Now, more than ever, we need someone on our side. But Rob Whitman? Whitman's votes drove up costs, cut Medicaid, and risked 350,000 Virginians' healthcare to pay for tax breaks for himself and his donors. He's not on our side. Shannon Taylor will fight corruption, cut taxes, and bring down costs. This November, vote for Shannon Taylor. She's for us. Paid for by HMP, the House Majority PAC dot com. • 1:03Doug DeMuro?

Hello and welcome to this car pod!

• 1:07Speaker 03

  I'm Ken.

• 1:08Doug DeMuro?

I'm Filippo. And there's a lot to cover, starting with the biggest news story of the week: the GR GT, which has some sort of turbo hybrid...

• 1:16Speaker 03

  Yep, 4-liter twin turbocharged V8.

• 1:19Doug DeMuro?

It's a hot V. Do you know what that is?

• 1:21Speaker 03

Oh, I know what a hot V is.

• 1:22Doug DeMuro?

It means the turbocharger is like inside of the engine or something.

• 1:25Speaker 03

  It's not Filippo wearing a v-neck.

• 1:27Doug DeMuro?

  Right, no.

• 1:27Speaker 03

  It's a hot V.

• 1:29Doug DeMuro?

Uh, okay, 640 horsepower, obviously tip only, sadly. No one's talking price yet, including Lexus Toyota. They won't tell us what it costs.

• 1:37Speaker 04

They've said it would be over in the six figures. That's what they've hinted at.

• 1:40Speaker 03

I've seen speculation in the 200 range.

• 1:42Doug DeMuro?

We know that, but I was thinking that this car would compete in terms of a halo car against the AMG GT.

• 1:48Speaker 04

Because it looks like it has the same engine out as it.

• 1:51Doug DeMuro?

But from what I'm understanding, people are talking 300,000, which is a lot of money.

• 1:57Speaker 04

There's also the Lexus version, which is EV only, right?

• 2:01Doug DeMuro?

  Uh, is that true?

• 2:02Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 2:02Doug DeMuro?

Can we discuss the fact that this is not the most attractive of automobiles? I was astonished when this was revealed. Like, it looks purposeful, but I thought it would be a smoother design.

• 2:15Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 2:15Doug DeMuro?

Like, just sort of like a swoopy, smooth, like, the LC is really cool. The Supra has, like, a very smooth design language.

• 2:21Speaker 03

I know, but think about it, really. I mean, like, the LFA, the last, like, supercar they did, not exactly what you call smooth.

• 2:27Doug DeMuro?

  But it-

• 2:28Speaker 03

And these days, angular and aggressive is, like, the thing that people, every manufacturer does.

• 2:33Doug DeMuro?

Just, it just, it's just not, I was, I was just thinking it was gonna be like a, like a teardroppy, smooth kind of situation.

• 2:39Speaker 03

You're hoping for, like, an RX7, an FD-looking car.

• 2:43Doug DeMuro?

But, like, that's what the Supra looks like. Like, if you see a Supra, that is, that car does not have a lot of ugly angles. And I'm surpris, I'm honestly surprised. Now, a lot of people insult a lot of new cars when they first see them.

• 2:53Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 2:54Doug DeMuro?

And that could be what's going on here, but I am a little bit surprised. I, I will say, I'm very impressed with the, the powertrain, the whole situation.

• 3:00Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 3:01Doug DeMuro?

  If we're gonna do a V8, that's awesome.

• 3:02Speaker 03

  Mm-hmm.

• 3:03Doug DeMuro?

So many people are getting away from that stuff.

• 3:04Speaker 03

I'm glad they're gonna do a GT3 version of it and take it racing as well. I think that's really important for their brand and it'll be cool.

• 3:10Speaker 04

And it's cool that the road-going version is not just a homologation car. It's like a standalone road car.

• 3:14Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 3:15Speaker 04

  Based on-

• 3:15Doug DeMuro?

It also is rear-wheel drive, and, and I think that that's important to mention, too. You know, it's funny, because Toyota doesn't get a lot of credit for being, like, the performance brand. But they got Supra, they got GR86, and here they come with a twin-turbo V8 with rear-wheel drive. How many people are still doing this?

• 3:31Speaker 03

I agree. Not only that, though, like, with the competition thing, they're also sponsoring a Haas for, in Formula One. Like, a lot of manufacturers are, so, like, they're taking performance very seriously now.

• 3:40Doug DeMuro?

We have, and to prove that, we have, right here in the office, the new RAV4 GR Sport. Which, folks, I gotta tell you, this car-

• 3:49Speaker 04

  It handles.

• 3:49Doug DeMuro?

It's got a wing. It's got, can you tell me, can you, can you, can you tell me, what do you think the GR upgrade, the non cosmetic GR upgrades are to this?

• 3:59Speaker 04

  The GR2 in suspension.

• 4:01Doug DeMuro?

GR2 suspension. Can you name any others?

• 4:02Speaker 04

  The, it's a more powerful.

• 4:05Doug DeMuro?

  No, same power.

• 4:05Speaker 04

Alright, well I got nothing then.

• 4:07Doug DeMuro?

There are no more. It is just the suspension. But GR is generally serious, with some exceptions such as this RAV4, which by the way, has a $53,000 sticker price.

• 4:16Speaker 04

It's, going back to the price of this, so it had, apparently it will have about 641 horsepower, 3,800 pounds.

• 4:23Doug DeMuro?

  Yep.

• 4:23Speaker 04

They, at the press launch, they asked, the project manager asked people to kind of like, think about other cars in that same like price point, power point. The AMG GT Pro is $200,000 and has 603 horsepower, weighs a little bit more. The Vantage S has 671 horsepower, weighs the same, it's 235 base price.

• 4:41Doug DeMuro?

  Right.

• 4:41Speaker 04

  It'll be in that category.

• 4:42Doug DeMuro?

  Do you think?

• 4:43Speaker 04

Which is high for Toyota, obviously.

• 4:44Doug DeMuro?

200,000, I think it could sell. GTRs were in that range at the end and they weren't selling, but it was also a 15-year-old car.

• 4:51Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 4:51Doug DeMuro?

And it's still a desirable car, as we'll talk about later in this podcast.

• 4:53Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 4:55Doug DeMuro?

But at 300, it become, I don't know, it'll be interesting.

• 4:58Speaker 04

The goal apparently for the LFA, or whatever they're calling the Lexus 1, which is EV, is 350 or under.

• 5:04Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, I'll be honest, if they're gonna do an EV Lexus 1, there will be no interest in it, it will not sell and no one will care about it. The only one that people will care about is, keep in mind, it's funny that they're even talking about that, considering that they just cancelled the hybrid version of the LC, because no one was buying it.

• 5:17Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 5:18Doug DeMuro?

In this segment, people want one thing, a big ol' engine and some big ol' power.

• 5:22Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 5:23Speaker 03

But I think the LFA concept is just that, a concept, so I suspect they could change it to a hybrid drivetrain or whatever.

• 5:30Speaker 04

Or maybe they want to kind of push electrification, they want to have a halo car for that, even before they have mainstream models.

• 5:36Speaker 03

  But the market doesn't.

• 5:36Speaker 04

  They might not care.

• 5:37Doug DeMuro?

Very interested in this, obviously, as a 4GT owner.

• 5:40Speaker 04

  Oh, nice.

• 5:41Doug DeMuro?

Well, don't you think that this is sort of the 4GT of Toyota's current lineup?

• 5:46Speaker 04

  Let me think about that.

• 5:46Doug DeMuro?

It's gonna race, it's positioned in the same place, why not? Same horsepower. It's a similar idea. It's a mainstream brand that sells Camrys, like Ford was selling Taurus's back in the day.

• 5:57Speaker 04

It's also gonna be built in Canada?

• 5:58Doug DeMuro?

You get my point. My car was built in the US.

• 6:00Speaker 04

  Yeah, but.

• 6:01Speaker 03

  But.

• 6:02Doug DeMuro?

  That's not the same.

• 6:02Speaker 03

Is Steve Saleen going to help build these cars?

• 6:05Doug DeMuro?

I do always think it's cool when a mainstream brand, because they don't have to do this.

• 6:09Speaker 03

  Right.

• 6:10Doug DeMuro?

They sell in Rev4 Woodlands by the truckload.

• 6:13Speaker 04

  That they are.

• 6:13Doug DeMuro?

They don't have to do this. This is cool. This will be cool. I'm excited to see it. And on that subject, the other big Toyota news this week is the MR2, which is apparently imminent.

• 6:22Speaker 04

Yeah, they've redone the patents or trademarks or whatever for the name MR2. It'll be a GR MR2, apparently.

• 6:29Doug DeMuro?

So there's, so in other words, and not a Toyota GR MR2, like the GR Corolla, etc. There is talk that it may possibly actually be sold under the GR brand as like a new brand, as like the first car for this new brand. I will say, the speculation is that this car will use a turbo force, 2.0 liter turbo force cylinder with 400 horsepower, mid-mounted. If that's true, and if it has three pedals.

• 6:54Speaker 04

  Which is possible.

• 6:56Doug DeMuro?

  Because they're not talking EV.

• 6:57Speaker 03

You start to wonder, why do you buy a Lotus?

• 6:59Doug DeMuro?

You start to wonder, why do you buy anything?

• 7:01Speaker 03

Yeah, that's very appealing if they do that.

• 7:03Doug DeMuro?

It also looks cool. It doesn't look that cool, but it looks pretty cool.

• 7:06Speaker 03

You know, I don't know, in reference to these other like AI-generated images, it looks pretty cool.

• 7:11Doug DeMuro?

This is, if this is real, 400 horse, mid-engine, let's talk manual, no one's saying it, but let's talk. They're doing the GR GT. Toyota is like in our hearts and minds. They got the whole line of TRD Pros, including the vaunted and famed Sequoia. Like.

• 7:26Doug DeMuro?

This is, this is real stuff. This is really cool. Don't you like this?

• 7:29Speaker 03

I do like this. I could do without the one square they didn't paint on the wheel. Uh, that just, other than that, uh, I think it is, I think it is really cool. It looks like a 4C in a lot of ways. I, I don't know.

• 7:39Doug DeMuro?

  And I just.

• 7:40Speaker 04

  But good.

• 7:41Speaker 03

But good. And a 296 in a little bit in there.

• 7:43Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, okay. There's tremendous, there's Lotus, there's a little Lotus in the front end.

• 7:48Speaker 03

  Little Cadillac.

• 7:49Doug DeMuro?

Looks cool. This thing is cool. If this came out truly with a 400 horse mid-engine and a manual.

• 7:55Speaker 03

  And a manual.

• 7:55Doug DeMuro?

And a manual, which I think Toyota has learned because their other two sports cars, the Supra and the GR86, both have manuals.

• 8:01Speaker 04

And the GR Corolla came out as manual only.

• 8:04Doug DeMuro?

  Manual only.

• 8:04Speaker 04

Although there is now an automatic.

• 8:05Doug DeMuro?

Now, the GR Sport RAV4, they are not doing a three-pedal version.

• 8:09Speaker 04

  Oh.

• 8:09Doug DeMuro?

They've decided they've, unless the market really demands it.

• 8:13Speaker 04

What would the market share for that? 0.00001.

• 8:16Doug DeMuro?

  No one would.

• 8:16Speaker 03

I don't know. Someone would buy it, then it'd be like the V6 Kynons on the site.

• 8:19Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 8:19Speaker 03

  Maybe. What, 70, 80 grand?

• 8:20Doug DeMuro?

  In 20, 30 years, it'll be an $85,000 car.

• 8:23Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 8:23Doug DeMuro?

Of course, developing a manual for nine people would probably be an $85,000 car new. Anyway, I'm super pumped for what's coming out of Toyota right now. In an era where a lot of automakers are giving up on any sort of fun cars, especially cars with gas power, ice engines, this thing is, these two cars are like, whoa, wait a minute, Toyota? And, and part of the reason they're able to do this is because they sell so many hybrids and all these things, they can actually give us cars like.

• 8:48Speaker 03

They were successful. They did their homework. They ate their vegetables and now they can have fun.

• 8:52Doug DeMuro?

That's, that's exactly what it is. They're like the person who saved all his money and put it in index funds and returned it 55. Meanwhile, Chrysler is out here running around with no idea, not paying the Canadian government.

• 9:01Speaker 04

No, not paying the Canadian government.

• 9:03Speaker 03

They're eating burgers, building vipers in the 90s and now they're screwed.

• 9:06Doug DeMuro?

  That's exactly right.

• 9:08Speaker 04

So true. They were screwed then too, though. It makes you feel better.

• 9:10Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, that's true. Chrysler's been a difficult story. If this thing comes out, though, I am, I'm excited about the GR GT. Obviously, it's going to be super cool, whatever, but that's going to be an unattainable, expensive.

• 9:20Speaker 04

  Right.

• 9:20Doug DeMuro?

  This is really cool.

• 9:21Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 9:22Doug DeMuro?

A mid-engine car, even if it's going to be 60, which I bet it will be.

• 9:25Speaker 04

I bet it will be, yep.

• 9:26Doug DeMuro?

That's pretty cool. Think about what's competing at 400 horsepower. You're talking about Boxster, you're talking about Lotus.

• 9:32Speaker 04

  Did you have a Prelude?

• 9:37Doug DeMuro?

  At that price point.

• 9:38Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 9:38Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 9:40Doug DeMuro?

Prelude with two options, you had 60. All right, what's our next news story?

• 9:43Speaker 03

Ah, yes. So, at the beginning of the, of the year, we talked about Lewis Hamilton going to Ferrari in this very famous picture of him now in front of the F40 and everybody was very excited. Well, we were also excited because Ferrari said they were potentially considering doing the idea of a supercar with him, the F44 was, you know, the kind of the idea was going to be kind of a, an homage to the F40, not the thing that came out earlier this year, it's going to be different. Well. Lewis hasn't had the best season in Formula One. It's actually the worst season of his career. And Ferrari, there's been, if you've listened to any interviews with him, he is not hot about the team, the brand, anything. It's all gone quite poorly. And as a result, Ferrari has reportedly shelved, cancelled or at least shelved the F44 project. So they're not thrilled either, it seems.

• 10:28Doug DeMuro?

How long is Hamilton gonna stick around at Ferrari?

• 10:30Speaker 03

I don't know. There was something that Sebastian Vettel, or it was Nico Rosberg said that he should not leave Ferrari yet. He should stick around for a little bit.

• 10:38Doug DeMuro?

Well, maybe there's car trouble. You know, at the start of this year, I predicted this would happen. And you said, "No way, it's Hamilton. He's gonna be great." And I said, "He's too old, he's not gonna succeed." You can wind down the tape. Someone, someone hit us with a comment.

• 10:49Speaker 03

You also does that I said, "This year's not relevant. It will be next year that matters." Which is what every Ferrari fan has said for the past 19 years now.

• 10:56Doug DeMuro?

Alright dude, let's go on next year then. He's only getting older.

• 10:59Speaker 03

Next year's a big year. The entire formula changes. The cars are completely different. DRS goes away. It's a very different car.

• 11:04Doug DeMuro?

But the most important thing, yeah, no more DRS dude. The most important thing.

• 11:07Speaker 03

That's a huge deal in Formula One.

• 11:08Doug DeMuro?

Cadillac is running and they will win. America, America. Dude, think about everything this country's given you. That sweater. You couldn't wear that in Italy and be taken seriously.

• 11:20Speaker 04

Yeah, it's true. Not south enough. The good news for Lewis is that he made $60 million this year and so he's okay.

• 11:26Doug DeMuro?

  Is that true?

• 11:27Speaker 03

Something like that. They pay him a lot of money.

• 11:29Doug DeMuro?

He paid $60 million to lose and not get in that 44.

• 11:32Speaker 03

No, he won the only thing Ferrari won all year, which was a sprint race, which doesn't count for anything.

• 11:39Speaker 03

There are some points, you know, but it was, I mean, man, Ferrari had another abysmal year and he seems depressed and it looked like it was totally some problem.

• 11:46Speaker 04

He's taking a picture in the rain. I mean.

• 11:47Speaker 03

No, that's a, well, the picture's badass. There's no question about that.

• 11:49Doug DeMuro?

  Northern Italy.

• 11:50Speaker 03

  Well, he's in the rain.

• 11:53Speaker 04

Yeah, but. Plus, they took away his house.

• 11:54Doug DeMuro?

  They took away his house.

• 11:55Speaker 03

Oh, that's right. That's right. Our producer insists that Ferrari gave Lewis Hamilton Enzo's house.

• 11:59Doug DeMuro?

They probably didn't take it away, but I bet you he ain't using it.

• 12:02Speaker 04

  Nope.

• 12:03Doug DeMuro?

I bet you he ain't calling anybody like, "Take him to stay in Enzo's house this week." I bet there's not a lot of that going.

• 12:08Speaker 03

Showed up in the rain after a race and they changed the locks.

• 12:10Doug DeMuro?

So what happens next year in the Formula One? When does it start?

• 12:14Speaker 03

So it starts, first race is the first weekend of March.

• 12:17Doug DeMuro?

March, it's coming around the corner.

• 12:18Speaker 03

The formula changes periodically, but this one is pretty big. The goal was they wanted to make the car, the racing, a lot tighter. So a lot of aerodynamic changes. Like I said, the drag reduction system, DRS goes away. So we say goodbye to that.

• 12:29Doug DeMuro?

In what country with a poor human rights record is the first race?

• 12:33Speaker 03

Hmm. I don't know. Something in the Middle East.

• 12:36Doug DeMuro?

Filippo's like, we gotta edit that. We gotta cut that.

• 12:39Speaker 04

Nope. No, I feel no such need.

• 12:41Speaker 03

We're not going back to Russia. Filippo can't say anything bad about Russians.

• 12:44Doug DeMuro?

Okay, so in March it starts, and that's when you believe this year, Lewis Hamilton, turning 50 this year, this will be his year.

• 12:50Speaker 03

He's not turning 50 this year.

• 12:51Doug DeMuro?

Okay, but how old is he? He is 40.

• 12:54Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 12:55Doug DeMuro?

He'll be turning 41 before the start of the season here. Dude, I gotta be honest with you. The best drivers, like that fellow who has all the Carrera GT in Monaco, what's his name? The one whose F40 got crashed by somebody?

• 13:04Speaker 03

Oh, Lando Norris, the current Formula One World Champ.

• 13:06Doug DeMuro?

Okay, he won. Congratulations. You know why he won? Because he's 12 years old. I'm not screwing with you. He's 12 years old.

• 13:11Speaker 03

He is approximately 12 years old, yeah.

• 13:14Doug DeMuro?

  26. That's the same thing. That's the same thing.

• 13:18Speaker 03

  We'll see. I would, I think.

• 13:20Doug DeMuro?

  Dude was born in 99.

• 13:22Speaker 03

I, I wanna see Lewis Hamilton win eight championships, and it would be great to see him win with Ferrari. But admittedly, even as a diehard Ferrari fan, I just don't know how many more years I can take them losing. This is 18 seasons consecutively. They have not won.

• 13:36Doug DeMuro?

Switch to the team that Lando Norris is on, because he seems to win a lot.

• 13:39Speaker 03

McLaren. Well, we'll see how they do.

• 13:41Doug DeMuro?

I'm gonna tell you this, and I'm serious about this. Nobody in the future of the entirety of Formula One who was alive while the.

• 14:17Doug DeMuro?

The Infiniti J30 was in production will ever win championship ever again. Mark my words, it'll never occur. Pull up a J30 if you will.

• 14:25Speaker 04

  No.

• 14:26Doug DeMuro?

Nobody in the history, I think we probably.

• 14:28Speaker 04

We have, we have auctioned at least one.

• 14:31Speaker 03

  Let's see. Have we?

• 14:33Doug DeMuro?

Oh, wow. There you go. This car, if you were alive at the time of this car, you will not ever win a Formula One championship. Sorry.

• 14:41Speaker 03

  Sorry, everybody born in 1995.

• 14:42Doug DeMuro?

Or 397. That's when it ended.

• 14:44Speaker 04

  We agree with that.

• 14:45Doug DeMuro?

  I will say.

• 14:46Speaker 03

  At 50 production years.

• 14:47Doug DeMuro?

Kenan, do you think that if, if he wins next year and he's still with Ferrari, they will build an F44?

• 14:52Speaker 03

I think if he was, yeah, if he's able to win a championship, absolutely. But that said, also, Michael Schumacher won a lot of championships with Ferrari. There's no Michael Schumacher edition, anything. Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso got the BS599.

• 15:03Speaker 04

What do you mean Schumacher edition? The whole company was a Schumacher edition for like 15 years.

• 15:07Speaker 03

  Well, that's, that's, I know what you're saying.

• 15:08Speaker 04

Wait, um, you know what he won't win though? He was born, he was alive during the J30 production. Give us our next news story.

• 15:16Speaker 03

• 16:54Speaker 04

All right, this is the Fiat Turbolino. It's a little mouse. That's what it's literally called.

• 16:58Speaker 03

  Really? That's what it means?

• 16:59Speaker 04

Yeah. It is coming to the US. So a couple of weeks ago, Donald Trump, the president, went to Japan or somewhere, was talking about K cars. It was a weird phrase.

• 17:09Speaker 03

  Thank you for clarifying.

• 17:10Speaker 04

  I thought I should.

• 17:11Speaker 03

  President, go what?

• 17:13Speaker 04

He, he said that basically that the JDM K cars were cute and smart. And so Fiat, uh, and you know. FCA generally wanting to be on the present good side is bringing a Topolino to the US.

• 17:26Doug DeMuro?

So the Topolino is theoretically coming to US. Is it going to be coming with a rope?

• 17:31Speaker 04

  A stanchion.

• 17:32Doug DeMuro?

  People at the club. Yeah.

• 17:33Speaker 04

We don't know. We really don't know, but I can't. The one that's sold in the in the EU is an eight horsepower, 5.5 kilowatt hour battery, has zero range. It's 44 inches shorter, 43 inches shorter, excuse me, than a 500E.

• 17:46Doug DeMuro?

You know, I was looking up, I was looking at pictures. One of the press photos shows a plug. And you know what the plug is? It's a household.

• 17:53Speaker 04

Yeah, because it's a small battery. It's like your phone.

• 17:55Doug DeMuro?

It's European household. Well, yeah, but it is. They're gonna put a 110, is that? Yeah, presumably that's what it is in Europe. Really? It's a house, dead serious. If you look up press photos of the plug, it comes out of like thereish and it's just a household plug.

• 18:08Speaker 04

I mean, think about it. It's a really small battery. Truly, it's a tiny.

• 18:11Doug DeMuro?

  What is the actual range?

• 18:12Speaker 04

47 miles in Europe, which means 30 in the US.

• 18:15Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, because European miles are different than US miles.

• 18:18Speaker 04

The WLTP cycle that they use is much more generous in the EPA.

• 18:21Doug DeMuro?

It's more compact, so they decided the miles on 4100 feet. They're like, you know, we don't need, uh, Americans, they're so big over there.

• 18:28Speaker 04

It would probably be sold under the same low speed neighborhood electric vehicle regulations, not as a car, doesn't have to be licensed plated in most states.

• 18:35Doug DeMuro?

Everyone is excited about Trump saying that he's into K cars.

• 18:38Speaker 04

  Yes, we are. Everybody.

• 18:38Doug DeMuro?

The truth is, though, Trump can't just say things. I mean, he can, he does often. That doesn't mean has. But it doesn't necessarily happen. In fact, often the stuff that he says does not happen. And in this case, there's 10 zillion regulations that prohibit K cars, which by the way are annoying. Let's remove all the regulations.

• 18:54Speaker 04

  No regulations.

• 18:54Doug DeMuro?

Let's do a free market, dude. No more, no more chicken tech. Let's get those pickup trucks in.

• 18:59Speaker 04

I do like some of the safety regulations. I'm supportive.

• 19:02Doug DeMuro?

The safety regulations would happen anyway. New Zealand, okay, has zero regulations because the market's not large enough to regulate. And guess what? All cars in New Zealand sell airbags and backup.

• 19:11Speaker 04

There's not enough, because they, they're not gonna make a separate car, although Mexico, which also is relatively few, there are vehicles sold there where they remove the airbags for sale.

• 19:18Doug DeMuro?

They do not remove. Every car in Mexico's got airbags to drive around.

• 19:22Speaker 04

You'd be surprised. There's some massively decontested cars because they can't.

• 19:24Doug DeMuro?

No, everybody in Mexico's driving around with airbags except for the ones that they've, that they've.

• 19:28Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 19:29Doug DeMuro?

Okay, uh, next, next one, please. Oh. Oh. Safari and this.

• 19:34Speaker 04

Baden, baden. This is the Ineos Grenadier game viewer.

• 19:38Doug DeMuro?

  Okay.

• 19:38Speaker 04

Ineos announced this week that they're building the game viewer. Uh, it's being built in Botswana. So they're taking like a stretched grenadier, sending it to Botswana, where they will build custom safari-ready grenadiers.

• 19:49Speaker 03

I mean, that is, yeah, that's kind of where you want to build them. That's not a bad idea.

• 19:53Speaker 04

  Uh, highly customizable.

• 19:54Doug DeMuro?

So they're so desperate to sell cars that they've decided, okay.

• 19:56Speaker 04

  Also, they are longer.

• 19:58Speaker 03

The rich game reserves in Botswana, that's their target audience.

• 20:00Speaker 04

They are longer than the normal one.

• 20:01Doug DeMuro?

Have you seen a pickup truck on the road?

• 20:04Speaker 04

Yes, one. It was right next to the dealer. It was on a mess drive.

• 20:08Doug DeMuro?

I've seen one. There's a guy on Antigua and that's it. I haven't seen one in California.

• 20:11Speaker 04

  They're expensive.

• 20:12Doug DeMuro?

Have you seen a pickup? Do you know that there is a pickup?

• 20:13Speaker 03

  No, I haven't seen one.

• 20:15Speaker 04

  The, uh...

• 20:16Doug DeMuro?

  Quartermaster.

• 20:17Speaker 04

  Quartermasters, right.

• 20:18Doug DeMuro?

I reviewed one. It was fun.

• 20:19Speaker 04

Yeah, it was great. Uh, but this is the game viewer. You'll see it if you go on safari at like a really nice place.

• 20:24Doug DeMuro?

There is no place that's gonna buy a BMW turbocharged engine.

• 20:27Speaker 03

They are sticking to the 70s series.

• 20:29Doug DeMuro?

  No, there must be...

• 20:30Speaker 03

As they have for 30 years.

• 20:32Speaker 04

Keep in mind that the guys that run Ineos presumably have investments of cross, might have their own game.

• 20:36Doug DeMuro?

They will sell them to game reserves.

• 20:38Speaker 03

  I'm telling you.

• 20:39Doug DeMuro?

Appeal to a very certain clientele, but even then they'll have a fleet of Toyotas in the background for when these things cause problems.

• 20:45Speaker 03

As someone who has done this and has been on safari for several weeks in Botswana, I suspect that the 70s series will always...

• 20:51Doug DeMuro?

You want an MDX. You want an open differential.

• 20:54Speaker 04

  You want an MDX.

• 20:56Doug DeMuro?

Acura. Open MDX. Here's what you do. You take an MDX.

• 20:59Speaker 04

An Acura MDX, just for clarity.

• 21:01Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, yeah. You pull the roof off.

• 21:02Speaker 04

  Which gen?

• 21:03Doug DeMuro?

Uh, the 07 one that was really ugly when it debuted, but has since...

• 21:06Speaker 04

We love it. We like it.

• 21:07Doug DeMuro?

Has since sort of morphed into also still ugly, but in a different way. Do you know what I'm saying?

• 21:11Speaker 04

Yeah, 270 horsepower, 3.5 liter VTEC.

• 21:13Doug DeMuro?

  It was a 3.7.

• 21:14Speaker 04

Oh, it was a 3.7 by that. You're right. I'm so sorry. 270 horsepower, 3.7.

• 21:19Doug DeMuro?

Ken, would you be proud to ride around looking at zebras in this? Would you think the zebras would be...

• 21:23Speaker 03

I mean, I prefer to drive my own truck. That's what we did. And that's, that's what I prefer to do. And I would always pick a Lancer.

• 21:29Speaker 04

Shift your M5 there and grab it. I mean, your own truck.

• 21:31Speaker 03

  I said my own truck.

• 21:32Speaker 04

  Yeah, I will rent it.

• 21:33Speaker 03

  Did I stutter?

• 21:34Doug DeMuro?

Does that sell 65? He'd drop his, he'd drop his RennTech tune on, on, on the hippos. They wouldn't know what's coming.

• 21:39Speaker 03

Well, hell yeah. I mean, just B58 under that hood, someone's gonna tune the shit out of it.

• 21:44Doug DeMuro?

  I, I should know.

• 21:45Speaker 04

By the way, the Ineos bought the people in Botswana that are doing this. They're called.

• 21:49Doug DeMuro?

Ineos bought the people in Botswana.

• 21:51Speaker 04

  The company Botswana.

• 21:52Doug DeMuro?

The British have already got a history of don't, God, watch your language here.

• 21:58Speaker 04

I think my language is probably appropriate for the reality on the ground.

• 22:02Doug DeMuro?

There's a company that has a factory that makes vehicles in Botswana?

• 22:05Speaker 04

Cavango Engineering apparently uses to convert Land Cruisers and Land Rover Defenders. And Ineos bought that company and it's making these.

• 22:11Doug DeMuro?

Can I, can I tell you something? If you, if you go on Street View in Africa.

• 22:14Speaker 04

  Sure.

• 22:15Doug DeMuro?

You know what cars you see?

• 22:15Speaker 04

  Large continent.

• 22:17Doug DeMuro?

You know what cars you see? Yeah, don't, you get, not in populated Africa, but like West Africa and like all the, you know what cars you see 100% of the time? American cars that are no longer used in America that are exported. No, no, no, it's always true. Siennas and Corollas and Matrixes and cars that were sold new here in Nebraska and driven by some old lady and she has no idea that her old car is now in Ghana, you know, driving 14 people around.

• 22:40Speaker 04

Do you think the Pontiac vibes are cheaper than Toyota Matrixes there too?

• 22:43Doug DeMuro?

  If you.

• 22:44Speaker 04

Do you think the price differential exists?

• 22:45Doug DeMuro?

No. It's all, in Africa, it's all about utility and everybody in Africa knows the one point eight.

• 22:51Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 22:52Doug DeMuro?

If you go in Africa Street View, Ghana Street View is wild. It's, you're like, wait a minute, that's my mom's old Sienna.

• 22:57Speaker 04

  Yeah. Yep. That's true.

• 23:00Doug DeMuro?

Okay. Uh, what, what else we got? Any more news?

• 23:03Speaker 04

  All right.

• 23:03Doug DeMuro?

  Lotus.

• 23:04Speaker 04

  This is a Lotus Electra.

• 23:05Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, yeah.

• 23:06Speaker 04

It's famously an electric SUV that somehow costs $250,000 in the US. They are for sale in the US.

• 23:13Doug DeMuro?

Go ahead, go ahead and finish the story. I don't want to talk about that.

• 23:16Speaker 04

It's been an EV only that has like 900 something horsepower. Doug maybe has reviewed with one. He has to be the only person that's ever seen one.

• 23:23Doug DeMuro?

  I've reviewed a full electric.

• 23:24Speaker 04

Right. That's all that there has been up till today. When now apparently they're gonna start building a plug-in hybrid one that has a two-liter four-cylinder. And apparently 940-ish horsepower.

• 23:37Doug DeMuro?

  Great. That'll be great.

• 23:37Speaker 04

  More powerful.

• 23:38Doug DeMuro?

Lovely. Can you go to, um, can you type in Lotus Electra for sale?

• 23:42Speaker 04

  That's crazy.

• 23:44Doug DeMuro?

All right. Just for sale. Uh, it's T R E.

• 23:47Speaker 04

  Yeah, you'd think there was a C.

• 23:48Doug DeMuro?

For sale. Yeah, that's all. And then hit images.

• 23:51Speaker 04

  Okay.

• 23:52Doug DeMuro?

This car is local. This one here, you can actually click on it.

• 23:55Speaker 04

  Cars.com.

• 23:55Doug DeMuro?

Big shout out. Tap on that. Uh, this car is local, local here at Aston Martin of San Diego. You can buy it today. It's an Electra for $243,000. Let me ask you this. Is this the least desirable $243,000 car?

• 24:09Speaker 04

  Now, I.

• 24:10Doug DeMuro?

Can you think? Of any. Probably some 356.

• 24:13Speaker 03

  Yeah, well, always.

• 24:15Doug DeMuro?

There's there are 356s that inexplicably are worth 250 because they have one more horsepower than, you know, that only did Jerry Seinfeld.

• 24:22Speaker 03

From a performance perspective, I can think of a worse ratio like the multi when the like Volkswagen buses, though it is a desirable car because they're cool.

• 24:29Doug DeMuro?

I don't think those are 250 grand, though.

• 24:31Speaker 03

  I think they are.

• 24:32Doug DeMuro?

This is the worst 250, certainly the worst 250 on a new car. So Lotus. Is it the worst new car overall?

• 24:38Speaker 04

It's up there. Lotus had a tough situation where they were gonna sell these for 100 something, 120, 130,000.

• 24:45Doug DeMuro?

Where it was already gonna be a depreciation disaster.

• 24:47Speaker 04

Massively. They were early to the fully EV luxury SUV game. It's a somehow 6,000 pound Lotus, which doesn't make sense.

• 24:54Speaker 03

Doesn't make sense. So in a lightness, so they had a little bit too much.

• 24:58Doug DeMuro?

But it was fast. Colin Chapman envisioned envisioned this vehicle. He was creating the original line.

• 25:05Speaker 04

But then it was built, it's built in China and therefore there's a 100% tariff on it.

• 25:09Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 25:10Speaker 04

That that made pricing a little tough.

• 25:12Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 25:13Speaker 03

  Well.

• 25:14Speaker 04

That won't change with the gas one. I'm not sure the gas one's coming to the US because why would they bother?

• 25:19Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 25:20Speaker 04

It is based on a different Zeeker Chinese EV or plug-in hybrid using the same powertrain.

• 25:24Doug DeMuro?

  Tough situation here.

• 25:26Speaker 03

  But you know what?

• 25:26Doug DeMuro?

Lotus took a risk. Lotus took a risk and it really failed.

• 25:30Speaker 04

  Really failed.

• 25:33Speaker 03

Sometimes your numbers come up and sometimes they don't.

• 25:36Doug DeMuro?

I will say, producing in China was a risk from the beginning.

• 25:38Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 25:39Doug DeMuro?

There tariffs were always a threat against China. Even Biden had them. The US market's never gonna like these things heavily. The Lotus brand presumably is not very strong in China, so it's not like they're even recording a lot of sales there.

• 25:51Speaker 04

  By.

• 25:51Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, I know, but it's not like the Chinese are like, ooh, Lotus. They don't know. They don't have any history of this brand. And even if they did, the history would be the same as everybody else's history, which is that the brand has largely been a failure for our entire lives.

• 26:00Speaker 04

But don't you kind of want a mirror?

• 26:03Doug DeMuro?

  No, I want that MR2.

• 26:05Speaker 03

I'd like to drive one. I'm curious.

• 26:06Doug DeMuro?

I want that MR2. If they do a stick of that MR2 and it feels fast.

• 26:12Speaker 04

  400 horsepower should.

• 26:13Doug DeMuro?

I will review it well, but not buy it.

• 26:16Speaker 04

Yep, that's, yep, that sounds right.

• 26:18Doug DeMuro?

  We got any more news?

• 26:18Speaker 04

Yeah, I got one more news story.

• 26:20Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, wow.

• 26:21Speaker 04

  So, Itel Design.

• 26:22Doug DeMuro?

This is my all time favorite car.

• 26:24Speaker 03

I'm sad that the picture for this wasn't the guy in the bicycle looking.

• 26:27Doug DeMuro?

Who's like looking at it like what?

• 26:28Speaker 03

  What the hell?

• 26:29Speaker 04

Itel Design, famous for designing the Columbus, of course. But also the first generation Golf, the BMW M1, a bunch of other cars that we know and love, and other cars that are hideous. They've done both. That was founded by Giugiaro Giugiaro. Audi and Lamborghini have owned them for a while.

• 26:45Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 26:45Speaker 04

Audi, or Lamborghini, all owned by Audi, have sold the majority stake of it to a company called UST. And on their website, UST is like, like the subline is, we don't just use AI, we reimagine industries with it.

• 27:01Doug DeMuro?

And they're located in like Santa Ana?

• 27:03Speaker 04

  They're located in Orange County.

• 27:05Doug DeMuro?

So, so Itel Design is owned by a company that's headquarters is off the, off Jamboree Road, off the 73. That's, that's what we're at now. Itel Design, this is a company that gave us some of the all time most, most famous car. Giugiaro was working for these guys.

• 27:19Speaker 03

Well, it's good news about that. I mean, they're an AI based company. Luckily, luckily, most of Itel Designs look like AI errors. So that's not too bad. But the other thing I guess is maybe this is, maybe now's your chance. Maybe now they'll be willing to sell the Columbus.

• 27:32Doug DeMuro?

Oh, that's such a good idea. And they're just up the road. All I gotta do is drive up to 73.

• 27:36Speaker 03

  That's right.

• 27:37Doug DeMuro?

And be like, yo, I know that you guys gave us some of the all time greatest cars in history, but can you sell me this?

• 27:44Speaker 03

Right, I value your heritage and I would like to own a piece of it.

• 27:47Speaker 04

We, we knew, by the way, we talked a few months ago, that Audi was looking to sell at least a portion of Itel Design. They're not using it.

• 27:53Speaker 03

I would, I would offer them what this is worth too, honestly.

• 27:56Speaker 04

• 27:57Speaker 03

Eighteen thousand dollars. I would give them every penny of eighteen thousand dollars.

• 28:01Speaker 04

I will say, there's one of my, so traditionally, PR announcements have like where each company's from, like the location of the PR announcement. And the PR announcement for this has Ingolstadt, Germany, Monte Calieri, Italy, and Aliso Viejo, California.

• 28:12Doug DeMuro?

Aliso Viejo, popping in. Wow. Dude, I'm telling you, something, the Lotus Esprit was in Itel Design. All of the original Hyundays, the DeLorean, the Subaru SVX, one of your all time favorites. Yes, the original Golf. Giugiaro was there, the 159, every Alpha, the Brera.

• 28:28Speaker 03

  Oh, the Brera.

• 28:28Doug DeMuro?

Really? And now, yeah, and now here they are, the M1, like you said, and now here they are. Off Jamboree Road.

• 28:35Speaker 04

They're actually on at five Polaris Way.

• 28:37Doug DeMuro?

I don't, no one knows where anything is.

• 28:39Speaker 04

  Same, same but different.

• 28:40Doug DeMuro?

Right off the 73 off of Aliso Viejo Parkway.

• 28:42Speaker 04

I'm gonna tell you this, and I'm not trying to be a jerk to Orange County, but once, once you're inland Orange County, there's no way to know where anything is. You have to have a GPS, even if you live there and have lived there your whole life.

• 28:51Doug DeMuro?

  So true.

• 28:52Speaker 03

  That's very true.

• 28:53Doug DeMuro?

Uh, okay, that's our last news story. What a shame. A Cal design, the history, the grand history.

• 28:58Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 28:58Doug DeMuro?

Now they're now an AI company in Aliso Viejo.

• 29:01Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 29:01Speaker 03

  How the mighty have fallen.

• 29:02Doug DeMuro?

Then again, don't forget the Carrera GT was designed in, in a, in a strip mall in Huntington Beach. The greatest car ever with a Formula One engine.

• 29:09Speaker 03

  Never you.

• 29:10Speaker 04

I like the additional qualification. It's not the greatest car ever, just the greatest car ever that has a Formula One engine.

• 29:15Doug DeMuro?

Oh. It was, I was trying to say the greatest car ever, and it has a Formula One engine.

• 29:18Speaker 04

  Okay, I got it.

• 29:19Speaker 03

  Comma.

• 29:20Doug DeMuro?

By the way, you know what we're not talking about today, and we should be on the news, is that Hagerty released that list where they always say what cars are gonna go up in value. Now, this list is a little scary. It's like that Grammy for Best New Artist, because usually the cars they pick go down in value.

• 29:31Speaker 04

  Yeah, like the top 900.

• 29:32Doug DeMuro?

Like the top 900, a big pick of theirs.

• 29:35Speaker 04

Which I'm a fan, to be clear.

• 29:36Doug DeMuro?

That was like a 50% decline after they picked it. Anywho, the Carrera GT's on the list. What are your thoughts on that list there? Does it have anything else good?

• 29:44Speaker 04

I mean, we can pull it up. We can, we can.

• 29:45Doug DeMuro?

Do we, do we, go, go pull it up.

• 29:47Speaker 03

  Mm-hmm.

• 29:48Doug DeMuro?

Full market list Hagerty. What's on there?

• 29:51Speaker 04

Uh, I seem to recall a bunch of other good stuff. Uh, the, the Alpha GTV is on there.

• 29:57Speaker 03

Well, our producer would be thrilled.

• 29:58Speaker 04

  The C6, Z06 is on there, R33 Skyline GT-R.

• 30:02Doug DeMuro?

You know what truck, that 454 SS pickup? Those are cool.

• 30:06Speaker 04

That is real. Uh, Mark III.

• 30:07Speaker 03

  That is cool.

• 30:09Speaker 04

  Golf. E60 and 5.

• 30:11Speaker 03

Yeah, it's a car that is absolutely going up and down.

• 30:13Speaker 04

NB Miata, which I can't imagine does anything in value.

• 30:17Doug DeMuro?

Uh, you know, I will say, I think that compared, relative to the other cars on this list, the Carrera GT will go up on a percentage basis the most.

• 30:23Speaker 04

  You know, and I.

• 30:23Doug DeMuro?

These two will not at all.

• 30:25Speaker 03

Actually, I think the Carrera GT will go up in value that it will cover the rest of this group.

• 30:29Doug DeMuro?

They'll be like, we did it.

• 30:30Speaker 03

In the aggregate, they all, they all went up.

• 30:32Doug DeMuro?

The Ram Charger ain't going up. You gotta wonder though, uh, you know, are they running out of cars to put on the list?

• 30:37Speaker 04

No, I mean, the, the GTV values plummeted in the last year, so maybe they'll just kind of take back up to where we're.

• 30:43Doug DeMuro?

Is that a Studebaker Hawk? What is that?

• 30:45Speaker 04

  I don't know.

• 30:47Doug DeMuro?

We don't get into the old stuff.

• 30:48Speaker 04

  I will say Hagerty.

• 30:49Doug DeMuro?

  It's a Continental Mark II.

• 30:51Speaker 04

Hagerty, to their credit, has an incredible amount of data and incredibly talented data people. So I imagine there's reason behind these choices.

• 30:57Doug DeMuro?

There were many years where their list has been actually pretty successful. The cars have gone up, but there are some years where it hasn't.

• 31:03Speaker 04

  And 2021, what car wasn't?

• 31:05Doug DeMuro?

Right. Some of their picks, actually.

• 31:09Speaker 04

  No, we love the people.

• 31:09Doug DeMuro?

Anyway, Kieran G. is on there, the greatest car man. And one of the things they wrote in the article was that it's the Formula One engine is probably a big reason why it's going to continue to rise.

• 31:17Speaker 04

  Did they really?

• 31:17Doug DeMuro?

  No.

• 31:18Speaker 04

  No.

• 31:18Doug DeMuro?

Uh, and you want to know why?

• 31:19Speaker 04

Because they're not idiots, that's why.

• 31:21Doug DeMuro?

You want to know why they didn't write that? Because, because, uh, it, um, I'm told it doesn't have a Formula One engine.

• 31:26Speaker 04

  Wow.

• 31:27Speaker 03

• 32:47Doug DeMuro?

All right, we got to get into the Talk Cars segment, which of course is sponsored by, uh, Kenan's Rentech Tune.

• 32:53Speaker 04

Oh, yes. That's like 200 horsepower.

• 32:55Doug DeMuro?

Many badges are on this car to signify it.

• 32:58Speaker 03

Yep, three. Two of them, I'm going to take off all three.

• 33:02Doug DeMuro?

The first big, the first big top cars that I think we should talk about.

• 33:05Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 33:05Doug DeMuro?

  Is the Doug Sember arrival.

• 33:07Speaker 04

  We should.

• 33:09Doug DeMuro?

Doug Sember is back. We're hitting it hard this year.

• 33:12Speaker 04

  We are.

• 33:12Doug DeMuro?

We got the Rivian, new Rivian thing, the new Rivian quad motor, which was cool. The 993 turbo announcement, the Citroen DS, the Hyundai Creator, and then this week, the Cadillac Celestiq. Did you watch my Celestiq video?

• 33:22Speaker 04

  I have yet to watch.

• 33:23Doug DeMuro?

What? Felipe, this is the only, if you're gonna.

• 33:26Speaker 04

Oh, I will watch it. No, no, I will certainly watch it.

• 33:28Doug DeMuro?

There, this is some good stuff. Show us the Celestiq thing. You don't have to click on it.

• 33:33Speaker 04

  Look at that.

• 33:34Doug DeMuro?

This is good stuff. This is an American Rolls Royce, Felipe.

• 33:38Speaker 04

  I'm excited to watch.

• 33:38Doug DeMuro?

The standard of the world has returned.

• 33:41Speaker 04

  And how will it sell?

• 33:42Doug DeMuro?

  Poorly.

• 33:43Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 33:43Doug DeMuro?

And it's going to be a depreciation disaster, much like the Lotus Eletre.

• 33:47Speaker 04

How much is a? Okay, so this feels Lincoln Continental Coach Door-esque to me.

• 33:53Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 33:53Speaker 04

Where they did something different. Luxurious. Doors open backwards.

• 33:57Doug DeMuro?

  It's 400, though.

• 33:59Speaker 04

Right, but how much is, like, how much did a Continental Coach Door drop?

• 34:03Doug DeMuro?

  How much did it drop?

• 34:04Speaker 04

  Has it maintained value?

• 34:05Doug DeMuro?

  No.

• 34:05Speaker 04

  Oh, this one either.

• 34:06Doug DeMuro?

No, this is gonna be, it's gonna be a tough resale. It's gonna be a tough.

• 34:09Speaker 04

Do you want to share some of the other things you have coming up in Doug Sember for the people to look forward to?

• 34:12Doug DeMuro?

  Uh, yeah.

• 34:15Doug DeMuro?

  What are they?

• 34:16Speaker 04

Uh, you've got a Singer review coming up?

• 34:19Doug DeMuro?

  Zinger, not Singer.

• 34:20Speaker 04

  Not Singer, sorry, apologies, apologies.

• 34:22Doug DeMuro?

Be thrilled. It ain't. You don't have to sit through one of those. It's the Zinger, which we in the office call Sizzinger because that's what it looks like, but it's Zinger is generally what it's actually called.

• 34:32Speaker 04

  The Cadillac Voyage?

• 34:33Doug DeMuro?

Like, the Cadillac Voyage and the new RAV4 GR Sport.

• 34:38Speaker 04

  Whoa.

• 34:38Doug DeMuro?

  I also.

• 34:39Speaker 04

  Buckled in.

• 34:40Doug DeMuro?

You know what, you know what I also am realizing? I totaled up, I did how much I spent on car repairs in '25. It didn't include, the Countach broke down after I made that video. I made that video December 1, and then the Countach broke.

• 34:53Speaker 03

Couldn't make it through the month.

• 34:55Doug DeMuro?

Let's talk about that. That's my next thought cars. The Countach is back. Countach broke down last week and and it's back. It broke down, I think, on the way to the pod last week and now it's back.

• 35:03Speaker 04

  It's back.

• 35:04Doug DeMuro?

It was Tuesday last week, so it's back eight days later. All good. Drives pristinely.

• 35:10Speaker 04

  What happened?

• 35:11Speaker 03

  From the shop to here.

• 35:12Doug DeMuro?

The clutch master cylinder failed. And you know what's interesting? Because I went back and looked. This car had a service in 2005 that was more than the value of the car.

• 35:21Speaker 04

  Wow.

• 35:22Doug DeMuro?

In 2005, it had a $75,000 service, which in today's money has got to be $150,000 and the car at that time was worth maybe 75.

• 35:29Speaker 04

  That's how cheap they were?

• 35:30Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.

• 35:32Doug DeMuro?

Maybe less. And I went back and looked and you know what? Part was not replaced during that service? The master cylinder. The slave was and the slave hadn't failed, but I told them to just replace the slave anyways.

• 35:42Speaker 03

You should replace them in tandem. You should.

• 35:44Doug DeMuro?

  We replaced them together.

• 35:45Speaker 03

But wow, so it was original.

• 35:46Doug DeMuro?

It was either original or even older than that. I don't have any records before that service. It was 25 years ago.

• 35:52Speaker 04

Sure, but they're original or older?

• 35:53Speaker 03

Right, it came off a 350 GT.

• 35:56Doug DeMuro?

Well, it was original or older than that, being older than that service that I'm referencing. I don't know. It may be newer than original.

• 36:01Speaker 03

You know what? If they did that much work and didn't replace it, I'd put money on it being original.

• 36:04Doug DeMuro?

  Probably.

• 36:05Speaker 03

In which case it legitimately just didn't owe you anything. It's just an old component that's pressing a lot.

• 36:09Speaker 04

  Forty years?

• 36:09Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 36:10Speaker 04

Countach is still going. How did it feel with the new?

• 36:12Speaker 03

  Did you feel any difference?

• 36:13Doug DeMuro?

Oh, it drives so well. It's just the greatest. Now, I will say on the way back here, I hit 64,000 kilometers, which is 39,800 miles. So I'm this close to 40,000 miles in that car.

• 36:27Speaker 03

  Big 4-0.

• 36:28Doug DeMuro?

Forty thousand miles. I bought the car, for those of you keeping track at home, with 37,000, almost exactly. So 3,000 miles in the Countach.

• 36:37Speaker 04

  Not bad in a Countach.

• 36:38Doug DeMuro?

How many miles have you put on it?

• 36:39Speaker 04

  On that Countach?

• 36:40Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 36:41Speaker 04

  Hmm, 12.

• 36:42Doug DeMuro?

  Have you driven it?

• 36:42Speaker 04

  No.

• 36:43Doug DeMuro?

  Damn, why not?

• 36:44Speaker 04

If I haven't had an opportunity.

• 36:46Speaker 03

I've missed two opportunities to drive that car and I regret it every day.

• 36:50Speaker 04

Oh, I don't think about it.

• 36:51Speaker 03

I was sick for one and then I was out of town.

• 36:54Speaker 04

  I want to be clear.

• 36:55Speaker 03

Filippo, we know. We understand it's not for you.

• 36:58Doug DeMuro?

  The 993 has problems too.

• 37:00Speaker 03

  Uh oh.

• 37:01Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, yeah. Nothing major. Still driving it every day.

• 37:04Speaker 04

Is it with one of the four power seat controls?

• 37:06Doug DeMuro?

We put, uh, we got all four, we got two kids and two adults in the car. Everybody's driving around and it's great. But, uh, you know, the car hasn't been used like I'm using it in a long time. I've driven it 3,000 miles in, uh, 60 days.

• 37:21Speaker 04

  That's crazy.

• 37:21Doug DeMuro?

Um, and 3,000 miles before that had been many years. And so, uh, it's, it's had some issues. It hasn't broken down or anything, but there's a, a warning light on that the fan belt has failed. Fan belt's a big deal in that car because it's air cooled. Um, it has not failed. I checked that the, the sensor has failed.

• 37:37Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 37:38Doug DeMuro?

Uh, the glove box broke. There's like little things, so it's going in as well for service.

• 37:42Speaker 04

  But 2026.

• 37:43Doug DeMuro?

  26.

• 37:44Speaker 03

Pretty normal to, like you said, you just got this car. There will be things that you have to shake out of it.

• 37:49Doug DeMuro?

Discover some things. Also, I've, I was planning not to do an oil change until the spring, but I've driven it so much that now I kind of have to do it right away. But the reason I brought these things up is because this is car, this is owning cool, fun cars.

• 38:00Speaker 03

  I agree.

• 38:00Doug DeMuro?

They, sometimes they break and you're on a rollback and, and the car goes in and you gotta do a master and slave cylinder. Sometimes it's the glove box breaks. This is, if you want to have fun cars, cool cars, this is the kind of thing that happens.

• 38:11Speaker 03

Yes, I know. I've been doing this for a decade.

• 38:14Doug DeMuro?

  Filippo, on the other hand.

• 38:16Speaker 04

  My cars don't break down.

• 38:17Doug DeMuro?

Are you gonna tell, yeah, well, there's.

• 38:18Speaker 03

  Yep, take a guess what?

• 38:20Doug DeMuro?

Boring stuff. Can you tell us about the situation?

• 38:23Speaker 04

  I'm, I'm, I'm in active negotiations.

• 38:26Doug DeMuro?

On a car. We're not gonna say which. We're not gonna talk about it, folks. I know. Kenan knows. People off camera know. The fellow he's negotiating with, whose name is Luke, he knows. But we're not gonna share it with you until next week when Filippo drives the car through our podcast.

• 38:44Speaker 04

That would be incredible. Slowly. I don't want to damage it.

• 38:48Speaker 03

You feeling good that this is gonna happen?

• 38:50Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 38:50Speaker 03

It's like a very high likelihood to you?

• 38:52Speaker 04

Yeah, it seems like a very high likelihood. I just don't wanna be like scooped, you know?

• 38:57Speaker 03

  I'm a little bit anxious-

• 38:57Speaker 04

By Friday, when this comes out, I better own the car, but we'll see.

• 39:01Doug DeMuro?

I'm a little bit anxious about you driving an expensive car.

• 39:04Speaker 03

  As am I.

• 39:05Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 39:05Doug DeMuro?

Like, you have not treated your other cars well.

• 39:09Speaker 04

Hmm, I would have to treat this marginally nicer and a little more nicely.

• 39:11Speaker 03

No, no, no, not marginally. I think you got, I mean like, I am, I am also worried.

• 39:17Doug DeMuro?

You won't be able to devote your garage to woodworking projects anymore?

• 39:20Speaker 04

I know, that is gonna be a real issue for my wife and I.

• 39:22Doug DeMuro?

  Do you remember when the-

• 39:23Speaker 04

I don't know how to go around it.

• 39:24Doug DeMuro?

You remember when you mounted the front plate to the GTI and didn't, and didn't clean the bugs off the bumper?

• 39:28Speaker 03

  Yep, I remember that.

• 39:30Speaker 04

  I washed it after.

• 39:31Speaker 03

  Now, I washed it after.

• 39:34Doug DeMuro?

When the, when the front plate was already on.

• 39:37Speaker 03

I, you and I did a video a while ago about how to wash a car.

• 39:39Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 39:39Speaker 03

I think that will come in, that will come in handy.

• 39:42Doug DeMuro?

Do you know that when we went, we did this, we did some desert thing, you'll see it in a couple of weeks. Uh, and when we went out there, his battery has failed in this 500 apart and he just starts it with a jump box every single time?

• 39:52Speaker 04

  It, I wanna be clear.

• 39:54Doug DeMuro?

We were in Riverside, so it was like on brand, but like.

• 39:57Speaker 04

We filmed a little series last week, which was very fun. I hadn't driven that Fiat in three weeks. I wasn't aware of the battery fails because it had sat in my driveway, undriven. But now I will get a new battery.

• 40:09Speaker 03

You will need to have this car on like a battery tender if it's gonna sit for that.

• 40:12Speaker 04

I plan on driving it quite regularly. We're going down to, so he, we, right now we own three cars, three and a half cars. Uh, the Fiat 100 apart, the Chevrolet, the Volkswagen GTI and our Mercedes station wagon.

• 40:25Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 40:25Speaker 04

Uh, we're gonna get rid of two of those.

• 40:27Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 40:28Speaker 04

And replace them with the car that I'm buying. So the GTI and the bar that are leaving and this car that I'm buying will be the car that I drive around.

• 40:34Doug DeMuro?

You know, he's also getting a carbureted pickup truck.

• 40:36Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 40:36Speaker 03

Oh, right, forgot about the car, the car truck.

• 40:38Speaker 04

Inherited from my late father-in-law is a nineteen, late seventies F250.

• 40:42Speaker 03

How long you have to keep that thing?

• 40:44Speaker 04

  Forever.

• 40:45Doug DeMuro?

  Forever?

• 40:46Speaker 04

  Familial obligation requires forever.

• 40:48Speaker 03

Forever? No, well, no, that's, that's not, not gonna happen.

• 40:51Speaker 04

It'll be great. My, my wife will, will love it.

• 40:53Speaker 03

No, she won't. She will really hate it when it fouls up and like she needs points and she dies.

• 40:58Doug DeMuro?

  Does it drive?

• 40:58Speaker 04

We don't know. So the, the-

• 41:00Doug DeMuro?

  You should EV swap it.

• 41:01Speaker 04

Here, here's an issue. I'm told, my late father-in-law was a mechanic. My brother-in-law helped him with some projects. I'm told that they had it running like six months ago. It has since sat outside.

• 41:13Doug DeMuro?

What's what motors in it? 351 Cleveland?

• 41:15Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah, I hope so.

• 41:17Speaker 04

By all accounts, it ran recently enough. It should be easy enough to get running. I suspect they'll need brakes, tires, some of the consumables, but that's easy.

• 41:24Doug DeMuro?

Who's easy enough to get running? You're not gonna get this thing running.

• 41:26Speaker 04

I don't know. We'll figure it out. I gotta get it here first.

• 41:29Doug DeMuro?

How are you gonna get it here?

• 41:30Speaker 04

I will have to figure that out. It's currently in Arizona.

• 41:33Doug DeMuro?

  May I suggest?

• 41:34Speaker 04

  I will rent a U-Haul trailer.

• 41:35Doug DeMuro?

May I suggest using a Dodge Power Wagon?

• 41:37Speaker 04

  I would love that.

• 41:38Doug DeMuro?

  They seem pretty hefty.

• 41:40Speaker 04

Yeah, yeah. I suspect that I will probably have to like rent a car that can has a towing capacity and a hit.

• 41:45Doug DeMuro?

You're gonna tow this thing 12 hours?

• 41:47Speaker 04

  It's six hours.

• 41:48Doug DeMuro?

  Not with towing?

• 41:49Speaker 04

  Ah, seven.

• 41:50Doug DeMuro?

  No, it's like nine.

• 41:52Speaker 03

  It's gonna be nine.

• 41:52Doug DeMuro?

  Especially you towing.

• 41:54Speaker 04

California towing speed limit is 55.

• 41:55Doug DeMuro?

Especially you towing. Like, you're gonna oh, him in a gas station with a with a trailer backing up. Oh, wait, why is it going left if I'm turning right? I don't understand. I don't understand.

• 42:04Speaker 04

  I have towed regularly before.

• 42:06Doug DeMuro?

What? You have not regularly? When have you towed boats?

• 42:11Speaker 04

Last time we were out in the water, six months ago. Six months ago.

• 42:14Speaker 03

  I did it regularly once.

• 42:16Speaker 04

  No, I did.

• 42:17Doug DeMuro?

Whenever I go out in the water, I tow boats.

• 42:19Speaker 04

  Quite comfortable towing.

• 42:20Speaker 03

  Flipper, you're fascinating life.

• 42:22Speaker 04

I do lead a fascinating life. Thank you. I'm quite comfortable towing. I just gotta get it home. That's the hard part.

• 42:27Speaker 03

  You're gonna have this.

• 42:27Doug DeMuro?

What are you gonna do when it's home? You're not gonna.

• 42:29Speaker 03

It doesn't run. What do you?

• 42:30Speaker 04

  Of course I will.

• 42:31Doug DeMuro?

You can't put that at your house.

• 42:32Speaker 04

Oh, there are worse cars on my street.

• 42:34Speaker 03

Actually, there's a huge pickup truck across the street.

• 42:36Speaker 04

  Only sometimes, thankfully. Only sometimes.

• 42:39Speaker 03

It's gonna go over the case. Hey, buddy, wanna work on the truck?

• 42:43Speaker 04

That's the worst part. He'll wanna talk about it.

• 42:44Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 42:46Doug DeMuro?

  This is an F-250?

• 42:47Speaker 04

  Yeah, Ranger.

• 42:49Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 42:50Speaker 04

  XLT.

• 42:51Speaker 03

  It's a serious truck, but like I'm.

• 42:52Doug DeMuro?

  It's a great truck.

• 42:54Speaker 04

  I think we will legit.

• 42:55Doug DeMuro?

  Pull up what this is.

• 42:56Speaker 04

  Like, it's like a 77 something.

• 42:57Doug DeMuro?

77 F-250 Ranger. Take that in. See, we'll feel.

• 43:02Speaker 04

  Yeah, it's got some good.

• 43:04Speaker 03

  Is it two-tone?

• 43:05Doug DeMuro?

  Is it a Bicolore?

• 43:07Speaker 04

It is actually a Bicolore, but it's primarily just patina and blue.

• 43:10Doug DeMuro?

Are you gonna get it? Like, if you gotta look like this?

• 43:13Speaker 04

  Staying like that.

• 43:13Doug DeMuro?

Look at those mirrors. Look at those trailer mirrors.

• 43:15Speaker 04

Much more like that Carlisle auction one. It's gonna stay like that, obviously. But it's Arizona.

• 43:22Speaker 03

  That won't be an eyesore.

• 43:22Speaker 04

  It's like an Arizona truck.

• 43:23Doug DeMuro?

  You're a 77?

• 43:24Speaker 04

  77, 78, I don't remember.

• 43:25Doug DeMuro?

  You realize that's small?

• 43:27Speaker 03

Yeah, you have to cut. Yeah, 75, you cut out there, buddy.

• 43:31Doug DeMuro?

Oh, man, finally. But it's based on the It's based on the admissions requirements of the time, right? You will not pass. You will not pass. There is not. There's no way. I'm gonna tell you this, if you ask the state legislators and the state legislators and the CHP, there is not a single car in California registered from 1976 to about 1988. They don't exist. They don't exist. They're not here. Remain titled and everything. We'll see. We'll find out. It's a good, interesting point. I hadn't thought about smog. But I'm excited to have it in my life. You thought this too. Well, of course not. This isn't a car I purchased. This is a car that has been very kindly given to me. Well, the state of California doesn't want this car, okay? However, if you get those wheels on it. My wife is very excited, though, because it will be like a cool. Illinois, they want them, I'll tell you that.

• 44:15Speaker 03

  Yeah, buddy.

• 44:16Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. It'll be a cool. This truck's too nice, though. This guy doesn't take this into this mud. He backed it off a trailer, took the picture, and now he's back.

• 44:23Speaker 03

Which is exactly how Felipe will use it.

• 44:25Doug DeMuro?

  I'm excited about it.

• 44:27Speaker 03

Man, it does look good, I'll give you that.

• 44:29Speaker 04

• 46:12Doug DeMuro?

All right, what what other news, what other cars stories? Kenan, you went to the Southeast.

• 46:19Speaker 03

I did. Yeah, I went to New Orleans to film with the Jaguar XK140. They'll be coming up on the site very soon.

• 46:24Doug DeMuro?

Fastest car in the world, just like my Countach was.

• 46:26Speaker 03

It was the 120 like, oh, I just, I'm stunned as I did research on this car, like the the records that it held. The 120 like from 1949 until 1953, it set a speed record every single year.

• 46:36Doug DeMuro?

Really like the car just get.

• 46:37Speaker 03

  And the crazy.

• 46:38Doug DeMuro?

  Broke in and went faster.

• 46:39Speaker 03

Kind of, but the the thing, the one that blew my mind was, uh, it was in 53, they did. They they in 52, they set a record, it was like over, it was like 130 miles an hour sustained for an hour. And the driver got out and said, wow, this car feels so good, it could do it for a week. And the next year they were like, you know, let's do that. And so they did for a week, they averaged over 100 miles an hour for seven days and seven nights.

• 47:00Doug DeMuro?

  You're kidding.

• 47:01Speaker 03

Stopping to change the, I think they changed the wheels and the tires and they changed the drivers, obviously. And they were nursing a suspension problem, but they still did it.

• 47:08Doug DeMuro?

  You're kidding.

• 47:09Speaker 03

No, 17,000 miles in a week.

• 47:10Doug DeMuro?

  You couldn't do.

• 47:11Speaker 03

In the 1950s, I mean, that's pretty amazing.

• 47:13Doug DeMuro?

You couldn't do that in a Jag today.

• 47:15Speaker 03

No, mostly because they don't build cars. But but it just like that, it was very cool to drive in it. And we were talking about how it's hard, like sometimes the challenge of using a car or living with a car kind of is the appeal. And the cars from the 50s, I've never really been attracted to, but having driven it now, I get it like I understand. It's funny, like you go around the corner, there's no bullshit on the seats, you gotta hold yourself like with your elbow on the outside of the car. And it looks so cool and it sounds awesome.

• 47:40Doug DeMuro?

  Big steering wheel.

• 47:41Speaker 03

  Huge steering wheel and.

• 47:42Doug DeMuro?

  Thin rim.

• 47:43Speaker 03

Yeah, thin rim, but it's got cutouts for your fingers and like.

• 47:46Doug DeMuro?

  You're constantly trimming.

• 47:48Speaker 03

Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yes, you are.

• 47:49Doug DeMuro?

You just learned the word trimming. I want to ask you a question about this because you've used it a lot in the last week, but never before like last Thursday.

• 47:56Speaker 03

I like a good trim, dude.

• 47:57Doug DeMuro?

Interesting. All right, sorry, continue, Kenny.

• 48:00Speaker 03

Anyway, so yeah, so that was fantastic. It was nice to be back in New Orleans too. I love New Orleans. And then I went to St. Pete, Florida, driving McLaren MP4 12C Spider, which we're coming soon to sight too. Been very interested in those cars. I've only driven a 720S. I've never driven like the

• 48:14Doug DeMuro?

What are they sold for? Pull up, pull up an MP4.

• 48:16Speaker 03

Uh, we sold seventy to a hundred.

• 48:17Speaker 04

Yeah, we sold a hundred and twelve, yeah.

• 48:19Speaker 03

  Uh, let's see.

• 48:20Doug DeMuro?

You can just type in MP4. There's not a lot of different models of MP4.

• 48:24Speaker 03

  That's true.

• 48:24Doug DeMuro?

  Wow.

• 48:25Speaker 04

  Seventy to a hundred.

• 48:25Doug DeMuro?

Eighty to a hundred and ten.

• 48:27Speaker 03

Yeah. And this one, it's a one owner roadster. Um, it's in, it's thirteen thousand miles on it, whatever. I mean, it's a nice, nice car. Owned by a fascinating guy too. He's the chief strategist for Turner Motorsport. And he has, he's won two drivers championships and a, and twelve, uh, constructors championships with, or championships with, uh, with Turner.

• 48:45Doug DeMuro?

What'd you think of the car?

• 48:47Speaker 03

Loved it. Uh, it feels way more exotic than I was expecting, especially given its price point. I mean, it feels more like a three hundred thousand dollar car.

• 48:54Doug DeMuro?

  Better than Ferrari?

• 48:55Speaker 03

Uh, it was definitely faster, that's for sure. Um, but it's, uh, it, it had more torque. Uh, and this, I have to say the Spider, you're much closer to the engine, so you get the sounds. You get the turbo sound, you get the great sound of the V8. I think that makes it feel more exotic, which was a criticism level of the car at the time. But I think they are tremendous value and

• 49:12Doug DeMuro?

  If they stay reliable.

• 49:13Speaker 03

The thing, well, the thing is like, there's a lot, the later ones did get more reliable. The really early ones, we had to slide to open the door, which is what Filippo would buy. Those ones are inexpensive for a reason, cause they are.

• 49:24Doug DeMuro?

Wait, the later ones, they switched that to a real door handle?

• 49:26Speaker 03

Yeah, there's a button and they actually, yeah. So you just press the button.

• 49:29Doug DeMuro?

  In the early McLarens

• 49:30Speaker 04

What year is early and late?

• 49:32Doug DeMuro?

  Twelve, right?

• 49:32Speaker 03

  Twelve, yeah, twelve, I think.

• 49:33Doug DeMuro?

In the early McLarens, you literally just sort of, you think I'm not familiar?

• 49:36Speaker 03

They did that, they did away with that immediately.

• 49:38Doug DeMuro?

You know, my parents, when I was a kid, had an MP4 12C. It was a VCR.

• 49:43Speaker 03

Nice. Yes, that, the name is a bit tough.

• 49:46Doug DeMuro?

  Thank you, thank you.

• 49:47Speaker 03

It was later called the 12C for a good reason, cause the name is terrible. Um, but the car

• 49:51Doug DeMuro?

12C is pretty stupid also, especially since it doesn't have 12 cylinders.

• 49:55Speaker 03

Right now, yes. Well, yeah, but then Dodi Chiellini is not exactly great.

• 49:59Doug DeMuro?

  It has a 12 cylinder.

• 50:01Speaker 03

Anything around 12C just doesn't really work. 4C kind of works and 8C, I guess.

• 50:05Doug DeMuro?

I agree, these are cool cars. I agree they are values in today's market. I think they look really Cool.

• 50:10Speaker 03

Well, the last point I want to make, they are also well supported now by third-party places that service it.

• 50:15Doug DeMuro?

  Really?

• 50:16Speaker 03

When the car came out, yes, McMedics, like, there's a company that goes around and like,

• 50:19Doug DeMuro?

  It's like a guy.

• 50:20Speaker 03

Will come to you and service your car, like, and they work specialized in MP412C and like the early cars, which I think is cool. There are, there's a lot more support for this car now than there was when it came out. So you don't have to take it to a dealer. And I think that actually makes it substantially more compelling to own as enthusiasts have gotten into it more.

• 50:36Doug DeMuro?

  Are you compelled?

• 50:36Speaker 04

  No.

• 50:37Doug DeMuro?

  I don't buy automatic cars.

• 50:38Speaker 03

This is not for you. Don't buy automatic cars. Yeah. Uh huh.

• 50:41Speaker 04

I own one, admittedly, but it's a Mercedes.

• 50:43Speaker 03

Me too. We own the same number of automatics.

• 50:45Doug DeMuro?

  I own more manuals.

• 50:46Speaker 03

  I have more power.

• 50:47Doug DeMuro?

We only buy autos for daily drive.

• 50:49Speaker 04

  Yeah, that's it.

• 50:50Doug DeMuro?

And I've been daily on manual.

• 50:51Speaker 04

An F250, that, that one's the bottom.

• 50:53Doug DeMuro?

  That's an, that's an auto?

• 50:54Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 50:54Doug DeMuro?

  Ooh, two on the tree?

• 50:55Speaker 04

  I think it's a three-speed. It might be two.

• 50:58Speaker 03

It is. Man, you are not ready for this. I can't believe you didn't think about this.

• 51:02Speaker 04

I, I, I'm going to Arizona tomorrow, or I'll go listen to this, and I will go figure out, first of all, is there a key? Cause I'm not 100% sure of the key. Does it, how close to turning on? Is there a battery or anything? I, I don't know anything about this truck. I will find out.

• 51:16Doug DeMuro?

What do you think it's worth? 500?

• 51:18Speaker 04

It's, it's worth a lot of sentimentality to my very sentiments.

• 51:22Speaker 03

I'll tell you what, it will be when it, here's, you know why I didn't think about registration? Cause you're never gonna drive it. It's just gonna sit there in front of your house.

• 51:27Doug DeMuro?

It will get driven. Question dead serious. Don't you think a nice way to let the memory live on is we destroy, like Sean, if,

• 51:34Speaker 04

I really thought you were gonna say bury it like Hoovy would.

• 51:35Doug DeMuro?

No, it's too big. If, if given the opportunity, Sean would love to do something where we destroy his car.

• 51:40Speaker 04

  Absolutely.

• 51:40Doug DeMuro?

I know a guy who has a junkyard down in South.

• 51:42Speaker 04

  Absolutely not doing that.

• 51:44Doug DeMuro?

Okay, but, but imagine the memory, like, the memory is created in that moment, right?

• 51:50Doug DeMuro?

  Right?

• 51:51Speaker 03

I mean, yeah, if I get to shoot that thing with a 50 cal, it's great.

• 51:54Doug DeMuro?

We'd run over it. We'd run over.

• 51:55Speaker 03

It'd be hard to run over.

• 51:57Doug DeMuro?

You know what we do? It would be hard. You know what we do? We get one of those 07 MDXs, we get six of them, and we just keep trying to run over the F250 until we're good.

• 52:05Speaker 03

We borrow a mega cruiser and run over it.

• 52:06Doug DeMuro?

This is like a $10,000 video too. Nothing is expensive.

• 52:09Speaker 04

My late father-in-law Craig had a huge lifted 05 F250, could drive over this other one.

• 52:15Doug DeMuro?

You didn't get that car though?

• 52:16Speaker 04

Would have been pretty into shooting it.

• 52:18Doug DeMuro?

Who ended up getting the 05?

• 52:19Speaker 04

  Uh, his son.

• 52:20Doug DeMuro?

You got screwed. Did not want a 800 horsepower turbo diesel.

• 52:26Speaker 03

  You didn't want this either.

• 52:27Doug DeMuro?

I did. I'm excited about this. Uh, we gotta move on to our market report, which is, uh, which is sponsored, of course, by Kenan's Rent Tech.

• 52:35Speaker 04

Can it be sponsored by Cars and Bids?

• 52:36Doug DeMuro?

Oh, yeah. The market report is sponsored by Cars and Bids. Folks, if you want to buy a car, if you want to sell a car, if you want to think about a car, go to Cars and Bids. That's where your greatest cars are. Can you pull up that Supra? We gotta, we have a Supra.

• 52:48Speaker 03

  Nice.

• 52:48Doug DeMuro?

Look at this. This is a one owner. Did you know that?

• 52:51Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 52:51Doug DeMuro?

  This is a one.

• 52:52Speaker 04

  It's in the subtitle.

• 52:53Doug DeMuro?

Ignore the fact that it has a temporary license plate on it from issued last week. This is a one owner car. No, seriously, this is incredibly cool. 60,000 mile. This is a fixed roof coupe. Filippo knows what I'm talking about because he's in the Corvette community.

• 53:06Speaker 04

  That's right, C5.

• 53:07Doug DeMuro?

This is a fixed roof coupe. This is the real deal. Kenan, are you interested?

• 53:11Speaker 03

It is cool. It's nice to see one so stock.

• 53:13Doug DeMuro?

  So stock.

• 53:13Speaker 03

We get, I mean, the ones, we get some very heavily modified ones a minute or two. We get a lot of very stock, stock cared for ones as well.

• 53:20Doug DeMuro?

There are still them out there.

• 53:21Speaker 03

They are still around. I mean, this one lives in a neighborhood that looks like this, which I think is great.

• 53:26Doug DeMuro?

Let me ask you a question. Well, it's one owner. Dude bought it?

• 53:28Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 53:28Doug DeMuro?

Let me ask you, I mean, this is an expensive car in 1996.

• 53:31Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 53:32Doug DeMuro?

Let me ask you a question, Kenan. If you could have this or an NSX, what would you have?

• 53:35Speaker 03

  NSX.

• 53:35Doug DeMuro?

What about this or any of the other Japanese sports cars? Would you rather have an FD? Would you?

• 53:41Speaker 04

I'd rather have this than a 3000 GT.

• 53:43Doug DeMuro?

  Well, duh.

• 53:44Speaker 03

  Duh.

• 53:44Doug DeMuro?

  300ZX.

• 53:45Speaker 04

I will say, it was a midlet in Texas, uh, and that presumably was oil money at the time.

• 53:50Speaker 03

  She's thinking, yeah, she's, I'd rather.

• 53:53Doug DeMuro?

I would rather have this than an NSX.

• 53:54Speaker 03

Would you rather have this than a, well, I guess, I'd depend on which GT-R, any GT-R?

• 53:59Doug DeMuro?

Uh, I'd rather have an R34 GT-R. That is true. But left-hand drive converted.

• 54:03Speaker 04

The market would rather have a GT-R or an NSX.

• 54:06Doug DeMuro?

The market would not rather have an NSX.

• 54:07Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 54:08Speaker 03

  No.

• 54:09Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 54:09Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, no, I think he's right. If you had a 96 NSX with 60,000 miles, I think it sells for more than this car. A one owner, 96 NSX with 60,000 miles, it sells for more.

• 54:17Speaker 04

  It's in the same ballpark.

• 54:18Doug DeMuro?

But they're, they are in the, they're in the ballpark. And remember, in this, this car, Paul Walker says. Nice car. What does it cost or whatever?

• 54:27Speaker 03

  Yeah. What's the retail?

• 54:29Doug DeMuro?

What's the retail on one of those?

• 54:30Speaker 03

More than you can afford, pal.

• 54:33Speaker 03

My, how those, those two values.

• 54:34Doug DeMuro?

The irony, Filippo, of that is that the Supra is now worth more.

• 54:38Speaker 04

  I understand.

• 54:39Doug DeMuro?

So the Supra, even though he was told that it was more than you can afford, pal, is actually the more expensive.

• 54:44Speaker 04

  It took us 25 years.

• 54:45Speaker 03

Was that 35? Was it an F1? I don't remember.

• 54:47Doug DeMuro?

Of course it was an F1. They were shooting at Hollywood. You think that guy could drive on stick? Uh, okay. I want to talk Cybertruck first. Uh, I want to talk Cybertruck first. We had a Cybertruck sale, or maybe it was a no sale. I don't know. For $61,000. Folks, Cybertrucks are knocking, knocking, knocking on the 50s.

• 55:03Speaker 04

  Wow.

• 55:04Doug DeMuro?

I'm just putting it out there.

• 55:05Speaker 04

Other Cybertrucks have reached the 50s.

• 55:07Doug DeMuro?

I'm not saying it's a good deal. I'm not saying you should do it. I'm just saying, this is a market report. I am simply reporting the truth. The Cybertruck is knocking on the door of the 50s.

• 55:16Speaker 04

  How much is a Cybertruck?

• 55:17Doug DeMuro?

This is a year old, by the way.

• 55:18Speaker 04

Current Cybertruck offers from Tesla new.

• 55:21Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. Yeah. What do they offer?

• 55:23Speaker 04

  For a Cybertruck, $729 a month.

• 55:24Doug DeMuro?

  That's way too much.

• 55:26Speaker 03

  Way too much.

• 55:27Doug DeMuro?

  50s, folks.

• 55:28Speaker 03

  That's remarkable.

• 55:29Doug DeMuro?

They'll be there soon. The Beasts are still more. The Beasts are still like 80. They won't be for long. This is gonna be a 35 car in 18 months. I'm not, I'm not exaggerating.

• 55:39Speaker 04

  Incredibly capable 35,000 car.

• 55:42Doug DeMuro?

  I'm. Capable of what?

• 55:44Speaker 04

  Speed.

• 55:44Speaker 03

  Irritating.

• 55:45Speaker 04

Speed and turning in tight radiuses.

• 55:47Doug DeMuro?

This is gonna be 35 in 18 months. You mark my words. Call us up on the pod in December, in, in, in June or July of 27.

• 55:55Speaker 04

  Yep.

• 55:56Doug DeMuro?

  And let's see what Cybertruck.

• 55:57Speaker 03

Can you imagine the, the demographic that's gonna end up with these things? It's gonna be crazy.

• 56:01Doug DeMuro?

It's Hummer H2s. This is the Hummer H2 of the modern era.

• 56:03Speaker 03

Wow, that is such a great analogy.

• 56:05Doug DeMuro?

This is the Hummer H2. It is, it is very striking and sells to a certain person and then it depreciates like crazy and it loses its strikingness and its luster and its excitement. I mean, you see these now and you feel a little sorry for the people driving them, right?

• 56:17Speaker 03

  I mean.

• 56:17Doug DeMuro?

They were cool. They were cool for a year.

• 56:19Speaker 04

  They were not cool.

• 56:20Doug DeMuro?

  They were cool.

• 56:21Speaker 03

It was cool to see it initially. I have to say, I didn't like it.

• 56:23Doug DeMuro?

When they came out, there wasn't a person in the world who didn't text me like, I just saw some sort of angled truck. I don't know what it was. Holy crap.

• 56:29Speaker 04

  Notable and cool. Different.

• 56:30Doug DeMuro?

Oh, they were, God, what a contrarian. Refuses to admit what he.

• 56:34Speaker 03

I think that it was the first one I saw like I remember where I was the first time I saw it was like

• 56:40Doug DeMuro?

  Do you really?

• 56:40Speaker 03

Yeah, was that the balcony in my apartment complex?

• 56:43Doug DeMuro?

Kennedy assassination, nine eleven and the first

• 56:47Speaker 03

That's right, because I'm old enough to have seen

• 56:50Doug DeMuro?

Pull up the GT R, please.

• 56:51Speaker 04

Yeah, it sold GT, the R35 T

• 56:54Doug DeMuro?

  Folks.

• 56:54Speaker 04

  Spec for so much money.

• 56:56Doug DeMuro?

The T spec was a very special car at the very end, but this sold for a hundred and sixty three thousand dollars. And I just want to make a point here, GT Rs never got cheap. They never went down in value. They are still incredibly desirable. And there is still a huge community of people who absolutely love these cars and really, really, really are are buying them and spending real money on them.

• 57:15Speaker 04

  MSRP was one forty.

• 57:17Doug DeMuro?

  One forty.

• 57:17Speaker 04

And presumably you got this at or below MSRP.

• 57:20Doug DeMuro?

Yeah. So GT Rs and go back to type in R35 GT R.

• 57:26Speaker 04

  Or just R35.

• 57:27Doug DeMuro?

You what? We're gonna have regular Skylines VQ dude. I mean, these are still at oh nine for eighty. What was the sticker on that?

• 57:33Speaker 04

  Right, eighty.

• 57:34Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, yeah. But you get the point.

• 57:37Speaker 04

  So cheap early too.

• 57:38Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 57:39Speaker 03

That is amazing. Do you think it's because, you know, they all look almost exactly the same?

• 57:43Doug DeMuro?

I think, no, no, no. It's because the performance is incredible. They are unbelievably tunable. They have turned out to be pretty robust in terms of reliability. The early cars were a little bit less so, but but there's an enormous community around fixing any issues that come up. And they just didn't make all that many, even though the car was in production for sixteen years, they just didn't make all that many. And it's funny because we all idolize the R34. But in the end, this car will remain a tremendously desirable, exciting car for years, years, years to come.

• 58:14Speaker 04

  MSRP was sub eighty.

• 58:15Doug DeMuro?

Sub eighty, seventy seven, wasn't it?

• 58:17Speaker 04

Uh, yeah, for that year, it had gone up seven grand from oh eight to oh nine.

• 58:21Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 58:21Speaker 04

It was seventy, it was a seventy thousand dollar car when it came out.

• 58:23Doug DeMuro?

  Wow, wow.

• 58:25Speaker 04

Still is a seventy thousand dollar car for pretty much all of them.

• 58:27Doug DeMuro?

These cars remain tremendously desirable, tremendously popular, well supported. Look at that black edition sells for seventy four with forty three thousand miles.

• 58:36Speaker 04

  And performance.

• 58:36Doug DeMuro?

That person bought that car, dailyed it.

• 58:38Speaker 04

  Right.

• 58:39Doug DeMuro?

Essentially, uh, and still got real money out of it.

• 58:42Speaker 04

It is interesting to see which special edition. The market rewards that that Skyline Edition, which was just Bayside Blue and nothing else. Market isn't gonna go that much over sticker for that.

• 58:51Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, the market didn't hate that, though. Hundred and forty-three is still.

• 58:54Speaker 03

It's still a real number, yeah.

• 58:55Speaker 04

The T spec, though, seems like it's the, might end up being one of the desirable specs.

• 59:00Doug DeMuro?

I still, very rare I see a GT-R on the street, which shocks me.

• 59:03Speaker 04

  Yes.

• 59:03Doug DeMuro?

This is, to me, this is still an exotic car, and I have a suspicion the market will treat these like Supros and NSXs, where we saw them a lot in the day, in the period. In twenty years, we're gonna tell our kids, we used to see those just driving around. Like, you would think, you'd see, if you saw an NSX now, you'd be like, wow, like, someone's driving. If you saw a Mark IV now, you'd be like, I can't believe someone's just cruising around in that. In twenty years, we're gonna say that about these cars.

• 59:23Speaker 03

Two points on that. One is that I still, even I still don't feel like I ever saw them regularly. I'd never saw them. I mean, you see them occasionally, but it's quite rare. I've always noted it. Second thing is, because of cars and coffee and where we live, I think I see more R34 GT-Rs than I do R35s, which is really crazy.

• 59:39Doug DeMuro?

These are gonna age in a way that the market continues to view, not just the T spec, but the market will continue to view this car as special forever. It was just a lot of power, reliable power, tunable power, huge culture around it, very special car.

• 59:51Speaker 03

  Changed the game, for sure.

• 59:52Doug DeMuro?

If Fast and the Furious was made today, Paul Walker would be driving one of these.

• 59:55Speaker 04

I think he is in one of the later movies, too.

• 59:57Doug DeMuro?

  An R35?

• 59:58Speaker 04

Well, his brother, maybe. They made forty-eight thousand over the lifetime, globally.

• 1:00:03Doug DeMuro?

Globally, well, that's low. I mean, you.

• 1:00:05Speaker 03

It's low, given the period it's on.

• 1:00:06Speaker 04

I mean, for like a, a, a top-of-the-line-up car, halo car like that?

• 1:00:12Doug DeMuro?

They made twenty thousand original NSXs. Over a very similar length.

• 1:00:17Speaker 04

Two and a half times as many.

• 1:00:20Doug DeMuro?

And they made nineteen thousand second-gen NSXs.

• 1:00:22Speaker 04

I remember when, in about oh-eight, oh-nine, I lived in Madison, Wisconsin, and in like a normal neighborhood, there was a GT-R street parked. And like, at the time, it was a notable car, but it was also a seventy thousand dollar car. It wasn't that different from somebody buying a.

• 1:00:36Doug DeMuro?

  No, totally.

• 1:00:37Speaker 04

  Top-of-the-line whatever.

• 1:00:38Doug DeMuro?

And I still think to this day, it is sort of like that. It's notable, but you, oh, there's a GT-R, you're not taking a picture of it. In twenty years, you'll be taking a picture of it. It's gonna be special. It is special. Has anybody manual-swap GT-Rs? Is that a thing? I don't think people wanna do that. It's a really stout dual-clutch. It is a really stout dual-clutch. It handles a lot of power, like, a lot, a lot of. The early ones had some troubles, but it is a lot of power.

• 1:01:01Speaker 03

And so many of them are built for straight-line speed.

• 1:01:03Speaker 04

  Yeah, it does it well.

• 1:01:05Speaker 03

  Just, are numbers. They're numbered.

• 1:01:07Speaker 04

Have you ever wondered how much of your personal info is just out there online? Data brokers can legally collect and sell details like your name, your address, your phone number, even info about your relatives. And some of the most concerning are people's search sites, which compile those data and sell it to anyone with a credit card. That exposure can lead to scams, can lead to phishing, harassment, or even doxing. That's why I trust DeleteMe. It's a hands-free subscription service that removes your personal info from hundreds of data broker and people's search sites, helping reduce the risk of your data ending up in the wrong hands. I chose DeleteMe because they've been the leading experts in data removal for over 15 years. They use their own tech without outsourcing, and real privacy advisors are available if you need help.

• 1:01:50Speaker 04

For me personally, as someone with a public presence online, it was eye-opening to see exactly what data was out there. And now DeleteMe is constantly cleaning it up for me. You can get 20% off DeleteMe consumer plans when you go to joindeleteme.com/demuro and use promo code DEMURO at checkout. That's joindeleteme.com/demuro, code DEMURO.

• 1:02:13Doug DeMuro?

Two more things I want to discuss, three more things maybe, in terms of market reports. It's a longer market report today. The Megacruiser, can you pull up the Megacruiser? We sold a Mega.

• 1:02:22Speaker 04

  We love the Mega.

• 1:02:23Doug DeMuro?

Remember, the Land Cruiser cruises land. The Megacruiser cruises...

• 1:02:27Speaker 04

  Mega.

• 1:02:28Doug DeMuro?

Mega. We sold the Megacruiser for $115,000 in the United States. It was a civilian car up in Oregon, right-hand drive. Not a lot of these come up in sale. Bring the Trailer, which is a different auction platform, they had one, they had a high roof. I don't know if you saw this, that high roof civilian car, it really, really fell short of reserve, as I guess. It was somewhere in the 80s. It was not as nice as this. It was a more special one because it had like a higher roof, like all the seating. But the market does not love these cars like it did when we had our first one, that left-hand drive car that sold for over $300,000. Obviously, this is not a left-hand drive car. I think that would have helped the value.

• 1:03:04Speaker 04

Yeah, I think that has a major impact.

• 1:03:05Doug DeMuro?

But still, the Megacruiser, type in Megacruiser, just so we don't get the Ram Megacabs. The Megacruiser still does do pretty well. The market is still...

• 1:03:14Speaker 04

  Especially the civilian cars.

• 1:03:15Doug DeMuro?

The civilians are worth a ton more than the military cars.

• 1:03:19Speaker 04

  So cool.

• 1:03:20Doug DeMuro?

Even with that level of rap.

• 1:03:22Speaker 04

Why don't we own one as a group?

• 1:03:23Doug DeMuro?

You can't get tires. You know, let me tell you something. I'm interested.

• 1:03:27Speaker 04

  I'm not interested.

• 1:03:28Doug DeMuro?

If you find me a tire source... The, remember what the engine was used in the other Toyota?

• 1:03:34Speaker 04

  Yeah, bus.

• 1:03:34Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:03:35Doug DeMuro?

You don't know the name of the bus?

• 1:03:36Speaker 04

  No.

• 1:03:36Doug DeMuro?

  The coaster.

• 1:03:37Speaker 04

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:03:37Doug DeMuro?

You don't know your Toyotas. That's your problem.

• 1:03:39Speaker 04

That's my problem. One of my many problems.

• 1:03:41Doug DeMuro?

You don't know your Toyota rental car shuttles at the Tokyo airport.

• 1:03:44Speaker 04

Which I was on one, by the way.

• 1:03:46Doug DeMuro?

You were probably driving around in a mega cruiser, basically.

• 1:03:49Speaker 04

  Probably.

• 1:03:50Doug DeMuro?

Anyway, the mega cruiser cruises mega. I still think they're the coolest things in the world.

• 1:03:54Speaker 04

Since we were talking about bringing the trailer, um, our mega cruiser results beat theirs day in and day out.

• 1:03:59Doug DeMuro?

If you got a, folks, if you got a mega cruiser and you need to sell it, you come to Cars and Bids. We're your mega cruiser source. We have auctions seven. And I don't say we've sold seven because the, one of them was twice and a couple of them didn't sell. But if you want to sell your mega cruiser.

• 1:04:15Speaker 04

You will get more money on our site, just like you will for GTC four Lusso.

• 1:04:18Doug DeMuro?

Let's pull up that GTC four Lusso.

• 1:04:20Speaker 03

  Yeah, that was quite, yeah.

• 1:04:21Doug DeMuro?

  You see that result?

• 1:04:22Speaker 03

  Yes, I did.

• 1:04:22Doug DeMuro?

We had it. We, we've sold a lot of Ferraris now. We're, we're big Ferrari sellers. We're, we're basically as good as Ferrari of Hawaii.

• 1:04:29Speaker 04

  It's not better.

• 1:04:30Doug DeMuro?

And we have a GT four Lusso. Go back to the thing. What did it sell for? It sold for 246,000 United States dollars. This was a V12 Lusso. So this is like the dream.

• 1:04:38Speaker 04

You notice we didn't say GTC four Lusso V8 T or as they were called there?

• 1:04:42Speaker 03

  T, that's right.

• 1:04:43Doug DeMuro?

Is that what they were called? They were called T?

• 1:04:44Speaker 03

Yeah. And the only way, we, we talked about this. The only way to know that it was different is that on the passenger side, on the, on the glove box here where it says GT4C Lusso, it said GT4C Lusso T.

• 1:04:55Doug DeMuro?

  Really?

• 1:04:55Speaker 03

The only visual distinguishing thing between the two cars, you can't tell unless you hear it start. That's it.

• 1:05:00Doug DeMuro?

  Really?

• 1:05:00Speaker 03

Yep. They, I don't know why they did that. I think that, but I guess Ferrari, they, Ferrari didn't want to cheapen their models.

• 1:05:06Doug DeMuro?

Anyway, 246,000 United States dollars. Big result.

• 1:05:09Speaker 04

By the way, bring a trailer that, the day after this.

• 1:05:11Doug DeMuro?

Bring the trailer. I don't know.

• 1:05:13Speaker 04

  Apologies, bring the trailer.

• 1:05:14Doug DeMuro?

  Find the trailer.

• 1:05:15Speaker 04

Uh, sold an, an 8,000 mile 2018 GTC four Lusso. So one that should theoretically be.

• 1:05:20Doug DeMuro?

  A V12?

• 1:05:21Speaker 04

Yeah. Should theoretically be more desirable for 224. So notably lower than those results.

• 1:05:24Doug DeMuro?

We get, we get all the money. If you're, listen, if you're selling your V12 GTC four Lusso or your mega cruiser, we're making a pitch to you. Or a few other cars. People out there.

• 1:05:34Speaker 04

  Or similar car, like.

• 1:05:35Doug DeMuro?

Or like just a, any car. Oh, like an M3. Okay. So mega cruiser. There's 12 to 15 of you in the country. V12 GTC4 Lusso, there's 100 of you, or if you have any other car.

• 1:05:45Speaker 04

  Yeah, there's millions of you.

• 1:05:48Speaker 03

  Well sold, gentlemen, well sold.

• 1:05:50Doug DeMuro?

No, really, but if you got a mega, and if you have a manual Cayenne. The last car I wanted to talk about was a manual Cayenne. So, a couple of months ago, we had this green manual Cayenne sell on the website, and it sold for $125,000 in the United States dollars. And people were like, "That's the fakest thing I ever saw." It wasn't, it was real, it happened. Proving that, we sold one the other day for $70,000. Now, a lot of people are gonna say, "Wait a minute, Doug. If you sold one for $125,000, and then you sold one for $70,000, that seems like the 125 result is still inflated." But what you fail to understand is, the 70 result is also still inflated.

• 1:06:28Doug DeMuro?

In either scenario, this is a $25,000 car. But Porsche people are Porsche people, and they'll pay up. And that was the point that I made when the first one sold. And everybody was like, "This is money laundering, it's fake." Well, here's another massive result for one of these cars, proving that if there is a certain contingent of people after a certain contingent of car, they will pay all the money for it.

• 1:06:49Speaker 03

Right, and if you follow this contingent, we have another one.

• 1:06:52Doug DeMuro?

We have another Jet Green Live right this time. What's the mileage on this one?

• 1:06:55Speaker 03

  Uh, 88, too.

• 1:06:57Doug DeMuro?

Because if you have one of these, and you're seeing they're selling for $125,000 or $70,000, you're like, "I think I want to get one."

• 1:07:03Speaker 04

Also because the place where you might have to bring the trailer, it has not had the same level of results for these.

• 1:07:09Speaker 03

  I'm not surprised.

• 1:07:10Doug DeMuro?

We're really hitting Ring the Trailer here. We're the best place. If you have a manual green Cayenne, a mega cruiser, or a V12 GTC4 Lusso, there is no other place to sell it.

• 1:07:21Speaker 04

  Fact.

• 1:07:23Speaker 03

  We specialize.

• 1:07:24Doug DeMuro?

This is a pretty impressive car. Now, I'm thinking about getting into this one, because I feel like this is gonna sell for a little less.

• 1:07:29Speaker 04

  Right, 125 to 70.

• 1:07:31Doug DeMuro?

Okay, you start thinking about it, like, this is probably gonna be a good one.

• 1:07:34Speaker 04

Two data points, make a trend.

• 1:07:35Doug DeMuro?

  You don't get fooled again.

• 1:07:36Speaker 03

  You can't get fooled again.

• 1:07:37Doug DeMuro?

  Like in Tennessee.

• 1:07:38Speaker 03

Same in Tennessee, I think they have it in Texas, too.

• 1:07:41Doug DeMuro?

The second sale, the green one, was pretty impressive, $70,000. And it does prove that there's a lot of market for this. I will say, I was very charmed by the owner who posted it. Only a couple of comments, he didn't, he let the car stand on its own, which is fine. But he posted, the very first comment on the auction was, he went into the Porsche dealer in New York City, or New York State, in the Hamptons, I think. Here, yeah. "I went in the New York, in Southampton, and I was sitting in the car, realized it was a manual, and I asked the salesman, 'Is this real?' And he said, 'Yes.' Didn't like that one, he ordered one, jet green with an umber and cream leather interior. He ordered this car, new from the factory, and all these years later, it paid off." He said, "When I took ownership, he told me it was the last manual off the line, Leipzig." That wouldn't surprise me if it was true. It's probably never gonna be able to be proven,

• 1:08:24Doug DeMuro?

but it is a 14, which was the final model year of this car. Um, pretty cool.

• 1:08:28Speaker 03

  Very cool.

• 1:08:29Speaker 04

Yep. By the way, the owner, the person that bought the, the first jet green one, commented on that auction.

• 1:08:35Doug DeMuro?

  Really?

• 1:08:35Speaker 04

"All you dorks thought I overpaid."

• 1:08:38Doug DeMuro?

  I think-

• 1:08:38Speaker 04

  He's happy with his purchase.

• 1:08:39Doug DeMuro?

He should be happy with his purchase. Um, he got a slightly better spec car.

• 1:08:43Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:08:43Doug DeMuro?

This car is also very cool. The one that's come up, actually, each one has been successively a little bit worse. The first one was the best one.

• 1:08:49Speaker 04

You're the seller of the current one, don't worry.

• 1:08:51Doug DeMuro?

The third one, the current one has the highest mileage and the lowest, the lowest option content. I still think it's super cool.

• 1:08:56Speaker 04

  So cool.

• 1:08:57Doug DeMuro?

And these are very special cars, and I'm super into them. If you have a yellow one, and if you don't sell it on Cars and Bids, you are nothing.

• 1:09:05Speaker 04

  Doug will-

• 1:09:05Doug DeMuro?

  You are Filippo's Christmas sweater.

• 1:09:07Speaker 04

I will say, the one that's currently live has soft, ruffled seat centers.

• 1:09:11Doug DeMuro?

Go to see it, let's see it.

• 1:09:12Speaker 04

Uh, just look in the options.

• 1:09:14Doug DeMuro?

  Oh wow, it does.

• 1:09:15Speaker 03

  They are ruffled.

• 1:09:15Speaker 04

  What an option.

• 1:09:16Doug DeMuro?

Wow, Kenan, you ever ruffle your seat centers? Why is this-

• 1:09:19Speaker 04

You worked at Porsche, you were responsible for this.

• 1:09:21Doug DeMuro?

People did this stuff, dude, I don't know. What year is it? 14, I was not responsible for it. I left by then. I had quit to go start a website called Cars the Bids. Bids the Cars. Bring the, okay. We gotta move on to questions.

• 1:09:35Speaker 04

  You really do.

• 1:09:35Doug DeMuro?

Sean hates me. Sean's like, "Can't you just, can't you just advertise for your own business, please? It benefits you, why don't you just do it?"

• 1:09:44Speaker 04

That's what everybody listening is thinking too.

• 1:09:51Doug DeMuro?

Can you please just say what I wrote, please? All right, we got questions. The questions today this week are the... You'll see in a second.

• 1:09:59Speaker 04

  Whoa.

• 1:10:00Doug DeMuro?

The questions this week are perfect. If you want to ask us a question, you go to carsandbids.com, you click on the community tab. There'll be a post there that says, "Ask us questions." Please ask us questions. I am now scrolling through every single question, trying to find the best ones. I spent 45 minutes on this and found the best question. Some of them were deep, dude, deep. And the first one is definitely the best one.

• 1:10:18Speaker 04

  That's insane.

• 1:10:19Doug DeMuro?

Go to the questions, please. First question comes from Faisal Alumaid. He says, "Hello Doug, Kenan and Filippo." Here it is, pull up the picture. "I hope you're doing well, wanted to say hello and share some exciting news. As a long time viewer of the channel, I thought it'd be nice to let you know that I recently became the new owner of the Renault pickup concept car, which was sold this Sunday at the Renault factory outside Paris." And he says a little bit more, he's gonna take it to Dubai, so he says... Now, I will say, there's no proof he bought it. This is the, this is the picture from the auction court. Like, that doesn't mean that this dude actually bought it. He may have just posted that. Like, anybody could have gone in and taken this picture. We talked about this, the concept car auction last week. Renault sold a bunch of their concept cars, none of which were attractive or desirable. I also...

• 1:10:56Speaker 04

  Respectfully disagree.

• 1:10:58Doug DeMuro?

This one's had a 4 to 6,000 euro estimate and sold for 25,000 euros.

• 1:11:03Speaker 04

Yep. Wow. Well, 21,000 euros, 25,000 dollars.

• 1:11:06Doug DeMuro?

I can't speak to the exact amount.

• 1:11:08Speaker 04

  Looking it up right now.

• 1:11:09Doug DeMuro?

Radically higher than it should have been. However, I also would have paid that much. Kenan, do you have any regrets that we didn't end up with this car?

• 1:11:15Speaker 03

  Tons, loads.

• 1:11:17Doug DeMuro?

  Can I?

• 1:11:17Speaker 03

It would be cool, it's cool.

• 1:11:18Doug DeMuro?

  It'd be so cool.

• 1:11:19Speaker 04

  Looks like a bison.

• 1:11:19Doug DeMuro?

  It just is a bison.

• 1:11:20Speaker 03

  It just is a bison.

• 1:11:21Speaker 04

Can I share some other results from that auction? The Clio six-wheel pickup, 19,000 euro.

• 1:11:27Doug DeMuro?

  Way too much.

• 1:11:28Speaker 04

  Way too little.

• 1:11:30Speaker 03

What about the one with all the doors? I want to know that.

• 1:11:32Doug DeMuro?

  That sold for nothing.

• 1:11:33Speaker 04

Okay, good. The Kangoo breakup concept? Sold for 24,000.

• 1:11:37Doug DeMuro?

That was the other expensive one. Everything else kind of sold within the estimate, which was...

• 1:11:41Speaker 04

  Nothing.

• 1:11:42Doug DeMuro?

  Basically nothing.

• 1:11:42Speaker 04

  I gotta find that.

• 1:11:43Doug DeMuro?

Every car was estimated at like, the cars were like 4 to 6,000 euro and the scale models were like 1 to 2,000 euro. The difference between a car and a scale model at this auction was pretty minimal.

• 1:11:53Speaker 04

The one with all the doors, the Renault 21, that had all the doors and another car mounted on the trunk, sold for 1,445 euros.

• 1:12:00Doug DeMuro?

  Like I said.

• 1:12:02Speaker 03

What a value. You get all those doors and an extra car.

• 1:12:04Speaker 04

  I know.

• 1:12:04Doug DeMuro?

That is gonna go into a junkyard in France for parts. I promise you. That is not... An enthusiast did not buy that car and would not buy that car.

• 1:12:12Speaker 04

These are so... Why do we not live in France currently? Like actively live there to buy these?

• 1:12:17Doug DeMuro?

There are a hundred reasons. I could name you a hundred reasons.

• 1:12:19Speaker 04

The Renault Sport, the Spider prototype, which is the Sport Spider prototype. So for 23,000 euro...

• 1:12:24Doug DeMuro?

A friend of a friend purchased the Renault Alaska, the pickup truck.

• 1:12:28Speaker 04

  Really?

• 1:12:28Doug DeMuro?

And is going to try to import it to the US undershore display. So you don't have to live in Paris, in France, to drive these cars. You can have the best of all worlds. You can drive the cars and not live in France. It's kind of the two... No affronts, by the way.

• 1:12:42Speaker 03

  No affronts.

• 1:12:43Doug DeMuro?

To our French viewers out there.

• 1:12:44Speaker 04

  No, we love you.

• 1:12:45Doug DeMuro?

We love all seven of you in France. And I'll tell you something. If you live in France and if you have a mega cruiser, sell it on Cars and Beds.

• 1:12:52Speaker 04

You know, some of these sold for real money.

• 1:12:53Doug DeMuro?

  S'il vous plaît.

• 1:12:54Speaker 04

The F1 cars, one of them sold for about a million dollars.

• 1:12:56Doug DeMuro?

Well dude, it's an F1 car. It took Rubens Barrichello across the finish line in the 96 Phoenix Grand Prix with a Carriggi T strapped to the back.

• 1:13:05Speaker 04

Right. The most expensive was the 1997 Renault William FW19 Formula One car for 1.5 million.

• 1:13:13Speaker 03

  Yeah, it's a serious car.

• 1:13:14Doug DeMuro?

It's a serious car, 97, post Carriggi Tera, so who cares?

• 1:13:16Speaker 04

The most expensive, like, real car is a Renault Maxi 5 Turbo prototype for 252,000.

• 1:13:22Doug DeMuro?

Uh, next question from Unos Roadster. Hey Doug and friends. I guess you guys are the friends. I'm on Nick's on the pod, it's just Doug and the acquaintances.

• 1:13:29Speaker 04

  Agreed.

• 1:13:30Doug DeMuro?

Uh, the E60 M5 is lauded, lauded, appreciated for its V10 in a sedan. Why doesn't the C6 Audi RS6 get as much attention and has a more powerful V10? More reliable, same price? Totally agree. Nobody ever talks about that. BMW is like, oh BMW put a V10 in M5. Yeah, Audi did it in like 10 cars. They took the Lamborghini engine, which everybody's like, it's not the... But it is. They took the Lamborghini engine and they put it in an Audi S6, an S8, an RS6.

• 1:13:58Speaker 03

  You know why?

• 1:13:58Doug DeMuro?

  Why?

• 1:13:59Speaker 03

E60 got it with a manual. North America.

• 1:14:02Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, but mostly you couldn't. Mostly you couldn't.

• 1:14:05Speaker 03

  You could.

• 1:14:05Doug DeMuro?

  But mostly you.

• 1:14:06Speaker 03

  But people did.

• 1:14:07Speaker 04

Wait, wait, wait, wait. We can't say that it's lauded. Okay, sure. It's worth twice as much as a C5 R6 in that it's worth from seven.

• 1:14:14Doug DeMuro?

  Eight grand, sixteen grand.

• 1:14:15Speaker 04

Right. It's not like it's like free shit by the market.

• 1:14:17Doug DeMuro?

No, but people talk about the M5 like, oh my god, they put a V10 in the M5. But nobody ever talks about the fact that Audi did it in like a dozen cars and it was also in a Lamborghini.

• 1:14:25Speaker 03

Yeah, I think that's, no offense to the Audi, but I think the M5 badge is a little bit more historically notable and that is why it's appreciated.

• 1:14:33Doug DeMuro?

I also think the fact that the M5 was kind of spicier to own, to drive, to experience helped. Like, when I think of that R6, I think of like an Autobahn cruiser kind of. The M5 was like a peaky, unreliable, temperamental, crazy thing. In a way, the Audi just wasn't.

• 1:14:49Speaker 03

It just, yeah, it had more flair, something like that.

• 1:14:51Doug DeMuro?

The Audi almost hurts itself because it was relatively subtle. To me, I would rather have owned the Audi, but the Audi almost hurts itself because it was like better.

• 1:14:59Speaker 03

Right, and it just, yeah, I just dynamically, I think at the time also, it just wasn't.

• 1:15:04Doug DeMuro?

  I also.

• 1:15:04Speaker 03

  E60 chassis is amazing.

• 1:15:06Doug DeMuro?

That's true also. That is certainly true also. The E60 was dynamically a better car. Sequential manual and manual were better than any torque converter. That's, those are also.

• 1:15:15Speaker 04

Can I ask you a real question?

• 1:15:16Doug DeMuro?

Also, it was never sold in the US. It's important also to keep in mind, a lot of the enthusiasm for the E60 M5 comes out of the States because there was a stick and because there's a lot of following for that car. And we never did get that R6 in the States. We did get V10 Audis in the States, but they never had as much power as the M5.

• 1:15:29Speaker 03

  That's right.

• 1:15:30Speaker 04

Right. Do you think that it also helped BMW that it had a different gear celestial? The automatic M5 did not have the traditional Prandall gear celestial that the other E60s had.

• 1:15:39Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah, it was, it was.

• 1:15:40Speaker 04

The, the, the, the, the R6.

• 1:15:42Doug DeMuro?

  You bang that gear.

• 1:15:43Speaker 04

R6 had a ton of power, 450 horsepower, but like the normal gear shifter.

• 1:15:47Doug DeMuro?

No, I don't know if the physical gear shifter makes any difference at all.

• 1:15:50Speaker 04

Don't you think it kind of does?

• 1:15:51Doug DeMuro?

  I do not think that.

• 1:15:52Speaker 04

Sportier. It was like a sportier design.

• 1:15:54Speaker 03

This is what Felipe's focused on is the gear shifter. Now, to be clear, you could also get the standard E60 with SMG. You get the 530.

• 1:16:01Doug DeMuro?

  The 5?

• 1:16:02Speaker 04

  One of them.

• 1:16:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:16:03Doug DeMuro?

  Did anybody?

• 1:16:04Speaker 03

  Yes.

• 1:16:04Doug DeMuro?

  In the States.

• 1:16:05Speaker 03

  I've driven one.

• 1:16:06Doug DeMuro?

  It happened in the States.

• 1:16:06Speaker 03

  It was terrible. Yes.

• 1:16:07Doug DeMuro?

I remember they offered the E46 with that, but I didn't know they offered the E6.

• 1:16:10Speaker 03

They offered the E6. They have a tradition of doing weird transmissions like that in normal cars. Cause you get a dual clutch from the E9 M3 in the 335IS.

• 1:16:18Doug DeMuro?

  IS, yeah.

• 1:16:19Speaker 03

No idea why. You could, but yes.

• 1:16:20Doug DeMuro?

Well, that was the cool thing about that car.

• 1:16:22Speaker 03

  The E, yeah.

• 1:16:23Doug DeMuro?

Even that it had 335IS badges on the fender.

• 1:16:26Speaker 03

That's right. And those unusual wheels. But like, but the, yes, you could get SMG. Maybe it was even in the 550, you could get SMG, but very uncommon for obvious reasons.

• 1:16:34Doug DeMuro?

  I think it helped.

• 1:16:35Speaker 03

  Anyway.

• 1:16:35Doug DeMuro?

Uh, next question from StumbledCRT1. Hey Doug, you've stated before that you save the really good videos for Doug's December for higher ad revenue. That's now, folks.

• 1:16:43Speaker 03

  Right now.

• 1:16:45Doug DeMuro?

  Watch the videos.

• 1:16:46Speaker 04

Like, like watch them like in December, please.

• 1:16:48Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, watch them in December. If you, if you're watching in January, I don't need those views.

• 1:16:51Speaker 04

  I don't need that.

• 1:16:54Speaker 04

  We're joking.

• 1:16:56Doug DeMuro?

Uh, just curious how long you have sat on a Doug's Dougcember video? Um, like I film them way before and then kind of try to build out a good month. It's really mid, mid-November to the end of December because the ad rates start to get high late November, Black Friday, et cetera, when people are starting to spend money. Uh, I've sat on them for a long time, but never insane. Usually the car owner is like, yo, man, you posting this? Like, what's going on here? And, and so I eventually kind of am like, oh, sorry, I'll put it up. And then I do. But I think probably I've sat on them for six months. I got no problem with them.

• 1:17:27Speaker 04

Can we talk about two big errors?

• 1:17:29Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah, what you got?

• 1:17:29Speaker 04

All right. Look up Doug's Ford F650 video, which went up January 3rd years ago.

• 1:17:35Speaker 03

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:17:36Doug DeMuro?

  Went up December 26th.

• 1:17:37Speaker 04

Did it? I thought, I thought it was later than that.

• 1:17:39Doug DeMuro?

No. Uh, that video was the greatest decision. Oh, Doug.

• 1:17:43Speaker 03

  Sometimes it's hard to type.

• 1:17:45Speaker 04

What a good, that, that video, by the way, still delivers.

• 1:17:47Speaker 03

  Seventeen million views.

• 1:17:50Speaker 04

The second big, big mistake, I seem to recall years ago at this point, you filmed a Saturn S Series and SL1.

• 1:17:57Doug DeMuro?

  You're bringing this up?

• 1:17:58Speaker 04

I'm bringing it up. We need to talk about it finally. Hey.

• 1:18:01Doug DeMuro?

  Ken's like, where is it?

• 1:18:02Speaker 03

  I, yeah.

• 1:18:03Doug DeMuro?

Where is it? Why? Can we give it a second?

• 1:18:05Speaker 03

I come out from behind it.

• 1:18:06Speaker 04

When's the, when's that video coming out, Doug?

• 1:18:09Doug DeMuro?

I filmed a set, alright, let me tell you what happened. I'm gonna explain it. Everybody asked me about this summer, I'm just gonna explain it.

• 1:18:14Speaker 04

  There is no video.

• 1:18:15Doug DeMuro?

Tell me that much. I'm gonna explain it, here's what happened, alright. I, many years ago, typed in Doug DeMuro 430 Scuderia. Many years ago, I filmed a video, a fellow, I went up, I think he was in Orange County, of a 430 Scoot, and it was this one. And it was, we sold it on the site, and it was an awesome car, and the dude was super nice, and he said, "Hey man, by the way, if you wanna come up and film my 430 Scoot, that's great, but I also have an original Saturn SL you can film." And I was like, "Okay." So, I filmed the 430 Scoot, it went up a few weeks later, sold it on the site, like, normal, and I was also like, "Why not film the Saturn SL too?" So I filmed the Saturn SL also. It was that one. I filmed the Saturn SL also, and it's just never gone up. When was this? This was the end of '22? So I've been sitting on that video for three and a half years.

• 1:19:30Doug DeMuro?

Some of us love the Saturn SL. I'll tell you this, you know, when I go away for the summer, I like put, build up a lot of videos beforehand, so I don't film over the summer. This summer, that video made it on the schedule. And I even recorded a voiceover for it for the end, it made it on the schedule, but then it got pushed.

• 1:19:45Speaker 04

I love the first gen Saturn SL.

• 1:19:47Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, it's a good video. It's a good video. It's a shame the video hasn't come out. Uh, anyway.

• 1:19:53Speaker 04

It's a good car. Love the Saturn SL.

• 1:19:56Speaker 03

Do you feel like, because you haven't released it now, you're just like obligated to hold on to it?

• 1:20:00Doug DeMuro?

It's become kind of a meme.

• 1:20:01Speaker 04

  Yeah.

• 1:20:03Speaker 04

  Like the F50.

• 1:20:03Doug DeMuro?

That entire question was just for diehard Doug fans.

• 1:20:06Speaker 04

  You're welcome.

• 1:20:08Doug DeMuro?

Because I've teased it here and there. It's shown up in like teaser shots.

• 1:20:11Speaker 04

There was an Instagram post in 2022.

• 1:20:12Doug DeMuro?

  That's right.

• 1:20:13Speaker 04

  Still think about that post?

• 1:20:14Doug DeMuro?

Next question from Ian J. Doug, I watched the smoking tire pod you were on and I heard you and Matt mention forever cars. Are any of your supercars forever cars? You willing to replace those cars in the future or sell them without replacing them? I want to be really clear on this. I answer this question every single time it comes up in the same way and I want to be really clear. None of my cars are forever cars. They will all someday be sold. And I know that when I sell the Carrera GT, I know someday people are gonna be like, you said you'd never sell it. And I have never said that. And I do not believe that. I am not a collector. I do not want to accumulate things in forever. They will all someday be sold. It may be a long time. It may be 10 years, maybe 20 years. There is no such thing in my life as a forever car. At some point, I will no longer get the pleasure out of driving it. I'll be old like

• 1:20:55Doug DeMuro?

Felipe was mentally. And I will no longer want to use these cars. There is no forever car in my world. They will all go eventually. Yes, even the Carrera GT, which I love so much and have such a history, someday it will sell. So when I sell it and you see all the comments, you said you'd never sell. Just remember I'm saying here that I will. And I've always maintained this position. Have I ever said anything different?

• 1:21:17Speaker 04

No. Are you worried that like Hoovy, you'll remember that you owe a tax bill? Like April 14th and then sell them in a hurry?

• 1:21:25Doug DeMuro?

No. I'm a W2 employee, just as you are.

• 1:21:28Speaker 03

If you had to put money on which one you keep the longest? Totality.

• 1:21:33Doug DeMuro?

  I honestly don't know.

• 1:21:34Speaker 03

  I think it's the one that's behind.

• 1:21:36Doug DeMuro?

  I vacillate.

• 1:21:37Speaker 03

  You do? Yes, you do.

• 1:21:39Doug DeMuro?

The Carrera GT, I really would like to own forever. But I have a suspicion that one day it will be simply too valuable for me to keep. I will, I am not as wealthy as a lot of my Carrera GT compatriots. And like a lot of McLaren F1 owners are doing right now, the car they bought for $4 million is suddenly worth $30 million. Their net worth is $50 million and they're sitting here thinking, this car is...

• 1:22:03Speaker 03

  Yeah, I get it.

• 1:22:04Doug DeMuro?

Like, this is insane. Like, I need to unload this thing. And I wouldn't be entirely surprised if that car, the Carrera GT, if that car bec- I don't think this is ever gonna really appreciate crazily.

• 1:22:13Speaker 03

  I don't either.

• 1:22:14Doug DeMuro?

If the Carrera GT ends up at three, four, five million, like the F-50, etc. At some point, I will no longer enjoy using it, and it will make- I would just rather have the money. I have a suspicion. And in the memories, I've already put 5,000 miles on the Carrera GT. I will probably put another 10,000 on, 15, I don't know. And I will always be able to say, hey, I had this car, it was really cool. But at some dollar level, I just can no longer justify it. It simply loses the main thing that attracted me to it, which is the enjoyment factor.

• 1:22:41Speaker 03

  Yep.

• 1:22:41Doug DeMuro?

I have a suspicion that one goes first.

• 1:22:43Speaker 03

You have had the 4GT for seven years of this one?

• 1:22:46Doug DeMuro?

Seven and a half years in the 4GT.

• 1:22:47Speaker 03

Got an early start. Too bad it's gonna be gone soon.

• 1:22:49Doug DeMuro?

  You think it's gone?

• 1:22:50Speaker 03

Well, I've seen you talk about the 993.

• 1:22:52Doug DeMuro?

  I know. I'm worried.

• 1:22:54Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:22:55Doug DeMuro?

I haven't even considered selling the 4GT, though. It's not even, like, been thought of.

• 1:22:58Speaker 03

  Hmm.

• 1:22:59Doug DeMuro?

Yet. 4GT is- my cost basis is zero. It's incredibly reliable, and it's on an upswing. Like, there's no reason to sell it. It doesn't- and we have endless space. Like, there's literally no reason to get rid of it.

• 1:23:09Speaker 03

And like you talked about, one of the big reasons you have the 993 is so your kids can ride around in it. But those rear seats are small, and they will outgrow those seats.

• 1:23:16Doug DeMuro?

And someday, they'll be able to ride in the 4GT.

• 1:23:18Speaker 03

Ride in the big cars, yeah.

• 1:23:19Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:23:19Speaker 03

And I think then, yes, hold the 4GT for a while.

• 1:23:22Doug DeMuro?

No, 4GT definitely is a hold. I'm gonna take it to Cars and Coffee.

• 1:23:26Speaker 03

Also, it's your most powerful car?

• 1:23:27Doug DeMuro?

Uh, yeah, it is. It's definitely the scariest. Uh, next question from Nick, underscore Nick, not the regular Nick, the underscore Nick. Hello, Doug. You've expressed interest in the new G-Wagon Cabriolet for some time now. You also said on last week's pod you were seriously considering buying it. My question is, do you really wanna drive across country in that thing? No. I've decided I'm not gonna do it. It's just- I've been thinking about who's gonna end up in that car, and it's just not me. It's just not me.

• 1:23:52Speaker 03

  Wow.

• 1:23:52Doug DeMuro?

I'm gonna keep the old one. Hopefully, people will see it as kind of cool and vintage. I have a suspicion that when I'm driving around on the old one and the new one comes out, people are gonna be like, oh, there's the G- you know, like, like.

• 1:24:03Speaker 03

  Yeah.

• 1:24:04Doug DeMuro?

But I just, I, I, you're right, underscore Nick, I cannot, it's just not me. That car is not me. It just isn't. I just know the level of Real Housewife that's gonna own the convertible G-Wagon and I just cannot participate. I'm out. I mean, you heard it here first. Next question from two shirts. Love you guys. Thank you. Kenan?

• 1:24:23Speaker 03

  Thank you.

• 1:24:24Doug DeMuro?

  Oh, how sweet.

• 1:24:24Speaker 03

I only have one shirt today.

• 1:24:26Doug DeMuro?

Have you ever considered, you only find cars so exhilarating because you aren't into motorcycles, would you be willing, uh, open to learn to ride?

• 1:24:32Speaker 04

No, I know how to ride.

• 1:24:33Doug DeMuro?

  You ride bikes sometimes?

• 1:24:35Speaker 03

  Bicycles?

• 1:24:36Speaker 04

No, you got a motorcycle license? I don't, I don't have a motorcycle license. That has not historically stopped me on private roads.

• 1:24:41Doug DeMuro?

Private roads, yeah, yeah, is that right?

• 1:24:45Speaker 03

Uh, I like bikes. I like, I, I don't know much about them. My grandfather has, uh, a 1931 Indian 101B Scout, which is a great pre-war bike. Uh, he's had it since he was like 16. He's 96, still have it in the family. My cousin finished a restoration on it. I've coasted it down the driveway once. I've never ridden it. I would like to, but, uh, you know, I like those kind of bikes, but in California, I'm just too afraid to use a motorcycle. It's just too dangerous. Lane splitting is crazy.

• 1:25:11Doug DeMuro?

In Nebraska, he's like, I'm all over it.

• 1:25:13Speaker 03

Yeah, I got wide open roads here. I, I don't know. I just, motorcycles aren't, I understand the appeal of a motorcycle. I'm too afraid to get involved with that.

Also know that except for Kenan's SL65, we're not like going after speed. That's not our like style of driving. If we were, we would all own Huracan that are twin turbocharged or EVs or whatever, right? Like that is not what we're going, now EVs, five years ago, Huracans.

• 1:25:36Doug DeMuro?

I think he would argue though, that it's still super fun.

• 1:25:40Speaker 04

Yeah, it is. It is super fun.

• 1:25:41Speaker 03

  Experience of being exposed to.

• 1:25:43Doug DeMuro?

My, my argument is a safety one. I, ever since I had kids, I've stopped doing a lot of stuff and, uh, I have zero interest in riding a motor, literally zero interest riding a motorcycle for that reason alone, even if I thought it was really cool.

• 1:25:53Speaker 03

What stuff have you stopped doing? You're not doing, you're not tight rope walking anymore?

• 1:25:56Doug DeMuro?

I sold that yellow truck. I, you should see the stuff. I, I like, don't take any risks anymore. I just, I, my children should, should, should have a father. And motorcycles are scary. They're, they're legitimately dangerous and all the motorcycle people in the world would be like, they're not that dangerous. And then some of them die.

• 1:26:10Speaker 03

Yeah, well, yeah, exactly. They're all around. argue anymore.

• 1:26:13Doug DeMuro?

I just don't, I just don't think that there's a reason to take the risk. I, I, there's, there's too much to lose. I, I'm not willing to do it. No matter how fun they are, and I'm sure they are fun, but I'm at a stage in my life where fun and risk have, have kind of swapped and, and it's not really worth, like, I, I don't find the, it, it could be the funnest thing in the world and to me it isn't worth the risk anymore. There probably was a time where I, where I maybe should have pursued that, uh, but I didn't. And, um.

• 1:26:39Speaker 03

Well, so your frame, like, it'd be odd to see you on a motorcycle.

• 1:26:42Doug DeMuro?

Filippo and I are Moto Guzzi enthusiasts.

• 1:26:44Speaker 04

We are. My father had one.

• 1:26:46Doug DeMuro?

  Of course.

• 1:26:47Speaker 04

  Much.

• 1:26:47Doug DeMuro?

All right. Now, two more. We're doing two more. We're doing two more. We're doing two more. We're doing two more, two more, two more, two more. From Mazzy Meister, Doug and friends, I have a question about the Sequoia. If Toyota had sold the GR Sport 300 Series Land Cruiser in the US, even with the tariffs, you'd bought it? Yes. Without even the slightest question, I undoubtedly, period, would have bought that car. I wouldn't have bought the GR Sport because I think it's heinous, but I would have bought whatever the most off-road-y version of the Land Cruiser is. Period.

• 1:27:12Speaker 03

LX 700 H Overtrail, do you own one?

• 1:27:15Doug DeMuro?

There wasn't that option when I bought the Sequoia, but there is now a 300 Series and I'm kind of off it. I, I've driven the Sequoia more and more and I'm like into the Sequoia again. The Sequoia is the Land Cruiser of the modern era.

• 1:27:26Speaker 04

The LX 600 existed when you bought the Land Cruiser.

• 1:27:28Doug DeMuro?

Yeah, but it was a stupid hybrid and there was no off-road version. Now it's real. Now there's like a good hybrid and there is an off-road version. And it has, it has crawl control. And, and Nobby tires.

• 1:27:43Doug DeMuro?

Final question, and this one is more for Kenan. From Liam Sell, I was glad to hear you talk about the Aston Martin Vanquish as a Gato shooting break on the Smoking Tire Podcast. You want to pull it up?

• 1:27:54Doug DeMuro?

  You know this car?

• 1:27:55Speaker 04

  Of course.

• 1:27:55Doug DeMuro?

  You do not.

• 1:27:56Speaker 04

  I absolutely do.

• 1:27:57Doug DeMuro?

You've never seen anything like this.

• 1:27:58Speaker 04

  I know everything hatchback related.

• 1:28:02Speaker 03

  Everything?

• 1:28:03Speaker 04

  Everything.

• 1:28:03Speaker 03

What do you know about the A12 Confessioner?

• 1:28:05Doug DeMuro?

I watched your review of it years ago and it's been on my list of dream cars ever since, mine too. Uh, I always thought it was completely unobtainable, but as you pointed out, they're already selling for half, less than half of their original MSRP. What do you think their price floor is and how much do you think they're worth? I'll tell you this. I, they were 900 new, they're selling for 400. I don't ever have any interest in buying an automatic as a fun car, like zero interest in it. Cause if I want to have fun, I want to go out and have a whole experience. Yep. There's about three exceptions to that, and this is one of them. If this car got into a price point, I think it's just so cool. Zagato did a station wagon of a V12 Aston Martin. It makes no sense. It's an M coupe, but done by Zagato and Aston Martin with a V12. It's absurd.

• 1:28:48Speaker 03

  How about the GTC4 Lusso?

• 1:28:50Doug DeMuro?

Right, but twice the price. But this is, there's only 100 of these in the world, and it's a Zagato special edition. There's probably only 20 in the States.

• 1:28:56Speaker 03

  I agree, it's a very special car.

• 1:28:56Doug DeMuro?

It's cool as hell. 400 is not my number though, but if I could, if I could be interested in one of the, I would talk about one of these at about the 993 Turbo's number, 225, 250. I would talk about it for sure.

• 1:29:07Speaker 03

I wouldn't be surprised if it gets there.

• 1:29:09Doug DeMuro?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:10Speaker 03

  You know?

• 1:29:10Doug DeMuro?

If I could get a 177 square steering wheel in it?

• 1:29:12Speaker 03

You get that, um, yes. It came in the Vanquish anyway.

• 1:29:16Doug DeMuro?

  As an option.

• 1:29:17Speaker 03

No, I think it was standard.

• 1:29:19Doug DeMuro?

I wouldn't want to deviate from the build.

• 1:29:21Speaker 03

  I'm, I'm pretty confident.

• 1:29:23Doug DeMuro?

This is a historical car, Filippo.

• 1:29:26Speaker 04

  Historical.

• 1:29:27Speaker 03

  I'm pretty confident.

• 1:29:28Doug DeMuro?

Historical and it's, look at that steering, it's square, Filippo, it's square!

• 1:29:32Speaker 03

Are you sure that was, that's the standard steering?

• 1:29:34Doug DeMuro?

I know what you're sitting there thinking. It isn't square, but I'm telling you, man, when you use it, it is square.

• 1:29:39Speaker 03

  It's square.

• 1:29:40Doug DeMuro?

It looks like a circle, but it's deceptive. That's how they get you.

• 1:29:43Speaker 03

It's a square with round edges.

• 1:29:45Speaker 04

  Like a Peugeot 208.

• 1:29:47Doug DeMuro?

  Sure.

• 1:29:48Speaker 03

Excuse me? A Peugeot, is that what he?

• 1:29:51Doug DeMuro?

  Peugeot.

• 1:29:52Speaker 04

  I said that very obviously.

• 1:29:53Doug DeMuro?

  The old Peugeot 208.

• 1:29:54Speaker 04

I'll agree, I said that obviously.

• 1:29:55Doug DeMuro?

Filippo, do you have any final thoughts for us?

• 1:29:56Speaker 04

Um, uh, come sell your car on Cars and Bids.

• 1:30:00Doug DeMuro?

Cars and Bids! It's the greatest website. If you have a mega cruiser, or a Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake, I'll promise you, if you have a Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake, we'll get you every bit of what it's worth. $316,000.

• 1:30:13Speaker 03

Cars the Bids, sell it there.

• 1:30:15Doug DeMuro?

Uh, and, uh, that's that. Goodbye is one of our finest, not our finest.

• 1:30:20Speaker 04

  Mm, close.

• 1:30:21Doug DeMuro?

There was that great Whistlin Diesel Montana one. That's great. Go watch that one.

• 1:30:24Speaker 03

  Yeah, pretty good.

• 1:30:25Doug DeMuro?

Uh, and have a good Doug Sumner, everybody. Goodbye!

• 1:30:27Speaker 03

  Goodbye.

• 1:30:31Doug DeMuro?

  Don't clap!
