This is a story about never giving up, about changing your circumstances, no matter where you are at in your life, no matter what you're going through, no matter how old you are, no matter how young you are, your education level, no matter how much money you have, or how broke and in debt you are. You can always change your current situation by doing things differently. Keep going. Believe in yourself and believe in your dreams. Once there was an older man who was broke, living in a tiny house and who had a beat-up car. He was living off just $99 a month of social security checks. That's all he was

making, 99 bucks a month. And at 65 years of age, he decided that things needed to change. At 65, he had the foresight to finally make this shift. 65 years old. So he thought about what he had to offer to the world. What was his value that he could actually create in the world for others to bring joy and happiness into the world? His friends raved about his chicken recipe. It was so unique, so different. No one had ever tasted anything like it before. So he decided that that was his best shot of making a change. And again, this was at 65 years of age. So he was living in Kentucky and he left Kentucky

and traveled to different states to try to sell his recipe. He told restaurant owners that he had mouth-watering chicken recipe that they would all want. He offered the recipe to them for free, just asking for a small percentage on the items sold. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me, right? Unfortunately, none of the restaurants were interested. None of them thought it was a good deal. He heard no over 1,000 times. Even after all those rejections, he didn't give up. He kept going. He believed his chicken recipe was something special. He got rejected 1,009 times before he heard his first yes. With that one success,

on the 1,009th time, Harland Sanders changed the way Americans eat chicken. Kentucky Fried Chicken, popularly known as KFC, was born.

And this has changed the way that people eat chicken. Remember, never give up and always believe in yourself. No matter what type of rejection you go through, no matter how old you are, no matter how young, no matter your lack of education, your lack of finances, your lack of resources. Find that one thing that adds value to people. Find that one thing that people are looking for. Find that thing that inspires others, that brings them joy, that makes them feel closer together, makes them feel connected, makes them feel special, feel like they're part of a community bigger than themselves. Find something. And if you're 65, you're making 99 bucks a month. It's not the time to give up and start dying.

Now is the time to start doing something with your life. You've had 65 years. Have you lived your life fully? Or did you just make it through and just kind of coast through life? And now you're just coasting through to the end. Screw that. Do something to make an impact. Do something that inspires the people around you. Support your family. Lift the people up who've been there for you. Be a part of your community. Do something that is greater than yourself. Don't just coast through life. Keep going.
