Atsuko Okatsuka

This week on Whiskey Ginger, Andrew Santino is joined by the one-of-a-kind Atsuko Okatsuka — comedian, actress, and viral sensation — for a wild ride through her unique upbringing, her love of awkwardness, and how she turned trauma into triumph through comedy. They talk about growing up undocumented, how her “toilet paper dance” went viral during the pandemic, her hilarious takes on Asian-American identity, and how comedy saved her life. It’s heartfelt, weird, and classic Atsuko. 🧠 Subscribe for new episodes every Friday! 🍊 Follow Santino on IG: @cheetosantino 🎙️ Check Out Atsuko's New Special: Father on Hulu! #AtsukoOkatsuka #WhiskeyGinger #AndrewSantino #ComedyPodcast #StandupComedy #AsianAmericanVoices #ToiletPaperDance #WhiskeyGingerPodcast #ComedianLife #FunnyPodcast ========================================================= Sponsor Whiskey Ginger: https://public.liveread.io/media-kit/whiskeyginger SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS LIGHTSTRIKE HARD REFRESHER AN EXCELLENT SOURCE OF 5% ALCOHOL https://drinklightstrike.com! • 0:41Speaker 01

In here, we pour whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey.

• 0:47Speaker 02

Oh, that creature in the ginger beard!

• 0:49Speaker 03

  Sturdy and ginger.

• 0:50Speaker 04

Like vampires, the ginger gene is a curse.

• 0:53Speaker 05

Gingers are beautiful. You owe me $5 for the whiskey and $75 for the horse.

• 0:58Speaker 03

Gingers, oh hell no. This whiskey is excellent.

• 1:02Speaker 02

  Ginger, I like gingers.

• 1:05Andrew Santino?

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Whiskey Ginger. My guest today is one of my favorite people on earth to say that from. I guess by the name once again, today, it's Atsuko Okatsuka.

• 1:13Speaker 06

  Yay!

• 1:14Andrew Santino?

  Did I do that right?

• 1:15Speaker 06

  You crushed it.

• 1:15Andrew Santino?

  That sounds good, doesn't it?

• 1:17Speaker 06

Did it help for me to go? It's like Irish, it's like "Oh Katsuka" with a apostrophe.

• 1:22Andrew Santino?

But it's smoother when you say it with an Asian accent, it goes "Oh Katsuka." And in Irish, it's "Oh Katsuka."

• 1:28Speaker 06

Yeah, is that how you would do it?

• 1:29Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, "Salivan Okatsuka."

• 1:30Speaker 06

  "O'Malley."

• 1:30Andrew Santino?

  "O'Malley Okatsuka," yeah.

• 1:32Speaker 06

  "O'Flanagan?"

• 1:33Andrew Santino?

"O'Flanagan." This is almost like Irish, Irish Asian.

• 1:37Speaker 06

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:37Andrew Santino?

  "Oh Katsuka!"

• 1:38Speaker 06

  We're kindred spirits.

• 1:39Andrew Santino?

We really are. We talked about this a little bit before we started. And I will say, here's why. One, we push the pain down. Push it away. Don't talk about it.

• 1:47Speaker 06

And we sing it, we sing it. We sing the pain.

• 1:50Andrew Santino?

Are there a lot of pain songs, growing up, when you were a kid?

• 1:52Speaker 06

You wouldn't know it. It could be any song, it could be Wrecking Ball. My father would be singing it and you'd go, "Oh, those are..." Those are sad tears, actually. It's not him going, "I came in like..." You know, he's crying. You don't cry during Wrecking Ball.

• 2:07Andrew Santino?

  I do, every time.

• 2:08Speaker 06

  You do?

• 2:08Andrew Santino?

  What song makes you cry?

• 2:09Speaker 06

  Because there's suppression, there's sadness.

• 2:11Andrew Santino?

What song makes you cry that surprises it makes you cry?

• 2:14Speaker 06

Oh, oh, I mean, for me, it's actual sad songs.

• 2:17Andrew Santino?

  Oh, really sad songs?

• 2:19Speaker 06

Do you know the song that goes like, "If the world is ending, you'd come over, right?"

• 2:22Andrew Santino?

  No.

• 2:23Speaker 06

"You'd come over and you'd spend the night..." It's literally about the last day on Earth, and it's Jillian Michaels. So like, yeah, it's, for me, it's actual sad songs. I don't get surprised. How about you? You surprise yourself?

• 2:33Andrew Santino?

Yeah, I'll cry to a song that I thought I couldn't cry to. You know what it is? It's usually because it's nostalgia. There's a song, um, there's a song called, this is so corny, there's a song called "In the Meantime" by a band called Spacehog.

• 2:49Speaker 06

Oh, it's a fun song? Happy song?

• 2:51Andrew Santino?

  It is.

• 2:52Speaker 06

  And then you cry?

• 2:53Andrew Santino?

It just reminds me of a time, so it makes me cry.

• 2:56Speaker 06

  Cause your childhood...

• 2:57Andrew Santino?

Or Pearl Jam's "Better Man." That one makes me cry every time.

• 2:59Speaker 06

  Wow.

• 3:00Andrew Santino?

Pearl Jam's "Better Man." Can't find a better man.

• 3:05Andrew Santino?

  Can't find a better man.

• 3:08Speaker 06

  Sing it! Oh my god.

• 3:09Andrew Santino?

I would sing. If my dad yelled at me, I'd go cry in my room and put on Pearl Jam. A hundred percent.

• 3:13Speaker 06

  Wow, so the memories...

• 3:15Andrew Santino?

Cause when he would yell, he would yell for... My dad was, his yell was a good dad yell. Did you have a, did your dad have a good yell?

• 3:21Speaker 06

  He never yelled. No, no.

• 3:22Andrew Santino?

  Really?

• 3:23Speaker 06

He's just only, um, he sings, he sings and cries, so that's the closest to like, you know, hearing him kinda yelly.

• 3:30Andrew Santino?

  You never got disciplined?

• 3:31Speaker 06

"I came in like a wreck..." That's yelly. That's him yelling. That's my dad.

• 3:35Andrew Santino?

Were you just such a good kid, you never got disciplined?

• 3:37Speaker 06

I just, oh, well, I didn't grow up with my dad, so I rarely saw him. So a little different, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know who you are when you, well, you know, in a version, because you say, you're crying to these songs that are like upbeat and fun, but you know, it reminds you of your childhood, is Chris Pratt's character in Guardians of the Galaxy. You know how he loves these songs?

• 3:57Andrew Santino?

  That's right.

• 3:57Speaker 06

Right? It's because he was taken from Earth.

• 4:01Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, he was removed.

• 4:02Speaker 06

  You're him.

• 4:03Andrew Santino?

I am him. I wish I had Chris Pratt's bank account, I'll tell you that. He's doing pretty well.

• 4:07Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 4:07Andrew Santino?

  He's doing pretty well.

• 4:08Speaker 06

Well, there can't be two, cause then you'd be forgettable.

• 4:11Andrew Santino?

  That's exactly right.

• 4:12Speaker 06

  Wow.

• 4:12Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 4:13Speaker 06

  There's only one Andrew Santino?

• 4:14Andrew Santino?

There's only one, and there only will be one, although however...

• 4:17Speaker 06

And he's like Christian. You guys are different.

• 4:20Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, I'm not Christian.

• 4:22Speaker 06

Well, I don't know. Are you?

• 4:23Andrew Santino?

No, I don't think so. I don't think so. Not anymore.

• 4:25Speaker 06

It's not like the first thing I think of. You know, when I think of him, it's kind of the first thing now because I guess I was surprised.

• 4:31Andrew Santino?

  Did you grow up religious?

• 4:33Speaker 06

Once I got to the States, yeah. I went to church. That's how they get the immigrants. Hey, you want friends, right? Do you want friends? We're like, yes. We speak your language. You don't speak English yet. You want free food?

• 4:46Andrew Santino?

You guys love free food. There's something about immigrants and free food, man. There's a sign outside on, right here in the valley. There's a little food hut. That just says, "Free food for immigrants."

• 4:55Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 4:55Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 4:56Speaker 06

Is that right? That's a trap. By the way, that is a trap. Do not go. What do you mean?

• 5:00Andrew Santino?

That's not ice. It's definitely not ice.

• 5:03Speaker 06

It's just oath keeper volunteers being like, yes, there's food, but you must go in here first.

• 5:08Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, come on in.

• 5:09Speaker 06

It's like, uh, it's a prison cell. Come in here. Come.

• 5:12Andrew Santino?

  Sit, stay.

• 5:13Speaker 06

  Yes.

• 5:13Andrew Santino?

  Click, click, click.

• 5:14Speaker 06

  I have the keys.

• 5:15Andrew Santino?

  That's it.

• 5:15Speaker 06

But food will be here soon.

• 5:17Andrew Santino?

  Soon?

• 5:17Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 5:18Andrew Santino?

Yeah, we'll get it there soon.

• 5:19Speaker 06

That is a trap of a sign.

• 5:20Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, it's pretty bad.

• 5:21Speaker 06

You're telling me that's an actual sign?

• 5:22Andrew Santino?

No, no, I made it up. No, I totally made it up.

• 5:24Speaker 06

See, even the churches don't do the sign, because that would sound like a trap. You would, no one would go. It's a word of mouth thing.

• 5:29Andrew Santino?

Yeah, the church has sold, like, a lot of times you'll go to, uh, if you go to the islands, right? If you go to the, any Pacific island chain, a lot of times there's Mormonism. They, you know, the Mormons will go out there. They'll recruit. So you'll get a lot of, like, Samoans, Polynesians that are Mormon, because they go out there, because that's like free recruiting, because no one else is going out there.

• 5:49Speaker 06

What do you mean Pacific island chain?

• 5:51Andrew Santino?

Any, any, any island, islands of the Pacific, I would say, right?

• 5:55Speaker 06

  Oh, of the churches?

• 5:57Andrew Santino?

Yeah, so, no, no, the Mormons will go down there to the Pacific, to, to, like Samoa.

• 6:02Speaker 06

  Sure.

• 6:02Andrew Santino?

Right? And then they'll, they'll recruit to come back to the States and join the Church of Mormon. So you'll meet a lot of, like, Samoans that are Mormon. You meet a lot of islanders that are Mormon, because they, they do, they're smart. They go where people, other churches weren't going down there, and they thought, We'll take it on.

• 6:20Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 6:21Andrew Santino?

  We'll brave the seas.

• 6:22Speaker 06

And then do they go, oh, you know, we'll get you to Utah, kind of thing?

• 6:25Andrew Santino?

They do. There's a lot of, there's actually a lot of like.

• 6:27Speaker 06

We'll help you get a green card, kind of thing?

• 6:29Andrew Santino?

Oh, yeah. You'll see a lot of Pacific Islanders in Salt Lake. It's kind of interesting.

• 6:32Speaker 06

I would take that deal. A free green card?

• 6:34Andrew Santino?

Why not, dude? And also, they own Coca-Cola or whatever. I mean, the Mormons got it on lock. I don't know if you've ever been to Salt Lake City, but it's great. And the streets are big in case the tanks come, you know what I mean?

• 6:42Speaker 06

  Mm-hmm.

• 6:42Andrew Santino?

They know what they're doing, dude.

• 6:43Speaker 06

Oh, my gosh. It's so interesting. Like, I, I used like, well, I used, I had local openers and some of them were like, one was like, I, I just left a church not too long ago. So her jokes were like, so I was at Starbucks and the sizes of the cups, and I was like, hey, hey, by the way, like, you know what I mean? Because it was new to her, coffee.

• 7:03Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 7:03Speaker 06

But I was like, oh, like, that's actually like, a long ago take.

• 7:08Andrew Santino?

  Thousands of years old.

• 7:09Speaker 06

  Mini, wow.

• 7:10Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, thousands, in fact, yeah.

• 7:11Speaker 06

Thousands of years old, kind of take.

• 7:13Andrew Santino?

One of the oldest drinks on earth.

• 7:14Speaker 06

And also, like, the take of like, venti, tall, grande. I was like, oh, girl, girl, hey.

• 7:20Andrew Santino?

  Don't do that.

• 7:21Speaker 06

Yeah, it's been a while, you know? Just like, talk about your former experience, like, in the Mormon church or something.

• 7:27Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, how you felt trapped.

• 7:28Speaker 06

  I want to see that.

• 7:29Andrew Santino?

That's what I want to see.

• 7:30Speaker 06

  You know?

• 7:31Andrew Santino?

When did you, when did you get here, by the way? When did you immigrate here?

• 7:33Speaker 06

I got to the States when I was eight, and that was a little before nine eleven. That's how, you know, it's, for me, it's pre-nine eleven, post-nine eleven.

• 7:42Andrew Santino?

Pleading your case? It sounds like she's pleading your case. This is pre-nine eleven. I, I wasn't, uh, I was before all that stuff went down, man. I had nothing to do with it.

• 7:49Speaker 06

Gosh, I really sound like I did it.

• 7:51Andrew Santino?

Yeah, well, you sound like you were involved, for sure.

• 7:53Speaker 06

  Oh, for sure, yeah.

• 7:54Andrew Santino?

Because you were eight years old when you came over here.

• 7:57Speaker 06

  Uh-huh, yeah, I was eight.

• 7:58Andrew Santino?

Wonderful, little cute eight-year-old. Did you have the same haircut when you were eight?

• 8:00Speaker 06

Late nineties? No, I didn't always know myself.

• 8:04Andrew Santino?

You figured it out at some point.

• 8:05Speaker 06

Yes, it was long. It's just long, middle part. What the hell is that?

• 8:10Andrew Santino?

You had a middle part, yeah, the old school middle part.

• 8:12Speaker 06

  Who am I? Jennifer Aniston?

• 8:13Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, you are, kind of.

• 8:14Speaker 06

  Aniston?

• 8:14Andrew Santino?

  Aniston, yeah.

• 8:15Speaker 06

So, yeah, middle part, long hair, glasses.

• 8:18Andrew Santino?

And you were like, I got, I don't, this isn't me, because this is how I've known you, and I haven't known you for too long, but this is how I've known you, and it's so you, it's unbelievable.

• 8:25Speaker 06

And this is how I've known you.

• 8:26Andrew Santino?

Yeah. I never had, it was, my hair's always been the same. I never had long hair. I never did like this. I never had like, uh, cool, long guy.

• 8:33Speaker 06

Did you ever try to dye it?

• 8:35Andrew Santino?

  You know?

• 8:36Speaker 06

To be like, I'm no longer red?

• 8:38Andrew Santino?

I never wanted to. A girl I dated in college for a short amount of time.

• 8:42Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 8:43Andrew Santino?

She was like, what if, what if we dye your hair? You wanna try to dye your hair? It'd be fun. Cause she had just dyed her hair. And she was like, let's dye your hair. And then so we did it like a little bit of brown.

• 8:52Speaker 06

  Uh huh.

• 8:53Andrew Santino?

And it, you can't really dye red hair. It's impossible.

• 8:56Speaker 06

  I mean.

• 8:56Andrew Santino?

It's just another shade of red.

• 8:58Speaker 06

It was just like a red brown.

• 8:59Andrew Santino?

It was really gross and I felt weird about it.

• 9:02Speaker 06

  Oh yeah?

• 9:02Andrew Santino?

Yeah, it felt like she was trying to strip me away from who I really was.

• 9:05Speaker 06

I was gonna say, she was against you.

• 9:07Andrew Santino?

  She was.

• 9:08Speaker 06

  She wanted you to lose.

• 9:09Andrew Santino?

She was like, I don't really like the way you look like this. I'd like to change you. So she tried to change me. And I didn't, I didn't appreciate it.

• 9:15Speaker 06

Oh wow, dark brown. There you are. That's a roll.

• 9:18Andrew Santino?

An episode of Dave. I did that for a role. That was, we did a, a kitchen nightmare scene.

• 9:23Speaker 06

I'm trying to remember that episode.

• 9:25Speaker 05

It was the season two finale.

• 9:26Andrew Santino?

  Season two finale.

• 9:27Speaker 05

Or no, the penultimate season two.

• 9:29Andrew Santino?

  The penultimate.

• 9:29Speaker 06

Did you feel lost? Did you cry when that happened?

• 9:32Andrew Santino?

A lot of people look at you so funny when they, they're like, oh my god, you with dark hair. It looks so, it doesn't look like me at all. It looks like a different guy. But all like all the, the whole, the whole cast was like.

• 9:41Speaker 06

  Right.

• 9:42Andrew Santino?

  Tripping out.

• 9:42Speaker 05

Like it looks, it looks wrong. Like when you see someone in blackface, you're like, it doesn't even look real.

• 9:47Andrew Santino?

Is that how you feel when you see someone in blackface?

• 9:49Speaker 05

Yeah, it's like, they never look like a black guy.

• 9:51Andrew Santino?

  People in blackface?

• 9:52Speaker 05

Too, too often. I'll say it. Too often.

• 9:55Speaker 06

His inkling was cancel this man.

• 9:57Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 9:57Speaker 06

There, he was like, we gotta cancel this Burnett? Who is he?

• 10:01Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, he's gotta go.

• 10:02Speaker 06

  It's more Protestant looking.

• 10:04Andrew Santino?

Right, that looks a little bit more, um, I am gonna be at church. And I, you know, it's funny, I never, I did church when I was a little boy.

• 10:11Speaker 06

  Mm-hmm.

• 10:12Andrew Santino?

And then as a young man.

• 10:13Speaker 06

  Catholic, right?

• 10:14Andrew Santino?

Yeah, Catholic. And then, um, and then I did a lot of church, what?

• 10:19Speaker 05

  R.I.P. the Pope.

• 10:20Andrew Santino?

  R.I.P. the Pope!

• 10:22Speaker 06

  Oh my gosh, uh.

• 10:23Andrew Santino?

When this episode comes out, he'll have been dead a long time. And so they might have uncovered something about him. So, R.I.P. the Pope, unless you hear something crazy in between now and then.

• 10:30Speaker 06

But Andrew, for some reason, it will still be too soon.

• 10:32Andrew Santino?

  It'll be way too soon.

• 10:33Speaker 06

So that's, you know, whatever. At the time.

• 10:36Andrew Santino?

But this Pope seemed chill. He was cool, he was cool with gay marriage. He was cool with, uh, experimental, uh, medicine, right? Like, uh, psychedelic research on, uh, alternative medicines. That's kinda, that's a huge leap for the church. Like, for the Pope to be cool with that kinda stuff.

• 10:49Speaker 05

He said the thing about how he, he imagines that hell might be empty.

• 10:54Andrew Santino?

Helm probably is empty, I'll tell you.

• 10:55Speaker 06

  A poet, a poet too.

• 10:57Andrew Santino?

  A Pope, a Pope poet.

• 10:58Speaker 06

A Pope poet. Wow, no, I know, so, too soon.

• 11:02Andrew Santino?

Do you believe in the afterlife?

• 11:03Speaker 06

Uh, I guess I don't really think about it. So what is that called?

• 11:07Andrew Santino?

Uh, yeah, living in the now, living present.

• 11:10Speaker 06

Right, so maybe I don't believe in it, if you know, if I, if I'm not thinking about, I think people who believe in it, think about it.

• 11:15Andrew Santino?

  They do, like it's coming.

• 11:17Speaker 06

And wonder what it is and then have an answer.

• 11:19Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 11:19Speaker 06

  I don't have an answer.

• 11:20Andrew Santino?

Me neither, yeah. I hope it's chill. I don't want more work. I hope there's no work, when whatever happens, I don't want to keep working.

• 11:26Speaker 06

Right, oh yeah, cuz in some versions of stuff, like, I guess the Bible.

• 11:32Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 11:32Speaker 06

They talk about how you're gonna sing, if you're in heaven, you're gonna sing forever.

• 11:36Andrew Santino?

  It's work.

• 11:36Speaker 06

Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I'm like, oh, that's very presumptuous, not all of us are singers.

• 11:41Andrew Santino?

Right, I, I, I'm not, uh, I mean, I'll sing Better Man over and over for them like I did before.

• 11:46Speaker 06

  Sure.

• 11:46Andrew Santino?

Care and find a better man, but I can't do that for eternity, I don't think.

• 11:50Speaker 06

No, no, in fact, I was kicked out of the choir, actually, in the seventh grade. My uncle was the choir director, too. He kicked me out.

• 11:58Andrew Santino?

  Your uncle did?

• 11:59Speaker 06

I, I joined, I said, hey, I wanna be part of another community. I'm already part of a church, but I was like, it looks fun.

• 12:05Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 12:06Speaker 06

Weekly practice, something for me to do, structure.

• 12:09Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 12:10Speaker 06

He said, go ahead. We did a, a, a forty-five minute cantata for Easter.

• 12:15Andrew Santino?

  Cantata.

• 12:16Speaker 06

That's like, it's like a musical. It's like forty-five minutes of you just singing. It's like a medley. You just keep going and going and going for God.

• 12:24Andrew Santino?

  That's exhausting.

• 12:25Speaker 06

So I was doing that, and then after that, I was never asked back.

• 12:28Andrew Santino?

  Because of your tone?

• 12:30Speaker 06

I think he, he said, we could hear you, you, you love to sing loud, and you who are not tone deaf, but, you know, your tone, yeah.

• 12:40Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 12:40Speaker 06

I was an alto, so I had to harmonize. That's very difficult. Yes.

• 12:44Andrew Santino?

What's the one, what's the easiest one?

• 12:46Speaker 06

Oh, I guess the soprano or, like, whoever gets the melody.

• 12:50Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 12:51Speaker 06

  You know.

• 12:51Andrew Santino?

You have to find it with everyone else.

• 12:53Speaker 06

  You're doing the medley.

• 12:54Andrew Santino?

Care and find a better man.

• 12:56Speaker 06

  You're doing the main, yeah.

• 12:57Andrew Santino?

Right, and you have to find it.

• 12:58Speaker 06

I have to do that, care and find a better man, or whatever, see?

• 13:02Andrew Santino?

That was, I'd say, I wouldn't kick you out. That wasn't bad at all.

• 13:04Speaker 06

  Truly?

• 13:05Andrew Santino?

Put them together, ready, one, two, three. Care and find a better man. Not bad. I wouldn't have kicked you out.

• 13:12Speaker 06

  Uncle Paul was wrong.

• 13:14Andrew Santino?

What, Uncle Paul, and where is he now, by the way?

• 13:16Speaker 06

  In LA, too.

• 13:18Andrew Santino?

Oh, he is? Well, let's be careful, cuz I don't want him to come find us.

• 13:20Speaker 06

  He's still choir director.

• 13:21Andrew Santino?

He is? What was the moment you split from the church? We don't need to get talk about religion more, but I want to know.

• 13:26Speaker 06

  Oh, no, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 13:27Andrew Santino?

What was the moment that you said goodbye?

• 13:28Speaker 06

Just because, you know, again, with kindred spirits. There was church, there was singing.

• 13:33Andrew Santino?

It is a big thing in.

• 13:35Speaker 06

  There was sorrow.

• 13:36Andrew Santino?

Lot of sorrow. What is it, but there's a lot of like, this is something I talked about.

• 13:42Andrew Santino?

In Korean culture. With Bobby, that, that. If you're not a part of the church.

• 13:48Speaker 06

  Yeah, Bobby Flay.

• 13:49Andrew Santino?

Bobby Flay, yeah, Chef Bobby Flay.

• 13:51Speaker 06

  Yes.

• 13:51Andrew Santino?

You think you could beat him?

• 13:53Speaker 06

  Huh?

• 13:53Andrew Santino?

Do you think you could beat him?

• 13:54Speaker 06

  In cooking?

• 13:55Andrew Santino?

Well, that's what the show is, yeah.

• 13:58Speaker 06

  No, I mean.

• 13:58Andrew Santino?

I want to do beat Bobby Flay so bad.

• 14:00Speaker 06

  Me?

• 14:01Andrew Santino?

  I, I, I think I could, I think I can beat him.

• 14:04Speaker 06

  Yes.

• 14:04Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 14:04Speaker 06

  You beat him, yes.

• 14:06Andrew Santino?

I think he's not that good.

• 14:07Speaker 06

  Yeah, oh, really?

• 14:08Andrew Santino?

No, he's fantastic. No, no, he's fantastic. No, but Bobby, Bobby Lee talked to me about Korean culture when you're a kid. You're almost like ostracized. If you don't, if you aren't going to the church. It's almost like people like look at you like, what do you mean? Whereas little white boy culture, it's like you don't go to the church, they go. You're not going to church? Oh, his parents are divorced.

• 14:28Speaker 06

  Okay.

• 14:28Andrew Santino?

That, I mean, that's literally the fact, like.

• 14:30Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 14:30Andrew Santino?

That is kind of how it goes, they go, oh, something's wrong at home, they're not going to church.

• 14:33Speaker 06

Got it, yeah. Which is, you know, kind of like.

• 14:36Andrew Santino?

  It's valid.

• 14:36Speaker 06

Yeah, and, and that's, that's, you know, you don't want that judgment too, though. That's also, you know.

• 14:41Andrew Santino?

Double judgment, I don't need it from every, every angle.

• 14:43Speaker 06

  Yeah, come on now.

• 14:44Andrew Santino?

I beat myself up enough. Are you hard on yourself as a comedian? Because you're a brilliant comedian, I do want to say. You have a special that's out right now on Hulu, we're both Hulu people.

• 14:52Speaker 06

  Hello, Hulu, yeah.

• 14:53Andrew Santino?

What's the name of your special?

• 14:54Speaker 06

  Father.

• 14:55Andrew Santino?

  Father.

• 14:56Speaker 06

Speaking of fathers, yeah, singing loud, yeah, exactly. See, you knew, everything's connected.

• 15:01Andrew Santino?

  I could feel it.

• 15:02Speaker 06

Yeah, we're not trying to talk about the church, it's just, you know.

• 15:04Andrew Santino?

  It's a part of it.

• 15:05Speaker 06

It's where we sang, it's where I got kicked out, it's where I learned I was not an alto. Come on.

• 15:10Andrew Santino?

  You're a tenor, you're a soprano, you're a, you're a, you're a.

• 15:13Speaker 06

  I'm everything else.

• 15:14Andrew Santino?

You're a comedian more than anything.

• 15:15Speaker 06

  Thank you.

• 15:16Andrew Santino?

Did you find comedy in the church? Were you, were you a goofball?

• 15:19Speaker 06

I did find comedy in the church in that I found out what stand up comedy was through. During a sermon, one of my like friends passed Margaret Cho DVD to me.

• 15:30Andrew Santino?

  Oh.

• 15:30Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 15:31Andrew Santino?

  So good.

• 15:31Speaker 06

And she was like. Stand up comedy, go watch it at home. Like it was contraband. She was like, don't, well, you know.

• 15:38Andrew Santino?

  Hide it.

• 15:38Speaker 06

Yeah, yeah, don't, don't show it to anyone, just you go and watch it, okay? Like she was gonna be taken. I was like, okay.

• 15:45Andrew Santino?

They're gonna find me when they do, tell them.

• 15:47Speaker 06

  You just.

• 15:48Andrew Santino?

Tell them I did my best.

• 15:49Speaker 06

Yeah, totally. You just go and drive us go. I was like, okay, and so I went and watched it and I was like, what? What do you mean, ah, one person talks on the stage funny? You know?

• 16:00Andrew Santino?

That changed your life, Margaret Cho.

• 16:01Speaker 06

  Yeah, yeah.

• 16:02Andrew Santino?

Have you sat with her and ta- and talked to her about what she did for you?

• 16:04Speaker 06

Yes, yeah, yeah, we're friends, yeah, yeah. It's so wild that in comedy you could do that, right?

• 16:09Andrew Santino?

You become friends with someone that you idolized?

• 16:10Speaker 06

  Oh, totally, yeah.

• 16:11Andrew Santino?

  It's very strange.

• 16:12Speaker 06

She was my church, you know?

• 16:13Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 16:14Speaker 06

  After that, yeah.

• 16:15Andrew Santino?

That is strange. I, I don't think about it, but sometimes it hits me that I'm like, oh yeah, like, you know, like Swartson and I are, are really good friends and I remember, this is crazy, and I told him this when we first met. I had his half hour on VHS that we had, I had taped.

• 16:32Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 16:32Andrew Santino?

And we used to watch it in my college dorm.

• 16:34Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 16:35Andrew Santino?

I thought that was crazy. Now he's my bu- good buddy. But it's so funny because I, he was one of the youngest, I think he was the youngest, Swartson was the youngest half hour I think Comedy Central had ever given. I think he was a

• 16:46Speaker 06

  Oh, cool.

• 16:46Andrew Santino?

I wanna say he was like nineteen or twenty. But I remember seeing him being like, dude, he's like us, he's like our age. He was close to like our age.

• 16:53Speaker 06

  Mm-hmm.

• 16:54Andrew Santino?

And I was fascinated. I was like, I, I, that's really, I, I knew I wanted to do stand up, but seeing someone so young do it, I was like, yeah, that's it. That's it. We can do that. That's, I can just work and we can do that.

• 17:05Speaker 06

  His age, too.

• 17:06Andrew Santino?

Yeah, I mean, he was a li- a couple, he was a little bit older than us, but I do remember, he got the special when he was how old? You know, what does it say? Twenty?

• 17:12Speaker 05

I was gonna say Bo, Bo Burnham was younger than him.

• 17:14Andrew Santino?

Oh, Bo, I guess, right, in the new generation.

• 17:16Speaker 05

But he never did. Bo was eighteen. He did the Comedy Central Presents.

• 17:18Andrew Santino?

Comedy Central Presents, what I'm saying, Bo never did a Presents, right?

• 17:21Speaker 05

  He did do a Presents.

• 17:22Andrew Santino?

  He did?

• 17:22Speaker 05

  Two thousand nine.

• 17:23Speaker 06

  Okay.

• 17:23Andrew Santino?

Oh, wow. How old was Bo?

• 17:25Speaker 05

  Eighteen.

• 17:25Andrew Santino?

And what was Nikki? Probably twenty, twenty-two? He was a little bit older than us, I think.

• 17:31Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 17:31Andrew Santino?

  But that is-

• 17:32Speaker 06

But still, you feel like, oh, it's possible. It's just anyone who made it feel like, oh, wow. You know what I mean?

• 17:37Andrew Santino?

I could be a part of the world if I try, if I really work in it, yeah.

• 17:40Speaker 06

  Oh, yeah.

• 17:40Andrew Santino?

But then becoming friends with them is, that's what's even more wild.

• 17:43Speaker 06

  Yeah, right.

• 17:44Andrew Santino?

  Twenty-five.

• 17:44Speaker 06

  Oh, twenty-five, okay.

• 17:45Andrew Santino?

  But a child.

• 17:46Speaker 05

  Still very-

• 17:48Andrew Santino?

I was twenty years old and I was watching this being like, this is, this guy is like our peer, dude.

• 17:51Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 17:52Andrew Santino?

And it felt, that felt so, so wild.

• 17:54Speaker 06

I wonder if that's the same with like actors? I don't think so. Where they go, oh, you know, I watched you. Not as much.

• 17:59Andrew Santino?

No, it is. I, I feel like I see-

• 18:01Speaker 06

Where you get to work with them?

• 18:01Andrew Santino?

I see young actors talking to older actors that they're, that they were impressed by, and I think they do, I think that, I think it's the same kind of thing.

• 18:08Speaker 06

  They get to be friends.

• 18:09Andrew Santino?

It's the same thing with athletes, too. You talk to like, people that prefer professional sports, they tell them, they're like, dude, I grew up watching you. And now I get to play with you.

• 18:15Speaker 06

  That's true. Yeah, that's true.

• 18:17Andrew Santino?

Were you ever an athlete as a kid?

• 18:19Speaker 06

  Did, was I into athletes?

• 18:21Andrew Santino?

No, were you an athlete as a kid? Could you play sports? You seem very athletic.

• 18:24Speaker 06

Oh, thank you so much. I, I played basketball, but it was a time where in L.A., if you were a Japanese-American kid, you were in a basketball league.

• 18:32Andrew Santino?

  You had to be.

• 18:32Speaker 06

  Because it was like-

• 18:33Andrew Santino?

  Requirement.

• 18:34Speaker 06

It was a thing, we all knew like, if you did, if you played long enough, you get like two thousand dollars towards college or something. So we were like, we all gotta do it.

• 18:42Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 18:42Speaker 06

You know, any free money. And so I, and they were like, you know, Okatsuka's pretty tall. I was my height now, when I was eight.

• 18:50Andrew Santino?

And you stopped. You peaked, you peaked at when you were eight.

• 18:52Speaker 06

Peak at eight, my god, my, the growing pains. I'm five-three, but at eight?

• 18:56Andrew Santino?

  Huge.

• 18:57Speaker 06

  Yeah, I was a giant.

• 18:58Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 18:58Speaker 06

So everyone was like, oh, she's got, oh, she's-

• 19:01Andrew Santino?

Wait till you see how she finishes. She's gonna be tall.

• 19:03Speaker 06

The pressure, I was a forward, right?

• 19:05Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 19:06Speaker 06

Because they were like, she's five-three. To hear from the stands, I would hear parents go, Okatsuka's gonna make, she, Okatsuka's got the ball. She's gonna make it. She's five-three. What a wild thing to say.

• 19:16Andrew Santino?

  Well, you were a threat.

• 19:17Speaker 06

And I always missed. I was not a baller. I was not a baller.

• 19:21Andrew Santino?

  You were not a baller.

• 19:22Speaker 06

No, but, so there was some sports that you would get put into because it was like a community thing, or there was some scholarship possibility.

• 19:29Andrew Santino?

  But otherwise not.

• 19:30Speaker 06

Or, just because you were the tallest in your class.

• 19:33Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, that does happen.

• 19:34Speaker 06

  Right.

• 19:34Andrew Santino?

What did you find then? Out, because comedy's become your life, right? When you become a stand-up as a professional, it is kind of your whole life. Have you found a way to- Have enjoy other hobbies outside of stand up because I will say people that don't know when we're young as stand ups and you're in the grind. You kind of dedicate your entire every second of your life to do it and then you reach a certain age, which I imagine you're there. Where you're like, I kinda wanna have other shit too, like I don't wanna just be a stand up. Like, do you have other hobbies that you do?

• 20:07Speaker 06

I'm struggling with that. I'm trying to figure that out.

• 20:10Andrew Santino?

  It's hard.

• 20:10Speaker 06

I was like, oh my god, I have no interest. I'm so pale. I don't ever see the sun.

• 20:14Andrew Santino?

Well, that's good for you, though.

• 20:15Speaker 06

I don't hike. You you're you you go out there.

• 20:18Andrew Santino?

I do go out there and I shouldn't because I'm pale as well, but I wear like the I wear like the old Asian woman hats. You know, I have the big bode hats.

• 20:24Speaker 06

  Good self care.

• 20:25Andrew Santino?

Yeah, I have to. I have to.

• 20:27Speaker 06

  Self preservation?

• 20:28Andrew Santino?

Yeah, well, that I'm doing an awful job on with food and alcohol, but I'm trying with the other stuff.

• 20:33Speaker 06

  So you're out there hiking.

• 20:34Andrew Santino?

I'll take a hike. I'll cook. I'll take a hike. I like to cook. I like to play golf. I like to um. Take little vaca- mini vacations, little mini getaways, you know?

• 20:43Speaker 06

And when you do that, it's really just laying out and stuff or do you?

• 20:46Andrew Santino?

No, no, I go do shit. I'm an active. I'm an active guy. I don't want to like going to the beach. I don't wanna.

• 20:53Speaker 06

  Just lay.

• 20:54Andrew Santino?

  What is that?

• 20:54Speaker 06

No, I don't. Me too. My mind goes wild.

• 20:56Andrew Santino?

  I wanna do something.

• 20:57Speaker 06

My biggest nightmare, my biggest fear is being with my brain for too long.

• 21:02Andrew Santino?

  It's scary up there.

• 21:03Speaker 06

And it's like, okay, and looking at the ocean. Why don't you just jump? It's too it's too tempting.

• 21:08Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, too tempting.

• 21:09Speaker 06

No, no, no, no, no. Yes, keep me busy.

• 21:11Andrew Santino?

Right, I I need to be busy, otherwise.

• 21:13Speaker 06

Like petting an elephant or something?

• 21:15Andrew Santino?

  Love petting an elephant.

• 21:16Speaker 06

  Right? I've never done it.

• 21:17Andrew Santino?

  Really?

• 21:18Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 21:18Andrew Santino?

  Neither have I.

• 21:19Speaker 06

  Okay.

• 21:19Andrew Santino?

Well, I mean, where would I have the opportunity?

• 21:21Speaker 06

You would go to Thailand or?

• 21:22Andrew Santino?

I I you know, I would like to do that kind of exotic vacation, but also um, there's a few other spots I wanna hit for. Look, I've been to. Been to Japan.

• 21:32Speaker 06

  Mm hmm, mm hmm.

• 21:33Andrew Santino?

Was supposed to go to Korea, bailed.

• 21:35Speaker 06

  Okay, you bailed?

• 21:37Andrew Santino?

  I bailed.

• 21:37Speaker 06

  Or they bailed, the country?

• 21:39Andrew Santino?

  Korea said, no, thank you.

• 21:40Speaker 06

Yeah, yeah. They're like, the way you talk to your friend, our friend.

• 21:43Andrew Santino?

  Our friend.

• 21:43Speaker 06

  Our mayor.

• 21:44Andrew Santino?

  No, thank you.

• 21:45Speaker 06

  Our mayor.

• 21:45Andrew Santino?

But Japan, the doors are still open. I can go back. I wanna go back to Japan again, and I also never been to China. I also wanna go to China. But that like those places I wanna hit a couple more times before I venture out to the to the Thailand.

• 21:56Speaker 06

What did you do in Japan? So you were like, so the activities?

• 21:59Andrew Santino?

Just like that. Just do that again with your arms. That's exactly what I did.

• 22:01Speaker 06

  You're like, hey, hey.

• 22:02Andrew Santino?

  I'm in Japan.

• 22:03Speaker 06

  I'm back.

• 22:04Andrew Santino?

What did I do? I went to um, we went all over and then we went to. Um, the Okinawan Islands, we went to a place called Ishigake.

• 22:13Speaker 06

Wow, I've never been to Okinawa. Yeah, wow, wow, wow.

• 22:16Andrew Santino?

This is what the locals don't even go down there.

• 22:18Speaker 06

So you were just, and that's, that's where you, that's where you beach it. The, the south, it's the Hawaii of Japan.

• 22:23Andrew Santino?

But it was also pretty fascinating because it was culturally so very different from Tokyo and Kyoto. It was like, uh, true, really, it was very, it felt like island people, like island culture.

• 22:38Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 22:39Andrew Santino?

And they weren't Japanese, they felt like their own subculture, you know? And they, and they literally spoke no English, where you can get around Japan so easily. But in, in Ishigake was tough. I had to use the Google Translate app all the time.

• 22:51Speaker 06

  Wow.

• 22:51Andrew Santino?

It was just really hard. I, I think, you know, and it's my fault, I don't speak their language, but, so, I was trying and it was really difficult because all over Tokyo, obviously, you know, it's, it's, English is everywhere.

• 23:01Speaker 06

  Uh huh, yeah.

• 23:02Andrew Santino?

But when you go down south, it was tough, it was really hard. So I was confused a lot. I, I, I got stuff I didn't want all the time.

• 23:09Speaker 06

  They're friendly.

• 23:09Andrew Santino?

No, they're, they're very nice, they try, but they also, it's like the barrier is so obvious that it's like, we speak zero English and I'm like, and I speak zero Japanese.

• 23:17Speaker 06

  Oh, it's so hard to.

• 23:18Andrew Santino?

Or Okinawan, it's a different, don't they have a different dialect?

• 23:20Speaker 06

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. So you're like translating on Google, but then they're like, oh, we don't actually speak that kind of Japanese.

• 23:25Andrew Santino?

  Right, right.

• 23:25Speaker 06

  You know?

• 23:25Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 23:26Speaker 06

Oh, and then just knowing the culture, because I do speak Japanese, but like third grade level. And so I've been on Duolingo, and when I was back in Japan, I was like, okay, I got it down. I, I reviewed it for a whole week with a, you know what I mean? I'm very, also lazy still.

• 23:40Andrew Santino?

  Yes.

• 23:41Speaker 06

So I'm like, oh, you know, I'm stubborn, so I'm like, no, I just need like a week to review it, I'm fine. And I took one week to review it on Duolingo. I said, okay, my Japanese is back. And then when I was there, I accidentally ordered a $300 champagne. When I was just trying to take, get a glass.

• 23:56Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 23:57Speaker 06

  In Tokyo.

• 23:58Andrew Santino?

They didn't, they didn't say, are you sure? They didn't like give you like a...

• 24:01Speaker 06

I should have known, Andrew, because I ordered the champagne at the bar. The entire place, the entire bar went silent.

• 24:07Andrew Santino?

Oh, right, they're like, lady, what are you doing?

• 24:09Speaker 06

The bartender was like, oh my god.

• 24:11Andrew Santino?

  A gasp from a bartender?

• 24:12Speaker 06

  Really?

• 24:13Andrew Santino?

Then you know, it's like, never mind, I don't know what that was, but I take it back.

• 24:15Speaker 06

Oh my god, I, I was confused. He went to the back and he, he started screaming to his staff, champagne, she's getting a champagne, champagne!

• 24:23Andrew Santino?

  Champagne, ring the bell!

• 24:24Speaker 06

Oh my god, ding, ding, ding, everyone came out, lined up and bowed. I was like, what?

• 24:28Andrew Santino?

  Wow.

• 24:28Speaker 06

Yeah, I was like, oh no.

• 24:30Andrew Santino?

  Maybe it was worth it.

• 24:30Speaker 06

  For a glass?

• 24:31Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 24:32Speaker 06

  Like it was my birthday.

• 24:33Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 24:34Speaker 06

Apparently in Japan, you don't drink glasses of champagne. You get the whole bottle. It's to celebrate something big.

• 24:40Andrew Santino?

  Oh, wow.

• 24:41Speaker 06

It was just like a Wednesday night. I just was like, oh, I feel like a glass. And then, oh my god. And then they came out with the bottle. They were like, please, watch us as we open it.

• 24:51Andrew Santino?

  Wow.

• 24:51Speaker 06

And I was like, I swear my Japanese is good now. I swear I speak the language.

• 24:57Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 24:57Speaker 06

But you have to still know the culture.

• 24:59Speaker 01

  In here, we pour whiskey.

• 25:02Andrew Santino?

Hey, gotta tell you here about Light Strike. That's the sound I want to make when I'm drinking this. The orange mango. This is really good. They got two flavors. They got lemon lime and this. But here's the deal. When you're drinking out by the pool, you're having a long day, you got friends coming and going, you barbecue and throw some brats on. You want something to sip sap on. You don't want the fuzz bubbles. You're not getting the burps and the farts if you got chickadees over at the house trying to swim in the pool. All right? You don't want that bloated belly. Get yourself a non-fuzz-free delicious drink with 10% coconut water, sea salt, non-carbonated, gluten-free beverage. That's Light Strike, my friends. 5% alcohol is in this. It is very good. Like I said, they got lemon lime and orange mango. This is my favorite. This is playing the long game, kids. All right? This is all day. You can sip on this all day and reseal it as you go.

• 27:22Andrew Santino?

Patience in Japan. Man, they take their time. When you order something, it's like it comes when it's ready, not when you want it.

• 27:29Speaker 06

  Yeah. Oh, my God.

• 27:30Andrew Santino?

  Which is fine.

• 27:31Speaker 06

Even in Little Tokyo, there's a restaurant where Ryan, my husband, was joking. He's very funny and but we were waiting for like just like a sashimi platter. And I was like, you know, sometimes it had been like an hour. And he was like, you know, sometimes I just want to go back there and be like, because he's like, you know, the sushi chef back there is just with his sword, just going hmm, just trying to make a perfect line.

• 27:55Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 27:55Speaker 06

Hmm, for nobody. Nobody's watching. No one can see you.

• 27:59Andrew Santino?

  But it's for him.

• 27:59Speaker 06

Sweetie, no one can see you. Yeah, it's for him.

• 28:01Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 28:02Speaker 06

Oh, 10,000 hours of practice. Just perfect line. Ah, if he fucks up, it starts over.

• 28:08Andrew Santino?

  That's right.

• 28:08Speaker 06

We want to be like, hey, sweetie, we're in Little Tokyo. We're not in regular Tokyo.

• 28:12Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, this is LA.

• 28:13Speaker 06

  No one, you are fine.

• 28:15Andrew Santino?

Just give it to me. I'm gonna, I'm gonna eat it and poop it out in an hour. So just give it to me.

• 28:18Speaker 06

You're Korean. You're not, you're, we're fine. No one's, you don't need to prove anything to anybody.

• 28:25Andrew Santino?

No, it's fine. But that is the culture over there that I respect is they take care of everything. They do it really slow. They're methodical.

• 28:31Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 28:31Andrew Santino?

You know, they hand chip ice. I always thought that was wild. Every block of ice is blocks of ice. So they cut it off at a bar, you know, they they cut it live. I thought that was so cool, you know, they chunk it out live and then they shave it to fit the glass. They love high balls. They make them really slow and methodical. There's nothing really to it. It's just whiskey and, and, and either ginger beer or in soda water.

• 28:51Speaker 06

  Did you perform there?

• 28:52Andrew Santino?

No, I wish. I've never performed anywhere outside of the States, uh, except for Canada, Canada.

• 28:59Speaker 06

  Yeah, yeah, we know her.

• 29:00Andrew Santino?

  Australia.

• 29:00Speaker 06

  We know her too, yes.

• 29:02Andrew Santino?

Uh, and we're about to do London. Bobby and I are doing London and Dublin.

• 29:05Speaker 06

  Yes.

• 29:06Andrew Santino?

Oh, Mexico. I should say Mexico, too.

• 29:08Speaker 06

  Right.

• 29:08Andrew Santino?

In the Gulf of America. That's where we were.

• 29:10Speaker 06

  Yes.

• 29:11Andrew Santino?

Yeah, we went to Mexico. We'd performed down there. We went to perform in Cancun for that Just For Lasts Festival, like, the first year they did it. And I don't think they do it anymore because there was a shooting at the resort right next door.

• 29:20Speaker 06

  I don't think that, I don't think I knew that.

• 29:23Andrew Santino?

Yeah, no, no, no, it was crazy. It was crazy.

• 29:25Speaker 06

It was big news, right? It has to be.

• 29:26Andrew Santino?

Yeah, it was like two resorts up the road or something. They shot. It was a, um, it was, this is the funniest part is because everyone panics. But then they even tell you, they're like, hey dude, they're not, they're not gonna shoot tourists. They know where their money is. This is the cartel. They're killing another drug dealer. They're killing someone who did wrong by them.

• 29:42Speaker 06

  But at a resort.

• 29:42Andrew Santino?

Yeah, but they're not gonna kill you. You know what I mean? You're a tourist. They don't wanna hurt you. You're their money. The cartel protects tourists. They really do.

• 29:50Speaker 06

Sure, but like, you know, sometimes when you're, you know, when you're passionate, when you're feeling passionate, you're moving quick.

• 29:56Andrew Santino?

  I know.

• 29:57Speaker 06

Oh, innocent bystanders is a, a term for a reason.

• 30:01Andrew Santino?

I gotta tell ya, I, I, I agree with you. That's, that's in the United States.

• 30:04Speaker 06

Oh, don't worry. You'll be fine. Yeah, okay.

• 30:06Andrew Santino?

  Down there.

• 30:07Speaker 06

  Do they train really well?

• 30:08Andrew Santino?

They really do. The cartel have extremely good training. Very good training.

• 30:11Speaker 06

  Good, uh, aim?

• 30:12Andrew Santino?

  Good, great aim.

• 30:13Speaker 06

Sometimes you're wearing the wrong clothes. You look like the enemy.

• 30:16Andrew Santino?

I don't look Mexican at all. I don't think I have yet. Not yet. And I think you would definitely be good. I think there's no way they're gonna go, does that one look like? That one definitely doesn't look like it.

• 30:25Speaker 06

I look more like them than you.

• 30:28Andrew Santino?

  No.

• 30:29Speaker 06

Dark hair. What are you, dark hair?

• 30:32Andrew Santino?

I think you and I both do not fit in in Mexico. I think you and I stand up. We should do a show.

• 30:36Speaker 06

  Speak for yourself.

• 30:36Andrew Santino?

Santino and Hatzko go to Mexico.

• 30:39Speaker 06

  Yeah, which one, yeah.

• 30:41Andrew Santino?

  Who's more Mexican?

• 30:42Speaker 06

Who do you want on your, on your team?

• 30:45Andrew Santino?

What was the, did you find it? This resort?

• 30:47Speaker 05

I was gonna say, was that in December of 21?

• 30:50Andrew Santino?

I don't know, yeah, it might be Cancun.

• 30:52Speaker 05

It just says gunfire, they were, uh, the shooters arrived on jet skis.

• 30:55Andrew Santino?

That's so tight. If you're gonna do it, do it, do it, do it like the old school, like an eighties movie.

• 31:00Speaker 06

They wanted to make the news. I mean, and, and they kinda did. I guess I didn't hear about this, so that's why the festival doesn't happen anymore?

• 31:07Andrew Santino?

No, that's not why. I think it was financially, it didn't work for them. It was also, it was wild. You had to like book a ticket to go to a resort.

• 31:13Speaker 06

  Big investment, yeah.

• 31:14Andrew Santino?

  For them, it was crazy.

• 31:15Speaker 06

  Right.

• 31:15Andrew Santino?

And to fly us all out to Cancun, I was like, this is insane.

• 31:17Speaker 06

But that was fun, I'm sure.

• 31:19Andrew Santino?

It was awesome. Segura was down, there was a bunch of people that went down there to perform. So it was fun. The only bummer was Bobby relapsed. That was kinda, that was probably the biggest bummer about that entire trip. Bobby had a little relapse and then, uh, we had to send him away to rehab again.

• 31:31Speaker 06

  Damn, come on Cancun.

• 31:33Andrew Santino?

Come on Cancun. It's not, definitely not Cancun's fault. That was Bobby's fault.

• 31:37Speaker 06

But the idea, it just sounds so lush, you know, it's like, yeah, I mean, you know, I quit smoking cigarettes and stuff and like, it's like, oh, in an environment like that, it's so hard.

• 31:45Andrew Santino?

How long did you smoke for?

• 31:46Speaker 06

  Oh, eighteen years, yeah.

• 31:48Andrew Santino?

Wow. You don't have smoker's skin at all, though. You're lucky. A lot of people that smoke for that long, you can see it on their face.

• 31:55Speaker 06

Yeah, I wonder if it's cause, you know, eighteen years as in like I started at eighteen. So I don't know, does that?

• 32:00Andrew Santino?

No, I don't think it matters. I think twenty years of smoking is twenty years of smoking.

• 32:03Speaker 06

  Either way.

• 32:04Andrew Santino?

I think at some point, two decades is a long time. I love to smoke.

• 32:07Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 32:08Andrew Santino?

No smokey for me. I still do try sometimes to, it's hard. I like, I, well, I like nicotine.

• 32:15Speaker 06

  Sure, yeah, yeah.

• 32:16Andrew Santino?

And so it's really hard to not have it, especially with coffee. I think it's like the two greatest, it's, I mean, it's a super drug. You know, you see, you go to any like AA meeting and they all have cigarettes and coffee, cause it's like,

• 32:27Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 32:28Andrew Santino?

  the perfect blend.

• 32:29Speaker 06

  Right.

• 32:29Andrew Santino?

  Of legal drugs.

• 32:30Speaker 06

Yeah, during the daytime, it's what you can enjoy. I mean, yeah, and then at night too, it's nice to just like calm down with one cigarette. Oh, come on, yeah, so.

• 32:40Andrew Santino?

  Did your husband smoke too?

• 32:42Speaker 06

Yeah, so before we were together, he was smoking two packs a day and then

• 32:46Andrew Santino?

Two packs a day is that's legit.

• 32:48Speaker 06

He had quit before, you know, sometimes people tell you that, oh, two packs a day, sometimes three. And you go, wait, you do the math and you're like, oh, you were smoking every five minutes. You had to have.

• 32:56Andrew Santino?

At least, yeah, you're just chain smoking all day.

• 32:58Speaker 06

Yeah, you'd have to smoke every couple of minutes to make that happen.

• 33:02Andrew Santino?

So he was champion. He was ranked. He was world ranked in smoking.

• 33:05Speaker 06

Oh, and then he had quit before we met. And then there I was, a smoker. And he didn't pick it up.

• 33:11Andrew Santino?

  Really, he's that good?

• 33:12Speaker 06

  A better person than me.

• 33:13Andrew Santino?

No, no chance. No, no, no. I bet him. He's a great guy, but you're still great. So it's not a competition.

• 33:18Speaker 06

  You're right.

• 33:19Andrew Santino?

But you're you're number one in my book.

• 33:20Speaker 06

Oh, my God, with uh strength, with inner strength.

• 33:23Andrew Santino?

With inner strength, yeah. Inner strength and outer strength. You are very strong. You've been going to the gym a lot more.

• 33:29Speaker 06

Probably you you you more than me, because we were talking about the things staying busy on vacation, right?

• 33:35Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 33:36Speaker 06

So you're talking, you already sound more physically like you're doing the hikes, you're going to tiny towns where you don't speak the language.

• 33:42Andrew Santino?

  That's right.

• 33:43Speaker 06

  More very adventurous.

• 33:44Andrew Santino?

  I like getting lost.

• 33:46Speaker 06

Were you maybe like the first white person they'd seen in a while?

• 33:50Andrew Santino?

Certainly the first white person with red hair. Certainly that was a shock. I mean, everywhere I went, they stared. Uh.

• 33:55Speaker 06

Who did you go with? Your family.

• 33:58Andrew Santino?

I went with my entire family. Yeah, I don't have a family, just a wife, but I didn't go with my family. We don't have kids. Yeah.

• 34:04Speaker 06

  Yeah, yeah.

• 34:04Andrew Santino?

No, it's funny, I sometimes will say that, my family. But it's like, well, I don't have a family. We don't have kids. You guys have kids, no?

• 34:11Speaker 06

  Sometimes family is one person.

• 34:13Andrew Santino?

  I I think it is.

• 34:14Speaker 06

  We're very much like that.

• 34:15Andrew Santino?

But when you say that to people, they immediately assume, oh, you must have children. So it is this weird moment of like, Yeah, my family. And they're like, how many kids? You're like, we don't have any. We're the we're the family.

• 34:24Speaker 06

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 34:25Andrew Santino?

Like, you you don't have kids, right?

• 34:26Speaker 06

No, no, and we're very like not going to.

• 34:28Andrew Santino?

  Not gonna happen.

• 34:28Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 34:29Andrew Santino?

Good. Good for you. Yeah. And I say good for you only because people usually go, See, I feel it the other way, because I we say, yeah, we're not gonna have kids. And people go, why not? Don't you want kids? And they pry in a way where it's like, I don't know, man, I don't feel like sharing it with you. I don't feel like it's your business that my life, it's weird. It is strange. People put the thumb on you when you, especially if you're in your 40s. They're like,

• 34:49Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 34:50Andrew Santino?

  You don't want kids, huh?

• 34:51Speaker 06

  Right, right.

• 34:51Andrew Santino?

Are you sick? Are you dying?

• 34:53Speaker 06

  Yes, you're dying.

• 34:54Andrew Santino?

Do you know that you're gonna die soon?

• 34:56Speaker 06

  Who did you kill?

• 34:57Andrew Santino?

  Who did you murder?

• 34:58Speaker 06

  Yeah, you're on the run?

• 35:01Speaker 06

No, because, yeah, cuz, you know, saying no, we're not gonna have kids, means there's just more reasons than, yes, we had kids.

• 35:09Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 35:09Speaker 06

It's like, also, yeah, it's like, yeah, exactly. In fact, Ryan just got a vasectomy.

• 35:14Andrew Santino?

Did he? Do you have any photos?

• 35:16Speaker 06

  Oh, of this procedure?

• 35:17Andrew Santino?

  Yes.

• 35:18Speaker 06

  Of a post?

• 35:19Andrew Santino?

Yeah, we'll post some right here. We'll put them in the middle here of some vasectomy photos.

• 35:22Speaker 06

They tape your penis to your stomach for the procedure.

• 35:24Andrew Santino?

For a girlfriend, well, for a dick as big as his, for sure.

• 35:27Speaker 06

And then they shave it. What? We were confused.

• 35:31Andrew Santino?

  Well, they shave his balls.

• 35:32Speaker 06

Uh, also, the other stuff. We were like, afterwards, we were like, wait, they should tell us everything they're gonna do because now we're Now we're playing detective, like, why'd they shave his belly? We were like, why did, not a good job, too. So it's just like, kinda random. They just did it fast, like they were mad or something. And then they were like, huh, we're done. And then he's like, oh, I'm just bald in random spots. They didn't even do a good job. Why do they shave my belly? We had to take a while to figure it out, and then we read on it, and then we're like, oh, okay, they tape your penis to your stomach.

• 36:06Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 36:07Speaker 06

So you look like a dog.

• 36:08Andrew Santino?

Yeah, they want your penis up.

• 36:09Speaker 06

You look, that's how dogs are, right?

• 36:11Andrew Santino?

That's my favorite. Yeah, the belly. Put it up on the belly. But it makes sense, though. They didn't want the wiener getting in the way.

• 36:17Speaker 06

Yes, of course. Yeah. So, yes. But the shaving, you know, it was just like, he had a couple procedures done, actually, so it took a longer time to heal. But we're glad we did it.

• 36:28Andrew Santino?

  Wait, he had multiple?

• 36:29Speaker 06

He had one more. There was like an injury, so that they had, they were like, let's do two in a row.

• 36:35Andrew Santino?

  A penis and injury?

• 36:36Speaker 06

  It's actually sack. Sack injury.

• 36:38Andrew Santino?

Oh, sack injury. You guys need to slow down. Whatever you're doing in the bedroom, take it easy, dude. You're beating up this guy's sack? What are you doing? Hitting it like a speed bag?

• 36:45Speaker 06

Apparently, this is from the past.

• 36:47Andrew Santino?

Oh, from someone else. Someone else did this to him.

• 36:49Speaker 06

  I think someone else.

• 36:50Andrew Santino?

Hmm, interesting. That's a conversation, huh? Who did, who did this to your nuts?

• 36:54Speaker 06

You know, when you get older, all your past injuries come back, right, to you, when it's cold?

• 36:59Andrew Santino?

I hurt, everything hurts. My teeth hurt now.

• 37:01Speaker 06

  From your athlete days?

• 37:02Andrew Santino?

For my athletic days. No, I just, just getting out of a car hurts sometimes.

• 37:06Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 37:07Andrew Santino?

  We're just, it's just, the body's done.

• 37:09Speaker 06

And did you know, most times it's because it was from like, oh, oh, your shoulders hurt this way because you might not remember, but when you were ten, you know what I mean?

• 37:18Andrew Santino?

Yeah, a hundred percent. Your brother pushed you off of a, yeah.

• 37:21Speaker 06

Right, and you don't remember because you blacked out.

• 37:23Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 37:23Speaker 06

  Right.

• 37:24Andrew Santino?

And you started drinking when you were in your teens and that

• 37:26Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 37:26Andrew Santino?

  helped to forget everything.

• 37:27Speaker 06

  Oh.

• 37:29Andrew Santino?

  The good old days.

• 37:29Speaker 06

That's different. That's when the Irish family and the Asian family differ. We smart, we start later.

• 37:35Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 37:35Speaker 06

  With the drinking.

• 37:36Andrew Santino?

But when you guys go, you go hard. Japanese go crazy hard.

• 37:40Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 37:41Andrew Santino?

One of the hardest drinking countries I've ever seen.

• 37:43Speaker 06

They act like they're not allergic.

• 37:44Andrew Santino?

  I know.

• 37:45Speaker 06

  I, I'm not.

• 37:46Andrew Santino?

  You don't get red?

• 37:47Speaker 06

Yes, yeah. Me and my dad, we don't have it in our genes.

• 37:49Andrew Santino?

For people that don't know, there is, there is a gene.

• 37:53Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 37:53Andrew Santino?

Uh, that Asians will get very, very red in their, in their face and sometimes on your neck and your body. You almost break out a little bit in hives.

• 38:01Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 38:01Andrew Santino?

From alcohol because you're allergic to it.

• 38:03Speaker 06

  Yeah, totally.

• 38:03Andrew Santino?

Well, that's the body saying, we don't, this is not good.

• 38:05Speaker 06

This is not good, let's stop, hey, hey.

• 38:07Andrew Santino?

  Let's cut it out.

• 38:08Speaker 06

And we're like, no, I came like a wrecking ball. And, uh, but I, yeah, it doesn't hit me, so, yeah.

• 38:15Andrew Santino?

But do you, but do you still, you still enjoy having a couple of cocktails or you've slowed down a little bit?

• 38:20Speaker 06

Oh, no, yeah, I drink, uh, pretty much every night.

• 38:23Andrew Santino?

  You do?

• 38:23Speaker 06

Yeah, not till blackout, but like, yeah.

• 38:25Andrew Santino?

But you don't like it, like we talked about on this show, sometimes we have a cocktail, but you won't drink during the day at all. Nighttime is the right time for you.

• 38:31Speaker 06

Yeah, yeah. Daytime, I get sleepy. I'm a sleepy baby.

• 38:34Andrew Santino?

  Can't do it.

• 38:34Speaker 06

  Sleepy girl, yeah.

• 38:36Andrew Santino?

  Sleepy baby girl.

• 38:36Speaker 06

Yeah, I'll slow down, but nighttime, it's, I don't know what it is. I'm, I'm sure there's a disorder or something. I don't know, only nighttime do I have energy to keep going.

• 38:46Andrew Santino?

Oh, that's smart. Well, I, I like to think it's because we, we work and live at night. We're night people.

• 38:50Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 38:51Andrew Santino?

You know, our jobs exist at night, so we, our, our, uh, what is that called? Your circadian rhythm changes?

• 38:56Speaker 06

  Thank you so much, doctor.

• 38:58Andrew Santino?

  You're welcome.

• 38:59Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 38:59Andrew Santino?

Your circadian rhythm is different because you have lived a life for the past how many years? How long have you been in stand-up?

• 39:04Speaker 06

Uh, I guess like fifteen, sixteen.

• 39:06Andrew Santino?

You see what I mean? Like for fifteen years, you've changed your body's behavior to go, I have to turn on.

• 39:11Speaker 06

  Right.

• 39:12Andrew Santino?

At eight to 10 P M or even after till midnight and then I have to shut down. So your body naturally is like, well, we gotta change the way we pattern the chemical release in this person's machine.

• 39:20Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 39:20Andrew Santino?

They're working while you're, while you're sleeping, they're working. They're trying to flush out that thing.

• 39:25Speaker 06

But as comedians age too and they're like, oh, I'm actually waking up early now too, or they get sober or something, right? It's a real.

• 39:33Andrew Santino?

Well, you have to go back to being a human at some point. That's why I asked about the hobbies is like, did you ever, did you, have you grown up? Now in, in comedy in life where you're like, if I don't do this other thing, I don't feel good as a comedian anymore.

• 39:43Speaker 06

Yeah, yeah, I need, right. I need to figure out a hobby.

• 39:46Andrew Santino?

We gotta get that for you.

• 39:47Speaker 06

I was on like daytime TV in London and we were talking about hobbies. And so the producer, story producer was like, hey, Atsuko, you wear fun jewelry. Can you bring all your jewelry to the show? So I just had all this jewelry. I have like food jewelry. Right now my nails are like shrimp, for example.

• 40:05Andrew Santino?

I do love that. The shrimps are so cool.

• 40:07Speaker 06

I'm like very like 12 when it comes to like, you know, jewelry, like it's food jewelry. I have like Ritz cracker earrings, things like that, right? So I bring those in. I look insane, right? I'm holding them in my hands, loose. And everyone's talking about their interests. They cut to me, Atsuko, what are you, and Atsuko, we understand as a hobby, you collect jewelry. And I was like, I feel like I've been like forced into talking about this actually. Because I have no interest. This will happen. So now I'm the jewelry girl. I love jewelry. You know what I mean? Like, so I was like, cause everyone else was like, oh, I, I golf or I, I knit.

• 40:45Andrew Santino?

I fish or I knit or yeah, I like to hike or I like to run.

• 40:48Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 40:48Andrew Santino?

You like to do none of this. You like to collect stuff. You like to, you like to buy art and wear it.

• 40:55Speaker 06

Yeah, but that doesn't take up enough time.

• 40:57Andrew Santino?

But let's keep, let's, we can, why don't you start making your own art then? Why don't you make jewelry?

• 41:02Speaker 06

Yeah, I'll, I'll try to be someone else. I've tried, sweetie. Sweetie, I've tried. Okay. I tried planting lettuce. And then I was like, hold on. My husband stopped me. He said, wait, wait. This is not your interest.

• 41:15Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 41:16Speaker 06

And I was like, you're right. This is, I got inspired looking at someone else's Instagram.

• 41:20Andrew Santino?

  Yes.

• 41:21Speaker 06

  You know?

• 41:21Andrew Santino?

  Try to be someone else.

• 41:22Speaker 06

  Oh, yeah.

• 41:23Andrew Santino?

Well, you're you. It's fine. You're unmistakably you.

• 41:26Speaker 06

  Thank you.

• 41:27Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, who cares?

• 41:28Speaker 06

  Father?

• 41:29Andrew Santino?

Watch Father, now on Hulu. Perfect transition.

• 41:32Speaker 06

  Father, doctor, husband.

• 41:34Andrew Santino?

  Is it about your dad?

• 41:35Speaker 06

Um, I talk about my dad a little bit.

• 41:38Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 41:38Speaker 06

But also, you know, a lot of my fans call me mother.

• 41:40Andrew Santino?

  Yes.

• 41:41Speaker 06

And, uh, but moms have it together. So I'm more like-

• 41:45Andrew Santino?

  Some of them.

• 41:45Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 41:46Andrew Santino?

Some people's moms are not together.

• 41:49Speaker 06

For sure. Yes. And mine, and I'm so sorry to hear that, but-

• 41:53Andrew Santino?

  His parents are chaos.

• 41:55Speaker 06

  We have that in common.

• 41:56Andrew Santino?

Yeah. Except you turned out a lot better.

• 41:59Speaker 06

  Is that right?

• 42:00Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 42:01Speaker 06

I don't know. My mom has schizophrenia. And so she wild too. She's, she's wild.

• 42:05Andrew Santino?

  Schizophrenia is interesting, huh?

• 42:07Speaker 06

  Oh, my gosh.

• 42:07Andrew Santino?

When did she discover she was schizophrenic? When was it, was it diagnosed at a certain point in your childhood?

• 42:11Speaker 06

  More diagnosed in my twenties.

• 42:14Andrew Santino?

Oh, not when you were a kid. But you felt it as a kid, huh?

• 42:17Speaker 06

As a kid, I was like, I didn't know what was wrong with her. I thought, I was like, is it a Taiwanese thing?

• 42:22Andrew Santino?

  Right, could be.

• 42:23Speaker 06

My grandma also was like, oh, she's just hungry.

• 42:27Andrew Santino?

She's hungry all the time. We gotta feed her.

• 42:30Speaker 06

Oh, hurry, put, put bread in her mouth. You know, whenever she'd be acting up or being paranoid, hearing things. Look at the, look in the vents for microphones, you know?

• 42:41Andrew Santino?

  She would do that?

• 42:42Speaker 06

Yeah, she's hungry. Oh, sweetie, she's just hungry. And I'm like, really? Cause she just ate.

• 42:48Andrew Santino?

Right. She's, she's eating right now while she's talking about the microphones.

• 42:51Speaker 06

Yeah, I was like, I didn't have other moms to compare her to. I just knew all my friends' moms were not like that.

• 42:58Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 42:59Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 42:59Andrew Santino?

So schizophrenia, she was diagnosed in your twenties, did it make your relationship stronger or, or? More complex.

• 43:07Speaker 06

Um, I think that, oh gosh, maybe, well, at that time, by, by, by my twenties, I was like trying to find a family outside of my family.

• 43:18Andrew Santino?

  Sure.

• 43:18Speaker 06

So I ran off with a boyfriend, you know, when I was seventeen, I left.

• 43:22Andrew Santino?

  Smart.

• 43:22Speaker 06

Cause I was like, oh, I don't, this, this is too much, this, you know, we were living in a garage, my uncle's garage, and a garage is not enough space to hold schizophrenia and a bitch going through puberty. I said, oh, maybe one of those things. You know what, you need space.

• 43:37Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, you did.

• 43:37Speaker 06

I had an eating disorder, you cannot be, we, we barely, we had like one toilet that we had to share, we were sleeping on top of each other.

• 43:44Andrew Santino?

  Wow.

• 43:44Speaker 06

So I was like, okay, I'm, I gotta go, so I was stoked to find a boyfriend.

• 43:48Andrew Santino?

And where'd you guys run off to?

• 43:49Speaker 06

  Uh, Santa Clarita, California.

• 43:52Andrew Santino?

  Wow.

• 43:53Speaker 06

  Not that far.

• 43:54Andrew Santino?

  No.

• 43:54Speaker 06

But it's the suburbs away from West LA where I was.

• 43:58Andrew Santino?

  Where you're from, right?

• 43:59Speaker 06

Yeah, just far enough where it was like, you know, I've, I was suddenly living with that boyfriend and his dad.

• 44:05Andrew Santino?

  Oh, wow.

• 44:05Speaker 06

  Mm-hmm.

• 44:06Andrew Santino?

  Not in a garage.

• 44:07Speaker 06

Not in a garage. I was like, what, this is the life, and, uh, yeah, I didn't know anyone would ever, they made this show, Santa Clarita Diet.

• 44:15Andrew Santino?

  Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 44:17Speaker 06

And a lot of things shoot out there.

• 44:19Andrew Santino?

  What's her, what's that actress?

• 44:20Speaker 06

I'm sure you've shot out there.

• 44:20Andrew Santino?

I've seen that show, I like that show.

• 44:23Speaker 06

Uh, isn't it, is it Drew Barrymore?

• 44:25Andrew Santino?

Barrymore, yeah, what's wrong with me, yeah, Drew Barrymore.

• 44:27Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 44:27Andrew Santino?

And, and, uh, Michael, no, uh.

• 44:30Speaker 05

  Timothy.

• 44:31Andrew Santino?

Timothy Elephant, that's right, Timothy Elephant.

• 44:33Speaker 01

  In here, we pour whiskey.

• 44:36Andrew Santino?

  Ginger. I like gingers.

• 47:03Andrew Santino?

  I like that.

• 47:04Speaker 05

  Oh, and Skylar, Skylar Gazondo.

• 47:07Speaker 06

  Ooh.

• 47:08Speaker 05

  This guy, he's funny.

• 47:09Speaker 06

I've actually never seen that show.

• 47:10Andrew Santino?

The first two is good. No, I do like that kid.

• 47:12Speaker 05

  He's good.

• 47:12Andrew Santino?

Yeah, yeah, he was the kid from Family Vacation, right?

• 47:15Speaker 05

Yeah, he's in Righteous John Jones.

• 47:17Andrew Santino?

  Right, right, right.

• 47:17Speaker 06

I've actually never seen Santa Clarita Day.

• 47:21Andrew Santino?

  It's pretty good.

• 47:21Speaker 06

  Yeah?

• 47:22Andrew Santino?

Yeah, I mean, it was a good show. Well, you know, I don't remember any shows I watch anymore. I remember if I liked them or not. Like, if you're like, give me the whole, give me like the story arcs for Breaking Bad. I'd be like, I don't remember, but I liked it a lot.

• 47:30Speaker 06

Sure, sure, sure. But we kind of know, like, at least, you know, yeah, there was drugs and cartel.

• 47:36Andrew Santino?

Drugs, car wash, yeah, laundromats, you know what I mean? Like, that's kind of how I remember things anymore, because I've seen so much shit.

• 47:42Speaker 06

  Yeah, yeah.

• 47:43Andrew Santino?

You know, like, you watch so much shit that you're like, I don't know, I liked it. Like Barry, I loved Barry. People are like, you really like Barry? I was like, yeah, I loved Barry.

• 47:49Speaker 06

  Mm-hmm.

• 47:49Andrew Santino?

And then they're like, what was your favorite, like, what was your favorite part? It's like, mm, it was good.

• 47:53Speaker 05

It's because of the way we watch TV now. It's all binge.

• 47:56Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, just binge, binge.

• 47:57Speaker 05

  We don't sit with shit.

• 47:58Andrew Santino?

But I will tell you the show that I'm in love with.

• 48:00Speaker 06

  Huh.

• 48:00Andrew Santino?

The best show in television, probably history.

• 48:02Speaker 06

What is it, what is it?

• 48:03Andrew Santino?

  Love on the Spectrum.

• 48:04Speaker 06

Oh, my god, same. Are you kidding?

• 48:06Andrew Santino?

  So good.

• 48:06Speaker 06

  Oh, my god.

• 48:07Andrew Santino?

Hotzko, yes, I would like to.

• 48:09Speaker 06

James, I'm like, oh, we're doing, we're doing impressions.

• 48:12Andrew Santino?

See you again. Yeah. Uh, okay, that's James, you knocked it out. How about this one? How about? Hotzko, I've been so.

• 48:20Speaker 06

  We love Connor.

• 48:21Andrew Santino?

  Love Connor.

• 48:22Speaker 06

  We love Connor.

• 48:23Andrew Santino?

Waiting for you. I like when he has to stumble through, when he'll go, it's been so long since I've seen you.

• 48:29Speaker 06

  Oh.

• 48:30Andrew Santino?

  Oh, I love Connor.

• 48:31Speaker 06

  Connor of the old world.

• 48:32Andrew Santino?

  Of the old world, yes.

• 48:33Speaker 06

That's how I found out what old world meant.

• 48:35Andrew Santino?

Falcon Ridge. That's what my, my, my home will be called.

• 48:41Speaker 06

Who are you most like? Who, who do you connect to on the show?

• 48:46Andrew Santino?

  That's really interesting.

• 48:47Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 48:47Andrew Santino?

I'll tell you who I, you know who I absolutely love? Yes, Cal, yes, I know so mu- yes, I love you so much. I love, oh, yes, you look good, you look good, you do look good, yes.

• 48:54Speaker 06

Yeah, Tanner. He's like a cheerleader. He's a cheerleader, always very positive.

• 48:59Andrew Santino?

He's also very aware of his feelings. What I find so interesting, I said this the other night to my wife, I was like, it's funny to see how. truthful they are to their actual feelings and how when we date people we play the game and you do the thing and whatever you like like one of the first dates we ever went on was to Pinkberry she like my wife like Pinkberry I fucking hate Pinkberry and I was like oh I love I fucking hate it but but the beauty of the autistic kids is they will literally go I don't like I don't like Pinkberry

• 49:29Speaker 06

  Right

• 49:30Andrew Santino?

and it's great it's like we should all be have the balls to be like I don't want to have that but I'm I'll go with you if that's okay but why do we eat it to lie to placate

• 49:37Speaker 06

because we want to be normal and there are these

• 49:40Andrew Santino?

but how ironic is it that they're more normal by telling the truth we're actually becoming we're we're we're being abnormal

• 49:46Speaker 06

  Yeah

• 49:46Andrew Santino?

by lying about what we really like and dislike and they're being more normal

• 49:50Speaker 06

  Right

• 49:50Andrew Santino?

normal quote unquote honest to go I don't want to watch that and they just say it instead of like I'll go to the movie and sit through it

• 49:58Speaker 06

so then it's about them going these are my boundaries and then how do I fit into the world that has rules right

• 50:03Andrew Santino?

Yeah we need to do that

• 50:05Speaker 06

okay so if I can't be quiet at a library then I I'm not a library person and that's okay

• 50:10Andrew Santino?

  Yes

• 50:10Speaker 06

you know and I read at home or I you know and so I think about this all the time with my mom too you know when the pandemic happened um and we all got locked down you know we we were all down and depressed my mom was thriving she was thriving she was like what because she doesn't leave the house

• 50:29Andrew Santino?

  Right

• 50:30Speaker 06

she has paranoia she has no friends you know she hasn't worked a job she has tremors she gets seizures it's just hard for her and so when she found out we were all locked down it was all like finally she had a community it was like we're I've been locked down I've been inside you mean we're all we're all experiencing inside right now

• 50:48Andrew Santino?

  Wow

• 50:48Speaker 06

you know what I mean she she felt normal and it's about that you know where it's like oh yeah and my mom's paranoia she's not wrong

• 50:56Andrew Santino?

Well the the microphones in the vents probably are wrong

• 50:59Speaker 06

the government I I have to be like no mom the government isn't listening to our conversations She's right.

• 51:07Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, she is.

• 51:08Speaker 06

Our phones, be careful, you know, they kind of know. But to overcompensate, I have to be, I have to tell her she's wrong and crazy. So that she would just act normal. But she's right.

• 51:19Andrew Santino?

  She is.

• 51:20Speaker 06

She's like, you know, the vaccine has killed people. You know, there was like a nurse. And I have to be the insane person being like, just so that she would get the shot. I have to be like, you know why that nurse died, Mom? Because she was a weak person. And you know what you are? You're not weak.

• 51:38Andrew Santino?

  You're very strong.

• 51:39Speaker 06

I'm saying insane things about this poor woman who did die from the vaccine.

• 51:42Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 51:42Speaker 06

But like, and she's not wrong, you know? I have to tell her things like that. But again, like, you know, she's the first one in our family, for example, who was like, the church is all BS, it's just an excuse to this and that and take your money. And we're like, she's insane, right? Like, she was right.

• 51:59Andrew Santino?

She was right. What other, what other grand ideas did she have that, that you see as you grow older, you're like, that was actually pretty true, too?

• 52:05Speaker 06

Oh, gosh, you know, oh, well, this is very like, it's like Taiwan politics. But one of her big paranoias is that China, from the beginning, that China was gonna want Taiwan back.

• 52:15Andrew Santino?

  And she, she called it.

• 52:16Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 52:17Andrew Santino?

She's more of like a, what do they call them, like a soothsayer, yeah.

• 52:19Speaker 06

  Oh, my gosh, yeah, witch.

• 52:20Andrew Santino?

  She sees into the future.

• 52:21Speaker 06

But we have to always, you know, and I've stopped doing that, like, watching Love on the Spectrum, for example, I'm like, yeah, you just gotta, like, why was I trying to, like, water her down? When she's, she's right, and, you know, just let her be who she is. But we just need to, it's about figuring out how she can live in the, in the world.

• 52:40Andrew Santino?

  How do you position her?

• 52:41Speaker 06

  Yeah, right?

• 52:42Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, to win.

• 52:42Speaker 06

Yeah, and the more people realize what's going on, the more it's normalized, it's easier.

• 52:47Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 52:47Speaker 06

Because, right, don't you think if you saw an autistic person out on the bound in the world, you could identify it easier than before?

• 52:53Andrew Santino?

I work with one now. We have a whole studio filled with them. I mean, literally, our entire staff is autistic, and I mean that, it's pretty remarkable. It's actually a requirement when you fill out an application.

• 53:03Speaker 06

Well, you start going, hey, I think actually all my friends are. After watching the show, too.

• 53:08Andrew Santino?

Yeah, you go, God, I know, a lot of people like this.

• 53:10Speaker 06

  I'm like, I am Tanner.

• 53:11Andrew Santino?

Yeah, yeah. Who do you identify with?

• 53:14Speaker 06

  Oh, I, I really.

• 53:15Andrew Santino?

Are you an Abby, are you a?

• 53:17Speaker 06

I identify with Tanner a lot.

• 53:19Andrew Santino?

  Oh, you like Tanner, okay.

• 53:20Speaker 06

  I'm cheerleader energy, actually.

• 53:21Andrew Santino?

You are, yeah, you are very upbeat.

• 53:22Speaker 06

I like being like, yes, and, you know, I don't want anyone to feel like an outsider, or like, feel like, you know, you're a freak.

• 53:28Andrew Santino?

  You're a people pleaser.

• 53:30Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 53:30Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, you are, that's good.

• 53:32Speaker 06

Yeah, and so I'm very like that.

• 53:35Speaker 06

Yeah, I'm gonna try to guess which one you are.

• 53:38Andrew Santino?

Yeah, I don't know. I think I'm probably closest to like, um.

• 53:44Andrew Santino?

  Probably Connor.

• 53:45Speaker 06

Yeah, you're like a Connor or Tanner?

• 53:47Andrew Santino?

Yeah, like a Con- yeah, Connor Tanner, a combination.

• 53:49Speaker 06

Tanner is like your outward when you're like hanging out, when you're hosting a podcast, right? You have to be a yes and person.

• 53:55Andrew Santino?

Totally, totally, totally. Yeah, yeah, yes you do, yes you do. Let's go, yeah, I do.

• 53:59Speaker 06

See, and I, I feel it.

• 54:00Andrew Santino?

But when I'm at home, that's the way I like things. I am that way. When I'm at home, I like things the way I like them. Like I have, um, uh, I got it from my dad too. It's, uh, what is it called? Uh, OCD, yeah. I have that. Mine's pretty bad.

• 54:17Speaker 06

  Yeah?

• 54:18Andrew Santino?

Yeah, it's pretty bad. I need to have a particular grasp on how things are laid out and how things, the way things look. It's a little strange.

• 54:27Speaker 06

  Just organized.

• 54:28Andrew Santino?

I like it to be put away.

• 54:30Speaker 06

  Structured.

• 54:31Andrew Santino?

I like it to be put away. Yeah, I don't know why I like it so much. I need structure. I think it's just because I grew up with it, so I, it makes me feel like things are okay. Even if they're totally fucking not.

• 54:41Speaker 06

I didn't grow up with, uh, that.

• 54:43Andrew Santino?

  Any structure.

• 54:44Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 54:44Andrew Santino?

Yeah, you grew up with a-

• 54:45Speaker 06

  So I thrive in chaos.

• 54:47Andrew Santino?

  You like chaos.

• 54:47Speaker 06

  Mm-hmm.

• 54:48Andrew Santino?

But you still have your life so much together.

• 54:50Speaker 06

Uh, I've had to learn to do that because too many, like, uh, failed things.

• 54:55Andrew Santino?

Too many failed attempts at things, yeah.

• 54:56Speaker 06

Too many being late to things, too many, you know, maybe losing a job or something.

• 55:00Andrew Santino?

Well, you were on time here, first of all.

• 55:03Speaker 06

  Oh, my gosh.

• 55:04Andrew Santino?

And your career is very, very good. So obviously you're putting in a lot of effort to like make things happen.

• 55:10Speaker 06

  Right, right.

• 55:10Andrew Santino?

  You're not a lazy person.

• 55:12Speaker 06

When it comes to like certain things, like stand-up, yeah. But then, you know, like, my keys will still sometimes be in like a pile of, like, amongst the pile of clothes. But I'll know where it is because chaos.

• 55:24Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, chaos.

• 55:25Speaker 06

My husband has ADD, uh, dyslexia. He can only see one out of one eye, and so he needs things to be organized.

• 55:31Andrew Santino?

Is he blind in one eye?

• 55:33Speaker 06

  He is, yeah.

• 55:33Andrew Santino?

  What happened?

• 55:34Speaker 06

  From my injury, eye injury.

• 55:35Andrew Santino?

So his nutsack and his eye. I'm gonna put this together over how he was injured and who did this to him.

• 55:40Speaker 06

  Yes, yes.

• 55:41Andrew Santino?

Was he in Ja- was he in the filming of The Jackass, the original Jackass one? Get kicked in the nuts and blinded by Steveo?

• 55:47Speaker 06

  Then maybe we'd have-

• 55:48Andrew Santino?

  Yeah dude!

• 55:49Speaker 06

Then maybe we'd have like residuals or something.

• 55:51Andrew Santino?

Yeah, something would be coming in.

• 55:52Speaker 06

  To pay for these-

• 55:53Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 55:54Speaker 06

  Precautions.

• 55:54Andrew Santino?

What happened to his eye, if you care to share?

• 55:56Speaker 06

A light bulb, a light bulb exploded and then one of the glass pieces like landed in the eye.

• 56:02Andrew Santino?

Just exploded? Is this Final Destination?

• 56:05Speaker 06

  Remember Spencer's?

• 56:07Andrew Santino?

  Gifts?

• 56:07Speaker 06

  Gifts.

• 56:08Andrew Santino?

Oh, loved a good Spencer's in the mall.

• 56:09Speaker 06

And they, but they sell, sell wild things that maybe aren't always like, like, okay, so like lava lamps?

• 56:15Andrew Santino?

  Loved.

• 56:16Speaker 06

  They get really hot.

• 56:18Andrew Santino?

Sure, they sure do. There's a light, there's a big light heating up that lava and that burst.

• 56:22Speaker 06

Yeah, it's dangerous. You gotta be careful.

• 56:25Andrew Santino?

Really? I've never heard that in the history of lava lamps. We used to leave mine on for like hours and hours and hours and hours.

• 56:29Speaker 06

I think it was the other lava lamp or like a, uh, what is it called? Like a dark lamp? I'll, I'll ask him.

• 56:35Andrew Santino?

  Black, like a black light?

• 56:36Speaker 06

Black light, maybe. That, those get hot too.

• 56:39Andrew Santino?

I mean, if you leave anything on long enough, it's gonna get hot, I guess, right?

• 56:42Speaker 06

And then something about moisture, maybe it was like a piece of, like, like water gone on it, something like that.

• 56:47Andrew Santino?

It sounds like something else happened to him and he just told you that story to be like, "Yeah, it was a lava lamp, I guess." That's not really what happened, yeah.

• 56:54Speaker 06

One of those things, but it exploded across the room.

• 56:56Andrew Santino?

  Dyslexic and blind.

• 56:58Speaker 05

It says lava lamps can explode, although it's not a common occurrence. They are pressurized and excessive heat can cause the glass to shatter.

• 57:04Andrew Santino?

Ironic because heat and pressure are exactly what makes the lava move.

• 57:08Speaker 05

Yeah, it says leaving it on too long, placing it on a location that's already hot. Or like, it says like placing it on a hot stove top, but who would?

• 57:16Andrew Santino?

I remember my mom said to me, she was like, "Why do you like that stupid lava lamp so much?" And I was like, "I really enjoy the..."

• 57:23Speaker 06

  This is your corner. Mom!

• 57:25Andrew Santino?

  I like it.

• 57:26Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 57:26Andrew Santino?

Because I've smoked weed today, yeah.

• 57:29Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 57:29Andrew Santino?

That's why, because I would get stoned and sit in my room and, and I'd like the colors, you know?

• 57:33Speaker 06

Yeah, no one can take your joy.

• 57:35Andrew Santino?

Nobody can take, well, a lot of people are trying, I'll tell you that, including him and a bunch of other people that are a part of my life right now are taking my joy.

• 57:41Speaker 06

You let him talk to you like this and you, you, this is a free, right? You do this for free, is that?

• 57:46Andrew Santino?

No, he gets paid. Let me tell you something. Where were you at 25 again? Were you living in a garage at 25?

• 57:51Speaker 06

No, no. I was in Santa Clarita, California.

• 57:54Andrew Santino?

With that guy? So this guy lives alone at 25 years old. So I've supported this young man, I've given him the world, he's my son, I treat him as such. I even say that, he's checking into a hotel tonight, and when I call, I say, "My son's gonna check in before I get there."

• 58:06Speaker 06

  Oh, yes.

• 58:07Andrew Santino?

I refer to him as my son. I've actually, I asked for his blessing from his father. Because I don't have any kids, I feel like I have to raise a few people around me. Bobby being one of them, as a 52-year-old man.

• 58:16Speaker 06

  Yes, that's very, very sweet.

• 58:17Andrew Santino?

  He's my oldest son.

• 58:18Speaker 06

Yeah. You know, we have chosen family, and this is it.

• 58:21Andrew Santino?

  This is my chosen family.

• 58:22Speaker 06

  This is your chosen family.

• 58:22Andrew Santino?

And stand-up and your husband are your chosen family.

• 58:25Speaker 06

  Yes, yeah, and, yes.

• 58:26Andrew Santino?

And you're two-for-two there, man. You're a great stand-up, and you got a cool husband, so I think you win the war.

• 58:30Speaker 06

  Wow, thank you.

• 58:31Andrew Santino?

It's almost over for you, it's, you're done.

• 58:32Speaker 06

This is a war, this competition of who's got a cooler family.

• 58:36Andrew Santino?

Well, life is war, right? Life is, life is, life is a war of attrition, it's how, can you keep going during all the bullshit?

• 58:42Speaker 06

Yeah, we're really resilient as humans.

• 58:44Andrew Santino?

Well, you're much more than I am, for sure. Yeah, I'm gonna break down any minute now.

• 58:48Speaker 06

Oh, but considering, you know, pollen alone can take us down, right?

• 58:51Andrew Santino?

  It's happening right now.

• 58:52Speaker 06

We just kept figuring it out, "Oh, allergy pills," you know what I mean?

• 58:55Andrew Santino?

Right, we've, we've, yeah, we've managed to kinda duck and dive all the things that wanna kill us.

• 58:59Speaker 06

Right, sober January, you know, like with the spiritual stuff, stones, rocks, whatever you carry to make you feel better.

• 59:07Andrew Santino?

And what do you carry to make you feel better?

• 59:08Speaker 06

Oh, I do have a rock in my backpack.

• 59:11Andrew Santino?

  You do?

• 59:11Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 59:12Andrew Santino?

I have a little stone that my dad gave me as well, I travel, I always do live sho, when I do live shows, I have it on me.

• 59:16Speaker 06

  Are we twins?

• 59:17Andrew Santino?

Did you know about this, my stone?

• 59:18Speaker 05

  No.

• 59:19Andrew Santino?

My dad gave me a stone, and I keep it in my pocket, particularly when I do tapings. They take it on the road for me, but if I do any sort of taping whatsoever, I keep the stone in my pocket.

• 59:27Speaker 06

But it's small enough, it doesn't show.

• 59:29Andrew Santino?

It is extremely tiny, you would never even see, it's ve, and it's very flat, it's like a, it's like a lake stone, you know, like a skipping stone.

• 59:34Speaker 06

  Okay, okay, it's smooth.

• 59:35Andrew Santino?

  It's very smooth.

• 59:36Speaker 06

Yeah, 'cause if it was sharp, you'd see it sometimes in your performance.

• 59:39Andrew Santino?

Right, right, yeah, I'd nudge up against it.

• 59:41Speaker 06

  Right, right, right.

• 59:42Andrew Santino?

What's in the bag, by the way? I have to know.

• 59:45Andrew Santino?

Tell me, what's in the bag?

• 59:47Speaker 06

It is, it is fun tea from Taiwan.

• 59:51Andrew Santino?

  Tea from Taiwan!

• 59:53Speaker 06

Yeah, it's tea bags. And each of them is an animal. It's an animal. Speaking of animals and petting, you know, an elephant one day for you and me.

• 1:00:01Andrew Santino?

Is that a, okay, so it goes, it's a panda then, is that a platypus? What is that below a panda?

• 1:00:05Speaker 06

I feel like that's actually a crane, which is, you know, a very Asian bird.

• 1:00:09Andrew Santino?

Okay, then a monkey, and then a deer, and then a bear itself. This is the best part about Asian stuff. Is that it's allowed to be as fun as it should be.

• 1:00:19Speaker 06

  Yes!

• 1:00:19Andrew Santino?

  And this is for adults.

• 1:00:21Speaker 06

  A hundred percent.

• 1:00:21Andrew Santino?

Whereas in America, we, we make adult shit look like an adult stuff. Like, tea in the States, boring. They don't do this. For this, immediately the assumption is, it's for kids. In Taiwan, it's for adults.

• 1:00:35Speaker 06

Yeah. It's just being your true self. We're always trying to be back to our childlike self. You know, everything, if you think about, all the adult stuff is very childlike. Golf is a childlike idea.

• 1:00:46Andrew Santino?

  It's a sport, it's a little game. It's a stupid little game.

• 1:00:48Speaker 06

It's a childlike idea. Oh, how do I, like, you know, just chill with friends and like, kinda like, call it a sport? We need a lot of land, a lot of land.

• 1:00:56Andrew Santino?

  A lot of land.

• 1:00:57Speaker 06

Lot of land. That's like a childlike idea.

• 1:01:00Andrew Santino?

And play outside all day, for hours.

• 1:01:02Speaker 06

Yeah. What would rich people do to show their rich? A lot of land.

• 1:01:06Andrew Santino?

  A lot of land.

• 1:01:06Speaker 06

  We need land, you know?

• 1:01:08Andrew Santino?

We need to own it. We need to take it from whoever had it and own it.

• 1:01:12Speaker 06

Yeah. It's like, oh, you know, to make something look adult, you're supposed to take away all the color in something? That's a very childlike way to think. That's what being an adult is like.

• 1:01:21Andrew Santino?

  Without color?

• 1:01:22Speaker 06

We're just, yes, this, this minimal gray design is tea.

• 1:01:28Andrew Santino?

  Right, boring, straightforward. Meanwhile...

• 1:01:30Speaker 06

  Yeah, meanwhile, it's like...

• 1:01:32Andrew Santino?

The party's here, dude. I'll tell you, tonight I'm gonna have myself a panda when I get home.

• 1:01:37Speaker 06

  Please!

• 1:01:37Andrew Santino?

I might actually have, I might have a monkey.

• 1:01:39Speaker 06

You and your wife giggle and go, "Which animal are you?"

• 1:01:42Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:43Speaker 06

"Which character in Love on Spectrum are you?"

• 1:01:45Andrew Santino?

Well, she's the deer, for sure.

• 1:01:47Speaker 06

  She is?

• 1:01:48Andrew Santino?

She's a deer, soft, sweet, subtle, very powerful, and yet just subtle and soft to the eye. And I'm closer to the platypus, because, um... It's as ugly as you thought it was gonna be.

• 1:01:59Speaker 06

Wait, so is she, your wife's more like a David from Love on the Spectrum, maybe? Love on the, David is very, very sweet.

• 1:02:04Andrew Santino?

That's exactly right. Very sweet, very like Karen, very like, uh...

• 1:02:07Speaker 06

Like when you do something sweet.

• 1:02:08Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 1:02:09Speaker 06

  Like, maybe she's very...

• 1:02:10Andrew Santino?

  Thank you, Abby!

• 1:02:11Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 1:02:12Andrew Santino?

Yeah, he's very polite. God, if you haven't seen the show, by the way, and this episode will have come out when it's all over. I've seen all the episodes of this season and I can't wait for another one. It's the only kind of content Netflix should be making.

• 1:02:22Speaker 06

It's the feel-good, you know, everyone wants love and you see it in the show and you see honesty. And there is a song on the show this season that stays with me. Stays with me.

• 1:02:34Andrew Santino?

Oh, it'll shake your world. Um, listen, I appreciate you coming over to our show. I thank you for the teacup. It's been enlightening and wonderful as usual. I want my friends and family and people and loved ones and Whiskey Ginger fans, please go watch her special. It's available right now on Hulu, the same platform that I'll be on later in the year.

• 1:02:53Speaker 06

And then ours will also be avail, it's also available on Disney Plus internationally.

• 1:02:57Andrew Santino?

Disney Plus, because of the package, right. So everyone around the world can watch. Uh, watch Father right now and spread the word. Tell everybody else about it. Uh, let this Hulu train keep rolling because we want to find other outlets to have comedy appear all over the world.

• 1:03:10Speaker 06

  Yes.

• 1:03:11Andrew Santino?

Um, thank you for being here. You look amazing. I just realized we're both wearing the same kind of tonal shirt. Like, it's the same kind of cream and then you're orange and I'm orange up here. So we actually kind of oddly match.

• 1:03:20Speaker 06

  Yeah.

• 1:03:21Andrew Santino?

Uh, we end the show the same way. You look into that camera, you're single, and you say one word or one phrase to end the episode. Some people do a word, some people do a phrase of wisdom, but whenever you're ready.

• 1:03:31Speaker 06

  Yes.

• 1:03:33Speaker 06

  Orange.

• 1:03:35Speaker 01

In here, we pour whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey.

• 1:03:40Speaker 02

You're that creature in the ginger beard!

• 1:03:43Speaker 03

  It's dirty and ginger.

• 1:03:44Speaker 04

Like vampires, the ginger gene is a curse. Gingers are beautiful.

• 1:03:48Speaker 03

You owe me five dollars for the whiskey, seventy-five dollars for the horse. Ginger, oh hell no. This whiskey is excellent.

• 1:03:56Speaker 02

  Ginger. I like gingers.
