In here, we pour whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey.

• 1:43Speaker 05

Who's that creature in the ginger beard?

• 1:45Speaker 06

  Sturdy and ginger.

• 1:47Speaker 05

Like vampires, the ginger gene is a curse.

• 1:49Speaker 06

Gingers are beautiful. You owe me $5 for the whiskey and $75 for the horse. Ginger, oh hell no. This whiskey is excellent. Ginger. I like gingers.

• 2:02Andrew Santino?

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Whiskey Dinner. My guest today is one of my favorite people on earth. I say that for all my guests, but I mean it once again today. It's Tim Heidecker.

• 2:08Speaker 07

  Well said.

• 2:09Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, was that smooth?

• 2:10Speaker 07

Well, the name pronunciation was right on the money.

• 2:12Andrew Santino?

Tim Heidecker. I really love, uh, Office Hours Live.

• 2:15Speaker 07

  Thank you.

• 2:16Andrew Santino?

  Very funny.

• 2:17Speaker 07

  Thank you.

• 2:17Andrew Santino?

It's just good, it's just a, it is like, um, what new age talk shows should be.

• 2:23Speaker 07

  Uh, new age?

• 2:24Andrew Santino?

Yeah, and this, I mean, like, that's what we should have transitioned.

• 2:28Speaker 07

Not like pan flutes and things.

• 2:30Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 2:30Speaker 07

That's what I think of when I hear new age.

• 2:33Andrew Santino?

  New age.

• 2:33Speaker 07

  Spiritual.

• 2:35Andrew Santino?

I just think now, I can't believe we're still doing, like, I did think they were gonna move away from the old format of like, late night talk shows or talk shows.

• 2:43Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 2:44Andrew Santino?

And when Taylor Tomlinson got her show, initially I was like, oh, cool, she'll do like, but then they did kind of the at midnight format.

• 2:50Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 2:50Andrew Santino?

But I thought for some reason they were gonna let her like, do her own thing, but I imagine, like, anything, you get into it and then they're like,

• 2:55Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 2:55Andrew Santino?

we'd like to do what we've always done.

• 2:57Speaker 07

Well, the problem is, like, if, I'm a big Letterman fan.

• 3:01Andrew Santino?

  Love.

• 3:02Speaker 07

  Old Letterman, I mean,

• 3:03Andrew Santino?

I like him now more than ever.

• 3:05Speaker 07

I actually don't like him now.

• 3:06Andrew Santino?

  I know, it's so weird.

• 3:07Speaker 07

  It's annoying.

• 3:08Andrew Santino?

It's almost like you don't wanna see him more now.

• 3:09Speaker 07

Yeah, um, I mean, I'm gonna try to tamp my shit talking during this show.

• 3:13Andrew Santino?

  No, no, no.

• 3:14Speaker 07

Cause I tend to get, people think I'm kinda bitter, but I have opinions, what are you gonna do?

• 3:18Andrew Santino?

  Give me the opinion.

• 3:18Speaker 07

But, um, you look at old Letterman and it felt like chaos.

• 3:23Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 3:24Speaker 07

It felt like things were barely hanging on.

• 3:26Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 3:27Speaker 07

Uh, there was a silliness to it, there was like a, uh, irreverence to it, it felt like, it was on 12:30 at night and it felt like no one was watching, so they were just playing.

• 3:36Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 3:37Speaker 07

And that's kind of what we try to do on our show, uh, and it's really fun. I think where it runs into problems, because it's live and Vic and Doug are just like pulling stuff off the internet in real time.

• 3:51Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 3:51Speaker 07

It's like, there's no filter, there's no, we constantly get demonetized for playing Beatles songs.

• 3:57Andrew Santino?

Music, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, banning you for a Taylor Swift song or something.

• 4:01Speaker 07

Yeah, so I don't know if it would work at 12:30 on CBS, you know, but, uh, I mean, Stern is like that too. Stern always had that feeling of, There you're listening in on a private conversation.

• 4:12Andrew Santino?

Well, give me the truth about Stern. Do you like him now still after all these years?

• 4:15Speaker 07

Um, I don't listen quite as much. It's not the whatever, you know, the woke Stern.

• 4:23Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, sure, sure, sure.

• 4:24Speaker 07

Uh, I just don't listen as much and I don't think, I do think it's gotten a little, the world's gotten a little smaller there.

• 4:32Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 4:33Speaker 07

For instance, I mean, I'll turn, I'll tune in and I'll hear like, oh, it's Ronnie again. Uh, this is getting, this is getting really inside.

• 4:40Andrew Santino?

  No, but people know.

• 4:41Speaker 07

And I'll be like, I'm kinda, I'm done with Ronnie and if there's not gonna be anything else. And there's just like new characters and stuff. I don't know, I guess I kinda, I still think he does a great interview, like. He did an interview with, with Paul Simon that I think was fantastic.

• 4:54Andrew Santino?

Yeah. His interviews are great. I just think it's funny, we joke about it on this is like, you know, he talked heavy shit about podcasting, how this was kind of.

• 5:01Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 5:02Andrew Santino?

Never gonna be a real thing and you're like, you couldn't be further off.

• 5:05Speaker 07

  Right.

• 5:05Andrew Santino?

And also, I just find the hypocrisy a little annoying that, I don't care about the political stances that he takes so adamantly on the show. But I do think it's fucking comically ironic that you're like, didn't you used to make girls come on a sibian?

• 5:19Speaker 07

  Yes, well, I mean.

• 5:21Andrew Santino?

And then there's this weird like, he would ask every female guest, be like, did that guy suck your tits?

• 5:26Speaker 07

I think what's interesting about him is that he shows, he shows that you can change.

• 5:31Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, you can, for sure.

• 5:32Speaker 07

And that's kinda like, there's a lot of people who will definitely die stuck in the mud on what they're, what they've created, right?

• 5:39Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, it's true.

• 5:40Speaker 07

So he, I don't know how, I think there's, I'm sure, I mean, if they're, I don't know, this is terrible, but there's probably, um, terrible things growing inside of all the people on that show.

• 5:53Speaker 07

This like, this like sickness that created.

• 5:56Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 5:56Speaker 07

Uh, from all the years of the, the silly, the, the shit that they did, but. You know, I, I will still dip in. I don't think, uh, it's something I, you know, and also his like life of like living in the basement of his place in, in, in the Hamptons.

• 6:13Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 6:13Speaker 07

He did shout out my stand-up special.

• 6:16Andrew Santino?

  Did he?

• 6:16Speaker 07

  Which was pretty exciting.

• 6:17Andrew Santino?

That's pretty cool. Now, I got a lot of respect for everybody over there. I like a lot of guys that are a part of that universe.

• 6:22Speaker 07

  I do, I do.

• 6:22Andrew Santino?

It's just, it's just an interesting transition.

• 6:24Speaker 07

  Phone calls are fantastic.

• 6:24Andrew Santino?

Yeah, they're fantastic. That Kill Tony, uh, what, uh, Howard Walk, so Kill Tony could run and employ the most, um, broken people live on air. It's like, how do you find the most shattered? That was like, did you ever know Don Barris's Ding Dong Show?

• 6:41Speaker 07

Yeah, yeah, a little bit, yeah.

• 6:43Andrew Santino?

Had the same kind of like, where do you even find? These are, what, like, you guys have done such a good job over the years. I'm gonna compliment you a bunch and I know you probably don't want it, but I don't care.

• 6:51Speaker 07

Oh, I need it, I need it.

• 6:52Andrew Santino?

Okay, here you go. Uh, great shoes, great legs. First of all, great legs when you walked in, dude. I saw those stems. I go, this guy. The strides, the gait was perfect. Yeah, you really are a big walker. You've been walking for a long time now.

• 7:03Speaker 07

Since, I think since I was two.

• 7:05Andrew Santino?

That's wild. No, but I think, uh, what you guys have done so well is, you know, like the casting that you guys were able to put together sometimes is so remarkable. It's, it was so unique. I think you were like, in my opinion, the first people I saw to really do that in a way where it felt super organic and it was uncomfortably comfortable. It was like perfectly uncomfortable.

• 7:26Speaker 07

Yeah, I mean, our coming to this town, we're, we're in Hollywood.

• 7:32Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 7:32Speaker 07

  I don't know if we're in Hollywood.

• 7:33Andrew Santino?

We're in, we're in the valley now, baby.

• 7:36Speaker 07

  Showbiz land.

• 7:36Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, showbiz town.

• 7:37Speaker 07

Uh, we, we just want to, there's, there's such a pool of, um, people who might have, uh, gone to a casting agent and then submitted a headshot and then forgot about it.

• 7:52Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 7:53Speaker 07

  Type of people.

• 7:56Andrew Santino?

  Exactly.

• 7:56Speaker 07

Uh, just, I mean, and more, I mean, that's, uh, That that might seem a little cruel, but it was more about finding people that you didn't see on television ever.

• 8:07Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 8:07Speaker 07

You know, and finding, um, we didn't really, as much as we like liked sketch comedy, um, we didn't want to see like UCB actors in our show.

• 8:18Andrew Santino?

  Okay, faces that were recognizable.

• 8:20Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 8:20Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 8:20Speaker 07

I I think, or not even recognizable, but just like, if we were gonna cast an old man, we were gonna cast an old man. We weren't gonna find some UCB kid and put a wig on him and put makeup on him, you know, we're just gonna try to get real. The way that like, you know, in a Scorsese movie or in, I don't know, in a Woody Allen movie or something like that, these, you felt like these were real people.

• 8:42Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 8:43Speaker 07

Um, and that's kind of where it started, but then we got, you know, then we got addicted to it.

• 8:48Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 8:50Speaker 07

We gotta find really strange people, really interesting people, people that don't really fit the mar, the mold, aren't maybe like, you know, um, trained actors and

• 9:00Andrew Santino?

  Sure.

• 9:00Speaker 07

And just, and and use them as like clay in a sculpture mode as opposed to finding comedians.

• 9:08Andrew Santino?

What I find so fascinating about you, again, I'm I'm kind of kissing your ring a little bit, but I do think it's, what's fascinating is like, you're able to touch the commercial world, you know, you're able to do commercial stuff, right? Like commercial TV you've done before, right, you know? But then also you stay super subversive and to do both is really difficult. I don't think there's like a handful of people in our world that can do both, and I think you've done a a great job. Um, Eric, on the other hand, not at all, terrible, awful.

• 9:34Speaker 07

  No, not on any level.

• 9:37Andrew Santino?

No, it is funny how you've been able to do that. I think that's always impressive to me. When I see people touch both faces, you're like, that's, it's hard to do.

• 9:43Speaker 07

Yeah, I mean, there's no plan for it. I think I'm lucky in some opportunities I've been given that just people, you know, writers or directors or something are are fans or see what I can do and and have the sort of creative ability or the the the control to cast who they want, so I get to be in certain things. I never feel a part of that world ever, even when I'm in it, you know, I mean, no one really probably does.

• 10:09Andrew Santino?

  I feel so foreign.

• 10:10Speaker 07

Tom Hanks probably doesn't, or maybe he's the one guy that does.

• 10:13Andrew Santino?

I think he feels pretty good. I think I feel so uncomfortable when I go to any of the spaces. I just feel like I don't belong. Like I, I didn't, I didn't, you know, I'm a stand-up. I didn't go to, uh, formal training. So I just feel like a, a phony.

• 10:25Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 10:26Andrew Santino?

And I'll work really hard for them, but.

• 10:28Speaker 07

Do you find that like you found, sometimes you, uh, get caught, not caught, but you get an opportunity that to, to be in that world? And you, you find that you don't have the skills to do it? Like, like how are you with memorizing lines?

• 10:43Andrew Santino?

That's, uh, that is, uh, that is oddly enough, like the skill that I am very good at.

• 10:49Speaker 07

Oh, well, then that's all you need to know.

• 10:50Andrew Santino?

Yeah, but, but then the forcible like.

• 10:53Speaker 07

Stand where, stand here and say the things.

• 10:54Andrew Santino?

Say what we told you to say. But the, um, but the uncomfortable thing is when I, when I know I'm working across someone that's like very, you know, that was like went to Tisch or, you know what I mean? Like if you're like really classically trained or you're, you've got such a, like a wealth of experience. I do get super intimidated and nervous because I'm like, these people are going to see through me. They're like, you're a loser hack that they hired for the day. And that, and that can't, that's hard to escape because you're like, even if they're like, hey, good, good job in that scene. You're like, they didn't mean it.

• 11:23Speaker 07

Well, the other, those people are way more intimidated by you, I would guess.

• 11:27Andrew Santino?

Well, ma- maybe upfront and then they do a scene and then they're like, nevermind. This guy's crap. What are we talking about?

• 11:33Speaker 07

  Right.

• 11:34Andrew Santino?

No, but you, you've done a, a great job dancing in those worlds, but I, like, my question is because I'm, I'm not as familiar with you, only just your work. I don't know, like your history of, are you like a film school guy? Did you go there? You did. You went to film school.

• 11:45Speaker 07

Yeah. I mean, I started, uh, before film school, I wanted to be an actor and I grew up like, you know, performing in plays and, and goofing off in the basement and, you know.

• 11:57Andrew Santino?

God bless basements. That's an east coast thing, baby.

• 11:59Speaker 07

  Oh, that's right. Yeah.

• 12:00Andrew Santino?

They don't have those. It's so weird. So foreign. When you see one out here, I'm like, look at this.

• 12:04Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 12:04Andrew Santino?

Look at this. They got it downstairs.

• 12:06Speaker 07

It's an earthquake, earthquake issue or something.

• 12:08Andrew Santino?

I think someone else told me it was did the rock, bedrock too. Something about the rock out here is so hard and it's not easy to go down. Yeah, they're just like.

• 12:14Speaker 07

  Plenty of pools though.

• 12:15Andrew Santino?

Yeah, that's true, but that's probably a lot easier to dig than foundation of a home, maybe to frame it on a, I don't know.

• 12:20Speaker 07

Well, I think we should talk about this for the rest of the podcast.

• 12:22Andrew Santino?

Let's do that. So guys, write in if you guys know anything about digging pools versus.

• 12:25Speaker 07

  People speculate.

• 12:26Andrew Santino?

I know, like we don't know. No, but they don't have, they just, you know what I think it is?

• 12:30Speaker 07

Also, there's a thing under my leg right now that would tell us, but I'm not going to go to that.

• 12:33Andrew Santino?

  That's, and he can research.

• 12:34Speaker 07

  It's soil conditions.

• 12:35Andrew Santino?

It's soil conditions. There it is.

• 12:36Speaker 07

  But why pools?

• 12:39Speaker 00

Let's be honest, you don't go to the family holiday gift exchange just to participate. You go to win. This year, get a gift that'll cause a stir. A KitchenAid Stand Mixer. It's not just an appliance, it's a present to help them with the making. Year after year, recipe after recipe, you're enabling the family to whip up new traditions. 'Tis your season to mix it up. Gift a KitchenAid Stand Mixer this year and make more than meals.

• 13:07Speaker 08

I think it just, it says high cost of construction involved in digging deep enough for the foundation to be stable.

• 13:11Speaker 07

  Okay, so you gotta go.

• 13:12Andrew Santino?

  I was right.

• 13:13Speaker 08

  Yeah.

• 13:14Andrew Santino?

  I was right.

• 13:14Speaker 07

When you're doing a basement, you gotta go way deeper and then there's gotta be a foundation under that.

• 13:19Andrew Santino?

  Yes.

• 13:19Speaker 07

  Okay, cool.

• 13:20Andrew Santino?

So I was right. Say I was right, please?

• 13:21Speaker 08

  Yeah, you were right.

• 13:22Andrew Santino?

  Thank you so much.

• 13:22Speaker 07

  On the money.

• 13:23Andrew Santino?

  Right on the, no.

• 13:24Speaker 07

But I was, yeah, so I wanted to be a, wanted to do, make stuff. I was in bands, I was, you know, just creative, energy, ADD, kind of like constantly annoying everybody around me.

• 13:37Andrew Santino?

  Mom and dad?

• 13:37Speaker 07

  Mom and dad.

• 13:38Andrew Santino?

  Together?

• 13:39Speaker 07

  Um, they're separated right now.

• 13:42Andrew Santino?

  God bless.

• 13:42Speaker 07

But they were, yeah, but they were, that's fairly recent.

• 13:45Andrew Santino?

  Oh wow.

• 13:46Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 13:46Andrew Santino?

  They waited.

• 13:47Speaker 07

I don't know if they waited. I don't know if that's how they would frame it. They're just like, I do know people like, remember those kids that were like, my parents are together, but as soon as we leave the house, it's over.

• 13:57Andrew Santino?

This was every, I grew up in Chicago, everyone in the Midwest, they stay together because they don't wanna be,

• 14:02Speaker 07

  For the children.

• 14:03Andrew Santino?

Yeah, they don't wanna be socially shunned.

• 14:05Speaker 07

  Right.

• 14:05Andrew Santino?

They're like, just get them, get them to high school.

• 14:07Speaker 07

  Right.

• 14:07Andrew Santino?

And most of these kids are like, they're not going to college.

• 14:09Speaker 07

  Right.

• 14:09Andrew Santino?

These kids, my kids are all dumb. They're like, let them go, you know what I mean?

• 14:12Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah.

• 14:12Andrew Santino?

That was the vibe, is like, they'll just move out and get a gig and they'll be fine.

• 14:15Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 14:15Andrew Santino?

But so you, were your parents super supportive? Were you kind of growing up in a house of?

• 14:19Speaker 07

  Totally, yeah, totally.

• 14:20Andrew Santino?

  Were they artistic?

• 14:20Speaker 07

No, not at all. But they were, they, they were like, you know, as long as you're happy. They were very strict and, I mean, not very strict, they were physically abusive.

• 14:33Andrew Santino?

  And they were both-

• 14:33Speaker 07

But not strict. They just did it for fun.

• 14:35Andrew Santino?

Westboro Baptist church members, isn't that right?

• 14:37Speaker 07

Yeah, yeah, we were, I was one of 25.

• 14:40Andrew Santino?

That's wild, yeah, and you guys would protest together as a family.

• 14:43Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 14:43Andrew Santino?

The family that protest together. That's what they say.

• 14:46Speaker 07

No, my dad had a used car dealership. And that was sort of the family business that he wasn't, kind of, born, like, kind of inherited from my grandfather. All, it all sounds like I'm Matt Gaetz here, but it was like, you know.

• 15:03Andrew Santino?

  Are you campaigning?

• 15:04Speaker 07

Yeah, this is like, this is the 80s and it was a Ford dealership, so it was like, kind of, like, you know, every month was kind of like, can we sell one more car, kind of thing?

• 15:13Andrew Santino?

  Wow.

• 15:15Speaker 07

But it was a nice childhood, but yeah, very supportive. I did, I did like, in high school, I think, didn't get into some acting program that I was kind of expecting to maybe get into. And I said, I better rethink this. I better learn a skill, like a, like a trade. And that brought me to film school, which is, kind of like, you know, if you can control as much of the process as possible, you're better off than just being an actor waiting in a casting room for-

• 15:46Andrew Santino?

Dude, I feel very lucky that we built our own little worlds.

• 15:48Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 15:49Andrew Santino?

Because I got, I, we talked about it the other day about like, you know, you get offers now sometimes that are like, hey, we're interested in you for trying to be a part of this thing.

• 15:57Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 15:58Andrew Santino?

And they're like, and we'll give you, you know, $187.

• 16:01Speaker 07

  Right.

• 16:01Andrew Santino?

For all, for, oh, okay, for all of it. Well, all right. I was like, okay, I don't know if we could do that.

• 16:07Speaker 07

  No.

• 16:07Andrew Santino?

But that's become the new world, so like, what you've created, I mean, two decades of television shows. You know what I mean? You, you did it the way, without knowing that that was the way that you had to do it.

• 16:19Speaker 07

Yeah, we didn't know, I mean, there was this beautiful little chunk of time where Adult Swim existed, which happened to be, uh, it still does, but not in the way that it did. Um, where it was very much, uh, singular vision of a, of its, of its creator, this guy Mike Lazzo, who was, once he decided that he wanted this, this sort of, uh- Um, point of view out there, he didn't care how it, he wasn't a guy that meddled in it. He just was like, you, I think you guys are funny, go off and make something.

• 16:56Andrew Santino?

  That's awesome.

• 16:57Speaker 07

And, yeah, that was so singular.

• 16:59Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 17:00Speaker 07

Apparently, it used to be that way a lot more, and you know.

• 17:03Andrew Santino?

So you hear sometimes, Comedy Central is kinda like that in its infancy. You do hear a lot of those shows that they let people kinda play and go wild and then it all goes to shit.

• 17:10Speaker 07

There's that thing about the record companies in the sixties where you had the fat old business guys who ran the companies, who were like, I don't get any of this stuff, but it's making me money, so go off and, you know. They weren't, they weren't giving notes on lyrics.

• 17:25Andrew Santino?

  Where are those guys?

• 17:25Speaker 07

  Yeah, I know.

• 17:26Andrew Santino?

  They all died?

• 17:27Speaker 07

They all definitely had heart attacks and died, yeah.

• 17:30Speaker 01

I don't understand what they do.

• 17:32Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 17:32Speaker 01

  But I know we're rich.

• 17:34Speaker 07

I know the color, I know one color, and that's green.

• 17:36Speaker 01

  That's green, baby!

• 17:38Andrew Santino?

It is true, it felt like that was, because you're, like, I had such a crush on the Steve Brule series.

• 17:45Speaker 07

  Mm-hmm.

• 17:46Andrew Santino?

And the Wayne and Jan Schreier.

• 17:48Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 17:48Andrew Santino?

  Made me laugh so hard.

• 17:49Speaker 07

And he had a crush on Jan, I think.

• 17:51Andrew Santino?

Big time, big time, big time. Was it reciprocated?

• 17:53Speaker 07

  Uh, oh, yes.

• 17:54Andrew Santino?

Big time. The, the one line that I say, I love, sometimes I'll text lines to friends from, you know, you know when you like have one small line that only one friend knows?

• 18:01Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah.

• 18:02Andrew Santino?

That you go, but I always say, um, and, uh, red wine is terrible for my interior rash.

• 18:08Speaker 07

  Oh.

• 18:08Andrew Santino?

  That's such a good line.

• 18:09Speaker 07

Is that from him or me?

• 18:10Andrew Santino?

  That's from.

• 18:11Speaker 07

  Or Ja- Jan.

• 18:12Andrew Santino?

  That's from you.

• 18:12Speaker 07

  Yeah, from Jan.

• 18:13Andrew Santino?

  That's from you saying.

• 18:14Speaker 07

  I mean, I, yeah, yeah, when he's.

• 18:16Andrew Santino?

  That's so good.

• 18:17Speaker 07

I, I mean, I still, I mean, I'm very close with John and, uh, I still, we, if you, if on a text chain, if you say something that, uh, if you get, tell him anything, or I tell him, you know, I tell, he tells me something, I invited him to something the other night and he said, I can't go, and I just wrote back, I know. And that's just, you know.

• 18:37Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 18:38Speaker 07

That's the, we, we constantly quote ourselves.

• 18:41Andrew Santino?

How did you guys get linked up? How did you meet John on the first play?

• 18:43Speaker 07

Uh, John, um, this was, you know, two thousand four, and we were doing the show Tom Goes to the Mayor, which is our first show, cartoon, and, uh, he was, we knew who he was, but he wasn't, I mean, I guess he had done Chicago, so he was an Academy Award nominated actor. But he was, you know, he was like a character actor.

• 19:09Andrew Santino?

  Sure.

• 19:10Speaker 07

Uh, in the Paul Thomas Anderson movies and stuff, and we loved him, um. But so we sent him this script and I had coincidentally ran into him at a bowling alley. Uh, like a couple of days later. What are we talking, Chateau Lanes? That might be it. Chateau, Koreatown? Yes, exactly. Yeah. You know Ron Lynch? You probably, everyone knows Ron Lynch. Ron Lynch, yeah. It was his birthday party. Sure. He did a voice on Tom Goes to the Mayor. And I saw him there and I introduced myself and he was like, oh, I got a script from you guys and it's really funny. Who are you? He was like, he's very curious. Uh, and also like wanted to, was very interested in the comedy. Alt comedy scene. Sure. There was some, there was some, some overlap. Anyways.

• 19:56Speaker 07

He said, this is funnier than a lot of the comedy scripts that I'm getting these days. Right. Uh, sure. And so he came over to our studio, our little office in Hollywood. And there was like, you know, our usual like seven guys and gals were working at computers and all of them were like. Hipster looking people, arty artsy looking. Yeah. People, you know? There were no executives around. There was just art everywhere and there was weird ephemera and. Goofy stuff and, and you know, you walked in there and it felt like. And he said to us, like, who's in charge of this? And we're like, uh, I guess us, you know?

• 20:36Speaker 07

There's a network, but, and he was just immediately like sniffing out like a play, like a clubhouse, basically. Right. Like work, this is a place I could play. Um, and he immediately saw that we were working on the sketch show and. Was, had this idea for a news, uh, like a, a greengrocer type of person, like a correspondent. Right. And that was it. And he ran with it. Ran with it and he's been, you know, somebody we haven't done stuff with in a while, but. You know, very close.

• 21:10Andrew Santino?

He's, it is, I mean, you know, a lot of us have to thank you guys because that's kind of what we created. Like Bobby and I created our little stupid podcast and that kind of feels like our world of a cast of, you know, idiot fun characters. That's why we, where we found him and a lot of guys that come and then go on the show.

• 21:25Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 21:26Andrew Santino?

And it's all because of that kind of attitude of like, well, we'll just make a little dumb playhouse and hope that people want to have fun and be free and we'll see what we dig out of it.

• 21:35Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 21:36Andrew Santino?

Inherently, it kind of births like just super funny accidental shit. Cause no one is there to go, I don't know if that's.

• 21:43Speaker 07

  Yeah, there's no committee.

• 21:45Andrew Santino?

  It just doesn't matter.

• 21:45Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 21:46Andrew Santino?

And if it fails, it's even better. It's almost like it's better when it's uncomfortable.

• 21:50Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 21:51Andrew Santino?

And yeah, so we, I thank you guys for that because you, we do beg, borrow and steal from the idea of your world of like free characters kind of trying out shit and if it bombs, it's even better.

• 22:01Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 22:01Andrew Santino?

If it works, it's just a part of that, becomes a part of the zeitgeist of the world or whatever.

• 22:06Speaker 07

Yeah, I mean, I still do that now with, with office hours and with on cinema, we built our own streaming network for that show and we shot a new season that's coming out on Christmas. I don't know when this is going to come out, but there, we shot it a couple of weeks ago and it was that same feeling of I'm making, I'm playing with my friends.

• 22:28Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 22:28Speaker 07

It's all we're doing is, I mean, we, we work and it like, there's a lot of talk and thought and, you know, deliberation that goes into making, trying to make it as good as possible, but then it just becomes you're playing.

• 22:40Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 22:41Speaker 07

Like I'm back in the basement, you know?

• 22:43Andrew Santino?

Who do you, who do you think you vibe with the best? Like, do you think Dog Pound Doug?

• 22:47Speaker 07

Uh, Doug I've known maybe the longest, so there is a history there.

• 22:53Andrew Santino?

He's fantastic, by the way. He's so fucking funny.

• 22:55Speaker 07

Yeah. And I like, we have a brother relationship, I think, which is very like.

• 23:01Andrew Santino?

  You oddly look alike.

• 23:02Speaker 07

We do look a little bit alike. Yeah. He's a Chicago guy.

• 23:04Andrew Santino?

I know, I love him. I met him through Eric Andre's camp and that thing.

• 23:09Speaker 07

But I was shooting this thing and it was like, you know, much like here. I mean, we'd shoot it like. That show's shot a little more like a TV show. But there were, it was like, I was the, I'm in charge. Yeah. And I was a little, it always makes, freaks me out a little bit. That's great. That's good. And it's still, it's small, but it's still like, there's like, we're just, we're doing this. We're literally doing it with everyone that's, that's paying for, you know, they're, they're subscribing to the show. There's no ads, there's no network, there's no, you know, media conglomerate involved and I've just, luckily been, you know, I think we had that, that Adult Swim Foundation that I think you kinda do need, like,

• 23:51Speaker 07

with Louis, you had a network. Yeah. Before he went on his own, you know, there, there's always like, I don't know, I don't know what your background is, but. Trash. Not, you, somebody in your world, probably Bobby came from. Mad TV. Right. So it did help that there was a, there was a generation, there was a period of time where there was like, big companies that gave way too much money to crazy shit. Yeah. That exposed, that, that spent like millions of dollars advertising it, putting it in front of, in, in front of all these people's, uh, you know, computers and TVs and billboards and stuff. And then now we're all still here, tho, that comp, those companies have moved on.

• 24:36Speaker 07

Right. Yeah, they're gone. Yeah, they're gone. Well, then now they're all BlackRock or whatever now. Yeah, but we've, we've kept maybe a fan base or an audience from that experience.

• 24:46Speaker 00

• 30:08Andrew Santino?

Did you ever find that there was like a sketch or a show that you guys really wanted to make that you can never get done to this day that you're like, man, why don't we ever go back to that?

• 30:18Speaker 07

There's lots of, I mean, Eric and I wrote, have written pilots and series ideas that don't ever go anywhere. People think that we just kind of decide what to do and then we do it. I mean, you know, that's not how it works, but I've, I mean, I'm fascinated with apocalypse, apocalyptic stories. And I think there was a good apocalyptic show, The Will Forte Show.

• 30:40Andrew Santino?

  Last Man on Earth?

• 30:41Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 30:41Andrew Santino?

  That was a great show.

• 30:42Speaker 07

Yeah. I still think there's something there to be mined. So there's been a show that we tried to get made that was that kind of in that world that didn't happen. But I don't know, the sketches, that question, I don't, I also don't remember anything. I don't, I have no memory.

• 31:01Andrew Santino?

What do you think that is? Why do we have no memory? Who can we blame it on?

• 31:05Speaker 07

Bob Odenkirk, not to name drop, but...

• 31:10Andrew Santino?

It's not that big of a name. That's fine.

• 31:11Speaker 07

It's not that. He's about to do Glengarry Glen Ross.

• 31:15Andrew Santino?

  I know. I saw that.

• 31:16Speaker 07

I really, I might have to go to New York.

• 31:17Andrew Santino?

And Bill Burr is in that, right?

• 31:18Speaker 07

I can totally picture it. Yeah. Can't you?

• 31:21Andrew Santino?

Yeah, it's perfect. I mean, it was Lemon, Ed Harris.

• 31:27Speaker 07

I'm really good at this, so let me take over.

• 31:29Andrew Santino?

  Okay, do it. Please, please.

• 31:30Speaker 07

  Ready?

• 31:31Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, no, do it.

• 31:31Speaker 07

  Are you ready?

• 31:32Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 31:32Speaker 07

  Are you ready?

• 31:33Andrew Santino?

  Boom.

• 31:33Speaker 07

  Uh, Spacey.

• 31:36Andrew Santino?

  Boom.

• 31:37Speaker 07

Ed Harris, Alan Arkin, Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alec Baldwin.

• 31:43Andrew Santino?

  Wow.

• 31:43Speaker 07

  That's all I got.

• 31:44Andrew Santino?

And two of those five people have been...

• 31:46Speaker 07

  Are dead. A lot.

• 31:47Andrew Santino?

  Well, they've been cast into...

• 31:49Speaker 07

  Canceled.

• 31:49Andrew Santino?

  Canceled? Been cast out?

• 31:51Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 31:52Andrew Santino?

  That is kind of wild.

• 31:52Speaker 07

  That's called the Glengarry Curse.

• 31:54Andrew Santino?

Is it really? And you think that's coming for Odenkirk?

• 31:56Speaker 07

The... I... Well, I know things...

• 31:58Andrew Santino?

  We can only hope.

• 31:59Speaker 07

I know things about him that, yes, he's...

• 32:00Andrew Santino?

  Expose him!

• 32:01Speaker 07

  No.

• 32:02Andrew Santino?

Pull up the graphic of Expose, please. We do a big Expose piece. Exposed.

• 32:06Speaker 07

Bob said, he was, I could, he was talking about writing, he wrote a memoir and he was like, how hard it was. Cause he's like, "I'm too busy thinking of new things."

• 32:14Andrew Santino?

  Right, I can't think of...

• 32:15Speaker 07

"I can't hold all those things in my head."

• 32:16Andrew Santino?

That's actually probably a part of it. Where, how do we get... Cause my memory's really bad and sometimes I'm gonna go, "Remember that?" And I'll go, "Oh yeah, that's awesome." But I just...

• 32:24Speaker 07

I feel weird about it, cause I, I, you know Jaclyn Novak?

• 32:26Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 32:27Speaker 07

  She's hilarious.

• 32:28Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, so funny.

• 32:28Speaker 07

I saw her the other night and she was telling me about seeing us doing a show together years ago at a comedy festival. And she was telling me about what I was doing and how funny it was to her and it was like a very specific thing. But I just, I have like a bla, like I have nothing from that.

• 32:45Andrew Santino?

What's the oldest memory you have in your brain?

• 32:48Speaker 07

Well, I mean, um, I was an early masturbator.

• 32:53Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, me too.

• 32:54Speaker 07

  Two years old.

• 32:55Andrew Santino?

Oh, I was one and a half. I got you. I got you by six months.

• 33:00Speaker 07

I have like, I have this dream that I remember from being very young that was my, like a shame dream.

• 33:08Andrew Santino?

Give it to me, what is a shame dream?

• 33:10Speaker 07

Shame, I was like, it was me and my mom, me, sorry, me and my dad and my sister leaving, uh, to go somewhere. But my mom was on the couch, but it was only her head. So it was this feeling of like, "We're leaving to go do something. We know you can't, come with us." I mean, I think I had that dream when I was like four years old.

• 33:29Andrew Santino?

Was it just her head on the cushion?

• 33:31Speaker 07

It was her head like on top of the, like...

• 33:33Andrew Santino?

Oh, on the, on the back. Well, maybe she was hiding behind the couch.

• 33:35Speaker 07

That could have been it. Maybe it wasn't a dream at all.

• 33:39Andrew Santino?

I have one of those torturous like, you know, when you, I misremember because of trauma.

• 33:44Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 33:44Andrew Santino?

You know, so like, I have one, my, my mom, my stepdad went to Hawaii and I was staying at my grandmother's house. And I remember it was pouring rain, but the grandmother handed me the phone and walked away. And I remember hearing my mom go, hey, and then me laughing, not saying anything, thinking how funny it was.

• 34:01Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 34:01Andrew Santino?

Like, she can't, she doesn't, I'm not, she doesn't know. And then they were like, oh, I think we lost, and then they hung up.

• 34:06Speaker 07

  Uh huh.

• 34:06Andrew Santino?

And back then, it was like calling from Hawaii was like a thing.

• 34:09Speaker 07

  Sure.

• 34:10Andrew Santino?

You know what I mean? It was in the late eighties.

• 34:11Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 34:12Andrew Santino?

And then, so then my grandmother was like, you're done talking to me. And then I just started bawling because I never got to talk to them.

• 34:16Speaker 07

  Oh.

• 34:17Andrew Santino?

And then it like stuck in my brain as like, why would I do that?

• 34:19Speaker 07

  Right, right.

• 34:20Andrew Santino?

Why did I think that was funny? Yeah, why did I wait? What if they never come back?

• 34:23Speaker 07

  Right.

• 34:24Andrew Santino?

That's like one of those childhood weird, where I'm like, maybe I did talk to them the very next morning, but in my mind, it's like, we almost never spoke again.

• 34:31Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 34:31Andrew Santino?

I didn't see them for weeks.

• 34:32Speaker 07

Listen to this memory that I did, a sign of bad memory. Yesterday, I'm in my studio, the office hours, my, which is my garage.

• 34:41Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 34:41Speaker 07

  Okay.

• 34:42Andrew Santino?

  Oh, it's at your house.

• 34:42Speaker 07

  It's at my house.

• 34:43Andrew Santino?

  That's great, dude. That's smart.

• 34:45Speaker 07

Uh, and I, I'm in the, where the guys sit, like where you're sitting, kind of in this side room. And I see this medic, I see this like medication hidden behind something. And I pull it out and it's like, it's an EpiPen.

• 34:58Andrew Santino?

  Oh shit.

• 34:59Speaker 07

And I go, what the fuck is this? And it, I look at, and it's got my name on it, like a prescription sticker, my name, like a barcode, like the highlighter thing on it. No, and it's like unopened. And I'm just sitting with this going, this is a, and I call the guys, I'm like, do you guys know why there's an EpiPen in the studio? And they're like, no, maybe, I'm like, there's my, it was like a full mystery. I don't know anything about this. I don't, I don't have allergies, I don't, nothing, maybe one of the guy, and it was like, I don't know where this came from. Why is my name on it?

• 35:32Andrew Santino?

That's so creepy. This is memento.

• 35:34Speaker 07

And then last night, I was talking to my wife, she's like, yeah, like a year ago, you went to get an allergy test. Cause I'm allergic to some things and they're, they gave you something because of the test, you know where they poke you?

• 35:46Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 35:47Speaker 07

She's like, we're gonna send you an EpiPen because there's like a small chance that you might have a reaction to this.

• 35:52Andrew Santino?

  Oh.

• 35:52Speaker 07

Full, full, white, full blackout of that experience. It was a year ago.

• 35:57Andrew Santino?

  That's dark. That's so dark.

• 35:59Speaker 07

And that me looking at this thing didn't didn't like recall that.

• 36:03Andrew Santino?

  Thank God for your wife.

• 36:04Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 36:05Andrew Santino?

Honestly, my wife, my wife does that. She picks up, she'll tell me stuff that she's like, did you not remember that?

• 36:10Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 36:11Andrew Santino?

No, I don't know. And I also, I think I think I like the Odenkirk approach is like, well, I'm just trying to think of.

• 36:17Speaker 07

  My head's elsewhere.

• 36:18Andrew Santino?

  I'm going that way.

• 36:19Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah.

• 36:20Andrew Santino?

It's so hard to go this way.

• 36:21Speaker 07

  Don't look back.

• 36:21Andrew Santino?

What was on the allergy test, by the way? What are you allergic to? Let's rattle them off.

• 36:25Speaker 07

  Yeah, well, um, stand up.

• 36:28Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, then me too.

• 36:30Speaker 07

  Um, podcasts.

• 36:31Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 36:32Speaker 07

Um, no, I'm allergic to apples and like certain fruit.

• 36:37Andrew Santino?

  Huh.

• 36:38Speaker 07

That gives, this guy knows what I'm talking about.

• 36:40Andrew Santino?

  I'm also allergic to apples.

• 36:41Speaker 07

  Makes my mouth itch, right?

• 36:42Andrew Santino?

I thought that happened to everyone until college. Makes a roof in my mouth itch.

• 36:44Speaker 07

Yeah, it gets, it's very irritated.

• 36:47Andrew Santino?

  Wow.

• 36:48Speaker 07

And, um, I occasionally like explore the idea of solving it or curing it or whatever and.

• 36:56Andrew Santino?

You're gonna alpha beat it? You're like, I'll just eat so many fucking apples.

• 36:58Speaker 07

There's a, there's a thing that they do where you're supposed to do this spray like every day for two years and it's gonna go away. And do you think I do? I can't remember to brush my teeth.

• 37:07Andrew Santino?

That's an issue, honestly. The EpiPen thing, no, but that is. Did it, well, who cares? Yeah. That to me, when someone's like, oh, I'm not, I can't have that thing anymore. It's like, great. Who gives a shit?

• 37:15Speaker 07

Yeah, there's plenty of things, there's plenty of other things.

• 37:17Andrew Santino?

And my wife can't have eggplant. And she was like, that's weird. I'm like, who care? We don't eat, when do we eat eggplant?

• 37:21Speaker 07

  No, no.

• 37:22Andrew Santino?

Like, how often am I picking up an apple? Really, truly? I'm almost never eating apples.

• 37:26Speaker 07

I'd like to eat an, I'd like to eat a crisp. I mean, I used to be able to eat apples.

• 37:29Andrew Santino?

I'm gonna send you videos from now on of me eating apples in the morning. First thing in the morning, just delicious.

• 37:35Speaker 08

Did it go worse through time?

• 37:36Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 37:37Speaker 07

You know what? I might not be, like, I haven't, it's not like, you know, you don't, I just don't eat apples, so maybe I'm not anymore.

• 37:43Andrew Santino?

  Go to Trader Joe's.

• 37:44Speaker 07

  Let's get an apple.

• 37:44Andrew Santino?

Go get him an apple right now.

• 37:46Speaker 07

I wouldn't die or anything. I would just be like mildly uncomfortable.

• 37:49Andrew Santino?

Well, did you bring the EpiPen with you?

• 37:51Speaker 00

Let's be honest, you don't go to the holiday gift exchange just to participate. You go to win. This year, cause a stir, gift a KitchenAid stand mixer to whip up new traditions. Tis your season to mix it up.

• 38:05Speaker 07

  No.

• 38:05Andrew Santino?

You should bring it with you everywhere you go now, just because, that's a way to get out of a meeting, too.

• 38:09Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah.

• 38:10Andrew Santino?

  If you're like, I can't.

• 38:13Andrew Santino?

Stab me with this right now.

• 38:14Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 38:15Andrew Santino?

I got, I was on a, I had an episode on an airplane. I had a vasovagal response.

• 38:20Speaker 07

  A what?

• 38:21Andrew Santino?

I know, exactly. Vasovagal, it's your central nervous system. It does like, it's like a shock thing that happens.

• 38:25Speaker 07

  And you like, you're low-

• 38:26Andrew Santino?

Passed out. Yeah, you kind of low blood pressure passed out.

• 38:28Speaker 07

I've got a good one for you with that, but go ahead.

• 38:30Andrew Santino?

Well, what happened, and they, they thought, the, the doctor they called to the front of the plane, thought I was on drugs. And I was like, oh no, I'm, I'm not on drugs, I'm completely sober. Did you take something yesterday? I said, I, I have, I've been feeling a little ill the past few days. I was like, I haven't put anything in my system.

• 38:44Speaker 07

  Right.

• 38:44Andrew Santino?

I've barely been eating food. And he didn't believe me.

• 38:47Speaker 07

  Oh.

• 38:47Andrew Santino?

So he gave me, he, they thought I was full of shit. Cause they were like, the reaction was so strange. You know, it seemed like a medical, medical emergency.

• 38:54Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 38:54Andrew Santino?

So he gave me fucking Narcan. You know, that they give to heroin addicts.

• 38:57Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 38:57Andrew Santino?

Well, of course, I'm texting my wife in the air. And I'm like, these guys are thinking I'm on drugs.

• 39:04Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah.

• 39:04Andrew Santino?

And they're trying to give me Narcan. And then she's Googling, this is, thank God for Google. She's like, if, if you're not overdosing, Narcan will not hurt you. It has no, it doesn't do anything to you.

• 39:15Speaker 07

  Okay.

• 39:15Andrew Santino?

Well, that was my worry. I'm like, you're gonna give me this, this is gonna kill me.

• 39:17Speaker 07

Yeah, it's like the, the thing in the, the adrenaline shot.

• 39:20Andrew Santino?

Yeah, pulp fiction, yeah, exactly. No, so I, I took the Narcan and the guy was like, I had zero reaction to it. And so he finally believed me, but I was like, that's how, how crazy that they were, because I do get the scenario of them being like, dude, don't lie to us. We're not the cops. Like, if you're ODing on the plane, and I'm trying to explain it, I'm like, I haven't, I, I can't even have food. They're like, sure dude, just sit down and take the Narcan. Shut the fuck up, take the-

• 39:43Speaker 07

I, I was on a plane recently where a guy passed out and it was very scary. Uh, but, the venal vagels, that was-

• 39:49Andrew Santino?

  Vasovagal.

• 39:50Speaker 07

  Vasovagal. I like venal vagel.

• 39:51Andrew Santino?

Yeah, anal vagel. Mine's anal vagel.

• 39:53Speaker 07

My, I was like, my, um, do you wanna hear another story?

• 39:57Andrew Santino?

  Give it to me. Yeah.

• 39:58Speaker 07

  Do we like-

• 39:58Andrew Santino?

  We love stories.

• 39:59Speaker 07

Are we good? Do we not get, okay.

• 40:01Andrew Santino?

No, no, we're, stories are good.

• 40:01Speaker 07

Stories are good. People love stories. I think I, I mean, I, I might be in the doghouse for telling this story.

• 40:07Andrew Santino?

  Tell it!

• 40:08Speaker 07

But, uh, cause it involves the old lady, but she doesn't watch the podcast that I'm on, so-

• 40:13Andrew Santino?

She is, she's going to now.

• 40:14Speaker 07

  She does not.

• 40:14Andrew Santino?

  No.

• 40:15Speaker 07

  Um.

• 40:16Andrew Santino?

  She has a life.

• 40:17Speaker 07

  She's too big, I know.

• 40:19Andrew Santino?

She's an adult with a life.

• 40:20Speaker 07

No offense to everybody watching, but-

• 40:24Speaker 07

Uh, we're, we play softball and we're like a intramural softball league.

• 40:29Andrew Santino?

  I love this.

• 40:30Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 40:30Andrew Santino?

Are we talking sixteen inch, twelve inch, is it glove or no glove?

• 40:33Speaker 07

  Glove.

• 40:34Andrew Santino?

  Okay.

• 40:34Speaker 07

What do you mean no glove?

• 40:35Andrew Santino?

I, I, I played for a long time in sixteen inch, Chicago style softball is no glove. Odenkirk will know about it.

• 40:41Speaker 07

Like, you get a line drive, you're at, and you're like playing second base, you're catching with your bare hand?

• 40:45Andrew Santino?

It's softer. It's, it's actually like a softball, which the name of the sport should actually be.

• 40:49Speaker 07

Yeah, cuz the, the softball, we're playing with-

• 40:51Andrew Santino?

  It's hard as a rock.

• 40:52Speaker 07

It's hard as a rock and you're, you could, well, this is where the story goes.

• 40:55Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 40:56Speaker 07

Um, I'm at home, uh, uh, there's a, it's Friday night and I'm, uh, shooting this commercial very early the next morning. So Marilyn, my wife, is going to softball practice at night, uh, that night. I said, I'm gonna skip tonight cuz I'm, I'm just wanna chill. And it's about three miles from where we live, up, up this canyon, uh, where there's some ball fields where they practice. And we've got two kids, eight and eleven. And she's on the field. She takes a ground ball, it bounces up and hits her in the cheek.

• 41:28Andrew Santino?

  Ah.

• 41:29Speaker 07

Like, you know, it's a deflection, so it's not like a direct hit, but it, it, she feels it. Um, she doesn't think much of it, but it's like, you know, she takes a break, she checks, she makes sure that she's okay. Uh, and they get ready to leave. So, next thing I know, I get a call from my wife, very disoriented, saying, I was just in an accident. Um, I'm not sure, I think the ambulances are come, ambulance is on their way. Something scary as shit like that. I'm on, uh, this can, I'm in the, I'm right down the street from the ballpark. So, I've raced there, I have a very hard time tying my shoes.

• 42:09Andrew Santino?

Yeah, I see that, I can see that actually.

• 42:11Speaker 07

But, she's trying to get down there. And I, uh, get a couple miles away to where I see her car, like, run off the road into another car. And the kids are in the backseat of the car.

• 42:26Speaker 07

And everybody's fine. They're freaked out and crying. The car is like, it was, it was like a fender bender style. It was not a

• 42:35Andrew Santino?

  Not T-bone.

• 42:36Speaker 07

We're not upside down or anything like that.

• 42:38Andrew Santino?

  Right, right, right.

• 42:38Speaker 07

But Marilyn was driving home, blew her nose, um, and passed out while driving. And that she went to the, what happened was when she got hit, it, it kind of broke her sinus in her nose, in her face. And, and it, it did the same thing with that, that nerve.

• 42:57Andrew Santino?

  That vasovagal response, yeah.

• 42:58Speaker 07

Yeah, that nerve got triggered and her blood pressure dropped. She passed out. Exactly what happened to you. But while driving.

• 43:04Andrew Santino?

  Oh my god.

• 43:05Speaker 07

And thank god, who I don't believe in.

• 43:10Andrew Santino?

He's here right now. God, come on in.

• 43:12Speaker 07

She was just like, you know, coming at a certain place in the road where she was, you know, it, it just kind of coasted off and kind of just kind of bumped into this car. Um, but a mile, like maybe a half mile back, she's like open.

• 43:26Andrew Santino?

  On the canyon.

• 43:27Speaker 07

On the canyon side, which is just like, you know, I can't even think about it, but uh.

• 43:31Andrew Santino?

  Mulholland Drive, baby.

• 43:33Speaker 07

  Exactly.

• 43:33Andrew Santino?

That, this is why we live in the flats.

• 43:35Speaker 07

  You gotta stay flat.

• 43:36Andrew Santino?

  Gotta stay flat, dude.

• 43:37Speaker 07

Do you have a fear of heights?

• 43:39Andrew Santino?

No, I just, whenever I went to friends' houses that were in the hills, I was always like, what are you gonna do?

• 43:43Speaker 07

There's that road that if you go from like, if you go the back way back from Malibu.

• 43:47Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 43:48Speaker 07

That goes down this Malibu Canyon, I guess.

• 43:51Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, one of those.

• 43:52Speaker 07

And there's some, I have a bad fear of heights and there are just some turns in there that are like, you're dead.

• 43:59Andrew Santino?

And there's no lights at night, by the way.

• 44:00Speaker 07

There's no guard rail. There's like a, there's like a two, two foot guard rail. Like as a joke, like, yeah, maybe we'll see what happens.

• 44:08Andrew Santino?

That's a bit from the cops. Make it real low. I found that.

• 44:12Speaker 07

  So that you'll flip.

• 44:12Andrew Santino?

To flip, yeah. Something for us to do up here. We don't get to do anything. I, I was in Ireland. Like the first or second time I went to Ireland, I went to the Cliffs of Moher on the western coast. If you've never been, it's just unbelievably beautiful. But in the same way where somebody goes, Grand Canyon, come on, who gives a, and then you go and you're like, oh my god.

• 44:29Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah.

• 44:30Andrew Santino?

It does something to your inside. The Cliffs of Moher are the same kind of like.

• 44:33Speaker 07

Not exactly the clips of less.

• 44:35Andrew Santino?

Yeah, yeah, their clips are way more. Here we go. You, I was so taken aback by it. And then I realized it was wet. It's always wet. And it's slippery grass.

• 44:45Speaker 07

  Oh, God.

• 44:45Andrew Santino?

  There's no fence. There's no.

• 44:47Speaker 07

  No.

• 44:48Andrew Santino?

There's no protective border. Any idiot.

• 44:51Speaker 07

  I, yeah.

• 44:51Andrew Santino?

Can walk up and fall. And I was like, I, I slowly started to, I wasn't even that close.

• 44:55Speaker 07

No, I'm not getting anywhere near this place.

• 44:57Andrew Santino?

I just slowly backed up, seeing all these tourists like, ahh, by the edge. And I thought, this is, they know people fall. Every year, but the Irish government's like, well, you know.

• 45:06Speaker 07

It's your choice. It's your life.

• 45:08Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, you fall, you fall.

• 45:09Speaker 07

  Let the sea take you.

• 45:11Andrew Santino?

That's the Irish way. Oh, speaking of the, of Forte, he has a new show, by the way. Have you seen that Bodkin show in Ireland?

• 45:17Speaker 07

  No.

• 45:18Andrew Santino?

It's Bodkin, is that the name? I'm so dumb.

• 45:20Speaker 07

  Oh, it's like a mystery.

• 45:22Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, it's like.

• 45:23Speaker 07

Yeah, I should watch that. I don't know why. I don't watch any shows.

• 45:26Andrew Santino?

See, we try, my wife and I are trying to watch shows.

• 45:29Speaker 07

  Get back into shows.

• 45:30Andrew Santino?

Cause we don't do it. Everyone does it and we don't do it.

• 45:32Speaker 07

  I know.

• 45:33Andrew Santino?

And everyone's like, do you guys watch? And we're like, we don't.

• 45:35Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 45:35Andrew Santino?

We'll sit around at night, play with the dog and talk shit. And that's kind of it.

• 45:41Speaker 07

You're not really, you're not really talking.

• 45:43Andrew Santino?

  No, we talk shit.

• 45:44Speaker 07

Okay, you're not sitting down like, how are you?

• 45:45Andrew Santino?

  You know who I hate?

• 45:46Speaker 07

  Oh, that's fine.

• 45:47Andrew Santino?

  That's it every day.

• 45:48Speaker 07

I don't want to hear that you're at night talking with your wife about like how you feel.

• 45:52Andrew Santino?

We just talk shit about stuff.

• 45:53Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 45:53Andrew Santino?

Yeah, we really do. Bodkin, am I right? Yeah, Bodkin. And it's, someone was like, you guys should try it. So now we're like making a point to be normal. We're trying to be like, how can we sit together, watch a show?

• 46:07Speaker 07

  That's depressing.

• 46:08Andrew Santino?

Our schedules are just so ridiculous. We never, we don't have kids.

• 46:11Speaker 07

  What does your wife do?

• 46:12Andrew Santino?

She, uh, she's an arms dealer, international arms dealer. She's, she works for the Russian government.

• 46:18Speaker 07

You know what? I know you're joking, but people do that shit and I don't, like.

• 46:25Speaker 07

  It's a, it's a living.

• 46:26Andrew Santino?

It is. Well, someone has to do it. Guns have to get from A to B.

• 46:29Speaker 07

  Right.

• 46:30Andrew Santino?

And she's a big part of that.

• 46:31Speaker 07

And hopefully it's done safely and responsibly and you don't have arms on the black market. Like if it's gonna happen, let's make sure it's happening responsibly, regulated and...

• 46:40Andrew Santino?

Right. We're not really calling it the black market anymore, just so you know.

• 46:42Speaker 07

  Okay.

• 46:43Andrew Santino?

It's a little offensive. Yeah. Yeah. Just the other market.

• 46:46Speaker 07

  Yeah, I, I hear you.

• 46:47Andrew Santino?

We're calling it the new market, new age market.

• 46:50Speaker 07

  The underground market.

• 46:51Andrew Santino?

The underground market, yeah. No, but she's, we both have such busy schedules, it is funny, so we tried to watch a couple of shows. We watched Penguin, which we've talked about.

• 46:58Speaker 07

  Penguin.

• 46:59Andrew Santino?

  Loved Penguin.

• 47:00Speaker 07

  Loved?

• 47:01Andrew Santino?

  It was so good.

• 47:02Speaker 07

Loved Penguin? Oh, no, you got a pronunciation on Penguin that I'm interested in.

• 47:06Andrew Santino?

  What is it? Penguin?

• 47:07Speaker 07

  Yeah, I mean, that's, that's a little Midwest.

• 47:10Andrew Santino?

  You say it.

• 47:11Speaker 07

  Penguin.

• 47:12Andrew Santino?

  Penguin. Penguin.

• 47:14Speaker 08

  Penguin?

• 47:14Speaker 07

  Sanguine.

• 47:15Andrew Santino?

No, he says Penguin. Sanguine. How do you say the thing that's on top of your house? What is that called?

• 47:20Speaker 07

  Uh, Santa.

• 47:22Andrew Santino?

  Bam. You say roof? Roof?

• 47:24Speaker 07

  I definitely say roof.

• 47:25Andrew Santino?

  Roof?

• 47:26Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 47:26Andrew Santino?

  Yeah. You're Pennsylvania?

• 47:28Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 47:28Andrew Santino?

  Eastern West?

• 47:29Speaker 07

I don't have like, I'm east Penns- east Pennsylvania, but I don't really have like a Philly accent.

• 47:33Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, cuz those guys...

• 47:34Speaker 07

  A weird accent.

• 47:34Andrew Santino?

Yeah. Philly, Philly's such a, I love Philadelphia because it's so fascinating. You're like, how did you guys come up? How did you get this? Do you know what I mean? Like, where did that even come from?

• 47:43Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 47:44Andrew Santino?

Like, the South, you can hear, you understand kind of where the South started to come from.

• 47:48Speaker 07

  Mm-hmm.

• 47:49Andrew Santino?

But Philly, New York, obviously, but Philly, something about Philly is very like, what happened?

• 47:54Speaker 07

It's caught in the middle. I can't even do it and I'm from there. Like, I can't put it on.

• 47:57Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, that, yeah. You guys.

• 47:59Speaker 07

  Yeah, you, Eagles.

• 48:00Andrew Santino?

  You Eagles, yeah.

• 48:01Speaker 07

  Foyers.

• 48:04Andrew Santino?

But you went, what, you went from Philly, I mean, you went from PA to New York?

• 48:08Speaker 07

I've only lived three, I've figured this, I've only lived in like three places in my life. Maybe, no, four, I'm sorry. Four, Allentown, Pennsylvania is where I grew up, Philadelphia, went to college there, met Eric, lived in New York for four years, and then moved here.

• 48:24Andrew Santino?

Do you, do you miss New York ever or no?

• 48:26Speaker 07

  Nah.

• 48:26Andrew Santino?

  You like it out here.

• 48:27Speaker 07

  Hey.

• 48:28Andrew Santino?

  This is for you.

• 48:29Speaker 07

Yeah. I did, you know, you go to New York, you see the people you know.

• 48:33Andrew Santino?

You see some of the people you know. Yeah.

• 48:35Speaker 07

  Yeah. No, but uh.

• 48:38Andrew Santino?

  But you like that.

• 48:38Speaker 07

I did a movie there. I'm gonna drop it.

• 48:40Andrew Santino?

No, no, please keep doing it.

• 48:41Speaker 07

Like I do accents, but they come in and out.

• 48:43Andrew Santino?

I like it. I really do.

• 48:46Speaker 07

But uh, yeah, I did a movie there this summer. I got to live there for like a month and a half.

• 48:50Andrew Santino?

  That's enough.

• 48:51Speaker 07

Yeah, it was nice. Got a nice taste.

• 48:53Andrew Santino?

Yeah, tasted it. Where'd you live when you were in New York?

• 48:55Speaker 07

I was in Williamsburg, in Brooklyn.

• 48:58Andrew Santino?

  Very nice.

• 48:59Speaker 07

Which I used to live there when I was like 2003.

• 49:02Andrew Santino?

Back, back before it was hip.

• 49:04Speaker 07

Yeah, well, it was really, it was actually hip.

• 49:07Andrew Santino?

That was when it was originally hip.

• 49:09Speaker 07

It was like Vice started there kinda hip.

• 49:12Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 49:14Speaker 07

But now it's like tourism hip, like hip tourism. It's actually very weird.

• 49:18Andrew Santino?

It's so pricey. It's so funny. A buddy of mine had a place there for years on Dregs. On Dregs?

• 49:24Speaker 07

  Dregs, yeah, Dregs.

• 49:25Andrew Santino?

On Dregs and I go visit him for years and years and years and then.

• 49:30Speaker 01

• 50:00Andrew Santino?

I think one time he was like, I have a hard time letting that building go, cause he was moving.

• 50:03Speaker 07

  Oh, God.

• 50:04Andrew Santino?

And he was like, I shouldn't, I shouldn't let that go, right? And for years he kept it. And then now, I think an apartment in this building was like a, it's like a one bed, one bath little shanty and it was like 2 million, 2 and a half million dollars.

• 50:15Speaker 07

  Nice.

• 50:16Andrew Santino?

And I was like, that little fucking bullshit apartment you had, was that?

• 50:19Speaker 07

And it's still, as much as, as much as you have like a, you know, um. What's that Marine Layer, what's that store called, Marine Layer? It's always what I know and like-

• 50:29Andrew Santino?

  Marine Layer, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 50:30Speaker 07

  Something's gone gentrified.

• 50:32Andrew Santino?

Yeah, yeah, when they move in.

• 50:33Speaker 07

It's like, you still have those stores, which, who wants that, but, and you have the, what's the eyeglasses place that is on every-

• 50:40Andrew Santino?

  Wait, hold on, Warby Parker?

• 50:41Speaker 07

  Warby Parker.

• 50:42Andrew Santino?

Yeah, that's on every, so that is-

• 50:43Speaker 07

So, but it's still also like shitty, like there's still like, you know, it's just like the buildings themselves are falling apart.

• 50:49Andrew Santino?

Right. Let's name all the stores that, that, that-

• 50:51Speaker 07

  That would be there.

• 50:52Andrew Santino?

  That tang of gentrification.

• 50:53Speaker 07

  Melville, is that a store?

• 50:54Andrew Santino?

  Brandy Melville?

• 50:55Speaker 07

  Brandy Melville?

• 50:56Andrew Santino?

That's there, that's gotta be there. You gotta have an aloe yoga if you're gonna really gentrify.

• 51:00Speaker 07

  Aloe yoga's huge.

• 51:01Andrew Santino?

  You gotta gentrify with aloe.

• 51:02Speaker 07

Lulu is of course gonna be there.

• 51:04Andrew Santino?

But Lulu's not as popular as anymore. We're going more to Viore and aloe.

• 51:07Speaker 07

You might have a, you know, they're gonna have a Tesla shop, like-

• 51:11Andrew Santino?

They'll have a Tesla showroom, yes. And you could touch it, but they're like, sir, these are not for sale. Yeah. It is-

• 51:18Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 51:19Andrew Santino?

And then there's one more store.

• 51:19Speaker 07

  Salt and straw.

• 51:20Andrew Santino?

Salt, gotta have a salt and straw, dude. These are the keys to gentrification. If you're looking to gentrify a neighborhood, please pick up our book.

• 51:27Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 51:28Andrew Santino?

Tim and I are releasing a book.

• 51:29Speaker 07

I shouldn't have a, I shouldn't have ice cream, but it is a salt and straw. Just a little bit.

• 51:36Andrew Santino?

It is funny what I walk through those stores to, like, the, after you go through the West Village, like if you're headed to Chelsea, they have a little strip of like every one of those fucking stores.

• 51:47Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah.

• 51:48Andrew Santino?

It's literally like they're back to back to back. And like, they did it. Look at this, they came in and they did it.

• 51:52Speaker 07

Yeah, it's like they must have a catalog, like, we definitely want a salt and straw, we want an aloe, and we'll just check these boxes here.

• 51:59Andrew Santino?

And then also the, what's the shoe one that I see all the, Allbirds. You gotta have an Allbirds.

• 52:04Speaker 07

  Gotta have an Allbirds.

• 52:04Andrew Santino?

And if you don't have an Allbirds-

• 52:05Speaker 07

The other level of it is like the, the regions that have the line of like the stuff that you can't afford, like the, no one can afford.

• 52:14Andrew Santino?

  Oh, right.

• 52:14Speaker 07

  The Dior or whatever.

• 52:15Andrew Santino?

Right, right, right, just high end.

• 52:16Speaker 07

  High, high end-

• 52:18Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 52:18Speaker 07

Fashion, like in Glendale, the Americana, you know the Americana?

• 52:22Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 52:23Speaker 07

Which we go to, cause it's like, it's, it's like, you know, there's a movie theater there, and there's a couple things for the kids to do there, and we, you know, there's a little grass and-

• 52:32Andrew Santino?

It's an outdoor mall, it's nice.

• 52:33Speaker 07

It's an outdoor mall, it's fine. But over the past few years, it's just, every store's been replaced by like Tiffany's and Balenciaga and all these things, which is like- Who's going?

• 52:45Andrew Santino?

  But no one shops.

• 52:46Speaker 07

No one goes in those shops.

• 52:47Andrew Santino?

Whenever I see them, they're all empty.

• 52:48Speaker 07

They're all empty. There's like one man in there like looking around because he works there and like waiting for his shift to be over.

• 52:55Andrew Santino?

And they always have security up.

• 52:56Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 52:57Andrew Santino?

And you're like, no one's stealing.

• 52:57Speaker 07

There's a strip in, um, in Toronto that's, I mean, every city has that strip of like those seven stores.

• 53:03Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 53:04Speaker 07

  Uh, a Rolex store.

• 53:05Andrew Santino?

But you can't buy a watch at. That's the funny, do you know this?

• 53:07Speaker 07

  No.

• 53:08Andrew Santino?

This is like the funniest thing, the revolution of like watches. Like when I was a kid, I remember my dad, um, wanted like a nice watch. My dad's like never bought anything nice for himself. And back then you could go to like a store.

• 53:19Speaker 07

  Sure.

• 53:19Andrew Santino?

And be like, uh, look at an Omega watch and then try to, you know, try to buy one, right? If the dealer had one. And now you could, they have the watches.

• 53:27Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 53:28Andrew Santino?

And then you go in and then they'll go, well, these are for display. And you're like, well, what if I wanted to buy one? They're like, well, then you'd have to talk to one of our authorized dealers and have a relationship and then you can order one. And you're like, what the fuck? What the fuck is this for?

• 53:40Speaker 07

That watch culture is so weird. I, John and Fred Armisen and I, we have this text thread that's just non, total nonsense.

• 53:47Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 53:48Speaker 07

You know, as I'm sure you do with your comedy friends.

• 53:50Andrew Santino?

  Losers. Yeah, my loser friends.

• 53:52Speaker 07

There's, we, we, we from, you know, the news, like, like Apple News or something, if you sort of read an article, they start feeding you more things like that. One of us got in like joke, you know, whatever randomly clicked on like an article about luxury watches.

• 54:06Andrew Santino?

  Uh oh.

• 54:06Speaker 07

And now I'm getting all these articles about luxury watches and I'm just sending them to those guys. We're having this fake conversation about, do you have the new, the new model? And did you see this picture of George Clooney with this new Omega? And like, that I don't get. I mean, talk about things I don't get. I give a long list, but watch thing is real.

• 54:24Andrew Santino?

I like it. It's funny. I, I like watches, but I, but the culture is very like, I can't keep up with that. I'm not good at keeping up with trends or any of that stuff. I've always been like, if I like something, if I go, ooh, I like the way that looks.

• 54:35Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 54:35Andrew Santino?

  Then I like it.

• 54:36Speaker 07

  Right.

• 54:36Andrew Santino?

But as soon as you talk to someone about it, they make you feel dumb.

• 54:39Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 54:40Andrew Santino?

So I, I refuse to bring it up. Like if I liked one nice watch, I was like, oh, I really like this watch.

• 54:44Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah.

• 54:44Andrew Santino?

Someone like, oh, that's not the, uh, is that the ba-da-da four nine sixty-four?

• 54:48Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 54:48Andrew Santino?

And you're like, oh, I, yeah, I don't, I, I really just thought of it. And they're like.

• 54:51Speaker 07

I'm a guy that was like, I don't like any believe, you know, you might.

• 54:55Andrew Santino?

  No luxuries.

• 54:56Speaker 07

No luxuries and like no attention towards me.

• 54:59Andrew Santino?

  Sure.

• 54:59Speaker 07

Like I like unless I'm direct unless I'm controlling it and making something but like in my normal life.

• 55:05Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 55:05Speaker 07

Don't look at like you know no no tattoos like no nothing to say.

• 55:10Andrew Santino?

  No accoutrement.

• 55:11Speaker 07

Nothing that says look at me.

• 55:12Andrew Santino?

Right. Well, there's two kinds of people in our world and I think because me he knows we like Bobby and I have a very very polar relationship with that like I get a little anxious in public and I don't really love. I kinda wanna like sift through it quietly. I like to hat down in the airport and just kinda and I'm not saying like I'm so famous. But I just kinda like to disappear and just get to where I'm going and Bob is Bobby was like if he could have fucking balloons and pop them every five feet.

• 55:40Speaker 07

  Right, right, right, right.

• 55:41Andrew Santino?

He would do he loves it.

• 55:43Speaker 07

Yeah, and it's and it's like life is like self-expression and.

• 55:46Andrew Santino?

  It's awesome. I wish I had that.

• 55:48Speaker 07

Dressing and like fashion and like I like look at me. I'm just running like I'm like I have a black sweater, regular shoes, you know.

• 55:54Andrew Santino?

I'm about as how many I have I have four colors that I wear. If you if they did a a montage of me on this show or the other one, it's like.

• 56:01Speaker 07

  A pantone.

• 56:02Andrew Santino?

Yeah, it's it's it's this much on the color wheel. It's like a little tiny sliver. But that's only because I think it's a personality thing in our business. You're either like this or you're the the exact opposite. It's hard. It's hard to go through both. Like when you meet people in our business, they're usually loud and big and they want it all, especially in the comedian world. Well, like we talked before a little bit about how our worlds do cross, but there is still a weird.

• 56:27Speaker 07

Yeah, I was saying I feel like coming to a foreign country coming here and I'm very gracious for you to have me. I'm very nice of you to have me.

• 56:33Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, well, I've.

• 56:34Speaker 07

But I don't know the world and I don't, you know, I don't, I'm not, I don't know a lot of this. We we probably know a lot, some of the same people, but so it does feel like different nation states of.

• 56:46Andrew Santino?

  It does.

• 56:47Speaker 07

  Of comedy.

• 56:48Andrew Santino?

Well, I what I found is I've gotten older. When I was young, when I was younger, it was always this weird competitive thing of like the sketch and improv worlds versus the improv world. But when I started, I came, moved out here in like oh six, oh seven. And back then, a lot of the rooms that were available for me as a stand-up were on the east side and they were kind of alternative rooms, like the El Cid's or

• 57:08Speaker 07

  Right, yeah.

• 57:09Andrew Santino?

You know, um, what was it, Gower Gulch, right, kind of Tiger Lily and, you know, like a lot of that stuff kind of was home to me.

• 57:14Speaker 07

  That hotel, that hotel.

• 57:15Andrew Santino?

  Hotel Cafe.

• 57:16Speaker 07

Yeah, not Hotel Cafe, but there was like a Radisson Inn or something like that.

• 57:20Andrew Santino?

  Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 57:21Speaker 07

  On Vermont.

• 57:22Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, Vermont, yeah.

• 57:22Speaker 07

  Shows in the basement, yeah.

• 57:24Andrew Santino?

And Virgil, it's like all these kind of things were where we could get in if we were young because the clubs wouldn't want us there and

• 57:30Speaker 07

Yeah, and all those places looked to have, like, you, stand-ups were welcome because you were, you can just come and do ten, fifteen minutes.

• 57:38Andrew Santino?

  And just fuck around, yeah.

• 57:39Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah.

• 57:40Andrew Santino?

So I knew, so that world I knew so well, so like, Rutherford and I kind of were, came up together a little bit. And then, it is kind of fun when you see guys break into their own world and then you grow into your adult brain and you're like, oh wow, there's way more people in that world that I love and respect that we just don't see or cross paths. But when you're young, it's this weird competitive.

• 58:00Speaker 07

Well, I mean, I remember going to like, I mean, you guys all talk about the store. My feeling of the store is always like, oh, this is a place, that's a dark place that I am not welcome.

• 58:09Andrew Santino?

It is, it's a dark place. You are welcome.

• 58:11Speaker 07

I don't like the energy, I mean, I, I've tried, I've done a few things there that I felt like, that's probably, no disrespect

• 58:19Andrew Santino?

  Sure.

• 58:20Speaker 07

to anybody there, but I was sort of like, ah, this is, I can, I'm gonna stay in my little world.

• 58:25Andrew Santino?

  Sure, yeah.

• 58:26Speaker 07

Uh, so, there is, there is the feeling of there, there's that side and there's the other side, but, um, also it's just, well, go ahead.

• 58:35Andrew Santino?

Let me give you an alternate viewpoint on this.

• 58:36Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 58:37Andrew Santino?

  Because I, I, I know this feeling.

• 58:38Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 58:38Andrew Santino?

But I've drug guys from both sides to both ways. I think, I feel like I'm, I'm a little bit of a conduit for this, like, Rory would always say stuff about it.

• 58:48Speaker 07

  Rory Scoville?

• 58:48Andrew Santino?

Yeah, and then he would go, there is only one, and we just call him Rory.

• 58:51Speaker 07

  That's true, yeah.

• 58:53Andrew Santino?

Uh, but Rory used to say that a lot, and then he would come around and I do understand it, but then when you sink into the world and of like, our original room feels, it's a black box theater and it feels exactly like

• 59:05Speaker 07

  Anywhere, yeah.

• 59:06Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, anywhere.

• 59:06Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 59:07Andrew Santino?

And the, more guys have come over, more guys and girls have come over and they like it and my, my pitch was, whenever guys would make fun of me from the east side that I knew, they'd be like, ah, the fucking Comedy Store, and I'd say, look at it like this, though. That place is a true testament of not your audience because on the East Side Rooms, there's a lot of locals, you know, a lot of like Silver Lake, Los Feliz people, and that's great. But like, that place is filled with tourists, different races and genders and classes.

• 59:34Speaker 07

Oh, yeah, for sure. So. A general, a true general audience.

• 59:37Andrew Santino?

That's the public. So to me, I was like, if you're looking to see how you do on a broad spectrum, this place kind of has that in its bones. And our history, that place historically had just the most.

• 59:49Speaker 07

  Oh, sure.

• 59:49Andrew Santino?

Weird, creative, like loose, free, wild. So I always pitched people that perspective. I was like, come try it.

• 59:56Speaker 07

  Right.

• 59:56Andrew Santino?

Because I do understand there is the, the, the undercurrent of like yucky, bro-y.

• 1:00:01Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:00:02Andrew Santino?

And that always exists in places.

• 1:00:04Speaker 07

Yeah, I mean, I also am like, I, you know, I did this, I do a stand-up character.

• 1:00:09Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:10Speaker 07

  I'm sure you've seen it.

• 1:00:11Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, it's great, yeah.

• 1:00:11Speaker 07

And it's very, you know, it is confrontational towards stand-up comedy itself.

• 1:00:15Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, yeah, it's great.

• 1:00:16Speaker 07

And I actually did it at the Comedy Store once.

• 1:00:19Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:20Speaker 07

  And it did not work.

• 1:00:21Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:22Speaker 07

  You know, and.

• 1:00:22Andrew Santino?

  But it did.

• 1:00:23Speaker 07

Well, it did in a sense.

• 1:00:25Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:25Speaker 07

Um, I've done it, you know, I do that character, if I do it for what I would call my crowd, uh, they, it's, it's a totally different energy.

• 1:00:35Andrew Santino?

  Sure.

• 1:00:35Speaker 07

It's full, it's actual laughter at the right places, you know?

• 1:00:38Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 1:00:39Speaker 07

Um, I've kind of, and, and so I actually did it there, I think Duncan Trussell and Natasha Leggero coaxed me over there. This was ten or more years ago, but they, they saw it as like a prank, you know? Let's do a prank, but not everybody saw it that way. And, and I understand that it's sort of like, come on, this is our, this is what we do. And you're being kind of an asshole about it, you know, and.

• 1:01:03Andrew Santino?

I would have taken it the other way.

• 1:01:04Speaker 07

I know, and, and a lot of people.

• 1:01:06Andrew Santino?

  Cause I love that.

• 1:01:06Speaker 07

And a lot of people would.

• 1:01:07Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:08Speaker 07

  But some people.

• 1:01:08Andrew Santino?

  People with, uh.

• 1:01:09Speaker 07

But, uh, yeah, a couple of, a couple of noodles.

• 1:01:11Andrew Santino?

Couple of things flying around, yeah.

• 1:01:13Speaker 07

But, um. I don't know. There was a guy there. I can't, and you'll know who this person is. I don't, I can't tell you who it is. But he was like the booker there or somebody.

• 1:01:22Andrew Santino?

Oh, the, okay, the old manager, yeah.

• 1:01:24Speaker 07

And he was very sweet, but it was, he took me at, at, on, on the fa- as, as if I was truly trying.

• 1:01:31Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:32Speaker 07

To be a comedian. And he was like, you know, you just gotta keep at it. Maybe you should come back on a, on a quieter night, on a Tuesday or something and we get you earlier. And, but you just keep working at it, you know, like very encouraging.

• 1:01:45Andrew Santino?

  Giving you notes.

• 1:01:45Speaker 07

Yeah. But there, I don't know, there's something like, I mean, with the sketch and making stuff, like, there's something more collaborative to me than.

• 1:01:55Andrew Santino?

  Totally.

• 1:01:56Speaker 07

Obviously, you know, with stand-up, it's a, it's one per- it's you and the audience. And, uh, you, I'm sure you have, you have tremendous camaraderie with your, your colleagues.

• 1:02:07Andrew Santino?

Some of them, yeah. Like any, I mean, some of them you get, you get on with. But what I'm curious of is like, in our world.

• 1:02:14Speaker 00

Let's be honest. You don't go to the holiday gift exchange just to participate. You go to win. This year, cause a stir. Gift a KitchenAid stand mixer to whip up new traditions. Tis your season to mix it up.

• 1:02:29Andrew Santino?

You know, as we get older, we all get so busy and we're all just touring and trying to put together our shit.

• 1:02:33Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:02:34Andrew Santino?

You just see people less. Does that happen with you guys too? That you're just, it's harder and harder as time? Because when you're young, it is collaborative. You're like, we're all working and then you'll tag people's bits and go, hey, man, I've heard this joke I really liked. And do you want a tag or two?

• 1:02:46Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:02:47Andrew Santino?

And so it became this great community. But then you get older, you almost don't see anybody anymore.

• 1:02:51Speaker 07

No, I mean, that's the beauty of what we do, what you do here and what I do with the office hours. I, I'm bringing people into my house, literally.

• 1:02:59Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 1:03:00Speaker 07

Uh, and so I keep in touch with people often that way. I mean. And meet new people, all sorts of people that I didn't know. My producer helps so much to find new people that I wouldn't have. I'm not out watching stuff. But, you know, people like John Early or Cape Beland.

• 1:03:18Andrew Santino?

  So funny.

• 1:03:19Speaker 07

Um, these people, so many other people that I've, you know, my memory wouldn't work. But I go like, and I maintain relationships through booking them on the show.

• 1:03:29Andrew Santino?

Yeah, that is, is the way we hang out.

• 1:03:32Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:03:32Andrew Santino?

And I found it funny, you had Mooney on.

• 1:03:34Speaker 07

Yeah, yeah, another one, another one.

• 1:03:36Andrew Santino?

You hate Kyle Mooney and you've said this very publicly often.

• 1:03:38Speaker 07

  Yeah, very publicly.

• 1:03:39Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:39Speaker 07

Well, I mean, obviously you're joking, but. We do.

• 1:03:43Andrew Santino?

When you say that, it sounds like I'm not.

• 1:03:45Speaker 07

I know, I know. Here's the thing, when I get to go to Kyle off camera and when we're together, we do the same routine. You know, we just do this routine of I ask him stupid questions, I insult him, you know, and I put him in uncomfortable positions and we, it's fucking play, it's just all play. It is recreation. I don't know how else, like, I don't really know how to relate to most, I don't know how to relate to people that don't operate that way. You know, I'm sure you might have this feeling of like, if you're talking to somebody that isn't, I'm not talking, you don't have to be in comedy, but you have to be kind of funny.

• 1:04:24Andrew Santino?

You have to just get it.

• 1:04:25Speaker 07

Yeah, or just be, like, I don't want to be on all the time, obviously, that's obnoxious. But you want to be open to play and open to try, like, just pretending and doing bits and stuff. And Kyle's like that, and so when he comes on the show, we just immediately lock into that.

• 1:04:43Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, that's great.

• 1:04:44Speaker 07

But you know the world, how the world is now.

• 1:04:46Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, they think it's real.

• 1:04:47Speaker 07

People go, people are so quick to go, first of all, can you imagine asking a question on, in a comment section? Why?

• 1:04:59Speaker 07

What is the, what value, like?

• 1:05:01Andrew Santino?

Why is he treating him like this?

• 1:05:02Speaker 07

No one is gonna give you the right answer.

• 1:05:04Andrew Santino?

There is no right answer, that's the best part. It doesn't even exist.

• 1:05:07Speaker 07

And, don't, don't worry about it.

• 1:05:09Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, it's for fun.

• 1:05:10Speaker 07

Sit back, and maybe the answer will come to you at some point. But I feel bad, like, you know, I don't, and I don't wanna answer and anything.

• 1:05:17Andrew Santino?

  You cannot.

• 1:05:18Speaker 07

But, you'd just be like, "God, I feel like, I'm embarrassed that you're asking that question."

• 1:05:23Andrew Santino?

It's so weird, questions, and, I mean, I've done, I've gotten caught up with these times.

• 1:05:26Speaker 07

Or ask a friend, like, go out, like, don't write.

• 1:05:28Andrew Santino?

  Go get a buddy.

• 1:05:29Speaker 07

Say like, "Can I show you something? What do you think?", you know?

• 1:05:32Andrew Santino?

But I don't think they do, I think that's a very insulated... This is, I'm seeing it just at face value, and I'm gonna judge it immediately, and then check out.

• 1:05:42Speaker 07

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:05:42Andrew Santino?

I did a podcast with this girl, Bobby Althoff, who's like a, she became pretty big in the last couple of years. And deliberately, I was playing a character where I was just really mean. Just like cruel, just cruel.

• 1:05:53Speaker 07

Oh, it's so fun to do.

• 1:05:54Andrew Santino?

It was so fun, and people were like, "What the fuck is this guy's problem?"

• 1:05:57Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:05:57Andrew Santino?

It's like, "Do you not know, if this was real, and we didn't like each other, this wouldn't have come out."

• 1:06:02Speaker 07

  Right, no, I know.

• 1:06:03Andrew Santino?

Like, "What the fuck do you think is going on?"

• 1:06:04Speaker 07

Kate Berlant did this on our show last year, she's a queen of this too, but she just like, out of nowhere, like, five minutes into the podcast, she's like, "You know what, I don't like the energy here, and I don't like the way you're talking to me, and I think I'm just gonna go."

• 1:06:18Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:06:18Speaker 07

You know, and, I'm sorry, and, and it was very well performed.

• 1:06:22Andrew Santino?

  She's so good.

• 1:06:23Speaker 07

You know, and I performed it pretty well, but again, it's like, "What do you think we're doing here?" Like, we're playing or goofing around.

• 1:06:30Andrew Santino?

What do you think we're doing here, dude? But I think because we can, okay, I think it's a testament to how good you are.

• 1:06:35Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:06:35Andrew Santino?

That people don't know, like, I don't even know you, but I feel the energy of who you are and when you can shift.

• 1:06:40Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:06:41Andrew Santino?

And I think if people don't really get that, they see you in one way, and they think that might be permanently who you are, and they see you in another way, and they go, "Well, I don't really like, I don't know if I like this." It's like something I can hear my dad saying, "You know, I didn't like when I, you know, I saw that, and I didn't like that."

• 1:06:56Speaker 07

But I grew up, like, going back to Letterman, like, uh, Letterman could be that way. God, I saw the funniest little clip, I, on Instagram, he was talking to Johnny Cash.

• 1:07:06Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:07:06Speaker 07

And Johnny, it was in the eighties, and Johnny Cash was saying how he, there was this one night where he had Joni Mitchell, and Bob Dylan, and Graham Nash, and a, a couple other people, uh, Kris Kristofferson, and, and he was just kind of taking his time with the story, and they were all, uh, each... Playing, uh, played Marrakesh Express and Both Sides Now and Bob played Lay Lady Lay. And it was that, they were, those songs were all played for the first time. And Letterman goes, "Wow, jeez, did you have snacks?" And it was so fucking good. And it was just like so quick and, you know, of course Bob, I mean, of course they wouldn't have said that if it was just Johnny,

• 1:07:48Speaker 07

I mean, just Johnny Cash sitting around at his, like, you know, maybe, maybe he would feel comfortable doing that. But, um, I don't know. Yes, that, it's just how we, it's how we play.

• 1:07:58Andrew Santino?

Those moments though are so fu- he historically was so good at,

• 1:08:01Speaker 07

  Right.

• 1:08:02Andrew Santino?

At like, um, the Crispin Glover.

• 1:08:04Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:08:05Andrew Santino?

  Those were so fucking fun.

• 1:08:06Speaker 07

Kind of more, that, that was a bit of a tangent with Johnny Cash, but just like the, um, Charles Grodin on that show or Albert Brooks, both of them, Charles Grodin would come in, I don't know if you've watched some of those clips.

• 1:08:20Andrew Santino?

I've seen, I've seen a few of them, yeah, on tech, on Instagram.

• 1:08:23Speaker 07

There's a longer one, I always recommend is Charles Grodin on Johnny Carson. And it's one of my favorite pieces of art, honestly, uh, where he, he's, he pushes Johnny Carson about whether or not Johnny likes doing this and does, if he cares, he asks the question, "Do you care about anything?" And it goes on for eight or nine minutes.

• 1:08:46Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:46Speaker 07

And it's super uncomfortable and there's truth in it, but there's also them playing and Johnny is in heaven. You could tell.

• 1:08:55Andrew Santino?

  He loved it.

• 1:08:56Speaker 07

Loves it. And the audience was smart then, they, no offense.

• 1:09:01Speaker 07

They were laughing, they were laughing in the right places.

• 1:09:03Andrew Santino?

  They get it, yeah.

• 1:09:04Speaker 07

But if you're sitting at home, maybe not.

• 1:09:06Andrew Santino?

But I think cause Johnny was, and Letterman was just like him to me, and Johnny had that thing with guests where, um, if he didn't really like them, it was almost so much more fun.

• 1:09:17Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:09:17Andrew Santino?

Because he was like, he was ver- and Letterman was the same way. If he didn't really love them that much.

• 1:09:22Speaker 07

Letterman had this thing where he had Mickey Rooney on in the eighties. And Mickey Rooney at the time was, had just gotten married to this young cabaret singer. And he was trying to peddle her, his wife out and, and promote her album and, and that she was singing at this Italian restaurant. And it was very embarrassing.

• 1:09:42Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:09:43Speaker 07

But Letterman was like a cat with catnip, you know, he, he was in heaven. Because he was just playing with this idea of little Mickey Rooney, old Mickey Rooney, sitting there with his wife on his, on his lap. And trying to sell tickets to her Italian restaurant cabaret show and, you know, he's asking about how much the record goes for in the store and, you know.

• 1:10:05Andrew Santino?

What do they sell it for?

• 1:10:06Speaker 07

  Yeah, exactly.

• 1:10:07Andrew Santino?

I love that. I can hear that. I can hear him doing that condescending like, uh, and people are buying it though, yeah. Which, he always had like a little, a little bit of, uh, make you question yourself. Oh, so good.

• 1:10:18Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:10:18Andrew Santino?

When he would ask a question like that. People are, people are going though, yeah.

• 1:10:21Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:10:22Andrew Santino?

It's such a fucking, it's just waiting for you to bury yourself like, no, no, no, that, yeah, no, we, we will, yeah, people are, uh, it will probably sell out, I hope.

• 1:10:30Speaker 07

Oh, there it is. Oh, look at that. I just, did I describe that perfectly or what?

• 1:10:34Andrew Santino?

Oh my god. And she, and she looks so.

• 1:10:37Speaker 07

And poor Mickey believes that this is, you know, this is important.

• 1:10:41Andrew Santino?

  Yes, this is meaningful.

• 1:10:43Speaker 07

This is a big shot and this is the next big step that we're gonna take as a, in our relationship and with your career, but.

• 1:10:51Andrew Santino?

I think that, I think we, well, to circle it back, I think you've brought it back in a way where, uh, Office Hours Live is great. And so you're kind of doing this playful new world that, that take on that. That's like the, uh, that's, to me, that's the new version of that. That's real good. It's so funny.

• 1:11:08Speaker 07

  Thank you.

• 1:11:09Andrew Santino?

  Please watch it.

• 1:11:10Speaker 07

I'm, I'm off to do our live Christmas show, uh, tonight. Are we allowed to say, are you, you let people say Christmas on this show or is, is that gonna be an issue?

• 1:11:18Andrew Santino?

I'd prefer you not, if you don't mind.

• 1:11:19Speaker 07

  With the demonetization?

• 1:11:21Andrew Santino?

Yeah, if you don't mind, you could just say holiday show.

• 1:11:23Speaker 07

I know the war is raging right now on Christmas. Yeah.

• 1:11:26Andrew Santino?

Yeah, you're doing a Christmas show tonight?

• 1:11:27Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:11:28Andrew Santino?

Is, is Robinson gonna be there to heckle you?

• 1:11:30Speaker 07

Uh, I haven't asked. I'm, I always hate asking people to do things.

• 1:11:34Andrew Santino?

  What? Who cares?

• 1:11:35Speaker 07

But I should. Uh, no, we've got some, well, this is, this will have come out already.

• 1:11:39Andrew Santino?

  Yeah, this will be out.

• 1:11:40Speaker 07

Um, and I'm going, I'm touring, I should, I, I mean, cause we just set this up through, we didn't set this up in any kind of official way.

• 1:11:46Andrew Santino?

  No, it was very unofficial.

• 1:11:47Speaker 07

  Very unofficial.

• 1:11:48Andrew Santino?

Which is kinda what I like.

• 1:11:49Speaker 07

Which, you can cut this out, but I did the, the, you're a guy.

• 1:11:52Andrew Santino?

The guy that plugged us together? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:11:54Speaker 07

He, I did the other show he does, Matan.

• 1:11:57Andrew Santino?

  Oh yeah, was that insane?

• 1:11:58Speaker 07

  It was so crazy.

• 1:12:00Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:00Speaker 07

Can I just tell you real quick?

• 1:12:01Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:02Speaker 07

And maybe you don't use this.

• 1:12:03Andrew Santino?

Yeah, cut this, Joe. Cut this out, Joe.

• 1:12:05Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:12:06Andrew Santino?

Cut it, cut it, cut it, cut it.

• 1:12:07Speaker 07

I don't want to ruin anything for him, but he, um, it was fun and I could tell right away he was like a big fan of mine.

• 1:12:12Andrew Santino?

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:12:13Speaker 07

And I was like, I know what this is. I know exactly what this is.

• 1:12:15Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:16Speaker 07

But, good for him, whatever. Um, but like halfway through the thing, he pulls out a knife.

• 1:12:21Andrew Santino?

  Hmm.

• 1:12:21Speaker 07

  Like a big, real knife.

• 1:12:23Andrew Santino?

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:12:24Speaker 07

It was not a joke knife.

• 1:12:25Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:25Speaker 07

  It was a real knife.

• 1:12:27Andrew Santino?

  No.

• 1:12:27Speaker 07

And I, it's kind of pub- it was, it's public, but it happened a long time ago. I was stabbed in the back twice.

• 1:12:34Andrew Santino?

  Yep.

• 1:12:35Speaker 07

  For real.

• 1:12:35Andrew Santino?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:36Speaker 07

And I'm not fucking around with a joke where a real knife. It's not.

• 1:12:41Andrew Santino?

  It's not a joke.

• 1:12:42Speaker 07

  It's not a joke.

• 1:12:43Andrew Santino?

  That's a real weapon.

• 1:12:43Speaker 07

  It's a real weapon.

• 1:12:44Andrew Santino?

  It's not even a joke.

• 1:12:45Speaker 07

  No, I know.

• 1:12:46Andrew Santino?

  It's like, that's not funny.

• 1:12:46Speaker 07

And I played through it. I just like, you know, I was confrontational about it. I got the knife off the set.

• 1:12:53Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 1:12:53Speaker 07

It started to try to come back. I go, if it comes back in, I'm gonna walk.

• 1:12:57Andrew Santino?

  Right.

• 1:12:58Speaker 07

You don't do, don't play around with real weapons.

• 1:13:01Andrew Santino?

  No.

• 1:13:01Speaker 07

And you're like Eric Andre's sketch.

• 1:13:03Andrew Santino?

Yeah, yeah, no, I don't want that.

• 1:13:04Speaker 07

  Anyways.

• 1:13:05Andrew Santino?

  Don't worry, but you're, you're touring.

• 1:13:07Speaker 07

I'm touring with my band and some, and Kyle Mooney is opening up at Neil Hamburger. You must love Neil Hamburger. One of the kings.

• 1:13:14Andrew Santino?

  One of the kings.

• 1:13:15Speaker 07

  DJ Doug Pound.

• 1:13:17Andrew Santino?

  D-D-D-DJ Doug Pound.

• 1:13:18Speaker 07

  In the mix.

• 1:13:19Andrew Santino?

In the mix, dude, I love that guy.

• 1:13:21Speaker 07

But I've been playing music now. My band is fantastic. Uh, we, it's a night of comedy and music and, uh...

• 1:13:29Andrew Santino?

You need it. You need it, to be honest. I was gonna tell you, I can't open up another tab. I was like, just give me the page, dude.

• 1:13:39Speaker 07

  Yeah, it's a hyperlink.

• 1:13:41Andrew Santino?

It is. It has to be. Cause you're, you're a hyper cool dude.

• 1:13:44Speaker 07

  I appreciate it.

• 1:13:45Andrew Santino?

Go to Tim Heidecker Live. Go see the shows. Please watch, uh...

• 1:13:48Speaker 07

Don't go to Tim Heidecker Live. Go to TimHydecker.com.

• 1:13:50Andrew Santino?

Go to TimHydecker.com slash live. We'll put the description down below. Um, I appreciate you coming by.

• 1:13:55Speaker 07

  It was really nice.

• 1:13:55Andrew Santino?

This was very wonderful. I hope, uh, I hope I see you again sooner than later.

• 1:13:58Speaker 07

  Yeah.

• 1:13:59Andrew Santino?

I, I do, um, I can't, obviously can't go now, but I do want to come to, uh, an Office Hours Live.

• 1:14:05Speaker 07

  I'd love to have you.

• 1:14:05Andrew Santino?

Cause I think they're so cool.

• 1:14:06Speaker 07

  I'd love to have you.

• 1:14:07Andrew Santino?

They're so rad. Alright, we end the show the same way. Look into that camera right there. One word or one phrase to end the episode. It used to be a word and then people were like, well, what if I want to impart a word, a, a phrase of wisdom upon people?

• 1:14:22Speaker 07

  Uh, cl- uh, cork.

• 1:14:25Speaker 04

In here, we pour whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey, whiskey.

• 1:14:31Speaker 05

Oh, that creature in the ginger beard!

• 1:14:33Speaker 06

  Sturdy, ginger.

• 1:14:34Speaker 05

Like peppers, the ginger gene is a curse.

• 1:14:37Speaker 06

Ginger's a puget. You owe me five dollars for the whiskey, and seventy-five dollars for the horse. Ginger's? Aw, hell no! The whiskey is excellent. Ginger. I like gingers.
