You're that creature in the ginger beard. Sturdy ginger. Like them has, the ginger gene is a curse.

• 2:01Speaker 05

Gingers are beautiful. You owe me $5 for the whiskey, $75 for the horse. Gingers, oh hell no. This whiskey.

• 2:08Andrew Santino?

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Whiskey Junior. My guest today is one of my favorite people on earth. I say that for all my guests, but I mean, once again today, it's Leanne Morgan. I mean, Leanne Morgan. It's like a feather, the way your name falls, isn't it?

• 2:23Speaker 06

  Oh, my darling.

• 2:24Andrew Santino?

  Leanne Morgan.

• 2:25Speaker 06

I never thought of it that way.

• 2:26Andrew Santino?

Leanne Morgan, four syllables. You know, uh, uh, odds are bad luck, evens are good luck.

• 2:33Speaker 06

  Oh.

• 2:33Andrew Santino?

  Leanne Morgan.

• 2:35Speaker 06

  Oh.

• 2:35Andrew Santino?

Anne, Drew, Sant, T, no, bad luck. That's how. Yeah, he's doing his right now. Ma, cone, cor, cur, re, bad luck. You're destined for, for nothingness. But a beautiful woman with a name like Leanne Morgan. By the way, fans at home, I know all of you already know who she is because she's a brilliant comedian, writer, actor, uh, and a, uh, ethereal being. Uh, she has a special right now on Netflix called Unspeakable Things. Uh, and she has a phenomenal show on Netflix as well. You're just Netflix's new queen called Leanne. It's amazing.

• 3:11Speaker 06

  Thank you, my darling.

• 3:11Andrew Santino?

Produced by the one and only.

• 3:14Speaker 06

  Chuck Lorre.

• 3:14Andrew Santino?

Chuck Lorre, this guy. Only, only home runs. How is it working with him? You like him?

• 3:20Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 3:21Andrew Santino?

  Good dude.

• 3:21Speaker 06

  He's darling, yeah.

• 3:22Andrew Santino?

  He's brilliant.

• 3:23Speaker 06

  Brilliant.

• 3:24Andrew Santino?

I don't know, I've never met the man, but from afar, all I see is he's hitting dingers. He hits home runs. Everything he touches is gold.

• 3:32Speaker 06

  I know, Big Bang Theory.

• 3:33Andrew Santino?

  He's the kingmaker.

• 3:34Speaker 06

  Two and a half men.

• 3:35Andrew Santino?

Two and a half men and Big Bang Theory, back to back is pretty wild to think about. And now, and now Leanne, which will be.

• 3:42Speaker 06

Which I'm so thankful that people liked it.

• 3:45Andrew Santino?

  People love it.

• 3:46Speaker 06

  And that I got renewed.

• 3:47Andrew Santino?

I know. And congratulations on the renewal.

• 3:49Speaker 06

Thank you. I would have been devastated. Thank you all. I would have been devastated if that hadn't upset and wrung my hands.

• 3:55Andrew Santino?

  Really?

• 3:56Speaker 06

  Oh.

• 3:57Andrew Santino?

What do you, where do you go? When, so a lot of people, when they are up for renewal, uh, well, back in the old days, when you do pilots, you'd usually leave the city because you were so nervous to stay to get the news, bad or good.

• 4:08Speaker 06

Oh, is that what people do?

• 4:09Andrew Santino?

Well, they used to. I mean, I don't, I don't even know if Hollywood's dead, so I don't know. Yeah, it's, I don't even think people go out anymore. I think they just, uh, make a phone call and then they get back on TikTok. Do you do something to escape? Do you escape?

• 4:22Speaker 06

I was on the road. I was in San Jose doing a theater. And I was working like a mule and that was good for me. I was finishing up. Well, I was doing these tour dates. I'd just finished it up in Boston. But I was in San Jose, California and doing a California run and that kept my mind off of it.

• 4:41Andrew Santino?

Where in Boston, let me guess, The Wang?

• 4:42Speaker 06

  Uh huh.

• 4:43Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, it's a beautiful theater, isn't it?

• 4:44Speaker 06

  Beautiful.

• 4:45Andrew Santino?

Theater for performing arts too. It's one of those where sometimes I walk into theaters and you're not like me. You are a crisp, clean, intelligent, sweet comic. It's a bunch of fart jokes for me. So I go, I go into a beautiful theater like that. I, don't we feel bad? We walk into these theaters, I'm like, we shouldn't be here.

• 5:02Speaker 07

I was telling her about the Ryman because she's from.

• 5:04Andrew Santino?

Oh, right, the Ryman. That's right. We did the Ryman two years ago now?

• 5:07Speaker 07

  Yeah, 2023.

• 5:08Andrew Santino?

2023, yeah, we did the Ryman and that gave us anxiety. Because walking into such like a historic venue and they put us up in the Johnny Cash and June suite. Is that what it was?

• 5:19Speaker 07

  Their, their dressing room.

• 5:19Andrew Santino?

Their dressing room, yeah. And that, I really did get nervous for the first time.

• 5:23Speaker 06

  I did too there.

• 5:24Andrew Santino?

Because it's just something about the place that's so meaningful to performing arts that I'm like, are we gonna let this room down? Not the fans, but like is the, are the walls gonna be like, yuck, get them out?

• 5:36Speaker 07

We played a venue in Salt.

• 5:36Speaker 06

  And all those pews.

• 5:38Andrew Santino?

All the pews. I know, like we're at church.

• 5:41Speaker 06

  Yeah, they call it.

• 5:42Andrew Santino?

Which you just came from church just before you came here. We do know you came from church, correct?

• 5:46Speaker 06

  From.

• 5:47Andrew Santino?

You were at church before this, weren't you?

• 5:49Speaker 06

  No.

• 5:49Andrew Santino?

Leanne, you gotta play along and just say yes.

• 5:51Speaker 06

  Oh, oh, okay.

• 5:52Andrew Santino?

  You were at church, yes.

• 5:55Speaker 07

We were at a venue in Salt Lake and there were pictures of Orson Welles performing Shakespeare on the same exact stage that Bobby was.

• 6:01Andrew Santino?

Shakespeare. Orson Welles, Shakespeare and Bobby getting naked on stage. Same world we're living in, pretty, pretty wild.

• 6:07Speaker 06

  What was that one?

• 6:08Speaker 07

That was in Salt Lake City.

• 6:09Andrew Santino?

It was Salt Lake City. What was it called? I don't remember the name of the venue.

• 6:11Speaker 06

  Eccles, was it?

• 6:12Speaker 07

  I don't remember exactly.

• 6:13Andrew Santino?

  Eccles sounds correct.

• 6:14Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 6:15Speaker 06

Because I worked at that theater. I didn't know he was there.

• 6:17Andrew Santino?

Yeah. See now, good to know after the fact.

• 6:20Speaker 06

I know. All these theaters though that we work are so ornate and beautiful and old and they've all got the same story. There was porn shown there in the seventies.

• 6:30Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, that's true.

• 6:31Speaker 06

The pigeons lived in it and defecated in it. There was a fire.

• 6:37Andrew Santino?

  There always was a fire.

• 6:38Speaker 06

Yeah, then they started showing old movies.

• 6:41Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 6:42Speaker 06

  Then there was Rocky Horror.

• 6:44Andrew Santino?

  Oh, yes, right.

• 6:45Speaker 06

And then they, some little darling bunch of women that had a lot of time on their hands, got up in there and saying, "Let's redo this thing."

• 6:52Andrew Santino?

  Let's make this beautiful.

• 6:53Speaker 06

Yeah, and let's keep it, not make it a parking lot, God love them.

• 6:56Andrew Santino?

  That's true.

• 6:56Speaker 06

Every theater I go to, they go, "Oh, yes."

• 6:59Andrew Santino?

  It's the same story.

• 7:00Speaker 06

Charlie Chaplin was here. There was porn in the 70s. They go through that whole thing. Very historic, but isn't that wonderful?

• 7:06Andrew Santino?

It is cool. Well, I like that they saved these theaters, because I, like, um, what is it? Uh, the Arlington Giraffe House, which is a movie theater. I don't know if you ever played that on the come up.

• 7:14Speaker 06

  No.

• 7:15Andrew Santino?

It was an old movie theater. I think they still maybe show movies, but you perform on that same stage. And it's really beautiful, because they sit in, you know, these like movie theater type chairs. And it's nice that there's, I like that they saved those theaters, because it's easy to rip it down and build a new one.

• 7:29Speaker 06

  I know.

• 7:29Andrew Santino?

Because that's what everybody does with everything now.

• 7:30Speaker 07

That was, uh, the Aztec in San Antonio.

• 7:32Andrew Santino?

  Aztec, same thing, yeah.

• 7:33Speaker 07

As well was a Vaudeville theater from the 20s.

• 7:35Speaker 06

You know, and I lived in San Antonio when my children were little, and I got started at Cap City Comedy Club. That's where my...

• 7:41Andrew Santino?

  Really?

• 7:42Speaker 06

I consider that my home club. And I would drive back and forth, but I also did the River Center in San Antonio, that was in the mall. But I worked the Majestic in San Antonio. I never got to work the, that one y'all are talking about.

• 7:54Speaker 07

  The Aztec?

• 7:55Andrew Santino?

  Aztec Theater.

• 7:56Speaker 06

Uh-huh, and I, I need to go and see that.

• 7:58Andrew Santino?

It's beautiful. But yeah, the, um, San Antonio, uh, I, I will be honest, underrated. It doesn't get, Texas gets this thing where it's like Dallas, you know, Houston, uh, and then Austin, get kind of this, this love. But San Antonio kind of gets not talked about comedy-wise. It's a phenomenal comedy city.

• 8:16Speaker 06

  LOL.

• 8:17Andrew Santino?

  LOL, it's, it's great.

• 8:18Speaker 06

  That LOL Comedy Club.

• 8:19Andrew Santino?

Yeah, that was the first club I played out there, was LOL. And everyone was so nice, and I thought, "Man, this never gets kind of high praise." For some reason, Austin, Dallas, and Houston get more praise, but I loved it down there.

• 8:30Speaker 06

I love San Antonio. You're talking about a fun place to live.

• 8:33Andrew Santino?

  Oh, yeah.

• 8:34Speaker 06

  Oh, darling.

• 8:35Andrew Santino?

I just like that you can fall into that river so easily. They make it, it's a bunch of drunk people walking that riverwalk at night. I'm like, "This is a hazard."

• 8:42Speaker 06

  I know.

• 8:42Andrew Santino?

  This is a hazard.

• 8:43Speaker 06

  It is a hazard.

• 8:44Andrew Santino?

Because you, because the, the walkway is about, you know, a foot and a half wide, and you're kind of squiggling past people. And every time I went down there, I thought, "One drunk fool is going to stumble out of one of those bars and face plant in front of a group of tourists."

• 8:56Speaker 06

I bet there have been people down there.

• 8:57Andrew Santino?

  Oh, for sure.

• 8:58Speaker 07

Well, some of the restaurants, the tables and chairs are right on the river.

• 9:01Andrew Santino?

On the water. So you're, there, was it, you moved there because the father of your children was from there?

• 9:07Speaker 06

  No.

• 9:07Andrew Santino?

  No?

• 9:08Speaker 06

He, um, went to work for a big company that, um... He had his own little business, sold it and went to work for a big company, uh, manufactured homes. And they put him over South Texas. So he got a big promotion and we moved down there and my children were three, five and seven and I had started doing comedy, but.

• 9:30Speaker 06

  You know, not really.

• 9:31Andrew Santino?

  What year did you start?

• 9:31Speaker 06

I was in the foothills of the Appalachia mountains. There wasn't anywhere to do comedy. I'd done Zany's in Nashville, but. Um, that would have been like two thousand, nineteen ninety. No, like two thousand two, something like that.

• 9:43Andrew Santino?

The foothills of the Appalachians. It was the beginning. My, my stepdad, who's, who, who raised me is from a, a small town in North Carolina called Valdez. You don't know Valdez, do you?

• 9:54Speaker 06

  I don't know Valdez.

• 9:54Andrew Santino?

Hickory you may, Hickory you will know.

• 9:55Speaker 06

  Oh, Hickory, yes.

• 9:56Andrew Santino?

Everybody knows Hickory. Hickory is the one that people know because of furniture. And that's the closest to Valdez. It's like Hickory is right next door to there.

• 10:04Speaker 06

  Oh, and pretty, I'm sure.

• 10:05Andrew Santino?

Beautiful. Yeah, I grew up going out there. You know, we'd go visit my nanny and pal. We'd go see nanny and pal. And Pa would sit.

• 10:12Speaker 06

Could they have eaten your lips off? Did they think you were yummy with that red hair?

• 10:16Andrew Santino?

Yeah, they did. Yeah, they did.

• 10:18Speaker 06

Do you know I've got a redheaded grandbaby?

• 10:20Andrew Santino?

Well, I think you told me that. I do think you said that.

• 10:21Speaker 06

He's two and a half, honey, and he is beautiful.

• 10:24Andrew Santino?

Yeah, my nanny loved me. My Pa was much more of a reserved, old school. You know, kids would come in and he'd be like, y'all be careful. That was kind of it. I don't think, I don't think we got much, I don't think I said more than like thirty words to Pa. Every time I saw him. He's a very quiet man. Uh, and didn't like nonsense in the house.

• 10:43Speaker 06

Oh, that's Chuck Morgan. That's my husband.

• 10:44Andrew Santino?

That's your husband. Okay, good. That's your husband. That's my grandfather. Take it outside. Yeah, take it outside.

• 10:48Speaker 06

  Take it outside.

• 10:49Andrew Santino?

There's a basketball goal out there. Go ahead and shoot on that and go ahead and get dirty down there. Don't bring that inside. Y'all are dirty. Take off all them clothes before y'all come inside. I'd hear that all the time. You shoe, are those shoes supposed to be on inside? I'm like, no. But we're a little Chicago city trash, so we didn't know anybody. I didn't know that. The country world was, they were like, you better not come in here running around making a mess. I was like, okay, you got it. Yeah, he was, they were the sweetest people and they had, they, when I was a kid, he used to have a bunch of land. They had, I mean, they, they, they, obviously when they passed, they sold that, that property, but they had. Cows and he, uh, was a beekeeper. I was fascinated with him. Yeah, he was a great dude.

• 11:28Speaker 06

  Oh, my darling.

• 11:29Andrew Santino?

Yeah, great, a, a great man. And I loved going out there because it was different than anything I'd ever seen. Dairy Queen was like.

• 11:37Andrew Santino?

The big hang. Y'all gonna go down to Dairy Queen, get dropped off, go run around down there. Go see some people in town. That's what it was, was go. That was like town meet, it was either church or Dairy Queen is where you could meet people. Otherwise, you're at home.

• 11:49Speaker 06

  You're right.

• 11:49Andrew Santino?

Yeah. That was kind of where they would go.

• 11:52Speaker 06

  Oh, my gosh.

• 11:53Andrew Santino?

It was a small, tiny, tiny town. Yeah. But now, you're a big city girl. You're in Nashville, right?

• 11:58Speaker 06

  I live in Knoxville.

• 11:59Andrew Santino?

  Oh, you do?

• 12:00Speaker 06

But I was raised outside of Nashville in a very small farming community of 500 people. Well, now they tell me there's 624.

• 12:09Andrew Santino?

  Well, people had kids.

• 12:10Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 12:11Andrew Santino?

Yeah, somebody had to have a couple of kids to keep it going.

• 12:13Speaker 06

Some people have moved in and out that we don't know. There's a Dollar General now, so.

• 12:17Andrew Santino?

  Ooh.

• 12:18Speaker 06

When I go, I see some people. I'm like, I don't know your people. But, but yeah, I live in Knoxville where I've raised my children.

• 12:25Andrew Santino?

  Big UT fans or no?

• 12:27Speaker 06

Uh huh, yes, honey. I just went to the game.

• 12:30Andrew Santino?

  Good win last week.

• 12:31Speaker 06

Uh, yeah. And I met Peyton Manning. For the first time, I didn't know Cooper, his other, his, the brother besides Eli, the one that's got Arch Manning that plays for Tennessee.

• 12:42Andrew Santino?

  That's exactly right.

• 12:43Speaker 06

  His daddy.

• 12:43Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 12:43Speaker 06

Alright, so I met Peyton, who, and I'd done a movie that Peyton was in, but I didn't get to meet him. He wasn't there the same time I was. And then, little Tony Vitello, who is our baseball, who just went with the San Francisco Giants, and we've all grieved, but we're happy for him.

• 12:59Andrew Santino?

We just talked about him literally yesterday. He is the new manager of the Giants.

• 13:02Speaker 06

  Bad mama jama, honey.

• 13:03Andrew Santino?

  Good dude, a good dude.

• 13:04Speaker 06

  Yeah, darling.

• 13:05Andrew Santino?

Well, he deserves the promotion. You gotta go to the big show at some point.

• 13:08Speaker 06

You do. And we all are happy for him.

• 13:10Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 13:10Speaker 06

But he built our program and it was wonderful.

• 13:13Andrew Santino?

Well, and now the reins get passed to somebody else.

• 13:16Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 13:16Andrew Santino?

We have more in common than you think then. My father went to university, my stepdad went to Tennessee. And my sister went to Tennessee. I am the.

• 13:23Speaker 06

  Andrew.

• 13:23Andrew Santino?

I'm the red sheep. I should have gone. I didn't go. I know, I made it.

• 13:26Speaker 06

You would have had them all and girls would have done horrible things to you.

• 13:30Andrew Santino?

You know, unspeakable things? Watch it on Netflix. See how I do that? Shoehorn it in, baby. No, I went to Arizona State because I'm not a bright, I'm not that bright of a guy.

• 13:38Speaker 06

  Oh, but that's fun.

• 13:40Andrew Santino?

It was more fun than school. Yeah, it was fun over, it was fun than school. Tennessee would have been fun and school pretty parallel. But I could, I don't think I could have gotten into Tennessee. Uh, they wouldn't have wanted me.

• 13:50Speaker 06

Well, when I got in, I mean, they let anybody in.

• 13:52Andrew Santino?

  Did they?

• 13:53Speaker 06

Oh, my ACT score was pitiful.

• 13:56Andrew Santino?

See, we did, we did only ACT. We never did SAT.

• 14:00Speaker 06

  My people didn't do SAT.

• 14:01Andrew Santino?

Yeah, we didn't do that. You didn't do that in Minnesota either.

• 14:03Speaker 07

I did, well, I, we did ACT.

• 14:04Andrew Santino?

You did ACTs, yeah. Do you remember your ACT number?

• 14:07Speaker 06

Yes, and you'll never know it. You're too cute for me to, my children have asked me, when I've got the flu, hoping that I'll be hallucinating and tell them, but I'm not ever gonna tell anybody. It was pitiful. But I only took it one time and, okay, I was in my little town, my little bitty high school that was sweet, but, and not up college prep, but sweet. We didn't know what dope was. Okay, and then my sister was at Austin P. Have you ever heard of Austin P. in Clarksville in the OVC?

• 14:35Andrew Santino?

  Uh-uh, no.

• 14:37Speaker 06

Okay, well, she went to school there and had a ball, was in a sorority and thrived in homecoming queen. And I drove down to Austin P. and spent the night with her to take the ACT and I, we didn't have cable yet where I was from. And she had cable in her dorm room and I sat up all night and watched cable and Benny Hill.

• 14:58Andrew Santino?

  Oh, wow.

• 14:58Speaker 06

And then, so I was kind of out of it when I went to take my ACT. Then I went to McDonald's, got hot coffee, burned my tongue on it, and then I just gassed. I just gassed. I was tired. Nobody ever, but I'm, I hate to even tell this in front of you because I would have wanted to date you. I just turned sixty.

• 15:20Andrew Santino?

Wow. Yeah, but you are, you're not sixty. That's a number, but you're not actually sixty.

• 15:26Speaker 06

Thank you. I don't feel like I am.

• 15:27Andrew Santino?

You shouldn't. I mean, you're married, I'm married. We could still date, but we have to wait. We really gotta wait. We gotta take some time.

• 15:33Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 15:34Andrew Santino?

  But sixty, oh my god.

• 15:35Speaker 06

I just turned sixty, uh, October the third.

• 15:37Andrew Santino?

You got any secrets? What's the secret? Why do you look, why do you look so good?

• 15:41Speaker 06

Oh, you angel, I feel like I don't. I feel like I've eaten a lot of. White flower and stuff. When I saw myself on TV in that television series, I thought, ooh, no wonder all these little Hollywood people don't eat. It's terrible. My big butt.

• 15:56Andrew Santino?

No, no, big butts are in. They're back. We love big butts.

• 15:58Speaker 06

Well, they were in for a while with the Kardashian girls, but then somebody just told me that all those little girls that got their butt implants, or they're getting them out.

• 16:07Andrew Santino?

Well, that's probably because they're on, it's probably toxic to have this.

• 16:09Speaker 07

Well, they were doing it for the wrong reasons.

• 16:11Andrew Santino?

Right, they were, right. Yours is natural. You're all natural.

• 16:13Speaker 06

  It was natural.

• 16:14Andrew Santino?

Those inserts of the BBL thing, that has to be toxic and can't be good for you.

• 16:18Speaker 06

What is it made of? What's a butt made out of?

• 16:21Andrew Santino?

That's why he's my little research king. He'll find out very fast.

• 16:23Speaker 07

I believe it's made out of stomach fat, but let's figure it out.

• 16:25Andrew Santino?

No, no, no, no. That's, that is, that is.

• 16:27Speaker 06

  Oh, I wish they.

• 16:28Speaker 07

Well, that is a Brazilian belly.

• 16:29Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, BBLs.

• 17:30Speaker 07

  Yeah, patients own fat.

• 17:32Andrew Santino?

Your own fat. But what if you didn't have any fat?

• 17:34Speaker 06

I didn't know you could do that.

• 17:36Speaker 07

I mean, maybe you could get it donated, but I believe it has to be, I think it's like, cause also cells are better when it's from your.

• 17:42Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, from your own body.

• 17:43Speaker 07

It's like pulling hair from the back of your neck or on your head.

• 17:45Andrew Santino?

It's better for you. You can't use foreign, you don't want foreign cells.

• 17:47Speaker 07

  Your body will reject it.

• 17:49Andrew Santino?

  That's right.

• 17:49Speaker 06

  Oh.

• 17:50Andrew Santino?

No, but I know, I understand this anxiety of seeing yourself on TV, so I don't, I won't, I pretty vehemently refuse to watch something that I do.

• 18:00Speaker 06

Do you see, I don't like to watch it.

• 18:02Andrew Santino?

Oof. It gives, like editing a special too, like when you edit this special.

• 18:06Speaker 06

  Oh.

• 18:07Andrew Santino?

And the poor editors is like, is this okay? And you're like, well, you could always, you could dump all of it if I'm being honest. I don't like, I don't like almost any of that. But it is hard to watch yourself because you get overly critical. You're like, why did I look, why did I, what was that face? Or what's that movement? And then I see other people, it looks like it, you know, out of sight, out of mind. Looks like they're just flowing through it. But when you first saw yourself on the Netflix show, it, yeah, you hated it, didn't you?

• 18:27Speaker 06

  Excruciating.

• 18:28Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, I know.

• 18:29Speaker 06

And then Kristen Johnson, who plays my sister in Third Rock from the Sun and all that pro. She goes, Lynn, it's about being funny. It's not about beauty. But it, that's hard for me because being in the South in my age, it was all about beauty.

• 18:41Andrew Santino?

It's all about beauty, yeah. Were you a pageant girl when you were a young girl?

• 18:44Speaker 06

I was in one, I was in one and I thought it was stupid. But I don't care if anybody else does them. It was not for me. There was no, I didn't do any kind of talent. It wasn't that kind. It was like in the Robertson County Fair. So it was pretty pitiful.

• 18:57Andrew Santino?

  Did you place?

• 18:59Speaker 06

Um, I got in the top 10. But what I did, I took a wrong turn. Every, we were, and I know what the turn was and I don't know why in my mind, I thought, I am not doing that. And I went the wrong way. And so I didn't make it to the top five or whatever. But it was okay, things turned out for me.

• 19:15Andrew Santino?

You took a wrong turn, literally.

• 19:16Speaker 06

Yeah, literally took a, yeah. And I knew what I was supposed to do. I don't know if, if subconsciously I was like, this is stupid. I'm not gonna do it.

• 19:24Andrew Santino?

  Mm-hmm.

• 19:25Speaker 06

Right. But, but my sister was in Miss Tennessee and she got misphotogenic. But, and I had to go help her and I thought, oh, that was stupid. But not for, I mean, for me, I don't mind if anybody else was, but I thought, what are we doing? I mean, it was just a lot of for nothing. But I liked, I wanted to be funny, you know?

• 19:45Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 19:45Speaker 06

  But pretty.

• 19:46Andrew Santino?

  Pretty and funny.

• 19:47Speaker 06

  Pretty and funny.

• 19:48Andrew Santino?

Yeah, but you got both. By the way, we lost half of the South audience that's livid with us right now. It is such a point of pride for so many, it's, I'm fascinated by it because it, they put so much into it and they spend. I imagine now hundreds of thousands of dollars, it's mind blowing to me.

• 20:06Speaker 06

When my sister was in it, and we were just little country girls. I remember there, there were girls there that had a tan. My sister was white as a sheet. It was before there was spray tanning and all that, and she had to do a bathing suit. She was beautiful in a bathing suit. But these girls, their daddies that had money, flew them to like the Bahamas to get a tan.

• 20:26Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, you couldn't do that.

• 20:28Speaker 06

And, yeah, and their mamas and everybody was fussing over everybody and freaked out. I just thought, it wasn't fun.

• 20:34Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, it loses the fun.

• 20:35Speaker 06

  I like fun.

• 20:35Andrew Santino?

Yeah, yeah. What do you do for fun? What's, what's LeAnn Morgan's fun now? What is it now?

• 20:40Speaker 06

Well, now it's kissing on grandbabies and buying like toys.

• 20:43Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 20:44Speaker 06

  You know?

• 20:45Andrew Santino?

How many grandbabies do you have?

• 20:46Speaker 06

  Two, two boys.

• 20:47Andrew Santino?

Which one do you like more?

• 20:48Speaker 06

Honey, I love them both so much I could eat their teeth out. But that new one, the redhead, doesn't know me as much as, I mean, he'll go to me and loves on me and kisses me goodbye and all that. But he doesn't run to me because I've been working so much. And they run to Chuck Morgan. But the whiteheaded one, the oldest one, is like grandmama, grandmama, grandmama, because he, because I buy him stuff and I let him do whatever he wants to.

• 21:15Andrew Santino?

What do you, what do you prefer to be called? This was a big thing of the nanny and paw was kind of a driven in by the older cousins was nanny and paw. What do you want to be called?

• 21:24Speaker 06

  I wanted grandmama.

• 21:25Andrew Santino?

  You like grandmama?

• 21:26Speaker 06

I like grandmama. Yeah, I don't have to be like Mimi, Gigi, all that.

• 21:30Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 21:30Speaker 06

  I wanted mama in there.

• 21:32Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 21:32Speaker 06

Because I'm, you know, because, and I've got a wonderful daughter-in-law who's been, is a wonderful mother, but, and it's not that I think they're my babies.

• 21:41Andrew Santino?

But you do a little bit.

• 21:42Speaker 06

  But I do.

• 21:43Andrew Santino?

Yeah, I do a little bit. Well, it's by, by, by way of your blood, so it is, it's yours.

• 21:47Speaker 06

  They're mine.

• 21:48Andrew Santino?

Yeah, and, and by the way, if they need, you can take care of them and you would.

• 21:52Speaker 06

  Yes.

• 21:53Andrew Santino?

Yeah, so it is kind of yours.

• 21:54Speaker 06

Yeah, and I've got everything set up in my house for them.

• 21:57Andrew Santino?

You do. Do you have like a dedicated area just for the, I saw that shift of like, Uh, my wife's nieces, um, you know, there's a dedicated room in the basement just for the girls. And it is, it used to be, uh, her parents', like, um, extracurricular room, like, it had exercise equipment. And it was a dance room for my wife at one time when she was a little girl. And now it was just for the girls, but they're getting older and they moved, but they're getting older and I watched it uh, change back into an exercise room, which, that was a little sad. Cause you watch it go from the kids' toys to like, now, the, uh, all the clothes are finally off of the treadmill again. Now it's back to another thing you won't use. Like, we have stuff in the house, we got one of these row machines sent to us and I used it a bunch when I first got it and like everything, you know, like, I'm not gonna, I don't wanna, that's gonna sit there.

• 22:42Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 22:43Andrew Santino?

  It's just, it's hard.

• 22:44Speaker 06

  I used to row.

• 22:45Andrew Santino?

  You did?

• 22:46Speaker 06

When I did CrossFit, I loved it.

• 22:47Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 22:48Speaker 06

  And my boy rows.

• 22:49Andrew Santino?

  You were a CrossFit queen?

• 22:51Speaker 06

  Yeah, kinda.

• 22:52Andrew Santino?

  And you give it up?

• 22:53Speaker 06

  In my mid 40s.

• 22:55Andrew Santino?

  Don't say it like that.

• 22:56Speaker 06

It was, I was going, I hate to even say this in front of you, and I know we're not dating.

• 23:01Andrew Santino?

  We are, a little.

• 23:02Speaker 06

But I, okay, I was going through, I'm starting perimenopause, I hate to even say that in front of you boys. And I don't, it was just too hard on my cortisol levels, I'll just say that. I need to get back to it, cause I really liked it and I'll, I'm athletic and I like to be athletic. And, uh, and if somebody says you're gonna win like three free months of training or something, that motivates me.

• 23:25Andrew Santino?

What was, when you were, when you were a young little girl, did you, like, you played a sport, did you do team sports?

• 23:29Speaker 06

Yeah, I loved basketball and volleyball. I, they made me play softball because I was tall and my hospital made me play everything, but I did not care for softball. I was a catcher. I just did not dig it.

• 23:41Andrew Santino?

I don't think you would be big enough to be a catcher, don't they have to be pretty stout?

• 23:45Speaker 06

Yeah, and then, and squatting and doing all that, I should've been the shortstop or something, that was more glamorous.

• 23:51Andrew Santino?

  That is way more glamorous.

• 23:52Speaker 06

But I loved basketball and volleyball, loved it.

• 23:55Andrew Santino?

Were, which, were you better at one or the other?

• 23:57Speaker 06

  Probably better at volleyball.

• 23:59Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, you could jump.

• 24:01Speaker 06

Well, and, yeah, and I didn't, uh, after I got a little older and I cared about boys and stuff, I didn't wanna box out on somebody in public. You know?

• 24:11Andrew Santino?

You don't want to see a crush, you don't want a crush to see you boxing out.

• 24:14Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 24:14Andrew Santino?

Yeah, you don't want to see.

• 24:15Speaker 06

No, and, and I remember my freshman year, my coach who I loved, tell me, he said, we're gonna put, you need, we put twenty seven, twenty-five pounds on you. Over the summer.

• 24:24Andrew Santino?

  Twenty-five pounds?

• 24:25Speaker 06

He said, let's get you to, to gain twenty-five pounds, because, because I was playing forward at the time, I don't even know what they call them, now don't they call them something different?

• 24:33Andrew Santino?

No, they're forwards. Yeah, no, the post is, the post is the five seed, you, but everything shifts now, but yes, you could be a four.

• 24:38Speaker 06

Well, okay, sometimes I was center, the play center, and I had this in an old bit, if Mary Dowell had to take her baby to the health department. There was a girl that had two babies while we were in high school, and if they had to get their shots, then Coach Savage would say to me, you're gonna have to play Mary's, you're gonna have to be center. But I was normally a forward, but I was thin, very thin, not now, but I was very thin, you know, like a hundred and twenty pounds and, and five-eight, and he would say, you're gonna have to put on weight. But so you can box out under the, you know.

• 25:12Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 25:13Speaker 06

And be a big old girl, and I remember going home and telling my daddy, and he was like, no, you're not gonna do that. No.

• 25:20Andrew Santino?

That's so great, that twenty, by the way, Coach Savage, twenty-five is a little, that's a little much, twenty-five is, that is a big difference, twenty-five pounds, what did he want you to eat, all of it? Everything, go home, raid the cabinets.

• 25:30Speaker 06

I don't know, but I was like all in, you know, when I was a freshman, and then, then I discovered boys, and I was like, I don't care.

• 25:37Andrew Santino?

  Out on all that.

• 25:38Speaker 06

Yeah, I'm, I'm still playing, but you know, I hot rolled my hair, and it was the eighties, you know, we wore those short shorts, and I had big hair, and had, you know, it was all, I dazzled.

• 25:50Andrew Santino?

  You dazzled.

• 25:50Speaker 06

Yeah, I was thinking the whole time I'm going to Hollywood, you know, and I'm fun, I would sit on the bench and talk too much, like in timeouts, and he was saying, enough, Lynn. You know, I'm, I'm always disrupted.

• 26:03Andrew Santino?

Yeah, but that's why you do what you do, you always knew you wanted to do stand-up, like when you were young, were you like?

• 26:08Speaker 06

Um, when I was little bitty, and I feel like I'm, I wanted to be in show business like by nine or ten years old, but I didn't know, I would love, I watched stand-ups. On TV, but I loved Saturday Night Live.

• 26:20Andrew Santino?

  Oh, yeah.

• 26:21Speaker 06

And I loved, uh, sitcoms, and I just didn't know. That you could even do stand up until I went to, I mean, I would watch stand up, um, like David Letterman and J- and, um, Jay Leno and different people on Carson.

• 26:35Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 26:35Speaker 06

But Chuck Morgan, before we got married, brought me out here. My sister was living in Huntington Beach and I went to the Comedy Store. And that was the first time that I thought, my heart was beating out of my body and I thought, I could do this. This is what it is. This is what it is.

• 26:52Andrew Santino?

  That's pretty beautiful.

• 26:52Speaker 06

But I never, but there was a club in Knoxville, at the University of Tennessee, I'd never even, it didn't dawn on me to go to a club. And Steve Harvey had come through there. It was like a lot of people had come through there.

• 27:04Andrew Santino?

And the club in Knoxville, yeah.

• 27:05Speaker 06

And I just, it, I don't know. I just, you know, I was at UT and I was kind of flailing and didn't know and thinking, why am I even here? Cause I wanted to go into showbiz. It was just all stupid.

• 27:18Andrew Santino?

  It is.

• 27:19Speaker 06

And I ended up graduating from the University of Tennessee and they've been so good to me. And I'm so scared somebody's gonna announce my GPA. But it all happened for a reason, you know? I do, I do think it, now that I've seen Hollywood and these young people out here and what they have to go through, I think that was God's protection over me. That I didn't even know what to do at eighteen to twenty-five. I would be on dope now. I think I would be on dope.

• 27:47Andrew Santino?

  No, no.

• 27:48Speaker 06

I would have been so, I was so insecure. I dated people that, I'd say that you wouldn't wipe your feet on. I don't, if I'd have come out here, people could have talked me into anything.

• 27:58Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 27:58Speaker 06

I was so naive and stupid.

• 28:02Andrew Santino?

Well, we are, well, I mean, I still am. I'm here. I live here. I'm, I'm naive and stupid and I'm forty-two. But I do, but I do get the idea that this place can wrap up young people in a way. It's, it's really wild. It's dark. I mean, and it could be, it doesn't have to be for negative, but it does wrap you up and you kind of get self, you know? You get super selfish, cause you, all you're thinking about is how can I achieve? It's me, me, me. You know, that, that happens in a bad way. But you became a mama, so that helped separate the mind from, it's all about me. Now it's all about them.

• 28:33Speaker 06

  Mm-hmm.

• 28:33Andrew Santino?

And now, you know, well, now you're living high on the hog. You're free and. Super successful.

• 28:38Speaker 06

And I got to have, you know, this, my children and Reese Witherspoon, the one movie I've done, I was played her big sister and she would say to me every day, "You got to raise your own children, Lynn." Cause a lot of these girls, you know, come out here and they gotta hustle.

• 28:52Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 28:53Speaker 06

You know, and I don't, I think if I'd have come out here at 20, 25, I don't still, I don't know. I just don't think it would have, I would have survived it.

• 29:01Andrew Santino?

But this is not, you would never move to the west coast?

• 29:05Speaker 06

  You mean full time?

• 29:06Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 29:08Speaker 06

  I don't think so.

• 29:09Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 29:10Speaker 06

Now that I'm old girl, 60, I like east Tennessee, I do. And you know, I live out here while I feel, I lived out here seven months this past year.

• 29:19Andrew Santino?

  Sure.

• 29:19Speaker 06

And I got attached to it. When I first came here, I thought, "Oh my gosh, this is kinda scary." Lot of, even though I tour everywhere, just like you do, there's homeless people everywhere.

• 29:29Andrew Santino?

Oh yeah. But we got them, we got, we got the gold standard here. We're number one. Nobody's got homeless like we do. You think you've seen it all? We've got more. We keep them coming.

• 29:38Speaker 06

  Y'all do have a lot.

• 29:38Andrew Santino?

It's like matrushka, like Russian dolls. They just keep, they never stop. It's pretty terrible. It's, well, the, the terrible thing about it truly is the, uh, not to get into the weeds of it, but it's just like the politics around, there is no, there's not enough help and there's not enough ways to fix it. So we're kind of at a, we're at a, uh, a standstill. It just kind of exists now.

• 29:59Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 30:00Andrew Santino?

It's, it stinks. East Tennessee, not a lot of homeless.

• 30:02Speaker 06

We have some homeless, we do.

• 30:04Andrew Santino?

But you know them by name.

• 30:05Speaker 06

Yeah, and they, they're, they live under a bridge.

• 30:08Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 30:09Speaker 06

And I used to volunteer for, um, for them and, uh, this thing and it, and it was sweet. And I, and somehow I can talk to people on crack, you know? And, or that are mentally ill, that are, like, uh, my job in that charity was to give women fine bras to fit them and, and a fresh pair of panties, you know?

• 30:31Andrew Santino?

  Everybody needs them.

• 30:32Speaker 06

Everybody needs a fresh pair of panties. And then I, I loved putting together bags where it had like a chapstick. Can you imagine being out in this and you don't have sunscreen or chapstick or water?

• 30:43Andrew Santino?

I wasn't built to be home. I would be, I would, yeah, like, he lives under the bridge. Does he ever come out of the bridge? No, he stays under there. I would not move until it gets dark. Yeah, no, it's, it's terrible. It really is. It's awful.

• 30:54Speaker 06

And they, and a lot of them truly cannot help it. But I had a way with, you know, finding Bernice who made turtle soup from Arkansas who liked to fight. I got her a double G bra. And that gave me a lot of um, hope and um, yeah, and thrill out of that. I don't know, they, they, they had a good time with me, but, but, so I do worry about. But when I came out here, I saw the homeless and I thought that was scary. And then I got over all that and then the fires happened.

• 31:26Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 31:27Speaker 06

I was out here during the fires and that was frightening. I've never, we don't have that in East Tennessee. And then, and that made me feel terrible for everybody, that was terrible. And then I got robbed.

• 31:37Andrew Santino?

What you, what do you mean? Your home gotten?

• 31:39Speaker 06

My home that I was renting got robbed, but I was in Palm Springs doing a casino. So they cased it out. So it, I never, I didn't feel shaken by it though. Honest, I mean, I, I thought it was bizarre. It was like little acrobatic men. That were, they had film of it, cause we rented from this, um, I rented from a TV star. Who had security, you know, everybody out here's got security and, and they had it on film. And they said, we don't want you to look at the film because you'll be freaked out. Cause they shimmied on each other, they got up on each other's shoulders and went up a stucco wall. Like acrobatic.

• 32:16Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, circus folk.

• 32:17Speaker 06

  Circus folk.

• 32:18Andrew Santino?

And good for them, they got, you gotta use your talents.

• 32:20Speaker 06

Yeah, but they didn't get anything, cause we didn't have anything.

• 32:22Andrew Santino?

  There was nothing to rob.

• 32:23Speaker 06

  No.

• 32:23Andrew Santino?

That's pretty terrible. So you didn't even, you didn't really get the full burgled experience.

• 32:27Speaker 06

No, and it didn't freak me out, it really didn't. And then, once I was here for a while, I thought it, and, and not, you know, trying to get over how to learn how to shoot a sitcom, which terrified me.

• 32:38Andrew Santino?

  It is.

• 32:39Speaker 06

Then I thought, terrifying. Then I thought, oh my gosh, this is really the most beautiful state. This is a beautiful state.

• 32:47Andrew Santino?

There's a lot of prettiness to the place, yes. A, a lot of, there's a lot of ugly things about it, but it is gorgeous. I mean, the mountains and the water and the desert. If you like those things, we got them.

• 32:56Speaker 06

  You got them.

• 32:57Andrew Santino?

  We got them.

• 32:57Speaker 06

And then I thought, I really thought it was a lot of really sweet people here.

• 36:10Speaker 06

When did you come out here?

• 36:11Andrew Santino?

I moved out here in 4th of July 2006. I moved to Southern California with a bunch of kids from college who were California kids. And I knew if I was gonna go home, I probably wouldn't commit to stand up. And Chicago has a great comedy scene historically, but I just thought if I go home, I'm in trouble. Because I'll be too close to home.

• 36:31Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 36:32Andrew Santino?

So I knew if I didn't get away, I don't think I would've committed as hard. It was sink or swim for me. So I was like, I need to go out there. I didn't want the safety net of, well, I'll just go back to mom's house if I need to, or, you know what I mean? Or, I just wanted to, I wanted the struggle to really try to do it. So 2006, I moved to Long Beach. Shout out Belmont Shore, one of the greatest places, still beautiful. And got to live with another friend on a couch, and then we got a little spot, and then moved up to LA in 07, and started the grind. Started the comedy store.

• 37:05Speaker 06

And I admire that, because I just didn't have the guts.

• 37:07Andrew Santino?

No, you did have the guts. You were just too smart to, well, look, it took, it takes you so long, and you dedicate every waking minute of it to it when you're that young, because you don't know any better. But the unfortunate twist is, you don't get to live life as much, because you're paying so much attention to the thing, you're so anxious about it, that, you know, you kind of forget to live. It's good and bad, you know? Like, it's great to dedicate, but I did see a lot of my other friends... Start job, have jobs, start families younger because they, they could do life and work. And out here, when you move here and you're 21, 22, you have horse pliner. You could, all you do is go to the club, go to your day job, go to the club, go to your day job, go to the club, go to a, you know, go to an open mic and then drive here and go down to Hermosa

• 37:52Andrew Santino?

for $25. It costs you more money to go down than to, it was so silly, but you got, that's what you had to do.

• 37:57Speaker 06

I know, I know, y'all, and I don't know how y'all do it. Cause even when, like out here, when they'll, they'll put me in a bunch of spots.

• 38:04Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 38:04Speaker 06

You're like, where's parking? Where, and then, you know, somebody hands you $25. And, but it's nifty, it's nifty to do all that, but I'm like, I don't know that I could have taken it. That's a lot.

• 38:17Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 38:17Speaker 06

  What y'all done.

• 38:18Andrew Santino?

It was, well, everyone's journey was different, but also, you know, I do think, uh, the times have changed now with the internet because people now, young comics can make their own career happen a little bit faster and on their own accord. Which we didn't have the, it just didn't exist. We had to turn in tapes, turning in tapes was the hardest thing.

• 38:36Speaker 06

And see, I don't, Comedy Central did not want me.

• 38:39Andrew Santino?

  What, seriously?

• 38:40Speaker 06

Uh-uh. I was, I started out really, I call Austin, kept City Comedy Club was my home club. And, uh, and they had, people were always coming through there. Just for laughs, Montreal, Aspen, um, I auditioned for all that. Comedy Central was always coming through there and they didn't, and they didn't want me.

• 38:59Andrew Santino?

And look at them now. They don't exist. Who won that war, Comedy Central? Huh? You thought you knew? You didn't know anything. And now Netflix got you. And you're like a Netflix darling now, so stay in that, stay on that track.

• 39:14Speaker 06

I know, that feels pretty good.

• 39:15Andrew Santino?

  It's amazing.

• 39:47Speaker 01

• 40:16Speaker 06

That was pretty wonderful when Netflix gave me a special. I feel like that's the stamp.

• 40:21Andrew Santino?

It is. Well, that is the stamp. That is kind of like the... Of all the people that said no or whatever, them having... Them validating you because you're already... You know you're already good, but them also going, "Oh yeah, we recognize this good." I mean, that's a... It's a great moment. And you deserve it. And now you're gonna have to put out more specials, though. You gotta keep pumping them out.

• 40:40Speaker 06

  I know.

• 40:41Andrew Santino?

  The fans want it.

• 40:41Speaker 06

Now, I've gotta come up with a whole new hour and give them one in 2027. But I really wanna be with you and Bobby Lee.

• 40:48Andrew Santino?

  You do?

• 40:49Speaker 06

I do! And I wanna play... You know, I've messaged you and said I wanna play golf. You know, and I don't play golf because I'm from the country. Chuck Morgan plays golf.

• 40:57Andrew Santino?

I'd love to play with Chuck Morgan.

• 40:58Speaker 06

And he was raised in a country club.

• 41:00Andrew Santino?

Well, why don't you do this? Why don't you get Chuck Morgan to come play golf with me and you can ride in the cart? We'll walk, you can ride in the cart. You and my wife will ride in the cart. And this will be... We'll be a nice little happy family.

• 41:11Speaker 06

  Oh, that would be wonderful.

• 41:12Andrew Santino?

But you gotta bring your daughters. Apparently, your daughters need to come out as well, right?

• 41:15Speaker 06

They do. And my baby is my makeup artist, so she lives with me in LA when I'm out here.

• 41:19Andrew Santino?

  Oh, seriously?

• 41:20Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 41:20Andrew Santino?

  Oh, that's great.

• 41:21Speaker 06

The middle child is in nonprofit and just moved to New York and works for the New York Food Bank.

• 41:26Andrew Santino?

So, good people you've raised. What about the other one?

• 41:29Speaker 06

  They are.

• 41:29Andrew Santino?

  What about the other one?

• 41:30Speaker 06

  My boy from heaven.

• 41:31Andrew Santino?

  Yeah. What is he doing?

• 41:33Speaker 06

He works in, um, site construction under my... Chuck Morgan runs a division for that company. It's a Berkshire Hathaway Warren Buffett company, and Charlie works under him.

• 41:44Andrew Santino?

So, you're winning all the time?

• 41:46Speaker 06

  They're precious.

• 41:46Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 41:47Speaker 06

  They are!

• 41:48Andrew Santino?

  That's great.

• 41:49Speaker 06

And we always kid and say, "If they'd have been raised down here, they may not be the people they are now." You know, if...

• 41:56Andrew Santino?

  Probably.

• 41:56Speaker 06

Because I've had television deals since they were babies for development, for sitcoms, but they never made it.

• 42:01Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 42:01Speaker 06

And that baby is pretty bougie. And she always tells everybody, "I'd be out here on dope and a pair of Pradas."

• 42:09Speaker 06

  She loves, yeah, she's bougie.

• 42:11Andrew Santino?

How many versions of LeAnn did you pitch? Like, how many different times was this?

• 42:16Speaker 06

  Um, four before this one.

• 42:18Andrew Santino?

Isn't that, people don't know that at home. I think that's something that, we just literally spoke about that with Matt, who was just here about, you know, Matt and I sold a show together two and a half years ago. That is still not off the ground, you know, but we sold the show and then we tried to make it on this way, tried to make it here, and it keeps, you know, every, I think it's, it's semantics that people, would bore people to death, but it is interesting how many times it takes to get something done. You know, and he said to me, I said, "What are we even doing with that?" He said, "Well, I mean, uh, what did he say? Um, what show took almost 10 years? Succession, right?

• 42:48Speaker 06

  Succession.

• 42:49Andrew Santino?

Yeah, Succession took like eight and a half years to make or some nine years. Yeah, it was just, I think people had said no to it over the years. It kept changing and shaping and then, then look, they made a brilliant show.

• 42:58Speaker 06

  I love that show.

• 42:59Andrew Santino?

But that's what happens. Those first couple of times, you get it and you're like, "Is this it?" And they're like, "No, this isn't it." Like, "How about this one?" They're like, "No, it's not it either." But they do give you this false hope, so that's what the city does. So if you get away from it, I think it's easier probably to duck in, try, you know, go to the dance and then leave. We're still, I'm staying, I'm staying in the field house. We live in the dance. It's like a creepy, waiting for it to come back around. You know what I mean? It's very strange. I mean, and Hollywood is so shifted now, which, which is why I think it's so important. What, like, what you're doing is you making a show. It's you. It's a return to the old days of like, you know, why Seinfeld or why everyone loves Raymond or these shows were, because it was about, it was a version of them.

• 43:41Andrew Santino?

It wasn't their, wasn't, you know, very literal, but, and then we went through this time when comics or, you know, comedic actors would make shows and they'd try to fit them in something. They'd go, "What if they own a pizza store?" And da-da-da-da, and, and it, and it seemed to kind of wane away. And I think now with the return of, "It's your show. It's you. It's your stories. It's your life." That's what people really want anyway. So, it's not a mystery why it got picked up again.

• 44:05Speaker 06

  Oh, you ain't.

• 44:06Andrew Santino?

No, I mean, it's, well, that's true. That's just the way it goes now. I mean, it's just a fact if you're making something real like that, based on your reality. Because your show is about being divorced after, oh, that's a phone call. Pick it up.

• 44:17Speaker 06

  My sister's so sorry. No.

• 44:18Andrew Santino?

No, no, it's fine. It's fine. And, and, uh, and we have that happen on the show sometimes, and I gotta tell you, we log it in and we dock the guests mentally. So, that's it. You're on my bad list now, no.

• 44:30Speaker 06

  Oh, Lord.

• 44:31Andrew Santino?

But yours is after thirty some odd years, right? Your husband leaves you.

• 44:35Speaker 06

  Uh huh.

• 44:35Andrew Santino?

  Thirty three years.

• 44:37Speaker 06

Thirty three years, he, he, uh, leaves me on an email for a younger woman and gets her pregnant.

• 44:43Andrew Santino?

By email is really, that's the toughest. You can't just call me?

• 44:47Speaker 06

Oh, and then, I know, and then that scene, cause I have to cry and all that. I, I don't know if you've even watched it. Promise me you'll, if you'll watch it, you'll start at like episode six.

• 44:59Andrew Santino?

Cause you, you don't want me to see you cry?

• 45:01Speaker 06

No, that, even though they said I did that well. But no, those first three episodes, I have this horrible look on my face, cause I'm so stressed out and thinking, I'm gonna pack up and leave every day. And I'm going back to Tennessee and I don't need this, I don't need this stress, cause it was a lot.

• 45:17Andrew Santino?

It is heavy. But I mean, did that help the character in the show?

• 45:20Speaker 06

I was so upset that you had helped me cry.

• 45:23Andrew Santino?

There you go. So, this is Hollywood, we break you.

• 45:26Speaker 06

But I also thought, but I also thought, what if Chuck Morgan really did this to me? What if he really did this to me and these children and these grandbabies? How catastrophic that event would be? And if I was a stay-at-home mom and didn't have any, didn't have a job or didn't have any, you know, devoted myself to him.

• 45:42Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 45:42Speaker 06

And that may help me cry.

• 45:44Andrew Santino?

That helped you get through it. But if he did do that to you, then the show would have been a murder mystery. It would have been a totally different show. It would have been LeAnn kills Chuck Morgan and what, how do we, how do we catch her? You'd be on the run. The whole show would be you on the run, which is also a good sequel. So, listen up Netflix executives, if you're looking for a spinoff of the show, make Chuck Morgan, uh, get killed by LeAnn and we'll pitch it later, right? We'll get it together, we'll pitch it later. But now, you're, so you've got to drum up a new hour. Is this anxiety inducing to try to get a new hour to get together on the road or no? Are you taking it, you taking your time?

• 46:17Speaker 06

I'm gonna have to take my, well, I am kind of, this second one, after my first Netflix special, when I came up with this hour that's, you know, came out on this special, that one is dawning to me, I don't know why, if I was just naive or, I don't know. Now I feel like, oh God, you know, cause this is the, really a fourth special, cause I did another special that I don't want anybody to watch.

• 46:42Andrew Santino?

  Where, does it exist anymore?

• 46:43Speaker 06

It does, on Hulu, and I don't get a dime for it.

• 46:46Andrew Santino?

No, Hulu, Hulu, uh, it's a one time-

• 46:48Speaker 06

  It's not Hulu's fault.

• 46:49Andrew Santino?

It's a one time, they bought it and probably distributed it, right, they licensed it, yeah.

• 46:52Speaker 06

It was a dry bar. You remember when all the-

• 46:54Andrew Santino?

Oh, Dry Bar, yeah, Dry Bar Comedy, yeah.

• 46:55Speaker 06

I did a dry bar a hundred years ago. Somehow it ended up on Hulu, and Amazon Prime.

• 47:02Andrew Santino?

Cause you signed that little contract and they, and in there it said, "We will use this in perpetuity, waiting for you to get very famous, and then we're gonna sell it. And they're gonna make a lot of money." Yeah, Hollywood, baby. Snark, it's just snakes, just snakes, man, snakes out here. But then, so now, you're saying this last one was more, uh, or-

• 47:22Speaker 06

I did okay with this, I mean, it's this now for two thousand and twenty-seven that I'm, cause I've got the television show to shoot, and then I'll start working it out.

• 47:32Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 47:32Speaker 06

I'm kinda working it out now, and I'll do some spots at Zany's over the holidays.

• 47:37Andrew Santino?

You like going down there to Zany's?

• 47:38Speaker 06

Yeah, I do. Brian Dorfman, Outback Concerts, they're my-

• 47:41Andrew Santino?

I know, we love the Dorf, we know, he's the sweetest little laugh on that guy. I, one, last time I saw him in the parking lot of the Comedy Store, I said, "You're in town, you didn't call me?" I said, "I'll break your knees next time you come to my town and not call me." He's like, "Oh, I'm here for one day, I'm going to a concert, dah dah dah," you know, he's a big, well, he lo, you know, he's a big deadhead and all that stuff, he loves that.

• 48:00Speaker 06

  The Grateful Dead.

• 48:00Andrew Santino?

  Uh huh, yeah.

• 48:01Speaker 06

Uh, but yeah, he, I was, I did my fir, he let me host for Billy Gardell when my baby child was eighteen months old.

• 48:11Andrew Santino?

  Really?

• 48:12Speaker 06

Uh huh, and he told me, he said, "I think you've got it, Liam, but you're, you've gotta raise three babies, there's no way you can do this in clubs like other..." He goes, "Roseanne Barr raised hers in a station wagon in a parking lot, and he goes, and it was too hard on those kids." And then I met Roseanne, like, three years ago, in a hotel-

• 48:33Andrew Santino?

  Bar.

• 48:33Speaker 06

  Bar.

• 48:34Andrew Santino?

  Mm-hmm, yeah.

• 48:35Speaker 06

Um, and she told me that whole story, and she said, "It was a good thing, Liam, that you didn't do it the way that I did." She said, "I, you got to raise your own children," there we go back to that.

• 48:45Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 48:45Speaker 06

  In Knoxville, Tennessee.

• 48:47Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 48:47Speaker 06

  I know.

• 48:48Andrew Santino?

That worked, well, that worked out better for you.

• 48:49Speaker 06

But I wanted to be one of y'all, I wanted to be one of the cool kids.

• 48:52Andrew Santino?

No, we're not cool at all, it's unfortunate, we're actually the polar opposite, we, we all, we're, we're all, we wish we were, but we're not, even when the facade is up on stage, you know? We're not, none of us are cool.

• 49:03Speaker 06

  I think you're pretty good.

• 49:04Andrew Santino?

  Well, that's you, that's, that's you.

• 49:06Speaker 06

You're playing golf with those Kelsey boys.

• 49:09Andrew Santino?

  Yes, I do, yes.

• 49:11Speaker 06

Okay, can we talk about them?

• 49:12Andrew Santino?

  Sure, whatever you want.

• 49:13Speaker 06

Because Donna, that's my claim to fame, Donna comes to my shows, they're mama.

• 49:17Andrew Santino?

  That's Mama Kelsey, yeah.

• 49:18Speaker 06

Uh, she's been to Grand Rapids for me and Asheville, North Carolina, and you talk about somebody's got a good sense of humor.

• 49:24Andrew Santino?

  She's the best, yeah.

• 49:26Speaker 06

Okay, and I had seen, I had done a little bit, I'd just thrown it out there, wasn't he, just, I just happened to watch quarterbacks.

• 49:32Andrew Santino?

  Mm-hmm, on Netflix.

• 49:33Speaker 06

On Netflix, and fell in love with Patrick Mahomes. And worried sick about that baby because he's got so much on him.

• 49:40Andrew Santino?

  He does.

• 49:40Speaker 06

And everybody around him, he has tend to everybody and he's always playing with a sprain or something.

• 49:46Andrew Santino?

  Mm-hmm.

• 49:46Speaker 06

And, um, I just threw it out there that Tay- Taylor had started dating that big old Travis. And I said, she, uh, she, her uterus is aching, and she, of course she wants to breed with that big old boy.

• 50:00Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 50:00Speaker 06

And have a bunch of kids with him.

• 50:02Andrew Santino?

  You do, yeah.

• 50:03Speaker 06

Well, somebody put that, I mean, my social media people just put it out when they got engaged, and Donna shared it, that doll. And then some, I don't know her social media people's, because Taylor Swift's fans start saying, she's not a breeder, you know, all that. And I got mad, and, uh, and Donna was so sweet, I called her, I went, sorry, I caused a big ruckus on your social media. And she goes, Lynn, I don't care, and she said Taylor thought it was funny, and Travis thought it was funny. Well, of course she wants to have children with that big old boy.

• 50:37Speaker 06

That big old football boy, talented, fun, he's fun.

• 50:41Andrew Santino?

  Handsome, handsome boy.

• 50:41Speaker 06

  Handsome.

• 50:42Andrew Santino?

  Handsome boy.

• 50:43Speaker 06

  She's a doll, she's pretty, she's talented.

• 50:46Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 50:47Speaker 06

I said to Donna, I know you want to have those grandchildren, our ball-playing, musical little children.

• 50:52Andrew Santino?

Right. Well, because Jason has kids, he's got kids, so she's got...

• 50:55Speaker 06

He's got all those pretty little girls.

• 50:57Andrew Santino?

  That's right.

• 50:57Speaker 06

  His wife's a doll.

• 50:58Andrew Santino?

Yes, they're good, they're really good people, they, they, the whole family is really solid, I'm sure they're gonna have kids, I mean, if they want to, they probably will, but yes, they do want to make a talented little, that's good stock. She's tall, he's big, strong, you know, they got all the...

• 51:12Speaker 06

  Those athletes.

• 51:13Andrew Santino?

They got athletes brewing in there somewhere, it's gonna happen.

• 51:15Speaker 06

  You're an athlete.

• 51:16Andrew Santino?

I was when I was a young man, you know, I, I'm not, I'm not, not really, golf is the only athletic sport I do now. I gave up a lot of stuff because I would get injured and I got over it, but when I was young, I was.

• 51:25Speaker 06

  What'd you play?

• 51:26Andrew Santino?

Basketball is my love, I loved basketball so much, and then I got suckered into playing volleyball because the volleyball coach... Had seen me, he could, I could jump when I was young and he said, "You should come play volleyball." And I said, "I'm really not interested in volleyball, to be honest with you." He said, "Why, what about it?" I said, "I don't really, the guys on the team aren't really like my kinda guys," so to speak. They weren't my guys. He said, "Just come try it." And then I did try it and I fell in love with it. I thought it was incredible.

• 51:51Speaker 06

  It is fun.

• 51:51Andrew Santino?

Yeah, it was so much fun.

• 51:52Speaker 06

And all these children play it out here, don't they, in California?

• 51:55Andrew Santino?

This is big beach volleyball. This is, out here, out here is either kids are beach volleyball, well, they teach basketball and football out here. They're recruiting and all that stuff is, California in general. We put it all out, out here. You should see these kids down at like Harvard-Westlake. They look like they're 35 and they're 16 years old. I mean, they're, they start training these kids to be pro athletes when they're six. So they got, they're, they're on meal regimens, they're on workout plans. I mean, we went, we-

• 52:21Speaker 06

They're gonna end up on dope in a basement if they don't watch it.

• 52:24Andrew Santino?

That's right, I know. I know, they'll be under the bridge.

• 52:27Speaker 06

Cause my boy played, um, what is that called? Pop Warner in Texas.

• 52:32Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, Pop Warner, right.

• 52:32Speaker 06

120 degrees, nine years old, everybody vomiting, cause it was, and the, and the quarterback's dad pushed that little thing and that little quarterback, you could tell he had it. You could tell that thing had-

• 52:45Andrew Santino?

  You can see.

• 52:45Speaker 06

He had that talent, but they worked that little thing like a mule. And I've always wondered, what happened to that baby? Is he smoking dope in a basement? Cause he didn't get to have a childhood.

• 52:56Andrew Santino?

Yeah, well, they, that's what happened. I mean, you look at, some of the best athletes had some of the most crazy parents push them and, I mean, Tiger Woods is the best example.

• 53:04Speaker 06

  Oh.

• 53:04Andrew Santino?

His dad was a lunatic. I mean, he's, you know, he turned out to be pretty good. So, it's bad, but it's also pretty good.

• 53:10Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 53:10Andrew Santino?

  It also was pretty good.

• 53:12Speaker 06

  Uh huh.

• 53:12Andrew Santino?

It worked. But then, if you let, if you leave them to their own, uh, and they have that natural talent and you just help them along, then you could also get someone like a, like a Kelsey.

• 53:23Speaker 06

Uh huh, or little Patrick Mahomes.

• 53:25Andrew Santino?

Or little Patrick Mahomes. Not, not really little, he's a big, he's a big boy.

• 53:28Speaker 06

I know, I call everybody little, I don't even know why.

• 53:29Andrew Santino?

You've met them, they're, they're much larger than you. They're massive human beings.

• 53:33Speaker 06

I have not met those boys.

• 53:35Andrew Santino?

  Okay, okay.

• 53:35Speaker 06

But I, but I just got to meet, you know, Peyton Manning and I didn't realize how tall he was.

• 53:40Andrew Santino?

  He's a big boy.

• 53:41Speaker 06

  He's a big and funny.

• 53:43Andrew Santino?

Yeah, he's very, very smart, very quick. He produced, his, Omaha produced my last special that I did on Hulu. Uh, Omaha produced it and I had run into him at, um-

• 53:54Andrew Santino?

It was Receivers, not Quarterbacks, it was Receivers, the second, the other show that they do. Oh, I've gotta watch that. Yeah, great, yeah, they did, I think that was like the second iteration of the quarterback series, they did Receivers now, and so nice, such a nice dude, and I made the Tennessee connection with them, I said, you know, I met you, I met you when I was a kid, my dad had friends that were friends with at the time, this man Dan Brooks, who was offensive line coach or defensive line coach, I can't remember, and we got to go in the locker room, so I told Peyton, I said, I met you and I met Peyton, because he was naked, so I got to see Peyton and his Manning, I said, I met Peyton and his Manning, they were butt naked in the locker room, and I was a young boy, I'm like, oh my god, these

• 54:38Andrew Santino?

are grown men, I gotta go, and they're all naked doing interviews, and Peyton gave me, I had a wristband with play calls on it, so I still have that at my house. Oh my gosh, that's nasty. It was a big deal, yeah, so Peyton was a big god in our house because of Tennessee, and we liked him so much, you know, we're from Chicago, but we even started to love, like, when he went to Indianapolis, we rooted for him there, like, we liked Indianapolis a little bit, it was kinda weird, and then they played us in the Super Bowl, and then you know what happened there.

• 55:53Speaker 06

But I do love, I go when I can and yeah, I think that, yeah, I like seeing all that.

• 55:58Andrew Santino?

They're giving you a new stadium, so that'll be nice.

• 55:59Speaker 06

  Yeah, that'll be wonderful.

• 56:00Andrew Santino?

That'll be good. And are they building it right? It's the same area, right?

• 56:03Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 56:04Andrew Santino?

Isn't that where it is, I think, right?

• 56:05Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 56:05Andrew Santino?

It's nice to walk across that bridge, but they do need a new stadium. You gotta give them a, let's say, it looks like a...

• 56:10Speaker 06

But Donna's inviting me and I don't, I just hadn't had time to go. I wanna go and see all them.

• 56:14Andrew Santino?

You've never seen, you gotta see the Chiefs.

• 56:16Speaker 06

  I know.

• 56:16Andrew Santino?

It's a fun game. They put on a great show.

• 56:17Speaker 06

  I kinda like the Chiefs.

• 56:19Andrew Santino?

Yeah, that's okay to like them. I get a lot of hate online for people going, "Oh, I thought you were a Bears fan." It's like, well, I'm gonna support a guy that I know, who's one of the greatest of all time at his position. Sorry. Sorry, I have a buddy that's a Hall of Famer. I'm sorry. Okay, I guess, throw arrows at me. I am still a Bears fan. I'm a Chicago fan diehard, but they invite me out and I'm, I love going to watch them sometimes. They're so much fun to go see. They put on such a good show and there's someone, it's just, it's fun to watch their fans because they have such love and the Bears fans were such broken people because my entire life was unbelievable letdown. Like a constant letdown. I've been let down my whole life. What did you want from me?

• 57:00Andrew Santino?

What did you think I was gonna do? So, I'm a fan, but also, it's hard. So, it's fun to go see other teams. You can root for them a little bit. No one's gonna get mad at you. Also, you live in Knoxville. There is no, there's no pro team there.

• 57:11Speaker 06

  I know.

• 57:12Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, but UT.

• 57:13Speaker 06

  UT.

• 57:14Andrew Santino?

  UT is your team.

• 57:14Speaker 06

Little Johnny Knoxville was out on that field the other night.

• 57:18Andrew Santino?

Seriously? Do what, like hyping up the crowd or something?

• 57:21Speaker 06

He was. And I said, "Hey Johnny, I'm Leanne. I know you don't know me. I have a Netflix show." And he went, "I hope we win."

• 57:30Andrew Santino?

  That's all he said?

• 57:31Speaker 06

And that was it. Yeah, I don't think it registered with him. I don't think, when some people see, you know, a grandmother, I don't think they think, if they don't know me, "Oh, she's on Netflix. She's a stand-up."

• 57:42Andrew Santino?

You know no one looks at you and thinks grandmother. You know that, right?

• 57:45Speaker 06

  Do, uh-huh, well...

• 57:46Andrew Santino?

You think that, McCombe, when you see this woman?

• 57:48Speaker 06

  You did, my darling.

• 57:49Andrew Santino?

  No.

• 57:50Speaker 07

  Not at all.

• 57:52Speaker 06

I wish you could have seen me in the eighties.

• 57:57Andrew Santino?

Well, you know what's so funny is you say that, you say your age because it's on your mind. But my grandmother had said one time how she actually feels. What age do you feel is different than what you are? Where do you think you stopped?

• 58:07Speaker 06

  I feel pretty good.

• 58:08Andrew Santino?

What number do you think you stopped at in your mind?

• 58:12Speaker 06

Sometimes I feel like I'm nineteen. And then other times I think forty, thirty-five.

• 58:18Andrew Santino?

Depending on the day. I think thirty, my number stuck at thirty in my mind. Thirty, I felt like this was it.

• 58:24Speaker 07

We have another number guessing game. This is a throwback to something we talked about at the beginning of the show. Guess how many people fall into the San Antonio River Walk?

• 58:31Andrew Santino?

Oh, he's got it. He pulled it up. How many people fall?

• 58:33Speaker 07

I've had it up for a while. This is not a good transition.

• 58:34Speaker 06

  How many over time, baby?

• 58:36Speaker 07

  Once a year on average.

• 58:37Speaker 06

  Once a year.

• 58:38Speaker 07

  Just closest to.

• 58:38Andrew Santino?

How many people fall into the San Antonio River on average?

• 58:41Speaker 07

We're not doing Price is Right. You can go over.

• 58:44Speaker 06

  A hundred?

• 58:44Andrew Santino?

No, I'm gonna, I'm gonna say thirty a year.

• 58:47Speaker 07

  Thirty to fifty.

• 58:49Andrew Santino?

  Thirty to fifty.

• 58:49Speaker 06

  Oh, okay.

• 58:50Andrew Santino?

I know my fall into a river stats. I mean, you can't, you can't get much by me. I, I've had enough drinking nights where I see it. And I think good math would probably mean, you know, maybe two a month people are falling in there. It's that, it's danger. And by the way, they're, they won't show this stat, but I bet you they're out of towners. This isn't locals.

• 59:06Speaker 07

  It's always out of town.

• 59:07Andrew Santino?

This is always out of town fools. They're having too much fun. You know? But you, you don't.

• 59:13Speaker 06

  Have a margarita.

• 59:14Andrew Santino?

Have a couple of margaritas. Well, is that your drink of choice?

• 59:17Speaker 06

I do like a margarita and a chip. A chip and a dip.

• 59:22Andrew Santino?

  I gotta be honest.

• 59:22Speaker 06

  Okay, so.

• 59:23Andrew Santino?

There's a, there's a Mexican restaurant that we've been to many a times as a family that's not too far from here that I, I could direct you to when the show's over. I'll tell you where it is and they have a great margarita and the best chips. Sometimes that's the meal. Chips dip in a margarita. You don't really need all the other stuff.

• 59:37Speaker 06

  You don't.

• 59:37Andrew Santino?

No, you get full on chips.

• 59:39Speaker 06

You get enchilada, but you can't eat it because you've had all those chips.

• 59:43Andrew Santino?

I don't really need it. Every time I get a meal there, I'm always like, why did we order? We could have just had a couple of margaritas and a, and a basket of chips.

• 59:48Speaker 06

I know, and I like a margarita with salt. I do, and I know LA people probably don't want to retain fluid.

• 59:55Andrew Santino?

Yes, that, no, well, that's, that's also a southern thing, like my, my dad eats, my dad's, I say my dad's diet is similar to like a horse, how a horse would snack. Where it's like, it's like, I'm like, what did you have for breakfast? He's like, I had popcorn, beef jerky, I had pork rinds, and a little bit of driftwood, whatever, whatever. He eats the most absurdist meals, but he still has a lot of that southern boy stuff. Like, he likes everything, anything pickled. We have jars of everything pickled all over the house. Oh my god, everything pickled. You know, from like, pickled onions. He likes oysters in a can, which we do make fun of him very often. That's, that's a him thing. I don't, that's not a southern thing.

• 1:00:35Speaker 06

Yeah, I, I don't, you, I've seen those, but I've never had those.

• 1:00:38Andrew Santino?

He loves it. Pork rinds is a staple in our home. We have a big bucket of pork rinds at all time. And all, and then I was introduced to country ham from him, which I had never had before, which is salt heaven. That's, if you like salt.

• 1:00:49Speaker 06

  Retaining fluids.

• 1:00:50Andrew Santino?

I mean, it's unbelievable. It's like dried, salted, dried, salted, cured.

• 1:00:54Speaker 06

Good on a biscuit. That's what my people have on holidays. They're like, we've got to get our country ham.

• 1:01:00Andrew Santino?

You do. It is, look, it is delicious. I do feel a little sick after I eat it, but it's like eating junk food. That's how it feels to me. What's, what's your, what is your Thanksgiving looking like? It's coming up. Are you a big?

• 1:01:11Speaker 06

  I love Thanksgiving.

• 1:01:12Andrew Santino?

  You do a big to-do?

• 1:01:12Speaker 06

I do. I'm not a Halloween person. I do it because these grandbabies now. But I, my kids growing up, I'd throw something together and we just didn't emphasize it. I didn't care for it as a child. I'm not against it. I just, it's not my thing. And then that, when you have grandbabies and they're a dinosaur and stuff, I mean, that, you know, and I get them little bags and I'm tickled and want to put pumpkins in the trees and all that. But I do love Thanksgiving, and I do like, I like a big meal and everybody to come to my house. So I'm having it from, at my house and everybody will come from all over. And then, and like my kids' friends, it may not have anywhere to go, they'll come. And then I do love Christmas, but I, I love Thanksgiving and Easter.

• 1:01:57Andrew Santino?

You like Thanksgiving more than Christmas? This is common, by the way. They do say people like to get, Thanksgiving has more weight now than Christmas for some reason.

• 1:02:04Speaker 06

Christmas is a lot of work on a mama.

• 1:02:06Andrew Santino?

  Sure, sure.

• 1:02:08Speaker 06

It falls on the mama. But, but I love Christmas, but I like Thanksgiving better. And what I, I was shocked in LA when I came out here, because I came out here in October of last year to start filming. And I did not realize how people love Halloween and demons out here.

• 1:02:26Andrew Santino?

  We do.

• 1:02:26Speaker 06

It's a demon in a yard everywhere you go. I not, I didn't know there was gonna be big skeletons and ghosts and spiders and webs and...

• 1:02:36Andrew Santino?

It's very reflective of the city itself. We're filled with demons.

• 1:02:39Speaker 06

  Demons.

• 1:02:40Andrew Santino?

This is all, this is hellish. This is hell. This is hell on earth. It's live.

• 1:02:44Speaker 07

  City of angels.

• 1:02:45Andrew Santino?

It's the city of angels. We are the city of angels. Los Angeles, we're the city of angels.

• 1:02:48Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 1:02:48Andrew Santino?

But angels also have demons, so we have both. I know, we do, you know, this was the first year I didn't decorate. And hand out candy. Usually we dress up and hand out candy to the kids in the neighborhood and I was sad because I was on, I did, I did a, I did a gig. I was gigging, so. It was the first year in a long time I haven't done it. I was actually really disappointed. I love Halloween.

• 1:03:06Speaker 06

  You do?

• 1:03:07Andrew Santino?

Well, I'm orange and it does, it's fitting. It is fitting. I am a walking jack-o'-lantern. So I just feel like it's my, I like it because I love to see the kids dressed up. That's fun to me. I just think it's fun.

• 1:03:17Speaker 06

And that is yummy to see little children.

• 1:03:19Andrew Santino?

Well, also because you see some of these costumes, they put a lot of effort into it and I really, the ones that don't put a lot of effort in, I don't really want to give candy to. I say, go all out. This is, what is it, also here, I grew up in Chicago and in Chicago, Halloween, every year was rain, wind, freezing cold. Terrible. Like it was, sometimes we had snow, so it was miserable. So you'd get in a costume and then you had jackets, you had your puff jacket over it.

• 1:03:42Speaker 06

And put your coat over your costume.

• 1:03:44Andrew Santino?

For a couple of minutes and then someone would see you and a mom would be like, "Put your jacket on now! You're gonna get sick!" So I hated it and I, I hated having to like cover up and I loved the holiday so much, so house party, Halloween house parties became my favorite. So we would have people over, have cocktails, get dressed up. I do love that. I don't know why I like that so much. But this year, my first year missing it and I'm sorry to the kids. I was actually, I was very upset because I do love seeing them. The funniest thing is when a kid has a costume on so big he keeps falling in it. I really love to see. That's funny to me. Getting up the driveway, keeps tripping. There's just too much going on. That's funny to me. I just, I get laughed out of watching them enjoy the night, you know? And go jump around. But Thanksgiving...

• 1:04:27Andrew Santino?

For me has changed because my grandmother used to host it and we have a huge Irish Catholic family and now that she's gone, my aunt hosts it, but everyone is, you know, the kids have kids have kids have kids now. So it's the tree is spreading so big. So Thanksgiving is harder for us now.

• 1:04:43Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 1:04:44Andrew Santino?

Yeah, it's gotten tougher and tougher. That's why we were coming to your house. I didn't.

• 1:04:47Speaker 06

Oh, I would love for you to come to my house.

• 1:04:49Andrew Santino?

I think we are. I think we're gonna come to your house. Yeah. I think we have to.

• 1:04:52Speaker 06

I would love for you to come to my house and then we can go to Dollywood if you want to. Have you ever been to Dollywood?

• 1:04:56Andrew Santino?

Have we ever? We went to Dollywood.

• 1:04:59Speaker 06

  Y'all have?

• 1:05:00Andrew Santino?

We went, that was same 2023, right? Wasn't that the 23?

• 1:05:02Speaker 07

Yeah. It was right after the Ryman?

• 1:05:05Andrew Santino?

Yeah, we went Ryman, then we went out there to Pigeon Forge. Yeah, we did.

• 1:05:08Speaker 06

Why did you have a gig in Knoxville? Did you play a theater?

• 1:05:11Andrew Santino?

No, why did we end up going through?

• 1:05:13Speaker 07

  It was on our route.

• 1:05:14Andrew Santino?

It was on our route. Wherever we were routed to, we were routed.

• 1:05:17Speaker 06

  Nashville, maybe?

• 1:05:17Andrew Santino?

No, we continued on to, we were leaving Tennessee.

• 1:05:20Speaker 07

  We went Louisville, Nashville.

• 1:05:22Andrew Santino?

Where did we go? Down south? South Carolina somewhere? We were routing in a way that we got to stop. Well, we made it a point we wanted to do it. So it might've been a little out of the way, but we had told our tour manager, because we were on the bus, we all want to go to Dollywood. Well, I think it was like a, we can lose a little bit of a day doing it. And I said, who cares? It's that or go sit in a hotel somewhere else.

• 1:05:40Speaker 06

  It's a pretty park, isn't it?

• 1:05:41Andrew Santino?

It was beautiful. I enjoyed it on my own because I had, we had a little fight. The crew got into a little bit of an argument and then I enjoyed it on my own. And then I went and got drunk at Margaritaville and bought a bunch of people drinks and dinner. A newlywed couple, I was, I was a little sauced and I was like, whatever they want, put it on my bill.

• 1:05:58Speaker 06

A lot of people get married there.

• 1:06:00Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, at Dolly?

• 1:06:01Speaker 06

In Gatlinburg and all up in the Smoky Mountains.

• 1:06:04Andrew Santino?

  Right, right.

• 1:06:04Speaker 06

There's chapels, kind of like Las Vegas, without so much sin. You know?

• 1:06:10Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 1:06:10Speaker 06

  It's less sin.

• 1:06:11Andrew Santino?

Less sin, little less sin. But that strip of all those restaurants and bars, we thought there's a lot of tourists and so many bodies. We were shocked. We tried to get an Uber because we didn't have a car and the bus couldn't take us. So we said, let's all get in an Uber. And it was one guy and his girlfriend or partner, wife, whatever. He picked us up and it was the same guy that dropped us off and picked us up. I said, there's no Ubers in Pigeon Forge.

• 1:06:33Speaker 07

Well, and then he left earlier and didn't tell us where he was going. He just left. Angry.

• 1:06:37Andrew Santino?

I left angry at these guys.

• 1:06:39Speaker 07

Didn't pick up any of our phone calls.

• 1:06:40Andrew Santino?

  That's right.

• 1:06:41Speaker 07

And then the same Uber driver picks us up and they're like, oh, we got your buddy. And then one of the people went, I mean, one of our friends went, oh, well, he was our buddy.

• 1:06:48Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, he used to be.

• 1:06:50Speaker 07

He was asking about where the nearest airport was.

• 1:06:52Andrew Santino?

I kept saying, where's the nearest airport to the Uber driver said, I'm gonna get out of here tonight. I was gonna fly back to Chicago, just to teach them a lesson.

• 1:06:58Speaker 07

And then we were all like, oh, he left.

• 1:06:59Andrew Santino?

They thought I left, yeah, and I didn't tell anybody. I went to Margaritaville and had myself a night. I had a great, I had a phenomenal time. Margaritaville, that staff got more money than I've ever given anybody in my life. I was just flooding them. I was like, whatever. Every drink, I tipped them 20 bucks per drink. So he was like, get this guy drinking. I'm sure I was way past the cutoff time, but at some point, they were loving it. And also, I walked. It's safe. I was walking back to the bus.

• 1:07:23Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 1:07:23Speaker 07

It was in between Memphis and Durham.

• 1:07:25Andrew Santino?

Memphis and Durham, that's exactly right.

• 1:07:26Speaker 07

So we had a few, we had three days, three, four days off.

• 1:07:28Andrew Santino?

We had a couple of days off, so we thought, go to Dolly World and enjoy the night, you know?

• 1:07:32Speaker 06

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:07:33Andrew Santino?

But this time, I'm gonna come to your house. I'm bringing friends, I'm bringing a bunch of friends and family. We'll bring these guys, Bobby Lee will come.

• 1:07:40Speaker 06

  Oh.

• 1:07:40Andrew Santino?

Can we crash at your house? So you got enough room?

• 1:07:42Speaker 06

  Yes, yeah.

• 1:07:42Andrew Santino?

You got plenty of room for us? Okay.

• 1:07:44Speaker 06

  I do.

• 1:07:44Andrew Santino?

  You say that now.

John Crist just spent the night with me.

• 1:07:47Andrew Santino?

  I love that kid.

• 1:07:48Speaker 06

I know. Is he not a doll?

• 1:07:50Andrew Santino?

You know, let me call him real fast. Hold on, just because you're here. Let me, let's just FaceTime him real fast.

• 1:07:54Speaker 06

He and I have talked about you.

• 1:07:56Andrew Santino?

  Oh, you have?

• 1:07:57Speaker 06

And he has said wonderful things about you.

• 1:07:59Andrew Santino?

Well, I met him at the very beginning. Like, I met him when he was starting out. Out, did he tell you the story?

• 1:08:06Speaker 06

  No, I don't think so.

• 1:08:08Andrew Santino?

Okay, we'll share, I'm gonna share the story with you about this guy. For people that, comic John Crist, a great guy that I've known.

• 1:08:15Andrew Santino?

15 years, there he is. Look who I'm with.

• 1:08:22Andrew Santino?

We're talking bad, we're talking bad about, oh, and look, he's with Dorf. He's there right now.

• 1:08:26Speaker 06

  Oh, my gosh!

• 1:08:27Andrew Santino?

  Must be at Zany's.

• 1:08:29Speaker 06

  Hello, my boys, friends.

• 1:08:31Andrew Santino?

We're talking bad about you on my podcast. You'll have to listen in. All right, I love you. We'll talk to you later. Bye bud.

• 1:08:41Andrew Santino?

He was with Dorfen, who we just talked about. How great is that? I know. So when I met him, we were doing a show. We had, I was, I was helping to produce a show. A hidden camera show for the same studio that did Punk'd, because Punk'd was one of my first gigs. And they hired me to like, help produce it and write these bits. And he was one of the actors that we hired. And, um, there was a bit. And it was like a... I don't even remember the bit, but it was involving a nun. Whatever it was, it had like a nun in it. And he came to me, and we had just met. And we got on pretty fast, and he said, um, "I don't think I want to do this bit with the nun thing, because I'm religious and I, I think it's, I don't know. I don't really want to be a part of it." And the nun was an actress. It wasn't, obviously wasn't a real... And I said, "Really, you don't want to do it?" And I said, "Yeah." He said, "I, I really don't feel comfortable doing it."

• 1:09:27Andrew Santino?

He goes, "But I'm, I don't want to like, get fired." "I don't want to like, lose the job," you know? And he was very nervous about it. And I said, "No, you have to stand your ground. Like, if you don't want to do the bit, don't do the bit." You know? I mean, it was any, it was nothing egregious. It wasn't discuss- But I think he just didn't feel comfortable because of his religious beliefs. And I, I said, "You tell the producers that. They'll respect it, and if they don't, screw them." You know? And they did, obviously. No, he never got, he didn't get fired or anything, but he was very thankful in the years after that, that I, you know, promoted that. Because I said, "You gotta stick to what you, whatever you believe in, man." I, I said, "I, if you're gonna do it, tell them how you really feel." "Why, you know, that's who you really are. That's your, your instinct was right, so, don't do it." And we've been, you know, we've been boys for, ever since. And also, I said to him one time,

• 1:10:12Andrew Santino?

he came out here, and he was trying to get in the Comedy Store scene, and back when it was, I mean, humming, where everyone was moving out to, or coming out to LA for stints at a time to try to get into the Comedy Store. And, uh, he wasn't enjoying it. And he was like, "I just don't know if this is my cul- culture." Like, this is my, "I just don't feel like I'm fitting in." And I said, "Well, why are you deviating from what you're good at?" I mean, just do what you're good at. If this is not your audience, if you feel like it's not the people you speak to typically, um, why would you change that? You know? And then he would play, he would play churches, and he'd play religious events, and I said, "What's the matter with those?" And he, I said, "You're making a living." He said, "But I, but I, this is what I really want." And I said, "I think you're, I think it's right in front of you, and you're missing it. It's right under your nose."

• 1:10:57Andrew Santino?

"Stick to the thing you're good at, that you love, and that is, is returning and giving you back, and..." Then sure enough, you know- I'm not saying I'm the one, but it helped him convince himself that he's stuck in that path and look what the lane led for him, you know? A ton of success. And so he has, years after that, you know, said, "Thanks for doing this." I said, "Yeah, man, you got..." Sometimes you just gotta some, go, "Hey, I don't know what you're doing looking over there. It's right, it's right there." So just get out of your own way and stick to the thing, you know? Go to your audience instead of trying to, you know, trying to make these new people get on your page. Just keep doing what you do, which is what you've done your whole career. Do what you do and they come, they find you. They find you. They found you.

• 1:11:40Speaker 06

Yeah, and they found me. Honey, I didn't know, for years I thought, "How do I find them?" I didn't know what to do.

• 1:11:45Andrew Santino?

No. They, they'll find you. You're good enough that they found you.

• 1:11:49Speaker 06

  Well, thank you, my angel.

• 1:11:51Andrew Santino?

Yeah, yeah, and I mean, and for those at home, uh, who have not enjoyed this special, please, uh, tune in on Netflix. The link is in the description below, but it's not hard to find. It's on Netflix. You open that thing up and you type in "beautiful female comedian." And it's, uh, and it's you. Who else is on that tab? Beautiful female comedian is her, I think, Patton Oswalt and, uh, no. No, but you're, you, uh, you, you have a career worth watching and I, I hope to see it continue. I thank you for coming to do my little show.

• 1:12:22Speaker 06

Oh, my Andrew, this means the world to me, you dog.

• 1:12:26Andrew Santino?

Well, I hope so because I am going to crash at your house for Thanksgiving.

• 1:12:28Speaker 06

Uh, you better. I mean it, I'm on fire.

• 1:12:31Andrew Santino?

And my, you know, I'm gonna be close. I'm gonna be in Chicago for Thanksgiving, so that's, that's a kiss away from Tennessee.

• 1:12:36Speaker 06

Yeah, just hop on down there, honey. I'll put in a brisket.

• 1:12:38Andrew Santino?

Will you send a private jet for me? You, you can, right? You can do that.

• 1:12:41Speaker 06

I have not done that yet. Have you been riding those things?

• 1:12:44Andrew Santino?

No, I'm not, no, I'm not.

• 1:12:46Speaker 06

  Cause Nate's riding those things.

• 1:12:47Andrew Santino?

  Yes.

• 1:12:48Speaker 06

When are you gonna start? I go, "I have a husband named Chuck Morgan who keeps me down."

• 1:12:53Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:54Speaker 06

When you say bus, see, I've only ridden Nate's bus with him when we co-headline something.

• 1:12:58Andrew Santino?

Well, that Nate owns that bus. We have a rented bus. This was very different. Ours was a, uh, I can't believe it made it. I thought one of the wheels was gonna fall off.

• 1:13:06Speaker 07

  We'd get locked out constantly.

• 1:13:07Andrew Santino?

We'd get locked out of the bus all the time. We had a, we had, we had a discount bus.

• 1:13:11Speaker 07

  Bobby got locked in it.

• 1:13:12Andrew Santino?

Bobby got locked inside the bus, then set the alarm. Yeah, it was really, no, yeah, uh, no, we're not private jetting anywhere to do gigs.

• 1:13:19Speaker 06

Well, I'm going commercial and then I get in a rental car in a Mitsubishi and drive in between gigs.

• 1:13:25Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:13:26Speaker 06

  I'm doing it that way.

• 1:13:27Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:13:27Speaker 06

But I don't take anybody with me. I mean, it's just my, my youngest child, who's my makeup artist, and then whoever's opening for me just meets me there. And then I have an outback person.

• 1:13:36Andrew Santino?

They don't travel with you. But is it the same opener?

• 1:13:38Speaker 06

But do I need an entourage?

• 1:13:42Andrew Santino?

You do. I think you do, yeah. Someone as special as you should have one. And do you use the same opener all the time, or no, you switch it up?

• 1:13:48Speaker 06

I switch it up. I've had Greg Warren lately.

• 1:13:50Andrew Santino?

  Oh, great.

• 1:13:51Speaker 06

  So funny.

• 1:13:52Andrew Santino?

  Great, yeah.

• 1:13:52Speaker 06

Um, yeah, and Karen Mills is a good friend of mine. We've gone on and off together touring since 2004.

• 1:14:00Andrew Santino?

  Wow.

• 1:14:01Speaker 06

  And other people.

• 1:14:02Andrew Santino?

Yeah. You need someone to juice them up a little bit at the beginning. Set the vibe. And then, then you do the, you know, do what you usually do. Well, I'm thinking about coming to Crash at Your House for Thanksgiving. I mean, we're gonna have to put in the request and see if it works. Um, and I'm gonna hold you to it and we'll see what Chuck Morgan says about the whole thing.

• 1:14:19Speaker 06

He'll be so tickled, honey, and y'all can play golf.

• 1:14:21Andrew Santino?

That I would love. That I would love. All right. Thank you for doing the show.

• 1:14:25Speaker 06

  Thank you!

• 1:14:26Andrew Santino?

I love you. Do me one favor. Look in that camera. We end the show the same way, with one word or one phrase to end the episode. It used to be a word, and then people were like, I don't, I don't know, but if you wanna part words of wisdom, a phrase, something you've learned, something you wanna leave the audience with. Whenever you're ready, look into that camera and give them just a LeAnn Morgan sign-off of, of whatever scale you'd like.

• 1:14:47Speaker 06

Okay. Don't ever give up on your dreams. Look at me, sitting up here, grandmama. And then, I think Andrew would have dated me. I think we would have dated.

• 1:14:59Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, we would have dated.

• 1:15:00Speaker 06

I would have flirted with you.

• 1:15:02Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, we would have dated.

• 1:15:02Speaker 06

Did you get that from me?

• 1:15:03Andrew Santino?

Yeah. Yeah, I do. Very much. Yeah, we would have dated.

• 1:15:06Speaker 06

We would have dated. At Arizona State.

• 1:15:09Andrew Santino?

Oh, God, yeah. Or at Tennessee, if I went to Tennessee, yeah.

• 1:15:12Speaker 06

  We would have dated.

• 1:15:13Andrew Santino?

Yeah, we would have. We would have been in love. We would have been in love and I would have to move to the south and we would have had, had a big, big family. Thirteen kids, fourteen maybe, depending.

• 1:15:21Speaker 06

  Yes.

• 1:15:22Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:15:23Speaker 06

And then we, but no, I'm thinking if we were in school together, we wouldn't have gotten anything done. We wouldn't have graduated, because you're so fun.

• 1:15:29Andrew Santino?

Yeah, but we would have had so much fun that life would have just happened the way it needed to happen.

• 1:15:33Speaker 06

  I guess so.

• 1:15:34Andrew Santino?

We would have owned that bed and breakfast we always been talking about, and that's, that would have been our future.

• 1:15:39Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 1:15:40Speaker 03

In here, we pour whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey. Who are that creature in the ginger beard? It's dirty and ginger. Like vampires, the ginger gene is a curse. Gingers are beautiful.

• 1:15:53Speaker 04

You owe me five dollars for the whiskey and seventy-five dollars for the horse. Gingers? Oh, hell no. The whiskey is excellent. Ginger. I like gingers.
