• 1:06:02Caleb Hammer?

  They can fucking like-

• 1:06:03Speaker 03

They threatened to fine me a hundred dollars a day until I stopped.

• 1:06:07Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, and it can get worse, too.

• 1:06:09Speaker 03

Yeah, but nothing's ever come about it since I got that one thing in the mail.

• 1:06:13Caleb Hammer?

Why don't you spend on pets on a monthly basis?

• 1:06:15Speaker 03

  Oof, I honestly don't know a lot.

• 1:06:18Caleb Hammer?

  What do you think?

• 1:06:19Speaker 03

Hmm, probably like a band between dog food, treats.

• 1:06:24Caleb Hammer?

  Band. That's a thousand, right?

• 1:06:26Speaker 03

  A thousand dollars.

• 1:06:27Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 1:06:29Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, I mean, it's just like, just buy a lot for the business and thousand hours a month on it, but you make three hundred, so it's like, whoa, it's like, yeah, what a great business you're running. You go in the hole for it.

• 1:06:42Speaker 03

But I do make more money than three hundred. That's just what I bring in.

• 1:06:44Caleb Hammer?

  How much, then?

• 1:06:45Speaker 03

I would say it's definitely less than five thousand a year since I can't be full time on it.

• 1:06:52Speaker 03

  I can't dedicate-

• 1:06:53Caleb Hammer?

Let's call it even five thousand dollars a year. Let's just say that. Four hundred dollars a month, okay?

• 1:06:58Speaker 03

Okay, I was a little off. I think it's, I think it's a little bit more than that.

• 1:07:02Caleb Hammer?

You said I don't even bring in five thousand a year. I gave you five thousand.

• 1:07:06Speaker 03

Yeah, I, I think last year I did well because I had more time dedicated to it, but now that I have my nine to five, it's probably more accurate to three hundred, four hundred dollars a month.

• 1:07:17Speaker 03

But prior, I was making way more, because I was able to spend more time on it.

• 1:07:21Caleb Hammer?

Oh, my gosh. Oh, they're fucking, they're fucking, they're saying she spends four hundred hours a month on something stupid. What else do you spend four hundred hours a month on?

• 1:07:33Speaker 03

  Is it?

• 1:07:34Caleb Hammer?

  Is it? You tell me.

• 1:07:36Speaker 03

  I don't know.

• 1:07:36Caleb Hammer?

Better not be, is it? It's a shit ton of money.

• 1:07:39Speaker 03

  I thought, hmm, is it?

• 1:07:40Caleb Hammer?

Oh, it is. Oh, you spent literally four hundred and twenty dollars this last month on we, are you fucking kidding me?

• 1:07:49Caleb Hammer?

Are you fucking kidding me? That's insane.

• 1:07:52Speaker 03

That's kinda cool, though. Four twenty?

• 1:07:53Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, that's hilarious. When you can't, literally for life, you are a joke. You're an excuse for a human. I have no respect for you. I have no respect for you. I hope you do well, but I have no respect for you. You're a joke. You're a child, you're a joke. I'm sorry. I'm telling it as it is. No more roasting, no more little comedic high keys. You're, or you're a child. You're a child. You've never developed beyond like twelve. I have no respect for you as a human.

• 1:08:17Speaker 03

But I have all the adult stuff.

• 1:08:20Caleb Hammer?

Underwater on a mortgage, is that an adult thing?

• 1:08:22Speaker 03

Oh, yeah, it is. A lot of people are underwater on their mortgage, but at least they have a house.

• 1:08:30Speaker 03

Is that not normal? Like, isn't it like a recession or some shit?

• 1:08:34Caleb Hammer?

  We don't know.

• 1:08:37Caleb Hammer?

We have to have two quarters of GDP decline for recession.

• 1:08:42Caleb Hammer?

Two point five percent of people with mortgages are underwater on their home. No, the majority of people do not. In fact, at basically the worst, which is the two thousand eight mortgage crisis, was twenty-three percent. So not even a full quarter. So no, that is not the adult thing to do. You're in a small minority of people who got way over their head and didn't do the research and fucked over their, their lives.

• 1:09:08Speaker 03

But doesn't it make my credit look good that I own a house?

• 1:09:11Caleb Hammer?

Uh, your seller finance probably isn't showing up on your credit. Right?

• 1:09:16Speaker 03

  I don't know.

• 1:09:16Caleb Hammer?

Is he reporting into the credit bureaus? I don't think so.

• 1:09:19Speaker 03

  I don't know.

• 1:09:20Caleb Hammer?

  I'd be beyond surprised. I honestly, I actually, I'll be honest, I, I don't even know.

• 1:09:25Speaker 03

  Hmm, me neither.

• 1:09:28Caleb Hammer?

Yeah, it doesn't automatically appear on your credit. Uh, but you can potentially get seller financing reporting. Uh, you would have to take extra steps or they would have to take extra steps using like a loan servicing company. Or reporting it via third-party services like Rental Karma or, or Payment Report or Zingo. And you can establish a formal loan agreement, which I'm sure you did in order to be, report that history. So, I mean, it's possible. But also just don't people over, you took this. Hopefully they just take it back if you don't. I mean, they could.

• 1:10:02Speaker 03

That'd be like best case scenario. I, I would love that.

• 1:10:06Caleb Hammer?

But what if they go through the steps because you them over reporting that? Like a seller finance foreclosure? You want that on your credit?

• 1:10:13Speaker 03

I don't know. I don't know how that works. I just figured anything to do with a house would look.

• 1:10:17Caleb Hammer?

Sounds like they can at least attempt to get them on your credit.

• 1:10:20Speaker 03

  That would be cool.

• 1:10:22Caleb Hammer?

  No, the foreclosure.

• 1:10:23Speaker 03

Oh, oh, oh, yeah, no, no, that would not be cool.

• 1:10:28Caleb Hammer?

I just tracked this. You spent a thousand dollars a month to bring in four hundred at the max. It's, this is moronic. This is not a business. Don't call it a business again.

• 1:10:36Speaker 03

It feels like charity. No, for sure.

• 1:10:38Caleb Hammer?

Yes, that's close. Okay, well, this credit card has zero dollars on it. So I don't know what I'm, why I'm seeing this.

• 1:10:44Speaker 03

Oh, I think that's my car.

• 1:10:48Caleb Hammer?

Oh, there's a car on the second page. Well, it's at a two point two five percent interest rate of what your house was. And this isn't, this, that's a good rate for a car. Uh, what is the car?

• 1:10:56Speaker 03

Uh, I have a twenty eighteen Hyundai Tucson.

• 1:11:00Caleb Hammer?

Balance is five thousand two hundred fifty dollars, sixty eight cents. And the minimum monthly payment is four hundred twenty seven. I mean, it's chunky. Chunky, probably a shorter term. I don't even have this. How's the condition? What's the car like?

• 1:11:15Speaker 03

I bought it in twenty eighteen. Um, it's a great car. I love my car. Uh, I do fly through tires like a motherfucker though.

• 1:11:20Caleb Hammer?

  Why?

• 1:11:21Speaker 03

Cause I drive all over town for this stupid charity job. That I love, but I need to figure out how to make money on it. But I've gotten at least two sets of tires in the last year.

• 1:11:33Caleb Hammer?

Well, I'll gift you a course career certification. Use the accounting one for your own business. And I think you'll learn that a thousand dollars out and 400 in equals no.

• 1:11:43Speaker 03

But how do I get to make more money than a $400?

• 1:11:46Caleb Hammer?

We already talked about this earlier. What the? I thought you were taking mental notes. I thought that was your special superpower.

• 1:11:51Speaker 03

That's not a superpower, but I do want to know.

• 1:11:54Caleb Hammer?

You have to charge more. You need to charge locally so you're able to go in between places quicker and

• 1:12:02Caleb Hammer?

and you gotta just cut out the people that are far away and you're not charging enough or no more charity. You said it feels like a charity. We can't be like a charity anymore.

• 1:12:11Speaker 03

  You know.

• 1:12:14Caleb Hammer?

How much do you think the cars were?

• 1:12:22Speaker 00

• 1:12:46Speaker 03

  Um, probably like 7,000?

• 1:12:49Caleb Hammer?

We're seeing it. Well, what condition is it in?

• 1:12:52Speaker 03

  It's pretty good. Dumb.

• 1:12:53Caleb Hammer?

  Okay, pretty good?

• 1:12:55Speaker 03

Like fair, I guess it would be.

• 1:12:57Caleb Hammer?

Okay, it's probably worth like 10,000 then. We're getting 14,000 for good condition.

• 1:13:01Speaker 03

  Oh, wow. Cool.

• 1:13:02Caleb Hammer?

  Yeah.

• 1:13:03Speaker 03

  That's not bad, right?

• 1:13:06Caleb Hammer?

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You're underwater in your house, not your car. I'd rather it be the car than the house, but.

• 1:13:13Speaker 03

But I could always live in my car if it's, if anything happens.

• 1:13:19Caleb Hammer?

Is that, is that you being cute or is that a real?

• 1:13:21Speaker 03

That's like a real thing. If I, if I'm homeless, at least my car will be paid off.

• 1:13:27Caleb Hammer?

At least my car will be paid off. It's okay to be homeless. Great. Alright, student loans for what degree?

• 1:13:37Speaker 03

It was a technical college. Uh, I went to be an esthetician. Which is

• 1:13:41Caleb Hammer?

  Esthetician, really?

• 1:13:42Speaker 03

  Skin and nails.

• 1:13:43Caleb Hammer?

Yep. It just really doesn't make much money.

• 1:13:46Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:13:47Caleb Hammer?

That field. It takes a long time to make decent money in that. Okay?

• 1:13:50Speaker 03

And it was awful. Uh, I was a waxer and I only did it for about maybe six months.

• 1:13:58Caleb Hammer?

The fuck you're doing? Why are you not paying on it? They'll garnish your fucking wages.

• 1:14:02Speaker 03

  I, I think it's called deferred.

• 1:14:04Caleb Hammer?

  It's deferred?

• 1:14:05Speaker 03

  Or something like that.

• 1:14:06Caleb Hammer?

Oh, I see a regular amount, fifty bucks.

• 1:14:09Speaker 03

I told them that I lost my job.

• 1:14:10Caleb Hammer?

Do zero. Yeah, what, what are they gonna do when you file taxes and they say, oh, she has a job?

• 1:14:15Speaker 03

Well, the, that comes off, I think, automatic. They gave me a year.

• 1:14:21Caleb Hammer?

Okay, a year until when? When's year?

• 1:14:23Speaker 03

I think I start paying back on it in June, July.

• 1:14:28Caleb Hammer?

Okay, so it'll be fifty bucks. So just put that in your budget for now, but you, you, you stopped.

• 1:14:34Speaker 03

Yeah, dude, I was a waxer.

• 1:14:38Speaker 03

  I saw

• 1:14:38Caleb Hammer?

  That means nothing to me.

• 1:14:39Speaker 03

  Okay, I was eighteen.

• 1:14:40Caleb Hammer?

  You're waxing.

• 1:14:40Speaker 03

I was waxing vaginas and dirty buttholes.

• 1:14:43Caleb Hammer?

Did you just, oh my gosh, you really do infantilize yourself. You chose to get into it. Also, it's just a private part. Who gives a, it's not, it's not fucking porn. I do, I'm so confused. It was a job. It was just like if you were doing something medical as well. And if you're uncomfortable, don't go into it, but don't do the, I was eighteen and I saw a naked body. Oh my What are you?

• 1:15:05Speaker 03

  I can deal with naked.

• 1:15:06Caleb Hammer?

You're literally a professional redditor. Or Twitter user. You are a child. You are the most Gen Z. I don't hate Gen Z. I'm in that weird Gen Z millennial hybrid anyway. So it's just like, whatever. But what the, what is this infantilization? I'm eighteen, I'm nineteen. I've never heard of sex. Oh. Oh, eighteen, I saw, if I saw a

• 1:15:28Speaker 03

No, I can handle pussy and I can handle butthole, but when a bitch is coming and running a mile and then comes in, like, can I get a full Brazilian? That is

• 1:15:35Caleb Hammer?

Can you give her a towel?

• 1:15:37Speaker 03

I can wipe her with a baby wipe.

• 1:15:39Caleb Hammer?

She, she, but you can't have her?

• 1:15:41Speaker 03

  That's a little bit.

• 1:15:42Caleb Hammer?

  Is there a shower there?

• 1:15:43Speaker 03

  No. No.

• 1:15:45Caleb Hammer?

  Okay.

• 1:15:47Caleb Hammer?

Um, yeah, baby wipe it up. Okay, you didn't like it, but don't do the, I was eighteen.

• 1:15:53Speaker 03

I just felt like it was a lot for me at as, as that age.

• 1:15:56Caleb Hammer?

That if literally seeing a naked body for you was a lot at eighteen, then you probably shouldn't be out of sight of your parents.

• 1:16:04Speaker 03

It was nasty. I can handle all the, I can handle bodily, you know, I can look at a pair of tits and a vagina, but a stinky nasty gross.

• 1:16:14Caleb Hammer?

I don't think it has to do with eighteen, though. I think that's disgusting. I wouldn't like that either, but not because I'm thirty.

• 1:16:19Speaker 03

But I'm throwing that in that I was also eighteen.

• 1:16:21Caleb Hammer?

  That shouldn't matter.

• 1:16:22Speaker 03

I just got out of high school. I didn't, again, I didn't really know what's going on. I was just like, you know.

• 1:16:27Caleb Hammer?

Raised? Like, what the, what, what is this? Why are you assigning childlike behavior to yourself? You weren't an adult. People literally go serve in wars at that age. I don't give a.

• 1:16:42Caleb Hammer?

If it is too scary to see something that is stinky at eighteen, then you should not be driving a multi-ton vehicle at seventy miles per hour. You probably shouldn't be allowed to leave the house. You probably shouldn't be allowed to work a job where there are high pressure situations because you are too immature. If you are incapable to exist at eighteen, you shouldn't be allowed to do anything. You can either infantilize yourself in nothing or in everything. If seeing something stinky is too much for an eighteen-year-old, then you need to be locked inside and coddled by your dad and be assigned a marriage.

• 1:17:17Speaker 03

  That's, that's a bit much.

• 1:17:18Caleb Hammer?

Not really. If you are literally incapable of anything at eighteen, then I am not going to let you go have a job where someone might be a little upset if you don't do your job properly. I'm not going to let you drive a truck down a road.

• 1:17:35Speaker 03

  I think.

• 1:17:36Caleb Hammer?

You, I'm not gonna let you go to college where you have to be responsible for yourself barely.

• 1:17:41Speaker 03

I think I'm pretty responsible. I mean, I moved out of my mom's when I was nineteen. I can't be that in, in fenty, like.

• 1:17:48Caleb Hammer?

Well, you, it was your words, dude. I was using your own words.

• 1:17:51Speaker 03

  That I'm a child?

• 1:17:52Caleb Hammer?

You said that was a lot for an eighteen-year-old.

• 1:17:55Speaker 03

  It was.

• 1:17:55Caleb Hammer?

Not really. Most of us be fucking in high school.

• 1:17:59Speaker 03

  I don't know many eighteen-year-olds that have a grown-up job.

• 1:18:04Speaker 03

That also moved out of their parents.

• 1:18:05Caleb Hammer?

Do you live in a daycare?

• 1:18:07Speaker 03

No, I live in a shitty small town. Everyone lives in their parents' house.

• 1:18:11Caleb Hammer?

A lot of people go to college, which means they move out at 18. That is a very common thing in our Western American culture. In fact, it has been more common historically to move out at 18. Since at least the 40s and 50s in our culture.

• 1:18:24Speaker 03

  Not where I'm from.

• 1:18:25Caleb Hammer?

Well, then where you're from is.

• 1:18:28Speaker 03

  It is.

• 1:18:28Caleb Hammer?

Okay, cool. That doesn't matter. You don't know people who have jobs at 18? That's on them.

• 1:18:36Caleb Hammer?

A lot of people, my brothers, a lot of people I know, we go get a job at 16 so we can pay for the car. So we can pay for the gas. So we can do the things we want to do. So we can go live an independent lifestyle. You're so fucking coddled. What a disgusting joke that your age is. It's crazy. You're like two years, you're like four years younger than me. So it's not even that big thing. You're not even, like, you're not even 18 now. When you were 18, I was 22. We're not even that far apart. And I didn't act like this. What is wrong with people like you? I will never understand. You should, I was excited to be an adult. I don't know what the fuck is wrong with you guys. Children. Good luck ever existing in this world, man. You make me sound like a boomer, but my, there actually is something wrong. There actually is something wrong.

• 1:19:22Speaker 03

  With the generation?

• 1:19:23Caleb Hammer?

I guess, just with some people, the permanently chronically online 18 year olds who got separated from reality during COVID because they were locked inside, you know, that's what we all did. But they just couldn't operate in the world after that. And they've just, they're mentally children for the rest of their lives. I don't know what the fuck happened. It's crazy. And I never realized it until I started the show and had to talk to people like you. It's crazy. Okay. Is that it? Is that all the debt? That looks like all the debt.

• 1:19:51Speaker 03

  Hmm.

• 1:19:53Speaker 03

I think so. Pardon me, huh?

• 1:19:56Caleb Hammer?

I feel like I didn't write something that I have to look back on quick.

• 1:20:04Caleb Hammer?

I'm gonna write down the car. How much is owed on the car?

• 1:20:08Speaker 03

  Four thousand something.

• 1:20:11Speaker 03

  Four or five something.

• 1:20:13Caleb Hammer?

Four eight two zero. With a minimum payment or what?

• 1:20:17Speaker 03

I think it's four twenty seven.

• 1:20:20Caleb Hammer?

  Four forty.

• 1:20:23Caleb Hammer?

Hey, we have five hundred dollars in our checking account. We're just going in, getting some bull, probably vaping. I can't believe how much you spend on fucking weed a monthly basis. That's crazy. It's like.

• 1:20:33Speaker 03

And that's just on my card. That's not even cash.

• 1:20:36Caleb Hammer?

Spend fifteen percent of your income on, what a joke.

• 1:20:40Speaker 03

  Fifty percent?

• 1:20:41Caleb Hammer?

  Fifteen.

• 1:20:41Speaker 03

  Oh, holy shit.

• 1:20:42Caleb Hammer?

Still insane. Uber Eats, oh my gosh, twenty five bucks there. Rib City, Venmo out money, Zaxby's, Uber Eats, Uber Eats, PayPal out money, India's Grill, Clover, Venmo out fifteen, Downtown House of Pies, Starbucks, Uber Eats, Uber Eats, Uber Eats! Spotify, Uber Eats, Etsy, Uber Eats, Uber Eats! Oh, for fuck's sake! Slice Life, Uber Eats, PayPal, eBay, Uber Eats, Uber Eats! This is so fuck, going in to get into both at McDonald's!

• 1:21:16Caleb Hammer?

That was fucking stupid spending for someone that can't survive, plus another four hundred on. Good luck! Good luck, dude.

• 1:21:29Caleb Hammer?

Hundred dollars in, oh! No, a hundred dollars in savings, down from nine fourteen! Oh, for fuck's sake! Well, here's another account, two thousand six hundred. So what's, what's that?

• 1:21:42Speaker 03

I think that's my business credit card, uh, for gas.

• 1:21:45Caleb Hammer?

It's not a credit card? Business savings?

• 1:21:52Caleb Hammer?

Do you have two thousand six hundred in savings?

• 1:21:55Speaker 03

  Hmm.

• 1:21:57Caleb Hammer?

  Is it gone?

• 1:21:58Speaker 03

  I think I have a savings. I think it's about two thousand.

• 1:22:01Caleb Hammer?

Okay. Oh my gosh, you don't even know, for fuck's sake. Seven hundred thirty one dollars in Robin Hood, okay. Yeah, yeah. Oh, this one's actually pretty good. Oh, it looks like you've been contributing to retirement. This is a a weird, random, fucking, just like, pile of gold and a stack of, like, fifty thousand dollars in retirement, and for your income right now, is actually on track for retirement. If it was your income of your last job, no, you wouldn't be, but. Okay. Wow. Well, let's see if we can budget you. I can't behavior and mental you, but see if I can budget you.

• 1:22:37Caleb Hammer?

What are you even invested in when it comes to those?

• 1:22:40Speaker 03

I couldn't tell you. The Robin Hood or in my retirement? I have no idea.

• 1:23:15Speaker 03

I had people pick it all for me.

• 1:23:17Caleb Hammer?

  Who picked?

• 1:23:19Speaker 03

  My friends. I know.

• 1:23:22Caleb Hammer?

Oh, I hope that 50,000 hours stays there. But I don't know if it will if your friends are picking it.

• 1:23:27Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:23:31Caleb Hammer?

Good luck, dude. Okay. 3,600. Let me sit down with the financial advisor next time. Debt and monthly payments. Okay. $708, not including the mortgage and HOA. Mortgage and HOA, we're looking at 1,850. Okay. What about gas, electricity, utilities, internet, all that stuff combined? How much?

• 1:23:49Speaker 03

  500.

• 1:23:51Caleb Hammer?

Gas, room, room, drive, drive. You drive a lot.

• 1:23:53Speaker 03

Just in gas, probably $200 a month, like driving gas.

• 1:23:57Caleb Hammer?

Sounds crazy. I thought it was gonna be. Car insurance?

• 1:23:59Speaker 03

  140.

• 1:24:01Caleb Hammer?

  Phone bill?

• 1:24:02Speaker 03

Um, I have Mint, so it was like 200 for the year. So.

• 1:24:06Caleb Hammer?

Okay, that's not bad. And we always tell people to get on helium for 15 bucks a month. That's also very good. It's very similar. So, uh, we'll budget you out to the, well, technically would actually save you money. Uh, 17 bucks a month for that. Necessary food, 300 bucks. Use our meal plan again. Cookbook, cookbook, use it. Budget from the cookbook, 300 bucks a month. TP phone, 100 bucks. Anything else you need or want if you have extra? Medical, healthcare, anything on a monthly basis?

• 1:24:37Speaker 03

  Yes. Uh, probably like 150.

• 1:24:39Caleb Hammer?

  Subscriptions, no. But pet insurance?

• 1:24:41Speaker 03

Hmm, it's included with my job.

• 1:24:43Caleb Hammer?

  Okay. Pet food?

• 1:24:46Speaker 03

  250.

• 1:24:48Speaker 03

  That's for dog and cats.

• 1:24:49Caleb Hammer?

Okay, yeah, I mean, you're underwater. That was pretty clear. Four thousand, two hundred fifteen dollars.

• 1:24:59Caleb Hammer?

Six hundred fifteen. Yeah, I mean, the selling, the, the, the house situation's a bit weird, but I mean, you're under fifty-five, so I doubt we can do that.

• 1:25:10Speaker 03

And that's not including the other gas, not room, room, drive, drive?

• 1:25:15Caleb Hammer?

What's the other gas? It's also not included, we no, you, okay. All right. I was gonna think of a plan, but you, that pisses me off. Spending a budget over spent zero out of ten, you. That's not, it's not the worst debt, you're underwater in your house, it's not great, two out of ten. Emergency fund, two thousand bucks, two out of ten. Retirement, ten out of ten, you're actually there for your age. And real estate, it's not great because of the situation, but if you held, it might work three out of ten. Retirement is actually what's gonna hold you, you might get to that before, that number that you said before that I wasn't expecting. Yeah, Hammer Financial Score rounded out three point five out of ten. You don't deserve it with that last statement. Pissing me off, whatever.
