• 0:00Matt Farah?

What's up everybody? Welcome to the Smoking Tire Podcast. It's a big week here on the podcast and Off the Record is still with us. Of course, if you want to use Off the Record, we have a new code for this year, TST25 on the Off the Record app. Throw away your old codes or go to offtherecord.com/tst. Why should you do such things? Well, let's say you get a ticket. You've been pulled over for something and are ticketed. Don't argue with that police officer on the side of the road. Instead, take that ticket and call or go on the app to Off

• 0:40Matt Farah?

the Record and then they help fight that ticket and most of the time in most of the cases, make it either go away or drastically reduce it. It is the best. And if you use our code with the Off the Record app, again, that's code TST25, you'll save an additional 10%. Listen, Off the Record does not cost a lot of money compared to even just paying the fine and the ticket, let alone the other things about that moving violation that could cause problems with your insurance, your potential employment, etc. Don't plead guilty. Get off the record. Go

• 1:17Matt Farah?

to offtherecord.com/tst or use code TST25 on the Off the Record app. All right, on this episode of the podcast, my friend Dean Del Rey, he is a very funny comedian, actor, and his podcast, Let There Be Talk, has almost as many episodes as we do. He has played in bands and he has his first ever feature-length comedy special, 5836, coming out this week. And 5836 is the number of comedy sets he has done in his life, 5,836. He's great.

• 1:59Matt Farah?

We talk about Porsches. We get along on pretty much all levels, watches, guitars, collectible stuff, homes, aesthetics. I love this dude. He opens for Bill Burr. He is the man. Dean Del Rey is in studio. It's the Smoking Tire Podcast. Let's go.

• 2:18Matt Farah?

What do you do in the daytime in Vegas?

• 2:20Speaker 01

I got lucky, man. I love, uh, farm to table food. I like clean. I like to eat clean.

• 2:26Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 2:26Speaker 01

I'm not like some bougie dude, but I'm trying to eat clean because I had diabetes and I beat that shit like seven years ago. Yeah. So, uh, a guy, uh, at Dream Racing turned me on to this restaurant called Public US or Public Us. And I met this guy, Coco, who's the owner. He's got like a table in the corner. And he wanted to have like a, a cafe, like a New York style kinda hip place, um, where people could hang. So my buddy took me there. It turns out him and this other guy, Cam, are full on Porsche freaks.

• 3:03Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 3:03Speaker 01

You know? And so there it is. You can see the food. It's fantastic.

• 3:08Matt Farah?

  Looks, looks like quality food.

• 3:09Speaker 01

  This place is fucking.

• 3:11Matt Farah?

Okay. Oh, it's Fremont Street. Of course. Yeah. This is where like good things are.

• 3:14Speaker 01

Right. So I go every day in the morning. I hang with these guys. So it feels like I'm in LA.

• 3:19Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 3:19Speaker 01

Like at all time, my other favorite restaurant.

• 3:21Matt Farah?

Hanging out, hanging out at that part of Vegas is, is a much better.

• 3:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 3:26Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 3:27Speaker 01

So these guys both have Dakars.

• 3:29Matt Farah?

  Oh, they do. Sick.

• 3:31Speaker 01

They both have, uh, Defender, um.

• 3:34Matt Farah?

I saw a picture of you down your Instagram with a couple of Dakars. Yeah.

• 3:38Speaker 01

  But they're driving them, man.

• 3:39Matt Farah?

Yeah, they're great. They're good fun, aren't they?

• 3:41Speaker 01

  Oh, dream car.

• 3:43Matt Farah?

Did you get to drive them on dirt at all? Did you drive them on dirt at all?

• 3:47Speaker 01

Oh, well, we were getting ready to drive on dirt, but they, they were going on a trip and they didn't want to leave the dirt on the car.

• 3:54Matt Farah?

  Oh.

• 3:54Speaker 01

So next month I'm going to drive into dirt because it'd be all in there for months.

• 3:58Matt Farah?

Got to do that underside detail.

• 4:00Speaker 01

  Yeah, a hundred percent.

• 4:01Matt Farah?

It's not a big deal as long as it's not like mud. If it's like just sand, sand is pretty easy. Mud is a mess.

• 4:07Speaker 01

It was like slight mud. It's a big fucking, I mean, Death Valley out there. You could see guys out there. There's no law. It's road water.

• 4:15Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 4:15Speaker 01

And they're just out there, bah!

• 4:17Matt Farah?

Well, that's, we just went to the King of the Hammers. Have you heard of that shit? It's a giant off-road race in the desert. It's like a week or so of, of racing.

• 4:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 4:27Matt Farah?

And it's a hundred mile course. And then at the start finish, there's a big quote, you know, city.

• 4:32Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 4:33Matt Farah?

They build of RVs and whatever.

• 4:35Speaker 01

  Oh, I know.

• 4:36Matt Farah?

  And then, you know.

• 4:39Matt Farah?

The racing is one thing, right? That's there's that's official with, you know, tech and professionals, right?

• 4:45Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 4:45Matt Farah?

  But at night, mayhem.

• 4:48Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 4:49Matt Farah?

Just anyone with their personal rig, just doing anything. This was, this was-

• 4:54Speaker 01

It's like Burning Man, but with cars.

• 4:56Matt Farah?

Yes, basically, basically. Probably less drugs, a lot more alcohol.

• 5:01Speaker 01

  Right, yeah.

• 5:02Matt Farah?

Um, but like, people, you know, just doing crazy shit in cars all through the night. So, pretty wild stuff.

• 5:08Speaker 02

Some of the shit they do.

• 5:09Speaker 01

Yeah, uh, you know, I grew up around people that did this kinda shit all the time. Hanford, California, sand rails.

• 5:20Matt Farah?

  Is that in the middle?

• 5:20Speaker 01

That's not where I grew up, but I'm sure we'd go out to this place, they have sand rails.

• 5:24Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 5:24Speaker 01

And, uh, and these guys that, you know-

• 5:27Matt Farah?

Well, these are the new versions of sand rails. It's, it's heavily modified, side by sides, and then you have like, production sort of level-

• 5:35Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 5:36Matt Farah?

Tube chassis, like, is Buckshot still a company? Do you remember that thing?

• 5:40Speaker 02

  Oh, Buckshot, X2R Racing.

• 5:42Matt Farah?

  Buckshot Racing?

• 5:42Speaker 02

I don't know if they are, but there's a lot of that stuff. Like, twin turbo V8s shoved into sand rails. But the suspension technology is so evolved. We saw like, two sand rails out there.

• 5:51Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 5:51Speaker 02

But they don't have a ton of suspension, they're meant to just be on smooth sand, almost like-

• 5:55Speaker 01

  Yeah, they're more like Dragsters.

• 5:56Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 5:57Speaker 01

For the sand, they got the paddle tires.

• 5:59Speaker 02

  Exactly.

• 5:59Matt Farah?

Yeah, it's like, that's a real like, 60's vibe, Pismo Beach type of shit. Yeah, now, it's about like, going really fast over whoops, so it's about, you know, your travel.

• 6:09Speaker 01

I play the lottery every week, for two reasons. First, it's an ode to my mom, cause she would always say, "When I win the lottery", and I've turned into her, rest in peace, but-

• 6:20Matt Farah?

  Play the same number?

• 6:22Speaker 01

  Huh?

• 6:22Matt Farah?

  Same number?

• 6:23Speaker 01

  Same number?

• 6:24Matt Farah?

Play the same numbers every week, on the lottery?

• 6:26Speaker 01

No, I don't. I just go in, "Give me the ticket."

• 6:29Matt Farah?

A quick, uh, quick pick or whatever?

• 6:30Speaker 01

Yeah, Joshua Tree, Pipes Canyon, it's, uh, it's out behind, um, Pioneer Town.

• 6:36Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 6:37Speaker 01

And it's one of my favorite places on earth, it's like Mars, all these like, it's basically Malibu with no water. It's like extremely rich billionaires that are hiding- From, you know.

• 6:49Matt Farah?

  I know what you mean.

• 6:50Speaker 01

  CEO shootings.

• 6:51Matt Farah?

  Yeah, I know.

• 6:52Speaker 01

  You know what I mean?

• 6:52Speaker 02

Yeah, they build a base in the middle of a mountain.

• 6:54Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 6:55Speaker 01

You go out there and you go, oh, what the fuck's going on out here? And they're like, oh, oh, Bezo. All of that.

• 7:01Matt Farah?

But it's like, it's all, it's like architectural stuff, right? Isn't that the house that looks like the, almost like the Sydney Opera House style of architecture?

• 7:08Speaker 01

  That one's out there.

• 7:09Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 7:09Speaker 01

Uh, the one I stay at is called Hawken Mesa, which is a hundred and thirty acres and you're no one around.

• 7:16Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 7:17Speaker 01

Uh, that kind of stuff and not out of reach money wise, um, but you know, uh, not a Dakar because it's an automatic, but make a Dakar out of like, uh, this one that I, I really wanted on, um, on P car last week, a T made into a, a full on.

• 7:38Matt Farah?

So there's a guy, and I'm sorry for forgetting his name. No, there's a guy here.

• 7:43Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 7:43Matt Farah?

Who I see at that Porsche Santa Clarita.

• 7:46Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 7:46Matt Farah?

Cars and Coffee all the time, who took a regular Carrera 4S.

• 7:51Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 7:51Matt Farah?

And basically made it into it. You could buy most of the Dakar parts.

• 7:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 7:57Matt Farah?

  And put them on yourself.

• 7:58Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 7:59Matt Farah?

Um, the suspension, the over fenders. So Porsche's, I, I, you know, I want a manual Dakar too.

• 8:05Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 8:06Matt Farah?

Porsche's argument is that PTV plus, which is their active torque vectoring, only works with PDK.

• 8:13Speaker 01

  Oh, wow.

• 8:13Matt Farah?

  Fair, like fair.

• 8:15Speaker 01

  Right.

• 8:16Matt Farah?

Doesn't mean I wouldn't rather drive a stick one with a mechanical rear diff. I still would.

• 8:20Speaker 01

  Yeah, I just.

• 8:21Matt Farah?

But I understand what they're doing. And also like economies of scale, I think, like it's a niche product. So offering it with both gearboxes would be possibly probably expensive.

• 8:31Speaker 01

I just, uh, I love the idea of having a Dakar because it's up high and there's no, you know, front lift to get up onto the, uh, you know, just your driveway.

• 8:45Matt Farah?

  Yeah. Dude, they're so.

• 8:47Speaker 01

  Potholes in LA? Come on.

• 8:49Matt Farah?

Well, when, I think when we met first, I was driving my air cooled safari car.

• 8:55Speaker 01

That's when we met and I go, oh, I want that, man.

• 8:57Matt Farah?

I mean, that, that. That was great for the city too, same thing, and that had even more clearance and even more travel.

• 9:02Speaker 01

  Right.

• 9:03Matt Farah?

Um, if, if only for the, uh, if only because of the, the clutch was so heavy that I ended up getting rid of it and getting that pink car downstairs.

• 9:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 9:10Matt Farah?

But, um, but the, the, the, it's so funny, cause like both Lamborghini and Porsche. Are, at least last year, were making lifted sports cars.

• 9:20Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 9:21Matt Farah?

And also like super hardcore SUVs. And I tested the Urus Performante, which is the hardcore Lamborghini SUV. Like maybe a month apart from testing the Dakar and the, and the, and the Storato, the, the Huracan. And the, the Storato, the lifted supercar is more fun, more interesting. And actually a much better riding car than the hardcore SUV, which is actually quite stupid. Right? Like, what do you, what do you need a hard, a hardcore Urus Performante for?

• 10:00Speaker 01

I don't think you need anything. I do like that companies go for it with different stuff. I like that.

• 10:06Matt Farah?

  Fair.

• 10:06Speaker 01

Like, it's like, oh, cool. They tried something. I wouldn't buy it. But, you know, there's a lot of people that look at like the Dakar and they go like, that's dumb. And I just see it and go, oh, fuck, I love that.

• 10:17Matt Farah?

I don't think people who know cars think it's dumb.

• 10:19Speaker 01

  No, no.

• 10:20Matt Farah?

I think people who know cars understand exactly what that is. And it's a real shame, like. The automatic thing is a little bit of a bummer, but I've, you've driven them enough now, like, I get it. It, it does work. But it's, it's a, the biggest bummer about the Dakar is that it's a limited edition thing, which makes it collectible.

• 10:39Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 10:40Matt Farah?

  That car's gotta be disposable.

• 10:42Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 10:42Matt Farah?

That's what you, you want a Dakar or a Storato that is a thing for fun and throw in the garbage.

• 10:50Speaker 01

Yeah, well, that's my thing. Like, I have to. Win the lottery. I said it when I was driving the Dakar on my Instagram. I go, you have to have fuck you money. To because to me, anything I ever get at any time, uh oh, no work this month. This is out of here.

• 11:05Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 11:05Speaker 01

I keep working. I call it my parachutes. So now I don't want any, I don't mind rocks and shit chipping it.

• 11:12Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 11:13Speaker 01

But if I have to sell it, you know how Porsche people are. They show up with these four guys with fucking binoculars and, and like, you know. Microscopes. And they're like, uh oh, there's a flathead screw here.

• 11:27Matt Farah?

  Try selling a Ferrari. Woo!

• 11:31Matt Farah?

  Yikes.

• 11:32Speaker 01

Hold on, let me show you something. I just want to show you guys this because I think to me.

• 11:38Matt Farah?

This is showing us things on your phone is great for radio, by the way.

• 11:41Speaker 01

Yeah, no, but I'm just showing you. Describe it. Because you guys can look it up and we could see it on the screen works, right? Okay, so let me give you the site here.

• 11:53Matt Farah?

While you're looking, is that the Tornic Rayville reissue, which I very much like?

• 11:57Speaker 01

  Oh, here you go.

• 11:59Matt Farah?

  I assume it's not.

• 12:00Speaker 01

  No, it is.

• 12:01Matt Farah?

  Is it original?

• 12:02Speaker 01

  No, no, it's a.

• 12:03Matt Farah?

  It's the reissue, right?

• 12:04Speaker 01

I think it's the greatest $900 watch of all time.

• 12:07Matt Farah?

Yeah. Oh, it's like a Unimatic, but that looks good.

• 12:12Speaker 01

  It's, it's a.

• 12:13Matt Farah?

  That's quite nice.

• 12:14Speaker 01

  It's Tornic, man, and it's.

• 12:15Matt Farah?

  900 bucks, huh?

• 12:16Speaker 01

  900 bucks, man.

• 12:18Matt Farah?

I am on board. And the strap feels really nice. The double thick NATO.

• 12:22Speaker 01

I put the strap on there. Okay, so.

• 12:24Matt Farah?

Who makes this strap? This is a good strap.

• 12:26Speaker 01

  Um, that is, uh.

• 12:28Matt Farah?

  Does it say Bob something?

• 12:30Speaker 01

No, here, it's, it's something, uh, I just got it. It's like.

• 12:33Matt Farah?

  I like that strap.

• 12:34Speaker 01

Hold on, it's like something sail, a blue shark.

• 12:37Matt Farah?

Blue, oh, blue shark. Yeah, okay, all right, yeah. No, that's, it's good. It's good, and it's double thick.

• 12:43Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 12:43Matt Farah?

I don't, I don't love most NATO straps, but this.

• 12:46Speaker 01

  I don't either.

• 12:46Matt Farah?

This has a, a, a very upscale, uh, it really works with the, with this particular watch.

• 12:53Speaker 01

Couple of things I hate about NATO. I hate when they have the, the metal rings.

• 12:57Matt Farah?

  Ugh.

• 12:58Speaker 01

  It scratches everything.

• 12:59Matt Farah?

Dude, I'm fucking, I'm fucking, I'm using. Like lock breakers to get them shits off.

• 13:04Speaker 01

Fuck yeah, out of here. So this has cloth.

• 13:07Matt Farah?

  Yeah, no, that's really.

• 13:08Speaker 01

And it's two piece. I don't like when the NATO's underneath. It makes the watch higher.

• 13:12Matt Farah?

Bulk, yes. Yeah, the two piece or what's up? I fuck with under the cuff NATO's. I really like this double thick joint though. That's an excellent. Are these just readily available? Or is this limited edition and it was gone?

• 13:24Speaker 01

They're super hard to get. So you get on the, they're about to drop them again. They drop them once a year. You go to Tornic Reville on Instagram, then you sign up and you give them like 250 for your, um, deposit. And then it comes in about six weeks.

• 13:41Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 13:41Speaker 01

And I'll tell you, this is the finest watch I've owned for no money. You're not getting followed home and robbed. And it's beautiful. And then I sent it to London and, um, the Alchemist did the patina.

• 13:54Matt Farah?

  It's the fake patina.

• 13:55Speaker 01

Yeah, but he did it by hand.

• 13:57Matt Farah?

Yeah, no, we have a guy, um, Zach and I have a, have a guy who started, his name is Rain and he started as one of the Seiko modders.

• 14:04Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah, yeah.

• 14:05Matt Farah?

And now he works for Notice, which is the company that I collaborated with to release the watch.

• 14:11Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 14:11Matt Farah?

And, uh, he works for them as well. And he's, he's done fake patina on some Sekos for me.

• 14:16Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 14:16Matt Farah?

And he, are you wearing your G-Shock? Yeah. And he painted Zach's, uh, Oh, right. G-Shock hands to be more legible.

• 14:24Speaker 01

What I like about this is it has the real water meter. So if the water gets in there, you know, it changes.

• 14:33Matt Farah?

  Like the Coors Mountains.

• 14:34Speaker 01

Yeah, like the Coors, uh, remember that?

• 14:36Matt Farah?

Or like, or like pretty litter.

• 14:38Speaker 01

I remember every comic had that joke of like, oh, I touched the can. I know it's fucking cold. You know? This is wild.

• 14:45Matt Farah?

  Isn't that a cool watch?

• 14:46Speaker 01

Yeah, reminds me of that Porsche lately that was painted like that.

• 14:50Matt Farah?

It's the same, yeah, same vibe. Yeah, but that's an excellent piece.

• 14:53Speaker 01

I went with the date. They got them with no date.

• 14:56Matt Farah?

They do? I wouldn't mind it with a no date.

• 14:58Speaker 01

  I gotta have date.

• 14:59Matt Farah?

  Is it?

• 15:00Speaker 01

  It's at the five.

• 15:01Matt Farah?

Is it a thinner case if you get it with no date or the same case?

• 15:04Speaker 01

  Seen it, but.

• 15:04Matt Farah?

It's probably the same case. For 900 bucks, it's probably the same case.

• 15:07Speaker 01

  They don't make two cases.

• 15:08Matt Farah?

If it, if it was, I would give up if it was, uh, I would give up date if it gave me a millimeter. Uh, my new, my new, uh, watch fetish is thinness, which is, uh, that's where you start spending a lot of money.

• 15:24Speaker 01

  15202, 5711.

• 15:27Matt Farah?

  Yeah, I know.

• 15:28Speaker 01

Those are the thin, thin watches and, and they're fantastic. Which by the way, tomorrow Rolex drops the new stuff.

• 15:35Matt Farah?

Did you see the Land Dweller?

• 15:36Speaker 01

  Yeah, so the Land Dweller.

• 15:37Matt Farah?

Guys, gotta take a quick break from the action because support for today's episode comes from Delete Me. They make it easy, quick, and safe to get your personal data off the internet at a time when surveillance and data breaches are common enough to make everyone vulnerable. Not to mention surveillance capitalism. Delete Me does all the hard work of wiping you and your family's personal information from data broker websites. They know your privacy is worth protecting, and so when you sign up and give Delete Me the information that you want deleted, their experts take it from there, not just once, but in an ongoing basis. They're not a one-time service. It was so easy. It took a few minutes, but I made an account with Delete Me and I followed their forms,

• 16:22Matt Farah?

which basically said, "Give us, you know, your previous addresses, your previous phone numbers, your immediate family, their basic information, and any other information about you that you wouldn't want people to have." And then, you know, there's quite a bit of that. So I, I put that in there and then hit submit, and then I don't hear from them for a little while, but then I get this big, long, thorough report of all of these data broker websites that have my data. Here's what they've deleted. Here's what they need further approval to delete. And then they, it keeps going, and every month I get a report with a lot of things that have been deleted and, and need to be deleted and, but it's, it is going.

• 17:34Matt Farah?

Tire code tire and now back to the show. Did you see the land dweller?

• 17:40Speaker 01

Yeah, so the land dweller is very thin.

• 17:42Matt Farah?

  It looks thin.

• 17:43Speaker 01

  Very thin.

• 17:44Matt Farah?

Yeah, it looks like a, it looks like it was inspired by the oyster quartz.

• 17:47Speaker 01

  That's exactly what it is.

• 17:49Matt Farah?

I don't think it will be quartz. In fact, I think, no, they showed the, they showed the display back. It has, it has an automatic movement.

• 17:54Speaker 01

The only thing I don't like about it.

• 17:56Matt Farah?

  Dial, man.

• 17:57Speaker 01

I was just gonna say, why do you have a nine and a six?

• 18:00Matt Farah?

  Dude.

• 18:00Speaker 01

  Just put the bars.

• 18:01Matt Farah?

Pull up a photo. Oh, that's, we'll talk about that in a minute.

• 18:04Speaker 01

Yeah, we're gonna talk about that.

• 18:04Matt Farah?

Pull up the new Rolex land, and also the name stinks. Land dweller?

• 18:10Speaker 01

  I think it's great because it's stupid.

• 18:11Matt Farah?

  It sounds like an insult.

• 18:12Speaker 01

I love how dumb it is.

• 18:14Matt Farah?

Sea dweller sounds like a compliment. Land dweller sounds like a fucking insult.

• 18:18Speaker 01

Look how beautiful this is though.

• 18:19Matt Farah?

So that's Federer wearing a prototype. He likes to sneak them in there.

• 18:23Speaker 01

And then they took it off right away.

• 18:24Matt Farah?

Uh, there's no, oh, there's, if, if you.

• 18:27Speaker 01

  The dial's honeycomb.

• 18:29Matt Farah?

  There's no official.

• 18:30Speaker 01

Yeah, if you go to, uh.

• 18:31Matt Farah?

  Why is that?

• 18:32Speaker 01

If you just Google land rover, uh, land, uh, land rover, land dweller, it'll come up right there. At the other end.

• 18:38Matt Farah?

  Yeah, that thing. Yeah.

• 18:40Speaker 01

So check out the dial. It's honeycomb. You know, the old.

• 18:43Matt Farah?

You know what it reminds me of is fucking, speaking of the Lamborghini Urus.

• 18:47Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 18:48Matt Farah?

You know Lamborghinis have hexagons all over them now?

• 18:50Speaker 01

  Yeah, that's right.

• 18:51Matt Farah?

This dial has Lamborghini hexagons all over it.

• 18:54Speaker 01

So go with the bars, not the, the, the, the six and the nine, because they don't have the twelve.

• 19:00Matt Farah?

It doesn't have a twelve or a three. Having a six and a nine is weird. Oh, yeah. And it has an attempt at a sporty dial, but then it has a fluted bezel.

• 19:08Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 19:09Matt Farah?

Like you can't tell if it wants to be formal or sporty.

• 19:12Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:12Matt Farah?

If you took the case and, and, and did a smooth bezel and a truly sporty dial in a, in a fucking splash color.

• 19:21Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 19:22Matt Farah?

It would be a smash hit.

• 19:23Speaker 01

Well, if they went the bars.

• 19:25Matt Farah?

  Yeah, just bars.

• 19:27Speaker 01

  Just the bars.

• 19:27Matt Farah?

  Just bars.

• 19:28Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 19:28Matt Farah?

  Like an oyster perpetual.

• 19:29Speaker 01

  And steel.

• 19:30Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 19:31Speaker 01

And black, black, uh, with the, with the honeycomb, like they're day, day.

• 19:36Matt Farah?

They like shadowed it? Yeah, if they shadowed it.

• 19:38Speaker 01

Because you can see it in there, right?

• 19:39Matt Farah?

I'd launch it with stone dials or something crazy too. I don't know. I, I like. Like everything about it, but the name and the dial. The bracelet looks fabulous.

• 19:48Speaker 01

  Look how thin it is.

• 19:49Matt Farah?

And it looks thin. That, that I really like. I love the back half of the bracelet too, where you don't see like an AP where you basically see nothing.

• 19:57Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 19:57Matt Farah?

I sold my Royal Oak a couple of years ago and I made a lot of money on it, but I miss it.

• 20:02Speaker 01

  Fifteen two oh two?

• 20:03Matt Farah?

  Uh, yeah.

• 20:04Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 20:04Matt Farah?

  Silver dial.

• 20:05Speaker 01

  Oh, silver dial.

• 20:06Matt Farah?

Silver dial. I liked it very much.

• 20:08Speaker 01

They got rid of the fifteen two oh two and now they're sixteen two oh two. It's the same thing.

• 20:12Matt Farah?

But it's like, oh, this one says Audemars Pique instead of AP and they moved it here to here.

• 20:18Speaker 02

This reminds me of hex clad pans.

• 20:21Speaker 02

Your eggs won't stick to the squash.

• 20:23Matt Farah?

And like what Lambo does all over their dashboards.

• 20:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 20:26Matt Farah?

Same thing. But I do love the shape of the case and the bracelet and the back of the bracelet.

• 20:31Speaker 01

  Total Gerald Genta.

• 20:33Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 20:33Speaker 01

You know it's gonna fit amazing because it, it slopes down.

• 20:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 20:37Speaker 01

  The band is killer.

• 20:38Matt Farah?

Rolex kills everyone on their bracelets.

• 20:42Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 20:42Matt Farah?

Rolex bracelets are just the most comfortable, best fitting bracelets, no matter what, which one you're doing. So. I think eventually there'll be a variant of that watch that's absolutely gorgeous, must have.

• 20:55Speaker 01

  Right.

• 20:56Matt Farah?

  But today's ain't it.

• 20:57Speaker 01

That's what I said. It's like, also, there's always that knee jerk thing when Rolex comes out. You go, oh, God, junk. And then two months later, you're wearing the Lefty GMT Sprite.

• 21:09Speaker 01

God, I gotta have that. Like.

• 21:11Matt Farah?

I've resisted. I have not purchased or, or desired a new Rolex in quite some time.

• 21:16Speaker 01

I'm off a Rolex in the last year.

• 21:18Matt Farah?

You're an Omega man more, aren't you?

• 21:20Speaker 01

Yeah, love the new three hundred, uh, you know, I like the Bond one.

• 21:25Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 21:25Speaker 01

The No Time To Die, but in the green and the brass now.

• 21:29Matt Farah?

The wavy bezel of the Seamaster.

• 21:32Speaker 01

  I like it.

• 21:33Matt Farah?

Something, something doesn't sit right, but the white dial speedy, I'm a hundred percent on board.

• 21:37Speaker 01

  Oh, I love it.

• 21:38Matt Farah?

  You see this one?

• 21:39Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 21:39Matt Farah?

  This is nineteen sixty-six.

• 21:41Speaker 01

Oh, that's the year I was born.

• 21:43Matt Farah?

  Really?

• 21:43Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 21:43Matt Farah?

You know, I made a good price for you, my friend. You must have both here?

• 21:49Speaker 01

  Love it. It's a 3-2-1 movement. Fantastic.

• 21:53Matt Farah?

It takes like a fucking Russian time bomb.

• 21:55Speaker 01

This is the, this is the best right here.

• 21:58Matt Farah?

It's, you know why it's the best? It's got service hands and it's got a service movement from 68.

• 22:04Speaker 01

  Whoa.

• 22:04Matt Farah?

  So, instead of being $50,000, it's $6,000.

• 22:09Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 22:09Matt Farah?

But it still looks like a, like a million bucks and, and I can actually wear it.

• 22:13Speaker 01

  Franken-space.

• 22:15Matt Farah?

You know who cares? Me and the guy I sell it to and nobody else.

• 22:18Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 22:18Matt Farah?

My buddy Kyle, shout out to Kyle Kennard of Motor One, formerly Road and Track.

• 22:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 22:24Matt Farah?

One of a very few number of people I will share a car with on a press launch. And I shared a car with him on, on this recent press launch. I was in Vegas last week as well. And Kyle has a, a late 70's Daytona, like a, like a, basically like a Paul Newman-style Daytona. Um, but it's a, it's a Franken-watch. It has a movement from, you know, the service movement and service hands and whatever. But, you know, to anybody just looking at it on his wrist, man, is that a million bucks.

• 22:54Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 22:55Matt Farah?

But he can actually wear it, cause I mean, it's still worth something, but it's, it's not historically precious, right?

• 23:01Speaker 01

I, uh, you know, to me, I'd rather have this tourniquet than that, you know, just because at least, you know.

• 23:08Matt Farah?

Yeah, I mean, you're trying to keep a low profile. I get it.

• 23:10Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 23:11Matt Farah?

There's, dude, there's so many cool affordable watches right now, like the micro-brand game is tight.

• 23:17Speaker 01

  Tudor's the best at affordable.

• 23:19Matt Farah?

Three or 4,000 bucks. I mean, I'm talking, I'm talking about like a sub 1,500.

• 23:23Speaker 01

  Of course.

• 23:23Matt Farah?

Sub 15, you can buy a bill, a million different cool watches.

• 23:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 23:27Matt Farah?

From under, and you can get custom watches and whatever. Oh, and speaking of things being expensive, I gotta take a, I gotta take a 60-second sidebar. Because last episode, we talked about, uh, shrinkflation.

• 23:39Matt Farah?

And I asked fans if anyone had any, uh, any verifiable shrinkflation stories from their own personal workplace and I would, I would use, not use their names or anything like that if anyone had any stories. Um, because like, yeah, inflation sucks, but a lot of companies really took advantage of that to just crank it up even more. So I have two good ones, uh, for today's show about shrinkflation. If, if we have, uh, uh, any more, please, uh, send them in. Uh, okay. This dude says, uh, a company called New Grind, which is now called Rhino Grind because they went bankrupt to ditch creditors. Oh, God. Anyway, they make, anyway, they make those big concrete grinding machines for polishing

• 24:23Matt Farah?

floors, just like you have at your house. Sidebar, that concrete convention is actually very fun. The tooling that goes on to these machines are all diamond tooling and they shrink-flated the tooling. Instead of being 18 millimeters thick, uh, the pad, it was 15 millimeters thick. Oh, boy. Not very noticeable without measuring, but honest, hardworking contractors are still buying this tooling for jobs, expecting to get the same amount of work done, but their pad was 16% smaller. So it's gonna wear out 16% quicker. So it wears out faster. Yeah. Of course. Yeah. This is, that's the same shit they used to, uh, polish my floors here and at the other shop.

• 25:05Speaker 01

  You got polished cement?

• 25:06Matt Farah?

We have polished and it was a bitch. God, did it take a long time. It took six weeks to do it here and it took, I think, eight weeks to do it at the other shop.

• 25:15Speaker 01

They put a coating on after?

• 25:16Matt Farah?

They didn't. No coating. Just shut, just raw.

• 25:19Speaker 01

So you gotta, you gotta redo it again and again?

• 25:21Matt Farah?

Never. Lifetime. We just gotta mop it every day.

• 25:24Speaker 01

  Oh, wow.

• 25:25Matt Farah?

Yeah. Uh, here's another good one. Guys, support for the Smoking Tire comes from the podcast Drive with Jim Farley. You know Jim Farley. He's the CEO of Ford. Not only that, this guy has a GT40 and a Cobra and all kinds of amazing vintage American metal that he races wheel to wheel at places like Goodwood. He's a boss and you gotta check out this show. It's where Jim talks to some of his favorite people about what they drive and what drives them to succeed. They just started season three with some sick new guests, including Vicky Butler Henderson, the British racing driver and fifth gear personality, Randy Nonnenberg from Bring a Trailer, and T-Pain, the musician turned drifter. Guy's got skills, actually.

• 26:09Matt Farah?

I listened, I listened to it the other day. It is great. Jim is a great interviewer. He's insightful. And it's interesting hearing these folks open up to him. I really am about it. I support Jim's venture here. To listen to Drive with Jim Farley, just search Drive with Jim Farley in any podcast app. That's Drive with Jim Farley. And thank you for supporting this episode. Former general manager for Whole Foods and Target.

• 26:35Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 26:37Matt Farah?

At Target, the diapers, the boxes stay the same price and the number of diapers were cut. We learned about it because the planograms no longer worked spacing wise on the shelves. A $30 box of 106 count Pampers became a $30 box of 94 count Pampers. And at Whole Foods, the 365 four cheese frozen pizza was $399 in 2021. It's now $599, but the internal cost that we bought them for was identical to the cost in 2023.

• 27:10Speaker 01

  Whole Foods is a devil.

• 27:13Speaker 02

It's inflation. We all have to do our part.

• 27:14Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 27:15Speaker 01

They're the double A for Whole Foods. Holy smokes.

• 27:18Matt Farah?

I just, I just need to put this out there.

• 27:20Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:21Matt Farah?

  The self-checkout at Whole Foods.

• 27:24Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:25Matt Farah?

Doesn't have a scale in it.

• 27:27Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:28Matt Farah?

Whatever you use with that information, the part of the self-checkout where your bag is and you go scan bag, scan bag, the part that has the bag doesn't have a scale.

• 27:40Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:41Matt Farah?

Make of that what you will. Just say it, you know?

• 27:44Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 27:45Matt Farah?

  They're stealing from you.

• 27:49Matt Farah?

What's happening here? Uh, so, anyway, you, you requested, we, we talk about a Carrera T that had been Safari Ed.

• 27:58Speaker 01

  I wanna go to, so-

• 28:00Matt Farah?

  Look at that fucking thing.

• 28:02Speaker 01

So, about, I dunno, four or five months ago, I went down the T rabbit hole and I saw you two driving the gar- I think it was Guards Red.

• 28:09Speaker 02

Uh- Uh, we drove an older one.

• 28:12Speaker 01

  Yeah, right.

• 28:13Speaker 02

I drove the, I drove the new one, it's white, okay.

• 28:15Matt Farah?

He's talking about a Dot Two.

• 28:15Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I, I only liked the Dot Two, it's the last of the narrowbody.

• 28:20Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 28:20Matt Farah?

Yeah, they're cool, they're great cars.

• 28:21Speaker 01

And they're raw and everything, so I'm watching that and then, and then, um, I go, oh, yeah, T's the way to go.

• 28:29Matt Farah?

They're sick, they're great little cars.

• 28:31Speaker 01

And then, right when that happens, this comes up for sale on Peacar.

• 28:35Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 28:35Speaker 01

And this guy is in Florida that does these kits on this guy.

• 28:41Matt Farah?

What, do you know the name of the co- is it?

• 28:43Speaker 01

I don't, but I think it's in the feed here.

• 28:45Matt Farah?

Let's see what it's got, maybe we know this person.

• 28:48Speaker 01

So, the incredible thing what he does-

• 28:51Matt Farah?

It's a great looking car, wow.

• 28:53Speaker 01

He logos it up too, Off-Road T, all the logos are new, and then the interior is camo.

• 29:03Matt Farah?

Well, that's fun, wait, alright, hang on, okay, off-road features, uh, Baja Designs light roof, where's the suspension?

• 29:09Speaker 01

  So, look at the interior.

• 29:10Matt Farah?

Alright, the Winter Camo Centers, that's fun, yeah, okay.

• 29:14Speaker 02

Helps you blend in in the snow in Florida.

• 29:16Matt Farah?

  Yeah, in Florida, that's-

• 29:17Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 29:18Speaker 02

I mean, it matches the white exterior of the car.

• 29:20Matt Farah?

  Oh, the, the bad-

• 29:21Speaker 01

  See that?

• 29:22Matt Farah?

  I mean-

• 29:22Speaker 01

  I like it.

• 29:24Speaker 02

  I think it's cleanly done.

• 29:24Matt Farah?

  I will say, it's, I'll, I'll, I'll say it's cleanly done, that's what I'll do.

• 29:29Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, right, right.

• 29:30Matt Farah?

Not what I would do, it doesn't say what the company is that's doing the-

• 29:32Speaker 01

I got it on my Instagram, um-

• 29:35Matt Farah?

I mean, it looks lovely and it's probably a real good time, I mean-

• 29:39Speaker 01

Well, there's a guy on YouTube that sold it and he's driving it off-road in Portland, Oregon. And he is fucking going mad in the dirt.

• 29:48Matt Farah?

  What'd it go for?

• 29:49Speaker 01

One thirty, which is a good price.

• 29:51Matt Farah?

  It's actually pretty good.

• 29:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 29:52Matt Farah?

To have that, to have that ready to go, I mean, assuming you like how that one looks, I think it would cost you more to- Replicated.

• 29:58Speaker 01

  Of course.

• 29:59Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 29:59Speaker 01

  And I was like.

• 30:00Matt Farah?

  Those are rotiforms?

• 30:02Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 30:02Matt Farah?

That's a rotiform wheel. I like that sort of, that bu- that little bash bar thing in the front is pretty cool.

• 30:08Speaker 01

Yep. I love that. The only thing was a little leery was they drilled holes in the roof to put that.

• 30:15Matt Farah?

  For the rack?

• 30:15Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 30:16Matt Farah?

  Well, yeah.

• 30:17Speaker 01

I'm al- I'm always like, ah.

• 30:19Matt Farah?

So, the thing about racks on a car like this.

• 30:22Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 30:23Matt Farah?

  Great if you need it.

• 30:24Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 30:24Matt Farah?

But a real bitch when you don't. I bet that whistles like a motherfucker.

• 30:29Speaker 01

Just gonna say, man, just. So I go the Dakar rack, that low profile one with the lights.

• 30:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 30:36Speaker 01

  I love that.

• 30:38Matt Farah?

You know what they charge for that?

• 30:39Speaker 01

  Oh, well, what is it?

• 30:40Matt Farah?

  They charge a fucking fortune.

• 30:41Speaker 01

  What is it?

• 30:42Matt Farah?

And also, I don't know, but it's a fortune and there, and there, it's, the wiring for it goes into the.

• 30:48Speaker 02

  Grand Prix Motors?

• 30:49Speaker 01

That's the guy that sold it, um, the, the dealer up in Seattle. He always has great shit.

• 30:55Matt Farah?

Okay, wait, scroll down. This is the guy, all right, selling it. I want to see what it's got in it. Keep going, keep going. This is all, this is the shit, the regular, uh, high-end off-road modifications.

• 31:04Speaker 01

  Right.

• 31:04Matt Farah?

Uh, oh, DSC Sport. Wow, a DSC Sport controller with an off-road application could be very interesting. GT3 Control, Elephant Racing, yeah, okay, so Elephant Racing makes the, uh, the.

• 31:17Speaker 02

This is what they do. They, they're like the name in Porsche Rally Suspension.

• 31:21Matt Farah?

  Elephant.

• 31:22Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 31:22Matt Farah?

Elephant made this, made the first version of the suspension for my air-cooled car.

• 31:26Speaker 01

  Oh, wow.

• 31:27Matt Farah?

Lee Keane now uses a different company. Um, okay, so it's basically Elephant shit. Yeah, okay.

• 31:33Speaker 01

I mean, it was so fucking fast.

• 31:35Matt Farah?

That's a, I bet that's a, I bet a hundred and thirty grand, you couldn't build the, the same car for anywhere near that.

• 31:42Speaker 01

Cause you gotta buy the car first, which is like, you know.

• 31:44Matt Farah?

So what are, what's, what is the market right now for these T's?

• 31:49Speaker 01

Ninety-five in the no seats and the stripper type, you know, and then some that are kind of loaded. I just found one totally loaded rear ri- uh, steering.

• 32:00Speaker 01

Uh, it's on um, a website out there.

• 32:02Matt Farah?

So, I would wreck. I would, if you actually want to do this.

• 32:07Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 32:07Matt Farah?

  A safari.

• 32:08Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 32:08Matt Farah?

I would not do rear steer.

• 32:11Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah, gotcha.

• 32:12Matt Farah?

  I don't think, I don't think rear steer with a mechanical LSD.

• 32:15Speaker 01

  Right.

• 32:15Matt Farah?

Will be, will be what, right? Am I, am I wrong? It's just, that's just a vibe. Maybe we should ask an expert. If you want rear steer or not for a safari build application. I mean, the Dakar has it, but that's a complete package, all wheel drive system. That's a whole other thing.

• 32:31Speaker 02

I would just, if I had the choice and the dream, I would go without it because it's a more complicated system. And I'd rather have less complications in something that's going to handle that much abuse, hidden bumps, stuff like that. I would just want to remove that variable.

• 32:42Speaker 01

What I'm finding the problem with the T was, everybody tried to go poor man's GT3.

• 32:48Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 32:48Speaker 01

So, they, they specced them out so fierce, all the way up to even sunroofs. I don't want a sunroof. I don't want backseats. I do want the AC and ra- I know you're like, what? You know, carbon buckets.

• 33:00Matt Farah?

You buy the stripper one and then make it insanely expensive anyway.

• 33:04Speaker 02

Or make it heavier by getting heavy options like sunroof.

• 33:06Speaker 01

  Right, right, right.

• 33:08Matt Farah?

Yeah, these, I mean, that's funny. And then the, these Ts didn't actually sell that well.

• 33:13Speaker 01

  They didn't sell at all.

• 33:13Matt Farah?

And but, but now, so many people like yourself are looking for like a great value in, in this market.

• 33:21Speaker 01

Right. Well, you can still get a Carrera S.

• 33:23Matt Farah?

You could still get an S.

• 33:24Speaker 01

That's faster and has, you know, I just wanted a T because I thought, oh, this is kind of cool. I'll get some road noise. You guys are like, oh, there's road noise.

• 33:32Matt Farah?

Do you have to spend more for a T than an S? No.

• 33:34Speaker 01

  No.

• 33:35Matt Farah?

  Not right now.

• 33:36Speaker 01

  Not right now.

• 33:36Matt Farah?

  Alright, cool.

• 33:37Speaker 01

But they only made a thousand Ts in 1819.

• 33:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah, that's so.

• 33:41Speaker 01

  There's your problem.

• 33:42Matt Farah?

  That's your problem.

• 33:42Speaker 01

  That's your problem. There's a shitload of Carrera S.

• 33:45Matt Farah?

  Right, yeah.

• 33:46Speaker 01

  You know?

• 33:46Matt Farah?

So, maybe eventually it'll go the other way.

• 33:48Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 33:49Matt Farah?

  I mean, I, dude, I'm, I'm very supportive of a, of a safari build.

• 33:53Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 33:54Speaker 02

  Yeah, that'd be fun.

• 33:55Matt Farah?

That one, if you liked how that one looked, that probably would have been a good one to buy.

• 33:58Speaker 01

I absolutely love that car, man.

• 33:59Matt Farah?

I might not do winter ammo. Yeah, no, that's expensive car, man.

• 34:03Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, you know, oh, oh, I'm watching it on.

• 34:05Matt Farah?

Well, look, dude, there's, there's like relatively more budget.

• 34:10Matt Farah?

  Ways to replicate.

• 34:11Speaker 01

  Of course.

• 34:11Matt Farah?

You could do this with like a nine nine seven for fucking sixty five grand. If that's what you really wanted, it'd be a good time.

• 34:18Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 34:19Matt Farah?

A nine nine seven S with basically everything this has, less the roof rack, would be kick ass.

• 34:25Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 34:26Matt Farah?

  And it would work.

• 34:26Speaker 01

It's just great to like, I go out to Joshua Tree a lot and I, and I don't mind driving and you know, you get out into this. There's an area out there called Gamma Gulch.

• 34:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 34:36Speaker 01

  It is unreal.

• 34:38Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 34:38Speaker 01

These Airbnbs out there, you are on Mars.

• 34:41Matt Farah?

Yeah, the desert, dude, the desert is.

• 34:44Speaker 01

  It's the best.

• 34:44Matt Farah?

Oh, look, here's an, here you go.

• 34:45Speaker 01

  That's beautiful.

• 34:47Matt Farah?

I don't love the wheel choice, but everything else about it, I'm kind of into.

• 34:50Speaker 01

  Oh, my god.

• 34:52Matt Farah?

So you can, we'll send you this link later.

• 34:54Speaker 01

Hold on, you gotta see this, see this one.

• 34:57Matt Farah?

The desert, I mean, you know, if you want, if you wanna really push a car.

• 35:01Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 35:01Matt Farah?

The desert is the best, it's better than a racetrack, it's better than a lot of places.

• 35:05Speaker 02

Cause you can also push it at twenty four miles per hour, like you can slide, you can hit jumps, you can play more with the car. It's the, it's the best thing to do.

• 35:12Matt Farah?

  Our friend, uh.

• 35:14Speaker 01

  I like this one.

• 35:14Matt Farah?

Friend of the podcast, oh, that's, uh, that, that is nice, that's.

• 35:19Speaker 01

Look at that, look at that.

• 35:20Matt Farah?

Hang on a minute, it's got, okay, it's got these sort of, hang on, Zach, can I, can you go to this camera?

• 35:25Speaker 01

  Can you see that?

• 35:25Speaker 02

  Yeah, I'm on it.

• 35:27Matt Farah?

Just to have it, is that, so these are sort of a Fuke style, uh, wheel.

• 35:32Speaker 01

  Yes, I love it.

• 35:33Matt Farah?

  Yeah, I mean, it's, that's nice, that's a, that's a, a, a nine nine seven.

• 35:37Speaker 01

  Is it nine nine seven?

• 35:39Matt Farah?

I think with a front end, yeah, with like, uh, with some kind of front end bumper mod, that's pretty cool, I'm into that, yeah.

• 35:46Speaker 01

  Yeah, I love it.

• 35:48Matt Farah?

Yeah, so you clearly need a Safari nine eleven and there's, there, there's a lot of different entry points to that at different price points.

• 35:56Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 35:57Matt Farah?

  A T, hmm.

• 35:59Speaker 01

I'd just like to start with a T because it's just so like, oh shit, a T.

• 36:04Matt Farah?

Makes good sense, I'm into it.

• 36:06Speaker 01

You guys got me into it.

• 36:07Matt Farah?

Can we, oh, sorry, we're expensive friends to have, sorry.

• 36:09Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, dude, I got, I got, I got crazy taste, dude.

• 36:13Matt Farah?

I know, you do, you do have taste. We have the similar taste in cars, watches, guitars. Cars.

• 36:20Speaker 01

  With you.

• 36:21Matt Farah?

  Uh, like boots.

• 36:23Speaker 01

  Dude.

• 36:23Matt Farah?

All, all the same expensive ass shit.

• 36:26Speaker 01

We met and we immediately hit it off on everything. And it's just, uh, this.

• 36:33Matt Farah?

  Can I?

• 36:33Speaker 01

This is my dream T and, uh, no money. I just don't have a hundred and thirty-four. But right here, there it is.

• 36:42Matt Farah?

Oh, my God. This is like ultraviolet.

• 36:44Speaker 01

  That is.

• 36:44Matt Farah?

Is that, is it Ruby Star? It's Ruby Star with like.

• 36:48Speaker 01

  That's the best.

• 36:48Matt Farah?

Gold wheels and an aero kit.

• 36:50Speaker 01

Yeah, and numbers on the interiors insane.

• 36:53Matt Farah?

  You know what?

• 36:54Speaker 01

  I love it.

• 36:55Matt Farah?

  That's a lot.

• 36:56Speaker 01

  You know what?

• 36:57Matt Farah?

But I like a lot. I am, what's the interior? Just black? Okay. Oh.

• 37:01Speaker 01

  No, it's crazy.

• 37:03Matt Farah?

  The interior's also nuts.

• 37:04Speaker 01

You know what that car is mad?

• 37:05Matt Farah?

Is that purple? Is the interior purple?

• 37:07Speaker 01

It's the color of the car.

• 37:08Matt Farah?

Yeah, it's like, it's okay, all right.

• 37:11Speaker 01

That is a fuck that guy car.

• 37:12Matt Farah?

Fucking crazy ass car. And actually, for the money.

• 37:16Speaker 01

  No money.

• 37:16Matt Farah?

  It's actually not bad.

• 37:18Speaker 01

  No fucking money, dude.

• 37:19Matt Farah?

  I mean, it's.

• 37:20Speaker 01

  It's nice.

• 37:20Matt Farah?

It's, you're talking about a hundred and thirty-five thousand dollars.

• 37:22Speaker 01

  Not what I'm saying.

• 37:23Matt Farah?

No, we're hypothesizing, but like relative to the market, that ain't bad.

• 37:28Speaker 01

  Right, right, right.

• 37:29Matt Farah?

That's pretty crazy. You could, you would get a spot at Air Water in a featured section in that car.

• 37:36Speaker 01

You know, I like to show that.

• 37:38Matt Farah?

  You go to Air Water?

• 37:38Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah, of course.

• 37:39Matt Farah?

  In twenty-six?

• 37:39Speaker 01

Yeah, I don't miss that shit, man.

• 37:41Matt Farah?

Yeah, my car's gonna be on a stand.

• 37:42Speaker 01

  Which one?

• 37:43Matt Farah?

  The pink car.

• 37:43Speaker 01

  Oh, right.

• 37:44Matt Farah?

Yeah, it'll be on a stand. Yeah, which is fun. Oh, that nine-nine-seven looks great, too.

• 37:47Speaker 02

This is a few years ago.

• 37:48Speaker 01

See, that company's rims are fantastic.

• 37:51Matt Farah?

Who, uh, those braids, they look like braid.

• 37:53Speaker 02

  They look like braids.

• 37:54Matt Farah?

They look like, Braid makes rally wheels.

• 37:55Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah.

• 37:56Matt Farah?

Like, that's what I had braids on my, Braid made a Fuchs style wheel.

• 38:00Speaker 01

  Oh, wow.

• 38:00Matt Farah?

  For Safari nine-eleven.

• 38:02Speaker 01

  What's that look like?

• 38:04Matt Farah?

  It looks like a Fuchs.

• 38:05Speaker 01

  Oh, wow.

• 38:05Matt Farah?

But it fucking, it was, it was great. They made it. I shout out to Braid. They make awesome motor.

• 38:10Speaker 02

So this was posted in twenty-twenty-one. At the time of posting on Road and Track, the, the bidding was up to fifty grand. What do you guys think this car sold for?

• 38:17Speaker 01

  Eighty?

• 38:19Speaker 02

  Matt?

• 38:19Matt Farah?

  Seventy-six.

• 38:21Speaker 02

  Uh, he wins eighty-four, nine.

• 38:24Speaker 01

  Wow, yeah.

• 38:24Matt Farah?

  Wow.

• 38:25Speaker 02

  Dean wins eighty-four, nine.

• 38:26Speaker 01

I don't like the lights on the hood.

• 38:28Matt Farah?

  It's a lot.

• 38:28Speaker 02

There are a lot of lights.

• 38:29Speaker 01

I don't need that shit. I like it on the rack. Yeah, the other one?

• 38:32Matt Farah?

Yeah, this one has a pop-out light pod that does not match the lines of the regular car.

• 38:38Speaker 01

  No.

• 38:38Matt Farah?

Um, but other than that, I think good decisions made on this build.

• 38:42Speaker 01

Yeah, I like that other one you showed.

• 38:44Matt Farah?

Can we see an interior photo? Is there anything done on the interior?

• 38:47Speaker 01

  Great car.

• 38:48Matt Farah?

  Oh, it's got buckets.

• 38:49Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 38:49Matt Farah?

  And a cage.

• 38:50Speaker 01

  Yeah, it's got a cage.

• 38:53Speaker 02

  That's, this is legit.

• 38:54Matt Farah?

Oh, this white steering wheel. Okay, that's a bad choice. The white steering wheel is not.

• 38:59Speaker 02

  You can fix that.

• 39:00Matt Farah?

You cannot eat chicken wings and then go drive that shit.

• 39:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 39:04Matt Farah?

A lot of good decisions made there, though, other than the white steering wheel.

• 39:08Speaker 01

So that's, that's what I want to get into.

• 39:10Matt Farah?

That, that car would be a good fucking time.

• 39:12Speaker 01

I want to get into one of those, you know?

• 39:15Speaker 02

Have you done a rally school before?

• 39:17Speaker 01

  Where?

• 39:17Speaker 02

You should do a rally school if you haven't.

• 39:18Speaker 01

  Oh, no, where at?

• 39:20Speaker 02

There's so many good ones to choose from.

• 39:21Matt Farah?

Like, three great ones. Rally Ready outside of Austin, Texas.

• 39:25Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 39:25Matt Farah?

Um, Dirt Fish outside of Seattle.

• 39:27Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 39:28Matt Farah?

And Team O'Neil, which is up in Vermont or New Hampshire.

• 39:31Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 39:31Matt Farah?

  Vermont or New Hampshire.

• 39:32Speaker 01

  And do they have cars?

• 39:34Speaker 02

They do, yeah. And they're, I mean, it's, the lessons you'll learn there can apply to driving anywhere, like, street, track, or dirt. But if you're gonna get one of these and go romp around Joshua Tree, which I highly recommend, I'm so on board for you, you should just do like a two-day rally school.

• 39:49Matt Farah?

  You'll learn so much.

• 39:50Speaker 02

It's the funnest driving ever. It really is.

• 39:52Speaker 01

  How much?

• 39:53Speaker 02

And then you can go out there.

• 39:53Matt Farah?

  Couple grand.

• 39:54Speaker 02

It's usually like a couple grand.

• 39:54Matt Farah?

Couple grand. It's not insanely expensive.

• 39:56Speaker 01

I'll go to the Seattle one, Dirt Fish.

• 39:58Matt Farah?

So Dirt Fish is great because they have, uh, all-wheel-drive Subarus and rear-wheel-drive Subaru BRZs.

• 40:05Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 40:06Matt Farah?

So you could learn rear-wheel-drive rally, which may apply better to something like this than all-wheel-drive rally, which is a slightly different technique.

• 40:14Speaker 01

  Right.

• 40:14Matt Farah?

Both are useful, but like, you know, you could do either or both.

• 40:18Speaker 01

I had the WRX, uh, what was it, the 18, the Smurf blue?

• 40:22Matt Farah?

  Oh, yeah.

• 40:22Speaker 01

That fucking car. Uh, I just wish I could have had the fin off it, because it's a little Fast and Furious.

• 40:28Matt Farah?

It had a wing on it?

• 40:29Speaker 01

It's got the WRX STI wing. You can't get the Smurf without that. But wow, is that fucking car great.

• 40:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 40:37Speaker 01

  You know?

• 40:37Matt Farah?

We were just, we just did a show with Jerry Seinfeld, who, that's what he's been driving in around LA, a Subaru STI.

• 40:44Speaker 01

  Really?

• 40:44Matt Farah?

  An S209, yeah.

• 40:45Speaker 01

A WRX with the, with the wing?

• 40:47Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 40:48Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 40:48Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 40:49Speaker 01

  Seinfeld with a wing.

• 40:50Matt Farah?

If you saw, if you saw that car driving up Ocean Park and you saw Jerry Seinfeld driving it, you'd be like, oh, a Seinfeld impersonator is on.

• 40:57Speaker 02

Or he's showing his kid how to drive.

• 41:00Matt Farah?

I wouldn't believe that that was him in that car.

• 41:02Speaker 01

  Wow, that's pretty cool.

• 41:03Matt Farah?

Um, we have some, do some Patreons to get to. We got a few of them, but before, we gotta talk about the special.

• 41:09Speaker 01

  Please, please.

• 41:10Matt Farah?

  It's the thirty-three, what's the number, five?

• 41:13Speaker 01

Fifty-eight, thirty-six. And what that is, you know, most people's specials are like, you know, dirtbag or road rash.

• 41:21Matt Farah?

  Cancelled.

• 41:22Speaker 01

Yeah, whatever, you know, so I thought, you know, I gotta get a title that I thought would be cool. And I've counted my sets since I've started. And at that particular night, it was set five thousand eight hundred and thirty-six.

• 41:37Matt Farah?

I love it. And I think it's, it's so appropriate. You're, you know, you're our show number one thousand and one. So we just, we just, you know, we've just had a milestone and I, you know, it sort of, it made us think, doing anything.

• 41:50Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 41:51Matt Farah?

That, you know, doing anything a thousand times, doing anything five thousand eight hundred and thirty-six times. It's a lot of fucking times.

• 41:59Speaker 01

The reason I wanted to do that is so you can see the grind.

• 42:06Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 42:07Speaker 01

And the number. It's not just like, oh yeah, I just did a couple of years and now I'm shooting a special.

• 42:13Matt Farah?

  No.

• 42:13Speaker 01

This is what it is. And I, you know, I busted my ass. This is self-financed. Uh, Bill Burr and I made it.

• 42:21Matt Farah?

You could have had a Carrera Tate instead of this special.

• 42:24Speaker 01

Right. A couple. And then, um, you know, Marcus Price, uh, who's also a car freak and one of my best friends, directed it. And we went out to Pelham, Tennessee, which is an hour and a half outside of Nashville or an hour and a half outside of Chattanooga. And it's in this cave. It's the first special ever done in a cave.

• 42:48Matt Farah?

It's awesome looking. It's so fucking cool.

• 42:51Speaker 01

I, I was gonna shoot a special and, you know, nobody gave me a special. No one was gonna give me a special. You know, I'm fifty-nine. It's like, I'm not on the, you know, hey, there's something we're looking for. So, uh... You know, I was gonna do it in a club and then I was thinking and I talked to a couple comedians. I'm like, yeah, no one cares what you fucking do. Just, just make it funny. And then I thought, that's the wrong idea. I think that if you're gonna make something, make something that people are gonna talk about like, you see this fucking thing? It's in a cave?

• 43:24Matt Farah?

  That's cool.

• 43:25Speaker 01

And that's gonna get people at least to look at it, cuz in this world of a million specials, why do you wanna click on this and look at it?

• 43:33Matt Farah?

It's also a beautiful set that you don't have to build.

• 43:37Speaker 01

  Oh my god.

• 43:38Matt Farah?

You know, like, you don't have to be like, alright, well, what's my vibe? Like, what are, what are the curtains or what are the this and what are the this? It's like, the vibe is cave. We're in a cave. There'll be enough lights to show that we're in a cave. That's the vibe.

• 43:51Speaker 01

  And the thing is...

• 43:53Matt Farah?

It's so cool, but it like solves a bunch of problems at once.

• 43:57Speaker 01

Here's a place. So they've got camping. We had people out there in Yerkes. This is where you walk in, right here.

• 44:03Matt Farah?

  This is fucking sick.

• 44:05Speaker 02

This is the coolest venue. I mean, it's so original.

• 44:06Speaker 01

You walk in here and there it is, right?

• 44:09Matt Farah?

It's like Red Rocks, except fucking no sky. You're underground. You're in a cave. It's so awesome.

• 44:16Speaker 01

And the guy that owns it, Todd Mayo, is fucking unreal. So I had him on the podcast. I have a podcast if you guys wanna hear it. Matt's been on it.

• 44:23Matt Farah?

Let there be talk. Let there be. Also, at a very like high 700s episodes, it's also a high volume number.

• 44:30Speaker 01

  Almost 800 now.

• 44:31Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're fucking doing it. Dean knows how to fucking grind, man.

• 44:35Speaker 01

  12 years I've been podcasting.

• 44:37Matt Farah?

  Guy does not fuck around.

• 44:38Speaker 01

Yeah. So the thing was, um, we went in there. I'd never done comedy in there. No one's done comedy in there.

• 44:46Matt Farah?

That's so hard to believe. It's like they've been there.

• 44:49Speaker 01

Cuz what if you go in and it sounds like shit?

• 44:52Speaker 02

  Ooh, true, yeah.

• 44:53Speaker 01

And you're going, oh, we spent all this money and, you know, and it's self-financed, you know? So the really wild thing is, we shoot this million dollar looking special. It's fucking great looking and we go to the streamers and they're not even getting back to us. We're like, hey, check this out. We know they're not gonna watch the whole fucking thing cuz that's how people are.

• 45:19Matt Farah?

But you think they'll give you a 60 seconds or something.

• 45:21Speaker 01

We gave them five one-minute clips. Just check this out. You think that if you're in the business of specials, that you would see this for one minute and go, fuck it, let's put this out. It's crazy looking and people will have the billboards with the cave. And people will click on it right away. No one gets back to us. So you can see it this, uh, the fifth or the sixth on my Patreon. Dean Del Rey is my Patreon.

• 45:46Matt Farah?

  We are huge Patreon fans.

• 45:48Speaker 01

Oh, I love it. And then YouTube. Now, here's another thing I wanna hit people to. You, you put it on YouTube and some of my great friends, uh, Joe List, Sam Morrell, uh, Fahim Ammar, they've all put specials on there and they've gotten millions of views and people are like, yeah, man, just the gatekeepers are gone and you just put it on YouTube and you get a million hits. It's like, that's not how it works. You need to share the shit out of this thing.

• 46:14Matt Farah?

Yeah, you have to promote it, share it, all that stuff. And then hopefully you get $2,000 from your YouTube.

• 46:19Speaker 01

Right, yeah, yeah, yeah. But I'll chop it up into clips, but I really didn't wanna chop it up. I wanted people to see it on a screen because it's pretty cinematic looking.

• 46:29Matt Farah?

Yeah, how, how, um, I mean, I, I haven't seen it. I've only seen your trailer, uh, which is on your Instagram page, Dean Del Rey, uh, all one word.

• 46:38Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 46:38Matt Farah?

Um, and it does look beautiful. How did the sound work out in your favor?

• 46:42Speaker 01

Oh, my God. So I walk on, I do the first joke, right?

• 46:46Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 46:46Speaker 01

  And the laughs are thunderous.

• 46:48Matt Farah?

And I guess it's not the same. You can't just sound check it empty, right? It changes when it's full of people.

• 46:53Speaker 01

Cause when we were in there, it was kinda echoey and I was like, oh, no.

• 46:57Matt Farah?

And then, but then it fills with people and the people knock it down.

• 46:59Speaker 01

And it's kinda dirt and everything and it's just this warm sound and the first joke dropped and the last hit. And if you watch the trailer, I go, I waited 15 years to do a special. My voice cracks cuz I almost cried.

• 47:15Matt Farah?

  Okay, cool.

• 47:15Speaker 01

I'm so overjoyed about, oh, my God, this is gonna work.

• 47:20Matt Farah?

  Oh, that's great.

• 47:20Speaker 01

My dream's coming true. I'm shooting a special in a fucking cave.

• 47:25Matt Farah?

It does look so sick, dude.

• 47:28Speaker 01

God, I love it. I love it.

• 47:29Matt Farah?

Did you ever see, what, it said bands play in there, so I guess the sound has gotta be kinda decent, right?

• 47:34Speaker 01

Well, it was made for bluegrass. Uh, this guy Todd Mayo built it. He's got a book out called Caveman Chronicles, and it talks about how he built this fucking thing. He went in there 12 years ago and he's like, "I wonder what it'd be like to have a band in here." He gets Chris Stapleton in there. And that's the first gig, and that's 12 years ago. Now he's got an Emmy award winning show on PBS called, uh, The Cavern Sessions, and he was fucking so great to us. He goes, "Let's do this."

• 48:02Matt Farah?

We got a, we have a road track event that's coming this fall that's gonna be in this area. Maybe there's a reason to go there.

• 48:08Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, yeah. We're thinking about doing my Bon Scott tribute there for my 60th birthday in February, yeah.

• 48:14Matt Farah?

  Oh, shit.

• 48:15Speaker 01

Yeah. Everybody camping in New Yorks in tents.

• 48:17Matt Farah?

Wait, by, when you say my, do you play in a Bon Scott tribute band? Oh, I didn't know that.

• 48:21Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, I do. Oh, once a year I do a tribute to Bon, and it's like Bill Burr on drums, like Nicky Six bass, Scotty Ann from Anthrax on guitar, and Lur from Primus, and, uh, Mike Inez from Alice in Chains, Dave Lombardo. It's a super-

• 48:38Matt Farah?

That seems like a good fucking time.

• 48:39Speaker 01

Oh, you can look at it, YouTube, Dean Del Rey Bon Scott, real quick, look at it.

• 48:44Matt Farah?

Is that a thing you like sell tickets to? It's a good show? Oh, okay. Oh, alright, cool.

• 48:46Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, the Avalon. We do it every year, it's huge.

• 48:49Matt Farah?

  Oh, awesome.

• 48:49Speaker 01

But we're thinking about, there's one right there, flashback, right there. Uh, no, to the right, go to that one on the right there. Watch this guy head banging my crazy. This is the kinda guy from like, look at this guy, he's amazing at the show. He's just going, at one point Bill Burr stopped and he goes, "I wanna give a shout out to that guy." He's fucking doing it.

• 49:11Speaker 02

Dude, he's got an F1 driver's neck from Harry.

• 49:13Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 49:14Matt Farah?

His neck is like thicker than his head.

• 49:16Speaker 01

If you YouTube Dean Del Rey Bon Scott, you'll see the fucking, uh, the event, it's massive. I do the whole place out and, oh, there's one right there, right there, that's good. I do a whole place in Bon Scott photos, you know? They got the best digital screens in this place, the Avalon, and it is, it is unreal. That's, uh, Steve Gorman from The Black Crows on drums. We rotate drummers every couple songs, like we had, uh, Josh Freese from Foo Fighters this year, yeah, we had, we had them all.

• 49:50Matt Farah?

Oh, alright, me and Christian gotta come see that.

• 49:52Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah, yeah, it's great.

• 49:55Matt Farah?

Sick. Do we have, uh, can we go to the Patreon, Mr. Klapman? Of course, just like you, we love, we love the Patreon.

• 50:03Speaker 01

  How many guys you got?

• 50:05Matt Farah?

  Like fifteen hundred and change.

• 50:06Speaker 01

Yeah, I got four hundred and they, I, I, I call them the real, you know, the New York Times once said, if you have one thousand true fans, you can do art your whole life.

• 50:17Matt Farah?

  Oh, really?

• 50:17Speaker 01

And the way they broke it down was really interesting. If each fan kinda donated around a hundred bucks, you know, over the year, you'd be able to do art for a year, every, every year.

• 50:29Matt Farah?

  If we, if we had

• 50:33Matt Farah?

probably twice as many Patreon people as we have now, which is possible.

• 50:38Speaker 01

  Right.

• 50:39Matt Farah?

  We could eliminate all advertising.

• 50:42Speaker 01

  Right.

• 50:42Matt Farah?

Like, we just wouldn't have to take ads.

• 50:44Speaker 01

I wouldn't have ads either, man. And, and also they saved me during, uh, COVID, man. I was a comic with nothing. And all of a sudden it stopped. And I was like, oh my God, what am I gonna do?

• 50:55Matt Farah?

Yeah. It's, uh, fortunately, we figured out live streaming. That, that helped a lot.

• 51:01Speaker 01

  On YouTube?

• 51:03Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 51:03Speaker 01

And how's that, where they tip as you're going?

• 51:05Matt Farah?

Well, it's through Patreon and, and whatever, and mainly just like we figured out how to do, uh, I don't, live stream is, was, I meant, what I meant to say was, we figured out how to do like remote podcasts during COVID and that.

• 51:17Speaker 01

  Right, right.

• 51:18Matt Farah?

And then as soon as we didn't have to do that anymore, we stopped.

• 51:22Matt Farah?

Shaggin' Party Wagon says, uh, what was it like on tour with Marcus King?

• 51:27Speaker 01

Oh, the question's for me. This is great.

• 51:29Matt Farah?

Most of them will be directly for you.

• 51:31Speaker 01

  Oh, that's fucking cool.

• 51:32Matt Farah?

We'll have some other car ones at the end. But, uh, Marcus King, so sick.

• 51:37Speaker 01

I'll tell you this right now. So I met him, um, I think around ten years ago. He was like twenty or something. Uh, somebody sent me his record. Hey, they know I love like soul rock. Like, I, you know, I'm not, not blues. I'm talking about like Black Crowes, kind of soul rock. And so they sent it to me. I go, what is this?

• 52:00Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 52:00Speaker 01

So I reach out to the kid and I have him on the podcast. He is straight up, uh, like shy, introvert. Yes, yeah, yeah. Over the years, we've become great friends. He becomes this incredible star. Right before COVID, we said, let's do a comedy rock tour. He and I, he loves comedy. I love him. Uh, COVID hits, Live Nation pushes it aside. Uh, right after COVID, a year later, I get a call, "Hey, tour's on." I'm like, "Oh, I thought that was gone." Now he's bigger, I'm a little bigger. Now we're doing double nights at theaters.

• 52:34Matt Farah?

  Cool.

• 52:34Speaker 01

Like Beacons, Ryman's, um, all that. And so we went on a 32-day tour across America, one day off. And we did comedy and rock all over America.

• 52:47Matt Farah?

  Bus?

• 52:48Speaker 01

  Bus.

• 52:48Matt Farah?

  Wow.

• 52:49Speaker 01

And it was fucking great. Some of the nights were awful for me. You know, if there was no seats, it was horrible. People were walking around like, "Why is that roadie talking about his dick?" You know what I mean? They're just like drinking beers, like looking at me. I'm like, "Hey, hey, hey."

• 53:04Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 53:05Speaker 01

Like, "Start saying chick," you know?

• 53:07Matt Farah?

Yeah, if they're not like ready, you know, ready for that, yeah.

• 53:10Speaker 01

And I was, uh, it was a grueller, but now it's been a couple of years and I look back and I go, "One of the best times of my life."

• 53:18Matt Farah?

I, uh, I discovered that guy on, discovered. I found him on YouTube and his voice does not match how he looks.

• 53:26Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 53:27Matt Farah?

And his guitar playing is just insanity.

• 53:29Speaker 01

Well, what I like about him is he's the triple threat. Singer, guitar player, but songwriter.

• 53:35Matt Farah?

  Sure.

• 53:36Speaker 01

There's a lot of guys out there, they can play the shit out of their guitar, they don't know how to write a song.

• 53:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 53:41Speaker 01

Or, or a lot of guys play the shit out of guitar, they can't sing. This guy is a freak of nature. I watched him every night slay it. No warm-up, nothing, just, "I'm nasty, you're gonna get me."

• 53:54Matt Farah?

  The John Daly of music.

• 53:56Speaker 01

  Yeah, absolutely.

• 53:57Matt Farah?

Show up, sing down, 400-yard drive.

• 54:01Speaker 01

  Oh, my God. Hole-in-one.

• 54:02Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 54:03Speaker 01

  And he slays, man.

• 54:04Matt Farah?

Yeah. Love Marcus King. Whip 'em out Wednesday. Wow, with an old O and A reference.

• 54:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 54:09Matt Farah?

Uh, Dean, why did your podcast with Maren only last six shows?

• 54:13Speaker 01

Well, we did it during COVID.

• 54:15Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 54:15Speaker 01

So we were like, there was nothing going on. And then COVID ended and Mark's career just picked back up to, you know, TV and touring and all that. People are always looking for drama, you know?

• 54:29Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 54:29Speaker 01

That's really what happened. It was just like.

• 54:32Matt Farah?

  People got busy.

• 54:33Speaker 01

Yeah, and I love doing it, you know? It was called Dark Fonzie. It actually went 13 episodes, not what he says.

• 54:40Matt Farah?

  He said six.

• 54:41Speaker 01

Yeah, it went 13 episodes and then it was gone. But it was fun to do what it did. It was way bigger than my podcast.

• 54:50Matt Farah?

Also with Matt Wednesday says, in all the years you're with bands, what was the best tour or band you played with?

• 54:57Speaker 01

Well, the best band I ever played with was two years ago. I opened for Metallica as a comedian, two nights.

• 55:03Speaker 02

I want to ask about that.

• 55:06Speaker 02

  Opening for stadium?

• 55:07Speaker 01

Arena, Chase Arena, two nights, 40th anniversary.

• 55:10Matt Farah?

  No pressure.

• 55:11Speaker 01

Although it was absolutely the hardest thing I've ever done.

• 55:15Matt Farah?

  Really?

• 55:15Speaker 01

And they're my favorite band. And I'm from the Bay, and they're from the Bay. We know each other. So I'm like, if I fuck this up, it's all gonna be on me.

• 55:24Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 55:25Speaker 01

  And if I do.

• 55:26Matt Farah?

If you fuck it up, you can't be friends with Metallica anymore.

• 55:29Speaker 01

Well, they'll just be like, hey. It's that weird thing, man, when you bomb at a gig and your friends are there. They don't say anything. They don't address it. They're like, hey, you wanna go get something to eat or something? They don't go like, good show, because they know you're, you know, that.

• 55:43Speaker 02

They know, you would know they're lying.

• 55:44Speaker 01

Yeah, right. Yeah, so the first night was really difficult. And there's a lot of technical problems on their half with the video. That I was introducing videos and then riffing and doing jokes and stuff. And their video server crashed. And, you know, so they're like, stay out there. And I'm like, oh, yeah, I was getting that one stretched. And I was like, oh, God. But the second night was one of the greatest nights of my life.

• 56:10Speaker 02

Are the audiences receptive to, you know, they're there to see Metallica? It's not just like a music show. It's fucking Metallica.

• 56:17Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 56:17Speaker 02

Heavy energy, fast, all that stuff. Are they surprised when a comedian comes out first? Are they open to it?

• 56:23Speaker 01

They, uh, here's what I didn't take in, um, into consideration was this was their forty year anniversary, two night party. It wasn't like a tour, this is specifically this. So fans flew in from Ecuador.

• 56:38Matt Farah?

  Oh.

• 56:39Speaker 01

Hong Kong, Oklahoma, you know, all over. So it was this gamut of people out there. And I'm doing jokes, some people don't know what comedy is. You know what I mean? They're like from, you know, Brazil or whatever. So that was really fucking difficult. But Metallica came out and they said, hey, we're gonna go backstage and get ready, but in the meantime, our good friend comedian Dean Del Rey, so I got a window of about two minutes to start getting them.

• 57:07Matt Farah?

And were you, did you feel more like, a little more like emceeing than doing comedy? It was like?

• 57:12Speaker 01

Well, that's the way I had to approach it because it was three six-minute sets. They didn't tell me that until an hour before I was getting there. I thought I was just going out and doing fifteen, twenty minutes and then bringing Metallica on.

• 57:24Matt Farah?

So three broken up by videos?

• 57:26Speaker 01

Yeah, so it was like six minutes and then go, hey, look at this video of when Metallica started. Then you leave the stage, then you come back, do six more minutes. Hey, look at this. And that is the most difficult.

• 57:38Matt Farah?

That's like Oscars hosting or something.

• 57:40Speaker 01

Yeah, that's different. So you gotta take, you gotta adapt immediately. And if you haven't done a million shows, you're not gonna be, you're just gonna eat shit.

• 57:49Matt Farah?

  Sure.

• 57:49Speaker 01

And I was able to adapt and, uh, it was.

• 57:52Matt Farah?

I did an arena with Metallica is a pretty good one on the fucking resume. That's solid as fuck.

• 57:58Speaker 01

Anybody, that's the thing, like you'll get these people, ah, fuck you, I was there, you weren't funny. It's like, doesn't matter. Doesn't matter what you think.

• 58:06Matt Farah?

Yeah, you bought a ticket and I was on stage.

• 58:08Speaker 01

Doesn't fucking matter. I'm fifty-eight years old and I opened for Metallica. You think you're gonna say? I've been on stage forty-one years this year, forty-one years. Twenty-five music, fifteen on my sixteen comedy. Nothing is going to faze me and make me stop. I got bad reviews in the fucking eighties, you know what I mean? And I got great, great fans that outweigh all of that. Sure.

• 58:34Matt Farah?

That's why you have a career.

• 58:35Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 58:35Matt Farah?

Joe says, favorite pair of sunglasses.

• 58:39Speaker 01

Oh, well, I wear Jacques Marie Maj, which I'm wearing right now, and I wear Blake Kuhara. And those are two brands that are the fi- this is the finest eyewear made on the planet. It takes a couple of years to make it. Uh, the guy is Jerome Maj. He is one of the greatest eyewear guys ever to live, hands down.

• 59:00Matt Farah?

When it takes a couple of years to make it, you, you go for a fitting and a meeting and then it's made for you? How does that work?

• 59:08Speaker 01

It's not made for you, but the way he sources and makes this acetate old world way in Japan and these stone tumblers. And he goes to acetate like libraries and finds the old colors. He is the ultimate freak of eyewear. There's no better than this guy. Uh, an eight barrel hinge so the hinges don't fall apart. You know, it's all this stuff and it's stuff that people go, fuck that, I'd never spend that. It's like, yeah, well, you'll buy nineteen pair of glasses.

• 59:41Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 59:42Speaker 01

I'm buying one and it'll last forever.

• 59:44Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 59:45Speaker 01

  You know?

• 59:45Matt Farah?

  Can you insure it?

• 59:46Speaker 01

You can insure it. Hundred percent.

• 59:48Matt Farah?

  So then, there you go.

• 59:49Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, man.

• 59:50Matt Farah?

Of course, if you lose it, it takes you years to get one.

• 59:52Speaker 01

And they're really, you know, they only make like, there's like a hundred of this shape. So then they're gone. You know, so you-

• 59:56Matt Farah?

Can you buy them in, in LA? Or you have to go-

• 59:59Speaker 01

I go to Optical Connection. It's in Studio City, they got them all.

• 1:00:02Matt Farah?

Uh, interesting. We have a sunglasses sponsor, we're very fortunate. Dylan Hucknick, shout out to him. Yeah, yeah, it's nice to have high-end sunglasses sponsored and they make a good product. Enrico Palazzo says, you are the hosts of Comedians and Cars Getting Coffee for a Day. Who's your comedian guest and what is the car?

• 1:00:20Speaker 01

Hmm. If I was the host, well, I mean, Jerry's had all the greats.

• 1:00:24Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:25Speaker 01

So you can't really, I mean, you know, uh, Norm MacDonald was one of the greatest episodes ever. And he's top three comedian ever for me.

• 1:00:33Matt Farah?

  It wasn't a hypocrisy.

• 1:00:34Speaker 01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Fucking crazy, but, uh, so if I was the host, it would be a Dakar. And I would just go out driving with my good friend, Bill Burr. And we would just go fuck around and go out there to the, uh, Newcombs or whatever and, and just eat some lunch and laugh.

• 1:00:54Matt Farah?

  It's a good plan.

• 1:00:54Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:00:55Matt Farah?

  Uh, I mean.

• 1:01:02Matt Farah?

See, who, you know, is, there's like, it's like, do you, do you take the big star? Or do you take, uh?

• 1:01:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:01:09Matt Farah?

Uh, I don't know. I mean, honestly, I think I have, I would take someone that I, that I, if it's, if we're filming comedians in cars getting coffee, it has to be someone that I have a rapport with. I wouldn't want it to be like a meet my idol sort of moment.

• 1:01:23Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:01:23Matt Farah?

So I'd, I'd probably go with Segura, uh, Tom Segura and just, I, I would be okay that we could do a good show.

• 1:01:31Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:01:31Matt Farah?

I think that's probably, that might be, sounds like a cop out, but also I like Tom very much, so.

• 1:01:37Speaker 02

I think, I'm, I'm thinking Eddie Murphy just cause he's like an idol, obviously, but, um, the car selection's tough. Like, if you want to pair with the person.

• 1:01:45Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:01:45Speaker 02

Cause he was such a powerhouse right when he came out at like 19.

• 1:01:48Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:01:49Speaker 02

  It's kinda like R32 GT-R.

• 1:01:51Matt Farah?

Well, the actual car from that episode of comedians in cars getting coffee was a Carrera GT. That's what they, that's what Jerry took him out in.

• 1:01:58Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:01:58Speaker 02

  That makes sense.

• 1:01:58Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:01:59Speaker 02

Yeah. I would go something different, but I understand the theory. I'm not gonna argue with.

• 1:02:02Speaker 01

Which, by the way, I would use that brand new Singer Turbo that just looks like the old car.

• 1:02:07Speaker 02

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:02:08Speaker 01

So, I would go with that.

• 1:02:10Matt Farah?

  Yeah. It's the best.

• 1:02:11Speaker 01

  Oh, you drove it?

• 1:02:12Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:02:12Speaker 01

Which one, the silver or the white one?

• 1:02:14Matt Farah?

Neither. I drove my friend's personal car. It's blue. I drove it on a wet Willow Springs.

• 1:02:19Speaker 01

  What's that like?

• 1:02:20Matt Farah?

Sick. It's the, the, the, the, the most interest, and I did not get to really exploit it because it was a wet Willow Spring. And the car had 341 miles on it. We're gonna get to drive the white one, Zach and I, in a couple of weeks.

• 1:02:34Speaker 01

Oh, can I go with you guys?

• 1:02:35Matt Farah?

Sort of proper. Uh, you can come out if you want.

• 1:02:37Speaker 01

  I can go.

• 1:02:38Matt Farah?

You can meet us out there.

• 1:02:39Speaker 01

I'll just meet you wherever you are.

• 1:02:40Matt Farah?

Yeah, we'll be up on the mountain with it.

• 1:02:41Speaker 01

  100%.

• 1:02:42Matt Farah?

But what, the, the most, by far, the, the, the most interesting thing about it.

• 1:02:48Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:02:49Matt Farah?

Was there was absolutely no evidence that a, a car was there before.

• 1:02:54Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:02:54Matt Farah?

Like, it didn't feel like a car that started as a, another car and was, and was restored.

• 1:03:00Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:03:00Matt Farah?

This is a new car. It's a totally new car. And even though the engine is air-cooled, whatever they've done, it makes it feel very much like the engine in a Carrera T.

• 1:03:10Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 1:03:11Matt Farah?

Which is real crazy. And it feels like a brand new OEM level product, which I have not seen before. And so it's pretty extraordinary.

• 1:03:21Speaker 01

  Turbo bag?

• 1:03:24Matt Farah?

I mean, I didn't, I didn't drive it around the city. I, I, I, I got four wet laps around Willow Springs. So, I mean, I can't imagine it's bad. I think it's a, I think it's a delight. I think it's, they've made some smart decisions and we'll let you know when we drive it for real.

• 1:03:39Speaker 01

I love what they did with the, like, the shark fin.

• 1:03:42Matt Farah?

  It's beautiful.

• 1:03:42Speaker 01

And the accordion rubber bumpers. It's just crazy.

• 1:03:46Matt Farah?

They're, you know, they're not rubber. They're carbon.

• 1:03:48Speaker 01

  I know, that's what I'm saying.

• 1:03:49Matt Farah?

And you can get them in, in visual weave or you can get them in black.

• 1:03:54Speaker 01

  Right, I saw the black.

• 1:03:55Matt Farah?

  They look better in black.

• 1:03:56Speaker 01

  It's sick.

• 1:03:57Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. I went down there to the factory last week.

• 1:04:00Speaker 01

Oh, they did a drone tour of it. Oh my god.

• 1:04:03Matt Farah?

They got a lot of builds going on.

• 1:04:05Speaker 01

  The little fucking...

• 1:04:06Matt Farah?

In Sun Valley with four bays, yeah.

• 1:04:08Speaker 01

Yeah, four bays and now it's...

• 1:04:09Matt Farah?

  Long time ago.

• 1:04:10Speaker 01

  What?

• 1:04:11Matt Farah?

So, but I, I was a little, I said this on another show, but I was a little disappointed overall with the creativity of their customers when it came to picking colors.

• 1:04:19Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:04:20Matt Farah?

There was a couple of unbelievable showstoppers.

• 1:04:24Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:04:25Matt Farah?

And there was a lot of very muted colors that would have been from cars from the seventies and stuff.

• 1:04:30Speaker 01

Well, the people that buy those are extremely rich and they not necessarily want to be popping.

• 1:04:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:04:37Speaker 01

Like, to me, I'm always into popping because it's like, why wouldn't wear a Rolex sub? Cause you walk in the room and there's eighty subs.

• 1:04:47Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:04:47Speaker 01

I want to be, and not just for you to look at me. I'm more always wanted something that was just different than everybody. That's why I shot that special in a cave. That's why I'm always seeking something that other people don't have because I grew up in the Bay Area. And when that Cotton Dockers Gap thing hit and everybody looked like a fucking, just, uh, take me to the techy building. I was like, what the fuck happened here? We had like sixties hippies.

• 1:05:19Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:19Speaker 01

We had beat, you know, beat poets. We had blue collar. We had the punk rockers and we had the metalheads and now everybody's just wearing one outfit for me.

• 1:05:31Matt Farah?

  Vest, button down.

• 1:05:33Speaker 01

Oh. So I think it really had an effect on me, you know? It really knocked me into like, I can't do this.

• 1:05:41Matt Farah?

For me, I think the more expensive the car, I mean, I guess I, I guess I can relate to the Singer thing because the more expensive the car, the, the less flashy the color I usually want to. I love a hatchback in nuclear orange.

• 1:05:54Speaker 01

  Right, right, right, right.

• 1:05:56Matt Farah?

You know, and, and yes, I have a pink Porsche, but like.

• 1:06:00Speaker 01

I go pink all day long.

• 1:06:01Matt Farah?

  Pink's good.

• 1:06:02Speaker 01

  Oh my god.

• 1:06:02Matt Farah?

  Carrera T pink was crazy.

• 1:06:04Speaker 01

  This pink, uh.

• 1:06:05Matt Farah?

The ruby star Carrera T with the aero kit is a lot.

• 1:06:09Speaker 01

What about this, this pink, uh, GT, uh, uh, hold on. This thing is insane and it's an RS. I don't know who made it, but I saw it and went, oh, I want to meet that guy.

• 1:06:24Matt Farah?

Oh, is, are you about to show me the pink RS with like the McDonald's interior? It's like pink with yellow and red interior.

• 1:06:31Speaker 01

  I didn't see the interior.

• 1:06:33Matt Farah?

There are some builds that someone should have said.

• 1:06:36Speaker 01

  This is Barbie pink though.

• 1:06:38Matt Farah?

  Oh.

• 1:06:39Speaker 01

You know, it's, it's not the, not a pink you ever fucking see.

• 1:06:44Matt Farah?

  Like hot pink.

• 1:06:45Speaker 01

Oh, yeah, like Barbie pink. I was like, oh my god. It's like Paris Hilton when she had that Bentley and pink.

• 1:06:52Matt Farah?

Oh, I remember that. Yeah, I was, I was not a fan. Is it, is it, that's not pink, is it?

• 1:06:56Speaker 02

  That's very pink.

• 1:06:57Speaker 01

That's it, right there. Look at that thing, man.

• 1:06:59Matt Farah?

Uh, that looks like, uh, well, it's a Middle Eastern plate.

• 1:07:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:07:03Matt Farah?

  Hermes pink Sakura GT3.

• 1:07:06Speaker 01

  It's like Dubai special.

• 1:07:07Matt Farah?

  Yeah, definitely.

• 1:07:08Speaker 01

  But look at that thing.

• 1:07:09Matt Farah?

  It's not bad, though.

• 1:07:10Speaker 01

No, I love it. What are you telling me?

• 1:07:12Matt Farah?

The license plate nine eleven in UAE, you think that's real?

• 1:07:16Speaker 01

  I don't know.

• 1:07:17Matt Farah?

  I don't know.

• 1:07:18Speaker 01

  But look at it.

• 1:07:18Matt Farah?

But it is fucking pink. That's true.

• 1:07:20Speaker 02

That is the Barbier of pink.

• 1:07:22Matt Farah?

That is the Barbier of pink. Oh, Lumiere. I don't know what that means.

• 1:07:26Speaker 01

I don't go the, the wing, you know, that's, that's where I draw the line. I'll go pink, but no wing. Touring only for me.

• 1:07:33Matt Farah?

  There's a.

• 1:07:33Speaker 01

  GT3 touring only.

• 1:07:35Matt Farah?

Bruce Canepa, when he sells his GT2 RSs, he flips them over there. He takes the wings off, sells them as he's sort of subtle. Yeah, I get. I totally get it. Uh, the special is up on your YouTube channel on?

• 1:07:49Speaker 01

April 17th, but you can see it on my Patreon.com slash Dean Del Ray, uh, starting this Sunday. And then, uh, tour dates, DeanDelRay.com. I'm going to Austin, Texas for two nights next week with Joey Diaz.

• 1:08:04Matt Farah?

Really? What nights? Wait, go look. I'm in Austin next week.

• 1:08:07Speaker 01

No, April 17, 18. I don't know when this comes out.

• 1:08:11Matt Farah?

Yeah, no, it's okay. You, you actually said it right for when this comes out. I'm in Austin the weekend before that. But that'll be a fucking awesome show. You and Joey Diaz, he's a lunatic. He's the best.

• 1:08:22Speaker 01

Great friend of mine and we're doing two nights at the Paramount Theater then.

• 1:08:26Matt Farah?

Yo, the Belly Up with Tom Green in Solana Beach?

• 1:08:30Speaker 01

Yeah, I'm doing a Tom Green tour.

• 1:08:32Matt Farah?

  Can I come?

• 1:08:32Speaker 01

  Oh, 100%.

• 1:08:33Matt Farah?

I have, I have family in Solana Beach. I love the Belly Up. And I love Tom fucking Green.

• 1:08:38Speaker 01

  Come backstage, hang out.

• 1:08:40Matt Farah?

Dude, count me in for the Belly Up. Let's fucking go.

• 1:08:44Speaker 01

And then, uh, Comedy Fort, one of the greatest clubs in Colorado, hands down, uh, Friday, uh, June 13th and 14th. And, uh, and then Las Vegas, May 12th through the 18th at the Comedy Cellar.

• 1:08:57Matt Farah?

At the, is that at the Rio?

• 1:08:59Speaker 01

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:09:00Matt Farah?

Cool. Didn't, did someone, a comic owns a club in Vegas also. Who, uh?

• 1:09:06Speaker 02

  Well, Brad Garrett.

• 1:09:08Speaker 01

Oh, Brad Garrett. That's great. I never worked it, but he's a, he's a great comic and his room's great. I've been trying to get in there for like six years, but, uh, you know, it's one of those rooms.

• 1:09:18Matt Farah?

Call the man back. I, I will 100% uh, see you April 24th in Solana Beach. I love the Belly Up.

• 1:09:26Speaker 01

And then April 17th, YouTube, subscribe to my channel now, Dean Del Ray, the special 5836. Produced by Bill Burr and myself, self-financed, so anything you throw at it would be greatly appreciated. And, uh, at Dean Del Ray is my Instagram. Thank you for having me so much, man.

• 1:09:43Matt Farah?

Thanks, Dean. Good to see you. Let's get this man a Carrera T Safari. He very much, 5,836 goddamn comedy sets. He deserves it.

• 1:09:51Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:09:52Matt Farah?

I think you deserve, I think if you get, if you do 5,000 of something. You deserve a Porsche.

• 1:09:59Speaker 01

Well, it's funny when you do that many sets, man, uh, and you, I'm, I'm at 6,000 now.

• 1:10:05Speaker 02

  Yeah.

• 1:10:06Speaker 01

So when you look at it, it's just like, and you're 59 years old. I just want to tell everybody.

• 1:10:11Matt Farah?

But when did you do your first set?

• 1:10:13Speaker 01

I said, December 6th, 2009. So when I was 44 years old, I stepped on the stage at the Comedy Store.

• 1:10:20Speaker 02

  There's hope yet.

• 1:10:21Matt Farah?

  So 15 years.

• 1:10:23Speaker 01

  Yeah, 15 years.

• 1:10:24Matt Farah?

  6,000 sets.

• 1:10:25Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:10:26Matt Farah?

How many sets a year is that? That's more than, I mean, it's more than 2,000.

• 1:10:30Speaker 01

  Oh, well, it's.

• 1:10:31Matt Farah?

  No, right?

• 1:10:32Speaker 01

No, no, no, no, no, cause I'm at 6,000.

• 1:10:34Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, sorry, my math.

• 1:10:36Speaker 01

  500, 400 a year?

• 1:10:37Matt Farah?

It's a couple hundred a year for sure.

• 1:10:39Speaker 01

  Oh, but way over that.

• 1:10:40Matt Farah?

  Fuck, yeah.

• 1:10:40Speaker 01

Yeah, I mean, my first year I did, uh, 296.

• 1:10:44Speaker 02

  400 a year?

• 1:10:45Matt Farah?

  400 sets a year?

• 1:10:47Speaker 01

So my second year I did 580. And then I got almost a 600. I've never made 600 in a year and I can't do it now because I do way longer shows.

• 1:10:57Speaker 02

And you do that in LA or in New York?

• 1:10:59Speaker 01

LA and the road and New York.

• 1:11:00Speaker 02

I was gonna say, like, New York, you can kinda like walk from show to show easier than here, right? Here you gotta like drive between mics.

• 1:11:06Speaker 01

Well, I did, I'm gonna tell you this, I did 5,000 of those sets on a motorcycle.

• 1:11:11Matt Farah?

  Sick.

• 1:11:12Speaker 01

  Like all over, Bakersfield, Sacramento.

• 1:11:15Matt Farah?

Are you toured on a motorcycle?

• 1:11:17Speaker 01

  I rode everywhere. I didn't have a car.

• 1:11:19Matt Farah?

  What kinda bike?

• 1:11:20Speaker 01

Well, Harley at first and then I went to the Beamer GS.

• 1:11:24Matt Farah?

There you go. At least you figured out a good road trip bike.

• 1:11:28Speaker 01

  Ducati Multistrada.

• 1:11:29Matt Farah?

Oh, wow, yeah, yeah, yeah. How many miles do you get on those bikes? When you're doing 40, 50,000 miles on those bikes?

• 1:11:35Speaker 01

I had multiple bikes, so I'd just rotate them, but all of them had like 20,000 a year and I'd just flip them for the new bike, you know?

• 1:11:42Matt Farah?

That's, that's fucking road warrior shit.

• 1:11:44Speaker 01

Oh dude, boiling hot, sandstorms, slight snow, rain, uh, you know, freezing cold.

• 1:11:55Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:56Speaker 01

  Man.

• 1:11:56Matt Farah?

Do you still ride much? I haven't seen you on a bike much.

• 1:11:58Speaker 01

  Well, I got ran over.

• 1:12:00Matt Farah?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:12:00Speaker 01

Yeah, meth had hit me doing 70 on the 110 and I had to have neck surgery. Uh, shout out to lifespan, me, um, medicine, they saved my fucking life.

• 1:12:11Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:12Speaker 01

Rogan sent me to this guy. My arm was numb, my foot was numb, I couldn't fly, I was like, I'm not gonna be able to work. She hit and ran me and, uh, they never caught her. So I didn't get it, you know.

• 1:12:24Matt Farah?

  Nothing.

• 1:12:24Speaker 01

There was no suing or anything, I was broken up, the, you know, Burr was coming over, bringing me these white t-shirts. I was just bleeding out and I'd put the shirt on and just bleed into it and throw it away.

• 1:12:36Matt Farah?

  Boy, yikes.

• 1:12:37Speaker 01

  Fucking gnarly.

• 1:12:38Speaker 02

That's not how, that's not how medicine.

• 1:12:40Speaker 01

  It was gnarly, dude.

• 1:12:42Matt Farah?

That's not like normal, good medicine.

• 1:12:44Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:12:45Matt Farah?

  That's bad.

• 1:12:45Speaker 01

  No, so, yeah.

• 1:12:46Matt Farah?

  Alright, so no more motorcycles.

• 1:12:47Speaker 01

Well, I rode after that because I didn't, you know. I, that's what I had, but no, yeah.

• 1:12:53Matt Farah?

  Fuck.

• 1:12:54Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:12:54Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. With age comes a cage.

• 1:12:56Speaker 01

Yeah. Yeah, with age comes a cage. You know, uh, Bill and I ride when we're out on the road.

• 1:13:02Matt Farah?

  Oh, dude?

• 1:13:02Speaker 01

If we're out in like Wyoming, we'll get some bikes and we just rode all through the Colorado Rockies.

• 1:13:07Matt Farah?

  Oh, it was awesome.

• 1:13:08Speaker 01

Fucking insane. Uh, Jason Chinick, who's the CEO of Ducati, is a good friend of mine. He hooked us up with bikes.

• 1:13:16Matt Farah?

Oh, I met that guy. Yeah, he was cool. Yeah, I met him.

• 1:13:18Speaker 01

We rode up to the Shining Hotel.

• 1:13:20Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:13:20Speaker 02

Oh, Estes Park? Yeah, stunning. Good ride. I used to ride out around there when I did.

• 1:13:25Matt Farah?

AC on in here, it just got very hot. Um, dude, thank you very much. For those of us, uh, listening live, we're back at 3pm Pacific. We got a doubleheader today.

• 1:13:34Speaker 01

  Oh, really?

• 1:13:34Matt Farah?

Yeah, I'm going out of town for a week, so we gotta get ahead.

• 1:13:37Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:13:37Matt Farah?

It's alright. All the radio today. Um, and yeah, get Dean's special, go see him live, meet me at the Belly Up, April 24th. We'll see him live together and, uh, thanks for listening, everybody. We'll see you next time. Bye.
