We love Off the Record here and you guys are always emailing me and please keep doing this when you use Off the Record and they get you out of a ticket. Man, I got a good one the other day. It was in Nebraska, big, big one. And the, it was a patron actually, and totally got out of it. Basically, if you get pulled over, if you get a ticket, if you get stopped by law enforcement and issued a summons, call Off the Record. Well, don't literally call, go to offtherecord.com/tst or download

that Off the Record app and use code TSTPOD and Off the Record will fight that ticket in the jurisdiction you got it. They'll connect with a qualified attorney that'll handle that ticket, go to court, meet with the prosecutor, the whole deal. You don't have to do anything. It's so easy. You'll send them a photo of the ticket, a brief explanation of what happened, and Off the Record will take care of the rest. I've used them so many times and you guys out there in podcast land have clearly as well. So, once again, that's offtherecord.com/tst

We had Thanksgiving in respective places and we drove some things. In this episode, I review the electric G-Wagon and we talk about my first impressions of the Enios Grenadier. Plus, we had some Thanksgiving treats and I drove a 4Runner in Savannah and my wife had a Cars and Coffee surprise party for me, which was pretty amazing stuff. Let's talk

• 2:03Matt Farah?

about all of it and a whole lot more. It's a crew show on today's episode of the Smoking Tire Podcast.

• 2:11Matt Farah?

But like glasses, you know, that's an expensive lesson to learn unfortunately.

• 2:19Speaker 01

I bought like, you can get cheap readers if you just need like a fix, but if you have a specific prescription, then they're expensive.

• 2:25Matt Farah?

Yeah, and the progressives are more expensive than them. Don't buy them from the optometrist. Ever.

• 2:31Speaker 01

  Online.

• 2:32Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 2:33Speaker 01

  Yeah. They're way cheaper.

• 2:35Matt Farah?

It was, it was by, it was probably half.

• 2:37Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:39Matt Farah?

  Yeah. Good? Proof?

• 2:41Speaker 01

  We have proof.

• 2:41Matt Farah?

Proof of life? Shit. Hello? Welcome back! Everyone enjoying being back in the office? Traffic's back?

• 2:52Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 2:53Matt Farah?

Uh, I checked how long it took Eric to get in, back, back to Max. Traffic this morning. We had a nice week of just a couple days.

• 3:02Speaker 01

  Cruising.

• 3:02Matt Farah?

Monday, Tuesday, no traffic. Freedom. It was great.

• 3:06Speaker 01

  Last week?

• 3:06Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 3:07Speaker 01

  Just zipping around?

• 3:08Matt Farah?

  Yeah, everyone's gone.

• 3:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 3:09Matt Farah?

And, uh, I went to Savannah, Georgia with, uh, some family. You went to?

• 3:15Speaker 01

  Palm Springs.

• 3:15Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 3:16Speaker 01

  With all the family?

• 3:16Matt Farah?

  Traditionally.

• 3:17Speaker 01

  Yep.

• 3:18Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 3:18Speaker 01

Been doing it since the eighties.

• 3:19Matt Farah?

  And how many dogs?

• 3:20Speaker 01

  Five.

• 3:21Matt Farah?

  Oof.

• 3:22Speaker 01

  Five dogs, five children?

• 3:26Matt Farah?

  Mm-hmm.

• 3:26Speaker 01

Five dogs, five children, twenty-two people. Total.

• 3:28Matt Farah?

How many, one home? How many homes?

• 3:31Speaker 01

Three. We all, but we all gather at one. My aunt has a house there. So we Airbnb around it in the area.

• 3:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 3:36Speaker 01

And then we go to the hub and it's just.

• 3:39Matt Farah?

  It's gotta be mayhem.

• 3:40Speaker 01

It's a lot. It gets fun and I love everyone. Honestly, they're all fun, but there's so much happening. Like, it's like going to SEMA. You leave, Sarah and I would leave at like nine PM and our brains were just done, because all, you had so many different conversations all day long while watching the dogs, while like entertaining children. It was, it was exhausting.

• 3:57Matt Farah?

That's a lot of people to be.

• 3:59Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 4:00Matt Farah?

  You know, in one place.

• 4:01Speaker 01

Yeah, when we got in the car, we finally dropped my parents off on Saturday. For like the next hour and a half home, we just didn't talk. Then we got home and we didn't talk.

• 4:09Matt Farah?

Man, I have enjoyed some silences, you know?

• 4:14Matt Farah?

What was, is that the best, what's the best silence that you can like remember?

• 4:19Speaker 01

  The best silence?

• 4:21Matt Farah?

  Like?

• 4:21Speaker 01

  Oh, like camping.

• 4:23Matt Farah?

  Oh, yeah. Yeah.

• 4:24Speaker 01

But not, not nighttime. Daytime camping, you go sit on a hill.

• 4:28Matt Farah?

  Mm-hmm.

• 4:29Speaker 01

And there's just like a little wind and a little creek. And you stare at something, that's the best silence. And if you fall asleep in a hammock while camping, that's the genius.

• 4:39Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. Same, shift that to like a boat, you know, like hammock between the, the forest day and the mast. You know, at anchor, that same kind of vibe.

• 4:51Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 4:52Matt Farah?

But like, I remember driving back two years ago from Pebble Beach when I drove through the hurricane. And when I left the concourse on Sunday and got in that McLaren and I was like, in the car now, I don't have to talk to anybody anymore for like, like two days. And then I like didn't.

• 5:11Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 5:12Matt Farah?

  And it was.

• 5:13Speaker 01

  Yeah, the recharge is important.

• 5:15Matt Farah?

Yeah. Even driving a McLaren through a hurricane, it was somehow relaxing.

• 5:20Speaker 01

And that was not the quietest car to do that in, because it, because you know, there's not a lot of mountain edding, right?

• 5:25Matt Farah?

No, 720 was good. No, no, it was alright, yeah. The English can, can build a car that works in the wet. It's proven over and over.

• 5:33Speaker 01

  They have to.

• 5:34Matt Farah?

Yeah, no choice. The customer will not put up with it. What do you need?

• 5:39Matt Farah?

  Oh, my back.

• 5:41Speaker 01

  It is.

• 5:41Matt Farah?

  Need a backiatomy?

• 5:42Speaker 01

  Rest, yeah.

• 5:44Matt Farah?

Do you think you're gonna need surgery?

• 5:46Speaker 01

Not if I actually keep doing the thing I do.

• 5:49Matt Farah?

Problem is like doing it like forever is a long time, you know?

• 5:53Speaker 01

Yeah. This is the life cycle. It's, I'm really diligent first five months of the year. It's better.

• 5:58Matt Farah?

  Mm-hmm.

• 5:59Speaker 01

I feel like Superman. Start exercising, doing other things. And I go, I could skip that today. I'm kind of doing core today, doing this other stuff. And then January, I'll hurt myself again.

• 6:07Matt Farah?

  Mm-hmm.

• 6:08Speaker 01

So that is the lunar cycle of Zach Klapman's spine.

• 6:11Matt Farah?

Yeah, I somehow managed to escape the orbit of that after like, you know, two surgeries plus seven years.

• 6:22Speaker 01

But you did PT four years after surgery.

• 6:24Matt Farah?

The whole time, right? Entire time.

• 6:26Speaker 01

  Exactly, yeah.

• 6:27Matt Farah?

I did PT until like yesterday.

• 6:29Speaker 01

See, you're never done either. Surgery doesn't get you out of that.

• 6:33Matt Farah?

No, because if it's not my back, it's my shitty knees. It's always my something.

• 6:36Speaker 01

I'm in back focus specifically, yeah.

• 6:38Matt Farah?

I did back for a while and then once back got better, I was like, I like it here. Let me, you know, fuck something else up.

• 6:45Speaker 01

  Right.

• 6:45Matt Farah?

Can you ski? I mean, I know you can, but like, you shouldn't.

• 6:49Speaker 01

They said twisting is my spine's least favorite thing. And that's all twisting. I miss it so much, so much.

• 6:57Matt Farah?

Well, you know what sucks is all my like ski friends don't live in LA anymore. It's very, very, or are broken.

• 7:04Speaker 01

  Right.

• 7:05Matt Farah?

It's amazing to think that someone, that you are somehow more broken than me.

• 7:09Speaker 01

  In some ways.

• 7:10Matt Farah?

If you look at us and you go, guess which one is the broken one?

• 7:12Speaker 01

  Yeah, it's true.

• 7:13Matt Farah?

  It would be a pretty.

• 7:14Speaker 01

  That's very, very true.

• 7:15Matt Farah?

  Vegas would favor.

• 7:16Speaker 01

Yeah, the odds, the upset would be great.

• 7:19Matt Farah?

Especially with this, like my don't give a fuck beard right now.

• 7:22Speaker 01

Someone could make a lot, well, I have a don't give a fuck, but I don't have a beard. But, um, what was I gonna say?

• 7:30Matt Farah?

  So anyway.

• 7:31Speaker 01

If I, if I win the lottery, I'll be hiring whoever Sean White's doctors are, or Mike Sicciarelli, any one of the Red Bull like slope style people. I'll just be like, I'm gonna hire you for a year. Just like, laser me, fix me. That's what we're doing.

• 7:44Matt Farah?

Yeah, I think the, uh, Dr. Watkins and Marina Del Rey is pretty close to that level.

• 7:49Speaker 01

No, no, I would start with him for sure and then go find the trainer.

• 7:52Matt Farah?

He's like the Cirque du Soleil, which, which I think is probably like one level under Olympics, right?

• 7:57Speaker 01

  I think it's, no, I think it's even. I think it's.

• 7:59Matt Farah?

You think it's flat? Because the same people, if you go to the Olympics,

• 8:02Speaker 01

  Yeah, for sure.

• 8:03Matt Farah?

What do you do after that?

• 8:04Speaker 01

  Right.

• 8:05Matt Farah?

If you're not Simone Biles, you'd probably go to like Cirque du Soleil, right?

• 8:09Speaker 01

I think a lot of them do, or they start a fitness program on Instagram out of that. Which, fine, get your bag, because the Olympics doesn't pay you enough and your endorsement deals might not either.

• 8:18Matt Farah?

No, I'm not hating at all. That's probably a good guess. I don't follow up on this sort of stuff. Just throwing it around, but, uh, hi, everybody. I rented a 4Runner in Savannah, which is a kind of a funny choice. It's actually like Hannah picked it up, so she was like, "I got this." And I was like, "Oh, alright, interesting." It was like a, it was brand new, not the updated one, not the new, new one. It's a 24.

• 8:46Matt Farah?

It is a, I understand both why people like them and why I don't really like them. They just feel like, it feels like buying like a 2010 car today. Which I, which now I'm, today I'm driving an Enios Grenadier, which is the attempt at selling a 1990 car today. You know, but like, uh, it really does, if you're, if you're like, "I don't want all this extra shit." If you're that person, that's like, doesn't want any of the extra shit, a Toyota 4Runner is your car. Or a Tacoma, uh, the old Tacoma.

• 9:25Speaker 01

Yeah, it feels like one generation ago technology. Not we one generation, like decades.

• 9:30Matt Farah?

Two. Two, this is a two-generation old car.

• 9:33Speaker 01

But there's something endearing, and I would say there's something comforting about that, because you go, "Ooh, this is simple."

• 9:39Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 9:39Speaker 01

Feels simple, probably is gonna work.

• 9:42Matt Farah?

Simple implies will last a very long time. I mean, you know, uh, my sister-in-law Jillian. Jillian is a very strong personality. Her fucking 4Runner, she's, she got one, it's like cold dead hands. For no real reason. She can't explain why, just like, really likes it.

• 10:01Speaker 01

I thought she had a Polestar.

• 10:03Matt Farah?

She has a Volvo, uh, Recharge V60.

• 10:07Speaker 01

  Right.

• 10:07Matt Farah?

  And a 4Runner.

• 10:08Speaker 01

Oh, she has both now, okay.

• 10:09Matt Farah?

  Yeah. She's Rico now.

• 10:11Speaker 01

Dude, they made, they made the Crown Vic in 2011. Like, think about that. That's what the 4Runner, I think, is one generation ago. It still feels like it's being made that old way.

• 10:21Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 10:21Speaker 01

Simple, will work, and from your cold dead hands.

• 10:24Matt Farah?

Hey, speaking of crazy year shit, Eric, our general manager at Westside Collector Car Storage, was, uh, has a bunch of cars.

• 10:31Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 10:31Matt Farah?

He has a real car problem.

• 10:32Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 10:33Matt Farah?

He has to work really hard to maintain his car. Problem, which is tough because it's so hard. He has to work so hard that he then doesn't have time to drive his cars.

• 10:41Speaker 01

  Correct.

• 10:42Matt Farah?

And I keep telling him to try to rectify this problem. And so he's considering selling this car he's got, which is a 997 dot two turbo S. Manual.

• 10:53Speaker 01

  It's awesome.

• 10:53Matt Farah?

Very rare, not turbo S because they're all PDK, but it's a turbo manual. Dot two, very rare car. A big money car, actually. Um, and he could, he could do really well on it. Uh, but what he told me today, the car has, still has an extended warranty on it. It's a 997.

• 11:11Speaker 01

  What?

• 11:12Matt Farah?

It has 18 months of extent, transferable extended warranty. So he could put that car on Bring a Trader today and you could buy it with an 18 month Porsche warranty.

• 11:23Speaker 01

He could sell that car for so much money.

• 11:24Matt Farah?

  For so much money.

• 11:25Speaker 01

  When did he get it?

• 11:26Matt Farah?

Uh, like six years ago, seven years ago. Yeah.

• 11:30Speaker 01

Yeah. It's, it looks so perfect.

• 11:32Matt Farah?

He'll do well, but it's like a sub 20,000 mile car, but uh, and maybe we will sell it and uh, and that would be fun. Um, but I was, he was like, he's like, yeah, that starts, car still has a bumper to bumper warranty of like, explain that to me. And he said, he just like, kept getting the extended.

• 11:49Speaker 01

  Just kept extending it.

• 11:50Matt Farah?

  Super extended warranty.

• 11:52Speaker 01

  God, it's a telescoping warranty.

• 11:53Matt Farah?

Yeah, and it's transferable to one person.

• 11:57Speaker 01

Oh, so only the second owner can, or.

• 12:00Matt Farah?

Like he has it and if he sells it, it can go to the, oh, the, the buyer, but they can't.

• 12:05Speaker 01

  That's a good buy.

• 12:06Matt Farah?

But it can't then go to a third party.

• 12:08Speaker 01

Buying that car, if someone's interested, like Eric takes great care of his cars and doesn't drive them that much.

• 12:13Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 12:13Speaker 01

And it has a warranty, perfect.

• 12:14Matt Farah?

  Crazy, right?

• 12:15Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 12:16Matt Farah?

Like Eric, how many miles could you do in 18 months? Not that many. I was like, just beat the shit out of it for 18 months and then, if it's still good, then go, thank you, sir. Good night and good luck.

• 12:26Speaker 01

  You can do that.

• 12:26Matt Farah?

And you've had the experience, but that's just me.

• 12:28Speaker 01

Speaking of warranty, my brother just bought a Pacifica hybrid. Despite, despite me advising him that that may not be the best idea. I told him your story. I told him your story.

• 12:38Matt Farah?

  No.

• 12:38Speaker 01

I also showed him news clippings about, you know, like two days ago, Stellantis CEO leaves. Chrysler has fewer and fewer products like it's just and I like the Pacifica.

• 12:47Matt Farah?

  It's not the right time.

• 12:48Speaker 01

I like the way it drives.

• 12:50Matt Farah?

It's not the right time to buy a Pacifica hybrid.

• 12:52Speaker 01

It's great, but this is not the car to get for someone who's going to own it for 10, 15 years.

• 12:56Matt Farah?

  No.

• 12:57Speaker 01

  In my opinion.

• 12:58Matt Farah?

  No.

• 12:58Speaker 01

And so he, you know, he does those calls and he goes, does it, do these third-party warranties work? And I was like, I don't read the fine print, Gabe, because I don't have to, but you need to.

• 13:07Matt Farah?

  A third-party warranty?

• 13:09Speaker 01

You can get like used car warranties on these things.

• 13:10Matt Farah?

Oh no, yeah. What, what year is the one he bought? It's not brand new?

• 13:14Speaker 01

It's like a 22 or 21. It's pretty new, but you, you know, your friend lemoned his.

• 13:19Matt Farah?

  Yes.

• 13:19Speaker 01

Now this, this was a rental car, so it, it made it past the lemon stage. That's a pro. It's like 30,000 miles on it, so you know it's going to work.

• 13:29Matt Farah?

  It's been durability tested.

• 13:31Speaker 01

Exactly. However, it's still, it's a Chrysler hybrid product. I mean, the Jeep recall was sizable.

• 13:38Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 13:39Speaker 01

Because of fire, so I don't know.

• 13:41Matt Farah?

It's such a bummer because I really like how the Pacifica drives.

• 13:44Speaker 01

  Me too.

• 13:45Matt Farah?

  Drives really nice.

• 13:46Speaker 01

It looks good inside. The captain's chairs in the back are no joke.

• 13:48Matt Farah?

The seats are really nice. It drives good.

• 13:50Speaker 01

I think it still folds flat even though you have a hybrid battery too.

• 13:54Matt Farah?

I think it, well, they can't have this, uh, oh, they do. They patented the stow and go. Yeah. The hi, I think they do. Does the hybrid one fold? The, the, the one we rented, the gas one definitely does.

• 14:06Speaker 01

It has third rear, third rear stow and go, not second rear.

• 14:10Matt Farah?

  Oh, okay.

• 14:10Speaker 01

Not second, uh, sorry, third row stow and go, not second row.

• 14:14Matt Farah?

  Still very usable.

• 14:15Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 14:16Matt Farah?

  But, mm.

• 14:17Speaker 01

But you know, there's like, there's Odyssey, there's Zena. What about these? And he found that one.

• 14:22Matt Farah?

  Yeah. Wow.

• 14:23Speaker 01

  We'll report back.

• 14:26Matt Farah?

Yeah, I get, I maybe get that third-party warranty. Oh man, what are you doing, bro? So, yesterday was my birthday. And Hannah had a surprise Cars and Coffee in my driveway, which is... Actually, it's very, it's exactly the kind of thing that Hannah would do. It's a very Hannah gift, and I'm not trying to say, it's not on my Instagram.

• 14:52Speaker 01

  That's not okay.

• 14:53Matt Farah?

  I didn't, I didn't have my phone. I didn't even bring my phone outside.

• 14:56Speaker 01

  Nice, okay.

• 14:57Matt Farah?

Other people had some, I'm like tagged in a couple of pictures. Like, there was some, there was some people who were there. Yeah, yeah. It was, it was, I mean, I didn't think that you could have a birthday party for somebody at 8 o'clock in the morning. But you can, as it turns out, people, people will, uh, come.

• 15:18Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 15:19Matt Farah?

Uh, and we have, I have a lot of great friends that came. Alex Roy came from Phoenix by 1987 9/11 Targa.

• 15:29Speaker 01

Did he drive that morning, or did?

• 15:31Matt Farah?

No, he drove the day before.

• 15:33Speaker 01

  Night before, right? Alright, good.

• 15:34Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 15:34Speaker 01

Which is amazing, because he still showed up late. Like, hours late.

• 15:38Matt Farah?

  Hours, which is...

• 15:41Speaker 01

And then parked in the driveway, which was the most Alex move.

• 15:43Matt Farah?

  The most, yeah.

• 15:44Speaker 01

Everyone else parks on the street.

• 15:45Matt Farah?

And he left to drive straight back to Phoenix. But for, that's now, uh, my 40th birthday, he flew from Miami for the party, and then took a red eye back to Miami.

• 15:56Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 15:57Matt Farah?

I really appreciate Alex Roy's, uh, commitment to coming to my birthday parties. It's like, he's the best.

• 16:04Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 16:05Matt Farah?

And, and two of those, uh, long hauls is unbelievable. But then, like, it was, uh, people brought weird cars, like, to our neighborhood. And it looked great. It was really fun.

• 16:17Speaker 01

  Really cool.

• 16:17Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 16:18Speaker 01

Sergio brought that, uh, crazy Mini Cooper.

• 16:22Matt Farah?

  Oh, yeah.

• 16:23Speaker 01

That was sitting in his garage, we went to this, we went to this F1 party, and there's this, like, army green Mini Cooper. And from across the room, I look at Sarah and I go, "That's rear engine."

• 16:31Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 16:32Speaker 01

We walk over, yes, but it looks like, it's not as tidy as, uh...

• 16:37Matt Farah?

  The gildred.

• 16:38Speaker 01

Gildred, it's not like that. This looks like a guy built it, like one person, and it's supercharged and turbocharged, I think.

• 16:45Matt Farah?

It was, but they took the supercharger off. It's just a turbo. It's like a Honda K20 with a turbo on it. I didn't think it was street legal.

• 16:55Speaker 01

I didn't think it ever got driven. I saw it, I was like, I understand why someone would buy this as an ornament in their in their collection. This is a psychotic machine. And then it rolled down the street.

• 17:03Matt Farah?

Yeah, that was Sergio's son driving that thing.

• 17:06Speaker 01

  That's so cool.

• 17:06Matt Farah?

Yeah, you have to be very young to drive something like, he's like, yeah, in his twenties.

• 17:11Speaker 01

Right, no back problems. You're like, I'm invincible.

• 17:14Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah, for sure. Sergio was in that, the XKE, which was exceptional.

• 17:21Matt Farah?

And, yeah, everybody came, they had guisados burritos, which were so fucking good, and and Cory comes into my house. Hannah was setting up outside with all this shit and wouldn't let me come outside or look outside until 8 a.m. But I was up at like 6. So the whole, I'm up the whole time, they're setting everything up.

• 17:41Speaker 01

Did you know things were being set up and she just said, "Don't go outside"?

• 17:43Matt Farah?

She said, "You can't go outside."

• 17:44Speaker 01

  Oh, that's fun, okay.

• 17:45Matt Farah?

And like, you know, in my house, like, I've got that, like, reed glass, which, like, I can see, like, lots of motion outside, and I can clearly hear things being set up. And at one point, I was hearing like an impact wrench, like, I don't, I was like, I thought there was like a pit stop happening out there. I don't know what the fuck is going on. Then, I start

• 18:07Matt Farah?

hearing cars. And even though LA is like, there's always cars, I live on a very quiet street, and a car going by is a rare thing. So, to start hearing cars on a Sunday morning at 8 a.m. would be very unusual. Especially, like, hearing like, "Oh, that's like a flat 6." I can hear like, "Oh, that, wait, no, that's like an inline 6 with carburetors." Like, that's, that, that's a turbo, you know, whatever is in this Mini. And on and on, like, "Oh, that's, that's an interesting engine." And Hannah came back inside, I was like, is there cars and coffee or something happening outside? Like, I actually, I've guessed it a couple.

• 18:49Speaker 01

  That's amazing.

• 18:49Matt Farah?

And, uh, she was like, go find out. So, yes, there was.

• 18:53Speaker 01

  That's so cool.

• 18:54Matt Farah?

Lots of people in my driveway. Except Cory was the first person to come in, and he goes, here's your mimosa at like 7:40. And I'd figured something was going on and that somebody was here. So here's Cory. I'm like, oh, so I guess I'm like drinking like before 8 a.m. Like, this is, that's pretty hardcore. All right, let's go. And, uh, I was like, if there's a, when I found out the cars and coffee, I'm like, Hannah, people don't usually drink.

• 19:22Speaker 01

  That's true. But people did.

• 19:25Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 19:25Speaker 01

I saw, I saw a lot of people had one, you know?

• 19:27Matt Farah?

People did, yeah. Well, a lot of, a lot of people who were there were also like my neighbors and, and like walked.

• 19:33Speaker 01

When I looked around and saw people I didn't know, I was like, probably neighbor.

• 19:36Matt Farah?

  Neighbors.

• 19:36Speaker 01

  Probably neighbor. Stroller, probably neighbor.

• 19:38Matt Farah?

  Uh, stroller, trainer.

• 19:40Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 19:41Matt Farah?

  That's my trainer.

• 19:42Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 19:42Matt Farah?

Yeah. Shout out, fit like Sean. Book him in L.A. Um, but, uh, yeah, good people, good times. And then, you know, going tonight, funky. The, uh, Evan Funky Restaurant, uh, that's the Felix guy.

• 19:56Speaker 01

Oh, you got a new restaurant?

• 19:58Matt Farah?

Yeah, there's an episode of Chef's Table about it. Uh, it's called funky. It's OG pasta stuff.

• 20:05Speaker 01

  Cool.

• 20:06Matt Farah?

  It's gonna be amazing.

• 20:06Speaker 01

  Very good.

• 20:07Matt Farah?

Um, but, uh, yeah, to everyone who participated in that ruse, cause I guess everyone knew about it.

• 20:13Speaker 01

I knew about it weeks ago.

• 20:14Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 20:15Speaker 01

It was challenging to not say, I'll see you Sunday.

• 20:17Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 20:18Speaker 01

Cause like when I left for my, for Palm Springs, I was like, all right, bye. And my, and my brain was like, don't say, see you Sunday. Don't do it. Yeah.

• 20:26Matt Farah?

Um, and Hannah had like stuff, stuff quotes hidden all over the house that even if I found, I wouldn't be able to associate with anything. She hid like bags of ice, like she hid a bag of ice in the freezer, like she didn't want you to see the bag of ice. I was like, how would I have been like, there's a bag of ice here and therefore there's a party at 8 o'clock in the morning?

• 20:48Speaker 01

You wouldn't have put the 8 a.m. together. You probably would have been like, it's winter time.

• 20:51Matt Farah?

  No.

• 20:51Speaker 01

  We have an ice machine.

• 20:54Matt Farah?

  No.

• 20:56Speaker 01

What was I gonna say? Oh, and I had it on my calendar for a while, but it just said like, but it was on Zach. My calendars are set up to like mirror each other.

• 21:04Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 21:04Speaker 01

So I don't miss things. But then when I put it on Zach Klapman, it got put on Zach the Smoking Tire. And I was like, I think Matt could see this calendar if he wanted to. I know you don't have it turned on.

• 21:13Matt Farah?

I don't have it turned on.

• 21:15Speaker 01

Nor would you, but I'm like, what if this is the week?

• 21:17Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 21:17Speaker 01

  That Farrah decides.

• 21:18Matt Farah?

I'm like, let me see what he's doing.

• 21:21Speaker 01

Activate to see, you know, to schedule something and it's like Matt's birthday party. And then I'm the one who gets killed by Hannah.

• 21:26Matt Farah?

Yeah. No, Hannah would have murdered. I think, I think on the invite, there were threats of violence.

• 21:32Speaker 01

It said, if you do that, I will kill you. It's like, if you tip Matt off. So I deleted it from my calendar and Sarah goes, are we not going to that anymore? I was like, no, no, we are, but we just can't, we can't tip our, show our cards.

• 21:43Matt Farah?

It was, and you know, of course, like Magnus and his Hannah, Hannah Elliott from Bloomberg, who also writes about cars. I only say his Hannah because I have my own Hannah.

• 21:54Speaker 01

  Right.

• 21:55Matt Farah?

You know, it's eight in the morning, but they show up dressed like, you know, they're going to like a fucking nighttime party. Cause that's just how they dress.

• 22:02Speaker 01

  That's how they dress.

• 22:03Matt Farah?

That's how they dress all the time, but it's still like, it's stark when I was in like a hoodie and flip flops.

• 22:10Speaker 01

  Yeah, very different, yeah.

• 22:11Matt Farah?

What's going on in my driveway right now?

• 22:13Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 22:14Matt Farah?

Good times though. Good fucking times. Also got the new, the new Road and Tracks out in print. I have four fucking stories in it. Four! So go buy that. Did you see that there's a Senna thing on Netflix? Folks, we gotta take a quick break from today's episode because Delete Me is supporting this one. We love them and they are back. Listen, has someone that you know, or maybe yourself, been a victim of identity theft or maybe harassed, stalked, doxed, right? Here's what my problem is. Robo calls. I hate them to the point where I picked up a real call today and I started with the line, are you a human?

• 22:59Matt Farah?

Which is something I've been conditioned to do because I have so many robo calls. Personal data is. out there on the internet for anyone to see and more than you think your name and contact info, social security number, home address, etc. Even member, even information about your family members are all being compiled by data brokers and sold online and they make a profit off it. Your data is a commodity. Anyone on the web can buy your private details, which can lead to identity theft, phishing attempts, harassment, spam, and more. But now you can protect your privacy with Delete Me. I used it. It was so easy. All I did

• 23:39Matt Farah?

was make an account, like same usual information, but then they started asking me very basic questions about my past, where I lived, where I worked, phone numbers, who I'm related to, where I went to school, and on and on. It took about 20 minutes. Then they went to work and I didn't hear from them for a couple of days. And then I got this email summary saying they found like a thousand bits of information. They, most of them could get automatically removed, but then there was a process where I had to go through and individually select about, I don't know, 20 or 25 different things, which was like, we found this. Are you related to this person? Is this phone number related to you? Is this

• 24:21Matt Farah?

address related to you? And it was yes, no, yes, no, yes, no. Took a few more minutes and then a couple of weeks later, I got another email, same kind of thing. And Delete Me, it's not just a one-time service. It's always working in the background, constantly monitoring and removing the personal information you don't want on the internet. Delete Me does all the hard work of wiping you and your family's personal information from data broker websites. So take control of your data. • 25:24Speaker 01

I heard about it at your party and, but it's a live action remake.

• 25:30Matt Farah?

It's a, it's a, it's a movie. It's a dramatization. Yes. And I of the, I've seen the first, watched the first three. And the, I mean, not that I'm a Senna historian, but I've read a bunch of stuff about Senna and seen the documentary.

• 25:50Matt Farah?

So I can't say if it's like how like perfectly factual, but it does do that movie thing where it's sort of neatly packages otherwise possibly slightly messy things in his life like in order to demonstrate that he's like a ladies man. They have him like interact with this person this way. That may or may not have been how he interacted, but they need a thing to show that he's like a ladies man.

• 26:16Speaker 01

  Gotcha.

• 26:16Matt Farah?

In order to show that he's like against the FIA and the rules, they need to show like this little snippet. Doesn't mean it's not entertaining and it doesn't mean that like so far it gets like the gist of what Senna's like about pretty well. Uh, yeah, I've seen the first three.

• 26:35Speaker 01

  What they.

• 26:35Matt Farah?

  Of six.

• 26:36Speaker 01

Episode four is called passion. So that might be about romance as well.

• 26:39Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 26:43Speaker 01

Well, I don't know. What did you think about it? Was it fun to see that story again? Cause we've watched the docs.

• 26:50Speaker 01

  So like this is.

• 26:51Matt Farah?

Like everything that is on Netflix and et cetera. Now it's streaming. They're doing, they're doing the thing on streaming that was happening on websites in like 2013. Remember when every website was a fucking slideshow to get clicks? Here's the 30 blah, blah, blah things and click through the slideshow, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Like clickbait in, in a page. That's what this is. This should be sort of like the documentary, you know, two to three hours. Could be one bit, maybe two bits, but it's like a three hours of good content.

• 27:28Speaker 01

  Right.

• 27:29Matt Farah?

And that it's, you know, six hours of content here doesn't necessarily make it like richer. There's a bunch of like extraneous shit in there too.

• 27:38Speaker 01

Well, there's a problem we talked about with the docs here, I think a month ago.

• 27:41Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 27:41Speaker 01

Where there should have been three episodes, but it was four.

• 27:44Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 27:44Speaker 01

Should have been two. But it was three.

• 27:46Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 27:46Speaker 01

And like the producer wants to sell more of larger product to Netflix. And they just stretch one thread longer than it needs to be.

• 27:53Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 27:54Speaker 01

So, okay, that can be annoying.

• 27:56Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 27:56Speaker 01

If it's well, like, did, you know, are, like, is the driving all CGI? Or is there some practical, like, does it give you that?

• 28:02Matt Farah?

It's a, it's a mixture. It's, uh, it's largely practical driving, like some background stuff is CG. It isn't exactly like Ford versus Ferrari level of, of production.

• 28:17Speaker 01

  Is it better than driven?

• 28:19Matt Farah?

Well, it's like, because it's done like a lot of like car to car stuff. It's done like slightly, it's slower than race pace in a lot of ways. So it's like a good like movie pace, but it's not necessarily like the full Hollywood, you know, level of excitement.

• 28:39Speaker 01

Do they do that thing where the cars are close for car to car? But the car that was looking to pass is constantly moving left and right to check? And in real F1, they stay in the slipstream until they have their moment, really?

• 28:51Matt Farah?

  Pretty much.

• 28:51Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 28:51Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 28:53Speaker 01

Yeah, you see that, I think, oh, he's taking a look, oh, there, you, you have to communicate an urgency to get past. But you can't do that just showing a driver's helmet not moving, you know, a furrowed brow.

• 29:03Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 29:03Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 29:04Matt Farah?

Uh, and they also do this thing where they recreate, uh, exact like interviews that he's done. Like the real Senna interviews, like that appear in the documentary Senna. They recreate those scenes exactly with actors. I think in an effect, I mean, they're good. The reason those scenes ended up in the documentary in the first place is because they're good representations of something that the filmmaker is trying to get across. And so they serve the same purpose in this reenacted version. But I think they're also trying to use them to be like, see how close we are to the real thing?

• 29:41Speaker 01

  Hmm.

• 29:41Matt Farah?

  You know?

• 29:42Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 29:42Matt Farah?

And it makes you think the rest of it is, if you've seen the real interview and you go, okay, let's see how close they get to this interview bit. Cause I know what the real one was. I've seen that movie a bunch. But if you're interested in Senna or F1 at all, like, yeah, I guess it's worth your time. It's a thing to watch.

• 30:05Speaker 01

It's a car thing to watch.

• 30:06Matt Farah?

It's a car thing to watch. I haven't so far learned a whole lot that's like new about Ayrton Senna.

• 30:12Speaker 01

Right. I mean, Senna, the doc is an amazing documentary, even if you're not into F1. And if you're into cars, then it's obviously that much better. It's just well constructed. I never watched, did you watch the animated series Lucky that was all about, um, uh, oh my god. The guy that was president of Formula One for like thirty, Bernie Ecclestone.

• 30:31Matt Farah?

  Oh, oh, an animated series?

• 30:34Speaker 01

Yeah, it was written and produced by the same guy who wrote Senna, the doc.

• 30:39Matt Farah?

  Oh, really?

• 30:40Speaker 01

Manish Pandey, I think. He's on Chris's podcast.

• 30:43Matt Farah?

Yeah, he's friends with Chris, yeah.

• 30:43Speaker 01

Yeah, he did that, which is supposed to be very good, but it was like locked behind like a Paramount Disney Plus thing when it was out. And I just wasn't gonna subscribe just to watch that.

• 30:52Matt Farah?

I'm sure we could probably fuckin' hit some.

• 30:54Speaker 01

  Manish, we know you're listening.

• 30:55Matt Farah?

  Hit somebody up.

• 30:56Speaker 01

  This is your favorite show.

• 30:57Matt Farah?

  Shady ass copy. For critiquing.

• 31:01Speaker 01

Ask Chris, like, hey, can you send us?

• 31:02Matt Farah?

  Critiquing purposes, yeah.

• 31:03Speaker 01

Send us an MP4 through iMessage.

• 31:07Matt Farah?

  WhatsApp me.

• 31:08Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 31:10Matt Farah?

I apparently am like the only person who doesn't use WhatsApp. I have it, like, it exists, but I never check it. And people like hit me up on it and like I look at it like once a month and I'm, and I just... I guess everyone else in the entire planet uses it except me, pretty much.

• 31:28Speaker 01

It's really popular outside the US. A lot of press launches, they've added me two things for that. And, but I've only used it in the US with improv friends because it was the easiest, it's way better. The system is easier to add and remove people who are not on iPhone. Like, if you start a group chat on iPhone and someone's on Android, if you don't add them in the beginning, they cannot get in. This is a boat that leaves the harbor. So that's dumb. So WhatsApp is way better at that. So we'll use it for that. But otherwise, yeah, I check it and I go, oh, spam from China.

• 32:00Matt Farah?

But then occasionally, it's like, oh, Phil from England.

• 32:03Speaker 01

  Right.

• 32:03Matt Farah?

Sorry, Phil, if you're out there, because that's the example, is very true. Like, Phil will hit me up like two weeks later, I'll be like, oh shit, sorry.

• 32:13Matt Farah?

I didn't, we never talked about the electric G-Wagon, which I took off-roading. I, uh, yeah, this was right before I left and there are photos and the spinny thing, that's the spin. Of course, you have to have the spinny thing. Just, that could just be your like screensaver indefinitely, just spinning G-Wagon. Mercedes should have a little spinning G-Wagon screensaver. That'd be a good fun like accessory. Um, I have to say that I very much liked the electric G-Wagon. I thought it's, it made a great, uh, city vehicle. It looks basically, other than the non-spare tire, spare tire that holds a, that thing is dumb.

• 32:57Matt Farah?

Um, especially if you're gonna go off-roading. You do want a spare tire and I didn't have one. Um, but, uh, in the city, you know, small footprint, upright, easy to see the corners of the vehicle, really easy to park. Great visibility. Um, I didn't miss the gas engine at all. Uh, the smoothness, this is really, it's really too fast probably. It's got a lot of power for something that's that heavy. Um, and it really does feel exactly like a G-Wagon that's electric. Which is nice, you know, very easy to adjust the recuperation with the steering wheel paddles and

• 33:39Matt Farah?

uh, the one pedal drive works really nice if you've turned it up and it's, it's pretty much exactly what I would want an electric G-Wagon to be and you gotta turn, you gotta, the fake sound, which they call G-Roar, G dash R-O-A-R. Um, you gotta turn that off because it's just no good. Imagine a synthesized twin turbo V8 like the old car used, but mated to a CVT.

• 34:09Speaker 01

Ooh, yeah. Oh, right. So it's never shifted.

• 34:15Matt Farah?

Awful. Just get rid of it. Embrace that you're in the electric one. Um, but it's, it's gonna be funny where the level of like D-baggery crosses over. If G-Wagon D-B, D-baggery and Tesla D-baggery intersect.

• 34:33Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 34:33Matt Farah?

You know, they've really, they've crossed the streams.

• 34:35Speaker 01

  I bet they...

• 34:38Speaker 01

I think a lot of people would sell their Cybertruck for this and make that change. You know, like you've done the Cybertruck thing, you've been the meme, but if you don't like some of its compromises, because some of like, politics aside, like, it's not great at being a pickup truck in a bunch of ways, and this is a better people carrier in some ways, then I could see people making this shit.

• 34:59Matt Farah?

You know what, I'm gonna stop you there, buddy. It's not a better people carrier, in the very literal sense of the word, like, a Cybertruck's a piece of shit, but, excuse me, in terms of, like, can you fit five people? A Cybertruck can better than this. The rear seat room in G-Wagons is not good. So I mean, the literal sense.

• 35:21Speaker 01

  That's fair.

• 35:22Matt Farah?

If you're carrying around five adults regularly, you don't want any G-Wagon. But, the electric one, it's a little worse. The battery in the floor, it raises the floor up a little bit, and it's like, just, just enough difference in legroom that I like, really noticed it, that I couldn't like, straighten my legs.

• 35:44Speaker 01

In the front seat or backseat?

• 35:45Matt Farah?

In the front seat, with the driver's seat all the way down, all the way back, I couldn't straighten my legs quite enough, whereas I could in the other car. But, off-roading, what an animal. The best. Absolutely, some of the, the most pleasant off-roading I've ever done, I mean, I'd have to go, I mean, pretty, it's gonna be pretty good, we've got, I did that, we've got the Enios outside now, we can do that, and then we have the new Tri-Motor Rivian next week. So, we can go, we can go pretty close, but like, it's hard to say if this versus Rivian, whatever, but, four motors, really just, super, super, super capable.

• 36:33Matt Farah?

I did bottom, like high center, sort of bottom out, just a little, just one of these, just a

• 36:40Matt Farah?

but that was it. And this was on like, street, street tires. I dropped them by like 10 PSI. Because I didn't want to have a flat up there. But we did, me and Timmy went up there. And we did the hardest section possible with each of the choice things, because that's what Johnny said to do. And it was like aces, just so good.

• 37:05Speaker 01

Control with electric cars, it makes it, it makes it a lot easier to go off roading. It makes it easier to ascend things because you have such precise control over the wheels and so much strength right off of idle. There's none of that, get the turbo spooled, like the, the ZR2 Canyon I drove, like great off road truck. But you still have that moment of hesitation where you have to add throttle. It starts sending the power to the rear end, it starts to twist the wheel and the tire, and then it grips up. And this is like, as you're talking, this reminds me, this will sound weird, but off roading electric vehicles reminds me of walking.

• 37:41Matt Farah?

  Yeah, no, it's totally true.

• 37:44Speaker 01

Like the control you have over your footing.

• 37:46Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 37:47Speaker 01

And also the silence and like the immediate forward movement.

• 37:50Matt Farah?

Well, that was the best. We did, you know, we did all of the, the Rower Trail, you know, with the windows down. Because I love the silence of electric off roading. Walking is probably the most concise description of it I've heard. That's what it feels like. With this thing, even on those tires.

• 38:10Matt Farah?

There was, you know, the, the, you know, think of the, the sound of off roading. Think of the sound of little bits of slip under the wheels, that like, kind of like grindy noise against dirt. Crunchy, grindy noise. There was less of that.

• 38:27Matt Farah?

than any car I've ever driven up the hill. Like, there was never these, those little bits of the tire slips and then catches, slips and then catches that that happens in all off-roading, even with like very good traction control. This was like, it wasn't just like one to one with like throttle to wheel motion. It that it that then went further to ground. Like pedal to ground, there was no like

• 38:56Matt Farah?

it was just like up. It was like pretty amazing, except for one spot that was very steep uphill and deep loose sand where that was like, I mean, the I had to where we had to back up for four feet and then take a slightly different line. But even that, I think was like, just that these tires don't work on loose sand, especially when it's steep.

• 39:20Speaker 01

  Yeah, these are street tires.

• 39:21Matt Farah?

They're street tires. So like, I think if you had the right tire, it would it would have done that too. But it was, uh, it's extremely inefficient on the highway because it's a fucking cube.

• 39:34Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 39:35Matt Farah?

In the city, totally fine in low speeds, you know, suburban type speeds. Totally fine, reasonably efficient highway speeds.

• 39:45Speaker 01

Did you have to charge after off-roading before coming back to LA or did you make?

• 39:49Matt Farah?

No, I went, uh, oh shit. Okay, so I, I, I left the house at a hun- to go to Rower. Can you look up? Just to just use, don't use my house, use here to Rower because it's as close as makes no difference. Here, there, so it took sixty-five percent, excuse me, that's wrong. Took thirty-five percent, the opposite, to get from here with a full charge to the base of that hill. Now that has some elevation, it's got some couple like sort of windy mountain passes to cross. But just tell me how many miles it is. You don't have to like show the route.

• 40:27Speaker 01

  Forty-five.

• 40:27Matt Farah?

Okay, so it took, it took.

• 40:32Matt Farah?

It used thirty-five of its of its percentage points to go forty-five miles.

• 40:40Speaker 01

  Oof, geez.

• 40:42Matt Farah?

  That's

• 40:42Speaker 01

That is an effective range of one thirty-five.

• 40:44Matt Farah?

That is not good, right? Okay, so I was, as we were going up the hill, I was like, dude, you know, that math isn't great, you know, so, okay, but, but there was, but it is uphill. There's an elevation change there. It's not insignificant. So, okay, fine. So, we go from the, the trail itself is about seven miles, which is, doesn't sound that long, but like you're going like two to three miles an hour for a decent amount of it.

• 41:18Matt Farah?

It's about an hour up. And, uh, and so from there, we went from sixty-five percent battery to fifty-five percent battery. So, ten percent to get up the trail, but I was like, okay, we're now at the top, we're gonna turn around and go back home. We have fifty-five percent, so I'm pretty confident we're gonna make it. It's not gonna be a problem. I recouped four percent going back down the trail. So, when we got down to the bottom of the trail, we were back to fifty-nine percent. And then, as it was downhill, getting home,

• 41:51Speaker 01

  Right.

• 41:52Matt Farah?

we were much more efficient and I got home with like forty percent or something charged. So, ultimately, it was fine, but it was, but when I left the house in the morning with like full charge, not that cold, it said like two forty-five miles to empty. And so, when I blew through thirty-five percent charge in forty-five miles, I was like, yo, you are a liar. You are lying to me. That's crazy how much you're lying to me right now. But, uh, it turned out to be fine. I do not recommend this as a highway road trip vehicle. Um, it's just, it's, it's, it's not, it defeats the purpose of the thing.

• 42:34Speaker 01

  Right.

• 42:34Matt Farah?

But as a city car, especially if you're under six feet tall and won't notice the couple inches of floor. Um, so nice. It's so nice. I liked it a lot.

• 42:43Speaker 01

It's a very expensive golf cart because it's like a city vehicle. Because there's a reason Lucids are shaped the way they are and their CFD is so low.

• 42:51Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 42:51Speaker 01

This is not shaped like that.

• 42:52Matt Farah?

  No.

• 42:53Speaker 01

But, but I think it's cool because, I mean, you know, the long, long tail emissions, all the other things, blah, blah. I don't want to get into the math, but like if you're just going to look for an EV, like I like the size of this, the maneuverability of the G-Wagon in the city. It's very small.

• 43:07Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 43:07Speaker 01

Like it's short, so it's easy to turn and park. And, all right, then you're not just firing up a V8 to drive around town.

• 43:14Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 43:14Speaker 01

A lot of people do that here.

• 43:15Matt Farah?

Yeah, I mean, versus driving an AMG, you know, G-Wagon, which is the most inefficient passenger car that Mercedes sells.

• 43:24Speaker 01

What, didn't we see it was the most, one of the most inefficient?

• 43:27Matt Farah?

  On the planet.

• 43:27Speaker 01

  Sold on the planet.

• 43:28Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 43:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 43:29Matt Farah?

So by, by moving away from that, and this thing drives really good. And for most people, they don't need to go, it's probably legit, it's probably like a 200 mile range. If you're not going up and down a big hill and whatever.

• 43:47Matt Farah?

I really liked it. I, I, it's a, I think most people obviously are not going to go off-roading with it, which is a shame because it's exceptional at it. Really exceptional.

• 44:00Matt Farah?

And it really made me be like, okay, if I got Ali's like Range trailer and I could like tow that with the G-Wagon. And then maybe have like a, like a Can-Am or one of those like on the trailer. You could like recharge the G-Wagon also from the trailer while you're.

• 44:21Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 44:21Matt Farah?

There's probably some math for that.

• 44:23Speaker 01

Right. You'd have, you'd have a extended range.

• 44:25Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 44:26Speaker 01

Still limited, of course, but yeah, maybe.

• 44:28Matt Farah?

  I don't know.

• 44:28Speaker 01

The question is, can you go from LA to a, I mean, you could go to Rower, but could you go out to like Ocatillo Wells?

• 44:34Matt Farah?

  I think.

• 44:34Speaker 01

Or like Johnson Valley, somewhere you can go fast in a Can-Am.

• 44:38Matt Farah?

Yeah, I mean, it's, it's, you could probably get to, um, oh, how far is Moha, well, Mojave? You have to charge up again in Mojave and then go out to Jawbone, but it's just a, it's a bummer because it's so good off-road. But most people won't be able to, although a ski house maybe, some snow tires on it'd be a fucking boss move.

• 45:00Speaker 01

  Really good in the snow.

• 45:01Matt Farah?

  In the snow, you know?

• 45:02Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 45:03Matt Farah?

At your vacation house, whatever. It was expensive. It was 190 grand, this one.

• 45:09Matt Farah?

But it but it was it it delivers on the things that I want from a G-Wagon. And it fixes one of the biggest problems about G-Wagons mainly that a giant V8 to make that thing go really fast off the line is not even the best way to go really fast off the line.

• 45:30Speaker 01

Yeah. It's funny that it's still inefficient, but at least it's

• 45:34Matt Farah?

Well, the shape, efficiency comes from the the powertrain and also the shape, right? The powertrain makes the difference below aerodynamic real speeds. And then on the highway, it's about your shape and and, you know, all that kind of stuff. But your gearing or blah, blah, blah. But, uh, yeah, inefficient still, but a good G-Wagon. But that square thing on the back, like, that, I see what they're doing. They want to make it look different in any way they can. And rather than having a spare tire, it's got this, the this thing where the spare tire would go that's a square, a rounded square. It's like, let's call it an apple square. Like, it looks like a case of AirPods.

• 46:19Speaker 01

  Yeah, pillow. Yeah, AirPods.

• 46:20Matt Farah?

AirPod case, right? And you open it horizontally and in it

• 46:26Speaker 01

  Is a gas engine.

• 46:27Matt Farah?

Yeah, is a pouch with the 110 cable, the portable charge cable. The pouch takes up maybe 40% of the area of that thing.

• 46:38Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 46:39Matt Farah?

And that's all that's in it. Now, I get it that maybe they wanted to try to trim weight somehow by not having a big heavy spare tire. I get it if they wanted a place to put the charge cable that isn't inside the trunk. I get it if they wanted to just make it look visually different. But like, it, that's a big box on the back to hold a small thing that most people don't need to be carrying with them most of the time. And going off-road with no spare tire is sketchy.

• 47:14Matt Farah?

It sketched me out. I was worried about blowing a tire. I would have, I would have felt a lot better if it had a tire on it.

• 47:21Speaker 01

  I want, but-

• 47:22Matt Farah?

  Maybe it's an option.

• 47:23Speaker 01

I wonder if they did market research and went, "Most people would rather bring this cable than go, than will go off-road in this." I mean, the number of people that will offer these things is so small. But it also, I remember the G wagons, the trunk space isn't that big.

• 47:35Matt Farah?

  No, it's not.

• 47:36Speaker 01

It's a pretty short space. Tall but narrow. It's like a book. So, moving that cable to the outside, it kind of helps the luggage space a bit.

• 47:43Matt Farah?

A little bit of space, yeah. But it's-

• 47:46Speaker 01

  I get it.

• 47:47Matt Farah?

It's, and if you're not going off-road, then fine, whatever.

• 47:50Speaker 01

When you're up there, you go, "I really wish I had a tire, cuz we're fucked if we don't, if we pop this." Yeah, totally.

• 47:57Matt Farah?

Uh, the Aeneos has a full-size spare in the bed. It's the pickup.

• 48:02Speaker 01

Yeah, it's got a roll bar, too.

• 48:04Matt Farah?

It's aggressive. It's, it's really, uh, but, uh, we'll get to that in a second, but, uh, no, I, but this G wagon, it, it, it had a lot of charm to it. Um, literally zero people was like, "Oh, is that the electric G wagon?" Like, no one cares if it's electric, but it is, it is actually, uh, very, very nice to drive. And the axis spins are pretty fucking rad. Um, they're, they're, that's a good party trick.

• 48:32Speaker 01

It is a good trick. If it's wet on the ground, or if you're in the dirt, it's pretty rad.

• 48:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah, it's a good time.

• 48:37Speaker 01

It moves forward like one foot. When you did it in the wet, it moved forward like one foot.

• 48:43Matt Farah?

Yeah. Um, and then in the dirt, it really didn't move forward at all. Uh, I think you're really always supposed to do it in the dirt, but it was raining. It was, I had a, I had a literal empty parking lot, and it was raining. How could I not?

• 48:57Speaker 01

I have said that to police officers before. You know, what do, what do you expect us to do, sir? Get out of here.

• 49:03Matt Farah?

  Even Hannah enjoyed that.

• 49:05Speaker 01

  Really?

• 49:06Matt Farah?

Hannah was like, "Is this gonna make me throw up?" I was like, "I don't think so."

• 49:08Speaker 01

  Maybe.

• 49:09Matt Farah?

No, it did, it didn't. But by the end of, uh, after I did two, she was like, "That, that two was good."

• 49:15Speaker 01

And then you goose it out, and everyone, that, that actually wowed people a lot.

• 49:18Matt Farah?

  Really?

• 49:19Speaker 01

Because the acceleration was ridiculous, and it was silent. It just went, "Boop!", and it took off, yeah.

• 49:25Matt Farah?

Uh, you could really yump that exit of that driveway, too.

• 49:28Speaker 01

It would be bad if you did.

• 49:29Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 49:29Speaker 01

Landing would be, uh, everyone would celebrate, and then call the police or the ambulance.

• 49:34Matt Farah?

Yeah. Um, but first impressions real quick of the Aeneos. Uh, I've driven it six miles.

• 49:41Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 49:42Matt Farah?

I drove it. No, probably more than that. I drove it to South Bay and then I drove it here. That's what I've done. Um, it is, uh, it, it definitely has the, the vibe you want. If the vibe, if you want the old, the, the, the, the old Defender vibe without dealing with an old Defender.

• 50:02Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 50:03Matt Farah?

Got it. Check, check the box. It's, uh, it's basically right there. Um, and, uh, it's, it's got this, the, the, the, the aircraft panels are so great. Visibility is great. Pop hatch is fantastic.

• 50:23Speaker 01

Can you read the buttons and the controls well enough? In the early ones, they, like Andrew Frankel said, the font was very small. On a lot of these controls, and there are many of them, so you need to know what they do.

• 50:33Matt Farah?

The font wasn't the problem, but the car was parked in front of my house and it's pretty sunny out today. It's a lovely day. And the, when you press the button to turn something on, there's a very small red LED to indicate whether the function is on or not. In sun, those are really hard to see. So I, a couple of times I had to shade it.

• 50:54Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 50:55Matt Farah?

And go, is that on or not? Um, the, uh, real quick, in the city, ride, exceptional. Nailed the ride. Beautiful. The steering is, uh, uh, like

• 51:13Matt Farah?

  rental U-Haul.

• 51:15Speaker 01

  Wow. Loose?

• 51:17Matt Farah?

Really bad. It's really bad. It's not good. Yeah, not good.

• 51:21Speaker 01

  True to the Defender name.

• 51:22Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. If you're, if you want to cosplay Old Defender though, this, you're in this, you're in the game. Yeah. Think, think like Jeep, JK.

• 51:31Speaker 01

Play? So there's play in the wheel?

• 51:33Matt Farah?

Play and, uh, lots of turns, lots of turns and lots of having to unwind. It doesn't, it doesn't unwind like in, in a way that's like quick.

• 51:44Speaker 01

  You need a spinner knob.

• 51:45Matt Farah?

It would be good with a spinner knob. Um, but. The vibe, pretty exceptional, uh, so far. We'll have a lot more to talk about.

• 51:56Speaker 01

Yeah, I'm gonna drive it this week, too.

• 51:58Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 51:59Speaker 01

It really sounds like they really nailed the Defender cosplay, cuz it doesn't drive great.

• 52:02Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 52:03Speaker 01

But it sounds like it rides better than the Defender. The Defender did not ride well.

• 52:06Matt Farah?

Well, it's like, it's funny cuz I also drove this 4Runner.

• 52:09Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 52:10Matt Farah?

So, it's like, alright, so there is clearly a market for people who want a car that feels like it was built 10 years ago. Cuz it basically is the same car that was built, to be built 10 years ago. And so there's a mar- so there's clearly a market for that. This guy, who started Enios, as we learned, like, I'm sure, like, he wants to build a car that people, but he, I don't know how well he... How big the market actually is for people that wanna like, do that vibe, that, that much. Um, cuz there are like, some, some reasons that when Land Rover wanted to do, bring back the name Defender, that they didn't do this.

• 52:52Speaker 01

Yeah, very true. And there's also reasons why other cars were successful in pulling market share away from Land Rover.

• 52:59Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 52:59Speaker 01

You know, they, and also why Jeep has tried with every generation to refine things like steering and highway manners, because it's a complaint that people have, you know?

• 53:09Matt Farah?

And so far, I'm not entirely sure why I would, I haven't, I don't have an MSRP for the one we're driving. I think it's got quite a bit of options on it, but even looking at the website right now, the base price is 86.9. That's like Bronco Raptor wheelhouse, and I think, you know, for that type of money, I think I might, so far, I might be on that type of vibe, just... Honestly, just cuz of the steering, like, even when we first drove the new Bronco, like, the regular one, and it was like, oh, rack and pinion steering! There's a reason, like, we use this now on stuff, instead of the recirculating ball steering.

• 53:54Speaker 01

Do you think, uh, that this...

• 54:00Speaker 01

Like, there's an overlap maybe in the market of Bronco Raptor in this.

• 54:04Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 54:04Speaker 01

But I don't think it's a circle. Do you think this attracts people that would look at Bronco Raptor? Like, it's a very bro-y truck.

• 54:12Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 54:12Speaker 01

And with that comes whatever assumptions people have or, you know, that are watching someone drive that truck.

• 54:19Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 54:19Speaker 01

So, do you think that this is the vinyl record alternative to that?

• 54:24Matt Farah?

  This is very much a...

• 54:26Speaker 01

  The Royal Enfield.

• 54:26Matt Farah?

Royal Enfield, Triumph Bonneville, vinyl record, Leica Camera. It's that crowd, which is fine. And I think that for 86 grand, or let's call it 95, whatever you're gonna buy from Mercedes, BMW, or Porsche, or any European SUV maker, is pretty much not going to be as rugged as this.

• 54:57Speaker 01

  Right.

• 54:58Matt Farah?

And there is a global market for people who want rugged. They want manual switches and knobs. Like, I totally get it's really nice to drive a car where the only thing on the screen is my little fucking CarPlay, you know, with where I'm going. And everything else is just a knob with a light on it? Like, that's pretty sweet. I'm so excited to drive this thing at night. My eyes are gonna be like, "Ohhh."

• 55:26Speaker 01

Yeah, to get a break from contrast adjustment.

• 55:28Matt Farah?

You know? But, and there's people that will not mind the steering at all. Oh, here's another thing. You have to turn the ADAS shit off every time you start it, which she said. But it's fucking...

• 55:42Speaker 01

  European car.

• 55:42Matt Farah?

...deep in the menu. Deep, deep in the menus. I did it... So, maybe there's a faster way to do it. Maybe I don't have to turn off all of them. But it, so far, it takes me about 90 seconds to turn them all off. It's a lot.

• 55:57Speaker 01

I'm wondering if there's a law that the ADAS can't be too easy to disable.

• 56:01Matt Farah?

  I cannot believe that.

• 56:05Speaker 01

David Tuig, I know you're listening. Let us know if that was something you had to deal with at Alpine.

• 56:09Matt Farah?

Yeah, it's tough. That would be, so far, I've only had to do it twice. But it's a pretty tough thing to live with.

• 56:19Speaker 01

Well, you think that's hard. I stumbled on a Reddit post. How to deactivate ADAS in BYD cars. You have to open a fuse box and take a fuse clip out that's labeled ADAS.

• 56:30Matt Farah?

You can pull the fuse on ADAS?

• 56:32Speaker 01

This one says the BYD ADAS is dangerous. But this is one Reddit post.

• 56:37Matt Farah?

That's a boss move. You think there's a fuse labeled ADAS?

• 56:41Speaker 01

Probably. I don't know if you label, but like, look, whatever sensors talk to it.

• 56:46Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 56:47Speaker 01

Have to run through a fuse, right? So if you pull fuse for... Now, the question is, do they bundle that fuse with other things you like to use? Because that's one of the funny things you discover when you blow a fuse in a car.

• 56:58Matt Farah?

  What it's connected to?

• 56:59Speaker 01

Yeah, I was trying to fix Sarah's

• 57:01Matt Farah?

  House, too.

• 57:02Speaker 01

Headlight or something. And I just say, I pulled one fuse and it was radio, CD, and power locks. And I went, hold the fuck on. Like, the drawbridge control is the same as the bell on top of the tower. Like, what are we doing? One is important, one is just for fun.

• 57:16Matt Farah?

  That's pretty funny.

• 57:17Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 57:18Matt Farah?

We had, I've had that at the house, too, where like, I had a thing. There's a wall of the house. And like, there's a set of outlets on the inside of the wall, a set of outlets on the outside of the wall. You don't immediately understand that those two things are connected, because one is like, outside.

• 57:34Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 57:35Matt Farah?

And you're like, this is the kitchen, what are you talking about? And like, that thing over there is also on that circuit?

• 57:39Speaker 01

So if you plug too many things in outside, you can't plug things in the kitchen?

• 57:41Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 57:42Speaker 01

Yeah, I wouldn't expect that either.

• 57:43Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 57:46Matt Farah?

Right. We have, we're going to go off-roading in the Eneos. I have, I had to get, I got some instructions. Because it's, you know, the stuff in it is like, it's like a car from... 25 or 30 years ago, so it's the manual lever for this and you have to do the thing while doing the thing. It's like it's not, it's not, you know, press a button and you're in the mode.

• 58:14Speaker 01

Do you have to lock the hubs?

• 58:16Matt Farah?

You don't have to get out of the car to lock the hubs, no. It's got locking diffs, and it's got high and low range, but it's all manual process, which if you're used to off-roading like old ass vehicles, it's totally normal thing. But if you're not, so I have done it with older cars, but they still, you know, there was a tutorial.

• 58:37Speaker 01

I don't mind a refresher. It's been a long time since I slowed down and pulled four-wheel drive and like, which miles per hour do I have to go so I don't burn this thing, you know, everything out?

• 58:45Matt Farah?

Yeah, well, the transfer case, you have to come to a stop and put it in neutral, but the diffs, you want to do while rolling slowly.

• 58:54Speaker 01

Dude, in 94, 95, when we got, my family got a Grand Cherokee, and we no longer had to stop to lock the hubs in the Scout, like on the way to skiing, it was life-changing. Like as a kid, I was like, wait a minute, we can just keep going and you pull a lever? Holy shit, this changes everything. Incredible.

• 59:12Matt Farah?

When I had the H1 Hummer, one of the cooler things about it, it had, you know, it had central tire inflation, which was unbelievable. I mean, it was like noisy, you know, and you didn't want to do it really while driving.

• 59:24Speaker 01

How often did you do that? How often did you do it to help yourself, not just to show it off?

• 59:31Matt Farah?

Oh. Well, because, I mean, think about how gnarly anything needs to be in a Hummer for you to need to air down. You're already at the 95th percentile of off-roading at that point.

• 59:44Speaker 01

Totally. I was just curious when you said it a bunch of times, yeah.

• 59:46Matt Farah?

No, just to show people. And you know, I had the car in winter, from a winter into a summer, so I had, I used it to adjust the tire pressures and, you know, whatnot.

• 59:56Speaker 01

Yeah. Saw a black H1 Hummer today parked in front of a collision center, like as a promo vehicle.

• 1:00:01Matt Farah?

  Oh, really?

• 1:00:02Speaker 01

It's wild how big they look, even though I know that they're like the size of a Bronco Raptor. Just the way the proportions look, they look humongous.

• 1:00:09Matt Farah?

Yeah, the proportions are very weird in those things. Yeah, and they're just not great to drive. But I am excited to take the, to take the Enios out, because like off-roading, like I have grown to really love. Easy off-roading. I don't mean, I don't mean easy obstacles. I mean, I like when a car, unlike on a road or a track, I like where an off-road car really makes me just be able to relax, point the car, get up the thing and enjoy kind of the journey to wherever I'm going.

• 1:00:40Speaker 01

  I agree. Yeah, it's fun.

• 1:00:41Matt Farah?

There's people that really love working at that, at that off-road.

• 1:00:46Speaker 01

Well, some people will want to winch.

• 1:00:47Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:48Speaker 01

You know, that's the, that's that degree.

• 1:00:49Matt Farah?

Ineos has a winch. It comes with it.

• 1:00:52Speaker 01

  That's for somebody.

• 1:00:53Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:00:54Speaker 01

I'll do it one day because I have to, but I don't want to enter the event where you have to winch your way across the bog and it's like a timed competition. That's not for me.

• 1:01:03Matt Farah?

Well, we might be going to King of the Hammers.

• 1:01:05Speaker 01

  Yay!

• 1:01:06Matt Farah?

In February. Ford invited us out there.

• 1:01:09Speaker 01

  We should say yes.

• 1:01:09Matt Farah?

They said they would set us up. Uh, I don't know where we'd be sleeping.

• 1:01:15Speaker 01

  Whatever.

• 1:01:15Matt Farah?

Somewhere, whatever, as long as it's somewhere.

• 1:01:18Speaker 01

As long as it's out of the way of where people drive at night after they have finished cooking their Bud Light. I'm fine. Like, I love that event so much.

• 1:01:26Matt Farah?

Yeah. So they said they would, they'd hook us up with either a Bronco Raptor or something. I mean, go out there for a couple of days, which does seem really fun. I've wanted to do that. So.

• 1:01:37Speaker 01

  Oh, you've never been.

• 1:01:38Matt Farah?

  I've never been.

• 1:01:39Speaker 01

I've only been once, but yeah. It's, oh man, I can't wait to see your face when you, at nighttime, you'll look out at a hill and you will just see a train of lights, like bright LEDs, and I'm talking like miles and miles away. All you see is the train of LEDs moving and shaking their way up. What you saw in the daytime is a gnarly rock crawl. So people will go out at night for fun.

• 1:02:01Matt Farah?

  Just for fun.

• 1:02:02Speaker 01

This is not the race. This is people for funsies, going out in their crazy contraptions and side by sides.

• 1:02:07Matt Farah?

And the percentage of these people that are wasted is?

• 1:02:10Speaker 01

  I don't know. I can't, I would not speculate.

• 1:02:12Matt Farah?

But I, but you have to say.

• 1:02:13Speaker 01

  It's non-zero.

• 1:02:14Matt Farah?

  You have to say it's a non-zero.

• 1:02:15Speaker 01

  Probably not zero.

• 1:02:16Matt Farah?

  It's not zero.

• 1:02:16Speaker 01

I don't, I don't, and look, people who are, who do this event a lot, maybe you can speak on that more in the comments, but it was, it blew my mind to see how much nighttime off-roading there was at such a. Uh, aggressive degree, no pun intended. I was like, that shit, like, I knew where they were cause I'd been there earlier in the day. And I was like, those people are out of their fucking mind. It's really cool.

• 1:02:37Matt Farah?

  Freedom's a hell of a drug.

• 1:02:39Speaker 01

It's rad, dude. And then the buggies, I mean, they're doing 120 miles an hour across the whoops. Then they go into the pit, they slow down, then they have to go and do five miles an hour up a rock wall. It's pretty crazy what those vehicles can do.

• 1:02:50Matt Farah?

Yeah, it seems awesome. I definitely want to go. What do I, what do you wear to this event?

• 1:02:55Speaker 01

  Everything.

• 1:02:56Matt Farah?

Just something that... Oh, cause it's like a 50 degree temperature swing, right?

• 1:03:01Speaker 01

Yeah, so daytime it's sunny, but there's like windstorms sometimes, it could be sandy, and then nighttime, you know, especially if you're, if we're just hanging out, walking around the pits, like, you'll be cold. It's like 30, 40 degrees, maybe worse. So bring down stuff.

• 1:03:14Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:03:15Speaker 01

  Puffy things.

• 1:03:15Matt Farah?

Okay. Yeah, that sounds like a fucking good time.

• 1:03:19Speaker 01

  Mm-hmm.

• 1:03:19Matt Farah?

And you bring whiskey and guns, right?

• 1:03:22Speaker 01

Whiskey for sure. I don't know if you're allowed to bring fire. I mean, I, I didn't hear anyone shooting a firearm.

• 1:03:27Matt Farah?

  Really?

• 1:03:28Speaker 01

Well, I don't, maybe way, way out someone is, but I don't think you're supposed to do that in Hammer Town. Like, that's not okay. It's not safe.

• 1:03:35Matt Farah?

Of course it's not safe. There's a big difference in safe and what's acceptable out there.

• 1:03:41Speaker 01

That's very true. I think in Hammer Town, right, right.

• 1:03:44Matt Farah?

  Didn't sound very safe.

• 1:03:45Speaker 01

Yeah, in Hammer Town, I don't think, I think you'd get kicked out right away.

• 1:03:48Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 1:03:48Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:03:50Matt Farah?

Not that I have any guns to bring, but I just thought...

• 1:03:52Speaker 01

I mean, I'm sure plenty of people there have them in their toolbox where they're concealed carry, you know, just in case Antifa shows up.

• 1:04:01Matt Farah?

Uh, okay, cool, cool. That leaves, that ends my, uh, ends my list of, my list of things.

• 1:04:08Speaker 01

  All right.

• 1:04:10Matt Farah?

I can't wait to have impressions of the ENEOS after driving. We also have, we're pretty stacked up, actually. We actually have the Explorer ST coming, which someone was like, hey, did you, did you know that the Explorer ST is rear-wheel drive architecture now and has a selectable diff that allows you to put in rear-wheel drive and drift it? I was like, I did not know that. Uh...

• 1:04:31Speaker 01

Where can we drift a Ford Explorer?

• 1:04:33Matt Farah?

I don't know, but we can find somewhere and, uh, it's coming on Wednesday.

• 1:04:37Speaker 01

If we go to Willow Springs or something, I don't know.

• 1:04:41Matt Farah?

No, I don't think so, not yet, but maybe.

• 1:04:44Speaker 01

  That'd be wild.

• 1:04:45Matt Farah?

Yeah, we could, we could figure it out.

• 1:04:49Matt Farah?

But, and then we have that Rivian, so we got some, and then I think we have the AMG GT sixty-three, the E Performance, the hybrid GT, which is supposed to be fucking rad, actually.

• 1:05:04Speaker 01

  Well, it'd be fast.

• 1:05:04Matt Farah?

  It'll be fast.

• 1:05:05Speaker 01

But, I mean, the other, the red one we had was great.

• 1:05:09Matt Farah?

  It was great.

• 1:05:09Speaker 01

I didn't really want for anything on that, so.

• 1:05:12Matt Farah?

Yeah, but I've just, I've heard nice things anyway.

• 1:05:14Speaker 01

  Alright.

• 1:05:15Matt Farah?

Could still be good, even if it's not the one that.

• 1:05:17Speaker 01

  That's a true point.

• 1:05:17Matt Farah?

  That we want.

• 1:05:18Speaker 01

I'm eating chocolate, by the way, because I didn't have caffeine today, because I had the doctor appointment.

• 1:05:22Matt Farah?

  Oh, fuck. Yeah.

• 1:05:25Speaker 01

I had to fast until one, and then.

• 1:05:27Matt Farah?

You fasted for an afternoon doctor's appointment? That sucks.

• 1:05:30Speaker 01

That was bad planning on my part. They're like, I don't need.

• 1:05:32Matt Farah?

You made that choice, Zach. Is this what it's like to be healthy instead of unhealthy? I know to make a doctor's appointment at eight thirty AM.

• 1:05:39Speaker 01

  I'm new to this.

• 1:05:40Matt Farah?

And then have, and then have some eggs right afterwards.

• 1:05:42Speaker 01

  I did not plan.

• 1:05:43Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah, yeah.

• 1:05:43Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:05:44Matt Farah?

That shit fucked me up, because remember I used to be super afraid of needles and I'd have, I'd have like no nutrients and like fucking faint?

• 1:05:51Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:05:52Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:05:52Speaker 01

It doesn't bother me. As long as I don't have to watch them do it.

• 1:05:55Matt Farah?

Now, that's kind of the move.

• 1:05:56Speaker 01

  If they miss.

• 1:05:58Matt Farah?

  The worst.

• 1:05:58Speaker 01

If they miss a while, for a while, then I'll puke, but.

• 1:06:01Matt Farah?

Well, that goes back to my childhood. I first got an IV when I was like ten for something, forget what it was. But it took them like nine tries, and I was, I was scarred after that. Stabbed up, not about it.

• 1:06:13Speaker 01

The bummer is, if I've eaten, like, I have a lot of veins right now, like, I'm doing pretty good because of climbing and stuff.

• 1:06:19Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:06:19Speaker 01

Easy. I'm easy mode for them.

• 1:06:21Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:06:22Speaker 01

But when they tell me to fast, my veins shrink. I'm like, well, now, you just made it harder for yourself.

• 1:06:25Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:06:26Speaker 01

They're like, your blood sugar, your blood pressure's really low. I go, yeah, I haven't eaten since ten PM last night.

• 1:06:32Matt Farah?

Yeah, you gotta, you gotta, yeah, you gotta go the eight AM move.

• 1:06:35Speaker 01

  I'm learning.

• 1:06:36Matt Farah?

That's it. Be there at open. Yeah.

• 1:06:39Speaker 01

  Waiting there.

• 1:06:40Matt Farah?

I've been, I've been, I've been there, because you know I'm like terminally early to everything, so I was there.

• 1:06:44Speaker 01

  Six AM anyway.

• 1:06:45Matt Farah?

Yeah, so I'm there, I'm there when the nurse shows up to unlock the fucking door.

• 1:06:49Speaker 01

You're just outside the doctor's house when he gets up, like, I'm, can I be here? Can we just do it real quick?

• 1:06:53Matt Farah?

I'll just, in the carpool lane, you know, I'll help get you there.

• 1:06:57Speaker 01

  I'll just ride with you.

• 1:06:58Matt Farah?

  I'll, I'll drive.

• 1:06:59Speaker 01

  You'll drive.

• 1:07:01Matt Farah?

  Shoot me up, let's go.

• 1:07:05Matt Farah?

Yeah, let's go to the Patreon. You guys are the best. Patreon, we had a new Patreon record last month. So, welcome, welcome new patrons.

• 1:07:16Speaker 01

  Merry Christmas.

• 1:07:17Matt Farah?

Merry Christmas and thank you Renewals. We like you, we like you for staying and we appreciate that you're here. And as such, you get to do all kinds of things such as ask questions, watch the live stream, get the show early, get an ad-free listening experience and a whole lot more. These tactile turn pens, there are still a couple of them left. They were designated for the Patreon, but a few were released to the public as well and you can still get them using the link I put in the Patreon page. So, let's see. Ooh, good username. I'm trying to figure out if my reading glasses are good or bad for the TV monitor.

• 1:08:02Speaker 01

  Well, depends on the distance.

• 1:08:04Matt Farah?

I actually think it's better to not have them for the TV monitor. Nice cams says, I've got a 2021 Camaro SS1LE, I've been tracking it bone stock for two years. Is there a better track car for the money in the world? I can't think of one. Well, in the world? Better is objective. How long does it have to last? Do you want to go faster? You could get a C6 Z06 that will beat you around a track. And that might be less money, or it might be close.

• 1:08:39Speaker 01

I mean, you could also like.

• 1:08:40Matt Farah?

You know, let's get a Miata.

• 1:08:41Speaker 01

Expendable, right. Miata, Honda. Your expendables could be a lot lower if you want to. But I will say, the Camaro SS1LE is such a great overall car.

• 1:08:51Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:08:51Speaker 01

It is so good at being a daily driven, also track car, under $100,000 or $80,000. It's fantastic.

• 1:09:00Matt Farah?

I agree. If you want, if I want to be pedantic, is there a better track car for the money? For what it cost, for what it costs to buy a 2021 Camaro 1LE, you could buy like a race car, like a pretty good race car. You could buy any number of different actual race cars. And so if you actually are talking about pure track car, then you could do that.

• 1:09:23Speaker 01

  That's true.

• 1:09:25Matt Farah?

Right? You can buy open wheel cars. You could buy like a fucking NASCAR, basically. Um, if that's the thing you want, but I presume that is not the question. Um, okay.

• 1:09:39Matt Farah?

Way, way bad's rad. Uh, has a lot of fucking words, but the, the be, the meat of it is what car can you get into from your high school or college days that would be legitimately awesome? I would get a, a 2000 or 2001 Honda Civic SI. That would be a superb automobile.

• 1:10:07Speaker 01

So expensive now. That's the problem.

• 1:10:09Matt Farah?

So few, there's so few left.

• 1:10:10Speaker 01

Ten grand, amazing. When they're 40, 50, you go, ugh, rather have a Camaro SS 1LE.

• 1:10:15Matt Farah?

Yeah, that's a, that, but, but very nice little cars. Um, some of the Volvos of that period were really, really cool.

• 1:10:24Speaker 01

The Integra Type Rs are amazing.

• 1:10:26Matt Farah?

  Yes, Integra Type Rs.

• 1:10:30Matt Farah?

There is a car of that period that I'm on the hunt for, but I'm not going to say what it is.

• 1:10:34Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:10:35Matt Farah?

Uh, cause I'm not gonna fuck myself like that.

• 1:10:38Speaker 01

First gen R8, I'll keep saying it. Steering is just fine, but everything else about that car I think is fantastic.

• 1:10:43Matt Farah?

Yeah, they're good. Uh, Darian says, my M340i lease is coming to an end and I'm looking to downgrade, but want something fun. I need all wheel drive and an automatic 35K and under. What should I consider? I mean, add cross track.

• 1:11:03Speaker 01

  Yeah, well.

• 1:11:04Matt Farah?

How much are Crosstrex? Are they under 35K?

• 1:11:07Speaker 01

  New, yes.

• 1:11:08Matt Farah?

  They are?

• 1:11:09Speaker 01

I think they're cheaper than that.

• 1:11:09Matt Farah?

  Yeah, that's, that's your, that's your move.

• 1:11:13Speaker 01

That is a great car. You won't be, it won't be nearly as fast or exciting as your M340i, unfortunately.

• 1:11:18Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:19Speaker 01

  That's tough.

• 1:11:21Matt Farah?

  Um.

• 1:11:21Speaker 01

  Grand. Kia Stinger?

• 1:11:24Matt Farah?

They still, do they still make those?

• 1:11:26Speaker 01

They, they, they, no, they call it K5 now, um.

• 1:11:31Matt Farah?

Can you get a, can you get a mini, uh, Countryman?

• 1:11:35Speaker 01

  For that cheap?

• 1:11:35Matt Farah?

  For that money?

• 1:11:36Speaker 01

Let me see. That's a, that's a pretty good car.

• 1:11:39Matt Farah?

They are nice. What, A3? Used?

• 1:11:44Speaker 01

Countryman starts at 39, or the one they tested on Car Drivers, 39. So that's really close. And that, that's a fun car and kind of a, a little bit exciting and interesting.

• 1:11:57Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:11:59Speaker 01

Did you get an M340 for 35 grand? That's amazing.

• 1:12:02Matt Farah?

I mean, you, an A, an A3 lightly used would, would do it. You can get an FPace

• 1:12:11Matt Farah?

used for way under that. That would drive very nice. Um.

• 1:12:18Matt Farah?

Okay, Gabe says, I switched from OE run flat tires to conventional tires on my Lexus LC500. Two questions. Should I run the same pressures? Uh, in general, I think you should run the recommended pressures on the door. Whether you're running run flats or not.

• 1:12:38Speaker 01

I believe that's correct. I would search TireRack for more information, but from what I remember, like, the door, the door says the tire pressure is based on the car's weight and whatnot.

• 1:12:48Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:12:49Speaker 01

The tires can fit on a bunch of different cars. So.

• 1:12:52Matt Farah?

I would, I would start with the same pressure and look at how they wear for the first few hundred miles. And if they wear unevenly somehow, or, or too much in the center, or too much on the outside, then you can adjust, but I would certainly start in the center. But number two, he says, do all run flat tires suck this bad? I think run flat tires do suck that bad most of the time. I don't like run flat tires.

• 1:13:19Speaker 01

No, I prefer, I prefer regular tires all the time. They're, they're always quieter, always. But this person, it sounds like they're having. I mean, constantly bulging sidewalls, bad treadwear.

• 1:13:33Speaker 01

If you're having weird treadwear, also get your alignment checked.

• 1:13:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:13:36Speaker 01

Like, definitely check that, because that's usually a sign of that.

• 1:13:39Matt Farah?

Yeah. Max Lial says, "If you woke up with no vehicles, but the value of your current garage is back into your bank accounts, would you go out and buy the same garage, or would there be differences?"

• 1:13:59Speaker 01

I think I'd probably, if all of a sudden my car was gone, and I guess I had, am I getting the money I paid for it, or the money I might be able to get for it today?

• 1:14:06Matt Farah?

I think you have to do today's value.

• 1:14:08Speaker 01

  Great, that's helpful.

• 1:14:13Speaker 01

  I would probably get...

• 1:14:18Speaker 01

Can I get a, man, options aren't great, but I have to get a Camaro SS1LE. I'd have like 25,000 bucks. So, my options for daily driven fast car are pretty slim. It's a, or maybe like a used Mustang Track Pack 2 or something.

• 1:14:34Matt Farah?

You wouldn't, you wouldn't be happy with that at all.

• 1:14:39Speaker 01

  That's, that's hard.

• 1:14:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:14:42Speaker 01

  I'd get, you know, a one, a two-year-old GR86.

• 1:14:47Matt Farah?

You wouldn't buy, one of the options, by the way, is buy back the same car.

• 1:14:52Speaker 01

I was trying to switch it up, though.

• 1:14:53Matt Farah?

  Okay.

• 1:14:53Speaker 01

  I like...

• 1:14:54Matt Farah?

So, you're saying, saying that you, you don't have to, you know, you don't have to do that.

• 1:14:58Speaker 01

Or I go to, a friend of mine bought an E90 in Texas for 16,000 dollars.

• 1:15:03Matt Farah?

  Really?

• 1:15:03Speaker 01

It was pretty fucking clean, so I'd probably try to find one of those. That's what I would do. I'd switch to a E90.

• 1:15:07Matt Farah?

16,000 bucks for an E90 is not bad.

• 1:15:10Speaker 01

Yeah, brave, too, but I would, I would go a little more expensive.

• 1:15:13Matt Farah?

It probably needs fucking 12G's and stuff, yeah.

• 1:15:16Speaker 01

  No, it's pretty good.

• 1:15:17Matt Farah?

Um, I, I mean, I probably, I'm very happy with the state of my garage right now. I don't...

• 1:15:23Speaker 01

Wait, let's go crazy, let's, because your garage, if you combine everything, including Countach, once it's assembled...

• 1:15:28Matt Farah?

You gonna make me add it all up, like, live right now?

• 1:15:30Speaker 01

No, I just, I wanted to see if you, like, dream huge.

• 1:15:33Matt Farah?

I did say, do you remember when we had the Gunther Works Turbo, and I said, "If I could, I would switch everything to just this."

• 1:15:40Speaker 01

  Right. Now, that versus roof.

• 1:15:43Matt Farah?

Oh, versus the CTR, oh, very tough. Very, very tough.

• 1:15:53Matt Farah?

The CTR to own might be like a little too subtle for me. I might, if I was gonna spend that much money, I might want something a little more ridiculous.

• 1:16:09Matt Farah?

It's not to take anything away from what that car is.

• 1:16:12Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:16:13Matt Farah?

But like, what, you know, it's stealth.

• 1:16:16Speaker 01

The Gunther is more ridiculous. The Gunther is what you get when the roof meets the Countach.

• 1:16:22Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:16:23Speaker 01

  That's, that's what that is.

• 1:16:24Matt Farah?

Yeah. I'm about that level of crazy.

• 1:16:27Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:16:28Matt Farah?

So I would, I would, if I did anything at all, it would be to trade everything for that one car.

• 1:16:35Matt Farah?

Billy Jimmy Zox, what would you rather? Not a Todd Hill 911 K or a comparable one with a big power turbo?

• 1:16:44Speaker 01

  11K.

• 1:16:45Matt Farah?

  11K.

• 1:16:45Speaker 01

  All day.

• 1:16:46Matt Farah?

Yeah, 11K. Engine Nerd, Nissan Leafs are leasing for 50 bucks a month in Colorado.

• 1:16:53Speaker 01

  Wow.

• 1:16:54Matt Farah?

Wow. What's the most fun a group of friends could have with a bunch of practically free Leafs? Spec Leaf Ice Racing? That would be very good.

• 1:17:03Speaker 01

  Yeah, that's pretty cool.

• 1:17:05Matt Farah?

You could see who could kill their battery for the first, like, remember I tried to do that with a, I think it was a, was it a Ferretti Challenge gone wrong? We tried to run out of gas first.

• 1:17:19Speaker 01

That's a good challenge for the Leaf. How, who can run out of electricity first?

• 1:17:23Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:17:23Speaker 01

Cause someone's gonna load theirs with concrete.

• 1:17:25Matt Farah?

No, no, I think I pitched it to the car show.

• 1:17:29Matt Farah?

  And they didn't do it.

• 1:17:30Speaker 01

  Oh, you did?

• 1:17:31Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:17:31Speaker 01

Yeah, we were like, and we were gonna use a 4GT.

• 1:17:34Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:17:35Speaker 01

We're trying to get worse miles per gallon.

• 1:17:36Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:17:37Speaker 01

Yeah, we did. We wrote that out. And it was like all these different cars. And then eventually, I think it was gonna be like a 4GT towing other cars. Was towing a Prius. It was something crazy, like a V8 car towing a Prius at Willow Springs. That was the idea.

• 1:17:53Matt Farah?

Um, yeah, a whole fleet of cars.

• 1:17:57Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:17:57Matt Farah?

I would, I would do a, I'd string them out across the country.

• 1:18:04Matt Farah?

And right when one dies, another one would be there.

• 1:18:07Speaker 01

  You would relay race.

• 1:18:09Matt Farah?

Relay race them all the way across the country, cannonball.

• 1:18:13Speaker 01

  How many do you need?

• 1:18:14Matt Farah?

  You could.

• 1:18:15Speaker 01

  That's a great idea.

• 1:18:17Matt Farah?

Well, it's 2,800 miles, so you'd need like 15 of them.

• 1:18:23Speaker 01

Well, someone, cause Kyle Connor, I guess, just ran like a cannonball record in a Pan, uh, Taycan.

• 1:18:28Matt Farah?

  A Taycan, right.

• 1:18:29Speaker 01

Under 40 hours, which is very fast even in a gas car.

• 1:18:31Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:18:32Speaker 01

So a Leaf now has a 150 to 215 mile battery only range. Let's just say it's 150.

• 1:18:38Matt Farah?

Oh, so 150, oh, so you need, uh, I mean, 20 of them?

• 1:18:45Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:18:45Matt Farah?

  Basically.

• 1:18:46Speaker 01

  But if you did that.

• 1:18:47Matt Farah?

  Maybe 19?

• 1:18:48Speaker 01

Would it be faster to exit and change cars and get in a new one than ever stop and charge one single car? That's a funny game.

• 1:18:57Matt Farah?

The total time stopped would be less than.

• 1:19:00Speaker 01

Would it? I'm saying would it? It might be.

• 1:19:01Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:19:02Speaker 01

I mean, if, if you can have time, have them set up on on ramp, off ramps.

• 1:19:06Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:19:06Speaker 01

You exit, you change cars in 20 seconds?

• 1:19:09Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:19:09Speaker 01

And you do that 20 times?

• 1:19:11Matt Farah?

Driver change at the same time.

• 1:19:13Speaker 01

Yeah. That's what you guys should do.

• 1:19:16Matt Farah?

I think that's against cannonball rules.

• 1:19:19Speaker 01

Oh, you have to finish in the car that you.

• 1:19:20Matt Farah?

I think that is like pretty much one of the only rules. Yeah.

• 1:19:25Speaker 01

  Let's do it anyway.

• 1:19:26Matt Farah?

Cause in, uh, in one of the cannonball runs, the Smothers brothers have another, of course, it's a Bentley. They have a second Bentley in the finishing city. And so they just like fuck off and go to Vegas for like a day and then fly on a jet to get the other Bentley and drive to the finish line.

• 1:19:44Speaker 01

  Not a bad idea.

• 1:19:45Matt Farah?

No, but like been thought of.

• 1:19:48Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:19:48Matt Farah?

Yeah. Uh, Ansel Leveque is going to Monterey Car Week for the first time. Uh, anything that's a must see and is the $500 ticket for Pebble Beach really worth it?

• 1:20:01Matt Farah?

Well, you must see the tour, which is very easy cause it's free. Just post up on Route One, south of Monterey. Big Sur will come to you. Um, you, the ra, the races are great.

• 1:20:16Matt Farah?

But uh, also just like being around and seeing all the cars just driving all over. Quail is insanely expensive. I couldn't, I would not tell you that it's worth like $2,500 or whatever that is. 500 for the concourse probably worth it once.

• 1:20:32Speaker 01

I think once, especially if you're coming from out of town.

• 1:20:35Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:20:35Speaker 01

I mean, it sounds like you're going for the first time in the summer. Do the whole thing. And of course, this is an economic question as well. Like, can you afford it? So if you, if you're like, ooh, I can, but do I really want to? Do it once.

• 1:20:48Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:20:48Speaker 01

Cause then you get to see everything. But, but like you said, so many of the things there are free. The tour is amazing and it's free. And you can go to the end of it and then kind of leapfrog with it. You can drive in it. You can pull out in traffic, boom, you're part of the tour. And then you can stop in a new place and, and you know, shoot pictures from a different turnout. Do that and do the vintage races and then just walk around Carmel. There's, last time there was like literally a Ferrari club had rented two blocks of Carmel to have their own Ferrari car shop. And you could just be going to get coffee.

• 1:21:19Matt Farah?

Oh, I was there. I was there this year. Yeah. And the, uh, and, and the, um, what's it called?

• 1:21:25Speaker 01

  Bajra?

• 1:21:26Matt Farah?

  Huh?

• 1:21:26Speaker 01

  Bajra Cantina?

• 1:21:28Matt Farah?

Oh, yeah. Well, no, that, but also the auction houses, they have like previews. And you can buy like a spectator ticket to get into the previews for the auctions for like $25 or something. So there's that too. Downtown Monterey is fun.

• 1:21:43Matt Farah?

Yeah. Uh, Paul says are used Macans a good buy in the mid twenties? A 2017 Jeep GTS sold in no reserve cars and bids for $25,583,000, with 83,000 miles. Dynamically, like, yes. Like, that's a really nice driving car. In general, they're like really well made. They look good.

• 1:22:10Matt Farah?

  They're, they're really nice.

• 1:22:13Matt Farah?

I have no idea what the maintenance costs are.

• 1:22:15Speaker 01

  Me neither.

• 1:22:16Matt Farah?

None. So, I can't really say it's a good buy at that price if it immediately needs $7,000 worth of stuff, which who knows.

• 1:22:27Speaker 01

Or if, you know, that one sold 83,000 miles, do they have a big service at 100 that costs whatever, you know, that might be a thing you have to be concerned about. So, that's hard. It's a good value unless the maintenance gets out of control.

• 1:22:39Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. I really don't know what that looks like, but it seems like, and you know what's weird is like, I don't really know who the customer is for these like six-year-old sort of fast crossovers, you know, especially European ones. Like, that's a tough sell to a lot of people because they're not dynamically like enthusiastic enough where you're going to put up with maintenance like a 911 or something, and they're not brand new, but they're still like on the sort of current generation of cars across the board. But they just be so expensive to maintain when something goes wrong.

• 1:23:23Speaker 01

Yeah, that's a good question. It's like, what would a Golf R be without the enthusiast support?

• 1:23:27Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:23:28Speaker 01

You know, that's kind of what the Macan is.

• 1:23:29Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:23:30Speaker 01

I don't know, and they made, they sold so many of them.

• 1:23:33Matt Farah?

Yeah. Chris N. with a funny M5 weight comparison, and we're doing our CT5 Blackwing video very soon, and I do mention this a bunch in the video. The weight difference is 1,250 pounds between the new M5 and the Blackwing, and that is correct. The additional weight that the M5 has to lug around is equivalent to the original Smart car, the combined weight of 20 Golden Retrievers, two adult male gorillas, a fully stocked vending machine, and your mother.

• 1:24:07Speaker 01

  And your mother.

• 1:24:07Matt Farah?

  And your mother.

• 1:24:08Speaker 01

Oh, burn. She sits around the house.

• 1:24:11Matt Farah?

When I read the weight of the Blackwing, I was like, fuck. 4,100 five years ago was like, oh my God, it's so expensive.

• 1:24:20Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:24:20Matt Farah?

Now that's like, ooh, it's felt.

• 1:24:22Speaker 01

Truly relative. When I drove that Audi RS6 wagon.

• 1:24:27Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:24:28Speaker 01

And I looked at the weight, I went, not bad.

• 1:24:30Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:24:30Speaker 01

Not bad for a five-door with all-wheel drive and twin turbos.

• 1:24:33Matt Farah?

Yeah. This CT5 is delightful. Joey Bag of Donuts says, okay, wait, if you could create the perfect car dealership experience, what would it have and not have? I went, I just test drove a new Wrangler and they let us take it home for the weekend, which is different from what we're used to. But the salesman tactics and normal hanger haggling, etc., were not fun to deal with. By the, by the way, we did not buy the Wrangler from them.

• 1:25:06Matt Farah?

But it was cool to test drive it for more than just 10 minutes. I agree, that is cool.

• 1:25:13Matt Farah?

  Perfect dealership experience.

• 1:25:15Speaker 01

I think a two-day test drive would be amazing.

• 1:25:18Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:25:18Speaker 01

I think if they showed you, if you could compare trim levels right there and they just let you, like one thing they did with Toyota when we went to the, to buy the RAV4 is they just, the guy was so bored because he knows these things sell themselves. He literally was like, go sit in that one, enjoy. He left for 20 minutes. We didn't talk to him, he didn't say shit. He was like, here's the key, just, just fuck around. So we futzed around and it was a very hands-off experience, but that's because the car sells themselves.

• 1:25:46Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:25:46Speaker 01

I think that was nice and having multiple trim levels to look at would be good. And then ideally, they would say, here's the price we pay to buy it from the manufacturer and here's the price afterwards and the difference would be $10. You know, it would just be manufacturer cost.

• 1:26:02Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:26:03Speaker 01

  That'd be great.

• 1:26:03Matt Farah?

No one else makes any money. No one's allowed.

• 1:26:06Speaker 01

They make it up on volume, Matt. Like, like Southwest.

• 1:26:09Matt Farah?

I just got to sell 200,000 of these RAV4s.

• 1:26:12Speaker 01

They do. They sell like 400,000 a year.

• 1:26:15Matt Farah?

Yeah. I mean, the, the, the best thing about the best service dealers that I've had are the Lexus dealers that we've dealt with, with the myriad of RX300s and stuff that my mom has had. Like Lexus of Greenwich was like, they were open, you know, 7:00 AM to like 8:00 PM or 9:00 PM. You could get your car like late after work, after you'd taken the train home from the city or whatever. Just really communicative, always, always had loners if you needed them. It was just generally. A pleasant experience.

• 1:26:58Matt Farah?

The problem with the haggle, the haggling sucks. I mean, companies have tried to get rid of it. I mean, Tesla doesn't quote haggle, but they also just change their prices like all the fucking time. Whereas at manufacturer level, they don't do that. But it's the same, it's six of one and a half dozen the other. It's like, who do you want fucking pulling the wool?

• 1:27:20Speaker 01

I think getting rid of the BS charges, cause like one of the thing we caught, one of the tow drivers doing is they're like, oh, you can get this door protection, $3,000. And I said, and I looked at the photo and I went, is that PPF just on the lower third of all the doors? And he goes, yeah. And I went, that's $3,000. He goes, we can take it off. And he starts typing buttons. I'm like, that stuff's annoying.

• 1:27:42Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:27:43Speaker 01

Because you can PPF half a whole car.

• 1:27:46Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:27:47Speaker 01

For that in the aftermarket, right?

• 1:27:48Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:27:49Speaker 01

So, stuff like that, or like, I don't know, the undercoating was the old joke, but I think there's just, dealerships need to make money, they have staff to support, dah, dah, dah, dah. But then, when the dealer network owner has two planes, like G5s, you're like, alright, maybe stop selling us on some of this shit.

• 1:28:04Matt Farah?

Yeah. They all need to be like the Arizona Ice T guy, where he's like, I'm rich enough, I'm not raising the prices anymore.

• 1:28:11Speaker 01

  There you go.

• 1:28:12Matt Farah?

Yeah. Jake Shores says, do you think the addiction to modding and more power becomes less desirable due to age and experience with modding cars over time, or what other factors? Wait. Well, I mean, okay. Jake's, I think, is maybe making an assumption here that may or may not be true. The addiction to modding and more power become less desirable due to age and experience with modding cars over time, or what factors have led you to just want something to get in and drive? So like, what he's saying is like, reliability versus power, or ease of whatever?

• 1:28:54Speaker 01

I think the, I think the misstep is that we haven't really modified our cars ever to the point where they were unreliable.

• 1:29:01Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:02Speaker 01

There are people that do that.

• 1:29:03Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:04Speaker 01

And, okay, maybe the assumption is that they're usually in their twenties, where you put power and exploration of parts over anything else, and then when you get older, you go, yeah, I just want something that works.

• 1:29:14Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:15Speaker 01

But I don't think we've ever really done that.

• 1:29:17Matt Farah?

I don't think I really have. I mean, I've done like old school hot roddy stuff like cams and exhaust and heads and things like that. But I've never like put a bunch of boost on a car. Like I guess at the Focus RS, but like even that was like a stock turbo. That was just like intercooler stuff.

• 1:29:36Speaker 01

Well, it's like Scott was telling that story a few weeks ago that when Batim had Scotto's RWV car. He goes, would you want to order the Motec or do I? And Scott was like, I don't want a Motec. I don't want to start with a laptop. I want this to just be a streetable, normal car.

• 1:29:50Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:29:51Speaker 01

That's an example of things can go too far, all in the quest of horsepower.

• 1:29:57Matt Farah?

Yeah. And like regular, the kind of cars like we modded in high school to try to achieve the kind of power that like regular ass cars have today, like regular cars.

• 1:30:11Speaker 01

  So true.

• 1:30:12Matt Farah?

Like my dumb electric Mustang toaster has more power and torque than the Mustang I took to the drag strip in high school. That had a hand-built engine. Like I, it's, it's part of it is getting older and just wanting something that works. But other part of it is the quote, "Regular cars now go the speed I wanted to go in high school."

• 1:30:37Speaker 01

Yeah. And adding power and speed to some of the regular cars puts them into a level that's not actually more enjoyable. Unless you're in very specific circumstances. Like if you have an RS3, awesome, great vehicle, fast as hell, right? Sure, you can modify them to 700, 800 horsepower, but when do you really, really get to enjoy that? Unless you're willing to do it on the highway, which you shouldn't. Like you have to go to a strip. You have to go to a runway race or event. And so you have all of this power that doesn't actually really benefit your daily life.

• 1:31:08Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 1:31:09Speaker 01

Or even your weekend canyon life.

• 1:31:10Matt Farah?

And, and also like Zach and I live in a big city. It's a sprawled city, but it's a big city. So, excuse me. Yes, we have our mountains, but we're not going to the mountains all the time. It's pretty far. And so like there's the desire to have a car that you enjoy, that you drive every day, like just in your life. Like I have a bunch of like nice, weird, fun cars, but I, right now I'm actually like craving like a regular ass car. Uh, kind of a lot. Just cuz like, there's times I don't wanna have to think about that kinda stuff, you know?

• 1:31:51Matt Farah?

  Let's see.

• 1:31:54Matt Farah?

My, Myron says, fifteen K off of sticker on a Dodge Hornet RT. Should I replace my, uh, my wife's three-year-old Outback, her fifth Outback, with a new Dodge Hornet RT? Is that a bad idea, or a horrible one? Uh, man, if you're, if you've got an Outback person, stick with that. I wouldn't, the kinda change that I wanna throw into that equation does not start with Dodge Hornet RT.

• 1:32:26Speaker 01

I've never, I have not driven the Dodge Hornet RT, but, uh, I mean, she probably likes Outbacks, you know? And we, I like the Outback. We drove the new one a year ago.

• 1:32:35Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:32:35Speaker 01

Road nice, soft, like, kinda big, honestly.

• 1:32:38Matt Farah?

  It's big.

• 1:32:39Speaker 01

  It's gotten humongous.

• 1:32:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:32:40Speaker 01

But it does all of its things well, except for the multimedia screen icons kinda suck. But I don't, I don't know. I'd have to draw, I'd have to drive the Hornet to comment, but that's a big change.

• 1:32:52Matt Farah?

Yeah, man, I would not. If you brought someone who loves Outbacks a Hornet RT, something tells me they would not be happy with that. I'd rather have the three-year-old Outback, honestly.

• 1:33:08Matt Farah?

Okay, Nissan Ponyboy 2000 Nismo Edition. Uh, my understanding of EVs is that the drivetrains are less, quote, "connected" "to the car body than an internal combustion car", i.e. that things can be isolated like a skateboard. "Could there be a resurgence of coach building similar to the twenties and thirties? And, uh, since all EVs drive the same, would this be a way to add some excitement?" I mean, we do have coach building, like, in the twenties and thirties. It's just done in very small volumes by companies like Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Bentley, uh, McLaren. They're super, super rich people that are getting the shit.

• 1:33:49Speaker 01

Well, they're probably talking about going beyond that, right? Cuz people used to buy a Bentley and then give it to a coach builder.

• 1:33:53Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:33:54Speaker 01

Who would then do even more to it, or Cadillac buy something, something.

• 1:33:57Matt Farah?

Yeah, but, but like, not in the volume that Bentley sells cars today.

• 1:34:03Speaker 01

  No, definitely true.

• 1:34:05Matt Farah?

There was like, you know, there was like a hundred of those, you know?

• 1:34:09Speaker 01

  Yeah, I think.

• 1:34:13Speaker 01

I think it'd be hard to make that business case because I think the people that could afford that operate at a level where resale is in their brain a little bit. It's not that they don't have, some of them don't have to worry about it, but they still do. And so if you look at like Penn and Farina, when they do a special edition or, God, who's the one that does stuff for Aston Martin all the time?

• 1:34:37Matt Farah?

  Oh, Zagato.

• 1:34:38Speaker 01

Zagato, like people can pay the money, they get something that looks individual.

• 1:34:42Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:42Speaker 01

A lot of the complicated parts, engines and things are figured out by the factory. But then when they go to sell it, they can go, this is one of one by a brand people know.

• 1:34:51Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:34:51Speaker 01

And I think that that still means a lot to people.

• 1:34:54Matt Farah?

It definitely does. And with EV, I mean with EVs, the reason, imagine the resale of a coach-built EV. I don't know about that.

• 1:35:03Matt Farah?

I couldn't say definitively that it would make coach building easier to start with an EV, but I think it's still specific enough. Like, yeah, I mean, I guess if Zagato or Bertone or Penn and Farina did a run of cars, which you sort of see happening, right? The Penn and Farina Batista and the, and the Navara are the same car.

• 1:35:28Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:35:28Matt Farah?

  So different sort of hat.

• 1:35:32Matt Farah?

But will we ever see that in true mass market? Not sure. Don't really know. Below average nerd. Turkey preference, smoked, deep fried or baked? And favorite Thanksgiving recipe do you want to share? I love a smoked turkey. I love smoking a turkey. I like doing it. I love eating it. One day a year. I love a smoked turkey.

• 1:35:58Speaker 01

  You guys do smoked turkey?

• 1:36:01Matt Farah?

For this year, we did when I had Thanksgiving at my house in 2022, but in this one, we did not. It was a, it was an oven turkey. It was pretty delicious, actually. It was not bad. We had a good, we had a good meal this one. Basic, very traditional. Hannah's family likes a traditional. When I had Thanksgiving at my house, I veered from the norm. Outside of traditional to this family is like basically like what a what a nineteen eighties Thanksgiving would look like. Whereas I put a little spin on that, like pretty mild, honestly. Like I fuck, I fuck with latkes. My Thanksgiving is a Jewish Thanksgiving. So I fuck with latkes, which are amazing. Everyone loves a latke.

• 1:36:42Matt Farah?

And even if you don't think you love a latke, you love a McDonald's hash brown and it's basically that.

• 1:36:47Speaker 01

Yeah, my cousin does everything bagel stuffing and it has replaced other stuff.

• 1:36:53Matt Farah?

  Yeah, yeah.

• 1:36:53Speaker 01

  Amazing.

• 1:36:54Matt Farah?

That's probably excellent. I also, uh, new one coming in hot. Crispy, you know, the crispy rice spicy tuna that you get at a sushi restaurant? Throw a little juice spin in there crispy rice spicy tuna salad. This is, I made this and it's it's a tuna salad. But made as if it was spicy tuna.

• 1:37:17Speaker 01

You put it on top of crispy rice?

• 1:37:19Matt Farah?

You put it on top of a crispy rice, but instead of using like a raw sushi tuna, you use like canned tuna.

• 1:37:25Speaker 01

  With mayonnaise and stuff?

• 1:37:26Matt Farah?

With you do mayo, you do miso, you do soy, you do a little mirin, a little rice vinegar. And you fucking get that going and oh, and some chili crisp. Uh, and you basically make a tuna salad that's like spicy tuna. Fire.

• 1:37:42Speaker 01

  It's good?

• 1:37:42Matt Farah?

  Yes.

• 1:37:42Speaker 01

  Okay, interesting.

• 1:37:44Matt Farah?

  Yeah. Very nice.

• 1:37:46Speaker 01

I keep trying to convince my my aunt's in charge of the turkey and I keep trying to convince her to just bake it breast down. The turkey breast is so dry.

• 1:37:53Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:37:54Speaker 01

Cause it just goes gravity and she looks at me like I'm out of my mind. So when she dies, that will be the evolution.

• 1:38:00Matt Farah?

  You're taken over.

• 1:38:01Speaker 01

But for now, uh, it's, yeah, I don't know. Turkey's fine.

• 1:38:04Matt Farah?

The challenge of, uh, of this particular Thanksgiving was at my sister in law's house in Savannah. Beautiful little house, really cute cottage on this island outside of Savannah. One oven. So we had, we had the Airbnb house around the corner, sort of like your setup. Right in Palm Springs. So we had, we had one oven. But our Airbnb was shitty. So we had a bad oven.

• 1:38:31Speaker 01

  Oh, I've done that one.

• 1:38:32Matt Farah?

A really tiny kitchen. So very challenging to work in this type of environment.

• 1:38:36Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:38:36Matt Farah?

In really crappy appliance environment. Hannah learned what wide angle photography was because when she got to the house and she's like, when I got to the house, I was like, how is it? She's like, look at the listing and look at this house. And it was like, super fisheye, but then straightened up.

• 1:38:57Speaker 01

  Oh, man.

• 1:38:58Matt Farah?

They un-fish eyed it to make it look, yeah.

• 1:39:01Speaker 01

  High contrast color.

• 1:39:01Matt Farah?

And like on a big screen, you could tell the difference, but on a phone, it's, it's, it was too close to tell.

• 1:39:06Speaker 01

We look for apartments and we were finding, like the listing would say bright apartment and she'd click on the photo. I go, that's bullshit. They just open exposure, next. Cause you, all of a sudden, the texture on the tile was gone. I was like, this is horseshit. That's not bright. Yeah.

• 1:39:19Matt Farah?

They just cranked the brightness up.

• 1:39:20Speaker 01

I could tell immediately. The lawn was like neon green. I went, nope.

• 1:39:24Matt Farah?

You put it down to normal and you realize there's like a turd stuck to the wall?

• 1:39:27Speaker 01

There's one window in the whole thing. It's like a jail cell. Yeah. It was BS.

• 1:39:33Matt Farah?

  That's so good.

• 1:39:34Speaker 01

My mom learned what wide angle photography is sadly because one of the group shots in our wedding photos, she's at one end and like the fisheye, like iPhones do this. The things at the end of, at the edge of frame are stretched.

• 1:39:46Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:39:46Speaker 01

So she looks twice as wide as she is. So does Sarah's stepdad. And she's, and my mom is just so critical all the time. She caught it.

• 1:39:54Matt Farah?

  Oh, man.

• 1:39:55Speaker 01

And I was like, oh, I wish they backed up 10 more feet. Fuck, we can't fix this.

• 1:39:59Matt Farah?

I had to do a selfie with Hannah's entire family. So like my head is like huge.

• 1:40:04Speaker 01

  It's like a center car.

• 1:40:07Matt Farah?

Fucking awful. They're like, Matt, you do this all the time. I'm like, yeah, act like you're a car.

• 1:40:12Speaker 01

Yeah, throwing a bunch together. Oh, boy.

• 1:40:15Matt Farah?

Christian says, why is the GT3 Touring slower to 60 than the wing car? I don't think there's any difference at all. There's no difference between the cars. Uh. Is he talking about 992.2? And if so, I have no idea. I'm driving it in, in January and maybe I can tell you then. But if you're talking about the outgoing car. If two different like magazines tested it, maybe it was delivered on different tires. Cause like you could get them on like sort of regular tires or you get them on like cups. So I

• 1:40:47Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:40:48Matt Farah?

It should be exactly the same.

• 1:40:49Speaker 01

Also, in Germany, they do zero to sixty-two.

• 1:40:53Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:40:53Speaker 01

And that, like, I wrote to Frank, because there was a discrepancy between two different press releases. And he was like, there's not a discrepancy. You're looking at German.

• 1:41:00Matt Farah?

  You're looking at

• 1:41:01Speaker 01

One is German, one's US, and one's the sixty-two and one's the sixty.

• 1:41:04Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:41:04Speaker 01

  So.

• 1:41:05Matt Farah?

  Hundred K.

• 1:41:06Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:41:07Matt Farah?

Uh, Stacy's mom is my mom. So your sister is Stacy or your Stacy? That is the question.

• 1:41:14Speaker 01

They answered this and I deleted it just for space, but now.

• 1:41:16Matt Farah?

  Oh. Anyway, what, uh, what

• 1:41:19Speaker 01

  She's Stacy, I think.

• 1:41:20Matt Farah?

What modern car that is only offered as an automatic, would you choose to get as a manual? If the car gods were to grant you that one wish? Uh. Ooh. The Nissan, uh, the Z Nismo would be great as a manual. I really wish that that one, uh, came as a manual. That'd be a lot of fun. I'd like a McLaren Artura in manual. That would be pretty exceptional.

• 1:41:51Matt Farah?

  Zach?

• 1:41:51Speaker 01

I'm thinking. I'm thinking. Uh, how modern can we go like?

• 1:41:57Matt Farah?

Whatever. Brand new. Nine eleven Turbo S.

• 1:42:01Speaker 01

  Type R? That wasn't

• 1:42:02Matt Farah?

Oh, no, not offered in manual. Yeah.

• 1:42:05Speaker 01

  Don't do that.

• 1:42:05Matt Farah?

Not, that would be a good one.

• 1:42:07Speaker 01

Um, or a new M3 CompX drive. I mean, it's fun, but be more fun.

• 1:42:12Matt Farah?

I agree. Tim says, thoughts on the Boss 302 Mustang in 2024? That's the Boss 302 from back in 2012. Uh, would it still, still feel special today? Uh, does a modern GT match it in performance and handling? I think it would feel special today.

• 1:42:31Speaker 01

It's still had hydraulic steering, I think.

• 1:42:32Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:42:33Speaker 01

That had great steering. I remember that.

• 1:42:34Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:42:35Speaker 01

  Shifter was awesome.

• 1:42:36Matt Farah?

  Good seats.

• 1:42:37Speaker 01

Seems smaller than the new cars. Good seats, like

• 1:42:39Matt Farah?

  Sounded nice.

• 1:42:40Speaker 01

  Great analog vehicle.

• 1:42:41Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:42:42Speaker 01

  Uh.

• 1:42:42Matt Farah?

Didn't have, did it have side pipes? Did not have a side pipe, I don't think, but. Uh, I think they were very nice cars. I don't see them around very often at all.

• 1:42:52Speaker 01

  No.

• 1:42:54Matt Farah?

I remember the Boss 302 Laguna Seca was a very special thing when we had it. That was a really fun car.

• 1:43:03Speaker 01

Yeah, fantastic vehicle. I liked everything about it.

• 1:43:07Matt Farah?

Sloppy Topi 5000, what is the worst? Which is a worse six cylinder sound, the Ferrari F80 or the BMW F80?

• 1:43:20Matt Farah?

The Ferrari F80 sounds the same as the 296, which is actually a very pleasant sound. It's just quiet, right?

• 1:43:29Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:43:29Matt Farah?

I think it's, I think that car sounds nice.

• 1:43:32Speaker 01

It'd be hard to compare the two unless they had an evenly, their decibels were even.

• 1:43:38Matt Farah?

  Right.

• 1:43:38Speaker 01

But like, I think the Ferrari sounds a little better.

• 1:43:40Matt Farah?

Yeah. I don't, I don't, I think the Ferrari sounds a little better too. And I think the Ferrari sounds a little better than the McLaren Artura also.

• 1:43:50Speaker 01

  Yes.

• 1:43:51Matt Farah?

  Although McLaren is pleasant.

• 1:43:53Speaker 01

  It's quieter, I think.

• 1:43:54Matt Farah?

The 911 Turbo is the best six cylinder sound on the market right now, I think.

• 1:44:02Speaker 01

  Yeah, oh, for sure.

• 1:44:03Matt Farah?

  Right?

• 1:44:04Speaker 01

  Yeah, it's very unique.

• 1:44:05Matt Farah?

And actually, maybe not the Turbo, the new GTS might sound better than the Turbo.

• 1:44:11Speaker 01

  Interesting.

• 1:44:11Matt Farah?

No, what am I talking about? Like the ST is the best six cylinder sound. Why am I saying Turbo?

• 1:44:15Speaker 01

Oh, quick clarification. Someone, last week they asked if I noticed the turbo lag in the larger turbos on the new 911T.

• 1:44:23Matt Farah?

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:44:24Speaker 01

And I couldn't find anything. They clarified that because the T uses the Carrera engine, the Carrera 992.2 has larger turbos than the other one. So that was the question. I would have to drive them back to back to notice, frankly. My complaint was more that the gearing felt tall. They said the gearing is the same, but regardless, the gearing feels tall in the 911T.

• 1:44:46Matt Farah?

Okay. I drove the Carrera when I was on GTS launch and it felt really nice. It did not feel significantly faster than last year's Carrera, but it was nice to drive. So, scroll down, please. Josh says.

• 1:45:05Matt Farah?

Ooh, I need to spend some money with Delta before the end of the year to keep my status. Now you're speaking my language, Josh, buddy. If I were to fly anywhere and rent a sports car for a two day trip, where would you recommend I travel to and what roads would I drive? Well, what's, what Josh has not told us is where he is from, which is a problem.

• 1:45:29Speaker 01

And how much he needs to spend.

• 1:45:30Matt Farah?

Yeah, um, let's, before the end of the year, though, okay, so do we want to go hot or do we want to go cold?

• 1:45:38Speaker 01

I think it's too early to have good snow in most places, so I would go hot.

• 1:45:42Matt Farah?

Okay, so you could do Vegas, Valley of Fire, uh, Lake Powell, National Parks, uh, Zion, Bryce, that kind of stuff, that would be fantastic.

• 1:45:55Speaker 01

  Right.

• 1:45:56Matt Farah?

You could do, um, bourbon country, Smokies, Nashville.

• 1:46:05Speaker 01

Spain, like fly there, it's warm, drive like, I mean, the road, tarmac, it's really good, I don't know.

• 1:46:10Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:46:10Speaker 01

I don't know how many miles this person needs to add on their Delta card.

• 1:46:12Matt Farah?

I mean, Josh says anywhere, so yeah, Spain, Iceland, there's no sports cars.

• 1:46:18Speaker 01

  There's no sports cars.

• 1:46:18Matt Farah?

But still a good road trip.

• 1:46:19Speaker 01

But driving F road in Iceland, that's an adventure, drive in the middle of the island.

• 1:46:23Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:46:23Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:46:24Matt Farah?

  Uh, New Zealand.

• 1:46:26Speaker 01

  Hundred percent.

• 1:46:26Matt Farah?

  Best road trip ever.

• 1:46:27Speaker 01

  Yes, I would do that.

• 1:46:29Matt Farah?

Yeah, that would be exceptional. Um, all right, Wade.

• 1:46:36Matt Farah?

Uh, throw some D's on it, says, I wanted some advice on making time to read books. I'm in need of enjoying books instead of endless memes. How do you find time to read as many books as you do? Airplanes, no shit, lots of fucking airplanes.

• 1:46:56Speaker 01

Do you read every night, though?

• 1:46:57Matt Farah?

  No.

• 1:46:58Speaker 01

  No, okay.

• 1:46:58Matt Farah?

No, I don't read, I don't read books every single day. I probably read books like four days a week. And always when I'm traveling, I rip through books on airplanes, because what else am I fucking doing?

• 1:47:11Speaker 01

Usually editing or something. T-Pain put a great video on TikTok the other day ironically because he was like, people are out there complaining they don't have time to do something, to do things. What are you doing right now?

• 1:47:20Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:47:21Speaker 01

Watching me talk to you. It's like, put this down, go outside.

• 1:47:23Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:47:23Speaker 01

So, if you like, use the, there's like a screen timer app on iPhone. Just look at how much time you look at screens on your phone and think about how much time you're spending just like endlessly scrolling Instagram.

• 1:47:35Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:47:35Speaker 01

  You can read a book.

• 1:47:36Matt Farah?

Yeah. And reading a book, I just got a new book recommended by Scotto that's called Stealing Focus, I think it's called, about like why you can't, why you can't concentrate on like long form content. I'm gonna start reading that one too. Right now, I'm reading Timothy Snyder on freedom. He's like an expert historian who studies authoritarianism.

• 1:47:57Speaker 01

This sounds like a fun read.

• 1:47:59Matt Farah?

It's a real good, real good one. Real fun.

• 1:48:00Speaker 01

I bought, uh, It Can't Happen Here, which is similarly subject.

• 1:48:04Matt Farah?

I've read that one, yeah. Yeah, yeah, it's a good one. Um, let's see, let's do these four and then we'll call the game. Uh, Bad Gardener, if you were each to replace your cars with cars of twice the budget, what would fill the same roles? Okay. Uh, all right, the Countach, same role would have to be a Diablo GT because you're talking about a million dollars, basically. Diablo GT.

• 1:48:36Speaker 01

That's it. So that's what you would buy for a million dollars. I mean, you don't have to stay in Lamborghini.

• 1:48:41Matt Farah?

  To fill the same role?

• 1:48:42Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:48:43Matt Farah?

Yeah, because I can't get into an F40 or anything like that.

• 1:48:47Speaker 01

  P1s are expensive now.

• 1:48:48Matt Farah?

  Huh?

• 1:48:48Speaker 01

  P1s are too expensive.

• 1:48:49Matt Farah?

I don't want any of that shit. It's gotta be stick shift. It's gotta be like sort of old school, but Diablo GT is the ultimate of that formula.

• 1:48:56Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:48:57Matt Farah?

The NSX, twice the budget, I would get an NSXR. Easy.

• 1:49:02Speaker 01

  Yeah.

• 1:49:03Matt Farah?

Twice the budget on the Porsche, 911ST.

• 1:49:07Matt Farah?

Twice the budget on the Delica? Can't, can't get anything better.

• 1:49:12Speaker 01

  Uh, yeah, that's true. It's a very, because it's a weird thing. It's a lifted off-road minivan.

• 1:49:17Matt Farah?

  Twice the budget.

• 1:49:18Speaker 01

You can get a sportsmobile. You can get a six sportsmobile.

• 1:49:20Matt Farah?

A sportsmobile, yeah. Twice the budget on the Aston V12 Vantage, 2011, stick shift. That would be exceptional.

• 1:49:29Speaker 01

I think twice the budget on the M3, I would get 50 grand, I guess like a... I'd probably go Cayman S. I've said it before. Cayman is a sports car. Now, if I just say BMW, then I would go really low mileage E90. Twice the budget on the RAV4, I think like Defender, like Defender 110, right? That kind of does the same thing.

• 1:49:51Matt Farah?

Yeah, that's the car for people with dogs.

• 1:49:54Speaker 01

  Yeah, car for a dog.

• 1:49:56Matt Farah?

Car for a dog owner, yeah. Alex Brown, best way to protect a brand-new car? You get it from the dealership and drive it home, what do you do? Ammo reflex? Get it at West Side Collector Car Storage here in LA, or at ammo.monyc.com. Ammo reflex and then regular hand washes. Don't go to like shitty machine washes if you can avoid it.

• 1:50:21Speaker 01

Or don't go to the touchless washes. I used to do that a lot, and Larry went, "That's fine, wear your clear coats."

• 1:50:26Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:50:26Speaker 01

He's like, "The chemical stuff that's in the spray washes is aggressive."

• 1:50:30Matt Farah?

Yeah, it's, uh, it's tough, but you make the time to hand wash it yourself and/or go to a hand wash, and that will be a big one.

• 1:50:43Matt Farah?

Siamese sports cat enthusiast, every high-end car you drive seems to be wearing 40K in carbon fiber. I appreciate a weave, but I can't think, I can't help but think that all the ways to inflate the MSRP of your car, the decorative carbon fiber fetish, is the dumbest. What options would you skip with your own money on a high-end car? I would skip like carbon fiber, like, engine compartment.

• 1:51:08Speaker 01

  Oh, yeah.

• 1:51:09Matt Farah?

  Don't need that.

• 1:51:12Matt Farah?

I don't, I don't usually like the racing like bucket seats. I usually skip that.

• 1:51:19Speaker 01

Putting leather on too many surfaces, like truly covering the interior, like vents and things. If it's overdone, then at a certain point, the leather doesn't seem special anymore. Break that up a bit.

• 1:51:30Matt Farah?

Uh, logos on all kinds of stuff. I don't need the Porsche crest on the headrest and the armrest and the this and the that.

• 1:51:38Speaker 01

  Alcantara on things you touch.

• 1:51:40Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:51:43Speaker 01

Uh, well, nine eleven T related, leather on the back of the seat.

• 1:51:48Matt Farah?

  Yeah.

• 1:51:48Speaker 01

  I'm not touching it.

• 1:51:49Matt Farah?

  Don't need that.

• 1:51:50Speaker 01

  Who cares? Yeah.

• 1:51:50Matt Farah?

Yeah, yeah. Carbon, the carbon fi- like with the press cars and shit, I understand. They want to show, you know, show off what these options look like in, in the photos and what you can do, what you can customize. So I, I, I get it. Usually the spec is pretty good. But I know people who buy cars and, and skip all the carbon fiber stuff and they're, they're still rolling the fucking four eighty-eight or whatever. It's like, no sweat.

• 1:52:17Speaker 01

  Totally.

• 1:52:17Matt Farah?

No, most people don't really care or notice the difference if you don't get the full carbon package.

• 1:52:23Speaker 01

And I think carbon everywhere, everywhere was more special when carbon was rare, but now that you can go on eBay and literally buy carbon, like sure SM seven B covers, like it just doesn't seem as special. So.

• 1:52:35Matt Farah?

  Do they have those?

• 1:52:36Speaker 01

  Well, let's find out.

• 1:52:37Matt Farah?

They definitely do. Can we get some carbon, uh, fake carbon for our microphones in the studio? I bet they do. Do we have to get it on, what's the new fucking Chinese?

• 1:52:49Speaker 01

  Timu?

• 1:52:50Matt Farah?

  Trashy, yeah, Timu.

• 1:52:52Speaker 01

They do not have carbon fiber, but you know.

• 1:52:55Matt Farah?

Yo, but someone can wrap them for us. We could take them down. Last one, and then we get out of here for the day. Cheese demand says, thoughts on large watch on a small wrist? Just received my notice canyon, but have six point seven inch baby wrists. That is not that big of a watch on a six point seven inch wrist. It's forty-one millimeter. It's not like it's a forty-five. If you're like huge watch on a small wrist, that can look weird, but forty-one millimeter on a six point seven inch wrist, to me, not that weird. I'm, I'm okay with it.

• 1:53:27Speaker 01

I don't know what size my wrist is like.

• 1:53:28Matt Farah?

You don't? Have you ever, you never measure the circumference of your wrist?

• 1:53:31Speaker 01

  Nope.

• 1:53:32Matt Farah?

6.7 is only just on the south side of average.

• 1:53:38Speaker 01

  Oh.

• 1:53:38Matt Farah?

  Hannah's wrist is like 5.

• 1:53:41Speaker 01

  Okay.

• 1:53:41Matt Farah?

Yeah, and my wrist is almost 8.

• 1:53:45Matt Farah?

You're probably like, if I had guessed, you were probably 7 to 7 and 1/4. But 6.7 inches is not that small.

• 1:53:53Speaker 01

  Alright.

• 1:53:54Matt Farah?

Um, I think you can pull it off, homie, and thank you for supporting our watch hustle. Our watch hustle is good. I hope you like the watch. I mean, it's fucking nice ass watch.

• 1:54:02Speaker 01

We will answer the rest of the questions that were left on the next crew show.

• 1:54:05Matt Farah?

  Yeah, we love you.

• 1:54:06Speaker 01

We'll put them at the top of the list.

• 1:54:07Matt Farah?

We love you. We just got, you know, places to go. I'm going to Funky, dude, for dinner.

• 1:54:12Speaker 01

That's right. You gotta edit this and go, "Mmm."

• 1:54:16Matt Farah?

And, uh, yeah, we're back in the game. I'm not traveling anywhere for a little while. And, uh, we will have, we will have content for you. Thank you to our patrons for supporting us this year and having such great questions. Thanks to the rest of y'alls for listening, and we'll see you later. Bye.
